« Verry helpfull staff and extremely clean hotel »

As a battlefield guide I have stayed in several hotels this year, I must say I was not really sure when I arrived because of the location, but there is no noise of the motorway, the rooms are brilliant, the staff are top class and very helpful. Breakfast was more then ok. Hope to come back in the future.

    « Clean, quiet, cosy,... »

We booked this hotel on Christmas Eve last year (2015) because we went to visit our family and since we didn't want to ride back the same evening. We must say that we had all that we needed. Friendly staff, great room (superior room), clean & quiet. We were pleasantly surprised by the buffet breakfast. More than we expected so ????. Normally we should be checking in again this year... Hope we will get the same feeling about the hotel !!

« National Holidays Lille, Bruge and Cruise »

Just returned from a five day break with National Holidays to Bruge, Lille and Ostend. Other than the location of this hotel I found it extremely clean, well kept and very comfortable. The staff where very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay pleasurable. One member of staff on reception a young friendly Russian girl even arranged to find my favourite teams game on TV. The rooms were very spacious and were cleaned daily with fresh towels provided, the hotel has a small bar that was covered by reception staff and the service was good as well. There was coffee making facilities and a coloured TV as well as an ironing board and iron in our room. If you plan to travel around Belgium and have a car this hotel has really good motorway links. It is situated on the edge of an industrial eastate but on our stay we experienced no road noise and had good nights sleep on all nights. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone who plans using it as a motorway link or for those visiting the industrial site on business. The nearest town is Athe which is ten to fifteen minutes away.

« ?The cleanliness of the hotel had inclined incredibly? »

I loved this hotel. I stayed more that 50 days in different occasion in this hotel. But this time I Stayed in room 302. I killed more tha 15 fly per day. maybe there was a nest of fly in the room. I asked hotel staff to do something and their prompt answer was that they can not do any thing. So I spend 3 days killing flies each time I enter in the room to be able to stay and sleep. The most uncomfortable experience I had in a Hotel room. Very disapointed

« Clean and comfortable, friendly staff »

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It's true that it is far from central, but we knew that already and for anyone wanting to visit Ath, the Pairi Daiza, or any of the nearing villages should consider this hotel and we would recommend it. The rooms were nicely appointed with comfortable beds and very good wifi connectivity, (for a Hotel). The buffet breakfast offered lots of choice and good range of coffee preferences from the machine. We stayed during the cooler time, so the room was a comfortable temperature but we can see that staying here in the summer might be less pleasant as the rooms do not have AC and leaving windows open with the nearby industrial estate and highway could be noisy. Our room had a fan, which I assume is in place for this very reason. Staff were all very nice, helpful and polite. While I realize that AC is a major expense, it could really make this hotel a year round proposition and we would definitely stay here again.Thank you to the staff for making our stay a pleasant one!

« Expensive hotel, but over the 3 stars. »

Good location to an automotive Tier 1 supplier (2 mins from Valeo), service is more than a usual 3 stars (free tea, coffee, water, gym, iron in each room), but the price is higher than an avg european hotel. Very clean, polite staff. We arrived at 21.30, kitchen closes at 22.00, we ate a hot&cold dish, choosen by us. Very rich, tasty food for 22 eur /person, which contains a food and 2 cherry bier. It's again expensive.

    « As expected »

Clean and polite. Nice breakfast with gluten free bread and pleasant coffee. No refrigerator in the room. TV is small, but adequate. Bathroom was clean and that's a big deal. Wi-Fi is included and reasonably fast.

    « A Leger coach trip stop »

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere you can only eat at the hotel that is the only choice meal is about 20euros,breakfast was ok the hotel staff were quite helpful but there are not enough of them the young lady who was on reception was also the person on the bar who did not know wine she also portered the cases to the rooms you cannot run a hotel like that !! I thought the rooms were quit basic and a bit small the second floor seemed a bit better .

« Base for visiting Pairi Daiza »

If you need a place to stay for visiting Pairi Daiza this hotel is a great option. It's located near the highway next to an business park. The rooms are in very good condition and nicely done. There is a restaurant on site that serves French cuisine. The rooms have free wifi.

    « Middle of nowhere »

The hotel itself is OK, but it is in the middle of nowhere, so there are no places to eat anywhere nearby. They do have a restaurant that has a buffet Mon-Fri, but if you are staying during the weekend there are only small snacks on offer. And if you are staying during the week and want to grab a quick bite, the buffet is the only thing they have, no small snacks available. The room is OK, but there is no air-con so during the hot summer days it might get quite hot. The pillows are very hard. As a plus they have an electric kettle for making tea or coffee in the room and the wifi works well.

    « Band group visit »

Fabulous stay fit 3 nights with a group of 65 of all ages. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful, particularly sammy and stefane. Rooms were clean and comfortable, food was excellent and more than enough, buffet style meant we could all eat in one sitting. Bar was pleasant and a nice place to relax in the evening.

    « Business Hotel »

Clean, newer business style hotel. Not the most impressive, but you don't have many options in the area. Warning the beds are very small. Not built for basketball players. The hotel doesn't have a lot going on around it. The city of Ath is quaint.

« Very good for a night stop over »

Feb 11. We were two colleagues on the way to a customer half an hour away. So this was quite convenient next to the highway when arriving late. Friendly and efficient staff. No fancy but clean and OK rooms. Dinner and a beer were quite ok for a working day.

« Ideal for what we needed »

Stayed here with a Leger World War 1 Battlefield Tour group. It's an ideal base for this, with easy access to the necessary motorways. A bit out of town but easy access by taxi if you need it (no public transport nearby). The staff were great, restaurant provided good food at fair prices, and the bar was reasonably well-stocked and again, fair prices. Rooms were a good size and had all you need - TV, tea / coffee facilities, good bathroom, clean and warm. If I was wanting to experience local culture - restaurants, bars, etc, maybe I'd look for a more centrally-located hotel, but for my tour, or a 1-night stopover en route to / from a more distant destination, it's ideal.

« Very comfortable overnight stop »

Stayed here overnight coming back from Germany in December 2015 with a tour group. Room was large with plenty of space for a short stay. Sleep quality was extremely good and quiet the beds were very comfortable. Buffet diner was ok for the group by quantity and variety a bit plain and safe but very acceptable. Breakfast was again plentiful and replenished frequently and ok. The bar service, drinks choice and value was very good compared to many of the places we visited during our tour. The Wi-Fi strength and spread throughout the Hotel was very good and free thanks. The staff attitude and manner to all the guests was very good and helpful, pleasant many thanks. Would stay here again as an independent traveller.

    « Absolutely brilliant. »

Stayed here for one night en route to Germany. Beautiful hotel. Room was very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom just great and shower was fantastic. Buffet meal which was quite superb. Couldn't fault it. Staff were so helpful and pleasant. Definitely a stop off hotel as it is isolated but would definitely recommend it for an overnight stay.

    « Looks Are Deceiving »

Having to conduct some business in the Mons area, our company had booked us into the BW Horizon due to a lack of rooms closer to town. We pulled into the Hotel after a long commute from Germany and the first thing we noticed was that it was conveniently located off the highway and there was lots of free parking, however there was nothing around it except for what looked to be a big warehouse type building. We realized the next day that there was nothing around except for an industrial park. The hotel itself looks nice. Well decorated, modern, and clean, but that's where l'll draw the line at the positive. Check in was easy enough, with the service just 'ok'. After dropping off our baggage, my work partner and I decided to go for a late supper at the hotel restaurant. Again, seemed nice with what looked like a decent dinner buffet. Our waiter whisked by with a quick intro, but not to come by again. It soon became apparent he was alone to serve the entire restaurant. It was busy and he was soon swamped. We had our supper with no drinks or follow up service and soon decided to leave and go to the bar for a night cap. Same scenario there, one guy waiting the bar and also working the front desk. All and all, service was terrible between the 2 spots. The room was nice. No complaints there but the poor service and the isolated location left us very disappointed and we ended up cutting our stay short and after a quick argument with the front desk staff (and more poor service) to cancel our second night that they wanted to charge us for, we booked a place in Mons. I would only recommend this place as a quick stop hotel, where your only plans are to sleep and then hit the road again. Other than that, avoid the place.

« Clean rooms, friendly staff, terrible food. »

Via Travelbird we booked a combi deal which gave us entry into the closeby animal park Pairi Daiza and an overnight stay at the Best Western Hotel Horizon. The hotel is located in an industrial zone so there's not a lot to do in the area. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly but not everything was great. The extra baby bed they provided for our little one only came with one extra (bed)sheet and the matress was very hard. We had to use towels and decorative sheets from our bed to make it more comfortable and warm. A softer matress and maybe a small duvet/eiderdown would've been very welcome. Another negative point was that their restaurant is closed during the weekend. They served some food in the bar (spaghetti, pasta pesto, 2 pizza's and some panini) but the quality was horrible. We ordered 2 spaghetti's and 2 pizza's around 6.30 pm. Around 7.15 they informed us something went wrong with the oven and they had to start over on the pizza's. They asked us if we already wanted the spaghetti's so we said yes. The spaghetti sauce however was clearly from a jar or a can and not fresh at all. 20 minutes later the pizza's arrived but instead of being crispy the crust was soggy. I wouldn't be surprised it they were heated in the microwave. Knowing we spent 12 EUR / spaghetti and 10 EUR / pizza I can only conclude this is a total rip off. To be fair I have to say the breakfast (which was in the restaurant area) was extensive and good. I think during the week this hotel might be popular for business travelers and I have the feeling they try to make up for the lower amount of visitors during weekends by offering these combi deals together with Pairi Daiza. The hotel is not kids oriented at all however and it's a shame they cannot offer the same quality during weekends as they probably do during weekdays (e.g. the restaurant being closed). One last remark. During our entire evening there was 1 (yes, one!) girl working who had to take care of the bar, the reception AND the kitchen. The only reason why we didn't complain during our stay was because we felt sorry for her as she was doing the best she could. They were clearly understaffed and I hope she doesn't have to go through this every weekend.

    « Ledger tour »

The hotel was modern and very clean with the food being at a very high standard and plenty to go round. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the rooms were at a good size with everything you require. I would definitely stop here again

« Good clean business hotel »

A quick overnight at the Horizon hotel and all good. Nice reception staff and good service all round. Evening buffet dinner is convenient and well priced, good breakfast offering too. Rooms were modern and clean and include bottled water, tea & coffee and free wifi. My bed was very comfortable and the rooms were quiet. Would stay again if in the area.

« Good clean hotel which has invested and improved »

I was very pleased by the attitude of the staff and the improved restaurant and food since my last stay. The is ample car park space. I was on the top floor and had issues with the internet, but in the downstairs bar, restaurant and lobby it was very fast.

    « Two nights »

The hotel is clean and comfortable. Employees are extremely helpful and speak so many languages it was very impressive. Breakfast is served buffet style and is ok - the coffee machine gets very busy in the morning - I was there and several tourist groups were there. Dinner buffet is available but not great.

    « holiday »

nice clean room beds comfy lovely bathroom ect quiet but close to motorway bar and rest ra nice food good friendly staff good for a one night stop over if you are going to brussels outside of hotel was as clean as inside

    « Good overnighter »

Used as a one night stopover before travelling onward. We arrived very late in the evening so cant comment on evening meal quality as restaurant shut. However, breakfast was very good with plenty of choice on the buffet.. This is a modern hotel on an industrial park just off the main road. As it was Sunday evening any traffic noise was minimal as no lorries. Our room was small but adequate for our overnight needs. The bed was clean and comfortable. lorries on the roads. Our room was basic but adequate. Very clean with a nice comfy bed.

« Comfy, clean & good location for travelling »

Myself & my husband visited this hotel as part of a large coach party for this years F1. Overall we were pleased with the hotel, clean rooms, comfy beds & friendly staff. My only criticism for this hotel is that they don't open the restaurant over the weekend. They were kind enough to arrange something on the Saturday for us, however after a long day of travelling on the Sunday we had to grab dinner from a service station on the motorway which wasn't ideal! Although a strange location on an industrial park, it's closeness to the motorway was ideal for our daily coach travel.

« Good Location for stopover. »

Stayed for 3 nights with Leger Holidays for the Belgian GP. Location of the hotel is good for a one night stopover due its proximity to the motorway but no good for longer periods as there is no where to go the get anything to eat as the restaurant is not open on weekends. We stayed there for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights so why were we put into a hotel with no restaurant facilities, this is not the fault of the hotel but that of the tour company. The hotel itself is very modern with plenty of parking. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything you need. All other areas of the hotel were also very clean and the outside area with tables and chairs is a bonus. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice The only down side to the hotel is the shortage of staff. On the first night of arrival we waited 15 minutes to get served at the bar as there seemed to be only 2 members of staff on duty. We always had to search for staff so we could get served. To be fair to the staff they were always very polite and friendly. The other problem was that when we returned to the hotel each evening the card keys to get into the rooms would not work, everyone on the coach had to go back down to reception to get them recoded. I would have no hesitation in staying at the hotel again but only as a one night stopover.
