« Very pleasant short stay with a baby »

The hotel is simple as we knew it would be but very clean and comfortable. We had a wedding in Kawana and decided to stay there with our baby. The porta-cot was already in the spacious room on our arrival. Bathroom very clean and nice shower. The best bed I ever slept on!

    « DONT STAY THERE!!!! »

Wouldn't put this place out if it was on fire. The wait staff are only half trained. Found the reception person on checkout nice until we complained then turned sour. The bathroom is poorly configured. Air conditioning fan very noisy, even on low. Only received coffee pods with our complementary coffee maker on the first night. When the new hospital opens in a few months they are going to have to lift their game considerably as many and varied types of clientele (for the hospital) will use this hotel. Unless they pull their socks up in a few areas I would currently recommend to stay elsewhere.

    « Not for leisure »

While this place would be ideal for visitors to the newly built University Hospital, there are a few things they need to improve on. Breakfast service was appalling, the plated food was great but the continental at $17 really needs to be lifted in choices available. The waitstaff are more suited to maccas or subway as they dont even know whats on their menu! We ordered the full breakfast, bacon, eggs and continental then were told off for helping ourselves! Our 2nd mornings brekky was met with more confusion proving waitstaff dont read their own menu! It clearly states: full breakfast includes continental plus bacon and eggs. On our second morning we had no hot water and were told the pilot light on the roof had gone out. The beds were comfy as! And the waterfall showerhead lovely. Otherwise the double rooms are very small for 2 even though we upgraded to an executive suite. This hotel needs a lot of work regarding staff training and maintenance. We wont be back. Good luck to them when they start to get busy because they had trouble coping with a handful of guests! Not family or even couple friendly!

    « Great room »

Only stayed one night in this modern hotel. Room was great with a massive bed. This is a new area still under development, across the road from the new hospital, so not much to see or do. Nice walk around the lake made it more enjoyable.

« Bang for buck at the Best Western »

Pleasantly surprised. I booked last minute, and check in was breeze. Everything is new, and it isn't cheap or flimsy. It was quiet, comfortable and the staff were polite and organised. Would stay again.

    « Brand new »

A night stay for an art gallery trail, this hotel is quiet, very new & very comfortable. Convenient for travellers heading either way. Our only diappointment was that the female receptionist on checking in was quite abrupt.Could have been friendlier & greeted us with a smile.

« New, Modern, Great room »

We stayed as a last minute night away. Same weekend as the music festival so felt lucky to get a room. I rang direct got a lovely lady who organised the room with no fuss. Arrived a little early, room was ready, and was awesome. Comfy beds, awesome shower (I want one of those shower heads) and all the amenities you need. At this stage it may be a little out of the way for some as development is continuing close by, but it is only a short drive to Caloundra where we spent our time mostly.

    « A great boutique hotel »

Found this hotel online and the price was right so we booked for a Saturday night stay. It's a little out of the way if you're looking for somewhere near the beach, but for our purposes it was fine. Check-in was smooth. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The square rain shower head was great. Breakfast was included in our rate and was one of the better hotel breakfasts we've enjoyed for quite a while. Parking is free but limited undercover so arrive early if you don't fancy leaving your car outdoors overnight. Overall a great stay!

    « Excellent customer service »

Have had to book hotel as undergoing house renovations, was thoroughly impressed with the customer service we received despite being difficult customers in having to check in early and check out late. Have stayed in multiple hotels throughout Australia and abroad, the customer service I received here was in the top percentile. Clean room, comfortable bedding, only room for improvement would be a greater variety of food from the restaurant, however being a new hotel that is understandable. Thank you all!

    « great stop over »

we had a voucher we bought for this hotel and de ided to have three days midweek. its very new but really lovely. its licated across the road from the university hospital and private hospital. they not open until april next year. the hotel istself has a lovely restuarant right by the lake its lovely. from our room we had a lovely view of the water. best beds ever so so comfy. nice spacious room. we would come back.

« Not sure about this one »

Stayed Friday to Sunday and had an executive suite shared with my sister. Bedroom and beds were pretty standard and actually beds were comfortable. Bathroom layout was dreadful though. Fantastic looking massive rain shower head which trickled water out. And toilet was right in front of shower glass partition. Very weird. However breakfast came with room deal so about $540 for 3 nights. Breakfast was really good too with a restaurant overlooking the lake for atmosphere. But restaurant not open on Saturday for lunch. And good eateries about 25 min drive away. So I think on reflection for what we paid we would probably go for somewhere with a few more options close by next time.

Excellent friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Was a bit disappointed with the window being so very small, for the view - we had to get up close, to enjoy the views. Food at the restaurant was excellent

« Great venue for wedding »

Having just stayed at this hotel for a family wedding I must say was the best food we have ever had at a wedding reception. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted Devine. Staff were attentive and venue special. Rooms were modern and luxurious. Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend breakfast. Credit to staff and chef. Highly recommend.

    « Disappointing »

I had high hopes being a newly refurbished hotel. The approach to the hotel was a huge disappointment as well as the the view from the rooms and restaurant because all around is literally a construction site where the wind continually blows up dust. Not inviting. It is located close to nothing except the hospital. No shops, no beach, not even a coffee shop open on Saturday afternoon. I agree the food is overpriced. The continental breakfast did not offer any alternative to cow's milk and only push button coffee for premium price. The room was nice but the bathroom very cramped. A jug of cold water in the fridge would have been welcoming on a hot day, not just the bottled water for sale in the mini bar. And the air conditioning was very noisy.....all night long. A nice a hotel with lovely staff but it gave me no reason to go back or recommend it, unless you were working in the construction site or wanting to stay near the hospital and gaze upon a construction site.

    « A Friend's Invitation »

Our friends invited us for a 3 night stay. The room was very nice but more suitable for dining out. We dined in the restaurant on the ground floor for 2 of the nights and found the meals exceptional. Prices are a little high but the food and service was first class. We will look to dine here again even though travel distance is quite excessive.

    « Kawana! Wow! »

Was not sure what to expect of this motel but it is just lovely. Seems to be in a bit of an awkward position but with the area building up around it, it will be amazing. Very quiet. Close to the new Hospitals to be opened shortly. Very Open plan areas. Lovely grass areas near by. Great Cafe's close by. Will have very nice views once completed. Rooms are a great size. Very clean and well maintained. Small Lobby and lifts but don't let this deter you. Would highly recommend this Motel. One word of advice is that there is no close convenience stores close by to buy any small items, such as water or nibblies. But I'm sure this will change with the progress.

« Hotel is fine, Dining room overpriced an dpoor »

Friendly staff, quality rooms for the price. Air con can be a little tricky to work out. Location is adjacent to the under construction University Hospital. Nothing else much around it at this stage. No night life or beach for tourists. Clean and new. Unfortunately way overpriced dining room and some horrible meals.

« Clean hotel with a great bed »

Hotel room was clean and quiet which was great for a business trip. Bed was very comfortable. Only comment was the inclusion of coffee with breakfast. Was awful to have a coffee from a touch button coffee machine. Had to $6 for 1 regular barista size proper coffee. Also should be more parking available for a hotel of this size. I got the last spot in the hotel, and i arrived at a reasonable hour.

« Best accommodation we have had on Sunshine Coast for a long while. »

This hotel is spotless [as very new], great staff, delicious breakfast, the most comfortable bed I have slept in - including our own! Foxtel TV. Nice toiletries and bathroom facilities. The hotel is in the middle of a big building site - our sat nav had troubles locating but we got there in the end. There is no noise whatsoever from building [new hospital, shops, houses.] Would not hesitate to recommend. The hotel, is however, not really near anything such as the beach, shops, restaurants. Once we worked out how to turn the noisy air con on we resumed our night's sleep. You have to take it off auto!

    « Disappointing and infuriating »

We had been travelling for 3 weeks and as is our practice had picked up various food items that needed refridgeration. As this hotel adverise refridgeration we thought our food would be ok - however the fridge did not work. On complaining to the staff we were told that it was a drinks only fridge and we should have made other arrangements for our food. This must be super technology in refridgeration where a fridge can tell whether it is holding food or drinks. Two points here 1) the fridge did not work and did not do the job advertised it for and consequently we had to throw away our food. 2) We do not appreciate being taken for idiots and/or lied to. There was no hot water the night we stayed and had only a cold shower in the morning. No prior information was given with regard to this problem and no compensation offered. A poor effort by a reputable establishment which charges top dollar and we will not be staying at a Best Western again.

« Nice hotel in a construction area »

New hotel with modern decor and lovely staff - a great asset (well perhaps not 100% of staff . ie the young lady on reception who was put out by us wanting a detailed account prior to paying on "check out" and who never smiled) All other staff were very friendly and helpful. Great chef for our evening meals. Very good meals expecially loved the pavlova dish which is sharable. Restaurant and bar had a view over canal and contruction sites beyond in this brand new suburb springing up before our eyes. Our room which was a good size had window unable to be opened so aircon on all the time which worked well and was regulated by us. No external noise heard in room from close by contruction sites..Free Foxtel movies on large flatscreen TV. Excellent blockout curtains. Bed VERY comfortable. Toilet in bathroom positioned rather strangely. Excellent shower. We chose the hotel as it was close to the tourist sites we wished to visit and we got a great deal in $$$. However, if you are looking for resort facilities this is not for you. Being close to the new hospital in next street due to open next year will be a boon to the hotel. Parking is easy, just outside the entrance.

    « Midweek getaway »

This is a relatively new hotel and my husband and I decided to give it a go and stay for a night. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted at the reception counter, booking in was quick and easy. We were early, but our room was ready, so we could go straight up. The room was lovely, very tastefully decorated and appointed. A king size bed, which was extremely comfortable, and really nice pillows too! Much better than other hotel rooms we've stayed at, it was very big, big enough that we had a chaise lounge and a comfy chair as well as a desk and desk chair, so plenty of room so you don't have to sit just on the bed. The bathroom was great too, with a rain shower head and soft closing toilet suite. Pay tv was included as was free wifi. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and we will definitely be going back again soon. Service, location, ambience, staff all excellent! ????

    « Bad night's 'sleep' »

This was my second stay at this hotel and I stayed for one night; I was in town for work and had a big day the day following my night's stay. The first time I stayed in this hotel I rated it highly but after this stay I would be reluctant to stay here again. I had one of my worst nights in a hotel due to: 1) The bright light on the TV, which I eventually fixed by stumbling out of bed to turn off the TV at the wall 2) The increasingly loud humming sound that the fridge started making after I went to bed. I got up to turn off the fridge at the wall, too 3) The stuffiness of my room. I could not work out why my room was so hot until I eventually phoned Reception. The staff member casually told me that my air con had not been on and that she would turn it on for me (I believe 'on/off' is controlled from Reception and guests can change some settings from their room once it is on). 4) The slamming shut of a door by a guest in a room close to mine at some ungodly hour By the time my air con was turned on I adjusted the fan speed to high as I was so hot and bothered and desperately needing sleep. I got into bed and the fan speed sounded like a hurricane. I gave up on any sleep at all by this time (the bed was also uncomfortable as it formed a small 'tent' shape where the two single mattresses were zipped together) and lay waiting for my alarm to go off at 6.00am. Upon checkout (the staff member looked like a night duty person; I checked out around 7.00am) I wasn't asked a single question about my stay. Disappointing. The positives are the meals in the onsite restaurant and the lake which the hotel overlooks and which affords lovely night strolls.

    « Short break »

Located between Caloundra and Moloolaba, just off the Nicklin Way, BW Plus is well located near the regional University Hospital. Overlooking one of the many canals, it is convenient for those attending events on the Sunshine Coast. Rooms are reasonably sized and well-set-up with kingsize bed; compact yet stylish bathroom; fridge and minibar; tea and coffee facility (first carton of milk provided); large TV (with Fox) and chaise - lounge. Staff are friendly; bar/cafe/dining area and balcony is bright with a pleasant outlook over the canal. Room service is available at designated hours. Parking is free. New coffee shop and out cafes under construction in nearby buildings.

    « Awful experience »

I stayed 10 nights at this hotel and it was not a pleasant stay. The hotel is located in a very remote area; the toilet awkwardly faces the shower glass panel; the air-conditioning fan is loud (even on low); the room ventilation is poor; but worst of all is the housekeeping schedule/service. The hotel advertises a FULL 24 hour service on their home page, yet housekeeping (which is a service) operates at their convenience; they are not there to offer you service; you are there to accommodate them and you are at their mercy subject to their own ridiculous terms if you wanted your room cleaned! Their argument is that this is a small hotel and housekeeping hours change based on occupancy and could finish any time they see fit in the morning! So tough luck if you are sick or jet-lagged and can't wake up early; tough luck if you had the DND sign because you were catching up on your sleep, or because you wanted to be in your room when it is serviced! I was told if I wanted to have service it had to be the latest by 13:30pm, so I called reception at 12:30pm asking for service, ?R" the reception manger said "sure I will tell them", 40 minutes later no one showed up and ?R" did not bother advising me that they were already gone for the day! I expressed my disappointment as the room was not serviced the day before; so "R" and ?L? an extremely conceited, bossy and rude head of housekeeping, showed up at my door with fresh towels. ?L" denied having told me the deadline for cleaning was 13:30 and started giving me lessons about how housekeeping operates in hotels in Australia as if I was coming from some remote undeveloped country and have never been in hotels! She categorically refused to clean, vacuum or dust. I begged her to at least dust, she refused and told me ? there is no one to do so now and I am not your servant?!! it was utterly shocking how she stood there watching me along with ?R" dusting the room myself with a wet face towel!! Dusting a guest's room does not make a housekeeper a servant! dusting is a PAID SERVICE, included in the room rate! And as if ?L's? arrogance was not enough she tried her best to intimidate me and to make me feel as if I am asking too much because according to her I had a linen change I was not entitled to!!!! Which respectable 4-star hotel waits for you to ask for clean sheets on the 6th day of your stay?!! which hotel does not change your sheets at least half way through your stay, without you having to remind them?! which hotel considers you are not entitled to a linen change in such a long stay! This is a HOTEL not a serviced apartment! Later that day, ?S? a receptionist came to replace a bathrobe which was taken with the dirty towels, I wanted her to know what happened and wanted her to see the dirt I found stuck under the coffee maker; I took a tissue and started scrubbing, it was so hard to remove and I ended up cutting my finger because what was there turned out to be not some left over green veggies but sharp pieces of green glass glued to the counter because it has been there for ages. ?S? the receptionist who witnessed the incident helped me clean the wound with antiseptic and gave me a bandage (Thank you!) and "D? from housekeeping had to scrub real hard the next day to remove the mess which tells you how thorough this hotel cleans between guests! I hope reading me the hotel can pay more attention to cleaning and show more flexibility when their guests are sick or jet lagged. Hotel business is a SERVICE oriented business, when there is no service and when you need to clean your room yourself you are better off staying elsewhere. I have moved to another beautiful spic and span clean property on the Sunshine coast and they have daily service until 5 pm :)

    « Classy and Modern »

Fantastic hotel to stay - brand new with modern fit out and large spacious and luxurious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff, nice food in the restaurant and the bed was very comfortable. Also has plenty of parking space for cars/4WDs. Quiet location although still close to shops, attractions and the hospital. I would definately stay again and I highly recommend to anyone else looking for comfortable and peaceful accommodation.

    « top spot »

the room was amazing block out curtains . great sleep in. Nice and close to the shops and and Caloundra centre. The staff were friendly and acommadating. Close to future hospital and in very new canel area would stay there again anytime.

    « Geaat Hotel / Excellent Restaurant »

Stayed for work overnight and had a great experience leading to my intention to return. Rooms are nice but the stand-out is the food in the restaurant. Service, food & location are terrific. This is not a holiday hotel if you expect to be close to the beach but very convenient to the new private & public hospitals

    « Weekend getaway »

Well I booked this on spec from the internet. it's a little in the middle of nowhere, you must have a car. The staff were friendly. The rooms were very good, clean comfortable bed big screen TV. The bathroom layout is awkward though. I felt the breakfast was very lacklustre. there is a choice of 2 things included in the breakfast package, a very basic hot english, or 2 choices from a continental. Included is a single coffee or a juice, not both. Everything is charged as an extra and is certainly not on the cheap side. We didn't dine in the restaurant, but I felt the menu read a little pretentious, and was quite expensive for what it was. Obviously my opinion. Would I stay there again, probably not, it is a little sterile and doesn't have enough facilities, pool, Spa gym, playroom etc.

    « "HIDDEN GEM" »

Because of the location it will be interesting to see what target market will be for this hotel in the near future : business, couples, or people visiting the hospital as I don't think it is suitably for family's (-) in counted a hostile and not friendly female staff member at reception when booking in, there was also another review about this on the 26th May maybe this person needs training in customer relation skills Sealed window in rooms, Curtains backed to front, Toilet to close to shower, coffee cup had coffee stains on it, Drinking glass were also smeary, Hole in the top bed sheet. Meet the Staff in the bar on Wednesday also did not happen ? Most of the above (-) have been reviewed before. (+) The breakfast was a stand out especially the poached eggs and the way the tomatoes where done. Staff in this area were very friendly and also nice to sit out on the deck for breakfast. Raj in reception is a true asset to your company excellent customers skills. Will be back to stay very soon.

    « Stayed 4 Nights. »

We booked on line and the deal was very reasonable, including free breakfast each morning. We ate and drank here several times during our stay and the staff, the service and the quality of the food was fantastic. We would like to especially thank Ashleigh in the restaurant, he was a standout player, in a great team. The king size bed was so comfortable, I'm considering buying one for home ! Thank you for a great stay.

« Excellent Service, Friendly and Comfortable »

Lovely location, very comfortable rooms and great beds. A special mention for Deb who checked us in and catered for our every need with a smile and exceptional service. Breakfast was delicious, compliments to the chefs. Modern decor and very clean.

    « Great, friendly service »

A lovely, clean and welcoming hotel. Perfect location for people participating in rowing events on Lake Kawana. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast downstairs was delicious. The rooms were a good size and the beds were very comfortable.

    « Very comfortable stay »

We didn't book just found this hotel as reviews were excellent, we're in the middle of camping trip. We went to the reception and smoothly booked us in. Had meal at hotel restaurant both 2 nights and that was beautiful?? and delicious?? also friendly waitress who is very switched on?? Very happy stay and will recommend for business stay and holiday stay.

    « New Hotel Brilliant »

This hotel has only been open since November 2015, looks brilliant. Much Impressed. Room was well laid out. Out look was great. 55" TV was fantastic to watch as well. in room coffee was brilliant. Big Shower, with Rain Head.

    « The pre!! »

This is something new for me. A review before I have even visited the hotel! However I had such a positive experience when I rang the hotel to enquire about parking, that I simply HAD to share this with the Trip Advisor community. I found this hotel on and as I am at genius level, the price and conditions of booking were great. However I needed to contact the property to checkout the parking situation. My husband and I are traveling with our VERY expensive mountain bikes as we are going on a long bike ride through the Dularcha National Park on Saturday and needed to know if our bikes would be secure in undercover parking. It must have been my lucky day, as I was assisted by Raj, from reception. This person immediately made me feel comfortable and his customer service skills were spot on. With a very friendly and extremely professional manner, I was informed that although the parking was secure with CCTV cameras, and the reception open 24 hours, the carpark was only partially covered and perhaps I would prefer to lock our bikes in the luggage room inside the hotel! Raj... you made my day. I was not made to feel silly, for being so protective of our bikes, nor was I made to feel as though I was really putting them out. In fact it felt as though Raj felt the way we did about our bikes and was just happy to be keeping them safe. It is worth noting that I had contacted two other properties regarding parking and securing our bikes and neither property could accommodate our needs. I quickly booked our room and am eagerly anticipating our stay. If the rest of our stay is as positive as this first experience, we are in for a real treat!

    « Clean And New »

I guess we went by the pictures on the booking site and didnt look further then that before booking. Im a little disappointed that we didnt get what we were expecting. Our room was tiny faced south, had no verandah and had a sealed window that you had to stand up to see any kind of view. The airconditioning was so loud that you had to turn it off before watching TV or resting. We asked for a room upgrade to get a view or verandah and were told it was going to cost another $80 per night which I felt was a bit over the top. On the plus side, the room was modern, clean and the bed comfy.

    « Package »

Loved this place staff are friendly and funny make you feel welcome right from the start. We where in room 212 lovely view out the window. Just a little negative feed back which I'm sure would be helpful because if we don't say you won't know. The wine glasses in our room where dirty! The stand by light on the TV was like a spot light at night and the room was to warm at night.Last thing better brand of tea would be a good thing! OK back to the positives Bed was very comfortable room was spotless and spacious. Restaurant was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals we requested dessert in our room which was no trouble and WOW desserts where amazing. Breakfast was included in our package husband recommends the omelet with ham and cheese. I had bacon and eggs I cannot have eggs so was offered mushrooms and avocado instead much appreciated. Absolutely enjoyed our stay most relaxing and can not wait for our next visit!

    « Thoroughly disgusted »

I haven't even arrived yet and I am disgusted in there approach to customers. Being a new member to, i thought I tentatively booked accomodation, which I thought would be confirmed by email, (which I actually typed wrong on Bookings.) I check my credit card this morning, they have taken full amount and upon a friendly phone call, they refused refund. I would like confirmation of any booking before I go anywhere thank you. I will not stay with you, if you do not have very good online presence and phone customer service.

    « Overnight Stay »

We have just returned from a trip to Nambour to attend the Queensland Garden Expo. Having invited another couple to attend this year and because of the difficulty to find parking, we drove up the day before to stay overnight at this ' pleasant surprise' of. Hotel. It really deserves 4 and a half stars. The only fault we found is that, currently, it overlooks the construction work on the new University Teaxhing Hospital. The rooms are large, comfortable and spotless. We found the staff at Reception, the Bar and Dining Room friendly and very approachable. Unfortunately, we only had breakfast as we had already booked dinner at a favourite Tavern (the Brightwater) but would definitely dine there when we return. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast of mushrooms on toast and the fruit with yoghurt was beautiful and fresh. I guess if you are visiting the coast for 'sun and surf' though it is sadly a little far from the beach but ideal if passing through the area on other business. It was great value for money and we all thoroughly enjoyed our overnighter!

    « Poor reception »

Average hotel shame about the welcome staff definitely not what I would call 4star. Only thing good about this place was the restaurant and food. Izzy was a sweetheart :) A really big let down ! Other than the restaurant I suggest you book elswhere

    « just so so »

the location is not good, a little far from the town centre but do not have a stunning view worth to stay. Breakfast is with limited choices and the taste is just so so. room is not spacious. staffs were professional.

« Work dinner and drinks »

I visited this new property last Friday night for a work meeting. The service from start to finish was excellent. Friendly and professional staff all willing to make our evening enjoyable. The meals were great and my fish was really tasty. Now, the desserts were simply awesome! Too many restaurants boring dessert menus...well not this place. Chocolate Nemesis and a huge pavlova that was delicious! The rooms were really modern with great artwork. Ask for a room looking over the water for the best views. I'll be back for the dessert alone!

    « AAA+ Hotel »

This is a wonderful hotel which has an easy check-in and check-out and a fantastic restaurant with the most delicious breakfasts. It has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and the furnishings are modern and new. Conveniently located on the Sunshine Coast although you really need a car which we'd hired prior to our visit. Parking is undercover and free. Can't wait to come back and stay here again and thanks for the friendly service!

« Pristine and new in quiet location »

I stayed a few nights at the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel in June and can't wait to return again. The hotel opened in November 2015 and everything is new, immaculate and fresh. With nicely fitted out rooms, and sumptuous cooked breakfasts and exquisite meals on offer, there's a reason to stay indoors. Featuring local produce served for lunch and dinner at the Wildflower Restaurant and Bar on ground level, the hotel also offers canal views and a quiet location. Located in the new Sunshine Coast hospital precinct, the hotel is surrounded by a network of walkways around the waterways. An affordable tariff and free undercover parking adjoining the hotel on ground level adds to the convenience, not to mention, professional and friendly staff only to happy to help with bookings and providing directions. On that note, the hotel was not yet on my sat nav and i found it by following signage - making the stay more private and quiet thanks to minimal traffic.

    « Over Rated »

The value of our room was supposed to be $360 as advertised in our voucher. It certainly was worth no more than the $149 I paid. Was supposed to be a Deluxe king sized pillow top bed room. The bed was king sized but the pillow top was ordinary. The room was obviously designed for a handicapped person in a wheel chair which is fine but I am not handicapped and the bath room was extremely poorly designed for what was supposed to be a deluxe room. There is no vanity unit at all. Just a basin and tap. The shower was not enclosed and open to the bathroom with a small curtain. My advice>>>>>>>>> Take your money somewhere else.

    « Business Trip. »

I travel to the Sunshine Coast often and decided to stay at Best Western as it was close to the office. The hotel is new and is obvious by level of cleanliness and the very very comfortable bed and pillows. ( Slept like a baby ). The staff are very friendly and accommodating. However I must point out few things - there is no food outlets due to the location so you need to go for a drive to find something to eat. There is a restaurant on site with delicious meals but price....$45 for a steak and I do recommend the pavlova.... Yum. I had a few inconveniences of which the staff were apologetic sent me a bottle of wine one evening.... Would I stay there again? Absolutely. It's a new place and I am sure will iron out the small issues.

Dont get me wrong. Its a nice new modern hotel with some great things going for it. just a few littler details needed attention. PRO's: new and fresh at time of writing. Loved the parking being right at the reception doors - most of it under cover. Small reception area but adequate. Lovely staff. Great food in the resturant - above standard. Nice drinking area. Good size bedrooms and terrific blackout curtains. Loved the big (huge) shower cubicals rather than a bath. bathrooms quite modern and well laid out. Love the slow closing toilet seats. Big TV. Comfortable couch along under the window. Easy to find. CON's: Water pressure poor and wouldn't fill up the terrific large sunshower head. hot water slow to come through also. Air con only had cooling - no heating. (cold nights while I was there). tiny soaps but large grill soap holders so soap kept falling through. (poor planning). Would have liked pay-per-view movies. Room noisy with lifts talking most of the night and noisy water pipe to water tank on roof. Given that this hotel is right near the new hospital and ostensibly for stayovers by friends and family, they could spend a lot of time in this hotel so the little details need to be worked out. Its not in walking distance of anything exciting in the area so it needs to cater more for long stays which it 99% does - just little details remain. I would stay there for business trips also.

« Great Value, Great Location »

We stayed in a Deluxe King room at this hotel, which is situated in Bertinya, on the Sunshine Coast. The hotel is only about 6 months old, and everything was in pristine condition. The room was really comfortable, quiet and modern, with a nice size LCD TV and many programs and free Foxtel movies to watch, if that floats your boat. There was only one chair for the desk unit, but a sofa was included in the room. The bathroom was well designed, apart from the toilet being a little too close to the shower glass. At least the toilet paper was in a convenient position. The shower was quite large, with a 'rain-water head'. The wire basket in the shower was entirely unsuited to the hotel-supplied shampoo. The King Size bed was very comfortable and some rooms probably had a good view. The staff were very efficient and friendly, and there was adequate parking, some undercover, in the hotel forecourt. There was quite a bit of construction work going on for the new hospital being built there, but no noise associated with it.

« New resturant to try and a night away »

Got a great price match deal for the room - executive - great welcome from staff. We were advised about the wine down which is Friday evenings 4-6pm lower than normal beer and wine with complimentary canopies - nice surprise. Room clean tidy not to much room especially in the bathroom the position of the toilet means that you have to be very careful when sitting otherwise you WILL bang your head on the glass shower screen (I am not overly large either). The room is advertised as having extras as free in the room like the nepresso coffee machine - you are only allowed ONE pod each - two to the room per service - rather poor I feel, most would definitely have coffee on arrival before freshening up then another in the morning - the other coffee they supply in the sleeve is not at all good. Book dinner for the evening - on the higher end range for dinner - fine dining restaurants - so was expecting great food. Husband had pork belly which was great, ordered with potatoes on recommendation of waitress as small portion - she was correct. I decided to give the truffle sausage dish a try - not so great, it was like a ordinary Cumberland sausage very disappointed - definitely could not get any truffle taste. Desert - decided to share on the recommendation of the waitress, went for the pavlova and it certainly did not disappoint - it was wonderful, from the presentation to the taste. Service throughout the meal was ordinary - you had to ask for water/drinks, plates taken before the parties had completed their meal - an ok meal but for the price I certainly would have expected a lot more

    « Fantastic! »

Stayed here for 3 nights for work which was a 300m walk to the front door of Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The hotel is modern, with all the mod cons including the most amazingly comfortable bed and pillows. I dined each night at the inhouse restaurant which I couldnt fault in quality or price. The service was top notch and wait staff very knowledgeable of their menu. If you don't want to venture out of your room they have room service. I was fortunate enough to be at the hotel for their once a month wine tasting and canapes for guests of the hotel and the public and live solo singer which was a great way to inwind. All in all I rate this hotel up there with best of them. Looking forward to my return visit for work and will definitely recommend to others.

« Very well appointed hotel »

I stayed here for a weekend and wanted to be centrally located on the Sunshine Coast (that is between Maroochydore / Caloundra). The Best Western is a great choice, free parking, good WiFi speed, nice surrounds and well appointed super comfortable rooms. Staff were also very friendly as well. The hotel is closeby the hospital and there are some small cafes / eateries nearby (though they do tend to close early). The hotel is a little far from public transport if you're relying on the bus network though but overall a really great up and coming hotel in an area that will soon be booming. I'd stay here again!

« Great if you want/need to be near the hospital »

This hotel really is very close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital - a couple minutes walk - which if really handy if you need to be nearby. The staff are very friendly and helpful, The bed was large and very comfortable, and the room service very good & quick. The area around is under development, but there is currently not much in the way of shops that you can walk to ( couple small food/coffee places in the next building up). There are plenty of shops though within a fairly short drive. And the hotel does have a restaurant and bar on the ground floor. If you're looking for a hotel on the beach this is not for you. A microwave in the room would be a nice addition.

« Perfect staff, perfect hotel. »

Stayed at this hotel for 10 nights in early May with seven other people. We had a total of three rooms, and each of us has a great stay. The hotel is new, very clean and up-to-date. The staff is attentive and helpful. We ate at the restaurant many times and enjoyed it without fail. Food is fabulous, staff courteous and professional - with just the right amount of friendly banter. If you need a hotel in the area, this is the one for you. The only negative thing I would say is that the location is a bit off the beaten track. You need a car to do anything or even to get a meal somewhere other than the hotel restaurant.

« Good for visiting family... Gorgeous food too. »

Beautiful new hotel in a new developing area, with cafe opening up.... We came here for a wedding (3days) . So it was perfect for us... The hospital is a 2 min walk away if you are visiting people. The breakfasts are amazing, so good we had a 3 course dinner there as well. Will definitely be back!!

« Reception staff need to crack a smile! Cleaners should run the hotel instead »

We found the reception staff to be hostile and not friendly at all. We found the cleaners to be more friendly then the reception staff! Upon arrival we were greeted to a woman behind the desk who didn't even bother to crack a smile. My partner and I felt like we were inconveniencing this woman just to check in. She was blunt, had a bit of an attitude and rushed us through the check in process in under 30 seconds. Upon seeing this woman again the next day behind the desk, she looked up but didn't dare greet us with a hello. My partner said hello, how are you but didn't get a response. As we were checking out, another staff member behind the counter was just as bad. This woman did not ask if we enjoyed our stay, if we would be back. Nothing. We barely got a thank you for staying with us. This hotel obviously doesn't have standards when it comes to customer retention which is a real shame. Nor do they care to make sure their guests are treated as people, and not another number. We frequently visit Kawana but will not be staying at the Best Western again purely because of the reception staff

    « Nice ambience »

The building itself is fairly new with the basic amenities you could ask for, for a short trip. Nothing more compared to big establish hotels like habing pool or gym though. The price is fairly reasonable for the room. My partner love it coz its clean and deco is easy on the eyes. We went for a lovely jog around the lake which is just right beside the hotel the next morning. Simply love that.

« Excellent service and facilities »

My partner, daughter and I stayed there two nights ago just for one night. We found the hotel to be very modern and tidy. The room was furnished very nicely. We particularly liked that they had Foxtel on the TV, the curtains completely blocked out the sun (great for a sleep in), the shower head was awesome (like a big rain shower head) and the bed + pillows were sooo soft and comfortable!! We also ordered a cot for the baby and it was very clean and presentable, I had no hesitations on letting my daughter sleep in it (some places give you a dirty old cot; which I wouldn't use.) We ate breakfast down in the restaurant and sat outside on the balcony, it was really nice and the food was amazing! We ordered the smashed avocado and feta with poached eggs (which was beautiful) and we ordered scrambled eggs for our daughter. The coffee was also really good! I had a long black and my partner had a cappuccino. The staff in the restaurant were really friendly and helpful, we were extremely happy with the service they provided. The only minus we had was that there was a fair bit of black hair left in the bathroom In various spots (definitely not our hair.) But in saying that, we weren't too fussed by it and when my partner told the manager on duty, she was very good about it. At the end of the day, the cleaners are only human and missing little things like that can happen from time to time, I doubt they would do that in every room. All in all, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very impressed with all aspects of this hotel. Thank you to the staff for their awesome hospitality.

« Good hotel - but needs some attention to minor details »

We stayed here for a night after the opening ceremony of the 2016 World Outrigger Sprint Championships at nearby Lake Kawana because it was the only good accommodation anywhere within miles of the venue. The hotel is reasonably new which is reflected in its surroundings - a major construction site consisting of hospital, medical centres and business park. When finished, it should be a reasonably nice locale but as for now it is what it is - a building site. First impressions of the hotel itself were favourable starting with the plentiful off-street car parking (some undercover) and the friendly and courteous greeting from reception staff. The room also was nice, featuring a super king-size bed with quality mattress, modern bedside light fittings, a very large wall-mounted flat screen TV, reasonably sized en suite bathroom containing all the expected balms, soaps and lotions, a well-stocked bar fridge, desk, chaise longue (which could double as an extra bed for a small adult or big child), an armchair and small table. Everything worked as expected reflecting the newness of the property. But just in case you think we were smitten with the room, I can list a couple of negatives. First, the curtains were incorrectly fitted. In my experience (and I have owned tourist rental accommodation) the daytime sheer privacy curtain is placed closest to the window, then comes the blackout curtain. In our room it was the opposite way around meaning that when you wanted to close the blackout curtain you first had to open the daytime privacy curtain. A minor point but, I feel, a valid one. Second was really not nice. My wife and I were inclined to have a glass of wine after returning from dinner but when we took the wine glasses from the cupboard it was clearly obvious they had been wiped with a damp cloth which left a milky film on the inside and outside of the glasses. Eeeeww! We shuddered at the thought of what that damp cloth may have been used to wipe as well. I realise glasses in hotel rooms are not sent to the kitchen dishwasher but a rinse in the sink and wiped with a dry, dedicated cloth should ensure a better outcome. Other than that, the room was quiet and we slept reasonably well. There is an onsite restaurant which looked busy but as we had an engagement elsewhere we were unable to try it. In summing up, this is a good business hotel which will cater well to the nearby hospital clients, their families and visiting medical staff. It is very close to a small selection of shops and cafes and about a 35 minute walk or 6 minute drive from the Lake Kawana sports complex. We would stay here again.

    « Excellent hotel »

My husband and I go frequently to the Sunshine Coast on weekends, and sometimes we stay one night or two over there. We found that this the perfect hotel for us. Its location is so convenient. You can get easily around Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, etc. The staff is nice and provide good service. The restaurant is excellent. Good quality and delicious food.

« A very nice room and very helpful staff »

We picked this motel because it was close to hospital but it was a very nice choice. All very new and our room was very comfortable and the blackout curtains were fantastic. Verycentral to all the coast but not beachside and not much around the place with lots of building going on.We were so grateful that the staff were able to fit us in one night at a time and it was not expensive.

« Lovely new business style hotel »

Let me just start by saying that if you are going to the Sunshine Coast for a tropical holiday to lounge by the pool/beach, this hotel is not for you. It is more business style, with no real guest amenities other than the restaurant (which I hear is very good, but didn't try as it was fully booked and a little on the expensive side for me). It is a new hotel in a brand new area which has not been mapped on my GPS yet, so it was a little tricky to find, but was fine once I found the area. There's really nothing nearby yet, except for a couple of café style places on the corner, which I imagine would only be open for breakfast and lunch. There are no supermarkets, convenience stores, or even petrol stations nearby, which is fine if you're prepared and get anything you might need on the way. The rooms are great! Large and modern, all with nice canal views. Large bathroom with humungous shower with rainfall shower head. Toilet is a little awkward - good thing I've only got short legs! And the shower could do with a little more pressure. There is fridge and kettle in the room, but no microwave or other kitchen appliances. The bed and seating areas were all very comfortable, and everything worked well. All staff members I encountered were friendly and welcoming. Overall an enjoyable stay, and I'll be interested to see how the area changes in the next few years.

« Lovely soft bed but very basic hotel with no pool or other services »

The hotel is entered via the carpark. The is not much to look at other than the service pipes and cement. You can see water from the restaurant but it is no oceanside. There are timber walls around the carpark so there is nothing to look at and it feels sterile. The room is nice but very basic. The bed and linen are the standout feature - great! The room has a nice bathroom but the toilet is facing the wrong way (?) and there is a small area for putting toiletries. It has a brilliant shower! The Television is large but is also probably situated in the wrong place (away from the end of the bed). There is no pool. The hallway is very basic. Disappointing

    « Great new hotel »

I stayed for one night in a deluxe king suite while visiting the Sunshine Coast. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, spacious and modern and the facilities were great. I would definitely recommend staying here. It would be especially convenient for families of patients at the new university hospital.

    « Overall a comfy stay »

This location is fairly handy and will become a great spot for those frequenting the hospital. If you want to be close to the water this isn't for you. It isn't close to really much so you need a car if you are staying here. Overall it was a cost effective stay and the rooms were more than acceptable.

    « Quiet and pleasant »

The room was beautiful and the addition of a chaise longue was great for watching movies. I spent one night here and the staff were friendly. The location was great for a traveller that simply wanted a place to stay overnight, but was a little far away from anything a tourist would want.

    « New and Clean »

You can tell when you approach this hotel that it hasn't been there for long. Evidence of that is because there's some construction close-by, eco-designed landscaping and a brand spanking new hospital, all within walking distance. The hotel was very clean and in good condition, the decor new and modern and the staff were very accommodating. Entry is via the side street rather than Florey Boulevard, so that was a bit confusing initially as the signage isn't clear. There's not many facilities (cafes/bars/restaurants) nearby so be prepared to (1) drive, (2) walk or (3) arrange use of one of the local clubs' courtesy buses. I expect nearby facilities will improve over time when development expands.

    « New & Clean »

Staff were very helpful. Rooms were of a good size and modern facilities. Stayed for one night with children aged 10 & 12 (visiting patient in hospital). No amenities to speak of, especially considering the age (new). Restaurant a tad small and not a very good choice on the menu and a bit overpriced for the standard of food. All in all though, a nice place for a stop over. Once other infra structure is in place it will be better. A fair way to drive for convenience places.

    « Great 1 night stay »

Stayed here 1 night on our drive down the east coast. As mentioned, the place is hard to find since it sits behind a hospital that is still under construction. The entire place is new and modern. Everyone we spoke with was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tastefully done and comfortable. Only downfall was the bathroom. The glass wall of the shower is a bit close to the toilet. You have to be mindful when rising from the throne. Also the counter space is limited in the bath. That seems to be the new design thing, bowl sink and no counter area. The restaurant was amazing. We ate dinner and breakfast there. Both meals we delicious and the menu had many choices. Prices were reasonable too. This is a good thing since you are far from any other options. Overall the Best Western Plus Oceanside Kawana is top notch.
