« Good Hotel, Good Service & Very Helpful Staff »

During the Big 5 Construct East Africa exhibition, I stayed in this Hotel. The Service and the accommodation were just great. Really nothing to complain about. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast was great. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.

    « Positive! »

We stayed here as a layover after safari before our return flight the next day. It was included in the tour, and we were positively surprised. Good clean rooms, everything looked well taken care of and good breakfast. Good value for money

    « Comfortable and Decent Mid-sized Hotel »

I stayed at this hotel for four nights (Oct. 12/13 and Oct. 21/22). The rooms are quite decent, and very clean. Staff was very welcoming (with a glass of juice at check-in) and service was excellent. Food was okay. The Gym and swimming pool are currently closed for renovation. The hotel is located within Nairobi's downtown; within walking distance of numerous interesting places, including fast food chains like Steers located across from Jeevanjee's Gardens. The University of Nairobi's main campus is also located nearby. The surrounding area, starting from the hotel's entrance on Muranga Road didn't seem safe to walk at night though. Two major negatives during my stay at this hotel: a) A taxi driver arranged for me by the hotel over-charged me for a trip to Yaya Centre neighbourhood. The taxi driver charged Kshs2,000 for a distance that would cost me only Kshs300 by Uber on my way back to the hotel (that's almost a 7 times price increase, and extremely unacceptable). I explained this to Emmanuel at the reception and he mentioned that he would look into it since he was the one who made the initial arrangement. My advise to fellow traveler's is to NOT ask this hotel for help regarding local taxi transport options based on my experience. b) My niece was humiliated by the hotel manager at the hotel's reception. She came to visit me at the hotel on Oct. 22nd (around 5:50 PM) and was first asked to leave her ID at the reception (my other guests were not asked to do this). Then the duty manager (John) called my room to inform me that I would be charged an extra Kshs5,000 if my guest stayed past 6:00 PM). This was very frustrating for me, and humiliating to my niece. I decided to go down to the reception to discuss this with John (Duty Manager ...and he insisted that this was hotel policy). Though he said that our discussion had resolved the issue, I am still not convinced that the hotel acted in good faith, or was even following any policy guidelines. I politely asked him to send me a copy of the policy that he referred to so that I could seek an official clarification from Best Western. I haven't received a copy of this policy, or even an apology for which I am still awaiting. Do I see myself going back to this hotel? Not before the above issues are substantially addressed, including an apology to my niece and I for the humiliation.

« Good place to stay in Nairobi if you want to get around central »

This is a good place to stay, though nothing special. It has quite an odd, sort of gaudy decoration to the place. The food is fine and the service is decent. The rooms are a good size. I might add that the showers are fantastic! A good, well priced option if you're looking for a base in Nairobi from which to get around.

    « Never going back »

Really really old building, the rooms are big but things are poorly arranged and bedding and furniture really old. The restaurant area is not so great either. Breakfast was really poor. I felt like I was in a prison and will never stay here again.

« My trip to Kenya »

This hotel has just recently come into the Best Western group. A very nice looking hotel both externally and internally. The staff couldn't have been nicer - they were very professional and friendly right down to the security man lifting the outside gate. The restaurant was good and had a good choice of food. Our room was lovely. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

« One of the best Hotel to stay in Nairobi specially for families »

What I liked about the Hotel is the Management and Staff.I remember meeting Mr. Akbar every morning, very dynamic person, personally managing the Hotel and guests. Not only that, but staff and security was also very courteous, helping me finding the right cab, and no extra charges. All the rooms are Non-smoking , but you can smoke at 1st Floor. I stated at 4th Floor. Restaurants are clean, you can enjoy every type of Food, specially you get Indian breakfast. In night time, you can enjoy at DRINKS Bar. Management is very much open to hear the clients. Couple of words about Nairobi : 1. The moment you land at Nairobi : Two things you must do : convert dollar to Kenyan Shilling and secondly take a local sim ( either Safaricom or Airtel ). 2. Always use UBER Taxi. Download Uber and activate. I will give you one example. I was told normal Taxi will charge around 1500 ~ 2500 Kenyan Shilling from Kenyatta centre to Airtel Mombassa, but when i hired Uber, I just paid 400 Kenyan Shilling. 3. You need to negotiate with Normal Taxi drivers. 4. If you want to take some something back home. you can but kenya tea / coffee from the Local Stores. I think one packet will cost you only 3 $ at airport and in local market, it's more cheap. 5. Avoid going out in evening time by foot.Always prefer to travel in Taxi. For me , it was ok as I been traveling to kenya for the last 15 years. 6. Do not throw garbage on roads ( kenya is very clean city ). 7. Persons do have civil sense. No honking while driving. Give way to pedestrians. 8. Be Polite with Local guys, they will surely help you. 9. Avoid beggars and road side Bike riders. 10. In case you feel unsafe, you can immediately approach a Cab or any security guard near by. 11. In last, do not miss Jungle Safari.

    « Excellent and safe »

Stayed for two nights. The hotel is centrally located. Found the hotel really good, decent and safe. Room was good, confortable, neat and clean .Bathroom was clean. A/C was working perfect. Food was good. Staffs was really polite and helpful. It's a Perfect choice of hotel to stay for any business travellers and ofcourse others too. I really had a smooth and good time. Overall it really deserves an 'EXCELLENT '.

« Most Terrible Hotel in Nairobi »

Look somewhere else if you need a quiet place to stay.. Its in a noisy neigbourhood I have been to Nairobi on about 5 different occasions.. And this is the most terrible and most forgettable trip i have ever taken... Food was cold and they didn't serve anything continental for foreigners.. I paid for all 3 buffets but apart from breakfast i couldn't eat anything else. Every other Meat or chicken was salty. Their Customer Service was Terrible and waitresses were extremely rude when you complain.. No Pool even though i booked because they claimed they had one.. Apparently its been under renovation for God knows how long rooms are compact and small... if you dont like small spaces, this is not a hotel for you. They wouldn't let you receive a visitor in room and they demand an extra $50 if you're to take a visitor inside. They also demand an government ID from your visitor as well.. They tell you terrorism, as if someone will allow a stranger into their room... Though i know its their way of extorting money from you

« Good Value Hotel Within Walking Distance of City Center »

The hotel is located just outside the central zone of Nairobi--about a 15 minute walk with a good map. It is also about a 15 minute walk from the National Museum and Snake Farm. However, we were warned not to walk at night in the neighborhood, a common warning thought out Nairobi. The concierge provides good service in obtaining taxis and arranging tours. Rooms were comfortable and adequate in size for a few nights stay. The dining room provided very good breakfasts, including made to order eggs and omelets. The dinners also looked very good and well priced, though we never ate there because we went to an authentic Nairobi restaurant located about 5 blocks away. If we had had another night in this hotel we would have eaten dinner in the restaurant since it smelled and looked so good.

« Good service, bad facilities. »

I stayed here for two nights in September. The rooms are nice, I booked the first night ahead of time and the second night was a walk in because I had been in Maasailand with no signal. The service and food is really good, but I had booked based on the pool, restaurant and health centre, all of which were being renovated during my stay (this was not advised anywhere at all upon booking). The hotel still charged full price despite a big chunk of facilities being unavailable which was pretty annoying. Everything else was fine, the actual rooms are quite nice, the staff are really lovely and attentive.

I would like to hold a fashion show at Meridian Hotel. I am an international designer looking for a venue that will attract the Kenyan fashion industry. Was there a fallout between Meridian hotel and some key people in the Kenyan Fashion industry and was the recorded incident true? We would like to attract a big audience.

« Average hotel, good price »

The Hotel is very central and close to the CBD which is what I needed. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The price is relatively cheap compared to other hotels in the area. Overall the experience was positive, the rooms are nice, fairly modern and clean, if not hugely spacious. The food (room service) was generally good, reasonably priced with good portions. The breakfast buffet isn't great, with slow service, not amazing quality and limited options. I asked for some boiled eggs that never turned up, my table wasn't laid properly and there was no one on hand to clean up. Check out took a long time (20 mins) while they had to sort out issues with their systems which was frustrating as I had paid yet the receptionist wouldn't let me leave.

« Rooms Suitable but Very Noisy »

We had one night here in between our Safari and found it average. The room was clean and equipped with everything, but very small! It was also incredibly noisy. The hotel has a lot of echo ! They only have one restaurant choice, but they do have a cute bar with a pool table. There is security upon entering. Staff nice. Wifi intermittent.

    « ICT EXPO 2016 »

I had gone for ICT EXPO and stayed in this hotel for 6 nights. Hotel is OK OK. Interior is fine. amenities are fine. but room size is small and we had paid a little more for it. So if we had paid a little less than it would have been the perfect deal. Location is good. food in nice. staff is good specially their finance manager shailesh. Rooms are clean but their is problem with hot water. sometimes you get hot water sometime you not. overall an average hotel with good amenties.

« Good for the price »

We hosted a one-day conference at this venue and our guests were accommodated at the hotel. The service was excellent all around. The dinner was delicious, the breakfasts were adequate but not exceptional; and the rooms were comfortable. The conference venue was well-equipped. The only negatives were that the wifi dropped from time to time and the check-in and check-out process took very long.

    « Services »

The service was excellent, from reception, room to dining. The staff are friendly. The bed was comfortable but the TV had limited channels. Wi-Fi speed was commendable. Excellent experience all round.

    « Bussiness Trip »

The food was good, staff were excellent polite kind and responsive. location was good and the room service with quality beds and floors.Just an advice to increase the number of channels on TV. ALL around excellent Hotel.

    « Excellent »

Excellent hotel. Kind and courteous staff. Great buffet. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Buffet starts a bit later than scheduled. Had a great sleep. Quiet and efficient. TV, Refrigerator...Excellent room service.

    « Conferencing »

the services were great, and the staff are friendly. there should be an upgrade in the food varieties. the conferencing halls need to have power sources near the tables where guests don't have to strain when working on there machines. sound system was down a little

« Convenient location, nice rooms with great value »

We have stayed there numerous times and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean and modern. The food is excellent and the free breakfast that comes with your stay is very generous and delicious.

    « Average Hotel »

This hotel was average, perfect for a business trip, Nice Location, Service was good, Food was tasty, Check in and checkout was easy, I needed taxi few times and they helped me immediately, Bathroom was clean,

« Surprised by the reviews, below everage hotel »

We booked the hotel by reviews and it turned out something else. Not even a 3 star property. Rooms are very small. Over looking some other buildings and lanes. Food was just ok. Wifi didn't work. With help of staff somehow managed to work. Breakfast was horrible. House keeping was good. Cleanliness was there. One lady personally came to check whether all ok or not, but basically below everage hotel.

    « Epitome of class »

Nothing much to say, just a good 4 -star service. They are very efficient and there's always a smile on their face. The food is superb and the bedroom is comfortable. It would help if they could retune the heater and increase the temperature limit tho.

    « Superb »

Excellent and one of the best hotels in Nairobi, Kenya. The rooms are very clean, well kept, spacious and well lit. The hotel has secure underground parking. Friendly staffs who are ready to help at any time.

« Perfect hotel for business trips to Nairobi »

Good clean room and bathroom. Powerful A/C. Perfect central location for business in Nairobi. Secure underground parking. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good in hotel dining. My hotel of choice for short business trips to Nairobi. Introduction of a fine dining restaurant, refurbished gym and refurbished pool - work in progress

« Smart executive business hotel in Nairobi city centre »

Excellent and comfortable facilities for my husband and i in a great clean Executive room. The room was spacious. We stayed for 4 nights and were our used professional and friendly service from early morning breakfasts to taxi services arriving on time at the hotel. A iron and board was provided within minutes of our request in the room. Breakfast was a good spread with excellent fruits and local cuisine. Definitely recommended for business guests and couples should opt for an Executive room :) Internet was intermittent at peak hours but fast connectivity overall.
