"Boat Show 2018"

Very nice hotel clean and quiet. We stayed there for the Wilmington Boat Show. It was about 15 min away, but we wanted to be in between the boat show and Ft. Fisher so it was perfect. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and an IHOP one business over although they have a small complimentary breakfast if you choose. Housekeeping was friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the on site washing machine and housekeeping staff was awesome at helping us out. Would definitely stay again.

we stayed at the best western in carolina beach/wilmington in august 2018. first off it was way overpriced. long story short we found blood all around the toilet and blood all over the wall next to the sink where your hand towels hang. we notified them of this and left for the day. we came back over three hours later only to find they had not cleaned it. they switched us to a different room only to find that it stunk of ciggerates and cigars, the frige did not work and the ice bucket still had a bag of water in it like they had not cleaned this room either. we immediately made them aware of all of this and of the smoke smell so we would not get charged a smoking fee. then to ice the cake these crooks tried to scam us out of $300 on our credit card for a smoking fee. these people are dishonest crooks that do not know how to run a hotel. it just goes to show that no matter how nice a hotel looks that its only as good as the people running it. when i reported the charge on the credit card they were rude and acted like it was my fault. i honestly believe they tried to scam me and see if i noticed the charge. i did not even leave a review because i was trying to be nice about it, until i noticed they tried to scam me on my card.

Rates go up extremely for any holiday. Then drop back to average rates. The beds were for me uncomfortable, very stiff mattresses. Security doors on back of building were broken and anyone could enter facility.

booked a room with a whirlpool for a couple days and as soon as we got there it smelled like mildew and cleaner.. we got to the room and the smell of mildew intensified.. furniture had mold on it and we were ready to go somewhere else.. they were kind enough to offer us another room and lower the rate but still felt grossed out.. the other room was smaller and had a whirlpool as well but was not the cleanest room I've stayed in... once I got over that, our stay was tolerable.. breakfast was one of the best I've had so far at a hotel.. very kind staff... overall an okay experience... probably will not book again...

The rooms are comfortable, well decorated and very clean. The pool is amazing! The location is halfway between the beach and downtown Wilmington- perfect location! The breakfast was great and the staff very nice. Only negative is the small beds, doubles instead of queens, makes a tight squeeze for four people. We will stay here again! RECOMMENDED!

The key cards stopped working on almost a daily basis. Outlets within the lamps and by sink is so loose nothing can charge or use....blow dryer. Light by sink you never know how many times you would need to turn switch up and down until light would turn on. Hot breakfast non edible. Good thing IHOP is next to hotel. Front desk never says a hello or good morning. House keeping okay but don't ask for anything after 6pm. Weekend prices a bit high. No warm or welcoming feeling.

In regards to the breakfast, we do offer a hot breakfast with a different meat option each day in addition to our variety of grains and fruits. We are sorry our selection did not fit the taste of you and your family. We also have 3 luggage carts available to all of our guests to utilize, they are used on a first come first serve basis. In regards to the key cards, the magnetism is affected when held next to cell phones, laptops, etc. We do apologize for the inconvenience of coming downstairs to adjust your key cards due to this defect. We have also logged your maintenance issue into our system and the room is being serviced. Our housekeepers are trained not to touch the beds if any guest property has been left on them, which is the reason your beds were not made. We are sorry you were not able to acquire anything from housekeeping after 6 pm. Our housekeepers go home at or around 3 pm. After that, our Front Desk staff is available for accommodations such as extra linens or towels. We have given the necessary extra training to our Front Desk staff in regards to giving superior guest service to any and all future guests upon them walking into the hotel. Very nice staff, very clean rooms and building. The breakfast was good and had a big variety of items to choose from. I didn't go in the pool but it looked very nice at night it is lit up with different colored lights. Very cool.

Decently clean hotel. Not worth a $195 a night stay, even given the location and season, but you could do worse. Breakfast was ok and the area was kept clean. Second floor had a distinct mold smell in the hallways and rooms.

We checked out of our room from the Best Western Plus in Monkey Junction to simply check in to another hotel down the street. We were relieved to find this hotel so close to our home that was recently flooded and had to evacuate; however, that relief quickly turned into more stress. Checking into a hotel room for vacation or for a more unfortunate reason, like ours, parents expect to have a few things taken off their plates. As soon as we were given the keys to our room we stepped over the broken tiles in the doorway and unpacked our things just to realize that our room's phone and safe did not work (two things that we were going to use a lot during our stay). We had to phone the front desk from our cell phone and were told we'd be moved to another room across the hall. We then packed up our belonging again and were moved into another room to learn that its safe was also not working. After being without a home for a week and a half at that point we decided to just give up on the safe. Our room also had broken blinds, and broken tv remote, and the second day of our stay the refrigerator also stopped working and needed to be replaced. We lost all of the food we had in there, which is a big deal when you're paying for a home you can't live in, a hotel room, and everything you need in the mean time. During our time there we also experienced walking through smoke from rooms on the first floor on the way to the elevator, an employee fight in the lobby while apparently quitting on the spot very loudly, a broken hot tub, and to top it all off - our daughter was locked in the bathroom off the lobby in the pool room. Had we not been waiting there and gone to check on her (heard her screaming and pounding on the door for help), who knows how long she would have been stuck in there. When we alerted the front desk they simply said, "yea, that happens sometimes". Most of the staff was great; however, this was just unacceptable and we found different arrangement as soon as possible at the Hampton on 17th. We have now sent an email to the hotel and left two voicemails for the general manager and received no response. I would like to request we be refunded for at least part of our stay.

Hello Greg, I want to first start off by sincerely apologizing for the experience you had during your stay with us, especially given your living situation. We have reported the maintenance issues within both of the rooms you stayed in to our maintenance technician and they are currently being serviced. The hot tub was not working during your stay as a result of our guests utilizing the jacuzzi after returning from the beach. It has since then been repaired and is back in service. In regards to the smoke in the hallway, we advise each guest upon check-in that smoking is prohibited within our hotel. It is beyond our control as to whether or not guests decide to adhere to these policies, but my staff does their best to enforce them. Regarding the dispute between the two employees, it is a top priority in our hotel to maintain a professional attitude and atmosphere. Very nice clean place to stay, Friendly staff. Really a good location. Will most likely stay again when in Wilmington. Lots of restaurants. In an area where you can get to the beach in a few minutes and downtown wilmington is very close.

My room was horrible when I got there there was blood and black mold everywhere. It took over a hr for me to get in my "new room" which wasn't as bad the sheets were a bit dirty and we had to swap sheets to sleep. But 315 was unbelievable, although the staff was pretty nice.

The staff could not help with the lack of wifi connection, so I was forced to leave premises to conduct business. I reported it when first arrived the night before, but staff had no idea. They said wait till owner comes in at 9. That did not help me.

I have stayed at many hotels near Carolina Beach and this one is a hidden gem. Quiet hotel. Recommend staying upstairs if possible. Whirpool was nice and relaxing. Does take abut 10 minutes to fill up so plan accordingly. A few housekeeping concerns such as stray hairs near tub or spots on the desk, but nothing major. I wish there had been a listing of the tv lineup, but definitely enjoyed HBO channels. Great amenities such as pool, hot tub, and breakfast area. There are plenty of restaurant options nearby and the best coffee at Port City Java, but note the closing times of the restaurant, mostly everything closes around 12 or 1. Quick little drive to the beach! For the price, it's just as wonderful as a place to stay besides paying the big on the beach costs. Besides having a breakup during this trip, it was truly perfect vacation. Thanks for a great visit!

Every time we come to Carolina Beach, we stay here. We absolutely love it! The rooms are always ready on time for check-in, the breakfast is outstanding, and the front desk crew are always on point with their customer service! This location is perfect for families, as it's close to everything you need for activities and dining. The drive to the beach is only about ten minutes. Their pool and spa just add to the list of the reasons why we won't stay anywhere else but here!

Pretty good place! Definitely nothing extraordinary but overall very nice. Staff was nice. Everything was clean. The room was very comfortable but there were some cosmetic issues like the towel rack by the sink kept popping off and a small section of carpet seemed to be peeling back. The bath tub also let out water very slow. To me these are all very minor thing that did not affect how enjoyable my stay was. Love the pool and breakfast!

I have stayed here many times through the years and it has been probably 4 years since my last visit. The staff was very nice and it wasn't the worst hotel but the room could use some work and updates. The lighting was awful, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the room had an odor I couldn't place (thinking either a previous guest smoked in room or it was musty), the shower curtain was all frayed and old looking. The toilets seat was too small for the toilet and the room could use a deep cleaning including shampoo carpets. The price was fair.

Well, I was charged for a upgraded room that I did not request. I was told that would accommodate me because I was traveling so late at night and would get there by morning, I was not accommodated. They tried to charge me $74 just to stay in a temporary room for about five hrs until my room was ready. Once I refused and requested to either stay in a cheaper room once it's available or receive a refund, I was told no I will be charged. From there I requested the manager and corporate number , April (front desk clerk) told me no and I will have to just take what is on file. She also told me she did not have either number. I ended up not staying there because of the lack of work ethics and I was still charged $205.39 for one night. I contacted the manager and left a voice message. I have not received a call back. This happened the 25th of June 2028.

Booked this just as a quick stay as we were going fishing early the next morning out of Carolina Beach. Upon check in room smelled mildewy and moldy, I understand the humidity at the beach but this was something more than that, Carpet was torn and room though clean and neat was well worn, Back door to hotel kept being propped open and someone threw up in the elevator so no using it. Next time I would spend a little less and stay more into Wilmington or spend a little more and stay in Carolina Beach. The staff was very helpful at check in and check out and breakfast was good.

Weekend trip. Room was expensive. Front desk staff was pleasant. We had a whirlpool room. Because that was all that was left available. There was a lot of furniture in tbe room and it felt kind of tight. There was a used washcloth on the shower curtain rod and the bathroom smelled like mildew. There was mold on the ceiling in tbe bathroom. There seemed to be some housekeeping issues. Breakfast was okay. Was in a good area for shopping and restaurants. About 10-15 drive to Carolina Beach.

We stayed at this hotel for just one night, thank goodness. The decor in the room was very dark, the bathroom was extremely small and the sink wasn't even in the bathroom. It was just in the room, which was bizarre. Also, when you took a shower the water wouldn't drain. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable, there was plenty of parking, and there were several restaurants within walking distance.

Very Good Choice for access to Carolina Beach NC . Reception Front desk Annalyse was wonderfully helpful; she offered us her home made cookies on arrival! Enjoyed the indoor pool area and hot tub. Breakfast was very good as was the bold coffee. Although not fond of egg whites as a substitute for scrambled eggs and the turkey sausage was terribly dry. In a state like NC, known for their pork ribs, please serve the real products! Accessible room with a double bed should have had a tub with a grab bar rather than a hand held shower with a folding seat.Should have disclosed beforet checkout that a $2 daily safe fee would be added for an amenity that was in the room but not noticed or used.

My experience at this hotel was awesome. The breakfast was delicious (great options), the pool and jacuzzi were nice, and it was a very quiet hotel. It was very close to everything. The only bad thing was the bathroom extractor fan they should really install one so they will keep the bad odor out and not stay in the whole room..

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Hotel was clean, staff friendly and professional. Breakfast was great. If I was to every visit Wilmington NC this would be my spot to stay. I couldnt have asked for better. The receptionist was so kind she made goody bags for guests to grab and go if they were rushing. Very Nice Hotel. I would recommend it highly.

Overall a good experience. We arrived a little early and was allowed an early check in. The staff was nice and friendly, the room was well appointed and up to date, the location is near plenty of restaurants and a few minutes from both the coast and downtown Wilmington. The breakfast was an awesome free way to get the day started off. It's close to UNC-W if that's important. I'd stay again if in the area.

Very nice stay!!! Sandra tje front desk attendant is amazing!!! Their pool is nice and clean. Rooms are very nicely done! Love the breakfasts in the morning and its just a nice hotel to stay at!!! I would definitely recommend highly if you are going to Carolina Beach.

First let me start by saying that this hotel had the BEST hot breakfast that I've ever had from a hotel. It was nothing fancy, but the coffee was always hot, there was a good variety of hot and cold cereals, breads and pastries, and the eggs and meat were different each day. The breakfast area was clean and well attended. Kudos to the breakfast ladies, they do an excellent job! The room was clean and quiet; just a nice, basic, comfortable room. Staff was always pleasant and accommodating. We were in town to visit friends, will without question stay here again the next time we visit.

Must say this was a wonderful business trip the hotel room was so nice and clean the only problem I had was that the TV did not work properly and the safe in the room did not work properly but other than that it was an outstanding State the rooms were so nice and clean and the staff was so friendly disc was my first time ever staying at a Best Western but I will let you know I will stay at this hotel again when I'm in Wilmington

My husband, daughter, and I only stayed for one night at this hotel... but it was a pleasant experience nonetheless! When I checked in, I was informed that the room I had previously booked had a broken light fixture... so I was instead upgraded to another room that included a Jacuzzi tub! It was an unexpected bonus to our stay! My husband, who has sleeping problems, crashed like a baby on the comfortable king size bed. The heated indoor pool was extremely relaxing and well-designed. It was the first thing I noticed when I walked into the lobby... almost as if the hotel was saying,

Amazing front desk staff and 2 guest service managers that took exceptional care with our reservation. The room shower was roomy! and we enjoyed the hot breakfast and pool every day. Parking was easy and free. We would stay here again when traveling to Carolina Beach

We stay here when we go to Wilmington to visit family - the facility is beginning to show its age but seems well maintained and the staff is always friendly. The major benefits are the INDOOR pool for grandchildren and a good selection at breakkfast. The option of 2 queen bads instead of 2 double wouldl have been a help with a family of 4 staying - doubles are a bit on the small side!

Everyone was very nice and helpful. Rooms were very clean and well kept. We stayed over the Easter Weekend so we could take our son to see the NC battleship and NC Aquarium. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit the area and would recommend this hotel to others.

This hotel was used for a quick spring break getaway. There was a hair in the sink and a washcloth that we were not sure if it had been used hanging up on the towel rack. There were crumbs on the floor of the room that should have been vacuumed. Door to my room would not open several times I tried to enter and it turned green but would not open. Door was wide open to room upon check in. I asked about the door being open to the front desk and they said oh it was probably the housekeeping staff(seemed odd to me). The plugs in the lamp on either side of the bed did not work. Not so sure if we would stay again.

Room was clean and comfortable, pool was nice and my grandson enjoyed it. Loved the pancake machine, had them everyday. One downside which they have no control over is the raod noise. If you have a room facing the road you will hear the cars going by. But after a few days didn't notice it as much.

I was just here for the Wrightsville Beach Half Marathon, this was a great location only several miles from the beach, downtown and only a couple miles from UNCW. The hotel is clean and looks newly updated. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast attendant opened up breakfast half an hour early just for me. I asked just to make a waffle and grab some juice before my race and she started bringing out the eggs, bacon, etc. Would definitely stay at again.

Nice little getaway weekend, with indoor pool and spa, and breakfast. The room was a little quirky in that the sink/vanity is not in the bathroom but is instead just inside the room, next to the open (curtained) closet, across from the bathroom. Loved the sweet chaise lounge and the mini-fridge, and breakfast was well-stocked, including gluten-free scrambled eggs. Room for improvement: poor quality sheets and a just-warm-not-hot spa.

Nice big room, very clean. Comfortable bed. Indoor pool was warm. Hot tub was relaxing. Staff was very helful & friendly. They offer a big breakfast, eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, oatmeal, a variety of breads, yogurt with lots of toppings, juices and hot coffee!! We will be going back.

This is our 2nd time staying at a Best Western Plus and although we were in town for a funeral, we still had a great experience. Breakfast was always on point! The lady (blond and grey hair) that handled it while we were there was very accommodating and nice. The front desk staff was also friendly. We had a little family getaway and stayed here while we were in Wilmington. We payed $85. for two double beds and it was a great deal. The pool was perfectly heated and we enjoyed swimming. The hot tub was broke but since the pool felt so nice it was not needed. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I would recommend people staying here especially in the winter. The breakfast was pretty good for being free. We will be back. Keep up the good work!

We just stayed here a single night in January as we were passing through town. The hotel is easy to find off Hwy 421 in Carolina beach. Plenty of parking around the building. Two restaurants adjacent and a grocery and pharmacy nearby as well. The grounds are tidy and well kept. The hotel lobby is compact and does not have a lot of lounge space. Overall we enjoyed the room, but had a few mechanical issues. The bathroom door wouldn't latch, and one of the outlets was loose in the wall. Other than that - everything was good. Standard hotel offerings - wifi, tv, microwave, you know the drill. My kids loved the indoor heated pool. It was kept nicely warm and had soft blue lighting, cool at night. Good sized pool too. Plenty of towels and seating. There is a free breakfast, but I'm pretty sure there isn't a kitchen and everything is just unwrapped and heated. The automatic pancake maker was kinda cool. I stuck to yogurt, bananas, and the pancakes. The bacon and eggs didn't look like they'd make for a happy review. Good coffee. Beds are comfy, with plenty of pillows. Quiet rooms, clean and well kept. Decent price too (it is January....) My wife has told me we will definitely stay here again. I won't object.

Price was fair, enjoyed our stay it was quite clean and a great breakfast. It was a centralized location for my business, plenty of restaurants and other eateries around.I had a big truck and trailer and was allowed to park around back. I can see this being a problem in the busier months.

We spent three nights at the hotel while we were in Wilmington house shopping. We arrived after dark and were promptly greeted. When the gentleman at the desk offered a first floor room, I asked if he had something on a higher floor he was quick to accommodate. We had a nice room on the second floor which was very clean and much to our surprise, had a Jacuzzi tub! The room could use a little sprucing up, but for the price and location it was a good find. The indoor saltwater pool was great; we enjoyed it every evening we were there. The breakfast bar was well kept, well stocked and maintained by a very nice woman who worked very hard to accommodate the guests. The two women (Jessie?) and do not remember the other one's name were very kind, friendly and very helpful with restaurant recommendations as well as other pertinent information about the area. On the last night we were treated to homemade chocolate chip cookies which were delicious. The only issue was the cleaning staff; every day we needed to go to the front desk for towels, coffee, etc. The room was cleaned, but there was little attention to detail. If you don't mind an older hotel that needs a little updating, I recommend this hotel for its friendly staff, location and good rates.

I made a reservation through priceline.com. When I checked into the hotel they did not have my reservation, so I had to pay more out of my pocket. When I got back home, I called priceline.com and they called the hotel. Priceline.com asked them for a refund, and the hotel refused. So priceline.com wouldn't be able to refund me. When I got to my room, the heating and cooling wasn't working right, and I sweated all night. In the morning when I took a shower, there was no soap or shampoo in the dispenser in the shower.

I am sorry you are unsatisfied with your experience. The reason we did not have your reservation at check-in is because you mistakenly booked the room for nine days prior to your actual arrival (on Priceline, as you mentioned). Because we held the room for you the night of your Priceline reservation, we had to charge for that night, as well. It is always good to double-check your reservations, especially when not booking directly with the hotel, to make sure they are for the correct arrival date. We are sorry that soured your experience and we hope you will give us another chance in the future.

To be clear, the manager was not "nasty, rude and unaccommodating" at any time during your stay. This interaction only occurred more than six hours after your scheduled checkout time, when you were asked to leave the hotel because your stay had long since expired. This six hours included your time sleeping in the parking lot, as well. Unfortunately, that behavior is not permitted at this hotel and the manager was forced to act accordingly.

Very accommodating and great staff. Had a pool but never used it. Breakfast was very good and oranges and coffee were offered 24 hours. Rooms were pleasant. Overall experience was very nice. I have stayed at several BW and been pleasantly surprised by them since their upgrades. Some offer suites which are very nice.

We have stayed her twice now and we will be back. Great location, great employees and great amenities. The hot tub and pool are always clean, parking lot is clean and safe and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Close enough to the beach without all the crazy traffic. Very clean, great free breakfast buffet - assortment changes daily. Great location. HOWEVER, indoor pool water literally colder than the ocean, indoor seating area around pool also way too cold to sit - so could not enjoy the pool. Pillows need to be replaced. Using crib size pillows - terrible. Make one move and you roll off the pillow - never seen pillows that small and soft. Took forever to fall asleep. Staff friendly. Took off one star each for the pillows and pool. Also, only two small drawers for your clothes, etc. - had to use night stand drawer for a three day stay. No vent in shower area either. Won't be returning due to the price and shortfalls.

A warm welcome. Room size is moderate. Large pool for swimming this shuts at 9pm. We wish it could of stayed open a little later. Access to a lot of restaurants across the road for dinner. Free parking is always a bonus. Breakfast is continental not a lot of options. We would stay here again if the needed arises.

I was greatly disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room I occupied was, according to hotel staff, undergoing a guest room renovation which was incomplete. The artwork was missing from the walls, with only empty hooks exposed in their place. I found this to be in poor taste; especially for an upgraded room, with an upgraded price. My room was left uncleaned during my stay. Upon reporting this oversight to front desk staff, I was blamed for either leaving a "do not disturb" tab in the door, or personally requesting that the room remain uncleaned; neither of which were true. As it was discovered later, a hotel staff person mistakenly requested my room be left uncleaned. As an attempt to compensate me for the inconvenience, I was offered a discounted rate for an additional night's stay. I requested the hotel comp one night of my two night stay, but staff refused that request, and would not contact the GM, at my request, so I could speak with him regarding the matter.

Excellent staff. We come back again because of them. Had issue in our room and was corrected immediately. Breakfast was always yummy and staff ensured everything was fresh. Pool area was delightful and we enjoyed having toys for the kids to play with. Clean towels always available.

Pretty nice room, the bed was a bit hard for my liking, but other than that it was fine. The in room whirlpool was very relaxing. Carolina beach was beautiful. This hotel is not on the beach but it's a very short drive to the beach and to the aquarium.

Great staff. Nice pool. Several diverse eating experiences within walking distance, ex. free Mexican food next door- very good, southern/home style - excellent across the street. Only 10-15 miles from coastal area, yet very close to Wilmington for work. Be aware rates are nearly double on week-ends from week days. Also, there is no sleeping late if you want breakfast. By the time we got there, along with a half a dozen other people, there were very limited choices. All in all a pretty good place to stay.

This trip was very last minute and actually with no planning at all .the type trip no one really does but just thinks about doing. And I think that by with keeping that in mind was about as stress free as u can get. .and after exploring all around the area it started getting late and then sleepy well after trying several other places and all sold out then I finally saw the best western sign and well the night ended with a awesome room for a great price and a great night sleep. And totally recharged for the next day of exploring the beaches and the sites

My wife and I stayed here for two nights while house hunting in Wilmington. Outside of the gentleman that was working the first night, the only other person that was really nice was the breakfast attendant. The pancake maker was broken, so all you had to choose from was bacon, eggs, potatoes. Cereal, grits, yogurt, and fruit. Besides some bagels and other breads. My wife was upset. Also, they have a list of charges for things if they come "missing" from your room. Check the image I uploaded. It's absurd! The second night we asked for a blanket. They gave us a "blanket" that was just a bit thicker then a sheet. My wife went and returned it. The first night we had to be moved because the bathroom had mold on the ceiling. Our second room the next morning we noticed the a/c filters hadn't been cleaned. All things that housekeeping missed and we had to bring to their attention. No wonder they have bad reviews. I asked about what kind of "deal" I could get because I was staying three more days and there was another Best Western Plus that was offering a room for $87 a night. The manager said he could only do $127. Needless to say, he lost my business for those nights. This other hotel, which I will review later, is far better anyway. Keep a lookout!

There were several issues with my stay. The air conditioning did not work, the hot tub did not work, the heated pool was ice cold. Children were allowed to roam the hotel and horse play at the pool, which violated the hotels own rule postings and kids yelled and screamed until after 11 pm. We then received a 6am wake up call that we DID NOT ask for. Upon complaining, the "overnight" help could not assist without conferring with mgmt. the next morning.

Stayed here last minute to come for a funeral and was very disappointed to find a pillow in our room with multiple blood stains on it! When I Called downstairs the desk clerk was kind enough to bring another pillow case but was not apologetic he just took it as if it was no big deal. Then we thought the room was queen size beds no it was some small sort of full size beds which was hard with a family of 4. Definitely happy we were just here very briefly otherwise would definitely have canceled the reservation . And the hot breakfast was a disappointment as well the pancake machine was broke but so glad we had ihop close by though you paid to have a hot breakfast at the hotel. The look of the hotel is clean, the breakfast area is clean,and the morning staff is very nice,but I must say I will not recommend this hotel. And not kid friendly if you are looking for something on tv to entertain the kids while you and the hubby get ready well they only have 2 channels for kids out of the barely 20 channels on the TV and our 5 and 6 year old had nothing appropriate to watch on tv.

Stayed at this location only because of heated pool and hot tub and were told at time of reservation that both were working as we had seen a couple of reviews of the hot tub not working. Unfortunately, during our two night stay, the pool was cold and the hot tub did not work at all. The breakfast was good and the new front desk clerk was sincere, but just disappointing as we were told the manager would contact us but never heard from him.

The Staffing the overall Motel was very clean and friendly atmosphere very hot breakfast served every morning 6 to 10 plenty of towels in the room if you did need anything though staff was right on it to get it get what you needed on frigerator microwaves in the rooms coffee pots fully stocked very very clean room so will visit again we'll stay there again very well-lit parking lot for any of you contractors out there such as myself needing a room so you can keep your tools safe and secure

Hotel was as advertised. Clean, Crisp and the staff was on point with their professional, friendly service. Quickest check in I have ever had and staff was always smiling. Close to the Carolina Beach, downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in the vicinity. Great place for small and large families....they can accommodate you.

This is a great hotel. It's fair as far as hotels go but the indoor pool and free breakfast make it worth it with small children. They really enjoyed the pool. The front desk staff is excellent!! They are super caring, professional and kind.

This isn't on the beach but that was OK. We drove to 2 different beaches while we were there. Both were nice. The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly. Very clean. Nice indoor heated pool. Would have preferred 2 Queen sized beds instead of 2 Double beds but it was OK.

We had 4 stay 2 nights, one teenager, two adults and one in elementary school. Room was very uncomfortable, especially the beds being to small for 4. Breakfast was ok. Was good for the budget but would not go back.

We arrived on Wednesday (8/9) for just a short two night stay. We stay in Best Westerns the majority of the time when not staying with our vacation club. We are normally happy with the BW label and don't usually have much to complain about. To start off the rooms are extremely small and do not have much room for a family to move around in. Small and cramped but the rooms were updated. We were in a room that upon entering the air conditioning was not working. We pushed buttons and it came back on. Through the first night I was up on three separate occasions because the AC had stopped working again. The next morning I told the front desk and they said they would have someone check. We were out of the room until 10 PM that evening. Upon return the room was warm and sticky. I pushed the same buttons again and nothing happened. The front desk receptionist (very apologetic and tried her hardest to get it working) came to the room and tried to get it working. Upon not being able to get it to work we were moved to another room. The issue really was that this should have happened when I told them about the issue not at 10:30 at night. The rooms on the front side of the hotel are very noisy, lots of road traffic. The rooms on the back were not as noisy because they backed the parking lots. Nice poll area, but overall unsatisfied with the quality of the brand. For the rates they are charging, best in the area for a weekday I would say the accommodations are fair. We most likely won't stay at this particular hotel again as there are 3 other BW's in the area. The staff made a difficult stay much easier with their hospitality and willingness to help rectify the situation.

We only stayed one night, but I wish we could have stayed a week! We stayed in the King Whirlpool Suite and the bang was certainly worth our buck. Comfy,clean, impressive. The only downfall was the door to the balcony overlooking the pool (It is not sound proof, so at 9am, the kids squealing and having a blast in the pool, put a damper on sleeping in much later.) I will definitely book again and look forward to it.

Beware of bedbugs! After spending 2 days at this hotel I had bites on my torso in 3 different places. Large area with multiple bites. This ruined my vacation as the areas were very itchy and painful. I will be contacting the hotel with pictures.

Thank you for sharing feedback on your recent stay at our hotel. After your departure, we closed your room until the third-party inspectors could come out. Steritech, which is an international unbiased inspection company, came and completely dismantled the room in question. They found zero evidence of any traces of bed bugs in the room. Unfortunately, we do live in a world where bed bugs travel via suitcases. In no way does this imply that we are blaming you for the incident, as this individual bed bug may have hitched a ride in your suitcase from you last hotel visit or plane ride, unbeknownst to you. We take all reports of bed bugs very seriously, which is why we bring in a third-party independent inspector who is highly trained and experienced in locating even the most minute evidence of the presence of bed bugs. We deeply regret that you had this experience while at our hotel, but we hope our efforts to do everything we could will demonstrate that we go out of our way to ensure the health and safety of our guests.

The hotel staff was really friendly and overall the hotel appeared to be clean. But, there was an awful mildew/ mold smell throughout the building. You smell it as soon as you walk in. My husband and I bought dryer sheets to place in the vent and candles. I also cleaned the toilet due to there being mildew on the cover. It wasn't completely on when we arrived. The smell turned us off to trying their breakfast and their hotel grade was 96.5. We were planning to stay two nights but requested to cancel the second one. Due to the fact that we purchased our stay through hotels.com they couldn't change it. Hotels.com said that we could cancel the second night but all they could offer us was $100 to be used with them at a later date. We ended up staying one full night, hung out all day the next day and checked out around 8PM. We didn't want to spend another night. We will be more careful next time.

When we arrived the staff at the hotel were very friendly, professional and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast impressed me with the variety of foods that they had. They had bacon, eggs, gravy, pancakes, bread, cereal, bagels, yogurt and several other items as well. 3 different types of juices, milk and coffee. My family loved it!

My family and I loved this hotel. Close to Wilmington and Carolina Beach without the ridiculous price of hotels on the beach. We walked to Islands Mexican Grill one night for dinner for 1.00 tacos and then swam in the pool for the remainder of the night. Everything was clean and well kept. Staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend to others and will be back!

Our room was incomplete, no closet and empty picture hangers. It looked like someone had stolen the hotel art, as if......and there was no where to put our clothes or bags as there was no closet, just a safe balanced on an ice bucket where the closet should have been.

It was okay. I had double beds. The beds were very little I had asked before hand was they little beds because it's going to be couples in the beds. I was told yes, when I got there it was not at all what was told to me. It was clean and very neat. My only problem was the bed was not comfortable for my better half and I. Over all it was okay. The staff was very nice I most likely will come back but with a different room type.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. Room was nice and quiet. Breakfast was a little disappointing - cold omelets, but the microwave fixed that. I was surprised that a hotel this new did not have walk-in showers. There also were no little bottles of shampoo or conditioner; perhaps it was an oversight but luckily I had a spare little one with me. I was also there as an extension of a business trip for one night and since it was after Memorial Day, the rates were high.

We came to visit our grandson as he graduated from his high school. The accommodations are convenient to the location of the event and especially to our grandson's family home. The stay at your hotel was brief but so wonderful, clean rooms and beds, extremely friendly staff and owner! The coffee and breakfast was perfect as we departed the next day. AND, though we didn't get to use it, we thought the pool area was really nice. Perfect place for events like ours or for longer stays, with quick access to both Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach. Restaurants are all around too! Thank you for the service!

This is one of the worst hotel i stayed in, It was like sleeping in the tent at parking lot. no privacy no installation in the hotel We have to listen all night live making and shouting noises. it was rip off $300 a night.

At check in the price went up for each guest. The manager was very rude. The room was not clean. The towels were stained. The room had way too many nasty notes with price tags. Tub was broken and shower was clearly not cleaned in awhile.

Over all, we had a fair experience, friendly staff, and the hotel's location was central to most places including the beach. Noise and lack of parking in the back lot was a huge problem, but not a show stopper. We would think about staying there again in the future.

Hotel lobby was nice and check in was easy and convenient. Our room was small and the bathroom too with only one sink inside of the room. The room looked clean but one pillow had stains and the curtains were dirty or mildew, not sure. Staff was friendly and breakfast was okay. Only stayed at the hotel a short time due to a busy weekend at a soccer tournament. Ice maker was empty on Sunday and when we discovered that we left my sons blanket in the room and called, no real effort was made to let us know when it was found etc. For the price of the hotel, I expected much better.

We arrived at the hotel very late and were greeted by friendly staff members who quickly checked us in and reviewed the amenities of the hotel with us. Our room was clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable and complimentary breakfast the next morning was more than I expected. Omelettes, sausage, bagels, danishes and made to order waffles were just a few of the selections. The food was hot and well stocked even at the end of the serving time. The hotel was conveniently located to the waterfront and the Battleship NC. Would stay here again if in the area.

My bride and I were married on 4/22/2017 and stayed our first night at the Best Western in Wilmington before traveling on to our Honeymoon. The room and amneties were outstanding and we were very pleased with the entire experience. The indoor pool was a plus and jacuzzi in the room was a treat !!

Check-in: beds unmade, with sheets that had clearly not been changed. Move to room across the hall: hotel is on the highway. Rooms on that side get noise from traffic. Very noticeable. Move to third room: room is good. Not great. Alarm going off in room down the hall. I went to check it out. Room empty, door left ajar. Best part? The back door was unsecured all night. Closure was also not attached. Had been attached many times, evidenced by a the many holes in the door.

This professionally run hotel/motel is immaculate. It is conveniently located to both the city of Wilmington and to Carolina Beach and Kure Beach attractions. The hotel is also located on a service road adjacent to US 421 and is thus, quiet. In short, a super stay.

The hotel looked like the website. I had booked right before heading down for a quick day at the beach. The price was reasonable. The check-in was very swift and staff member was polite. The room was clean other than the small decorative "duvet" at the bottom of the bed. I am not sure if that is changed daily. Other bedding was clean. Nice to have refrigerator and microwave in the room along with coffee maker and Wi-Fi. Easy to get to and close to the beach. Plenty of stores and restaurants around the hotel. The indoor pool was very nice. We also enjoyed the breakfast. I'd definitely recommend to others and would stay again.

My rating of excellent stems from Best Western being in the "2.5 stars" class of hotels on Trip Advisor, but far exceeding my expectations! Obviously not the Ritz, but I was very pleased to pay less than $100 a night for a modern, clean and spacious room that would have been 2 or 3 times as much cost in a larger metro area. The breakfast was the standard that you would expect to get included with your stay, and included several hot options such as eggs, bacon and sausage gravy. Not much else to say except that I would not hesitate to stay there again and to recommend to anyone needing a spot in that southern area of Wilmington. Kudos to Best Western.

We stayed in a king suite with the jacuzzi tub. Our friends had an adjoining room that had 2 doubles instead of queen beds. The tub was huge in our room. We were hesitant to use it because we weren't sure how clean it was. Well...it had a surprise hairball when we drained it that couldn't possibly have been from us. The breakfast menu in the room is not correct, but breakfast was good. Overall everything else was clean and the staff were very accommodating.

The hotel was nearly full when I checked in. The service staff was very friendly and helpful. Sadly, the room I was given was uncomfortably humid. I asked for a different room and the only other room available was meant for a handicapped guest. So I just opened my room's window and managed. Getting ready for bed, I plugged my phone into the convenient outlet on the lamp base, but it was not working. So I went to find another plug and discovered the light wasn't working over the vanity. I called the desk to get a new bulb but all they could offer was a flashlight for the night. I laughed for a moment until I realized she was serious. Minutes later I called her back when I discovered the shower wasn't working. Needing this room for just 1 night, I turned off what light I had and got some rest. In the morning when checking out, the manager asked, "How was your stay?"... He decided to wave the room fee. I believe they did everything they could to accommodate given their full house.

We've stayed at this facility in the past. So, a trip to Wilmington encouraged a return visit. Nice stay with clean rooms and indoor pool. With my credit card on file, the room charge was automatically billed on September 26th. I received the standard "how did you like your stay" email on September 27th. Noticing that I was overcharged for the stay, I notified the hotel the same day. October 1st, I was notified that difference would be credited back to my card per "HP." Still waiting on October 15th! The cruel irony is that the amount of the overcharge is relatively small. Human error? That being said, this is classic O.P.U.D. or over-promise and under-deliver. Very poor customer service. With many future trips planned to Wilmington, it is frustrating to consider another lodging facility.

Pro: They handled problems of dealing with the storm quite well (window leaks, power outage for a few hours). The breakfast was a nice variety of foods and beverages. Cons: The disappointing part of our stay (and we are a frequent visitor to Best Western Plus facilities) was assignment to a room that had a large (18"?) sticky stain on the carpet. After our first night I mentioned the stain/goop to housekeeping. They indicated it had been reported before...nothing done. The desk chair was also quite dirty and sticky...I had to wash it down with soap and water. And...the hydraulic no longer holds pressure...chair should be replaced. When the carpet problem was mentioned to the front desk two days later the response was they had no maintenance staff because of the storm. Long story shorter...the room should not have been rented. The next stay at BWPlus will involve a room check before occupying the room.

I want to give them 5 stars, but when I went to check in I was told that they no longer had a King bed room on the lower floor, which I had requested due to physical limitations. I had booked way in advance, so there was no reason a room should not have been available. I was offered a first floor room with 2 beds. When I went to the room, it was very musty, damp and smelled like mildew. With my allergies, I obviously couldn't stay in that room, and even without allergies, who would want to! The woman at the desk was very helpful and I was given a 3rd floor room with a king bed. Unfortunately it was at the end of the hallway and without my son there to help, it would have been a hardship on me to get my luggage to the room. I give them 5 stars for cleanliness, friendliness and all over attraction. The breakfast was extensive and the attendant was fabulous. I did not get the chance to use the pool or hot tub, but the area is right off the lobby and the large windows afforded me the chance to check it out. I will definitely be staying there often because my son and his family has relocated to Wilmington.

Enjoyed this hotel. The breakfast was not that great though. The food tasted artificial. We enjoyed the jetted tub in our room. The hotel was nice and quiet. We will stay here in the future. One more thing that was a concern was the hot water. The sink did not get hot at all.

This BW hotel is located in the Myrtle Grove section of Wilmington (South-side) I use it for business (conference guests) and have found it to be professional, convenient and most satisfactory for our purposes. With easy parking and a very effective road net, the location, with three adjacent restaurants and ample shopping opportunities is ideal for our guests.

Was not located on the beach but was close enough to drive to the beach. Had pool and whirlpool at hotel along with hot breakfast. They kept changing the price of the room every night. Staff could not direct you to local eating places..

The room me and family had was pleasant, two double bed, lots of seating . The internet was fast, was very happy since I got to work form my lap top. The beds were horrible, had a hard time sleeping, very very firm. Me and family had a good time, we enjoyed the indoor pool nice drive to Carolina Beach.

Attractive. Clean. Great hot breakfast with healthy choices. Gorgeous indoor pool and spa area and outdoor grilling area. Room was small but adequate. After a long day at Wrightsville beach my family was looking forward to a nice stay at this hotel. Pictures on their site show a hotel that seemed clean and up kept. Even the reviews on trip advisor showed it to be a great deal. I wish we would have looked deeper at the reviews. The room we were given at this "non-smoking hotel" reeked of smoke, the floors were dirty and the bath tub wasn't clean and had dirt everywhere. Also, the TV didn't even work in our room. When we confronted the front desk she didn't seem surprised by our findings and offered us another room, room 101. However, she did seem hesitant to even offer it to us, saying "it should be ok". When we walked into the second room, it smelled even worse than the other, like mildew. Tired we decided to ask for a refund and take our business elsewhere. The front desk attendant was very apologetic and understanding (and the only reason I gave a two rating) however, she couldn't give us a refund and gave us the managers contact information. Currently, we are still trying to get our refund. Again, I wish we would have read the lower rated reviews before we booked this hotel. It's obvious others have also experienced the same frustrations and the hotel manager/owners have done nothing to fix the problems brought forward.

I don't want this to be terribly long, so I'll give a quick background and then pros and cons. Our family of 4 (kids 8 and 5) drove from VA to NC for a quick beach vacation last week. The hotel had a rate in our budget, and the pictures made it look like a great deal. pros: - close to carolina beach and the aquarium - reasonable drive to downtown - great size mini fridge in room - kids loved the pool. - provided shampoo and body wash were pretty decent. cons: - the electrical outlets were all loose. we couldn't charge our devices. - the room just seemed dirty. maybe it was the color scheme? but the carpet didn't look all that clean, and we didn't walk on it without shoes or socks. - there was no updated channel guide for the TV, so we had no idea which channel was what. everything we pushed was not was was listed. - the room was SMALL. there were 2 small drawers provided for four people. we couldn't move around each other. - the room phone had such static we couldn't hear when we called the front desk. - the ironing board was broken. - the beds were so firm that none of us could sleep well. my children cried each night. - you couldn't be in the bathroom and close the door without standing in the bathtub. yes, IN the bathtub. there was only about an inch between the door and the toilet. - the bathroom door didn't lock or latch. - breakfast wasn't exactly kid-friendly. - the hot tub wasn't very warm. - the plumbing for the sink was backwards (meaning you twisted left for cold water), only there was no cold water pressure. - the shower (third floor room) had very little water pressure. - there weren't enough tables in the breakfast room for guests to eat at. they only had 2-3 tables that sat 4 people. - the desk chair was severely worn and the "leather" was torn in multiple places. It was our first experience in Wilmington and our first experience with Best Western Plus. We loved Wilmington, but probably won't go back to another hotel in this chain. If I'm paying almost $500 for a hotel room, I expect it to at least function properly and be comfortable.

My husband and I travel by road between Montana and Florida twice yearly. Additionally we make trips up to Wilmington, NC to visit our daughter and family several times a year. This hotel/motel is nearby. It is by far the BEST Best Western we have ever stayed in. It is a JOY to stay here and their wonderful staff make us feel totally at home! The place is immaculate, staff is wonderfully helpful and accomodating, breakfast is great!! They have truly made this place the BEST!!!

Whenever I go out of town, the first hotel I always consider is Best Western. The hotels are just right, not too fancy, and high quality. Of course, all hotels aren't perfect and the problems I have encountered at BW have been minor. I've never had anything overly bad to say about them. All I can say is to keep up the good work, BW!

We headed down at the last minute to Wilmington for a friend's birthday party and wanted to find a good place to stay nearby the party. This was it! Chech-in was a breeze and the staff is efficient and friendly. Our room was small and what I consider pricey for one night but it was lovely and quiet and the bed was really comfortable. I only wish we'd had what I I heard was a great complimentary (!) cooked to order breakfast and had a chance to enjoy the beautiful indoor pool. The bathroom was really small with the sink outside the bathroom proper and lacking the usual lovely toiletries but that's not a deal breaker. I only wish this were closer to the beach! I'd recommend this Best Western!

I am normally a firm Hampton Inn/Hilton Honors only customer but decided live outside of my comfort zone and give this hotel a try. The hotel room was average however, we found the soap/shampoo/conditioner dispenser in the bathroom was laying in the bath tub in pieces. When we reported this to the front desk, we were told that a service ticket would be put in for that room and it would be fixed by Monday. Good except that we were checking out Sunday. The biggest issue is that I paid for the hotel room twice. I paid for the room initially on Hotel.com and then when checking in, the front desk clerk asked for a credit card to use as a hold in case there were room charges. I get home to discover that I was charged for the room again on the card with the hold. 4 days later and it is still not resolved.

The room have a horrible odor, which can be smelled out in the hallway. The pool and hot tub are same temperature COLD. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those with breathing problems. Credit given was nothing in compared to the money I had to spend. Over-priced!!!!!!

Also, this is a non-smoking hotel, so if one of your neighbors was smoking, all you would have to do is notify the front desk and we could have had them removed immediately. Accidentally made our reservation at this best western after driving 12 hours. Made an honest mistake... Called the hotel 20 minutes later and was told they would not refund me. Real nice! We had no choice but to stay after spending $135. The hotel is not within walking distance of the beach or anything. We drove across the street to dinner because we definitely weren't crossing this street on foot. The elevator had BLOOD on the floor, along with blood on the wall on the third floor. The chaise lounge in our room has something on it.. Looks like vomit. I am extremely extremely disappointed. The right thing for this hotel to do is to refund our money! Absolutely disgusted with the things I am seeing. Would never stay here again or recommend to my worst enemy! Oh, also still waiting for a call from the manager from hours ago. Real professional! Would feel better sleeping on the damn street! Water pressure in the shower sucks, and the list goes on. Don't stay here!!!!

The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The breakfast was great for a continental breakfast. The rooms were clean. The only issue I had in the room I stayed in was there were stains on the chaise and on the throw pillows on the bed. I would think they could have cleaned those stains prior to reserving the room to the next customer. A little stain remover goes a long way. Since I didn't have to sit in the chaise or use the decorative pillows on the bed, I was okay. It just made me think if the housekeepers didn't consider spot cleaning those items, what else was left that wasn't considered. With all that being said, I would stay there again. It wasn't that far away from Carolina Beach. The staff was courteous, the guests were very friendly as well.

This was our third time staying at this hotel because we enjoy the service and hospitality at this hotel. The only problem we had was the cleanliness of the pool. The hotel was in a good area close to restaurants and the beach.

Staff knowledgeably, friendly and ready to help. If something needs attention they get to it immediately. Great breakfast! Always had bacon. sausage and variety of cooked eggs. Good selections of pamphlets/coupons for locations of interest in the area.

I had to travel to Wilmington for the unfortunate reason of a funeral I was not sure where to stay and booked on the same day as my stay I was quite pleased - the hotel was clean , the staff friendly and the hotel was a terrific value

Very satisfied. Clean, comfortable and quiet . Enjoyed the swimming pool. Close proximity to two beaches. I was able to see Carolina beach, Kure beach and take my son to Fort Fisher Aquarium. Close to shopping centers r/t I had left something at home.

This hotel is extremely over priced for what you actually get. $200 for a week night and $250 for weekend nights, you are paying for the location not the accommodations. The rooms are small and bathrooms are even smaller, indoor only pool with no outdoor space to get some sun. When the air in my room turned on it smellt like mildew. I usually do not stay at Best Western but thought since this was a "Plus" it would be nice, boy was I wrong! Never again! Save your money and stay at a nice hotel for the same amount of money

Also, I apologize that when using our heated indoor pool and hot tub you missed the outside patios on either side of you, including our grill area. Loved the pool and its location, it was around just about every restaurant and within a 5 min driving distance to the beach. A very simple hotel but can use a more customer oriented approach to keep them coming back. Simple things as perhaps, happy hours, free water available, snacks during certain hours of the day and a more friendly type of approach will help this hotel attract a lot more.

Comfortable, convenient, but getting "tired' inside the rooms. THe external presentation is very, very nice, well maintained and nicely landscaped. However, the rooms could use better maintenance, fresh decor, cleaner tile and carpeting and closer attention to 'amenities' like toilet paper rollers and remote controllers. Oh, and bath soap. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. A+.

The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. I wish the beds were bigger, there were full beds instead of Queen beds. The free hot breakfast was an added bonus. My party enjoyed the clean pool and jacuzzi. I would book this hotel again.

"Such a disappointment"

We have stayed at many Best Westerns over the years and have always been very pleased. This Best Western was a huge disappointment. Upon entering our non-smoking room, we were hit with a strong smell of cigarette smoke, which never went away the entire weekend, which tells me smoking in our room had occurred over a long period of time without proper cleaning/airing out. Since we had been traveling for 7 hours, we headed to the bathroom only to find what appeared to be a bloody string or dental floss laying across the toilet seat. I immediately called the front desk and the clerk that checked us in arrived with a canister of Lysol wipes for us to clean the toilet with. In addition, there appeared to be some sort of brown substance on the wall behind the toilet as well as on the wall in front of the toilet. The toilet seat attachments were surrounded by pink mold. We also found long black hairs on our pillowcases. It was a fairly warm day and because of the heavy smoke smell we tried to turn the air conditioner on its high setting to hopefully help with the smell. Both of our children are asthmatics and the smell of the room was getting to be a real problem. We found the air conditioner was not working. We called back down to the front desk to tell them about the heavy smoke smell and the air conditioner and they sent a housekeeper to the room with air freshener that she proceeded to spray everywhere and then she tried to fix the air conditioner. AT NO TIME WERE WE OFFERED OR GIVEN A NEW ROOM, which is standard for even the most average of hotels. She told us the air conditioner was "fixed" and left. Needless to say that evening, we had no cool air at all. It was completely broken. None of us slept. In the morning I went down to the desk to speak to the clerk about it and was told they would fix it while we were gone. Upon returning in the evening I asked the same evening clerk who had given us the Lysol wipes if the air conditioning was fixed and his response was "I have no idea". I asked him to check and he came back and said, "We replaced an air conditioning unit somewhere today so I'm guessing it was yours.". When we got to the room the unit had been replaced and worked fine. When we checked out, we weren't asked about our stay or anything, which has never not occurred at a Best Western property. We expressed our displeasure and asked that one of our nights be comped given that we had no air conditioning and the room was filthy and the clerk said he couldn't help us. We are Best Western Rewards members and I am happy to say that they did comp us via points for the night we were without air conditioning. We will never stay at this location again. The sad thing is that we are loyal Best Western customers and we may return to the Wilmington area as one of our children is interested in the UNC Wilmington campus. Definitely lost business for this property.

We apologize for falling short of expectations during your recent stay. A few things need to be pointed out: 1) the reason you were not offered another room that first night is because it was a Saturday and we were completely sold out; 2) when you returned on the second night, we immediately called you in your room to check with you to make sure the air conditioner was working and that everything was to your satisfaction (you said it was), because we could have moved you to a different room that night if you so desired; and 3) the reason we could not issue the refund for the first night here at the hotel level is because you paid with rewards points, which can only be returned by the people at Best Western Rewards (which, I am glad to hear, is exactly what happened). I am sorry if these efforts were insufficient and wish you best of luck in your future travels.

"Not worth the price"

Was charged twice what this hotel was worth. Small rooms, both the room and especially the bathroom. Small lobby but with comfy seats. Breakfast area was cramped and the breakfast was mediocre at best. The eggs were flavorless (from a liquid rather than fresh eggs?). The pool was smaller than the pictures suggest. Need to enter pool area to use bathroom on the first level. Back doors were broken and didn't require a key card.

"More hassle for more money this time"

I always stay at Best Western and when I say always I mean it. This time was a bit disappointing because on arrival I found out I couldn't get points for my stay which I've always have even if I booked on trivago or another site. The clerk brushed it off and said yea that's how that works and wouldn't be any bit compassionate or offer any help or discount rate because I even told him that was a killing for the room. I had spent way less before and even at areas that were way near the beach but he said that's the way it goes regretfully. I feel he just didn't want to be bothered truthfully. The room was nice and it was cleaned as expected but the odd thing I have never encountered was running out of outlets. The TV was plugged up into the lamp. The microwave wasn't plugged up at all. The refrigerator seemed like it wasn't working at all half the time. I had to rearrange the plugs or call for a surge protector which I feel there should have been one there in the first place but then once we went to plug in cell phones and tablets there went another problem. I'm a creature of habit but this time really irritated me more than relaxed me and I was kind of releaved to go which bothers me because I bragged over Best Western in the past but this time other than clean bed and bathroom there was nothing else enjoyable about it sorry to say.

This can be done online, by calling 1-800-Western or by calling the hotel directly. However, points are not awarded when the room is booked through a third party, which has always been the case with our award-winning rewards programs. I apologize if you had been led to believe otherwise. Additionally, when you book through a third-party site, the price is set by that booking company and cannot be changed by the hotel (because the third-party site is collecting a commission based on the initial agreed-upon price). As a result, any discounts would have to be provided by the company you used to make the reservation. I am sorry if this led to some confusion. I would recommend, in the future, to always book directly through the hotel whenever possible. We can always match/beat any similarly behaving rates, and it gives us much more flexibility when it comes to things such as rewards points, rate changes, etc. We appreciate your loyalty to our brand and we hope you'll give us another opportunity to provide you with superior customer service here in the near future.

"Last option for me..."

Biggest concern.... NOT SECURE! It never occurred to me to actually pull on the two (of how many total - not sure) doors I tried to use to get in after receiving my keys at the front desk and parking. There was a sign stating that for the safety of our guests a key is required for entry (or similar verbiage) along with a card reader. But after numerous attempts ans both doors/card readers continuing to flash red, I rolled my luggage back to the front of the hotel only to find the, "back in five minutes" sign still up and after a short while, the desk clerk emerging from the pool area again. When I told him my key would not work in the door, he responded to me that the doors do not lock. He said that they disabled the working locks because they had cameras installed. I am incredulous - the cameras do not tell you whether the guy in a ball cap entering from any of those doors is a guest or a rapist!! Not that it would necessarily make it better - but these doors are not Street front and then there is the question of who is watching these cameras - the attendant that was in the pool area? ( and by the way I think it feasible that he may have had legitimate business there) In a nutshell, anyone at any time can access the hotel's interior. OTHER NEGATIVES - Light from the hall showed clearly around all sides and below the door. That, combined with being able to hear the people above me, made for poor rest. Odor - I acknowledge that their sign says no pets allowed. But there was a DISTINCT strong odor in my room that can only be described adequately as a dirty dog smell. Maybe someone snuck one in the side door? POSITIVES- Other than the odor, the bathroom and room were clean. The ammenities were "okay" and the price for an overnight stay is a little better than say a Haampton if you are comfortable with the misgivings listed here.

Hotel was very easy to find a overall location was ok for us. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and the overall decor was good. Continental breakfast was good and area was clean. Beds were a little hard and uncomfortable for an extended stay but overall hotel will be one of our top picks for the Wilmington area.

"Okay but small"

This is the first Best Western we have ever stayed in. Chose it because it was close to a wedding venue we were attending. First impression of the room....small. The smallness made it difficult to have more than one person walking in the room. Also, the smallness of the bathroom was difficult. If one were sitting on the toilet and tried to close the bathroom door, there was not enough room....so close the door before you sit. :) The ceiling in our shower had been repaired but the sheetrock was not complete and it was awful looking. The sink and mirror are outside of the bathroom. My personal preference is to have the sink in the bathroom, so I did not like that at all !! I thought the room was very clean until I needed a tissue. As, I pulled the tissue box off of the shelf, I was grossed out. An old, old dried out coffee filter, some other trash and bobby pins were in the box! We were on the second floor which was very noisy from the floor above. We addressed that to one of the attendants and by bedtime it had quietened down on the third floor. Beds were comfortable. AC worked fine.There was a wall outlet that had been pulled away from the wall which could have been a safety danger to a small child. The swimming pool area was clean but looked old around the top. So...there were a few problems but nothing major. I would recommend they fix the bathroom ceiling and make sure ALL areas are clean and presentable. Visitors to hotels notice all areas....so make sure the housekeeping department makes everything shine!

The hotel was pretty good everything was clean the only thing was the woman at the front desk when your checking in. She really looked like she did not like her job since she gave us this fake smile. Room was clean and we have stayed here multiple times, However, this time we awoke in the morning to several baby roaches in the bathroom and tv area several of which ran up and into the light fixture on the desk before we could kill them. We reported to front desk and I believe they will handle it but this was a first for us and kind of gross.

When we first got to the hotel we was greater nicely. But before checking in my husband asked if they ever had a problem with bed bugs or had a problem with bed bug the clerk said no. So we proceeded to check in, As well as my mother and brother. In my mother's room the air didn't work and there was mildew on the curtains. In my children's room my daughter found and killed a bed bug crawling on her bed. To make a long story short the clerk lied to us about the hotel and we could leave due to everyone else including me would have lost our money due to he wouldn't give a refund on our room. He did give us our money back for the room that we found the bug in. I will never stay here again.

I apologize you did not enjoy your stay at our hotel. Unfortunately, as we were sold out that weekend, we did not have the option of moving you every time one of your guests registered a complaint. We did provide a 100 percent refund for the room in which you found a bug, and provided a 20 percent refund on the room in which the air conditioning was not up to par. However, despite your requests, we were not able to give you all four rooms for free, especially since no issues were brought to our attention until the end of the day after your party had used the rooms, the pool and the hotel's other amenities. We are sorry you are dissatisfied with this resolution and wish you the best of luck in your future travels.

Reception was very pleasant when I first checked it all was well for the first day. next day, i used the microwave and without noticing the refrigerator stopped working so my insulin was not refrigerated and frozen foods thawed out. I let the reception know and they had me store my stuff in their refrigerator downstairs. The following evening after work, the refrigerator still wasn't working and no one had come to see the problem, So i complained again and they acted indifferent and non caring. I figured out that to many things were plugged into that wall,so I moved the microwave to another outlet on opposite wall and it worked fine until the end of my stay. My other complaint is the constant smell of stale food/cooking in the hallways.

"Clean rooms, poor service"

A 2 bed room was reserved. Upon arriving we were advised at the desk that the reservation did not "take" and only king rooms were available. We took it because at that point we had little choice. There was a jacuzzi in the room and we were looking forward to enjoying it after a long day, but of course, the jets were broken.... I understand that not everything can be perfect, my complaint is mainly with the fact managment did not seem interested in customer service at all. Repeated phone calls to the hotel resulted in getting hung up on or getting sent to voicemail without a returned phone call. I was hoping to give the hotel another try as i was going to be in the area again and be able to give a positive review, that obviously won't be happening.

The desk clerks Mike and Keisha the best they were attentive and caring to my needs. I didn't feel like I was a burden and just another guest it's like they actually cared about every word I spoke and done an excellent job in providing the best services I've ever experienced.This Inn is deffeneatly top of the line. "Nice Hotel but Not Sure Management Exists?"

We stayed for two nights to celebrate our anniversary. We have stayed at this property before and had a great experience. This time unfortunately we had severe issues with hot water access that prevented us from being able to use the in-room jacuzzi tub and at one point we lost complete access to hot water for several hours. We reported the issues multiple times and were told that "management" would get back to us. It is now 24 hours after check-out and I am still waiting for a response from management. At no time did the staff of the hotel check on our issues or inform us of the emergency maintence that occurred only after we inquired several times. The wifi access was also poor in our room. It is a nice hotel with a good location but there is no excuse for the absent management of this property. I will not return.

The hotel was excellent, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms were very nice and had everything we waned and needed. The pool was lovely and so was the hot tub. They had fitness facilities that were excellent. It was a very pleasant stay and we will probably stay there again soon.

We had to fly in for a funeral. The hotel staff was very friendly and super helpful! We dealt mainly with Destiny and Mike at the front desk, and anything we needed they provided right away. I was very pleasantly pleased with the quality of this Best Western, it was not what I expected, and I would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel in the middle of everything. The gem of this hotel is Destiny at the front desk. Cheerful greeting, bent over backwards helping us find some attractions we were interested in. I saw her offer to help a couple get their items up to their room. She really went above and beyond. Destiny is bringing customer service back in a big way!

We have stayed at BW Plus several times over the last three years. We have always had a great experience but this time we noticed some things different. The pool water was very cold; we were told that they were having problems with the heat serving the pool; it was very cold within the pool area. We did notify the front desk and they promptly tried to address these two issues. My elderly mother-in-law stayed for the first time in a handicap room and enjoyed her stay very much. The room met her needs. I want to commend and say we appreciate the honesty of the staff. A pair of diamond earrings were left on the nightstand in one of our rooms. After being on the road for two hours, we discovered our mistake of leaving them. We immediately called and the clerk or housekeeping located them in the room. We appreciate the honesty of the employees. Sincerely, a returning customer.

The room was a bit small but nice enough. Quite a lot of noise with the guests overhead however. Room decor was pleasant. Indoor pool is just for wading and soaking as it is quite small and shallow. Our refrigerator was missing one leg and thus rocked back and forth. Overall the room was nice, the property well kept and pleasant but it is not nicer than other properties that are lower cost in the area.

Great place to stay if you want to check out the 3 beaches in Wilmington since this hotel is about 15 min from each beach. Also near the riverwalk...perfect location to do all. Includes continental breakfast which is always a plus. Helpful staff as well.

I stayed in a room on the side facing away from traffic and I heard none. The room and facility are in excellent shape. Breakfast was adequate with many options. Internet access was reliable until the password changed. Had difficulty with a solid connection after that. Two concerns that prevent a higher rating: (1) inoperable lock on rear doors that are intended to automatically activate at 9 pm. This allowed anyone to enter the property at will without detection. (2) computers in the business center are not set up correctly. One is connected to the Internet, but not to a printer. The other is connected to a printer, but not the Internet. It would be impossible to print a boarding pass. I would stay here again when these issues are corrected.

Staff was friendly and smiled when we walked in the door. Was confused about parking and entrances, but no big deal. Found a small roach on corner of whirlpool tub but didn't make a fuss because I only saw that one. Will return with pleasure.

Room had jacuzzi (did not want), our room was already taken when we arrived, made on-line reservations, bathroom light broke, had to move us to another room, sister's room smelled of smoke, awful! The second room did not smell clean.

I booked my mother in the hotel for a couple nights when she came into town. She fell off the bed and was unable to get herself back up. The front desk manager was extremely helpful and concerned. She went out of her way to help me get into the room and make sure my mom was okay. All was good, but could have been worse. This hotel staff really went above and beyond and I'm very grateful.

Location is excellent--about halfway between Wilmington's historic downtown and Carolina Beach, so you're not paying a premium price for either. Front desk staff was very nice, friendly and eager to please. Our room was squeaky clean and well designed--the sink was in a separate location from the shower and toilet so two people could perform their morning or evening chores simultaneously. Good breakfast--eggs and sausage in addition to the usual waffles and cereal. And the wi-fi functioned flawlessly and was very fast. Saw several families there--and they must have liked the indoor pool because it was busy, even in January. Best of all, with a coupon (and we were off season) the price was very reasonable.

Staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. Free breakfast in the morning was not only convenient, but delicious as well. Indoor pool was a plus. Room and restroom were well kept and clean. The only bad thing I'd have to say is that it's bathroom amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were low upon check in. Other than that, our stay was quite enjoyable.

Had no HOT water for a shower no soap ,no conditioner , very little shampoo just not what I would expect. staff not very familiar with restaurants around the hotel. Manager told me he could not help me with my problems with the rooms, was moved to different rooms, but none were any better still not stocked properly, Mananager didn't seem to care about my problems with my stay.

Very nice hotel with personable staff. The staff assisted my family in a timely manner with television issues and requests for extra pillows and toiletries. FYI- the swimming pool has salt water in it and causes extreme burning to the eyes.

Great location and beautiful view! Spend a bit more to get the view of the river for a breathtaking sunset. The staff were friendly. The breakfast is a bit more than standard and gets the job done. Conveniently located next to the visitors center and a 5 minute walk from downtown.

The place is great unless you are snooty. Rooms are clean, well stocked, loaded amenities for a price concious traveler. The customer service is awesome, well lit, smells good, breakfast, indoor pool, etc... do you need more?!...ok... close to carolina beach, gas, fire department, post office, good restaurants (cape fear seafood!) And easy city access. First time in 8 years I decided to tell my wife to go 4ork herself and figured I would go take a mini vacation. Thanks Best Western!

This Best Western is where I always stay when in Wilmington. The staff is wonderful and the breakfast is more than just continental. You can make your own waffles and there are little egg omelets. the pool is very nice and the hot tub is clean.

"New Christmas Tradition"

I lost my mom last year and I'm still looking for ways to fill the void during the holiday season. I decided to take my niece and nephew on a "sleepover" so my brother and his wife could have a night to finish last minute Christmas items. This hotel's location was perfect because we were only 5 minutes from my brother's house. The hotel staff was very friendly, the room was nice and clean, and the breakfast was perfect for the kids, since I woke up to my 4-year old nephew staring me in the face saying, "I want to eat breakfast." I believe we've started a new Christmas tradition. The only reason I didn't give an excellent rating was that the refrigerator in the room was loud and we had to turn it off in order to sleep.

This hotel is definitely in the top of hotels in this area. The rooms were clean and very inviting. They have an inside heated pool that is very clean and also has a lift assistance chair for people who need assistance getting in and out of the pool (what an added bonus)!! The hotel is in a great location for shopping, beaches and any restaurant you might want!! Breakfast was great!! Anything you might want was there!! The staff was very friendly and always smiling (you don't see that anymore)!!

Very friendly staff. Nice room and ice machine on the floor I was staying at. Pool was nice. Close to places to eat at huge intersection. Close enough and far enough away from the beach. Breakfast was great...lots of choices and nice seating area. Very happy with stay and will stay again.

We were lucky enough to stay between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the manager decorated and it looked very festive and fun!!! The staff is just wonderful and they'll do anything for you!!! Our room was so nice and the manager spoiled us. This hotel is just beautiful. The pool is inside and I really wish I would have brought my bathing suit. I was very happy with our stay.

Have stayed here over a half dozen times and have never been disappointed. Always very clean with friendly competent staff. Can be pricey in peak summer season, but a bargain off season. Nice variety at breakfast, always plenty of food and very friendly helpful staff.

"Thanksgiving weekend"

We decided to reserve at this hotel, because it is really close to our children house, that way we can spend the Thanksgiving weekend we our children and grandkids. The hotel is very clean, staff was amazing, location a plus for us, breakfast really good, we stay 3 nights, but the cleaning staff were knocking at our door every day at 9:30 am, even when we had the "please do not disturb" sign and the check out is at 11:00 am, please the reason we stay in a hotel was to have a little privacy and to avoid the early wake-up from our grandkids.

We didn't have reservations and showed up around 8 pm. The man at the front desk was friendly and fast. I just wanted a bed but got so much more. The room was beautiful. The shower had everything I forgot i.e. conditioner. I've got my hotel for my spontaneous beach trips.

We had a very nice weekend at the Beach and the hotel was an added bonus. We really enjoyed the indoor pool and whirlpool. The cleanliness and service were excellent. We would recommend it to our friends.

I like this hotel because it is close to my children who live in Wilmington NC it is very clean and the staff are very helpful with check in and with letting you know about the free breakfast and coffee in the loby

We have used this hotel several times while working at the port and they have been extremely helpful on each trip! We will surly continue to stay there. The breakfast is good and the area is kept clean.The coffee is extremely tasty also. Would definatly recommend this hotel to anyone!!

"Amazing Desk Clerk"

Stayed for long weekend while kid s were on fall break. Hotel ad just switched to different TV provider and was experiencing periodic outages. The young lady at the front desk was amazing. She was treated very badly by some very rude customers because of the outages. She stayed professional and did everything in her power to correct the problem. The problem was corrected later that day. I was amazed with this young lady.....the smile never left her face. This was my second stay at this hotel and wish they had never downsized to double beds.

Nice quiet clean hotel. - points for unsecured back foot & sandpaperish towels. Other than that. I'd stay again and indeed I may. The beds and pillows were nice and I noticed a in room safe. Nice. The pool looked very inviting but I didn't take advantage of it. TV need plugged in but hey no biggie. I worked for me. I will be back with company and see what she think.

Had a one day stay at this hotel and I really enjoyed it. Very nice for a Best Western. Clean, modern, and the staff was attentive and professional. My room was great. It had a large jacuzzi tub and I made good use of it after a long day of cycling. I would definitely recommend.

Nice lobby, super clean. great pool, awesome people. I would stay there again and recommend to friends. I don't spend much time at the hotel, so I want to spend the least money, but I also don't want a flea bag hotel. This hotel was super clean and a great value!!

"They will try to over charge given half a chance."

Watch your bank account closely. Over a period of 4 days after check out I was charged on my bank account for 12 times. I paid for one night with cash. Staff was very unhelpful in resolving the issue. In fact they kept trying to charge my bank account so much I had to close my account. I had to threaten with a call to BBB and Dept. of consumer affairs and fraud to get any help resolving the issue.

As soon as you pointed out the duplicate charges on your account we immediately faxed a letter to your bank asking them to remove all charges and holds from Best Western. When your bank mistakenly reinstated those charges the following day, we again contacted them on your behalf to get the charges removed. We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting friends who had moved to Wilmington. It is an excellent value, good location, very clean and friendly helpful staff. I would highly recommend it to both family and friends. We did tell the friends we visited how nice it was and that they could recommend it to others who come to see them.

Great place to stay.Very friendly and rooms are very clean.Nice pool..and work out room.Very close to eating places and to the beach.Shopping is in wilimington which is about 10 to 15 minutes away....

Nice accommodations, amenities, and breakfast. Multiple entrances make it easy to get to the rooms. Lot of luggage carts. A beautiful pool and a great location with a easy drive to the beaches. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and helpful...especially Bianca at the front desk! The only drawback...and this certainly isn't the fault of the hotel, was the weird road layout. There were several restaurants right across the road, but you had to drive nearly a mile to get to them. There are no crosswalks in sight and the hotel is located on a two lane service road right next to a divided 4-lane highway. Weird!

The Lobby was nice and clean, check in only took couple of minutes. My first impression when I entered the room was how good it smelled. The room was spacious clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Overall great place to stay.

We stay here when visiting husband's 103-year old mother. The motel is clean and comfortable, the staff is always friendly and the breakfast option makes it possible to spend more time with family and less "eating out".

My kids loved the breakfast and indoor pool. I loved the hot tub and gym that's open 24hrs. The staff was wonderful. So friendly. This is a very kid friendly hotel. Definitely worth every dollar. Can't wait to go back!
