Stay was very comfortable and convenient!, This was our first time staying at SureStay and we found it to be very clean and organized, the only problem was the ice makers were out of order, but no problem we were able to manage our stay with purchasing our own ice . Still overall experience was very good!
The facility was very clean and the room was comfortable. The building, although recently painted, felt “industrial” and the room only had 1 chair. A/C and water worked flawlessly and the housekeeping staff were excellent. The age of the facility showed as the Ice machine on the 3rd floor was broken and I needed to use the one on 1. I would rate the value as a 5 and the facility a 4! Front desk staff was also excellent.
I picked this hotel because it was close to my college and storage place. This is a good hotel to lay your head down. The customer service was really good and accommodating. The check-in and check-out was very easy. The waffles were quite delicious!
The four pillows are great. Bed is great though a little high for me, I'm 6 foot, but it's manageable:) AC works fine. And everything else is there, what and where it's supposed to be. Not sure about the neighborhood but floor entrances require a guest key. Inside feels safe In general it's good. I would stay again.
Hotel leaves much to be desired - lots of people outside hanging around. Looks more like a cheap motel than a hotel. Smells like weed in elevator and hallways smelled musty. Room seemed clean but towels were terrible. Small and scratchy. Definitely wouldn't stay here again.
We rolled up and there was a tick on the bed. When we called the desk, all they asked was to change the sheets for us. No offer to move rooms. We didn't even ask for our money back, we just left and found another place. Not a place I'll return to now or ever.
Average stay nothing exceptional , staff was helpful and appreciated the Continental breakfast that made mornings enjoyable to start the day. I liked that it was close to highway and public transportation. Close to restaurants and Laundromat.
Rooms were clean, staff was efficient and friendly. The hotel was quiet and the beds were very comfortable.
Nice beds. Hotter water for the shower would give it a 10. The hot water is Luke warm at best but overall staff is nice and willing to accommodate in any way possible
My five year old did not want to leave! On my second stay, the tv was broke and they moved us quickly to a new room.
Great spot for the money. Sam Kumar, the site manager, was kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. I would recommend this spot to those in need of long term stays for the price and location. The beds were fine and clean, and the television complete with many channels.
Good breakfast, i enjoyed my waffle, sausage, eggs, coffee. Good clean rooms, good location, near grocery stores, things to do, friendly professional helpful staff. Guy at the counter was a great, pleasant, happy, knowledgeable person. The building could use a coat of paint outside but its very nice inside.
Nicely refurbished with fresh paint, flooring and bathroom remodeling. Caring management understanding my need to be here in recovery from neurosurgery at Duke. Thr manager and his team have given me exceptional assistance to deal with my ost operative situation. The breakfast here has been really good our entire stay. I see much ongoing refurbishment. Management has worked carefully to eliminate questionable late night parking lot. I'll be back. I like this place for proximity to Duke Cancer Center and multiple food places. We'll definitely be back here for my Duke Tumor Center follow-ups.
The staff is very professional and very accommodating on all fronts . I can not wait until the pool is open . Very clean rooms and parking lot
This is my favorite hotel. Everything is always perfect . The employees are perfect the rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is quiet. I always enjoy my stay here. My favorite thing about this hotel is the service I receive every time I visit
I had to stay here for three days for my job. This is by far the absolute worst best western brand hotel I have ever stayed in although they are remodeling. I'm guessing because they're now a part of best western, it's very rundown at this place, there are constantly people drinking and riding through the parking lot, there was a man walking around into car windows. , there was a man walking around into car windows. I did not feel safe here at all. I did not feel safe here at all. I did not feel safe at this place! The inside is kind of like a maze and very easy to get lost. The man at the desk when I checked in did not explain directions to even the elevator well enough for me to go straight to it the elevator is at the front entrance on the outside to the left, every floor is the same. The elevator is outside the locked corridor entrances
The beds are a bit tall for shorter people. However, the staff is very courteous. The free scrambled eggs and coffee in the morning set my day off right for a hospital appointment. The room was clean, and I enjoyed the tiny designated smoking area with a beer. We ordered Doordash and slept well.
For the price it was a good hotel. Had little flies/nats fling around the room. Other than that, it was a good room for the price. The breakfast was very good and I filled me up. It appears to be under remodeling, however no mess was seen by me other than a stack of old mattresses.
It is an excellent hotel, the rooms are very clean. Very quiet, very friendly staff, very rich breakfast, I recommend it to all of you, it is a very good hotel.
Comfortable for me I forgot about the breakfast though got to try it next..good place right on time tv channels are just what I need very relaxing..close to plenty of food grocery stores
The bath towels were more like dish rags; thin, small and rough. The blanket was as thin as a sheet. The room smelled like weed. The elevator smelled like car exhaust. And, breakfast! Dry cereal, a few apples and waffles. No eggs. No meat. And, powdered creamer. No milk. And, the man (manager?) who checked me in seemed irritated that I had paid so little for the room. He said “You got 5 days for the price of two! When did you book this?!” I had booked it on the Best Western app and it was going for less than I paid when I looked again. And, if I had been charged more, I would have asked for my money back. Never again!
This Best Western hotel is in a super easy location right off the interstate. The rooms are about as simple as you can make them, and when you just need a place to rest your head, you don't need it to be that fancy. The beds are comfortable. The room was clean and the heating and air conditioning worked. The best part was that the exercise room actually had an air-conditioning unit in it. I've been to a lot of hotel gyms and most of the time you don't even get a fan. Also super affordable and the staff was very kind.
Very quiet. They have a nice hot breakfast in the morning. Employees are nice. Rooms are clean. Beds are nice and comfortable. You have stores and restaurants in walking distance. I really have no complaints. I come here majority of the time and they never disappoint me.
Above and beyond for price! Staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast here is lovely. Would definitely recommend staying at this location to family and friends. Thank you for helping us during our stay.
Trying to become a better hotel, that is evident. Breakfast was good. Price for area and hotel was reasonable. Manager was very friendly. Room was clean except one dirty washcloth! I didn't complain as I don't complain about things out of my control.
From the moment we arrived at the counter for check in, Sam greeted us and welcomed us. He made the process quick and easy. The propriety looks a little older, but our room was GREAT!! The shower has a SLIP PROOF floor!! We had a microwave, refrigerator, a very comfortable bed! The room smelled fresh!! We didn't use the coffee maker, but it was stocked!! Mr. Sam greeted us at checkout. What a nice gentleman!!! I would most definitely stay here again!!! Thank You Sam for the hospitality!!! CM
Ick, just ick. Dark rooms, crappy remodel, whole place reeked of weed. I understand that this hotel is/was a halfway house. I expect better of Best Western. I did not feel safe at this hotel. Front desk staff was nice and helpful, however. The floor was uneven, causing me to trip several times. Sketchy parking lot deals going on as well.
My time at the shore, stay was great even if it was just for one night. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and offered me a position for front des after I told him my experience, working in hotels.
I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was helpful and professional and the hotel is clean and comfortable. This hotel is affordable and operating under great management. I would recommend this hotel to anyone
Amazing all the way around! Amazing staff! Free breakfast! They will accommodate if need be! Clean and decent sized rooms! Decent prices! Great location! Very close to literally everything! Cracker Barrel and cookout in same parking lot! No deposit! And they take cash! FYI the best time to take a shower is between 2 o'clock and 5 o'clock in the morning that is when the water gets super hot! If they had 10 stars, I would give them 11! Lol
The room was dirty. The Lady that checked me in was extremely rude. The first room smelled like pee. There was screws and nails all over the floor. I cut the bottom of my foot on a nail. The lady that checked me in over charged me....
We had an awesome stay. Sam was amazing and very attentive to our needs coming there to stay with a 6yr old heart patient before and after surgery. All the staff was very concerned and attentive to all our needs.
Hotel is old dirty and items renovated were poorly done. Rooms walls and floor are patched. Old vents, noisy and covered in lint and dust! Old batteries in remote. Door didn't unlock or lock easily. Door had to be lifted open once unlocked. Spend some extra money and stay elsewhere!
I would not recommend this hotel due to the tv not working. The bathroom tub was rusted and not properly cleaned. The stale cigarette smoke was intense. The staff member came into my room unsupervised and without permission.
We were pleasantly surprised. Nice breakfast in the mornings. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Front desk staff was very helpful. Would stay again if in the area again. Had to cut trip short and they were able to refund the remaining nights we couldn't stay quickly. 10/10
Everyone was pleasent, was able to rest well, wash up, was safe there, no damage to my vehicle, breakfast was very good, the staff there was very good! Spoke with a gentleman upon arrival to find the main entrance - I arrived very late, He pointed me in the right direction..
I would not recommend this hotel. It has roaches and black mold . I have asthma and each room they put me in smelled of mold. This hotel needs some serious repairs. I barely slept and as soon I confirmed another hotel , I left promptly.
What I liked most about the hotel was the location. Being close t the main highway is a plus and our rooms were clean and comfortable. Although my stay was short, our host Sam was great. Hopefully next time we will get to use the pool.
Great place to stay clean and comfortable and cost efficient. I will recommend other businesses too stay. Very convenient location which makes this place my choice to stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
DO NOT stay here if your just a regular traveler. The hotel is dumpy and the staff could care less whether you are staying there or not. Worst experience I've ever had in my entire 68 years of traveling and I travel a lot.
The only complaint was the pillows. Otherwise room was comfortable and the suite was well worth the price. Staff were courteous. The room was clean, no complaint when asked to refresh linen. Quiet environment .
After breakfast, I notified front desk of the existing open window gap, while the window is closed on 3rd floor, and he said he will work on switching me to another room because bugs flew inside. I got minimal sleep while hearing all the traffic noise since the window is incapable of closing. Also, the fridge gurgled and whirred all night which added additional unwanted noise. Front desk was unsuccessful in finding a room, so I had to speak to the other front desk guy later that night. He gave me a different 3rd floor room access card to move to, however this room's window is identical and doesn't seal shut either. So he found a different 3rd floor room and sure enough, all three rooms have gaps in their windows where it wasn't installed flush against the window frame because the window glass itself is too small for the opening. So all 3 windows can leak when it's raining and have bugs zipping in because of these gaps. Then he found us a 2nd floor room and it was terrifying having people arguing right outside our door at all hours after midnight. Women had been fighting in front of the lobby and the front desk man had to walk outside and speak with them. My young child was extremely frightened as we have never been exposed to a scary, harsh environment prior to that Friday night. We absolutely did NOT feel safe there, but it was a non-refundable reservation so I felt stuck there at that dump in disrepair, knowing they couldn't offer my money back. It was a truly sickening feeling being stuck a 2nd night at an extremely non-family friendly hotel where a considerable number of people are living in this hotel. Beer bottles lined up near their door, and the intoxicated man barely having capability to stand, and he was vomiting over the rail edge of the 2nd floor walkway, maybe 8 doors down from us. It was brutal to remain on edge while trying to sleep before continuing another leg of our 4-hour road trip. Hotel occupants who lived there had their garbage bags overflowing with belongings both outside of and inside the front lobby. I had to go back down to the front desk after seeing that there was no hair conditioner in the room, and he looked and said that the hotel is out of stock. So we had to run out to the store at 10:30pm to buy our own hair conditioner since the hotel cannot afford to provide a simple item. Also, they refuse to open the pool for guest use. It's closed August 2023. I was stunned that this is a "by Best Western" hotel
Bed was comfortable, bathroom needed a good bleach cleaning. Good location. Staff was friendly and it was an easy check in and out. Convenient location for a quick bit to eat and around a lot of shops.
OK, let's face it. This is a cheap hotel. With that being said, I think that should be taken into consideration with the price. Now with that being said, I think that hygiene is always a must and should always be considered in any review, no matter how cheap a hotel or motel could possibly be. So, with that out of the way, Let's break it down between the good and the bad. The bad: -Cigarette burns on sheets -Stains from bodily fluids on protector under sheets, -No one is on the same page when it comes to pet rules -As with any cheaper hotel, you will have some riff raff around -Tub wasn't cleaned well -Only one pet allowed -Pool was not working upon arrival The good: -Price -Great, cold air conditioning -Full, free hot breakfast every morning -Nice staff for the most part -Pool -Fitness room -Cable TV -All other amenities This place certainly gives you knew one heck of a bang for the buck and that is why I've given it three stars. This hotel could easily hit five stars if they just spent a little bit of money on paint, stop allowing riffraff to hang out (woman sleeping on ground outside half my stay that looked like a prostitute while some guy walking around on his cell like a pimp and acting sketchy the whole time was going on), and raised their care for being sanitary. Cigarette burned sheets must always be thrown out and charged to the renter every single time. Same with blood stains on mattress protectors. I don't care if it's the protector and I'm not sleeping directly on it - it's under my sheets and unsanitary. That being said, for the price I'd stay again, but it could easily be a four star for the price with some TLC. I must mention one lady was especially a sweetheart that works the front desk and she was so nice to me and my dog. Several things need to be updated though, including the TV channels on the guide that they leave in your room because they are all incorrect, as well as the rules that they have in place for people renting because no one is on the same page. But regardless, it was a decent room for an absolutely amazing price considering they had a gym as well as a pool even though it wasn't open at the time and it workout room and all the other amenities that were available to me. While I was there, I created a guide for the TV with the updated channels that I will list at the end of this review but I did not get everything, so if someone messages me the rest I will certainly update that for anyone to use who stays h
We booked this room and when we arrived we should have just cancelled. We had our service dog with us and the comment was made that he hoped our dog didn't bark all night. When what should have been worried about was the drug affects outside yelling til almost 11 pm. The hallway smelled like piss and interior of room wasn't any better with stained chairs and it looked like dirt that was cleaned out of a syringe on the walls. The only plus was they had spotlights in the parking lot that shined right in the windows. I will not be staying at anymore best westerns because of this.
Price was pretty good. Everything worked in the room. Pool was not available with no explanation. The room was clean. Elevator was too hot. Parking lot lights were super bright. Dog was comfortable and happy.
Without a doubt this is the Worst hotel I've ever checked into. Only stayed one hour out of the two nights I had booked. Just long enough to book another hotel. Did not even request a refund, we just wanted out of the pot smelling, bug infested room. STAY AWAY!!!
when we first get there, our toliet starts to overfill and go all over the floor and flooding our bathroom. asked about the wi-fi and i received a attitude and still never solved my issue. woke up and had bites all over my legs and my girlfriends leg from bed bugs. also there was a big yellow stain on the other bed
Our stay was very good. Sam was very helpful and pleasant. The room had all the necessities… king bed, refrigerator, microwave and walk in shower. We are looking forward to our next stay in Durham, NC.
I made reservations over the phone and was told that we pay at check out for our room, they took credit card information over the phone and when I arrived made me pay upfront-which would have been fine had I been told that but after a flight hadnt had chance to transfer into my account assuming I would be paying at check out. This may seem like a small detail to some but added huge additional stress. I called back customer service who credit my rewards but ultimately the front desk and manager onsite were very rude about this and it was pretty embarrassing. The hotel itself is old and you could tell they tried to remodel somewhat but it felt like I was staying in a cheap budget motel. Wifi wouldn't connect, and breakfast had limited options to waffles or cereal. I had 3 more upcoming bookings but I will be canceling because its not worth the points to stay in a crap hotel.
No hot water in the shower. The chair n the room had holes in it and stains on it The floor throughout the building is warped. Evening check-in at a little outside window you are not allowed in the lobby...very sketchy
Nice service and no complaints at all. Sam has been doing a great job. The breakfast was good and I enjoyed the room it was clean and presented nice. I would come back to enjoy some more time there at this establishment.
Had been on road for over 15hrs bc I was moving to Durham, NC. I know its holiday time so I was area most hotels would be over $100. I hate that I had to use 5,000 of my points for one night but I had needed to get some sleep so I used this hotel .
If it is all you can afford it will do. The staff is not very friendly or courteous and not all of the amenities work or are what they say they are. I was really disappointed as it is in the best Western line of hotels. I thought their standards were high than what this hotel has to offer.
This is my second review (an update to my first). We checked in, went to our room and immediately walked back to the front desk to check out. The room was dirty, the sheets were stained and the tub was so bad my family did not want to shower in it. It did not feel safe at all. We were assured we would get a refund, 3 weeks later...no refund. I've called and asked to talk to a manager (who is conveniently never in the hotel). I've left 4 messages, each time being assured that I would get a call back. That has not happened yet. Today I asked for their 1-800 number customer service and it looks like through them I will be able to get my refund to go through. I don't ever leave reviews, but wanted to share our experience, in order to help others avoid the same problems we have had.
Customer service at front desk was ride. Waited about 10 minutes for him to come to desk. Hotel reeked of smoke in hallways and elevator. Tim was on, but for a nonsmoking property, the smoke permeated everything. From was spartan. Lampshade was missing from lamp. No water pressure and had towels for 2 not the 3 in the room. I've ma in bed had no ice. A/c worked well ll and hotel wasn't noisy.
Hotel being remodeled. Long dark hallways with lots of equipment along the walls. Floors looked like they pulled up carpet and put laminate down. Floors are very wavy and a tripping hazard. Bed was comfortable. Flat pillows (bring your own) and no blanket was provided on the bed. Our first room had a non-functioning toilet and they moved us to the next room. Windows were dirty (3rd floor) and parking lot lights were directed in our window at night. Can't speak to the breakfast as the hours stated were not correct and we had to check out before 730am. Pick another hotel until this construction is over.
Customer service is horrible. Asked for some bug spray for the giant cockroaches in my room but got nothing but attitude. Called twice but to no avail. Also lots of construction happening in the building. Never. Again.
This had good reviews and was close to our daughter's home, so we thought we'd stay here. It was VERY noisy. Kids running in the hallway until around midnight. I picked up the phone to call the front desk and it had been unplugged. We tried to set the air conditioner to the temp we like and the numbers didn't read well. It ended up reading 47 this morning. It wasn't that cold...but it was chilly and they had no warm blankets. The bed had a couple of sheets with a VERY lightweight "blanket" between and a VERY flimsy spread. Then there were the towels...the bath towel was so small and lightweight it wouldn't dry a child much less an adult. Throughout the night my husband heard someone constantly locking and unlocking their car. Rather peculiar. We were supposed to stay two nights and immediately left in the morning. I can say there were no bugs and there was a cracker barrel next door where we stopped for breakfast. The waitress told me she had heard from others how noisy the place was. Oh...and forget the free hot breakfast. They had a toaster and a few items to go into it. Oh...and another oddity...when have you ever gone to a hotel and had to enter the elevator from the outside of the hotel! Not at all secure.
