« Excellent location but the hotel is in need of an upgrade. »

This hotel is located within walking distance of La Gare de Compiègne and is well placed for sightseeing in the area. It offered a good view of the river Aisne from our room that was right up on the top floor. It was spacious, although the table and chairs were a bit weird in style. The fuse box in our bedroom was exposed and the wi-fi almost non-existant. The kettle lid mentioned in September as being broken is still not fixed. The hallways with red wallpaper and no windows are horrible and slightly scary as the timer switches can switch off unexpectedly. In the pleasant restaurant breakfast was an expensive €12 if all that was wanted was a croissant and coffee and the only hot food were boiled eggs (soft or hard). It should not be classed as 4 star.

    « Needs an update »

I've stayed here before. Bathroom smelled of mildew. Shower stall was minuscule. Wi-fi ranged from pitiful to non-existent. No iron or ironing board. No wash cloths. No hangers in the closet. Creepiest were the red hallways with NO WINDOWS! That, coupled with the overhead hallway lights that are on a timer and switch off when you least expect it, is unnerving to say the least. If you've seen "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson, you'll understand the vibe this place gives off. Staff was friendly enough. Breakfast was fine, but a bit sparse for this American. Smokers near the doorways meant we always had a nice smoky backdraft into the property. Probably would not stay here again, given the choice.

    « A Best Western, need I say more? »

I mean that is the most positive way. We have great luck with Bfs in France, and this one fit the mold. Comfortable, convenient, with secure parking available. My one complaint is that I initially felt I was dealt with less than honestly. We stopped without reservation, which we always do except in cities. My wife asked about availability, and was told there was absolutely only one room left, and it was their most expensive (around 250€). When we went up to the room it was clear that it wouldn't do for someone with some handicaps, so we returned to the desk. Rather than turn has around, they seemed to find another room at a lower price (116 €). I asked about this at checkout and was told they had to swap some rooms around to do this for us. I think they tried to sell us up, but they at least had a good story. Would I stay here again? Yes I would, but I just might call ahead.

    « Unimpressive hotel »

We stayed here as part of a group tour through WWI&II sites. This was our second hotel, and we found it disappointing. The only bright side is some of the rooms were bigger than your standard European hotel rooms, however, you have to request the suite. There is no workout room which was disappointing. Additionally, all the lights in the hallway and staircases are censored, so upon entering you're completely in the dark. We found several of the censors didn't work which gave us a creepy feeling. The beds were not comfortable at all. Glad we only stayed here a few nights as a week in this hotel would have been rough.

« very cute hotel in compeigne nearby downtown »

We spend there two nights at this best western in Compiegne and enjoyed the room as well as its location, nearby downtown and restaurants. They also have their own parking behind the building. Nice breakfast with a lot of breads and jelly and pain au chocolat. For the price you pay it is a real bargain, Nice little town with a lot of charm.

« Fair price, bit tired, great breakfast »

We stayed her for one night in room 309 which was huge! 2 bedrooms plus a lounge with sofa and two chairs and 3 TV's - this was much more than we expected for the three of us! A warm welcome and safe underground parking €10pd and then a good buffet breakfast (free for our under 12 yr old) with the best pain au raisin I have had for some time. The whole shebang came to €194 - now ok it was hot (no aircon) and ok it was tired and yes it had the worlds most complex and worst free wifi - but as a pit stop over night.....for the space we brainier for value

« Great location and comfortable rooms »

We arrived to a very friendly, helpful lady on reception and were given directions to the underground car park which was actually a reasonable size. Our room was right up on the top floor of the hotel and was very spacious, although the table and chairs were a bit weird in style. The hotel is currently undergoing a major renovation and the bathroom in our room had been recently completely refitted. Such a shame that when they fitted the shower rail they forgot to put the fitting to fix the shower head to. It was great that we had tea and coffee making facilities, but a shame that the lid of the kettle was broken. All in all, it probably needs a little more attention to detail to bring it up to scratch, but we had a very large and extremely comfortable bed with uncomfortable pillows. It was just a quick night stop for us on our way home to the SW of France and considering it was August it was very quiet and peaceful.

« Good solid transit hotel »

The hotel is located on a main road next to the river. It has its own car park which is accessed from a side street. Check in was quick and painless, our room accessed via a relatively small lift. Our room for the 3 of us was huge. Tidy, clean and appointed as you would expect in this class of hotel. Didn't find a safe, small fridge with som water and beers. Staff friendly with reasonable grasp of English and helpful. We didn't take breakfast. The town of Compiegne is a little gem, plenty of bars, small restaurants, the main square about a 10 minute (slow) walk. What makes the town an interesting stop off is the role it has played in French history. At the museum of 'Clairiere de l'Armistice located in a forest a few km outside the city stands on the site where is was originally used a detailed replica of the railway carriage in which the Armistice to end the First World War was signed. Wrapped around which are some exhibits to the First World War including a good collection of pictures. Entrance fee very modest. Probably worth a visit of max 1 hour if you look through the exhibits diligently and take a bit of time in the grounds. In town but a short drive is th Memorial de l'internement et de la deportation. This tells the story of 48,000 people sent to the town, held and then sent onto the Nazi Death Camps, again not expensive, audio guides in several languages. Very sobering to hear the stories of people. At the main railway station you can see two of the carriages used to transport people. Oh by the way there is the Imperial Palace...closed by the time we got to town but very impressive looking.

    « What a sad unloved hotel »

Should not be classed as 4 star. No one on reception desk when we arrived, or at anytime during our stay. Peeling wall paper, stained and scruffy bathroom. Only an over bath shower which sprays all over the floor. Exposed fuse box in our bedroom. I think for the price you should be able to expect much more. Really can't recommend it to anyone.

« Friendly and Helpful Staff »

We had a family room which was large, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location for exploring the city. We especially appreciated the help that the staff provided in giving us information about Joan of Arc. We chose to visit Campiègne because of its connection to Joan, and we were able to visit more sites than just the statues of Joan with the information we were provided. We enjoyed our stay at Les Beaux Arts.

    « Worth a visit... »

Just back from three nights at this hotel as part of the Somme commemorations. Great hospitality, friendly atmospheric reception and great croissants! A thank you for facilitating drinks, taxis and pizza! We will be back.

    « Good hotel »

Comfortable and clean hotel, friendly, helpful staff. Front bedrooms overlook the canal but traffic slightly noisy with windows open. Mini bar and kettle provided. Restaurant next door, food good, service great.

    « Great experience »

Very pleasant welcome at reception and given a very large room on the fifth floor (502). The room was well equipped - tea/coffee making, fast free wi-fi and a safe (key available from reception). Car parking is available for a charge underground - may be a bit tight for large vehicles. Didn't have breakfast as were prefer to go out to a local cafe. Will certainly return to Compiegne and stay at Les Beaux Arts

    « Ok - nothing special »

Room was big (family rooms the 'only rooms left' online but there seemed to be few people there). Not pretending to be anything they're not but a lack of anything other than a room and an early closed reception bar made it a little underwhelming for the price. Rooms were big and comfy if a little dated

« Not Really in the Center of Town - but I'll be Back. Nice. »

You walk out of the Compiegne Gare, look straight ahead over the Oise River and there it is - exactly as Google Satalite showed me. So you stroll over the bridge and turn to your left, walk down to the very red restaurant - and the Hotel is next door. The Reception is pleasant and the staff helpful, and they do have English on the TV. Turn left out of the front door, walk to the next corner, again left turn - and 3 blocks straight head of you is the very attractive town center with, of course the Hotel de ville and the statue of Joan of Arc, who was captured here. At Compiegne you of course must visit the famous Chateau. But if you take a taxi - expect to be 'ripped off'. Well at least - I Was. Brian, from Perth. Western Australia.

    « Nothing Special! »

I have stayed here a few times whilst researching a cycle ride, and in May this year I took a group of 14 cyclists. We stayed here for one night en route to Amiens. Each time I have stayed I have come away feeling slightly disappointed but I returned because of the convenience of the location and rooming configuration although it is noisy at night. The hotel is overlooking the river and a very short walk to the main square. Compiegne is a lovely town. The bedrooms are dreary, but typically French, and the breakfast disappointing in a very small dining room. There is a small underground car park which also accommodates bikes (for a charge)

« Excellent design of family room, better on inside than outside »

Family room layout was great. Had a separate bedroom with a door from main lounge area and second bed area - I wish all hotels had this. Décor in rooms and reception good. Communal areas tired. They seemed to have an issue with debit cards, be warned. Friendly staff but English language skills patchy, leading us to miss out on breakfast as we were told there was none (when there is). Underground car park for 10 euro per night. Good location. No air con but you could request fans. Bathroom a little tired and stained.

« Great Hotel in great location »

Stayed over for one night on way home from south of France, will definitely be returning. Good sized room with comfortable bed. Good secure onsite parking. Efficient friendly and very helpful staff. Great value.

    « One night stand »

We stopped over night on our tour from south to north and yes, it's okay for one night. Average hotel, max. 3 stars, but friendly stuff, large rooms, good parking, good location, a better one for French hotels (most of them I have been were very poor)

    « Excellent location »

Stayed here for one night on our start of a short tour of France. Good paid for parking across the road. Our room was on the top floor and very spacious, could have done with better lighting in the hallways that actually worked rather than trying to find a light switch.

    « Pleasantly surprised »

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The service was friendly and helpful right from the start. The rooms were spacious and well set out. The location is right on the river and within walking distance of numerous local shops and restaurants. All in all it was a very comfortable stay from all aspects.

    « Nice hotel »

Nice location downtown. Easy to get from the main road into town and the train station. Nothing special but clean with a nice staff. The rooms are a little old fashioned, but cool in that sense. Staff was really nice and breakfast was good as well.

« Central location, handy for the Chateaux »

We've stayed here a number of times and whilst I don't think it's a 4 star hotel, it's a good stopover. Staff are pleasant and although the rooms are little bit tired, they are clean and comfortable. Free if rather slow WiFi (faster option for a fee!) Secure parking underneath the hotel accessible directly to reception and some of the rooms. The restaurant next door has a decent selection, but do book if staying over a weekend. Word of warning if booking via the Best Western site, the default is for one person unlike most sites where they assume two persons per room.

    « Marginal hotel »

This hotel is nicely situated on the river, but needs urgent overhaul. Our first room had a moving toilet seat, in the alternative suite the electric outlets did not work. But the staff was very helpful.
