« The loudest hotel ever »

We should have gotten suspicious when they handed out ear plugs at the check in. The hotel is right next to a very busy freight yard and it sounds as if the trains are going right through the property. Too bad we arrived after sunset and did not see the train yard. The overall location is a bit creepy. Though the hotel was clean and the breakfast good, the noise was just a complete throw off. The hotel is dog-friendly and has a fenced in dog area, BUT the fence had huge holes, the grass was non-existent and there was dog poop all over the place.

    « Wonderful »

Next door to best Sushi place around is reason we always stay here. Convenient and good clean place. Better than average hot breakfast. Train across street, but get room away from front street it is no problem.

    « Home to Texas »

Last motel with a room available at 11pm. At least the room was clean and the beds past our picky tests. Was upstairs which were a pain with the luggage. And it was close to the freeway and Starbucks.

    « Simple and Comfortable »

This hotel was clean and comfortable. It was also walking distance to downtown. The room was large. The staff was courteous and helpful. The only complaint I would have is that at breakfast, the only egg choice had cheese in it, so for those of us who cannot have cheese, the selection was limited.

« Average Room - smelt like smoke »

HAD TO CHANGE ROOMS BECAUSE OF THE SMOKE ODOR. The second room also smelt like smoke but we were tired of travelling and didn't feel like moving again. I would rather drink out of glasses and glass mugs not Styrofoam and plastic

« Good stay at the mountain Inn »

Check in was slow as the lady at the desk struggled with her computer. The room itself was clean and had all the features we needed. My 88 year old mother really appreciated the walk-in shower. Breakfast had a nice selection of items.

    « Great Accessible Room »

Our double queen, accessible, smoking room was perfect. It is so very hard to find a room that has everything like this one did. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, the breakfast was better than most. We had no issues AT ALL with reservations, check-in, our stay or check-out. Highly recommend this place. And yes-you do hear noise from the trains, but most motels in this town are on the same street and the train tracks run parallel to the street so all get the same amount of train noise but some charge much more.

    « no title »

very nice room, breakfast was alright.looks like this was another property at one time.stayed at the sister property previously and it was a bit better.wasnot as easy to find off the highway as it could have been.

« Began to unpack and then left. »

Upon check in, were assigned an upstairs room. After that, found that there is no elevator, only open stairs. Began pulling our luggage up the stairs. I turned on the air conditioner, and it immediately smelled musty and moldy. Once the lights were on we realized the room was not that clean and very dated. We lugged our bags back downstairs, and checked out. The clerk was very helpful.

    « Bad place »

Worst Best Western I've ever stayed at. Lady at front desk struggled with English and was eating while I tried to talk to her which made it impossible to understand her. Breakfast was not bad. This place is like an old Motel 6 that Best Western put it's name on!

    « Cute and Handy »

Nice and clean for 1 or 2 night stay. Conveniently located close to the freeway but right next to another Best Western. The room was large but missed a table - not able to do paper work. The decor was fine and room was clean.

    « bait and switch »

Called for rate on a room. Told them I was working at the nearby State Prison. They told me they could extend the Govt rate of $90.00 a night to me. I have stayed there several times in the last few months and always got this rate. Got there and they wouldn't honor the rate they quoted. Stayed at an another hotel for the night. Yoly at the front desk was terrible to deal with.

    « Nice Place »

A very friendly staff, it was easy check-in and check-out. The breakfast was nice, the food was fresh , the rooms was clean and well maintained. The mini fridge worked well. I had no complaints what so ever.

« A noisy run-down place to sleep for the night »

The noise from the train across the street, in addition to the noise from the staff and other guests walking outside (and upstairs) make me glad I brought my earplugs. The room was a bit shabby, but clean. But the big issue was that they gave a stranger a cardkey to our room. We were getting ready for bed when we heard the door unlock, and another guest walked in. She was as surprised as we were. Fortunately, we were in the room, or the person could have come in and taken our stuff. When we called the front desk to complain, they tried to blame it on us, like we had left the door unlocked. Which is not possible, as they well know. No apology for making the mistake, no offer to make it up to us, or fix the problem. So if you stay here, don't leave the room unattended, and keep the door locked and bolted.

    « Very nice... »

Stayed here travelling after visiting 6Flags. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was a decent size and well looked after. Breakfast was great with choice of cereals, waffles, breads etc. Decent wifi also. Parking wasn't an issue and plenty of food outlets nearby...

    « Would return »

We visited in Aug.2016. I booked online for a rate of $89 for a double queen room. It says on tripadvisor that the hotel is under construction but we didn't see any construction happening at all. We arrived in town at about 2:00. Checkin is at 3:00 but I thought I would just check and see if we could get in early. Front desk girls were very friendly and chatty. Lucky us, our room was ready. I wanted to pay cash at check out and was able to pay right then with no hassle and no hold on my credit card which I appreciated. Room was on the ground floor and we were able to park in front of our door which was so handy. I was a bit worried that there would be noise from upstairs neighbours but there wasn't any. Room smelled fresh and clean when we opened the door. Just a word about the door, there definitely needs to be some service work done to the doors. We had to kind of throw our bodies into it to get it open and closed. The doors had to be slammed shut in order to have them fully close. Not a big deal in the daytime but when your next door neighbour arrives at 1:00am and they are in and out of their room 20 times slamming the door each time, it gets old fast. Room was large and clean. There was a microwave and a fridge - fridge wasn't turned on. There was a table with 2 arm chairs and the fabric was clean. I am sure this was a recently refurbished room. The room had laminate flooring which looked nice but made the room echoey and left our feet black. An old A/C but provided great white noise. There is no bathtub in this room, just a stand up shower - it was good, lots of pressure and hot water. Bathroom was clean. Huge mirrored closet. I did laundry at this motel. Be advised, there is only 1 washer and 1 dryer. they cost $2.00 each. As in other reviews, there are alot of trains that run through this town but we didn't hear them in our room at all. There was a connecting room door to our room which was a noisy when the 1am people arrived. They decided to run an airmattress pump right on the other side of the door at about 2am. No fault of the motel but I was furious. Next time I would ask for a room that did not have a connecting door. Breakfast was a regular continental served on styrofoam china, I did not like this, but it was a decent breakfast with hot and cold items. We would stay again at this property for an overnight stay.

    « Horrible manager »

Go next door to 420 building or across the street. Manager is horrible. No hospitality at all. Not worth the headache, the hotel is not worth the price either. Specially when the staff next door is so helpful and always goes out their way to be customer service oriented.

    « Business stay »

Rooms clean & comfortable. I have stayed here on many trips. Also have employees stay here and have never had a problem in 3 years. Staff is always helpful & friendly. I would also recommend for families staying in the area.

    « Lovely Place »

Our stay was not under the best circumstances however the staff at the hotel was great. They took really good care of us. The only issues we had were concerning billing after we left. The manager we spoke with was not very willing to listen to the issue or help. It resulted in me being frustrated and having to use outside avenues for help. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here during your trip.

Not a great experience at this property. Reception staff were very good. We were given a room that had an adjoining room and we could hear every word from the people in the adjoining room. We requested to change rooms and no problem in moving us. The rooms re smaller than average for BW hotels.

« Good place and good price »

Needed to find a hotel in the area for one night. This was a good hotel with a good price. I was initially worried that the hotel would be bad because of the reasonable price, but was very happy with our experience. Basic room (no frills) but was clean and comfortable. Considering the price we were very pleased with the breakfast. Staff were friendly.

    « Real southern bbq »

Love love love this place, amazing food and people i cant say enough wonderful things about red house. You must try it for yourself and see. I always get spicy beans and the half of chicken. Youre welcome !

« Good room with free parking »

Stopped here just one night on route from the Sequoia National Park to Death Valley. Ideal hotel, room large with all amenites, free breakfast and free parking, only problem fridge was not cold, which for one night was not a problem. The small town was in easy walking distance and had a few shops and places to eat, although we arrived early evening so much was closed, we did find a small, from the outside, but huge inside diner in a back street busy with locals and the best value for money food, unfortunately I cant remember its name. Nice murals on the walls in the town. Great little place for a stop over. The hotel was used by a lot of walkers heading to the mountains.

« Another "great stay" at the BW in Tehachapi »

Despite the fact that there is another BW right next door, plus other lodging alternatives too, this place has always continued to be "first in my book" for exactly where both myself and others too should stay !!

« Dirty place must see !! MORTIFYING SHOOK!! »

Me and my family planed to stay here for 1 night there was a stench coming from the bathroom dirty hairs surrounding the plug hole thought nothing off it when we decided to go for a swim both pools were GREEN they haven't shown the dirty pool in the pictures DISGUSTING also there was ants all over the bed

« Expected better for the price »

This is one of those places that refuses to let anybody check-in until exactly 3pm when all of the rooms suddenly magically become ready at once. Bad start. After a very slow check-in process I finally found my room at the back of the property, up a separate staircase to the other second floor rooms. Lifted the toilet lid to find a bowl of black water. Flushed that away but was left with a black ring where it had presumably sat for quite some time. Sign at reception and on the fridge itself warned that the fridge needed to be turned on but no hints on how to do so. Eventually, after manhandling the heavy fridge out of its cosy alcove, I found the dial on the back of the fridge. Make sure you are either strong enough to maneuver the fridge or have incredibly slender arms in order to get to the dial. Saves power for sure but hardly guest friendly to require such feats. Other than that the room was okay.with a reasonably comfortable bed with 4 pillows, plenty of towels, a microwave, the aforementioned fridge, and a coffee maker. Swimming pool was small and a pleasant temperature; the jacuzzi hot. Some restaurants and K-mart are within walking distance. Breakfast was a typical US motel breakfast with hot scrambled egg and sausage patties, cold gravy, cereal, bread for toasting, juices, yoghurt, coffee, and probably more I've forgotten. While checking out I told the receptionist about the black water in the toilet. No reaction, no apology, no thanks, just a "I'll tell the girls". For $109 I expected better. Spend another $20 and go next door to the "other" Best Western (a hotel).

    « Sedona Trip »

Stayed here on our way from SF to Sedona. We have a dog, so needed a pet friendly room. The hotel was fine, but the bed was hard. Don't know if I screwed up my reservation or the hotel did, but ended up with a smoking pet room. It was clean and worked, but the odor was a bit strong. Maybe I should travel with a scented candle or other odor eliminator.

« Ants in our Room »

Ants were all over our room and we were still charged for the night. The lady at the front was incredibly rude. Never ever again would I stay here. Waste of my hard earned money and exhausted from driving home so late with kids in the car due to ants in our bed. Disgusting!

    « Not a good experience »

Check in time 3pm, wasn't able to get into room until 4:30pm. Looks like they cater to smokers, front desk staff needs better manners and training in assisting customers, CUSTOMERS ARE #!1, not the staff. Make sure you don't have a non-smoking room near or next door to a designated smoking area,

    « Mountain Inn review »

I travel to Tehachapi often and usually stay at the La Quinta Inn. It was booked so I had to get a room at the Mountain Inn. First night; Room was not fully cleaned but ok. Shower pressure and temperature were low. Second night I returned to find the the cleaning staff had thrown out an expensive bottle of wine I'd left out for my second night as well some of my toiletries if left out. No apologies from the staff, all they said was the cleaning crew never take anything. Well that wasn't true. The next morning I woke up and realized there was no coffee for the in room coffee. Went down to the breakfast room and it was out of coffee. So I had to wait a bit to get someone to bring out more. Overall I'd say my stay was not nearly as good as my previous experience with the nearby La Quinta Inn.

    « Nice Stay »

We stayed here on our drive to Colorado, Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. It's a great place for pets and the room was very pet friendly and spacious. Would definitely stay there again.

« If you are in to Trains »

Tehachapi is the railroad capitol of the world. Watching trains slug it over the steep mountain pass and circling itself over Tehachapi Loop is the primary reason we stay at this location. The place is clean, the breakfast is gret and the tracks are across the street. Pool and hot tub as well. Check it out

    « Poorly run hotel »

I had booked a ground floor room. Upon arrival I was rudely told there was none and that's the way it was. The room door was stuck and I had to put my shoulder to it to get it open. At breakfast, most of the food was gone and the area was a mess. Hotel just was not up to best western standards.

    « A basic property »

This is a good basic motel. Don't get excited-it's just a place to stay. It beats staying in your car. It has ice and a basic breakfast. The front desk staff was nice. It's centrally located. The parking is free but very tight.

« Over Priced and No Pet Area »

Bed was too soft. I stayed in downstairs room because of my dog. Dude in room above me spent a lot of time stomping around his room, then in the early am dragged his luggage down the steps ( one bump at a time )

    « Lodging »

Clean, comfortable accommodations. We stay at this location any time we are in the Tehachapi area. The facility is easy to locate and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. The front desk offered dining tips on the various restaurants in Tehachapi. Parking was right at our door. The continental breakfast was presented in the lobby area with plenty of offerings.

« Decent Stopover in a Nice Town »

Tehachapi is one of the nicer places to spend the night en route to Death Valley or Las Vegas. The Mountain Inn is centrally located for restaurants and shops and has plenty parking. The rooms on the ground floor can be dark, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom functioned normally. The breakfast room is tiny, so there is not always room; the food on offer is standard budget fare - OK to get you started, but not a real breakfast.

« Good breakfast, good rooms »

Staff was friendly, room was clean, shower was hot and had good pressure, breakfast was yummy and full; sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc. (Not just carbs). Price was affordable for a night's stay at 3rd party vendor site.

    « Stopover »

We always stay here on our way to the southwest. They take pets, are clean and have breakfast if you want. The trains are close but they don't bother us. I think you would hear them anyplace. This trip we had a gear meal at Paccino's. Great service, great food.

« Perfect stop over before death valley »

We needed a place to sleep between Sequoia and Death Valley. This place was perfect for our family. The wife really appreciated the laminate floors and the breakfast was better than usual for continental ones.

« Good place to stay in Tehachapi »

We stumbled upon the Best Western Mountain Inn when passing through Tehachapi. The staff was pleasant, the room was clean/comfortable, the price was fair, and the breakfast was good - all in all, this was a great place to stay.

    « Above average...Average »

Average bed, average cleanliness...just average. The staff was cordial and pleasant. Decor predictable. Breakfast lacked originality; just the same old food. Dry cereal, packaged rolls, milk, orange juice, coffee. Did have eggs and gravy that some budget motels do not serve. Dining area small. Interior parking area...IMPOSSIBLE. Very tight with very small spaces in an interior quadrangle surrounded by the building. Area of confusion: there are two different Best Western affiliated motels side by side. Remember where you placed you reservation.

« Comfortable room Friendly and helpful staff. »

The staff is always friendly and very helpfull. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast. Have stayed he on several occasions. I would recommend this to anyone staying tin the Tehachapi area.

« Perfect for an overnight stop »

My son and I stayed one night on a winter drive to Las Vegas. I booked my reservation online. We pulled in around 8pm. Check-in was quick and easy. The room was plenty big, had two comfy beds and updated decor. I liked the fact that that there was no carpet! Nothing fancy but perfectly nice for the price. We had no issues with the wireless and noise was minimal. We were a tad late for breakfast (it ended at 9am) but there was enough left for us to get a plate of eggs and sausage. I was thankful for that.

    « A Little Better Than Average »

We stayed here for one night on the way home from an AZ trip and found this place to be useful for a nights rest. The room was clean, the bed comfy, the breakfast well done and the motel quiet enough for a good nights sleep despite train tracks across the street. One issue we had was that it was very cold the night we stayed, 23 deg., and the below the window heater/cooler had trouble keeping the room the right temp. We couldn't get the unit to adjust properly and it either ran hot or not, no in between, which meant getting up a few times during the night to turn the heater on and off to keep the chill off the room. Another small problem was the remote batteries went dead and we didn't feel like braving the cold to go get fresh ones from the desk so just dealt with it. All in all not a bad nights stay and the good breakfast helped us get on the road early the next morning.

    « Basic motel »

We have been staying at this motel for many years. It is not the fanciest, but we only need a place to sleep while visiting nearby relatives. If I wanted better amenities, I would stay at the next door Best Western.

    « Clean and Reasonable »

The price was right for this conveniently located motel. It is on the main street in Tehachapi, and nothing takes more than two to three minutes to find from Mountain Inn. Tehachapi is an unpretentious town with very friendly people.

« Another "great stay" at THIS Best Western in Tehachapi »

I've stayed here before, been very satisfied, and shall continue to stay at this particular Best Western facility "up in the mountains and east of Bakersfield - where I live. These visits are all work related and this place is situated perfectly between the downtown area and CCI/T where I am making all of my administrative hearing appearances.

« Not Bad Value For The Price »

This was my first stay ever at a Best Western. I only stayed one night. I like that it was quiet, no doors slamming throughout the night, (which is common with much nicer hotels)and I was able to sleep. A/C worked great, good WiFi, decent water pressure with the showerhead, but ventilation fan was not working properly but I didn't care as that's not a big deal. Although I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of the room, I was very disappointed with seeing stains on all of the towels. They're kind of hard to miss since they are WHITE. Good thing I brought my own. As long as the sheets and bedding are clean I'm happy. They really need to teach the housekeeping staff to throw out the old stained towels and just use them as rags to clean, and replace them with brand new ones. They are not that expensive. I also could not figure out how to plug in the fridge so they need to make that easy for guests as most of us like to keep our bottled water cold. Other than that, no major complaints. I felt the value was very good for the price, my stay was comfortable and enjoyable and I would stay here again.

« not bad despite having the train tracks across the street »

there is a microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator. A roller chair is provided along with a study desk. But, the sofa chair is soiled where the head and feet rests. I would not sit in it. The rest of the room is very clean, I did cringed when I saw the train tracks right across the street from the hotel. The good news: I can barely hear the train in my room. I do not know if I would come back to this town; let alone this hotel.

« Decent room, good hotel »

I stayed here with my two young children on the way from Northern California to Arizona. Timing wise it was the perfect place to stay. My first impression was not that good, but it just got better from there. When we entered our non-smoking room, the room was very warm and it smelled like smoke. However, when we turned the air on, the smell disappeared and the room cooled down nicely. We never noticed the smell again, even after leaving the room and coming back in and it wasn't on any of our clothes or anything. The room had hardwood floors which was nice. The best part of the room was the amazing shower. You just don't find showers like that anymore! The water pressure was incredible! The breakfast was pretty good with bacon, eggs, pancakes, and waffles. I have never stayed here before, but I will again on my next trip to Arizona.

« On our way home »

Room and staff were excellent. Breakfast not so good. We got there at 8:15 and most of the food was gone. I had to ask for creamer for the coffee. Trash was overflowing and no where to put new trash. Guests who came in after us did not find much to eat. What was there was good, but the staff did not check on the supply.

« Great stay ni Tehacapi »

Very nice motel in Tehacahapi. Everything was perfect, very accomodating. Friendly staff, great room - loved the hardwood fllors. We thought it could possibly be a noisy night as there were quite a few construction workers and vehicles, but not worries, it was a quiet location. We could not have been more pleased with our first stay here.

    « Great Stay! »

We were in town for the rodeo since my husband was riding bulls. The hotel was clean, AC blew nice and cold and it was quiet. Beds were comfy except the pillows weren't all that but the sheets smelled nice and clean. I liked the fact it was flooring and not nasty carpet. WiFi connection was strong. Free breakfast in the morning had a nice selection. The hotel is priced well, the Best Western next door looks a little more upscale but for a wkend stay this was perfect for us. Will definelty stay again!
