    « Stress free and Peaceful »

    Rooms are hugh, clean, and well decorated. Stayed on 3rd floor. Beautiful view of the ocean. Clean and well stocked. Breakfast was great with hot foods like scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles. Even had boiled eggs, yogurt machine, and apples wrapped with saran wrap (loved it). Every staff member was awesome. Paul, the security guard, went above and beyond. My husband is handicapped and he took three trips to unload us and get us settled in our room. Thank you again Paul!! Stress free stay.

    Our family of four stayed here for one night before departing on a cruise. We were greeted warmly by the reception staff upon arriving. We were checked in promptly and courteously. Our room was nice and had been cleaned well by house keeping. If you look closely you will see they have tried to spruce up this older property with modern decor. Everything worked the way it was supposed to despite seeing signs of age in places. Breakfast was really good, it was on par for what you'd expect at this price point/property. As far as locations go, it's kind of a mixed bag for us. This property is a bit farther down from the island's activities and the cruise port. That said, it is right on Sea Wall Blvd, and there is a pier within walking distance. (the pier costs $) We were quite content and would not hesitate to stay here again.

    « Quiet, Clean, Still good Beach views »

    The spacious room was great for being able to work on the couch or desk while my partner was watching sports. The bed was very comfortable with the extra pillow requested for the two of us to sleep. The wifi was strong enough for working and streaming music. The shower was easy to use. I would only have liked the front desk to have been a little more friendly.

    Nice big clean room, excellent internet connectivity, front desk was very helpful and professional - nightly rate was pretty expensive. The bed was very comfortable and there was a nice side table to setup your laptop.

    I've stayed at this location before and the main reason why is because of value. My room was clean and nice with a balcony and Gulf view. Breakfast was nice with eggs, sausage, cereal, hard boiled eggs, variety of pastries, biscuits (could've been kept in a warmer), waffles, a variety of juices and coffee. I made my reservations online and wasn't happy when the price for a Friday night stay was higher then what I thought I was going to pay when I made the reservation online. I also want happy that the price almost went up 100% from Thursday to Friday but what can you do?

    Great people made a short stay fabulous. Staff was very helpful and patient with us during check-in, helpful during the stay and eased my mind when they found my new cell phone charging cord and kept it safe until I was able to reclaim it. Thanks guys!

    We just stayed at this location for the weekend. I found this establishment was clean and nicely decored, We had no problems with checking in or out, The room was fab! It was clean, spacious and we have a balcony ocean view. We could walk across the street and be on the beach. This hotel is on the west side of the city, so you don't have a lot of congestion and noise. I loved my stay and would stay here again.

    The hotel welcomed us ...friendly when we got there. We stayed 3 nights....so plenty of time to give a round review. Basically it's a Motel 6. A little new paint and a air freshener blowing around the hotel... Towels were limited. Beds...probably the worst hotel bed I've stayed in in years...very uncomfortable. I booked online through booking.com and didn't realize that just starting this year...I didn't get points for staying THREE nights. Ugh :( Checked out on Sunday...hotel was basically empty...we asked for a late check out...just to enjoy an extra hour on the beach...the lady who so SWEETly welcomed us upon arrival...wasn't so nice anymore :(. The other person there said no problem...take your time. We came back to hotel...rushed and got packed up...I get a call from the sweet/welcoming lady at 1:04 and says...you aren't out yet :( Shocked. I just spent 3 nights ..$600 and maids are still cleaning in our hall ... I could say more but won't. I've stayed in lots of hotels there in Galveston..never that treatment. We were low key...never asked for one extra anything the whole stay. Oh well...I'll keep going to the other great places in Galveston :).

    « Nice hotel decor and view but staff needs improvement. »

    Great view and location . Decor is nice. Breakfast room is decent size but needs improvement on food available like fresh fruit and keeping up with refilling items so guests have a choice. Housekeeping needs to be trained to clean a room, not have your feet black within a minute of removing your shoes. Staff could tell you about the credit card hold for incidentals and recognize your reward status and just be friendly overall.

    We drove into Galveston with no reservations on spring break. Everywhere we stopped had no vacancy. We finally found one room left here and we snagged it for three days. The hotel is overall decent. The room was clean and the staff was very nice. The breakfast was a very nice spread with something for everyone. The hot tub was unfortunately not functioning, and the nights were chilly so it would have been nice, but they said we could use the one at the hotel next door. We chose not to do that but it was nice to be offered the option.

    I would NOT recommend staying here. Customer service was TERRIBLE. Our fridge in our room didn't work and our food got ruined. Room wasn't even that nice either. Over all just bad. I would not stay here again personally.

    Just what I needed for an impromptu trip to Galveston Island. The room was clean, the staff friendly and courteous, and the environment quiet. I slept well as the bed was comfortable. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave, and with a store nearby for provisions the stay was most enjoyable.

    The rooms are large, the bath tub are really large, the beds are really comfortable,, I slept like a baby. The staff was really great. And breakfast free every morning very good. So many places to eat at. The only draw back it was to foggy so we never got a chance to go to the back but we did have a tour of Galveston, since it was no vacationer, and no Spring Breakers, we saw alot

    Booked a room here for Saturday night, Feb 10th to go to Mardi Gras. Had a bit of attitude with Kim when I tried to check in the first time with. I informed her that I had a broken leg and wanted to know if I could check in early. She gave me a business card with their phone number and said, it's too early check back around 2:30pm and I will see what I can do. As I had to pass by the hotel around 3pm I stopped back by and she told me they haven't "released any rooms". I said oh, ok and she said, "besides check in isn't til 4pm. She went from nice to nasty at that point. I checked in at 4:15pm with Nathan and he was so pleasant. He fell all over himself apologizing for the delay. Seen me struggling with my things and asked if he could help. I am glad Nathan took over for Kim because he changed my stay into a more positive experience. The rooms were clean, 4 pillows on the bed which I love, beds were queen or king and there were 2 of them. Microwave and fridge in room, as was in room coffee, and tea. Also, they have the "clean remote" system which I love. Plenty of towels, and spacious room and bathroom, also a desk/work space area with separate sitting area and extra table. 2 biggest problem, 1st problem I was in room 130 which is directly across from the elevator...that thing dings and bings all night with folks coming and going. There is no carpet anywhere so this was extremely loud with rolling luggage clicking down the tile hallways all night as well. 2nd problem, as there is no carpet we heard lots of "noises" from above us and beside us. You know the noise that you don't want to hear... Anyway, the breakfast was excellent as far as hot breakfast is concerned, for help yourself food, and the staff did a great job of refilling hot, fresh food constantly. Free parking and decent free wi-fi. On the fence if I come back or not. Nathan did make up for some front desk short comings so perhaps.

    Guest services is rude as well as hotel staff. Poor service. They don't put their guest 1st they go into your room even though there is a DND SIGN? JUST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND WOULD NEVER IN MY LIFE STAY HERE AGAIN

    My boyfriend and I decided to go to Galveston out of the blue and we were too tired to go back home so we ended up searching for a place to sleep. We got a great deal for a room. Bed was comfortable, room was clean and had a nice sideview of the ocean. If we have another spontaneous trip back to Galveston, this would be our first choice.

    My husband passed away unexpectedly and family was not expecting the expense of the travel so I made one call to this hotel and asked for the manager, he did not even hesitate to accommodate me and my family. He set aside a block of rooms for family & friends, they just arrived, checked in and out without the hassle of reservations.Once there, the staff met all our weird requests and the grand-kids felt right at home at breakfast every morning. I recommend this hotel if you need special attention....

    When staying here I checked in, ran some errands on the island, had dinner and arrived to my room late, only to discover blood on my sheets! Called down to front desk and they claim they didn't have any additional sheets! Why not move my room? He was rude! Unapologetic and told me it wasn't his fault

    I booked this place last minute through Trivago and got a reasonable rate. The two biggest issues I had with the place was the stench in the hallway by the storage closet and the fact there was no remote in my room. The front desk made a comment that they need to put my credit card on file in case I decide to walk off with the TV (not a good joke) and come to find out the darn TV didn't even work. I went back to the fromt desk to ask for a remote and neither the LG nor the Universal remote would turn the darn thing on. Bummer!

    We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the beach and sea wall, its reasonable cruise parking and shuttle, and its reasonable rates. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but showing some wear. We had a couple of issues with hot water and phone service, but it was also in an ice storm and 28 degrees. The manager was very nice about it and even comped us our parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ample and good. The shuttle service was great. Would stay here again.

    Nice enough but not quite worth the price. Could not log onto internet. Had one cleanliness issue, vent in bathroom ceiling partially blocked by a wadded up tissue. Breakfast was OK, nothing special, usual hotel hot breakfast fare with frozen, re-heated institutional items. Across Seawall Blvd from West Beach, close to the Gulf but not in a major tourist area so fairly quiet. Bed was a little too firm. Next trip will probably look for a different location.

    We stayed in Galveston for the 2017 Christmas holiday. We chose this Best Western for location and price. We found that the hotel exceeded our expectations and are likely to stay there again on future trips. The hotel was very clean; the staff very friendly and helpful. It was a good choice which led to a great experience.

    children were looking for a getaway place to see the Christmas lights and festivals in Galveston Tx, needed two rooms for two nights that was close to everything, This place has a great view of the gulf coast, we could see it from our room , we would walk across the street t seawall, great time walking with our kids, moody gardens is about 5 min , strand was 15 min, minigolf we could walk to,

    Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, quiet location, clean property. Breakfast was wonderful, fresh and hot. Coffee was decent. So glad I found this hotel. Definitely will return on next visit and focus more on Best Western hotels in the future.

    I didn't enjoy the stay. The beds were hard and squicky. The first elevator was broken and when we got to the second one under the hotel the door was open and my card didn't work. The elevator shook the entire time up to the second floor. Getting on the second floor smelt like mold.

    This was a good place to stay, and fairly close to different attractions. There was a good variety of breakfast items. The room was quiet, and beds were comfortable. Since the motel is across the street from the gulf, it was possible to walk across the street to the water, instead of having to pay for parking.

    « Terrible night but beautiful view »

    First of all, I booked this room for the view and it didn't disappoint. However, two HUGE flood lights right in from of our room totally obliterated that for night time viewing. Then there was very loud walking (I.e. stomping) on the floor above during the night. Then an unexplained loud tapping noise at intervals all during the night that at one time sounded like gun fire. It wasn't, of course, but being jolted out a sound sleep, it was my first thought. Then seven in the morning the fire alarm goes off in our room! No fire. Called front desk and they chuckled and said yes there have been several going off in different rooms. Not funny AT ALL. Mattress was lumpy, pillows flat, and whatever they washed the linens in caused my face and legs to burn. Not much sleep at all

    This was a great Hotel with a Great view. The Staff was exceptional. Problems that any Hotel Effected by Hurricane Harvey would have, were handled Professionally and made us extremely happy. Breakfast was Awesome with hot food. Staff at breakfast made us feel like we were eating at an upscale restaurant.

    « Dirty Room with a Rundown View »

    Our room was dirty - stains on box springs, on cabinets, hand prints on bed backboards, toothpaste on door in bathroom, dirty towels, and large wood screws protruding from furniture. The "Gulf View" was that of a run down lot with a house that some hurricane almost took out. and a dirty overgrown alley. Elevators to the parking lot didn't work most of the time. When they did, they landed with a loud thud. Rode elevator with one staff member coming to work who smelled strongly of marijuana. Most of the cleaning staff just roamed the halls like zombies throughout the day or spent time talking to each other instead of cleaning. Breakfast was terrible - half frozen biscuits with a "gravy" that was mostly water with a strange chemical taste.

    We really enjoyed our 2 night stay, updated decor is very nice well! We had a great view of the beach/waves, and the pool was great too! Daily breakfast was good, with a variety, however could have used a couple of less carb options.

    I reserved 2 rooms for a girls trip to Galveston. Room 343 smelled musty when we opened the door and the bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke. We opened the patio door and left it open for hours! We later found a dirty used washcloth hanging on the shower curtain rod and there was no soap in the bathroom. When I wiped up a water spot on the dark tile floor, the towel was dark with dirt. My friend in room 346 found a live roach in the bathroom the next morning. The motel was full because of FEMA people with vouchers that had been there for a month. Children were screaming and running the halls in the morning. the breakfast was cold and spartan, and the worst I've had anywhere. Even the coffee was bad.I told the desk clerk about our stay and there was no apology given. We will never return, and would have left or changed locations or rooms except for 100% occupancy due to the hurricane last month. Thank goodness it was only for one night. P.S. the bed was comfortable.

    The hotel is literally right across the street from the beach and we had a wonderful view from the balcony of our room. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Having breakfast included was a nice bonus. We chose the buffet, which was sumptuous! There are also several restaurants within walking distance. Our only complaint was that their website states that cruise parking and shuttle to and from the cruise terminal is a free amenity. However, for people that are not taking advantage of the cruise parking and shuttle, their hotel rate is over $100 less than those that do, so I do not see how that is considered a "free" amenity.

    How wonderful to be offered your choices of comfort before being assigned a room. The front desk host was perfect. Quick, sweet and pro. The breakfast area is very clean and stocked. Fresh towels whenever I needed. Whoever did the recent paint renovations has done a really good job; as it is hard to paint an old hotel. It looks really good in there. Snacks downstairs,vending drinks on each floor and always ice when I needed it as well. Great stay.

    I had read some reviews on this location that were not particularly good but decided to give it a chance anyway. The hotel sits directly across the street from the sea wall, a very convenient location. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Kimberly made our check in go so smoothly, she was very friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. The room had been cleaned well and there were no unpleasant surprises. The beds were comfy and had ample pillows. If I was disappointed about anything it would have been that Breakfast really didn't have any good protein choices (eggs, bacon, sausage), everything was carbs. Being diabetic, that made a difference for me but that being said, there were many choices for breakfast. They had an automated pancake maker that made pancakes in one minute, all you did was push a button! They had the cook your own Texas shaped waffles, breakfast rolls, vanilla yogurt with flavorings and toppings, bread to make toast and biscuits with sausage gravy. There was also juices and coffee, 1% and 2% milk from a milk dispenser not a carafe that does not serve the milk ice cold. There were hard boiled eggs, but they were in a refrigerated unit. Also some fruit, mainly apples. Breakfast is served from 6-9 AM and there was an attendant that kept everything well stocked and clean. We had a pleasant stay and we will use this hotel again. Thanks to Kimberly who made check in and check out a pleasant experience.

    Checking alone hotels in Galveston since I am retired to go with my wife. We like going to Galveston and the beach during the week. Hotel is Ok but the deal breaker are the vinyl faked wood floors in the rooms. They look dirty and feel sticky and dirty. This is a deal breaker. Will try others and will let you know.

    The hotel itself is nice. The rooms were nice and the location is great! The check-in process was awful. There were two staff members and only one of them was checking people in. It took forever and there was a long line of people waiting.

    Worth the price. affordable comfort close to the beach, within driving distance of the pelican island attractions. They offer free Wi-Fi, breakfast, huge room clean soft bed, we would stay here again.

    The rooms were nice and big. The beds are comfortable. The location is nice. Most of the staff is friendly. Our A/C unit was set at 60, but the room never really felt cool enough. It was not warm per say, but could have been cooler. The hot tub was like a hot bathtub with not that great of jets and no Bubbles. The pool was adequate. Breakfast ends at 9:00 AM. For vacationers, that seems a bit early to me.

    Clean rooms and pool area. Refreshing balcony to see ocean across the street. One request is to extend free breakfast to at least 10:00 am so my vacationing grandkids do not have to get up early when I'm allowing them to stay up a little later because (for them) that is part of the fun getting away (we had to miss that which could be a future deterrent). I felt SAFE which is very important to this Grandma! Having internet a must for today's grandkids so a Thank you for that too. Great stay, thank you :-)

    This Best Western Hotel at a wonderful staff in every area without exception. It seemed to be well staffed as well. Each time we passed someone they asked about our stay and if we needed anything. The breakfast was okay at best. If it had a hot breakfast as advertised, it would rate an excellent rating.

    Very very poor value. Room not cleaned, beds made up, or clean towels provided. Dirty towels were taken but no clean towels provided. Had to ask at front desk. Poolside towels not readily provided. Breakfast disappointing--no eggs or breakfast meats. Cockroach.

    The hotel was very nice. It was located in a very good location which was right across the street from the beach with free breakfast. The room was huge, very roomy and spacious. The customer service at the front desk was great. The only problem to our stay was that on our last night the pool and spa which was somewhat small (outdoors) was crowded. Overall, I would recommend this location to friends and family.

    « This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! »

    We had to wait for half and hour to check in ... Hotel is dirty overall, room, halls , pool everywhere you look there is some kind of trash laying around . Rooms are big but who cares if your sheets haven't been washed ? Hair all over and no towels. We had to be on a "Waiting list for towels " and they never came so we had to run to the store and buy our own towels! Come on ! Thank goodness we were there less then 24 hours .. can't imagine spending my vacation here . If I was Best Western I wouldn't license this location .

    If you want to actually have time on your vacation to not sit in a lobby with 20 other people waiting for an hour to get into your room don't stay here. They said it was the cleaning staff, I say it was bad organization and bad communication. Check in was at 4pm, we weren't in a room until 507p and we had to keep asking what was going on. Not ok.

    The hotel was good. I got a last minute deal for less than 100 bucks. Right across the street from the beach. Breakfast not good at all. Wear socks in your room, floor was pretty dirty, no carpet. Nice hotel though, I will stay again. I was right by the elevator, next time I will request not to be.

    I was extremely happy with the new "Best Western" (replaced the LaQuinta) and all items were cleaned up and were in much better condition than when it was LaQuinta. I don't know exactly what else to post here.

    Excellent stay Me and my family decided to go to Galveston Island to enjoy the sunny weather. We did not know which hotel to stay in so we decided to look at a hotel that was reasonably priced and this was how we found the Best Western west beach hotel. Miss Marissa looked after us very well and welcomed us to the hotel. We stayed on the second floor of the hotel our room had an excellent smell and was very clean...... the hotel haves a great staff and a nice housekeepers miss sofia and a youg man called george they cleaned my room very good and they give me new towels. I recommend this hotel to the people that wants to stay in Galveston island...... very cheap, comfortable and a great staff...

    We showed up to the hotel at 4pm which was check-in time. There was a very long line and a lot of upset guests. When we finally got up to the counter we were told our room wasn't cleaned but would be ready in an hour. We came back an hour later and our room still wasn't ready. We asked to switch to a different room then. They told us there was no clean rooms and to come back later. We went back a 3rd time around 8pm. Our room STILL wasn't ready. The only room available was the family suite. We did not need this big of a room since it was just my husband and I. We took the room just to get into a room. When we went to turn on our tv it didn t work. The cable had been cut. I went to go call them to inform them and to my dismay the phone didn t work either. We just want to go to bed at this point. We found black [email protected] hairs in the master bed(We are both blonde). The other 2 beds have sans in them. I go downstairs and am given a set of sheets and told I can make my own bed. Finally get to sleep and we hear our door slam against the deadbolt at 3am. They booked someone in the room we were sleeping in!! In the morning I go to take a shower only to find a used bar of soap and sand in the tub. After I complained I was told we could have the room until 5. At 1130 housekeeping came into our room and told us to leave. We told them we were given late check out. A few minutes later a man came up to our room and told us we had 15 minutes to vacate the room or we would be charged a 2nd night. We were told the property manager would call me in my cell when he came in later that day to discuss our experience. That was yesterday. Still waiting for a call.....

    Check in was a breeze for a busy Saturday. I actually used my points for friends to stay and they really liked the rooms. They have never stayed there before and they will most likely stay again for a quick trip to the island.

    « Good Location - Not a great hotel »

    Went to visit our kids and grandson for an overnight stay. Upon check in, parked beneath garage as instructed and could not access any of the 4 doors to get into the hotel and had to go all the way back to lobby. Got to our room which was at the other end of the hotel and keys would not work ..this was very frustrating. Hotel in general is out dated and did not feel clean. Room was clean but strong odor of musty and cleaning supplies. Spend day at pool, it was clean but hot tub was not clean with hair and other particles floating around. Beds were comfy and room was cold. Breakfast the next morning was a disappointment. Just toast, gravy and waffles at 8:30 a.m. was available. Elevators were terribly slow and jumped when they stopped. Saw that they had not been inspected in over a year. We have stayed in many Best Westerns as we are Platinum members and this was definitely not the best one we have stayed in. Great location right on the seawall so if some updating and probably better management overseeing things that need to be done would make it a better place to stay. Especially for the rates that are being charged.

    Rooms are a good size, recently renovated but quality of workmanship not the greatest. Was never able to connect to the internet but guess more my device than their internet - management tried to get me connected. Breakfast not up to Bestwestern standards. Had requested a balcony but was assigned a room on the 1st floor with no balcony. Good location and quiet area. A couple of restaurants, convenience store, souvenir shop, movie theater and miniature golf all within walking distance. Appreciate their Military Discount, hope they keep honoring those that are serving and those that have retired from the Armed Forces!

    I was nervous about staying here due to the reviews. When we arrived, Marissa was working up front & she was super friendly! She wanted to make sure we got a room with a beach view & asked if we minded waiting until 2 to check in since it was around 12 so we decided to grab some lunch & go to the beach. She offered us the pool also. She called to let us know our room was ready & it had a awesome view! Breakfast was alright- biscuits, gravy, cereals, pastries, pancakes & waffles. No eggs or meat which we did not like because we try to eat a good breakfast full of protein. The yogurt machine was empty. The room was clean & updated. The pool area is nice an clean with with a nice hot tub. Lots of parking.

    Our stay was ok. We had a decent view of the ocean from our balcony, but the actual sandy beach is about a mile down the strip. The breakfast was not impressive at all- breads, cereal, apples, yogurt and coffee. Our floor hall had a smell to it- nothing bad enough to make me not stay but noticeable. I will try a hotel closer to the sandy beach next time. This location is idea for the fishers

    We were booked at this hotel July 8 for one night. We had six adults and two kids under age 12. I cannot warn you enough about this hotel. DO NOT TRUST YOUR VACATION with this hotel or Dade Vincent. I originally booked the La Copa hotel back in December 2016. At that time we had 4 people and I got a rate of $124. In April my mom and other family members wanted to go so I contacted the La Copa only to find out that they'd been sold to Best Western and there was no record of any reservation and the current rate was almost $300 a night. I spoke with a manager of some kind. I think her name was Kimberly. She was on the phone with me and walked me through the booking process. I needed room for seven now and she recommended the one king two queen double room suite that would sleep 8 and my two kids would be free. She told me what to click and to put in MILT for the rate so I could get a better rate than $300 a night since no one ever verified the govt. rate eligibility. The rate for the suite was $150 a night. I thought I did the reservation correctly but as soon as I got the confirmation, I saw I'd booked the suite but I forgot to take away the original room I booked so I now had the suite and a double queen room booked that I didn't need because the suite slept 8. I called back and the manager person I spoke to before, again can't be sure of her name, said she cancelled the extra room and we should be set with the family suite for 8. Great. However it was not great. I called back to check on one thing and again there was no record of my reservation. The manager person that had walked me through the booking process and canceled the unneeded room had instead canceled the entire reservation leaving my family of 8 once again without a hotel for the one night and rates were still around $300. I then reached Dade Vincent, the hotel manager. The female manager I spoke to talked to him and I explained everything that happened and he personally made the reservation for me for the family suite for 8. The room details sent to me in the e mail confirmation were this: Room Details: 1 King 2 Queen Beds, Non-Smoking, Family Room, Kitchenette, Sofabed, Full Breakfast Again, great. Two people in the king bed. Two people in each queen bed and my two kids on the sofa bed. Perfect. However, it was not perfect because when I was looking to print out the confirmation I realized Dade never sent me one. I called him yet again and he had no recollection of ever speaking to me. I had to go through the whole explanation again. He had NEVER made the reservation when I spoke to him the first time and I had to start over again begging for the $150 rate he quoted me before which he had no recollection of. He reinstated the reservation and I printed it. We arrived at the hotel at 3:50 PM on July 8. There was a line of 3 people ahead of us. Check in time is 4 PM but other parties were being checked in. When I got to Charles, I believe was his name, he said the room wasn't ready and he couldn't check us in until the room was released. It was 4:10 at that time and he said I should check back at 4:30 PM. We waited in the lobby area. At 4:30 the room was not ready. At 4:45 the room was not ready. At 5 PM the room was not ready. At 5:15 the room was not ready and we were running out of patience. We then went to Bryce at the counter and he said we could check in. Bryce got us checked in and even though I was clearly miffed, he was patient and kind and he defused the level of frustration I felt. I did ask to see Dade, the manager, but he was not on the property. We finally got all 8 of us up to the 3rd floor room, room 328, only to find out that it has a king bed and two queens and no sofa bed. My husband went down and spoke to Dade, who had finally returned, and Dade said he never told me the room held 8 and I was wrong. He said the room holds 6 people. There are no rollaways or any other rooms available so now I have six adults and two kids in a room that sleeps 6 people. As noted before, the room description states that there is a sofabed. I was done dealing with Best Western and Dade and I made a last minute reservation at the Days Inn behind the Best Western at a cost of $205. Now I've got two rooms for a total cost of $392 for a reservation started six months earlier. My family of four stayed at the Days Inn however the Best Western room was registered to me and I spent time there which is why I feel I can review this hotel. We did walk over from the Days Inn and have the free breakfast as well. We also parked our car at the Best Western because it was covered and the Days Inn parking was not covered. I would strongly suggest you not stay at this hotel. You cannot depend on them for standing by anything they say. Dade never reached out to speak with me about the situation. I did ask another desk person for contact information for the hotel owner and they refused to give it to me. I'll follow up with corporate Best Western to let them know how their brand is being represented. I'm sure I'm just one person not happy and they have many other happy guests so my opinion doesn't matter but I will let it be known.

    I stayed here with a friend for a couple of nights while we fished in West Bay off of Galveston Island. The property has a nice location just across Seawall Blvd from West Beach. From what I can tell, it is one of four commonly owned motor inns located contiguous to each other, and managed by the same manager - Dade Vincent. We arrived late, and were checked in quickly and efficiently by the night desk clerk. Our room number was 214. This was the last good experience of the trip. The room was nicely apportioned, with vinyl plank floors, and a frig and microwave located in the room. There is parking underneath the hotel ,and it is served by the elevator. We had a boat, and parked in an adjacent area which the staff referred to as "cruise parking". Breakfast is furnished. There were waffles (you prepare), coffee, juice, hard biscuits and gravy, some cereal, yogurt, and either muffins or rolls. Both my friend and I talked about the fact that this was the first hot breakfast where there were NO eggs or breakfast meat furnished. What they had was decent, but it fell way short of what I would have expected from other stays. Since we had it two days, we had to figure this was the norm. Not at all impressed. During our stay, we never had any maid service / towel replacement / cleaning. When we returned from fishing to find our room as we left it, we asked that it be serviced while we were at dinner. No luck. When we asked the desk clerk, he said "they have been pretty busy today". REALLY? Both times I took a shower, my feet were so filthy from the floors in the room that I left tracks in the bathtub. This makes me believe that the floors are not cleaned well when the maids actually do make it to your room. We were given new towels, but had to go down to the front desk ourselves to retrieve them. We were assured by the night desk clerk that the manager would "get us taken care of" in the morning. The night clerk was as helpful as he could be, but he had virtually no one else to help him. When we went to check out, we were told that the manager had not yet made it into the property (well after 8:00 AM). When we requested his cell number so we could contact him, the staff refused to give it out. So we left our cell number for him to contact us. SURPRISE - no call ever returned. Mr. Dade Vincent is VERY unprofessional, and it would seem that he either has too many responsibilities with the multiple properties or is not taking care of business. I had prepaid the reservation through Priceline, and received what I considered a fair price. To make matters worse, when I returned to work on Monday, I discovered that Best Western Galveston West Beach Hotel had charged my credit card for the stay a second time. I made two phone calls, speaking to Kimberly one day, and with Dawn the next. Kimberly promised to research the situation and call me back within 30 minutes. Dawn offered no help, saying that only Mr. Vincent could have the charge removed from my card. He was magically in a meeting until late afternoon, and so again I left my number for a return call. You guessed it - no call from Mr. Vincent! Does he really exist, or is he more like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny? I called Priceline for assistance, and they told me they would have to speak with Mr. Vincent before they could refund my charges, but promised to call back after attempting to communicate with the phantom, Mr. Vincent. They did call back, and agreed to refund my charges because the property personnel were UNCOOPERATIVE. So, there is a second opinion if you needed one. My money was refunded by Priceline, and the hotel personnel never did anything to correct their error. I think it was easier for the Best Western Galveston West Beach Hotel to process in the manner they did. VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES! Recap: Good price, nice location, terrible service, deceptive trade policies, not clean rooms, and substandard breakfast. If you actually see the manager, give him my regards. He definitely needs to find a career where customer service is not a requirement. Sometimes, it is better to spend a little more to avoid this type of experience.

    I used Priceline's, "express deals' to find a last minute hotel for a few days during the week. If you've done this then you know that you don't find out WHICH hotel you get until after you pay. Although I typically don't use this selection on anything less than a 3 star, I decided since it was a 2.5 at half the price that I'd take the risk. I was a bit nervous initially after reading the mixed reviews. However, most of the negative ones were from the rooms near the back. Upon check-in I simply asked if it was possible for me to have a room near the front with a view. That's exactly what I received. The room was clean, updated, and I had no complaints at all and I'm fairly picky . I don't even unload my suitcase until after I've taken a peek at my room. In fact, they were quiet accommodating. I added a 3rd night and received a late check out. Although it rained sporadically throughout our stay, I had a balcony with a view of the ocean, the sounds of seagulls, and a comfortable bed to rest. The staff was extremely helpful and I'd stay here again.

    We went to Galveston to the beach. We had plans to go on Galveston party boats the next day and would have to leave home a 430am to get to galveston. We decided to stay overnight in galveston to avoid the early drive back the net morning. We picked the Best Western for our Hotel. It was an excellent choice.

    We had a great time staying at this best western hotel right on the beach in Galveston TX! Everything was clean each time we returned to the room and the guest service was spot on great. I would recommend anyone to stay at this best western hotel if they are visiting the area and I will be staying there again when I return for another vacation.

    It was an ok experience, but not worth the price. Beach front hotels charge twice as much as they are worth. If you are traveling for the first time, you may get a better value staying inland and driving to the beach 15-20 minutes away. Just be prepared to pay for parking.

    With try exception of a few people that worked the front desk and breakfast, most of the people that work there seem to hate their job. They are hostile and stand in the hallways unmoving when a guest walks by and do not care that they are in the way. They didn't seem to care that the place was a mess. I complained to the front about my room not being cleaned multiple times and was told they were super busy and would make sure to get to it that day and it never did. Friends staying on another floor did not have a problem with their room being cleaned, so I guess it was a first floor problem. I would never pay the price I paid to stay at this place again.

    This hotel is right on the beach. The rooms are huge. The park and cruise was great. A transit to and from the port was available for a total of $50. Fast and efficient service at the hotel and being picked up from the port on our return.

    Too noise by the reception staff. Power went out and woke up after midnight to too hot temperature in the room. Went to the reception desk and had to wait before someone came to respond. Response was power went out just open your door to get cooler temperature.No apology for no AC & not much for breakfast since there was no power. Waited for too long before getting checked in.

    Took the family here for a couple of nights in the beginning of the week. It was very affordable for Galveston and well situated, right on the sea wall and near a lot of attractions. The room was very nice and clean. We had an excellent view off our balcony as well. You can tell is an older hotel but was very clean so didn't really bother us. The pool was clean and plenty of chairs and towels. We loved the hot tub after a long day at the beach. No issues parking either. Recommend for a family get away, we will definitely be back!

    This hotel is a bargain. It is right across the street from the ocean, has a good hot breakfast (not great but better than continental) and the hotel staff is excellent. Room is large and updated. For the price, this hotel can't be beat in Galveston.

    The room was wonderful. Staff was friendly and very helpful. This hotel had everything you could ask for to have a pleasant stay. They have a pool, guest laundry, and an informational board giving names of restaurants and other points of interest.

    Check in was fast. The lady who checked me in did not have a name badge. She was not friendly. She was drinking a red Gatorade bottle at the front desk. Rooms were nice and clean. I was disappointed that I didn't have the view of the beach. I expected better but you get what you pay for.

Reserved a room then was told we didn't have a room and had to drive back to the other hotel and waste our time and gas to be told we did have a room to drive back and finally the lady checked our reservation and gave us an occupied room then came back to give us a dirty room. The checkout lady was rude and disrespectful to my wife and questioned her age if she wa me old enough to get a room when she was 28 years old.

    About a 1/4 mile walk to the beach access, it is not located near the stretch of beach open to swimming, but we didn't mind not getting in the water. We mainly went for Moody Gardens and this location is an easy drive.

    Don't booked this hotel unless you double check that everything is working in the hotel the ac room was not working at all it was hot for my kids worst experience ever ..we told the lady that the room was to hot she just said just lower the temperature it should be fine ...when I'm pretty sure she new was going with the room.     Our room did not get cleaned. We had to ask for towels and needed more toilet paper in the middle of the night bc of this. The floors were dirty when we got to the room. Not very clean, and remodeling was not done well. Front desk ladies were very kind.

    Location and cleaness of room was great. Breakfast was very good. Had problems checking. The young lady apparently did not know much about checking in customers.. So I had had to go back later to fix the problem but then was getting phone calls still from front dest about the problem even though it had been resolved.

    I booked a reservation through hotels.com in February for a stay in July. Three weeks prior, I called to confirm and was told there was no record of my reservation. No notice was sent to inform me of this cancellation. Apparently, the management has changed hands. After two days of back and forth, I was told that management would not honor my reservation and would do nothing to accommodate. Now tasked with finding a last minute room and paying triple the price. Beware of very poor customer service. My sister and parents are in the same situation. My sister has been communicating directly with the hotel, where the front desk admitted that they have had "many" unhappy customers as a result of this situation.

    We really enjoyed our stay. Great location, nice staff, nothing to complain about from us . Breakfast is a cold breakfast except the Texas shaped waffles that you make yourself. The pool was wonderful. The room was spacious and the internet is fast. The bed and pillows are amazing!!

    Only issue was the bathroom door wouldn't close but otherwise it was a very nice stay with great staff and helpfulness! It was on the west end of the beach so at high tide we had to go down a bit to be on the beach but it was much easier to get into and out of so we were quiet happy with our choice!

    Recently completely renovated. Clean, Bright, New. Love that the rooms have tiled floors. Comfortable beds, nicely decorated, clean bright hallways. Great value! Located right on the Main road that is directly looking out onto the Gulf, but down the road just enough to be away from crowds.

    Overall the stay was a good one. The only suggestion I would give would be to get to breakfast early. They ran out of food the one day that we went to breakfast. The beds were very comfy. The room was very roomy.

    We stay at BW all the time; however, this one definitely didn't meet expectations. During the first 15-20 minutes we were there, we had 2 different employees enter our room without even knocking. We ended up having to lock the door. The floors were filthy and we had to wear shoes the whole time. The toilet didn't flush well and there was only 1 trashcan in the room. I know they are going through remodeling after buying out the LaQuinta so I was trying to be understanding; however, cleanliness is unacceptable.

    I stayed at this hotel several times and this time I noticed a big difference. Nicer decoration and the staff are very nice. I believe it is under new management now. I would recommend this hotel. The rate was good compared to other hotels in the same category. Location is nice and quite, just a little bit away from the crowded center.

    It seems like at this place they don't use a checklist to verify the rrom is ready for a new guest. It is not fun to spend time back and forth to the reception (phone didn't work) to report issues, and try to change rooms to get all the services. I certainly stay away from this particular hotel next time I go to Galveston.

    Clean and updated hotel on the seawall. Balcony to see the waves and minutes away from Moody Gardens. Breakfast was ok but did have a waffle maker and cereal. If coming from 61st, it is the 2nd Best Western...not the 1st one you see. We made that mistake.

    Reviews for this hotel were mixed, so we did not expect things to be perfect. Staff was friendly and helpful. The new employee didn't know if we needed to show a credit card or not for a prepaid room. We were pleasantly surprised at how large the room was. The laminate floor had a few sticky spots. But it was probably still cleaner than carpet. Otherwise the room was fine. This hotel used to be called La Copa Inn. That caused some confusion because we made reservations under the new name, and then hotels.com sent us a receipt with the old name. The other confusion was that there are 2 Best Westerns in the same block. We stopped at the wrong one at first. But all of these were minor concerns. We would definitely stay there again, especially with the great price we got through hotels.com.
