"Second time around is worse, they've been told."

Previous guest's lip balm still on the floor by the bed. Carpet turned the bottom of my white dress socks brown. Had to get the seat replaced on the toilet. Calking for tub, toilet and sink appeared to be done by a 10 year old. Left and came back late: the night-shift desk clerk and to clean the room since the maids didn't. The outlet in bathroom was loose. the lights/fan worked intermittently.

"Nasty, smelly tooms"

This was the worst hotel, the shower smelled, the carpet smrllsmin my room & in the hallway. The draws had stains didn't unpack. I hated being there. The account in the room was dmelly I purchased Lysol and wiped.

"Worst hotel experience ever!"

We had to clean the shower before using it because it was full of hair, tub was very slippery had to ask for a mat. There were blood stains on the sheet we had to ask that someone come to change them which took forever. There was rusted peeling paint on the wall next to the shower. The staff was very friendly but the hotel room was the worst I've ever seen.

"Delicious!! "

Just came here last night for my friends birthday dinner! Very popular place! Staff was working very hard and was great! Food was awesome. I definitely recommend the steamed clams. Soo sooo good!!! Quesadillas were amazing! Drinks were delicious and bar scene was cool and fun! Very nice inside and outside atmosphere and clean and new inside. It's inside the hotel but is a great place to come and eat even if you're not staying at the hotel on the site. They don't take reservations so come early!

We were initially pleased with this location. Just off the freeway, next to a large mall--however the mall is EMPTY and regular eating establishments are 5-7 miles down the freeway. We were willing to overlook damage to the porcelain on the bathroom fixtures in both rooms that we stayed in as well as the below average breakfast items, but when the fire alarm sounded at 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning, we reached the end of our patience. The hotel had smoke throughout. Turns out the staff cleaned the dryer screens with each use, but the dryer vent was apparently loaded up and needed to be cleaned. I will stay in another location next time.

I read reviews about the hotel before staying, smell is to be expected when you are that close to ocean, a little air freshener took care of it. We had a great experience, would definitely stay here again. Front desk and all other hotel staff we came in contact with were wonderful.

"First trip to Texas"

This was our first trip to Texas, we were visiting family we hadn't seen in 8 years. Most of the staff was very friendly and gave us directions to places to see in the area. The hotel was nice but could use some maintenance.

"musty rooms where everything was broken"

The check in and out was standard. The room smelled musty and everything in it was dusty and most of it was broken. Not worth the $205 I paid to stay. I would not have chosen this hotel, but it was the one selected for the wedding I was attending.

"Have stayed here before but this time had some bumps."

I've been pleased with this hotel before but this stay just wasn't as great as other times. With as much as the cost is to stay in this hotel things should be great. Some food during the breakfast time ran out, when you see food is getting low start making backup so you can replenish and guests don't have to wait. Wi-fi wasn't connecting for me, was disappointed. Used the shower and I could see baseball marks on both ends where the shower curtain spring used to be, was filled with silicone and that was it. Bed wasn't very comfy. Decor is a little outdated, if that matters. I would stay here again but will check other Best Westerns first.

"Not clean"

Noisy A/C, smoke in the room, dirty towels. Time to find another hotel near Galveston for the night before the cruise stay. We have started at this hotel for the last four trips down to Galveston. Finally showing its age or just bad cleaning.

"OK but in need of a revamp"

Stayed for 5 nights on a business trip to Texas City. The hotel was OK, but showing its age. I had just moved from a modern BW at Pasadena, so the difference was very evident especially as the layout was effectively the same between the two hotels. The WiFi was 'open' and generally very good, but one night is was dreadful with it dropping out every few minutes. Breakfast was acceptable but not exciting. The room was comfortable, with a large comfy bed, but noisy A/C. However, the bathroom needs upgrading and the bedroom had a very musty/odd (damp?) smell on arrival, which did disappear over the first few days. One night I killed a cockroach on the wall - these things happen but could have done without it! Used the free laundry facility but the ironing board in the room had no cover - made ironing a challenge to say the least! The phone did not work or the TV, but both were fixed very quickly by the very helpful and friendly staff. The staff are the bonus, and are the hotel's most most important asset. Would I recommend the hotel? - yes but if there were not good restaurants nearby - Olive Garden is excellent - it would be a difficult call..... Note: I did talk to the staff about my concerns and they showed great concern (as they should).

We booked this hotel because of its location next to an Avis/Budget car rental station in the Mainland Mall, Texas City. Unfortunately we found out that the whole mall is dead and the only food place nearby was a Jack in the Box. The BW itself was ok with good size rooms, a gym, a pool and a breakfast area. We were not altogether impressed with the cleanliness. The room seemed to be alright to start with but looking closer the corners hadn't been done and there were long black hairs on the bathroom floors. However, the mattress and bedding were comfortable. The front desk clerks were friendly and professional. The breakfast had enough items to choose from to get you going. If you don't mind the environment you'll like the motel.

My tv was not working and it took a while to get checked in plus there side doors didnt work there was a leak in the bathroom when u ran the bath water. But overall the room was clean and the staff was friendly

"Vomit odor"

A strong vomit odor permeated our entire wing, and penetrated our room. This took several hours to be addressed, and significantly impacted the character of our stay. Had it been attended to promptly, I could not blame the facility - these things happen.

"Too many pots; too many spoons, not enough hands."

Every employee there had at the least three + assigned job descriptions/tasks. Two went undone while the other was hurried through, etc., etc., as each boiled over in its turn. Many of the "+" tasks were fixing what another worker rushed through. All of this chaos is properly laid at the owner's doorstep. I stayed several days and saw a maid *Once*.

"Christmas Morning"

We came a little early for Christmas and decided to stay att this hotel. We wanted to go visit the light show at the only race way. The staff was very sweet and accommodating even working during holiday. The breakfast attendant, Lois, made my whole stay for me. She was always smiling and offered to keep breakfast out a little later for my family and I. The bathrooms were a little on the smaller side of what I normally see in best westerns. Our room was really spacious however.

Not happy with stay, it's important to have clean fresh Hotel at all times. The hotel has smells in room and is not in Best working way for a guest... up grades need to happen.... I don't like staying somewhere I have to clean like I am at home.... but the crazy part is pay for a room that looks horrible and your home room looks feels and smells way better. A Hotel should make you want to stay there.

"Unacceptable quality all around"

Mold or mildew odor in room so bad my family was coughing and sneezing. Carpet was wet by ac unit. Blankets were missing on the beds and when i asked for blankets night staff said they had no extra Blankets!

We Will not stay here again.Worse hotel visit in many years.The room was not clean at all.the bathroom was dirty.the tub had rust in it.Kids were running around upstairs for hours both nights.did not res well.

The experience at this hotel ruined our entire trip. I was embarrassed in front of my family at the terrible choice I made. But how can you make that choice blindly without physically being there to smell the odors and to see the cockroaches? I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My stay was very Pleasant. Front desk staff was very helpful and attendant to my needs. Cleaning staff was great about supplies and cleanness. Breakfast area was always clean and food was always plentiful. Staff was always welcoming and smiling.

The hotel had clean rooms and decent decor. Direct TV with a million channels. The decor in the lobby is outdated but that can be overlooked. The breakfast was awesome, they had eggs and sausage, waffles, pastries, muffins, etc. The key card didn't work with the backdoor. I would stay here again.

Stayed 18Aug2017. This was our go-to Best Western when visiting our son in college. However, sad to report that this location has run down, not up to BW image, or maybe new management. When we tried to use our BW Travel Card $ upon check in, the front desk lady said we can't use it, despite it said so directly on the card & how to apply the credit upon check in! She said we have to call BW customer service and didn't want to discuss the matter further. To make story short, we called CS & they stepped her thru how to apply the credit. Hotel needs to train their people better on their own promotions and on courtesy aspect. The room we had needed major renovations. There was a sewage-ish odor and we found that toilet was not properly caulked/sealed at the floor. Sink has cracks and rust, same w/ tub & shower plus water damage on wall. Bath floor tiles also cracked in several places. Plz see pictures. The AC unit was louder at night and we found ourselves lying awake waiting for it to kick in again! Very bad night w/ little rest so we didn't even get up for breakfast!

Hotel is very clean. Staff was excellent. Bedding needs to be upgraded. Mattress was hard and old style bed linens. Young lady working front desk was excellent. I even received a gift bag when I checked in.

I found the rooms quiet and comfortable. the recommendations for local dining was excellent and close. The desk attendant took care of my needs personally. Service was excellent and departing was fast and courteous.

We had been packing and moving all day and relocating to Texas City, never did we expect to stay at a hotel, so we were not hotel ready, we had been on the road for over 3 hours with a toddler, a six and ten year old. When we arrived we were amazed by the grand entrance. The guy at the front desk was very helpful and when asked if we could have extra shampoo, we provided it for us. When we arrived to the room the kids immediately looked for the control however there was none and while searching for it we noticed candy wrappers behind the night stands. Which of course had my 6 year old yelling about the candy wrappers (since he has a sweet tooth and does not agree with people not sharing their candy, I guess believing we had candy) that was not the case. We also noticed certain "residue" on the edge of the toilet seat. After a good showering I was ready to lie down but that was not the case with my toddler who needed his milk before bed, and the gas station required us to get up and drive again, so I suggested to my husband he ask the front desk, he hesitated but went anyway. The gentleman at the front did not mind at all and even asked if he wanted 2 % or whole and filled us up. After that we ALL slept good. The following morning we went to eat breakfast and I could not get over how good the eggs and hash browns were! There was a variety of options eggs, hash browns, sausage, waffles, cereal, juice, milk, delicious coffee, It was all very pleasant. the check out was as friendly as the check in. Aside or the cleanliness, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great hotel for what we needed. Just needed a place to crash before our cruise. Nice clean rooms but did have a funny smell at first but since I always have febreeze that took care of it. Comfortable beds and the breakfast was great! Also only took us about 15-20 minutes to get to our cruise terminal.

Our room was an average size with working air conditioner, nice bathroom, refrigerator and 2 beds that I thought were suppose to be Queen but looked more like double beds to me. They were comfortable beds and pillows. We were told to retrieve towels from the front desk which I thought was odd. Adequate breakfast. Very decent place to stay near shopping, the freeway and a few restaurants. Safe area and friendly staff.

This place is not horrible but I believe they could do much better. The cleaning staff needs to do a better job. When we checked into our room there was a sippy cup left from the previous guest, also a used bottle of shampoo left in shower. Sink was clogged in first room,( we had to move because of the loud people above us). Some of the towels are very worn. We were also only left one towel and wash cloth our last night there. The breakfast is pretty good, the outside area and pool are very nice. A few restaurants within walking distance. I would stay here again but would probably look for something better before I settled on this one.

The girl on the night shift was awesome. She offered to help me to my room cause I could barely make it through the door. All I had was my purse,a dinner container. And a 12 pack of diet coke. She got me extra blanket showed me She was just a call away. It made me feel better,it was sweet. Room,ahh great way better than BW Grand in Atlanta. Staff there,they couldn't care less.

We drove to Galveston on a spur of the moment just for something to do. We always stay on the mainland because it is cost effective. I am now never searching for a place to stay again! This place was clean, the staff was nice and actually did their jod without complaining. The bads were hard, but I like hard beds! The pillows were great! Fitness room has free weights and machines!

This hotel was nice, only thing is our tub was stopped up mentioned it on 3 separate occasions and they didn't even attempt to fix it our entire stay, other than this it was an okay stay, we made the best out of what we were given.

Just minutes before checking in to the hotel, our family received a phone call that the 48 year old father of one of our group had a massive heart attack and died. What we thought would be a fun family vacation was quickly changed. The staff rearranged rooms to get us checked in quickly and made every effort to accommodate us. The next morning we had nice cards put under our doors with notes of sympathy from all the employees. This was definitely a gesture above and beyond to express compassion at our trying time.

Hotel was clean but they really skimped on simply amenities like soap, towels and no lids for coffee cups. The staff was very friendly and professional. The room was large. The general area was not very good - next to an abandoned mall.

"Unfriendly Staff"

Desk clerk was not very friendly. We asked to change rooms as our room was right in front of elevator and near ice machine. She said the only other room was above breakfast area. I told her we booked this room in April and there was 5 rooms in our family reunion group. She said there was nothing she could do. I felt we should have had a other options since it was booked 2 months prior. The AC unit in room 305 was very loud as well. Free breakfast was minimal at best. Waffles were the best option.

"Short stay"

This hotel obviously cater to beach goers who do not want to pay the higher priced on Galveston Island. It has a musty smell and the staff is helpful, but no customer interpersonal skills. Room appeared clean but it was hard to get over that musty odor. Breakfast was limited and most seemed to eat the rubber waffles. I would have felt better if this was a $100 motel instead of a $152, but still would not go back.

There was a lot of good about this hotel and a little not-so-great. The pros:clean rooms, TV had good selection of stations, microwave, refrigerator, nice pool, fitness room, complimentary hot breakfast, personalized bottle of water upon arrival (with reservation), short 15 minute drive to Galveston, next door to the mall, seemed safe, and it was quiet. There are a few cons: two of the rooms we stayed in had a very strong, musty odor; the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the king room were completely empty, and when the maid service cleaned our room, they didn't leave towels. We were able to get some from the front desk, however. All in all, we enjoyed our visit and would likely stay here again, if we are in the area.

"Good Place to Stay"

Very nice stay. Staff was cordial. Breakfast had a variety. Room was clean. Internet was fast and easy. Would stay there again. We were headed to a cruise and there were 13 of us. We all booked separate, but when we got there we let them know we would be drifting in. They quickly switched up rooms and got us all on the 3rd floor! Above and beyond!

"Buyer Beware Reservation cancelled day before checkin"

I had booked my room with an online site back in January for a June 10th stay. On June 9th I received a call from the site that Best Western had cancelled my reservation due to overbooking. If you are reading this then you are probably looking for a cruise hotel and you can understand how hard it is to find a good rate on a room sometimes. I would not recommend booking with Best Western for the risk on losing your hotel at the last minute.

"Would have been great if they'd fixed our moldy room situation"

My FIL's room was clean and fresh but our room was musty smelling. When I folded out the sofa sleeper I realized it was moldy under the mattress. I called the front desk. They said they'd tell housekeeping. I told her myself when I saw her. When she came to clean she was appalled by the giant mold spot under the mattress and found more mold in the dresser. She took pictures and went down to talk to someone about it. We left to go to the beach and I assumed we'd come back to find the furniture had been replaced or a new room assignment. Not so. It was late and I needed to get two children to bed for an early wakeup the next morning so I didn't say anything. I should have asked for a new room, but I was exhausted and honestly I don't feel like I should have had too, that should have been taken care of for me while I was VACATIONING. :( I should have taken pics to add to my review. I saw poor reviews, but foolishly assumed that people were being overly picky. If you get assigned Rm 316 and it smells musty or another room that smells musty, ask to switch!!!!! Mold isn't healthy.

We have stayed here befor and loved it. Not this time. We will find other accomodations next time. The hotel was dirty. Musty smell was overpowering in our room. Housekeeping apparently does just a quick once-over before re-renting the room. Bathroom wall was disgusting. One of the washcloths had red staines (possibley lipstick) that seemed to have not been laundered. The desk top was sticky (had to clean it with a wet towel) . over-all. very disappointed. Don't even try making a waffle. Apparently they never clean the waffle maker.

My stay at this Best Western was just a little disapointing as it wasn't as good as I have experienced in other Best Westerns in the past. I chose this property due to a cheap booking rate for a 5 night stay. It was the lowest rate in a decent hotel in the area. The room was clean, staff was friendly and the location was convenient. The complimentary breakfast was well under par. The "hot" food was warm at best and the selection was very limited. However there were other cold items to choose from. There was confusion about my 3rd party reservation booking. It was resolved with just a couple of extra conversations and the booked rate was honored even though the hotel could not find my reservation. I guess it is fortunate they were not full as I may not have had a room, but all is well that ends well. Bottom line, next time different hotel.

Hotel was nice in appearance, we used the conference room - A/C in there not working, made for a long hot meeting. worst of all - A/C in the first room I was given did not work, moved directly above that one and same thing...both rooms the a/c not work -made for a very uncomfortable night. Some of the staff did not seem to interested in making my stay better. The "repair person" not knowledgeable at all.

"Looks can be deceiving "

Hotel looked nice on the outside. It is in a location next to a closed mall and a few fast food joints. But only 15 minutes from the Gulf and NASA, which were the focus areas for most of the trip. Price is average for what you get. Breakfast was fine on slow days, but not well stocked, cold, and dining area was a mess when there were many people eating there on a weekend. Staff was pleasant and tried to help with a few concerns. Biggest concern was that the room smelled moldy or mildewed from previous guest. Sheets felt a bit damp the first day before drying out. Room appeared to be updated, but the smell and breakfast being under stocked is not what I have seen or expected compared to other best westerns.

We booked our trip 1 month in advanced through the front desk. We requested 2-2 queen size beds and I gave my credit card number to hold the rooms. When we arrived at 2pm we were told that our reservations had been cancelled and they could not accommodate us for the rooms requested. The reason stated was that our rooms said the payment was cash and they cancelled our room earlier that day. (I have never heard of reserving a room with a payment type of cash). They did try and accommodate us with 1 King bed room and 1 King Suite with a fold out couch. The couch was not comfortable for a 6'2 man to sleep on. Needless to say not a great experience.

We normally stay at the BW on the sea wall for gymnastics meets in Galveston. Thanks to the staff you have changed our normal competition hotel. The price was half of what we pay! The staff was awesome to my family.

"Not much value"

I contemplated a 2 star review of this property but understand that the location probably warrants the $$. While this is a nonsmoking hotel, it was obvious that either it hasn't always been or they don't enforce the policy. Our room smelled like a beer joint the morning after. My husband is allergic to smoke and his head was completely stuffed up this morning. The whole property seemed dated and after taxes we paid $143+. This isn't near a beach but I guess the dog race park counts as an attraction. We were coming for a funeral but noticed that many people were cruising out of Galveston today. So maybe that's why the rate. Whatever - they shouldnt advertise as nonsmoking when the rooms have been smoked in.

"Not what you're expecting at all"

We had reserved 2 double queen bed rooms and when we arrived we found our rooms had been cancelled. Someone who took our reservation typed in cash instead of our credit card info. The lady at the desk did her best to accommodate us by giving us a king bed in 1 room and a king suite for the other room. This meant that 2 of us were sleeping on a couch. NOT A BED. On top of that the room smelled extremely moldy or smoky. I ended up getting severely sick from the smell and ended up taking medicine to get better. When we came down for breakfast there weren't very many tables and we had to ask for coffee (pots were empty) and there we no napkins. Also the king size suite head board and couch were severely dirty. We showed this to the clerk at the desk who took our phone number and said the manager would call us which no one has done so far. DON"T stay here unless you like being ignored and sick.

"Horrible experience"

Horrible experience...would not recommend this hotel.  To start we get in our room and everything is damp from the air conditioner being turned down way too low.  It took several hours to get the moisture out of the sheets so we could sleep.  While waiting for the sheets to dry out we went to clean up and the bath tub would not drain for the shower. We left the next morning to sight see on our honeymoon only to get back at 10:30 pm to someone else in our room.  When I went to the front desk they said they had taken all of our things out of our room because our stay was over.  It took 10 minutes or so for the person at the counter to find our reservation and book us in another room. After we brought our luggage to our next room we immediately go through our valuables to make sure it is all there only to find an $80 bottle of perfume and $250 diamond earrings missing. After filing a complaint with the corporate headquarters the only response we get back is that they never saw any earrings or perfume in the first room.  The corporate headquarters did not offer to right the situation in any way. I do a lot of cuisines out of Galveston, TX but will never stay at this hotel again. Disappointed honeymooners....

"Needs work"

This has to be the worst best western I have ever stayed at. There are a lot of updating and repairs needed at this hotel. When you walk in you think wow this is nice. Then we went to room. There are a lot of repairs needed in the rooms. We was staying in a jacuzzi room and there was caulking everywhere. It seemed ok at first till I started looking around more. The bathtub in our room had the shelf pulled off so there was no place to put soaps and wash cloth. The towel rack was coming off the wall and again caulking everywhere and it was done poorly. The jacuzzi was leaking from faucet told them as soon as we checked in. When filling tub it was slow. Figured out why slow and dripping on second night. Went to turn off water and the handle came off. No one had tools to tighten. Had to go out to my truck to get tools to fix my own room. Problem was this was probably going on a long time because the post on faucet was worn down so much it wouldn't tighten. We got moved to another room but it wasn't a jacuzzi room. Pool very small but ok to get wet if no one was out there. Problem with pool was the slime on the waterfall and the ladder to get out was broken so you had to go to shallow end to get out. This is a major safety hazard as if some who couldn't swim fell in they couldn't get out by ladder. The return covers on bottom of pool stuck out about 2" off the floor of the pool. The best thing here was the staff was very friendly and they did help me out due to inconvenience. Breakfast was so so.

Air-condition went out in the middle of the night.. TV was not working in the entire hotel. Towels were rough and few were provided. Access on and off freeway was difficult. Breakfast choices were minimal.

"Best place to stay for the price"

We booked this hotel before we went on our cruise on July 24th. The staff was great, I think her name was Amanda she went out of her way to do small stuff to make out stay even better such as make cookies for us when all was gone. Hotel is close to eating places, a Walmart is near by, we made several trips to pick up last min items. Only 15 mins to the cruise port.

"Exactly what you'd expect"

Last minute getaway to the ocean. It was a good price for a quick stay. The room was ok. Seriously, exactly what you would expect it to be. The breakfast buffet was really quite good - more than just continental, there were eggs and meats, too. Not to mention, the guy who was working to restock the buffet was soooo nice! Really, just a friendly fella. I have read some reviews complaining about this place but my experience didnt convey any of that. I stayed with my daughter and we were both safe and comfortable. Most of the hotels near the ocean are either really expensive or really cruddy - this fell perfectly in between.

"Dirty, smoky, unsafe room"

Although the price was average, the room smelled like smoke; there was no clock, phone, ice bucket, a shower cap was over the smoke detector. The Breakfast room was dirty, with scramble egg on the floor. The cabinet had pancake mix spills, the tables had syrup, crumbs, spills.

One of our party found a bag of marijuana in their room. Their room smelled of smoke and when they gave them a new room, which was nice, they found it sitting by the coffee pot. Our room smelled musty too. Also they charged us for two rooms and we only had one. Giving them time to make it right them I am calling my credit card company to dispute.

"pit stop for the Breeze"

great place to stay if you want to make a stop before you get on the Carnival ship or any other ship. About a 20 min drive to the port. They do not transport you there keep that in mind. close to food as well

We stayed here one night awaiting our cruise the next day. It is only like 20 minutes from Galveston. We arrived late, checked in, and went to our room. I asked Britney when breakfast ended and she said 10:00am. Our room was nice and we had a good nights sleep. The next morning we go downstairs around 8:53am to get breakfast and there was nothing left and what was left was being thrown away. I looked at the sign and it said breakfast ends at 10:00am on Sundays. Confused, we went up to the front desk and they said breakfast was over. We inquired about the sign, which clearly it ends at 10:00am on Sundays. The front desk clerk mentioned that the sign the wrong closest to the breakfast area and that the one by the front desk was correct. No apologies were made and I mentioned that they need to remove the wrong sign since it confused people. The front desk clerk was indifferent and the man throwing away the food could have offered what was left to us but they didn't care. That's ok, never again will I stay here. Note to management: hire front desk clerks that care about people since you are in the hospitality business!!! Also, hire more people because it sounds like you are severely understaffed!!!!!!

Upon our arrival clerk informed me my credit card had been rejected, even while I had card rep on phone telling me I had zero balance and no rejection. Janitor was behind her and noticed not my card she was talking about!! Room had not been cleaned properly(some sort of cotton stuffing and price tags from clothing on floor), room had a bad odor, bathroom sink fixture leaked every time you used it. All outside trash containers and ashtrays filled to overflow. "Free breakfast" was under stocked, area filthy (tables not cleaned, waffle batter all over the place, refrigerator smelled of sour milk), no plates, silverware, many breakfast items allowed to run out. First and last time I will use this or any other Best Western venue. The only reason this one is still in business is the access to Port of Galveston cruise crowd. I tried to get something on Galveston Island and even back in December everything full.

The rooms were an average room. The bed was really comfortable. The front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. The maid staff was a different story. One was in the hall fighting with her significant other on the phone and cursing. We came back to our room after a long day at the beach to find no towels or anything replenished. It makes me wonder how well they actually clean the rooms.

Descent Stay,Housekeeping could be improved. There was a 18month clothing sticker on the floor when we arrived and my child 17. It was so big unsure how housekeeping missed it. Overall, descent stay for one night. We asked for extra towels they were brought up right away. Customer Service from front desk and Housekeeping receive 5 Stars. I recommend better cleaning and the elevators smelled awful. If they fix those minors really a good stay.

Really affordable but clean hotel. It included wifi and a hot breakfast -- waffles, yogurt, toast, some sausage, eggs (if you can get it fast enough), coffee, etc. It wouldn't call it delicious, but perfectly acceptable. We stayed for one night during a holiday and noticed the same two nice people working day and night. They looked exhausted. I hope they got overtime. While one of the rooms we booked was supposed to be a double, that pair (mother and grown son) was given a king. It was a manageable inconvenience. When we checked in the lobby area looked great. We parked right up front. There was not a luggage cart available so we had to carry all our luggage in. (3 trips) We decided to go out for dinner and when we came back and went to park I had to get out and pick up beer bottles out of the parking lot to be able to park. All the trash can were full and the dumpster was overflowing. Trash was scattered all around the hotel. Inside there were three cart full of trash left in the hall way of the floor we were staying on that stunk up the whole floor. I went to give my 2 year old a bath and when I turned on the bathroom light there were roaches in my bathroom. I killed one and took it down the the front desk to show them what was in my room. I was not offered another room. The lady at the front desk stated she would take care of my bill. When I went to check out after being up all night cause i kept seeing bugs on the walls i noticed my room was only discounted 40 bucks. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

we flew into Houston/ Hobby and stayed in this place before going to Galveston due to check in time was not until the next day. easy on and off the freeway. friendly counter people, easy check out. room was very nice. some good restaurants very close.

Reservation was for two beds only had one bed. When I asked for a different room was told that this was the only room available that was left. The breakfast was horrible no fruit and the pastries were stale. We were told that the morning delivery was not made. dirty shower and had to ask 4 times for more towels. 4 people in room only two towels provided. Under staffed and over booked.

Discarded toilet paper roll under the bathroom counter and an apple on the floor next to the bed gave credibility to the feeling of being unclean. The fridge in the room was so loud I had to unplug it to get some sleep. I didn't even want to check out the breakfast. No to-go lids for coffee seemed pretty lame. Location is just off the highway, but quiet so I'll give a star for that.

The hotel was clean and is fairly close to Galveston. There are some food spots around the hotel so you don't have to go far. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again if I needed to.

Room dirty and not thoroughly cleaned in a long time (Bib cobweb by door). Used soap left in bathroom. No one at check-in desk at night for over 20 minutes. Pillows were lumpy. Breakfast was the only redeeming point.

There is pretty much one woman running the entire hotel. There's a obvious shortage of staff. The pool looks good but haven't gone in. The lobby is nice but the furniture is very dusty. It's across the way from an outlet mall, but it's not much else around.

We used this hotel as a stopping point the day before we were to leave for a cruise. This was the poorest experience I've ever had at a Best Western. Check in was quick and easy, then it went downhill from there. When we got to our room it smelled awful and one of the beds was not made and it appeared there was make-up all over the sheets and pillow case. We called the desk to report this and the lady that checked us in said someone would be right up to take care of the issue. That someone was the same lady! She was very apologetic and quickly made up the bed with new sheets (which were fresh out of the dryer, still warm). She was the best thing about our stay probably. The next morning we went down to breakfast to find there were no eggs, no milk and no utensils other than knives to eat with! I got the very last of the waffle batter (which I chose to give to a young child who was in line behind me). There was no one tending to the breakfast area so I went to the desk clerk and asked if we could at least get some utensils. The desk clerk apologized and told me that she was supposed to be taking care of the breakfast as well but she was really busy. Apparently one person is all the hotel staffs after 5pm on Fridays! This was also the first weekend of Spring Break week, not a good time to be understaffed. The two ladies that we dealt with the at the front desk were very courteous and helpful. However, one person can only do so much and these two ladies were put in situations that were nearly impossible to manage. We will mark this BW off our list of places to stay during future travel.

Good hotel, staff was nice, facilities were clean. Could use a few more channels on the TV, and there were some pretty noisy patrons hanging out in the Hall. Will be a good location once it gets a few restaurants near by. We ordered pizza, it took about an hour to get to the hotel because they had to drive pretty far. The hotel is not far from Galveston and you can get to the island in about 15 minutes. The hotel is in a refinery town but is far enough away that it is not an eyesore or any kind of a air quality issue. Breakfast had protein, sausage and eggs which is a good change from the standard donut an toast some other hotels offer.

We stayed the night before our cruise was to depart and found his hotel to be very clean and the staff quite efficient. Any issues we had, which were few, were handled quickly. The only derogatory remark I have is the breakfast was not diversified. Same old stuff.

I stayed here over the weekend and overall the stay was ok. It was pretty quiet and the beds were comfortable and clean. When I first walked into the room there was a stale smell. I'm guessing you used to be able to smoke in the rooms. Also my refrigerator had a leak and got an area of the carpet wet and our phone did not work. Lastly, do plan on eating breakfast elsewhere! I would recommend this hotel if you're not planning on spending a lot of time in the room.

My husband and I stayed here the night before our cruise was going to depart in Galveston. Perfect arrangement for a good night's sleep! Reasonably priced and located to a variety of eating places. Very happy with our choice to stay at The Best Western!

This hotel was very quiet and nice. The only complaint was the elevator was broken when were arrived and still the next day although we were promised it would be repaired that night. The breakfast was nothing special.

We stayed at this Best Western location 3 years ago ... Nice breakfast in the mornings; friendly staff. Think the rooms could use a maintenance update! Our toilet "moved" when you sat on it! Close to car rental agency.

Nice Place to stay before or after a cruise. Minute away from the car rental agency, walking distance. Shopping and good restaurants near by. If your cruising, you gotta stay here. Myself, I stay here again.

We checked in on Sunday after a fully booked hotel the night before . Check in its at 3 and we got there at 3 15 or so. They said our room was not ready and that the staff have not worked on it yet . Huh ? It's 3 15 ! It probably isn't the staffs fault since they need more people on staff .. or it could be but either way, management should make several checks on each floor to see the rooms that will be checked in should be ready. To top it all off, the lady said no other room is ready except one. Wow, so not one other room is ready for incoming guests? We waited another 40 minutes before they were done. They did apologize but I was still left jilted. The rooms were dated. Carpets were stained and ceiling in bathroom was flaking off. Beds were ok but the pillows were half the size of a twin pillow. It was bulky and uncomfortable. The room reaked of cigarette smoke. I thought all rooms were nonsmoking but she said they used to have smoking but now they are not so they are trying to clean out the smell. Well didn't smell like they did. I had to febreeze the carpet but it still smelt bad . The hallway carpet had crumbs , and food debris that were not even vacuumed up. I cane at 3 .. so they had time to clean up. Breakfast was not great. There was no french toast as advertised, just waffle maker. No donuts, just bagel and bread. Only orange j u ice and apple .. no cranberries. They place a small amount of butter and cream cheese in a mini fridge but the fridge was dirty at the bottom (yellow stain - don't know what it is). The butter fell through the bottom racks and was not even in the bowl. The temp was not that cold. Just enough cold. Eggs were cold and they had sausage which was a suprise. Three types of cereal and a few packs of oatmeal. Oh and coffee was terrible. Like water .. no flavor. I would not stay here again.

Friendly staff and clean modern rooms, great breakfast. I like the location. I used the fitness room that had all new equipment in it and the holiday decorations were a nice touch. The GM - Devyn was very nice and helpful with all of my questions about the area

We were intending to stay farther away from IH 45 on our trip to the Galveston area, but this hotel caught our eye and we thought we'd give it a try. Room was large, beds comfy, bathroom clean and well-stocked. Hotel was quiet. Only downside was a poor selection of breakfast items, so that we ate elsewhere. That's makes the overall value a little less, since the hotel is a little pricey for the location.

This hotel is very new and is typically very clean as I have stayed her before. The staff is normally very polite with the exception of the women working the front deck when I was checking out who was awful, she was very lazy and clearly hated her job. If it wasn't for her I would have rated this hotel excellent. Oh and also don't drink coffee for the provided coffee pot in the rooms because mine was filthy.

First room given had an unworkable heating system so we were transferred to another room. This room had no towels or wash cloths and we didn't realize it had no shower curtain until the next morning. Someone in house cleaning was not doing their job.

The Best Western in Texas City had extremely pleasant, professional, friendly,& helpful staff members. The continental breakfast was very good experience, especially the bacon & waffles. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was in the area for two nights staying here and as with most Best Western properties it was a nice place. The only issues I had were with accessing the Wi-Fi and the business center computers. Other than that the staff was friendly enough and the property was well maintained and furnished. Food choices in the area are sparse. Gringos was way too crowded and more of a drinking atmosphere. Ryan's buffet is right next door and their is an Olive Garden and Beyond Burgers in the parking lot of the mostly abandoned mall behind the hotel. For a night of fun Gulf Greyhound Park is right across the highway.

This is a great little place to stay in route to the cruise ship port in Galveston. It was inexpensive, clean and quiet. The room was relatively updated. The front office staff was GREAT and very welcoming. The only negative was the breakfast. It could have used a great deal of help.....

Arrived at 1:00pm, was informed they couldn't check-in until 3:00pm. No problem, had some lunch, drove around and looked at some stores. Returned at 2:50pm. The lobby was full of guessts waiting to check in. At 3:00pm check-in commenced. First guest took 10 minutes. The lady at the desk didn't know how to check guests in & had to call another lady. Received key cards at 3:45pm. Exited elevator to face open room, assumed someone had just entered. Turned right to look for our room. Returned back to open room, that was ours. Enter non-smoking room to the smell of cigarettes. Didn't feel it like waiting in line again to request room change & decided to drive to Kemah. On the way out, asked Front Desk to spray room with air freshener. Returned a few hours later, no change. Tried turning on lamp. No bulb. Tried another. No bulb. 5 sockets in the room, only 2 bulbs. No bulb in the reading chair lamp, one side of bed and one side of desk. Lamp shade on other side of bed would fall off without being touched. Finally left it on the floor. Husband opened the mini fridge. It's defrosted and leaking water. What's with the half pillows?! The bed pillows were the size of small throw pillows. If you rolled over you fell off the pillow. We could hear the elevator chime all night and the AC sounded like a running toilet. Cheap attempt to hide drywall damage near the shower. Cheap attempt to update the bathroom mirror frame, paint on the mirror. Didn't want to chance eating breakfast there. The Waffle House nearby was excellent.

I was impressed with this motel considering the price. I am a little 'picky' when it comes to staying in small town motels but I was happy there. The only complaint was that they didn't show me in the room on their computer and gave the room to someone else who tried to get in the late afternoon...luckily I had the latch closed and the person went away. I was rather frightened at first and called the front desk attendant who 'brushed' me off and said it was their fault for not properly entering me in the computer. Oh well other than that it was fine!

Helpful, friendly staff; nice rooms; comfortable bed, good breakfast; my daughter and her fiancé had a suite that was very nice; quick trip to cruise terminal and half the price of a room in Galveston
