We were very hesitant to stay here at first...after reading all the negative reviews online. But here's the best part, it was just fine and clean & breakfast was okay. They are building a brand new hotel in the back. Which will be very new & modern.
"Terrible smell"
Staff was friendly, but the hotel itself was poorly maintained. The front door said it needed a key card to get in and wasn't even locked at night. Our nonsmoking room smelled like smoke to the point we had to sleep with the windows open and we were on the first floor. The rugs looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years.
"Bradford College Reunion"
Chris was excellent in helping me get a room for the second night after being sold out. A light bulb was out in my room and the nighttime staff was quick to change it. I liked that there was coffee decaf and regular 24/7 in the lobby for every guest.

"Yikes"
We had a terrible stay here. Water damage everywhere, STENCH beyond belief which is poorly masked by cleaning supplies. Stains everywhere. Worried about mold. Wall paper peeling off the walls. Window broken. Bed lumpy. Pillows are small weird squares. Room is in a basement with no elevator access.

"not a clean place"
the amount of noise, dust and dirtiness did not equal what i paid. The floors were carpet and i can still see the dust, definitely around the edges, the walls were VERY stained and dirty!! It was a non smoking room, soon as you walked in the room all you smell is cigarettes covered by air spray.

"I wish I had read the reviews before booking"
The worst hotel I've been in the 30+ YEARS There are 2 hotels in this town - A Hampton and a Best Western. The Hampton was sold out. Stayed in numerous Best Westerns across the country, didn't think twice . I arrived very late due to travel delays (11p) Lobby is very dated, Desk attendant - lazy, Got to my room - yes - like other reviews, in a basement without an elevator. Room - dreary, wallpaper peeling whole room in need of renovation. I was too exhausted to battle with the lazy staff to change room. And now after changing reading reviews, I doubt my experience would be different anywhere on property. When I pulled down the bed cover, there wasn't any sheets, just a quilted mattress cover? Checked the other bed same thing. So a fully made up bed, with a thin blanket that had 3 jobs - it was a quilt, a top sheet and a bottom sheet. I called the front desk and was told that is how Best Western Standards are. That what I was lookin at was not a a mattress cover , but a bottom sheet, and the thin blanket was the top sheet. WTF? I took lots of pictures, comptemplated driving 20 minutes away at midnight for close to $300. So I swiped the blanket from bed #2 to use. I came to this page to write my review to warn others...I wish I has read these reviews first. I also see remarks from management about 'under construction'? I saw some piles of dirt behind the building - no evidence of active construction. Oh and they have the nerve to charge $165 a night!!! This quality is something you'd expect in a $39 motel. Feeling ripped off, disappointed and lost faith in a fairly reputable hotel chain - Best Western. I understand that some of these places are franchises - but shame on Best Western to not ensure quaility standards are not maintained. And judging by the reviews here , it's been going on a long time.

"Unbelievable how this place keeps the Best Western name"
Water damage everywhere. Mold everywhere. Wall paper falling off of the walls from water. Nose snot on the walls. Soaking wet rug. Hard to breath upon entering the building. I cancelled the stay. I was refunded by the desk clerk, then charged again after the fact

"Dirty and old"
Our room was old. Ants in the carpet. We stayed in a dog friendly room and we had to keep cleaning and moving dog dish due to ants. Spoke to desk about ants and having our room cleaned twice and was not done. Wallpaper coming off Walls and ceilings had stains. Maybe was smoke?. Will not recommend
"Disappointing- But has Potential to be Great!!"
The BW brand has always been our go to hotel for motorcycle trips since 2009. We continue to do so even though BW -Harley Davidson relationship has been discontinued. We recently stayed at the BW Merrimack Valley well on a bike trip. Upon arrival found the front lobby neat and clean and the reception very quick efficient and professional. Upon entering the hotel and climbing to the second floor, we were greeted by several large bags of garbage, stacks of pizza boxes, and they dirty laundry roller hamper at the top of the stairs. One of our rooms was clean, and very comfortable. Upon opening the door to the second room, it was very clear that this room had not been serviced, with garbage full, bottles and pop cans visible on the tables, the beds were made in the bathrooms and up in attend to do. The young lady at the front desk did her very best to explain that the condition of the room was as a result of the current lack of staffing. She did manage to find us another room that was clean, comfortable, orderly. Breakfast in the morning was disappointing. K cup coffee, small boxes of cereal, yogurt, and some prepackaged muffins and granola bars. Grab and go is what I think they called it. Certainly not your typical breakfast that regular BW guests have come to expect. Overall, it was disappointing. Even under these trying Covid conditions, it's hard to except the excuses for the conditions. Hopefully this is temporary in the facility can get back to the typical BW standard of operation.

"Just Don't Stop"
Smell, unclean appearance, no elevator to basement rooms. It was horrible. The sheets had little spots of dark something. I suspected bug feces. Never saw a bug, but that did not stop me from itching all night long!

"Go elsewhere"
What a dump of a construction site This must be one of the worst it's not worth the 134 per night fee please don't believe the photos nothing like it run down bedroom door you have to slam to close, bathroom door was damaged from water oh and what's funny they close the curtains so you don't have to look at the construction behind and the windows don't even close. They advertise full breakfast you get a few dry things in the lobby to go. Strongly recommend avoiding this place.
"Clean and quiet"
The bed is comfortable including the pillows and the shower was perfect. All of the staff I encountered were courteous and smiling. This was my first stay at this Best Western, which is located right by a CVS. I will be back.
"Over-priced for low quality."
70's vintage room. Pervasive pet odor in carpet. Clanking, roaring window mounted A/C. Chincy 'grab and go' breakfast. Pool and exercise room closed. Significant traffic noise. Few restaurant options nearby. Give this BW a miss!
"do not stay here"
Worst motel experience ever - dirty room - dark, bad location , rooms not updated in many years- The staff was nice and welcoming, but all else was miserable - Everything looked way outdated, and old. The price was way too high

Extremely dirty hotel. Staff was not helpful. Area did not seem very safe. There were very loud people in the parking lot and in the hotel lobby. The room smelled and the condition of the room was terrible. RUN RUN from this hotel

"Rooms were dirty"
Our room had a used pregnancy test in the bathroom. Smelled of urine and had ants in the beds. We let the front desk know and we were told there was nothing they can do about the room. And that they had no there rooms availible.

"Terrible reservation system"
So I reserved a pet friendly room, my only choice was 2 queen beds which was fine. When we got there to check in they stated we chose the pet friendly room but didn't call to identify we werrle bringing a dog so we were not given a pet friendly room. They were able to move us, but this room only had one queen bed. There was also some things still in the room from the last guest including plastic lids from perfume bottles, and aluminum foil. The breakfast is pretty terrible, states there is breakfast sandwiches, but all they had was dairy products and waffles that had so much sugar they were crunchy. On the website it also states there is a pool, well got there and they stated the pool is still closed due to covid, thanks for the heads up. We had a dog with us, we had to sign a waiver (thats fine) that stated (desk guy said this as well) we had to take her out through D door. Well to get to D door we had to go through a construction zone that was off limits. The price of the hotel reflects the quality of the hotel.
"First and Last Time Guest"
This was my first and last time visiting this hotel. My reservation did not last 24 hours. I arrived at the hotel in the late evening and was told that I was getting a deal on the last two rooms available. I was offered a significant discount for a three night stay. When I entered the building to get to my guest room I took a set of stairs to a lower level floor. There were adults hanging out in the hallway and teens running up and down the hallway. There was a significant amount noise and odor coming from guest rooms into the hallway. We entered our guest room and were greeted by a large white stain on the carpet. We quickly put our belongings down and left the room to gather with relatives in the area. When we returned a few hours later. I noticed more areas of the room with a white powdery substance on the floor. The headboard and electrical sockets were dusty. The wallpaper was bubbling. We tried to turn on the HVAC unit and it did not work. One of the lamps at the head of the bed was missing a light bulb. I was not happy with the room but attempted to stay one night and deal with issues in the morning since it was late. I went to the bathroom and saw what appeared to be a smear of blood on the wall and hair in the shower. The last straw was when I went to the use the toilet and discovered that the toilet had not been flushed and there was human waste with toilet paper inside the toilet bowl. I reported all of this to the hotel staff and they assured me that the room had been clean. They also said we needed to unplug and then plug the HVAC unit back in and hit the reset button to turn it on. I was asked how I was supposed to know that and why it was something that I had to inquire about. I showed the pictures I had taken and they said the white powdery substance was cleaning product. Hotel staff initially refused to let me out of my reservation since I checked in and had “occupied” the room for a few hours. When I pointed out the hotel commitment to keeping guest and employees safe and the alarming contradiction my reservation was finally cancelled and I was refunded all charges held on my card. I checked out of this hotel after 1 am highly disappointed and frustrated. The front desk staff were helpful but made many excuses for what I had shown them in pictures.
"Not a BEst Western"
This place might rate as an Econlodge at best. It is in poor shape. Bed hard, pillows poor, towels small and thin and furniture should be in a second hand store. As a diamond member having stayed in over 150 BW around the world, this place gets my lowest rating!!!
"My stay."
Room was missing a chair where there should be 2. Chair on other table was broken, and light bulb missing from one of the lamps in the room. Room could of been cleaner for a new guest, and more towels and bathroom toilet paper was needed.
"All might noise, no sleep"
My wife and I chose this because of the great location. Unfortunately, It seems to cater to folks who are up all night with loud cars out in the parking lot running all night. So..if you can fall asleep, you will be awaked by a howling dog about 4 am. We were so disappointed. We ended up leaving and going to the Hampton Inn. So much quieter and cleaner. The best western had a nasty smell in the lobby and rooms. The towels are mangy and smell. The first thing we noticed at the Hampton innwas the pludh tpwels and clean scent. We wont go back to this bw.

"Front desk lady rude"
I stayed for a week or two just recently, the front desk lady I believe her name was Tiffany was absolutely rude and degrading. I'd go up their to get coffee or talk to others in the lobby and this employee was always talking awful about other guest. Saying things that should not have been said in front of other guest. I will NEVER stay here again because of her. As well as the young girl at night. Just last night she was hanging out with the other girl from up front Tiffany being rude to other guest making fun of them swearing while there was small children up there. This shouldn't be tolerated. I asked for manager and she said we can't help you. I don't get how this is okay!!

"Don't stay"
The hotel is rundown. It appears that some people are living there long or short term. Small lobby with limited and bland breakfast items. Pet friendly rooms are dingy. Carpet is dirty and smelly. No elevator. Pet friendly rooms are all down stairs. The window overlooks an overgrown center courtyard. Quite unpleasant.

"Do not stay here - pay more and stay at Hampton In"
We booked this hotel as a stop over on a 10 hour drive. The pictures online seem nice enough. Our first concern was seeing guests/residents/people sitting in lawn chairs in the parking lot. But we went to check in. Bad idea. The room we were given was NOTHING like the photos. It was in the basement, the light did not work, the wallpaper was water damaged and stained, and the room smelled strongly or urine. I didn't even look at the beds or bathroom because we walked right out and back to the front desk. They did not give us any trouble about refunding the stay which was appreciated. There is a Hampton Inn across the street which was about $100 more when we called from the parking lot but was more than worth it.

"THE WORST - DO NOT STAY HERE"
Our room smelled so badly and the carpet was wet. there were bugs that I killed; they told me there were no face cloths, promised to bring towels to my room and never did. I called to complain to Best Western and they basically said I had to talk to the local hotel which I did. they did not care.

"Avoid at all costs - Dirty & Not Handicap Accessible"
The lobby and the front desk attendant were very nice. The hotel is not handicap accessible and has no elevator. Even access to the first floor requires the use of stairs. Hallways and rooms smelled and carpet was very old. The wall paper was peeling off and bubbled up in areas and the baseboards were very dusty. People (residents?) in parking lot smoking (cigs & weed) and drinking when we arrived. Beds were clean and so was the bathroom but we just couldn't stay there. Thankfully a call to the Best Western 800# got us moved about 20 minutes up the road to a Best Western Plus in Danvers MA. If staying in this area, book the hotel in Danvers not Haverhill.

"mini vacation"
Having traveled many times for work I have encountered many guest services representatives but none as efficient & knowledgeable as Chris. He was very clear in explaining what I could expect from my visit, even as far as the most convenient place for me to park, along with all the different restaurants in the area. I felt very comfortable with my stay thanks to him.
"Hotel"
The hotel website photos are nothing what the hotel actually looks like. The hotel smells like cigarettes and has a misty smell. Not worth the money!!! We were supposed to stay for 2 night and stayed for one that's how bad the smell of the hotel is!

Excellent customer service everyone I have come in contact with especially Jared and Chris they are who I have dealt with the most and they are nothing short of awesome! The house keepers are friendly there maintenance man Roberto is extremely friendly and never short of a smile! IF people interaction comfortable beds and convienece of stores this is the place to be!

"Don't get stuck on the lower level."
I booked two rooms, one being “pet friendly” for me and 2 dogs. I have always had good luck at BWs but this one… no. I don't know how the upper level rooms were, but they put us on the lower level. The hall was okay but the rooms were not what I expected. Some of the features… The wallpaper was buckled, dirty and dingy. The dirty windows looked out on a pile of rubble and a stalled constuction site (it looks like they were trying to do a major renovation and ran out of money ). The window crank in both rooms were broken. The light by the bed was broken… it literally swung down and hung upside down, and the handle of the Faucet was held on by a rusty bolt, I wiped down some of the surfaces because of finger prints all over the frig and sticky stuff on the dresser. I called the desk and asked it the room was in such bad shape as it was a “pet friendly” room? His response was “pet friendly rooms are special”. However, my friends non-pet room is only marginally better. The good news was that the beds were comfortable, the sheets are clean, no bugs. After 10 hours of driving we put up with it. Would not recommend.

"We had a very good experience"
The front desk staff was very helpful in our situation. Chris went above and beyond for all our needs. He is an asset to the hotel, very attentive in every form. The other staff that I found very helpful was Taylor, Michelle B. Jared and Roberto. This has been a very pleasant stay.

"Best western merrimack valley"
The hotel looks like it was an old Howard Johnsons. It is not of the caliber I have come to expect of Best Western. The room had a closed -up smell, not totally musty but not fresh. The carpeting from the room into the tiled bathroom floor had a huge long pull in it that was left hanging. The shower had a board coming through the ceiling. It was definitely not worth the price.

"I thought I was going to have to sleep in my car"
I was contacted by the property and they rebooked me. They booked me the wrong room and was given 1 small bed for my adult son and myself. The smell of cigarette smoke was choking. We both had coughing and breathing problems throughout the night. The air conditioning unit was so loud we couldn't sleep with it on.we tried to go out on the small balcony but it was so dirty, we couldn't. Josh who was working that night was so kind and found me a roll away bed. I can't thank him enough!

"Famly visiting"
This was knot a good stay but we suffered through it. WILL not make that mistake again. I found a Hampton Inn near buy and will use it the next time I'm there. Never had a room service provided in 5 days, not wash clothes, (had to buy some at Walmart), Sower smells in the room (so Walmart air freshener also), pool closed, restaurant closed for renovations etc.

"motel is totally filthy - beware"
My husband and I stayed at the Haverhill, MA Best Western over Memorial Day Weekend (5/28 - 5/30). This place was filthy, the lobby looks dingy and dirty. The entry door was in need of a complete scrub down. The hallways smelled musty and old. The room was filthy. I have pictures of many problems - holes in the curtains, cobwebs complete with spiders!, patched walls, stained bedspreads, filthy plug ins, inoperable outlet in bathroom, hairdryer looked like it had been on fire. rusty ceiling fixtures in bathroom, mold on door frame, weird plumbing repairs to showerhead, stained bathtub and sink. everything was very worn and out dated. This coupled with some very strange characters hanging around smoking and drinking by the entrance was just over the top. I can't say enough how unsafe and unprotected I felt at this establishment. I contacted the management immediately and asked them to please go and check the condition of the room themselves. I also asked for at least half my money that was wasted on this room. I go the same response as everyone else that the motel is being renovated and COVID had brought that to a stop. It wouldn't take much to clean the room and wash some windows to help pretty the place up. The manager gave me 50.00 back for my trouble (we paid over 300 to stay in this dump!) Traveler's beware, travel a few more miles and stay at a safe place.

"Avoid this place"
Overly worn hotel. No heat in the middle of the night. One towel for 2 guests - as 2 beds suggests. Run down condition. Could smell smoke in hallways. One towel set for 2 of us. Tried to acquire additional towels, etc., but had to wait until next day!

"Don't stay here"
I wouldn't stay at this location again. The room was filthy and run down. The carpet was stained, wall paper along the ceiling was peeling, and the furniture was dated and in poor condition. The bed had a king size fitted sheet on a queen size bed. The bath towels are half size and non absorbent. The to-go breakfast was awful. I probably will never book a Best Western again

"Go somewhere else!"
We stayed here in October 2020 on our way to Maine. We we arrived i knew we had made a mistake in booking here. It is run down and looks nothing like the pictures. The front desk was wearing a mask but non of the guests were. Wearing masks is not enforced. When we got into our room, we seriously considered leaving and cutting our loses. I have never had to do that before. The light in our bathroom did not work. We called the front desk and they did send a maintenance guy to change the light. The shower was leaky. There were stains all over the carpet. The hotel is disgusting. I doubt they were cleaning and sanitizing it to CDC standards. Do not stay here.

"Oct 2020 mixed review"
ok for 3 smaller dogs, quiet at night so dogs did not bark, saw other dogs and heard no barking. Room close to stairs and exit doors. Water hot, but means unlimited hot showers. Due to Covid, breakfast and pool closed but had breakfast to go bags each morning. I give the towels and blanket a 1 of 5 rating- super thin + small. Room came ready with one towel for 4 people. I guess they prefer people to come and request if they want more. Set up with toiletries as corporate standard. Front rooms are older- win screens not fitted, outlet plate cracked, older flooring, ac/heater vent not clean. Room for renovation improvements. Construction going on in back. Average stay with dogs.

"Nothing like Advertized!"
From the minute I walked into this place I was not happy. Theres a tiny lobby with a whiteboard that said "POOL CLOSED". We were supposed to have our room at Noon and got told to come back in 3 hours so they can clean my room. When we did come back we open our door to our room to a dirty plastic fork and a bandaid wrapper on the floor . It just kept getting worse. From there we notice hair on the pillows, and only 1 towel and 1 wash cloth for 4 of us. The gym is in the pool area so we were unable to go to the gym, they offered us, either. I also felt like I had walked I to an old dingy room. If I hadn't already paid and needed the 1 night stay somewhere for the 4th of July ...WE WOULD NOT HAVE STAYED!! VERY DISAPPOINTED

I checked in online and said I needed to check in an hour early and they would not let me in before 3. The H2O was scalding, not good for kids. The remote was broken, no blankets on bed, No overnight cleaning and was not told about it. No clean towels for the next day, I asked for them and never got them. Bags breakfast was terrible.

My apartment house had a fire and I couldn't go back to there for months, so I stayed there and it was a good experience. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. They have a great breakfast with lots of choices.

"Issues with heat and leaky sink"
Friendly and helpful people but the building is suffering from neglect since a new building is under construction. The heater/air conditioner failed so a portable heater had to be put in the room. The sink leaked so badly we had to put towels under itd to try to catch most of the water. This is a very convenient place to stay and we have been staying there for a number of years. We will return when the new building is completed.

"Needs an overhaul"
The staff was nice ... the room was beyond out dated and just straight dirty. There is a sign stating updates are coming but I wont return until all the rooms are gutted and redone. Beds were ok for comfort but because the room was so gross I was uneasy about even sleeping there... if it wasnt so late when we checked in I would have gone elsewhere

Shabby room with broken window and non working telephone. Rude management refused to compensate or switch to a like room on the ground floor that was confirmed upon reserving. I asked about a lower rate and was informed that there was one but because I had made the reservation directly with the hotel they would not accommodate me. On duty manager seemed like he wanted to pick a fight with me by challenging what I said. It was the General manager's day off and they would not let me talk to him. I talked with the corporate office and they tried to get the hotel to compensate me but the aforementioned manager on duty flatly refused. Stay far far away from this place!!

"Very Pleasant Stay"

unspeakable stay, the only reason i stayed was it was late at night and had no other options. The AC didn't work, room & AC smelled like stale urine, hair on the towels, carpet was sticky, bathroom dirty. I will avoid this hotel and possibly the chain in the future.

The place was okay, rooms were pretty basic, staff want too friendly or helpful. I would stay again for a single night stop to reat but would not stay here for multiple nights. They are building a new best western next door and appears they lost interest in the existing hotel. I will say the place was clean, though.

"Parking Needs Improvement"
Only stayed one night for a wedding that I attended. I came back and every parking space was taken. I had to go through the parking area a couple of times before someone had left. I don't if this car that left belonged here as a room renter or that person was visiting. Doesn't matter. Parking should be reserved for people who have rented rooms. One good thing was that hotel staff responded to my complaint that there was a lot of noise going on or argument taking place in the hallway at 2 AM outside my door.

This place smelled so bad. We were first given a room on the bottom floor and it smelled like a musty old basement. We asked for something higher up because our daughter has breathing problems and we knew this would set her asthma off. They kindly changed our room. It wasn't as bad but still awful...I'm sure the rooms were smoked in. We would have just left to find a new place to stay however we had to catch a train to the city for a Red Sox game and didn't get back until after midnight so we reluctantly laid our heads down for a few hours and got out as quickly as we could in the morning. The place was so dirty we wouldn't eat the breakfast. The elevator doesn't work, there were cobwebs, the mirrors were not cleaned, the laminate counters were bubbled and ‘fixed' with caulking, the floors were disgusting. I cannot believe Best Western would endorse their brand here...will make me reconsider another BW. We checked out after only 1 night of 4 we booked and went to the Hampton. Don't waste your money!!

"Smelly and Gross"
This hotel has been nothing but poor quality and poor service. I booked a room as a bridesmaid for a wedding. I deeply regret that decision. First, the hotel did not inform the bride that there was a cutoff date for the room block. So when I called to book, I asked for a room near the bride. They said no problem. I was booked in a room on the complete opposite side of the hotel. Second, upon entering the room, it smelled awful, as if someone had been smoking or burnt something. Not only that, but the wallpaper is peeling off the walls in at least five places. It's absolutely disgusting and so shameful for a wedding party guest. I had booked two nights for the wedding but ended up canceling the second night because this place is certainly not worth the $315 for two nights. Gross. Never again.

"Horrible hotel"
I've stayed at multiple Best Western Hotels, most have been Plus but I needed one near a wedding venue I was attending. I used my points for this room. Apparently using points equals a horrible room. The room was dingy, dark and had a horrible odor. Wallpaper was peeling from the walls. The smell was a musty mix of urine and dirt. I immediately opened the windows and turned off the AC. I took my shoes off and sure did regret it, the carpet was sticky and felt moist. I told the front desk about the smell and was offered a different room. I declined because I was debating leaving. Since I just needed a place to sleep, I decided I could put up with everything. Later in the night, the TV stopped working, front desk said it was because of the rain. It eventually started working again. In the morning, I felt the need to check the filter on the AC, sure enough it had at least 2 inches of dirt/dust. Definitely hadn't been cleaned in months maybe years. This stay at Best Western will likely be my last.

"No Stars"
WHAT A DUMP!!! How are they allowed to maintain the Best Western name??? Smelled musty. No elevator, and when I told the registration clerk that I am a disabled veteran and asked for a ground floor room she shrugged her shoulders and told me it was just one flight of stairs so it wouldn't be too bad. The screen for the window was on the floor, leaning against the wall. The window was broken and I was not able to close it all the way or lock it!!! Unfortunately I didn't notice this until the next morning when I was preparing to leave!!! The bed-frame was broken / a bracket was sticking out that I smacked my shin on! There were cracks in the bathroom ceiling. Stairs and floor are painted the same color and stairwell is poorly lit making it difficult to judge the last few steps when schlepping bags up and down the stairs - especially while also trying to maintain your balance with a cane. Courtyard was in total disrepair, uncut lawns, broken glass, etc.

I have stayed at this location numerous times because the service is Exceptional. Bill the hotel manager does an Amazing job with his staff to give top notch service. Chris that works the front desk is always very helpful and knows the guests by their names and provides great customer service skills. I would recommend this hotel location for anyone traveling in the Merrimack valley! Another huge plus is it located right off 495 north and Hampton beach is only 20 minutes away.

"Just don't"
I want to preface this by saying that every staff member I interacted with at this hotel was extremely pleasant and kind. I wish Best Western would fix this mess . I had limited options and was trying to get as close as possible to my friend's hometown for a memorial service, so this was a trip when I needed last-minute function and very little else. I should have read the reviews for this place more carefully. By the time my friend and I checked in, there was only one (reserved for handicapped guests, but hotel staff told me to take it) parking space left in the whole lot, kind of around a corner and down a hill from the main check-in area. It turned out this spot was close to our room, which was the highlight of the stay. I would not recommend parking in the far reaches of the parking lot if you have to then walk a ways to your room by yourself. It's probably fine, but not very well lit. The real issue was that as soon as we entered the hotel from the rear entrance, we were overwhelmed by a musty, smoky smell, which was also very strong in our room. The carpet felt damp, the bed seemed small, and the vanity was coming away from the bathroom wall. We decided the next morning to cancel our second night, and a very kind woman at the front desk allowed us to do so without charging us. The fact that one night at this Best Western (at least booked last-minute) cost $170 is BONKERS. We paid less on Hotel Tonight to book a room at a pristine La Quinta in Andover for our remaining night. The level of cleanliness at the Best Western was what I would expect from a $60 room. This place is gross. Try hard not to wind up here. Best Western, you hired nice people, but do better.

Booked last minute and I was able to get a room.The staff were very accommodating, the hotel was clean, there were great breakfast choices and the kitchen area was clean. Easy on and off to the highway and ample parking.

"Very mediocre and overpriced for what it is"
Was put in building D - NOT a good looking building (they can at least clean up the countless cigarette butts in front of the door). The first room they put us in had a dirty bathroom floor (def was not swept and mopped) and black dirt in tub. A party with a dog must have been in the room before because it definitely smelled like a dog...I love dogs but don't want to sleep in a room that smells like a dog. Period. Second room was mildly better. For $138- $157 a night, it's a complete rip off. They really need to put some of that money into fixing the bathroom instead of doing a terrible job "painting" over the "marble" cracks. It needs a face lift and soon.

"Enjoyed Our Stay"
The room was very comfortable and the staff was very professional and friendly. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We stayed for 3 days when our home air conditioner died in the midst of extreme heat and were happy to stay in a cool environment.The breakfast was ok and had quite a few choices....bagels, muffins, pastry, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, yogurt etc...The only thing I would say is that the layout is a little maze like because it is an older facility and we had to do a lot of walking but it was no big deal. For the price, we would stay again.

"Mediocre, disappointing Best Western"
Severely outdated facility overdue for a renovation. Countertop in bathroom was bubbling and peeling. Painted heavy caulking ring around top edge of bathroom sink. Pool water looked murky. Fitness room was closed for renovations. Hallway carpets were dingy, as was room wallpaper. In general, things were not really dirty, but not terribly cleaning. Facade in need of paint. View from room window overlooked an area with debris and lacking landscaping. Left room at 10 am and returned at 5 pm and room had not been cleaned, although the housekeeper we found in the hallway quickly made things right. Best Western has recently been one of my go to brands. Now, not so sure.

"Horrible I do NOT reccomend. "
Ok so I want to start this by saying Best Western please do not respond to this with your generic BS response that you've been giving everyone, all it will do it further piss me off. This is not a queen bed!!! We measured ok. We were traveling for business and the job took longer then expected so we obviously grabbed a hotel. I reserved a double room with 2 queen beds as we had 3 adults and a child. My daughter who is sitting on the bed is the smallest adult so we used her as to size reference of the beds. We went to the front desk to address the issue of them being full beds and were turned away and told " All our beds here are queen beds ". Um no it's not your ripping people off !!! I'm 6'1 and had to sit up to try to sleep. The hotel was hot, loud and smelly. Young children unattended in hallways late at night playing and tablets. Hotel was over run with very loud wild teenagers. This is not a play for business people or families. We tried to make the best out of a bad situation and went to enjoy the pool/ jacuzzi. We arrived to the pool area around 8pm and that was a dud as well. The jacuzzi was ice cold . Staff stated that the water had just been changed and it takes a few hours to heat. Huh??? Why would you change the water at 8pm rendering it useless when you close it at 10pm and could just do it then. Smh. At first the pool area was quiet but withing 10 minutes here came the huge mob if rowdy teens and its become a very uncomfortable situation for families to the point I just removed my grandson and went back to out room. Theres more I could add but I think this gets the point across. I will say that the overnight clerk at the front desk was amazing, very friendly, happy and helpful. ( I was in the lobby getting a coffee because obviously I wasnt getting sleep here) . Wish I had read all these reviews first. Not worth the $177 they charged me for the night. Please dont say your sorry because your not, dont say your fixing it because your not. I'm reading reviews here that date way back , same problems , different year!!! And definitely do not say please try us again in the future because ABSOLUTELY NEVER WILL I STEP FOOT IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN. Its a rip off we were given beds that fit toddlers and charged for 2 queens.

"Beds were definitely NOT queen. Not a quiet place at all !!!"
So we booked a double room with 2 queen beds. That is definitely NOT what we got. When we went to the desk to inquire and explain we had reservations for queen beds we were told " no sorry they are definitely queen size beds, all our beds are queen size." . So we go to the store to buy a measuring tape and measuring the bed its definitely full size. So they are charging for queen beds and you end up with a bed you cant sleep in. I'm 6'1 so I had to attempt to sleep sitting up . Over all the staff was great except for not fixing the bed size issue which was out biggest issue. I didn't like that small children were roaming the building or sitting outside thier rooms alone in the hall late at night making noise, playing on thier tablets ect . We tried to make the best of the situation and figured we would go relax in the jacuzzi and pool, nope that was a dud as well. We arrived to the jacuzzi / pool around 8pm and the jacuzzi was ice cold. Staff stated the water was just changed and it takes a few hours for the water to reheat. Huh ??? If you close the jacuzzi at 10pm then why would you change the water and render it useless at 8pm, wait till 10pm when its not being used anymore. Then 5 mins later the room where the pool/ jacuzzi was was overtaken by a huge crowd of teenagers being super loud making noise and it became a very uncomfortable environment for families and children so we removed our grandson from the area and decided to just call it a night and go back to the room shower and try to get some sleep in the toddler beds they passed off as queens. The room door was jamming so you needed to manhandle it to open it close it slamming the door real hard . I took my shower all was well until I went to blow dry my hair . The blow dryer was poorly attached and the entire component flew off the wall smashing to the floor. At this point I did my best to reattached it to the wall, laughed in disbelief and attempted to get sleep ( which out of 3 adults and 1 child the child is the only one who got a comfortable nights sleep ) . Morning did not come fast enough and we couldnt have been happier to check out. I do not reccomend this establishment to anyone traveling for work or families looking for peace and quiet. You will not get that here. It seemed more geared towards the younger crowd. Vans arriving dropping off or picking up large groups of teens/ early 20s. I will say over all the establishment did appear clean so I want to give a kudos to housekeeping!!

"Not a best western structure"
Breakfast was good. Kids ran up and down the hallway in the evening as I tried sleeping. There were weeds around the building. Locating the ice machine and the breakfast room was difficult to find and the staff must do a better job telling where it is.

"Awful smell"
6/21/19. The hotel is outdated, our room smelt of old cigarettes, pool room was extremely hot, though the hot tub was cold. We had black mold in fan duct in the bathroom. Awful. Never staying there again.

"Awful"
If I could give this hotel a 0 or negative rating, I would, and to put it bluntly, this place is a dump. I traveled solo here with my dogs and chose the hotel because it was supposedly pet friendly. I was charged a pet fee which is fine because it usually means that the rooms are cleaner and nicer. That was NOT the case with this hotel. The room was FILTHY- beyond disgusting. The room had a strong carpet powder smell. There were noticeable stains on the bed and the floors. There was hair on the sheets and all over the bathroom. Most of all, this place is absolutely not pet friendly. Our room was on the first floor which you have to use stairs to access. I have two senior dogs and had to carry both dogs up and down the stairs. There is no green area for the dogs. I did find an area that represented a green area in what you might see in a prison movie. The doors leading out this “green space” allowed no re-entry. There were cigarette butts all over the grounds, along with other trash that had not been picked up. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here.

"Charming hotel"
Stopped over as part of a two day drive. The entrance is a bit tricky to find - then in at the CVS and immediately turn right. Ok, I was more than a bit tired... Room was quite large (had a room in the D building/conference center) with two queen beds. Bathroom was well equipped. Beds were less comfortable than I would have liked - a tad trampoline-ish but despite being next to 295 the room was quite quiet.

"Great stay in Haverhill."
Nice place. Pool felt like we were on vacation. Great little breakfast bar. Location was convenient off 495 and near downtown. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice to have the convenience of shopping and restaurants in the neighborhood. We usually stay at Best Westerns because the owners seem to care for their guests just a little more than other places. The Merrimack Valley did just that. They provided a comfortable place for our stay in Haverhill.

"Travel stop"
We had stayed at this Best Western last year while travelling home from a south vacation Rooms were clean and fresh, staff that we had interaction with were very nice and professional. We just stayed the one night however we look for this place on our return trip as it is close to the highway, easy to get too and reasonably priced. The continental breakfast was great!

"Great Location"
We stayed one night to dodge the recent snowstorm... the hotel is great... close to decent restaurants and very close to I-495. The breakfast is very good. Rooms are nice and spacious. Free WiFi. Front desk folks were very helpful.

"A getaway"
It was a spur of the moment plan. I was greeted my 2 very professional employees in the lobby, that were very pleasant and assisted me with my check in. My check in was followed up with a phone call to my room asking how everything was and if I needed anything. They let me know they were available 24 hrs, if I needed anything.

"Good hotel, good location"
We have stayed here several times on our way to Florida. We travel with pets and have found this a good pet-friendly hotel, as well as being close to the highway. Lots of opportunities for fuelling up and food options close by.

"Do not use the pool."
Needed to stop late night during travel from NH to NY. The pool and pool area were filthy. Your eyes burned just standing near the pool. Place was below average. Wouldn't stop again. It was close to McDonald's for coffee in the morning.

The Staff are really friendly, but the hotel inside looks more like from the 80‘s. The pool water was a little bit to cold. Breakfast was ok. The hotel is way to pricy compare how the room looks. On the weekends it's really loud

"Traveling experience"
We have stayed at this motel several times in the past and our whole out of state family stayed here when my daughter was married in Aug of 2017. Friendly people, no problems but if you have issues with chlorine, stay away from the pool. VERY STRONG in smell outside of pool area.

"Best Best Western Hotel on the East Coast"
We have stayed at many hotels on the east coast, from Maine to Florida and this hotel ranks our favourite for the price. The ladies at the front desk were the friendliest. They were beyond friendly-taking an interest in our lives. The dining room where the hot breakfast was served was luxurious. It was like walking into a fine dining room. The quality of the food was shocking. Everything was in hot chafing dishes and was not typical of other Best Western Hotels. The bacon was thick-not the thin precooked bacon that other hotels offer. The potatoes tasted like they were home cooked. Everything on the buffet was high quality. We could have dined all morning. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable with a welcome letter on the bed, written by the hotel manager. The rubber ducky on the bathtub was so cute and when we mentioned this to the gal on the front desk, she said go ahead and take it with you (we didn't-we left it for you). We definitely will be staying here next year on our way to Florida!

"Run Forest Run"
Very dated rooms, up keep not very good inside or outside, there was a musty smell especially on the second floor. The bedding was yellowed and carpeting worn, the walls were stained in spots and in need of both a good cleaning and fresh paint. The complimentary breakfast area was not well kept and had flies buzzing around the trash (which was always just about ready to overflow Menu items were not presented well and were not very appetizing- I stayed here for two weeks because everyone else was booked and after the second day I had seen enough in the breakfast area to not go back the rest of the time there. After the first night I ran to Walmart and bought a cheap sleeping bag and slept on that on top of the bed sheets. The pool water was cloudy and smelled very strongly of chemicals, the bathroom toilet seat was loose and you had to be careful when sitting on it and the bathroom floor was sticky when you walked on it ! Parking is terrible, some nights there was no room and I was told to park next door at the 24 hour CVS parking lot. My best advise is to avoid this hotel if at all possible.

Things are perfect, only wish you could get a discounted rate after 3 nights stay. I do believe that using reward points has changed. I think you could get a discounted room for 12,000 points. Also, should be able to stay three nights and receive a free night without using points.

"Avoid this hotel"
The room we stayed in hadn't been updated in at least 20 years. It was dark and dingy .. we didn't want to walk on the carpet without shoes. There was extensive mold on the bathroom ceiling (see photo). The hotel was completely booked due to a gas leak in a nearby town, so it's possible there are newer, nicer rooms and they don't normally put guests in this room. I hope that's the case, but we will never stay here again.

"Price was right and room was clean"
As the title says it met my two desirables. We booked this room from "that" discount site so quite often you don't get a hotels best and brightest room. It had what we needed and the included breakfast worked just fine.

"Manager was a jerk, went down the block"
After a long drive I was looking for a place to get a good night sleep, then resume my trek in the morning. I found Best Western in Haverhill via the internet while traveling (not driving) and head there. The night manager quoted a price $20 above the rate I found on the internet and would not budge "as he only had two rooms left". I had noticed another motel while exiting I-495 and headed over there. That rival place provided with a better room at a lower price then offered by Best Western Haverhill.

"Never again"
We stayed here 1 night to visit with friends. This entire place needs to be redone. It is supposed to be non-smoking but there was a cigarette butt in the elevator. Our first room reeked of smoke so badly we immediately asked to move. Our second room was a little better but I kept my shoes on rather than walk on the old carpet. The pool was cloudy, when my son accidentally dropped his glasses in the water, we couldn't see them. The hot tub was down for hours. Breakfast was adequate but the flow was choppy and the room was claustrophobic, especially after attendant locked the door prior to the time they were set to stop serving. The location is excellent, right off the highway and close to stores and restaurants. The housekeeping staff we encountered was friendly and kind, I cannot say the same for the front desk. After check-in when I requested a room change I was asked “did you touch anything?” At check out another guest wanted to talk to the clerk, we were then immediately rushed out of the checkout process, not asked how our stay was, and tossed a two granola bars from behind the counter “for the ride.” I completed the Best Western initiated survey after our unsatisfactory stay, as did our friends. We each got the same boilerplate apology response with no mention of upcoming renovations. This place does not feel family friendly. As a single parent I did not feel comfortable staying here with my children. My14 yr old summed up it up appropriately when he said “Mom, this place is sketchy”.

"Don't stay here!"
The pool was slimy, had chunks of hair floating around in it even though it had so much chlorine in it to make your eyes water. There was mold on the sides - gross! Our bathroom had a chunk of hair in the shower drain and was dirty. One of our rooms smelled of smoke so strongly it made I clothes sink afterward. The "residents" were up all night slamming doors and be loud enough to keep us awake. Between the lack of cleanliness, the low life "residents" and noise we will never stay here again.

"old and dirty"
This appears to be an outdated motel structure in need of repair. The room we were given needed renovation and deep cleaning. When I turned on the AC, the room filled with an acrid odor which I took to be burning dust/electrical parts and something else. To their credit, the front desk staff was quick to move us to another room when I complained. While apparently more recently updated, the AC was loud and the whole room felt ‘musty'. The ceiling hard large brown streaks that I hoped were merely signs of a leaky old building. The bathroom at first glance seemed recently updated, but the ceiling fan had mold and dust piling up on it. The marble-tiled floor looked nice until I noticed some dark mottling on it. I rubbed that with the floor mat and it appeared to be black mold that easily rubbed of onto the mat. Bleach would go a long way here…. The pool was disgustingly milky and there is obvious mold around the lip and railings. When I asked the front desk folks, who were otherwise overall pleasant and accommodating, if they had seen the condition of the pool and water, they replied “Oh, that's handle by the maintenance guy.” I suspect they're used to complaints. The upholstered chairs in the room had many stains. I don't understand how any conscientious hospitality professional could allow guests to see this. I tend to judge a hotel by asking myself “would I let my mother stay here? Or my grandmother?” All I can say is: “Run, Gamma! Run !!” In fairness to the BW brand, we recently stayed at another BW elsewhere in the USA and were totally pleased, but the owners of this place should be ashamed of themselves.

"Calling the 1990's"
This place is old, but clean. You can tell that it is need of remodeling. The staff that I encountered were very nice. The breakfast area was spacious and there was a great variety of items available including soy milk. I tried to use the pool, but it did not open until 8 AM. There is a CVS that is conveniently located near the hotel.

"The staff is wonderful"
Chose this hotel as in between 2 family events in local towns. The price was right for what we wanted. The staff was super helpful, gave us directions to local places and helped us print tickets on the free-to-use computer and printer. Breakfast was served in the am, a decent spread of dry cereals, make your own waffle (they even had toppings!), eggs, muffins, bagels, sausage and bacon. The room was clean enough, sheets were very white, bed was comfy and room included both a micro and fridge. Good selection of tv channels. As others have said, there is a movie theater next door, and a CVS, gas station and plaza across the street. Very built up area, so it seemed lively. Sad downfall- the pool. We were looking forward to the pool and hot tub after a long day. It was open until 10pm, and we got there about 9:15. The cement around the pool was still soaked, even though there was only 1 adult couple in the hot tub. However, the grossest part was the pool itself. The water was so thick with chlorine that you couldn't see your feet once you stepped in. I'm not kidding. There seemed to be a plethora of hair in and around the pool as well. Like seriously as if a dog show had been held there. I couldn't imagine how it was so. The pool had multiple long strands floating on the top of it too. We somehow made our way across it, but by then we were so grossed out that we walked right back to the stairs and left. It was so sad, since the rest of the hotel was ok. I'm hoping that maybe somehow the daytime pool check was missed? I've been in pools that have constant monitoring of chemical levels, and this one was certainly off. In fact, once my daughter took off her suit, she had many red splotches on her belly that did fade over the next day, but were obviously from the pool. Other than the pool, it was decent for the price and we would consider it again. I just am still blown away by that pool.

"Clean and convenient"
Room was very clean and very centrally located. The purpose of our trip was to go to Hampton Beach which was only 30 minutes away...much cheaper than staying in Hampton ???? A good variety of food for breakfast. Would definitely come back.

"Best Western properites are inconsistent and this one was bland"
I view this brand as feisty, independent, wish properties had more local flavor and were designed to accommodate folks with limited mobility. When they are good, they are good. This one had no outlet for CPAP machine is a medical issue and I had to ask for an extension cord for mine. Long walk to steps to breakfast room: what, no elevator? Room over air-conditioned, waste of energy and $; halls tropically hot and humid. Tired generic decor, peeling wallpaper. Mattress was meh, not so comfortable. Service was friendly, breakfast ample and good with an open faced egg/cheese on English muffin option, tasty. Best reason to stay: 3 feet off route 495, and room was clean. Pool looked inviting but I was on deadline and could not take advantage of it.

hotel has lot of repair issues, however most of the staff is very nice, some never seem to be totally accommodating to requests.The location is perfect, with a market and restaurants and CVS near by.It seems that it is hit or miss as far as the room. Our last stay was so much better.

"Vacation weekend"
Very nice hotel and very easy to get to. Rooms are nice and beds are very comfortable. Small breakfast, but good. The hot tub is very-very hot, to hot to enjoy. Pool is nice temperature. A lot of restaurants and shops in the area.

"Below average service"
I recently stayed 3 nights at this hotel as part of a business trip. My boss arranged for the room through his Air Miles program. Having stayed in literally more than a thousand rooms in my 30+ year business career this place would rank on the lower end of average. The place does look dated that is true, it seems they have made some attempts to modernize but done on the cheap. The bathroom counter seems to be a faux marble top but really is just wood, and when wood gets wet it expands, as seen in another review's pictures. That part did not bother me as much as the towels, each day the cleaning staff would remove more and more towels. I started with 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 face clothes and when I left I only had 1 face cloth and 2 bath towels. That I can say, I have never experienced in any other hotel. The breakfast was typical of many others with egg and meat selection choices, varying from day to day. Vegans may be challenged to get enough to eat though. The bed was comfortable enough and the internet worked well. Upon checkout the front desk staff tried to charge me again for the room that was already paid for through Air Miles, I showed the certificated and then after they made a few calls I was able to leave, not the smoothest checkout. I may not recommend this hotel, unless price was the only concern.

"Needs to be gutted and redone"
Traveling with a group otherwise would not have stayed much past check in. Rooms had stale odor, pillows were awful, housekeeping did not provide enough towels, wallpaper was very old and peeling off the walls, common areas very dirty. Overall feel of the hotel was dirty and discomforting.

" Bait and switch"
The pictures posted look nice. The ratings look good. Upon arrival the front of the building looks really nice and the lobby looks nice. Reception is nice. Check in goes smoothly. She nicely tells us she's putting us in one the really nice rooms in the back building which has been renovated and is a lot nicer than the building the reception is in. Just drive around to the back parking lot for the back building and enter door D. We drive around, like lambs to the slaughter. We find a dark parking lot by a movie theatre and a dank dark building with no windows. There's an empty whiskey bottle in the parking space next to our car. We think there's been some kind of mistake. My husband goes to investigate. I worry about his safety and mine. He comes back says he found door D. I go with him and we encounter a man in his undershirt smoking near door D. We open door D to find a hallway that is filthy. At one end around a corner it sounds like a party is going on. Thankfully our room is in the other direction. The elevator is as filthy as the hallway. Our room is of course not much better. I have posted pictures! I called them to complain and they asked if I wanted to leave. It's going on 10PM. I want to sleep. Then we discover the toilet won't flush and is threatening to over flow. I call the front desk and they say they'll send up a plunger. 20 minutes later a person arrives with a dirty plunger in a dirty bucket. She says “here's the plunger you requested”. She sits it down in the hallway and walks off! This place looks like a detention center from inside and the outside but I think a detention center is cleaner and has more windows and a safer parking lot! If they say just drive around to the back, either leave or ask for a room in the front building.

"Just Can't Do It Again"
This is our second year in a row I selected this hotel. These stays are used just to get a early start to our vacation on coastal Maine. First stay I would consider nearly average and thought I'd give it a 2nd chance this year. Front desk was quick and helpful. Now parking was ridiculous. First off, not nearly enough handicap parking anywhere at all. We used what they called the “A” side door. Minimal parking on the left side but did have 1 handicap space. My big concern was the truck that took up 3 plus spaces to my left. Didn't want my car backed into. Not the way I'd want to start a vacation. Hallways were filled with muggy humid hot air from the pool. Bedroom was very dark and dingy with one wall light not functioning at all and only one wash cloth was left for us to use. Nearly break your back trying to sit on very low toilet seat. We did have 4 half size pillows to use. Really? Come on. You should be doing better than that. We brought family members with use and are we were embarrassed for them to see and experience our choice and to experience the same complaints in their room. Needless to say, we will be visiting the only other hotel in town. For the price of a Big Mac more than what I paid at BW's price for the night, it would be worth paying for 2 Big Macs more to stay somewhere else. Sorry but I suggest staying somewhere else. "On the low end of average"
I had a bad vibe about this place from the start. Dodgy characters lounging around midday, dark hot halls, dark room, and a vague look of neglect. My actual experience proved to be a bit better than the first impression. Everything was functional in the room and the service I received from the front desk was flawless and friendly. Still, I don't think I'd stay here again; there's a Hampton Inn across the street and I'd try that the next time.

Returning from work in Amherst, N.H.,we found this hard-to-find hotel. Second floor room (300,s) great slanted ceiling. Good WiFi, as you see. Tough traffic intersection, but be patient. Our last BW was the Royal Oak in Dorchester UK, so we are fans.

We were a group of more than 60 people and they treated us very well. The breakfast is great, delicious and varied. I would stay again. It has a Mall in front, a gas station and two pharmacies that was very useful for everyone.

"Horribly noisy, no sleep"
Doors slamming all through the night. Out off towels both for room and frigid pool pool not unlocked two mornings in a row, and no evidence of water circulation. Coffee machine not in service in breakfast area, and customer broke keurig in lobby, which was not immediately replaced. Worst Best Western my wife & I ever stayed in. The hotel needs an update-room was very small and reeked of cigarettes. We wanted to use the pool in the evening but noticed the water was not being circulated/filtered; the desk clerk said she knows nothing about that as she was new. Noticed that some sketchy people were staying there and dope was being smoked out in view on the hotel side. The AC in the wall kept going on and off all night making it difficult to sleep. Grounds keeping appeared non existent. On he plus side, breakfast was very good and the front desk personnel were very pleasant.

This hotel was conveniently located near Haverhill where we had a wedding. The beds were very comfortable, the breakfast complete, and the location ideal. There was gas and a grocery store across the street. The highway was easy access. The pool looked nice, although we didn't get a chance to swim. I would stay here again.

Got a fairly decent rate and the location was convenient. Most things were fine for my stay ... except for a broken window (with a very noisy expressway out the back) and very tired breakfast items. Neighborhood was sketchy (and I could have used a little better advice from the front desk).

"Good hotel for the price. "
We stayed here for one night recently and would stay again if we are in the area again. The checkin was pleasant and quick. The room while it could use some cosmetic fixes was perfectly fine and checked off all the boxes of what we would need. Beds were comfortable. Pool area was overrun by teenage boys at the time so didn't go in there. The breakfast was included and well worth it. Waffles, sausage, eggs, toast,bagels and pretty much all standard offerings. Checkout was a breeze.

"Please put some $$ into maintaining the property"
The hotel room was very much in need of refurbishment. The wallpaper was peeling, the ceiling tiles chipped and dislodged. The bathroom counter was all chipped and peeling. The room had a mildew, pet odor to it. The door also rattled when people walked by. The hotel also allows pets, beware if you have allergies.

"Nice people, not so nice facility"
Despite having a great staff, I'm surprised this property is still in the Best Western franchise, as the building is so run down. Peeling paint and noisy hallways do not a pleasant stay make. The breakfast was great and the people serving went out of their way to make us happy. I can't speak to the pool or exercise room, as we used neither.

"Gave us the wrong room"
The first floor is actually the basement. What this breaks down to is several hallways that reek of cigarette and marijuana. Now if I were still in college, this wouldn't have bothered me as much. However, we were traveling with a six year old. First we went on a long walk down several hallways— okay. Then we get to our room, the key doesn't work and a dog starts barking. After re-checking our paper key envelope that read “153” and a quick phone call, we arrived at our correct room. So far it is decent. The sheets are clean. However, it does not have a balcony/patio as requested. I really hope they actually change the sheets when we leave because I was just in the Bahamas, got burnt and now I'm peeling like a chameleon. As I have been in my room approximately 35 minutes, this review may be subject to change.

"Staff Terrific. Hotel is average"
This hotel is very large and sprawled out. We found it hard to get oriented. The pool and hot tub are open late and the area was clean. The hotel was full. The breakfast area was small for the number of people and it got pretty chaotic. Things ran out and were not replaced in a tmely manner. I think the hotel has expanded without expanding the common areas. We were tired when we arrived form NY. The desk clerk was outstanding, patient and informative. The check out clerk was also good. We were recognised as Reward members which was nice. The location is good for us as we return to Maine so we will probably stay here again.

"Excellent choice for a budget hotel"
Top-notch staff. Rooms exactly as pictured online with a sofa in the king bed room. Sheets are basic quality but there are plenty of pillows and a duvet cover. They offered several egg and meat choices at breakfast along with pancakes, cereals, fruit and yogurt. We'd definitely stay here again.

"OK for some, just not me."
Good: Clean Linens, Hot Breakfast, Nice TV, Hot Tub and nice pool. Nice Staff. Good Price. Bad: Bubbling Wall Paper, Mismatched Furniture, Fruit Flies in Coffee Station in Lobby and Hot Breakfast Area. Dirty Kitchen area (Fridge needs deep Cleaning) Rooms need deep cleaning. Broken Light fixture in room. Poorly patched wallpaper in room, Hard to get luggage cart to car due to steps. May be difficult for some handicapped guests. "We stayed one night and cancelled the remaining nights "
We were going to stay 4 nights but only stayed one. We found another hotel nearby. While it was fairly clean as for the bathroom and carpet, the wall paper in our room was bubbling in numerous places and it was quite dank. There is likely an issue with excess moisture in the room-maybe due to the air Conditioner use over time and not enough dehumidification. The decor was dark and the room a bit out dated. For the price, we were able to stay in another location with a cleaner sharper feel and well kept. When owners take pride in their business, they will be even more successful with positive ratings which will improve their return on investment. We were happy with the front office ladies. They were very sweet even with our concerns.

"Suite could be awesome with some easy changes"
I loved this suite but it has some major problems. The rugs and upholstered furniture needed cleaning. With very little attention this could be wonderful. I'd love to stay again if some small changes were made.

"Don't stay here"
Tv did not work was blamed on the rain even though it was sunny out. Power went out and no back up lights in the halls only light sticks taped to the walls no hot water while the power was off. Would not suggest anyone stay here

"Fair and Friendly"
This was an older Best Western. However, it was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was also fairly priced. If you are looking for a moderately priced hotel with easy access to Haverhill and surrounding areas, this is a good choice. I stayed there with my aging parent and it was easy for her to get around. The one amenity we really used was the washer and dryer. It was inexpensive to wash and dry our clothes and there was no wait to do so.

"Great staff "
The rooms were clean and the staff was very accommodating to our large family. Breakfast was ok (rather boring and lacking flavor) the pancake maker was broken for the 2days were there . Despite these few issues the pool was excellent and guest services were top of the line. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a reasonable room and great service.

"i had no issues here"
this is my second time here. actually looks a bit better. check in went quick. the layout can be a challenge for some and if way in the back its a hike to the front. we were more towards the front this time. the room was nice size and clean. can see wallpaper getting ready to peel up in spots. nothing major. was a big screen tv. a fair amount of stations.everyone seemed nice. they did service all rooms in my section both days. both days we stayed. hotel was pretty much full. heard a little hallway noise. no commotions, no kids running around. was pretty much quiet. grounds were clean. pool area was nice size. pool water seemed a little chilly. hot tub was nice. just steps in it are not even. have a grip on the railing. last step a doosey. NOTE# the traffic there at rush hour is heavy. if you come up 495 north. at end of ramp your suppose to go left, at rush hour. stay right. at light make a right into walgreens. make a u turn a go straight across light and hotel right there on the left.instead of getting aggravated in traffic.theres a few stores in area. 3 drugs stores and a convince store right by the hotel. within a 1/2 hour to the box stores and restaurants. as for prices we got a exceptional rate on a pkg. deal on an internet site. they have a CDL rate if you ask and have one.basically do your homework. overall was a nice stay. would stay there again.

Cost 144.77 with tax, should have been 44.00. Tiny room, like a motel on side of road! Dirty and super old!! No elevator!! Room was on third floor!! If traveling south go ten more miles and have your pick of lots of better places to stay!!! Barb H.

"Great hotel Great employees"

"Worst hotel"
So we stayed here for a soccer tournament and paid way to much money for the quality of this hotel. Rooms were musty and moldy and dirty and outdated! The smell of marijuana was over whelming on the first floor. Don't waste your money

"Musty rooms and outdated property"
Take my advice and stay elsewhere. While the rooms are spacious, they smell of mold and mildew. This is just a rundown property. Breakfast was definitely not up to par with limited seating area. Don't bother stopping.

"Musty smell, damp feel"
As soon as I walked into the hall I could barely breathe for the musty smell. Our room was worse and it felt damp on the floor and bedding. I stuck a car air freshener in the a.c. vents hoping that would help and it did a little. Definitely won't stay here again if I can help it.

"A good hotel"
This hotel has improved since my last stay there 2 years ago, understand it is under new management so I guess that is the difference. It is a good value for the money but could use some improvements, rooms need to be freshened up and updated. The breakfast room should be relocated, stairs involved to get there, no elevator available, laundry need to be available on every floor. Overall though ok hotel.

"Barnstormers Concert"
Hotel appeared somewhat dated. Service was very good and breakfast was very good. Distance to venue in Groveland was at times difficult due to construction and town fair. Enjoyed a side trip to other areas during our stet.

Poor customer service and friendliness. All staff needs more training including management. All team members need to be trained on policy of this franchise to be able to promote, follow, and enforce them the same way every time and every one gives the same way every time.

good rate, older decor could use an update..breakfast did not have a waffle machine like other BW's we have stayed at..was given a coupon for staying at best western before which was a plus..front desk people were very helpful about routes to and from destination..and for churches in the local area

Will not recommend - not clean - broken toilet with no help from hotel staff. Housekeeping quite poor room not cleaned fully. Billed for a free night with no response when i left a message to clear it up.

"This hotel has wonderful staff."
We were not excited about the overall appearance of this hotel, it is way overdue for a cosmetic overhaul! However, the staff were fantastic and the location was great too. We also enjoyed our continental breakfast; it was more than we had expected. I would recommend this if you are looking for value.

"Our second time"
This is our second time visiting this hotel in two years. It was the price and location that brought us here the first time and the amenities and staff gave us reason to come back the second time. The hotel decor is dated but it is due to have a renovation I am told. Breakfast is tasty and good choices, Internet works very well. Very close to things families like to do such as visit Canobie Lake Park, go to Hampton Beach or even take a trip into Boston. There is even a decent strip mall across the street.

"Poor room but good location"
Room is outdated...breakfast is average...beds are hard.....pillows are small...mold in bathroom...but location is good and staff are decent. Fine to just sleep and have breakfast and leave hotel for the day

"welfare motel"
There seemed to be more welfare clients than travellers staying at the hotel. They filled the tiny breakfast room, so it was difficult to find a place to sit. They lounged at the motel entrances smoking. The clerk who checked me out was clueless and was unable to apply the discount I had received on email. There was a large courtyard, overgrown with weeds, where I became trapped because none of the many doors to it could be entered from the outside.

Our courtyard does have a sign on each door stating that it is not an exit and the door will lock behind you, to prevent guests from going outside to the courtyard. Overall quality of breakfast foods was poor. Landscaping had a bit to be desired for the price of the rooms. Breakfast area was very tight for space. Although the rooms were ok, I feel that the price was a bit steep for what the hotel offered.

"Great rooms"
Our bus tour spent one night here. The layout of the hotel is confusing at first but can be navigated after a bit of practice. Rooms were large with comfy beds, fresh sheets and soft towels. Breakfast was usual eggs, breads, cereals served with attentive staff member.
"nice location but hotel is in poor shape"
traveling up north and chose this hotel because of convenience and I wasn't willing to pay $250 per night because of it's the middle of summer. I chose something that I thought would be nice for the kids: indoor pool and free breakfast. as soon as I arrived my heart sank... the hotel look like a motel and that wasn't the look I was going for.. needless to say, I already prepaid for my 4 nights, so I was stuck. the front desk staff were nice, free breakfast was good, but owner should really upgrade and update this hotel...

"Been here multiple times"
This hotel is located right across from Market Basket which is very convenient and it's not to far from Salisbury and Hampton Beach. It's not the fanciest but it's definitely worth what you pay. All staff we encountered were very friendly, the breakfast was very good and the kids enjoyed the hot tub and pool. We had an issue with noisy neighbors and were promptly given a new (and better) room without issue!

"It was ok"
I stayed here one night on business. I was not impressed. When you pay 150 for a night, you expect more than you can find, or at least better done, than the $90 place. They did have a pool and hot tub, however I wasn't able to engage due to evening conference and it was closed when I got back (normal, most close by 10). But the set up for ice is a ways away, the vending area's are all over with different things in different places, the bed was hard (some may like it very firm) I'm not one. The customer service at the desk was very good, they were nice, friendly, and even got me in a bit early. I was out late for conference and slept in, woken to the maid trying to come in at 855am. It wasn't like I was there a few days and may need service. There were goods, loved the size of the room, the couch and desk with the king bed was nice and the fridge and coffee in room, along with 2 waters was great, and the location off the highway is also a plus. Overall, just not worth the cost at the place.

"Overnight comfortable stay "
We did a stop over on our road trip. The room was so comfortable with a refrigerator and great TV channels including TCM. They have free wifi. We got a rollaway bed for our kid. The bathroom is clean and good shower. There is plenty of parking. Be ready to climb stairs with your luggage. Try to get a Lower floor. There is breakfast in the morning. Eggs, bacon and pancakes. The dinning area is a little small and smelly but you can take the food upstairs.

"August in Haverhill"
Very nice hotel, location is outside of Boston but that is what we wanted. It is located next to the Hightway but by the river away from highway and noise. Room nice and large, lady at front desk very nice and helpful. Would stay here again.

"Good facilities "

"Inexpensive, good for a one nighter"
I was given this hotel to stay one night by a friend who resides nearby. Upon arriving it was apparent that the property is in the seedier part of town. The building requires maintenance, updating, and cleaning. Check-in was uneventful and the agent was congenial. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, bathroom very clean. The room needed updated decorating. It was just old. Not dirty. There is a pool of which I didn't use but was being used by many. The hotel provides a free breakfast which is the usual: cereal, scrambled eggs, bread, muffins, juice, honey, bagels, etc. The food was good, fresh, and plentiful. There are about 10 tables to sit so be early for breakfast. A previous reviewer mentioned drug dealing in the parking lot. I'm a retired Police Officer and see these kind of things but saw nothing here. The rate, $108.00, was cheap and it suited me for one night. I think I'd pass the next time and probably pay a little more for a nicer hotel.

"Haverhill July stay"
Stayed at this hotel before and it was a nice experience both times. The pool was fairly large for a hotel and I enjoyed the swim. Staff extremely helpful. Close to Portsmouth, NH (we went there to visit friends), but about a third of the hotel prices there.

"Drug Dealing Best Western"
This Best Western has drug dealers and users, sadly and in plain view, in the front parking lot. Wretched! I will say the Front Desk, Maintenance, Chamber Wait, and Breakfast Staff are wonderful. Furthermore (and ironically), the mattresses are very good. Stay somewhere else in the Merrimac-Haverhill, MA area.

"Last time we stay here."
This is the second and last time we will stay here. Last year we said we wouldn't be back but late scheduling limited other options. The exterior appearance should tell potential customers of what to expect. Grounds were not kept up, grass needed mowing, bushes needed trimming, weeds all over garden beds and rain gutters either falling off side of building or lacking altogether.

"Needs updating"
Service is great but the hotel is aging fast unfortunately. Rooms are outdated, internet was not fast enough to stream a movie and the mattress was way too hard. On the positive side, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

"Not bad but"
Great location, the hotel is right off the highway. The staff was extremely helpful, nice and friendly but hotel needs update. The mattress was very uncomfortable, the carpet has stain and smell, towels look old.

"great value dunno why people complained"
We had no problems checking in and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Great pool and location near pharmacies, restaurants and some shopping and gas stations.room was clean , bed a bit soft but it was ok. lots of great tv channels and quiet room. Breakfast was very good. No problems at all with hotel. Would recommend to people and would stay again.

"Peeling Ceiling Paint Should Be Investigated Immediately"
We were assigned room 159 for a 1 night stay in late June. There is peeling paint on the ceiling (picture attached). Researching the building, I found that it was originally a Howard Johnson's that opened in approximately 1966. (Asbestos was a common building material until the 1970's when it was banned as a carcinogenic.) I urge management to do an immediate and thorough professional inspection of this peeling paint. Other than that "minor" problem, we enjoyed the good soundproofing from the freeway, the larger size mini-fridge, the pancake machine at breakfast, and the welcome candy bar at check-in. The system was down at the front desk so clerk politely excused herself to do check in and check out in the adjoining back room. Property needs updating as furnishings are older and decor was uninspiring. Room was dark and the two-lighbulb light had 2 different hues of light bulbs. Smokers were huddled outside the side entrance door facing the parking lot & cinema to avoid the no-smoking fine indoors...but the odors were nonetheless pervasive. Would definitely stay elsewhere next time.

"Comfortable stay"
A quiet, comfortable place to stay. No traffic noises. The room was clean and spacious. A nice sitting area made it feel like a suite. Desk clerk was pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed a good breakfast. Parking is a little ways off around the building since there is an extended stay section out back.

"One night stay"

"It smells bad..but good internet"
The good first, probably the best internet I've ever had at a hotel and the bed was good. Breakfast was ok..but other than that it smelled horribly. Walking through the halls...it was almost too much to handle. It smelled like a conglomeration of cigarette smoke and mold just dancing around waiting to choke you to death. It wasn't pleasant.

Thank you for your response. I am pleased to see you had great internet service during your stay. However, I am very sorry about the smell. We are a 100% non-smoking property and try to discourage guests with a $200.00 fee, but some just don't abide. Trust me, we do charge as soon as we find the culprits and on many instances have kicked guests out. Please do not hesitate to dial 0 to speak to the operator about anyone diobaying hotel rules in the future.
"Security and other Issues"
No sense of security because Key card exterior door frequently propped open by patron, no handicapped access to breakfast room, pool freezing, air conditioner noisy and front desk personnel too defensive in responses to communicate with about issues.

"Excellent"
Stayed one night at the end of vacation in order to fly out of Logan the next morning. The hotel was easy to find. The front desk clerk on arrival was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, although the room way out of the way and a bit difficult to find. There were overhead signs, but not easily noticed. Once we saw the signs it was easy to find. Good selection.

"Yuck!"
I had to stay here for one night due to losing my room at another hotel. Otherwise, I would have left right after I walked in. First, the room smelled awful! I don't know if they didn't change the filter in the air conditioner or what. But it smelled like mold or mildew or something else unclean. Second, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls in several places. Third, I don't know what the vanity/sink was made of (probably some kind of vinyl or veneer) but it was bubbled up and peeling. The tub was stained and chipped. There were stains on the painted surfaces. And the towels were small, thin, and cheap. The shower had bad pressure and wouldn't get hot enough. The whole room felt unclean and yucky. I wore my flip flops the whole time I was there. The WORST part of the room was that it was unsecured. The part of the lock that the bar is SUPPOSED to latch to WAS MISSING!!! and the window, which is on the ground level was unlocked! (Probably because someone was trying to get some kind of fresh air in there). I know I should have left that room, but they were booked solid and we had no place else to go. We didn't stay for breakfast. I was afraid to. But I will tell you, this place is huge and confusing. We tried to find the lobby from our room and ended up wandering around like we were in a Stephen King book. We finally had to ask someone how to find the lobby because the arrows on the wall indicating the direction to the lobby suddenly stopped. On our way back from the lobby we encountered other "wanderers" and helped them out. I know this place got some good reviews, and some not so good reviews. I must have been put in the worst room they had to offer because it was AWFUL!

"Had A Good Experience"
This was my second time staying here and overall it was a very good value. Check in was seamless with KELLY, who was quite friendly and professional. There was a problem with my initial room so she put me upstairs in the front of the hotel and I was very pleased with it's size, location and overall appearance. It even had a small deck in the back which was sunny and warm in the early evening. Breakfast is very tasty and the beds are quite comfortable. Overall I would recommend this hotel for the value and location.

"Enjoyed our stay"
We always stay here on our trips to the Boston area. The rooms are clean, the rates are reasonable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. This is our go-to hotel in which to stay while visiting family.

"Unsatisfactory experience"
We had booked a block of rooms for a wedding. When we arrived, the rooms were scattered around the facility rather than in the same wing. When we asked why, we were told that the hotel was busy. This was despite our booking months in advance. Also, the room we initially were assigned had not been cleaned after the last occupant. We arrived in late afternoon so I don't see any excuse for this. In general, the hotel was not in good repair and was dingy.

"Clean comfortable room"
Pleasantly surprised. Rooms were comfortable. I love white comforts because you know the sheets and bedding are clean. Our third floor rooms had balconies, so we had fresh air. Remotes didn't work in 2 if the rooms, but we survived. And unfortunately had to go to desk each day for clean towels because towels were taken by housecleaning but never replaced.

"Very accommodating"
I mistakenly booked the hotel for the wrong night using Orbitz and it was a non-refundable reservation. The hotel clerk was extremely accommodating and helped me fix the issue. Orbitz was taking forever and she had extreme patience and was extremely kind. I really, really appreciated what she did for me and would stay there again because of it.

"Clean and courteous"
The room was clean and the staff was professional and courteous. We stopped after a long day of travelling and this hotel was close to the highway and was reasonable for the area. The amenities, such as the pool and breakfast was a bonus for us.

"Great Stay and Outstanding Breakfast Service"
The young lady working the breakfast area was in a class by herself. I have never seen anyone in a comparable position so dedicated to the cleanliness and stocking of the breakfast area. The options for breakfast were great. Area was well maintained, comfortable and good lighting. TV wasn't loud as is so often the case in these type of areas. Seating and table arrangements very comfortable.

"if you stay for long periods of time"
Watch your checking account they over charged me what should have been 1253.56 for 12 days ended up costing me 1680.91 over drafted my checking account. they would charge and it would stay pending then they didnt put it through I did it a couple times as I paid for 5 days then a few days at a time. at the end when they charged me the last was still in pending went from 483.00 to 1680.91 which online showed me 1253.56 trying to to get this settled

"Best breakfast"
Great service, pool, work out facility,and the best full breakfast around included in the price. A must for the seasoned or newby traveler alike. I would stay at a Best Western given the choice for my travel needs.

"Excellent hotel,good location, good price"
In fact,the title said it all. The hotel is nice and have all the facilities one needs (Microwave,multilingual staff,premium bedding,premium TV channels refrigerator). Large airy rooms,indoor pool,fitting room and a very good breakfast (hot/cold). All close to the highway. Recommended

"Good place to stay"
Stayed here on our way from Pennsylvania to Bar Harbor. Have stayed in other Best Westerns and have usually been satisfied. This was the case here. It was a little past the half way point of our trip. A pet friendly hotel is a must for us. The staff was very professional and helpful. The breakfast was above average and there was a sufficient choice of items from which to select.
"Long stay"
I stayed here for 10 days visiting family. The hotel is more like a motel really,no lounge or bar areas so it's straight to your room. The decor is quite dated,mid 80's style but the room we had was adequate especially at the rate offered. Breakfast was slightly odd for those coming from UK - ok but very much utilitarian with paper plates and plastic knives and forks. In summary, I would stay again as beds were comfortable and rooms at back are quiet but do not expect luxury - good value,quite basic facilities are what you will get.

Luckily, even though we do not have a bar we are situated within walking distance to one, as well as, other shops like: grocery store, 24 hr. cvs and even a movie theater. These close amenities make our location quite appealing to those staying more than one night. We hope to see you again next time you are here to visit family.
"Stay anywhere else"
There was food in the frig from the last people who stayed there. Candy paper on the floor that was not from us.. Never changed the sheets in the 3 days we were there. The shampoo that was in the room was half used and left there. The bath tub did not drain properly and the water dripped all night and the bathmat was black and the tub had mold underneath and the first time we stepped in to shower black bugs ran out from under the mat.

"Great area, lots to see"
Never stayed here before and was pleasantly surprised with the shopping area and places to walk and enjoy the season. Able to visit with family in the area and see some of the country side. Easy access to major highways. I would definitely visit this area again to see more of what the states around have in store.

"Clean Room"
I stayed here with a bus tour group Memorial Day weekend 2016. My room was clean with microwave and fridge. The area is great. Across the road is a shopping center with Marshalls, Burlington, CVS, a supermarket and a liquor store.

"Kinda creepy..."
We were stuck. Couldn't find a place to stay at Hampton Beach, NH due to a seafood festival we didn't know about. Wound up driving west on I-495 to Haverhill, MA before we got a room at this place. It's very dated and the last remodel was like a botched botox job. Nothing about this place felt right. We got about 4 hours sleep and got out of there. Folks "hanging around" in the lobby could be gang members in central casting. The long, damp maze of corridors to our room could be a "B" movie set. The made-over counter in the lavatory was de-laminating and cracking... cracks so wide that small critters could live in there. Carpet was unfit to walk on with bare feet. Bed was OK... but a good nights sleep was not in the cards.

"a ok stay at best western"
the best western Merrimack valley in Haverhill Massachusetts was a nice visit- the staff was friendly but some of them were not dressed properly in my opinion- the breakfast was good but getting to the breakfast area was terrible- not handicap accessible- no elevator- the breakfast was hot and the food was good but needed a bigger area for more people, we had to go to our room to eat and get a seat

"Cockroaches in Haverhill, MA Best Western Hotel!!!"
I will NEVER stay at this property again. It's infested with cockroaches and is in need of a major overhaul of all its rooms. Gross!! The sink countertop was warped and cracking. They must have used 2 tubes of caulking around the wash basin to try and fill in the cracks. There were cockroaches on the floor, ceiling and on our luggage. Totally grossed out and pray to God that we didn't bring them home with us.

"Hotel needs upgrades!"
in dire need of upgrading interior rooms, lobby, etc., doors do not properly close with and have huge gaps around them, rooms are dingy. No hot water or tea available throughout the day, only coffee. Long hair found in sheets and on floor and half full water jugs with broken seal found on tray with ice bucket.

"Best Western, Best Deal"
Overall the hotel was clean, services provided were satisfactory and I felt confident that I got the best value/deal in the area! For a room with two queen beds, AC, a good size bathroom and closet, I paid under $200 for a Saturday night booking- for downtown Haverhill, that was pretty good!

"Not the best, not the worst"
We live in Florida, but had to make a quick trip to New England for a funeral. We booked the Best Western due to location. We were in the back building next to on ramp for 495. Could not ask for a more convenient location. I had to run into Boston to pick up family from Logan a couple of times. Being right on 495 made this really easy. The hallways of the hotel smelled a little musty, probably from the indoor pool. There seemed to be ongoing issues with the elevator, although we never experienced any problems. In the hotel's defense, they had an elevator repairman out there for the first two days of our stay. The room itself was fine. The bed slept wonderfully and it was very convenient to have a refrigerator in there. The staff was very kind and helpful to us while we were there. If we had a need for a hotel in this area, we would stay here again.

"Disappointed patron"
I have visited this motel for on going 8 yrs, and suddenly there was new staff, and my price went up by 20 or more dollars. When I arrived in spite of telling them I was arriving late and even called to tell them I was 45 minutes out, my single single was stifling hot, and smelly. This trip I only spent 1 night, I was so disappointed that I decided I will never return to Haverhill Mass motel, although it is the closest to my grandchildren. I would rather pay the extra cash to stay on the beach then to return there again and yes I told the young girl at the desk with the curling dirty fake fingernails.

"A Good Stay"
Enjoyed it here. We were given a nice quiet room upstairs as we had requested. Good facilities & a nice swimming pool. Very pleasant staff. Good breakfast. I would recommend without hesitation. Immediately opposite all sorts of shops including a large Market Place where we sorted out our supper.

Booked room was in newly renovated portion of hotel.. Room had balcony, comfortable bed, new furniture and very clean bathroom. Stayed for 6 days and hotel was quiet. Across the street is a plaza with Market Basket, restaurant. Hotel is conveniently located next to Route 495,

"Take extra money"
The hotel charged us twice for the room. When we found out about this we were in Maryland and consequently out of funds to buy gas or a hotel room. The hotel would not help us for either. We had to stay in the car overnight. The next day we continued driving to NC after the debit card company restored our funds.

"old and tired"
At least part of this hotel is old and tired and does not meet the Best Western standard that I've become accustomed to. A serious upgrade or a serious drop in price is required to match up the value here. I will not stay here again for the price I paid. I have stayed at other Best Western's in the US that have far exceeded the value for dollar spent than this place. Having said that I have no issues with the staff here, they met all my expectations.

"Find another hotel"
If not for the fact I had a nonrefundable reservation I would have kept on driving. The hotel had trash in flower beds and parking lot. Halls and room had musty smell and dust everywhere. I must say the bed was comfy and no noise to be heard. The pancake machine was broken. The hotel staff seemed like they did not want to be bothered with my concerns.

"Has everything but"
Has everything a traveler expects but the hotel is fairly old and the rooms we were in definitely showed it. The staff were excellent and the location was great to be able to get to local attractions such as Canobie Lake or Hampton Beach. Internet and breakfast also met expectations for a BW hotel.

"Great value!"
Just needed an overnight stay on the way to Bangor. Older hotel, no elevator and Breakfast downstairs from where we were. That being said it was a good price at $124.00 and the room was small but very clean with frig and microwave plus a safe. Had trouble finding our room but Robert (front desk) guided us and couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. Trouble with TV and George was there in 2 minutes just a glitch with channel. Again very nice and helpful. Nice indoor pool and jacuzzi plus small gym although we didn't have a chance to use it. Great location right off of 95 and there was mall across the street with grocery, liquor store and restuarants. Gave it 4 stars because of employees nice bed and the cleanliness and price.

"Very Nice Restful Sleep!"
Driving from the State of Maine, we decided to stop for the night at Haverhill, Ma.,Best Western. It was late at night and tired, we checked in. The hotel was easy to find by GPS, the receptionist was very helpful and nice during check-in. We had the room on the first floor. The A/C was quiet enough and the room was very clean, the beds were very comfortable. We really appreciated the pleasant quietness in the room. We slept very well and comfortably very rested by the next morning, ready to continue our journey towards home in Ct. Thanks!

"In Town for a family party"
The room was nice and clean , the beds comfortable . The hot breakfast was a good start to the day . It was confusing the way the halls and room numbers were directing you to go also to go to the breakfast room.

"It's a place to sleep"
Feel bad for the 2 young people working at the desk when we checked in, but, we waited in a line to the door for 45 minutes to check in because the computer/ keying system was not working properly. The young man and woman were calm and friendly but did not seem to have any higher management support that they needed. The room was extremely hot and air conditioning worked just minimally. Room stayed hot and stuffy all night. The Bathroom was not very clean....multple hairs in the tub and on the floor.

Good value for money. The facility and room were clean and well maintained and the appearance and helpfulness of the staff was excellent. Location is convenient but not near a lot of other facilities. I would definitely use this location again.

"Home away from home"
Very convenient hotel with all the extras you need. Staff is very helpful. Could use updated mattresses but otherwise the rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast is included and offers all that you might want. The pool is great and there is easy access to local convenience stores, grocery stores and more.

"Outdated facility but staff is helpful"
If you need a place to stay for a night and not looking for luxury, this is a good hotel. There is a pool but other services are limited. We missed the breakfast offering but received a good recommendation from the maintenance staff. Appears to be a compilation of several buildings so the layout is a bit confusing. Ask the clerk for directions to your room before roaming around the entire complex.

"Run Down"
From checking in to leaving I observed a staff of folks that were completely inexperienced and inadequate to be working in the positions that there at. The hotel that was more like a maze to get around. I originally requested a handicap room, I called the hotel prior to arriving and was told that they would place one on hold for me, when I arrived there was not handicap room on hold so I had to stay in a room that was available for that night. The next day I went to the desk and that staff representative took 30 minutes to see if he could get me a room and finally I got one, I was told by the desk clerk that he would have someone move my items to the handicap room and that never happened, and I had to do it myself. I never got any maid service for three of the day's that I stayed and I had to find and ask the head maid to have someone change my dirty towels and empty my barrels.. I observed that the hotel indoor pool has no ventilation, Its like a sauna in there and the floor an fans are so dirty they haven't been cleaned in some time. The halls are a musty smell and there's no place that easy to find, the hotel is set up as a maze. I stayed in several Best Westerns and this by far was the worst.
"Nice visit "
In our group was three adults and a 3 year old. We had a nice visit here. Our room was clean and inviting. We asked for and received more toiletries. Also had more towels delivered. We used the pool. The hot tub was too hot for us. We did get the continental breakfast. That was full of options. Make your own pancakes. Omelets and ham slices. All kinds of breads and muffins. Yogurts and fruit salad. Cereals and milks. We were happy with our room and the breakfast.

"Nice place to stay"
Although dated (looks like it was an old HoJo), this BW was very clean and had the amenities we were looking for on vacation. Far enough to be reasonable in price, but not far enough from our destinations, Salem and Gloucester. What set this place apart was the staff...have to give high marks to Robert, Mari and Jess at the front desk, and Jose in maintenance. These folks were great and made the trip a breeze! Loved the breakfast every morning; clean dining area and fresh, cold and hot foods. Our 6 year old loved the pool, and my wife, the hot tub! Our stay here was great and we would definitely use the BW here again!
"Outdated"
The place is very outdated and the tv is missing half the channels listed. Internet is poor at best. The front desk staff was very sloppy dressed. The pool had area had no towels and when asked they gave us shower floor towels.
"Very Satisfied"
Close to shopping, restaurants, drug stores and easy access to highway. King rooms are on main level near pool and ours had a couch which is great when you just want to put your feet up and read. Good breakfast with lots of options.

"One week stay-inexpensive, clean, convenient!"
We stayed for a week to visit friends and to see Boston. The location is perfect! Everything you need is very close. CVS next door. Restaurants and grocery very close! Facilities are clean and well maintained. We loved the pool/hot tub, the breakfast bar was more than adequate, and coin-op laundry was great! The staff was very helpful and friendly!

"Great Staff!! Awesome Service!!"
We have been to 5 star hotels and found the service to be equal if not better here at Merrimack. We stayed for 3 nights and our housekeeper Nidia was just fantastic! We had an issue and needed maintenance, Jose was super, he went above and beyond to fix the issue. We came with friends and we both enjoyed the pool and hot tub. A great way to end a day of sight seeing.

"Review of Best Western Merrimack Valley,Haverhill"
Wanted to get away for a few days and most places I tried were booked. That was my lucky day. I never stayed at a Best Western before and I was more than pleasantly surprised. The facility was clean. the room was very clean. the staff was so nice and very helpful whenever I needed anything.
"Services above and beyond"
All of the staff--Jared, Bill and George went out of their way to provide excellent service even though it was very busy at the time of check-in. George carried in our bags and Bill and Jared provided tips for our stay. What ever we needed was provided promptly and courteously. Taylor assisted us in the check-out process by providing us with extra supplies. The Free Breakfast was beyond the usual continental breakfast that most hotels offer, My travel companion and I are both senior citizens who had been traveling for several weeks. No other place provided such service as we received at this hotel.

"I can't believe Best Western allows their brand to be associated with this dump."
I've stayed at Best Western hotels all over the United States. I usually like them for their cleanliness, consistency and value. I honestly can't believe that Best Western is allowing this dump to be associated with their brand. I've never encountered a Best Western that caused me literally check the mattresses for bed bugs and the corners for cockroaches. My room was smelly, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, you could feel the bedsprings through the mattress, the rugs were dirty, the windows were stuck open and the maintenance guy had to come force them to close, the furniture was broken down and gross...the list goes on and on. If this has popped up as a recommendation for you, move on quickly to the next recommendation. If someone has booked you here for business, call them and tell them you need an alternate hotel.

"Never stay here again."
Where do I begin. Since retired, wife and I have traveled quite a bit staying at least 25 nights away from home at Best Western hotels. Last two stays, thought I was booking stays thru Best Western website but was tricked into booing thru Expedia. Result, cost me much mot than expected. First night paid over $100 and then second night over $188 both for substandard hotels. I'm outraged and call to Best Western directly received no satisfaction. Will certainly look into other chains before booking again.

"Stay at Best Western Merrimack Valley, Haverhill, MA"
Stayed 1 night. Layout of hotel odd. We were a distance from our car. We did not want to go out for dinner so I ordered takeout and picked it up. I would recommend the hotel tell you of places to have dinner food delivered. Need more then 1 washer and 1 dryer.

"The hotel was just off the highway."
After checking in we found our room and it was clean but dated. We have stayed at Best Western before and been very happy. However, after a long day on the road, we checked in and went across the street to the 99 restaurant for supper. We were both tired and just wanted to crawl into bed and get an early night. however, at 1:30 am there was a drunken guest banging on his door which he had been locked out of by his girlfriend. we called the front desk and they said don't worry it is only a drunken guest. They eventually came up and around 3:30 am the noise quieted down. In the morning when we checked out, we saw glass all over the hall carpet and the fire extinguisher had been used to pound on the door and sat on the floor outside this drunks room. I complained to a "very nice" lady at the front desk in the morning and told her what had happened. She appeared shocked and quickly reduced our bill by $30 and gave us an additional 5000 points towards our rewards program. Very satisfied with that outcome.

"Good hotel"
Good # indoor pool and hot tub was great # Breakfast was nice. # checkout was quick. # location was nice. Shopping center is bang opposite. Lot of good restaurants nearby. # Rooms were good size # good security. All doors need room key to open # close to freeways Not so good but not really bad # person on early morning shift was not that friendly....was trying to act smart. # wifi kept dropping # big hotel so had to walk a lot from registration desk to room, room to ice machine, room to pool etc

Stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights while attending a family function in the Haverhill area. Convenient to major roadways, and easy access to town ,restaurants & stores. Good breakfast served each morning, the staff is very friendly & courteous. Nice rooms, yes could be brightened up & updated. Pet friendly hotel so if you have allergies ask for a room away from the pet allowed room area. Nice pool ,exercise room. Front desk staff greets you with a friendly smile.

This was a very good stay, clean and neat. Staff welcoming and helpful. Many places to dine nearby and easy to find. Only one hour from our cruise to Star Island. We forgot about finding out about breakfast... but we enjoyed the break.

"3rd floor LARGE rooms!"
Good friendly service with a good breakfast, big pool (chilly), nice hot tub, 90 degrees in the pool area. It was confusing getting from the third building to the pool. Make sure to follow the signs. We had a two queen bed suite. The room was very large and pretty clean. Beds were somewhat firm. The building is old and has a musty smell. It couldn't be smelled in the room we stayed in. It was too pricey though, buy prices were comparable with the area.

Spent the night 6/11/16. Room was spotless - so nice to see the light colored spreads on the beds. Bathroom was very clean. A breakfast was included with the room and the choices were abundant. Would recommend this location to everyone.

"Nice Place in Haverhill"
Nice hotel. Huge rooms. Great breakfast. Excellent pool and fitness center. Very convenient location to highway, CVS, restaurants, and gas. Property is a bit old and could use some refurbishing, but overall a great value in a great location.

"Excellent"
Really impress, This will be my new Fav hotel to stay. The Breakfast is ok, I loved it, and they are always putting fresh food and taking care of everything. Once I enter the room I like it. It didn't stick like others hotel, nice deco, comfortable bed, bathroom, loved the balcony on the second floor. And what I liked most of all is that the hotel was/is clean. The price was just a bit high but it was because of the holiday. But not bad at all for the price. 100% in all aspect.

"More like Worst Western"
Stayed here for a week because my employer books the cheapest place they can find. Although it wouldn't be bad for a night or two I wouldn't recommend it for a long term stay. The Good- The internet is pretty good, at least in my room. They were able to accommodate an early check in. The Bad- The temperature control knob to my refrigerator was broken off. There was no way to tell what the actual temperature was set to. This resulted in slushy beer and a frozen solid rotisserie chicken. No elevator so you have to drag your bags up and down the stairs. The beds aren't very comfortable and the pillows are horrible. The rooms and the hotel REALY need updating. The whole place resembles a trip back to the 70s. The Ugly- The doors leading into the rooms are extremely hard to close, which means you basically have to slam it. And if you have to slam yours, everyone else has to slam theirs. The rooms are by no means soundproof. Day and night the hallway is full of the sound of slamming doors. Given the choice (which I wasn't), I wouldn't stay here again.

"Wanted a clean, economical place. This fell short."
Smelly room with spotty wi-fi. It wasn't dirty, but the odor was gross. Found the staff to be pleasant and polite. Breakfast was so-so. Feel the overall stay was overpriced by about $25. Wi-fi is spotty.

"Internet was sketchy"
the internet was sketchy. It worked the evening that I checked in but not the next morning. I travel as an engineer so internet is crucial for me. I was disappointed in that part of service. The check in was quick and the lady was polite.

"Great place to stay!"
We've stayed at this hotel before and we found it great in the past and again were pleased with it. It is so easy to get off the 495 and back on. Close to lots of restaurants and shops. This time one of the staff went out of her way to get us a room closer to the front of the hotel making it easier for me to access the entrance. I only wish I had taken her name to give her recognition here. She was wonderful! The room was clean and quiet. There were bottles of water in the room! Thanks! We were also given a little bag with water and snacks. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine. We will certainly stay here again when passing through.

Good location for tired travelers. Just off the main road. Many restaurants near by. Can walk to McDonald's or Chinese. Also CVS and Grocery store within walking distance. Only minor flaw is you leave your window open you can hear some noise from highway.

Hotel will need some remodeling, rooms are clean but old furniture, bed is comfortable. Even if the hotel is near a highway and main road, our room was quiet and peacefull. There is a good variety of item for breakfast and the breakfast area is nice and clean

"They had everything we needed"
The Best Western in Merrimack Valley was nice and quiet, I haven't stayed there in many years. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, shopping center, gas station, right next to a CVS but our room was still very quiet. The hotel is not fancy but very clean and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower was awesome, wanted to stay in there for hours! It was close to my family as we had traveled to Haverhill for a funeral for my father. We met Nidia a few times in the hall and she took care of our room when we needed it, very nice lady!

"Very nice stay"
We found the hotel acceptable, very quiet and comfy though. Very close to the shopping center, restaurants, gas stations the highway and banks. We also noticed an off odor when we walked in from the street but not too unbearable, does need some attention though. Our room was neat but we did notice the furniture needed to be a bit updated as nothing seemed to match or arranged in order to utilize optimum space. The staff was very friendly and helpful! And a big thank you to Nidia for taking care of us as we needed :-)

"Awesome night"
My husband and I loved our stay. We stayed in one of their suites and it was very beautiful. The room was clean and gorgeous. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, from the moment we entered until the time we left. We look forward to one day returning. The surrounding area was very nice also. Their were plenty of stores, restaurants and entertainment. It was right off the highway.

"Very pleased with the Merrimack BW"
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Everyone was very accommodating from the front lobby desk check in process up to our check out two nights later. I would highly recommend this hotel. The pool area was very well kept. The hot tub was also very refreshing. I also found that it was very quiet. One thing I did like was the presence of security guards. That added a level of feeling safe in the hotel.

"A great place to stay"
I stay in this hotel when I am in the area (twice a year). I always use a coupon and never had a problem. Nice room and breakfast, terrific staff. Convenient to most business in the northern tier around Boston as well as southern New Hampshire.

"Good room for kids"
This was a good stopping point with our two kids. Breakfast and wifi were good. The desk clerk enrolled us in the rewards program when they heard we'd be staying in a BW hotel twice more in the next year. Corridors a bit dated but everything worked. We would definitely use this hotel again.

"Excellent Stay"
We had an excellent stay, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very quiet with no late night noise. We had a very comfy king bed, so comfy, my husband is buying one! We had a very nice breakfast with good coffee. The whirlpool did the trick! we were relaxed and felt 20 years younger! Across the street is a small shopping center and a gas station that was very convenient, and a pharmacy next door. All added up to a perfect stay!

"Stopped over on way to Maine"
We wanted to stop halfway to Maine so we picked this for the Hot Tub and were not disappointed. clean room , inexpensive and with indoor pool and hot tub .. breakfast was very good also.. very friendly staff.

Rooms were good size. Breakfast was good. Didn't appreciate the kids running in the halls all night. I had a sick child and had to call to complain. Also had a strong smell in the hallway of "weed". Pool floor needs to be redone. Pieces were floating in the pool.

After a long day on the road, this Best Western is a gem. Friendly staff, clean modernized rooms. Most traveler services within walking distance, pharmacies, grocery and restaurants. The '99' has great food at reasonable prices.

"Overall very good experience"
Overall we had a pleasant stay but Breakfast was from 6am-10am and when we got there at 9:00am to eat there was NOTHING left and no one in sight preparing or putting gout more food. Our room was on the chilly side, which I usually like but even for me it was too cold. I set the heat on 70 degrees and made sure it was on Heat setting and not the cool setting on the thermostat, it still blew cool air. The heat, if you want to call it that, was loud when it turned off and on all night. The vent in the bathroom is not very strong so the humidity from the shower lingered. It also ran nonstop and there was no off switch, there was a sigh that said the vent will remain on and it was connected to the main ventilation system. There was only a stand up shower which was fine but it leaked water like crazy and left puddles on the floor, yes, the shower curtain was inside the shower not outside. We had to use our extra towels for the puddle.

The hotel was very clean. It seems to be have been updated with new carpets. Ther room was good size for the family of 4. Basic breakfast was included. I feel this was very good value and reasonable price.

"Great stay"
We only stayed for one night but would stay again. The beds were really comfortable and it was quiet at night. The room was updated nicely and the staff was great. Breakfast was even good.The location was good but you could drive right by it if your not using a GPS.

We have stayed here at least 6 times on our way south for the winter. The price is fair and the rooms good. We love the location for our trip and the large shopping center across the street is a bonus. Staff is friendly and very good. Never a noise problem. So would I recommend.

"Roadtripper"
Needed a last minute roadtrip overnight and opted for the Best Western as was not hard to find. Room was basic and clean. I didn't feel 100% safe because this property is in a high traffic area, several warning signs in parking lot to take valuables with you and hotel not responsible, etc., and some of the guests were seedy looking. Security is on-site. My bed was comfortable and I could see my car from my window. The lobby coffee was actually good! Some restaurants nearby if you need them.

"Good for night or 2"
Easy on/off to I-95. Would stay again for a night or 2. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpfull. Rooms were clean and comfortable, convient to points in New Hampshire & Maine. Breakfast eggs were cold & rubbery. Would go to McDonalds before I eat breakfast there again.

"Snowbirds to Florida"
We spend 3 nights on the road en route to Florida for the winter. We off-ramp I-95 and stay at hotels which offer low prices and a complimentary breakfast. This BW Merrimack was our first night on the road. Every thing was to our satisfaction, beds very comfortable and early breakfast (6:00 am) worked for us.

"its a dscent place"
Check in went quick and smooth. was easy to find right off I-495. this hotel is kinda spread out. we had to enter from the very back. go down this short steep hill is a blind spot there, they have a mirror there to try to help. plenty of parking. we were on 2nd floor right off elevator. which had this musty smell. got to 2nd floor. apparently no heat in hallway. was always very chilly in hallway. we had a handicap room. very spacious room. very clean. heat was not on took a couple hours to really warm up. was a refrigerator and microwave. a very large bathroom, beings floor is marble bathroom room floor was cold. would get cold in there if you leave the door closed for an extended time. was some water stains on the seam of the ceiling. not an issue for me. room in a very quiet area. no hallway noise and none from outside. beings hotel is spread out. its a tricky walk to front. would have been nice to have a roadmap I guess. the big issue for us was. the pool area is closed. was told due to yearly mait. said it may be til thanks giving til pool area is open again. there's nothing really saying its closed. til we asked. for breakfeast has the usual fare, premade eggs, sasauge. make your own pancakes, fruit, did have sliced cheese. french toast sticks. but hot food was luke warm, so you hade to microwave it. a bit chilly in there. overall hotel worked for me. was part of a package deal. price wise in of itself there's better overall hotels for a little more. about 45-60mns to and from logan airport, depending on traffic. traffic in the region can be heavy at anytime. a Cumberland farms store across street. have to travel a little bit to restaurants and shopping areas. would stay there again if I had to.

"great local"
The staff is very pleansant and accomadating. Very clean and comfortable. Pancakes at breakfast. Will stay again. The location is very convenient.It has a grocery store near by and several other stores. Very easy access to highway.

"No Manager on Site?? Horrible breakfast, cold pool."
Need to train staff to be able to check in and out using all methods of payment if a manager is not on site to help. Do not give a receipt and say you are all set and then charge other credit cards once having been checked out because the staff in poorly trained and unable to process a gift card to their own hotel!!!!! Breakfast was terrible, my kids would not even eat anything. The pool is heated??? or so it says, it was cold we swam a few minutes and got out. This is not a hotel I would go to again.

"Breakfast Bistro Plus"
Their breakfast Bistro was an interesting experience, the variety was tremendous, every day was something new and delicious. I looked forward to the next mornings breakfast. not to mention the maid service, the indoor pool & spa, Plus the comfortable Rooms. Access to the Highway, walking distance to the local shopping area, a Dinner Theater rite next door, I could go on and on. The Best couple of days away from home!

"Great everything."
Great service, great room, great breakfast. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Cookies and coffee served at the reception and staff offered to make my business card into a luggage tag, which was delivered to my door afterward. Room was clean, and we also got a late check-out. Just wonderful!

"Bett than expected"
I was apprehensive after reading some the reviews but this hotel was perfectly fine for a one night stay. The room was large, clean and had coffee maker in room. We used the laundry facilities which were reasonable at $2 a wash/dry. My only complaint is the price, it was the most expensive motel we stayed in on a 2 week road trip. It's close to Boston, but not THAT close so unsure why there is such a premium.

"Better than previous reviews indicated"
I have to disagree with some of the previous reviews... Yes, the hotel décor was rather dated but the room was fine. Its wasn't dirty and nothing was broken, as others have indicated.We have no complaints about breakfast. The chinese restaurant across the street was good, with large portions at a reasonable price. In general the hotel was good value for money.

"Needs an upgrade"
Our room was alright. Nothing special. The bed was nice. It was nice having a fridge. The rugs look tired. I think the hotel needs an upgrade. Not your usual 2 1/2 star hotel. It was easy off the highway and there is a McDonalds right across the street. It was better than the write ups.
"Best Western Haverhill"
I usually stay at the Best Western in Concord but the meeting was further North this time. Its a good place to stay, I liked the room and service. The Hotel people went above and beyond to help when I was locked out of my car. I will stay there again when in the area
"Great place to stay"
If you are looking for an ideal location with everything you need across the street, this is the place. We stayed here as a base to visit the surrounding areas and we enjoyed our stay. Very nice full breakfast that changes each day and very comfortable, clean rooms.

"Dirty and Expensive"
This motel is not what is expected from a Best Western facility. Overall, it is deteriorating and is dirty. The common areas , elevator, stairways, breakfast area, etc. are all in need of some type of repair, replacement, or renovation. Furthermore, the room rate is very high for the area. It would be wise to spend the amount on a more upscale motel.

"MANAGER needs customer service training"
Good friend whose Pet Rescue vehicle broke down asked to be able to stay TWO HOURS till vehicle was fixed....NOPE that will be $140. WHAT>??? for 2 hours??? She did not want s to sleep in for 2 hours! Her vehicle had broken down. This is a lady who dedicated her ENTIRE life to rescuing and fostering animals...and she is treated like this??? Not in my book. This so-called Manager needs 1) more customer service training or 2) be demoted or FIRED.

"Treated Well in the Middle of the Night"
Because of our late arrival to Boston Logan airport (Midnight), we had specified late arrival, and a very welcoming gentleman met us at the desk, though it was 1:30 a.m. Our room was on the ground floor, clean and well-equipped. The bed was comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast included healthy options including eggs, make your own pancakes, fresh fruit and yogurt, and was presided over by a very friendly attendant (something new for us, in a reasonably priced hotel, and very nice). Checkout couldn't have been easier, and we were asked if we enjoyed our stay. Well worth what we paid.

"Spend $20 more and go somewhere nicer"
You'd think for $100 night you would get to stay at a fairly nice hotel. Think again. I knew the minute I walked in this was going to be a crappy place to stay. Had I not prepaid, I would've hightailed it out of there. The hallway was hot and smelled of that fake perfumey carpet sprinkle stuff. The bottom of the pool looked like someone had been throwing boudlers into it, pitted and flaky and was either moldy or dirty. The jacuzzi (1 of the 2 reasons I picked this hotel) was only big enough to hold 4 people MAX and it wasn't very hot (NOTE: watch that last step into it, it's a big drop and my husband almost fell.) The room is awkwardly laid out. No exhaust fan in the bathroom an they "decorated" with plastic shell shaped soap dishes and the design is completely outdated (they still have wallpaper in the bathroom. Can anyone say MOLD?) The air-conditioner looked like it was 20 years old (a wall unit) and due to potential mold issues, I was afraid to turn it on. One great thing was the ability to open the windows, but because we were on the bottom floor and they were the crank type, you had to close them before leaving the room or going to bed due to security. Therefore, no air flow at all. Pillows were filled with foam chunks. The TV was large and nice and the mini fridge was large and fairly new (the other reason I chose this hotel; fridge & microwave) The coffee cups were of the cheap toxic foam variety. Could only find four outlets that weren't being used by hotel things to plug things in, in the entire room. Two in the desk lamp, one behind the refrigerator and one in the bathroom. The free breakfast was your standard frozen reheated stuff or processed from a box. Internet was substandard. I will never stay here again and neither should you!

"This is no bargain."
Stayed there 4 days last week...best I can say is that I would never stay there again. After I checked in...I walked about a half a mile to my room and when I got there the keys would not open the door. Was told that if you touch the room key card with keys, another credit card, a ring...almost anything at all...the keys wont work. It took 3 trips to the front desk to get in to the room. The room smelled of mold, the beds were uncomfortable, there was no complimentary shampoo. The bathroom looked like it had been through the war. The countertop which likely should have been replaced many years ago was instead repaired with a reddish fixant which was a poor attempt at looking like the original countertop. There was a cigarette burn on the toilet seat and the bathroom floor while it looked like it had been washed...it also looked like the dirt had gone in to all the nooks and crannies around the tub and perimeter walls. If you have some reason to be in the area and can find no other hotel...this place will do...but if you are looking to stay in a nice place, this isn't the one. I will say that the staff members that I came across were cordial and efficient. Also, if you want to use the computer in the lobby ...its dial up, slow as could be and you are limited to 20 minutes.

"Very happy with Best Western, Haverhill"
The place was nice and clean. it is simple but very nice.There was a nice indoor pool, and shopping if you needed anything. Very pretty area close by and not far from Boston. It was quite, staff was pleasant. The breakfast was more then I expected, very good and I am picky. They have coffee in the reception area and the beds are comfortable.

"It was all good"
After reading so many negative reviews (and after a nightmare of a motel experience the night before in another state), DH and I were concerned after booking this through Hotwire. This is a very nice property! We had not a single problem and would stay here again with no qualms. Mattress was firm, property is well maintained, walking distance to a 99 Pub, staff is friendly. It was a nice stay - and we stayed there three nights. The only "negative" part was a soccer team staying there our last night and there was no way to get to breakfast the last morning. Those hungry young guys were not interested in letting other folks get to the food right away. We simply walked across the street to a McDonald's and had something equally unhealthy to what we might have had at the hotel. : ) There are a couple steps between the lobby and getting to the rooms. That might present a problem to some folks. There is a shopping center across the street. Marshalls is one of the stores. We do not have a Marshalls near us, so I had an hour of shopping fun. Unless we had some strangely unique experience, my advice is to ignore the negative reviews.

Beds comfy and spotless, as were the towels. Location great, right off I495, exit 49..Rooms large, great breakfast, friendly staff. Just 6 hours from Canadian Border at St. Stephen/Calais and 7.5 hours from Niagara Falls, New York.
