"Horrible customer service experience"

On Saturday my visiting parents & I returned from a weekend family getaway to discover that there had been an apartment fire in my building that morning. Thankfully no one was hurt and the fire department acted quickly to contain it. Through the grace of God, my apartment was completely spared! But I am evacuated until the inspectors give the green light to return. So I booked a stay at the Best Western Noho for two nights because it's in my neighborhood. My place wasn't ready to return to after the first two nights, so I extended my stay for an additional night without incident. The inspection wasn't finished by this morning (4th day) so I needed one more night, which I booked online. When I went to the front desk to sign the paperwork I was told that I couldn't keep extending my stay one night at a time because each time I came down to sign for the room I was putting the staff at risk for exposure. I let them know I was evacuated & because things are up in the air for me that daily extensions are my best option. That's when Megan at the front desk let me know that she and her manager Terri made an exception for me with the first extension but will only allow me to book multiple nights from here on out. So there. Now, I understand limiting guest interactions which is why I followed all protocols for masks, hand sanitizer use & social distancing. I don't wish covid-19 on anyone. But I cannot see how accommodating my needs is putting anyone at a higher risk of exposure than had new guests been checking into the same room each day for four days. If a room gets booked, someone has to sign for it. That's how hotels work. And because of my extenuating circumstances, I can't predict how many nights I need, it could be one or 30!! If there is fear of accommodating a guest, then clearly that hotel is not in a position to offer hospitality & should shut down. Instead they accepted my money then policed my interactions based on a made up policy. As a black person I can't help but question if there is more to their unwillingness to accommodate. Needless to say, I cancelled my stay and I'm going where I will be treated with respect as a paying guest. After calling other hotels in my area, I've been assured me that as long as hotel safety protocol is being followed, daily extensions are allowed until it's safe for me to go back home. I must say that I am grateful to have a home to return to, it could have been worse. But the way I've been treated in a time of uncertainty does not sit right with me. *fin* #BlackDollarsMatter

"Nice new hotel in older part of town"

This Best Western is newly re-modeled - looks like brand new. The room was comfortable and well appointed and clean. There was nice (and reasonably priced) small market area in the lobby to grab some drinks or snacks - and they also offered complimentary cookies, water, and coffee. As others have said, the neighborhood is a bit of a mixed bag. I have friends that live very nearby and even walking around a bit at night wasn't too intimidating - just use common sense city precautions. I do wish the hotel would have been a bit more secure - the entrance was sliding glass doors and the elevator was right by those doors. If the security guard wasn't in the vicinity, I can see it would not be difficult for someone to slip in and get up to the guest rooms. In fairness, I never saw the area without the security guard present. Another slightly odd thing was the notice that hotel guests were not allowed to have guests in their rooms from 10pm to 6am. I admittedly broke this rule as my friends visited me both nights I was there, even if it was just to make sure I made it to my room ok. Housekeeping did a great job as well - very thorough. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again!

All staff were friendly and courteous especially Nick in the dining room and Ibrahim the security guy. Both of them went out of their way to help us 3 gals. It felt like home. The outdoor hot tub was the best treat! We will come again!

"Tragic"

Terrible area for one very unsafe looking and then you walk inside to a unprofessional staff on top of it . two ladies doing nothing at the front desks did not welcome us , did not say hello and let us sit there until we said we need to check in . we asked for the " manager" who never came out... we heard her ask "what did we want" but never came out of her office . horrible from the start . not coming back Defintley wouldnt recommend . they do not know " hospitiality " what a joke

Our guest service agents are expected to greet each and every guest as they enter the hotel so that we may provide them with the services needed. I will look into this situation and do some additional training if needed. I also assure you that the only times I am not available to speak with guests is when I am off property or in a meeting. I really wish there was some way I could give the Best Western NoHo Inn ZERO stars. I work as a travel manager for TV production, so I'm responsible for getting talent, crew members and producers all over the US and abroad. Today, I had to deal with unnecessary drama and wasted time I can't get back, all because of LIZBETH at the Front Desk. She refused to check in my camera operator, who was expected at the office for a production meeting. She claimed that no credit card authorization was on file. This happens, we send it again. No big deal, but not with Ms. Lizbeth. She said the GM has to approve. Great let's talk to the GM. Out today. Okay, call them their cell phone. Sorry, can't do that either. Well, we are at an impasse now and people are waiting. HOW IN THE WORLD IS THIS GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, or any SERVICE at all???? Long story short, she DID have the authorization form and was on some kind of power trip, I guess. Your staff represents your business Best Western NoHo. Don't bother with this nonsense. You have been warned.

The rooms are really nice. The area is pretty standard for North Hollywood on Burbank. I could barely sleep because of the noise level of other guests and a security guard there at almost 1am. There were children screaming in the pool till about a quarter to 11. I didn't sleep while I stayed there and had to be up at 4am to get to work. Overall it's really pretty and the rooms are super nice but quiet hours are almost nonexistent there so I'm definitely not returning.

Booked a room for the Rose Bowl game. Stayed TWO nights. Staff (Frank & Jill), along with GM Teri, were so amazing. Warm welcome, clean rooms, excellent service!! Can't wait to return in the fall with my grandchildren to go to Universal Studios. EVERYTHING about this hotel was fantastic. The attention to detail, along with the furnishings, made this my new favorite Southern California destination. THANK YOU!!!

"Comfy stay close to Hollywood "

The hotel is located around 10min walk from North Hollywood Metro which really saves time if u plan to visit universal and Hollywood blvd. Stores and some local restaurant opposite to the hotel building. Some ppl mentioned abt the neighborhood. But I find it quite alright, there are only a couple of homeless near the metro. The best thing abt the property is the free coffee machines, cookies and snacks in the lobby. The staff is helpful. The rooms are modern , clean and comfortable. It's got a nice pool and outdoor area to sit down. Also there is a roof top sit down space for the guests. Overall I highly recommend this hotel , the price is on the higher side but I guess it's the same in all LA.

"All Form, No Function"

As many of the reviewers have already said, the bathrooms in this place are creepy. I stayed here with my wife and two teenagers. Trying to shower was so uncomfortable. We actually had to turn the bathroom lights off and use our cellphone lights as to not silhouette ourselves to the rest of the family. Motion sensor light came on whenever one of us used the bathroom, waking me up at least twice over the two night stay. Part of the vanity in the bathroom was broken and just left laying on the floor. One of the main reasons we booked this place was because of the pool/ hot tub. The hot tub was out of service indefinitely because they couldn't figure out why it was leaking. Instead of draining it, they let it drip down into the parking lot below which dripped onto my car. The coffee pot we had didn't work and when we got one that did, we realized that the amount it brews is too much for the cups they provide which made quite a mess the first time we used it. The room was clean and the staff was friendly, but this was not an experience I would want anyone else to go through. I don't know if they can even address these issues, but I would give them the opportunity. I like most of the Best Westerns we've ever stayed at.

As for the shower, we completely agree and just today had black out blinds that roll up installed on the outside of the shower wall. This allows you to choose if you want the extra light and allows for privacy. As for the hot tub, we too are frustrated. When you build a brand new property, just like a new home there are always issues to work out. I assure you we are working diligently to fix this issue permanently! As for the coffee pot, we are sorry to hear you had an issue with the first one. We truly hope you will stay with us again at our beautiful modern property and allow us to provide you with the excellent customer care we pride ourselves in.

A beautiful hotel with very hip and modern decor centered around music which is appropriate for North Hollywood. My only mild complaint would be price, it's a little expensive for not serving a free breakfast. That is one of the best sellers of Best Western, but some locations just don't serve breakfast and it's a shame.

All the staff were very friendly, in particular Jill who checked us in. Her and Meagan treated us like friends not customers and went over and beyond to accommodate our needs. The rooms were very clean and spacious. There was a nice outdoor pool area as well.

"Horrible Housekeeping and Poor Design."

The interior of the hotel was nicely furnished and decorated even though the design of the bathroom is horrible and the water hardly got above temperate and sometimes not even that at all. The bartender in the restaurant and Frank at the front desk was great. On our 2nd night we called for stay over service and were missed completely. When we returned around 10:30 that night I called the desk who apologized and brought us towels. We were told that a note would be left to make sure we received service the next day. When we returned late the next night we "received" service. The housekeepers made the beds, but didn't change the sheets, cleaned the coffee stand and hung up the towels that were brought to us the night before. However they left coffee residue all over the desk area and the bathroom sink, left coffee garbage on the sink counter, did not empty the trash, clean the bathroom, wipe down the surfaces in the room or vacuum. In fact we found someone else's false eyelash in our room. For a BW Plus this hotel service and poor amenities, like the rags they call towels, made for a disappointing stay, especially as someone who works in the hotel industry and understands operations and service requirements in a hotel.

"THIN WALLS, BAD PARKING, Good decor"

This is clearly a newly built property (not renovated). It has a modern look to it, bar, rooftop patio, etc. The problem is it has SUPER thin walls and practically no parking. We were woken up all three nights we stayed there. One night the couple next door decided to have a fight at 4am and you could hear every word. We could even hear her crying! It wasn't an exceptionally loud fight, but you could still hear everything. One night the people in the room above us had a bunch of people in their room after the bar closed. Again, I don't believe they were out of line, but you could hear every footstep they made. There is also an airport quite close and the planes start flying overhead early (6ish). Lastly, the parking was awful. They charged a reasonable nightly rate (I think it was $9), but 2 of the 3 times we got to the hotel, the parking lot was full (yet they still attempted to charge us) and we had to park down the street and a REALLY sketchy area. It was conveniently located (near Universal Studios), but I would not stay here again. The area is really run down (homeless people, gates and locks on everything, -- liquor stores seem to be the only successfully business in the immediate vicinity)

"Close to metrail."

Positive: hotel room was clean and friendly staff. Close to train depot. Negative: minimal parking. rooms on second floor get noisy especially at 6:30 once restaurant is open. Rooms with 2 beds still have hazed window that is dividing shower to sleeping area, every one in sleeping area can see you while showering and light turned on during the night for bathroom will wake everyone up.

Up and coming district. Miles away from many popular restaurants. Walking distance to many restaurants, public transit, drug stores (CVS, Walgreens) and food shopping. While staying BW premier we were wowed by the interior design and our room. Hotel is new so has some kinks that need to be fixed. Such as our room key cards we had to get reprogrammed about everyday. The laundry room was not in working condition. I would call hotel to ensure the website description is accurate. I read some reviews stating the website stated false info. I took this trip with my mom. We enjoyed our stay and the service of each employee there. It could get noisy depending what floor your on. We stayed on 3rd floor for 6nights. Initially for first 2nights our bedlight lights we janky. They ended up fixing themselves (I guess) and worked every night after. We walked the streets day and night to explore the area and ride the metro to universal. Very convenient and we both would stay again.

This is a classic case of don't judge the book by its cover. The surrounding area seemed a little fun down but once you stepped in the hotel it was a different world. Very nice amostphere rooms were really great everything in the room was very modern and spacious. Beds were comfortable lots of places to eat around the area and only 15 minutes from universal studios.

4 August in the 5 in the morning people check in and screaming and bumping bed in the room. When I called the reception I learned There were using room for 4 hour. We are family I do not want people having wild times next door. No one in the management say there are sorry. There were giving corner rooms to one night stand visitors. Very bed experience.

"False Advertising"

I would not have booked this 3night stay with them if they would have been honest. Bait & Switch!!!! When I booked this room they had on their website that they had an airport shuttle to/from Burbank airport. Called to verify that they had one and how to get picked up. When we arrived, I called the phone number they gave me and was told that they do not have a shuttle. No apologies or compensation given for our Lyft ride even though they admitted that it was on there when I booked. I had also called to make sure that their pool was open...Their pool was closed for most of our 3night stay and the Hot Tub was not HOT. We had to call down from our cellphone to ask for pool towels because they were all gone. The website still says they have a cocktail lounge & restaurant on site with “Poolside services, restaurant located poolside”. The restaurant was open for breakfast IF you put your name on the list. Food was good and at a fair price. The restaurant was not open past the breakfast service and they did NOT serve cocktails. They had the door locked by the pool so you had to go around thru the closed restaurant to get in. The patio area was very nice (photo attached). But when it got dark it was not well lit so we did not feel safe. In the room...They have a frosted glass panel in shower so you can see the shadow of the person in the shower from the bed!! It was awkward since we were traveling with teenage boys. When the light came on in the bathroom, it shined thru the frosted glass & lit up the bedroom waking up anyone trying to sleep. The housekeepers were friendly but did not do a good job. When we first got there, Hair on bathroom floor, old Keurig cup in machine, garbage didn't have bags in them, not enough towels for 4people.... we even left a note asking for 4 towels, 4 wash clothes, coffee, & cups and still had to go to front desk to get them because they left us 3 towels & 1 washcloth & a thank you note back to us. The front desk never even asked if we had a Best Western loyalty card to promote them. The front desk staff was friendly but unapologetic to all our concerns. I didn't feel like a valued guest and will not recommend nor return. By the way.... this is my first review ever. It was so frustrating that I felt like I had to warn others. Disappointed and gave a bad reputation to Best Western as well.

"Funky room that will not be comfortable to some"

Brand new hotel only open about a month when we stayed. Take look at my picture. The shower has a frosted glass panel into the bedroom, so you can basically see the outline of the person showering. Additionally, if you use the bathroom in the night, light floods through the panel into the bedroom, waking those trying to sleep. We asked for a different room, but were told rooms with tubs only were available. Traveling with high school boys made my wife ask them to leave the room while she showered. Then, the shower leaked all over the bathroom. Can't make this stuff up. Also, the toilet ran all day, all night. We asked to have maintenance look at it, but no one ever came. Finally, we asked to check our luggage there after check out while we attended universal studios. A gal at the desk said no problem - Just put your stuff on a luggage cart and we'll lock it up. A guy, possibly a supervisor, started giving her a bad time, that tying up a luggage cart all day might inconvenience other guests. 1) possibly, but doubtful as the place was not very full based on the limited number of cars in the garage and 2) wrong time and place to have that discussion- wait until the customer has left. Immature and unprofessional behavior by management. Bottom line we wouldn't stay here again. There is a holiday inn express just up the street.

Best Western is trying to stratify its properties into different levels of luxury. I regularly stay at a Best West Plus, which is a step up from a regular Best Western, and it is a decent place. The Best Western Premier appears to be the next step up for the motel chain. We had the pleasure of being one of the first guests at the Best Western Premier NOHO in North Hollywood yesterday. The newly-constructed four-story building opened over the weekend in a somewhat dreary, apparently gentrifying part of North Hollywood on Burbank Blvd. The neighborhood seemed a bit seedy, but we walked six blocks to a great bar and restaurant, then walked back after midnight, without any concern. The building was modern, nicely-decorated comfortable and welcoming. The first floor of the building is parking. It was plenty when we were there, but it didn't seem like enough for the size of the motel. Check-in was at a table in the lobby by a competent gentleman with a new Dell laptop. No front desk. Just a table. It works! We didn't make it to the breakfast restaurant on the second floor or the pool on the roof, but the pictures looked nice. The room was well-appointed. The television was a 40" LG that had what I have always wanted in a hotel room TV...the ability to connect my phone or laptop by Bluetooth or cable. The bed and bedclothes were great. Of course, they were brand new. My room had a corner balcony, which was pleasant, though the view was of the hazy San Gabriel mountains and an ocean of style-less buildings that make up much of North Hollywood and the San Fernando valley. The room needed a few very minor things. They warned us the refrigerators were coming soon. The bathtub was missing a stopper. The exhaust fan in the bathroom had no way to turn it on and off. All of this, I have no doubt all of this will be worked out in short order. There was a little bit of noise from the Burbank Airport. I twas noticeable, but by no means bothersome. Really the only complaint we had was that they had locked all of the doors into the hotel after our midnight walk back. The security guard inside kept directing us from inside from one glass door to the next until we reached an unmarked solid interior door deep in the parking area that turned out to be a back door into the lobby. I felt much safer on Burbank Blvd. than I did in the deserted recesses of the parking garage. Even if the street entrance needed to be locked at night, it would seem to me that the main door at the front of the parking area could be left unlocked or should at least be accessible via a room key.
