    « A wonderful break »

The hotel is stunning, the grounds are beautiful. The room we stayed in was in the loft so it didn't have a view unless you could see out of the high windows, but it was large as was the bathroom and we felt very comfortable there. The bar, the restaurant, the lounge and the library were everything I would have expected from a country house hotel. The staff were particularly helpful and accommodating. The hotel is perfectly located for visiting many interesting places in the area and just the job for relaxing after a busy day out. We especially loved our early morning swims, even though the pool is dated and waiting for a face lift.

« Lovely Manor House poor rooms »

When booking this hotel you see the lovely pictures of the Manor House but you get put in extremely poor accommodation in the stables. Poor shabby rooms with dated facilities. Food was good though nice evening meal and very good breakfast.

« The good the bad (and the ugly) »

So the good... beautiful house and immaculate grounds friendly staff tho undertrained and understaffed and not supervised, nice room in the main house (once we'd been moved from the original room given) good breakfast offering by 2 female staff who were efficient and seemed to care.... The bad (and ugly)...on arrival went to our stable courtyard room, it was dirty, broken blind on the dirty window, rust all on/in the bath, broken shower head (So couldn't shower) broken toilet roll holder, everywhere dusty, marked walls, broken furniture, stained headboard the list is endless. Requested a move waited for somebody to show us 2 more rooms had to ring reception again 25 minutes later as still no one had been to show us, when she did arrive admitted the other rooms would be no better, eventually given a room in the main house tho not for those that struggle on their feet no lift working and many stairs!lovely room but still dusty and no milk for the drink selection so back downstairs to get some as hard work to get an answer on the reception phone. As said the staff are friendly but inexperienced..long wait for drinks/coffees at the bar no one seemed to know what to do or how to do it (it certainly wasnt busy) the odd swear word between staff when chatting etc just generally not up to standard!! I haven't written this review to receive a sarcastic reply from the management (not that we saw any while there) or to be told we'll be missing out if we don't return when they've made improvements etc we generally loved the house and if it was clean and efficiently run we could see past the shabbiness and general maintenance work that needs doing.. But dirty rooms, unhoovered carpets lack of staff, attention to detail and poor slow service will put so many people off and it's such a shame. We've never been to a hotel where there is no information folder telling you what the restaurant menu is the facilities on offer or even what time and where breakfast is! Please please up your game and get this hotel back to where it was many years ago.

    « Our wedding 17.05.18 »

We booked stoke rochford for our wedding in 2016 and it was the best decision we have ever made! Not only is the landscape around the building stunning the hall itself is amazing. There have been a few changes to staffing but this was always communicated to us. Daniel the new wedding coordinator has been fantastic and even replied to our emails on his days off and did everything to make sure our day was perfect. I stayed the night before and the staff made sure I had everything I needed and did the up most to make me and my bridesmaids welcome. The day itself was amazing and the staff on the day were so professional and their service was excellent. Emma looked after us all day and she was fantastic and made sure the day ran smoothly so we could sit back and enjoy our day. We stayed in the Lincoln room which was gorgeous room. All the other guests said they were pleased with their rooms and all commented on how clean the rooms were. If I could do the day again I would and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you to the whole team at stoke rochford for making our day so magical.

« Amazing grounds, hotel needs work »

Stayed here for the weekend as a group of 30 as we were running Tough mudder. As you approach the hotel - wow what an entrance! The drive in is so pretty and as you approach the hotel it's breathtaking. The grounds are lovely. However, the inside feels it needs some money spent on it. Our room (we had a suite) was spotlessly clean with great views - the lift was broken though and it was so many stairs! Other members of the party were in the ?stable? rooms, an outbuilding of the hotel. They all said their rooms were clean but again felt they needed some love, as in redecorating. Also, there was a wide range of different sized rooms so don't expect it to be too big. One of the party, was put in a completely separate block, that got nicknamed the council flats lol! But she said her room was nice. We all visited the health suite on the Saturday afternoon. Didn't rate the sauna/steam rooms and the jacuzzi was broken. The pool was ok, it's tired, and like the hotel needs some love. The staff were outstanding although didn't seem enough of them. They recommended a pizza place for us as they had stopped serving food. And even bought it down to where we were all congregating. We are all definitely staying there again next year and are looking forward for it - mainly due to the staff!

    « Very disappointed »

Very friendly staff but very disappointed with my stay. Stayed for two nights. I checked in late on a Friday night and got to my room around 10:30pm. At around midnight, a shower of water started coming through the ceiling which would not stop. (Like having a shower in your bed!) I took this up with the lady at reception and she kindly changed the room for me. The next room was a great deal smaller / cramped with dead bugs in the shower. The hotel was quite full so this is the best I could get. For the inconvenience, I got a free drink voucher, allowing one free drink at the bar! While this was a nice gesture, it's far from good enough. The following evening I had dinner in the restaurant. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. I had to ask for my glass and knife to be changed as they were dirty to the point of not being cleaned in the first place. Surprisingly, the food was very very good. After leaving the restaurant, I went to the bar to redeem my free drink and ordered a brandy. One measure was presented to me in a tall lemonade glass. At this point I had given up and just drank it and left. I asked reception if they are open early in the morning as I had to check out at 6:30am. I was told "yes, no problem, we are always here". The next morning, I was waiting at reception from 6:30am - 6:50am and no one was there. I had to throw my keys over on to the reception desk and leave. Since then, I have been charged for the dinner (which is fine) but no contact and no final bill for my records. I even tried to call (4 times) once I had left only to get a mobile answerphone each time. Really bad experience of which I didn't expect to have to pay full price. Will never stay at a BW establishment again.

    « Wow impressive building »

We stay with our friends and was very impressed with the front of the building, when we went in we wasn't disappointed it is a beautiful place , we were staying in the Hall and not in the stables , our room was very large and the bed was enormous, the bathroom was of a good size and all very clean . Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked and hot so no problem there, but the evening meal I had beef first night then chicken the second night was beautiful and tasty but there just wasn't enough potato and vegetables. The staff gave a good and friendly service . There was a problem with the lift not working and it was a struggle to walk all those flights of stairs but we had a laugh about and it didn't spoil our break ?? We will definitely come back to this beautiful building

    « Quality »

I was sceptical about staying here having read the TA reviews. All I can say is, they must have turned things around. I had not real concerns - just a couple of observations. The building is fantastic. I couldnt help taking photos - it is well restored and spacious. My room was in the converted stables. Plenty of space, well set up, and a good quiet nights sleep. Observations - I ordered room service. Good quality and arrived in good time - but there was not a space to put the tray down or to sit at. I had to balance a plat on my lap sitting on the bed! Also - the wifi was down during the time I was there - but I'm sure this is an easy enough fix. Breakfast was a typical buffet - but nicely done. They cooked eggs to order. I would definitely stay here again. It was priced just right.

    « Dave G »

Beautiful building with amazing architecture. Lovely gardens near hotel to stroll around and further grounds to explore. Food and room in stable block were both good. Leisure centre / spa was disappointing. Overall a very pleasurable 2 night stay.

« Second stay at this spectacular building »

This is an impressive looking building with spectacular gardens but.........there needs to be some attention in certain areas. In the bar we sat to have a quick lunchtime snack, menu very poor, decided to have soup and were waiting over half an hour, I had to ask a waitress if it would be much longer? She came back to say it wouldn't be too long. When it did eventually arrive it was half a bowl and 45 mins from when we first ordered it. We had no apology for the wait, and it wasn't as though it was busy there was only one other couple in there. The glass coffee table top had massive chips out of it on the corners, so incredibly dangerous! Can't understand why this has been overlooked?.. our room was nice though, massive bathroom with seperate shower and bath. Afternoon tea wasn't great, Victoria sponge was very dry, had better. Must say the receptionist was so lovely and friendly (all I know is she used to work for Edinburgh wool) this is the second stay we have had here, I just love the house gardens and location, we will return x

    « WOW, well almost »

Stunning property that will WOW you as you drive up, thats where it ends i am afraid. Its not bad but the service and decor doesn't continue the wow factor. As we arrived in the grand reception area the place was strewn with dirty cups, plates and glasses, not the best of welcomes. We stayed as overnight having played golf at the nearby Stoke Rochford Golf Club, a must for all golfers. Our room was in the stable courtyard, a little on the small side for a double room but clean and adequate for our needs with a comfortable bed. We explored the interior of this fine property and every room on the ground floor is awesome, however as you make your way downstairs towards the Terrace Bar it becomes a mis mash of decor totally out of character with the rest of the building. The hotel was apparently full on the evening of our stay and this showed in the the restaurant and bar, only one bar person serving and too be honest he didn't stand a chance, had to queue for 30 mins to get a drink. Again in the restaurant whilst the menu was limited the food was OK, nothing to write home about but OK. However whilst the waiters and waitresses did there best there was a clear lack of leadership and direction and they were just running around doing there best, not there fault just needed a leader. Would i stay here again, yes i would, but one thing guys, you have 28 acres of beautiful grounds that must be explored by everyone, why oh why do you only have 5 tables for people to sit and enjoy the outside, it was a hot evening and to be able to sit outside would have been great.

    « disappointed »

Had a 2 night get away and decided to upgrade to stay in the actual hall what a disappointment! The room was called a suite! It was an extra £60 per night. The main hall is beautiful and the downstairs area was very nice. The bar and restaurant was something else. 40 minute wait in a long queue to get a drink. Lack of staff. all young with what appeared to be no leadership or organisation. The restaurant was like a canteen. Lighting could have been lowered but the food was really good

    « Don't bother! »

My partner and our friends stayed this bank holiday weekend. Upon check in staff were really unhelpful and didn't appear to care about us or our stay. The main building is lovely our room itself was in the stables. This part did not meet our expectations at all. It is desperate for decorating and modernisation, most walls had damp and the windows were filthy. Our room was ok but basic but our friends room was awful with a toiletvflush that didn't work, damp and no shower curtain. The food was ok but the worst part about the stay has to be the staff. All the staff we encountered were incredibly rude. They were badly understaffed and after fifteen minutes of queuing at the bar without seeing a member of staff we spoke to reception about this to be given the response of 'ok' the staff and their attitude ruined our stay and I will not be visiting here again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

    « Such a let-down »

Fantastic architecture and setting. No doubt about that. But for me that was as far as the good bits went. I guess the warning signs were in the exceptionally pot-holed driveway on approach to the Hall. I then passed some out of place prefab 2storey buildings later to discover one was the leisure centre which is some 250m away from the Hall You then round the bend to the magnificent sight of the Hall. And then, I was given my room - in yet another separate building, the stable block. Please avoid the moldy-walled cramped stable block. I was given room 10 at the end of a corridor for £65room only. Clue in the title really but I certainly wouldn't put a horse in this room let alone 2 people. Bathroom was a complete joke with a wriggle around the sink to get to sit down on the pan. As a light sleeper I was kept awake by the constant 10sec muffled fog horn of some plant housed nearby or the stomp of footsteps up the creek staircase. My view was of the ?woodland lodge' another prefab, with plants growing out of the gutters. At least, I thought to myself I'm not staying in that. But couldn't help wondering if a lost sole in there was thinking the same when they looked out. I didn't eat here and didn't drink in the bar, so can't comment. Frankly, as a business stop over where my intent was to get to the gym and get a good nights sleep, it fell a long way short. Do yourself a favour book a one star chain hotel and at least you know what to expect.

« Stunning location although did not stay »

Where to begin the drive up to the hotel is absolutely stunning although this was where it stayed.. check in was smoothly and we was directed to our room in the stables unfortunately it rapidly went down hill the room was so small and uncomfortable, the bathroom was so small to get in the shower or go to the toilet you had squeeze around the sink, the bed was stained and the walls were dirty with mound on the walls in the corridors. We tried to book a table in the restaurant to be told we would have to wait up to 3 hours just to be seated . The reception staff was very helpful and recommend somewhere else to eat .. we got back to the hotel and had a drink in the bar which is a stunning room although several light bulbs need replacing, making the room seem dark. The bar staff was rude half way through serving us went to have a conversation with another staff member who was drinking behind the bar. We decided to retire to our room where the tv didn't work husband went to report to reception to be told someone would look at it in the morning after we had checked out., we decided not to stay. I am left extremely disappointed as this was a rare one night break away from our daughter and this spoilt our weekend. we did receive a refund but only when I told someone who I think was a night porter, as non of the staff had a set uniform and no one had a name badge on, that I was a best western employee then they honoured the refund.

    « Hit & miss »

Impressive location & building, but a bit hit & miss on food, the decor, service & facilities. Room was good even had a small kitchen, bath had a hole in the side & bottom of bath grubby. Bar service ok, beer selection poor. Restaurant was a disappointment, food was ok but the service let it down. Had to ask for napkins, asked for our wine 3 times & when it arrived halfway through our starter it was served warm with no ice bucket or cooler. The bill was then all wrong. Gym looks ok but the jacuzzi is out of action. With such an lovely building & features it looks like someone was let loose with a TK Max or The Range catalogue. This place could be a real gem with a few tweaks here & there.

    « Well worth a visit ! »

We have just had a two night stay all inclusive gift from our daughters as a golden wedding gift, we were upgraded to the Lincoln Room as a complimentary gift which was a lovely gesture we thought. From going in to coming home we have enjoyed every minute, the staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing to much trouble, the food was excellent, lots of choice at breakfast buffet, the waiters at night and behind the bar were all young and so pleasant, always smiling... if I had to comment on anything I think they should all have name badges, as I would like to say the young girl in the restaurant at night was so happy and pleasant, the lady in charge at night so helpful, and the blonde lady on reception as we checked in, but no names ! Our room was fabulous overlooking the estate, bathroom spotless, very comfy bed as well. The radiators weren't working I don't think in our room but they had put an electric heater in which was fine.... the building itself is stunning, so glad we went....

    « Certainly Worth Visiting »

I stayed at Stoke Rochford Hall for business and was impressed by the Grade 1 Listed Building which was located in great surroundings. The food was very nice and the customer service from Lorraine was brilliant. I would recommend visiting Stoke Rochford Hall

« Not really worth the trip »

My sister and I went for a 2 night stay from a buy a gift voucher. We were meant to have a twin room. They confirmed double so we told them our booking was for a twin. Seemed happy to sort it, got to the room to find it was a double. Didn't get to stay in the main house we were instead in the converted stables which are seemingly more commonly used as self catering rooms. A bit out of date, leaking bath so even if you wanted to relax you can't and space in room not really used as well as you'd expect. Breakfast was disappointing too. Grounds are quite nice but wouldn't bother returning.

« Afternoon tea voucher from buyagift »

Beautiful grounds ... And fabulous impressive hall.... Afternoon tea was a gift for 2 from Buyagift We Received a warm welcome, very polite and helpful staff However here are some Tips we feel would improve the actual eating experience Firstly the music was really LOUD, started off with Adele, then went to dreary depressing CELLO classical music... Why not use vintage China crockery, and use a proper cake stand, I didn't like sweet and savoury next to each other on a piece of slate Why not "Home make" the cakes and scones......these were shop bought cakes and bread, French stick loaf thin sliced with bit of crispy bacon on not really dainty!! Or tiny roll with houmous and sliver red pepper.....was expecting the traditional cucumber sandwich, not pre sliced cheap cheese and pickle.... Why serve the cream and jam in sherry glasses??? Overall the food was disappointing, and not much of it.....would have been nice to be offered choice of what was served. We did get the teapot refilled, although I don't think any extra tea leaves were added! I cannot fault the staff, and that is why we didn't complain. I suppose with these voucher schemes, the venue don't actually get much...I would have only paid £8 max for each person ...think the voucher was £35 for 2

    « Withered hotel »

On arrival the stunning drive down to the hotel is lovely Once you get into reception it is dark big and withered Unfortunately the hotel is in transmission with BW The lift was out of order 2 days.housekeeping needs to keep this place clean, it's quite dirty in areas food n coffee stains on walls We ate in the resteraunt which was overpriced and 3 choices on starters/ mains/puddings, the inexperienced waiters are not tentative at all for your needs waiting till mains for wine isn't really acceptable The snooker table had been vandalised which is a shame The gardens are a lovely walk But advertised as having a pool and sauna in the hotel is in fact on another part of the estate The reception bar was closed when we had finished our meal which is bonkers why ? All in all would I stay again ? If BW get a grip on customer needs / get a grip on the cleaning and bring the pool n spa in hotel . They are onto a winner for spa days with golf course next to hotel ! If afternoon tea wasn't so expensive maybe we would have tried it. Having no website is brutal for any business, this needs to be up and running asap My advice take a hit close the doors for mass refurb and open in a few weeks fresh and ready to go at the prices your charging people would then be happy to pay Having a 19inch television in a suite really isn't the way forward Get rid get 32inch smart tv's in your rooms M

    « weekend away »

the hotel staff were excellent , from cleaners to managers. reception staff knowledgeable friendly nothing to much trouble for them. bar staff was very good but at times they were lot of people waiting. I personally enjoyed all my meals in the dining hall . room was large and very clean .yes I would return

« Get together with friends »

It was lovely experience to visit here..we stayed at this hotel before few months .the rochford hotel was a perfect place where we can enjoy our family trip or any other trip .the room are very clean and well kept.. nice to visit here we hope to return..? thanku rochford..

« Lovely potentially fab but not quite there »

Work trip away in this so clearly a building not built to be a hotel! Much of it is superb but so many little things undermine the overall feel. My room was fabulously spacious, but shower would turn off despite many attempts before checking out! Food was ok bar a mushroom soup at lunch that a colleague described accurately as having the flavour of a cuppa soup portion for one dilute for 40! Bowls 90-95% full being returned! I can totally understand it's attraction as a wedding venue and it was lovely whilst there to see such visiting planning their big day and cuddling in love and excitement! Pool was disappointing too and a 5 minute walk from the hotel. On an exceptionally warm April day it was ideal but I suspect it'd be cold most of the year.

    « Wonderful Service »

We popped to Stoke Rochford Hall with friends after our daughters swimming lesson. We were met by Daniel who gave us the highest level of personal service. We loved the hotel and the service was second to none. We will be back again soon to try more from the menu!

« Beautiful building, and new management starting to get things sorted »

Beautiful setting, and most things about the place were fine. Excellent walks, room was fine and had a great breakfast. Some of the interior decor is stunning. Has just moved to full control of new management (previously owned / joint operated with NUT) and significant improvements planned. The wonderful reception manager Lorraine is an absolute star and a massive asset - hope she stays with the new organisation. Will definitely go back and see how it has progressed in a year's time. Prices are low at moment, but this could very easily be a genuine 4 star hotel with not much additional work required.

    « An enjoyable stay »

We enjoyed a relaxing two night weekend stay at Stoke Rochford Hall. Check out all inclusive deals for this hotel. They're good value. The food and drink provided was excellent throughout our stay. All the staff in the hotel and leisure centre were friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner service was particularly good. Lunch service in the bar though was slow and a bit chaotic on both days. Staff seemed to be covering functions in two other rooms at the same time, which led to delays. Accommodation in the old stable block was comfortable and quiet. The hall, grounds and gardens are all stunning and really add to the pleasure of the stay.

    « Sunday lunch »

Terrible service worse than being at fawltys hotel. Sunday lunch was over cooked vegetables cold and overall taste and look disgusting. Please don't bother to go here. The only good thing is the scenery outside

« Afternoon teas - nowhere as good as before, disappointing »

Before Stoke Rochford was taken over by Best Western, the afternoon tea at Stoke Rochford was a delight, each course brought out individually including fresh scones, warm from the oven, both quality and quantity were excellent. It seems the corporate behemoth has done a pretty good job of dumbing down the afternoon tea and making it mediocre at best. Everything is brought out at once on a big slate. Clearly the sandwiches had been sat around and were dry, 4 miniscule triangles of salmon, beef and horeradish, ham and mustard and cheese and pickle, hardly inspiring. If you'e a vegetarian, you get two each of the cheese and pickle and cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, they are clearly not trying are they? For 'cakes' you get a brownie, a small lemon drizzle 'chunk', a macaron, small carrot cake and a tiny jar of lemon posset. The brownie was nice, the lemon drizzle cake quite dry and tasteless, the carrot cake was quite dry too with too much frosting, I've made better myself. The macaron was ok and the lemon posset quite nice. You get one scone each, they were quite nice but fairly small. We have had better afternoon teas at garden centres for half the price. So disappointing compared to our previous experience here. It simply is not worth it, there will be much, much better afternoon teas out there. The setting is really nice but really don't bother.
