Don't stay at this property - terrible management Homophobic treatment from the very start. The second I mentioned my partner and I, the demeanour changed. At no time did the staff mention to me that there would be a $40 pet fee (I called a week earlier), I also requested a larger bed for my partner and I, and immediately the manager said that's an additional $140. I had sent the request in a week earlier and they indicated that they responded but their response was that they were available but to update the request online. I requested a refund based on this new information and the manager, said no problem, just request it from Expedia. Expedia called them 30 minutes after to request a return and the manager flatly refused and took my money. I took the time to write him a letter and NO response. Unprofessional and unethical hotel. I plan on escalating to Best Western, as I have been a good client for years. The experience was disrespectful. I would never stay there. Don't waste your money.
I would definitely not recommend. This property is not ready for guests. The listing said onsite parking, lakeside view room, and breakfast. The parking was 2.5 blocks away and we got a parking ticket which we had to hassle with management to pay before we left town. The view from our room was a parking lot. The breakfast was one yogurt and a couple muffins laid out. The presumed person in charge at checkin was extremely unfriendly. The person who checked us out was not knowledgeable and had very poor hygiene. The hotel is undergoing renovations and may be decent when complete, but staffing seems to be a concern long-term.
Pictures from the website are real but the experience is different. This location is still being developed and has a ways to get there. Our room was dorm size and very small, a lot smaller than expected. You can see the water from the side, but not directly facing - which i believe is the case in most rooms. There were no soaps/shampoo supplied, nor was there any breakfast available. Upon checkout we were told we would receive a breakfast basket with muffins but did not. The elevator and the front desk are separated by stairs, so i am not sure how this would ever be AODA compliant, but definitely challenging for those with mobility issues. The general area seems to also have some challenges with homelessness. Perhaps once Best Western takes over they will be addressing some if the short comings, but for now this is still a work in progress.
Very much enjoyed my stay here. The room was totally full of character, but still very comfortable, as a hotel room should be. But the added touch of a wall mural and various artistic touches made e enjoy my stay even longer. Bed was comfy, partial view of the waterfront. Would stay here again for sure. If I had to say anything negative, there was no real breakfast, though there were small bags prepared with a juice, muffin and yogurt for anybody who wanted one. But don't count on a full breakfast. Also noticed no recycling in my room, just a garbage. But neither of these should be enough to deter you from experiencing a very unique and comfortable room.
