Best Western Valley Hotel

We booked this hotel via a SecretEscapes DBB deal and given the star rating, didn't expect a great deal! Rooms Our room was comfortable and clean although a little tired but given only 3* rating that was about right. It's a very old building with some wonky floors so I'm sure renovations can be tricky. Huge great big bed was fab, but pillows a little on the thin side. My standard measure of a hotel room however is the ability to get ready to go out - big tick for light at a table, with a chair, mirror and hairdryer so that you could actually sit down to do hair and makeup. The bathroom was OK, shower over bath, but took a long time for hot water to flow. It could do with a little shelf or two for toiletries and shower gel etc. Windows didn't open easily for fresh air which was needed as the heating was on full blast despite a relatively warm spring day Restaurant Dinner was unexpectedly excellent. My husband had mushroom soup and I chose whipped goats cheese which had all sorts of little flavour bombs on the plate. We paid the premium to upgrade to a steak and I was pleased to have chosen dauphinoise potatoes rather than chips as they were lovely. Finished off with creme brulee and Irish coffee alongside wine which was included in the DBB deal. Breakfast was slightly less impressive but that may be because I was already in a mood about it (see service below). I still managed a diet friendly fruit, yoghurt, toast combo, but the tea was very weak. Service All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. My biggest irk was that we were staying alongside a wedding and there was therefore nowhere to sit in the bar after a long day walking or for pre-dinner drinks. We were also told that they were taking breakfast at 9am so we needed to book for breakfast before that time. Given that this was a dash weekend away, Easter Sunday and following a clock change, I very rather short-changed in being able to get value from the room and the big comfy bed and don't like to have to set an alarm to go for a hotel breakfast! I feel that the breakfast end time of 9.30 should always be later on a Sunday and in any case, extended as a courtesy on clock change weekend! Something had gone awry with the breakfast party for the wedding so we were disrupted in ours by them coming in and out and whinging about the hotel to their guests who were in the wrong room.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea in this dielightful hotel. There were beautiful grounds to walk around leading along the banks of the river Severn. The welcome we recieved was friendly, professional and welcoming. The sandwiches were of varied fillings and served in very generous portions, The scones as light as they should be and the cakes were of equal standard. I thoroughly recommend this as a venue - plus Ironbridge is fabulous to walk around.

What a delightful “ old fashioned hotel” tucked away alongside the River Severn in Ironbridge,with attentive staff, delicious food and tons of character We did an overnight stay with evening dinner and breakfast to celebrate our birthdays. Our evening meal was truly delicious in the intimate Chez Maw restaurant.Steak and Haddock were our main course choices, we both had the wonderful smoked salmon for starters and stickie toffee pudding/Shropshire Cheeseboard were our desserts A beautiful bottle of white wine rounded off the meal and we retired to the delightful bar for a nightcap drink Rooms were comfy with all the usual mod cons and lovely views of the riverside park and the river We went for a short break, but the hotel is really well located for Ironbridge, its riverside walks and many museums A return visit in the summer is on the cards to enjoy the walks and scenery

This hotel is well located, large enough to have good facilities, but not too large to be impersonal. There is plenty to do and visit in the area. The view across the Severn valley from our room was excellent. The Ironbridge Gorge is a hidden gem and the museums are first class.

We stayed here last weekend as wedding guests and was such a lovely stay, the wedding reception was beautiful and food amazing! Service was fantastic!! We had a family executive room and was so spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was also lovely and couldn't fault a thing!! We would certainly look to return. Thank you!

I'd love to give this more stars…. But we just didn't sleep. I know some of this is personal preference but the bed mattress was just too soft and the pillows provided no neck support. For this kind of hotel I'd have expected the finishing touches to have been included, spare pillows, blanket in the wardrobe. Only one small bottle of water provided in the bedroom for two guests I'd expect two. That aside every single member of staff was lovely and that's rare these days! Breakfast was delicious especially the cooked section. We like to return to the area to explore Ironbridge but the beds and the size of the bedroom let it down.

Ironbridge is absolutely gorgeous and well worth the visit. Just stayed 3 nights at Best Western Valley in their car park. £10 per night but you get a £10 per night voucher to use in the restaurant. Our last night we eat in our mh and had 2 takeaway sweets with our voucher. I cannot fault the management or the staff, absolutely 10/10 will defo come back again. Nice and quiet at night, in fact doesn't really get that noisy at all. Highly recommended

We stayed for one night at this wonderful hotel. The hotel is wonderful, friendly attentive staff who go the extra mile, clean well equipped rooms with a great choice at breakfast. The hotel is well situated, beautiful well kept grounds and a lovely welcoming bar, with a short walk to the town along the river bank and the Ironbridge. Many thanks to Chris for making our stay so fantastic, you are an absolute professional and a credit to Best Western hotels.

Just returned from a very enjoyable few days at this hotel. Really enjoyed it! It's in a lovely location right by the river with easy walks into Ironbridge and with lots of other interesting places nearby. The staff are very pleasant and eager to please and the food in the restaurant is excellent! The room was very comfortable and lovely and warm with very comfy beds. There is an excellent buffet breakfast too. Really enjoyed the break!

Had a nights stay at this hotel in an executive room which was spacious & clean, also had breakfast here that was a buffet style with plenty of choice and all fresh and tasty. Our room overlooked the back of the hotel where there is a park & river and it doesn't take long to walk to the Ironbridge where there are a few shops and eating places

This hotel is comfortable, the dinner and the breakfast were good and it's very convenient for visiting the Iron Bridge. My wife and I stayed one night and enjoyed some pleasant walks by the river. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had our wedding here in October 2023, I'm not going to go into too much detail regarding that because I could write a 100 page letter praising everyone involved and I don't have the time, but Lee, Roy, Grace, Lisa, Chris and everyone else involved all went above and beyond to make our day perfect. Mothers Day 2024 meal. The beef was cooked to perfection, amazing value and quality. Nice little touch with a free box of chocolates for the moms!

Sorry to say this must be the worst Best Western I have stayed in,room 14 had got cobwebs in a few places,window didn't shut properly and there was no heating in the bathroom disappointed when paying £100 a night,Breakfast and evening meal was good and staff pleasant all the time,will not be returning.

We only went to this beautiful period hotel on the edge of the river park for a sparkling afternoon tea. The staff we met were lovely helpful and very pleasant. The afternoon was one of the best we've had and the prosecco tasted better than what you're usually offered. We loved the hotel and surroundings that we're looking to enjoy a weekend break in the near future.

Another good stay. We choose to stay in room 24. Whilst it's internal we like it. Well laid. Only downside is the weak shower. Nice breakfast. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Plenty of onsite parking. 10 minute stroll into Ironbridge.

Lovely hotel. Clean rooms, decent size towels and comfortable bed. Good breakfast, plenty of choice. Evening meals were excellent too, served by pleasant organised staff. One little niggle, the floorboards of the bedroom above us were very noisy and woke us up at 5 each morning. Easy walk into town. We would stay again.

Stayed at The Valley Hotel, Ironbridge for one night. It was as surprise 90th Birthday Dinner for my husband for 14 family members. From the time we booked and arranged the dinner staff went out of their way to be helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They even played along with us to keep the surprise. The dinner took place in the Jackfield Room. Staff were very professional but friendly. The food was amazing, well prepared and presented. All rooms were very clean and comfortable. Ironbridge a UNESCO World Heritage Site has so much to see and do. Would certainly choose this venue again.

Beautiful room, cleanest bathroom I have ever seen and so quiet I thought they must be fairly empty so was surprised by how many people there were at breakfast. I enjoyed a full English of my choice due to the buffet style self service breakfast which was regularly topped up, so no waiting around to fill my plate. Really friendly , happy staff who were readily available. This was a night away to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary (we had our wedding reception there all those years ago) and it lived up to expectations and beyond. Will be going back and would definitely recommend as a base for those from further afield looking to explore Ironbridge and Shropshire.

The hotel is ideally situated. My room was clean and comfortable. I slept well also which is what you want went staying away from home. The staff at the hotel are friendly and inviting, having visited neighbour hotels where the staff aren't so friendly, rather robotic, staff were pleasant and welcoming here.

Stayed here while working at Telford. Hotel is really really nice with exceptional staff. As I was leaving early in the morning ( pre 7am) they even ensured that my breakfast was ready at 6:45am. The restaurant was also excellent - the food was fantastic The room was very nice with all the amenities you require. I stayed in January. With the grounds at the front by the river, the setting would be fantastic in the summer Thank you all for a fantastic stay

I have been here before a number of years ago, it looks tired, in places. Staff are polite and eager to please. On first night fire alarm went off early hours of the morning there was no organisation with the night staff no apologies, no explation but a free cup of coffee and tea. I don't think I would stay here again there are nicer B& B up the road

Excellent value for money. Ideally situated for Ironbridge. Very easy to walk to the main street. Lovely tasty buffet breakfast. Staff regularly refilled the items. Nice bar area and outdoor space, which I am sure would be fab to sit in during warmer weather. Had a lovely time

A stunning hotel with many original features. Really clean and welcoming with ample car parking. The staff are really friendly and there is a great bar with a good selection of drinks. Our room was lovely and very comfortable and clean with good facilities. Breakfast was good quality and provided a good selection. Overall a great experience.

Great stay at this hotel as always . Staff are friendly , welcoming and helpful . Our meals were good too , and our 16 month old great grandaughter was well provided for . Valley hotel is always our first choice of places to stay on our regular visits to Ironbridge .

Very good helpful staff comfortable bed a beautiful place too stay the staff are amazing wedding venue if you have any loved ones that want a romantic setting for their wedding to capture the spirit of the day then look no further the could also take pictures in the lovely garden area as well as at the iron bridge and in the village it's your loved ones will have a truly amazing experience

I would just like to thank all the staff at the Valley hotel who made our stay really special, nothing was too much trouble for them. The location of the hotel was excellent and the rooms were well decorated and spotlessly clean. The evening meal we had in the hotel was really nice and the breakfasts had a great choice and very tasty. It really was a weekend to remember.

We stopped one night on our way to visit family in Cumbria. I'd visited Ironbridge a couple of times for work so it was great to get a chance to see it rather than the hotel four walls. Location is great, just a short walk to the famous Iron Bridge and there are lovely walks in the countryside we might try next time. Food in the hotel looked good but we decided to eat out just because we were already in town. Room was lovely but we had an issue with the drains in the sink and bath. Staff were really accommodating and came straight up to the room and offered us a different room but as ours was the last room with a king size bed available we opted to stay (my partner takes over a double and I end up on the floor!) The hotel were great and gave us access to another room for bathing/showering purposes (I wanted to sleep there but my partner wouldn't let me) Breakfast was lovely and the hotel let us leave the car in the car park so we could wander around a bit more. I would definitely go back and also recommend the hotel.

Extremely hot and intolerably noisy experience. No air conditioning and had to sleep with window open. Disco music and loud conversation until 2.30am. I would never recommend booking this hotel. No prior warning that the hotel was fully booked for a wedding function

We stay in many different places when we meet up with friends but have ended up staying here the most. Beautiful location on the banks of the river Severn in Irongorge valley - the town itself is like being in a bit of a time warp! We go out exploring every day and come back to what feels like a welcoming home. Always somewhere to sit and lounge - inside and out - always great service from all the staff -Management to cleaners - we speak to them all. they have always gone the extra mile to make our stay an enjoyable one. We've gone Dinner bed and Breakfast recently and the evening meals have been superb - the steaks are great and worth the supplement. This has become our go-to hotel as it just suits us and how we like to stay and relax.

Excellent position within easy walking distance of the town, set in very nice gardens (at the rear) our room looked out over the park and river to the gorge on the opposite bank absolutely beautiful. Room was a good size with a huge bed, very clean, likewise the bathroom. Breakfast good, all staff we met were pleasant and helpful.

Have just spent an evening at The Chez Maw restaurant the service we have received from the waiting staff was excellent a special mention to Lilly, Mel and Mason and management Lee and Chris for making our evening special. Thank you Isaac for the lovely food highly recommend. Looking forward to our next visit.

A beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings with well tended gardens leading down to the river. In a very peaceful setting yet just a short walk along the river into the town of Ironbridge. The hotel was full of character and I'm glad to say retained many of its period features, the breakfast was fantastic and we will definitely be visiting again soon!

The staff were lovely and the location superb. The restaurant was very good. Our room was internal (set within what must have been a courtyard) so it was a little too warm for us to sleep well, and there was no wifi signal so the phone app that plays ocean noises didn't work either. I imagine some of the rooms would have been much more comfortable.

Excellent hotel with a beautiful setting next to the river and great people made our daughter's wedding day extra special. The weather was on our side for an outdoor ceremony. All should check this out before you book your wedding Thank you all

Wonderful staff friendly and welcoming, excellent restaurant food which was delicious, a great place to stay with comfy rooms,. Would recommend a stay. We will be returning in the future. There were issues with their wifi connections but beyond hotels control.

Impressive grounds/building - main areas clean & nicely decorated - room disappointing - small - dingy - didn't look anything like pictures on website - didn't feel fresh -bath with weak pressure shower over - food pretty good & bar offering good selection - staff friendly & helpful - fire evacuation not good when alarm went off at 1am

The staff were fantastic, place was clean and well maintained. The rooms were clean and all bedding and linnen was crisp and clean. Breakfast was delicious and the morning staff were very welcoming. Highly recommend to friends and family

Enjoyed our three night stay here. Staff very welcoming. We had one of the standard double rooms. It was very warm with a very hot bathroom but was clean and comfortable despite the heat. We made use of the fan in bedroom. This is the only reason I'm not giving full marks. Good breakfast and the restaurant is highly recommended. Staff are great!

Excellent hotel and facilities, hotel staff were very accommodating and made my stay with two children very welcoming. Beautiful area to explore with a great location and gardens. Food (Dinner and Breakfast) and room was amazing.

Apart from being woken early morning by a delivery and the internet dropping out regularly, the visit was good. Room clean and good selection at breakfast. Excellent location for visiting the Ironbridge.

Would thoroughly recommend staying here as it is within walking distance of most of the visitor attractions. Staff are very helpful & we really enjoyed the breakfasts. The rooms are also comfortable & well maintained so we had a good night's sleep ready for all the walking round Ironbridge!

Always wanted to visit Ironbridge so booked in this hotel. We arrived early but very helpful receptionist gave us a map, some ideas etc and loaned us a brolly. Ironbridge was superb, didn't see as much as we wanted to due to inclement weather. Arrived back at hotel, checked in, up to room which was perfectly adequate for our needs, came down for an afternoon coffee , then got changed for dinner. From walking into the bar area, to having the meal, and a drink after, the staff couldn't have been more helpful ! Special mentions to Lee, Sarah, Lily, and Evie. Excellent breakfast next morning, table served and not the usual buffet style, the 2 breakfast girls were equally efficient. All in all, an excellent stay at a very friendly and quite unique hotel- you wont be disappointed !

Noisy, cramped and cooked breakfast looks like yesterday's leftovers. Dungeon room beside car park ensuring all engine starts and horn toots are fully enjoyed. Bring earplugs, or better still, stay elsewhere.

Hotel is very well positioned for exploring the Ironbridge area. It is comfortable and has pleasant public rooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The standard rooms are fairly basic but comfortable.

A very comfortable, well equipped welcoming hotel, wonderfully located for visiting this area (a much better option than, for example, Telford). Highly recommended. (should you be in an electric car, they have a very good chargong point - but be sure to reserve it with the hotel, as thete are the usual dumb people who just use it as a parking space especially a cycling group van)

We loved The Valley 15 years ago when we married and loved our stay just as much this weekend. We were treated like the bride and groom all over again with first class service from start to finish. The Chez Maw restaurant is amazing including first quality and service. Every staff member has time and ability to have a chat and ask you about your stay. Another memorable occasion marked at The Valley.

Spent 2 nights in a standard double, with breakfast and evening meal. Food was lovely, staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel grounds are well kept and backs onto a park by the river. It's only a 10 minute walk to the bridge and the shops, so ideal if you don't want to drive. There are quite a few steps so a bit tough on old joints. There's free WiFi but signal strength was pretty bad and had to go outside to get a signal to contact work. Apart from that, I had no complaints.

Late booking a 3 night stay with wife in Ironbridge, fortunately booked with The Valley Hotel who managed to change a few bookings to get us a room we didn't need to change over the 3 day stay. Loved the restaurant as food well in excess of expectations especially for my Vegetarian wife. A great location backing on down to the river and easily walking to the centre of Ironbridge. Plenty of good car parking space. Absolutely nothing to fault at all.

Attractive hotel, very well situated with easy riverside walk into Ironbridge centre. Quiet and peaceful. Good service, excellent breakfast. Restaurant looked nice but we ate locally due to lack of suitable table times. Used the bar however and that was cosy. Would happily stay here again.

The hotel is situated near the river and we'll keep park. The staff are friendly and polite and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. Would recommend that you eat in the hotel's restaurant as the food is fresh and tasty. We had a superior room four poster bed well decorated and all the amenities. Returning again in March 2023. It's a nice walk into Ironbridge through the park.

Lovely hotel in good position for seeing Ironbride and visiting all the different museums. Right by river a few pubs and shops. Hotel staff very welcoming and friendly. Food in restaurant very good. We paid extra for a executive room, no lift and 2 staircases very large spotless room.

My husband surprised me with a 2 night stay at the Best Western Valley hotel, we arrived around 4pm to a very welcoming Receptionist, my husband had checked us in on line so we just got our keys, ask for a menu to look at and we booked breakfast. Our room was a standard room but was clean and comfortable and warm. Looked at menu then decided to have a drink in the bar which was quiet and again another friendly member of staff. Had our drink booked dinner for the evening and went back to room. Later on we went to Restaurant for dinner, the staff were once again lovely and friendly the food was absolutely fabulous, we was so impressed with it, so tasty, perfect, it was right up there on the scales, we enjoyed it so much we booked for the following evening. In the morning we went for breakfast, my husband is Coeliac and the chef cooked his breakfast for him, it was help yourself and was hot and you could have as much as you like. Again very friendly staff. Evening meal was once again fab, I couldn't make my mind up on starters as I had enjoyed the previous nights meal so much so I had 2 starters. The menu prices were not expensive for what you get. We also received a free bottle of wine which we had with our first nights meal. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to going again in the not to distant future. It far exceeded our expectations, thank you to all the lovely, friendly staff.

Absolutely fantastic wedding venue. We got married yesterday and Roy & Grace went out of their way to make our day beautiful and it was. We are really glad we picked this beautiful hotel,It's faultless! We will be back to stay over and reminisce about our day. Guests complimented how beautiful the setting was and how brilliant the staff are. We were lucky enough to have Snow/Ice and it looked stunning outside, we have some truly beautiful photos. Once again thankyou so much!

Lovely hotel, in beautiful surrounding. We stayed in this hotel for a wedding. Room was spotlessly clean and had everything in you needed. We found the room to be cold, radiator was not on but in fairness we did not ask as reception about, so perhaps something could have been done. The pillows were of poor quality so not a good night sleep, it stated in the guest book that extra pillows were on top of the wardrobe, but we had none. The room for the wedding reception was beautifully decorated and we found all the staff to be very polite and friendly. Breakfast was great, something for everyone. Would stay here again, but perhaps in the summer.

5 stars from me …the most wonderful staff.. Cris ,Roy ,Lee Lisa and the team … We got married at the valley in April.. The teams approach to making our day so very special was exemplary. From start to finish everything was magical well organised in an extremely professional framework. The team are very experienced and dedicated ,continuity was obvious. I decided to book a Christmas party on the 9th of December and again what fantastic service and food ,from start to finish we had hands on service. Value for money !! Most definitely for £35 we had a three course meal and a boogie nights disco with tea and coffee included… the meal was extremely high quality with those extra touches like a side of pears in port with Christmas pudding made it all so very special and posh .There was a team of staff looking after us and all the management staff on the floor supporting them Roy Lee Chris thank you very much we loved it Sharon and the Myford gang

Very disappointing stay. There was a wedding reception being held at the hotel. Whilst I of course understand the importance of the wedding being perfect for the wedding party, this was to the detriment of all other guests. We weren't allowed to use the bar because the wedding party were in there for what I presume was pre dinner drinks. We had just arrived and wanted a drink to start our night away off. We had a coffee in reception..might as well have drunk it in our room as there was no atmosphere whatsoever. We were then told the only time we could have breakfast was 8.30am-on a Sunday. My husband said it was too early. He was told we couldn't have breakfast at any other time ‘due to the wedding'. We were then reluctantly offered 9.30am..this was a bit late but never mind. Point is, there should be a breakfast window for a guest to come down to breakfast. Our friends turned up for breakfast at 9am and got told off!! And then when we arrived for breakfast the wedding party were having theirs in another room anyway! The hotel should not accommodate weddings if they don't have the room or staff available to cater for both the wedding and other guests. OR to be pre-warned. The male receptionist checking us out asked if everything had been ok. My husband said no and explained why. He was apologetic and offered a token gesture which was nice. But unfortunately, due to the way we were treated, we will not ever stay again.

Lovely staff. Fantastic restaurant. Beautifully cooked food and lovely menu. Bed was HUGE and very comfortable. Good internet access. Lots of plug sockets. Lots of parking available. Great location in easy reach of centre of Ironbridge. Was a little cold in the hotel, but it has been a sudden cold spell and fuel prices are crazy.

A very lovely stay at The Valley. I was a solo traveller but was made to feel welcome and was given advice on places to visit! Food delicious, breakfast, small choice and not very warm but service was good! A very lovely location and plenty of parking which helps!

had a very pleasant weekend stay, perfect location for local sightseeing. Rooms very clean and nicely furnished. The hotel is really nice but the staff could not possibly be better. Everyone was just so friendly and helpful. Have to say a special thank you to Aidan who looked after us for drinks and food in such a professional and outstanding manner. We will definitely return again. Highly recommend.

Lovely one night stay for a wedding. Room was lovely apart from being cold on the afternoon. Spotlessly clean. The bed was really comfy, but could have done with an extra pillow, no extra in the wardrobe. Grounds are beautiful. Breakfast next morning was perfect. Will definitely go back

My husband and I loved the feel of the Best Western Valley Hotel when we viewed venues for our special day last year. Little did we know how much we would need their professional expertise and calm support when our bridal suppliers failed to turn up leaving me without hairdresser and makeup artist on the morning of my wedding. Without Julie, Louise, Grace, Lee, Roy and the rest of the team our wedding day would have been ruined. Louise the receptionist who I requested help from remained calm sent me back to my room and said she would let me know if she could find someone local to come out to us. She just happened to be a make up artist, checked she was allowed to offer support and made my make up look far better than I could ever have imagined. Julie, the lady who welcomed me and served breakfast an hour earlier then came to my room and offered to do our hair. She was meant to be setting up the ceremony room but as calm as anything she pulled off 4 amazing hairstyles. I can only imagine Grace and the rest of the team frantically rallying together with now 2 staff down in my room trying to make sure the venue was all set up ready for our wedding. If I wasn't telling this story here none of my guests would have known as I was only 10 minutes late to say I do. So, facilities, rooms, food and location make a hotel nice but a team of staff who pulled off what they did yesterday (19/11/2022) make it special. I will never forget what they did for me Thank you all at the Valley Hotel Ironbridge as you are all super hero's

I used this as a base for a workshop weekend. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view. The staff are lovely and very helpful when I ate in the restaurant on Sunday night and really enjoyed the food especially the dessert which was delicious

Very clean and comfortable room and a good size. Could do with losing the old gas filled light bulbs which are inefficient and take a loneg to time reach full brightness. Nice gardens allowing you to walk down to the river. Excellent resturant with a lovely even ing meal, good choices.

This is a well situated hotel for Iron bridge and surrounding areas .(.the trip was a gift from one of our children.)..the hotel and staff are lovely.....lovely and clean..smelt good too....I high We highly recommend staying here

Stayed recently with friends. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Rooms were perfectly acceptable for a short stay and beds were comfortable and hospitality tray well stocked and very much appreciated. Breakfast was good and hot food regularly replenished. Our evening meals were well cooked and the service was friendly and efficient. Public areas are clean and well furnished. This hotel is in a good position for all Iron Bridge has to offer and there are shops and eating places near at hand. The hotel grounds lead down to the Severn, with pretty walks along the river. Altogether a restful break in pleasant surroundings. Recommended.

We stayed just one night. Hotel proved handy for walks along the banks of the River Severn and for visiting the iron bridge in Ironbridge. The room was a bit basic but comfortable, but the food and service were excellent. Public areas pleasantly decorated.

Excellent value for our Special 3 night deal, bed, breakfast and evening meal. Everywhere very clean and warm rooms. Dinner each evening exceptionally good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel has lovely patio gardens backing onto a forest park area alongside the river for a pleasant short walk into town with individual shops, coffee shops and restaurants and the famous red Ironbridge.

Came here after my cousins funeral, beautiful setting in stunning Ironbridge, staff were wonderful and very accommodating,food was really good too, not a great day for obvious reasons but the hotel made it more bearable, would love to pop down for a weekend at some point in different circumstances.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was large and very comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel surroundings were very pleasant and so near to all the amenities in Iron Bridge. I would definitely stay there again.

The Best Western Valley Hotel proved to be an excellent choice for our visit to historic Shropshiore; The hotel was axcellently located in the river valley leading to the historic Iron Bridge. In all departments the staff were excellent, efficient, courteous and a pleasure to encounter, The menues were first class and the preparation\\presentation of all food was top level.

A really interesting building in beautiful grounds and a great base from which to see the fascinating town and attractions of Ironbridge. Staff are brilliant. You could faintly hear some music from a function downstairs so might be worth asking for a room in the right area if that bothers you.

This was to be a big birthday celebration so we booked the Executive room, this really should at best be described as a large standard room - very tired showing incredible lack of attention to detail - black tape on view holding the carpet together, poor pillows dirty and wafer thin, a large bug found in my bed, also doors with cheap external locks on view - the refurbed bathroom had a toilet seat that was not straight all in all a disaster, the stairwells carpets were worn and ripped in places, the management said we could move to another room but this was impossible as the rooms were not available until 11 a.m. obviously i would have checked it out first but we were on the road sight seeing by 9 a.m. In conclusion a very tired hotel okay for a cheap overnight stay but ours was a two night stay in some sort of luxury, The breakfast was of a good quality but with not a lot of choice -

Clearly from other reviews plenty of guests are very happy. However I think the staff do a great job with poor facilities. The walls of my room were paper thin and so was kept awake late and woken early. I couldn't believe how loud the water pipes were and the sound of guests next door flushing their loos. Low power electric shower with rose that had been renewed but didn't fit in the holder. Hot tap turned on/off the wrong way so was loose in the basin. No loo brush. The positives: comfortable mattress, clean room, friendly staff, nice towels. Take earplugs!

We stayed here with some Aussie friends and we all agree that it is a super hotel. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very helpful. It is perfectly situated for visiting the museums and the Iron Bridge. This was the second time we have stayed at the hotel and this was even better. It is great to stay at a hotel which can set an example to other, more expensive "international"ones.

I stayed here on a 5 day/ 4 nights stay with Eastons Coaches of Norfolk. THe hotel has excellent staff- so friendly and attentive. The food - Half Board- Breakfast and Evening Meal. I thought all the meals were very good -3 courses !. Good choice of food on the menus. The hotel is set in grounds with a terrace and backs onto a park and the river Severn. Only 10/15 minutes to the town and the Iron Bridge and other sights. Really convenient. My room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Slightly old fashoned furnishings but not a worry. Would recommend staying here as the staff are great !

This is a beautiful hotel a short walk from the centre of Ironbridge. We requested a change of room a short time after arriving and this was immediately acknowledged. The hotel has lovely grounds and you can walk down through the park by the side of the river Seven to the centre of Iron bridge. The car park has ample safe space for all the guests . The staff are very professional , polite and helpful. The breakfasts are very good with plenty of choice. This has been one of the best hotels we have stayed in and we recommend it to anyone wanting a good experience.

Was downgraded when I got there to a standard room when booked an executive room. The room was very old and dated and smelled. Water leaked through the ceiling on the stairs which they are aware off says it happens when someone has a shower. Would not stay here again

Pleasant stay at an endearing (listed) old building where there is a lot to like and which has the potential to be much more. Good car parking with attractive grounds leading down to the river, very convenient for a walk into town. Clean functional bedrooms with large comfortable bed etc. Service was friendly and food was of good value. Parts of the building are magnificent such as the tiled staircase although the decor of the public rooms (Restaurant and Bar) was uninspiring with the wooden floors and tables reminding me of being in a village hall.

Set in a lovely location with wonderful staff… the hotel is tired and in need of some TLC. Here's a list of bad things: 1. The stairs to rooms 1 to 14 are unsuitable for people with mobility issues. They are narrow, uneven and have worn away in the middle! 2. Our room was an ‘executive room'. This is just poor marketing. There was nothing executive about it and was identical to the room next to it. 3. No air conditioning in the rooms but there are dated fans 4. Beds are incredibly uncomfortable. Decades old spring mattresses that may as well be concrete. 5. In the room, the TV was plugged in to a 4 way multi switch from the 90s. This arced when I plugged my phone charger in and I don't think has a PAT sticker on it 6. The bathroom requires redecorating and the toilet is uncomfortable to sit on 7. The provided towels are threadbare 8. Water was leaking in the hallway. Staff were told but said ‘oh this is just someone having a shower in the room' 9. Room keys aren't great. Work on the third go! Here's the good stuff: 1. Beautiful hotel (outside of the rooms) 2. Beautiful grounds and setting 3. East to get to 4. Well placed for the sights 5. Staff are lovely and can't do enough for you Given that the primary reason for staying in a hotel is a comfortable nights sleep, this hotel fails on that.

Fabulous staff at this hotel, and the food is outstanding. If you appreciate decent service, friendly and caring staff who treat each other like their second family and that shines through in their service to customers, and look for fine dining dinner experience thrown in, then come to stay here. Another fantastic meal with brilliant staff. Set in the beautiful valley of Ironbridge - one of our favourite all time places to visit. Although we are local we visit often - because its so lovely! Very lucky to have this on our doorstep.

We had a lovely stay at the Best Western Valley hotel excellent customer service. Breakfast great choice on offer. Will definitely will visit again lots of lovely places to visit lovely towns and villages nearby.

Stayed two nights as a solo guest in a standard double room. A lovely building in a delightful location. Ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Most impressed with evening meals. Will return. Staff were most welcoming and pleasant. Overall, a very good experience in an interesting area of Shropshire.

We arrived for a two night stay and was greeted professionally. Our room was lovely and the meals we had both nights were cooked to perfection. The venue is one we've visited a few times before and is located really close to all Ironbridge has to offer. The staff are the greatest asset to this hotel. Cannot speak highly enough. We will always come back as what's not to like.

We stayed for a wedding on 27th August. Nothing, absolutely nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff we came across. Chris especially was very accommodating and did an amazing job with organising the day and anything asked of him was met with a professional and friendly manner. The food was absolutely amazing and everyone said so and catering for allergens was also no trouble, they went above and beyond. The rooms, hotel and outdoor grounds were exceptional. We stayed at hotel for family wedding. Nothing was too much trouble. Service was great. Food was excellent. Staff are lovely. Rooms were nice we had air conditioning in ours, which was needed as room we in no windows to out side.

Attended here on 27th August 2022 for my best friends wedding. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived with a glass of bubbly/beer or soft drinks. Very organised. Service outside .... overlooking a stunning view. Drinks reasonably priced. Wedding breakfast was absolutely lovely and served hot. We didn't stay for the Evening but thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Reception ordered us a taxi and it arrived within minutes. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone. Perfect

This is a super hotel set in a park a very short walk from Ironbridge's shops and eateries. Plenty of free parking, very friendly staff, good size well-furnished rooms with a generous supply of tea/coffee etc.

Lovely setting for a wedding especially as weather was so good. Everything was well organised and paced. Good lovely and allergens well catered for. It was a particularly hot weekend and some rooms could of benefited from air conditioning or extra fans as there was no air to keep cool.

We were out in a room so small you could barely walk around the double bed. Nowhere to put bags. In addition we couldn't leave windows open as at ground floor anyone could easily climb in. Would definitely not stay here again.

The hotel was lovely place to stay to have our wedding day. It was amazing day. Staff was very attentive and made our day very special. We had a lovely stay. The views was lovely. Can't wait to visit again. Definitely recommend to anyone.

We have been here several times to sit outside with our dog and enjoy an afternoon drink. we popped here on Thurs Aug 10th at 2:20 I remained in outdoor seating area with our spaniel puppy and my husband went to get our drinks - he rand the bell on the bar (as usual) and waited and waited and waited after pressing bell (sign told him to press bell and member of staff will be with you promptly). Or words to that effect. He did ring bell a couple of times ( I was chatting away with the gardener outside) at 2:20 my husband had had enough of waiting and lack of prompt service that we left. In his words we took our money elsewhere and headed to the malthouse in Ironbridge for a much more prompt and welcoming service.

Perfect place to chill the breakfast was excellent,the dinner was really good and reasonable priced the room we had was small but had everything we wanted and very clean all the staff were efficient and friendly ,in a very central position will hope to get back one day and will definitely stay there .

Hotel is set in beautiful gardens overlooking the Severn Gorge. A great place to stay and visit the many Ironbridge museums there. Room was satisfactory but the all staff were excellent - helpful, friendly and attentive. Restaurant was very good - value for money and quality- for both evening meal and breakfast

We spent two days in the Ironbridge gorge sampling the history, food, beer and scenery. The hotel was perfectly situated for access to the town and walks by the river. We visited two museums and enjoyed walking in the surrounding hills. We will return as there is still so much to see.

We stayed here for a couple of nights as a base to explore the Ironbridge area. Good location with ample car parking and a lovely river walk in to the village. Gardens are well kept and plesant to sit in. The standard room we opted for was ample but slightly dated and could have benefited from a good deep clean. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the dining facilities are brilliant. Fantastic breakfast and the evening restaurant is to die for. Lovely visit and would definately book in here again.

We decided to use this hotel for our wedding venue and straight from the start I knew we were in safe hands. All the way through the process, we were kept up to date with any concerns and our dedicated wedding planner was awesome. She answered all questions promptly and reassured us accordingly. On the big day itself, Chris was a diamond, helping us in the background for timings and where should be. Staff were programs courteous to our guests and the food served during the day was top notch. We really couldn't think of anything on a negative note. Location of the hotel was ideal with lovely gardens, clean and well equipped rooms and tasty breakfast served hot and fresh in the bar area. Top marks to everyone working at the hotel and we couldn't have asked for a better service during our stay.

Clean room and comfortable bed. Good full English breakfast.Good variety of breakfast well presented. Pleasant staff. Nice gardens and great location. A bit dated and tired looking rooms but clean and comfortable. Lot's of stairs to carry your luggage up though.

We can't speak too highly about service facilities.You can go there knowing the fine service you will get.Set in lovely gardens & patio area at front of hotel. At the bottom of garden is a huge park and river along. The only draw back from my point as i was in wheel chair you can not get down to park although i believe you can get down by another route. We used lift to bedroom and huge disabled bathroom.

A wonderful two night stay for a wedding. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious. Top notch quality and good service. Special shout out to Lee who could not have been more accommodating, helpful and friendly. The grounds are a delight and well maintained. Highly recommend this venue for a wedding.

My stay at Best Western was a refreshing break. The hotel is set in a beautiful location with beautiful cgardens. The building is stunning and filled with friendly staff looking to care for their guests

Is rather tired. Decoration, carpets and the like are for from being up to date modern, or consistently period. The latter may better suit such a building. Bathroom was not state of the art; wall mounted power shower over the bath, with a sloping ceiling, so little head room. Strength of show was just adequate. The WIFI was good but the password had to be requested., although was it buried in that book of words on the desk. And where are the power points for all the electrical gadgets we carry these days. Sockets did not USB power outlets, so easy to fit. Price was very good, including breakfast, so I suppose you get what you pay for! No AC; just as well is was not hot weather in this dormer room.

First time to a Best Western. We will definitely return again. Hotel was clean and well kept. Gardens were absolutely beautiful. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Breakfast was lovely and always hot. We ate at the restaurant on one occasion in the evening. Lovely meal. Very well presented. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds with a wonderful walk behind. The evening meal was excellent and staff were very attentive. The carpets leading to the rooms could do with some attention as they are quite marked but the carpet in our room was fine. Would request a better room next time.

We had the best day ever on Friday 8th July 2022. We had an outdoor ceremony which was beautifully presented with a stunning back drop. This was expertly organised by Chris and from the moment we arrived Roy attended to everything and removed any pressure. Anything we wanted was taken care of without hesitation. We went for the Street food buffet which was amazing and enjoyed by all. Great DJ provided by the hotel and we had such a good night. Everyone enjoyed it and we all said it was one of the best weddings ever. The rooms were clean and the beds so comfortable and really good quality breakfast. If you are still undecided about your wedding venue I strongly recommend you consider The Valley Hotel. A great hotel in a beautiful location with staff who know how to host a wedding. Had a lovely stay. Room was rather small but adequate ans comfortable. Bathroom was roomy with shower over bath. Breakfast good and we had an evening meal in the restaurant. That was also good. The hotel is about a 15 min walk fron the Ironbridge and ia adjacent to a lovely park. Its a beautiful setting. Also close to the other Ironbridge museums. What really stood out were the staff at the hotel who could not have been more helpful and were excellent when we had a medical emergency. We could not praise them more highly.

We have stayed at this hotel several times at different times of the year. The hotel is very clean the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent and the produce is nice and fresh. A bonus is free parking.

A 3 night stay in this charming hotel with friends. We all enjoyed the food, beautifully presented and tasty. Rooms were bijou but clean and comfortable. A beautiful building in a charming location, the hotel is clean and well-presented, with friendly staff and food that was absolutely delicious. I could not fault a thing on my stay and I'm looking forward to returning. You have to ask the chef for the courgette risotto - I've eaten in 5-star hotels and this risotto beat them all.

Lovely place to stay. Wonderful room...up 3 flights of stairs...but just what we had asked for. Swift willing help with luggage. Evening meal good. A wedding was on in the hotel, but if we hadn't seen the bride we would not have known...no noise and no reduction in service levels for the other guests. Beautiful gardens The tile decoration in the hall was breathtaking and the potted history of the house welcome.

The smallest, darkest, unwelcoming hotel room I have ever stayed in. Just sufficient room to walk around the bed to the extremely small shower room Only one small chair, could not relax at all. Staff were very friendly but no one offered to help with our luggage although I had informed when I booked that my husband 75 was disabled Long wait in the bar area for staff to appear. On a plus side, the food was very good.

I have wanted to visit Ironbridge for some years and finally got the chance this week. We had a fantastic time and the hotel was one of the reasons for it. The setting is amazing. Really convenient for Ironbridge itself but very quiet. The room was pretty and comfortable but the best thing was the staff, all of whom were brilliant. A special shout out goes to Meagan who served us in the bar. She was professional, friendly and entertaining. We did not eat our evening meal at the hotel as there was so much choice in Ironbridge, but we did have the continental breakfast which was good value and enjoyable.

A super hotel, in an excellent location close to the town centre and heritage site. The staff were super friendly, helpful, attentive and caring and made us feel at home. The Restaurant Chez Maw served fantastic food, good choices, absolutely delicious, I will most definitely visit again with family and friends.

This hotel held great promise when we were booking it but the reality was something else. We arrived to a very small room, there was a desk at the end of the bed and was not enough space between the bed and the desk to pull out the chair to sit on it! One could pull it out from under the desk, turn it 45° and sit on the edge. Ok for a small child but not for 2 adults. We asked to change room and spent another 2 nights in a much better size room although it was still much smaller than the average Premier Inn etc. Breakfast on Monday morning was great, food cooked to order and was the best hotel breakfast in years. A large coach party arrived some time on Monday and it was obvious that the hotel could not handle that many people, the evening restaurant was very chaotic and breakfast reverted to the standard luke warm fare, miles away from the quality the day before. We could not book to eat in on the Monday evening and when we returned later on it was perhaps for the best as it was very chaotic. We nearly booked our room to include breakfast and evening meals but with hindsight not doing that was a good decision. The hotel is in a great location, walk through the small gardens and you are in a park heading towards the river. The staff we all very good. I would possibly go back again but only if I could be sure of getting a decent size room and there we no coach parties book into the hotel for the nights I would be staying there. Also no air conditioning in the rooms so gets hot if the sun is shining.

Hands down the worst room I have ever stayed in. I booked a double room a week before coming here. On the day of travelling 200 miles to get here, I was emailed to say I had been changed to a single room. When I got to the hotel, the room also had no window that went to an outside and was nothing more than a cupboard under the stairs. When asking to move to another room, the reception staff could not have been less helpful. They offered a space on the Car Park floor - flippantly so but very unhelpful It's the worst service I can safely say I ghave ever experienced and I definitely recommend NOT staying here.

We stayed at attend a family wedding. The twin room was large and clean, with plenty of tea, coffee, water supplied. The food was good quality (and plenty of it). The staff were extremely helpful. The wedding went very well and the hotel grounds are stunning. All in all, a brilliant stay.

Just had another excellent stay at the hotel. As always the rooms, quality of service and food was very good. It is set in a lovely quiet location, close to a park and the river, with a short walk to the Ironbridge centre, with its shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel has plenty of parking, a lovely garden area to sit in, with a bar area adjacent. The breakfast was particularly good, and well worth the extra if on a room only rate. Always stay here if on business in the area, would highly recommend.

Staff were cheerful and very helpful. Had a very good night sleep as bed was very good comfy. Restaurant evening meal was also very good and similarly breakfast had plenty of choice and staff very attentive.

Leafy location yet walking distance from shops, eating places and tourist attractions. Friendly and helpful staff, with lovely food for a family gathering. No lift, but ground floor rooms as well as single rooms available.

Me and my partner attended a wedding on the 23rd April and the whole day was perfect! Big thanks to General manager Lisa and Roy. Biggest thanks goes to Lee who was in charge of the hotel on our big day and made sure the day went smoothy. He went above and beyond his duties which he didn't need to do but he did. The staff on the day and the next morning were approachable and helpful. The food on the wedding breakfast and the breakfast next morning was fantastic. On the wedding day, as soon as we sat down the food came out, ready and it tasted beautiful. Breakfast on Sunday morining was served by a hotel colleague and it was all ready. The hotel is kept in a clean condition and we fully enjoyed our day, evening and next morning at the hotel. We hope to go back again for another few nights and enjoy the scenary around such as the gardens, walk up and down at the side of the river severn and about a 10 minute walk to Ironbridge itself. Lots of pubs, shops and nice views around. If there is a place you are looking to stay down Ironbridge. Best western valley hotel is certainly the place.

My husband and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary Friday 22nd, along with close family and friends. What can I say, absolutely everything, was spot on, first class customer service making our Celebration/stay truly magical and a beautiful experience. Needless to say, all future family celebrations, we are heading to The Valley in Telford. Thanks Lisa, Roy, Lee, Chris along with the catering staff for an amazing experience.

Next time we'll stay more than one night. Liked everything about this hotel. We had a lovely room with a view through the garden to the river, very comfortable too. The hotel building with period features is very nice in itself and well maintained. Very pleasant restaurant and all food good- we had dinner and breakfast. The hotel is still mindful of Covid protections which we appreciated. All staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a very short walk from the town and next to a nice park and riverside walk. Plenty of parking.We'll be back!

Our daughter had her wedding at the Valley Hotel and the day was truly magical. From arrival to the end of the night, everything ran like clockwork, thanks to Lee and Chris who oversaw everything. They kept us informed at each stage of what was going to happen and when. The staff were thoroughly professional but also very friendly. The food was excellent and the service was smooth with any little issues dealt with immediately. Everyone who attended spoke highly of the Valley and it is difficult for us to think of any way it could have gone better. Thank you for such a great day!

The restaurant is very good and the staff very friendly and efficient. Stay away from room 16 though. It's up a lot of stairs and then, there are some steep stairs from the room up to the bathroom, so if you suffer from arthritis, it's no good for you. the room is small, with a small window, so at 5' 6" i didn't get to see the lovely scenery. Was charged £120 for the room, don't pay more than £90, it's not worth it.

your looking for a wedding venue this is your place! Wow what a beautiful day! The staff were not only absolutely amazing but also lovely. The venue was immaculate. I didn't have to worry about a thing everything was done perfectly. Mel is possibly the most kind hearted, accommodating lady I have ever met. Such a lovely lady and I cannot thank her enough. Also a shout out to Roy as he's just awesome and dealt with all my bridezilla moments. Thank you to this beautiful place and all the staff there for making our wedding and our stay amazing. Forever thankful to this place.

We had a 2 day break it was lovely, the bedroom was beautifully clean the bathroom was huge also beautifully clean, all areas of the hotel are lovely and a walk in the grounds is must down to the river

Friendly staff, clean hotel, really good food. But oh my goodness the room! Number 32 (avoid!) Tiny, cramped, a cleaner's store takes away a lot of the room. Pillows that came to the end of their lives 10 years ago. Frayed, tatty covers on the bed. Impossible to sleep, walls like paper, heard every cough, snore and fart all night. Absolutely awful. Never again.

We've just returned from a two night stay: we can't fault anything about this hotel - all the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The meals we had in Chez Mawr were excellent - probably the best duck I have ever tasted. We would certainly return and recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxed and comfortable stay.

First class in every respect. The accommodaton was clean and spacious with all amenities expected. Dinner in the restaurant was superb, good imaginative menu served by efficient friendly staff. Breakfast also followed with fresh produce cooked well.

Mid week stay for two nights Excellent location, easy to find, plenty of spacious secure car parking, adjoining a nice park at rear leading down to frontage of the Severn. Nice 10 minute walk along the river frontage to the Ironbridge and other attractions of the small town. The hotel reception and other public areas were clean, nicely furnished and spacious. A nice comfortable relaxed environment. Staff were all really friendly, efficient and looked after us nicely. Breakfast on first morning was served by hotel staff from a buffet arrangement, on second morning it was order and served at table. Both options worked fine and the quality of ingredients and cooking was very good. Our room #10 was very pleasant, seemed freshly decorated, clean, nicely furnished, comfortable bed. Bathroom was spacious but was rather basic, but everything worked well with plenty of hot water. Wifi seemed to work fine, including streaming a bit of Netflix. A couple of minor niggles. Could faintly hear the ‘piped' hotel music from the bar/reception areas in our room until around 22:30. As mentioned above, the bathroom was a bit basic and didn't have a ventilation fan, consequently lots of condensation especially from the windows that didn't seem to open. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Valley Hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

No lift, two flights of stairs. Broken shower, poor internet. Poor tv. Complementaries and toilet roll shortages. Poor response from office to questions. Not a patch on Copthorne next night but twice the price for no additional facilities. Diss appointed.

This is a hotel in two parts, such a difference between the standard of accommodation and the wonderful food in the restaurant. Staff are lovely, attentive and chatty - its the actual accommodation that lets it down. I had a standard room on the ground floor. It was small and very dark due to one small window - that I could have lived with although the lampshade was dated and old and cut down the light. A shelf type table was fitted to wall right over the radiator so you could not get to the heater (I needed to dry off jeans etc., after getting soaked due to rain) and it also cut the heat coming through - and they only turn on the heating about 5pm! The bathroom was ok, albeit a very small shower but there was no heating in the bathroom so it was freezing - just put a wall heater in the there! The bed was hard as nails - a topper had been put on it but it was so thin I am not sure if it was a topper or a mattress protector. The pillows had their best days years ago and were flat and no bounce to them - two of the pillow cases were so threadbare you could see through them. The duvet was painfully thin, like the pillows it was probably years old and held no heat. I was so cold on the first night that I had to ask for a heater for the room and a blanket for the bed. Its just simple things that could easily be put right without spending a fortune. On the plus side I have to say the restaurant food for both breakfast and especially the evening meals were superb - hats off to the chef and the service - really could not be faulted.

Yet again we had another fantastic stay at the Best Western Valley hotel, everyone is so friendly and the food is lovely we had a lovely day for it also, and the surroundings are beautiful ,we look forward to going back again.

This hotel is a perfect place to have that break we all deserve. We arrived just after 3pm and check in was great, we had already done the registration online a few days ago so just a show of a credit/debit card for any charges to the room and the key card to the room. We had a nice upgrade of room which was a lovely surprise. The room was up two flights of stairs which was not a problem for us but could be for others with mobility difficulties or young children. The room was superb a four poster bed, a gorgeous original fireplace, dressing table, brewing up station with coffees, tea, bottled water, hot chocolate and a a selection of biscuits. Bathroom was very roomy with a bath/shower complimentary toiletries included. The room was very spacious and the view was pleasant. The location is ideal for exploring Ironbridge and surrounding areas, plenty of walking trails and historic places to visit. We didn't eat at the hotel but the menu looked good. The bar was reasonable. All the public areas had the Covid rules in place all very clean and well presented. Highly recommend a stay here.

A quirky hotel on the banks of the Severn and an easy walk to Ironbridge. Upstairs rooms are reached by staircase- one spiral. Excellent food and staff are masked and very friendly and polite. Warm rooms.

Great staff, lovely setting, but that's where it ends. The single rooms are really tiny, with 3ft rock hard beds and a duvet the same size..I didn't know they still made them that size! The carpet was threadbare and it looked like the furniture was the original from when the hotel was updated in the 90s. Add to this, paper-thin walls and a room that was cold with no heating in the bathroom. Not a great stay!

We hired the Jackfield room for a meal following our sons christening. There was a small issue on the day regarding final numbers and menu choices that hadn't been passed on. Lee was helpful and all was sorted within 5-10 minutes. The food was excellent, all of our guests commented positively on what they had chosen to eat. Presentation was lovely. All the staff on the day were accommodating and very friendly. I would certainly recommend you. Thank you.

Couldn't have picked a worse time to visit, restaurant closed and town flooded however the helpful and friendly staff made sure our stay wasn't ruined. An excellent travelzoo deal made the stay very reasonable and once the flood dissipated we found the location was very accessible to the town.

Relaxing stay, location central to all museums and Ironbridge gorge. Accomadation was clean and comfortable and the staff all very efficient and friendly. We stayed on dbb rate and the evening meal was 5 star.

Hotel was lovely spotless clean food was lovely all staff very friendly location only 10 minutes walk to shops and Ironbridge only downfall was our room was cold during the day only seemed to heat up later on in the evening cud do with softer mattress and new pillows otherwise

Very nice and clean establishment. Disabled access. Friendly staff that looked after us. Beautiful afternoon tea. Perhaps more sandwiches should of been available instead of the cakes. But that's just my preference. Very nice afternoon tea. Perhaps not quite on par for the money that it costed. Great surroundings. On the way in. Depending on which way you come from, beware of narrow lanes. However this might of just been one of the ways the satnav took us.

Milk was off then replacement milk was also off. Bed rock hard. Noisy neighbours above and next door. Shower unusable, scalding or freezing. Staff lovely and breakfast ok but definitely wouldn't go near it again. Not even 3*. No sleep and not even a cup of tea - grim! I should avoid it.

Ideally located, short walk to the bridge and also a park just outside the front door, with a path on the edge of the severn. Room was small but adequate for our needs. Clean and bed was comfortable. Reception staff were faultless, obviously client centric and was very accommodating when we had an issue on our way to the hotel. Thank you so much. Have already recommended the hotel to friends and family.

Lovely little hotel, with beautiful surroundings 10 minutes walk from The Iron Bridge. Stayed for 1 night, hotel is well maintained, with really pleasant staff, who made the stay even more enjoyable. Fantastic food served with lots of options. Room was nice and well maintained. Would have been 5 stars but for the fact I thought £6 for a pint, I.E the drinks prices, were over priced. Definitely recommend this place if looking for somewhere to stay in the area.

There is not a lot that can be added as most is covered below. The Valley Hotel is a great place to stay for visiting Ironbridge and its many museums. The staff were brilliant, it seemed that nothing was too much trouble.

It's a very well run hotel , staff very proactive . I have used restaurant before for breakfast and dinner both top quality I have friends near hotel so sometimes dine elsewhere . Price is very competitive with area

Booked the hotel and Jackfield room for private family gathering. The hotel is such a beautiful period property the rooms were clean tidy and well equipped with everything we needed, including lots of tea and biscuits etc. beds were comfortable and bathroom spacious. The Jackfield private dining room was perfect for us and the meals were absolutely stunning, everyone enjoyed the meal immensely. Every member of staff that we crossed paths with were lovely and everyone was very helpful. Finally breakfast was delicious and plentiful Thank you to everyone at the hotel - you guys were amazing and made our celebration all that little bit more special ❤️

I was very surprised as to how this nice this place was. The room was warm and cosy and had recently been refurbished. The hotel and my room were spotlessly clean. Check-in and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. The full English breakfast was awesome and well worth the money. The place has lots of character too and is just 10 minutes walk from the bridge. I shall return!

Booked through secret escapes for a one night stay as a birthday treat ,this is my honest review.Hotel is set in beautiful surroundings within distance of all attractions ,although full of charm,the hotel is somewhat dated .We were allocated room 44 !! ,which was clean with all we needed ,sadly for us the stay was spoilt as we really did have next to no sleep,two single beds pushed together to make a double with a very hard mattress and pillows not fit for purpose one being flat the other lumpy ,we were awaken very early by the vans below our window which appeared to be a service yard ,when booking we also read we would be given a glass of wine !!!!! that never appeared.However on a positive note breakfast was lovely ,cooked to perfection and served by a very friendly waitress ,the reason i have given two stars is purely down to the tired room and the lack of sleep in a most uncomfortable bed, for these reasons i would not recommend and we would not return .

For the price you would be pushed to find better service and location. Left the car in the hotel car park and could walk to most attractions. The hotel itself was excellent, staff really friendly and prices for food and drink very competitive.

Pleasantly surprised ticked all the boxes for a midweek overnight get away would definitely visit and stay again. Food and service were all very good plenty of choice for breakfast prompt pleasant staff.

My partner and I needed a few days away and we are so pleased to have chosen the Best Western Valley Hotel in Telford. The accomodation, staff, food and value for money was first rate cannot recommend highly enough.

This was our fourth stay and as always it was just perfect. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very covid safe. Food was divine. Room beautiful with a lovely river/park view. Special mention must go to Lee who was a superb waiter and so customer focused. Can't wait to return.

Myself and my wife attended my sister-in-law's Wedding at The Valley. The whole experience from arrival to departure was first class. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were courteous and extremely efficient. The Wedding was excellent and the food and entertainment. My opinion the hotel is worthy of a five star rating. I would be very happy to recommend it to anyone and being situated adjacent to The River Severn in the picturesque setting of Ironbridge makes the whole experience picture perfect.

Room was ok, bed wasn't too comfortable though and the pillows were 'different', making for a not good nights sleep. TV was in the wrong place and the kettle was situated directly beneath this. we moved the kettle to another site within the room. We had breakfast the two mornings we were there and this was good, it wasn't a buffet that you helped yourself to but you were asked how many rashers of bacon, how many hash browns etc. and there was plenty of toast too. We ate in Chez Maw restaurant one evening, choice was not too great but the food was really good. Would recommend the pulled lamb. The only downside was some guests were walking about without masks on and when challenged by staff were not happy. Perhaps the signs stating masks must be worn could be bigger as they were not that noticeable? There were however masks available if so required.

The worst staff I've ever experienced particularly the evening bar staff and front desk,Shocking manners with very little respect to the customer.Poor attitude, and rude to say the least.I will never stay in this hotel again and certainly would not recommend it to anyone !

We stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed the room, location, evening meal and great staff. They really are the added value to this hotel and go the extra mile as the norm. A credit to Best Western.

Efficient check in and reception staff very helpful and gave us a little information about the area and a couple of goods walks to try. Did not have breakfast but had evening meal quite a good variety of dishes and meal was excellent, staff were very pleasant and attentive. Great Room with lovely view over the gardens. Huge bed, two pillow types firm and soft We had room 17 and I believe it is not their largest room but it felt more like suite as it was a good size with comfortable armchairs, dressing table with chair, large television large wardrobe and plenty of draw space in cabinets and dressing table. Lovely big bathroom with shower over bath. Very nice toiletries lovely body cream and two different types of soap great if you have sensitive skin and soft towels room and bathroom was spotlessly clean. Did not have breakfast but had evening meal quite a good variety of dishes and meal was excellent, staff were very pleasant and attentive. Plenty of parking space and close to attractions and amenities. Be aware if you have walking difficulties not to use larger set of steps into the building as they are quite steep use smaller set a little further down. Chatted to gardener who was very pleasant He advised us to be careful around town as there had been frost in night and he was putting more grit down in car park and on steps as another cold spell was imminent.

Loved this hotel and it's location was brilliant. Breakfast was exceptional and the staff so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Room (16) was nice but the bathroom was up a few stairs which wasn't good when you have to use it through the night

Made a long awaited return & we were not disappointed. Room was small but immaculate. Staff were helpful & friendly. Breakfast was great. Only wish there was a chance to sample the restaurant but that can wait until next time. Only negative was the confusion with the Fire alarm. Was it a drill or a mistake? Was never really explained

The room was very cold no visible heating in the room a thermostat was in the room and was reading 35 Deg but not sure what this was operating unless it was under floor heating but did not work we hopped it would warm up while we were out but it did not .

I was recommended this hotel by my sister and was not dissapointed, the hotel room food and staff were excellent. We wanted a relaxing break after a busy time at work and it was lovely. The food in the restaurant exceeded our expectations and was beautifully seasoned hot tasty and beautifully presented. All staff including the cleaners were friendly and welcoming.

Just a few days in a good location. Plenty to see and do even late in year. Hotel was very good value and the food extremely good, menu was varied and standard of food served very good. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Plenty of space for car parking as well

We asked for a ground floor room, room was better size than our last visit with a lovely deep bath. The hotel is only 10-15mins stroll along the river to the bridge, bar and a few shops so is a good place to stay. Only downside was the website said a bar menu was available but wasn't and the restaurant was full when we found this out, however we did get sandwiches and a portion of chips. Staff were great.

We only stayed one night and was more than happy with our stay. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is old and a little dated in places however it has character. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was fantastic, breakfast was also very good. The room was a good size and we were very happy with our stay.

Stayed here while we attended the Wales comic con in Telford. Rooms were clean and staff were very helpful and attentive. Nothing seamed too much trouble for any of them. Tasty breakfast all freshly cooked. Good selection of draught beers. The hotel is quirky. The lady behind the bar told me that it started out as a manor house in about 1860 for a family with 11 kids. The hotel incorporates the out buildings which have been made into guest rooms, but all undercover with roofs and skylights covering the passages, lots of exposed brick work in the corridors and some cobbles at the side of the passages. Yes I will come back here again if I am in the area. Did not eat here in the evenings, as they had a lot of bookings Friday, a wedding Saturday, and on Sunday we had chosen to eat at another venue earlier in the day. The barmaids Megan and Ellie were wonderful, and nice to chat to.

We had a VERY pleasant Wednesday-Friday stay. The hotel staff were welcoming and everyone was friendly, the room was spotless and the meals just right - the right size, a little bit different and tasty.

Staff excellent. Food and drink excellent in a lovely restaurant and bar. For an executive room it was let down by noise of people talking in the room next door. There was a group of lads being extremely noisy on the terrace below at 11:30pm on the Saturday and when trying to make sure the single glazed wooden window was shut got a load of verbal abuse. Had to go downstairs and complain to staff who removed the lads from the terrace. No double glazing to any of the windows (which could have cut the noise down), room cold and radiator did not seem to work in main room, had to use electric heater

Spent night at hotel on B&B - Staff, Room, Food all excellent as was location. Definitely will use for next visit to area. Good ample parking facilities and lovely views from rear of hotel to the river and gorge.

Lovely hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. Food was excellent , and there was a good choice on offer. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. All very clean. There were a choice of rooms for relaxing in and no silly TV to annoy you in the public areas. The location is excellent. There are very pretty gardens , but regrettably we did not have the time to explore. There are some lovely and individual shops nearby. Definitely worth walking to.

Decided at the last minute to go to Ironbridge. Booked into the Best Western. Reception on arrival was very good and Roy was very friendly. Checked in was very easy. Our room was quite small but clean. My husband asked if they had a bigger room, which he was given the choice of two, but he saw the first one and that was good enough for us, only fault was had no view at all out of the window - only the glass roof of the walkway that joined the buildings, not a real problem as we are usually out most of the day and evening. The hotel is a touch tired in places. We could not fault the staff, there was not one of them that was not friendly, they were all very pleasant from reception, bar, restaurant to cleaning staff we could not fault them! Service was excellent in all areas. We had a really enjoyable stay and would certainly be going back!

This is a lovely hotel, the staff are very very helpful, I would stay again. We stayed 2 nights Friday and Saturday, our room was on the small side, however, we didn't book until quite late on so this may be why. The room was spotless and actually quite cosy, but I have to say the bed was super comfortable, I am not normally a great sleeper but in fact had a lovely sleep. We ate in the hotels restaurant on Friday - Chez Maw which was absolutely gorgeous, I had the lamb and my husband had the seabass, we ate out on the Saturday night at a local tapas which was awful, we really wished we had just stayed at the hotel again. Breakfast was lovely, sausages where super tasty. I love the fact that late on Saturday I was really pekish and one of the staff made us a cheese board even though the chef had gone home, it was lovely. All in all a lovely stay and would highly recommend.

Despite Covid restrictions, the staff were attentive, courteous, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well laid out. The buffet breakfast was served for you, i.e. not help yourself. All the staff wore masks.

Booked a room via Travelzoo as our earlier stay was cancelled due the lockdown. The grounds looked attractive though we probably came at the wrong time of year to appreciate them. Some of the hotel interior looked very interesting though other parts a little dated and in need of some TLC. That said it did not detract from the stay, though it wouldn't take much to brighten up the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast very good plus free parking in Ironbridge is very welcome as it's less than a 10 minute walk into the village. We would definitely look to stay here again if in the area but would hope they've updated the decor first.

Excellant experience with a fantastic team to help are our wedding be perfect. Our wedding we deferred due to covid for 12months. The valley is a fantastic location in Ironbridge valley with a country park next to it and trees all across the valley slopes opposite. Plenty of different rooms and areas to sit. Fantastic food.

We stayed at the Valley Hotel for our 30th wedding anniversary having spent our wedding night at the hotel in 1991. We loved it then and were not disappointed this time either. We had a fabulous time. Room clean and bright with a lovely view of the trees in all their autumn glory in Dale End park. Our evening meal was absolutely beautiful and the staff could not have been more helpful. All very cheerful and welcoming. Will definitely go again.

In a delightful setting and not to far to walk to the Ironbridge. Overall including our bedroom which was accessed by a step narrow flight of stairs and featured quite a small window making it dark inside I would say the hotel would benefit from a facelift. It does retain a lot of character which adds to its charm and the staff were competent and helpful, the outside garden area was lovely and the food very good. In all a pleasant stay.

We were in the old part of the hotel, on the third floor. After the first flight, the stairs become steep and narrow. In our room, there were five steps to climb to the bathroom. That said, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the dinners in the restaurant were delicious. Serving staff were masked at all times, but breakfast needs to be thought out a bit better, as unmasked guests were regularly walking between tables of seated guests, to and from the food collection point just outside the restaurant entrance.

Nice hotel excellent location but our room was very small with a little window which made it very dark. Curtains and decorations could do with a face-lift. No lift so if you have a heavy bag not ideal if you're on the second floor.

Absolutely lovely place! Me and my partner went for our first get away here and it was lovely! There was a wedding reception on but the staff still managed to please everyone! Breakfast was Lovely! Only downfall was having to actually leave! I just wanted tot stay forever!

We stayed two night, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is perfectly situated, in lovely grounds that run down to the Severn,close to the bridge, town centre shop, eateries and some of the museums. Our room, 17, was on the second floor, and as the hotel is Georgian with high ceilings and no lift it is a bit of a hike to carry luggage, but well worth the climb. It overlooked the grounds and was spotlessly clean. In winter when the leaves are down it might be possible to see the river, but I don't know. It was also large with a very big bed. The mattress was on the hard side but, unusually, I slept better than I normally do away from home, so it suited me. The bathroom was a good size, again scrupulously clean with a shower over the bath. No handgrip, though, so so you have to be careful when getting out, though the rubber bathmat gives security.. The only issue was that the shower was not very powerful, but it was adequate, and the towels were great. We were on a very reasonable dinner, bed and breakfast rate. Breakfasts were good - mostly buffet-style, including full-English but with drinks and toast brought to the table. I am usually a one-course dinner person as most places serve far too much, but the portion sizes here were smaller so for the first time in years I ate the three courses. Our group menu was limited in choice but nobody had trouble finding three courses to suit them. Everything good and well-presented. The service was superb and all the staff were a joy. The discretionary purchases such as drinks doubled the price of the stay, but given how reasonable the basic rate had been, the overall price for the stay wasn't excessive. Having read read some very negative recent reviews of Valley Hotel, I was worried about what we would find; this trip had been booked months ago. Luckily, we encountered no negative issues. I'd happily recommend it.

The Valley hotel is in a very good position to walk to the bridge, to all shops and pubs, not far in the car to the museums. What makes this hotel is the fabulous staff they cannot do enough for you. We will see you all soon

We paid for an executive room . Very noisy as it was above the bar. Bathroom had no ventilation unless you opened the window. They couldn't offer us a table in the restaurant either night so on Saturday we opted for room service . Great food but they charged us for having room service . They also charged for a bottle of water even though it said water would be provided in the rooms On the positive food was very good and the location is just stunning. Another hotel where they are struggling perhaps with lack of staff and simply taking too many bookings without having the ability to offer the service .

Staff lovely & helpful. Hotel decor very tired. Offered a room with no windows. Asked for alternative, this was helpfully arranged with upgrade. Upgraded room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke; wash basin was cracked, electric shower hopeless, carpet damaged by spare bed, tv kept losing its tuned stations, strong smell of effluent outside bedroom window at various times of the day. The room had the feeling of having been used as a staff bedroom. Went home feeling tired and dirty.

What a fantastic location. Nineteen of us stayed in the hotel Monday through to Wednesday on a walking break. The staff were extremely helpful as they had been when we booked. The position of the hotel is super with a lovely garden terrace standing above a gentle slope down to the River Severn. Great Walking area and we had super weather. Delicious breakfasts. And I particularly enjoyed the sausages. Everything freshly prepared and served with a smile. The evening meal was also fantastic, great choice and again all served with a smile. It makes so much difference. Rooms were very comfortable

Stayed 3 nights. General decor needs to be brighter and the room we were in. The staff are excellent and very polite. Good breakfast and plenty of choice. Had dinner one evening which was good but a bit expensive. Heard other guests saying some rooms had loose towel rails and toilet seat. Not enough water pressure in showers. Room very expensive for the facilities provided. Had a coach party staying and they were given evening meal priority and we as guests could not get a table unless there was a cancellation. Hotel well situated for visiting Ironbridge and surrounding area.

Tiny, dark room. The wardrobe is half behind the desk so you can only use one door making access difficult. The walls and ceiling are paper thin so you can hear everything - snoring, going to the toilet,.... Set in a lovely area, the room looks straight onto a brick wall. The hotel is set behind a lovely park leading down to the Severn and near several restaurants. Breakfast is good - buffet style but served to you and the staff are friendly and efficient. Good covid measures.

I took my adult son to Ironbridge for three days for his birthday. The hotel is in an ideal location to access Ironbridge and in walking distance of the town. Lots of pubs and places to eat there. We stayed 2 nights and ate at Restaurant Severn on the first and the Water Rat on the second. Both excellent in terms of food quality and choice. The hotel however had a wedding every day of our stay which was fine although the first day they did take over the bar, so it wasn't welcoming to try and get a drink. Every eve the hotel was quiet though, so partying stopped at a reasonable hour and the beds were very comfortable. Rooms are somewhat dated in their decor as is the bathroom and both could do with modernising. TV in the room was in an awkward place round the corner so you couldn't see it if you were sitting on the bed! It needs to be moved. Staff were all incredibly helpful and welcoming which was great. Breakfast options were good and it was a buffet, but served by staff due to Covid restrictions. This was fine. For the price we paid overall the trip was very good and the location was perfect.

Lovely location, backing on to a park and the river. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good, both in the restaurant and at breakfast. Large car park with plenty of space, large outdoor area at the back of the hotel, used for two weddings when we were there as it is so picturesque.

Rooms are small, uncomfortable, and dated. Arrived first night, and told there was no space in the restaurant for a meal. Reception said there were many other places to eat locally. Phoned every single place- they all stopped serving at 3pm as it was a Sunday. Drinks expensive. Ate a couple of nights in the hotel but the menu was limited and didn't change the whole week we were there. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The shower was electric, over the bath and a trickle of water, barely enough to wet your hair.

A cream tea here lovely experience good food at the staff were excellent . A special occasion was enjoyed by all . Sat in the grounds later for a drink beautiful surroundings . The centre of Ironbridge is easily reached .a lovely walk by the river , Enjoy your visit .

We stayed at the BW in Ironbridge for a short break to explore the history of the area. The hotel is in an excellent position and is in a very interesting and historical building. The gardens are lovely and run down to the river in a tranquil setting. Rooms facing the main road are a bit noisy from early in the morning and deliveries to the hotel are also disturbing but can't really be helped because of the layout of the site. It's better to have a room facing the garden at the back. The food was average but good portion sizes. The beds urgently need upgrading to hotel standard. The staff couldn't have been nicer and deserve credit for making this hotel feel very welcoming and homely. We would stay again but try and ask for a quieter room next time.

Attending a wedding in Shrewsbury at the Wroxeter hotel. Found the Best Western Valley Hotel. Only 15 mins from the wedding. Great hotel. Very friendly and clean. Room was comfortable with tv tea making facilities and a bath and shower. Wi fi also fee. Food was amazing. Booked for an evening meal and breakfasts for both mornings. Staff are lovely and very friendly. Grounds are amazing.

Hotel situated in lovely grounds in a good position to visit Ironbridge. Check in was good we had booked into an executive room upon entering the room we were greeted by a big stain on the carpet which had recently been treat as carpet was still damp but had not removed the stain . Decor was very outdated with 4 poster bed fashionable in the 90's not quite 2021. Our room unfortunately was situated above the bar which was noisey especially with staff moving furniture around at 1am. This was then proceeded at 6am with noise from the above room being used by the wedding party to get ready in complete with slamming doors and children running around corridors there on in. Breakfast was ok and very organised . All staff really pleasant shame the decor does not match.

This hotel desperately needs a full refurbishment. We paid extra for an "executive" room, but what we got was smelly, with a dirty carpet, uncomfortable bed, dangerous steps to the bathroom and shabby of decor an fittings. Definitely NOT executive. The best part of the room was the towels! The staff were good and the location lovely, but the lack of investment obviously over a long period really let's the place down. It has the potential to be so much better. This has put me off staying in any Best Western hotel. I've travelled extensively and sadly this was one of the worst I've ever stayed in.

We hadn't stayed here for over 15 years, but, the grounds are still as impressive and the bar area looks to have been, recently, tastefully refurbished. We booked bed and breakfast with an evening a la carte meal in the restaurant. Our evening meal was delicious and coming from me that is praise indeed as I am an incredibly fussy eater!!!! We both opted for 3 courses with Steak as our main course. The steaks were cooked, to our individual requirements, perfectly. I thought the pricing for the evening meal was very reasonable and there was a considerable choice of wines. Thank you to all the staff for their understanding of my mobility requirements and my husbands hearing diversity. When I rang to book, the guy, on reception ensured that we had a room that was accessible via the lift. The staff serving on the evening ensured that they pulled down their masks when addressing my husband so he could lip read what they were saying. To most people these things wouldn't be important, but, to us they make such a huge difference. Thank you so much to Sharron and the blond haired waitress (whose name I can't recall, but, she is a student : Mum and Dad got married at the hotel) their service was outstanding. I can guarantee that we won't leave it another 15 years before we return.

Our house burnt down and the team booked us in without notice and made sure we were safe, warm and fed. Nothing was too much trouble. We ended up staying for two weeks and the hotel made a sad and devastating experience bearable. The team at the Valley were incredible.

We stayed just one night whilst touring the area. We were made to feel most welcome and valued and ll staff were genuinely eager and happy to help. Considering the current situation they made things almost normal whilst observing all the regulations and precautions. We certainly felt safe all the time. The dinner munge was quite limited ad did not cater for my wife who is vegan. When we explained this to the waiter he spoke to the chef who prepared a 3 course vegan meal. The vegan meal looked wonderful and my wife remarked that it was one of the best vegan meals she had eaten in a restaurant, my meal was excellent as well. All in all our stay at the Valley hotel was most enjoyable and memorable, we will certainly return.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely and inviting and the bar area was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the room was poor. - the mattress was rock hard. I requested a spare sheet from housekeeping and slept on top of the duvet to make it softer. I travel a lot for work and am not fussy about mattresses normally, but this felt old and uncomfortable. - bulbs not working in one bedside lamp. The other flickered intermittently. No one was available to change the bulbs and they were not able to provide me with a bulb to change it myself due to health & safety (which is a pain, but not the fault of the team on duty). - no air con or fan. I was able to open the window but this opened on to a flat roof which could be accessed from other bedrooms (as the windows don't have restrictors) which was a safety concern for me as I was staying alone. There was also a generator fan immediately to the right of the window, which was incredibly loud when the window was open. The room was small (which isn't an issue) but was so warm that I barely slept. - tap in the bathroom was completely rotated inwards so floor flooded when you tried to turn on the cold tap (tried to show in the pictures) The room was clean with a fresh supply of teas/coffees etc but this was not a comfortable night, which was a real shame as I had genuinely been looking forward to staying here. The issues are all things that could be easily responded to (mattress update, fan in the room etc.) And, as I said, this does not distract from the warm welcome of the staff and the beautiful setting.

Great location, only a 5-10 minute walk to iron ridge,unfortunately found bed uncomfortable , being an OAP, also room was on 3rd floor and there is no lift Staff and food were excellent , ambiance was good, only downfall with bar was they did not do cocktails

Excellent food and service is order of the day here the staff go above and beyond to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. The menu is currently not the “normal” Valley Hotel offering due to the pandemic but I would highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

Quite an impressive building that would have got 5 stars had it had a lift. Very friendly staff. Good location, plenty of parking, nice garden to sit in. Only alarming thing was no curtain or blind at our bathroom window that wasn't frosted so don't use the toilet or shower with the light on if it's dark outside as you could be seen. (Room 18).

A return to both Ironbridge & Valley View Hotel was necessary after our previous visit, this time we brought along some friends who thoroughly enjoyed their visit. During our visit the Covid restrictions were well managed and our staycation was excellent well done to all the staff.

Hotel is in a lovely situation and has an interesting and unusual lay-out, but the room was on the small side and, although the window opened (it was a very hot weekend when we stayed) it had no lock - since we were on the ground floor this was worrying and we pulled the vanity mirror in front of it for security during the night. The shower drain was blocked and could not be properly repaired as no handyman is on call at the weekend! Instead the cleaning staff put lots of bleach down it - that did help, but the water still backed up into the shower tray when the shower was used. We were told that we could shower in another room if we wished (the option of a full move to another room was not given), but who wants to carry their wash stuff and clean /dirty clothes around the hotel when they've paid for an en suite? Staff did try to help as best they could though. Quality of breakfast also disappointing.

We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed it. First of all the room was in my opinion leaning towards budget with no toiletries and We could hear our neighbouring rooms every movement, nobody was being antisocial but the constant sound of walking around, toilet flushing, turning taps on etc was slightly overwhelming. On the positive side this hotel is being held up by the high standards of the staff, from the receptionist , to the waiting on staff and the housekeeping they made our stay exceptional, our dining experience went far beyond our expectations. Hotel was lovely staff went above and beyond during our stay, slightly noisier during stay but expected as more and more people are holidaying in the uk at the moment, hotel room was lovely requested a window view and got a an excellent view of the garden area

Stayed years ago, changed room because of noisy extractor fan outside room.On booking form this time under Special requests put 'Room nowhere near Extractor fan etc' The current booking to my dismay had TWO fans in close proximity.No chance of moving room because hotel was full.Friday fans off at 9.30pm then another machine on for 30 mins.Saturday fans on at 7 am,off 10pm,another machine went on until 11pm, no chance of getting off to sleep after that. Room view,rubbish yard with wheelie bins, metal sheds etc.

Only stayed for one night but will definitely be going back and staying for longer! The whole experience there was amazing including the hotel itself, the staff, the service and the surrounding area. All the staff were polite and very helpful and the room was very clean. Also really enjoyed a full english breakfast and dinner. Overall, it is definitely a hotel that is worth recommending.

The hotel is situated in a great location close to Ironbridge and overlooking the park. We had been upgraded to an executive 4 poster room which was on the top floor. The room was spacious and overlooked the gardens at the rear. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

A comfortable hotel, rooms a bit tired but acceptable. It is located right by the river and an easy walk to the Iron Bridge. The breakfasts were great and he staff were friendly and helpful. it is very well placed for exploring Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

We stayed three nights at the Valley Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was a reasonable size, light and airy, and very clean. The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice. However, the thing that made our stay was the staff. Everyone was polite, knowledgeable and efficient – nothing was too much trouble. In particular, Meagan was terrific, looking after us both in the restaurant and in the bar. The hotel is ideally situated to visit the various attractions in Ironbridge and the surrounding area. We would definitely stay again.

Pleasant hotel with a lovely garden and convenient parking. Close to the centre and the attractions. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The full English breakfast was good and the dining staff were great. The bedroom was ok but a little crowded with too much furniture. We had a room closer to the road and the early morning delivery trucks woke us up so if you are a light sleeper I would suggest asking for a room near to the garden. The bed was very firm and although reception kindly arranged for a mattress topper, it was still too hard for me. Hence the average score on sleep quality.

Perfect location on the banks of the Severn with adjacent riverside walk into town. Bar in evening great for a drink. Cyclist friendly hotel. Good breakfast and a number of restaurants nearby if hotel full. Room a bit small, just one thin pillow each and double bed small. Ensure basic but ok. For price very acceptable. Not luxurious but other rooms may be better.

Just passing through we stayed 1 night, paid above the advertised price shown in Booking etc. Although everyone was friendly and nice the hotel is still in the ‘80s. Old fashioned, common area carpets are worn and dirty, extensive use of mastic around baths etc. Dull brown wooden furniture dark brown curtains. You get the idea. although the food was quite good, the dining room was dull and uninteresting with plain bare wooden tables, no cutlery set, and rather dingy lighting, lacking any kind of welcoming atmosphere. It wouldn't take much effort to improve things. I do hope they don't think that Covid is an acceptable reason. Breakfast nicely cooked but no attempts made to make it anything other than ordinary, I had to ask for more tea (we just managed a cup each out of the small pot and no additional water supplied). Cooked or continental, no chance of a bit of fruit to start. All in all! It's a mediocre and rather lacklustre place much in need of bringing into the 2000's and those carpets need a jolly good clean.

I think what impressed me most about this hotel was the warmth and efficiency of the staff. Covid rules were attended to at all times and care was taken to ensure that the communal areas are well ventiilated. Our breakfast was generous and well cooked. Dinner was amazing! I was so thrilled to see such an extensive range of gluten free options. The menu was innovative and the flavours blended beautifully. I had the goat's cheese mousse to start (like eating a fluffy cloud!), followed by lamb, slow-cooked to perfection. There were a couple of gluten-free dessert options and in addition, the waitress offered to have them make up an Eton mess for me! Having got used to always compromising over meal choices when eating gluten-free, I could have wept with joy at being so pampered! the hotel is so conveniently located and I love the way the grounds blend seamlessly into the very pleasant public riverside park. there's a free charging point for electric cars too. I'm afraid I do have to add a note of criticism. We stayed in room 37, which was small, dark and depressing with lots of noise from people moving about above us. I would love to return to this hotel but would certainly ask for a better room. I am writing this whilst staying in another hotel on a later leg of our trip. this hotel is triple the price and we have a lovely room, but how i miss the friendly, personal service and the wonderful food at the Valley Hotel! Such a lovely place!

The first room I was given was very small and dark so I had to ask to change. Much bigger brighter room. No view, but a big improvement. Dinner started in a similar way. I ordered Sea bass with lots of veg. I was given a very large piece of potato with a tiny piece of fish and less than a handful of broccoli. Didn't see any of the asparagus or any other veg. Had to send it back. I was then give an en excellent dinner. Then walking in the beautiful grounds I felt very happy to be here.

Our stay at the valley hotel Ironbridge was once again perfect, the team were as usual so friendly, the food is wonderful. Clean and tidy and beautifully run It's our favourite hotel. I shall look forward to staying again in august

This hotel was excellent value for money. It's in a gorgeous spot overlooking the town's beautiful park with the wooded hills behind. The lovely terrace is sunny and well kept and staff are happy to serve drinks and meals outside. The hotel itself could do with an update to the decor but it was spotlessly clean and the staff couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming or helpful. All the facilities worked well and the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was fantastic, with powerful pressure. We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant on both because the food was exceptional, way above the standard we were expecting. The menu was small and well thought out, with fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. So impressed. The reception and waiting staff were very professional and the cleanliness was constantly being worked on by a couple of incredibly industrious cleaners. Very reassuring in Covid times. All in all, couldn't have asked for more for the very reasonable price we paid - a perfect spot from which to explore the beautiful Shropshire surroundings.

Good service. Friendly and efficient staff. Enjoyed a bottle of wine in the sunshine on terrace overlooking park. Good food well prepared and presented. Would recommend to others wanting a good night out.

Our trip booked through secret escapes had to be re-scheduled 4 times due to Covid-19. The hotel were absolutely brilliant how they dealt with this., they kept in touch by email / telephone. The hotel is a 5 min stroll from the centre of Ironbridge with plenty of free parking. We checked in on line which was very easy, all the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Our 3 course evening meal was included in our deal, this was excellent, compliments to the chef, every course was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection and very enjoyable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was again cooked and presented very well, most enjoyable and set you up for the day. Check out was very easy. We would certainly recommend a visit to this hotel and we will return

Just returned from a two night stay at the hotel. We had the adapted room No 38, it is on the first floor however there is a two person lift to the floor. The hotel grounds are beautiful with banks on to the river Severn. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The hotel is kept very clean with numerous hand sanitiser points around the building. Our room was good, we did have a problem with walk in shower, however the staff did have a solution. The breakfast as is the norm is now served to your table. Than you, we hope to return.

We had a back room which was up a couple of flights of stairs and fairly small. However we had everything we required and the room was very clean and well decorated. The food and service was excellent and the hotel in general very COVID safe. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Ironbridge and surrounding area. We will definitely be returning.

Stayed here 3 nights with friends, Covid secure but felt very homely. Public areas and rooms to a good standard with helpful friendly staff. Breakfast and evening meals nicely presented and of a good quality. Would definitely stay when next in area with a added bonus of ample free parking.

A tidy hotel in a very pleasant spot just a 10 minute riverside walk into Ironbridge. Room was clean and comfortable. The 3 course evening meal was excellent and the menu had good choices. We had noisy guests in the room above but within 10 mins we had been moved to a different room.

Really enjoyed our stay here, a lovely spot with picturesque scenery. There were plenty of parking spaces when we arrived. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Room was very comfortable and clean, and food was excellent. The hotel had clearly been recently decorated and was tastefully done. We had a one night DB&B break at the Valley hotel for a visit to Bliss Hill Victorian village. The hotel is a short walk to the famous Ironbridge and an easy drive to all the local museums. Our standard double was spotlessly clean with good facilities if a little bland in decoration. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the hotel has a fabulous restaurant with some of the best food we've experienced in a hotel anywhere.

We had to cancel a visit to WALES as a result of their lockdown, and chose the Valley hotel as a replacement because of our previous enjoyment staying there. We were not disappointed. It's a lovely hotel in an historic setting. The staff are superb in all departments, the restaurant is excellent for breakfast and dinner, rooms are comfortable, bar is an amenable. Great all round really.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel, it is fantastic quality and value. Comfortable beds, well appointed rooms, tremendous food, well kept ales - the list just goes on. Even my usual niggles with many hotels don't apply here - hot water all day, not just before 6.30 am, and the wifi capacity is more than adequate, and, yes, the hotel was pretty full. Every member of staff we spoke to was friendly and helpful. Lovely location. Book a room and go, immediately!!

Just got back from a weekend away at Best Western Valley Hotel. It was incredible value and the two things that stood out were the quality of the staff service and food. The food was of an incredible high standard and presented well. The staff were always extremely polite and attentive and looked after us well. I would not hesitate in returning fully intend to make this an annual trip!

I spent three nights in this comfortable hotel - the staff were professional and friendly, and the service was excellent. The hotel is in a lovely position backing onto the park and the river - lovely for morning strolls. I would definitely be happy to stay here again.

Had a great short break at the Valley Hotel. Staff were attentive and professional and the food was great including a very nice cooked breakfast. It's an old country house so rooms are not ultra modern and maybe not as big as a modern hotel but were clean and comfortable. Great location too close to the banks of the Severn and just a short walk down to the iconic iron bridge. Will definitely use again when next in the area.

A great location in the heart of the World Heritage site, with all the attractions in Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale a short distance away, yet in a secluded location. We went for a deal that included bed, breakfast and dinner, which was excellent value for money. The car park is immediately adjacent to the entrance, and the hotel has implemented covid-safety precautions throughout. There was a welcoming smile on arrival and the warmth of everyone we met continued right throughout our stay. We had pre-booked dinner and also had to pre-book the time for breakfast, as is normal in these strange times. The room was fine, though perhaps the decor in the hotel s a little tired in places. Dinner was splendid, with an excellent menu and wine list, well-cooked and enjoyable, as was the breakfast with a stellar Full English breakfast - we didn't need lunch later in the day. I hope to stay for longer in the area once things return to normal and all the museums open up and would happily stay here again.

What a lovely hotel in excellent location just outside Ironbridge, the accommodation, food & friendly staff make this a great choice. In addition makes a good location to explore the vast number of things to do around this area. Obviously the main attraction is Ironbridge museums but other things to explore such as walking areas such Wenlock Edge & The Longmynd. Overall we enjoyed our 3 night stay and will return SOON!!

Lovely hotel for Ironbridge, not far from the center. Some lovely walks around the hotel. Very nice room we had a lovely night's sleep. We had the evening meal which was very nice and good value. Ironbridge is very hilly. Will visit again.

Just back from a relaxing 2 night stay at the BW Valley Hotel. Lovely setting, attentive staff and delicious evening meal at Chez Maw on the first night. Well situated - an easy 15 min walk into Ironbridge and close to all museums by car.

Had some international visitors staying fir a few days and planned a visit to Ironbridge. Decided to book afternoon tea on the Groupon App. Was a horrible miserable wet day, we arrived at the hotel soaking having wondered to see the Bridge and earlier than planned. Not a great reception as one member of staff stood chatting to two other customers as we waited for at least 15 mins. Then seated us at a table in the entrance hallway - every time the entrance opened the draught was awful. Said we had a booking for 1530, but wanted to be in the dining room or somewhere warmer. At 1530 we moved to the dining room, by 1630 we still hadn't had the Bubbly- though we had finished our afternoon tea. I was pretty embarrassed. I asked 3 times - before it was served and the pace was empty by then. First impressions were very poor. Given the circumstances the place lacked any kind of welcome or ambience. Were asked if we would like tea or coffee- no choice given still I perused the point. No linen No table clothes No China The place felt naked. The dining room staff were very friendly and chatty as I tried to get an upgrade on the sparkling wine having waited so long for it, but to no avail. Oh, they had t received the voucher! How humiliating. It was asked fir at the time of booking and I had it on my telephone, but this didn't suffice- we sat in a room with 12 others and this was explained to me in front of them all, and my guests! Surprisingly the sandwiches, scones and home baked cakes were delicious. I worked in the Hospitality Industry for more than a decade. My heart goes out to them with the constraints and restrictions that are currently enforced and their survival, long term- however that does not allow for this kind of level of service, verging on unprofessional.

This is the 4th or 5th time we have stayed at this hotel and, despite the current COVID-19 restrictions, the hotel and it's staff still deliver in every way they can. The hotel is charming, the setting is beautiful and the amazing weather made it all the more special. Special thanks to Lee, who we saw more than his twin brother Roy on this visit - one day we may be able to tell you apart without looking at your name badge! You are both a real credit to the hotel, as are the rest of the staff......always friendly, polite and nothing is too much trouble. Once again, the breakfast and evening meals were sublime and are the cherry on the cake when you stay at this hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to get away from the madding crowd, enjoy peace & tranquillity, beautiful views, excellent service and excellent food - well done to all the staff and, in the words of Arnie "we'll be back". Returned to this beautiful venue to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. Chris Copson made our afternoon very special as he did when we got married there two years ago. Flowers, anniversary card and table sprinkles, extremely thoughtful and such a lovely touch. Felt very safe and saw all safety measures were in place. Absolutely beautiful.

Had a 2 night stay with bed and breakfast on a coach tour.The check in was quick and easy. The room was a bit on the small size and with no views but perfectly adequate for our needs. The meals were some of the best we have had with a good choice and gluten free alternatives all served by very friendly staff. All tables were set out with social distancing and we sat at the same tables each time. plenty of hand sanitizing stations dotted around.

Hubby & I have just got home after a long weekend at this hotel. Check in was easy as we'd already checked in a few days beforehand. Our room was fine. Not very big, quite dark & overlooked the staff car park but it served its purpose & was quiet. The bed was firm to put it mildly & I missed my mattress topper. Plenty of hanging space and drawers & a hospitality tray. As there was no housekeeping due to Covid you could request top ups of tea bags, milk etc by phone or at reception. The bathroom had a rain shower (not my favourite as I prefer a shower on a rising rail that can be detached but that's a personal thing) over the bath & there was a dispenser for body wash on the wall. Also 2 little cars of soap We had pre-paid for full English breakfast so you could have cereal, fruit and yoghurt as well as the cooked option. I love BW buffet breakfasts & missed that but understood why it has to be done the way it is ie served to you at the table. We ate 1 evening meal in the hotel & it was delicious. The best mushroom soup I have ever tasted. The hotel has beautiful gardens which lead to a public park & the river. The car park seemed to get very full. I don't know if there are sufficient spaces for the number of rooms but twice we got the last space. Not sure where you'd park if the car park was full. But then the hotel is open to non-residents so they'll be parking there too. All in all we had a very relaxing weekend there. We found all of the staff lovely, chatty & friendly & are doing an excellent job during very trying times.

We had our wedding at this historic and beautiful location. The whole process was made so much easier due to the friendly helpful staff. Throughout Covid restrictions we were encouraged and supported with our plans. This resulted in what can only be described as our perfect day. Our guests were very happy to,especially with the outstanding food. The rooms were clean and well presented. Highly recommend for food,staying and definitely for a special occasion such as a wedding.

myself and my partner visited recently to get some quiet time during covid...we both work in the hotel and catering/hospitality business. ....so it was bliss to escape to this haven. just a few little things though.....the restaurant food is amazing, it was divine! however the restaurant itself was sadly lacking, a few tables in an loveless room , no atmosphere at all (i'm well aware of covid restrictions but it was a very cafe like experience). check in etc was as to be expected in these times and was excellent ...yes your card will be taken by the receptionist using a peg, but we all want to be safe hey?! the room was lovely, my only niggle would be is that there were no pillow protectors ...maybe it was just our room...but i would've felt a little more comfortable /covid if there had been. The staff are so lovely here and the location is the best...would highly recommend

Firstly, the booking process was smooth, we decided Tuesday morning that we wanted to get away for a couple of nights at a hotel enroute to a stay elsewhere we had already arranged, and so we booked a room for that night without hassle. However, on arrival we were informed that the hotel had emailed us a check-in form, and I was asked if there was a way we could access our emails to complete it. When I explained that the only way we could get to it was to return home, the receptionist offered to print it out for us to complete there and then. Now why we couldn't simply “speak” our details to her to enter onto the system, I have no idea – she was behind a very tall Perspex screen and we were wearing face-coverings as requested. In fairness I was impressed that she used an antibac wipe on the pen before she passed it through to me to use. But I then felt extremely disappointed because the form she printed was totally blank of any of my details (and on our return home I discovered the one they emailed was the same too, and had only sent this and a separate email to e-check in a couple of hours before our arrival when we were already travelling) so what on earth was the point of my booking through Best Western as a returning customer? They had my name, address, phone number and membership number as part of the booking process, and yet this all required to be filled in on the form – hardly good customer service to welcome back repeat customers. It was even worse because I couldn't access things on my phone to immediately let them know my membership number, but once in the room when I was properly able to connect to wifi, I located it and on our way out we stopped at reception to give it to the lady, and she said not to worry she had it already because it had pulled through on my booking – so this really does beg the question why I had to fill in a form when they had the info already? Other brands manage to “pull through” my data from a central booking point and I am only asked to sign, for example Holiday Inn, Premier Inn and Ibis – brands we use regularly. This check-in experience really disappointed me and I started to regret being loyal to a hotel we had stayed at previously. Then we got to the room. It was no where near as good as last time. It was tiny, and even the wardrobe only had one door because of where the “desk” had been installed, it came across what would have been the second door, so you had to “lean in” to get to the second rail in the wardrobe. I was amazed to see a folded suitcase stand in the wardrobe and was thankful we didn't need it because if we had put it up on the only part of the floor big enough to take it, we would have been unable to get into the bathroom. However, we did book last minute and the room was clean. However, I do not understand the hotels thought processes. We were clearly told that due to Covid, they would not be coming in to our room during our stay. No problem there, we understand the reasons for this. However, why on earth was the room not properly prepared to receive guests? We clearly booked for 2 people for 2 nights, but we only had one bath-towel, and the tea and coffee things were what they would normally leave in the room for a single stay and a single guest, further shown by only a single sachet of hot chocolate being left on the tray. Surely if you know a guest is staying more than one night, and that there will be more than 1 person in the room, then housekeeping should leave more than 1 towel and plenty of tea & coffee things to cover the whole stay? Yes we can ask for extras at reception, and we did but clearly there are instructions to only give out 6 small milk-sticks on each time of asking because this is all that different receptionists gave us. If you use the whole of the stick of instant coffee in the mug in the room, you need at least 3 milk sticks to make it drinkable, so only giving us 6 each time meant we could only have one drink each. It is a usual thing with hotels to only allow a small amount of milks yet leave 4-6 teabags and 4-6 coffee sticks. Maybe these rooms are usually used for single travellers, and having two bods in it was not the norm, and this is why they only left 1 towel, and 1 set of tea/coffee/hot chocolate. To be honest, given the size of it and the restriction on using the wardrobe etc, it would be far better to hold this room (37) out as a single room and not a double. The duvet was really really thick so we were too hot, staying at the beginning of September when the weather was mild. What was really funny though was that the duvet was a helluva lot longer than the duvet cover – maybe it had shrunk in the wash – because the duvet itself stuck way out of it. The pillows were flat as pancakes, no support at all, and we certainly needed the spares from the wardrobe to try to get any form of neck support – again cheap pillows in use, and not a patch on Premier Inn who offer a choice of decent sized pillows that give proper support. Sleeping was interesting because the room lacked decent soundproofing – it sounded like the bods upstairs had a dog that ran up and down for a fair amount of the night. Also the toilet was really noisy refilling, and so was the one in the room next door as I was awoken more than once through the night when our neighbours used their loo. Bathroom wise, the corner shower cubicle was tiny, and anyone bigger-boned than us would have really struggled. I also screwed back on the toilet seat which was so loose it hung off to the side – surely housekeeping should have noticed it was loose when they cleaned and should have arranged for maintenance to fix it before guests used the room? Bar and restaurant area – all the staff were keeping safe with masks or visors, and all of those we met over our 2-night stay were cheerful and friendly, they are a real credit to the hotel. We were very impressed with the way in the evenings that when a table was finished with, as staff cleared the crockery etc they put a laminated card on it stating the table hadn't yet been sanitised – what a great idea as this lets other staff and also customers know to wait before occupying it – brilliant! Breakfast – we were aware that due to Covid arrangements, there would be no buffet, but full table service. The cooked breakfast was as we expected and good, however we were disappointed with their “continental” option because this was sweet only, ie cakes, croissants, jam etc. What's happened to the savoury option of sliced cheese and ham? This could easily be offered as part of the table-service choices, and can be a nice change to the full-english but still be savoury. Smoking area – this is still the dark and dingy area to the front of the main entrance, not good if you are a little claustrophobic, and appears to be wholly inaccessible to anyone with reduced mobility as you need to use steps to get to it, plus it is at what is potentially the furthest possible point from the bar area. While I understand not allowing smokers on the tables around the garden entrance to the bar area, there is enough room to have a smoking area off to one side at the edge of the car park, which many people used anyway and then had no choice but to drop butts on the floor because of a lack of ashtrays or bins around there. Check-out - when we checked in the receptionist did tell us that they would email the invoice to us at the end of our stay and charge the card we had lodged. When I asked what the value of the charge would be, she told me they had emailed the invoice, but when I explained we would not be home for a week and no access to emails, she did tell me the value and offered to print out the invoice. We wanted to check because it is far easier to get things put right while you are still at the premises, rather than when you have got home and they already have the money. (we did see one person charging drinks to someone elses room so wanted to check this hadnt happened to us too) Come on Best Western - accept that not everyone has access to emails on their phones and give people the option of what they want you to do. Having an "email only" policy is also discriminatory towards the odler population who don't use technology in the same way as youngsters. Our first stay at the Valley Hotel in March 2019 was really good (see my previous review) which is why we opted to return to it when we were passing through the area. However this time we were left disappointed and wishing that we had booked one of the pubs-with-rooms that line the main riverside road of Ironbridge. This time certainly wasn't worth the extra cost that the Valley Hotel charged compared to other local offerings, and I did not feel that being a Best Western member counted for anything.

We booked this hotel as an overnight stop as we wanted to spend the next day exploring the Ironbridge museums. Check-in was friendly with covid restrictions in place. We were requested to check in on line - something we couldn't do outside the hotel as there was no signal. The hotel is in a great location for exploring the town. We booked a double room, but we were disappointed with the size of it - it was cramped. Mrs Moose was feeling a bit chilly, but the radiator wasn't working. Breakfast was at a specific timeslot - the choice was either continental or full english. The continental was basic, but sufficient for Mrs Moose. I had the full english - it was ok and did the job, but nothing special. All the staff were very pleasant and covid aware.

We have stayed at the Ironbridge hotel for the last ten years. We paid for our weekend last year in full and have nothing but good times there. When we arrived we were at reception with our booking form where we were informed we had to book in on line. The lady behind reception wouldn't take our booking form and insisted we booked in on line. She informed us that an e-mail had been sent to me informing me that this was now the way the bookings system was operating. She told me that I had to use my phone to book in on line. My phone only makes phone calls and nothing else. She asked me if I had my tablet with me. I took my tablet out of my case and tried to log in to the hotel wi-fi but was unable to because it said it was an unsafe system. She then asked if we could book in using my wife e-mail but again it would not allow this for the same reasons. She then asked could we not try my wife's phone which is more modern than my own. Once again the same reply came up. So after about 25 minutes common sense prevailed and the lady booked us in on her system. Now is this the way to treat repeat paying guests ? The only part we enjoyed over the weekend was my wife had a good steak on Saturday night. We then waited over 30 minutes to try an obtain a drink at the bar before giving up and going elsewhere. We used to know a lot of the staff and always had good service with lots of light hearted banter, but we only recognize one member who appeared to be very busy. We will not be going back anytime soon if at all.

A very nice hotel with unusual features, in a lovely setting, close to Ironbridge. Short stroll through their garden to The River Severn. Staff very helpful. Perfect breakfast with polite helpful and cheerful staff. Would stay again.

Great value for money. Recently refurbished, so the rooms where nice and clean. I must say, the staff are probably the most courteous we have encountered. The food was really good.. will stay again....

Poor rooms dated. blood stains on pillow case , rolled up duvet instead of pillow. no room service even to empty bins, bedlinen not ironed all badly creased, small rooms. No biscuit's on tea tray. Had to ask for more milk and toilet roll

The worst breakfast we have ever had in a hotel. I had cooked breakfast. The poached eggs were under done and as soon as my knife went in, pure white liquid flooded the plate.it was all very bland and tasteless. My partner had the continental. All could have been bought from the co-op. Packet cereal- no muesli or granola. Ordinary yogurt, nothing special and the fruit salad was completely bland tasting. No raspberries or strawberries as indicated on the advert. Horrible! What a waste of money.

We like Best Westerns as they offer good value for money, and this hotel was no exception, great position with a 10 minute walk into town, room was fine clean and all covid rules followed. The Breakfast was also excellent as was the friendly service. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Ironbridge, also has a large car park.

Lovely hotel which had a great restaurant serving a tasty dinner. On arrival we were told our room was on the 2nd floor and no lifts were available . With a heavy suitcase and other bags we were then told we could use a ground floor bedroom, Bed was a double but small for 2 people. The bathroom was perfect and after a walk up Snowdon a few days earlier, it was great having a bath to soak in. We didn't bother with breakfast because of the expense. I'm sure it would have been good. The car park was accessible at all times and the bridge an easy walk away, After we checked out we were told the car could remain for a few hours more. Lovely hotel right by the river in Ironbridge . Hotel spotless, one way system in and out.Staff all had masks on. tables cleaned after each use. The staff were so friendly here. From their gardens a few steps down took you to a park and the river running along . few minutes walk into Ironbridge where there were little independent shops, pubs and some nice restaurants. ideal base for walkers. would definatley go back to Ironbridge and the Best Western Hotel

Decided to have a night away in these mad times and very pleased to have picked the lovely Valley Hotel in Ironbridge. Excellent Covid precautions in place from entering the hotel put our minds at ease. We had wonderful meal in the restaurant looked after by attentive staff . Breakfast was also great. You have to book specific time slots which was not a problem. Our room was very nice with double and single bed . It was on second floor and there is not a lift so please ask if that would cause problems. Lovely location by the river and would certainly visit again .

This is a great hotel just outside Ironbridge and is really for good for eploring the area, just a short walk into town to see the bridge and other sites. The rooms are comfortable but a bit on the small side, but there are plenty of places to site around the hotel including reception and bar/lounge area as well as outside. There is a local park by the river at the bottom of the hotel grounds which is also nice. The place was fairly busy when i was there and the staff did and amazing job. This is also home to Chez Maw restaurant which does some great food

We have just returned from a short break at Ironbridge and greatly enjoyed our stay at the Valley Hotel. Due to the rain, we ended up spending much more time at the hotel than anticipated. We sampled breakfast, lunch and dinner, all of which were tasty and well presented. The lamb especially was delicious and just fell apart. The staff were all very helpful and seem to have adapted to the new COVID procedures very naturally. Eating at the restaurant on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday also meant we were able to benefit from the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Our rooms overlooked the well maintained gardens and the park which led to the river. It was a short, 15 minute walk to the Ironbridge itself. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

We were on a cycling holiday and we were able to put our bikes in the function room which was extremely helpful. Location good at western end of Ironbridge Gorge. Check in was marred by the receptionist's insistence on my holding up my credit card at exactly the right angle for her to pick it up with a clothes peg and type the number into her computer ! Why ? Booking agency had fully CC details and the standard method at any other hotel is to put it in a CC machine for authorisation. Very poor initial impression. Tiny double bed in a tiny room (35). Occupants in room above (33) tramped around like elephants and spoke on the phone until 1:30am each night. Didn't report it at the time as hoped it was a one off on first night. On check out I would have mentioned it if we had been asked if we had had any problems but we weren't. Conservatory roof leaked in storms just at entrance to corridor to our room. Had two breakfasts, first excellent, second not so good and one excellent dinner. Bar service good with one good real ale. Dining room completely lacks ambience, no carpets, virtually nothing on walls. It is supposedly called Chez Maw (an eminent Ironbridge tile maker) but there is no reference to him whatsoever in the restaurant, not even a painting.

My husband and I stayed for a couple of nights at Best Western Hotel, Ironbridge. We cannot fault it, lovely food and all the staff were professional. We would like to say a special mention to Lee, who works there, he should be a Head manager

The hotel is ideally placed for visiting Ironbridge and the surrounding area. It has a lovely location by the river in its own grounds and just a short walk fron the town centre and the Iron Bridge. Staff friendly and helpful, with the hotel taking the appropriaite Covid precautions. The hotel was spotless clean. The only downside being our room (25), which is an internal room with no opening window to the outside so felt a little claustrophobic during the hottest days of the year. It does however benefit from air-conditioning. Breakfast was table served, tradition full english cooked to your liking. We would not hesitate to return.

The hotel is located on the edge of town but within easy walking distance to all the attractions. Our room was lovely albeit a tad hot with only a small window. Breakfast is a gut buster and will keep you going all day. Would stay again and recommend.

Lovely hotel in fabulous location,looking out onto a park which lead down to Riverside and walks .Room very clean and comfortable. Staff excellent and very helpful. Breakfast excellent,didn't have evening meal but from what we saw, it looked good. Good safety measures in place re covid 19. Would definitely recommend.

When you are used to staying in chain hotels, I admit some nervousness about staying in a Best Western. On the plus side, you usually get an established staff with long-standing staff that is convenient outside a city centre with more character than chain hotel clinics soulless efficiency. On the negative side, you can get ageing pit stops more like Fawlty Towers! The Valley Hotel is definitely in the first category. Lovely location and garden and the building has lots of character that set it apart from a dull Holiday Inn or Jurys. Staff were conscientious about maintaining hygiene and safety regulations given Covid-19. We arrived a little early but they speeded us through having personally checked that the room was done - no messing about. At all times, staff were the highlight working the bar and dinner service, wearing protection themselves and seeing that rules were kept on distance. It was a model of how to run a hotel during this unique time. The room was what you would expect from a hotel of its era. Not clinical modernity but comfortable with four poster bed in the eaves of the house. A bit warm admittedly on the hottest day of the year but that made the wider visit to Ironbridge more fun. Its location is excellent backing on to the river and just 15 minutes walk to the bridge and 20 minutes walk uphill to the excellent Museum of Iron. See my review of the excellent Chez Maw restaurant. We didn't stop for breakfast as got out and about for a walk in the hills but before checking out made the unusual step to have another drink in the lovely garden. The Valley Hotel shows how good English hotels can meet the challenge of coronavirus through effective planning and brilliant staff. We would have loved to stay another night but it was sold out so make sure you book early. Our following experience really was not so happy but the Valley Hotel is a reminder of how Staycation 2020 can work best! Thank you for the stay!

The setting in the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge was stunning. The food was to an excellent standard and the accommodation to particular dietary requirements was very considerate.The staff without exception were very helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and had all that was required. In these very trying times their allowances for the corona virus were comprehensive but also very considerate.

What can i say a lovely hotel despite the cov-19 and everything going on. The valley is very clean tidy and staff were very happy the evening meal was perfect and had a really good night. Plenty of walking in morning and afternoon tea was nice as well. Well done vally hotel team

This is a great place to stay. One of those Best Westerns that exceeds expectations. It was excellent value and very well placed for a very short walk into the centre of Ironbridge. It is beautifully set, with a nice outdoor area for food and drinks. The well-kept gardens flow into the park and riverside behind and the centre of town is minutes away. We ate dinner in the restaurant and were really impressed - good restaurant quality, rather than simply bar food. Drinks were reasonably priced. Service was excellent. The staff were great throughout the stay. The room was a decent size: comfortable and clean - as was the bathroom. The one small challenge was the heat. We were in the top of the hotel and the heat was excessive with only a small window. Definitely a good choice to stay in Ironbridge. And very good value.

Excellent location 2 minutes walk to the river bank short stroll in to the Town the room was spacious very clean and an added bonus it had a balcony the reception and bar service staff where friendly and efficient the breakfast was delicious and plentiful well worth a visit.

We booked this hotel as a stopover to break our journey on the way back home from visiting family. We arrived just before midnight. Check in was a bit stressful as due to Covid you either have to pre check in or use the QR code posted on the protective screen by reception. This entails you finding the WiFi network and putting in the passcode or using your mobile data to do this. Once you have done this you then have to fill in the form and sign it on your phone screen. You then have to tick a very small box to agree to the terms and conditions (which I could not see without reading glasses and you cannot zoom into the page). The guy in reception was very nice and patient while I spent 5 minutes cursing. But once we had got past formalities, he brought us two very nice coffees to save us having to make it in the room. He also asked if we needed any food. He explained about the area and the hotel. It was very good customer service. So top tip - Check in before you arrive. We had room 43 which backed on to the bins. But to be fair, we did not hear much noise. The room looked recently painted. There was a kettle for tea and coffee, small TV, alarm clock. Did not see a safe or hairdryer. The bed was two singles pushed together with topper, but was comfy. We had not opted for breakfast as I could not get through to the hotel when I booked to clarify if it was Full English or continental. It turned out they do a Full English, but you have to book a slot for social distancing. We checked out and left the car in the car park and walked to the Iron Bridge, where we took some photos , got breakfast in one of the many cafes for £5.99 vs the hotels £12.99 (I think). The weather was not great, constant drizzle or heavier rain. A few places have closed (I assume they have been forced out of business) But there are still plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. The museum was closed (again I guess because of Covid) Overall it was a decent stay and nice break for us.

Really enjoyed our overnight stay the staff were all fabulous in recption and the bars and made us so welcome in what is a difficult time for travel. We had a lovely bright room with everything we needed. The hotel is clean and well decorated and the grounds are lovely. A short stroll to Ironbridge by road or along the river. Recommend it highly.

A very warm welcome to the hotel which made us feel and guaranteed our safety throughout our stay you can see quite a few well-considered safety measures in place that have made the hotel feel safer and healthier for all its guest and all members of staff were happy to help to go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and safe the rooms were very clean and comfortable the breakfast is outstanding we didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening we ventured out but heard very good reviews we will be back to try I'm sure a big thank you best western your hotel staff are outstanding

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights last week. Echoing many other reviews the hotel should justifiable be proud of its staff. They were all excellent, friendly, and helpful to a fault. The hotel itself was originally a factory owner's house and is set in very nice grounds with a small park between it and the river where it was a pleasant half a mile walk to the Iron Bridge. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, reasonably spacious, and had a bathroom with a full sized bath as well as a very good shower. We dined both nights in the hotel restaurant. With COVID the menu was a restricted one and the first night I had a good steak. The second night I chose beef with tomato risotto and pesto which was truly excellent. The hotel has obviously thought long and hard about minimizing the risk from COVID ensuring that there is good social distancing and policies to minimize exposure. As a hospital doctor, I really didn't think they could have done more than they were already doing and it is probably a safer environment than your local supermarket! If you want to go for a break but are worried about COVID I really would recommend this hotel. Ironbridge itself is open for tourists but it was never heaving and people were again generally very good at distancing when walking on the roads. Finally, the walks around the area are great. The woodlands are all mixed native trees and the paths well laid out with short and longer walks for all.

We were excited to return as soon as The Hotel was open again. Everything was in place to make us feel safe. Staff were all working hard to ensure the customers were comfortable. Food was as delicious as ever. Staff were as friendly and efficient as always. We will be back soon.

I love this place, staff very helpful, nice and clean,restaurant out this world location to ironbridge just a walk away, local pubs some nights have live music, I suggest you invest in a yearly museum pass

We came as I missed my 50th due to lockdown with covid 19 Cant complain about anything service room dinning staff all great and what we needed to get away to It's our 3rd or 4th time here and we have already booked our room to return in a fortnight time just the ticket to relax

We stopped here to have while travelling back from Wales to break out journey and have a look at the Ironbridge. The room was large and clean and great value at £62 (with the virus situation we needed to book the option that would allow us to cancel). The hotel restaurant gets very good reviews so we booked a table and were not disappointed.

After a family bereavement I was looking for somewhere quiet, picturesque and relaxing, I couldn't of picked a better place. Lynn (on reception/breakfasts) was lovely as were all other staff. High standards followed in PPE by everyone so peace of mind if you have concerns about that. Some lovely walks and places to visit in area obviously. Thank you all so much.

Fantastic staff really freindly, fab room with balcony. Evening meal wonderful (staff heard it was our aniversary ,and gave us a card) really happy. Fantastic location. Breakfast was what was needed for a day out. Fab place wòuld recommend.

we stayed here for one night, booked through secret escapes. I have been very ill over the past 3 months and this was a chance to get away and relax. The hotel is lovely .... very relaxed and chilled ....the staff are friendly, attentive and professional. They impressed me with their cheerfulness even amidst a busy and demanding weekend. The breakfast was excellent .... yes it was a little slow at replenishment of items BUT that was not helped by a large party all arriving together and being very demanding We ate in the restaurant Chez Maw last night and the food was superb. The batter on the fish was light crispy and very tasty. And the lemon cheesecake was just gorgeous. Highly recommend. The service at table by the staff was the right blend of attentive without being intrusive The only downside was our room ..... it was so small. Hardly any room to move and the bed was not comfortable at all. The room was also very warm and i struggled with breathing as i am a brittle asthmatic. We did open the window but the noise from other guests at a function outside the room meant we had to close the window and i was wheezing and sweating all night. The room was the smallest i have ever stayed in a hotel and really was not suitable as a double

This was our second stay and the hotel met all our expectations again. Had a beautiful suite with large bathroom and spacious seating area. The staff again were amazing. So friendly and welcoming. Customer service is outstanding from every member of the team. Food was superb in the restaurant and breakfast hot and fresh with a wide selection of items. Beautiful hotel with lots of character in a beautiful location. Will be back soon.

We have just spent 2 nights at this hotel, and have had a wonderful stay, Lynne and Roy were so welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is so close to Ironbridge and all other attractions, will stay here again for sure.

A really relaxing hotel, nice lounges to sit in and relax ,a comfortable bar and an amazing restaurant to dine in. This hotel exceeds most others weve stayed in because the quality of rooms, lounges, bar and staff plus superb food make it stand out way above the rest. From the lady on reception ,to the bar staff and restaurant staff, our experience could not have been bettered. Without doubt the efforts of the staff here are the strengths of this hotel and what makes it an amazing place to stay. We will return asap without doubt.

we stayed at the valley on the weekend of 29 feb 2020 and despite all the problems surrounding ironbridge the staff pulled out all the stops to ensure that the wedding of our daughter went ahead we cannot thank them enough for everthing they did x the staff were all polite and attentive to everones needs x we would not hesitate to stay here again x thank you again mr james and mrs shirley evans x

Stayed here during the flooding of 2020 the staff couldn't do enough the room and bed was excellent the food was world class If all the best western hotels are like this I will be using them in the future had an excellent stay

I booked a over night break for my husband and I for valentines via secret escapes. Couldn't fault it, value for money was incredible as the food was of a very high standard (I think we paid £120) even tho it was partially flooded it didn't spoil our mini break (parents of a 2 year old!!)

Nothing is too much trouble at The Valley, from the moment you enter you are met by smiling faces who are eager to make your stay a pleasure. This is continued throughout the hotel when you meet any other staff cleaners etc. The food is excellent and enough for the heartiest appetite without over facing the more delicate appetite. The breakfast is self service and enough to set you up for the day. All served by friendly cheerful and efficient staff, who are obviously well trained in customer care, Needless to say we will return, look out for really good out of season and mid week deals. Excellent location easy stroll into Ironbridge . Good car parking plenty of spaces.

We recently have had our wedding at the Valley and it was brill from start to finish. The food & drink were awesome The staff were brill, especially the wedding organiser & matradee Rooms were brill and very comfy. The location of the Valley is perfect for a wedding and any other celebration etc.

This was a Secret Escapes deal which included dinner. We were not expecting the quality of food we had so it was a great bonus. Bed comfortable enough and big bathroom was good for me as I have mobility problems. Breakfast was too much for us but very tasty. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Will definitely go back but went at the height of storm Ciara which made travelling a bit hairy but well worth it!

I've stayed here twice recently with one experience significantly better than the other. First was a business stay where I was give a strange room facing the river in the eves of the hotel, it was awkward, cold and very very dated, the review on this would not have been good. However on my second visit on a personal trip, I selected purely based on location, I was with my wife and given a large double in the newer part of the building the rooms were night and day in experience, it was spacious, warm and recently decorated. So my review is based mainly upon that stay. Room tip: do not accept a room in the attic area, the other rooms are much nicer. Not sure why they even put guests there, when I was there on my first trip it was not that busy and since it was my first trip I assumed it to be the same standard as other rooms. It left a poor impression.

The hotel is lovely, ideally situated in walking distance to the Ironbridge, museums and there are plenty of nice eateries in walking distance too. The rooms are clean and spacious and quiet. The staff are all, including the cleaners, very friendly and always happy and like to chat with you. Breakfast is excellent, both the service and the food. The restaurant food is lovely and reasonably priced. Nice views of the park. Good sized car park too. Definitely recommend

I booked for my husband as a birthday treat as he was 50 been to Ironbridge in the summer and had said we would like to return and stay. Hotel is lovely very friendly staff nothing too much trouble.breakfast was yummy no other word to describe it staff really professional and attentive our room was so lovely clean plenty of space would definitely be back .

Lovely hotel, fantastic staff. Our room was nice and spacious, the bed was comfy and the shower was good. The bar service was a bit slow but the staff being so nice and cheerful made up for that. We ate in the restaurant and the food was absoluetly delicious. The breakfast was good. It was the staff that really made this hotel great, every member of staff that we encountered was great, friendly helpful and cheerful.

Stayed 1 night BB and evening meal. We had a lovely room and great food. The staff are all very helpful, nothing seems too much and they are all very nice. Recommend the restaurant, it really is very good food. The evening meal was excellent and we can say the same about the breakfast, we didn't go hungry! Right on the doorstep of Ironbridge and recommend a stop at the vintage shop too...

Excellent hotel in great location. Very quiet and comes with a high standard of service from the staff. Breakfast was of the highest standard which you should expect from a good hotel and the evening meal which was at the same level

Having spent a couple of nights here it's clear the hotel itself if tired and in need of major renovations and refurbishment. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help you but even while I right this review with one night left on our stay we are thinking of cutting our stay early which is something we never do. Had a bad nights sleep due to noisy guests in the room next door and when trying to sleep in the late afternoon to catch up the hotel decided to do noisy work in the corridor outside my room despite the “do not disturb/ quiet please” sign being on the door in clear view

The whole experience from the initial booking and viewing to the end of our wedding was perfect, it was smooth and easy. Nothing was to much trouble and our wedding went better than we could have hoped for. Every little detail was carefully attended to, every question and request dealt with quickly and professionally. The addition of Santa made it the perfect Christmas wedding and the kids and some adults was delighted to see him. It really was the perfect way to start our married life and the Christmas season

Overall lovely hotel, we were in room 5 and it was really nice. It's the upstairs floor and was clean and really well kept however some off the rooms downstairs were not as nice has this one. Staff really friendly prices are pretty the same as most hotels. Lovely walks from the hotel along with lovely pubs and restaurants we had a lovely weekend and really enjoyed ourselves

This is the second time at this gem of a hotel. We really enjoyed our stay last time so decided to book again. But this time we were put in room 1!!! I mentioned would the disco/ party cause us problems and was assured it wouldn't as it was in another part of building. What we weren't warned of was people laughing/ smoking/ swearing and shouting outside our window just as we were trying to go to sleep. Reception moved them on, but again at 12:45 I was awoken by shouting!! Such a shame as we had had a lovely evening but my husband had been at work since 6am!! If we had known about the party we would not have booked that night!! So disappointed. On a more positive note, breakfast was lovely and bed was comfy.

We booked our Christmas party night and everything was excellent. We also booked rooms for our staff and their partners and they all enjoyed the beautiful rooms in a beautiful location. The breakfast and service was brilliant and nobody could find one single complaint.

I recently returned to this hotel for a family celebration having previously attended a wedding. The whole hotel has a lovely and relaxed atmosphere and the hotel staff work hard to ensure you are well looked after. We had a private room which has recently been refurbished it was perfect for our family with the bar in the room. The food was exceptional! Well done to all at The Valley Hotel i look forward to a return visit.

Visited for a meal rather than to stay just before the power station landmark cooling towers were demolished. They have been a feature of the Severn Gorge since the 1950s. The hotel is clean, tidy, warm and comfortable. The meal was very good, hot, served by silver service. Plenty of staff in the dining room. There is wheelchair access but because, like everything else in and around Ironbridge, the hotel is on sloping levels, it is a bit of a meander to follow the route, but the hotel have done well. Car park is adequate but this too is on a slope. The name of the hotel could be better signed rather than Best Western, especially at night. If you miss it, turning round can be a bit of a bind as this is a narrow road so really you have to go on to the power station entrance to get a safe turning place, or to the roundabout if approaching from the west.

A return to Ironbridge and we again stayed at the Best Western Valley. Although the river was in flood, the hotel is fairly well protected being higher up the bank bit does however give a great location for exploring the fabulous Ironbridge gorge. Whilst the room are a little dated, the staff and service support the place well. And meeting some very dear friends for an evening meal, the food was really good.

A great welcome by the reception staff making sure that we were made comfortable after a long stressful day driving from Brighton at 4:30am in the morning and attending a relatives' funeral in Birmingham on the way. The room we were in was very comfortable and met all our needs. The staff in the hotel were very friendly from the reception staff, bar staff and even the handyman/groundsman in the car park that we met. !!! Merry Xmas to all the staff and your families and once again Thank You !!!!!

When we needed a hotel for a short weekend visit to Telford for a major event, we were forced to look beyond Telford itself and how glad we are that we did! The Valley hotel combines simple but efficient and cordial service, with a clean and modernised atmosphere and a beautiful location. Its restaurant also provided us with not only a superb range of choice for breakfast but also a very tasty, elegant and enjoyable dinner in Chez Maw, the hotels eatery. Beyond the hotel the surroundings are beautiful. We are treated to wonderfully clear and sunny weather which was the perfect setting to explore the town itself. Our only critisism was the noise of the nearby room using either the loo or water. It was a little noisy in that way. We returned home, a three hour drive, talking continually about it and with a smile from ear to ear.

I have been fortunate enough to call the Best Western Valley Hotel my second home as a result of work commitments in Telford. I would like to give a fair review of this hotel through the following 'Areas of Excellence' and 'Improvements' points: Areas of excellence - 1) The staff - absolutely brilliant; extremely friendly and accommodating. What a difference this makes when you're a frequent customer and returning from a difficult days work. Special shout out to Lynne on front-desk who constantly goes out of her way to ensure I am comfortable during my visits. I always look forward to returning to the hotel (and find myself eating-in more at the hotel due to the warmness of the staff). 2) The food - is undoubtedly excellent; one of the most impressive and consistent restaurants I have been to (bar food is also to an excellent standard). 3) The building / hotel itself - is a stunning historic building with tastefully decorated rooms (however some of the rooms do need updated - the hotel are addressing this through current low-customer-impacting renovations). 4) Location - a 5 minute walk from the stunning Iron bridge centre (bars / restaurants / cafes), the hotel itself is in a quiet area right by the river and park - the hotel garden is also beautiful! Improvements - 1) I've experienced a single room which in my opinion, was poor - the room and en-suite were very small and you could hear everything from next door. My experience included an elderly couple who I could hear clearly talking and snoring. This unfortunately ruined my first experience of the hotel. I really think this gives a poor view of the hotel to customers who are staying in this area and have requested a single room. 2) Beds generally too firm for my taste, however the staff are happy to place an extra mattress topper if you prefer a softer mattress. 3) The bar food menu is limited and does not offer any vegetarian options, though the chef and staff are very happy to accommodate to any meal requests if they have the ingredients available. Would strongly recommend the hotel adding another option (like sausage + mash / pasta dish) and definitely a vegetarian option (I've frequently had vegetarian pasta and risotto - so why not add them?). Overall, I'd love to give this hotel an 'Excellent' rating but there are areas of improvements which I feel need to be addressed. As a potential guest debating whether to book this hotel - I would strongly encourage you to do so. I believe it is one of the best hotels in Telford especially if you love the more country feel, enjoy your walking, appreciate good food and want to feel at home!

This well located hotel is within walking distance of the Iron Bridge, some of the museums and the main street with its pubs and restaurants. It is a good three star hotel with some character and Victorian features.. Single rooms are on the small size but I gather doubles are much larger. There is a nice bar and an excellent restaurant where we had both dinner and breakfast. Staff all very friendly and efficient.

Fantastic hotel, beautiful surroundings, exceptional staff and really, really brilliant food. Can not fault this hotel at all. Will definitely be visiting many more times and recommending to all our friends and family

There was a special offer so we decided to have a short break and stay a bit longer than we usually do we liked the new lift up to the first floor but our room was so near it created too much noise. The room was a nice size but the toilet was unsatisfactory and wouldn't flush successfully. We were offered a move to another room but it was much smaller and no where near as good as the first room. The bed was not very comfortable the chair made using the computer difficult.

We have stayed at this hotel previously so had an idea what to expect - only the best! We took advantage of an excellent B & B deal an we certainly had a bargain. The room was fine if a liitle cold to start. The food was excellent both breakfast and evening meal. The fish and chips really stood out. It was obvious that the produce was local and this was certainly the case with breakfast. It would be unfair to mention any staff by name as they were all excellent - the receptionist on arrival, the bar staff, waitresses and the cleaning staff. All very pleasant and took pride in their work. Very many tbanks for an excellent break.

Our bridge club,40 people, just spent the weekend here. It is a lovely hotel and the staff were simply amazing They organised and served 40 dinners and the food was really well cooked,well served and on piping hot plates. Thanks to all involved. Jean Chinn M.B.E

Single rooms are on the small side - single glazed too Bar has little character. Staff friendly and helpful but service is slow. Food good when you get it. I visited when there was a convention on and a private room full of diners - I think that stretched them too much

Stayed here for a few nights as I was working in Shropshire. Always good going anywhere near Ironbridge so to have a longer visit was a bonus. The hotel is set just through Ironbridge and easy to find, and has plenty of parking. Check in was hassle free and friendly, and my room was easy to find up 2 flights of stairs, No lift here!. The room was tidy and had a 4 poster, very nice. Good size bathroom although the shower was not the most powerful, still did the job though. Good bar area but the menu was very limited, probably fine for one or two nights but a struggle for longer! The chicken and bacon salad was nice. Breakfast buffet has all the ingredients to set you up for the day and all is fresh in the morning. I would recommend this hotel for business and leisure just for the location!! Thanks to all the staff there.

We visited this hotel as a gifted Afternoon Tea experience and were pleasantly surprised at the quaint, beautiful hotel we found ourselves at. The staff members were lovely and attentive, and the food was delicious. Ideal location just a few minutes walk away from the Iron Bridge itself! I would definitely recommend the Afternoon Tea!

Had our daughter's wedding weekend, food was delicious and we'll presented,from our evening meal Friday till breakfast Sunday. Wedding meal was served hot to everyone, good size portions and very tasty. Staff were so polite, helpful and so friendly. The main rooms for the wedding were decorated beautifully. Nothing was too much trouble. Yes some of the showers in the bedrooms were a little slow but its an old building and didn't spoil the stay. We would recommend this hotel to family and friends for weddings. Well be back to eat in the restaurant and sample afternoon tea.

We stayed at the Valley Hotel for an overnight stop on our way to Devon for a week's holiday and also on our return journey as it was exactly half way from our home. The Hotel is charming, staff all very friendly and pleasant. We booked dinner bed and breakfast, breakfast first class good quality sausages and bacon nicely cooked. Dinner was also excellent the chef has been at the hotel for 25 years I believe no wonder they have kept a hold of him he is very talented really lovely food and very well presented. If back in the area we will certainly stay at the Valley Hotel and would definitely recommend. Thank you

What can l say we used this hotel as a staging post between Devon and Northumberland for one night. We took advantage of the dinner bed and breakfast offer. We made the right choice. The food was fantastic both dinner and breakfast, amazing value. We thought the bar prices were a bit steep but hey. The room was clean and comfortable with everything you could need. The shining light was the staff. They were the best. Well done I would like to think we may be back.

The staff at The Valley made our stay perfect. Nothing was too much trouble, the evening waiting staff were very chatty with us, but also very polite. Will stay again. This is our 4th stay and would recommend to anyone.

Stayed here before and always found it quite good. Evening dinner is just gorgeous in the restaurant but breakfast wasn't so good being old pre cooked food Buffett kept warm in steamers. The room however was probably one of the worst I've stayed in out on the road in years. Dark and dingy with an electric shower that was either stone cold or scolding. Have a look at my pics oh and I was charged £121.50 for it!

This is a beautiful place set in amazing surroundings. The hotel is well presented with lovely decoration though out. The rooms are clean, tidy and well set out. We organised a large party to stay which the hotel was happy to accommodate, and were very helpful in organising the stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming during the time spent at the hotel. Would recommend a visit.

A warm welcome from the staff who continued to provide just the right level of attention during our stay. Rooms are relatively small but everything worked well and comfortable bed. The gardens are spectacular and overall location makes it ideal for visiting the Ironbridge attractions.

Had a great nights sleep in a large room. Wifi was good, TV was good and shower was good. Breakfast was also very good. Nice lobby to sit in and wait for others and also a nice bar. I would stay again. The tile decor is pretty cool. The area is very beautiful and I would love to come back for a weekend with my wife in the near future.

We are lucky to go away a lot and, especially for the price, were very disappointed with the hotel. The staff were without exception amazing, friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean but so much is 1970s that looks like it has been done up on the cheapest budget, ugly piping and trunking showing, cheap old taps, limited tiling where the remainder just looks tatty, hot taps that don't work in the bar loo, it's a long list. It did not help that our room had the wrong size duvet cover which was worn and ripped. Quickly sorted but how could anyone use that linen and think it's OK One final thing, we were not in the main house and our room had no outside windows. Brilliant staff can't disguise the fact it's over priced

Stayed in new part of hotel as it had a lift.room was at the side of the hotel nice sized room but quite dark and warm had to leave window open. We went for the twin beds but it was like sleeping on boards very uncomfortable.decor very tired and drab.it is a shame because it is a lovely hotel friendly staff and a good breakfast.with a bit of updating and premiere inn beds would be better still

I booked this hotel at the last minute as a short break and wasn't disappointed. It's an established, older property just on the edge of the town and has plenty of parking. Because it's older, then the layout is quirky, as was the room we were in which was up in the attic and had 1 bed as you opened the door, but opened out into another room with a double and en suite. has lovely tiles along the stairs. There isn't a lift however. The staff were excellent - very friendly and good customer service. The breakfast was varied, with a good choice of cooked and continental, and the evening meals were varied with daily specials, good portions and beautifully presented. The only downside was that the bed was too hard - a vey personal thing, but it did take the edge off the stay.

Chose this hotel because I have a rewards card for Best Western. We were not disappointed. It is in a lovely old building, with a beautifully decorated hallway of local tiles. However, we did have to change rooms. The room we were given had a vile drain smell, it was in an annexe and the walls were thin, so noisy too. The next morning we asked to be moved. The staff were excellent, could not do enough to help us and moved us to a room in the main house. No smell, and nowhere near as noisy. This is a good result, as the hotel was quite busy, we were a bit concerned they wouldn't be able to move us. Despite my comment about the drain smell, the hotel is clean, but the beds not so comfortable. I'm glad we were only sleeping there three nights. The staff are so lovely and friendly. We had a bar snack one evening, a meal in the restaurant another evening and breakfast each morning, the food is excellent, and plenty of it. Even more exceptional was the hot breakfast buffet, it was hot, and the plates too! There are TVs and hairdryers in the room, as well as toiletries, there is WiFi, but that didn't apply to us. Even though at the rear of the hotel there are some excellent gardens and views, sadly we were not in a room that over looked them, so we did not have a good view from either room. Our original room with the drain smell was a very good size, the quieter, clean smelling room was smaller, but fine for two of us for three nights.

Booked for 1 night. What a great location. Never been to the area before and we were stunned by its beauty. Staff were really welcoming. Lovely room, the only issue was water pipes kicking in before 0700 (great alarm), and a bulb out in a side lamp. Good breakfast. We will be back.

We booked a last minute short break and were not disappointed.Lovely hotel with very helpful informative staff. We had a lovely comfy room, which was very clean and well stocked teatray and toiletries. The Breakfast was piping hot and plentiful. Great Location and plenty of parking.

Thought it time to write another review for one of our fave places to stay ! The staff as usual were fabulous.. some of the most lovely staff ever all of them ... the core staff ( they know who they are) are fantastic! The housekeeping staff are also very helpful. Although the hotel is great and in a lovely location the restaurant staff and menu are consistently fab too ! We happen to be around at time of a small wedding there and that was so beautifully taken care of. You can see when the staff are up against it but they are always polite, accommodating and lovely.. this never changes ! We look forward to our next Christmas at this little gem and our little extended family in Ironbridge ! Thank you ALL once again ! Denise & Philip xx

This was our second stay at this hotel and it didn't disappoint. The staff are lovely, they are always very helpful. The rooms are cosy and comfortable and very clean the decor fits in with the age of the hotel. The restaurant served fabulous food and delicious puddings. We will be back again.

Attended for a friend's wedding along with other family and friends. To the obvious disgust of the female receptionist we arrived early in order to catch up with family and to hopefully decorate the bride and grooms room. We were told by the sour faced receptionist that the rooms weren't ready and wouldn't be until 2 p.m. I didn't want and didn't expect to be able to have my room early all I wanted was for the room to be decorated with the balloons and champagne we had brought with us. I left it at that and having obviously overheard my conversations with other guests there was a change of heart and we were told they would put them in the room when it was ready and before the bride and groom arrived. My party had 4 rooms between us all of various sizes and varying degrees of comfort. My room was the size of a shoebox with a small double bed and just enough room to walk round it with window's that didn't open, yet I paid the same price as others in the party. The room was clean but overbearingly hot but on request a fan was provided even though I had to assemble it myself at 3 am in the morning, not good. The bar staff were brilliant but beware the drinks are very very expensive. Breakfast was brilliant when we eventually got it. We had to sit for 20 minutes while the food was restocked and told that it was because everyone had come down at the same time, surely they must know how many guests are in the hotel and the fact that breakfast finishes at 9.45 will mean that guests will potentially come for breakfast at the same time especially a wedding party. On a positive note the two young gentlemen (possibly brother's) on reception and in the bar were a credit to the company. Plesant, polite and really friendly but don't think we would stay again.

Stayed here while attending a wedding. Nice enough location and building, although mistakes with the reservation, a bizarre 'upsell' process where they ask you to bid for an early check-in, and a rather brusque receptionist who gave the impression that checking us in was very inconvenient, gave us a pretty poor initial impression. However, the worst was yet to come - because one of our party was a wheelchair user, we had been told to use the entrance through the bar and restaurant at the rear of the hotel as the main front entrance to reception is not accessible for wheelchairs. This was awkward on arrival as we had to move people in the bar to get through, and when we returned from the wedding just after midnight we found the door locked, although we could see bar staff and guests in the bar. When we knocked on the window the staff member would not come to the door or window and just kept pointing that we should go to the front entrance, despite the fact that we kept trying to tell her through the window we had a wheelchair and couldn't use that entrance. After saying this about three times she just turned her back on us. Fortunately we prevailed on some guests to let us in. The staff member couldn't have been less concerned or apologetic, simply saying how was she meant to know there was a wheelchair out there (and it wasn't a wheelchair, it was a guest in a wheelchair). It was so upsetting that we didn't stay up for a drink with other wedding guests as planned and instead just went to bed. Speaking as a very experienced traveller who has stayed at countless hotels, and many times with a wheelchair user, this is one of the worst experiences I've had and I simply wouldn't go back. We complained on check out and were told our comments would be forwarded to the management team. Gave it two stars as the rooms were clean and we did encounter some staff who were pleasant.

We held an event here on Saturday to celebrate my finishing cancer treatment. From the initial phone call to Saturday I cannot fault the staff at all! The buffet provided was plentiful and delicious and for the price I think a bargain! We stayed over night and the rooms and breakfast were lovely too. Many thanks to Lisa and the team for a very special night :)

Fantastic 3 days at this lovely hotel would highly recommend visiting . All staff extremely efficient , helpful went out of their way to make stay pleasant plus wonderful food in restaurant . Fantastic location .

We booked this hotel as part of a stay and dine package after a day visiting Blists hill. From check-in to check-out we could not fault our stay. We had a lovely spacious family room with quality toiletries and welcome tray. Despite looking over the car park, it was very quiet. The grounds of the hotel make for a beautiful backdrop whilst enjoying a glass of pre-dinner wine. Our 3 course vegetarian meal in Maws restaurant was fine dining at its best and the child's menu was excellent value for money. The staff are absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. We can't wait to go back, we have a 6 year old daughter who was very sad to be leaving!

Stayed here with our Grandson. Hotel is lovely, OK some reviewers say it needs updating, but there is evidence that the new owner is doing this and if he were to do it all at once then the Hotel would have to close. So all is fine. Our room was on the top floor, bit of a hike, but burns off the calories after the lovely food they provide. The biggest asset to the hotel is the Staff who work very hard, extremely professional and so friendly. The owner is very fortunate to have such wonderful people working fior him.

A nice hotel in a lovely setting, This is certainly one of the best hotels i have stayed in in the Village, didn't get chance to try the restaurant but i am told it is Excellent' The breakfast was good and the bed was comfortable..

Had a good weeks stay as part of a group. The food was excellent as we're the staff who were very friendly and helpful. Hotel coped well with a high level of activity including weddings. There are extensive gardens that lead down t the river.

Hubby and I stayed in this lovely hotel as our Goddaughters wedding was held here. We received a friendly and helpful welcome on arrival. Our room was lovely and clean and well presented. Tea and coffee facilities provided. A fan which came in handy as the weather was hot. Our meals in the restaurant were excellent as was the service. The wedding, also held here, was beautiful and again all the food of a high standard. The gardens are well kept and tables and chairs provided so you can enjoy sitting outside. You can also access the park from the gardens. We found all the staff friendly and so kind and helpful. Definitely a hotel to revisit!

Delighted at not having to share the beautiful terrace with smokers who are relegated to a tiny area below the car park! And no pets are allowed (apart from guide dogs) HOORAY! Not everyone wants to share their holiday with dogs. The hotel itself is full of character, with original Jackfield tiles in the hall & staircase. Food was excellent, as was service generally although nothing was done to remedy the noisy slow-draining bath & hand-basin during our stay in spite of reporting the problem on our first morning. We found it strange that we were told to report for dinner 15 minutes before the time we'd booked & reached the conclusion that this was to try to sell us aperitifs in the bar (which we didn't want) as staff were more interested in selling drinks to other guests rather than giving us the dinner menus we'd requested. So although we intend to return to Ironbridge it may not be to this hotel.

Fabulous Wedding Venue in gorgeous Ironbridge. Staff were amazing and could not do more to help. Paige is an awesome Wedding Coordinator. Wedding Feast was totally Vegan and loved by all the guests, most of whom were meat eaters. Deserts were to die for. Evening DJ was great. Staff could not do enough to make this special day as relaxed and seamless even though the outside ceremony was only confirmed 30 minutes beforehand due to threatened rain - the staff just set up the ceremony both outside and in a reception room so we could have changed right up to the start time. A beautiful day in a fabulous setting, loved by all who attended. Thank you all so much.

Excellent hotel set in beutiful area, is one of our favourites, staff always happy and welcoming. Hotel always clean and tidy. Food good atmosphere very ambient, ample car parking.we have been here on several occasions and would recommend to anyone.

What a wonderful hotel with fabulous staff, very clean excellent parking, and within easy walking to the bridge in all its glory also easy walking to nearby pubs and restaurants should you wish, but the food in the hotel restaurant was very good and a big thank you to both Chris and the chef with there help in sorting my wife's dietary needs out. Yes there was a wedding on while we were there had no impact on us at all, the hotels own website does mention this and if you think it will bother you to call them before booking. We was in the bar in the evening while said wedding was happening and not one guest came in even when the bar in the function room closed. We will be back Thank you for an excellent stay.

Cute hotel on the edge of a lovely park and by the river. Bed was a little lumpy but lovely long bath tub that I could lay in. Free Wi-fi, friendly staff. Didn't eat in restaurant due to other plans, would happily stay again if I was ever in the town.

We stayed here one night on a trip to Ironbridge with other family members who live in the UK. Although this is a Best Western it is not a typical chain hotel. It is in an old house that has been converted to a hotel and it has lots of charm. Our room was small but that is to be expected in an older house. The common areas are nice and the outdoor patio is lovely. We enjoyed tea outdoors since we were having wonderful weather. The location is great-practically walking distance to many of the Ironbridge sights and museums. The house used to belong to one of the men engaged in manufacturing tile in Ironbridge. As we had just been to the tile museum, we were pleased to see the beautiful and unique tile on the walls in the common areas. We had breakfast at the hotel and it was fine. We didn't eat dinner there because it was booked up, but there are many pubs and restaurants within walking distance. I would stay here again if I was back in Ironbridge.

location is all this hotel has going for it. visited ironbridge and wanted a local hotel and this place seemed to fit the bill. It is very convenient for ironbridge situated along the main road in a nice park setting. easy walking distance of the bridge shops museums and restaurants. Thats about as good as it gets for this hotel! There was a large wedding a the hotel and obviously large numbers were staying - no problem with the reception as couldn't hear that but as guests lett or went to their rooms there was significant amounts of noise as they moved about the hotel late in the evening. there was more noise as guests departed fairly early on the morning. if you're booking this hotel at the weekend be aware that they have wedding receptions and that there may be disruption as a result. our room itself was rather small - smaller than the travelodge we'd stayed i the night before and 3 times the price. quilt on the bed was small and not really large enough for a double bed and a couple. there was room to get around the bed but not a great deal more. The ensuite was reasonable although there was a large step into the bath/shower. however the tap in the bathroom was constantly dripping, not a big deal you'd think but once we'd got to bed and the noise from the wedding guests had died down, all i could hear was the plip plip plop of the tap - i got up to see if i could give it an extra turn to stop the irritating noise. I made the mistake of turning the light on, which stated the extractor fan - so for the next ten minutes i couldn't hear the tap for the whir of the fan, when that stopped - plip plip..... eventually i got to sleep. about ready to tackle the new morning up i got for a shower only to discover that it wasn't up to the task. the shower head was leaking water from everywhere but where it should come from. getting any semblance of a flow required the temperature to be turned dow to tepid. when i advised the receptionist about the shower it was received in a rather matter of fact, couldn't really give a toss sort of way. as we were walking out she did, off hand, offer us a complimentary breakfast - no doubt safe in the knowledge that breakfast had already finished for the day. we didn't bother with diner in the restaurant - choice on the menu wasn't great for us and frankly, any restaurant with chez in it's name is to be avoided as too pretentious and belonging in the 1980s.there were better alternatives in the town. This was no three star experience - we won't be going back and can't recommend the hotel - look for something else.

This is the second time we have stayed here, this time for one night for our anniversary. Lovely hotel, had a small room this time but had everything we needed. Unfortunately it was a very humid day and night and could only open one window slightly, but overall stay excellent

I stayed here with my wife for three nights in July as part of our tour around The Peak District and Shropshire. We went through the hotels own website and took advanatage of a deal they had for a standard room, full board and also a pass for the Ironbridge Museums, so all in all quite good value. We were initially given a room on a top floor which was bizarre in that once in the room you had to go up more stairs to the bathroom! My wife would have struggled with this so we managed to change rooms to a side room. The weather was hot..and so were the rooms! We had a fan in the cupboard which we used but slept on top of the covers. Air Con would be a welcome addition! The room was nice however.We ate in the hotel restaurant and found the staff very helpful and polite. Meals were very good! At the rear there is an outside seating area with great views of the woods beyond. You can walk from the hotel staright down to the river (Kingfisher seen twice!) Short, five minute walk into the main area of Ironbridge with some lovelly shops and pubs! Small Co-op nearby. Plenty of free car parking in the hotel grounds. Well worth visiting the Museums-particlary Blist Hill (the Old style Town) and Enginuity (which is excellent for kids-lots of hands on stuff!)

Lovely hotel in an ideal location for the centre of Ironbridge. Beautiful gardens. Hotel was spotless our room was large with a balcony. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Restaurant excellent , must try dinner if you stay.

We stopped here for one night to visit the Ironbridge Gorge museums. We had one of the rooms at the side, through a door and up some stairs. The room was large and quiet with tea, coffee and water. The room was clean although the quilt cover was torn at the edge which did not create a great impression. We chose not to eat at the restaurant on this occasion having just had a weekend in Wales with rather a lot of food! It is about a 10 minute walk into town, you can walk down through the gardens to the river where there is a footpath part of the way. It is well positioned for all the museums. Breakfast offered the usual selection and was topped up regularly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and had a good night's sleep. Would certainly choose this hotel again if visiting Ironbridge.

What a wonderful place to turn the clock back, learn some interesting facts about casting iron and making pottery. What clever people the Victorian's were. If you are looking for a good hotel this is it with a central location.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights.It is a great location in a beautiful village with traditional pubs nearby and fantastic scenery.The hotel is a grand building set in its own splendid grounds with plenty of car parking available. Friendly and informative staff greeted us on arrival and we had a clean tidy room on the first floor.All amenities are there such as flat screen tv,phone, toileteries and a queen size bed. Shower was a little old and fixed in a low corner of the ceiling so not good if you are tall.A comfy nights sleep and really quiet. Breakfast was a reasonable continental one but you could upgrade to a full english.

only managed to stay two nights , but the hotel is very welcoming and comfortable. The area is outstanding for walking or just strolling around. After a good day walking the hotel was good to come back to for a good pint and a really good bar meal. will definitely stay again

The hotel was clean and very acceptable and the staff were attentive and friendly. The only major problem we experienced was the water pressure in the shower. We were in a ground floor room which was acceptable but small with a tiny window which impacted on the amount of natural light coming through. It was adequate for our short stay but along stay could prove problematic as there is very little storage space for clothing.

This is a good hotel with friendly and helpful staff, and it is well placed for visiting the many attractions of the Ironbridge Gorge. Our room was comfortable and, although it did not have air conditioning, the windows opened wide. The bathroom was well equipped and the shower seemed to unleash the full force of Coalbrookdale's mighty water power on the bather's head. Strangely there was no volume control: it was all or nothing. We were disappointed that our towels were replaced after a single day's use, despite the responsible notice by the bathroom mirror. But in all other respects the hotel lived up to our expectations.

We stayed here as wanted to get an Ironbridge passport and visit the 10 museums. If you're prepared to walk a few miles the hotel is an ideal base as can leave vehicles in their free car park and walk to Blists Hill in one direction and Darby Houses in the other direction. The staff on reception and in the bar were very pleasant. We didn't book breakfast but went to Dale End Cafe around the corner for a fraction of the price. Our bedroom (3) was small. Not really anywhere to put a suitcase so good thing we were travelling light for two nights. There was no air conditioning and if we wanted to open the window there was some sort of noisy extractor/vent on the roof outside our room. The bathroom was a bit bizarre with the light switch being over 6 feet in the air so I could only just reach it and the taps on the basin being back to front, i.e. cold and hot opposite way round to usual and taps turning clockwise rather than anti-clockwise. Perhaps if we'd been given a different room at a cheaper price my rating would be higher.

Lovely hotel with character but not suitable for the less mobile. Access in and out of the hotel is tricky. Ideal for the Ironbridge area with lots to see and do. Food good but need to book if you want to eat in the restaurant.

We were a large group, Mainly vegetarians so the restaurant was unable to offer more than a simple pasta. Breakfast was well served with a very attentive staff. The hotel has beautiful decorative tiles that are hard to come by these days and the large chimneys of the Maws factory where they were made is a good reminder of the pride artisans took in their work. The superbly crafted iron bridge is a short walk away and even with the constant drizzle it was a lovely walk, where we could cut through a flight of stairs under a church. There's a shop selling only teddy bears with Christopher Robin's Alpha Farnell teddy bear - Edward as its show stopper.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful and overall enjoyed the stay but wish the bedroom was anywhere near as large as the space in the corridor outside. Our stay was for only 2 nights so did not bother to let reception know until we checked out, apparently we could have been moved. The room was on the ground floor not far from the reception but was only big enough to stand up between the bed and wardrobe so could not pass each other without one of us sitting on the bed! We arrived just before 2pm check in expecting to check in but necessarily to be allowed in to the room but was asked to wait until 2pm by which time there were other people also waiting. The restaurant food was good quality and would recommend the goats cheese mouse it was delicious. I would say though to book as although there are a number of tables they do not allow them all to be filled. It does mean the service is very good. The bar staff were helpful for advice and makes a great hot chocolate.

A group of us stayed 8th June 2019, we pre ordered food as requested by the Hotel. We were met by staff who had our room numbers for fast check in, and our luggage was taken to rooms for us. Our room was number 39. It was bright and very clean. Bathroom was modern with excellent shower over bath. Very comfortable bed. Our evening meal was served to the whole party with bright, cheerful efficiency. Our food was excellent and very filling. Breakfast was self service, plenty of choice. We would definitely recommend it. The gardens were beautiful.

We cannot understand why this hotel is rated 4 star. Staff were absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. As for the meal we couldnt fault it, if anything too much food. Will definitely stay here again, beutifull location on the banks of the river Severn.

The staff here were excellent and breakfast was pleasant good quality but not a lot of choice but this hotel needs to be updated extremely tired and worn out disappointed with BEST WESTERN. will return to ironbridge as it's a beautiful place and the people are lovely but not this hotel sorry ☹️

We stayed at this hotel to visit the surrounding area & museums. The interconnecting rooms were a bit dated but clean although very warm all the time despite having the (small) window open. The staff were all very friendly & helpful and the food excellent. Would definitely visit again but would ask for a ground floor room as they may be cooler. There is a lift.

Just arrived back from a mid week break at best western ironbridge. The hotel is lovely and situated in stunning surroundings. The 3 night package was excellent value for money and the food was delicious. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

Stayed here using Best Western points: and that might have been the problem. Booked a twin room and, to put it mildly, it was grim. So tiny there was no room for a luggage stand. Furnishings so tired as to be exhausted. Stained carpet. The predominant colour seemed to be a sickly beige. The room was also incredibly hot, paricularly in the bathroom and no amount of a/c dial twiddling could change that so maybe it was broken. This was not a warm day outside. Only one half of the small window opened so not a lot of relief from that either. The beds were awful. You could feel ridges (springs?) in the mattresses and my child had to sleep on top of a duvet. I did ask if we could have another, better, room but got told there was no availability and we had the best twin room available anyway. In the morning I went down to breakfast at just before 9.15 and got told breakfast had finished. Luckily the staff were lovely and got together a breakfast for me. The food in general, however, was poor. We had a bar meal in the evening: if you squeezed a chip oil literally dripped from it and the same with the onion rings. Both were inedible. My child had such a bad night we had to leave after one night of a booked two night stay. So, poor accommodation though other rooms such as the 'executive rooms', might be better. There is no excuse for the food though. Friendly staff in the main.

We are just home from a two night stay at The Valley Hotel. This place is an gem of a place, old fashioned, in the best possible sense. The building, grounds and rooms are lovely but the difference is made by the staff. Whichever role they have, we found them to be professional, polite and above all happy in their work, and it showed. My partner has mobility difficulties and the room, and more importantly, the bathroom was perfect for us. We had the cooked breakfast which was as good as we're ever had, and ate in the restaurant Chez Maw. The main course of pulled lamb was amazing, I was tempted by the chocolate torte with rum and raisin.. reminded me of a favourite chocolate bar... but a million times better. So if you're looking for quality in every way, The Valley is for you.

Great 3* hotel, pretty historical house, surrounded by mature trees. Just a short walk to the famous Ironbridge and town shops. There is a park at the bottom of the garden with views of the river. We were lucky enough to be surprised by the 1940's enactment weekend which was excellent entertainment. Every member of staff made our stay enjoyable, our room was huge and clean, full of light and quiet even though we over looked the car park. The only things I didn't like was the bathroom had plain glass I forgot to pull the blind so but it possibly a listed building therefore could not be altered. The bed was again huge but just too firm for my personal preference. There are some very steep steps from the car park down to the reception avoid, use the two steps further down or use the bar entrance for safety. The breakfast was good for the price. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening, there is a good mixture of restaurant in the town and close by but would recommend booking at peak season. I would stay here again.

We have stopped here on several occasions now & it us always a brilliant stay from start to finish. Comfy beds, brill food, excellent staff plus plenty of other activities to do in the local area should you want to.

i've stayed here before and it never disappoints. The staff go the extra mile regularly and the rooms are adequate without being exceptional. My only gripe is the breakfast experience. We were down as 'continental' and it was a little basic to say the least. You only were given two rounds of toast which is a little mean. The pastries topped it up but it was all a little too bland for me. Yes you could upgrade but I feel it could be offered as complimentary for one of the nights as were are now regular Best Western customers.

I recently had my wedding day at the best western Valley Hotel. What an amazing hotel to do it at. The staff were fantastic and the venue was amazing I couldn't of asked for a better accommodating staff team

Lovely old building set in beautiful grounds, very peaceful, with free parking. Just a short stroll away is the Iron Bridge with a few shops and cafes. Also the Museum of the Gorge is very closely. Bought an Annual Passport ticket which covered us for Blists Hill Village Museum and many others close by. All fascinating in their own ways and learnt alot about the history of the area. Hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, and food was excellent. My Husband has dairy intolerance and they adapted food for him without any fuss. Can highly recommend.

This was a short break for my wife and I following an earlier visit I made to the hotel in 2016. Once again, service was impeccable and our visit was enhanced by your free passport to all Ironbridge museums during our stay - which we put to use fully

This is a traditional hotel with friendly staff, good food a lovely service. Great for a weekend in Ironbridge. As it is quite an old building there are features that reflect the area, which is nice, but of course that comes with creaky floorboards and a particular style. Rooms are clean and pleasant. Restaurant evening meal was excellent.

Dated rooms , very uncomfortable hard bed too. I slept on duvet just to get some softness...not ideal. Original room given was part below ground level and very dark. On complaining we were moved to a much nicer positioned room albeit very dated. The gardens and surrounding walkways are lovely. Breakfast was very good. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

We stayed here for two nights using a voucher and had a great stay. The hotel is set in lovely gardens leading down to the river and about a 10 minute walk from the bridge and a few lovely shops. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. There are some lovely walks in the area and maps can be picked up from the Visitor Information Centre just down the road.

This hotel is on my doorstep and I have been to many business network meetings there over the years and attended Christmas parties. My wife and I stayed in a large room with balcony and had a bottle of bubbly in the room on arrival. We had a two course meal in Chez Maws restaurant and had breakfast the following morning. he room was clean and well apportioned with a lovely view from the balcony. The meal in Chez Maws was just outstanding. I would go as far as to say that it is the best place to eat in Telford. Real fine dining with excellent service. The breakfast was a really good quality too, with polite and attentive staff waiting on us. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Ironbridge or even just for a night away together. brilliant!

This is probably the cleanest, friendliest hotel I have stayed in. Room spotless. Victorian tiles on walls in corridor gleamed. Dinner and breakfast wonderful. Service perfect. Can't wait to go again.

We stayed at the Valley using a two night gift voucher. This was the second time we had stayed at the hotel so we had an expectation that we would be happy with the accommodation. It is a great location a short walk from the famous bridge and numerous pubs/coffee shops. The staff are helpful and friendly and the rooms comfortable and clean, but the top accolade goes to the chefs. The evening meals and breakfast were excellent, as good as we have had in hotels of this grade!
