Rooms are a little out dated but very clean. Pool was exceptionally clean and water was warm. Usually the pool is always super cold. Guest reception was very helpful. Unfortunately the hotel is located behind an older closed down building. It is very dark when you first pull off the highway and turn on the hotel road.
Spring mattress. Thin towels. Carpet smells of dust and old. Room could use a update. For the most part it appeared clean. Hall smells for a overdose of some fragrance plugged into outlet. Not really worth the price.
Modern, clean facility. Free breakfast was good and a welcome change! (Who puts out toppings for scrambled eggs?! So good...) Staff and management were friendly and care about the service they provide. Over the top from Kristina, Sai, and Charan (sorry about the spelling, you guys were the BEST!) Busy wedding weekend, but we were treated like we were their only guests. Very kind, very nice, very accommodating. They even suggested parking our motorcycles on the patio right by the front door. Very safe. These people care.
This hotel was great and I recommend it. It was clean and quiet. The room and bed were very comfortable. It was quiet. Everything worked. The staff was both friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. I left Chicago mid-afternoon heading west and this was the perfect location.
This place looks like it was newly remodeled and looks very nice. Breakfast was really good, but wish the nearby restaurant was reopened or open longer hours. When traveling we like eating at a local restaurant. Subway is nice, but they are not a local restaurant.
I've seen reviews saying this hotel wasn't clean. My room was clean all the areas I visited were very clean. There is on site video gaming machines and we won't $72 on a $20 start. Breakfast was usual but good. I hear most days they have a cook that goes the extra mile.
We stayed one night while in the area. The staff seemed caring when they came, but I did wait for almost ten minutes till someone finally came to the front desk to check me in. The room was very nice, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. We would definite stay here again if we had opportunity.
We're Premium members and stay almost exclusively at BWs on our frequent road-trips. The Annawan BW is the absolute worst we've been in. The staff was rude and sarcastic, the sheets were stained (dirty?), and the hotel is full of ants. My wife was bit in bed last night and her purse ended up with a nest of ants, presumably going after her cough drops. The pool was s marked as closed except the receptionist and his family were obviously enjoying it that evening. The towels were worn out and the shower curtain was molded. We're still BW fans but this place was far from what we expect from the chain
The staff here really went above and beyond. So kind. The rooms are nice and the hotel doesn't have that really bad musty smell that I've smelled in so many hotels. There's gas stations and subway right across the street. Fridge and tv, spacious bathrooms. It's been a really pleasant stay and I'm grateful their hospitality!
At check in things went well the room was clean and nice but come checkout the guy working told me my card had declined and I still had an outstanding balance. I then proceeded to payhim with cash not thinking about checking my card first... (My fault) little while latter while eating breakfast I checked my card and realized it did go through I went back and he refunded it but the next day he charged my card again and again 2days latter!!! I called as I live out of state and he kept telling me I was lying and there was nothing that could be done about it! I am extremely irritated and p*ssed about this and am now still currently fighting with my card company to get a refund back...
This was my first stay at a hotel in awhile. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. I arrived early and was able to check-in early. The hot breakfast was good, with a couple of choices. I definitely would stay here again!
Well run hotel. It is clean and attractive. Comfortable modern rooms. Very nice lady at front desk and facilities were very clean and kept up well. Breakfast was good and took thought to come up with a good selection of prepackaged items during Covid restrictions.
The facility was well maintained, but a sense of malaise hung over the place mostly due to demeanor of the staff. They were proficient, helpful, but not enthused about being there, seem to give off vibe of concern or worry, depressive. The facility rooms were well appointed and cared for the room was definitely ready for use and operational. The room was preheated to warm temp unlike most places. The outdoor temps were below zero and it was very nice to be warm and comfy upon arrival. The facility was clean and well appointed for visitors. The number of guests appeared to be low, and due to governed t restrictions the offerings for food were extremely limited, more so than a Holiday Inn Express we stay at prior in Indiana, could be the different state requirements played I to that.
We were headed west on I80 and needed to stop for the night. Due to the recent storms in the areas rooms in surrounding areas were book or had no power. We traveled down the road a little further and found this hotel. The gentleman at the desk was super nice and very helpful (gave us some water & granola bars when we checked in). The room was clean and quiet. I would definitely use this hotel again. If traveling during the COVID crisis -- they were very well prepared, hand sanitizers at desk and door, rooms sanitized, plastic at front desk. Thank you!
Every hotel we tried was booked solid because of a storm and widespread power outages. Exhausted, our last attempt was answered by the kindest gentleman. Because it was so late, he held his last room for us, basically on a hand shake. He promised it would be available on our arrival. I gave him my name, and that was it. We arrived, and he apologized he did not have more rooms available to choose from because they were reserved for the emergency electrical crews. We got the key and he gave us snacks and water so we wouldn't go to bed hungry. Minutes later the electrical crews showed up and he greeted them outside the door to assist them quickly. He was just as kind and generous the next morning.
This was a quick stop on our way back home after a trip west. We only needed a place to stay for the night and the Annawan Inn was perfect. Right off the interstate and there was even a Subway across the street so we were able to get a quick bite. Breakfast at the hotel was good, and really enjoyed the hot waffles with my scrambled eggs.
We had a great stay the staff went out of there way to make us feel at home. The rooms were very clean and had many choices for breakfast including eggs bacon and sausage. The pool was clean and warm we enjoyed swimming.
I enjoyed the excellent service at this hotel. It's in a small town with very few choices for meals, however, I was directed to a pizza place that had OUTSTANDING pizza. The room temperature control was a mystery......it had the usual under-window unit to the outside however it never came on and yet the room stayed about 72 degrees. I could not find the source of the cooled air but it was great not having the cycling of the a/c turning on and off during the night.
Nice clean hotel, very friendly staff, good indoor games for kids, very good breakfast with lots of options, Indoor pool was good, location is right off Interstate and we had a RV but they have a huge parking so no problem with the parking space
I won't go into great detail just to say we would happily stay here again. On the outskirts of a small town. Easy to get to and back on the road to Chicago in less than five minutes. We both have mobility issues and getting out of the bath wasn't easy without a handrail. But that was the only downside.
I'll get the positives out of the way: Very average hotel that was clean. Hot breakfast was average. Onto why I feel ripped off. I originally booked for two nights. On the day of check in, my agenda for the week changed and decided that I only needed to be in Annawan one night. At check in, I mentioned this to the clerk who said canceling night two would be "no problem". However, I booked through Expedia and would need to consult them. Long story short, the hotel charged me a $35 cancellation fee for the second night. IF the hotel were full and rooms in demand, I would completely understand this. However, the facility was operating at about 5% occupancy (it was a Monday & Tuesday night). The cancellation fee was uncalled for and won't be stopping there again.
Employees go above and beyond to make your stay the best they can. Room was quiet, place was clean and the breakfast had something for everyone. Location was perfect and plenty of parking. Nice place for any type of venue
What a hidden gem this is! We stopped in Annawan (population 900) because it was out of the Quad City area and we did not want to drive after dark, and are we glad we did! This place is amazing! Our room was very large, comfortable and very clean. Bed was a little hard, but we slept good, a very quiet place. Breakfast was good and the eggs were organic! Overall if you are traveling across Illinois on I-80 you will be hard pressed to find a nicer place. This is our 23rd day on the road and this is one of the nicest places we have stayed. HIGHLY recommended.
Fantastic stay. 3 nights and 3 great breakfasts. Room was large, quite and clean. Had satellite TV. I couldn't figure out how to go to a specific channel. However, the large flatscreen was HD and you don't watch TV that much. Maddy was the go to man. He was in charge of everything. Check-in, breakfast, check-out and all in between.
The hotel, room and grounds were immaculate. The staff was excellent. The breakfast buffet had numerous choices, was of high quality and all very nicely prepared. The location is conventient, right off the exit ramp for I-80. Just an aside, if you are using Google Maps to navigate, it tells you to use the eastbound exit ramp to enter the hotel grounds. Google Maps is wrong, its right off Canal street.
It was a very clean hotel with friendly staff. Not over crowded and located close to highway ramp. You must pay attention to entering the facilities because it isn't clear in the dark. Gas station located beside entrance. Town doesn't have many places to eat but hotel is great for in-route rest
Got there kind of late and they had a room,so we took it not expecting too much. We were wrong, very nice people and very clean and comfortably. The price was reasonable and a nice breakfast too. Would stay here again, very nice!
Located immediately off I-80, this property was convenient for an overnight rest stop. Was not impressed with breakfast as most main items were pre-packaged and unhealthy; pool was closed and the fitness room needed updating.
My mother and I were in town visiting family. We arrived a little before check in time but had no problem checking in early. The staff were friendly and awesome. Apparently there was a big wedding party booked this weekend as well, so I was worried it would get a bit noisy, but I didn't hear one peep. We were also on the side of the hotel by the interstate and couldn't hear any noise from that either. The room was clean and looked very nice. Bathrooms were clean as well. We didn't have time to visit the pool, but it looked great too. We had a great stay and will definitely stay here again in the future.
Just passing through on I80 and saw the reliable Best Western sign. After 500 miles on 2 wheels I was ready for a break, and boy did I get it....Very clean, and the front desk clerk must have seen I was beat, and sunburned, and gave me a bottle of water. The room was superb and breakfast the next morning before I rolled out was great. Not much around the area, but this place is a gem..! Thanks...
The hotel was exceptionally clean and well-cared for. The breakfast choices were especially good--they even had almond milk and coconut milk. They had some pet-friendly rooms. It is right off I-80--perfect for anyone passing through. The manager was the nicest guy in the world.
We stayed a night for our friends' wedding. The room and the bathroom were clean, but bathroom wasn't equipped with basic toiletries and hot water was inconsistent. Breakfast was disappointing. There weren't many options and the ingredients weren't fresh. At the night of the wedding, they charged alcohol for various prices and charged water and soda even though it was already paid for. They also attempted to double book rooms to a different wedding party in order to charge more which led to my friends having to fight for the rooms the reserved a year prior. In addition to this they attempted to steal the leftover wedding cake by lying that it was thrown out. The owners of this hotel are out to make money and will do it in any way they can. Stay away from this hotel.
Disappointing. Be careful when booking rooms for large groups. Management wasn't eager to give guest the contracted discount. I had to call in for them...on more than one occasion. Again, management was okay during the event until questioned about some "misunderstandings" the next day. He blamed other guests instead of taking responsibility. It took 2 face-to-face meetings after weekend to resolve the "misunderstandings". Stay on top of them or go somewhere else if you don't want the hassle...
front desk gentleman was below average in welcoming had to ring bell to get him but more than made it up with upgrade pool was okay town is very small depressed. overall i would go again faust for upgrade
The overall experience was great! We stayed there for three nights for family reunion,we arrived too early but Maddy- The Manager of the Hotel was very welcoming,he made sure that we got our room few hrs before the check in time,it was nice of him.Its a nice hotel in a small town, very calm & serene. There is a nice restaurant in town, went there for dinner,Hotel was nice and clean with good breakfast & faster internet, the housekeeping made sure to make our room nice and tidy everyday. I have no complaints at all and look forward to doing this all over again one day in the near future.
Older hotel in need of many repairs. Lukewarm showers at best, running water in toilets all night long, burnt out/flickering lightbulbs. The "full hot breakfast" listed on our reservations did not happen. Toast and rubberized jelly. Want something hot? cook your own waffle. No eggs, no bacon, no sausage. Overcharges on bills, although the staff did correct when brought to their attention. Keep on moving down the road for a better hotel.
I stayed here for two nights, location is very convenient as it's right off Interstate, friendly staff, clean & spacious room, nice & comfortable beds, faster wifi & good breakfast, Will definitely stay again & highly recommend
Best western annawan is one of my favorite hotels to stay at they treat you like family most of the time I check in late at night so I would normally miss the breakfast but they always make sure to leave it out for me and make sure I don't leave hungry
Desk clerks very helpful and accommodating. Room nice - mattresses maybe a bit used - could feel springs. But all else was in good shape. Breakfast not as elaborate as other BW. But enough to last to lunch! Lower price than others, so it all evens out. Very rural area - state park to visit, and a restaurant, and a great ice cream place nearby. Open area, relaxing. All things considered, I'd definitely stay here again.
This hotel is awesome because of the location and convenience . Additionally, the staff treated me with the upmost hospitality and I felt warmly welcomed. The environment was extremely peaceful and relaxing to say the least. Thank you for your outstanding service during my stay. I plan on recommending this hotel to all my family, friends and colleagues.
Good location near the Interstate - easy off/on. Maddy at the front desk bent over backwards to make our stay pleasurable. Rooms have fridge/micrwave/HDTV. Breakfast is on the skimpy side; however, there are a few hot items. Spacious parking lot is dimly lit. Rooms could use a touch-up.
We stay here every six months. Very caring staff. Great heated pool They always take good care of my family when I am training. Always a great place to stay. They are always very helpful when we need anything.
The rooms were nice, clean and quiet. Pillows were comfortable! But the pool area is dated. The breakfast was not as good as some recent hotels we stayed in but we were here on a Monday so perhaps that made a difference.
We needed a hotel close to family & this location seemed to be the best choice. However it would have been nice to know prior to reserving the room that their pool was out of order. Paper thin walls & vending machines that only took coins made this a not so enjoyable overnight stay. Not too sure we will stay again even though it's very close to our family....I would honestly drive farther than stay here again.
Hotel staff that cares clean rooms and real breakfast plenty of parking big enough for what ever you drive huge pool and super comfortable pilliows over all of your looking for a place to stay or host an event this is where I go and I love my stays every time.
not given reserved room, given a room that was not cleaned, extremely poor and un-attractive breakfast which we turned down, no staff present, burned-out lights in parking lot, grass not mowed, shrubs not trimmed, one of out-side signs not lit, .....an very poor place to stay!
I found the attitude of staff and their logic to be confusing annd demeaning. Staff ignored female guest in front of them to assist male guest behind them. They charge more for a standard room then a king. Attitude toward me( I am a female senior citizen traveling alone) very demeaning. I will never return.
It's pretty rare that we are a walk-up for a hotel, but managed to do that after midnight on a trip. We had planned on camping, but the weather and other factors were not conducive, so we stopped by the Best Western and got a room for the night. It's a relatively old Best Western, but in reasonable shape. I was pretty grungy when I got there and wanted to take a shower, but the water was only lukewarm. It was hot the next morning, though. The room was clean, but clearly a bit dated. The best part was the breakfast. They had the waffle makers and lots of other options including frozen breakfast sandwiches. They must have a lot of difficulty with smokers. It was pointed out that there is a $250 charge for smoking in the room and they make you initial that you agree to that. As part of the vast majority of people who have never smoked, I found the multiple reminders of this a bit annoying.
We have stayed at this hotel twice as we have been travelling. It's clean with a very basic breakfast. If you are wanting a place to "crash" for the night and then get up and get going on the road again, this is a good value for that. Both times got in late and left early.
We stayed at this best Western previously and it was nice - this time it looked run down and the pool was out of order - We used the laundry facilities - and they were loud and the soap dispenser was not working.
Reserved this hotel on the BW website; site description and pictures seemed fine, pet-friendly and indoor pool. On arrival, no bell to summon the attendant, had to yell for someone who was uncaring at best. Air conditioning wasn't able to be adjusted and room was not cold enough to beat the heat and humidity outside; mattresses were uncomfortable. Breakfast was not hot and skimpy. The pool was under renovation, one of the main reasons we booked here and no sign was posted at the front counter at check-in. Avoid this place unless you're desperate.
staff only provides negative info when asked -- we were nver told the pool doesnt work and others checking in later were also carefully NOT told that the pool was inoperable. yogurt is brought out on or two cups at a time, same for coffee lids. overall, the management is less than truthful and very cheap.
i havent stayed in bestwestern before, this is the first time i have stayed and i liked their service, the desk attendant offered us water and protein bar and explained abt their promotion abt getting a $50.oo gift card, enrolled in the program. Very nice hotel and very friendly staff
The Hotel is right off Interstate 80.Nice friendly staff, good breakfast and nice big rooms in a very calm & quiet area,we enjoyed our stay here, will highly recommend and will be back for our next trip :)
This is nice looking hotel, and appears to be well kept in most public areas. However, the rooms are another matter. The bedding consists of a sheet, an extremely thin blanket, another sheet and then a thin counter pane. Not sure if there was fresh bedding, or just pulled up and tucked in. The last time I slept on a mattress as poor as the one in this room, was in a run down Super 8 motel in a small town where we had no choice during a violent winter storm. The mattress moaned and groaned every time my wife or I moved. Very very, very bad!!! Most of the rubber backing was pealed off the blackout curtains. When are these people going to learn that they must do some maintenance on a hotel, not just take in the money and do the superficial things? We try to stay at either Best Western or HIE when we travel. I must say that we are having more poor experiences than good with Best Western. I would NEVER stay here again.
This hotel is very surprisingly clean and comfortable! Rooms are pretty spacious and furnitures are in pretty good condition. TV is in nice and good shape! Considering the fact that it is in middle of nowhere the hotel is in really good shape and very well maintained. Staff is really friendly. Really welcoming and greeted us with a complementary bottle of water. Overall really good experience!
This hotel is undergoing a much needed renovation, the pool is out of service and some of the parking lot lights are only working part of the time. We stay at a lot of the Best Western hotels throughout the country and this one would rate down towards the lower end of satisfaction.
Staff was very helpful and the hotel was well maintained. Received complimentary water and granola bars on check-in. The room was clean and very roomy. Will definitely stay here again on my next visit.
We four women rode our bicycles across Illinois and were happy to locate a great hotel in a small town along our route. This was the cleanest and best equiped one we stayed at. What a luxury for us. Others may be disappointed that the new pool is not yet complete (approx. January 2017) Our rooms were great, very clean and inviting. The lobby and breakfast room were terrific-- almost like a den. We played cards there into the night (9PM anyway). The desk clerk was very friendly and offered us fruit and juice when we arrived. He checked on our needs while we were playing cards. They allowed us to walk our bikes through the lobby to our rooms and to store our saddlebags the next day while we were out on the bike trail. There was plenty to choose from for breakfast. Everything looked clean and fresh. The rooms were a good deal at $95 plus tax. I wouldn't hestiate to recommend this hotel.... and the entire town.
I liked this place very much, they had nice good bar and restaurant in town and the steak was really delicious, the best i had so far....The property is right after freewayI80 easily accessable, very neat and clean and the staff is very friendly, they gave us freebies too :)Will stay and highly recommend
This motel has been totally remodeled. Very nice rooms, Very helpful staff. Nice hot breakfast. Very nice conference room for meetings. Updated indoor pool. We stay here every time we are in the area.
Okay so we rented a suite here for a weekend with kids we don't see often. Swimming was one of the main highlights to the weekend plans. Well we get told the pool is out of service. Clerk said it should be fixed by the next day. Well it wasn't. So swimming plans which let me add again was the highlight of the trip again was out of the question. Which made it hard to find something more plesant to do in town considering there was nothing to do. Had to drive at least 30 mins to find something to do. The breakfast was crappy. First morning Apple juice was out at 7am? Then the next day both Apple Juice and Orange Juice was out at 7am? I'm assuming they just simply was not refilled. On top of that the waffle mix was not the best. The bread was hard and stale as was the cerial. The muffins were the size of my palm. The only decent thing at the breakfast was the danish's. The warm up sandwhich's were not good either. Then went to wash some clothes in the washer and dryer upstairs and it took my quarters and sounded completely empty. Yes the clerk did give me my quarters back but did not have the urge to refill the machine. The clerk did not speak much english I could understand either. I do need to add though. The room was clean and tidy. Loved the room and thats about it!!
When the first thing you experience when you enter a room is ripped curtains, you are not very happy. Then the shower mat was ripped and when I went to bed I found the mattress pad was a bit short for the mattress. I'm used to the Best Western in South Beloit where I've never had a bad experience.
Always friendly service . They acknowledge returning guests as soon as rbe slightly overpriced for the market, but not to excess.eat service. Maybe a little overpriced for the market, but not excessively so
I called two weeks prior to a planned stay at this hotel and cancelled my reservation. I found a charge on my credit card after the planned trip. I called to question the manager and he said unless they sent me a cancellation email I was going to be charged for their mistake. Will not use this place in the future - what a rip off!
We checked in very late at night and the gentleman at the desk was very nice and gave us a great room. We enjoyed waking up to sweeping view of the surrounding cornfields. The room was clean and the common areas looked inviting. Breakfast was a bit sparce but our 9 yr olds were happy with the waffles and cereal.
Stayed hear overnight on my way to Sturgis SD. Very clean, very friendly and accommodating staff... Honestly, probably one of the most comfortable beds I ever slept in. Thank you very much and I highly recommend this place.
We had been driving 14 hours and looking for a good reviewed hotel. Loved this hotel, newer, clean, quiet, great breakfast with nice couches etc. to lounge. and very nice room. Indoor pool, patio with a grill. Will definitely stay again if in this area.
This is a great hotel and is especially nice given that there aren't too many quality hotels to stay in this area. We stayed here for a total of 3 nights. I've stayed here in the past and was pleased with that visit too. The only negative I can think of is that the pool was a little too cool for my comfort and there is no hot tub. Otherwise, an excellent hotel that my family and I enjoyed.
