Best Western Plus Luna del Mar

The locks were rusty, the furniture was old and not well maintained, the drainage tube of the shower was unscrewed and smelled bad, the towels looked dirty. The staff was nice, but our checkout was really long since the staff was not trained. The beach is near and nice, but the sea has some high wave, the district is ok. My experience in this hotel was not good

We drove to Manzanillo, Colima from Chapala, Jalisco this morning for a one-night romantic getaway, and reserved a Suite with a Jacuzzi tub. We called ahead to assure that our room had a Jacuzzi. The place was relatively deserted when we arrived, no one in the restaurant all afternoon ... and we were alone in the pool. The Jacuzzi was HUGE and took well over 90 minutes to fill (seemed wasteful of hot water). However, it did not work. We called down to front desk and requested a maintenance man. They first sent two guys around 8 pm, a young man and an older man who reeked of alcohol and staggered, and both left after about 20 minutes and not being able to start Jacuzzi. A second call to front desk brought the young man back, who worked enthusiastically for another 40 minutes, then left, saying he would return. After waiting 20 minutes with no return, a third call to front desk gal, Angie, had her send the older, drunk guy. He worked for another 15 minutes before giving up. Meanwhile, handfuls of Dirt were being forced out of the various jets, making the water unusable. I called to Angie again and reminded her we were there for one romantic evening with a Jacuzzi tub and since it was unusable, we were needing a partial refund. She said we needed to talk with Manager FELIPE LUNA at 8am. I asked her to leave Mr. Luna a message about our more than Two Hours of failed maintenance attempts on our Jacuzzi tonight. We felt it would be appropriate to have a refund of the difference between a Standard Room and this room with Jacuzzi (a difference of $1,303 MXN or $64.50 USD). Shortly thereafter Mr Luna called our room and, after repeating that we felt a partial refund was due, he offered us 'breakfast' in the morning, 'worth $20 USD'. I repeated that the difference in room rates would be appropriate ... and FELIPE LUNA lied and insisted the difference in room rates was $20 USD!! After reading other reviews about the poor quality of their restaurant, I'm glad we did not accept Mr Luna's ridiculous offer. This was a learning experience and we will definitely NOT return to this poorly maintained hotel. We plan frequent trips for a 60 member motorcycle club, and will cross this hotel off our list of beach destinations.

We visited the hotel restaurant and they double charged my card for breakfast with my family. We have tried to get an answer and refund from the administration and manager with no success for several weeks. We still trying to get our refund or we will go to PROFECO and CONDUSEF. Be careful with your card, no trust anyone.

Room was full of ants and cockroaches. We moved to other rooms with the same result. They let the hotel go down. I will not stay on that hotel ever. I would not recommend it at all. I have stayed in other Best Western and this one does not meet BW Standards at all

Got to the hotel 12:30, they said to come back in an hour and our room would be ready we came back at 2:45 they said give them 20 minutes. So we went for a drink at there bar, my husband went to the men's room and had his iPhone stolen. And we never got into our room till 5pm. I went to Guadalajara and my husband said we had cockroaches in the room. Thankfully we checked out on Sunday. Next time we'll look elsewhere for a room.

It was only one night on the way to our final destination of Las Alamandas. If you would walk in for a room they charge crazy money between 200 and 300 USD for a room. We pre-booked, which made a difference. The first room was like a white box, and no windows opened 'out of safety', even though it was on the first floor... The second room was straight out dirty. Floor dirty, hairs on the bathroom (but many), stains everywhere, nasty smell, etc. Doors that barely locked/closed and the pillows were rolled up towels!!! Please do not even go to the restaurant. We played it safe by ordering a burger; don't. The bun was soggy and had a slab of butter on it, the frozen patty was burnt to death even more, terrible fries, etc. We checked out as early as possible.

Get room 819 which is on the top floor(4th) in the corner with giant ocean views. No elevator, so it's a climb, but worth it. Friendly helpful staff, with only one or two that spoke English. I was the only gringo staying there. It's not in the tourist zone which means fewer local amenities, but more local residential flavor.

Staff was amazing! Very attentive. We arrived earlier than anticipated and they got us into a room right away. The room was perfect, balcony to look over the ocean, roomy, nice bathroom. There were a couple small issues that were fixed immediately. Staff helped with each request we had, went way above and beyond to accommodate us. Pros: Beds comfortable, AC worked well, plenty of outlets, pool and beach access great. Cons: internet was spotty, kept kicking our phones off; we ate on-site at the restaurant, but otherwise you need to take a taxi to get to other restaurants; we used the same pool towels--didn't know the system if we could exchange for new ones. Staff cleaned our room late the second day (which was not a problem) only we took the used towels out again to the pool so they were not in the room to possibly get new ones? Overall, highly recommend. Will be dreaming of this place!

Wonderful stay, a lot of comfort details, good swimming pools, we miss a Jacuzzi, but not big deal. Good beach to ride waves. Good room, a few meters from one of the swimming pool. In general, we will back to BW Luna del Mar next time in Manzanillo.

I originally reviewed this hotel lower because it was lacking in some basic ways but after reading my review, and realizing we were still here, staff addressed many of the items with which we took issue. POSITIVES: Amazing view, beach and pools. It looks like almost all rooms have ocean views and many are ocean front. There is a restaurant on site with limited but reasonable options. The rooms in our suite are large and having A.C. in the bedrooms is a huge plus. The ocean is warm and clear and delightful to swim in. On the negative side I would say they could do a much better job of equipping their kitchenettes. Ours has only one very large pot and skillet to cook with, utensils are very limited, and basic kitchen equipment was missing from our room (coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender). After reading our review a microwave and coffee maker were made available. This climate is very warm and humid and the fan in the main room is stuck on the low setting. Best Western Luna del Mar is by no means a perfect getaway, but easily deserves its 4 stars just with location alone, but to top it off it is very affordable. We will return.

The first room provided to us was nothing like what we asked for or as they advertised. Anyone in the pool on one end could look right into our room - lack of privacy an understatement. The second room did have an ocean view if you crawled into the Jacuzzi tub and looked in one direction. I'm not going to nit-pick all the details we took exception with, but we did appreciate their willingness to relocate us. The free breakfast..we were charged for one day but not the previous day. Some clarification would've been nice, but none offered. One entire bldg. unused and under construction. The entire property really needed some attention...broken this, chipped that..see photos. Good A/C and TV, but who puts loose rocks around a bed?!? ..that was a surprise. Nice pools but many of the chairs were unable to adjust as they were broken too. Overall the staff was pretty accommodating, maintenance guys hustled a lot from what we saw. Location is a bit far from town center, walking not really an option to many sites. Locals nice and friendly.

Very disappointed because we didn't get complementary breakfast as they said when we booked. Food was ok Room was nice,very spacious bathroom, big rooms. Great location, nice swimming pools but, I have to say that staff could be more friendly.

It's right on the beach, although the water is supposed to be a bit dangerous, and has several nice-looking pools. However, it has a few odd/annoying features. The internet is terrible (practically did not work in my room) and for reasons that i still do not understand, I had a giant jacuzzi in the middle of my room. Not in the bathroom. No, in the middle of the room. Very strange. Sound also carries in the hotel, so you better hope you do not have noisy neighbours! (also no elevator, and lots of stairs, but that does not personally bother me)

Real nice Hotel restaurants near it stores 50 feet away from the hotel my family and I planning to go again next year to the same spot you won't regret you can rent jet skis motorcycle four wheelers andas en mi friend don't think a lot real nice Beach

We had a really nice room which overlooked the beach. Please remember that you are in MEXICO so you must make allowances when your not paying top dollar for your accommodation. The room was spotless and equipped with all the basics. Clean sheets and towels were provided ever day. The restaurant was lovely with good quality food and great service. We will return.

If you are looking for a place to lay your head for a week or so this is a perfect location on the beach. It is very clean and well maintained by friendly staff. Its an older hotel but still very comfortable.

A nice, clean older hotel. The rooms were a bit antiquated, with decor that tries to be e Egyptian and Indian at the same time. The restaurant offers great service and a very standard menu with few frills. Unfortunately, this hotel has very little in the way of amenities for the disabled. Too many really steep stairways and no elevators make this place impossible for them. All in all, I would consider staying here again.

We stayed in one of the suites with an spectacular view of the bay. The size of the room is great and the bed was really comfortable. It has a relaxing bathing tub in which you can relax while watching the dawn on the horizon... That is just awesome. The pool was too chlorine for my tasted. The neighborhood offers good options for restaurants and bars and at the same time security and good levels of tranquility. Totally recommendable.

The room bed was horrible talked with the manager for a room change and mentioned it eould have a extra cost on a very rude manner Doesnt have a idea of customer service the hotel is old with poor maintaining

Excellent service, nice rooms, I really enjoyed my stay!! The room has a very nice view. Perfect for family vacation and a romantic date. It's close by the beach as well. Excellent breakfast, and nice staff. Definitely going back on my next trip.

We stayed here in 2013 and had a better room. This time we were on the 3rd floor. The bedroom was mostly taken up with the bed. We could squeeze around the bed, but there was little leeway. The bathroom must have as large as a sheet of plywood - 4x8 with a sink, toilet, and shower. Brushing my teeth I had to set things on the toilet seat since there was no room elsewhere. The internet worked for a few hours on and off and then quit. I called the front desk and was told someone would be right up to fix it. 12 hours later they did - apparently the fix was as easy as resetting the router, but the previous night they either forgot or ignored my call. The staff was friendly. The room and bathroom was so small that my wife and I both got cranky with each other - something we rarely do (been married 40 years this November)

We are staying in the area and end up at BW quite regularly. We have been anticipating the opening of the new beachfront restaurant. It opened yesterday and we discovered that they have priced the entire menu in USD. HUH!. When questioned they told us we could pay with pesos at a 20/1 rate. Just a ripoff. We won't be going there until they reverse this idea.!

Poor is just right. Cheap furniture, uncomfortable beds, plastic door to the bathroom hit the vanity half way. Weird layout of the building with lots of stairs, narrow hallways and no elevator. We stayed there just for 2 nights so it was tolerable. I cannot imagine spending a week or longer at this hotel.

We came to Manzanillo to clean up our family's home after the hurricane. Our home was not habitable so we needed to stay in a hotel nearby. The room was very spacious with a large sitting area. We had requested a refrigerator and coffee pot when making our reservations through the internet and upon checking in were told both would be available and delivered to our room. They both were within a few hours. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. The only drawback were the towels in the bathroom. They were a little dingy and frayed. If we needed to stay in a hotel again in Manzanillo, we would come back here.

The hotel we wanted to stay was full. So I checked good reviews and photos and we decided to stay here. It was nothing like photos of the website. The room we stay was very old and dirty. It doesn't worth to pay. Why do we have to stay the place dirtier and older than my house? I'd rather stay home than stay here.

we had a great stay in this hotel, the price is really fair for what you get, the rooms are large and comfortable. We have some minor differences with the staff but this was the opportunity they took to change everything in to a fabulous stay in this hotel. I'll be definitely coming back soon!

My husband and I decided to do a side trip to Manzanillo and found this Hotel online but when we went to check in, the lady was going to charge us the rack rate until we mentioned the online amount - she checked and gave it to us for the same amount. The room was really nicely done in red and white and had a view of the water and pool. The restaurant had average food but the views were great. We decided to stay another night but had to move rooms. Each time, they showed us a choice of available rooms, however the second room was a disappointment compared to the 1st one. It was oddly located and a little worse for wear. It did have a sliding glass door that opened literally right over the pool but no balcony! We would stay there again and hope to get a room as nice as the first night.

Positive things: Staff in general is very friendly and polite, nice pools, Good A/C; beach view right in front of hotel (although seems a little risky for untrained swimmers) Negative things: 2 first days there was no hot water, internet never worked inside the room I asked to please change room which was not possible as I need to notify until next day and before noon; full breakfast... well is not really true as is actually by coupon and quite limited you need to pay additional for buffete option, also on hotel page statement they have exercise room or gym access which is not true. I could stay 3 additional nights but decided to move into other option we found.

We arrived by motorcycle, the manager permitted us to park it in a secure place. The room was clean and comfortable with two walls of windows looking out on the bay. A breakfast was included, all staff were always friendly and hard at work. The air conditioner worked well, great water pressure in the shower with plenty of hot water.
