The room was fine other than the tub draining slowly. Having a $100 hold for a hotel in Dalhart, TX is a little absurd. Today I notice that I have a $40 charge from this hotel that has posted to my bank (not pending like the $100). This was a stay paid completely by points.
I loved this place, reminded me of the classic motels from my childhood. I was greeting with enthusiasm by Gabriel and welcomed to the hotel. I was impressed when he called to check in with me to make sure that everything in my room was to my satisfaction. The facility is well maintained, the beds were comfortable, with lots of pillows. The breakfast assortment was okay.
The dogs barking were unacceptable and the front desk was understaffed. Horrible night, I tried to dial the front desk "0" and got a message saying, "We aren't able to accept your call right now," There were at least 2 god barking all night. It really sucked.
Rooms very clean, and comfortable. Staff very helpful, breakfast was good. Just be aware this is not a hotel, but a motel, doors to rooms are outside, and no elevator to 2nd floor. If you are good with that, this is a fine property. Bear in mind, if hauling a trailer, there is no drive thru, it is essentially a dead end parking lot.
After a long days drive we were eager to get a room for the night. The gentleman host was so pleasant and helpful. Room was super clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really good and complete. This was a great find! Recommend this place highly
This hotel is good for a one night stay. Nothing fancy, but adequate and easy to just pull over. There is a train that goes thru and is pretty loud, but we only heard it once during the night. No elevator so if you don't want to carry your stuff up ask for a first floor room. They had a pretty big selection of items for breakfast.
Quick lay over and found the motel CLEAN and comfortable. It' an older motel, but they have done a good job with up grades. The breakfast was outstanding! Very friendly staff.
This hotel easily met Best Western standards. The front desk gentleman was outstanding and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He even called us in the evening to make sure our room was meeting our expectations and that everything was working properly.
This hotel is an oasis in the midst of a great deal of train and truck traffic. You can park in front of your room and access it directly from the parking lot which makes it much more convenient—especially if you have a lot of stuff. There are trains going by at all hours, but we have stayed here several times over the years and have never had any difficulty sleeping. The room was great with a large refrigerator and a microwave. The breakfast and breakfast room were superior. I highly recommend this hotel.
Room was clean, didn't notice any mysterious stains anywhere, nor weird odors. Bed was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was better than other 'budget' hotels I've stayed at...eggs, biscuits, gravy, home fries, good selection of condiments, and the usual cereal/fruit/bread/bagels/muffins, blah blah blah. There are train tracks nearby, was told upon check in, and offered earplugs. I declined cuz I like the sound of trains. While in the room I didn't much notice them passing by, maybe the occassional toot/whistle, but I had the fan on.
Room was very nice and staff was pleasant, and a great breakfast. The reason for the POOR rating is location. This hotel is right on the main highway. Truck traffic late into the night, and started up early in the morning in addition, the train tracks are right across the highway, and Train horns go off throughout the night because of a nearby crossing. Be aware of the location
This hotel was a great place to stop on our road trip to Arizona. Great staff. I wish every hotel had a front desk staff that was as friendly and helpful as this place. They made a great effort to inform you of the noise even providing eye plugs. So no surprises. The room was clean and very comfortable. Just what we needed after a long day driving.
The staff here did a phenomenal job showing up, turning rooms, answering a hundred phone calls and plowing the parking lot. I along with many others were stranded in a scary white out and this hotel helped!!!!! They all deserve a huge round of applause and bonus! You are truly hard working Americans For mgmt to consider is newer mattresses and bedding. The price did not equal the quality of the room
Had no idea this area would have overpriced hotels. Hampton inn and La Quinta at $175!!!!!! Next to a railroad track. No!!!!!!! Have never stayed at a best western. Best decision. The outside doesn't look great but it's very well lit. Which we like. Check in lady was super nice and accommodating. Rooms are small BUT clean. Tiny bathroom BUT clean. Beds were comfortable. Yes you hear the train and traffic they offer ear plugs but we always bring our white noise machine. Well worth NOT STAYING at the overpriced other places just because they can. Hate that.
Dalhart is a railroad town. The BNSF and UP intersect here, and no matter where you are in town, you can hear the train whistles. All. Night. Long. Otherwise, it was a decent stay, and priced considerably cheaper than the shiny new Hampton a few blocks away.
We had a great stay at the BW Nursanickel Hotel. Thank you to your caring staff who recommended a unique local restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday!! As they are located close to a railroad, they offered us earplugs upon registration, which we declined and were able to sleep very soundly. This was the first hotel that actually disclosed the potential noise and even had a cute portrait of a train with a sign acknowledging air plugs were available. What honesty! There was ample parking and the area was quiet and safe We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
This place does not show a good site outside but when we stayed it was clean room was great. I can not give any recommendations on breakfast we were in and out with the situation we were dealing with so don't know about anything else really. Just nice place to lay your head
We had to try three rooms to find one that did not stink of smoke (it is a "non-Smoking“ hotel). AFTER I signed, initialed, and finished check-in, I was told that a train passes by the hotel several times, throughout the day and night, and that they would supply ear plugs if we wanted some. The train went by in the evening and a few times overnight, and was too loud to sleep through. (Have you even seen the movie "My Cousin Vinny"? A lot like that.) Interestingly, the room phone had the wrong room number. That could cause confusion and make an urgent situation worse. The woman who checked us in and showed us the rooms was very helpful. When my wife called the front desk later with a question and found Leslie very helpful as well (maybe the same woman?). The Wi-Fi speed was quite fast at 80-100Mbps. The breakfast was typical, good BW breakfast. There was a strong odor of cattle in the morning, which made the breakfast a little less appealing than it might have been (we had to walk outside to get to breakfast, which is how we encountered the odor). Overall, if I were Best Western I would not be proud of having this property under my corporate umbrella.
We did not know the hotel is located right on the side of the busy highway. On top of that, we were told there will be trains running through two or three times at night. They did offer us ear plugs. We asked for a quieter room further away from the highway but only found that we were placed on the very first room on the 2nd floor that closest to the entrance by the highway. Room is nice and clean. However, we won't stay in this hotel next time.
The desk clerk offered ear plugs due to passing trains, the bathroom we had was not ADA compliant, walker did not fit thru the door. The room was recently remodeled and very nice! Hard mattress though
I always have a good experience at his Hotel. The rooms are in great condition and are extremely clean. The staff is very good and the breakfast meal was excellent. The only thing that wasn't very good were the trains blowing their horns through the night.
This hotel is wonderful. Very clean, the staff is attentive and friendly, the breakfast is delicious, and the bathtubs are very deep with jets! The outside of the hotel is not fancy but this is a great place to lay your head while passing through. The Great Wall Chinese restaurant in the area is delicious with very fast delivery.
Our check-in was efficient but unwelcoming, parking was tight, and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The location was conveniently located just off of the highway, but the town smelled like a barn and the VERY loud train whistled throughout the night.
Nursanickel is a good, clean older motel that has kept the property up to good standards in my opinion. The building may be a bit older, but the management has updated the rooms since our last stay several years ago. The room was clean and AC was comfortable, beds were comfortable enough. Only issue we had was a worn out plug at the vanity, but we managed. Breakfast offers hot, cold and continental choices. Good value in Dalhart, Texas!
Time was good. Parking was very tight. Rooms was clean. Heater never really got hot but it was okay. Did not try breakfast so can not really leave anything on that Overall not a bad place to stay. I would stay there again
Grounds and room were kept up and clean. The hotel is an aged hotel with all outside doors and there is no escaping the aged appearance. However, the hotel is a pretty good value. Staff were helpful and polite and breakfast was good. I would bump my rating up to 3.5.
The staff was courteous, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was good. I would not be opposed to staying here again. The only downside is the nearby railroad tracks. The hotel offers earplugs for those that may have their sleep interrupted by the passing train..
Booked one night here 5 years ago through Expedia. The rate was $195 for the night. When I inquired why the rate was so high the manager told me their standard rate was $90 per night. I would advise calling the hotel direct when looking for a room.
The beds were comfortable. The breakfast have a large variety to choose from. Staff very friendLy. Across from train tracks, given ear plugs, but those don't completely shut out train whistle..rooms a good size
Excellent hotel! After staying at a few substandard places on this trip we decided to up our budget. The price wasn't really that much more but the result was well worth it. Friendly efficient staff at check-in and our room was clean and very comfortable. Topping it off was a great breakfast buffet (waffles, eggs, sausage, pastries etc) and the coffee machine made delicious coffee and even hot chocolate just the way you want it! Overall a great experience !
This hotel doesn't look like much on the outside but the rooms have been renovated and had new carpet and bedding. It is basic but I would definitely stay there again. We were able to walk to Subway so that was a plus for us!
We checked in exhausted and changed into pajamas. I went to use the restroom and found dried excrement on the toilet near the flush handle and hairs on the corner of the bathtub. I figured out that if the cleaning lady had flung the shower curtain open to clean the tub it would have covered both excrement and hairs while she was cleaning--the only way I can explain how this was missed. Also spots of dried something on inside of front door. I cleaned the excrement with spray cologne and TP because I was too exhausted to dress, pack up and leave--as the hotel was full, so no room change. I had trouble with the inet so the desk clerk came over and we figured out it doesn't work with Firefox. I showed her the pictures of the poop, hairs and door. She just looked at me and walked out. If I were her, I would have had the maid in to sanitize the room and knocked off 50% off the bill. Property is right on a busy intersection with lots of big trucks going by and a train track across the street (they have free ear plugs). Rooms and bathrooms are really small. This was one of the more expensive Best Westerns I've stayed at out of maybe 10 so far in the last 12 months and was the worst. If it weren't so expensive (I think it was $132 with tax) and the clerk had handled the situation appropriately, I would have considered staying here again if I absolutely had to. As it is, I would rather sleep in my car at a rest stop.
I thought the sign at the check in desk was a joke. "Ear Plugs Provided For Our Guests"(?) Train tracks across the street were no joke, all night long. $130 a night was too much for a continually disturbed night's "sleep." Never gain!
I was driving home from Phoenix and thought Albuquerque and Tucumcari were still too far from home during a 16 hour drive, so I thought I'd just keep driving. Highway 54, that cuts through parts of New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and then into Kansas(Wichita was my final destination) travels through a lot of small towns with not much in them. I found this was the case as I left Tucumcari and started NE on Highway 54. Not much until I got to Dalhart, Texas. This location was the first I saw and they had a room. I'd been driving for over 11 hours, it was dark and I was tired. The young lady at the desk apologetically said that all they had was 2nd floor rooms. I didn't care, I needed a bed in a room. The AC was cold, the bed was comfortable and warm. The only drawback I saw was the tub/shower was extremely small, but I wasn't spending the night in the tub. I slept well, despite being close to the train tracks, so close, in fact, that the hotel offered ear plugs just in case you needed them. I heard two trains, but that was before I went to sleep, nothing after that. The two I heard didn't seem all the loud. The room was clean and pretty well appointed, two queens were all they had, so one bed was unused. Breakfast was hot and plentiful, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, toast, juice, and more. The only problem I had with this location was the size of the parking lot, there just didn't seem to be enough room. There is a pool, but it is outdoors and had not opened for the season yet. Would I stay here again, most likely, if I ever travel this way again!
Very well-run hotel with professional and kind staff. Rooms are clean, breakfast was well-stocked and in spite of being in a very busy location, the room was relatively quiet with the only noise coming through (albeit muffled) was the train horn.
From the outside you may not be impressed but the inside was perfect for us! Absolutely no complaints. Super clean! Very comfortable beds! Friendly and helpful staff! Easy check in and check out. Breakfast was hot and delicious. Lots of choices of breakfast items.
The Best Western is a nicely maintained older property. Parking is tight if they are full. Notice the container of ear plugs when checking in. That's a hint! I'm not a light sleeper, but I got no sleep due to the train horns and semi trucks braking & taking off. I left the fan on to help deaden the noise, but it wan't enough. I feel badly for the hotel, but I will make a better choice next time when we need to stop in this area.
Friday Night February 11, 2022: I stopped at BW right after dark to get a single. Lady on duty at front desk was most helpful and I obtained a single quickly and went to my room, got my belongings situated for the night, and went back to the office to take advantage of the computer available for customer use. I sat there checking ballgame scores and results and reading articles like I do at home while numerous travelers stopped in. I couldn't help but notice how professional, yet personable, the lady at the front desk was to each and every visitor who entered the motel during the hour and a half I was in there. She answered question after question, demonstrating grace and patience to all who entered. I have traveled a lot in my life, and her attitude and helpfulness is not something you bump into every day! The lady had relocated from the Austin area to Dalhart - talk about a change! She is an asset to this motel and I wanted to point same out to the owner/manager, who likely already knows this. I highly recommend this BW motel to all and will be back in the future. By the way, the breakfast was very good, sausage, eggs, and biscuits for me May all of your employees be of the same caliber.....
The staff went out of their way to help me when first I got stranded there do to weather conditions and had to keep extending my stay and then on the day I was leaving and my vehicle broke down they helped ne get a towing service and gave me a late check out without any problems.
We have stayed with Best Western hotels whenever possible. BW has several levels of how they rate each hotel. The “Plus” seems to indicate above average service and accommodations. I am not a snob when it comes to hotels so when I see BW in the middle of no where I know what to expect. For instance on Route 54 through OK/KS you will find fewer stars awarded those BW. The motels are serviceable. These towns are built along the railroad. Be aware of train whistles.
We travel this route frequently and have stayed in other properties in Dalhart. We'll be staying here at BW in the future. Not the easiest location to get into from the street, but worth the effort in comparison to other motels in the area. Room was nice sized, clean, everything worked as expected, and we slept well. Staff at check-in was so professional, friendly and helpful.
This was our second time staying at this hotel. Both times we had a great stay, clean rooms and excellent service. Breakfast was really good, a variety of a hot breakfast or a cold one. We would definitely stay here again.
This is not the place for you if you have problems with noise - it's on a very busy highway and also there is a substantial amount of train traffic. It's nicer than it looks from the highway and the breakfast was very good.
This hotel is well-located for us. It is a basic stay with a good hot breakfast (although we still need to take it back to the room to eat.) I appreciate their attention to safety. I always request a lower level room because there is no elevator.
The room was ok, and the beds are comfortable. I just have one grip, clean up the dead flies and fly poop! Really, is it so hard? Disgusting. Makes you wonder what else didn't they clean. You can tell my the pictures that this window sill hasn't been wiped in a long time. Best Western wasn't the best in this case. And bring ear plugs for the train noises.
>>I am currently in room xxx at the hotel. Yes, right now on 09/17/2021. After a 10 hour drive I do not expect to have to kill flies in our room. Two whacked on the toilet seat and promptly flushed. Two I mangled on the sink faucet and whooshed their wiggling bodies down the drain. The remaining two I had to slow down in flight using Cutter's bug repellant so I could expedite their demise. How repulsive. Flies would be expected if I were camping. This is disgusting. And, even as I type another little bugger flew past. Refunding my money is the least I should expect from the NOT Best Western. James …A very unhappy traveler. 2 hours later…..I HAVE NOW KILLED AN ADDITIONAL 3 FLIES…. THEY'RE SO BOLD I EVEN TOOK PICS…. I THINK ONE WAS SNEERING AT ME…..…. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST……. I WISH I COULD LEAVE BUT IT‘S NOW NEARLY 11PM. I PROBABLY WONT SLEEP A WINK………. WHAT AN AWEFUL PLACE…… Still James and an even more unhappy traveler….. Left at 3:30am. We felt as though things were crawling on us.
I found this to be a clean, safe and comfortable place to stay. Not at all fancy, but I don't think anyplace in Dalhart is more than basic. Some reviewer complained about the smell. The entire town smells like cow poop. It's a ranch town. DUH!! And the motel is right on the main highway and the very active railroad is right across the street. And every motel in town is in the same situation. Highway noise was pretty light, with the occasional big rig making a commotion while braking. And there were 2 trains that rolled thru the night I was there, but not a big deal. Overall, if you have to stay in Dalhart this would be the place. Room was very clean, a little worn, but the carpet looked newer. And Tempi, the staffer was super nice and efficient and even called the room to make everything was OK. Can't beat that.
Despicable service and experience. I know it's a franchise, but Best Wester should take some responsibility - they just lost a customer. I made a booking via hotels.com months ago, used my reward points, and paid in advance for the rest (I have a proof for that, despite the manager claiming otherwise). To my surprise, after a long drive (I arrived at 10.20pm), there was no reservation. They claimed I canceled it (I didn't). It took a completely clueless concierge 40min (!!!) to actually get me a room (that I was charged for again, imagine paying £250 for a nightmare). Then there was an issue with my card (on their system), the manager stepped in and told me he needed to take a photo of my passport and card (!!!). I refused and was told that they need a proof that I am who I say I am! The name on the passport matched the one on the card After all their screw-ups they managed to make the whole experience even worse. I will not let it be, I am raising a complaint with hotels.com and Best Western HQ.
We arrived to a clog toilet. Called the front desk and was told they have a plunger and we'd need to take care of it ourselves. Not okay! This is absolutely disgusting. The lady at the front desk was also placing a dinner order when we arrived, extending the time we had to wait to check in.
This is this is quite a nice hotel even though the outside appearance is a little shabby the room I stayed in was very nice. The check-in was very easy and the young lady who helped me was very professional and thorough. I can't remember her name but I think it started with a T. The shower was great and there were plenty of towels. I heard the very loud train when I was awake but it didn't wake me up during the night. This hotel must be located close to a feedlot or a stockyard because you can definitely smell it. That's not the fault of the hotel and it really didn't bother me. The breakfast was not impressive as you had a few choices but you had to carry it all back to your room. The checkout was really easy because all you had to do was open the curtains and leave the key card in the room. Overall I thought this was a nice place to stay.
Clean room, helpful staff. Because of COVID, I was diverted from Amarillo. As I pulled up, I was a bit concerned. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised that it was clean and neat. Bathroom is tub with toilet combination. I wish they would swap out the light bulbs in the room (currently bright white — reminds me of a hospital or office) to a soft white would help with ambiance. Beds were comfortable. I did hear train one evening, but it did not wake me. I would stay here again if needed.
Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. It is an older hotel but it was clean and I thought the rates were reasonable. I know the pool was closed because of Covid but it could use some tidying up to approve the overall appearance of the hotel. Never heard the train!
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The beds were comfy, the rooms clean. They even provided some good breakfast options. The staff was very helpful and provided us with some additional essentials during our stay.
This hotel is small, but had everything needed to be comfortable for an overnight stay. There is a train near, it it didn't bother us in the night. We were given ear plugs in case it did. Very pleased with this hotel and would stay here again.
I have stayed in this hotel more than one night on 2 different occasions in the last 12 months and can't find the words to say just how nice everyone was and the room was nicer and cleaner than resorts I've stayed at in the past. The staff were welcoming and kind and were respectful and agreeable to my personal requests while staying there.
Cons: Pool is closed due to a broken pump. Breakfast is takeout only. Train is close, frequent, and loud even with fan on high. Pros: Rooms are clean and well equipped with larger mini fridge and microwave. AC works well. No weird smells. Not worth the price, but we were ready to take a break from driving.
We stayed here on our anniversary trip just passing through. When I booked this room however I was unaware of the train tracks right across the street. This did call for a very unpleasant night after working and the. Starting our trip. The bedding was not the cleanest but the bed itself was comfortable. The staff was friendly and nice as well!
Though this hotel may not be a 5 star, it was perfect for our needs. My family traveled from Oklahoma to Colorado and enjoyed our stay so much we planned the trip to stay at the Nurseanickle on the way back home. The rooms were clean and fit our basic needs. But the staff, specifically Tempi, made the stay delightful. It was refreshing to be greeted by someone happy and positive. She's really the reason we came back through. Thank you Tempi for a great stay. And thank you for introducing the license pull tab! We'll be back through in September and hope to see you then.
Tempilee I think is what her name tag said but she is absolutely awesome and very helpful with anything and everything you need with your stay at the best western and will make sure it is as best as she can make it for you very friendly and professional and guaranteed to have you come out of there laughing
Dalhart is not a town to expect many lodging options. I selected this hotel because they had the best overall reviews + ratings. It's hard to maintain an older property. The management is dedicated to keep everything up to the best possible standards. My room was exceptionally clean, everything was working and the beds were comfortable. My family and I had a great night's sleep. Don't expect a big breakfast due to COVID-19, but there were sufficient continental options. However, the highlight of our stay was a welcoming and thoughtful representative named Tempe who checked us in. Her attitude and demeanor were as nice as I have ever encountered and I would stay here again as a result! The room was a bit pricey, especially with a dog, but I wouldn't risk staying elsewhere! (Also, ask where the XIT Steakhouse is. You couldn't find a better meal in North Texas!)
This was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but it smelled like it might have been a "smoking room" the night before - so terrible smell. Facility is very close to the RailRoad Crossing for a major intersection - to the blaring signal horn is very loud for every train - it did seem to stop about 11:30 pm until 5:00 am - I needed to be on the road early - so I just used it as a "wake up call" Internet speed was very slow Room was clean (other than the cigarette smell" and full breakfast was available and tasty - easy carry out food.
the front desk was very nice and helpful. Beware very close to railroad crossing but they did offer earplugs. clean non smoking rooms. strange that the 2 restaurants we wanted to try (a Chinese and a BBQ) were both closed on a Saturday? oh well we had a decent dinner at a closely chicken place
We were glad to have a choice of waffle and/or eggs, sausage, and biscuit to plate in the breakfast room and eat in our room. I appreciate that the hotel has returned amenities while continuing to keep safety guidelines.
The room was very clean we asked for a 1st fl because we was traveling with our dog an we we've very happy that they accommodated us on short notice we would recommend this hotel even the lady at the front desk was very professional
We had a nice stay at this place. The lady at the counter was friendly and offered us some earplugs because the train tracks are right behind the hotel. We declined the earplugs and we only heard one train the entire time we were there. It is a bit older building but it was very clean. Also, the pet deposit was only $15! Bonus!
This hotel was clean and accomodating. My usual points of concern are the TV, and bathroom. The TV was easy to figure out even the closed captioning that is necessary for me. The bathroom was clean, but small due to the in-room Jet tub.
Hard to believe in this modern era, but the clerk gave my reserved and paid for room to someone else- and no rooms left for my family except a smoking room. The manager doesn't answer the phone, and all I can say is FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY.
We had not planned to stop but it was getting late. They welcomed us with no problem. The room was clean and fresh (like a Best Western should be) but to my great surprise, the bed was great. We slept like babies and were up the next morning with bells on for breakfast and on with the drive.
Not Covid safe and I don't recommend it if that is important to you. Read below. The hotel is fine enough for a brief stop, the room seemed newly updated and the fridge, microwave, and television worked well. The bed was comfortable. Coffee machine in lobby is great. You could hear people in other rooms and outside so definitely use those earplugs they provide. The biggest concern however and one that will absolutely 100% not bring us back here again, is the lack of mask wearing by staff, incorrect mask wearing, and what appeared to be a flippant response about feedback regarding masks. Per signs on the door and local rules, masks are required in the lobby. When I checked in there were two unmasked workers/contractors in the small lobby working with the manager to fix something. No concern for guests and check in was slow so had to hang In there with these folks. Manager's mask hanging half off his face with nose exposed both days I saw him. Empty hand sanitizer station. In the morning, staff cleaning rooms were without masks too. Manager said it's because they get sweaty but seemed to be unconcerned with this feedback. Maskless cleaning people's health is put at risk too with this behavior. Disappointing, won't be back here nor a Best Western as it was so lax. Didn't feel safe and I would not trust any of their protocols based on this experience.
The room was OK for one night. However, it is an extremely noisy place - sirens, trains, car horns and the bed was very, very uncomfortable. The breakfast in a bag was full of sugary items. We were so happy our stay was only the one night! Would not recommend.
Check-in was easy, and we were assigned an upstairs room, based on my request. The stairs are quite steep, and our room was a ways down the outdoors hallway. The room was very clean and comfortable. We particularly liked the four smaller pillows on each queen bed. We used the microwave for one of our dinner sandwiches (we brought food with us), and it worked very well. The fridge was a bit colder than I realized, so our breakfast orange slices were almost frozen, but that was because I turned the temperature dial in the wrong direction. With my husband's sound machine and the heating unit, we really did not hear the nearby trains. We were given earplugs upon check-in. The single cup coffee maker worked okay, and I found they have a good coffee maker in the lobby. They offered grab and go breakfasts that were quite generous. If we ever stay in Dalhart again, we would definitely choose this Best Western hotel.
We stayed two nights the first week in October. It was a great base as we visited several other nearby states. Staff was great. Grab and go breakfast was good. Fabulous coffee dispenser. There is a choice of brew or . Train noise did not bother me, plus we were given ear plugs at the front desk. The room was clean and quiet and well organized. My biggest complaint was the parking. We think we were there at the beginning of hunting season. The trucks in the lot were oversized and took up a lot of room. It was very difficult for us to park and get in and out. Even during covid, it was a reasonably pleasant place to stay.
There are few options but the Best Western is hands down the best place to stay. Customer service is great, pool is outstanding, and you can tell they value their customers. Only complaint is the train noise from across the street, but you will have that with almost all hotels in town.
The staff is always pleasant- the overnight people are who I see most though. That isnt even the best part-these beds and pillows are a dream. Its across the street from railroad tracks and the train going through has NEVER woken me up. Breakfast used to be on point and amazing but its the covid-19 so you can get a pastry in a bag if you want, nothing else. Which is disappointing. I always check in and out with ease and would recommend this hotel to everyone!
Travelling through and needed a place to get a few hours sleep. Room was way over priced. Thin walls and was woken up by every train passing through. Front desk suggested ear plugs. They weren't kidding. Felt like My Cousin Vinny. Need a place to stay? Push on to Clayton or Dumas. Will not be stopping in Dalhart again.
We were very pleased with the cleaning protocols this hotel advertised. Traveling in a pandemic was stressful enough and knowing someone had gone the extra mile to make the place sanitary (even if you were going to Lysol the place anyway) gave us peace of mind. The room was not the biggest but was adequate. The bathroom, however, was the smallest I had ever seen--even by big city standards. Beds were very comfortable as were the pillows. We were concerned by the train noise comments left by several other reviewers. I slept through every one of them, but my wife did not. They give you ear plugs at check in so they are aware of the problem. Not a lot can be done about it. The parking lot was a little tight but manageable. Easy drive to restaurants and shopping. A breakfast to go was provided.
Made a reservation on line stating we wanted ground floor/and dog accommodations. Seems like they don't check their online bookings all that well. They were surprised we had dog, but it is pet friendly as stated. We did not get out first floor room though. Really noisy between trains blowing there crossing warnings, motorcycle revving and traffic noise in general. Rooms were very clean
We were traveling through this area when the Panhandle was having a bad spike of Covid19. We were concerned about our accommodations in this situation, so were relieved to see this hotel's use of virus-killing technology and made a reservation. This is an older motel (back in the style of exterior corridors) but the rooms (at least the one we were in) was very nicely cleaned, undated and well maintained: clean grout in bathroom , carpet unstained, everything painted. Also, the bedding was surprisingly nice for this type of hotel, the AC worked well/quietly, and the walls seemed to block any neighboring noise. The check-in clerk gave us a sanitized TV remote in a sterilized bag, and breakfast was a "grab-and-go" bag with fruit, yogurt and a packaged danish. The outside corridors make it easier to avoid other people, elevators or narrow halls, and also mean fewer door knobs to touch. The only thing that was inconsistent with this otherwise covid-safe hotel is that the clerks didn't wear masks or have a plastic barrier at their station. Even so, I would stay here again if in the area.
When we pulled into the hotel, couldn't believe it was the same place as in the photos. Much smaller than I expected. The surrounding area left much to be desired. On the bright side, the room was clean and Hina at the front desk was very nice.
Stay here recently one night on the way home..rooms are modern ,nicely appointed and staff are very pleasant.overall a very nice place to stay.with a reasonable price...convenient to several restaurants also a plus
This motel was very clean and the outside area was very clean. The bed was comfortable. This motel is old and the breakfast was just average. The staff was very courteous. The office and breakfast was a separate building from the rooms as is the case in older motels. We could back our vehicle right up to our door to load and unload which was convenient.
Best Western Dalhart is MY favorite place to stay when traveling from California to Oklahoma. It is a great little town. VERY hospitable and friendly!! The Food is unBEATABLE!! Great range of food. The Xit10 is an UNFORGETTABLE Steak House. The Golf Course has a great Sports Bar. Atmosphere in both places is down homey and VERY comfortable!!
We stayed here on our way through town and it was very clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast area was a little small though. Overall, this hotel was nice enough and we would stay here again. Xxxxx
We chose Best Western Nursanickel as a resting place between the DFW area and Denver when we drove up to see our son. They are pet friendly, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast offered was above average. There is a nearby train, but other than that, it's a quiet, clean place to stay. They do offer ear plugs at the front desk, but the train didn't bother us at all.
Modern, renovated rooms. Well above quality typical at this price. Like motel meets Westin. Helpful staff. Above average breakfast too with real eggs and an espresso machine. I'd definitely return here.
The reviews looked good, but it is only an okay hotel with good service. The room was clean, but the breakfast was far from tasty. Just okay. Be aware that if you don't want to be lulled to sleep by the sound of a train, this may not be a good hotel for you. Many of the hotels in town are close to the train tracks.
Just passing through and after a long day, stayed at this fine hotel. The staff was very friendly and I will come back again. It was very reasonably priced and exceptionally well worth it. I really appreciate this type of business.
Real quick check in and express check out. No problems with the room. Would recommend. The TV was the only issue we had. It would freeze up sometimes. The cleanliness of room was awesome. The location was convenient.
All Good! they warn ya about the Train that come through a lot even offer ya ear plugs! Yes the train comes through but I only heard it twice during the night and we had a nice upstairs King bed room on end next to the highway and the train tracks across the street. Never heard the road noise but did hear the train horn twice. One time I guess depends on conductors laid on he horn and that one woke me up. Thought it was in the room with us! HA! Ha. It was all good! The hot breakfast for a small place was great and they had these Madeleines (cake/cookie item ) they were awesome. This is older BW with no elevators and all doors open to walkway outside. This place was busy. We were lucky to get a room. It requires planning since there are stairs to 2nd floor we just used our smallest suitcase for an overnight and worked fine.
Reminded me of 1968. We were NOT bothered by train noise. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Everything in the room worked as expected. Hot breakfast was more than adequate. We would gladly stay here again.
Rooms were clean. Pool was the nicest and cleanest pool we saw anywhere on a weeklong trip. Breakfast was well-stocked. There is a train nearby but they offered earplugs. Honestly we didn't need them, train didn't bother us!
Greeted by a very pleasant receptionist. Room and amenities were very comfortable. May have been in doubt when first arriving, from the exterior, but I was pleasantly surprised by the well manager interior of all the property and the friendly staff. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others.
I stay here regularly, Brandi the manager goes over and beyond for customer service. The rest of the staff needs a big pat on the back for all they do. The rooms are always clean and the water is HOT. Will definitely be back!
I stay here monthly and it's always great service, friendly staff, perfect location for quick convenience, and a comfortable, clean room. The staff and management are always very helpful and accommodating.
Was a little afraid of using a "Best Western" as you just dont always know what you will get. Dalhart is also a small isolated town. But it is actually fine. The rooms are redone, but do have the original footprint. The bathroom was very small. Toiletries are nice, towels fluffy and thick, flat screen TV and mini fridge/microwave, all very nice. Its not hard to tell that a lot of effort has gone into improving the guests experience. Room decor is pleasant and modern. The young lady at reception was quick and sharp as a tack. Just wish I could crack a window for a little fresh air!
I asked for a nonsmoking room, I got one that smelled like deodorizer used to mask the smell of cigarette smoke. The room didn't come with a curtain for the shower. Very disappointed for a 94 dollar room. The ladies at the desk were very pleasant.
Dalhart main area is next to the train tracks, and this hotel is right there too. Lots of train noise, really hard to sleep. Went to a great BBQ place on the edge of town, big and new and the food was great, anyone can tell you the name and directions. Seemed like it belonged in a big city entertainment area. Hotel was nothing special but the staff was nice. Would not stay there again
I have stayed at Nurseanickel every summer since I can't remember when— 1999 I think. It must deliver or I wouldn't still be using it. Therefore I highly recommend it as it, although old, is well maintained, up to date, and the breakfast is perfect (except for the vending machine coffee pot. Slow and inaccurate!)
Traffic, car and train, noise made it difficult to sleep thru the night. Should have known it was going to be really when they suggested we take some ear plugs...after the transaction was already complete!
Room was clean and comfortable, just fine for a mid travel stay. I would use this hotel again. Be aware that Dalhart, Texas has a lot of rail traffic so there are trains all the time. If you are a light sleeper beware. They give out earplugs at the desk and ar not hiding anything. That's just part of being in this town, regardless of hotel.
This was a 5 Star experience! I think this was an older property now remodeled from top to bottom and done so well that it's almist impossible to tell old from new. Cudos to the craftsmen and owners! Top quality motel!
This hotel is much nicer looking and updated compared to others in Dalhart. The breakfast selection is large, but the hot food is below par - the 2 kinds of sausages are funky. One is spongy and the others taste like tiny hot dogs. The room was clean, didn't smell of mold or smoke and temp was good. Staff was friendly. No one slept good as we struggled with the earplugs needed (given at the desk) for the train. But there is a need for some noise insulation in the walls and better windows. We heard everything in the room next to us and outside our windows -cars, doors shutting, conversations felt like they were right in front of our window. I'm going to try 2nd floor next time.
We stay here every time we have business in Dalhart. The ladies at the front desk are always friendly and very helpful. They seem to know us when we check in which makes it nice. The rooms are clean and neat and the rates are reasonable. We will be back.
We stayed one night as we were traveling through the area. From the check in, to the breakfast and then the check out, all the people we dealt with were very pleasant. Breakfast was hot and tasty. We were given a room on the bottom floor because my husband was having trouble with his knees at the same price as the king room that was on the upper floor. They work hard to help you out!
Older style motel that has recently been redone. The bath and toilet are smaller than in more recently build motels, but they were very serviceable. Otherwise the room was up to the standards of recently built establishments, with parking available a the door to the room, which is unusual in more modern construction. Excellent breakfast.
We travel with 3 dogs and this is our favorite motel when we have the pups with us. They have a well lit and spacious pet area, provide bags and a trash can. The motel has exterior access doors which makes it much easier to take the dogs out. The rooms are super clean and comfortable and include all the amenities, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, makeup removal pad, etc. They also had 4 fluffy bath towels plus hand and face towels. The breakfast bar has numerous choices and everything was fresh. We have stayed here numerous times and have always been pleased with the facility.
Check in was a nightmare! Room was ok but could have been cleaner. Towels sucked and need replaced! Plenty of hot water though. Breakfast sucked and there was flies. Flies in the middle of winter?? Wouldn't have stayed here but we got caught in the middle of a snow storm out of nowhere. I feel like they took advantage of this BIG time!
Had a long trip from Houston to Colorado and we were looking to break up the trip. Dalhart was a little more than half way. We read the reviews about the trains, but it did not bother us at all. We got a great night sleep. Breakfast was ready early which was perfect as we were able to get an earlier start.
We love this hotel. Could not improve anything. Trains do come through, but this is a big part of the Dalhart economy. I am sure the noise can be heard from anywhere in town. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I love the parking next to the room -no excessive work in unloading luggage. Breakfast was great. What a value!
The people at the desk were very nice, the location was close to places to eat The only issue is the close proximity to the railroad tracks. The train is very loud . We were provided ear plugs, and we slept very well. The beds were very comfortAble . It's a shame that the hotel has the issue. It's a very nice updated hotel. Very very nice rooms. We would stay again.
We booked room last minute with no problem. No elevator. Ok. Only 2 floors. Very nice staff. Clean and up to date. They gave us earplugs because of a train nearby but it didn't bother us. Free breakfast was decent.
I was grateful that the hotel was in Dalhart. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was fine. The downside to staying in Dalhart might be the train traffic. The trains operate throughout the night. The front desk offers ear plugs for those desiring to sleep. If I needed to be in Dalhart. This would be a great place to spend the night. If I could avoid spending the night in Dalhart, I probably would.
Hotel staff are very courteous when taking our reservation, registering us and answering all our questions. We travel with our small dog and this hotel is very dog friendly. The rooms are always clean and provide everything we need. The hot breakfast is excellent. Love the pool size and cleanliness. We like the quaintness of the hotel and feel very safe.
I checked in my room in August 2018 and I was greeted with a strong stench coming from the bathroom, I saw the shower walls were discolored from water stains. The walls in the shower had absorbed water that caused mold to develop behind the walls. The staff was pleasant and allowed me to change rooms. The second room did not have a bad stench, but the walls in the shower also had visible water damage. In the morning I told the staff that the showers in both of the rooms I stayed in needed to be removed, treated for mold and then rebuilt. When i asked if all of the rooms were in this condition, her response was "I don't know, i have not been in all the rooms." For $100 a night, I expected much more.
This hotel is really nice. Often small town hotels are not up to date or kept up. This one is very nice. We usually stay at another hotel chain but none were close. We were very pleased. We swam in the pool and had a great breakfast. Waffles and all the side items. We will begin staying in BW hotels.
I made a last minute reservation with no problem. The staff was so helpful in where to go eat in Dalhart that evening. The room was excellent. I slept so good and the breakfast was delicious. I will definitely stay here again
I stopped here with my 14 year old grandson and a 12 week old puppy!! I was traveling from San Antonio to Colorado and we were all exhausted by the time we got here. I was very pleased with the facility as it was clean and well laid out for security for an older woman traveling with only the grandson and puppy. The beds were comfortable and the dog walking area was close and well lit. The breakfast was average but well stocked.
From check in to check out, our visit was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, spotless. The weekend we visited was very busy but the staff was both professional and welcoming. We will definitely return.
I've been using Nurseanickel B W for nearly 15 years and it just gets Berber. I was there in June 2018 and already have reservations for this August. The facility has been updated, the entrance from Highway 87 has been greatly improved and as always, the service and friendly reception persists. The Continental breakfast is awesome. Think of whatever comes to mind for breakfast —-it's available—the coffee service is upgraded and Hodie's Bar-B- Cue, two blocks south, can't be topped! The pool is usually uncrowded and it has a swing seat for the disabled to be able to dunk in the water. One negative—the railroad crossing nearby—if noise bothers you, they furnish earplugs. Note the sign behind the Check-In counter.
We stopped in Dalhart just for the night, as we had been driving six hours with two restless children. Received this hotel as part as a “hot deal” on an app. This is an older best western, but the property is very well kept, and parking lot super clean. ?guest check in was easy and staff super friendly for a midnight check in. ?room was cool and extremely clean at arrival. ?toiletries were supplied, iron & board, coffee & maker, large cable flatscreen tv, mini refrigerator, large fluffy clean towels. ?beds were firm and pillows soft and fluffy ?housekeeping very friendly ??continental breakfast had yogurt, bagels, off brand breakfast condiments. Waffles & mini lil' smoky sausages were a delight. Breakfast sausage patties were ok/too greasy for our taste. Coffee was weak, but name brand creamers available. No pictures, as we were in & out quickly.
Our group booked 4 rooms for overnight stay after a family reunion. The check in process went smoothly and the rooms were very clean. They served breakfast which was stand hotel food. There were trains but we were not disturbed by the noise. I would definitely stay here again if I were traveling through Dalhart.
Passing through. I travel with a service dog. No problem checking in. Young lady was very polite. Next morning at breakfast. A different lady was extremely upset about my service dog. She had absolutely no training on ADA Laws. Threat of calling cops. Truly disappointed.
Was a Small hotel,it had clean rooms, had a great hot breakfast. My girls loved the Texas waffles. Did not use outdoor pool due to being too cold but it was clean and nice. Pretty good for a small town. We would stay again.
Driving through and needed a pet friendly stop for the night. Very friendly staff, and a clean, comfortable room. You will hear trains during the night, but they offer earplugs; frankly, the a/c blocks out much of the sound. Again, very friendly staff!
Nice outdoor swimming pool. We were given ear plugs because of three to five trains passing by in the night. However, we did not have to use them because we selected the constant fan option on the A/C for the night and didn't hear the trains.
If you like the construction crowd, then you will love this place. Your BW status doesn't matter so, don't bother using it. The laundry facilities look as though the asphalt crews washed all their tools and tar covered cloths in the machines. Our room was located in the furthest dark and dank portion of the facility with a sink that wouldn't drain and tile looked like some type of science project was being performed there. Not enough ample parking either with one way in and one way out. DON'T bring a trailer!
Last minute after a long day and more than I expected from staff and room quality. Although busy area, I slept sound. The breakfast staff we more than hospitable. They even kept breakfast stocked and opened late so that our day didn't begin rushed, and they did so with smiles, laughter and nice conversation. Well done, Best western!
It was a very nice place to stay and the people were very pleasant and helpful all the time. Other than train which they can't do anything about. Will probably come back this way in the future just to stay here.
On our trip out west to Arizona, we booked a stay at this establishment. It was very easy to locate. It's right on the major route through Dalhart. The room was clean. Amenities were adequate for the rate. It's an old school motel that is a good place to stay. Parking is tight and trains run frequently throughout the night. The clerk acknowledges the trains and gives you ear plugs. So, all in all, we had a good nights stay.
We had a great stay here. The room was nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. The train is loud while we were awake but it didn't wake us during the night. Would definitely stay again if we are driving through.
Recommend. Veery comfortable beds. Even though it is near train tracks and they offer ear plugs, we didn't need them. Trains didn't wake either of us up. Did hear when we were awake and one came through. It may depend on location of room and how sensitive to sounds your are but it was no problem for us. Would stay again if through that area at time for sleep.
Check in and slept overnight and participated in an endurance event, came back and showered and then left. Convenient, clean, quick check in. The clerk gave all the runners a goodie bag (banana, water and protein bar) on our check out -- so thoughtful and kind. We felt like queens! Thank you for making our stay fabulous.
It's an older hotel, but the rooms have been up-dated and include all the amenities you could ask for : coffee pot, iron, blow-dryer, wi-fi, clock, and cable TV. Tho it's right on the main road through town, it's quiet. The best part is the staff, who are friendly and considerate. The free breakfast was a bonus
This is an older Best Western hotel, but still a very good value and offering all the amenities as the more modern Best Westerns. Clean rooms, good lighting for applying cosmetics, fast internet, fridge and microwave, comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent offering a variety of foods that even a gluten-free person could eat!
This place is always clean and fresh inside and out. The rooms are large and have a fridge and microwave. They have DirecTV which I have at home and makes finding channels easy. The people are always friendly and helpful. If you're traveling through Dalhart it is the place to stay!
Room was simple, but clean and comfortable. A good hot breakfast. Friendly staff with good dining recommendations. Wi-fi provided. Railroad nearby, but no problem. It's a bit off the beaten path of highway 54, but well worth seeking out.
We stayed one night here on the way home on a road trip. The room was nice and had really comfy beds...most hotel/motel beds hurt my back. The bathroom was a little cramped, but the shower was a nice size! We had a nice hot breakfast with Texas-shaped waffles...room was definitely worth the price!
Have stayed at the Nursanickel many times over the past 30 years. The place has changed a lot over that time, but something that has been constant and even improved is the great service we get from the staff. On our most recent visit, Denisia took the time to help us with a reservation problem that the national Best Western operators refused to address. She listened to our issue and went out of her way to take care of us.
The room was just fine. The breakfast was adequate. Although near train tracks, we had a room in the corner away from the tracks and the sound was quite muted. You have to go outside to get to the lobby and breakfast area, but the walk is short. It's a motel in the sense of pulling your car right up to the door. It's well run and clean.
I would stay here anytime I'm passing through Dalhart. The rooms, lobby and grounds were super clean, and staff was very friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant!
Nice, clean rooms that have been recently remodeled, and friendly staff. Clean and well-kept. Excellent breakfast with many food choices. Good location with easy access and ample parking. Good value for the money.
We always stay at the Best Western in Dalhart, Tx. The staff is very helpful, the hotel is a little older, but everything inside/furniture and decor is newer. The bathroom is a little cramped, space between the toilet and tub/shower. There are trains that toots several times during the night, but this can be heard at other hotels too.
The decoration of the hotel is cute, the rooms are very comfortable and the hotel is dog friendly. The service was great. It includes breakfast and it has good location. It also has a good wi-fi. Prices are affordable
This has been our regular stopping point on road trips from East Texas to Colorado. Always have had a clean room and comfortable bed. We stay overnight only. Most time we have been given a ground floor but this time we had a second floor room and without an elevator, it was a bit more of a chore to unload. It is pet friendly and the staff has always been very friendly. They have a very strange TV system using Direct TV that is not the easiest to understand. We had to call for help to get the TV receiver reset. We will use it again on our next trip to Colorado.
My wife and I like to travel. We've been to all 50 states together. We pick a part of the country and travel till we get home sick. We know when we stop at a Best Western our stay will be like home, safe and comfortable.
dalhart became our stopping point after a long day of driving. we travel with our two dogs, so finding a pet friendly place is a challenge. this best western came through. it is conveniently located on the main highway through town. the room was clean, spacious and pet friendly. a basic but complete breakfast is included with your stay. the room cost was fair. the staff was friendly and helpful.
Stayed here and we didn't have reservation but it was getting late... luckily they had a 1st floor non smoking room available...i thought for a cattle town it was pricey. Room very clean, fridge and microwave in room. They said I train goes by 2-3 times a night, gave us ear plugs but honestly never heard it... this appears to be the best place to stay in area.... would recommend if your trip brings thru Dalhart TX.
Hotel needs to be updated. The one night we were there it was noisy in the parking lot with doors banging and people yelling back and forth. Bathroom was very small. TV was not working, but hotel staff at front desk came immediately to fix it. Breakfast was OK. Very minimal amenities for what I'm used to experiencing at a Best Western.
would stay here again. very good breakfast and the staff is friendly. they offer fast checkout.. great place to say if you are passing thru. but you must enjoy the sounds of trains. close to places to eat. small town.
This motel may be the best in Dalhart, and is clean and relatively comfortable. However, it's an older building, near a very active railroad crossing, and our room still has a strong musty smell typical of older motels. The staff do a very good job, and they happily helped with a special request I had. We were placed in a pet friendly room that was about as far away from the grass behind the building as we could be, so dog walks required much more time. Breakfast was pretty good, albeit the usual for small BW inns. The AC unit was very confusing, requiring an always-on button to be pushed so that the cooling would continue all the time. Otherwise it would shut off every five minutes, then staff off for about 10 minutes, which wasn't enough to keep the room cool, despite being set to high.
This older 2 story motel is located on the main highway and right across from the rail line. Several trains went by after 10pm, blowing their horns at least till midnight. After midnight, we occasionally heard trains going by without blowing their horns. Our room was clean, but did require renovation. Noticed poor patch jobs on shower and bathroom walls and between shower wall and bathtub. Small room, but comfortable for the 2 of us.
Older place, drive up style. 2nd story has balcony. Nice room. Clean. Bathroom small but renovated. Beds comfortable. No hot water in the morning. They get an F on that one. The trains did not bother us. Well kept outside. Generally a comfortable place.
I pass threw Dalhart on my way to my sons college. I have stayed here several times. I enjoy this hotel because it is extremely clean, the staff are nice, rooms are great. I would highly recommend staying here. It is also with in walking distance to Dairy Queen, my go to place for ice cream .
We were looking for 1/2 way stop between Dallas and Crested Butte although the choices in Dalhart didn't seem to be overwhelming. Each Hotel seem to have major drawbacks but we finally decided to give the Best Western here a try. When we arrived, they did have our reservations although the first-floor rooms that we had requested were not available according to the desk clerk. After some discussion, we ended up with the rooms that we had requested initially and we're pleasantly surprised by the condition and furnishings in the rooms. As far as the room itself is concerned, I have paid a lot more for a lot less. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean which is about all you can ask for a hotel on the road these days. While the complementary earplugs are still available, we live across the street from a train track and had no trouble at all falling right asleep in our room. The only bad thing I could say about the location was that it smelled like a feedlot at certain times of the evening which is no fault of the motel. The complimentary breakfast was probably one of the best that I've had in quite a while. The food was hot and was restocked continually The staff was very pleasant and efficient. Some of the older reviews referred to deficiencies in the facilities and in the restaurant but obviously those have all been addressed and corrected. You would be hard-pressed, in my opinion common to find a better place to stay in Dalhart.
Stayed one night. Walked in to get a room. The front desk was fast and knowledgeable. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was better than I expected it would be. The rate was fair and I will stay again when traveling through dalhart.
This was a decent place. The rooms are very clean. There are some features that could use some updating/fixing, but overall it was a nice place. They provide ear plugs for the trains going by, but I had no problem with them and I am a light sleeper. The thunder from a storm was louder than the train horns. Overall a good place to stay.
Best place for the best value!! COULDN'T be more satisfied with the price! And definitely hope to be passing by here again someday! And would definitely recommend this to a friend! Quality was nice staff was helpful!
I didn't have high hopes for a motel in Dalhart but I was pleasantly surprised! The room was clean and newly refurbished. The breakfast was yummy (can't go wrong with fresh waffles). I'd stay here again!
Older property, that the owner is working every week to improve, and it shows. The pool area is great. Breakfast room small, so plan accordingly. Excellent local Tex/Mex restaurant to the east up HWY 54. Shabby inside, but your tummy and pocketbook will be happy.
We arrived late with reservations. Once we checked in we were told there were no parking spots available. The lack of parking spaces made for additional work and worry. The hotel is across the street from busy train train tracks, but we received ear plugs at check-in.
I've stayed in Dalhart before. It is a cattle town; our first stay was just okay. This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It was clean, comfortable and pleasant. I enjoyed the larger choice of breakfast items -- it was replenished often while we were there. I made a egg biscuit while my husband had the traditional waffle.
We left Estes Park, CO and we're tired from traveling all day. My wife called Best Western to see if there were any vacancies in Dalhart. She was told there were no vacancies. We got to Dalhart and stopped by the Best Western anyway. We found there were in fact 2 vacancies. We were given a great break for being a rewards member. The room was clean & cool and we parked in front of our room in a well lit an secure parking lot and experienced a very restful night. Breakfast was fairly good. The coffee, eggs, waffle, biscuits were great. The potatoes were smothered in a gosh awful tomato sauce and undercooked. Overall our experience was positive and we will continue staying at Best Western on our road trips.
This BW is an older property that has been tastefully updated. It obviously reflects pride of ownership. Our room was clean, comfortable, and looked modern. As expected for this type of motel, the room was a little smaller than the typical BW, but the modern and clean decor made it feel larger. Buffet breakfast was good. One minor complain, the in-room wifi was spotty. Also, travellers should be aware that trains do pass through town a couple of times a night and although my gf slept through it, I was awakened both times. The friendly front desk team warned me about the trains and provided ear plugs for out comfort.
I arrived late and the staff was very friendly and professional. Small town and no restaurants were open. The receptionists guided me to a local place that was great. The only negative is the intersection that this hotel is on is difficult in and out. Everything else good!
Staff unbelievable, clean, animal friendly and easy!!!!! Would stay again. Amenities great. Food service right there. Traveled from the wise coast and would definitely stay there again. Courteous calls just to make sure everything was in working order and to our desires. All worked out great and thanks again to the entire staff that made it happen.
Stopped at this hotel after a long day of traveling. Reasonable price, accommodated our vehicle and trailer. Nice clean rooms, good bed. Would stay again. Be aware of the Pizza Hut down the street not very good service at this store. Product not bad but you will have to wait awhile.
Good experience ver nice will return I think you for the review I already filled one out I don't know why I'm completing the second one out but you have a very good day the rooms were clean the people of been good to us over many years of traveling in and out of DALHART and Best Western thank you
I picked this hotel as I have had good experiences at Best Westerns in the past and the reviews were favorable. I was not disappointed. Friendly and welcoming staff. Good location. The train noise is there but it didn't impact my stay and they offer ear plugs and are open about that up front. Good breakfast options. No complaints here!
This hotel is not in the ideal location but the rooms are renovated and the beds are comfortable. Negatives: High price, Train property (you will hear it run through town), ON the highway. I did find 2 cockroaches but disposed of them quickly. Overall, decent stay for the one of the last stops before you travel to the middle of the desert/plains.
Due to the age of the hotel, I did not expect the level of upgrades. The Management has done a very good job maintaining the establishment. Room was comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely helpful. The hotel was conveniently located to the downtown area.
Excellent hotel for the cost and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. The breakfast was hot and fresh, the pastry was very good and fresh and the quantity was maintained by a watchful staff. The room was very comfortable but the bed was a little too soft.
The room was clean and they moved me to a non-smoking room upon arrival since a mistake was made in the booking. The internet worked pretty good. The breakfast was good, but no bacon. They gave you a little travel bag with snacks when you checked out in the morning. There is a real close railroad so they give out ear plugs so you won;t be disturbed by it. Very close to fast food restaurants. I liked that it had a tub in addition to the shower.
We weren't planning to stop here but bad weather kept us from the roads. They extremely helpful and although they had a tremendous amount of people trying to check in because of the weather, they did a great job making us feel welcome and safe. The rooms were average but very clean.
As snowbirds, the location was good on our way back east. We didn't really have high expectations having stayed in Santa Rosa, Amarillo, etc. But, this worked out great for us and the hotel staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. Dog friendly too.
Stayed at the hotel while traveling cross country. The staff was pleasant while we checked in. The room was clean and current. The only negative about the hotel cannot be fixed by them. Trains go through this town several times a night. Earplugs are provided and they tell you about the trains when you check in. The breakfast was very good and included eggs, 2 types of meat and waffles. Rolls and dry cereal was also available.
Upon checkin, the lady was very pleasant and accommodating. The customer service was outstanding and made for a wonderful experience. We tend to stay in other hotel chains, but may start staying in Best Western hotels more often.
Stayed here for 1 night on our way to Colorado on 3/11/17 in room 253. I have no complaints about the property itself. The staff was friendly enough and the breakfast was above average. However, I woke up the next morning and my feet and ankles were covered in bedbug bites. They itched like crazy and were in the classic 3 bite pattern (breakfast-lunch-dinner). I contacted Best Western customer service via email and they assured me that the management would contact me. It's been over a week and I have no received one phone call or email from them. I don't want a refund, but I do want them to inspect the room and the adjacent rooms so that they can be properly treated so that no other guests are bitten and the infestation doesn't spread. My family followed proper bedbug travel protocols and I'm 100% certain that they didn't follow us home.
Power outages with no communication from management. Manure smells permeate the entire town. I will never stay at this hotel again. No breakfast due to power outages, and no flashlights offered, or any other light sources for that matter. No offer of any compensation. They need to have a backup electrical generator on site for these occurances. Very disappointed.
Construction on the stairwell did not give room to walk the steps and carry luggage. Very unsafe for children. Not marked as a caution area. Not notified or mentioned at check in. We asked about how often the train went through and the check in said, "we are not given that information."
The room was just as in the picture. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was less than terrific, ran out of all hot foods. Person doing the breakfast was also running the desk. Should be 2 separate people if u want happy guests. Good for the price and hotel was packed. We would stay here again if in the area.
This is an older motel in a town with major road construction and many trains. If train noises bother you they provide ear plugs. The ice machine was kaput, so they provided ice if you requested it at the desk.
Location was good but because of road construction it was a little loud. Was warned about train when checking in but it was not that bad. Pool was closed. Lots of workers from out of town, when they come in they can be a little fast pulling into the parking lot. The workers used all the ice and we had to walk to store for our own. We were only there over night and passing thru, so ok over all.
Hotel was nice, staff was very friendly, rooms were good value, but trains were very loud when they passed the hotel. I heard one train around midnight, and one around 5:30, but not sure if others passed in the night that didn't wake me up. Breakfast was good, and location was good (other than proximity to train).
When I got to the reception I waited 5 minute only to be told there was no record of my booking. When I produced the booking conformation that I had printed off when making the booking I was told this is our fault and not to worry as there were spare rooms available. After reaching our room, unpacking and showering we decided to iron our clothes for the morning and settle down for the evening, however the steam iron didn't work so we decided to just watch the television only to find that that didn't work either. So I phone down and asked for another steam iron and someone to sort the television. A few minutes later two girls from facilities knocked on the door one with the iron the other to look at the TV. After messing with the cables and the remote for 5 minutes I was told the TV didn't work and the best they could offer was that we change rooms. We declined the offer as it was nearly 9 o'clock at night and we had settled in. The two ladies promptly left, however the receptionist re appeared 5 minutes later to tell me that to compensate for all the problems I would get a discount when I settled my bill in the morning. The following morning when settling the bill I as told because of the problems I would not be charge at all for the night's stay , further more my credit card costs would be refunded. I was then handed my receipt/invoice which had zero's cost in all the columns. However when I got home and received my card statement I had indeed been refunded my credit card costs which amounted to $8.87. BUT I had also been charged in full $ 107.34 cost of the stay. Not a place to stay and not a place to be trusted.
Nice amenities, hot breakfast & friendly staff! Very clean & updated . Fridge was appreciated. There is highway construction in front, but was not a bother to us. Nice pool & noticed a handicap mechanism for those who need.
the hotel is right across the street from a very busy train track. 2 a.m. i'd guess the horns wake up the whole town. best part of the stay was the texas tavern which is within walking distance. the only restaurant, juans burritos and grill, is in the gas station across the street. enjoy the noise
Stayed here for 1 week. The room was supposed to be a non smoking room, but it had a bad odor of smoke. Mentioned it to the front desk and she just said it was from the room below. Not possible. Used the pool a few times, was refreshing, and is a salt brine system which is nice. Provided breakfast was good in the morning, only problem if you sleep in on the weekend, they close at 9. Most are open later on the weekend. Laundry machines are provided. The rooms are clean other than the smoke smell, maybe it was just the room I had. When I checked out, the girl at the desk said she would make a note and check it out. When your in the room I guess you get used to it, but when you first go in, you can really smell it. Overall it's not really a bad place to stay for the money.
We enjoy most Best Westerns. Nursanickel is old. Nursanickel is in Dalhart. That's 2 bad strikes. The highway next to the hotel is under construction and will be for the next two years. Ingress and egress are difficult due to the construction. Plus the air is filled with road construction dirt. The train is the third strike. We were on the second floor but it still made a noticeable rumble sound in the room during the night. Then there are the flies that are ever present in the room. When the staff puts fly swatters in the room you might now you'll have a problem. We killed 9 but they kept sneaking in! The room was adequate, so was the bathroom but overall it's the pits.
This is an old (built late 1960s - early 1970s, if I had to guess), but well kept, motor court style Best Western smack in the middle of Dalhart. Expect few frills, but expect to be comfortable. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were generally spacious (although the bathroom was a bit tight). There are plenty of critical reviews of this hotel. If you're expecting luxury, you should look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to stop over on the way to somewhere else, this is a solid choice. The rooms look to have been recently remodeled and refurnished. Because you're in Dalhart, you're right next to the railroad tracks. However, the staff makes the best of this location by offering complimentary earplugs from a jar kept at the desk. Also, because you're in Dalhart (and, thus, you're in cattle country), there will be flies. To help, the housekeeping staff leaves a fly swatter in each room for your convenience. The complimentary breakfast was good and the staff pleasant. The wifi worked well. The only thing that keeps this hotel from receiving 5/5 is that there are very minor maintenance flaws that do not affect the hotel's comfort at all. I noticed paint peeling from the bathroom door jamb and baseboards that looked really banged-up. Also, the parking is a bit tight. But the things that matter: beds, towels, door locks, etc., are well cared for.
After reading the reviews, I was a little concerned about the noise from the train. I think the train would be an issue with most hotels in Dalhart. We made reservations about 9:00 pm and arrived at 10:30 pm on s Friday night. The place was busy, but quiet (other than the train). Complimentary ear plugs are available at the front desk. We stayed in room 225, with a king-size bed. The decor appeared modern and rather new. The room was simple, but clean. Breakfast began at 6:00 am, and included hot options including make your own waffles. We just grabbed coffee, fruit, and yogurt to go. Hotel prices in Dalhart were much more reasonable than Amarillo.
Originally booked a double bed room on accident. Called to change to a single king and lady on the phone was very helpful. Got there at three in the morning and staff was waiting to check us in. But the bed was covered in hair, it was absolutely disgusting. The only other room available was a double bed. The bed was cleaner. But throughout my stay I found multiple bugs in the room: a fly that wouldn't leave me alone, a bug in my drinking glass, and a spider in the bathroom. Cleanliness was almost nonexistent during my experience there.
I'll attach several photos as they tell the story better than I could. For starters, this hotel does get a few things right. I like the covered peep hole and that the table lamp and night stand lamp have all the connections you might need, including USB, for connecting a wired device or recharge a cell phone. The room was clean and furnished in a modern style; which I truly appreciated. I did think it strange that the room had it's own fly swatter (I've never seen that in a hotel before) but it came in handy when I killed three of four (one got away) houseflies buzzing around the room. The only other bug I recall seeing in the room (there were plenty outside) was a dead one inside the bathroom ceiling light. But, basically, my room was in need of some attention (i.e., peeling paint repaired, water stains sealed and painted, etc.). But, probably the most troubling was the lack of adequate secure parking for a truck with a small U-Haul trailer. I had to park near the road construction at the edge of the street in the very front of the parking lot. The turmoil created near that intersection, due to the construction and heavy traffic congestion, makes access and egress a dicey proposition. In terms of value, I think the room was priced about 10% above what it should have been for the age and condition of the room and the hotel's location. Bottom line: I probably would not stay here again if I could avoid it.
The name has intrigued me for years. Our schedule finally allowed us to stay here. The experience was very pleasant. While the facility is "old-style" (doors opening to the outside), it is very well kept.
A really great stay at this Best Western. Our room was update, clean, flat screen tv, pretty decor, fridge, microwave and plenty out plug in ports including USB. The beds, linen and pillows were comfortable and the AC was functioning well. The parking lot is currently going through some reconstruction so parking was limited. The con about this motel is their location. The train goes by the motel at night several times I.E. 12:45am and blows it whistle. The AC will not drown out the whistle. I had read reviews about the train so I made sure I took a second floor room in the back corner.
Hotel is clean. Road construction outside. Construction in the parking lot on the property. Booked reservations through AAA for a night's stay in this AAA Diamond rated hotel. Price charged was $31 higher than the price in my confirmation email. After calling the Best Western corporate office, we were refunded $10. Am not recommending this hotel in any way. Customer service is not a priority for this front desk staff.
On our way to Red River, NM we stopped off in Dalhart and decided to stay in this Best Western. Like most Best Westerns it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the manager at the desk was knowledgeable and helpful.
We were driving to California and stopped here for a night. The hotel was fine. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast and friendly staff. There is a train that runs through town all night long. They provide earplugs, ha!
The Management and staff go beyond what would be expected to make the stay a pleasant one. Renovated rooms and supreme effort of all the staff to mitigate a little train noise are very apparent and do more than make up for the sound of the trains. It is a very good value and one won't find a more pleasant, sincere, and helpful staff anywhere. All the right stuff!
Stopped at BW Nursanickle on way to Colorado. Booked through hotels.com. This is an old style 'motel' with doors opening to outside. Dalhart has major road construction that stops just short of the BW, so entrance into parking lot gave a dusty impression. There were several men drinking beer IN the pool, and all of this gave an unsettling first impression, however everyone was quiet and kept to themselves. The rooms have been updated and appeared immaculately clean. Carpet was newer, furniture appeared new and trendy, bed comfortable, plenty of hot water, and fluffy towels. Breakfast was typical complimentary breakfast and was well stocked. Only real problem is the train. Train track is right there and they blow their whistles approaching the intersection. Overnight, we had about four whistle events and the train sounds like it is in the room with you. Front desk offers ear plugs but in no way would ear plugs block the sound. Other than that this is a decent, clean, convenient place to stay.
I work weekends and when I am going home to northern Colorado, I will stop here. The rooms are comfortable, the sleep is good, the rooms meet my needs, and the breakfast is hot and fresh. I make this stop part of my travel plans.
My son said he liked trains. Good thing because we heard them all night long. It felt like we were on the train. The AC would have drowned the noise out if it would have allowed me to run the fan constantly. The room itself seemed very clean and well kept.
The hotel was clean and the breakfast was hot. The beds seemed comfortable enough. Yes, there was some train noise but we were offered ear plugs at the front desk and they were complementary. I thought that this hotel was adequate for a one night stay. I just wish the front desk employee had offered to make sure we were signed up for the $50.00 gift card offer.
Clean, comfortable room and friendly staff. Lots of road construction so it is hard to get to. It is pet friendly but there wasn't a very good place to walk our dog. They offer ear plugs because of the trains, I only heard one train around 9:00. It was not a quiet hotel, not bad but just not real quiet.
Our room was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative experience for us at this hotel was the parking. There was not an area for a truck pulling a trailer and we had to park far away from our room.
Clean comfortable room, very reasonably priced, friendly staff, good breakfast, large variety to choice from, hot foods, cereal, fruit, yogurt and danishes. We would definitely stay here again. There are trains that come through town several times a day and at night, but it wasn't a problem.
Room was small but, very clean. Tub and shower not made for anyone over 5 foot tall. Trains ran all night so, try to get a room towards the back. Breakfast was the best thing about the entire stay. Pool was not open but, it was only 36 degrees that night. People were friendly bu, not American.
We only stayed one night as a stop over while traveling to Phoenix. Only thing I would recommend is when seniors stay at the hotel you put them on the bottom floor as there is not an elevator. All rooms are outdoor entrance. Hotel was quite adequate with comfortable beds. Breakfast was great with several options.
water didn't drain out of tub. Tub & shower room so small you couldn't turn around in it. Even left a rag to clean room. What does that tell you. Front desk lied when said rooms were updated. Vanities old crappy. I can't believe Best Western puts their name on a place like this.
The room was clean but the king room did not have comfortable seating in it. We had to sit on the bed to watch TV. We always book rooms with king beds because there is usually at least one chair or a love seat. The hotel is very close to train tracks but fortunately, a train did not come through while we were sleeping.
No surprises here except 2 things. The rooms are better quality than you'd expect with a best western or a motel at all. It's more like a holiday inn. The breakfast is big for continental. Great to have that in the morning. Dog friendly for only 10$ per dog.
My family of four stayed at this hotel. It was near a major railroad crossing but when we checked in they offered ear plugs....we didn't use nor did we really hear the trains. It was nice that they gave us the heads up.
This is our second stay at this property. We are always tired when we get here and generally just sleep and get up and journey on. The thing most people know about Dalhart is the trains are noisy. This can't be helped. We arrived at 2:00 AM in the morning to find a very pleasant front desk person who got us the last room here and the last non-smoking room in Dalhart. The room was really, really nice, recently updated, fresh smelling and most of all quiet. Breakfast was crowded but good and everybody seemed to be enjoying their stay as much as we did. They keep the breakfast open longer when it is crowded as it was this night. I recommend this place with the strange name.
Second stay at this motel. For this price range, the cleanliness of the rooms and friendliness of the staff is top notch. Kind of close to the train and some noise from that, but not too bad. They provide earplugs if you wish.
Great beds. We just needed a place to sleep for the night and made our choice without looking at reviews but we were pleasantly surprised with our experience. Alex was working the front desk and was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and fresh. We did not use the TV, we used the wi-fi and went to bed. The bed was more comfortable than my bed at home and I slept straight through 7 hours. They told me that the train goes by close to the motel but I did not hear it. Ask for a room away from the road. They offer to supply those common things that you may have forgotten and the free breakfast is good. It includes Texas shaped waffles and good, not great, biscuits and gravy. (Holiday Inn Express biscuits and gravy is not good)
Let's just say I was stuck in a difficult place. I was stranded without a mode of transportation in Dalhart. I had some issues with my vehicle, and every staff member made sure I found my way back home. Barry / Sloane / Uvidalia, thanks for the help !!!
The hotel is very noisy being located at the intersection of two major highways (major for Dalhart) and next to the train tracks. Loud noises all night long! When we checked into the room we found leftover food in the refrigerator...yuck! I would try to avoid Dalhart as other hotels are not much better.
A good place to stay. Convenient to things in the area. If passing through, a good place to stay the night. I was only there about 9 hours, but I have no complaints and had a good breakfast also. I slept well, the room was quiet, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If I have the need and opportunity, I will stay here again.
I travel quite a bit for work and have also been in the hospitality industry for the past 15 years. The BWN in Dalhart is newly remodeled, clean, and pet friendly. Every time I stay in a hotel of this caliber there are generally a few set backs. I must say as a service/hospitality industry professional that Barry Sukha (the GM) went above and beyond my expectations in every way possible. I had a minor issue with my room as well as some excessive noise coming from a another room. He genuinely cared about my stay and addressed the situations with class and respect for all the guests involved. I know this because I was in the lobby while he called and addressed the noise complaint. He was just equally accommodating to the person that I complained about as he was to me as well as every other guest I saw him interact with. This industry needs more people like him. Thank you for all your hospitality Barry! Because of you, this will be the only place I stay if ever in the Dalhart area again. Thanks again for the hospitality and I wish you many more years of success and good fortune. Josh L, Dallas, TX
Pulling up to Dalhart, we knew this small town wasn't going to have many lodging options. However, once inside we were all very pleased with the Best Western! The cheaper of the motels in town, this definitely didn't feel like it. The rooms were nice, breakfast had something for everyone, the the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Fair warning, you are RIGHT on the train tracks, so take advantage of the offer for earplugs.
We were passing through Dalhart and if you have been there you know there are not many good options. Our stay last night at the Best Western Nursanickel exceeded expectations. For a hotel on a major highway AND rail system our room was very quiet. The staff was very helpful. The room was very clean and the wifi strong. Good bed. Best value and rate we found. Would stay there next time passing through.
This is a very nice and comfortable motel in Dalhart, one of the most convenient places to spend the night if traveling between Texas and Colorado. The rooms and amenities are nice, they take our dog (an important member of the family) and have a nice, grassy pet area that was not there in earlier years, and our only concern was that prices are a little higher than other motels in town. Rooms do have high-speed internet, mini-fridges and microwaves, and hair dryers, which are frequently absent in other motels.
The room was nice and the bed was comfy, however the pillows (though there were many) were like rocks. Both of us woke up with neck pain. Will have to remember to pack our own if we ever want to stay here again. The breakfast looked wonderful, but the hot food was cold and we were about first in line. Very disappointing.
My can't and dog stayed here in our way to Colorado. We were so impressed with how fancy and clean it was. Everything was updated and the free breakfast was great. Too bad we had to walk through the 'historical blizzard' to take the dog out! My husband want to start staying here instead of la quinta or motel 6. I wonder if they are all this nice...Or is it the management?
Friendly, helpful staff. They demonstrate their appreciation for the business. Manager and staff were very helpful gathering road condition information for us. Over the years we have found their efforts to be very consistent
Room was very warm. Newly updated with Carpet and linens.. Clean restrooms and lots of towels Quiet room great place to stay .. Bed was a little short but comfy with 6 pillows..Free breakfast with all the fixings and great orange juice.. Office was quick to check in and out friendly service
Excellent service, great staff, very friendly and accommodating. Front desk person very helpful in locating restaurants. Room was large and very clean. Location was excellent. Recommend to anyone to stay at this location.
TheTrain . well that is exactly what it is. And it runs around the whole town. So its up to you 165 dollars to 60 dollars it will either be on your left, right , in front or behind you. It work me up one time in 3 days. The room was great the shower was great the staff was very friendly . if my works brings me back I will stay here again. The Steak House 10x or X10 WHICHEVER IS VERY GOOD .
The BW Nursanickel is an older BW motel, but they have kept it up nicely and in all honesty, it's a little bit of an oasis in Dalhart which primarily revolves around large cattle operations, trucking traffic on the main roads through town and numerous trains rolling through town. Dalhart smells like cattle, some days worse than others and you just have to adjust when outside. Of importance though is the fact that the BW has tight window and door seals and zilch cow aroma inside the room, big plus! Our room was away from the train whistles so barely a hint of noise, we noted they did offer ear plugs for guests on request. Our room had a very comfy bed, was nicely decorated, good wifi. The heater in the room struggled a bit at first, but by the time we came back from dinner, all was nice and toasty. Staff was friendly and efficient. Property was clean. This BW is located at a very busy intersection, turning into the parking lot from the north can be a bit challenging due to truck traffic. We would definitely stay here again.
I thought it was a bad sign when I saw the "earplugs available on request" sign. Then I found a complimentary set in the hotel as well. Yep, trains and trucks all night. The towel left to clean with was another signal of the problems here. Several bugs in the room as well. I could not get out fast enough the next morning.
I was so glad there was a BW in Dalhart. I was tired from traveling for several days and nights. I didn't want to drive any more or stay at a different motel. Prices are always high, but it was reasonable. I didn't care for the foam pillows, but I was so tired it didn't matter. Management always needs to be aware of mold in the bathroom around the tubs.
The first room we were given had a backed up toilet with water and wet towels on the floor. Overall cleanliness was bad. Second room was better but not great, and the train about knocked you out of bed after it woke you up four or five times through the night.
This hotel is next to train tracks with constant traffic, blowing horns all night. They make you sign a disclaimer after they check you in so they can keep your money after you cannot sleep at night. They force cancer patients on oxygen to climb stairs, even when they have first floor rooms available.
Trains all night long. When I asked the girl behind the desk when trains came through she just shrugged her shoulders. Breakfast was what you would expect, nothing special. When I checked in they wanted to make a copy of my drivers license. Could somebody please explain to me why this is necessary. Everyone has security cameras these days. In this age of identify theft this is not a very good practice. I can understand if all you want to do is verify identity but you don't need to make a copy.
A decent hotel but nothing special. Next time I'm driving thru the panhandle, I'll stay in Dumas instead. The room was pretty tired and there was train noise almost all night long. The hotel had a pool that I didn't take advantage of, but the free breakfast was mostly adequate.
We stayed here on the way through. Stayed one night. Room was clean. No coffee in room I had to ask for. I love hearing trains in the distance but these were close enough to wake us up. I am an heavy sleeper . Lots of people hanging around outside. I would not stay here again.
Don't know what all the hoopla was about concerning the train. We stayed here on our way home from Colorado and were not bothered by the train whistle. In fact, heard it only once. Nice clean room, good air conditioner. Would stay here again. Nice remodel--granite counter tops and shower walls.
