Clean room and modern amenities such as connections for mobile devices. Excellent breakfast choices. Friendly and efficient front desk staff. The room had a balcony that was nice to have coffee in the morning. Location is accessible from major roads.
Sheya and Dough really made our stay spectacular! We loved the dessert views. Had a great time at the bar and in the pool! Even saw some desert animals!
This darling little hotel is a true gem.Has a real "Arizona"look & feel to it.All rooms have either a balcony or patio with tables&chairs.Very clean.Friendly&welcoming staff.Great Southwest decor. Also great views of the mountains.Handy to the highway.Included breakfast was good.Good choices&was very clean and well-stocked.We had two queen beds-very comfy.I dislike staying in "cookie cutter"hotels so this hotel was a delight. We stayed here after doing the Dolly Stargazing cruise(beyond awesome!!)Pool area really nice as well...you could take your breakfast outside&eat at tables near the pool.
We have stayed here multiple times and this visit wasn't up to the standards this place has done before.
Quiet and comfortable hotel in Gold Canyon, walgreens next door. Rodeo lounge is great, food and beer and great bartenders, location of hotel is perfect, close to everything, but quiet. Pool is beautiful and hotel grounds are nice. Stay here every year in May
My mother and I stayed here for two nights. The staff was friendly, the accommodations were very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and breakfast. The only issue we had was that we went through several keycards. We had no issues getting them replaced.
This is truly one of the cleanest and nicest hotels we've stayed in. From the front desk receptionist, Shleyl, to the Manager Andy, to the awesome Doug, that runs the amazing breakfast, to Lynn and Josh in Maintenance, to the kind beautiful Housekeepers, each and everyone gave us just the most awesome service! The grounds are kept up beautifully and everyone was so accommodating!! The area is perfect - close to hiking trails and just gorgeous golf courses. The "Rodeo Bar" attached is also just the funnest! Would recommend to anyone traveling with our without kiddos!
For one nite I was charged close to 300.00 for a room that should have been 160 with tax. The bed was hard, the toilet was so loud when flushing and the noise level was ridiculously loud. Location was great but the cost was insane
The property is a cozy place that's not too far from the valley but far enough to get away and enjoy a quieter environment. There are several restaurants near by and a great Mexican Food Restaurant by Bashas.
This hotel exceeds in all areas. It was super clean, accommodating, friendly, helpful staff, great amenities, great food, and WIFI. I highly recommend this hotel for the price. I will definitely stay here again in my travels.
Everything about this hotel was amazing. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. My only knock was that the fitness lacked anything other then treadmills. The cable machine handles were all missing grips which made it hard to use them.
Friendly and professional staff. We were pleasantly surprised at the condition of the grounds, they were so clean and such a nice atmosphere. The staff took pride in their work and it showed. The breakfast staff took great strides to ensure fresh food and clean areas.
This property is probably the best value in the area. Room quality goes above and beyond what I would normally expect from the Best Western brand. The property is conveniently located near the Arizona Renaissance Festal, and Superstition hiking areas.
Cozy | quick check in | Bar n Grill nice and appetizers and freshly made popcorn made the stay a treat. Breakfast, first time we've stayed at a hotel and had free breakfast more than once. Yogurt tasty with healthy toppings, fresh breads, pastries and waffles too. Fogers coffee yum and juce tasted fresh, yet was not. Staff, kept area clean and refilled food on regular basis. Frist time in years, we've choose to have a second free breakfast. Satisfying | tasty. Romms nice, prefer to have ez access to updated electronic charging stations. Yes, we plan to stay again, Poolside rooms welcoming, too!
The staff was friendly and very accommodating! The sleeping room and bathroom are very large. I loved the mattress on our king bed! I felt the hotel was very quiet and soundproof! Breakfast was early and they offered a nice variety!
We stayed three nights while in town for a wedding. Everything about the hotel was great but what really impressed me was how happy all the staff came across. We stay in a lot of hotels and this wasn't just casual politeness, this was happy employees glad to be there.
The hotel is close to anything you may need. They even have a lounge/bar. The view of the Superstition Mountains was fantastic. You can even go hike it if you want to. It's just a short drive to the entrance of the mountain. The hotel stay was great. The hotel was clean & the staff was very helpful & pleasant. I had a small refrigerator, coffee maker & microwave oven in my room. They have a pool, spa, a great breakfast in the morning. The $$ cost didn't break my wallet.
Hotel smelled bad. All doors slam closed loud. Traffic from the road is loud. People in the hallway are loud. The bed is uncomfortable. The heater is noisy. No light blinds on the windows, only faux wood shutters. I wondered the whole time if someone could see in. And.... I travel a lot for business and the $35 for a late check out (by 1 hour) and $35 for an early check out (cancelling a couple days due to change in work plans) are both unheard of and quite frankly unnecessary. The room will be rented anyway. I left the hotel early so not be charged a late check out. Definitely not stay here again and will tell all colleagues not to stay here.
We were unable to find fault with this hotel. The price was reasonable and requesting a quiet room was honored. We slept well, ate a complimentary hot breakfast of eggs and sausage links, and were entertained by the choses the cable tv had to offer.
In morning staff shut off water to hotel without notifying. Couldn't take shower or use toilet. Not their problem go somewhere else was the answer. Worst experience ever. Makes Best Western brand look bad. Will never use them again.
Of course you can stay at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort, and the prices are much higher than Best Western. The staff here was attentive. Breakfast was better than most free hotel breakfasts. Rooms were clean, pool area was nice, and the outside area was inviting. We had a large wedding party and it worked well for us. The attached bar/lounge was great for the evenings. Places to eat are close by and a golf course is about 1/4 mile away.
The lady at the front desk was extremely rude. She ignored me for 15 minutes before attempting to check me in. We were arrived at 2 (check in is at 3) despite there being room available she refused to let us check in since it is “hotel desecration” and she didn't want to. Rooms are dated and musty.
Hands down the worst customer service I have EVER experienced and how sad it was from the HOSPITALITY industry that is 100% customer service. This hotel was the preferred hotel for the wedding I flew into town for. First of all, I received a phone call in the middle of the wedding on Saturday night being asked if everything was OK and when I was planning to get to the hotel. I have never been called by a hotel to find out when I would be arriving. I'm in town for a wedding, I have no idea when I'm going to get there which the lady did not really appreciate that I didn't know when I would be arriving. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 AM to an air conditioner that did not work. We called the front desk to tell them and was told there was nothing she could do and there were no other rooms available. There was a knock at the door and it was the front desk lady who was talking to her manager which apparently come to find out was the owner. The owner ended up calling the room and literally told us to either deal with it or leave the hotel. I explained I live out of town, it's 12:30 in the morning, and we've been drinking. We do not need to be driving all around town to try and find a hotel when I planned well in advance and booked this room several weeks prior. I asked for her name and last name followed by her hanging up on me. I might add she did offer to call the resort in town to see if they had any rooms available. Despite being told there was no one around and nothing could be done about the broken AC, a maintenance man came to the door and ended up switching out our AC unit with the AC unit from the hallway. Upon checking out the “owner” whom I apparently was speaking with the night before graciously gave us a $25 credit for our ac trouble. Coming from the hospitality myself, I am extremely disappointed, will never stay here again, nor will I recommend it.
Clean and friendly hotel staff. Excellent breakfast. Pool was clean and refreshing. Fitness room was adequate and clean. Karaoke at the lounge was a lot of fun. Staff was great too. Pizza and spirits were great!
After multiple shockingly rude interactions with staff, mainly one woman who I believe to be the owner/owners wife, I asked to speak to a manager. Naturally, her reaction was to threaten to call the police on my husband and I. She reluctantly gave me a number to “manager” to speak to, which was a fake number that was not in service. After speaking with corporate they advised me to wait to file a complaint until our stay was over because they were worried the woman would “retaliate” against us. Do not stay here unless you want to be overcharged to be harassed.
This is our favorite Best Western out of all the ones we've stayed at around the world. Breakfast is fantastic, the hotel is clean and manicured inside and out. It is very well managed and they are very responsive if you need something.
I have stayed at the Best Western Gold Canyon several time over the last few years and I am always so impressed. The decor is beautiful and the hotel is always spotlessly clean. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The bar is great fun and bartenders are fun and friendly - love the pizza too! I travel with a group of western reenactors and when my group thought we wouldn't be able to use the Gold Canyon for one of our trips they were all very disappointed.
No, this is not a five-star hotel or a resort property, but for its class they did an excellent job. Our rooms were ready on time, clean and well-appointed. The AC worked well (though I can see that if you're in the part of the suite that's far from the window unit, it could be a bit warmer [but they had also placed a nice standing fan in that area]). The bed was quite comfortable. The breakfast had a big selection of foods including eggs and potatoes and sausage, waffles, fresh fruit, etc. it was tended almost continuously and kept very clean and fresh. There was a bit of covered parking available. It's close to stores and food options. Far enough from the highway as to not be noisy. We didn't use the pool or bar/lounge (or what it was) next door but they both seemed nice. A member of our party inadvertently left some items behind in a room at checkout and the staff immediately contacted us so that we could retrieve it. Would stay here again.
Great place to stay, heated outdoor pool and hot tub were really clean. Room was clean and furniture comfortable. Water had strong bleach smell. Jetted tub was loud, but overall was a really nice three day getaway.
We spent 2 nights here. The location is good but the hotel is way overpriced. The bed linens are old and worn. As diamond members we asked for a one hour late check out and we're refused. We were treated much better at the holiday inns and hiltons we stayed at earlier this week.
We love staying in the Best Western at Gold Canyon, AZ. The service is good. We love the complimentary breakfast each morning. We love the rooms with balconies and patios because I love being outside. We love the convenience of being able to eat and drink right next door. It is always clean, and everyone is so accommodating. There are so many nice amenities. We travel all over Southern Arizona during every and this is always one of our stops.
Excellent room and staff. Extremely helpful on making sure we had what we needed. Breakfast was hot and good selection. Recommend to anyone staying for the Ren Faire or just in the area. Local restuarnt (Wahoo's) was close with good food.
Awful holes in sheets, not enough towels for daily towel service. Towels were dingy, very old. When asked to fix the problems they tried to cover up. Desk clerks didn't remember us asking for better sheets.
We reserved a room on 1/27/22 at Gold Canyon Inn. Best Western. when I arrived was told no pets (we have a small poodle)..so I asked them to cancel but got charged $200 anyway..5 days later it is still on our credit card so I went there to find out why and the manager called the sheriff as I refused to leave without her signature on a bill showing nothing owed...she was very belligerent to me..we got a much nicer bigger room up the street at Gold Canyon Resort for $150/night and the accept pets..what a difference!!..Gold Canyon employees were also very nice to us. Maurice Russell
Very well cared for hotel, inside and out. The room was decorated nicely, well appointed and very clean. The refrigerator had a freezer, which is helpful for some travelers. We really enjoyed our two day stay.
My wife & I were visiting family in the Mesa area. The hotel was a relaxing oasis to retreat to after a long day. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, hot tub, superior breakfast buffet (despite the pandemic). We were thankful for the appropriate pandemic precautions observed by this Best Western as well. We plan to return to this very hotel whenever we come back to see relatives in the area. Hats off to both corporate Best Western for setting the standards, & to the staff at Gold Canyon Best Western for implementing them graciously.
My family and I traveled from California to attend the Trump rally, my stay was very pleasant. We checked in late, very easy check in, and we all had breakfast the next morning. All was good, they could upgrade the quality of food to make it a great experience!
We stays at dozens of Best Westerns and this one is right there near the top for what we want. Helpful person at the front desk, very fair price, nice room…everything was good. We'd definitely stay here again. It's nice to be able to write such a favorable review.
The Best Western was great, staff was great helpful and caring. I will stay there again. This was my first time in Arizona and the company who booked our rooms at this hotel stated that they will use this hotel next time in the area.
My family of two adults and three children stayed in a room with two queen size beds and a sofa bed. The room had a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, two TVs, desk, and a side chair. It was pretty cramped for five people, especially considering there was limited storage space for toiletries in the bathroom area (only the counter around the sink, no shelf under the sink). This hotel was ok overall, but not great. The staff was ok, the room was ok, and the location was ok. It was a level above a Motel 6, I thought. The breakfast was pretty good, and I thought the hotel did a nice job setting up grab-n-go food options. The room was clean and the sofa bed was already made up, which was nice. There were three things I didn't like about the hotel that will probably stop us from going back. First, the AC in the room never got the room cool, and it wasn't strong enough to force the air from one end of the room to the other. There was a tower fan in the living room side (the side opposite the AC unit), but it made an irritating noise if you set it to rotate, so that wasn't very helpful. I'm glad we came in November when the outside temp wasn't very hot, because I would imagine the room would be pretty uncomfortable during the AZ summer. Second, the water pressure in the shower was pretty low. I'm not sure if that was because of local government code or just a poor setup. It was disappointing either way. Third, the fitness center hours were 9 AM - 10 PM. I've never stayed at a hotel that didn't have early hours for the fitness center for people that want to work out before breakfast. I like to work out before breakfast, so I ended up just exercising outside. I found a nice walking trail quite close to the hotel, so that was fine, but I wouldn't want to do that in the summer.
This hotel is dated and worn, from the lobby to the rooms. The staff here are not friendlly or welcoming. The rooms are dark and musty, the internet is slow. There are an excessive amount of signs with penalties for this or that or stating "no pets" "no guests" etc.... The hallways are very dark and confusing with lots and lots of security cameras, the ice maker on our floor was inoperable and the pool was looking green.
The bed was wonderful. Slept so good. The hotel seemed clean and the staff was very friendly. We felt very comfortable with our stay and the value seemed very good. We used the guest laundry service and that was easy.
Everything and everyone was wonderful. Great breakfast, the pool was clean, the Rodeo lounge was a fun place and service was wonderful. I definitely will be back. I was alone and never felt scared or concerned about anything.
My family was very satisfied with the stay and the early morning breakfast, we enjoyed the beautiful weather and were very pleased with the kind house keeping employees, they did a great job with there work
In the era of Covid, despite vaccinations and sanitation, some hotels use the pandemic as an excuse to cut service (but not prices!). Breakfast was lacking. Wifi was weak. Beds and pillows were extremely firm- great, if you can sleep on rigid beds and chonky pillows. Service was great. Very friendly front desk clerk. Not many restaurant options nearby.
hotel seemed nice has a bar and serves bar food at hotel. Great wall chinese food across street was good. only problem was that the fire alarm was going off several times between 10 pm and 2 am. called front desk and was told that they had fire department de activate alarm system in middle of night. hotel staff stated this is a common problem. other than the alarm going off all night we would stay again.
This Best Western hotel was excellent in all ways. The staff was friendly, helpful and curtious. I stay in a lot of different hotels and this by far the best.. I would recommend to my friends or anyone going that way...to stay there
This is a very peaceful place with excellent service. I had a pool view room, spent time relaxing in the pool/sun, and really enjoyed my stay. The lounge pub/restaurant in the hotel is a great neighborhood spot as well. I would definitely stay here again!
Electric was out in our village. short notice from the electric company that it would be restored in 24 hours. Inside my house it was 89 degrees..Online, I booked my stay in 6 minutes...Got a good clean room for the night .It was already cooled to 75 degrees as I unlocked the door to my room..The entire Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful..I gpt a good night's rest ..
Although check-in was slow due to flurry of activity/guests upon my arrival (late night), the staff were friendly and helpful. I did have to ask about Express Check-out as indicated on the wall behind the front desk, but the staff were sure to submit my email info & remote check-out was super easy. Thanks!
Front desk staff was super nice. Exactly what you would want at a hotel. Rooms were clean, nice view of landscape. Lighting was very harsh though. Fluorescent bulbs in lamps made for an unpleasant experience, felt like a cafeteria. Breakfast was horrible I have to say. I realize it's covid but honestly, there's no reason it couldn't have been a bit better.
Expect surely staff. A one-star roadside motel. Good location. Negligible property. Upon check in, they did not have the poolside king rooms I reserved on the Best Western website. The only available poolside rooms were queen rooms. Here is the catch – they tried to charge me more then blamed me for their mistake. Seriously? There are too many nice hotels with pleasant staff out there to stay at a place like this. I will definitely not be back.
Great location with access to superstition mountain hiking trails. The pool was lovely and spacious enough that people could spread out fairly well even during the Covid pandemic. The guest laundry was convenient and reasonably priced and the laundry room was very clean. The refrigerator actually had a freezer section in it which was very helpful for freezing our ice pack and other items for the next part of our journey. The room was comfortable and well designed but a bit on the dark side, and the noise level was a little higher than I would have liked it to be. There was a nice screened window in our room which looked out at the pool, but people were smoking in the courtyard/pool area and the smoke wafted into our room so we had to shut the window. I would suggest to the management of this hotel that there be no smoking within 25 feet of the building and not in the courtyard area. Overall housekeeping service was excellent except for one day when it was very late. There were at least 2 outlets on each side of the king bed, making it CPAP and mobile phone compatible!
Nice, clean, affordable, well-run hotel. Friendly accommodating staff. Nice pool and hot tub. Good COVID protocols: spacing of guest rooms, limit number of pool users, grab and go breakfast, plexiglass shields at front desk. Made us feel safe. The attached bar and restaurant was also great. Very neighborhood bar feel. Everyone made us feel welcome! I would definately stay here again when I return to the area.
I reserved and paid for my room on Best Western's website. It took 20 minutes to check-in and I was the Only person there. I was there for business and conference calls. The lady at the front desk Had no sense of urgency and initially said I couldn't check in. I Do Not Recommend this hotel.
This has been the 11th year my wife & I have spent here. Exceptioal management staff. Well kept property. Nice pool area. Great breakfast menu. A "home away from home" for us. Would stay at no other when in the Phoenix area.
It was a pleasure to stay here again while hiking in the Superstitions and kayaking at Canyon Lake. It's convenient, clean, and the staff and owners are pleasant. It was the beginnng of taking precautions for COVID-19 and the owners were on it.
It is a clean facility with nice rooms. My room on the 2nd floor had a small balcony overlooking the pool. With only two options available in Gold Canyon they really take advantage of the situation. I've stayed in facilities which are just as nice for a lot less! There is a bar connected to the hotel which is independently owned. The bar closes as 2am then folks return to the hotel lobby and linger. Was way too noisy for me at 2:30am.
Nice lobby and checkin experience. Room and furniture were in good order and condition. Typical breakfast area and offerings. Attractive exterior. Good parking. Lounge experience offered next to main lobby.
Great place and location. Only about 45 minutes of from the hotel. The room was clean and we had access to the pool, fitness room and breakfast. Breakfast was very extensive which we were pleasantly surprised by.
Extra person charges were added to our bill. The owner said a camera showed people going up to our room. The owner then accused them of having breakfast, which they did not. These people met us for a hike and then left. Cameras used to assess hotel fees? Assumptions made on the part of the owner that resulted in extra fees? Ridiculous.
Horrible service ! Charged early check in when we got there but over the phone were told no charge if after 11am. Was harassed to leave room after told we could late check out at 1pm. Shower head needed replacement and breakfast was not good. Waiting for my early check in credit!
Very nice hotel with all the amenities we needed! Staff were exceptionally helpful. Room was clean, quiet, and spacious. We were in the area visiting family, so the location was super convenient. We'll definitely stay here again next time we visit!
This is the type of hotel we would call a buget mini resort. I was in the area for an event and didn't have time to partake in everything the hotel had to offer. Great pool, hot tub, and pub. They had it all. Room was everything I would expect from a Best Western with a designated motorcycle parking area in the front. Breakfast was soooo good.
Great location. Very clean rooms. Spacious. Breakfast was excellent. Very helpful employees. Will come back again to this location in the future. The price of the rooms were very reasonable for the amenities given.
I don't know if it's my imagination or if the mattresses have changed but I got into a bed that offered me a lovely, soft, squishy mattress! I was super psyched. The price is higher than you may find at other hotels closer to Mesa but the owners maintain the property quite well and it is a PERFECT location for me. I always request a first floor room, pool side so I can step out of my door and go straight to the pool. It's a pleasure.
Horrible experience with the lady running the place named Pat. She straight up hates animals, especially certified service dogs, people and pretty much anything with a heartbeat. She questioned her certs and requested her docs...not a problem, we carry those proudly as our service dog is exceptionally trained, however she wanted to see her “do what she's trained for”...well she detects epileptic seizures and I don't think that's a great trick nor an appropriate thing to ask to have demonstrated. Onto a further issue, while in our room “someone” walked through the hallway making a lot of noise and knocked on our door...I get that noise and such happen, that's a part of life. Our dog did bark at the door that was knocked on as any dog owner knows that's their job to communicate with us and protect us. Well no more than 30 seconds later, Pat called the room and I answered, the conversation started about our pup barking and she had stated she was left in the room the day before unattended and barked all day...not true, she was with us at the family ranch the day before. I explained that, then she stated she had complaints about her barking a few minutes ago...later discovered it was Pat who intentionally knocked on the door and was making the noise. She stated service dogs “don't bark”, my response to her is “do service dogs have their vocal cords removed, is this a suggestion” , Mazi was simply doing her job...Pat continued on with derogatory and false claims. I called my husband and he went to the office to discuss the issue with her. Long story short she doesn't like animals or service animals. She watched him leave in our truck to go to the ranch and within minutes was in the hallway making the noise and knocked on the door purposely so to her surprise when I answered the phone in our room she started in with her harassment. If you want to feel welcome with a service dog, please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. We decided to check out early and moved to The Hampton Inn and Suites in Gilbert where they absolutely loved and adored our pup and apologized for the treatment we received elsewhere. When my husband and pup left to head home before our daughter and I did (we stayed a bit longer) they all inquired as to “where is Mazi?” So it's not a service dog issue, the issue is with the wretched Pat who should never be in the hospitality business.
This is a beautiful, low key hotel. We were visiting family in San Tan Valley and Gilbert and at first thought the hotel was too far away, but after that first day it we realized that it was so accessible and easy to get to! The only negative I found is that there are very few restaurants near by (walking distance). The hotel was clean, quiet and very nice!
While front desk staff were very helpful, the management or ownership clearly do not care about this property. From the worn out rooms, extremely loud a/c units, horrible out of date customer office services and bad breakfast....this says it all. Stay somewhere else!
Let me start by saying I am in the hotel business. I have owned and operated many hotels over the last 35 years including 2 Best Westerns. I know every aspect of the business and every policy of BW. I booked a 9 day hotel stay through BW for this property. Upon check-in I notified the clerk that I may leave earlier than the 9 days and she noted it on my reservation. On the 7th day I stopped by the front desk at 6pm and told the clerk that “tonight” would be my last night and I would be checking out tomorrow. She appeared a little uncomfortable and stated that she would have to talk to management about it. She didn't go into detail but said she would have the manager call me in 10 minutes. The manager “Pat” whom I believe is actually the owner called my room and started explaining to me that since I did not give them 24hr notice that I was leaving early, she would have to charge me for another day. This property's “policy” goes against every check out policy of every franchised hotel in the USA, period. I argued with her about this for 2-3 minutes until I had had enough. Only when I told her that I currently own 7 hotels, one of which is a BW did she stop. I told her that if she charged me I would be on the phone with BW corporate in a heartbeat. She hung up on me immediately and I was not charged the extra day when I checked out. This is a very dishonest “manager” and makes me wonder how many other customers they have taken advantage of with this so called “policy”?
I struggled on whether to give this motel a 2 or 3 star rating. While the property itself is generally clean and well kept, it sits very close to highway 60, so there is some road noise. The problems are all related to service. The front desk staff is nice, but the housekeeping staff and management have issues. When I came back to my room to hit the swimming pool, as I was walking down the hall in my swimsuit and a coverup (holding a towel from my room) I was called out by a housekeeper who was about 20 feet behind me in the hallway. She asked if I had taken the towel from her cart. I told her I had not, and that it was from my room. Then, she demanded to know what room I was in. When I told her, she said that she hadn't cleaned that room yet. I replied that somebody had, because the bed was made. When it dawned on her that I was headed to the pool, she backed off. The next morning when I was washing my hair, I discovered that the dispenser for conditioner was completely empty. Lastly, there was a spider in the bathroom. When I called the manager of the hotel from the airport, in order to share this information, she claimed that she "couldn't believe" anyone on her housekeeping staff would confront a guest about taking a towel. She further explained that sometimes their dispensers don't work properly, so I shouldn't just assume that the conditioner dispenser was empty. She did, however, claim that she would look at the video surveillance tapes to see which housekeeper it was that confronted me. Frankly, any motel that has a problem with clientele stealing towels isn't somewhere I want to stay. Conversely, any hotel that scares their housekeeping staff into counting the towels to make sure they're all there isn't the place I want to stay, either. The conversation with the motel manager didn't provide many any assurances that things would improve, and instead sounded like a load of excuses. I won't stay at this facility again.
This is a beautiful facility. Just beware of making sure your reservation is what you expect it to be. Made our reservation on 02-11-19 for late arrival on 03-25-2019 and check out on 03-29-2019. Got to the hotel at 1:00 a.m. on the 26th to be informed they did not have our reservation starting until the 28th. Received a room for that night, but was told they could not accommodate the rest of our stay and they could not honor the rate that was quoted to us as it was a different type of room than what we requested.
I called for three days they were booked and finally a canellation came in. The staff went out of their way to make sure that everything was good. Absolutely a great staff. My room was spotless, and very comfortable. The location was great. A beautiful area with great views of supersticious mountain and the dinosoar one. if feel like a nice drive go to the lake and ride on the boat named dolly. Wow such a fabulous nature canyon boat ride with lots of history.
We only stayed one night, but I would have been happy to stay longer. There was a comfy bed and a great breakfast. If you're on the ground floor, as we were, and you get lucky to have a pool side room, you even get a small little patio to use. We sat there for our morning coffee and enjoyed the weather.
Was advertised way better then you get there and see this regular sized tub with jets!!! How the hell you supposed to have a nice romantic evening with your partner having to sit on the dam toilet watching you take a "spa bath"??!!! Ridiculous!
This hotel is located next to Highway 60, a lot of truck noise. Also we were there for 7 days, for 3 of the 7 days we either had no TV or local TV. The pool and hot tube water temperatures were nice, but again the pool is outside and we had the highway noise.
When this reservation was made though Best Western and we printed off the confirmation. Two were printed off 1 for two nights and 1 for the 5 remaining nights. We were told we had to move after the two nights as they had booked it for someone else and did not have another room. We showed our confirmations and it took awhile for them to find it, also during this time they were not very pleasant to us. We were giving another room by the highway which when we had maked the booking we asked not to be. We were handed ear plugs to deal with the noise and once again front desk staff were not pleasant. The hotel is lovely, but the staff were not very hospitable and made the stay awkward. I appreciate a request may not be honoured but the rudeness of the staff was really uncalled for.
We stayed here in February for the Lost Dutchman Half Marathon. It was a good staging area and home base for the race because the starting line was within a short drive from the hotel. Check-in was okay, but a little slow because there was a new front desk employee being trained. But the staff were friendly enough. Our friend and we had adjacent rooms on the ground floor with a view of the pool, which was convenient. Our bed was comfortable enough. The pillows were very small though. Bathroom had a great shower with very good water pressure. TV had the usual cable channels. Room also had a small microwave and fridge. The breakfast provided was very convenient and tasty. Eggs, sausage, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, etc. Coffee was decent. We used the hot tub after our race and it was quite nice and relaxing. It was too cold to try the pool. The patio out the back door of our room had a small table and 2 chairs for chatting. We would stay here again.
Clean and Best view with a balcony looking towards superstition mountains adjoining Rodeo Bar was quality pizza and perhaps handmade margaritas. Pool was lovely. Spent 4 nites in a quality hotel with a fair price.
It was very clean and nice. People at the desk we're always helpful. Decore was really nice. Inviting. Beds and pillows comfortable. Beautiful views.we could see the cactus and the distant mountains, watch the sunset.
Friendly and helpful staff. Room was nice cleaned very well. Breakfast was ready before time set. Nice breakfast with a helpful staff. Fitness center was nice and well maintained. Front desk people were polit and offered assistance with any problems.
I stayed at BW gold canyon from Feb 2- Feb 8. I was up in the air as there were no recent pictures and very few reviews but... Check in and out were a breeze. We arrived around 7:30 ish and were greeted by Katie who was very friendly and helpful. The Hotel was very clean and inviting. Breakfast was pretty good, eggs everyday with sausage or bacon. A couple days they also served gravy and biscuits. Also waffles, oatmeal ,bagels. The Rodeo lounge was fun but packed every night. We always got in around 7-7:30 and never a seat but had some form of entertainment every night. The drinks were good and the food was so-so. Everyone we encountered were very friendly. They also have 2 washers and 2 dryers with laundry soap for purchase at the front desk that was a perk. The price was a bit high but worth it. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
I am not sure what to write about here. We stayed here because the hotel is close to family. The room was fine (except for a stained pillow case, for which housekeeping blamed us when we brought it to their attention), the breakfast buffet was fine (basic breakfast fare), and the check-in/out process was fine. The lobby we had to pass through to get to our room smelled smoky due to the lounge, but it didn't impact our room. Due to location, we would stay here again. It was basically a place to sleep and brush our teeth.
First, I will say most of the staff was very friendly. The problem was, I called the day before arrival to ensure we were in a quite area. I was told we were pre booked into a king room overlooking the pool area where it was very quiet. When we arrived, I was told they overbooked the king rooms, which I had booked 2 weeks before! They said they moved us into a double queen room, facing the highway! I said no way I could sleep in that area. They said the best they could do was to move us to a room facing Walgreens. WELL, we may of well have been on the highway! Soooo loud! Tried turning the fan on in the room to cover noise, but even on low it was louder! Then to top it off, when my husband turned down the bed, there was somebody's tags from clothing in the sheets! I can't believe we were not compensated for this stay. $149 was very pricey for what we got!
We spent two nights here in mid-January while hiking in the Superstition Mountains. It was the closest motel we found to the trails we wanted to hike. The large room had two beds, desk/chair, frig, microwave, hairdryer, coffee maker. There was good counter space in the bathroom and big, fluffy towels. Per instructions for saving water, we hung ours up, and they were not changed. Some places say they'll do this but end up putting out new towels each day. Why give lip service to something you have no intention of following through on??? Instead of offering small bottles of shampoo, bath gel, and lotion, there were wall dispensers for these items. Unfortunately, one leaked on the counter and one appeared to be empty. We always carry spare items, so this was not a problem. I'm sure housekeeping would have remedied the issue had we reported it. There were recycle bins near the pool for paper and plastic but not for glass. A hot breakfast was offered each day, and it was delicious!! Items varied but included scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits/gravy, waffles, yogurt, cereal, sweet rolls, hard-boiled eggs, etc., etc.. Our only complaint was noise from the highway. Room 204 was on the back side of the motel, very near a busy road. We paid @$310 for our two nights. One night was @$157 and the other @$130. We would stay here again but would request a room away from the road.
Very clean, small hotel. Walgreens nearby. Full Breakfast is excellent, I like waffles for sure. parking is Ok, location is on the major Highway, Ghost Town nearby, must see! friendly staff. Heated pool
My family and I spent four nights at the Best Western in Gold Canyon with a room that had an excellent view of Superstition Mountain. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and functional. The mattresses were comfortable. The hotel property was clean and well organized. However, there were several issues which cause me to give only an average rating. We stayed during a rare Arizona cold spell and the thin blankets in the room were insufficient. The shower didn't provide hot water - only luke-warm. (The hotel management fixed the shower after our second night.) The hotel decor looked very out of date with 1990s-style furnishings. The room lighting was insufficient as well. The breakfast was very lack-luster. As someone who requires a gluten free diet, there were very few options for me.
While our decision to stay was unplanned our experience was good. Friendly staff, pleasant folks/locals at the lounge/bar. Room was comfortable. Would recommend this establishment for other's, and we'll definitely keep in mind for any future needs as well.
Very good. Clean, comfortable, VG breakfast. Staff very accommodating. Nice pool. As indicated, would stay again. Cannot add anything else at this time. Highly recommended. Have run out of complementary comments.
Since my accident a year ago, I need accommodations which have a walk in/roll in shower. I walk with a cane, but can no longer lift my leg to get into a shower over the tub. This room was excellent for folks who need accessible accommodations. The closet was low, and the "peep hole" in the door was low enough for me ( at 4'10") I cannot always see who is outside my door. Check in was smooth, there was covered parking (It gets hot in Gold Canyon) in the summertime! Internet connection was quite adequate. The breakfast was nice in a light and airy dining room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially to those who need an accessible room.
We dropped in en route to Phoenix without a reservation. Recommend this hotel. It was clean and quiet. Really enjoyed the stay. Staff was very gracious. Would recommend this to anyone traveling through as a good overnight stay.
In town for a family medical emergency, staff let us extend stay over phone. Value let us stay longer. Pool and breakfast were great. Wifi didn't work one night. No complaints Definitely will stay here again.
The staff was super rude. We were told different things different times and no one seemed to know what was going on. Totally unwilling to work with us, despite our issues being their fault in the first place. We received one story when we called to make reservations and another when we arrived.
The owners were extremely hospitable and did everything to make our stay comfortable! Before my retirement I traveled the world and have stayed in hundreds of hotels of all major hotel chains, most have adequate breakfast areas and this was on par however, I do not believe I have ever seen a breakfast area as clean and well maintained and it was that way every single day throughout my 9 day stay with them! The rooms were clean and well maintained. The housekeeping was excellent, and we felt safe and secure at this property. There was a small lounge located at the property and the staff there was very friendly, we ate there and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this property and will stay there again when I return to the area in September! This was a business stay for me and worked long days so I did not have the opportunity to take advantage of any of the hotel's amenities however I am sure that they are as well maintained as the rest of the property! P.S. There is a Walgreens across the parking lot, this was a plus for those that work late and need supplies, I also appreciated the reasonably priced items in the vending machine, many other hotels overcharge for this service....I was pleasantly surprised when I made my purchase from the machine.
Best Western Gold Canyon Arizona is well worth visiting. 2 Year's ago I posted a good review about this hotel with the exception of the lack of dining options located near the hotel. I was MISTAKEN. The hotel is very comfortable with a friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is included and is not the normal continental make your waffle breakfast. I'm talking bacon, eggs and hash browns one day and eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy the next along with fresh fruit! Where I made my mistake 2 years ago was not trying the bar and grill located 1/2 mile from this hotel called Wahoo. Burgers are very good and my wife's Caribbean salad was very good too. There is also another cafe around the corner but was closed. I'm guessing it was closed due to the Memorial Day holiday weekend but it sounded very good. Bottom line is that this hotel is very much worth a stay WITH easily accessible dining. We would definitely stay here again!
We have always stayed closer to Phoenix on our visits to Apache Junction in the past but this time went the other direction. What we found was a hidden surprise, beautifully kept up property and well decorated rooms at a good price and without the traffic hassles. This place even offers a certain number of covered parking spaces, a delight in the hot times of the year!
Friendly staff, clean, comfortable room.Decore was very nice.Covered parking was convient.Staff was helpfull,we weren't that familiar with the area. They suggested good places to eat.I would stay there again.
We spent 6 nights here. This is one of the best managed hotels we've stayed at in a long time. The decor is tastefully done and beautiful. The room and common areas were spotless. The breakfast was above average.
The Manager was very friendly and went to great lengths to make sure we had everything we needed. The hotel was very clean. The breakfast was very good. The southwestern theme in the lobby and second floor balcony was very relaxing.
Jackie V at the front desk was very helpful and accomadating. We have two small children, which can be frustrating and she was kind and patient and worked with us. Our children ages 4 and 8 can be difficult to deal with at times yet she handled their energy and mishaps with grace. Over all she was a great employee and made our stay very comfortable while we waited for our new apartment to be ready to move in. She is definitely an asset to the team. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable but Jackie V and the houseleeper Maria were stellar employees. Maria was maticulous when cleaning the room and was very sweet, despite the mess our children created. Maria went above and beyond what she needed to do and did a thorough job. You hear horror stories of hotels not getting properly cleaned but this is just not the case. The is the first hotel, out of hundreds that Ive stayed in, that I felt comfortable walking around in without shoes. And that is saying something. RETHA was also a stellar employees, not only does she have a great sense of humour but she went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and feel like home. I very rarely leave reviews but I was so impressed by the staff and hotel . If you are staying in the area, I highly recommend the best Western Gold Canyon. Thank you Jackie V, Retha, and Maria! If I ever need to stay in the area again. I will absolutely be staying here. Also, they have pool towels, which is a plus.
Great clean rooms, great breakfast and relaxing! Also has a nice pool and Vending machines. Walgreens is nextdoor.com and there's a lounge/bar on site with food like Burgers and Pizza. Good WiFi signal as well.
We had a family reunion picnic planned on May 5th, we had rented a ramada rented at Lost Dutchman State Park back in January. A few of us were camping there and many others were staying at the Best Western Gold Canyon. As the reunion got closer and closer, there was talk of upcoming record temperatures. it was becoming obvious that the picnic was going to be really uncomfortable for elderly family members, a family member on oxygen, a family member that is 8 months pregnant and several young children. On Thursday evening the 3rd, we contacted the hotel to see if any of the conference rooms they showed on their website were available to rent, we explained our situation. We were told that there were rooms available and that we would need to call back the next day and speak to Pinky. The people that were camping, changed their plans and got hotel rooms there instead. We called as instructed, Pinky determined that the room that breakfast is served in would be the best option for us. When we were asking questions about tables, chairs, etc. we also asked about a place to set up our "picnic" food. We were then told that outside food is not allowed and was very rude about it. Mind you, this is a BEST WESTERN, not a Westin. There is an attached bar that offers some food items but who in the world would fathom that food could not be brought into a conference room at a Best Western, with no full service restaurant. They said they have a relationship with a caterer. When asked it we could have it catered, she said she would have to ask the manager due to the late notice and she didn't think the manager would want to do it. She gave us the name of a club house at a trailer park down the street, the office was only open M-TH so we weren't able to get a hold of them. We called Pinky back again asking for her to please bend the rules, otherwise the nine rooms that were booked there may have to be cancelled, her response was a firm no, and told us that if we were going to cancel, we would need to do it before 4:00 on Saturday, she obviously could have cared less. I mean come on, we were going to eat sandwiches and some salads and spend the rest of the time visiting with each other. So, they would rather leave a room empty that could have been rented for 150.00 (for 3 hours) and have nine rooms cancelled. We contacted a local Mexican food restaurant (Los Gringos Locos) to see if they could accommodate our group of 30 for lunch...on Cinco De Mayo. They were very nice and got us all in so we didn't have to cancel our hotel reservations. But here we were with our salads already made and toted from the White Mountains, Tonto Basin, Tucson and Vail so we decided we would eat that stuff for dinner. There was a patio outside of the pool area that had 4 tables and chairs so we decided to do it there instead of trying to do it somehow in the rooms. We start putting our stuff out and notice a woman staring at us through the door that goes into the breakfast area. I just knew she was going to give us some kind of a problem. She opens the door and rudely says "are you all guests of the hotel?" We tell her that we are. Then she says "Are you having a wedding or something?" Mind you, we are all in shorts and tshirts. We tell her no, we are not having a wedding, we are eating dinner. She goes back into the breakfast room and continues to stare at us. It was so uncomfortable. Anyway, they are not helpful and are indifferent as to if someone stays at their hotel or not. The hotel itself and the rooms were nice enough and the person at the front desk that checked us in was pleasant. We were glad it all worked out without the help of the Best Western staff.
It was a nice suite with separate living room, jacuzzi tub and a little private balcony. It is an older place but it was kept up nicely and quiet. Breakfast was good the first morning but the second the yogurt machine was empty, potatoes were dried out and crusty. It was beautiful weather but you aren't allowed to take your breakfast outside on the patio or to your room to your own balcony.
I and a friend came here for a three night weekend stay from March 23rd to 25th in order to attend the nearby Arizona Renaissance Festival. At $601.10can, the room was expensive compared to other Best Western stays but we were willing to bite the bullet for the proximity to the Festival. We really admired the Southwest look of the building and decor of the lobby, not to mention, real, living cactuses twice our height, something neither of us had seen before in person. The room was typical size for a two queen, clean and had a cute little balcony. The windows all had shutters with narrow slats that let in little natural light but this is likely more of a feature than a bug as the sun is relentless during the day. The mountain view was gorgeous. We ate the complimentary breakfast all three mornings and it was better than average for this type of meal. They had texas toast for all three days, added peppers to the scrambled eggs one morning and offered turkey sausages another. This demonstrated an imagination we haven't found at other places. However, they offered either bacon or sausages each morning instead of both which I thought was chintzy. Having a Walgreen right next door was a life saver for picking up snacks, alcohol and forgotten items like sunscreen (how did I forget that!) as the hotel is it is out in a rural area. The staff was friendly but provided poor service which is why the rating is low. Because the hotel is so far away from anything that could be called urban life, I called ahead before booking the reservation to make sure we could get taxi service from the hotel to the festival and back to avoid drinking and driving. I don't know who I spoke to but they assured me, yes, taxis do service the area. Our first night I double checked that the front desk would be able to call a cab for us in the morning and she said, while she would be too busy, it would be a local call and therefore free, and handed me several cards. When I called each place the next morning, they informed me they were car services, it would be quite costly for a short trip down the road and I needed to book in advance. One of them was kind enough to give me the number to Yellow cab, which did agree to pick us up and said it would be about twenty minutes. Due to traffic, the pick up took about forty-five minutes with the cab driver contacting us frequently with updated ETAs. In the forty-five minutes we sat in the lobby waiting, the woman at the counter serviced a total of two parties of less than four people so she clearly could have called us a cab herself, a service I have never been denied at any other hotel. (At the Best Western in Castle Rock, Colorado they told us when we called to inquire about transportation to the Colorado Renaissance Festival we would need a car service in order to get to the festival and upon our arrival they called and booked it for us, no problem.) When the our first day at the festival ended, Yellow cab refused to return to get us. They told me they do not service that area and the nice gentleman that delivered us in the morning never should have agreed to take our fare. We went to the first official people we could see, which turned out to be the first aid personal, and they went above and beyond trying to find us a ride. No service, including Uber, would come and get us but they spoke to our hotel and a gentleman there (Eugene?) agreed to pick us up if we could not find alternate arrangements. We could not (and it turned out we were only one of several parties stranded by Yellow cab that day) so we called the hotel and were told the person we spoke to was gone home for the day and, basically, we were on our own. Special shout out to the lovely sheriff who took pity on us and kindly drove up back to the hotel. As we usually do when attended these festivals, the second day we drove ourselves and limited our drinking. Upon returning to the room, we discovered it had only been partially cleaned. My friend's bed was made, mine was not. The towels were replaced but not the toilet paper or the plastic glasses and our bath mat was missing. The empties were gone but the wastebasket was still full. We called down and the woman on desk duty offered to take care of it. We were tired and didn't wish to have someone bustling around the room as we were trying to relax. Instead I went downstairs and got the missing items myself. Worst of all, about four dollars in change I had wrapped in a plastic bag and buried in my luggage, since there was no safe, was missing, something I didn't discover until I returned home and unpacked. Good thing the rest of our valuables were locked up in the rental. When we checked out the next day, before the check out time of eleven, the woman at the desk refused to give me a final statement. She told me the system had already checked us out and she could not recall the statement. This was not our experience at the Best Western in Castle Rock, Colorado or the Best Western in Shakopee, Minnesota (stayed while attended the Minnesota Renfest and they had free shuttle service to the festival!). I have since checked and they did not add any fraudulent changes to my stay but I do not like not having a final statement for my records. These things did not ruin our trip but they did ruin our hotel stay so I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel.
I was expecting nicer for $250. It's old, the water just trickles out of the faucet, and the air conditioner is one of those wall units that pipes uneven air in the room. Ours made a loud thunck every time it switched from fan to AC. The bed was nice and firm though. And the bruch was abysmal.
Bw always confirms its awful standards..300usd stay for a dirty room. Bed was half made..hair, dust and paper behind the sofa and under the tables. 3 out of 5 lights not working. Staff not interested in the guests needs and requests.
We had trouble with the price we were quoted when we called for reservations, we called in January for these reservations. There was someone's shampoo and hair in my shower and was fine until I saw the previous persons towel on the back of the door. Very disappointed in the stay.. Very convient location for us with our bikes but having second thoughts for next time. Years past no trouble but the lady at the desk was not there last yr and she was very unprofessional, and very disrespectful.
Spent 3 days at the BW Gold Canyon and loved it. The décor of the property is so welcoming and southwest. The rooms are decorated with nice touches of Southwest décor and each one features a porch or patio. The best rooms are the ones which look into the swimming pool area or out to the Superstition Mtns. The rooms to the South and the West look out to the roadway or the parking lot of Walgreens. The South facing rooms will have more roadway noise if you are a light sleeper, tho it tapers off late in the evening. The pool area is nice with outdoor pool and spa, plenty of chairs and a patio outside the breakfast room where you can sit outside and enjoy the morning and eat breakfast. Breakfast items varied each day and Tuni the staff person was very helpful. All staff were very helpful.
The rooms were spacious and the cooling system was both efficient and quiet. The breakfast was good and plentiful and it varied from day to day which we enjoyed. There was live entertainment at the hotel lounge but we never stayed around to enjoy it because we were on a tight schedule. Getting to the hotel from the airport was easy as was access to many of the area's attractions.
We stayed here so we could get an early start at the Arizona Renaissance Fair. 5 minutes away. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean (suite). The decor was wonderful. The breakfast was, well, just like any other breakfast you'd get at any hotel. We will be back next year.
A great hotel with great service. An excellent breakfast with variety from day to day. Rooms with a pool side entrance as well as hall entrance. Clean and a friendly staff. Close to places to eat and places to visit.
I would highly recommend this motel for two important criteria. It is a pet free motel which is critical in keeping a room clean as well as suitable for some who are allergic to pet hair etc. a lot of motels have become very lax in being pet free. The very least they need to do is to have pet free rooms if they do allow pets. The room was spotless, very clean. The breakfast was top notch - I especially liked the fresh fruit. I would highly recommend this motel and will certainly stay there again if in the area.
We stayed here because it was close to our friends RV park. I could not believe there was no safe in the room! The Walgreens is next door which is handy. Other than the pub there isn't too much else close by. The breakfast was okay. Room was clean. It was a little cool out but we sat by the pool, hot tub could use some maintence.
My wife and I recently moved from CT to AZ and stayed at the Best Western Gold Canyon while we had modifications done to our recently purchased home. As a wheelchair bound traveler, I prefer BW as they have the best accessible rooms. I have to say that BW Gold Canyon was the very best hotel I've ever stayed at. The room was spotlessly clean, everything worked perfectly and it was very well maintained. The best part was the staff. Pat and Ed went out of their way to make our stay a very pleasant experience and the support staff was very helpful and courteous. The included full breakfast was excellent and served hot and fresh I highly recommend this facility.
Stayed 4 nights for our annual spring golf getaway. Very clean room and bathroom. Was very happy with the staff's friendliness and speed of check in/out. Very good breakfast choices that changed daily in a nice cafe setting. The lady that took care of the breakfast area was wonderful and kept the area clean and the food hot. Thanks BW, we will be back next year.
Stayed here for the Lost Dutchman Marathon and love the hotel. Rooms are nice with comfortable beds. We had a balcony which was very pleasant for relaxing. Staff was friendly and helpful. The marathon finish / shuttle is in Apache Junction so from a logistic standpoint it would have served us better to stay closer to the event as Highway 60 can be stop and go. Still this was a very nice hotel.
$$$$$$$$$$ 1st, people 2nd. Rooms were excellent, there was no leniency when I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. A $200 room for only 8 hours. Management does not seem to care for the misfortuned, if this gets to them please help the working man out.
Spacious room, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, cute balcony, many items for breakfast, Hotel well looked after, nice desert decor. Friendly staff. There was a bar on site but we didn't check it out.
Nice clean rooms. Really appreciated nice bathroom counter space. Breakfast were change through the week. Quiet location even with the highway nearby. Nice to have the lounge attached where we could get food and beverage too. Kind of disappointed that the room rates went higher on Wednesday.
We stayed four nights and found that this hotel met all our needs at a reasonable price. There were both pros and cons about the facility but the pros won out. The pros were a comfortable bed, a good shower, a decent breakfast and a very clean room.. The cons were a stuffy room that needed the fan to run all night or the room got too warm. The same hot food each day at breakfast (bacon would have been a nice change from the sausage) and a yellow jacket nest right next to the hot tub that kept us away as they kept buzzing us, oh and the pool that is supposed to be heated was too cold to use. Food, sleep and cleanliness are the most important thing which was handled okay hence the 4 star rating. The pool and hot tub issues were not that important so didn't affect the rating. If we are in the area again staying here would be a no brainer.
I really enjoyed my break here over Christmas. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and the room was large, super clean and well maintained overlooking the beautiful Superstition Mountains nearby. The pool area was also great and very relaxing. I will definitely be re-visiting.
We've stayed at this Best Western multiple times on winter trips to the Superstition Mtns area during the Christmas holiday season. Extremely convenient location for easy access to Lost Dutchman State Park, Goldfield, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, etc. Great pool area, quiet rooms with comfy beds. Breakfast has improved from previous stays...always a bonus!
Beautifull place. Looks good with great views of the mountains. Very clean, very quiet and a nice breakfast, too. Loved the western decor! Besides the breakfast room in the morning, there are other areas to relax. We are planning to come here again!
Room was great - comfortable bed, plenty of space. Breakfast was good, front desk staff were very friendly. Heated pool and hot tub were a great plus. Really like the "south-west" decor as well. Nothing negative to say!
The manager of this hotel blamed us for their confusion regarding our reservations and accused us of “being a no show “ after our two night stay and attempted to charge us an additional fee. There was never an apology for their confusion. Only a statement made by the staff “this is not my fault!”
We saw all of our friends and had lots of time with them. It is very easy to get to where they are living. We enjoy your hotel very much. Hope to come again next year. We needed the handicap room and it was great!!!!
Let me start by saying if you're wanting to stay here since it is in Gold Canyon and closer for you than Mesa, don't! This hotel could be diamond in the rough but instead it was absolute nightmare for my family as well as my sisters. My wife and kids checked into the hotel in the lobby and proceeded to stay there for 3 nights. I checked out on our last morning and everything was fine but about 2 hours later I received an email with video surveillance of my wife and children (11&12) stating that my card had been charged additional fees because they incorrectly charged for only 2 occupants. I called but the manager Pat was too busy and then never returned my call so I emailed them explaining that we checked in as 4 not 2 but she replied they need to cover their expenses. I cannot believe the audacity of this woman sending surveillance pictures of us and my children over the internet and charging us extra fees after our departure like we were convicts. We have since contested the charges but who wants to deal with this type of nonsense while on vacation visiting family in Gold Canyon. My sister stayed in the room next to us and had similar issue where they booked the room over the phone with the clerk for a particular rate but upon checkout the manager insisted that was an incorrect rate and then proceeded to change their bill to a higher rate. They have also contested the charges since they have email confirmation. The room was okay but the linens were seriously outdated (but you can purchase for ~$200 lol). The pillows were terrible and we all had stiff necks after we slept here. Every morning I had to go search for extra towels so apparently they suffer some sort of shortage. We are not early risers so we never made the 9am cutoff to eat their breakfast and there was no coffee offered anywhere after that time. I'm sharing this because we really do not want friends and families of Gold Canyon or the surrounding golfing community to have to experience this type hassle while on vacation. I really am not concerned about the money but this is not the way you treat customers if your struggling to cover overhead. Raise your rates. Extremely rude and unprofessional!
my son and I were in az for 5 nights to prepare for parents arrival in apache juntion home. when we came across the best western, the property was clean, friendly, super breakfast, along with a bar and grill attached. highly recommend
Being a hotel owner there are certain things I notice now in other hotels that I wouldn't before. I can not say enough about the great amenities and staff. Everything was well clean, along with a great bar and grill attached to the hotel. See you next time.
This hotel had a great breakfast but never refilled the oatmeal :-(( The bed was very comfortable but the lotion and shampoo were both empty. It also felt like the room was unfinished or needed more decorations.
Can't say I enjoy staying here - the room is clean but the A/C is very loud. The front desk sent a rollaway bed upon my request but charged a fee at check out without revealing the cost upfront. Overall, I feel that the front desk staffs need to be trained or find another job. No caring, not friendly. Very snobbish and trying hard to nick-and-dime the customers. My key expired at 9:30am. At re-key, I was told because we were leaving that day and sometimes the key expired early - The check out time is 11am. They heat pool and hot tub is nice amenity but finding pool towels is another story. I am a member of two other hotel chains. If this is the way Best Western runs their hotels, they will not be getting my business.
This is a good place but not an excellent place. Staff was sort of friendly. Check out lady was a little grumpy. There was no “hope you had a great stay” just a mumbled thanks...sort of. It was a good location on the east side of PHX.
A one night stay as we visited our son and family watching ball game participation comfortable beds, good water pressure in shower, close to our relatives, beautiful views of the Superstition Mountains clean rooms and public areas Away from hustle and bustle of Phoenix WILL DEFINITELY RETURN
Our first visit to this hotel. It appeared to be new and was very nice. The staff was very helpful with information and directions. Very convenient to Superstition Mountain areas. There were excellent restaurants within a mile or two. Would certainly recommend DJ's Fairway Grill. Good food and drinks at a fair price.
Absolutely the best place to stay! My husband and I have stayed in a lot of different hotels/ motels and this was by far the best! The ladies at the front desk were very helpful in answering our questions and pointing out interesting things to do!
Was the best in the area for what I needed, clean, close to the project I was working on, price was good, one of the better Best Western's I've been at since the ownership pattern changed after the '70's, close to good food.
Very spacious room and bathroom. An added bonus is an outside balcony where you can sit and enjoy the mountains of the Superstitions. The beds provided a great night's sleep especially with four pillows and a quiet hotel. The complimentary breakfast was full of carbs, and a variety of fresh fruit. Eggs and sausage were available although The eggs lacked an authenticity of fresh eggs.
Spent a week here while clearing out storage sheds in area. Staff and service was superb!! Even though it was a sad event for being there, this hotel was over the top for being a welcoming sight to stay at!
We have been to Apache Junction about ten times and have used the Best Western nine times. We tried a golf resort one time and just didn't get the same attention. We have family offering us to stay with them but the Best Western service and accommodations just keep us coming back.
Stay here for Labor day weekend and really had a good experience duringmy stay with my family. Location is a bit isolated but I don't like very populated areas ayway so this was perfect. Rooms are very clean and the decor is very nice. Breakfast was actually very good will stay here again next time I'm back in Arizona.
Pleasant staff, neat and clean hotel. Friendly guest services. Breakfast (included) was more robust than typically seen at comparable hotels at this price point. No issue with the rooms. Error made in booking either from Expedia or the hotel (I never found out where the error happened) meant that I had to pay a small additional fee during check-in. (I booked a room with 2 queen beds but the hotel had me down for a single king so I had to pay an additional fee to get the room I booked). Walgreen's located right next door which offers affordable amenities and a quick grab and go snack for after hours. A few restaurants in the area which are within 1-10 minutes driving distance. Covered area in the parking lot if you want to park your vehicle in a shaded area away from the mid-summer Arizona sun. Had stayed at this hotel a year prior. Very happy with the establishment and would definitely stay there again.
Worse stay EVER!!! We booked our room and our son's and his soon to be wife's room in February of this year. Upon arrival we were rudely informed that they did not book our son's room. We booked the rooms for the wedding that was taking place that weekend. I was so upset because Jackie, front desk manager, informed me that they did not have a room for the soon to be bride and groom. I provided proof of payment and the reservation. Still did not fix their error. Jackie left it for the night person to take care of it. Also, she informed me that our room was not ready and I understood that because it was 1:00 p.m., and check in was not until 3:00 p.m. I signed all the appropriate information and provided my card to Jackie. The wedding party ladies all went to have our nails done for the wedding. My husband called me because our room was ready, but the night receptionist did not have any of our information, nor did Jackie leave her with any of our son's information regarding their room. Completely ridiculous and absolutely horrible. My husband had to provide his information, yet I had already provided my card for everything. Get back to the hotel after our prearranged nail appointment and our son's room was right next door to ours. So not cool. Worse weekend hotel stay ever!!! No acknowledgment for Jackie's behavior, rude attitude, and Jackie had the worse memory ever!!! The next day still no apology from her for her screw up. Best part of the weekend was the beautiful wedding that took place at the Superstition Mountains.
The rooms were nice and clean ... my husband and I stayed there 2 days for my brother's funeral last week . There was one woman that took tickets for breakfast that was very rude.. she treated us like criminals. Never have we had to have tickets for breakfast that was marginal. Also, only had one half roll of toilet tissue when we arrived in our room .. husband ask the same lady if he could have a roll off the cleaning cart since we were out.. she ask rudely what our room number. Like we were going to steal a roll of toilet tissue . Then the next day after we returned from the funeral .. went to take a shower. Only had one used wash cloth, 2 used towels, no hand towels, one half used bar soap, the container for shower soap was completely out. When I called for more wash cloths and hand towels they brought right down, there excuse was new employee.. they need to retrain personal. Will never stay there again. I
I had a not so good experience with the people at the front desk concerning my payment transaction and debit card that affected my stay and overall peace on my vacation, however they did finally fix the mistake. I really enjoyed the quality of the room, location and overall atmosphere during our stay. I did envision the pool being a little more flashy but it was very basic, I didn't feel like it was any different than a rec pool back at home. I have always loved and enjoyed BW and if you consider their business you will most likely love it!!
The staff there were courteous and pleasant to deal with when we saw them. We were in and out of most of the day but came back to a clean room which great. Nice breakfast which had a very nice selection. The location is about 45 minutes from the airport and has some beautiful hikes in the area.
Worst experience ever! The night receptionist was a racist and singled me out as I was the only African American guest staying at the property. She required me to show ID at breakfast but didn't require the same from other guest (if she wasn't the same person that checked me in upon my arrival I may not have given to much thought to it). She then referred to me to as the "Black Guy". When I told management of this their response was she is new to the country. So I guess that's ok with management. So I guess African Americans are not welcomed at Best Western.
The views are beautiful! Our room is always clean. Good breakfast. Comfy bed and great AC!! It's peaceful and good wifi. Also ggeres a little computer room you can use. Nice bar/lounge. We had a burger that was really good from there.
I spent two days at this facility for a business meeting. On the first day, the woman at the hotel desk was so shockingly rude I was stunned. Then, a woman I believe to be the franchisee or possibly the manager, came into the meeting room to follow it up with more outrageously rude behavior in front of everyone attending the meeting. And this was not an isolated incident. As the day progressed, I learned that various participants in the meeting were also met with rudeness by these same people. In all seriousness, their conduct was so stunningly inappropriate (especially in a service industry) that it can't adequately be described it in a brief comment. I'll be contacting Best Western HQ directly. Also, I can't comment on the rooms, but the conference rooms were marginal, at best.
Clean and quiet, great customer service. Check in and out was fast and easy. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Room was clean and stocked. Perfect location for our trip to the Salt River. Will definately stay here when qe go again.
Great location to stay on farthest east side of Phoenix off of route 60- helps avoid morning rush hour if you are traveling eastbound! Turn on the fourth (and last) traffic light in Gold Canyon if you are eastbound.
We had a pleasant stay here. Our spacious, comfortable room faced the courtyard and swimming pool. It was nice to sit outdoors on our patio, and read and relax. The motel also has a bar with good beer. And they offer a decent complimentary breakfast in the morning. Our only complaint is that the coffee in the room was terrible, even compared to standard motel room coffee. It was so bad we couldn't drink it. Maybe something was wrong with the coffee maker.
One of the best hotels we have stayed at for the price. The staff was very good and very helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The pool area and fitness room are both well maintained and inviting.
Good, modern and updated hotel, very clean other than a little mold issue around the tub enclosure but not serious. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Pricing was average for this type of hotel. Pool and Hot Tub were well maintained. Good location to see sites in a 75 mile general area.
The Manager and her staff were very nice and they went out of their way to take care of me. The pool and hot tub were great. Breakfast was like most but very good with hot food...fruit and coffee and OJ. I would definitely stay here again!
This hotel needs a great deal of updating. Rooms seemed dark and dingy. The fitness center doesn't open until 9 am, rather late if you need to check out. The selection of breakfast items was considerably poor in quality.
Clean functional property, conveniently located near a state highway but without the accompanying noise you might expect. Suitably appointed with microwaves and refrigerators this property is OK for 1 night stay in the area. However we had a bad experience with the management. A relative mistakenly checked into the hotel to attend a wedding in the area, not realizing they had a reservation at another venue. They did not enter or take possession of their room but were denied a credit to their debit card. I will never again book with Best Western as there is no corporate responsibility; only franchisors who take advantage.
Passing through. Wish we could have stayed longer. Such a beautiful area with great hiking trails that we would have liked to take. We only had time to take 1 hike so we didn't get to see the hieroglyphics but maybe next time!
My boyfriend and I came here March 26-31 for spring break. We were visiting my parents staying nearby. Lovely hotel , clean and comfy bed. Only downfall was a very rude lady at check in time. I inquired about a safe and she didn't say much and seemed like I was an inconvenience asking about it.My suggestion is for the manager to have a staff meeting and review the way staff deal with customers.
Many choices for breakfast. We stayed here several times with our two granddaughters. They did not charge us for the children. We all very much enjoyed the swimming pool. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Gold Canyon, as well as our grandchildren. It is a great place to get the two granddaughters (CA & AZ) together do spend the night and have some time with both families.
We recently stayed at the Best Western in Gold Canyon. The rooms were clean and they serve a hot breakfast with many items. There is tavern attached to the motel so you can get food and drinks. Also there is a Walgreens that adjoins the parking lot for any items that you may need.
This is a conveniently located hotel for visiting the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and the Lost Dutchman Park. It has quality employees, is clean, and serves an excellent complimentary breakfast. However, if you get the handicapped room on the first floor, don't expect a comfortable mattress. Also, the air conditioner was noisy. That I can live with but the mattress needs to be replaced!
We stayed here 2 years ago and the stay was marginal. This time the stay was horrible. Staff were unfriendly. Our room was very noisy. When I asked to move at 9:30pm due to mouse, I was told maybe later. Finally we moved to a room with a broken safety latch on the door. When I reported the broken latch, it was removed entirely, leaving us feeling not so safe at night. The first floor room was noisy again. Staff refused to move us to a second floor room. We will never stay here again!!! Skip this dump and look at other Best Western locations for a friendlier, safer, and quite atmosphere.
This hotel is very clean and has a great staff. Also great breakfast. The scenic view from the hotel of the Superstition Mts is great. Also great eating places near by. Gold Canyon Golf Resort. There are lots of things to do in the area. Also hiking and just looking at the pretty scenery of the mountains.
The staff, room and all surrounding areas of hotel was very clean and appealing. The staff was always very helpful, each and every time I approached them for information about surrounding area or hotel accommodations. The price was very fair and competitive for surrounding area.
Very poor customer service. Management is quite uncooperative and unresponsive. Ignored issues and would not return calls to try to make things right. As Diamond member with Best Western, and Platinum with Marriott and Sheraton, I stay in hotels very frequently. I DO NOT recommend this hotel for any reason! And God forbid - do not ask to check out at 1:00 - they will charge you for an entire extra night!
In my fantasy world, I would love to live in a place where I could open my front door and have a pool and hot tub just like this! I always choose the first floor, pool side so I can walk out of my room for a swim and a soak.
Really lovely hotel, rooms very clean and quiet, great spacious modern bathroom. The pool was really lovely, had it to ourselves. Can walk to Walgreens to grab an ice cream. Also the bar on the property does nice little pizzas which the kids enjoyed by the pool. Nice friendly staff in particular the breakfast lady. Only problem the bed was so hard it did our backs in, they need a nice topper, couldn't come back because sleep quality not great although I spose some people like a firm bed. Great stay though overall, especially for the pool to relax which was what we came for after a hectic stay in LA.
Very pretty hotel. Great breakfast! Very clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location in Gold Canyon. Stayed 6 nights, visiting family nearby. Quiet surroundings. Located close to freeway. Very happy with choice.
On July 8th around 8pm I called 480-671-6000 for reservation concerns. I spoke with a young lady. I explained that I am currently attending school to obtain my Master's degree and it was imperative for me to have access to wi fi. I was told there would not be any problem at all with early check in and what time would I like to be there. We agreed on the time and I confirmed again that if this was any sort of problem I would stay home and complete my work prior to coming to the hotel. She told me no, it was not a problem at all. I then explained we had a small service dog and that I had put this in on my reservation, but wanted to make sure they were aware. Again, I was told no problem. She further told me she would place a note on the account so that others would be aware. When I arrived at the agreed upon time, I was told it would cost an additional $45.00 cost for early check in. I was taken back at this additional fee. I explained I had had a very detailed conversation with the staff and this was never brought up to me. She told me she had not choice and did not know who told me that. I paid the money, but do not feel it was appropriate due to the fact I had told the staff I would stay home to complete my work if it was needed. Furthermore, I explained I was writing a formal complaint about this issue and I wanted to know who to contact. The employee was not very helpful with this information and told me to take one of the cards. However, the card did not have a contact name. Additionally, I was told that my service dog had to be contained in our room due to allergy concerns. I would like to like to include Arizona state law: A. Any person or entity that operates a public place shall not discriminate against individuals with disabilities who use service animals if the work or tasks performed by the service animal are directly related to the individual's disability. Work or tasks include assisting individuals who are blind or have low vision with navigation and other tasks, alerting individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to the presence of people or sounds, providing nonviolent protection or rescue work, pulling a wheelchair, assisting an individual during a seizure, alerting individuals to the presence of allergens, retrieving items such as medicine or the telephone, providing physical support and assistance with balance and stability to individuals with mobility disabilities and helping individuals with psychiatric and neurological disabilities by preventing or interrupting impulsive or destructive behaviors. The crime deterrent effects of an animal's presence and the provision of emotional support, well-being, comfort or companionship do not constitute work or tasks.
A very nice cool place to stay that was close to town but far enough to be way for the city sounds. We were traveling thought to CA. and need to have a place to stay for the night. Do to the fact that we stay In Best Western when traveling, it was our first choice. The Breakfast was a good way to start the day, many choices to choose from , Hot food , cold cereal , Waffle , good coffee. The Breakfast room was nice and clean and the food was nicely displayed. Our Host was there if we needed anything. I would stay here next time we come through.
Great motel. Really clean, nice, wonderful staff, super breakfast. They step it up at this motel. Great value. One can tell that they really care at this motel. I love Best Western and this is a perfect example of why.
This hotel was well run with nice clean big rooms (we stayed in the double queen room). The property is well maintained with pretty landscaping. The staff are so friendly and helpful! It is very accessible from Highway 60. The parking lot at night is well light. We felt very safe and comfortable during our stay.
We just stayed at this gem in the Phoenix area. We paid a few dollars extra and got a first floor poolside room. What a pleasure. The room is clean and very nice. We had a door leading to the patio, that faces the pool area. The breakfast was also great. No complaints from us. We wish we could stay here longer.
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Pool and hot tub were clean and refreshing. The Rodeo lounge located inside the hotel is nice with friendly staff and a somewhat limited menu. Only downside to this hotel is the lack of nearby restaurants. That being said, this hotel offers a full breakfast which includes waffles, sausage, eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, breads and cereal. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend to family and friends.
We stayed in Gold Canyon on a recent trip to Phoenix for our niece's graduation from ASU. We wanted a quiet location within easy driving distance of family. We had stayed in Gold Canyon on previous trips, and found this hotel to be a reasonably priced alternative to high priced resorts. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and quiet. We enjoyed a king, poolside room with a nice little outdoor patio. The bed was comfortable, the room was nicely appointed. The breakfast was surprisingly good with something for everyone. We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay at this property again.
A great place to stay if you are hiking the surrounding mountains and wish a reasonable alternative to the high priced gold canyon resorts. Perfect choice for me as I stayed there to be near friends. Nice room, good staff, clean, reasonable price. A the BASE of the superstitions, no traffic. Gold Canyon is a RV town and resort town. A far cry from Apache Junction (The meth capital of Arizona). A welcome alternative to staying in Mesa, which requires a drive on a busy highway to get to the Supersitions.
This hotel was Clean and the staff was pretty friendly. The pools and spa was nice with plenty of tables and chairs and lounge chairs. Pretty quiet surroundings. The room was a really nice size, with a desk, microwave, refrigerator, full length mirror, small coffee pot and soap, lotion, shower gel and shampoo dispensers are a nice touch. Nice patio with a view of the pool.
We travel to Gold Canyon often and always stay at the Best Western in Gold Canyon. It's an extremely clean and comfortable place to stay and the staff is very nice and accommodating. It also have a great view from your private patio. Breakfast is better than your basic hotel breakfast.
Used Best Western Points. Most locations charge 10M to 15M points per stay. 25-32M at this location. Very well decorated and comfortable room. Located across the parking lot from our meeting so booked for convenience more than value.
This is one of my favorite hotels. This was the 6th or 7th time I have stayed here. Will be back same time next year for the last 2 days of the Faire. My room this year was great, overlooking the pool vs. I60. Pool & Spa were very nice & clean. Pool heated in the cool evening was great. Breakfast buffet had a number of great morning item to select from.
we stayed in the Suite they offered, and the cleanliness and comfort were right on top of them all! The room was spotless, and the service was very pleasant. We went down to the in hotel bar was hosting Karaoke and let me tell you that was something really wonderful, the singers were very good, most seniors, and most were REALLY good! It made for a fun evening for us! We ate there, and it was fairly inexpensive and hit the spot.
3rd time to this location, never disappointed. Nice and clean, nice staff. son used the pool, it was heated and not crowded. Breakfast included. Will continue to frequent. No complaints. Good size room.
Great staff and extremely clean! You could pay more going somewhere else, but it met all our needs! The Rodeo restaurant is not fancy, but the food is good and the beer is cold! Didn't use the pool, but the kids that were in it looked like they were have a fun time!
This is a great property with nice upgrades. Pool and spa area were beautiful, and the breakfast area provided outdoor seating. We would definitely stay at this hotel again when we are in the area. The laundry facility was very nice as well. Very clean and comfortable stay.
clean, no odors- great front desk staff a real nice place. We will stay there again. We found no issues to complain about and the staff are very helpful If we return to the area we will stay here again. Our visit was three days so we had a good feel of the place
Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. would stay there again We found everyone to be very helpful and pleasant. The room was very comfortable and clean. Thanks to the managers for making our stay very pleasant.
To add to Heather's review, and Sylvia's response - This is not about reversing a fee. This is about being a disabled person partnered with a service dog, visiting a guest in your hotel for approximately 20 minutes. This is about being told lies about the service dogs' behavior. This is about locking a non-disabled guest out of her room because of that short visit by her mother with a service dog. This is about berating both your hotel guest and the disabled person in the lobby of your hotel. This is about your apparent acceptance of management under the Best Western name yelling at customers (due to the presence of a service animal) in front of others. This is about clear violation of the ADA and discrimination - a lack of knowledge of the ADA and what to ask a disabled person with a clearly labeled service animal, as the law only permits the hotel to ask two questions of the disabled person. Be assured that with Best Western's continued insistence that this disabled person announce her presence even though she wasn't a hotel guest, and continued lack of edification of the ADA as well as common decency in how to treat customers, a formal ADA complaint will be filed.
Next beautiful mountains ... Me and my husband enjoy so much pool...nice hotel, charming, clean and safe ...? my first time in Gold Canyon. It was to go to fair event, loved the hosting make my recommendation!
My mother walked in the hotel with a certified service dog, through the front doors, came to my room stayed for 20 minutes and then we left briefly talking to the housekeeper in the hallway. Get back to the hotel at 11pm and my key doesn't work go to the front desk not thinking anything of it but ended up being locked out bc they were notified there was a dog in my room who ran into another room and tried to attack someone. (funny thing is they called us earlier in the day for a billing address they could have easily asked about said dog on that phone call instead of this whole ordeal) My mom who was not staying in the hotel came back when I told her the situation and the fee that was now being imposed on us. She came back found out the manager wasn't there and asked for the manager to come back. In comes Pat immediately defensive and nasty talking about how "first of all" we need to announce that there's a service dog. Explained to her to review her security footage and see when my mom walked though the front doors to see her looking for front desk staff not seeing any she continued to walk to my room. Told Pat about the ADA and how she can't demand that of us. She yelled at us, like literally yelled at us about how we HAVE to say something when we enter into an establishment. (if she knew the ADA she would know this is just a courtesy it is not a must and it is discriminatory to make such demands) I then asked Pat to look at the demeanor of the dog and she yelled at us again "are you saying my house keeper is a liar". Told her to look at the dog and make her own judgment and to review her footage and see if what she was told really happen. Over all, she yelled at us, for about 20 minutes, literally yelled at us. Until she reversed the charge. Thing is, for me, it's not only about the fee, how this woman gets away treating people so horribly is beyond me. Corporate needs to do something!! We will obviously be reaching out not only about her treatment to us (especially considering I was the hotel guest and not my mom), but about her discrimination towards us for being disabled and also for lack of knowledge of the ADA. I wish I could say I wouldn't stay here again, being as its the only hotel in the area many of us don't have a choice. If anyone from best western feels like contacting me in return please feel free, I have been waiting for days to hear from someone in corporate.
We were going to the Ren Fest just down the road. This motel is ideally located to get an early start at the Festival. There was more than sufficient parking, which is a must. The facility was very clean and the room was in excellent shape. The are many other amenities nearby. The bar was crowded, but nice for a motel bar. Seems that a lot of locals go to the bar. Overall, I would certainly recommend this Best Western
St aff was very helpful breakfast was great staff recommendation on restaurants and places to visit was very helpful for my family THxs for booking my next destination next time in the area Will stay here again service was great
Very nice stay overall. The rooms were nice size and clean. The pool and Jacuzzi were very nice and clean. The Rodeo bar at the hotel had live music and friendly help. The complimentary breakfast had a full menu, the presentation was good and replenished the whole time.
Great Palce for the Renfaire - would be even better if had shuttle service to the fair - Very Clean - pillows could be better but other than that highly recommend - Rodeo Lounge was good place to relax
Due to a vehicle breakdown on Hwy 60 east of Apace Junction, I unexpectedly came to stay at this hotel. We prefer Best Western hotels and this one exceeded my expectations. The staff were kind and helpful, given my situation. The hotel is very clean, nicely decorated and has beautiful views. The lounge was very relaxing. Interesting mix of golfers, families, and mining professionals staying here. Highly recommend.
Have stayed at the hotel foe years. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Close to venue we visit. Lots of places to eat and drink. Clean rooms. Quiet location. Will return year after year. Staff is very respectfully to costumed Ren Faire revelers!
This was a great stay!! Staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were large and clean, air conditioning worked well, the pool was clean, breakfast good with fresh fruit, plenty of towels, restaurant/lounge good. awesome !!
We picked this hotel because we were visiting the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and it was close and available. Very pleased with our choice. Nice balcony outside room with a view of Arizona landscaping. Comfortable, clean, safe area. Good breakfast array, very accommodating and friendly staff.
They make me cut my breakfast short so they could cleanup the room - shut off the TV right in the middle of me watching it without a word and when I questioned about it I was told they were 'anxious for me to go'! Soooo, I did, and will never come back. You shouldn't go there either! They don't care about the customer at all and express that sentiment very clearly. I've never spent >$300 for two rooms and in just one night become come so irritated I couldn't wait to leave nor to leave a scathing review... never again to this place!
Good location, easy access to Apache Junction, Globe, the mountains. Room was fine, breakfast was typical motel fare, lounge is attached and staff very attentive. I made a mistake on my reservation but the front desk quickly found the error and corrected it so our trip was not interupted.
Our check-in receptionist was fantastic, even taking the time to walk us to the local business brochure rack to discuss area attractions that she thought would be of interest!! Only 1 other time in years of hotel stays has a receptionist gone so far out of their way to welcome us and try to assist us with making our trip more fun and exciting! Heated outdoor pool was a fantastic bonus!!
Made reservation for 2 nights. Had emergency and left after one night. I still got charged for 2 nights even after explanation. I learned that they could not rent the room because our sheets were not changed. NO SYMPATHY. I will never stay at this hotel again
This was a very reasonably priced hotel for our Spring Break. We needed a place that was close to Apache Junction AZ, this hotel was about 10 miles away. Close to Superstition Mountain and Silly Mountain. Just be aware that the bar that is attached to the hotel is very busy, which makes getting a parking spot a bit difficult if you arrive during the evenings.
Hotel at Gold Canyon was decorated very nicely, the breakgast was very well-rounded and refilled constanty, the rooms were in good shape and we did not have any problems with anything during our stay.
We only stayed one night but the room was great, clean and the staff was wonderful. Bed very comfortable and loved the free wifi and breakfast. The property looked beautiful, we never had time to use the pool. We did go to the lounge and they had kaoroake and get prices for food and drinks.
Overall, our stay was pleasant. I was disappointed in the communication breakdown, but the room was nice and the property clean, well lit and we will return. We did not have breakfast there, but we would have if we did not have other arrangements.
Gold Canyon Suites and Inn was the site of my 50 year high school reunion. As a group of more 'mature' travelers, comfort was a strong consideration. The room was excellent, service was outstanding, and the get together on Saturday night was terrific. Although a larger gathering room would have been better, we managed just fine. Only down side was distance from everything else, not a place to stay without transportation.
Stayed in Gold Canyon City Best Western to enjoy a couple of days at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Also, liked the breakfast at the hotel; made waffles both mornings. Pool was clean and enjoyable too.
This is an excellent place to stay as there are many enjoyable places to visit nearby. Hikes into the Superstition mountains, a Goldfield town sightseeing , and the Mining Camp restaurant to enjoy. There is Mesa close by with shopping and many restaurants. Apache Junction is an old town that has been very popular with tourists also.
We had a bad experience the being of Sept. While trying to nap after early morning Dove hunt, carpet was being installed above us. They wouldnt stop or wait until later. The food was terrible, and they closed the breakfast room at 9am. The coffee pot in our room was broken and our overall experience was not good. The owners didnt seem to be to concerned about our issues. And eventhough our bed was comfortable, we will not be staying here again.
This hotel was great! The new mattress was amazing! Best night sleep! The bar on the hotel nice convenience! The staff so great very friendly and accommodating! If your in this part of the valley you must stay here!
