"My daughter, her toddlers & I had a great stay."

The front desk was lit up and receptive to my arrival. The room, and grounds, were big and clean. Breakfast was outstanding - a good big variety of food! Coffee was available at the front desk and in the room 24/7. The internet worked well in the room; a printer is provided in the lobby. Front desk staff were interested in our comfort. Newspapers were provided daily. I felt safe. There is ample free parking. I plan to stay again! I truly rate my stay very good. It is close to a variety of good restaurants.

"Went for an overnight stay."

I just wanted to go for an overnight and chose the Best Western College Way Inn in Mount Vernon Washington. I checked in and filled my large coffee cup in the lobby. I had an very comfortable clean room. Spent a very nice evening just relaxing and watching football. The TV has many channels so you can choose what you want. I slept very well in a clean and comfortable bed. The breakfast was first rate, I enjoyed scrambled eggs, home fried potatoes with bacon and sausage along with coffee and orange juice. They have many very good choices for breakfast. The Staff were all pleasant and professional. I felt very welcome there. If you need a place to stay in Mount Vernon, WA this would be a top choice.

"This BW is dated, but clean"

This BW is in a good location for those traveling to-from Canada along I-5. It is pet-friendly, but has limited pet rooms and the cost is steep ($30). It's an older property that has been updated, but needs more updating. Given that, the room rate is reasonable, the rooms are clean, everything worked, and the breakfast was great. If you stay, make the short drive into Mt. Vernon, stroll along the Skagit River walk, and have a great meal and beer at the Porterhouse. Mt. Vernon is a cool little town to investigate.

"Quiet night."

We did not have a reservation as we didn't know how far south we'd get due to the ferry ride and the border crossing. But Mt. Vernon was perfect. Ammy checked us in, told us about the homeless issue at the back of the hotel and so put us in room 103, which was up close to the office. It was just fine. Parking right outside the door is always a plus. Altho I prefer staying on the top floor, we didn't hear a peep from the above room, if there was anyone there! Bath area is small but this is an older hotel. Return? Yes. Breakfast was good, morning staff nice. And Ammy most helpful. Then head around the corner to the Fortune Mandarin Restaurant for a yummy dinner.

"needs updaring"

Hotel is older, the rooms are small, and not maintained very well. There is a small homeless community in the woods behind the hotel. they come and do frequently. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.

I don't know what happened, but this room #206 was a NIGHTMARE. Backed up plumbing, filthy carpet and upholstered chair. The room smelled musty and used! The shower pan was pitched in such a fashion you couldn't stand under the head. Swimming pool's water was turning green w/ roped CAUTION tape around it. Just a very unpleasant experience. Lesson learned: Never stay at a BW. Always stay at a BW Plus.

We hope that you will not allow this experience detour you from staying at other basic Best Westerns. Sincerely, Management & Staff BW College Way Inn

"Beds nice but motel needs updating"

Rooms are needing remodel. Pool was closed yet ugly green water was still on it. Hot tub closed. Bed comfortable. Skipped breakfast. Nicer hotel up the road but not pet friendly. So we had to stay here.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review

"Old facility and non working hot tub "

I will start with the positive. They are trying to improve the place as much as is possible given the locations obvious age. The interiors of the rooms are nice and you can tell they have remodeled. The issues. It's an old school motel type facility. All rooms are accessed from outside. Some rooms you have to go clear around the parking lot to the complete other side of the property. It's kind of weird in that respect. Not what I am used to when I stay at a Best Western. The hot tub. I picked this location because it said it has a hot tub. There are even pictures of it listed. I was looking forward to it. But, the hot tub doesn't work, and, they have known about it for a while. The jets are dead. Barely pumping. I read reviews, after experiencing this myself, from months ago. The management says this is normal. This is NOT normal for a hot tub. Fix it. Or, get rid of it. Don't advertise a hot tub that doesn't work.

"Great stay comfy clean helpful"

Arrived check in easy and friendly, given the hose to wash our bikes. Very nice. Room was spacious, up to date, huge shower. Great tv micro fridge in room. Hot breakfast was very good. Dairy queen 30 second walk from hotel, nice option. Easy off highway. All in all a great stay.

"lots of space"

this hotel has individual room access which i really like when staying in smaller towns. there are restaurants that share the parking lot and many more as well as shops very close by. it is located in a quiet area which makes for undisturbed sleep and a good working environment. it has a small but nice breakfast area and they offer the standard breakfast fare served fresh and hot. some staff members could be a little more pleasant but no one was rude or disrespectful. it was perfect for what i needed and close to where i was working so i really have no complaints.

"Would stay again"

Very friendly. The guy at the front dest was funny and very helpful... Rooms were clean and the beds were very comfy. The breakfast was so good, eggs, hashbrowns, waffels, juice and everything to go with it.

"Nice enough but overpriced"

People: arrived at 2:30, informed by desk man that check in is 4:00. Had to tell him that we had a wedding at 4:30 and needed to change clothes before he called to see if our room was ready. In the end allowed us to check in early. I give this. C+. Room: spacious bed area, spotless cleaning. King bed is comfortable. Tiny (and I mean the smallest I've ever experienced!) sink and bathroom area. I'm a girl...girl's gotta have room to do her hair and get ready. Dressing impossible in the bathroom. Can hear neighbors talking...needs better Windows and insulation. Bedroom is a B and bathroom a C-?only because it's clean. Location: easy access to highway, yet traffic noise minimal...about 2 miles from old town Mt. Vernon. Overall, the price isn't justified. Spent $124 for the night thru should be less for the value. Trip advisor offers it a little less a day later (should have used T.A.! :-)! Still overpriced.

"Close to coast and Whale Watching"

Comfortable with good rates and location. We wanted to be close to Whale watching charters. They had a pool conveniently located and were close to several choices or restaurants. They are on a b it of a side room which kept traffic noise down and were very close to the main highway.

"Very Good Hotel Overall"

I am fan of Best Western Brand names.Definitely recommend it. Most of the amenities are goodStaff behaviors are good and friendlyBreakfast was goodInternet speed can increasedOverall its a good stay.

"Nice hotel"

The hotel was very nice and somewhat close to the Cascade Mountains. It was also close to some state parks with a lot of walking trails. The hotel was also close to stores and restaurants, which was convenient. The pool was nice too.

"Good value in a convenient location"

We came looking for a centrally located, reasonably priced motel from which we could visit the San Juan Islands and North Cascade NP as day trips - and this fit the bill. Several good restaurants nearby, especially Fortune Mandarin a short walk away. Wasn't expecting the Waldorf-Astoria for what we paid for it, but it was clean. They were having some staffing problems but they still took care of us very well. A good value.

"Not a very nice place, staff great, room smelly and dirty"

It is a very old hotel. Funiture is well worn and needs to be replaced. They are remodeling rooms, but using either a very poor contractor or DIY. Everything was very dirty in the room and the air conditioner was very noisy and could not be adjusted. It did work well as to cooled the room to 15C (59F). It was a quite room. The door would not close and lock without much force and the biggest put off was the room was very smelly. It was a pet friendly room.

"Old but clean"

Older hotel that is clean, with a nice pool and garden area. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lower rating due to shower and toilet installation that proved to be inadequate. Looks better than function.

"Clean, quaint little hotel."

Stayed here for an overnight stay. Couldn't get the A/C to work right, a phone call to the front desk went unanswered. How much is 19 degrees Celsius, heck if I know. Room was very clean and had no odors. Never did get the deadbolt to work, just used the chain, due to the fact of some dude parked in the back lot that wasn't actually staying in the hotel. Overall, for the price I paid and that it was for only one night... I figured a three star is adequate.

"Great room for a great price!"

We stayed only one night while passing through & visiting Deception Pass. The lady who checked us in went above & beyond to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay, including directions to the state park. We will be returning. Clean, affordable & nice interior. Breakfast kept us full until late afternoon.

"Restful Night"

On our annual cross country motorcycle trip we stayed here one night. The front desk staff member was friendly and helpful. The room was nicely furnished to include a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good. If I could make one wish, it would be a laundry on the property. But it was a great stay! We would stay here again. Travel safe...

"Disappointing Stay at Best Western College Way, Mount Vernon"

What a disappointing stay at the Mount Vernon, Washington College Way Best Western! I had reserved a room for my husband and myself for the evening before my appointment with the eye surgeons, as we live a two-hour drive away. Upon check-in to Room 107, I took my shoes and socks off, getting ready to use the outdoor hot tub, and found that the carpet was soaking wet. Apparently it had just been shampooed, and clearly not enough drying time had been allowed. Back to the front desk we went, and were re-assigned to Room 126, on the back side of the building and with lots of cigarette butts in the parking spaces. The carpet in this room was also very wet, but not quite as wet as in Room 107. Back again to the front desk, and this time we were given Room 113. The flooring in there was the driest of the three rooms, and yet it was slightly damp. We had already wasted an hour of time that should have been relaxing. Thinking the hot tub would still be a good idea, we went to it – located under a cute gazebo-type structure. The water was nice and hot, but there were no jets! The staff person said the jets were “gentle.” The best comparison I can think of is the underwater intake vents in a swimming pool. You can feel water moving, but you would never describe it as a jet. The pool, by the way, even though this was a hot and sunny day, was not heated or cleaned. I guess they are waiting for Memorial Day. On a positive note, the breakfast area is attractive and the breakfast itself is nice, with good choices. I probably will not book here again, though, unless there is no other choice in the area. This experience was certainly not what we have come to expect from our many stays at several different Best Western properties.

"Quick trip to get a way. "

I love when you come to a hotel and are treated like royalty. The staff here value each guest and do everything they can to make you feel welcome. The rooms are very clean. This is an older hotel that is being looked after. They were freshly painting when we arrived. The pool area is so well kept with a nice little garden area. I really loved the patio off room 104 and the patio little along the pool area. The bed so comfy. I enjoyed having breakfast as well.

"Our Stay Was Just Fine"

We stayed one night here and it was just fine. The hotel is older and the room had older carpet, etc., but was clean. Breakfast was a typical BW breakfast. If you go hunger, it is your own fault because there is lots of variety, etc.

"Business trip, one night"

I stay here when I am in the area. This is not the fanciest place, but has all the amenities I require, desk and chair in the room, good internet and a nice breakfast. There is also an outdoor pool and hot tub, towels at the front desk.

"Great, basic hotel conveniently located"

This hotel was a nice basic hotel, at a reasonable price. Employees were helpful and friendly, basic breakfast offered. Rooms were clean and everything worked. Bed was comfortable. Easy access to I-5 and LaConner and tulip farms. Would be a great place to spend a few days to visit local area, or an overnight on your way north or south.

"Tulip Fesstival"

Great place to stay and close to all the festivities near by. So many things to see and do in the area. The staff was great and always helpful. Beds were very comfortable and we would stay here again when we are in the area.

"Older hotel, but pretty clean. Good beds."

We usually stay at the Best Western Skagit Conference hotel when we come to Mt. Vernon but it was full. It is tulip season! Reservations fill up fast (and the cost is twice per night than it usually is). The BW College Way is a typical, two story, enter each room from a walkway that goes by all of the rooms on that level kind of hotel/motel. The person who checked us in was pleasant, but not particularly friendly. One morning, as people entered for breakfast, the person working the counter (that you had to walk right past as soon as you entered the room) didn't even look up as she was standing behind the counter. A hello or a smile would have been nice. An interesting observation I made over the two nights we were there was that almost all of the guests were senior citizens. Don't know if that was due to it being Tulip Festival time or not. I encountered one outgoing, friendly employee: Shannon. Thank you! I think some of the “tired” parts of the hotel could be more easily overlooked if the staff expressed a little emotion, friendliness, and a more welcoming affect.

"Better than average budget motel"

We were given a very nice room with all standard amenities - refrigerator, microwave, hair drier, etc. The room was clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. All in all we enjoyed our stay and had a good night's sleep.

"Good location for the price!"

We stayed at this hotel because it is closed to Tulip Town & Roozengarden. Its a big old and outdated. The room is okay, comfortable. The bathroom is clean and shower is good. The service was very good. Everybody was pleasant. Plenty of parking in front of the rooms. The breakfast was quite good with hot and cold breakfast. Plenty to eat. This hotel is good for the price. But if you are looking for a newer and better looking place, you might have to pay more!

"Good place to stay"

This BW had good access to the I5. Some fast food close by as well as other restaurants. Check in was quick & easy. Parking was good. A great breakfast in the lobby. A pool & hot tub is on courtyard, Too cold & rainy for the pool at this time of year. I'll stay here again next time through.

"No hot water!"

This is an older motel, alittle outdated. Coffee pot plugged into a power strip with everything else and it couldn't handle the load. Can you say “fire hazard”! Then couldn't take a shower, because no hot water!

"Washington Road Trip"

This Hotel does not even come close to meeting Best Western performance standards. The bed is well past its best before date, the so called breakfast was not a pleasant experience - non existent eggs sausages bacon yogurt - dry continental items

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Henry W, We are sorry to hear that your recent stay with us was not up to your expectations in regards to the bed (of which we are looking at closely to determine it's condition) and with your experience at breakfast, especially with the variety of hot items. The scrambled eggs that were out at breakfast were pulled by the staff after several complaints about the texture and taste. The company that had been supplying us with the eggs made a substitution. This was the first morning that we put them out. Unfortunately the quality left a lot to be desired and there were no other immediate options available at the last minute, hard boiled or otherwise. At this time, we have replaced these with hard boiled eggs. We hope you will give us another chance the next time you are in the area. Sincerely, Management & Staff Best Western College Way Inn

"Expensive Motel, Thin Walls, Smells but Convenient"

If convenience is key, this might be the place for you. The Woods Coffee across the street is great. And, there is a Mexican meat market in the parking lot that makes the best street tacos I've ever had and they are $1.50 to $2 each. There is a DQ across the street. Up the street are additional chain restaurants, banks and a Walmart. The hot water was good. There is a fridge and a microwave. The staff (one person) seemed friendly. Spending $124 per night (includes dog fee, I hope) at this place makes me a little ill. I can spend half as much and get a nice AirBNB. I was in town for a dog competition and the hotel is dog friendly and close to the facility. So, it's a motel, not a hotel first of all. When I went into the lobby, it looked like it was in the middle of a face-lift that hasn't had the finishing work completed. I couldn't decide if my room was remodeled or not. I came to the conclusion that they just did not pay for finish work. Nail holes in trim was not plugged, paint was never touched up (and it looks like a five year old did it), the black grout in the bathroom smeared all over the walls. I opened the door to the room and all I could smell was stale smoke. They claim this is a smoke-free facility. It is not. There was cigarette ash between the bed and the nightstand. I had to drive to Walmart and get something to help with the smell and I opened the window whenever I could to try to air it out. It was really gross. I am not sure if they just put people with dogs in the gross smoke-smelling rooms at the end of the building by a grassy area or what. The walls are paper thin. I could hear regular conversations between people, I could hear them moving hangers on the rod, I could hear men peeing, every door that opened/closed, the oil trains that ran through town laying on their horns all night every night... Luckily all of my neighbors were fairly quiet after 10pm, but a large family or something would have been a nightmare. I had my dog there and he only ever barks at knocks on the door, and we travel all over for events and stay in hotels, but this was the only hotel where he barked or was woken up by the neighbors. The beds are really soft and hurt my back if I tried to lay on my side. It felt like a water bed that needed to be filled. Can't say anything about breakfast as I did not partake. Don't know about the rest of the facilities either. I won't stay here again -- I'll put in some additional legwork and get a nice AirBNB. At most this should be an $80/night motel. I've stayed in better Motel 6s.

Dear Ms. Marquis, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us. While we are happy to hear that you enjoyed our convenient location, nearby businesses and room amenities during your stay, we are sorry to learn that the rest of your stay was not as we hoped it would be. Our goal is to provide all our guests with a clean/fresh room and great customer service. We are sorry that the clean/fresh part did not happen for you and that the softness of the bed (and enthusiastic train engineers) interfered with a good night's sleep. We do have a few pet friendly rooms on the back side of the hotel that are more protected from noise. If you find that you need to stay with us again, let us know that you would prefer this area and we will do what we can to accommodate the request. "The heat will eventually come on"

First, this is motel not a hotel. Nothing wrong with this but travelers should be aware that the design of this place is that of a classic motor inn with all doors opening directly to the outdoors. Arrived after dark on a winter evening (it gets dark very early in this part of the world in winter) and went to my room. It was freeeeeeezing. Clearly there had been no heat in the room for a long time. Searched high and low for a thermostat, switch or some clue as to how to turn the heat on. Nothing. So, I called the front desk and she informed that there was was remote control in the bed stand. Found it. Followed her instructions carefully. NOTHING. Played around with all the settings on the remote. NOTHING. Went down the front desk for help. She made a number of phone calls to try and get some help, no answer. She offered to move me to another room "in the newer part" of the place. OK. Went back to my room, et voila, the heat was on. So I didn't change rooms but it did take quite awhile for the room to get to a bearable temperature. So, apparently eventually the heat will come on. I suppose the opposite would be true in the summer - eventually the air conditioning will come on.

"Very convenient location"

We met our kids in Mount Vernon for a Soo Bahk Do tournament for our grandson. We selected Best Western because of good experience in the past, first time here. We weren't disappointed. The only negative was the motel is located close to the BNSF mainline so there were train whistles throughout the night. The motel is conveniently located to I5 but without any noise from the busy freeway. The best part was the stand-up shower without the useless tub combination you usually find. Definitely would go back.

"OK stay"

OK stay Decent location but there were deficiencies here Before we got here I checked to C about the hot tub & pool Pool seasonal but was told hot tub was up & running It was NOT Dayshit staff forgot to fill the hot tub My son was very disappointed in this Beds are very soft Breakfast items were not cooked properly Bacon was over cooked Eggs were cold and potatoes were undercooked Did not care for the half pillows in the room TV remote barely worked At least the reception staff tried to make the best of the situation

"Terrible Experience"

Found drug needle and pills left in the room which was not really cleaned. Told their front desk about it and they said they would give me a night free which was a lie. Charged for both nights. Would never stay here again.

"Great Hotel"

If you are looking for the Taj Mahal better look elsewhere. If you are looking for a clean comfortable room at a decent price look no further. Service is excellent, beds are comfortable, breakfast was spot on. Hotel is right off of I 5, and everything you need is within walking distance. Best Western College Way Inn will be are go to hotel when we need to spend the night while in the area.

"Very good"

Excellent service and room was very comfortable and clean, I travel with my dog and they are very accommodating. Internet is important to me and I never have a problem it works perfectly. The bed is so comfortable!

"Bad Experience"

Poor customer service, room was dirty and had garbage shoved under the bed and there was a bad odor. The heater stopped working and woke up freezing. When we went to eat breakfast there was barely anything left to eat.

Dear heatherwO7456PS, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us. (Maintenance was notified about the no heat situation and has found/resolved the problem.) We will be sharing your comments with all of our staff as a reminder of the importance of paying attention to all the details of the job. In regards to the breakfast, we do our best to stay on top of keeping items stocked. Sometimes large groups or a few extra hungry individuals will come in and wipe out what has been put out. While we try to re-stock as quickly as we can, some items do require more cooking/prep time than others and take longer to put out. We hope that you will give us a second chance the next time you are in the area. Sincerely, Management & Staff BW College Way Inn

"Best breakfast in a value priced hotel!"

What's not to like about eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy? A comfy bed, oversized soft towels and a friendly staff. Great location near dining, shopping and I5. Reliable wifi, nice lounge area with large screen TV and sofa. Quiet as well..

"Great spot to stay"

Nice little hotel just off the freeway. Very convenient. Rooms overlook nice little courtyard with the pool. Very happy with the room and value compared to other similar places in the area. will stay here again.

"Great value"

We were very pleasantly surprised at the value here. The room was more than adequate, with coffee maker, microwave, and fridge. Lovely, updated lobby with fireplace, breakfast area. Nice breakfast. witheggs, saugage, pottoes, waffles, etc. Allat a very affordable price.

"Older facility, Very, very quiet."

Older facility but very pleasant. Very quiet and spacious room. Would stay again when in the Mount Vernon area. Staff friendly. Lots of items to choose from for breakfast. Vehicle entrance to lobby is cramped.

The exterior of the hotel appearance isn't indicative of the quality and appearance of the inside of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Good breakfast. We enjoyed the quiet room.

"Last minute stop"

We decided to stay at the last minute and chose this hotel on price alone. Room 207 smelled strongly of stale cigarettes and this morning, we both habe sore throats. Now we wish we had paid 20 dollars more for a different hotel.

"A go to place for us"

Always enjoy our stays at this hotel. It's easy to get to, plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. Pleasant pool and hot tub. Very nice breakfast for size of hotel. Clean. Courteous employees. Have stayed here many times over the years.

"a pleasant stay"

Since our stay last year the hotel was completely renovated and updated. The staff is courteous, rooms spotless and the breakfast more than up to Best Western standards. The hotel is close to all amenities and shopping malls. Excellent value also! We will definitely return.

"Below average stay."

Stayed two nights for a wedding. The rooms are small bathroom is very small. Walls are thin. Carpets next to the bed was dirty. Pool was dirty and gate didn't work. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Breakfast was good for hotel food and coffee was always fresh. No elevator so be sure to ask for bottom level if you have mobility issues.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Debbie W, Thank you for the review of your recent stay with us. "One night stay over on a trip to San Juans"

If anything could go wrong it did. Check-in took for ever with office staff and printer issues. Our reservation got switched from a single King room to a double Queen room in which neither bed was sleep-able. We had a terrible night of sleep, waking up trying to get comfortable all night. The room was cramped and dark with uninspiring decor.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Jaron2017, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us. We're sorry to hear that it was not as pleasant as it could be, from the wait at check-in to the room type switch and unsleepable night. In regards to the switching of the room type from a king room to 2 queen beds, since we were booked with limited availability when you made your reservation, we were unable to accommodate your pet in the room with the king bed, hence the switch to the pet friendly room with 2 queen beds. We will be checking the beds in this room when the current guests depart. As for the decor, we are getting ready to start more in-room & property wide renovations to give our property a more updated look/feel and looking forward to the end results. We hope you will give us another chance the next time you are in Mount Vernon. Sincerely, Management & Staff BW College Way Inn

"Hidden gem"

This is an older building but has been modernized and updated. Very clean, comfortable and modern. This is close to the freeway but you can't hear the road. Great value. Will be staying there again. Highly recommend this facility.

"Great Best Western"

Great hot breakfast and beds are like sleeping on a cloud. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Location is close to everything, with a Dairy Queen right across the street. Will definitely stay there again and recommend this Best Western to others.

"one night stay before ferry departure"

Room was clean, bed was comfortable and was only about 30 minutes from the Anacortes Ferry. We arrived late and left early, so we didn't have a chance to try to pool or anything. Not a fancy place, but easy access from I5, and the staff was really friendly.

"BW Mount vernon"

nice staff, very helpful & know the area well for tourists ..great location..rooms nice, TV good, A/c works, Breakfast good..parking is good..restaurants nearby within walking distance, Hot tub & swimming pool are fun..

"Best Western Mount Vernon"

Nice clean hotel. Staff friendly and good free breakfast. Was noisy (thin walls) and hair dryer didn't work. Nice location close to town and a park. Room was large and well set up...desk to do work etc. Internet worked well while there.

"Great place hidden away just off the highway!"

The hotel is just off the highway, its close to shopping and positioned in such a way to give peace and quiet. The pool is clean and warm. Breakfast was great! And the staff were so friendly! Great value !

"best western collage way"

pillows were ehhh at best the rest was good. bed was soft and comfy interior decor was great and modern. small pool but enough to get wet and cool off. shower did not drain great but not sure i have seen a hotel that has.

"Great place!"

Wonderful staff! Very friendly and helpful. Very tasty, full breakfast. Super comfortable beds! Dressing area was a bit on the small side but overall room sixe was satisfactory. We will definitely stay here again!

"East to locate, right off Interstate 5"

Breakfast is quite nice - a wide array of both hot and cold options. Room was very clean, had a nice patio overlooking the pool. This hotel is walking distance to a Mandarin restaurant that shares the same parking lot.

"Good little place with outdoor pool"

We stay here on our way to and from bigger trips further south. We like that it's close to mt Vernon outlets and decent restaurants. Has a nice (cold) outdoor pool and a hot tub but that is rarely open in the summer. Breakfast is hot and lots of options.

"Clean and quality for the price"

Easy on and off from I-5. Older motel, but very clean and comfortable. Staff was accommodating and breakfast was good. Nice lobby, lots of parking. Would have liked to had more control over the temperature of the room, but it was comfortable.

"Severasl days exploring Skagit Country."

We selected this motel for its location in Skagit County, and because it has patio and balcony rooms. We really prefer rooms that allow us to sit outside and relax. There is plenty to see and do around Mount Vernon and it is also close enough to Seattle to do a day trip (which we did). The bed was comfortable and the nights quiet so we got a good night's sleep. The nearby railway crossing mean there are train sounds at night but this is not a problem for us – we like the sound of train whistles. We will stay here again. Only problem was a plugged bathroom sink – but it got fixed.

"Excellent Stay!"

This was a very nice motel with very caring and pleasant front desk personnel. We experienced no problems during out stay. Breakfast had a good variety and was spread out in the eating area. Definitely one of the better breakfasts that we have encountered.

"Well Maintained"

This is an old property that is well maintained by a good staff. The front desk, breakfast room, housekeeping, and maintenance staff were all very professional and friendly. The breakfast was standard fare but well presented.

"Wonderful Place to Stay"

This was way better than expected. Best handicap room we have ever seen. Everything you need was there and then some, and all very unobtrusive. Never saw folded back grab bars before. Out of the way unless you need them. We were very impressed. The location is in a shopping area so not what you would call posh. But the inside more than makes up for any lack of exterior ambiance. Highly recommend.

"Great place to stay"

Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Great Cont Breakfast. Friendly Staff and Clean Rooms. The outside could use some updating. The lobby area is a little small but very comfortable. I would stay again for sure.

"Good stay"

My husband and I were scheduled to stay in a different inn last night, but we cancelled once we found out that it didn't have air-conditioning, and it was located in the hot part of Washington. We realized that it might be difficult to find another place to stay on a Friday night along I-5 in the summertime. However, after calling this Best Western, I got them to hold a room for us. It may well have been the last room they had left, because I understand that they were full last night. We felt lucky! The inn is a typical one for the Best Western brand. It had reasonably good WiFi, comfortable bed, breakfast, swimming pool, and all of the rest, and it was along the highway just about a half-hour's drive from Deception Pass State Park, which is where we wanted to hike in the woods and along the beach. It is a motor inn setup where you can park by your door. Ask for a room downstairs if you have mobility issues, because there is no elevator.

"Dated from the outside - comfy and clean inside"

Our stay was kicked off by wonderful service checking in at the end of a looonnnggg day! Darlene was SUPER helpful and efficient - her dinner suggestion worked great! The wifi was easy to use and kept up with my work - saved me time and frustration

"Great & Comfortable"

This was a very pleasant hotel. Rooms were surprisingly nice and well furnished with a balcony view of pool. Wifi was working. Pool and hot tub are nice and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful, front desk and maintenance men.

"Great place!"

We stay here a few times a year. It is always clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and it is in a very convenient location near lots of places to shop and eat, yet it is very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast included with your stay is good too! Good variety of foods.

"Clean, Comfortable & Great Breakfast"

Although an older hotel, this property is very well maintained. Room & bathroom were clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast served from 6 - 10 am was hot, tasty and a great way to start our day. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Check in and out was fast and easy as was access to the Interstate freeway. Would stay here again.

Room was updated, beds comfortable, pool was great, breakfast was excellent - would be better if there was strawberries and whipping cream for the waffles. The lobby, parking lot, pool, room was very clean - staff was very helpful - newspaper and news on the tv while eating our breakfast..

"Good stay"

We booked this on website at last minute and we're pleased with our stay. The couch and chair were a little dirty but that was primarily due to or being white and used often. A little scrubbing would take care of it. Bed and breakfast were good.

This is a older hotel that had been remodel a few years. Exterior exist. Rooms were clean and well maintain. Staff was very friendly and helpfully. Truly want to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast and coffee were acceptable.

This hotel is a tucked away little gem. We didn't know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. The room was lovely with a very nice redone bathroom. The pool and hot tub were enjoyable. The lobby is small and breakfast a bit crowded.

"Best Western in Mt. Vernon"

I stayed at this Best Western while doing work up in Marysville, WA. Even though this hotel was 25 miles from my work project, I found it worth the additional drive. The rooms are clean and well maintained. It is not as fancy as some outer BW properties with high tech rooms with multiple phone outlets, but I found that it met my needs. The price was right and it is conveniently located a block off of I-5

"Road trip"

Not up to what I would say is Best Western standard. It's ok in a pinch. Using the Best Western name to set the price which is too high. We think it might be time to remove the Best Western sign. It's becoming very hard to figure out what is the standard set by Best Western. Time they took a little road trip.

"College Way--July 14, 15"

Great access from Interstate 5, close to restaurants, shopping and local attractions. The exterior was very clean, there was always some checking and cleaning, making sure the appearance of the property was up to the Best western standards. The staff was very professional, answering questions and making sure guests had good information, treating everyone with respect and professionalism. Definitely will return, when visiting the area.

"Extremely hostel to local residence"

We were having our house fumigate and needed a place to stay. The hotel requires a cash deposit to stay there if you are a local resident and make you wait while they inspect the room before giving your deposit back. Its disgusting to be treated this way.

BWCollegeWayInn, Customer Care at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Mark, Our policy regarding the need for a deposit from guests who live in the local area is the same as a most of the other motels in Mount Vernon. Since majority of the damages done in rooms are from those who live locally, we required $200.00 damage deposit(along with the actual room charges) at check in. At check out, if all is fine with the room, the deposit is released back to guest's account(credit card deposit) as you know. At check in , you didn't want to use your credit card (for preauthorization only) for the room deposit. So we ended up taking cash deposit, not even the whole amount. Please understand it is necessary for us to check the room before guest leaves and the cash deposit is returned to them. This way if there is any problem, we have the opportunity to resolve it. It took 4 minutes to checking the room you stayed in, this was verified via our security camera footage. I hope you can understand our need for this room deposit policy. We did not intend to offend you or any of our guests. Sincerely, Cherilyn Fisher customer care

"Excellent accommodation for the price"

We used this on a return trip from Portland Oregon, as a convenient stop near the border. Excellent breakfast, quiet huge rooms and an extremely helpful staff. Excellent location for anyone needing accommodation in this area.

"Budget hotel, clean with good breakfast"

Best Western in Mount Vernon has outdoor rooms. Room itself is clean. The environment appears to be safe. The amenities are basic and clean. I felt the bed was very comfortable. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was simple but better than some other hotel chains. There was hot food and varieties of fruits. Good coffee. Hopefully coffee cups can be a little bigger.

"Dirty-door wouldn't open-no elevator-steep stairs-dirty"

We stayed July 9 in a two queen room. We were given an upstairs room even though I am recovering from open heart surgery AND made it quite clear that I needed a downstairs room! It seemed like no one cared. No elevator, but very steep and unsafe stairs...card keys did not work....manager had to "play with the door" to open it. The large window had bird poop on it, fingerprints on it, and was totally grimy. The furniture was old and not cleaned. The floor was not clean. My grandson said this was the dirtiest room he had ever been in. I agree. DO NOT STAY HERE.

BWCollegeWayInn, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear flyoften, Please accept of our sincere apology that your stay with us was unsatisfactory. In reviewing your reservation I found that your online reservation didn't show any special request at all. When you arrived 11:30pm, there was no room available for what you needed. Most of the guests already checked in and no chance to change rooms. Linda(front desk) was fully aware of your situation and she suggested you could cancel this room and, stay at another location, if you wanted, even if our cancellation time was already passed. Especially summer time, we are frequently at full occupancy therefore, special request should be done in advance. In regards to the cleanliness of our large window in the room and the furniture(replaced with new ones in 2015) and floor not having been cleaned, I assure you we have addressed these issues to our housekeeping department. Thank you for bringing them to our attention. We have implemented new procedures for ensuring our guests have a clean and comfortable room. I hope your recovery has been free of complications and your health continues to improve. Best regards, Cherilyn Customer Care

"baseball tournament"

Spent four nights for baseball tournament. Super friendly staff, nice clean lobby and good breakfast. Rooms were clean, super comfy beds. Pool area was great, nice place to relax and swim in the pool and hot tub.

"Most Excellent"

We enjoyed our stay very much...this was our 2nd for this hotel Breakfast was good and pool was great. Staff and owner were very hospitable and made us feel welcome. Room was very clean and well maintained during our stay

"Wonderful staff, location and amenities"

This is a wonderful place to stay. The beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and the staff is very professional and friendly. I will stay at Best Western again. The desk staff was able to direct me to local areas I needed to go and was just wonderful!

"Don't be Fooled by Initial Perceptions"

This was the first hotel we stayed on, in this our Washington/Canada trip; having flown into Seattle a few hours earlier. We chose this as we liked the location, within shouting distance of the North Cascades NP and Anacortes where we had planned a ferry trip to Sidney, BC. Initial perceptions were a bit gloomy, as it looked a little tired; a perception not helped by the fact that we had driven 2 hours in the pouring rain on the I-5 and were a bit jet lagged. Upon closer inspection though this was a bit premature; the owners had made an effort with attractive hanging baskets and the pool area was clean, tidy and surprisingly picturesque. The room was spacious (single king I think) and with a balcony overlooking the pool area. We had initially considered changing our 2nd night there for the BW Skagit Valley Inn but were quite pleased we didn't in the end as the hotel 'grew' on us and the price differential didn't justify the hassle of moving. The breakfast was more than enough with hot eggs, bacon, sausages & cooked potatoes, and the obligatory waffles! The staff were helpful; no complaints here. As with virtually all BWs we have stayed in there is a refrigerator and microwave as standard. As for dining there are several fast food joints within walking distance, a Denny's just the other side of the I-5, a garage close by and if you're really struggling then there is a Walmart on your doorstep where you can get a truck-load of microwave meals if you so desire. The hotel is a few miles from the North Cascades highway and 20 miles from the ferry terminal. We'd definitely stay again.

"Family Visit"

Older structure, but well maintained and clean. Very friendly and professional, helpful staff. Very well maintained outdoor pool area with lawn, shrubs, and with nice lawn chairs, tables with umbrellas for a relaxing visit during summer time.

"Don't book this BW Motel thinking you're staying at the nice Best Western."

When you are one of the few guests not renting by the week or really wish you had made your reservation at the correct Best Western. You know the difference between a ride in a sweet sports car verses a long bus ride with no air conditioning in 110 degree weather on a bus filled with livestock.'s that different. Sooo. This bad dream is our fault. We thought we were booking the Best Western (less than a mile away) the Skagit Inn Best Western. When we made the reservation it was from our phone and we didn't see there were 2 Best Western options in same area. We unloaded all of our luggage...went to check in at the nice Hotel (not motel Best Western) they notified us we had reservation at other Best Western. We didn't even realize there was one. We tried to change the reservation to the correct hotel that we thought we booked and the Motel Best Western refused to let us change. So we had to pack up re pack car and goto the far we have heard every motorcycle, loud car and weird noises from our Motel Best Western. We tried to get the reservations changed once we arrived here...nope front desk wouldn't budge. So we are going to take turns listening for the car alarm through the night. Pretty sure our car isn't safe...we are not feeling secure either. Please do yourself a favor. the Best Western Hotel Skagit, or Best Western Motel college way. Only nice thing is the scent of the room and chain door lock. Figured Best Western Chain would help customer with changing reservation to correct hotel. But we were sadly mistaken. Good night...

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Darcey M, While we are sorry to hear that you accidentally booked your reservation with us and our “livestock” in the “ghetto” vs. the other Best Western here in Mount Vernon, we are happy to know that you enjoyed the scent of your room and the chain lock. Best Western has several different “tiers” of motels/hotels. In Mount Vernon, there is our Best Western, which is a “basic” motel, and the BEST WESTERN Plus Skagit Valley Inn, which has more amenities, upgrades, higher rates, etc. From time to time, guests will accidentally book at the wrong property. When guests call to cancel their stay here because they wanted the other BW Plus, we are more than happy to do so as long as the cancellation request comes in before/shortly after the cancellation time. (9:00/10:00 p.m. is too late to cancel.) Again, we're sorry that your booking error ended up this way. Hopefully the rest of your trip was okay. Sincerely, Management & Staff BW College Way Inn

"Road trip 2017"

Riding my Harley around Washington, Oregon, Idaho. Planned to stay here on one of days out and they offered a discount for HOG members. Not far from local Harley dealership as well. Staff very helpful.

"Tulip Time in Mount Vernon"

We spent 2 nights during the tulip season. Everybody was extra nice. The breakfast was excellent- eggs, country potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits, fruit and all the other goodies. Everything was spotless in the eating area. The shower was a real treat and large. This was probably one of the nicest places I have stayed for a very cheap price.

"Will never go back to this property"

This property was warn down and out dated. The rooms were very small. The hot tub was very small and outdated. No running jets water was like warm at best. It could hold 2. People comfortably. Way too small for multiple guest and size of property. The walls were way to thin and you could hear every movement in sourrounding rooms. I.E. sliding doors, people talking, running water, movement about rooms) we were woke up to sounds of gurgling toilets , and a drain snake bursting through our shower drain with clamping jaws and sparks..) worst experience in a hotel room I have ever had

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Brentr393, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us and apologize that it was not as good as it could have been. We have looked into some of the problems you have mentioned and found the following: Hot tub: Our hot tub is 450 gallons and has a maximum capacity of 4 adults. A new heater has just been installed and, per the health department, the maximum temperature we are to keep it at is 104 degrees. Walls: The walls in your room were actually made of cinder blocks. Perhaps some of the noise you heard came from outside the courtyard area/adjacent patios outside your sliding glass door or along the walkway outside your door . Bathroom/Plumbing: Again, we sincerely apologize for the unexpected/startling appearance of the plumber's snake that emerged through your shower drain without notice. There was a sudden/urgent plumbing problem in the room next door that required the use of the snake by the maintenance department. As they started to work on the project, they had no idea that the snake would/had come up through your drain. (Professionals were called in the following day to clean up the underground pipes/etc to help prevent this from happening again.) We are deeply sorry for the above incident and the understandable shock that this caused. We hope that you were able to enjoy the remainder of your trip. Sincerely, Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

"Great Stay"

This hotel is very nice and very reasonably priced. The rooms are clean and very comfortable and the staff are really friendly. The hot tub wasn't working when I was there, which was a bummer but I had a great stay.

"Excellent Service, Great location"

Ideal place to stay for the Tulip Festival, close to Mount Vernon town center and the tulip farms. Helpful guest services, comfy and clean rooms, hearty continental breakfast in the morning! Staff was accommodating to my needs for a first floor room. This Best Western was the ideal place for my stay in Mount Vernon. I slept incredibly well.

"Excellent cleanliness, service"

Basic facility, but very well maintained and good attention to cleanliness and guest service. Great value. Breakfast fine but space a bit limited; can be crowded. Location really convenient for stopover or anything in Skagit Valley.

Rooms were very clean and comfy. Staff was super friendly and willing to help. Breakfast was also fresh daily and really good. Location was great especially because its right off the freeway and close to any and all eating locations. We will definitely stay here again.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at Best Western College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Cecilliam2017, Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we did on your recent stay with us. We are happy to hear that we succeeded in our goals of providing you with a very clean/comfy room, super friendly/helpful staff and that you liked our easily accessible/convenient location. We're also glad that you enjoyed our recently expanded continental breakfast. We look forward to seeing you again the next time you are in the area. Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

"Nice motel, great room"

I almost hate to tell people about the extra large room. It might not be available on our next trip. Still, these folks deserve a call out for making this available. Big enough for a family, lots of extra room, and a kitchenette. We will try to stay here again.

"Good place to stay in Mt Vernon WA"

Though close to I-5 I've never heard the traffic when staying there. Convenient location near downtown Mt Vernon. But being close to I-5 makes it easy to get to nearby communities such as Bellingham or Burlington.

"Happy Camper"

The desk staff were friendly, cheerful, and helpful. My room and its bathroom were scrupulously clean - a major plus in my mind; everything worked ('frig, microwave, TV; lights); the bed was comfy and had sufficient pillows/blankets; and the breakfast was good with a wide variety of excellent choices.

"Convenient location and friendly service"

A convenient stop over just off the I-5. Friendly and helpful reception staff. The room was a good size and nicely appointed with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron/board. Wifi was excellent. Comfy bed and quiet area (we were at the back). Ample parking right in front of your room. Good breakfast and overall good value. There is a Mexican takeaway next door with great tacos and burritos.

"A wonderful expereince"

My wife and I spent the night here to enjoy the Tulip Festival. While the building was a bit older, all rooms had been recently renovated with the best of everything. Our stay proved to be excellent value for what we paid. A free hot breakfast was included.

"Nice hotel, great value."

Great central location, quiet comfortable room with friendly staff and a nice breakfast assortment Although we didn't use the pool it looked Well kept and the gardens were Beautiful I did think that $20.00 per night pet fee was a little high

"Quiet hotel with view of trees"

Quiet hotel with view of trees and friendly staff. Super convenient (the freeway is 1 block away), with lots of fast food eateries within walking distance, Safeway, Walmart and other shopping as well. Within 10-15 minute drive are downtown Mount Vernon, Burlington Outlet Shopping, the tulip fields, hiking, and bird watching. About 1/2 hour to Anacortes ferry to Canada & the San Juan Islands. Well appointed and clean room, good internet, and great breakfast.

"Shopping Trip To Mt. Vernon"

Found hotel to be close to every thing including the freeway, yet no noise from it. Room ready on arrival and very clean. Breakfast room is small but not busy when we where there, great coffee as well as a nice selection of pastries. Cool when we visited but the pool area looked very inviting almost like a resort. Price quoted was accurate but we do not use re-seller sites. Will stay again.

"Great find."

We were doing business in Mt. Vernon and stayed for one night at the BW. The room was immaculate and comfortable, the staff friendly and efficient and the breakfast fantastic. The grounds are clean and well lit. It was a great value.

"1 Night Get Away"

My husband and I wanted to stay over 1 night as we were attending a music concert in the area so we choose this Best Western. For a quick stay this hotel is close to I-5 shopping and restaurants. The breakfast is great for a quick meal to get you going.

"Excellent Experience!"

We were unable to return to Vancouver Island due to bad storms which caused the Ferry systems to shut down. We needed a safe dry place to stay for two nights and walked into this Hotel. What a wonderful surprise, from the outside it looks very generic BW but the staff were excellent. We were able to check in immediately at 1pm. Our room was small but very comfortable and extremely clean! The bed was excellent and very comfortable. A complaint we always have about lower priced Hotels/Motels is usually the lighting in the rooms being very dim with 40 watt bulbs, This was a pleasant surprise..we had bedside lighting, a Floor Lamp, and excellent desk lamp and lighting from the Vanity area and all were nice bright bulbs! We will definitely stay here again.

"older property but very nicely renovated"

This property is right off of the I-5 and is an older property. The rooms in the back face an open field and are protected from any noise from the freeway. The property was recently renovated and is as good as any newer property we have been to. Recommend the property highly. Be on notice that the breakfast is the common BW fare with no hot meats or hot eggs. Waffles are there but that is about it.

"Suzanne "

Rarely do I bother to write a negative review but this time I couldn't help myself. A month ago I reserved a room on the ground floor as my Mom doesn't do stairs well, anymore. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told our room had been given to someone else and there were no ground floor rooms available. We took the room up the flight of stairs. We did sleep well, so well that we didnt arrive to the breakfast room untill 9:40. Breakfast is served until 10:am. The waffle batter was empty and the young girl came and filled a little cup for me and took the waffle fixins away to the back room. We got our breakfast and at 9:55 all the bread was removed. If we wanted any more than our first helping, it was too bad most everything was gone. We then told the front desk attendant that we did not need our room cleaned or any fresh towels. We had everything we needed. When we returned to our room at the end of the day there was a peanut on the bathroom floor and our room had been attended to. I've written a review of this location once before about the lack of cleanliness and returned one again anyway. I'm thinking after returning to this location a couple of times a year for the past 5 years or so, I think it's time we checked out a new hotel.

"Comfortable beds"

Stays at the Best Western hotels are very consistent - they are always very good and you can count on COMFORTABLE beds and clean rooms. I like this one in particular because it is next to a great Chinese Restaurant - The Fortune. And, there's plenty of stores to go shopping.

"Quiet and Comfy"

This is the third time in the last few years I've stayed at this hotel. It is away from most traffic noise (at least on the back side) and kept clean and tidy. It is an older place but fairly well maintained. Our room was small but comfortable. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was minimal (compared to many BWs) but adequate.

"Very nice place to stay"

We enjoyed the stay there. The breakfast was OK but not up to most best western standards. Very small lobby which is also breakfast area. The hotel is a little older and outside not too appealing but the rooms are nice and comfortable. The gentleman that checked us in did a good job helping us get more information.

"Room okay, people not"

Front desk people decent. Room itself was okay. Typical free breakfast. No insulation in walls, I could hear the people over me, people next to me fighting, and other people next to me talking & laughing. All of the people I could hear started at 10 pm.

considering the age of this hotel we felt it was in fairly good condition and well maintained.a little more pick-up in the parking lot. the breakfast was ok, considering the size of the office and serving area. missed my regular eggs and meat.

"over night stay"

older property but clean and comfortable great value for the amenities, easy on and off freeway little noise due to close proximity to freeway....but that would be understandable. Breakfast good, quick and convienient.

"Quiet Rooms and Friendly, Efficient, Service"

From making my reservation to checking in (I just left key in room and did not "check out"), Best Western College Way in exceeded my expectations. I checked in around midnight and the front desk clerks were FRIENDLY and efficient even at that late hour. The motel is an older property, but well-maintained with extra-quiet rooms. With the fridge and microwave in the room, the value is MUCH better (for the price per night is lower) than Extended Stay America (where I stayed recently) -- better quality, too.

"Travel Stop"

Traveling to see friends. The price, location and overall services available were just what we were looking for. Quiet, clean and friendly. Plenty of off-street parking and close to freeway, eating spots and recreational venues.

"Some very good things, but I probably wouldn't stay here again"

Front desk helpful about ferry logistics to San Juan Islands. Handicapped room we had was spacious although the TV location was awkward. Bed was GREAT, very firm but WHY WHY are motels going to these small square bed pillows that won't stay in place under your head???! Kitchenette was well furnished and fridge was large. Location was convenient for driving but I didn't feel very safe walking my dog at night, surrounded on 3 sides by unlit and heavily wooded vacant lots. Oh, and excellent wifi.

"Nicely remodeled older property"

This is obviously and older property but has been remodeled and is kept nice. Room was very clean and bed though a tad soft was fine as well. I believe the rooms are overpriced here, but they are everywhere else in this area. Good wi-fi connection, good channel selection on TV.

"Clean and good wifi!"

Easy on and off the freeway! Not much to look at on the outside! It is an older two story. We had a downstairs room and it was nicely updated. We had a patio door with table and chairs that overlooked the pool. There was a refrigerator and microwave. Plenty of room for two. Wifi was great! Walking distance to restaurants and Wal Mart. Very quiet! Grout in shower needed cleaning especially the ceiling above shower. Breakfast was continental...hard boiled eggs (not peeled) and no bacon or sausage. Everything was well stocked and kept clean.

"Nice place to stay"

We stayed here do to it's location being close to an event we were participating in. It's in a quiet area and not far from restaurants/shopping. The pool and hot tub were great. The front desk staff very helpful. We booked again for next year

"one night stay"

bed were comfy. They are fairly big rooms. Just of the freeway. Close to 24 hrs.Walmart Rooms are quiet. Pool is nice. Hot tub is ok. We had 7 stay with 2 rooms. One room had 3 queen beds and a couch (should be a hideabed) and a kitchen.

"Clean and Simple, Interesting and Satisfying"

This is an interesting older motel-like site that BW acquired and fixed up. It is unique and is a refreshing step away from the typical rectangular lock-box hotels in this price range. I recommend it for those who want something clean, safe, and comfortable, but also are tired of the box hotels and long for some flavor. It has a welcoming exterior decor, which might be described as Spanish, and is well kept and appears to have been freshly painted. Room doors open to the outside, and most face the central patio and pool area. Only two floors and no elevator. The room we were in was unexpectedly spacious (wide). You might say it has wasted space in the middle, but nothing to complain about. This was not a suite, although they do have some apartment-like rooms with full kitchens. The room had decent and relatively new furnishings (nice table and chairs and dresser), and updated bathroom (marble counters and re-tiled floor). Also had fridge with a small freezer and decent TV and selection of channels. The kids had fun in the relatively large pool and hot tub. The interior patio is secluded and well kept and has a garden feel. The pool and tub seemed clean. The location is a few blocks off I-5, but is a little farther away from the freeway and the railroad than are most other hotels in the area, which is a positive. We did not have a problem with noise or trains. Breakfast is served in the lobby. There are only about 4-5 tables and all but one table had only 3 chairs. There were no hot items except for the waffles, coffee, and the hot water you might use for tea or oatmeal. There was yogurt and hard-boiled eggs and limited assortment of bagels and pastries probably some cereal. Although we were here on a Monday morning at 7:30 and had a pleasant experience for breakfast, I have to wonder if there would be enough room on the weekends (might check other reviews). Here is a general comment for all hotel staff. If you have more than 2 people in a room, when you are checking them in, you might tell them that you usually stock each room with only two sets of towels and would like to know if they need more. Or, better yet, check the reservation in advance and make sure there are enough towels ready. That would save time for both parties. We have had this problem at several other hotels and do not fault this hotel specifically, but would like the staff to know so they might set a standard for dealing with this common situation. Overall a pleasant stay with no complaints and a little fun on the side.

"Clean and comfy room after a long day"

We stopped by here after a long day of travel. The room was clean and the hotel was quiet. We slept well. The owners were on site and were very accommodating and friendly. We stayed on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. That was fine with us because the top floor always seems quieter. There was a balcony overlooking the inside court yard. We didn't use it, but if we were staying longer we would have. This was just a quick stop after a long day of travel then off the next morning to continue driving.

"An ok stay for a night or two..."

We booked this hotel to be close to a wedding that was nearby over the weekend. The hotel is older, however very clean… When we were first given our keys to the room we couldn't get them to work however with a little jiggling, they finally did. The room was clean, the bed was very soft (and for my back it wasn't a good fit) but I think some people probably would love it. They are pet friendly, which was one of the reasons why we chose the hotel, however there is a $20 fee each night that added onto the price of the room. The pool was very, nice as the weekend was very warm… Overall it's an OK hotel, with a decent breakfast bar, and unless you have a back like mine, the beds were all right, just way too soft…

"Great Property"

My only issue was the lack of breakfast choices. IE only hard boiled eggs that are very hard to peel. Egg choices would be great along with a breakfast meat bacon or sausage like any other BW I've stayed at. Overall very well kept property would stay again. Next week will be my 5th on this job and there is a BW Plus across the hiway that alone shows my support for BW college way inn.

"Old Property, Lovely Renovation"

Yes, it is an old style 2 story motel with stairs to the second floor. But, they have gutted and renovated the rooms. The décor is lovely. The bathrooms are still small, but also nicely renovated. I was a bit concerned when we arrived at what the noise level might be with the freeway and railroad and semi-trucks parked close by. But, they have replaced the windows in the front and I never heard the traffic or trucks. The trains sounded far away and didn't disturb my sleep at all. They have also installed those heater/air conditioners that hang high on the wall - so much better and quieter than those noisy units many places have under the windows. Breakfast was the expected BW fare with a nice twist for us yogurt lovers - nuts, raisins, granola and chocolate chips to add in. On top of it all, their pool is large and placed in the center of the complex - so much nicer than being in the middle of a parking lot. It is a nice property for the price point.

Just off the Interstate, I wanted nothing more than sheets and a shower. College Way Inn delivers much more. A delightful spot. Amenities galore. Everything is clean. Everything works. It's not fancy. Just good. Very good. I'll stay here again on future drive-bys. Although... the amenities are so good that I can see (summer) travelers enjoying a multi-day stay just to enjoy the patios, the pool, spa, etc.

"Old Motel"

Stayed one night on our way to the San Juan Islands. Everything in Anacortes was sold out. Paid way Too much for a old motel room next to the freeway exit. Old style motel with stairs to the second story - no elevator. The staff were friendly enough at check-in. Wouldn't recommend or stay there again. Better options on a non-busy weekend.

"Over night stay"

got a ground floor room wanted top floor but got ground level. Bed had a memory foam was not good on wife had back surgery 1 yr ago.the heat light was thee main light in bathroom, remote did not work..check out young girl would rather tex in back then deal with check out and when finally came out told her concern was not really concern just wanted to tex on her phone...

"Comfortable Average Clean Room"

These motel style rooms were comfortable and roomy enough, it wasn't modern but was clean both inside the rooms and the grounds. The area was quiet, parking was ample but the breakfast left a lot to be desired and the breakfast area was way to small. It is close to shopping and was good value.

"Quick Stay"

We stayed at Best Western College Way Inn so we could take the Ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor the next day. We were pleasantly surprise with the room. It was huge and the beds were very comfortable. It is also located near a variety of food places and a Safeway grocery store. We were sad to leave the room so early the next day.

"Mt Vernon weekend"

Great stay at a great price; convenient location; would stay there againl. Coffee could have been better especially since the area is known for its coffee. But we still stick with Best Western. We plan our trips with BW if one is in the area where we travel.

"It was ok,but wouldnt stay there again"

We were not familiar with Mt Vernon and needed a place to stay for two nights. We should have done a more thorough search of the area's lodgings. The room was ok, but dark and stuffy. We checked in early but we were given a room at the far end of the property which we didn't like. The front desk was courteous, but the complimentary breakfast was a joke for diabetics. I would not stay here again, unless absolutely no other choice. They do give a military discount which we greatly appreciated. Cathy 6/1/16

"late night"

Driving through a town I didn't know, late at night, Linda at the front desk answered when I inquired about a room. She helped navigate me with good directions, saved the room for me and eased my checkin. Just what I needed after my long day of travels. Thank you!

"My rating of this hotel"

Average for mid priced range hotel. The bed was great as were the pillows. Orange light on the phone would not stop blinking and the room was noisy. Staff was professional and the breakfast was fresh, well presented and good.

"Discovered a Gem"

Our turn off of the highway to find a motel for the night put us on the doorstep of the Best Western Inn and we're very happy that it did. We were completely impressed with everything about the motel. Walking into the lobby we found a spotless room with a breakfast area set up off to the side. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming and found us a ground floor room at the rear of the building with a king sized bed for a reasonable price. The room was spacious with newer furnishings and a flat screen tv and was completely clean and well equipped with a small refrigerator and a microwave as well as the usual amenities. We had a great sleep in the very comfortable bed and found the room to be well sound insulated as there was very little noise from above or beside us. The next morning we helped ourselves to the nice free breakfast in the lobby and then walked around the motel area and found the grounds to be as spotless as the rest of the building with well tended flower pots and planters. The sidewalks and parking lot were just as well tended which left us thinking that we haven't found a motel or hotel that could beat the care that the owners and staff put into this Best Western. We'll highly recommend this one to our friends and family and make a point of staying here whenever we're travelling in the area.

"average room, dated, but, safe and convenient"

room is adequate. Bed is comfortable. Clean, yet, dated. Towels and linens reflect price. Some towels had holes. Breakfast is the usual fare. But, nice to have it included. Good location right off the freeway, but, still quiet. DQ, and walmart close by if you forget anything. microwave and fridge in the room

"Comfortable and convenient"

We stayed for 4 nights after coming to this area for a family wedding. We have stayed here once before, also for a visit with family. The room was clean and reasonably spacious, the bed was comfortable with good pillows, and there were plenty of lights, mirrors and electrical outlets. The rooms were recently updated, including the bathroom fixtures. The shower was good. An initial glitch getting the free wifi to work was quickly resolved after a call to the tech support number provided; after that, the wifi was good throughout our stay. The continental breakfast included yogurt and hard-boiled eggs as well as fruit, fresh muffins, breads, and bagels. The staff is nice, helpful, and competent. The location is convenient for quick meals (eg, iHOP, DQ) and about a mile from downtown for more comprehensive restaurant choices. We were here over Independence Day weekend, so the prices were higher than our previous visit in March 2015, but a still good value compared with other places nearby. Luxurious? No, but good for the price range.

"Clean, nice rooms, kitchen! "

We were passing through on the way to visit family and unfortunately booked at a hotel down the street that I can only describe as a nightmare. We called and they got us right in, even bringing a roll away bed in for our extra kiddo. It is very clean, and pretty. The room we stayed in had granite counter tops, a kitchen, a walk in shower (not sure if all of the rooms have a walk in shower as we stayed in the handicap room) the beds were super comfortable, had a huge big screen TV, and it looked brand new!!

"Rather Average Stay"

I really hate to say this because the service at the hotel was really great, but I was not very impressed with the hotel. The location is goo and it is quiet, but the place is old, dated and smells musty. The breakfast bar was not the greatest but it wasn't any worse than most hotels in this price range. What made this hotel a little above average was the great service with a smile. That is always appreciated. The beds were also very comfortable.

"Just so-so"

I have stayed at many Best Western inns in the past. Best Western defines its inns in three categories: Premier, Plus, and its basic inn, which isn't as luxurious as the Premier and Plus. Usually, these inns are worth a stay, and I've never been disappointed with one of them. This inn is rather dated, but we didn't have any issues with cleanliness of the facility or friendliness on the part of the staff. Breakfast was fine. They have the usual selection of fruit, hard-boiled eggs, bread, waffles from a waffle maker, etc. Our room, like many rooms, faced a beautiful pool with a lovely grassy area and pool deck. If you can't walk up steps, I suggest that you stay on the first floor, since there is no elevator at the hotel.

"Efficient, clean, quiet"

It's a stereotypical Best Western. Clean, comfortable, good for a day or two. Good location for a hotel for a pit stop between North Cascades and Whidbey Island on the way to Olympic National Pork. Chinese and Mexican restaurants on the same lot and a DQ across the side street.

"Good value, minutes away from the tulips and easy from I5"

We have been here many many times and always find the staff friendly. Rooms are clean with comfortable beds and well maintained, with plenty of space. Good breakfast in the Best Western usual fare, and excellent access to all the nearby places. Overall we are happy to come here on many occasions

Our stay at this hotel was a unsatisfactory stay. We travel for work on a weekly basis, and this was by no means a pleaserable experience. If i have my say on where to stay next time we're in the area i would not choose this hotel. I've personally stayed in many hotels over the past couple years, and this hotel rates very low on my list of quality hotels.

"Great respite from rain showers"

We are Westfalia camping on our way from Northern California to Vancouver Island and the San Juans. Caught in a strong series of downpours, we sought dryness in this Best Western property. Very clean, very comfortable, great location 3 minutes to city center....would definitely stay here again. Being Best Western premier members, we received an automatic upgrade. We're fewer than 90 miles to the Canadian border, so tomorrow's drive should be quite easy. (Go Westy! Keep plugging along.). We also had a complimentary breakfast; not great but the price was certainly very good. Very pleasant staff and lots of parking. Several restaurants nearby, walking distance. Less than one minute to I-5 north or south. Give it a try when you are in the Mt. Vernon area.

"Convenient location"

Stayed at hotel during tulip festival. Hotel located on access road close to the tulip fields. Room was nice, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking. Free breakfast offered. Few fast food restaurants nearby.

"Best stop before the ferry to Orcas"

After flying into Seatac Best Western Collage Inn was a great place to stay before catching the ferry to the Islands. If you like walking there is plenty to walk to. I am glad I stayed there and hope to visit again soon.

"Nikki is Excellent!"

We stayed here for almost 2 weeks straight. Rooms are a tad small, but the hotel is surprisingly quiet. WiFi worked good. Housekeeping was good. Special mention for the front-desk clerk Nikki. She's easy/excellent to work w. & has the personal touch. We were going to book on-line through Expedia for a far lower rate than what the hotel was offering directly. I spoke w. 2 different front desk clerks & they were not very accommodating...until we reached Nikki! She made it happen almost immediately & hence secured our business for almost 2 weeks...and when we return to Mt. Vernon. Not a bad stay @ all, and we should know, we travel the country full-time & stay in hotels all over the U.S.A. Thanks again Nikki! God Bless.

"just okay"

Very small rooms. Mediocre breakfast. No good place to walk dogs. One bed was comfortable; the other was not. Housekeeping only partially completed. Hotel room was nice and quiet. But you had to stand on a chair to adjust the AC. As the other BW in town no longer accepts dogs, will probably stay here again, but definitely preferred the other hotel.

"Great location and overall experience"

Great location, friendly staff, and clean, quiet room with a comfortable bed for a reasonable price. Would definitely stay here again if traveling around the Mount Vernon area and would recommend to others.

"Great Value"

Traveling for business. Room was updated and clean. It was only a few dollars more than Days Inn, Comfort Inn. Well worth the 5 extra dollars. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of items to choose from. I will stay here again if in the area.

"Cared For"

I felt cared for by this Hotel. The staff made sure I was in a quiet room away from groups of people that had a event going on that day. I slept well. I will come back to this Hotel. I highly recommend it.

We had planned on going to the Days Inn but decided on the Best Western. It was a much nicer property. The breakfast was good and I appreciate having a nice pitcher of sugar-free syrup for my waffle, since I am diabetic.

"Great Customer Service"

I cannot say enough about the front desk staff that works at this property. They were polite and courteous, able to answer questions about the local area and even recommend places to eat. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The comforter and sheets made for great snuggling in the cooler nights. The breakfast area was small and they offered a standard continental breakfast.

"Great One Night Stay in Mount Vernon"

Took a quick trip up to Oak Harbor for the weekend and we decided to stay here on the way home. Nice staff, good location, lots of food options near by. Plenty of parking. The room was clean with a nice view of the pool. (Some rooms have a patio, ours did not, but we were okay with that). LOVED the beds, they were so comfortable. Easy checkout as we paid when we checked in. Did not try the morning breakfast as we wanted to go over to iHop. So it was a great hotel for the night, I would definitely recommend.

"Good for one night stop"

We stayed here for one night in March 2016 on our trip from Vancouver to Seattle. Plenty of parking spaces. Really big room and nice pool in the yard. Many restaurants close by. Breakfast is included and was quite good.

"good hotel"

set up two rooms here for family coming to visit in town. they loved the rooms and said breakfast was great and so was staff. Good pRICE AND nice beds as well the grounds were very well kept! have to say great job

"Our stay in Mount Vernon"

We always enjoy Best Western for their good value and consistent quality. Not always the newest or the most fancy but clean and comfortable and a great breakfast included. We went to Mount Vernon for the Tulip Festival and were very happy with our stay. Would recommend highly. It had one of the very nicest pool areas of any hotel I've seen.

"Practical choice in Mt Vernon"

The hotel is near the freeway. The rooms are clean and spacious. Stayed here to enjoy the Tulip bloom. You have to stay locally to witness the Tulips or you can spend inordinate amount of time in traffic There are reasonable food choices around here.

"Good place to stay"

Have stayed here quite a few times now and as always they have met or exceeded my expectations. The room was very nice and comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay. Location is perfect for what we were doing. Looking forward to our next adventure!

"Best Western College Way, Mt. Vernon, WA"

Easy to assess off of I-5. The room was very clean and well appointed. Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable bedding. Would stay here again. Pet friendly. Good value for cost. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of room for the cost.

"clean basic room"

This is a clean basic motel in a convenient location for handy access to the I-5. Unfortunately, the food services are not close to walk to but staff are very friendly and helpful with recommendations and directions. We chose and enjoyed an excellent meal at Max Dale's Chop House. Excellent service and meal.

"Trip to Mount Vernon for Business"

All went extremely well. My stay at the hotel was great and the business that had to be taken care of went better than expected. Enjoyed the stay and the weather was beautiful for a trip to the area with all of the Tulips in bloom. Traffic was a bit of a challenge but being with someone who knew how to get around the big traffic tie-ups was great.

"Affordable and adequate"

My husband and I wanted to stay a night for the tulip festival. The room was well priced, clean, and conveniently located. Other guests were loud and moving around a bit early for our liking, but that isn't the hotel's fault. Can't beat it for a quick trip!

"Great place to stay"

This our second time staying here. Both times have been wonderful. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a wide variety of items and they it was all fresh. The room was spacious and comfortable. Would stay here again if I'm in the area.

this is a great place to stay you are close to all kinds of things to do and a lot are in walking the staff is very friendly and very helpful had a great stay the rooms were very clean we asked for extra towle before we got there and they had them in the room for us we would syat here again

"One night stay"

Pillows were really bad bring your own! Being close to the freeway it was a bit loud. There was also a big rig truck in the parking lot that started up and ran at 430 am not a fan of that. Once awake it was hard to go back to sleep. Breakfast was decent.

Dear 88kathleent, Thank you for letting us know about your recent stay with us. "Best Western Mt Vernon, WA"

Very clean hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. It is only a block from I-5, but there is no problem with the freeway noise. Continental breakfast was very good and fresh. Rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable. I had a great night's sleep.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear kostersr, Thank you for your kind review. It was our pleasure to serve your lodging needs during your stay with us. "worst hotel"

great location, right off the freeway, rooms are sub standard for , breaksfast was nothing to write home about, they cut the muffins in half , i like the whole , the breakfast presentation is not that great. Staff were very helpful. Building looks like a cheap motel and could do with some new doors and paint job. I have stayed at several best westerns and this does not feel like one. Very cheap look and feel.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Adrian S, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. While we are happy that you were able to enjoy our easily accessible location, we're sorry the rest of your stay (rooms, breakfast, building) didn't meet your standards. We are in the last year of a property wide design renovation project and are seeking approval for adding more variety to our continental breakfast. We hope you will give us a second chance the next time you are in Mount Vernon. Sincerely, Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

"Good place, great value"

Hotel was in a good location for us for eagle watching on the Skagit River. The room was comfortable as was the bed. morning breakfast was adequate with good quality food. Bathroom was small but had a large shower.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Roger B, We are happy to hear that you were able to get a chance to come and watch on the eagles on the Skagit River this month. (This can be quite an awesome sight.) We're also glad that you enjoyed our comfortable beds, continental breakfast and large shower. We hope to see you again the next time you are in the area. (If you'd prefer a room with a combination tub/shower, just let us know at the time you make a reservation and we'll be happy to accommodate your request if able.) "Lured into "2.5 star hotel""

This hotel is very old. And I would never have stayed here had they been truthful about their star rating. This is 1.5 star hotel. I will contact Best Western and ask them to drop this hotel from their chain. This hotel gives a bad name to Best Western. Our room had a bad smell, door that was at least 50 years old, cleanliness was so-so, bed was so old that it gives no support to the back. Very disappointing to be lied to about star rating.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear vtofa, Thank you for your comments. We're sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your stay with us. It is our goal to provide all guests with clean/comfortable rooms. In regards to the star rating for our motel, these rating are provided to Trip Advisor from third party partners, not from individual hotels. We would like to know which room you stayed in so we can check the bed, etc. If you could get in touch with us to let us know, it would be appreciated. Sincerely, Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

"Dirty room"

Our family has been staying at Best Western hotels since 2012, mostly because my husband's loyalty. I've never had a bad BW experience until this stay. The hotel is a bit old, and it's close to farmland so expect the smell of manure. That would have been fine if the room was clean. The remote had an obvious brown stain on it, which I wiped off with a wet cloth. There was a pube in bed sheets. We arrived at close to midnight and after having been up since 4:30am that day, we were way too tired to complain and didn't find it worth the trouble. It was obvious that someone did not do a good job cleaning the room. The bed itself was way too soft, it's not tempur pedic but something like it, except for that one sinks in way more.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Jelena S., Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. We sincerely apologize for failing in our goal of providing you with a quality/clean room. If we had been made aware of these cleanliness issues during your stay, we would have been more than happy to move you into a different room. At the very least, take care of the problems that you found so you could rest more easy. (We have shared your review with our head housekeeper and entire housekeeping department and steps are being taken to prevent this from happening again.) As for the mattress topper on the bed, we do have several rooms without the memory foam toppers for those who prefer a firmer mattress. We hope that you will consider giving us a second chance the next time you are in Mount Vernon. Sincerely, Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

"Cold and staff not apologetic"

The bed was so comfortable, room was super clean, most staff were great - but for some reason the heat stop working and when I called the girl was rude, not very apologetic and trust me it was freakin cold in our room.. There is no heat in the bathrooms and tile flooring it was cooollllldddd!!!

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear Sharlene C, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are happy to hear that you were able to enjoy our clean rooms, comfortable bed and mostly great staff. As for the problems that you had with your heater not working at one point during your stay, we sincerely apologize for the discomfort the coldness caused and for the non-apologetic front desk clerk who took your call. We will be sharing your review with all staff as a reminder of the need for friendly/quality customer service at all times. We hope you will consider staying with us again the next time you are in the area. Sincerely, Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

"Last Minute Reservation"

By 4pm I realized I needed to book a hotel in town for some business I was doing. I have always had consistent success with Best Western and the pricing is usually the most cost effective too, so I looked up the nearest one and made the call. The receptionist was very helpful and even made a follow up call to make sure I knew how to find the hotel.

"Very Easy place to stay . . . Arrived with no reservation"

Had reservation at another hotel in the area. . . THEY overbooked, and turned us away! This place was very accommodating, Especially when we told them the problem! GREAT breakfast, they allow taking it back up to your room!

"Clean, comfortable"

This is an older property that has had some updates. Our family of two adults, two kids, and one dog found it very comfortable and clean. It looks like management really cares about the property. The landscaping is well maintained and there is a nice pool and hot tub out back. It is located off the interstate but is very convenient to food/shopping. We heard the train several times in the night as other reviewers mentioned but it wasn't too loud. We would stay here again.

"This hotel has a large room with 3 queen beds."

My sisters, mother, daughter and I have been going to this hotel for our annual shopping trip for several years now. We love that we can all stay together in the one huge room with three queen size beds. It has a small kitchenette with dishes and a dining table with six chairs. There is a couch and TV which we seem not to use. We like to play cards after we have eaten our dinner in our room. The beds are very comfortable and the staff is great. One short coming has been that sometime there are six of us women and only one bathroom but the owner has let us use the bathroom of another close room in case of emergency. The water pressure in the shower could be better too but not much can be done about that. Overall this has been the only place that we can stay six in a room and be really comfortable.

"Comfortable Clean place to stay"

We were visiting in the area and needed a place to stay. Have stayed at a couple other area hotels on previous visits. Best Western is nicer and the bed more comfortable. Good location -easy access to freeway. We'll stay again when in the area.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review

"Great stay Mt. Vernon"

I recently stayed at the Best Western in Mt. Vernon. The stay was great and the staff were very helpful - even though when I checked in and my heat was not working in my room they were helpful in moving me to another room. The room was very clean - the only complaint I have is the noise from the rooms upstairs as I was on the first floor.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear 855debra, Thank you for your recent stay with us. We're glad that you had a great stay with the exception of: 1) the non-working heat in your original room (we were more than happy to help you switch to a different room with working heat) and 2) the noise from the rooms upstairs. If you stay with us again, maybe a second floor room would be a quieter option. Please let us know and we'll do what we can to accommodate you. We hope to see you again the next time you are in Mount Vernon, WA. Sincerely, Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

"We were disappointed"

The staff check in was fine. Room was okay. Don't expect to get sleep if you stay here. Walls are EXTREMELY thin and not only can you hear your neighbors perfectly but there is a train nearby and the train going by ALL NIGHT sounds like an air horn is in your room.

BWCollegeWayInn, Manager at BEST WESTERN College Way Inn, responded to this review
Dear 47rinat, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. We're sorry to hear that the local train kept you awake at night. If you find hat you need to stay with us again, please ask for a room on the west side of the building as it is more protected from noise. We also have ear plugs available at the front desk upon request. Sincerely, Management & Staff BEST WESTERN College Way Inn

This is a bit older property but I liked it. It was a great value for a Best Western. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was just fine and the staff excellent. Glad we discovered this place and we will definitely stay there next time we are in the area.

"Good Value, Good Sleep, Good Freeway Access"

I stayed one night recently while visiting family in the area and encountered no issues. The property is easy to find off of I-5 at exit 227. Walk to Camiceria Los Compradres, Dairy Queen Brazier, Fortune Mandarin. A very short drive to a Shell station, Taco Bell, Jersey Mike's Subs, Jack in the Box, Denny's, Safeway, and a pizza place. My room was very clean, and the bed comfortable. The free in-room wi-fi worked well. My stay was quiet. The breakfast consisted of fresh fruits, muffins & other pastries, breads, juices, hard boiled eggs, cold cereals, and more. I enjoyed chatting with the friendly staff and would not hesitate to stay here again.

"College Way Best Western Brings down the reputation."

What a dump this place has become. Dead flies on window sills. They gave towels fro 1 person even though 2 people staying. They couldn't bring the towels until the next day so had to go and get them. It was only 4 PM, so not sure why this occurred. Formerly very nice staff, but sadly this too has gone by the wayside.

"Dark, needs updating, skip the breakfast"

I would not stay here again, certainly not worth the price of the rooms. Very disappointed for a Best Western hotel. We have stayed at many other BW and they have all been great. This hotel seemed to be more like a long term rental units for truckers and bikers. Not much choice for breakfast, so it wasn't surprising that there was only one other couple in the breakfast room at 9am. The location was convenient, but that was about the only positive I can think of.

Dear Carol-Thank you for your review and we are sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience with us on your recent stay. We take in pride in ensuring we meet our guests' satisfaction and we apologize we did not meet your expectations. As you may already know, there are various tiers within the Best Western(BW) Brand, our property being the standard BW tier. In order to provide our guests with an economical price compared to the Plus and Premier BW tiers, we operate in an economical manner and have to consider/plan adding extra amenities(e.g. wider variety of breakfast foods)that you can typically get at the Plus and Premier locations. You will also notice that we operate at a much more competitive rate relative to the other nearby motels of equal quality and tier. We are always trying to improve to ensure we are providing the highest customer service, so thank you again for your feedback.

"Nice Hotel, Easy Access, Great Staff!"

Usually don't leave reviews but this hotel had a wonderful bed, awesome shower head, good breakfast and GREAT staff! Even left a towel on our motorcycles in the morning to wipe off the dew. Will definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again! Thank you for an excellent experience!!!!

"Would recommend!"

Clean, comfortable well decorated rooms. Nice pillows with fluffy sheets for a good night sleep. The towels were soft and not like some of the other motel's threadbare type. Good variety of breakfast options. What more do you need?
