Je m’inscris Sonia was the receptionist during our stay and she went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous time, including complimentary drinks for my birthday aswell as a newly refurbished room. The bed was big and comfy, gorgeous rainfall shower aswell as a lovely view. Will definitely be staying again
I checked out an hour after I checked in and this was just a prior to a critical exam in my career as a doctor. - first room on 3rd floor: bathroom had an awful, nasty smell so asked reception to move me to a different room that did not smell - second room on 3rd floor: went inside and the staff had sprayed a perfume but it did not mask the awful smell in the bathroom and wore off within a few minutes - went upstairs to my friend's room on 5th floor and it did not smell bad and the toilet was fine - my friend came down and confirmed the bathroom smelled awful - went to reception and asked to be moved to the 5th floor as both of the rooms I was given on the 3rd floor had that unpleasant smell - reception explained they don't have double double or double rooms and I explained I'm not interested in what type of room it is just conscious of the smell. I explained about my upcoming exam and how I will be staying in the room for the next day to revise and I would appreciate a room that was suitable. I explained that my allergy can flare up with strong or unpleasant smells. - receptionist explained they have a twin room on the 5th floor and asked if I would be willing to go there which I said I am - he goes to talk to his manger and then they come back and take to check two rooms on the 3rd floor. The bathrooms smelled fine. When I asked about the twin room on 5th floor they said nothing was available there. I did not want to make a big issue out of that because my focus was my exam - I moved my stuff to the 3rd room on the 3rd floor and stayed there for 30 minutes. There was a very strong smell of detergent which was absent in the previous rooms. My eyes soon started itching and I started coughing. That had a big impact on my spirits before my exam as I have already wasted time sorting this out and I was worried how that would impact my health if I slept in that room overnight as the smell would cause congestion and make me feel exhausted. - I went to reception and explained the situation and asked if I can have that twin room on 5th floor. They said nothing is available there and that “it is your allergies that is the problem”. I asked to check out and enquired about any fees/payments and left. Such a horrible experience and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It was not my allergies that was the problem but the awful smell in 2 of the bathrooms and how that makes these rooms unsuitable for any person to stay in. And the strong smell of detergent which was present in one room and absent in all others. And the fact that I was told that there was a room on the 5th room but this was withdrawn after a chat with the manager. It felt manipulative and belittling.
After reading previous trip advisor reviews we were really anxious about our stay. We were thinking about cancelling and changing to a different hotel due to the bad reviews. Glad we didn't. The hotel was really nice. Staff friendly and breakfast good. We had a superior double room with balcony. The balcony was large with a table and 3 chairs. Unfortunately the weather was not good enough to get full use of it. The room facilities were OK. One complaint we would have is the bed size. For a superior room we would expect a super king bed. The room was large enough for this. The bathroom was spacious. Shower could be better, and a walk in shower rather than over the bath would have suited us better due to my husband's mobility issues. With the refurbishment happening hopefully the bathrooms will be updated. For some reason we only had 1 packet of biscuits to share between 2 people. Also had to phone for more toilet rolls as these were it replenished when the room was serviced. They were delivered quickly by reception. Got a bonus of late check out extended to 1 pm so had a leisurely swim after breakfast before heading home. No rush to pack up. Leisure facilities good. Pool was nice. Changing rooms a bit tired but OK. The location was OK and handy to walk into town. Nice quirky bars nearby. Everyone we came across was friendly and chatty. All in all a nice successful stay. Would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
Excellent stay, staff were friendly and helpful. Room was beautiful, clean quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The facilities including pool and gym etc looked lovely, although we didn't personally use them. Just had one night there, but would definitely stay there again . Overall a very pleasant experience indeed!
We arrived Saturday night well once we found the hotel as the postcode doesn't actually get you to the hotel. Not good when you don't know the area. Reception staff were friendly and check in was quick and easy. Room 328 was our room 2 double beds for 3 adults. AVOID, room was spacious with tea, coffee etc, not enough towels for the three of us, nor enough mugs or glasses. Great view of the car park!!!! The beds were so noisy whenever you moved even slightly the noise was awful, all 3 of us had a sleepless night. The hotel was full so we couldn't change rooms. Reception staff gave me the £8.00 car park fee back and offered me 20% off a next stay. NOW who would book again after no sleep. Plus side was the man on the bar 17th Aug was great very friendly helpful etc he couldn't do enough for guests. The main meal food was tasty and hot and they did have some gluten free options. Breakfast was good hot and lot's of choice. When sat outside you could not see the quays your view was a brick wall, such a shame. Will not return as lack of sleep put us of, shame as the food and service in the bar was excellent. I bet management won't reply as they only seem to reply o good reviews!!!!!!
Awful hotel, dark, unpleasant smell in room, rooms need a complete upgrade and expensive for what it was! Mould around bathroom, swimming area left a lot to be desired. The only saving grace was the lovely waiter in the bar. Avoid staying here. We also had an accessible room- we didn't need one- just what we got given. Lucky we didn't need it, there was nothing accessible about it, other than 2 pull cords!
This hotel is in a great location, although that is about the only good thing I can say about it. I chose the hotel in part due to the location and in part due to the onsite car park. I had booked car parking. However, the car park was full on the second night of my stay so I was told to park in the neighbouring multi storey car park. I asked to speak to the supervisor about this, but they weren't available. As a result of an issue with payment in the multi storey car park (the machine failed) I struggled to get out of the car park the following morning. When I finally managed to get out I asked to speak to the supervisor again because I was concerned I'd get a ticket (as I hadn't been able to pay) and I had no way of contacting the car park. Three times I asked at reception to speak to the supervisor and they were never available (I kept being told someone would speak to the supervisor for me and get back to me - they never did). I also asked to speak to the supervisor twice about issues with my room. Again they weren't available and didn't get back to me. I don't know whether there wasn't a supervisor or whether they didn't care. I came home and a week later got a £100 fine for the multi storey car park. This hotel wasn't cheap (even before the additional £100). But it wasn't worth even half of what I paid. I won't be staying here next time I come to Sheffield.
What can I say, for £115 (Saturday night) this has to be the worst hotel I've stayed in. The room was lovely & spacious but that's where it ends. No air con so room was very stuffy, doors banging at all sorts of times (not soft closing) & was given a room with an adjoining door which wasn't locked. The noise from people talking was also an issue, not sure if it's the walls or the adjoining door that are too thin. I definitely will not be staying here again.
Another stay at this hotel, equally as disappointing. Clearly management don't pay attention to their Google Reviews, or they would have fixed this by now. Let's start with the rooms. Credit where credit is due. They are spacious. They have good facilities and amenities, with some rooms offering a balcony view (not mine but hey ho). The housekeeping team were excellent and whoever was on night reception on Sunday 28th-Monday 29th July was also great when I complained about noise coming from a balcony below. The restaurant team is, yet again, where this hotel has fallen far short of expectations. In my last review, I had to wait 2 hours to receive food that I was told was being cooked and was in the Chef's hands, only to find out that they did not have it (despite us pre-ordering). This time, 4 of us ordered a pepperoni pizza (priced at £14.95). We had to wait 40 minutes for the pizza to come out. When it did, 3 came out with cheese, pepperoni and what you would expect... fine. Then. mine came out and instead of being served on a wooden pallet, was put on a normal plate (the first sign something was wrong), and was dumped down by the bar staff on the table who then quickly bolted away (the second indication). The pizza was, for lack of a better word, cremated. It had clearly been forgotten about. There was no cheese, there was hardly any pepperoni. The vast majority of it was burnt. This was after having worked a 15 hour day at the pool for an event, only to come back and have this disgusting pizza served to me as my evening meal which I'd had to wait 40 minutes for. We had the other 3 as a comparison and I took it up to the bar and showed them. We demanded an immediate replacement. They came back within 2 minutes and said "sorry, the kitchen is closed now." Unacceptable! You serve a cremated pizza that you've forgotten about to someone and then you have the audacity to say that you won't provide them with a replacement?! The Chef seemed to care more about clocking off at 9pm than he did at providing quality food to his guests. The fact that the kitchen staff have failed to meet expectations not once, but twice, in both of my stays here shows that they require serious improvement. Later in the week, again having worked 13+ hour days at the pool, we wanted to order a drink at the bar. The bartender said, "sorry, I've just closed the bar, we can't serve any more drinks." Then people in gym clothing approached the bar and were served immediately. We were told that they were staff. They were given their pint and off they went. When we went to complain and ask for a simple pint too, the bartender said "sorry, the bar is closed. They're staff. *I'm not even meant to be serving them anyway*". Despite this acknowledgement, he continued to serve a female member of staff, also in gym clothing. The flagrant hypocrisy and terrible customer service shone through. I was issued a full refund for my cremated pizza this time, unlike last time. I would like to praise the breakfast team for their outstanding service. The lady, who I presume was the breakfast manager, is amazing, and her team the same. They were cheery in the morning and would take an interest in our day, wish us luck, and consistently provide outstanding customer service. Perhaps the evening team should take lessons from them! I wholly recommend that you do NOT stay at this hotel. If you are forced to because of business, however, I recommend that you do not eat at the hotel restaurant under any circumstances. They consistently provide poor service, evidenced by my previous review and this one, and I have no doubt in my mind that they will continue to provide poor service.
I worked at the quays many years ago so this was nostalgia the hotel was lovely the room was spacious and clean very comfy bed the facilities in the room were unexpected surprise I had a high floor so had a spectacular view of sheffield watched the sunrise I asked for a packed breakfast because I had to leave very early it was ready at reception the lady on reception was very nice polite not loud at that time of the morning
Don't bother to book balcony room it is overlooked by balconies either side and there is s balcony outside the restaurant bar area you can use so not worth the extra. The staff were all lovely and helpful. The superior double we had was lacking for price paid. Door handle was not working to balcony but could still be locked. Bed frame was chipped and rough on corners. Bath was missing enamel on surface in places. Cleaner was in every day but plant pot ashtray on balcony was never emptied from previous smoking occupant. Was served zinfandel instead of pino grigio blush but this was exchanged when queried. Make sure you book via phone to avoid paying parking charges which is not clear if you book online. Location quite good for city centre but there is very little on the Quay. Breakfast quite good but not a consistent choice. Didn't live up to expectations of a premium room in a premium hotel
This hotel choses to operate a deposit system. The administration is clumsy, with a £50 charge to your card and then a 1 penny pre-auth. This means the £50 leaves your account, as opposed to just being held. Deposit is only released once housekeeping have checked the room, and therefore effectively long after you have checked out, meaning there is little room for redress if they decided something is not right. A very awkward set up, not something I would expect from a modern hotel and certainly not from a Best Western franchise. Also, staid for two nights but the room was not serviced by housekeeping after the first night. So ran short of tea/coffee and clean towels.
Two night break to Sheffield, had a great pre-paid value break here overloooking the canal basin (as me and Mrs C are canal nerds), getting to the hotel, we walked along the canal side but managed to miss the entrance there and walked all the way round, Duh!! Check in was easy and pleasant and our room on the third floor was spacious and spotless, as was the bathroom and a good shower, only bad thing was the beds, noisy everytime you moved and not really comfortable (we often stay in another hotel chain, think purple, and their beds are so much better than these). Breakfast on both mornings was excellent, lots of choice, lots of fruit, good cooked buffet and a delicious fruit tea loaf, Kirsty was there both mornings and she was great, always friendly and cheerful. Would I stay again, you bet, good location, nice staff, good rooms (apart from the beds) and great breakfast
Absolutely fantastic staff helpful and friendly. Super comfy beds, clean rooms. Lovely variety of foods at breakfast. Lovely meals 10/10
Wow!!! I had the pleasure of experiencing the brand new refurbished bedrooms and what a treat they are!! From the initial check in of super friendly staff to checking into a beautiful bedroom that consisted of the most amazing superking bed with ambient lighting around it to add that special touch! The bathroom was spacious and ultra modern, with a luxurious open shower! The view over the river with canal boats super cute to say it's a city centre hotel! Lovely stay and amazing staff, highly recommend!!
This was the best stay we have had. The room is so spacious. The bed was super comfy. There was also a mini fridge and iron in the hotel room. It was really clean. The hotel staff couldn't do enough for you to make your stay extra special. We stayed for our 25th wedding anniversary and we got upgraded to a brand new room.
Worst night sleep Iv add in a hotel. I didn't sleep at all and left at 7.30 am just to get out the nightmare
Lively hotel, which was very clean and welcoming. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant and lounge area very clean and comfortable with lots of seating options in the lounge. Lots of variety for breakfast with it being regularly refreshed.
Love the location , close to everything within a few steps. We come to this hotel 2/3times every week. Can't fault the service by the staff. All very welcoming. Special mentions go out to Victoria, Ellen, Kirsty, Sharon & Sherli. Credit to the hospitality industry.
We stayed at The Quays as we were attending a party in Kelham Island. The hotel is a great location to get to Kelham - just a 10-15 minute walk - and about the same distance into the city centre. All the staff are very welcoming - the rooms are comfortable and well appointed and quiet. Breakfast is very good - fresh produce - great poached eggs!
Clean room, staff pleasant but my goodness the beds in room 314 were appalling. It wasn't the mattress but the springs supporting the matrass. Incredibly noisy, every time someone turned over or moved all of us were woken up. Never, ever have I heard anything like it. The 3 of us were shattered when we had to get up. Avoid this family room at all costs
Booked the hotel as an early break for my birthday. On arrival the car park had plenty of spaces and was free for our entire stay. The reception was clean and tidy and the staff super helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Our room had everything we could need and had lush ringtones biscuits in the tea tray. The tv was disappointing as non of the freeview film channels worked. I spent some time in the hotel bar, enjoying a coffee in the afternoon whilst having a read of my book, it was nice and relaxing and a nice quiet space. It was a bit cold to be sat out overlooking the quayside! I popped back in, in the evening to have a glass of wine and another read of my book and although busier with people, I still managed to sit in a nice quiet area to chill. I had a lovely afternoon taking advantage of the swimming pool and sauna, I even joined in with the regular aqua aerobics class that the hotel runs as this was free to hotel residents. The regular ladies were super friendly! The sauna wasn't the hottest I've been in but I lucked our as I was sharing my time in their with Kashmiri and Pakistani lads so they ramped the steam heat up by adding cold water to the valve. Sadly the sauna and jacuzzi weren't working, which was disappointing as we'd booked this hotel for its spa facilities. I do believe once the building works are finished, that this should be rectified but it didn't help for our stay. I did enjoy what there was to use though! The quayside area is lovely to walk round and have a read of the information plaques pertaining to the quaysides history and there's even a small sandwich shop and a small bar along the walk if you fancied sitting and watching the ducks. Definitely like to go back to the hotel again once the Sandman have put their stamp I the place . The hotel is a 10 minute walk into the city and 15 minutes to the crucible. Slightly hilly but manageable.
We have stayed here now for 6 months. The hotel is excellent in every way. All staff in all areas of the hotel are very good ,hard working ,polite, good sense of humour, the menu is great food is brilliant especially the breakfasts!! The bed rooms are very comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for House Keeping. In a good position for all amenities.looking forward to staying here for another 2 months.Refurbishment no problem.
The bed was old and creaky, the mattress sagged and the pillows were crappy. The carpet was stained, furniture dated, wifi was hopeless, TV remote didn't work. Food in the restaurant was average at best. The menu needs to be done over by Gordon Ramsay. Staff were friendly. Overall the place was expensive and overrated.
I had a one night weekend stay in this large, mid-range hotel in the city centre. Check in was friendly, helpful and efficient. My room was spacious, well-appointed and clean - although the decor could do with a refresher. There were nice toiletries and refreshments in the room. The bathroom was a good size and clean - the shower was OK. There were no temperature controls in the room but the sleep environment was good. The bed mattresses made odd 'crunchy' noises but were comfortable. The location is excellent - it's within 10 minutes walk of shops, bus and tram stops, and the main train station. There isn't a convenience store nearby, so take your essentials with you. There's a bar that stays open for a late night cap, but there is limited seating.
My visit to kenwood hall was absolutely amazing! I had a gorgeous massage and facial from Chloe in the spa. I left feeling so relaxed!
On arrival check in was really quite simple and there was a lift so our room on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the quay side which was nice. We booked room only so didn't use the bar or restaurant on this occasion. The swimming was great and I did use it a couple of times.
Staying at this hotel was probably the best business trip so far this year and will take a lot to beat. The staff are lovely, the room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good and the fitness centre is also free to use as part of your stay.
The hotel looks lovely on arrival. Check in was very slow. I was charged a £50 deposit that I was not aware of at the time of booking or had budgeted for. We had room 321 right opposite the lift. The noise of the lift was horrendous all night. The pillows were so soft I asked if they had any firmer ones and was told no. In a premier in. You have the goodnight guarantee, nothing like that here. We pre brought a meal deal voucher, but there was a lot of confusion in the restaurant about it, plus they didn't know about the offer reception were showing of buying a starter and main get a dessert free. The 2nd night we ordered room service. Steak and spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread. Had to call for the garlic bread as it didn't come and the steak was like leather. The hotel cost £360 for 2 nights. Totally NOT worth it. On a positive note the breakfast was good and the breakfast staff were lovely. Promises so much but doesn't deliver
I wouldn't stay here again. Don't like that they take the £50 deposit. This is even worse when you check out and you have to wait for someone to check the room. Seems a bit unnecessary. Doesn't help that the staff don't care about customer service. I'm not going to go into the full story but if you need help with something…don't hold you breath. Says 24 hour reception but they prioritise the bar (making money) over answering the phone during the evening/night. Room had big stains on the floor and chair. I complained as was offered a cheaper stay next time I visit!
The hotel is ok its clean and tidy and the staff are lovely. Rooms are ok but outdated the bed was the most uncomfortable I have experienced in a hotel and needs upgrading it was hard and moved around all over the place. The Lamp on one of the bedside tables was not working and there was no way to control the heating in the room.
The hotel was very busy and had works going on, but the staff provided excellent service which made the experience really above average. Everything is as it should be, but it does need some refurb - I think it's getting one. 1 weird thing.. a huge round table on the entrance with nothing on it. It was strange being empty like that right on entry. Please invest in some flowers, it's really noticeable. Morgan. Zeyna Aioni on reception. All outstanding
Terrible experience with this hotel. Asked for deposit on room, up sold a dinner voucher.!! All fine. Anything not included I asked. No everything is included they said. On departure they wouldn't refind or room deposit!! Had too argue for 90 minutes!! Was told lots of new ( un explained) terms and conditions. They tried to defraud not just me but a number of guests while I waited to be robbed. Did not receive my full refund and will tell everyone who will listen how disgusting the treatment of customers were. Purely deceitful on the hotels behalf. I asked if there were any special conditions and was assured there was not. Manager cowerd in the room as a poor your girl had to deal with dissatisfied customers.
Stayed here 2 nights as was working alongside the mobo awards, fantastic hotel we have never visited Sheffield before but will be returning. Staff were really helpful both evenings and big thanks to Holly as-well for watching my vehicle due to its value and looking after us both evenings with real interest in why we were staying and the work we were doing, nothing we needed was an issue. The bar was a relaxing space and the guy that served us was also brilliant we didn't catch his name. One downside was I did have to change rooms during our stay as the junior suite wasn't available both nights but both rooms were great!
Service was excellent - very friendly staff. Room were clean with very good amenities (iron / fan / tea and coffee making etc). Food was excellent and good value! Breakfast choice was superb - great range of cooked, pastries, cereals and fruit!
Booked 2 nights, left after 1. Asked to move rooms soon after arrival due to noise of heating/lifts, restaurant/bar, (avoid Room 201), and also the building work. Told fully booked (on checking it wasn't, just my room type, which would not have been an issue), after a wait of half an hour a manager appeared to offer a drinks voucher. Never informed of the VERY noisy building work taking place on the 5th floor during the day, lied to multiple times in writing that I was informed when I complained. If you plan to spend anytime in the hotel to rest/work during the day, go to a different hotel. My room was on the furthest floor & there was no way it would be possible to rest, work or make calls. Eventually did get a full refund, only through persistence, after multiple responses from the hotel with zero customer service
What a joke of a hotel. The service was really bad. They ran out of loads of different meals. They ran out of beer. The staff don't know what they are doing. I booked two nights on booking .com. £120 a night. I then cancelled one because of the terrible service. They then charged me £172 for one night. This was because they cancelled the original booking and rebooked for just one night. Subsequently the rate had changed from £120 to £172. They have completely ripped me off.
Well what can I say. The hotel he as had a makeover and is even better. Two nights if great sleep. It is cheaper to book through the website and get rewards for your stay. They had all the TV channels I wanted and I could have my dinner in the bar.
Please be aware that they do ask for the £50 deposit. Pay by card, not phone as they can't refund your phone. There's also the issue of parking. Please see attached photo for more information. Other than that it was a pleasant trip. There's free use of the gym facilities. However, the sauna is currently closed.
We booked several rooms at this hotel for my daughters wedding! The hotel and the rooms were great, but I can't say enough wonderful things about Emma, the Events Manager! She went out of her way to answer every question we had and to make my daughter's wedding weekend special! Thank you Emma & team!
Me and my boyfriend came here to attend a wedding nearby and we both really enjoyed our stay. The bed was very big and comfortable, and the view (we booked a double with a view) was very pleasant. The main reason we chose this place over others was the pool, which is nice and big and was pretty empty on the weekday we visited. I would say it is more for family and leisure swimming than exercise but there are a couple of laps too. The changing rooms are massive too which is nice. The only complaints was that the water pressure on the shower wasn't great (but that is to be expected on the top floor) and that there was some really gross crust around the tap. But really these were small complaints. The location was very walkable to the city centre but out of the way enough that you don't feel surrounded by it. It is worth mentioning that the surroundings are a little less tranquil than the photos show - there are some big roads nearby but not a lot of noise for us at least. If you can I recommend booking on a Sunday, the price is much better.
On arrival at the hotel we received a friendly welcome. Checking was easy. Bedroom a little dated, but was clean and tidy. The staff, from bar, restaurant and leisure put themselves out to assist with request made. Could have a wider variety in restaurant. Breakfast good
Hotel was clean, drinks very expensive and not a great variety, most staff were jolly however the deposit the hotel charges for groups isn't advertised and it's only for groups not every guest pays this!! The bed was very uncomfortable the mattress sink in the middle.
Upon arrival we were told our rooms wernt ready, we were early so thought nothing of it but receptionist showed little care. After 3 hours of waiting many of our friends had rooms done and we were still waiting. After standing at reception for a while the staff switched us to another room then told us with no prior warning that our entire 70+ group were being charged a £50 security deposit which was refundable on check out! I have to say I have never been blindsided by something like this at a large hotel chain. After being told it's either I pay the fee or don't stay with them I coughed up the fee provided we got our money back on the day of departure The room was dirty dated, the "smart TV" had nothing smart or high quality about it. The extractor fans didn't work and there were 3 fire alarms in the space of 30 minutes. To top it of the spa had both the sauna and jaccusi pool out of order and the showers smelled of Mildew and sweat and my partner was being watched at all turns by the creepy old guys who frequented the pool side and steam room. After leaving the "spa" prematurely following the leering eyes of some creepy guys we retreated to our stone hard bed to get ready for our evening ball. I ironed my shirt and the iron stuck to it it was caked in black gunge which now has ruined a perfectly good.shirt. upon asking reception for a new iron and one turned up there wasn't even an apology for the damaged article. I will say the saving grace of this debacle is that the food that was served throughout the evening. And the following morning was fantastic so hats off to the chefs who rescued this ball. My issues with this cowboy "hotel" got worse in the morning when one of our group complained about the 50 pound charge to the deputy manager who had not known about this policy and couldn't comment on it. Upon checkout the reception staff had to inspect our rooms befor they would release the funds taken from us. We were then told the money would be realised back to us within 3 to 5 working days! We are not happy with best western and I certainly will not and do not recommend this chain.. absolutely shocking.
Visited this hotel on a coach holiday. It's a nice really modern hotel worth great facilities. All the staff are really friendly and willing to please especially "Owen" in the restaurant. Would definitely visit again if I got the chance.
Customer service non existent. The worst one I ever received in a hotel. No one is available to talk to or is interested in what you ask. The restaurant run out of napkins so they didn't you any, when you ask they give you small paper ones
Stayed at the hotel in August with my son. Hotel is perfect location for central and the outskirts, easy to get too and good parking Staff were lovely and the food was good. The rooms are clean and tidy and nice and quiet
Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Leisure facilities and opening times are really good, outside public use the facilities, but not a problem. Good choice of food for breakfast, but the hot food needed to be warmer. My only down side was the rooms need a bit of a makeoff. Would stay again if in area.
Honestly, what a great stay we had here, exceeded our expectations and then some. Looking forward to seeing if the change to Sandmans will be even better. It is now our go to hotel in the city, price dependent.
The member of staff on reception was rude on arrival. Unlike other hotels there is no flexibility on arrival accessing your room (if it happens to be ready early). This then resulted in all guest queuing at the same time to check in which took 25 minutes in a queue. No information given about hotel facilities or the area. No coffee pods in the room for the machine. The hotel was full due to a concert but they had one member of staff on the bar after the concert. The queue was massive. We went down to the bar twice but gave up. The staff member wax called away to reception so it was left unstaffed. On arrival we were told they had run out of vegetarian sausages the day before. I'm not sure why they couldn't purchase any in time. I'm sure they wouldn't do that if it was bacon they had run out of. The hotel was tired and needed a refurbishment. The only positive aspect was the effort the breakfast staff went to. They were friendly and welcoming which was in stark contrast to the woman on reception. This was such a disappointing experience. It was something my friend and I were looking forward to for a long time. I was treating her to the hotel due to lots of stress in her life and I thought a room priced at £216 would be a pleasant experience. What a waste of money. I will not stay in this hotel chain again.
Had booked river view room but was put n a room the other side bit moved quickly when we ring reception. Unfortunately bar was cleaning beer pipes on a Sunday evening , probably a job for Monday morning! Also had limited choice of gin, service very basic but not the worst, all in all average experience could do better
Little run down but comfortable enough. Sleep distrusted by barking dog and kitchen running early in the morning. Service hit and miss breakfast being positive but evening not so much. Overall for the price of stay acceptable but wouldn't eat at the restaurant if I stayed again
Fantastic hotel, very friendly staff, clean, great rooms, tea/coffee in the room, breakfast amazing! Generally very good value for money and location is amazing as well - there is a great small bar right next to the hotel by the canal to enjoy pint if the weather permits. Loved everything about this hotel. Also, parking available righ next to the hotel for £8 per 24h.
Last visit was while this hotel as a Hilton. Received same balcony room as I had last time. Toilet did not flush, tv would not switch off, had to unplug, holes in wall where previous facilities had been. Very disappointed, almost criminal what happens when a decent chain drops a hotel. Almost as bad as Britannia. That should hurt, it really should.
Have stayed a few times now visiting my daughter at the Uni. Take my dog. It's always very nice and friendly staff. It's much nicer in the summer, appreciated the river and the bars this time and walked to Kelham Island to eat. Staff very friendly. Room simple, but clean and everything worked well. Added bonus of a pool make it a good place to stay for £100 odd a night. Nice to see this area being developed.
discussing they stains in carpits and curtins.hair in bedding. bath plug dont work and tv channels tv arnt smart tvs. staff wornt let ya book in one slot. they dont clearn ya rooms have to ask for freash towels and bogroll the staff are rude and the security is out to argue he hot headed. what a waste of money. i could go on n prove it bit so mad and upset
If you are looking for a short break. This is the place with a view for you. Breakfast is excellent. The staff is very helpful. Room service is at your service. Front desk very polite and helpful. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who is travelling for business, conference, meetings, the most important meal is breakfast and that is substantive and a great way to start the day.
Ok hotel set in skanky Sheffield, I had never been here before and was almost as run down as Liverpool, the hotel is ok and the barman and young staff try hard and are very pleasant, but the menu is rubbish so have to eat out, and then you have to navigate the skank and wrongens hanging out on all the benches scattered around the new pathways that are bordered by derelict landscape forgotten by developers.
Once I had found it the hotel was way bettter than I expected. The room was large and spotless, the bed was very good. Breakfast doesn't live up to the hotel but it was OK. The receptionist was charming
I've never had a bad stay at The Quays Sheffield. Ease of parking, friendly staff, room always well stocked and clean and breakfast, always great quality, thoroughly recommend for business or leisure as stayed for both
Summer quilt on bed when there was ice outside asked for blankets was told they didn't provide them - bed so uncomfortable - had a bad back for ages. In fairness the hotel did contact me after my stay to say they are refurbishing etc and apologised - so hopefully in the future will be rectified
The room was clean however shower was leaking and old toilet though. The sauna and steam room were full and busy and looked dirty this was 8pm or so. The food though at the restaurant was superb big servings!!
This hotel is on the quay in Sheffield. It is a good location, but to get into the center you have to walk through areas that are a bit run down. The hotel itself is lovely with really helpful staff, a nice character. The restaurant looks fairly basic but the food was exceptional. Reasonably priced too. The room was very clean and all our requests (extra towels / late check out) were accommodated.
A colleague and I recently stayed for three nights while conducting workshops for a client based in sheffield. The location was perfect, and really easy to get to places to eat and drink. Big shout out to Kirsty, the server at breakfast, who made sure I had everything I needed for a great gluten free breakfast! Her customer service was exceptional. It's not always easy dealing with a coeliac diner, but she made me feel very comfortable in asking for what I needed.
We stayed here for 4 nights over New year and we were not disappointed, Hotel is in a perfect location for a short walk into town, it was lovely and clean the staff were amazing and welcoming we will definitely be back.
I stayed her with my partner and child for two days over Christmas and it ticked the boxes, but didn't wow as a hotel. What DID excel was the level of customer care from your staff, particularly Nate. On Christmas Day, he went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our drinks at the bar and is a real asset to the team. Friendly, courteous and professional, while retaining a genuine human warmth, he's a top chap. Treat him well! The hotel itself was, as I mentioned above, a little “cold” in the corporate sense, feeling like it was a bit more business-focused than warm and inviting. We've stayed at another large hotel very close and, while a little tired in decor, it feels a little more like a family hotel. Parking is available but is not free. The location is great for the city centre and connection to the motorway.
Had arranged a works party for December 2021 but due to Covid this had to be postponed until Saturday 17th December 2022, I had initially gone early to put our seating/table plan up and to put the menus on the tables, to my surprise the staff had already done that & the function room was beautifully set out, from crackers to balloons to party hats, all the seats were dressed, it looked fabulous. The floor managers were very helpful & attentive nothing was overlooked, in fact they couldn't do enough. Everything was laid out just as I had asked. The bar staff were perfect, special mention to Nate, very attentive, polite and very efficient. Once the food was ready to be served it was done with ease and professionalism, there was no dramas, no complaints about any of the food apart from the carrots were a bit hard, but we can live with that can't we!!! all in all the evening was perfect. Our company was very impressed. Well done to all the team. Merry Christmas.
Can't believe this is a 4 star hotel. I stayed with my partner, as our work Christmas party was in the hotel. The room was spacious, had a ‘smart' TV but with no apps on it so not sure what was smart about it. Bathroom was very dated with a shower curtain very worn and stained and not fully attached. There was also no fridge in the room. There are no plug sockets near the bed which is a little inconvenient and the lights are either ALL on or ALL off so it's either pitch black or feel like the room is flood lit. There are plenty of lamps dotted around but cannot be used separately. Also a few random hairs on the bed and in the bathroom for good measure. I stated on check in we would like breakfast the following morning in our room we were told to fill in the form stating what items we would like and to hang it on the door that evening to be collected in the night. In the room there was only one form, I came down for another and after a long wait the receptionist couldn't find one so she gave me a post it note to write our orders on and stick to the form. We arrived at the party downstairs at 7:30 and was informed even by that time they had no bottled water (my partners choice of drink). Other drinks then quickly ran out, Becks blue was the only non alcoholic option that wasn't pop, which ran out within an hour along with glasses, ice and many other drinks. The bar person was extremely rude, clearly didn't want to be there. The food was average at best and was very much later than planned coming out, there didn't seem to be much planning/organisation with the waiting staff which is obviously not their fault more the hotels. Toward the end of the evening I asked for a jug of water (no ice obviously) and the attached photo is what I received, full of scum around the top. Breakfast didn't arrive to the room so I looked outside and no one had taken our menu. I called reception which they then quickly rectified. Breakfast arrived, no butter for toast, no other condiments and my filter coffee turned out to just be a jug of warm water. Sausage was undercooked and there were floating bits in our juice.
This is a very good hotel ,right by the canal , nice big rooms ,only a 10 to 15 minute walk into Sheffield ,The only thing that lets this hotel down is the breakfast its really not much better than a Holiday Inn Express which shouldnt be for 4 * hotel
Chaos and terrible. Money deducted from my card for no reason and without my consent. Poor bed ( noisy spring mattress) No cooling or heating system Breakfast below expectations and they keep changing price. Below average food. Parking is not free
Poor service. Poor bed quality (noisy spring mattress) No heating or cooling system. Big but cold room on winter No drinking water/use tap water Much less than expected food quality Leisure club busy/open to public Zero sound isolation, you can hear neighbours walking and using toilet.
Stayed Sunday through Monday for an early Graduation event at Ponds Forge Nice welcoming hotel with parking (£7 for 24 hours was very reasonable), we selected rooms with a view over the canal at the back which was worth the small premium. Rooms were spacious, though some fixtures and fittings were a little tired looking. Comfy bed, clean room and a good night's sleep as the area was surprisingly quiet for a city centre location. Used the pool + leisure centre on our stop, again a rare thing to find in a city hotel. The sauna ans steam room were particularly well-received. The bar was spacious and welcoming with plenty of comfy sofas to relax in. Beers were only ok with no decent choices of draught ales, only lagers, with only a limited selection of bottled beers too We ate lunch there on the day we left. Quality was excellent though I thought at £77 for 4 lunches it was a little steep
I recently stayed at the quays found hotel and staff welcoming and friendly pool was great room tidy and bed clean breakfast was nice Sheffield was only a short walk to Center hotel car park on site not off site this was a good thing I think
I think we would be better off staying at other hotel chain. We needed 2 double beds and that was the reason we booked it. The room was very tired and has marks on the carpet. Swimming pool was ok but the shower and changing area was dirty with hairs and bits on the floor! Shower smells as well. Breakfast was ok but again not all the tableware was clean. It's ok for one night if you can put up with the cleanliness and how tired the building looks. Bed and pillows aren't comfortable either so overall don't think we will be back again.
A great example of doing something well without being flashy or overpriced. I stayed one night and the hotel had everything I needed for a business stay Good food, comfortable room an a convenient location
Reception was okay, good greeting by receptionist. Outdated and tired decor throughout the hotel. Areas of maintenance needed however due to the poor standards, everywhere looked bad. Our sleep was awful, both healthy adults woke with back pain. No complimentary water in room (pointless calling for room service) From our room we could hear banging doors all night, flushing toilets, other guests running water below us and the tv in the room next door. Breakfast service needed more staff and all guests were anxious waiting for buffet food to be replaced. Little food options at breakfast overall and we did depart and visit the closest costa. Main bar was basic. Didn't use the gym or pool.
I wasn't expecting much, having read a few reviews, but was honestly blown away by the staff. They were constantly cheerful, professional and friendly. They can't do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble. The food was top notch, the rooms surprisingly big, the shower powerful and hot. It wasn't too hot at night (often a problem in hotels) and it was quiet even though it was a weekend.
An excellent value stay for conference weekend (delegates received a special room rate). Room was spotless and well equipped. Staff were helpful. Breakfast good range if a little lacking in vegetarian options.Comfortable bed. Quality fixtures and fittings in room plus-iron/hairdryer/safe. Decent bathroom with both bath and shower and the usual tioiletries.
This was a nice hotel to stay, room was clean and well maintained. For my visit, the hotel was extremely well situated. All staff encountered were very friendly and helpful, absolutely no complaints from my stay.
Loud noisy drunk people screaming at 4am, abysmal food that would have gutted me at premier Inn. No air con in the room that's just not true. 7 pounds parking premium extra 10 pounds a head for the shocking breakfast. Premier inn is honestly the same or better. Try holiday inn express next door I beg you
Stayed here for a couple nights for a conference at the university in town. Bar was well stocked, and we hit it off with the other guests who were there for similar reasons. Evening was great, as it's within walking distance of the city center allowing us to do what we needed. Pool was great, when I was here the hot tub was broken but the Sauna and Steam Room were working in the Spa attached were good. Place did seem a bit run down, but it was a good place to stay. - Seen better days a bit and could do with a bit of a refurbishment decor wise but bed was great though!
Carpets all dirty. Furniture falling apart, Beds with wheels not locked. Terrible mattresses, 'V' shapped, hard in the middle and end up rolling off. Internet is hit and miss, no phone in room. Sheffield is a great place, stay somewhere else.
This hotel is overpriced. It was bank holiday, but the general condition of the hotel needs a total refurb. It is old and tired. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on - and at breakfast others guest were mentioning the same. The whole room decor was boring, grubby around the edges and old fashioned- not in a trendy way!
We stayed here for 3 days and every morning had breakfast, needless to say the food was AMAZING every morning, the facilities that are available is incredible I used the swimming pool and gym and loved it. The staff there are always happy to help, nick and Elizabeth made our stay even better they were always happy and always remembered what we said we were good do and asked how it went, nick and Elizabeth also made my birthday by bringing out carrot cake with a candle and singing to me. We will deffo be returning again. Thank you nick and Elizabeth, the bar was amazing as well
Old, scruffy looking rooms. Carpets full of stains and also the sauna etc didn't work. Not worth the money you pay. Be better in a travelodge. Massively dissapointed and have complained. No redeeming features what so ever. Don't bother with it
Not a pleasant place to stay, not sure how others are giving 4 or 5 stars. Stiflingly hot with no air con and windows dont open more than an inch but, ironically, nor do they close as the window latches are broken, so sound from very noisy four lane highway outside can't be blocked out. Pool would be ok but neither sauna nor hot tub working, and changing rooms and showers smelt of backed up drains. Hotel badly needs some investment and care and attention. Like most cheap hotels the doors all slam at deafening volume constantly as well.
Booked overnight in between family visits. Big spacious hotel nice room overlooking the quayside. Staff welcoming and helpful. Had pay extra to park £7 for 24 hours. A walk into Sheffield city less than 10 minute walk. Hotel has an indoor pool which we made use of nice and relaxing after a long travel. Room had lovely big beds and spacious bathroom. Plenty of toiletries too. Breakfast room was clean and orderly and you could even opt to sit outside which was a nice touch. Had no complaints. I would stay here again.
Stayed here 2 nights. We used to stay here when it was Hilton and don't think much has changed. Location is really good. Lots going on around the canal at the weekend. Recommend eating at the True Loves bar in the arches under the hotel. Seating outside. Excellent food. The room had a view of the canal basin. We chose a twin room, the beds were very big and the room was clean. Plenty of bathroom toiletries and towels also teas and coffees. The breakfasts and the breakfast staff are excellent. A bit limited on the menu for evening meal (same menu in the bar). We ate in the restaurant one night. Will be staying here again.
Me and my husband stayed for one night to celebrate our anniversary. On entering the room we were pleased …. Nice size, clean and a lovely view. We visited the leisure facilities and it was nice although disappointed that the jacuzzi wasn't working. The problems came when we went to bed that night …… the mattress was SOO uncomfortable and sunk in the middle so every time we moved you ended up in the middle of the bed …….. that mattress desperately needs replacing!!! Breakfast the next morning was good.
Great to be able to get our 17-yr old son in same room as us in comfort: he enjoyed double bed instead of more normal sofa bed. We enjoyed the on-site pool + gym facilities too. Great location, short walk from city centre with no-hassle car parking. Environs interesting too for a brief stroll in the morning.
My husband and I travelled here for our anniversary and were disappointed. The hot tub wasn't working and the shower was a dribble at best. The rooms weren't up to 4 star standard unfortunately which is a shame as we liked the area. Beds were uncomfortable too and we got noise as were facing the water and had the window open as it was hot. Wouldn't stay again.
A friendly welcome but the room was quite small, tired decoration, un-ironed duvet cover and not heating in the bathroom. Restaurant is a nice location but the menu was really uninspiring and basic. Nothing 'Plus' about it. We didn't bother to go to breakfast.
Great hotel to stay in, friendly staff, comfy beds, great location being on the canal. The facilities are great with a lovely pool. Sauna & gym. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area. I was b&b and the buffet style breakfast was more than adequate with both hot & cold options available
The hotel from the outside including its setting looks promising, however the corridors and rooms are disappointing and tired looking especially considering the price paid. The hotel internally is very tired looking with the room having dirty stained carpet and a strange smell. Thankfully the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. Too expensive i.e. 4 star price for budget room
Booking process and check in was terrible - however I was really worried after I booked and checked trip advisor photos... I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised with the room, it was clean, and most things were modern and great quality. Check in was 2pm, however it was 3.30 and a couple of attempts before they gave me (someone else's) room. Booking process - paid in full on website, hotel called about a week before the stay they called to say the room was unpaid and they'd cancel the room if I didn't call and pay in 24 hrs. I called to say I'd paid on the Best Western website (you literally can't book without paying), reception manager said she would call Best Western and get back to me. All hotel rooms in the whole of Sheffield were booked, so the email and it's tone really caused panic. Next day I got another email saying as I hadn't paid, my reservation was being cancelled. I called right away and said I was waiting for a call from them! I offered to pay in full for a second time in lieu of the resulting conversation between the hotel and Best Western - they said that it's hotel policy not to take payments over the phone! Absolutely torturous. If you didn't laugh, you'd cry.
We started off our 5 night stay in room 232 but hardly got any sleep as there was a really loud noise (sounded like a generator) going all night. We called reception at 10.30pm and the lady we spoke to said she would get back to us but she never did. We spoke to someone else in the morning who was much more helpful and moved is to another room (308). She said nothing could be done about the noise which seems ridiculous. That room should not be used as a bedroom if it's so noisy. Our second room was much quieter although a lot tattier than the first. Our room cards were disabled three times over the course of our stay and we got trapped in the lift. Some of the staff were nice but some were very rude, like we were an inconvenience and they were doing us a favour! The sauna was great (didn't have time to try the stream room) and the pool was a great size for a hotel pool (20m) but was heated to over 30 degrees as they have mother and baby groups in the week so it was almost too hot to do proper swimming. This hotel could be great but at the minute it's definitely not.
Our little break to catch up with friends we were shown some of the sites of this Beautiful part of England the City and the people were wonderful as a Diamond sits proudly in the middle of a Ring Sheffield sits proudly in the middle of England
Very nice stay lovely staff. Breakfast was great, good selection of produce, hot and well prepared all in a pleasant clean environment. Room was a good size above avaerage. Location in the city centre with a view of the canal and boats was a bonus.
Really nice hotel ,,great pool and gym was really surprised how large the pool and gym were !!rooms pleasant enough. Breakfast fantastic and staff really nice . Location by canal really lovely . Two slight areas to improve, the male showers were a bit scruffy and smelled a bit unpleasant, also for £250 plus a night I expect to be able to use the bar at 11 pm as a resident for a nightcap. Over all though would definitely stay again .
After reading the other reviews I was a bit worried about staying here. I shouldnt have been, it just shows dont always trust reviews. The staff on reception were very welcoming and friendly on arrival. Our room was superb, spotlessly clean, beautiful bathroom and we even had a balcony with table and chairs and flowers overlooking the quayside. We wished we could have stayed longer but were only there one night. The people of Sheffield were so friendly, even the taxi drivers were lovely! Will definitely be back.
Google Maps easily directed me to the entrance to the hotel. The car park was massive, very close to the hotel reception. Very nice building, big clean room. Excellent wifi connexion. Friendly staff at reception. The only one drawback: I stayed on a cold winter night and the small radiator in the room did not help much with the freezing room temperature!
Really friendly staff who could not do enough for you. The room was clean and spacious. We both enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will book again. We even had the pleasure of speaking to Mr Rick Wakeman at breakfast who had played in Sheffield the night before.
The hotel itself is really nice. Rooms are clean and the pool area is good. However we were in a room with an adjoining door (strangers next door)and you can hear everything going on the other side of the door!! The lifts are also really noisy. I got about 1 hours sleep!
The hotel itself was okay but the room was very poor and very very basic (especially for the price paid!) The carpet was completely dirty and stained, there was a strange smell in the room and it overall seemed filthy. Food in the restaurant was alright, but on a set menu for a big group the food was not great or up to standard.
No customer service. The staff are not interested in resolving any issues. The restaurant is very nice it is a shame about the rude staff and food though! I cannot stress this enough avoid this hotel at all costs!!!
Nice hotel and helpful staff, but the stay was completely spoiled by a creaky mattress. Not only creaky when I moved but lumpy and saged toward the middle which gave my the worst sleep ever. Please upgrade your mattresses and pillows
Creaky mattress and bed, poor connectivity of Internet in the room, breakfast was passable but all self service and the bacon looked like a face flannel, the sausages resembled corporite and the warm orange juice was sweet and not orangey. So for a hotel, if you want a good nights sleep, nice breakfast and good Internet you may struggle to find that here.
Arrived early and was pleasantly surprised to see that our room was available, which was greatly appreciated so we could freshen up after a long drive. The room was adequate for what we needed, but an additional bed or sofa bed for our son would have been nice. The large bed easily accommodated all 3 of us so wasn't a problem. Free parking would have been nice, seems a little bit petty to charge patrons £7 a night, but it is what it is. The shower head in room 224 needs replacing, whilst you can shower OK half of the water is lost by it leaking out of the back. We were looking forward to using the pool for a quick swim before travelling home but no one turned up at 8am to open the leisure facilities, we waited 15 minutes then decided to leave along with some other people. Overall a decent hotel situated 10 minutes walk from Sheffield center and the tram system, perfect for what we needed. Will considering using it again when we are next in Sheffield.
Only stayed the one night staying over for business,he hotel was clean and the staff were very good and the restaurant well priced also the pool was excellent with a steam room and sauna adjacent the gym looked fab too just didn't have time to use it on this trip.
I would give the hotel a 3.5 overall. I would point out in arrival and check the staff were helpful and friendly. Tom R served us for our evening Neal and was very friendly, as was the lady who greeted us for breakfast the next morning( sorry no name). Food was reasonable, we'd travelled a while in storm Eunice so couldn't be bothered to go looking outside for other places to eat. The room we had was very spacious, but the flooring, dressing table area and the bathroom tiles are in need of some attention. The bathroom from when we walked into the room for the first time had a very damp , like wet towel smell, not please tear all( possibly the shower curtain as it was material an d would be dry in time for a sane day change around). Lack of towels , only one bath towel each, no hand towels at all. One of the worse nights sleeps , but that is because we found the bed uncomfortable, as were the pillows and someone else may not have this issue. I definitely couldn't stay in that particular room for more than one night, so would of looked at different options in the hotel, if we had to stay longer Location for us was perfect, 10 minute drive from the sporting venue to see our daughter play in the badminton Uni nationals.
We have just left after a two day stay here. From start to finish our experience was fab. Every staff member from the check in, bar and restaurant staff to cleaners went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Our room was so clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. The bar area played Motown and we felt like we were on a mini holiday despite sadly being there for a funeral they couldn't have looked after us more. Thank you so much to all the amazing staff, I couldn't think of one negative thing to say about our experience. Can't wait to return!!!
Great hotel, very clean, spacious and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast, bar meal, health and fitness centre, all had great service too..... Already booked to stay 4 more times this year for 2 nights at a time in other locations
The hotel seemed really nice on first impressions. The room was fine but next to the lifts so was quite noisy at night. The biggest downside was the bed- rock hard. I now have hip pain after having very little sleep. I wish we had paid a bit more for somewhere else. It's a shame as the hotel was nice over than this. Will only go back if the beds get sorted out.
Overall, I was very satisfied with our 1 night stay at the Best Western Plus, Sheffield. Had asked for a quiet room (it was a Sat night) and we had this on the 5th floor. Room was warm, comfortable, easy car parking, short walk to city centre. Breakfast was good. Would come back again.
This would have been more of a 4star however there were cobwebs in the room, the bed was far too hard and the towels and bedding had a musty smell The hotel is in a good location In my opinion the menu for the restaurant was a little poor
The rooms are not maintained to the standard of a 4 star hotel. In need of a change of carpet, painting and general updating of heating and amenities. Cooked breakfast not available until 8:00 am. A very limited choice of food in their restaurant.
Lovely hotel. All staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the bar staff. The front reception and entrance is really inviting. The room was clean, warm and really spacious. The bed was huge! Had a drink at the bar on arrival - very comfortable and service was great. Breakfast was also really good - lots to choose from and plenty of staff around to help. All in all a great experience
Nice enough hotel and nice staff. Secure parking out the front of the hotel. The hotel is in reasonable walking distance into the city centre where you can enjoy nice food and drinks. Breakfast was good.. I stumbled upon the hairy bikers at the table next to me.. if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me. I had a small altercation with my payment and the staff were very prompt at solving this when I emailed them some weeks later. Avoid the bar the pint was poor. Will stay again
The staff at this hotel are fantastic.... Unfortunately everything else falls pretty short of the mark. The beds in the twin rooms are the hardest I've ever slept on, or tried too... Only stayed for two nights and my lower back is wrecked. I managed to nod off on one of the nights due to sheer exhaustion only to be woken up at 3.30am by 5 or 6 bursts of a fire alarm... I've stayed all over the world and this was by far the worst two nights sleep I've ever had.
I was amazed by this hotel so I always choose this for relaxing and resting place. The amenities that is provided by this hotel is just wonderful . I love going to the pool and sauna. This is my favorite hotel so far.
Stayed for one night great comfy rooms with a view. Lovely breakfast included, all staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Free swimming, sauna and steam rooms very nice. Lovely hotel will definitely return
We stayed one night at this hotel. We were a family of 4. Kids liked swimming and I enjoyed working out in their spacious gym. I stayed at holiday inn in Rotherham the stay before which has restrictions on using swimming pool and small gym, so it was a nice upgrade. Nice staffs working here. We felted welcomed. I will def use this hotel again when we come to visit Peak District Nation Park. Thanks to the team!
Always a pleasure to stay in this hotel. Central to Sheffield and staff always amazing and ready to help at any cost and will go to any length to make your stay as comfortable and amazing as possible. Thank you
Rather than try to drive on Christmas Eve we thought we'd travel most of the way the day before with a short journey the next day. Where to stay? ‘Hmmm… how about Sheffield?' ‘Why?' ‘It's got a waterfront.' ‘What, a beach?' ‘Probably not.' So we booked it and the traffic was much better than attempting to negotiate the roads the day before Christmas and there's a good road right into the centre… just a hop, skip and jump to the waterfront and there ‘s the hotel. Bags of room in the carpark. Empty reception. Are we in an end of days movie? Are we the last people on earth? No… the receptionist appeared and checked us in, £7 for the carpark but if you park round the corner, by the narrowboat quays it looks free. Dark and lonely so maybe not too secure though? Anyway the room was fine, a balcony too although it was a bit cold to go out there for a sundowner gazing at the activity by the waterfront. Not that there was much… and, as it got dark, all activity ceased although the Christmas lights lit up on all the narrowboats. Which was pretty. You walk out the back door right onto the waterfront and we'd booked dinner at ‘True Loves' a couple of arches up the way, we went for a reconnoitre after unpacking. Don't wear heels, ladies, my wife found walking on the cobbles quite awkward. The area looks like it is a happening place but it was almost deserted, one table having a drink at the bar next door and one table in True Loves having cocktails (well why not, it was almost Christmas) when we went in there for a coffee. Later, when we rocked up for dinner the people were still outside the bar next door (tough Northerners, it was freezing!) and inside there was, again, one table occupied. Dinner was good (try it, you won't be disappointed) but why no-one else? The same when we left, the quays were empty, everything shut… the bar next door was tidying up as their drinkers had left. It was half past eight! I do hope next year is going to better than this one; it must be dreadful trying to run a hospitality venue with everyone scared to death by the media so staying home quaking, peeping out from behind their curtains. Slept well, it was quiet… haha! Breakfast, next morning, was fine. One other table occupied, two ladies. I think we were the only people on our floor, it was a bit eery walking about and seeing nobody at all. As I said, just like some apocalyptic end of the world movie… Cross fingers we regain our nerve next year and things pick up.
Wonderful food was served, amazing atmosphere and great service. I would truly recommend this place to my friends and family. It's good location, very close to town center. Car park available for customers.
one and half hours wait to check in waited in the bar the air con was blowing clod air room was freezing took an hour for it to warm up black mould in the bathroom bed lumpy and every time you moved it felt like the legs were going to fall off only positive very good breakfast
Lovely clean room with view over the quays, quiet, nice and warm comfortable. Firm mattress, plenty of pillows. Large bathroom with hot shower and fluffy towels. great food, burgers and steak cooked on the grill, home made soup; all very tasty served by friendly efficient staff. Large carpark, great swimming pool and gym.
I have stayed here often with work and through the challenges of the last couples of years so got to know the staff well but I treated my partner to a night out in Sheffield. The hotel and staff were great a usual but there was clearly extra effort to make our night a little more special. Thank you team Quays
Stayed in room 527 was a bit wary after reading some reviews. But excellent stay great service clean quiet room. Evening meal choice not fantastic but breakfast was good , pool and gym looked good but did not get chance to try. easy walking distance to town .Would stay again.
“Deluxe double Room with a view” if you can look past next doors massive balcony, and it's occupants quite rightly enjoying their view. Room 215 window has a gap London Underground would be proud of between its trains and platform. Had to use the hand towels to try stop the draft from the icy north wind of storm Arwen. Looks like a past guest has opened the window wide, to get onto the balcony. Needs looking at.
Good- Leisure Club, breakfast, balcony, room furnishings Very bad - A member of staff entered our room turned the light on and then left, this was before our check out time. A member of house keeping then twice knocked on our door and proceeded to try and enter the room and was only stopped when we told them they could not come in, again this was before check out time. Rubbish under the bed from previous occupants. Bed was extremely noisy.
Was given room 424, which is two rooms next to the lifts. 3-4 times a minute you could hear and feel a 5-10 second rumbling from the lift system inside your room. The receptionist was super nice and offered me a new room when I asked for it. The new room 329 is dirty, smells bad and the bed is so bad. You can feel every spring in the mattress and the entire bed is squeeking like I have never heard before, if you move an inch. The entire carpet is loose from the floor resulting in bumps everywhere on the floor. When I came in to the room there was also half a bottle of water with a chewed up lid, from a previous guest laying on the floor. When now looking through Tripadvisor I can see that I am clearly not the only one with bad experiences like. I stay at hotels approximately 150 days a year and have been doing so for the last 5 years. And amongst all these hotel stays, this one has been my worst.
As nice as the service was (Very pleasant lady that checked me out with amazing customer service) on my first night the mould in the bathroom, especially on the vent, to the point that it covered around 1/4 of the entire inlet, was so bad it caused me (a non-asthmatic) to have an asthma attack, I was in such bad shape when I made it down to reception that the receptionists repeatedly offered to call an ambulance. The room I stayed in is a health hazard, had I had asthma I may not have been able to update this review, if I could give negative I would. 0/10 would not nearly die in a dilapidated hotel room again. The bed was like concrete covered with plastic, the bathroom looked stained (See picture) and mould was growing out of fresh silica, presumable done as a quick coverup. Doors were scratched and the dust suggested it hasn't been cleaned properly in a while.
Brillant one nite stay ,staff and amenities excellent, special thanks to Sam (Manager) and Tom ( night duty manager) For helping to sort a couple of minor problems, will definatly stay again . Leisure facilities are really good used several times ,hotel secure and is situated by the canal with relaxing views. Nice decor and a good atmosphere .
This hotel is VERY tired and needs complete refurbishment. The staff are all very friendly but that doesn't compensate for the dirty state of the rooms. There was black dirt all around the balcony doors, black mould on the silicone in the bathroom and the carpet was dirty and stained. The shower was so weak that we had to go to the leisure centre to take our showers. On the positive side the towels and bed linen were clean and of a good standard and the leisure centre was of a better standard (large pool and gym as well as a sauna and steam room.
Nice reception area easy check in Large clean room. large bathroom Nice bar and restaurant area Guy behind the bar is a credit to you very friendly and chatted with us. In fact we decided to stay at the bar in our second night also because we felt very comfortable there. Girls at breakfast were also very nice chatty and helpful. Staff are a credit to you.
Was unfortunate enough to spend one night here for a meeting. I was in room 423, this room is directly opposite the lift, which means you can hear the lift going up and down the lift shaft and the ping in makes every time it arrives at floor 4. Immediately out of the lift there was an unpleasant bin smell. The room is not at all sound proofed, so you can hear everything from the lifts and your neighbours. The room is ‘heated' by a small radiator, no aircon, and the bathroom has no heating at all. The pillows are very soft and the mattress hard. Bath had someone's hair in it, so it obviously hadn't been cleaned very well. Had a set meal here, which was awful too. Didn't bother with breakfast based on the previous nights food. The buffet lunch wasn't great either! The bar was closed at 1030, with no staff around. This is definitely one of the worst business hotels I've had to stay in.
We thought we would book a weekend break in a hotel with a spa. A little RnR. Firstly check in was extremely slow. Finally checked in we headed off to our room to find someone already occupying it. We weren't the only ones to have this. Breakfast was good and spa facilities was good too.all staff helpful apart from the really rude night manager. That just looked like someone off the street with his hood up. Day 2 we got caught in the rain so was desperate to get to room to dry off. But when we tried to use our room card it had been deactivated. So we had to queue behind about 20 people that were checking in. Later that evening we came back to hotel and thought we would have a drink. It was only 10pm. Some other couples wanted a drink too. But there was no staff to be found in the bar, intact there were no staff in the 24 hr reception. The place was deserted. Not really acceptable. Room was fairly clean. But bed was that noisy I darnt turn 9ver.
Definitely would not stay again. Stained pillows, no pillow protectors, stained mattress, stained lightshade next to bed, mirror off wall, dirty hand print on bathroom doom, milk stains on cupboards, thick dust, extremely uncomfortable bed, stained towel (Big yellow stain in middle) Waiting around fir food to be cooked for breakfast, run out if glasses for juice and cutlery. Very basic.
If you like a hotel where the pillows have stains from the previous occupants, no air-conditioning, a little fan that sounds like a moped and the feel of every spring in the mattress in your back, then this is the hotel for you! It is genuinely unpleasant....
having read all the bad reviews i was worried about staying at this Hotel, we had 2 rooms and 1 was a balcony(more terrace) it was so big. Lovely clean and comfortable rooms, none of the nightmares i had read about, we were dropping daughter to Uni and we shall stay here every time we visit. Big shout out to the bar staff who were excellent.
Nice hotel, good staff, perfect for a quick getaway. Our room was excellent and facilities were great too. Lovely swimming pool and fitness centre. Balcony was brilliant space to enjoy the lovely weather
We booked in the sofa in room had started to fall to bits sat on bed to remove shoes and whole bed felt like it was about to collapse the noise it made was horrendous then the was crumbs over floor and pubic hairs in bath fantastic cleaning in covid time's (NOT) asked to be moved and this room was full of crumbs and hair I'm sink place has not long reopened would have been better for a multi million£ company to update rooms before charging public
Very disappointing! We booked an accessible room for 3 nights. We had had a long journey up from Kent - managing luggage and wheelchairs and taxis etc. We were very tired. The bathroom was not accessible for someone in a wheelchair. The shower was totally inaccessible for someone who couldn't walk as there was a two in lip on the shower tray and a narrow opening with a glass screen to one side. The wash hand basin was awkwardly placed in front of the toilet making transferring very difficult. We called reception. We called the front desk. We even called room service. No one answered. So we couldn't request a different room. I was too tired to go down and speak to the staff on the desk. So I sent them a message vis Booking.com. We decided to put up with it for one night but my wife could not shower. In the morning I was expecting a reply to my message. There wasn't one. I phoned reception to explain the problem and asked for a refund for the second and third nights. They agreed to this but when we went to the front desk they were still insistent that the shower was accessible with a wheelchair - and that was their accessible room This was very disappointing. We had hoped for the offer of compensation - such as a free breakfast but nothing was offered. The room also seemed no larger than a standard room which made manoeuvring round it difficult. My wife could not get round to the telephone at the far side of the bed. So beware this hotel ! If you need a fully accessible wet room they don't have any.
Very dated hotel. Disgusting shower curtain. Very uncomfortable bed. Very poor breakfast (nothing like in the hotel photos). Very unwelcoming staff. Definitely not 4 stars as described, 3 stars max. Swimming pool is warm but everything around it like the glass panels need deep cleaning. We chose this hotel mainly because of the pool but we rather stay at newer hotel like holiday in express across the road. AVOID AT ALL COST!
A really dated hotel- boring rooms which need deep cleaning. There is dust in teb rooms. Doors are broken. There is a musty smell in the rooms and corridors - carpets need a clean or to be replaced. Decor needs updating- There was a swimming pool and spa which we used but nothing wow about it. Not enough staff to man the front desk. Staff seem tired but friendly enough. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I have stayed in many 4* hotels in the uk and especially abroad. This is of a 3* standard.
The room was clean and well maintained. The shower in the room was super. We used the pool and whilst it was busy in the evening, there was sufficient space and in the morning it was empty. The steam room was hot!!! The jacuzzi was not operating (Covid I assume), but everything was super clean and the fitness suite was very impressive. We really enjoyed the breakfast and all the staff were super helpful. The room had a great view over the canal (this cost extra), but the rate was extremely attractive.
We paid £56 for a 1 night stay in a Queen Room ,inc breckfast on us , got there 1 hour before check in our room was ready on the 5 th floor . big room and bathroom ,ok tnere was a bit of mold on the tiles is it really a big deal . went down to use the pool in the afternoon only 6 in the pool, its lovely and big, the chap on recepion at tea time was really nice booked us a taxi to Kelham Island .slept like a log comfy beds, went down for breckfast at 9 30 in morning told there was a 10 minute wait but told you can go in and grab a hot drink or juice , a couple behind me complained about that god knows why you always get one . the young chap who was on his own in the restuarent did a superb job ,ok i noticed some of the food ran out but was replaced asap , the quality of the bacon and sausages was good ,the quality of the bread for the toast was very average ,that would nt cost much to sort , for a 1 night stay we couldnt fault it , would i stay here again of course but for 2 nights next time .
Very disappointed with this Hotel the room was dirty with only 1 towel the food was below standards and at night all we could hear is doors slamming we will not be returning to this Hotel just across road Victoria plaza lovely place with good value and quality
Stayed 3 night, very average breakfast and understaffed restaurants. Shabby rooms, dirty carpets and uncomfortable rock hard bed Mould around the bath and shower. Wouldn't stay at this hotel again and definitely wouldn't recommend
This is a good hotel to stay at, with helpful and friendly staff. Check in was straightforward and quick. There is a large car park outside so there was plenty of parking space even though at the weekend the hotel was very busy. It costs £7 per day. Twin room was spacious with a large bathroom. Very large gym as well. Easy to find via Satnav and postcode. Useful to look for Victoria Quays road lane markings at final roundabout.
Very disappointed with this hotel. Check in was changed to 3pm two days before we arrived and no prior notice was given. Rooms dated and not cleaned properly, very dusty, underneath beds not hoovered, table full of fingerprints and several spider webs hanging from the ceiling. Took photographs and complained to reception and was told they would pass it on to the cleaning team. The second day we were locked out of room for over 45 minutes as the cards that you use to activate the lifts and open the room doors were not working and the system had to be reset. On departure was told I had a balance to pay when I had paid in full on arrival, logged in to online banking to prove payment. I will never stay at this hotel again.
trip was lovely i enjoyed lovely place nice staff beutifull swmingpool breakfast really good i love to vist again this place out side view was really nice i recomend to everyone wist this hotel i love all movements thank uh
We booked at this hotel due to them having a pool but we tried 4 times yesterday in a few hour to use the pool and was told every time they was 2 many in pool we counted 14 in pool and they told use 25 are allowed in if we knew we couldn't of used the faciltys i would of booked a premier inn I think it needs to have time slots on the pool to make it fair on everyone wanting to use the pool
We stayed here in July for 2 night and what a nice clean hotel with spa facilities, half a mile from the centre of Sheffield, we were more than surprised with the hotel facilities and how friendly the staff were
Amazing experience. Staff are friendly and professional. Location is great. Facilities are great including a pool and restaurant area is lovely and relaxing with great food. Really enjoyed my stay. Highly recommended
Lovely hotel. Rooms very clean staff very friendly. Hotel in a lovely location. Overlooking the canal. Easy check in. We only had breakfast but there was plenty of choice. Covid procedures were very good throughout.
We arrived early and left things in the car and as it was raining decided to wait in the hotel for a bit. we asked if there was a bar etc. We went upstairs and no one came in 20 minutes . Reception had to find someone. We came back to the hotel in the afternoon and went to the room which was large enough for the three of us and had a balcony/patio which was nice ( although we couldn't use it as it had one chair. We went to the pool which was fine but the steam room was broken ( I saw in another review it was broken). The changiing room was a bit smelly and we didn't see any staff cleaning etc as you usually do in a pool/sauna area. Bit strange in current times. Back in the room I took a shower and the water squirted out of the hose all over the floor. I managed to tighten fixing a little between hose and tap so it was usuable. I used the toilet and the seat came off in my hand - so it was broken when housekeeping cleaned last time and nothing had been done. We went to the bar and ordered drinks. All draught beers were off. This was on a Euro semi final night! My wife ordered gammon and asked the bar girl to make sure it came with an egg and not pinepple to be told in reply'Can you see any pineapple on the menu?' In the morning we ordered breakfast at reception and went back up to the bar area and the pleasant waitress greeted us although seemed suprised and flustered that we wanted breakfast ( and no tables were laid at all). We were served a cooked breakfast of our choice which is the most sensible way in these times. However, I was suprised in a 4 star hotel that cutlery is just brought and dumped in a communal pile on the table. We went to reception to check out and mentioned the bathroom problems so they could correct them for the next guest ( if they felt inclined this time) and received a slightly accusing comment that we had not told them yesterday evening ( we didn't have time the day before to sort out the plumbing). I mentioned to the receptionist that I had TWO pending charges of the same amount from the hotel on my bank account. I was told that they had preauthorised the card and would charge it again now and the first charge should disappear. Ok I understand that but why TWO. ( one is still pending 4 days later!) I then asked her to explain the bill as it appeared to me I had paid twice for parking ( on a one night stay). I was correct and one parking charge was refunded. I never saw a supervisor or manager at breakfast, in the bar, in the pool or at reception. Maybe that's why the hotel doesn't live up to a 4 star standard.
Spent the weekend here for my boy's birthday celebrations. Such wonderful staff, couldn't fault the hospitality received. Hotel was easy to find with adequate parking. Venue as a whole was very clean, warm and inviting. Very happy and can't give enough thanks for our lovely weekend
First, the pros: it's a nice looking hotel from the outside and in a good location. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it has a good pool. Unfortunately though, the main thing - the room - was really bad. It was dated (damage to fixtures in the bathroom), the mattress and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable and, for a 'Plus' hotel I was amazed that the room had neither fridge nor aircon - and the fan in the room was broken (though it wouldn't have mattered as there was no plug socket anywhere near the bed anyway.) The general decor probably needs a sprucing up, but that's a minor quibble. Very disappointed and will make me study reviews for Best Western hotels in future.
If your traveling to sheffield in need of a hotel then I would strongly recommend the best western quays hotel I recently stayed their myself with my partner and everything was amazing the staff were perfect aswell as the hotel itself. Price was perfect for everything you get and the location is by far one of the best highly recommend this hotel for anyone in sheffield.
Fabulous service from wonderful staff. Cannot thank staff enough for making the stay here such a pleasure for my team and for me - despite Covid restrictions (highly organised processes) the staff did an amazing job of looking after us all as valued guests. Shout out to Katherine and all staff - huge thanks from my team. 5 stars!
We had a family get together here . The receptionist and staff were very friendly and helpful but they were understaffed which meant delays in service. The rooms and public areas were clean and comfortable. Pleased to see that the hotel is protected by an automatic fire sprinkler system. The hotel is located on the quays which gives access to the local entertainment bars and to the canal tourist barges. Members of the family who used the gymnasium and swimming pool were pleased .COVID restrictions were applied for our safety.
We booked a Saturday night at the Best Western Quays hotel Sheffield centre through Travelzoo. It was unbelievable value at £89. It's the ex Hilton hotel, 10 minutes walk to the shops. The room was spacious and very nice. Parking was on site and only £5 per night(I paid £17.50 in York earlier this week). We got bed breakfast and £25 per person towards a good quality evening meal too. In addition it included a bottle of Prosecco which would have cost £35 in the bar and canapes. The best deal we have had so far!
Excellent location. Staff could not have been more helpeful. An enjoyable and relaxing short break. Would stay at this hotel again if visiting Sheffield in the future. To make up 200 characters, I don't realy know what else to say.
This Hotel is ideal for a centre break in Sheffield. In the trendy Victoria keys, it is a ten minute walk to to the town centre, 15 minutes to Kelham Island and 30 mins into the lovely Peak District. The rooms were good ( we upgraded to a canal view) staff were thorough with the sanitisation and 10'o clock bar shut, but our visit was made perfect by the tirelessly working , happy, polite KERRY who was a joy be with for our 2 day stay. She is like a whirlwind, whizzing here and there and nothing is to much trouble getting drinks and serving food. Message to Management, she is a great asset to your team and needs at some time after all this Covid is over to be given a greater role to play, because she will keep your customers coming back.
What a terrible hotel. It looks like it should be lovely - "Best Western *Plus*"- nothing *Plus* about it. Booked a Superior King room - again, absolutely nothing "Superior" about it and, oddly, nothing "King" about it either. A very basic room with a double bed - if anyone can explain that? Stained carpets. Stained chair. Stained curtains. Stained footstool. Mould in the bathroom. I very rarely give a "Terrible" rating to anything, there are usually at least some positives but this time, the single positive was that the towels were fluffy and white. Certainly nothing "plus" or "superior" about either this hotel or the room. Do not be fooled as I was!
We visited for the weekend and even took our two dogs with us. The hotel staff were astounding and an absolute credit to Best Western; they were friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable of the area. Although Sheffield itself is very built up, with very little green space available, the Peak District is merely 30 minutes away. It's doubtful we'll ever return to Sheffield; however, I'm pleased to have had the experience.
We stayed in this lovely hotel in order to meet up with local family to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday. All thanks to the staff for going above and beyond the expcted level of hospitality to make our stay extra special. For such a large and seemingly impersonal space they fill it with a family feel. The bedrooms, facilities, food and security procedures are important and well done however the staff are their best selling point - they should treasure them. We have never stayed in a Sheffield hotel before, usually staying with family. We will definitely be staying with them again soon.
Room was clean and tidy - no cobwebs, mould or stains anywhere! I have no idea what the previous reviewer was on about, as this was a great hotel where the staff have go out of their way to provide a clean and safe environment. We will certainly be using the Quays Hotel again when we return to Sheffield
Stayed recently for first time in Sheffield. Very good impression on arrival, clean and spacious. Rooms large and well equipped clean and sanitised and sealed with a sticker on the door after last cleaning. Bar and restaurant service good. Not a big menu but good quality. Overall in these difficult pandemic times the Management are making great efforts to cope with a very difficult situation
We stayed on a two night deal through Travelzoo that was very good value but we almost didnt go because of a recent review that said it was awful. All I can say is that, for us, there were no problems. Spotlessly clean room (that had been taped close for 3 days prior to our arrival). TV, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, good linens and towels, tea-making etc. Lots of social distancing precautions. The real highlight though was dinner on the first night - chicken dolcelatte that looked and tasted like it had come from a top restaurant. Our second night dinner was good too. They made efforts at breakfast with hot bacon or sausage role as well as cereals, yoghurt, fruit etc but because of Covid there was no open buffet and no full English. Apparently, until recently, this hotel was a Hilton and they have been refurbishing during lockdown so maybe the earlier reviewer finished up in one of the not yet re-furbished rooms? Staff could not have been more welcoming. The hotel overlooks a canal and has outside seating on a terrace with paid parking in front of the hotel. Easy access to town and to the Peak District
Hotel was super clean all staff really helpful it was a short break 2 days for our golden wedding ANNIVERSARY menu meals great buffet for our family friends chef put a really good menu on for us Thankyou all
Room was dirty, had cobwebs, mould, stains all over carpet & curtains. Tatty furniture & trailing cables. Mattress is like laying on the floor & pillows are awful. We were late getting checked in even though the hotel was empty. We paid £19 for breakfast & simply got a coffee, yogurt & a muffin. Went to use pool facilities which we were told were all up & running now after covid & yet sauna, steamer & jazuzi were all out of service.
We stayed at the Quays for a weekend and were very pleasantly surprised. On arrival we were welcomed with a smile by the friendly receptionist. Our room was pleasant, nicely sized and had a lovely view over the canal. Nice touches were personalised chocolate bar, popcorn and fresh fruit on our arrival. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and couldn't have had better service. The food wasn't bad either! There was a really good selection of food for breakfast. There was a gym and pool that looked really good but we didn't have time to use them. The Quays is well located, easy to find and a short walk from the Emergency Services and Kelham Island museums. We have stayed at a lot of Best Western hotels over the years and this is one of the best, in no small part due to the wonderful staff. We wish them all the best over the coming months and hope to see them again before too long.
We arrived early, asked if the room was ready and was advised 30 mins. We went for a drink at the bar, the receptionist came to find us to let us know the room was ready. I had letter from managerment wishing me a happy birthday and a slice of cake in the room. The room was amazing, with a huge balcony. Best part of the hotel, is the staff. Everyone I saw, had a conversation with me. It was a change from meeting robots in other hotels I have stayed in! Leisure facilities are what you expect with a huge gym and pool. Would recommend!!!!
Live about 15 miles from the centre of Sheffield so thought we would stay over and have a little treat. The hotel parking and location is great. £5 in a taxi to all the main areas on a Saturday night or a 15 minutes walk. Breakfast was spot on and the staff really friendly. Its even better in the summer sat outside looking over the quay side.
i used best western on a number of occasions, and can say I've not been disappointed with my 2 night stay, the staff have been fantastic, pleasant and friendly, it's been good to have a conversation with really people not someone just passing the time. The food has been good for both breakfast and dinner. I have to say it's one of the largest rooms I've been in.
Hotel has recently reopened as a best western. I was pretty underwhelmed with the stay. Spa pool not working and pool quite cool. The noise levels in the hotel are pretty awful due to really bad sound proofing in the rooms. If people have their windows open the doors are constantly banging throughout the night/ coming away from stay feeling absolutely shattered because of this. Explained at reception that I'd had a really poor sleep due to noise. asked to stay in the room for an extra hour, but was refused without paying a charge. I wasnt willing to pay more. The breakfast is pretty basic and even though the hotel was very quiet we were put in a room with view of the road rather than the canal and everyone staying were pretty much booked in on the same floor next to each other- obviously easier for cleaning etc but not great for the noise. I wouldn't normally give such a disappointed review but for a two nights stay I was not particularly impressed. Pay a bit more and stay at the mecure
