"Still waiting for refund from cancelled booking due to Sydney Covid Lockdown"

User 17/07/2021

When Gladys B. annouced the snap lock down for Greater Sydney on Sat. June 26 - 3 weeks ago - I rang and cancelled our booking for the following night. I had booked this Motel thru and when cancelling, ticked the box that said "cancellation related to covid..." etc. I thought I should at least give the Motel a call and let them know first-hand asap.. Well... the guy abused me, saying that if I had booked thru him direct he would've refunded my 2 x room booking. But because I had used, he wasn't going to refund me. Then he hung up on me. I contacted and they have sent numerous emails, but 3 weeks later, nada! I will call him again, but just thought people should be aware of this guy's ehtics. Very, very unpleasant to speak with (or I should say listen to!). BTW I would never have heard of Central Motel & Apartments Queanbeyan, if not for sites like, wotif etc.

"Disappointing and overpriced"

User 22/06/2021

We were room 7. The motel promises much but delivers little. It seems it has been fashioned to service businesses with a large conference room and a large restaurant. The meals were expensive as was the beverages available at the bar. The rooms are functional and clean but basic. The air conditioner works but sounds like a 747 spooling up. In summary the rooms are in need of renovating and soon. Would probably choose elsewhere if given a choice. Clean but definitely not 4 star motel. The restaurant, bar and conference looked excellent but pricy.

"First interstate trip since lockdown!"

sandrasR5512LH, Hurstbridge, Australia 16/03/2021

The motel was in a great location, 6 min walk to the supermarket and about 10 minutes walk to the cafes and shopping precinct. The room was quiet and well presented and very clean. The grounds were very tidy and the gardens were maintained. I had a swim in a pristine pool, an added bonus! On the day of departure having locked my suitcase in my room, within minutes that problem was taken care of! And being 5am the motel staff were cheerful and bright which lessened my embarrassment and anxiety about missing my plane! Would definitely recommend and stay here in the futre.

"Dirty and run-down"

Mum1sport, Sydney 02/03/2021

This place was feral! Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. Staff were helpful but the rooms were disgustingly dirty and run down. Tv didn't work. Hair all over pillows. Stains on carpet. Fly screens ripped. Blood and snot on bathroom walls. Sink clogged. Front door hard to close. Breakfast was ok.

"Lovely newly refurbished rooms"

M0i1975, West Wyalong, Australia 15/02/2021

I booked four rooms for a family event and we were not disappointed. All the rooms were newly refurbished. Just lovely. No noise, very comfy bed and great shower. No complaints at all. Would definitely stay here again.

"Nice Motel"

Joel T, sydney, Australia 16/07/2020

I stay here on a monthly basis for business. Good service, nice rooms, convenient location, Aldi, Woolworths, Dan murphys, pubs, clubs, restaurants all within close walking distance. Staff are friendly, restaurant on site with room service.

"Basic but adequate "

investigator2, Reynella, Australia 13/03/2020

The room is large with a lot of wasted space, the bed is comfortable and the room is well maintained and cleaned Downside is the bathroom exhaust fan, it turns on with the light an emits a sound akin to a jumbo jet at take-off, the shower has two temperature settings - third degree burns and frost bite - then there's the fridge, tucked away so only the best of gymnasts can access the freezer

"Back again - but different room type..."

Andy H, Sydney, Australia 03/12/2019

This motel is conveniently placed near shops, and easily accessed. I have stayed here previously however decided this time to try an apartment with kitchen facilities and a separate bedroom. This was a ground floor room with parking available right outside. The apartment itself was light, airy and quiet, clean and well presented. Large fridge, microwave, basic but adequate kitchen facilities. Comfortable bed. Easy walk to shops and restaurant options if you opt not to use the restaurant on the property. Good value, especially if you are a business person looking for a comfortable and convenient lodging to the south of Canberra. I've tried several others in the vicinity over time, and this property is the best in the area.

"Excellent apartment"

dcrane7070, Melbourne, Australia 08/11/2019

We arrived a requested a double bedroom, and was checked in for an apartment which had large room with cooking facilities, desk, and table, large tv. Excellent bedroom with a separate bathroom which was a decent size. The bed was comfortable, and the main room had a comfortable sofa

"Business trip to ACT"

David B, Newcastle, Australia 31/10/2019

Good location close to Canberra and airport and also easy access to Queanbeyan and surrounding villages. Good buffet breakfast. Room was tidy. Room has a desk and fast wifi. Staff were courteous and helpful.

"Good location"

User 20/10/2019

Clean and comfortable. Very central. Polite staff. Stayed Thursday and Friday night. Way too noisy on a Friday night from inconsiderate guests which was disappointing and resulted in no sleep. Very slow wifi.

"Comfortable, but......"

MandyMoo29, Kogarah, Australia 13/10/2019

Good size room. Comfortable bed and quiet. However, bottom sheet on bed didn't fit, could feel mattress & mattress protector with feet. Carpet needs a good vacuuming, stepped on quite a few 'cat eye'. No room service available, even though it advertises this on the booking app I used. Had to order takeaway and then found out there was no cutlery, except a teaspoon. Radio/clock filthy.

"Short Stay"

jennypX8889SJ, New South Wales, Australia 09/10/2019

Only stayed 2 nights to attend a family wedding. the room was clean and comfortable. the family room had a kitchen and living area that served our group well. Prices were reasonable and the motel close to the town shopping centre.

"Good motel"

Keith2014, Sydney, Australia 26/09/2019

We stayed here with four of our family groups - friendly reception, clean and well set up rooms and good location. Parking fine and close to shops, pubs and restaurants. No dramas at all with motel - take care if doing online booking though - like another reviewer I thought I was booking direct but I wasn't and ended up paying significantly extra!

"Nice motel but awful customer service"

Susanev_12, NSW 03/09/2019

Stayed here for two nights while in Queanbeyan for work in a deluxe room. Furnishings were modern and the room had everything I needed. Bathroom was small but shower was good. Overall a nice room for a motel. I had breakfast on one morning and for $20 the bacon and eggs were a bit disappointing, and pretty basic breakfast selection so if you stay here I wouldn't bother with breakfast. My main gripe with this motel was the service I had at reception. Upon arrival, check in was lacklustre and not particularly welcoming. On check out (with same person) after asking for a tax invoice I was told that I had not booked through Best Western but another provider so they couldn't give me an invoice. When I queried this as I had not booked through the third party they said I had, I was met with rudeness and total unhelpfulness to solve the problem of needing a tax invoice. When I asked if they could call the third party they claimed I had booked through to double check, I was told “No, I can not”. I felt very upset and angry after this interaction and still have not received a tax invoice, either from Best Western or the supposed third party who I inadvertently must have booked with (thinking this was the Best Western website). The manager of the hotel rang shortly afterwards and left a message on my phone as I couldn't answer the call at the time. I rang back but was told he was not there and haven't heard from them since. There are lots of other motels in Queanbeyan, I'm sure with much nicer and more helpful reception staff. I won't be staying here again when I come back for work next time and I don't recommend anyone else does either.

"Great position and service"

Guide279533, Gold Coast, Australia 15/08/2019

stayed 4 nights room clean and large facilities great and close to town would stay here on my next trip did not try restaurant but will next time pool great as was reception very helpfull even church service

"Clean room, comfy bed, lovely breakfast, nice staff but v noisy neighbour!"

Jo D, Sydney 04/08/2019

Great breakfast with Douwe Egberts coffee machine, generous servings and no hassle service. Easy and fast check in. really good location near shops and restaurants. Lovely comfy bed ( quilt was a bit hot) and clean room but had issues sleeping as our neighbours were arguing loudly for ages right outside our door till 11.45 pm and we had an early start the next day.

"Good motel"

margaretjackson1609, Sydney, Australia 17/07/2019

We chose to stay in Queanbeyan as similar accommodation in Canberra is too costly during school hols. We have stayed here in the past and found it to be good value. No different this time. We had room 5 which is in the single level section so no-one overhead. Room was clean and spacious with a very comfy bed. Room is air conditioned so it can be cosy against the cold. Hotel is also within walking distance of the main street which has plenty if places to eat.

"Hardly 4 star"

User 03/07/2019

The blurb says recently refurbished, sleek and modern. Well no, it's really mutton dressed as lamb. A new wardrobe and bedhead does not equal a full refurbishment. The bath had the enamel worn away, the tiles were chipped, there was no where to store your toiletries. Shower was over bath and was quite high with no handles for support to get in and out. Bed was hard, with only a light doona, had to get 2 spare blankets out to keep warm on a sub zero night. Even then I was still cold. Electric blankets perhaps?? The air con worked, but was at least 20 years old and barely heated the small room. Hate to think what the filters were like, the was a layer or dust on the top of it, my eyes the next morning were evidence of that. There was dust on the chairs and the place really needed a coat of cheerful paint. It was also noisy, starting at 4.30 when the first tradesmen started to leave. Verandah runs along the outside of all the rooms, so everyone has to walk past your door with their trolley bag to exit. Only good thing was the water pressure.

"Busy Motel"

russell0210, Singleton, Australia 20/06/2019

Good clean and comfortable motel, I stayed here for 2 nights on my business trip to the ACT because it has a restaurant and the rooms were a good price. Very busy motel I think they were booked out both nights and the motel had atleast 200 rooms. There was plenty of parking and you could walk to a few different pubs and clubs in the area. The restaurant had nice food as well if you didnt want to leave the motel.

"Comfortable and clean "

619catherinep, Tamworth, Australia 09/06/2019

One night on a business trip, was allocated a family room which could accommodate 4. Very spacious and well set out as a self-contained room which would allow you to prepare meals if having a longer stay. The bed was very clean and comfortable and the air conditioning kept me warm. The heavy curtains blocked light and the cold. The bathroom is quite small, fine for me. If you had a family staying this could be a bit limited. I dined on site and enjoyed my meal, quick and tasty, even though they were very busy with a coach load of diners.

"Happy customer"

Suzanne P, South West Rocks, Australia 25/04/2019

I stayed here for 8 nights for an event being held at the showgrounds and found my room spacious, comfy bed, everything very clean. Shower was hot and almost instant with good pressure. Room was serviced daily, I have no problem with that. The motel was packed out but still very quite. Guest laundry and microwave was a pleasant surprise. The internet wasn't the best but that is my only gripe. would definitely stay here again, Aldi is only five mins walk.

"Almost there"

bb1513, Beaconsfield, Australia 23/04/2019

Was up here for an event at the showgrounds over Easter, check in and checkout went smoothly with friendly help. Fresh Milk was offered for Tea and coffee which is always a bonus. Room was serviced each day. Bed was reasonably comfy, although the pillows were uncomfortable, reminds me why I often travel with my own, but forgot this time. I had a second floor room, but there were no problems, the place seemed full, but you wouldn't have known it once in your room. The shower, must be the best I have ever had in a motel, good pressure, almost instant hot water, and the temperature didnt go up and down when someone 2 doors down turned on the taps. The internet was woeful, not sure if it was because they were booked full and everyone was using it, or they just have purchased a big enough plan, if it wasn't for my Hotspot it would have being a disaster. I would stay again, if they fixed the internet

"Clean but cramped bathroom"

reg3807, Lakes Entrance, Australia 19/03/2019

Check in/out was easy and staff friendly and efficient. The room was clean, bed comfortable and the two seat lounge was nice to watch tv from. The bathroom was a bit cramped with little space for toilet bag, although bathroom toiletries were supplied. The shower is good with removeable showerhead hand held. I had ground floor room, with parking at the door. Would I stay again definitely without hesitation.

"Stay elsewhere "

User 23/02/2019

Clean enough, bed comfortable but far more expensive than other local options. Housekeeping are unprofessional and a nuisance. Four times in one day knocking at the door and entering without waiting to see if room was occupied. Several occasions not knocking at all. Removing towels and not leaving clean ones and while I was in the pool watched while my room door was left open and the housekeeper came downstairs to get cleaning supplies. No care taken or consideration for the security of my belongings. Kitchen utensils are dated, plates chipped. Towels and face washers had holes in them. Charged a higher rate than quoted on my credit card and was also almost charged for mini bar items I didn't consume. Stay elsewhere!!

"Long weekend stay for family reunion"

User 14/01/2019

Very friendly staff and great central position. Walked into shopping mall and also out for tea. We had 4 adults in 2 br serviced apartment on 2nd floor. Small 2nd bedroom with no robe, but beds were comfy. Expected full service but bottom sheets left messy, no fitted sheets. Oven, floors and bedside tables not clean on arrival and not cleaned for whole of stay. The pool was enjoyable, but no shade and gritty on the bottom. Only 2 towels left on service not 4.

"Best hotel in Queanbeyan"

Frequent_os_Travella, Wonboyn, Australia 28/11/2018

I always stay at the Best Western, Queanbeyan Central Motel and Apartments when I have to attend Queanbeyan or Canberra. I found it to be value for money and central to the CBD of Queanbeyan. Staff are always friendly, and the rooms are always clean and comfortable.

"Great Budget Motel"

jac912015, Brisbane Region, Australia 13/11/2018

Nice rooms, everything you need, helpful staff. Has a lovely pool with space to sit around. Very good for the price. The Motel is very big, but quite considering its u shape and lots of rooms. Has lower ground rooms up to three floors but does have a lift. Very comfy and worth the price.

"Looks can be deceiving, this is better than it appears"

Drivingdiners, NSW 29/10/2018

THe motels website said it had been completely renovated, and yes apart from the obviously older building shape the rooms we saw and motel facilities are right up to date. The staff are courteous, friendly and on the ball - a pleasure to deal with. The restauarant is spacious, modern and comfortable- we only had there but that was a very good meal. Our room had been renovated to a very good standard, very comfy bed, cupboards etc all well placed and plenty of space to move about. Bathroom was small but well planned and finished. My only reservation was the carpet- it did not seem to match the decor or standard/condition of the rest of the room so perhaps was the original carpet. Nevertheless the room was spotless. Our room was ground floor, at the back of the motel and very quiet.

"Comfy motel"

coota21, Traralgon, Australia 16/10/2018

We stayed 2 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment. Well set up with full kitchen amenities & mini bar. TV in lounge & one in bedroom. Very central to city centre of Queanbeyan & a short drive to Canberra. Would definitely stay here again & would recommend for other travellers.

"Affordable Motel "

User 12/10/2018

I stayed the motel for my partners exam in the suburb. I appreciate for their swift replies each time we contacted them however I need to mention that there is room for improvement in their customer service and tidiness. I found a dead fly in the bathroom and stains in the towel provided. Obviously they have provided 2 tubes of body gel instead of shampoo. Our door was opened by staff before we answered them and I was in my nightwear. I work in the hospitality industry and I totally understand that I stayed in a motel, not a hotel. Still I believe their housekeeping area needs to be trained more.

"Not too bad"

khalk2014, Sydney, Australia 06/10/2018

The room was a good size for 2 adults with 2 kids. The pillows were very soft and bed was not very comfortable. There was a stain on the bed sheets. There was mould in the shower. It was ok for an overnight stay.

"Luxury at a buget price"

Carriesand, Adelaide 29/09/2018

We stayed here for two nights during a visit to Canberra for the Floriade. Our room was on the top floor, lift worked perfect each time which was a relief. Situated in the heart of Queanbeyan close to all shopping..Aldi, Woolworths, Dan Murphy's ect just opposite. Very modern clean room, quite spacious nice shower, comfortable bed.

"Nice hotel, shocking service"

heathersultana77, Sydney, Australia 28/09/2018

Hotel is nice looking. Room was not overly clean nor were the windows (food smears). Cleaners were stripping beds 45 mins before checkout time with door wide open while we were in the restuarant for breakfast... our personal items including handbag were taken off bed and left inside the open door. Staff didnt care about our complaint at all

"Over Priced, Over Rated"

User 05/09/2018

Where to begin? The house keeping was absolutely appalling! -Underneath the beds had not been cleaned in a long time, it had substantial build-up of dust, as well as several wrappers, empty bottles, and even an old pizza box that had been left by previous occupants. At no point during my 4 day stay was this rubbish removed, I know this to be the case as I didn't discover it until I checked under the bed for the last of my belongings on departure, only to find a multitude of rubbish that had not been purchased by either myself or anybody who was residing in that room with me. - The spare blankets in the cupboard had not been cleaned during my stay, my daughter had used one on the first night of our stay and spilled a little bit of milk on it, so we had left it out with our dirty towels the following morning to be washed/replaced. On the third night we went to use a spare blanket from the cupboard and instead of the original being washed/replaced, the same blanket was refolded and placed back into the cupboard still dirty with a hard dry patch of milk, which begs the question of how often they actually are washed (if at all) and how long had it been sitting dirty in the cupboard from its previous use before our arrival. - The mugs provided had not been cleaned, I had used one to give my daughter a drink of milk one night, this cup was then left out with the lid off, beside our used breakfast plates and tray for room service to clean/replace the next day. When i went to use it again the following day, the same cup had not been cleaned/replaced, but had simply been put back into the cupboard with its lid on, with a ring of dried curdled milk around the rim as well as the inside base of the cup. - The bathroom had a strong smell of urine on day 1. This smell continued for our whole stay and was only aided by the use of our own personal deodorants. The smell was reminiscent of a public men's room that had not been mopped in a long time. Furthermore both the sink tap, and shower head had (still has?) large build ups of gunk inside, to the point it was protruding through the gauze at the end of the tap and shower head, putting us off having a shower or using the tap water for tea/coffee. We opted to get room service dinner the first night, as we had a long drive and could not be bothered to go out for food. Had to first argue with the receptionist over price (tried to charge me a considerable amount more for each meal then was advertised in the in-room menu, as well as tried to deny that the meal came with a complimentary drink and ice-cream, despite it clearly saying so in the menu). The food in the meals were ok, average quality, but definitely not worth how expensive they were. Furthermore the meals were brought out to us in multiple separate trips, as the staff had first forgotten cutlery, then forgotten our drinks, then our gravy, then our ice-cream. Although I appreciate receiving my Ice cream still cold after my meal, I fail to understand why it took several attempts to provide us with the food, cutlery and drinks. Oh, and they try and charge you $6 every time they come to your room!! The following morning we had room service breakfast already pre-ordered (rooky mistake on my end), the scrambled eggs were powdered eggs, 'toast' was chewy bread with a slight gold texture, bacon was under cooked, cold, and tasted like it had been cooked the day before. Wouldn't be so much of an issue if it was priced accordingly, could have gotten breakfast cheaper at a gourmet cafe! We ate out for every other meal during our 4 day stay. If you opt for the breakfast option, i'd recommend the over priced cereal, at least you know what you are getting. This was definitely not the experience I was expecting from a 4-Star hotel, and a Best Western.

"Cheap, cheerful, clean and comfy"

WaggaTraveller, Wagga Wagga 10/08/2018

Easy check in. Ample parking. Fresh milk offered on arrival for tea and coffee making in room which was a lovely surprise (UHT milk is awful). Hot shower with amazing pressure. Good heater. Comfy bed. Clean. Tidy. Comfy.

"Queanbeyan stay"

Frequent_os_Travella, Wonboyn, Australia 01/08/2018

Hotel met my expectations as per normal, however, on this occasion WiFi left a lot to be desired. Perhaps more people were using it than usual. Having said this we would befinitely stay here again as it is close to all the venues that we enjoy attending.

"Comfortable. Clean. Modern. Helpful."

Meegan C, Manly Beach 28/07/2018

Staff were great on check-in (unplanned stay). Apartment (they have rooms and apartments) was clean, smelt lovely. Modern and simply styled furnishings - Other motels in the area and very old school floral. 2 reverse cycle heaters, worked perfectly, so nice and warm. Queit location. Mini bar and room service - which is a bonus in a motel at this affordable rate. Family owned - thus your money goes to a good home. I read some of the previous reviews about cleanliness, and can say, management must have upped the game, as the bathroom was spotless.

"Very comfortable motel"

mcgirl07, Sydney, Australia 21/07/2018

We enjoyed a recent stay at the Best Western on our way back from the snow. Very spacious and clean room with a great kitchenette. A few minutes walk to local Aldi and Woolworths if needing to self-cater. Easy access to Canberra. Nice breakfast delivered to room if required. Very friendly staff at reception.

"Old school and needs a clean"

User 08/07/2018

Great price for a 2 bedroom apartment close to Canberra - but the shower was mouldy. So mouldy, I didn't shower my kids. Very old school with stairs to get to your leave and on situated in the middle of the complex.

"top quality rooms"

gwilliams58, Melbourne, Australia 29/06/2018

rooms were very clean balcony from room plenty of room in room not cramped a desk a table for meals very comfortable bed bathroom was clean and a good size reception was well manned most by 2 very polite ladys it was in middle of town close to everything

bevm220, Sydney, Australia 28/06/2018

10 out of 10, could not fault anything, room very clean, very quiet room, had everything you need. Stayed in Executive Queen, parked at door. Continental breakfast excellent. Staff attentive. Great happy hour with $4 drinks.

"Neat & Clean"

User 11/06/2018

My wife & I spent a night in a standard room. It was a good size & well laid out. The bathroom was a bit tight & the shower screen was a little difficult to operate. The heating was via a wall mounted split system air conditioning unit which worked well but was a bit noisy. Overall a pleasant stay.

"A Nice Suprise"

marteneh2014, Frankston 07/06/2018

Staff are very helpful and friendly. Accommodation was great and looked newly renovated with great facilities. Restaurant was delightful, staff made you feel like you were a guest in their home. Food was lovely, happy hour was even better. Thank you for a great stay.

"Good location and a busy little spot"

Sean A, Gold Coast 16/05/2018

With everything in ACT booked I decided to try this location. On initial opinion it looks like a motor in but it was an ok location for a night. The rooms whilst upgraded at some point still are a little dated. Half the TV channels didn't work and had sound only. Room service was ok even though I asked for no dairy I still got a dollop of creamy sauce but it was busy in the restaurant so that's ok. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean with good water pressure. Plenty of parking but most of the rooms are up one or two flights of stairs so be mindful when booking ask for a ground floor room if access is an issue for you. Ok location if you need a bed to lay your head on with easy access to most of ACT 20 minutes away.

"Clean, neat, close proximity to main street. "

User 05/05/2018

I stayed with my husband and 6yo son. This suited us quite well. Has a decent size kitchenette in our room a good ause bedroom with a queen bed and a single bed in living area. Has a table and chairs for eating but the base of the table doesn't allow you to put the chairs very close to the table. The lounge was reasonably comfortable but the faux leather was peeling off quite badly. The shower had good pressure which i love. Some of the towels have seen better days and need an upgrade. The hotel is a short walk to aldi, woolies, kmart and many other shops and pubs. All in all though, I'd stay here again

"Great Location for Canberra"

cgdoughty, regional nsw 25/04/2018

Have stayed at BW Qbn many times. Always know what we are getting for the price. Its a great location for Canberra attractions without the Canberra prices. Staff are terrific, no traffic noise, rooms always clean and well presented, variety of room types to choose from. Happy to recommend to other travellers.

"Best Western Queanbeyan"

Frequent_os_Travella, Wonboyn, Australia 09/04/2018

The best accommodation in Queanbeyan in my view. Central to CBD, pubs, supermarkets and restaurants (and shops of course) all of which are within a short walking distance from the hotel. A definite for us.

"Clean rooms, excellent ammenities."

User 23/03/2018

Really nice motel with clean rooms and good service. Rooms modern on the inside and very clean. Outside looks a bit dated but excellent for the price! Car spaces included in the price too which is excellent and there was a complimentary breakfast (continental - had to pay an extra $10 for a hot breakfast).

"Neat, clean, well appointed"

S C, Melbourne, Australia 10/03/2018

Stayed here for two nights midweek. Room was very clean and tidy. Bed was comfy, and all room amenities were as you'd expect for this type of accommodation. Dining room looks like it might have been recently refurbished, again very neat and clean. Restaurant menu isn't overly exciting, but that was OK because it had the basics/staples. I ate a steak one night and it was cooked exactly as ordered. Overall, I was very satisfied to stay here and would again

jennyc212017, Mittagong, Australia 21/02/2018

Staff fabulous, sadly room not so. Lounge in room was like a reject from Op Shop, tattered and shabby. Bed horrendous, lumpy and with little support. Room very clean, apart from the green mould hiding in the shower. Very surprised restaurant and bar not open on a Sat night. Would benefit from owners spending some money on refurb.

"Extremely dissappointed!"

dimerritt, Sydney, Australia 18/02/2018

Usually if I stay in a motel more than one night I put out the do not disturb sign because I don't like housekeepers in my room. Well, I forgot and when I returned that afternoon I found that the housekeeper(s?) went through all of my belongings, mainly my vanity case, I'd assume looking for medication. I immediately told the reception staff and was told that the manager would be informed and be in touch with me. I checked out the next day only to realize I had left a dress hanging in the closet, my fault I admit. I called, but of course, the housecleaning staff did not find anything left in the closet, even though I know I left out the iron and ironing board that would need to be put back in that cupboard by the staff. Clearly it was found an liked! Management seems not to care that there is a thief (or thieves) on staff as here it is 5 days later and I have still not been contacted by management. Not I, nor anyone from my very large organization, will be staying there ever again!

"Basic but clean and comfortable "

Deborah A, Sydney, Australia 27/01/2018

Good value for the price. Lots of amenities, pool, bar, restaurant, room service etc. Rooms are comfortable. Ground floor apartments are good as you can park next to the door, easy for disabled or elderly people. A small gripe is rooms could do with a refurbishment and new towels.

"Canberra for a three day break."

heatherd1134, Winmalee, Australia 17/01/2018

We recently stayed at the Best Western Central Motel for a couple of nights. After doing quite a bit of research it appeared to be best value for money and only a very short drive to the many Canberra attractions. The price included a continental breakfast. We had a recently refurbished family apartment which was clean and comfortable and nicely appointed. The motel has a pool which was great on the hot afternoons after a busy day. Staff were very friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend it as a place to stay, especially with children.

"Very comfortable family accommodation "

TerryB202WA, Perth, Australia 07/01/2018

Stayed a couple of nights in one bedroom family apartment with wife and our three teenagers. The apartment size was adequate, newly refurbished and perfectly clean. The beds were very comfortable, had quality sheets and pillows, and the air con was very cool and quite. The full breakfast plus continental was excellent and the dining room impeccable. Jennie on the front desk was very helpful and pointed us in the fright direction for an excellent dinner at the lime leaves. We enjoyed the stay.

"Our Visit to Canberra "

Y3363HArichardw, St. Bees, United Kingdom 02/01/2018

Really great value for money! Checked in by a very friendly and informative Jennie. Room clean and comfortable. Nice outside pool which we all used. Only 5 min walk to centre of town. For the upper floor (3) lift / elevator available .

"Best Western in Queanbeyan - Great Accommodation"

Malcolm C, Mandurah, Australia 21/12/2017

Stayed 5 nights at Best Western Central Motel & Apartments in Queanbeyan. A daily serviced room with bed made, swimming pool easy to get to and very clean. Pleasant staff and a good location with short walk in to town center.

"Very thoughtful receptionist"

YolkandWhite, Central Coast 20/12/2017

We had not given an ETA and lost track of time at a birthday celebration outside of town. As we drove to the motel we noticed it was already 9.20pm....a friendly text message arrived on the mobile with full description of where to and how to locate the key to our room. Room was spacious and both it and bathroom exceptionally clean. Comfy bed and quiet too.

"Pleased simple comfortable "

LauLauMS, Sydney, Australia 13/12/2017

Stayed here for a work related training, staff very friendly. Conference room had carpet that has seen better days I think they might need to replace it soon. Room comfortable though bathrooms need a bit of a update the shower was particularly tiny for those of us beautifully plus sized. Ate dinner at the restaurant and found the meal lovely crumbed pork with a mash and veg with a delicious creamy sauce and the chocolate pudding while a commercial option not made on site was equally tasty and I was well satisfied. Breakfast had variety though if you order a coffee from the bar which is far better then the one in the breakfast area you may need to wait a while, worth it nice coffee. Happily stay again

"Near Shopping.."

Eleasha, Singapore 01/12/2017

It takes 20mins drive from Canberra town to here. Location is good if you intend to go to their Factory Outlet nearby. The mall, K-Mart and Coles were just nearby. The staffs were great and friendly & my check-in was smooth. We stayed on the 2nd floor and there was lift to bring us up.

"If elderly don't stay here"

zachant1, Sydney, Australia 29/11/2017

I booked this motel for my parents who are elderly and find stairs hard to do. They were booked on the first floor which has no lift. The staff offered to move them to a ground floor room which was smaller for the same amount. When asked if they would refund the difference they were told no. Parents kept upstairs room which meant that they struggled getting bags upstairs ( staff didn't offer to help). Due to the room they chose to stay in the room more than if they were put in a better room or if it was stated that there was no lift. They missed out on some family gatherings as it was easier for them to stay inside the room.

"Terrible noise levels and bad behaviour from a large contingent of young people who were booked into this motel."

User 28/11/2017

On checking in I discovered the motel was fully wasnt until later that I was informed it was mainly booked by very young people who were all there to attend a music festival in Canberra. The noise levels were terrible...rang reception twice before 10pm to complain about the noise. One staff member was fantastic, the other said she couldnt hear any noise and wasnt any help. Unfortunately, staff finish work at 10pm, and I made two more phone calls, one at 12.30am, and another at 1.30am about the noise. Any calls made after 10pm go through to a phone service. I was advised they would contact a local security firm to come by. Judging by the continued noise, I would suggest that no security came by. The shouting, banging on motel room doors, running up and down the verandahs etc continued until abut 2.30am. I had 4 hours sleep and it ruined my planned outing the next day, with me returning home much earlier than anticipated. With a music festival in town, the motel fully booked with young people and having received two noise complaints before 10pm, I was disgusted that staff did not anticipate that the noise would escalate or put procedures in place for that weekend to deal with the unruly behaviour. I would never use this motel again.

"Value for money - a pleasure to stay"

Frequent_os_Travella, Wonboyn, Australia 25/11/2017

This hotel is always a pleasure to stay at. The staff always go that further distance to ensure that my stay is a pleasurable one, whether its just passing through on my way overseas or just a a weekend visit to get away from home life.

"Central location, quiet with a good restaurant"

Fencesitter63, Albury, Australia 16/11/2017

Business stay, good restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Clean, well thought out rooms. Happy to recommend this motel for business travel. Check in process quick and easy, helpful staff in restaurant. Walking distance to main street for coffee/lunch cafes.

"Roadtrip, Great Ocean Road, The Grampians."

User 12/11/2017

Nice motel for staying over night, in our case for a roadtrip to the Great ocean road and grampians. Pool, BBQ and Breakfast all on site. nice helpfull staff. Motel is a bit remote from the center of the town but right across Woolworths and Kmart. Nice, clean room.

"Well equipped 2 bedroom apartment "

Lisa C, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia 10/11/2017

Very impressed with our accommodation here. We were upgraded by the lovely receptionist from our original booking of a shared room to a two bedroom apartment. Very clean and comfortable, full kitchen with stove oven and microwave. Mini bar and snacks available in room. Nice toiletries provided. Comfy bed, good shower and plenty of space. Everything we needed after a long day of work.

"Never Again"

I3620WLsimonc, Griffith, Australia 10/10/2017

Room was cleans but subjected to people smoking outside of rooms subjecting you to their habits, not one off as motel supplied the ash trays. Bed was terrible and the internet constantly dropped out. I asked if they had a restaurant to eat at and was told yes, but neglected to say it was not opend during weekends

"A quieter location with short walk to shops and many eateries"

Aditya G, Bundanoon, Australia 30/09/2017

A large group of us stayed a week for business. I didn't hear any complaints from the group. All feedback about the motel was positive. I had a room that was a little more sheltered from the extensive car park. But we were still woken by earlier departures and folks who didn't seem to care that slamming doors on rooms or cars might be a bit intrusive. But otherwise, it was a quiet location, yet was easy to walk to supermarket and many restaurants and some cafes. The door of the room didn't close properly - it was secure, but rattled badly with even slight breeze. The free wi-fi worked, but barely, and especially at peak times, was worse than useless for all of us, to the point were we stopped using it and switched to phone-based hot spots, all of which, even 3G, were much quicker. Other than that, everything worked as it should, and the rooms were nicely renovated. The motel buildings are quite old but the interiors are modern and functional.

"Clean and convenient"

Anne K, Sydney, Australia 22/09/2017

Very clean and comfortable room - a little bigger than expected. Staff were welcoming and helpful. We had a room on the ground floor which meant a little bit of noise first thing in the morning as people drove away (parking is directly outside the rooms) but it wasn't a big problem. Good place to stop to break a long trip.

"Need to improve "

User 14/09/2017

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in a double. The bed was comfortable, room cosy, friendly staff, didn't like how the motel had sheet dispenser for toilet paper instead off toilet rolls. They need a do not disturb sign for the door if you want to sleep in. The room attendant came and knocked on the door at 9.30am. She started opening door before I got a chance to answer her. Not everyone gets up early when on holidays. We should have been asked this opinion at check in if we wanted our room made up or not.

"Pretty Good Overall"

Adamvdrake, Windsor, Australia 03/09/2017

Pretty good overall. Friendly staff, plenty of parking, the rooms themselves appear to have been recently renovated, however, they seem to have forgotten the roof of the Bathroom (mould in Rm 5) and around the window. However, would stay again.

"No complaints"

User 21/08/2017

Comfy bed, decent TV, hot shower with little temperature fluctuation. Towels a little small. Heater is decent for cold nights. Parking is a little tight (not much room for my Nissan Patrol). Staff were very friendly and the rooms were fairly sound proofed.

"Very impressed!"

Corrin W, Soldiers Point 16/08/2017

Every shop you need just around the corner. A short drive to central Canberra. Modern, spacious and clean rooms. Great price for 5 people. Free parking. Definitely recommend and will stay again in the future.

"Visiting family nearby"

Bruce W, Adelaide, Australia 01/08/2017

This hotel is just around the corner from our kids and grand kids (no room for the grandparents). Stayed on numerous occasions and nearly always book on Staff are friendly and welcoming and aware of return visit this time. Suggested join the best western rewards program and book direct next time. (Which we have done) Room is clean and comfortable. The bed is ok. The layout of the rooms we book are similar or identical, although our last visit the bathroom was especially small and the exhaust fan was over the top noisy (room 3) For the money in Queanbeyan this is most convenient for us and we will return. If you are looking for an 'overnighter' this place is fine.

"Nice stay"

Aussietravller1, Sydney 29/07/2017

Recently refurbished room, very clean and comfortable. However, the star of the stay was the restaurant. The steak meal was better than steaks I have had in Michellin star restaurants. That and a lovely cheese platter and excellent apple pie dessert. Absolutely perfect.

"Queanbeyan for fun"

Frequent_os_Travella, Wonboyn, Australia 20/07/2017

The Best Western Central Motel & Apartments, Queanbeyan, is a great priced hotel placed within a 5 minute walking distance of the Queanbeyan CBD, which has some great restaurants. The rooms are clean and tidy and the staff will help with any problems you may (which I never have encountered) occur.

"Work based overnight stay for training"

User 11/07/2017

What lovely affordable accommodation, clean, tidy standard room. Lovely custom service at reception, check in staff were well spoken, informed and engaging. Lovely meal, menu well explained and representative of expected meal. Overall a very positive experience

"Comfortable stay"

User 08/07/2017

Being a short walk to the shops etc makes it a great place to stay whilst in Queanbeyan. The room was very clean and well maintained and is a good size. The reception staff are really friendly and helpful also. All in all a good place to stay.

"Good motel for the money"

736W, Portsmouth, United Kingdom 01/05/2017

Stayed here whilst visiting family and I was surprised how busy it was, the pool area was clean but too cold to use although a heated pool was available over the road for a few dollars. The area was clean and the cleaning stuff were very good, we never ate in the restaurant but it looked well set up. Try to avoid room 213 as it's next to the outside stairs and some hotel guests arn't as considerate as they could be. Within easy walking distance to the shops and town it was a pleasant stay.

"Typical regional city motel"

Robert S, Adelaide, Australia 10/04/2017

Hotel full of tradies so a bit of noise from people unwinding after work. Also noise from trucks and work vans leaving very early in the morning Good locale very close to shops and restaurants. Good foxtel choice Room clean with all the esentials

User 27/03/2017

Booked the Best Western based upon reviews of it being clean, etc. We arrived and wondered what we were in for as the exterior is very dated. Decided to check in & see what the room was like. The room was excellent - especially for the price! We were in a normal room (queen bed, no kitchen) on the top floor. It has been totally renovated - nice bed, new bathroom, etc. Very clean & comfortable. Had a great sleep both nights we were there. Would definitely stay there again.

"Noisy hotel, some desk staff impolite"

peter r, Bangkok, Thailand 24/03/2017

Rooms 1-12 have an annoying compressor noise.Had to move. Restaurant food and room service b/fast quite good. Restaurant waitress crosses boundaries. Older female desk staff dismissive and rude. Noisy rooms with workmen guests on their phone outside in the carpark and outside their rooms talking until late at night. Pakastani restaurant waiter and room service very efficient and kind. Erratic hot-water pressure. Excruciatingly slow internet service. Impossible to do after-hours work. Very noisy central carpark.

"Comfortable country motel "

ozrick33Sydney, sydney 21/03/2017

A last minute trip to Canberra was problematic as there were no rooms available in the city so we found ourselves staying in Queanbeyan. That's not onerous as Canberra is about 20 minutes drive away. Clearly this motel has had a major refurbishment a few years ago as the rooms have a modern feel about them and look quite fresh. The deluxe room was very clean and comfortable. We were surprised there were no herbal teas in the room but that is only a small issue. Overall we were very happy with the price and the facilities.

"Not what I expected. "

User 12/03/2017

I spent the last two nights at the Best Western in Queanbeyan. I have to say I am leaving with the intention of never visiting again. While the rate was excellent, everything else was not good. The toilet had a terrible stench. It was so bad that we had to hold our breath while going. That issue needs attention asap. The room in general was run down. The lounges were all peeling and we were not prepared to even sit on them. Looked horrible. The kitchen light switch did not work. The window sills were filthy. In the morning, the sun was steaming straight through the bathroom window. We couldn't see as we had to squint in there. While the sun cannot be helped, a blind is definitely necessary. The floors were also filthy. My 5 year old son's feet were black from walking around with his shoes off. The shower took about 5 minutes to heat up which is a lot of wasted water. I'm sorry to be writing such a bad review, but this motel claims to be 4 star. Definitely not. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment upstairs. The hotel lobby and restaurant looked immaculate and modern... this style was definitely not reflected in our apartment. Very disappointing.

"Business trip"

Duncan M, Young 19/11/2016

Rooms are large and were clean. Bathroom had been updated but was basic. No noise as off the main traffic roads. Room rate a little high but was last minute and Canberra was booked out. Well located close to main commercial area got a great steak from the pub.

"Good for the price and location."

OverU, Canberra, Australia 09/11/2016

For overnight stays this place is ideal. The rooms are quiet and clean, the bed comfortable, sheets crisp and snugly and pillows supportive. This hotel does not presume to offer much entertainment or luxury, and for sleeping, that is not important. I slept well, shower was hot and the location convenient for morning pastry and coffee. A very satisfactory experience.

"1 night stay"

4tbags, Shellharbour 18/10/2016

We stayed here mid Oct 16 for 1 night, I read the reviews here on Tripadviser it was ranked number 1. The cost for the 1 night stay was $130 which is about average price these days. The rom it self was clean & tidy with a double bed, small table, desk & 2 seater lounge. The bathroom was clean & had toiletries supplied. There was plenty of Tea & Coffee they give you a small botle of milk when you check in. The only faults we found was opening the window was hard to do, it didn't want to slide open. The other problem was you have to bang the door closed so when there are people leaving in the early hr's in the morning you can hear the doors being slamed shut, not a good way to start your day. The night we stayed it was windy so we had to listen to the loud howling wind noise most of the night, as the room we stayed in (361) was right next to the stair well. Other than that all was fine

"Clean room at a good price"

km732016, Tumbarumba, Australia 02/10/2016

It has been a few months since we stayed here and is still a good deal. The rooms are very clean and the price was good ($170) considering Floriade is on and it was the long weekend. There were no vacancies left when we arrived, which probably explains why our room ran out of hot water the next morning; however, it should be noted that we have never had that problem before, and we did leave showering till later in the morning. The only unpleasant part of our stay (other) than the hot water running out, was witnessing a manager yelling at a member of the cleaning staff in the carpark. Not a good look for the motel and certainly not a professional way to manage people. Otherwise a good stay and we will return on our next trip to Canberra.

"Surrender your self respect "

PGerard, Sydney 30/09/2016

Just checked-in to this allegedly "4 star" property. But for Canberra hotels being booked out I would have abandoned the booking just as I abandoned any dignity when I saw the unmade room I was checked into. Presented with a small milk after queuing at reception it is better than sleeping rough on a cold canberra night but not by much. The stay has just commenced and I am fearful of the horrors that might present later.

"Good stop over "

salmonator, Sydney 07/09/2016

Room was a great size with good side kitchen and bathroom. Downside was how long the room to to warm up and the beds weren't overly comfy but for the budget price it was ok. Staff were pleasant and parking was good. Good experience for a budget hotel.

"Modern, clean, warm and welcoming Motel"

SophieLoveOz, Ellenborough, Australia 07/09/2016

Fantastic Motel. Modern rooms, comfy beds and pillows, warm and welcoming. Very helpful Reception staff as we didn't like the position of the first room we were allocated and were moved with no drama. Immaculate rooms and bathroom. Really good value. very happy!

"Overnight visit for a birthday party"

Janine C, Tuross Head, Australia 04/09/2016

Stayed for one night on a Sunday night, and got a discount for the night, We had a birthday party to go to at midday on that day and that day and they were kind enough to allow us to book in at 11.30 and take our bags to the room. This was at no extra charge, so thankyou for that. We arrive back at the motel at around 7.30 pm and turned the heater/aircon on. Had to have it set at 30 deg but still took a long time to heat the room, and when we lay on the bed around the corner, the heat didn't reach that far. After several hours the room finally heated so we were comfortable. No electric blankets on the bed either. Other than this, the room was comfortable and clean and we had an ok stay. Free wifi was good.

"Comfortable, clean and quiet"

David W, Sydney, Australia 28/08/2016

An older style motel but it has obviously been refurbished not so long is close to shops and restaurants but is in a side street and very quiet. There is ample parking and, for once, the spaces are large enough that you would have to be unlucky to get a ding in a door. The bed was comfortable and the shortbread cookies were very nice, thank you very much.

"Good value motel in Queanbeyan"

678DJB, Brisbane, Australia 23/08/2016

Clean. Fresh smell rather than musty. Comfortable beds. Blankets supplied as well as doonah (I prefer blankets). Good flow shower. Hair dryer, etc. All shampoos and soaps (toiletries) provided, washer, free WiFi that worked well. A lift for second floor luggage access.

"Good hotel with very helpful staff"

Robert J, Hobart 17/08/2016

Queanbeyan - about 15 minutes drive from central Canberra - is a bit of a poor cousin to the shiny national capital. It looks and feels like every other NSW country town. It's hard to find somewhere decent to eat a late lunch after about 3pm, though the Royal Hotel serves a good evening meal. There are many motels. Many many motels. We stayed a few days at the Best Western. It is a pretty "typical" country motel, though it does have a few welcome extras: - there a small kitchenette area with a microwave, crockery etc.; - the apartments have separate living area (with a single bed in it) and a main double-bed bedroom; - TV in living room and another in bedroom; - heater in living rooms and another in bedroom; - minibar; - restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner, and has a bar (you don't have to eat to have a drink at the bar); - very helpful and efficient staff at Reception. There is free wifi, but it's a bit hit-and-miss. So it isn't anything "special", it isn't five-star, it's a good, honest, clean country motel with good staff and a few welcome extras. It's close to the centre of town.

"One night in Queanbeyan"

RitaTop, Sydney, Australia 26/07/2016

We stayed at the Best and Western for one night. The room was very spacious and clean and was in a great central location. Very impressed that it had a mini bar. What was more attractive the value for money. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

"Well positioned"

User 16/07/2016

Stayed here for 4 nights in a downstairs room and were completely satisfied. Clean, good size room. Air con heating kept us from freezing and hot water pressure good. We have no complaints with noise and we had quite a few children staying at same time and they were good. Being so central is a real bonus. The only complaint would be that the cleaning lady knocked once and opened the door- hello??????? Embarrassing to say the least.

"Good value for price"

User 10/07/2016

We stayed here for two nights in a family apartment. (2 adults, 3 children) The room was very clean and up to date. Sofa bed was made up ready for us for a late check in. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Maybe a little more information such as check out time should be provided. One big problem is the noise. We stayed on the second level and the noise from opening/closing doors, walking in the room above us was loud enough to constantly wake all of us a number of times.

"Quick getaway "

User 14/06/2016

Great room size, comfortable bed and pillows. Suitable mini bar choice. It was clean and spacious. Front of house were professional and well dressed. Just a pity that other patrons could not respect others by keeping quiet.

"Recommended for business visits"

Kirsty B, Sydney, Australia 09/06/2016

Good for business visits, you have what you need and the price is reasonable. The internet was a bit slow, but they did give fresh milk at check in. The room was very clean and the soaps that were provided were great. If I need to go to Queanbeyan again for business I'll definitely come back.

"Great Place to Stay While on the Road"

SharonJB, Eden, Australia 08/06/2016

Very clean, comfortable apartment style room handy to city centre and some very good restaurants. However, we were upgraded to an apartment which was very spacious and with full kitchen facilities. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful Will stay again when in the area

"Great place to stay"

ppeettaa, Queanbeyan, Australia 27/05/2016

Fantastic place to stay. Friendly staff, very welcoming. The rooms are a great size, very clean and well attended each day. Only down side is the bedding- mattresses and quilts are covered only with sheets causing you to get tangled and wake up on a mess of uncovered bedding, which is not all that pleasant.

"Does the job"

Polly M, Bristol, United Kingdom 17/05/2016

I recently stayed at the Best Western in Canberra with two friends. We had two rooms between us and both were very clean and spacious with good facilities e.g. cups, plates, kettle etc. The staff were very friendly and took the time to explain a map of the local area to us. The hotel was in a good location- easily accessible from Canberra with plenty of parking spaces. I would definitely stay here again if I was in Canberra.

"Clean and very comforabe"

tripanan, Orange, Australia 13/05/2016

Our apartment here was fantastic plenty of space, a full sized fridge, and stove plus a micro wave plenty of crockery and cutlery bed comfortable TV in both the lounge room and main bedroom, smoke alarm a little sensitive which is difficult when you want to cook anything but over all a great place to stay central as well as easy to find .

"Good time in Canberra"

doreen868, Sydney, Australia 29/04/2016

The toilet flush was leaking in our room. I mentioned to a service person and they were going to get the plumber right away however this was too late for us. Otherwise it was good for what we used of the facilities.

"A minimum of fuss"

donnasharpe, Maitland, Australia 26/04/2016

Great staff, easy parking, fabulous location, excellent price, clean rooms. Best Western Queanbeyan ticked all the boxes for my husband and I during our overnight stay. This was our second stay there and we will be back again. Highly recommended.

"Best location in Queanbyan"

Noal A, Batemans Bay, Australia 25/04/2016

Made the booking at the last moment and still got the room for under $100.00 and then was pleasantly surprised by the quality of service at reception. I was traveling with my wife and we were both on motorbikes, the receptionist said as we were on motorbikes we would need an extra milk as motorcyclist like coffee. The room was very clean and all things worked well including the hot shower. Free WIFI is a bonus along with Foxtel. The location is far enough from the main road to eliminate noise and yet close enough to walk to restaurants, pubs and venues. There is a large restaurant on site which is closed Friday and Saturday nights but can be used for a function. There is a pool in the middle of the court yard with four BBQ's this would be a great place for motorcycle groups to do an overnight ride to and hold a function.

kerri-lynf, Sydney, Australia 25/04/2016

It is always a pleasure to stay here. Quiet and peaceful, a great place to just rest and relax. It is close to Canberra and and all the sights and central for day trips to the beach or mountains. Queanbeyan has a lovely atmosphere.

"Great for business travellers to Canberra"

Becndave, Sydney, Australia 25/04/2016

I travel to Canberra every 4 weeks and this hotel is my first choice when staying in Canberra. The rooms are clean and cater to everything I'm looking for. Beds are comfortable and room service is good. The self contained rooms with kitchenette gives a little more room for a little extra. Price is generally cheaper than staying in Canberra CBD. Location is great as you can easily get to Belconnen, Woden, Tuggeranong without going into busy peak our Canberra

Arion H, Group Sales & Marketing Manager | Arion Hotels at Best Western Central Motel & Apartments, responded to this review
Hi there Becndave, Thanks for sharing your review. Queanbeyan is a great value alternative to Canberra; the ACT border is just five minutes away and a great suburban road system in the capital ensures efficient travel wherever you may need to go. We look forward to seeing you back in Queanbeyan again soon. Ryan Deebank Sales & Marketing Manager Arion Hotels

"Nice room but the shower not clean"

km732016, Tumbarumba, Australia 20/04/2016

This motel looks like a dive on the exterior, but the interior rooms are nice and refurbished. Plenty of towels and washers provided. Beds were comfy. Just wish the shower had been cleaner and more of the mold removed.

"Our holiday"

markaI6166ZG, Tamworth, Australia 18/04/2016

very handy place to stay, central to most places and service was very good.our only disappointment was that the restaurant is not open on weekends..apart from that the stay was was neat and tidy and the staff very helpful(re directions etc)Like all motels guest noise is a problem but unavoidable

"Easy access"

nickoff52, Goulburn, Australia 18/04/2016

Upgraded to nice suite after being a "regular". Comfortable and quiet, healthy walk to Town. Staff are helpful. Value for the price. Will continue to stay here when we have to fly out of Canberra. Also a convenient drive to Canberra

kyliey901, Sydney, Australia 18/04/2016

The location of the accommodation perfect and the room was very clean and tidy the little touches made it worth every cent. The staff were most helpful the front counter staff were lovely and very efficient.

"outstanding service"

tazziecat1, Upper Coomera, Australia 18/04/2016

i always stay at this motel when I come to Canberra it is so close to the shops (in walking distance) and anywhere in Canberra is pretty much 20 mins away so very close to everything. But the main reason I choose to stay at this motel is the staff they are amazing. they are always so helpful and are always very friendly. nothing is ever a problem. they always go above and beyond. the rooms are always clean and tidy

"A good Motel"

J4344LDwilliamc, Greater Newcastle, Australia 18/04/2016

I thought the staff were friendly, even my GPS was able to find the motel, plenty of parking. Room was comfortable, clean and tidy. Fully stocked fridge. Tea and coffee was plentiful. The kettle worked. Well done!!

"Good experience"

bernadette_harris, Greater Sydney, Australia 18/04/2016

Very helpful staff, and good equipment for our conference. My room was very clean and well equipped. Internet connection was slow during the evening on my visit though it was satisfactory during the day for our training sessions.!

"Comfortable and convenient"

pprime_479741, Canberra, Australia 06/04/2016

We arrived on Good Friday, the receptionist was very helpful with a list of dining options for the evening. The missing hairdryer in our room was replaced as soon as possible. The only small problem was the narrow space beside the bed with the wardrobe jutting out at the foot of the bed. Easy walking distance to the dining precinct.

"Worth a try"

denniscS5549ZZ, Brisbane, Australia 01/04/2016

The room size was good and the décor was stylish. The coffee making facilities were tucked away in a corner which probably reflected the notice that no cooking was allowed. I had asked for a room with a microwave ( to heat up wheat bags) but they could not provide one. Unfortunately the noisy exhaust fan in the bathroom had to be on whenever the light was on. The restaurant is well fitted out and the menu would cater to most tastes. The staff in the restaurant and reception were all very courteous and helpful. Being over retirement age we appreciated the ground floor location.

"Delivers what you expect"

dgtravelbug, Wollongong, Australia 31/03/2016

The Best Western Central Motel and Apartments are the largest motel in Queanbeyan and are well located two blocks behind the main street (central without being on the main drag). A friendly and professional check-in and check-out as you would expect from the Best Western brand. The restaurant is open for breakfast each morning but as we had a 2brm unit we didn't go down. If the restaurant had been open for dinner we probably would have dined in one night or ordered some room service but this was not to be. It seems strange that the restaurant is not open on weekends, they obviously only cater to business travellers during the week. The motel was full over Easter so I'm sure they missed out on a lot of potential dinner patrons. That aside, our room was clean and comfortable, if a little uninspiring decor wise. Some modern canvas artwork and a couple of cushions for the lounge wouldn't go astray. Our room overlooked the carpark next door and we were woken at 1am by someone doing burnouts around the carpark. Thankfully they did not repeat their visit for the other two nights of our stay. The pool was a bonus for cooling off at the end of the day and pool towels were available for the asking from reception.

"Does the job "

916kristinp, Goonellabah 27/03/2016

The rooms are of a good standard, reasonably modern and are clean, spacious and tidy. Beds are comfortable. The stairways could be cleaned more regularly as there was a cigarette butt and ash that was in the walkway they 4 days that I stayed which was not nice to walk past. The restaurant and room service was friendly and quick. The food was ok if made to order but some of the breads in the continental breakfast were a day or two old. All in all it did the job for a business trip.

"Clean and quiet"

BrianLizTye, Bathurst, Australia 27/03/2016

I stay here from time to time for work. The place is in a good, quiet location. Close to town (if that's important to you) but it also has a licensed restaurant. The rooms are modern, clean and spacious.

"Business trip"

Deborah L, Lennox Head, Australia 26/03/2016

From the moment we arrived to checkout, everything was done well. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed. We used the restaurant for breakfast everyday and found this to be great value. All of the staff were very accommodating with all of our requests throughout our stay. Thanks for all of your help and well done.

Great place to stop & use as a base if visiting Canberra and surrounds. First class in all respects, highly recommended. Friendly and helpful staff couldn't do enough for us. Would stop there again next visit.

amazzaroli, Sydney, Australia 22/03/2016

Newly refurbished clean and good service. Well located in Queanbeyan. Dining room was closed however booklet with several alternate dining options provided. Would highly recommend, we will be returning.

"Great location and Friendly "

aussieboone, Berkeley Vale, New South Wales, Australia 20/03/2016

Stayed here for the second time and never lets us down. This place is close to everything in Queanbeyan and only a short drive to the nations capital. Highly recommend Best Western Central Queanbeyan. One down fall and it's only my thoughts. The buffet breakfast is not worth the money, disappointing and really needs to be reviewed.

"Average Motel"

MHMalick, Sydney, Australia 19/03/2016

Just an average hotel. Value for money. Free Parking. Average room and average cleanliness. Internet Wifi speed was also average. need to wash bed sheets and towels. for late checkout after 11am you need to pay extra money.

"All round great value for money"

User 18/03/2016

We had some business to attend to early in Canberra, so we arranged to stay here the night before. We got a great price on our rooms. The receptionist arranged our rooms to be near each other. The rooms were spacious, very clean, well appointed and presented. The staff all very friendly but professional. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant offered a variety of food and both of us really enjoyed our meal. I had a room service breakfast which was delivered right on time, was hot and delicious! All round, a great place to stay and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

"Family stop over"

User 17/03/2016

We stayed at the central motel and apartments with our two very young children. We stayed in a ground floor apartment ( which Pat kindly located is in as we were travelling with our two little babies), which contained a newly renovated kitchen, with full sized fridge and stove/oven. The queen bed was in a separate room and the ensuite though dated was remarkably clean and nice products were supplied. We provided our own cots and our babies slept in the lounge, we didn't have to move any furniture to put both cots in. There was a nice pool which we didn't get to use. Aldi was conveniently located within very close walking distance. We cooked a meal in the kitchen and all the utensils and cooking accessories were provided. The reception staff were very professional and lovely to deal with. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

"Expected more for price"

User 16/03/2016

Room was clean. Some faults though. Lounge was broken at the bottom & had rips in seat. Remote for aircon was missing & was told to search for it ourself. Was told there would be a robe in cupboard, was not. Light shines straight through sides of blinds at night. No where to put clothes in main room. Very noisy in behind carpark. Overall was okay.

"Canberra Visit"

515dave, Ravensbourne, Australia 15/03/2016

Very friendly counter staff. Rooms very clean and comfortable. The only downside on this visit was the air con in room 5. The weather wasn't that hot, but the cooling wasn't very effective during the night.

"Noisy service entrance"

TLJAlb, Albury 15/03/2016

Very good motel with excellent dining room, motel room was fresh and clean. Only problem was being so close to the staff service entrance - the door banged shut each time a breakfast tray was delivered beginning 6am. Otherwise lovely motel and would stay again but not in a room next to service entrance.

"quick trip to ACT"

mpayne_583337, Nowra 15/03/2016

Just enjoyed quick visit to ACT usually stay at Tuggernong however disappointed with last motel. Returned to Best Western and would be happy to stay anytime in the future. friendly staff, clean modern rooms close to local shops and eateries

"Two night stay"

Waynekerry, Wollongong, Australia 10/03/2016

Booked this motel while in town on business its very comfortable with good beds the room was clean and quiet only criticism would be the ridicules toilet paper they supply tiny single sheets you find in public toilets i will gladly pay the extra dollar for a proper roll there is some morning movement of workers leaving the breakfast is pretty ordinary and i wouldn't bother with it in the future

"best ever"

lovely people nice place and a good nights sleep. We had a great breakfast and all at a very good price. Would recommend to any one, thanks to the staff. We were well looked after at all times thanks best western.

"Comfy and nice staff"

cindyr99999, Kelowna 03/03/2016

We booked in very late and knew we would be arriving after midnight and Jennie at the front desk took care of us going above and beyond to make sure we checked in ok. The bed was super comfortable in the queen studio and we enjoyed our quick overnight stay.

"Tom Roberts"

Joan T, Culburra Beach, Australia 26/02/2016

We always stay at this Motel when in Canberra to go to Museums or going through to further destinations. Our breakfast in the restaurant was very nice and the Motel staff always look after us our car was in a safe carpark and there was no loud noise coming from other parts of the Motel at night

"Nice Location & Good Value"

Brent S, Sierra Vista, United States 24/02/2016

This is a nice hotel in a good location. I stayed here for six days and the full kitchen was a fantastic thing to have for making meals and saving money on eating out. The bed was pretty good, but not great. The biggest downside to the room was the lack of clothing storage space. There is only one small closet with about 8 hanger slots and a single shelf in it. My particular closet was missing 2 hangers. I was able to put some clothing on the shelf in the closet, but the rest of my clothing had to be stored in my suit case, which was a little inconvenient, but manageable. Despite these small issues, I would highly recommend staying at the Best Western Central Motel & Apartments, Queanbeyan, NEW SOUTH WALES

"Good for the price point"

Ramnath A, Sydney, Australia 15/02/2016

Good, clean and affordable. Service was good, however internet service could be better. Close to all amenities, Woollies, BWS, Dan Murphy's are all at walking distance. Surrounded by multiple restaurants. Overall a good experience.

"Reasonable Value"

Ganghook48, Newcastle, Australia 14/02/2016

I'd rate this place 3 & 1/2 - better than "Average" but not quite "Very good". Whilst I suspect our room was not typical - tucked away in the corner, the lack of light made the room feel a bit like a cave. The aircon was necessary on a hot Queanbeyan night but was reasonably quiet. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. The large carpark courtyard was not. Litter may have been a result of a tipped bin but the spider webs along the gutters speaks of a lack of attention to detail, maybe I just being pernickety. Location is excellent, within walking distance to all town has to offer. The price allows for a lowered bench mark and thats just as well.

pjones_656192, South Australia 12/02/2016

From the very first time I entered the Reception, I was made to feel welcome, by the lovely receptionist. She was very helpful with all my questions. I was also upgraded to an Apartment, at no extra cost to me, so was very happy.

"Weekend away"

kwatts_654206, Hill Top Nsw Australia 01/02/2016

Booked in for only one night but decided to stay 2. Staff at reception were extremely helpful and made us feel like we were their highest priority. Great apartments that have been recently renovated and have all you need for a weekend away. Shops close which was an added bonus.

"Comfortable and Clean"

Fleddy1, Melbourne, Australia 30/01/2016

Although bordering in need of a cosmetic overhaul, the bed was very comfortable and it was clean. There is a good sized, fully tiled, clean pool. I recommend Queanbeyan as a good alternative stop over to Canberra, and much cheaper. My only complaint is the towels are small, and worn thin. They definitely need to be replaced. Ask directions to restaurant precinct. We couldn't find it, and ended up with a rather dodgy chicken burger from a take away shop and a bottle of wine from the local Liquorland.

"Great for Families"

cherylt207, Quandialla 27/01/2016

The motel is in a great location, close to the main street, supermarkets, restaurants and the pool in a quiet street. The room we stayed in had two rooms one for the kids one for the parents both with TV's. It had a full size fridge, microwave, stove, crockery, cutlery, jug, toaster and cooking equipment. It was clean and very comfortable, the only negative would be other guest coming in late and being quite noisy, but you can get that anywhere.

User 27/01/2016

Great rates on rooms.Rooms nice and clean close to everything ..lovely pool !! Excellent Staff nothing to much trouble.Didn't use the restaurant chose to eat outside. Will definitely stay there again when traveling to quenbeyen .

Barbara G, Catalina NSW Australia 26/01/2016

Was disappointed in the rate. As I had stayed 3 nights over Christmas for much less. Was caught in bad weather conditions so decided to not return to Batemans Bay down the mountain. Next time I will get the Trip Advisor price.

"I'll Be Back!"

Shane S, Australia 24/01/2016

This one really does measure up to the photo's. I am often disappointed when I arrive at a hotel/motel only to find it does not measure up and I am really disappointed. I am happy to say Best Western really does live up to my expectations, and the pictures. The rooms have had a modern makeover and they are roomy clean and very comfortable. The location is just two blocks from the centre of town and are very quiet. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant was very good for breakfast. I often stay in Queanbeyan but this is the 1st time with Best Western, so I will be back!

"Loved our stay in Queanbeyan thanks to the Best Western Central."

julpat19, Central West NSW 22/01/2016

Located on a quiet street close to the main roads in the area. It's big, bigger than I expected. Check in was a breeze, friendly and welcoming. Room 34 was on the ground floor and we were able to park right out the front of our room. This is a U shaped property with some rooms on the 2nd and 3 floors, there were multiple stairwells and I did see an elevator on one side. The pool and toddler pool was located in the middle with the BBQ and BBQ tables. The restaurant in the reception area looked very nice, I didn't see anyone eating there but I did see room service being delivered. The place was packed most nights and yet it was amazingly quiet. Our room had the queen in the main area with reverse cycle air con, good sized kitchen facilities with table and chairs, a sofa and wall mounted TV. The kids had their own room with their own air con and TV. It was nice to have a seperate space from the kids to relax after busy days exploring Canberra. The Foxtel and free Wifi were a hit with us all. We chose to stay in Queanbeyan and travel into Canberra each day to get the benefits of free Foxtel, wifi and parking. Our stay was perfect and we would definitely return.

"Conveniently located"

Peter F, Sydney, Australia 22/01/2016

A small group of us spent a night in Queanbeyan on our way south to the ski field. The staff were welcoming, the rooms clean, well laid out and the hotel was a short walk to the main street. I'd go back. Peterr

The room was neat, tidy, clean and smelt nice. The restaurant staff are friendly and polite, The food is of first class quality. I would recommend this motel to anyone wanting a business stay or holiday.

dacandrsc1, Minato, Japan 20/01/2016

The place was clean. However, we chose the hotel for it' s laundry facilities, only to find out they had two washers and ONE dryer but the worst part was that you weren't allowed to use it after 8-which was about the time we checked in. NOT a good situation

"Big room, comfortable, close to shopping"

tpmjs, Stirling North, Australia 20/01/2016

We enjoyed our stay. Nice large rooms, close to shops, very friendly staff. Was great to have the kids in their own room (& they loved having their own tv!). Good facilities for cooking in room or a bbq in the pool area.

Third time I've stayed at this Motel. Comfortable, neat, clean and well equipped. The Staff are always friendly and helpful and ready for a chat. Motel was full but not noisy or disruptive. Will be back again next year.

"The no sleep hotel."

Patkeq1, Campbelltown, Australia 19/01/2016

We booked at this hotel and all we got was dirty utensils, scissors covered in food i had to re wash everything. We had noisy people above us noisy people partying below at 2am, waking up kids. It was like living inside a drum (no matter how noisy the neighbours are they won't kick them out like other hotels) Will never stay here again.

"Budget Getaway"

Anita L, Sydney, Australia 17/01/2016

We stayed in the Family Apartment and it meet all our needs. This isn't a grand luxurious hotel but people should be able to figure this out by the cheap rates. Great motel with a nice neat and clean room and an excellent pool. It looks like the Family Apartment had been refreshed/updated with new tiles in the kitchenette and bathroom, fresh coat of paint and new appliances in the kitchenette. Our room had what I would call an open living plan with the kitchenette, dining table, double bed and couch all in one room and then the bedroom had 2 single beds. The apartment was set up very well and we were more then comfortable and happy for our stay. The motel is situated very well, just down the street, maybe 200m is Aldi and then maybe 500m is a shopping centre with a Kmart, Target, Woolworths and plenty of other shops if you wanted to do a spot of retail therapy. Lots of restaurants, pubs and eateries in the area. Couldn't comment on the food at the motel as we had breakfast and dinner in our room each day, I didn't want to be spending a great deal of money eating out hence we got a room that I could cook in. Staff were great, only needed to speak with them when checking in and out which was a very quick process. We would be more than happy to stay here again

"Very good Business Motel"

Sven W, Australia 03/01/2016

Very much a business motel, with clean, if somewhat sterile rooms, a central location and plenty of onsite parking. Staff upon check in were very polite and professional. The only thing I could suggest is some art work or colour to brighten up what are otherwise rather bland rooms.

"Basic at Best"

gilly1259, Bathurst, Australia 01/01/2016

We booked into this hotel as part of our QANTAS Frequent Flyers Membership and were therefore expecting something beyond basic. The family apartment was small for four people and we were concerned to find the smoke detector covered with a plastic bag! Would only recommend this room style for families with small children where you want a separate room for the children to sleep, as single beds are in the separate room and QS bed is in the lounge/kitchen part of the room. If adults want privacy then 2Bed apartment would be the option. The bathroom was woeful - no where to place toiletry bags, an oversized basin that just gets in the way, only one towel rail and two door hooks for four towels, little room to get dry and a shower head that if you tried to adjust it in any direction (up or down) would spray water out of the top of the fitting so that water went up and over the shower screen, wetting all walls, the toilet, and anything you had placed in the bathroom. Certainly not a bathroom to serve the needs of four people. After nine hours travelling we were looking forward to a quiet drink (especially when we read about Happy Hour) followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant and an early night. Upon returning to the reception/dining area we found the bar area lights turned off and the restaurant not looking ready to greet evening guests. Upon enquiring at reception, we were advised that the restaurant was closed for the next two weeks and that there was a sign on the door - the door that automatically slides open upon entry and therefore hiding this closure notice! The receptionist advised that there was also a notice on the end of the check-in counter but this was not pointed out upon arrival and I do believe that we should have been advised of the restaurant closure upon check-in. However, the receptionist did then advise of other local venues that would be open for dinner and provided some recommendations and a map. The experience was saved for the teenage travelling companions by the free wi-fi. Overall, we were left feeling disappointed in this hotel and it certainly aided in us easily getting 'up and out the door again' the next day to continue our travels.

Arion H, Sales & Marketing Manager at BEST WESTERN Central Motel & Apartments, responded to this review
Thanks for sharing your review, Gilly1259. We are disappointed that some aspects of your stay were a let down. The issue with your smoke detector is clearly unacceptable and something that we will look into urgently. We hope that you will give our hotel another chance next time you are visiting Queanbeyan. Warm regards Ryan

"nice accommodation"

Donna H, Mollymook, Australia 14/12/2015

Our room wasn't ready for us upon arrival as specifically booked, which was a major concern because I needed to sleep and shower etc to go to work. We always stay here, as it is our favourite place to stay, but the staff member who checked us in, was VERY unprofessional and was arguing with, and complaining to us, about the cleaning staff ??? We were given the wrong room, and then charged extra for staying in the room in which we had originally booked ??

"Excellent Value"

Yvonne M, Haberfield, Australia 13/12/2015

Appearances can be deceiving. Looks like an ordinary motel from the outside, but walk into the Reception area and it's great! We had an apartment overnight, and it had everything we needed. Comfortable beds, large bathroom, nice kitchen with everything included, all very clean and recently remodelled. Large screen television, and plenty of power points; reading lights over the bed very good. A very nice pool in the middle of the grounds. Didn't try the restaurant but it looked very clean and modern.

"Best Service Ever"

sdelarue, Brisbane Region, Australia 29/11/2015

I was supposed to stay with family for the weekend but i couldn't work in the noisy environment so i booked into the Central Motel for the night, They only had a serviced apartment left but it hadn't been cleaned at the time - they were extremely accommodating and pushed the room clean up so that by the time i got a coffee the room was ready. I am extremely greatful that they went out of their way to have the room ready for me in such a short time, the staff were very polite and accommodating, the rooms are lovely and spacious (even had a hairdryer) and they smell gorgeous! I will definitely stay again - and i have told my friends about it also so they will change too.

"Great stopover for Canberra sights and shopping"

308ktheh, Sydney, Australia 28/11/2015

Stayed one night during a shopping trip in Canberra. This property is only 10 mins drive to the Canberra Majura park shopping complex. Great value for money with pillow top bed, large bathroom with shower. Clean and comfortable. We booked a one bedroom apartment, which had a full kitchen. We also enjoyed a lovely dinner at the in-house restaurant. The food was well-made and we really appreciated the friendliness of Kathy, who served us that night. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. In and around Canberra, this is a great stopover as parking and wifi is complimentary.

We found this room perfect for our needs and style of travel. The kitchen was complete and the space was excellent. The WiFi was axlittle intermittent but the TV sets were fine. The position of the motel was great for shopping or the obligatory walk to Kingsley's chicken for a few meals!

"Great stay in Queanbeyan"

mariannea79, Brisbane, Australia 27/11/2015

Staff were very friendly & helpful. Room was great. Didn't use the restaurant so can't review that...but used the was very cold & needed the leaves scooped out & garbage picked up. Would recommend this place to stay & would definitely return.

The stay was ok although the light to the Airconditioner was very annoying as light very bright at night. These need adjusting as they light kept me awake. Also ezternal window needs cleaning as bitd droppings on window to bathroom.

Nice n clean room Decent size n spacious as well Excellent service Very friendly staff Quality restaurant and A1 meals Asked for little things every now and then and received em in just minutes rather than waiting for long period of time Overall I'd say 9.99/10 Highly recommended

"Great location"

Cher C, Sydney, Australia 27/11/2015

Close to showground. Easy access to bottle and supermarket. Walk to good restaurants and pubs. Room was at front of property but it was very quiet as bedroom was at rear of suite. Dated details didn't detract from enjoyable stay. Linen good quality and plentiful supply. Wouldn't purchase food or drink from reception due to ease of access to woolies and coles. Great for motorcycle travellers.

"Great Stay"

When in Queanbeyan always stay here, BEST motel in the area. Rooms are always very clean, very spacious and great beds. Sometimes I am given an upgrade without asking which is always fantastic. Staff are ALWAYS friendly. Restuarant has fantastic food.

"Smart and comfortable"

NickyApplecross, Sydney, Australia 27/11/2015

The motel was larger than it looks and even though it looks rather like a typical 1970s motel once you get inside the room you will be pleasantly surprised. We found a beautifully renovated room of the like found in a smart city hotel rather than a suburban motel. Nice welcome, very comfortable, everything worked as expected. Wifi was a little slow but no major problem. Excellent value all up. Will definitely recommend and stay again.

"central location"

ann c, Sydney 27/11/2015

Loads of room, laundry facilities (and when you've just ridden 3000km to get there you probably need them! ) Very biker friendly and close to restaurants (great curry place round the corner - Punjabi Hut) and Canberra. Stayed three nights and had a great time!

"Nice, but smelly"

blueferrari, Sydney, Australia 17/11/2015

Nice hotel in a good quiet location, however our mini bar cabinet area had this awful foul smell of off milk or vomit. We couldn't even open the cabinet to make a coffee without the smell enveloping the room. The rooms are small, but have everything you need for a place to put your head down for the night.

Arion H, Group Sales & Marketing Manager at BEST WESTERN Central Motel & Apartments, responded to this review
Hi Blueferrari, We are extremely distressed to read of your experience with an unpleasant odour in your hotel room. Our housekeeping team takes great pride in their work and we humbly apologise for this unacceptable oversight. I hope we have the chance to see you back in the future so that we may offer a much more enjoyable experience. Thanks for posting your feedback. Best wishes, Ryan

"A comfortable one night stay"

Maria N, Sydney, Australia 16/11/2015

A very pleasant room, nicely decorated and very clean, it looked more like a decent hotel room rather than a motel room. Friendly, helpful staff. I had a comfortable stay here for one night. It could have been a little noisy (I was on ground floor) if there had been loud people coming and going during the night, but luckily I was there on a quiet night. Mind you, as it is a motel, you will hear people starting their cars to leave early in the morning.

Arion H, Group Sales & Marketing Manager at BEST WESTERN Central Motel & Apartments, responded to this review
Hi Maria N, Thanks for the kind words and we're delighted that you enjoyed your room here at BEST WESTERN Central Motel & Apartments. "Central to everything"

JohnB-Aust, Sydney, Australia 14/11/2015

Clean and spacious rooms, located in the centre of Queanbeyan. Walking distance to cafes, supermarket and swimming pool. Onsite restaurant was ok albeit a little expensive for the selection available.

Arion H, Group Sales & Marketing Manager at BEST WESTERN Central Motel & Apartments, responded to this review
Hi JohnB-Aust, We're glad you had a great time with us and enjoyed our location. As you mention, the best of Queanbeyan is all within a few minutes walk of our hotel, and the ACT is just five minutes drive away. Thanks for your review, Ryan

Esther S, Sydney, Australia 11/11/2015

Arrived there after a long day and long travels. I received a phone call while I was on the road which was very nice. Arrived 10 minutes later and received a nice and warm welcome. Rooms are big, shower is nice (doesn't just drizzle ..) water is hot. The Motel is surprisingly big. Would definitely stay there again.

Arion H, Group Sales & Marketing Manager at BEST WESTERN Central Motel & Apartments, responded to this review
Hi Esther S, We do our best to accommodate floor preferences, so please don't hesitate to make a request when you next book with us. Thanks for sharing your review and we wish you safe travels. Best wishes, Ryan

"Great room size, poor bathroom"

aeh115, Melbourne, Australia 11/11/2015

Having stayed here before, we came back for the location close to family. The rooms are nice but unfortunately the bathroom was a let down. The window in the bathroom wasn't completely frosted and you could see the neighbours windows which presumably the neighbours could see in, this was quite uncomfortable. I had also put the do not disturb sign on our room door when we went out and on our return found that both times our room had been made up. Also when I was in the room I heard someone enter the room before check out time, which was very uncomforting. I let the reception know and they were apologetic so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

"Always fabulous"

Anne M, Merimbula, Australia 11/11/2015

Stay here often for work trips. Always very friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant serves basic but tasty dinners. Breakfast is okay. Rooms have been tastefully refurbished. Beds are very comfortable. Great location.

"Convenient location for Queanbeyan"

Christine T, Sydney, Australia 29/10/2015

Room 48 was a good size and at the far end of the motel complex on the middle floor. There was a nice range of bathroom products but my partner had to dip his head to enter the shower as the shower frame was not high enough for his 6'2" height. You could hear the neighbouring rooms when they took a shower or flushed the toilet. The mini bar was well stocked. The pool is very welcoming and there are barbecue facilities.

"Fantastic room that was just right for the trip"

Tony W, Sydney 14/10/2015

A spacious well appointed and well maintained room with a very comfortable bed. The large flat screen TV has all free to air channels and a limited Foxtel selection. The bathroom was perfect with a great shower. Check in was simple and friendly. Plenty of free off street parking. Recommended hotel.

"My Short Stay"

Jillian C, Tanilba Bay 13/10/2015

Great value for money and conveniently located close to Canberra and you don't need to pay for parking like so many. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and contemporary designed room. Always a pleasure to stay.

16alley, Sydney, Australia 12/10/2015

We had booked a two bedroom serviced apartment for our stay when we visited Canberra. It is fairly close to the main city and the drive was around 20 mins. They are a little short staffed but Jenny at the reception made up for it with her friendly and hospitable manner. The rooms were clean and tidy with all the appliances in perfect working condition, which is sometimes too much to say for many motels. Our apartment was on the ground floor and that made it a tad darkened with no sunlight coming in. They had a good buffet selection for breakfast, the price though was a little steep. Overall an enjoyable experience.

"Functional "

Srinivasan R, Manila, Philippines 08/10/2015

Stayed here on the way back from a short visit to Thredbo..the room initially booked in Best Western Canberra was booked out and we got a free upgrade at this place..stayed at a 2 bedroom suite which was modern, large and comfortable..nothing fancy but really functional..breakfast was average, you have a few eating places around

"A Fantastic Place to Stay..."

"New and tidy"

Renowe, Bathurst, Australia 07/10/2015

The service was great and the room for us was one of the better motel we have stayed in It was really close to shopping areas too which is a bonus with kids as it was all in walking distance ...................

"Very good value"

FernandoCg, Macau 04/10/2015

Stayed one night, free car park and reasonable speed free internet. The room was spacious and clean (executive room), nevertheless it was located at the ground floor, but the surrounding environment was quite and a 3 mins short walk to the supermarkets and some restaurants just nearby. I can park my car just in front of my room, as a short stay, I therefore no need to move my bags for a distance, I am not sure if the hotel equipped a lift to upper floors. Front desk staffs were friendly and efficiency. However, if you are a light sleeper or intend to wake up late, I suggest you better ask for a room at upper floor, because some vehicle noise especially when people start the engine in the early morning and some staff storage/work area also located at the ground floor, you may be waken up.
