From S California & stay at BW hotel all the time for business. Most BW Hotels are clean, good value,etc... The Machida BW lobby is impressive. Our room on the 9thF was old, smelly, & worn out. Not up to BW Standards I'm used to. Had to change rooms from intense smoke smell In room. 6th floor was better.
We were really impressed with BW Rembrandt Hotel in Machida. The rooms were very clean and nicely appointed. Rooms were very quiet. Beds were a tiny bit on the stiff side but yet comfortable enough that we didn't wake up with a stiff/sore back. Heating and A/C worked perfectly and kept us comfortable. Good breakfast buffet. If it is not included in the price of the room, I would think it is worth the price assuming it is 1500 yen or less. Tons of restaurants near by. Ramen, yakitori, tonkatsu, you name it they're around the neighborhood if not at the train station. Of course, there are numerous shops around including a mini grocery store next door (Daiei) and convinience store near by. It was about a 10 minutes walk from the Odakyu Machida station. If arriving by bus, it is across the street from the Machida bus terminal. If you're thinking about staying there to explore Tokyo or Yokohama, just know that it's about a 30-45 minute train ride to Shinjuku and about 30 minutes to Yokohama. We would stay there again if we are in that neighborhood.
The hotel is easy to get too by the Narita airport bus although it takes two hours or so .Nice looking hotel I didn't use any of the restaurants so can't comment.Wanted a no smoking room the one they gave me smelt of smoke so I was given the option of a different room.English tv channel was CNN.bed was comfy ,wifi good.Windows are Sealed for safety reasons .A little out the way for me personally, but machida was a nice area although I'd have preferred to be nearer to the main tourist areas of Tokyo, you may pay a bit more for a hotel room but it would benefit you as your travel costs would be lower & if you have limited time available .Staff on the front desk were helpful the men in particular who could speak good English & were very knowledgeable .thank you for a nice stay
Nice hotel located downtown in Machinda near train station and many great restaurants and shopping opportunities. My favorite spot is MOS Burgers -- always a delight with great Shrimp Burgers and super service. The hotel is large and has a good breakfast offering.
A convenient location hotel because it's near Machida bus station, train and shopping area. Room was clean and suitable for small family. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I had a pleasant stay here and shall come back next time.
my daughters and i recently went to Japan and had the pleasure to stay at the Best Western Rembrandt in Machida. It went beyond our expectations .. the largest room in tokyo , beautiful rooms and very clean . Nice hotel staff , friendly , although not much english spoken, still was able to communicate with staff. We will certainly stay with this hotel again as soon as we travel to Japan again, which is soon , i hope .
Long time customer since late 1998. Recent change from Ellcy to BW Rembrandt has made hotel look bit more modern but rooms have not changed much. Aircon system is old and centralized. I am a smoker and recently all windows have been sealed shut as most are broken without repair or replacement. Rooms have little or no ventilation which makes the air so stale. First time you enter the room you would be shocked of the smell. Even from a smoker it is not acceptable due to lack of ventilation. This hotel would be down on my priority list for reservation. Only good is the location that is close to the train station.
Pros: Location is good if you want to stay in Machida. Really close to two key train stations the Odakyu line which has an express service to Shinjuku and the JR Yokohama line - they're like a 5 min walk away. It's also really close to the shopping malls and restaurants, 2 minutes away. Cons: The room temperature is incredibly hot and uncomfortable at this time of the year. They have set the air con for the entire hotel to 'winter mode' which means you cannot cool the room at all only heat it, and the room is hot enough as it is. I could not sleep most nights properly, and as soon as we woke up in the morning we immediately wanted to get out of the room. When I complained to the front desk they said they couldn't anything as it was winter and that's all they said. There's also no room service, the restaurants in the hotel are average and there's no laundry service. Also given the name of the hotel 'Best Western' I expected more western style hotel but it was very much eastern, no english channels on the tele, staff struggled with speaking and understanding english, food was all eastern style and barely any english communications e.g. welcome book in room was mostly Japanese. If I was to stay in Japan again I wouldn't choose the Best Western unfortunately.
Power went out. Not citywide. Just my room. So in middle of the night I was freezing. Also my last night my flight was at 12am. They wouldn't give me a reduced rate. Made me pay for a full night that I didn't even sleep there. Also think they have bed bugs.
After an Airbnb mishap, and without a phone I schlepped around a fully booked Machida for two hours, carting a suitcase after a long flight in the middle of the night . Not sure if the guys on reception were scared the crazy old lady in front of them would burst into tears when they told me they were fully booked, but they could not have been nicer. Rang a heap of hotels for me till they finally found me a room in Ebina, called me a taxi and I'm just now relaxing into a clean bed after a day it will take a while to forget. Thank you!
I stayed at this hotel twice within the last 2 months. I enjoyed my experience the first time enough to come back again when the other Best Western were sold out but second time was pretty miserable - actually down right hellish. This place just explicitly went on to my crap list. While the staff is very nice and upgraded me to a larger room due to my elite status, the room, actually the entire floor, was insanely hot that it was around 29 degree C according to the thermostat in the room. I tried to adjust the temperature down but hot air keeps coming out. I left the AC unit off and the room stayed around 83-85F. I was literally sweating with just in my shorts - while it was pretty chilly outside. To make the matter worse, the hotel sealed off both windows for safety reason (high floor and not security bar/net outside of the window) so there was no way to open the window to vent or cool down. I called the front desk several times and asked them to fix it but they said they can't because the AC is centralized and they switched to "winter mode" that can only heat but not cool, which is not acceptable explanation. No matter what, there is no need to heat the interior to 29C or 85F. Having to go in and out of the hotel a few times to get some food and other items, I was subjected to dramatic temperature swing between 47F outside and about 85F dry heat inside. Needless to say, I didn't have a good night sleep and woke up with heat exhaustion. Yes!! Heat exhaustion in the middle of winter! I travel frequently and my body is very conditioned to tolerate weather differences and this is the first time I am getting physically sick from the severe discomfort.
Stayed in Best Western Rembrandt for two night during visit to Tokyo. A bit far from Tokyo center but to have such a nice modern clean room it's worthwhile! The staff is excellent always happy to help with anything you ask for. The location is only 10 minutes walk from Machida station and JR Yokohama very convenient for those who want to visit Yokohama during the day and Tokyo during the night. We would recommend this hotel!
This was our third time staying at this hotel (formerly Hotel the Ellcy). Each time, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Yes, the rooms are small, but this is Japan and most places are small compared to those in the U.S. The location is very convenient for shopping, restaurants and the train stations. The public areas are very modern and attractive, and the rooms are clean with all the amenities you would expect, including a small refrigerator which is replenished daily with two bottles of water. Free wi-fi in rooms is also a plus!
Me and my husband have stayed at the hotel for a week. We liked the experience very much. The hotel is very well located, nearby the Machida train station, which connects to JR Yokohama and Odakyu Lines. The rooms are "Tokyo standard", small but comfortable. Room service is great, people are very kind and gentle. Although they don't speak well in english, their efforts are visible when trying to communicate. Prices are fair considering the average in the area.
Before staying here, i had read reviews by others on Trip Advisor. Most had mentioned size of room being small and lack of facilities. During my stay i found to the contrary. My room was more than sufficient for my stay. Double bed with desk, Comfortable sitting chairs with a table, t.v with pay t.v available if required. Fast WiFi or internet via ethernet cable provided in the room. Bathroom with Bath & Shower with all accessories. Room cleaned daily, immaculately. Ample storage for clothes. Humidifier in room, can make you bit dry during the night, however bottled water supplied to contract this. Breakfast at the restaurant was buffet style fresh with a good selection topped up as needed. (motainai) To avoid wastage.Great coffee, even take away cups available, if you want to take an extra one with you. If you want shopping this is the locality for you. Also an abundance of restaurants nearby, access to Mt Takao and hiking trails is only 45mins by train. I walked to the squirrel park and amazing gardens about 5km 1hr, can take a bus from the station opposite the hotel. By walking i managed to visit 4 temples on the way home as well as a great soba shop for a snack. Good way to experience Machida's local hospitality. Staff of the hotel certainly hold, the customer is king philosophy. So helpful and always with a smile. The service rivals Tokyo's top hotels. Anyone wanting to experience a part of Japan that is a little more homely, this is a good place. The staff are only to happy to communicate in English. 5 stars to the staff. Tokyo, Yokohama & Kamakura all accessible from here allbeit bit longer journey. If you celebrate Halloween, Machida loves it. Many establishments make parties. My stay in this part of Japan was enriched by my accommodation choice.
Nice hotel. Modern conveniences. Good location for train access. Not very accommodating to foreign travelers. Breakfast was very local. Rooms were spacious. No TV stations in English, though. I would stay here again, but eyes wide open.
The location is excellent. Couple of blocks from the Machida train station and next to all the shopping and eating places you can think of. The rooms are small, clean and decent - like most business hotels in Japan. The walls, outlets and furnishings look a bit outdated, but not a major issue. Breakfast was great and quite extensive. Staff is helpful and attentive, but, almost nobody knew English (which is not surprising in Japan). They do try their best to answer your questions and help you as much as possible. One night there was a noisy party going on in the adjacent room and the lobby staff couldn't understand my complaint on the phone at all. But, somebody actually came to my room and knocked and then did something about the noisy party. A bit inconvenient, but, could have been more easily handled if I had known Japanese. The biggest disappointment was the lack of wifi - free or paid - anywhere in the hotel. There is wired Internet though and I had to go & buy a wifi router to make sure my US phone worked. Overall, a centrally located hotel and not very expensive either.
