« One of many hotels this trip. From Ohio to Colorado to New Mexico to Texas to New Orleans then home. »

Sunday, November 13, 2016. Stayed for one night while traveling through Texas to Wichita Falls. Room was fine but what was not fine was the woman working in the breakfast area. She was visibly irritated when a guest would ask her for something. There was not any hot water in the area for the guests to get it. It was in an employee only area. She got it for me but I was made to feel like I was bothering her. Other quests came in and she was asked to refill the eggs, pancake batter and gravy. She went into the employee only area and shook her head and threw both arms up in the air!!!! Visible to me and my husband and anyone else in the area. Obviously she did not want to be there to do her job in hotel hospitality. She needs a talkin' to or better yet fired. Also, the towels we had in our room needed to be replaced. Pretty well worn!

« If you like cigarette smoke and want a master key to al the rooms this is your spot! »

Walking in the door it is obvious smoking is allowed in the hotel and I suspect even encouraged. After the five minute checkin process I already had acquired a two pack a day habit. Interestingly enough the desk clerk broke the news that the door lock was broken and would only accept a master key card. Before you become alarmed please understand she did make me promise not to go into the other rooms. (I promised but was crossing my fingers.). Got to the room and even the master key didn't work. Went back down and got an apology and a literal stack of master keys to try. I was able to get in with the third try and was greeted by tobacco stained walls and sheets with cigarette burns. We decided that being non smokers was probably not a good thing and left. I kept a half dozen of the master keys and will be selling them on EBay so please watch for them. One more note: I noticed the hotel management sign said it was managed by Ganga Management. Now it all makes sense.

« Going to miss all the Ladies! »

We have stayed here several times over the last few years. Unfortunately this will be our last visit here due to the family member passing that we were visiting. However, all of the ladies made us feel welcome and like family each and every visit. Thank you ladies! You know who you are..

    « Weekend getaway »

Spent a quiet weekend here recently just get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I like the layout of these best Western hotels especially the pool and hot tub. The hot breakfast is adequate, nothing special but you won't go hungry. The staff was friendly and helpful.

« Come to Quanah, ask about its history »

When you stay here take a few minutes to visit Medicine Mound just east of town. Quanah was a great Comanche Chief whose mother was a captured Pioneer woman. The Comanches dominated Buffalo country for decades after the settlers wanted to bring in cattle. A very interesting part of Texas History. This town is only 8 miles from the Oklahoma border. After the Comanches accepted a treaty Quanah had a mansion in Oklahoma.

« Good value, quiet location »

I've become a big fan of the Best Western franchise and this hotel is a good example why. Nice layout, big rooms, good price, okay free breakfast and 24/7 free coffee. Quanah is a small town, so not many dinner options but it's quiet and safe.

    « Excellent »

We were provided with exactly what we asked for - a pet friendly (with a service dog) smoking suite with 2 queen beds on the first floor. Very unusual in the current environment. The staff were especially friendly and helpful, especially toward our Golden Retriever. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was above average. Recommended.

« Sleepy town with minimal dining options »

The positive features of this hotel are the friendly receptionist who tries hard, good WiFi and the hot breakfast (best biscuits & gravy!) I booked on one hour before arriving and the hotel was having difficulty getting the authorizations from I stood around and waited while the hotel attempted to call I eventually left to find dinner and then returned to try again. Still had to call, but eventually got checked in. The young receptionist was super nice, friendly and apologetic. Still... a hassle after an 8 hour motorcycle ride. There is a strange smell in the first floor hall (almost like it used to be smoking rooms) and a body odor smell in the bathroom. My bathroom looked as if the cleaning crew just wiped it down (10 hairs in the tub, no washcloths, two haphazardly stacked towels, hair & debris on the floor). The bed is soft & bouncy, with overly soft pillows. I awoke with a backache. The A/C unit is on the wall, old and loud. The town is a very small, sleepy, country town. It was Sunday night and there was nowhere to have a beer and watch football. Had a steak at Dutch's, it was awful. I'd recommend going another 30 miles and trying Childress, TX.

    « Wonderful Stay »

This is a great place. It looked to be fairly new. Our room was very large with refrigerator, microwave, and large flat screen TV, a desk and chair, and also a nice side chair to relax in. The room and bath were both immaculate and everything on the property was well maintained. The two queen beds were very comfortable and the bed linens were also nice. Everything about this place was first rate. i'd stay again and recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable and clean room at a fair price.

    « Quanah »

Have nothing bad to say other than I am used to a foam bed. the bed wasn't bad just not accustom to sleeping on a spring mattress anymore. Everything was in working order and the staff was kind. There was this cat that met us at the door everyday. Was nice to see him every day.

    « Oasis on a Roadtrip »

The hotel accommodations here were amazing! The rooms were clean and stylishly furnished. We really enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. The hotel staff was so pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is included and was really tasty. If you are in the area, you need to stay at this hotel!

« Best Sleep in days »

Hotel was clean and inviting. Room was excellent with king size bed and sofa. The room was inviting and was great to have a clean, quite place to rest after 9 hours of driving. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling.

    « A few problems here »

We were driving from Durango to Dallas and did not have an advance reservation so we were happy they had space. Their competition did not. Just a few glitches so far tonight. The couple next door were repeatedly slamming their door which would not stay closed from the outside. I don't know if they changed rooms. It is not possible to turn on the shower in our bathtub. Will report it in the morning since it is late. Otherwise place is clean, adequate. Young man at desk was very nice.

« Worst stay in a hotel ever »

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and this was the worst experience ever! There were 5 of us. We needed a room with sofa bed. There was dirty food wrappers and bottle cap in sofa bed. No pillows, sheets or blankets. The mattress was horrible--6 year old fell through, wouldn't lie flat. Toilet overflowed with first flush. Rooms were extremely hot!! Room was dirty. Staff was rude and didn't know what to do when I complained about room conditions. Had to request a different room. The second room was also hot, dirty and terrible sofa bed mattress!! Again wouldn't lie flat, found wrappers in bed, and sagged. Sofa cushions were half on/half off when walked in room. Next morning staff was more concerned with their own personal issues they were discussing then helping me check out. Never asked if I "enjoyed" my stay which most hotels typically ask. I stayed in 14 different hotels during my vacation and this was the only hotel that I gave a negative review!

    « It tries....but don't take your family here. »

It tries. The people are friendly, but please don't take your family here. I ignored the other reviews, thinking "how bad can it be"? It can get pretty bad folks. Keep driving to Henrietta if you can. There is a nice Best Western there. The first thing we noticed was the couch, the one that not even a thrift store would take. The room was hot and humid and hadn't been cleaned. I cleaned the toilet myself. Have you ever found blood in a hotel room? Well, I can say that I have now. I always check hotel pillows because I am incredibly allergic to down. The first one I checked under the pillow cover had a nice big spot of dried blood on it. After this, I stopped looking. The room had absolutely been smoked in, although it was a nonsmoking room. The hotel ranks of cigarette smoke. If you have allergies, definitely don't stay here. If you have kids, don't stay here. We were traveling with my three nieces, and we didn't feel comfortable with them going anywhere in the hotel by themselves.

« Best Western Quanah Inn & Suites, Quanah, TEXAS »

They have done a good job updating the outside of the hotel but the rooms could use updating as well. The towels were the thinnest I've ever seen in a Best Western hotel. I do not like the new logo, it is too generic and doesn't do anything to separate Best Western from other businesses around. It's hard to pick it out when driving and looking for the hotel.

« Most horrible hotel stay »

If this review had an option for 0 circles it would be ! Stayed for a family reunion. ( entire family stays every year) Took forever to check in , clerk didn't act like she knew what she was doing. Room was hot, A/c did not work well. Uncles room A/C did not work. He said filters were caked up, he washed them in tub, which was also broken. Tub would not drain! Cousin got there , checked in. She went to her room and someone had broken into her room and taken a shower was laying on the bed watching TV. She headed down stairs to tell the clerk bc she thought she had checked her into someone else's room. Clerk said no she hadn't . The clerks husband ( who use to work there , but was fired) was sent to look for the guy! Clerk said she could call the police bc she couldn't leave the desk! Really , hello phone at desk. And she was never at the desk , EVEr the whole time we were there. We had to go outside and find her to get our key fixed the same night! Her husband was there the entire weekend ! Clerk never called police until it was too late and we demanded she call. They get there and she told them she knew who had broken in! I was extremely pissed , he could have been dangerous and hurt some of my family. We demanded she called the manager. She did , but he couldn't come because he had been drinking. He didn't even show up next morning. After all that, every family member room had to be reactivated every time we came back to the hotel , the whole party ! Keys did not work all day!! On checkout day, we are walking down the hall and one of the housekeeper was talking to herself and says " it's gonna be a hell of a day! " lol ate breakfast BF we left. Apparently microwave in kitchen did not work bc the worker doing breakfast had to cook everything in the customer microwave. Toaster did not work either. We had stayed here several years. This was the worst !

« Apparently well-used by workers - making it hard for staff to keep up »

This hotel is, by the workers' admission, "swamped." It's about a 6 hour drive from Santa Fe, NM on I-40 (a busy throughway) and had many company trucks in the lot. Our sleep was fine and the staff were friendly. But, many of the usual offerings for a Best Western buffet were not available - waffle mix out and gravy absent ("When she gets less busy, she's going to go home and see if she has a mix."). So, as I said, staff was trying to be helpful, but it seems someone wasn't keeping up with hotel needs.

    « Quanah Best Western »

Got in late after a long drive from Albuquerque and had a delay in checking late as the computer system was down. Other than that the place was neat, clean and the staff were friendly. I'd stay there again if needing to rest my head between Amarillo and Fort Worth.

    « Keeps getting worse »

This hotel just keeps going downhill. There are lights burnt out in the hallways, and in the stairway I use bordering on a safety issue. Someone is going to get hurt. (It's been that way for a few months now and I have said something to the management). Breakfast is still quite lacking. One of the vending machines is still broken. Hot tub is finally fixed. There is trash in the parking lot, weeds for grass (and it rarely gets mowed). Employees are pleasant but you can tell they aren't happy there because the management won't supply them with the tools to do their job. The AC seems to only work in half the rooms. My last stay it took 4 different rooms to get a room that the AC actually worked.

    « friendly employees »

all was good and the room was very pleasant and comfortable. Had a good stay and a good breakfast the next morning. The staff was helpful at breakfast and made sure all the foods were on the table.Great time at the pool very refreshing!

« Not part of the plan, but there when you need them. »

On Friday night, we were on our way from Albuquerque, NM to Seven Points, Texas, about a 10 hour drive, usually. We had just passed Quanah, Texas, about 1:30 am, and traffic came to a halt in all lanes due to an accident on the highway. So, we, being impatient, decided to check Google Maps for a possible detour! BAD MISTAKE! Google maps only shows you other roads, they do not indicate if they are PASSABLE roads. So we took the detour, and got ourselves stuck in a ditch, until someone could pull us out around noon! Lesson learned! Quanah is a small farm town with very friendly, helpful people, but it does not have many hotels to choose from. However, we stayed there because they had a Best Western. The next closest town with a Best Western was over 50 miles away and we were too tired to drive any longer. I usually choose Best Western over other hotel chains, because, overall, they have higher standards than some of the other chains in the same or even higher price ranges. This one was not quite as nice as some others we have stayed at, but if the need arises, we would stay here again. For the price, it was not bad. The hotel staff at Best Western Quanah Inn & Suites, was very sympathetic and let us check in early so we could get some sleep. We showered, found some dinner and went to bed by 5pm. I guess we were really tired because we slept until 5 am the next morning. We stayed in room 105, which was a king suite and it was very large, compared to most hotel rooms. The room arranged quite nice and I was impressed with the TV stand that turned to face any direction. The beds were a little harder than I like them, (they were not the pillow top mattresses that my favorite Best Westerns have) but they were comfortable. I was not impressed with breakfast, it was pretty standard: premade eggs, biscuits and sausage, warmed up, with the usual cereals, toast, yogurt, etc. We actually drove 30 miles away to Vernon, Texas, to find a restaurant that serves a real breakfast on Sunday morning.

« Room 224....Stay only if you MUST! »

Ok, the hotel in not horrible, but I would never stay there again. It does have a bit of a musty smell. It's older, had numerous bugs in the hallway light, breakfast was over in a flash! The pool was decent. My room was huge so that was a plus! I was in town for a wedding the weekend of the 4th. I was 1000 degrees and my A/C unit in Room 224 did not work. It felt like it was a box fan perched in the window circulating warm air! The maintenance men tried numerous time to repair it...they sprayed it with Awesome, they tinkered with it for an hour or so...and it STILL did not work. I ended up taking a nap in my sister's room because I could not get comfortable. The Best part of this hotel (which is few) is that the staff was amazing. The front office initially offered me a 10.00 discount (lol, go figure)! Then, they offered to give a full refund as it was clear that the A/C was not going to cool the room. We actually opted to stay because the wedding was starting and we did not want to drive to Vernon or Childress for a new room. When we returned to the room, the AC was glaringly COLD!

« Bed breakfast and poor service »

Booked 3 rooms all double queens. To be fair the rooms were comfortable and clean. The service however was less than desirable. We checked in late and that too a while. Since Inwas paying with cash, I had to also leave. 100 dollar deposit for each room. And to boot, I will get that back in the morning when I check out. So if it's a security deposit to protect the room shouldn't someone look at the room before I am allowed to get the deposit back. I understand the desire to protect an investment but the protection typically makes sense. Then after checking in the I needed to do laundry. They had no quarters so I scaled together enough coins to do 1 load and buy soap for the load. But the soap dispenser didn't work. I hope breakfast is as promised and I really hope I get my deposit back. I can safely say Best Western has lost the last opportunity for my business.

    « Very good value »

OK, not many people travel to and stay in Quanah, TX - but I do. And when I do, I like to stay at the Best Western in Quanah. It's a good value for the price and quality. With each stay, the room has been quiet - a good night sleep - and clean. The only concern is that the free cookies offered are usually gone when I arrive :(

    « First choice »

The staff is sweet and friendly, even when we arrived so late they made check in easy so we could be settled in our room. They were all friendly. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Will stay here again in the future.

    « Poor A/C and No Food »

The clerk gave us a room that we found out the following morning was on maintenance and should never have been rented. The A/C did not work, and had we not already unpacked and been ready for bed, we would have switched rooms. Although the bed was clean and comfortable, it was so hot we had trouble sleeping and did not rest well. Upon checkout, the breakfast bar was gone -- literally. People were sharing omelettes and the staff should never have let the bar get as low as it did. We left with neither breakfast nor a good night's rest. Very disappointed.

    « Big Rooms »

I was shocked at how huge the rooms are! TOTALLY IMPRESSED! The bed was a little hard for me, but being the first night of vacay travel, I never sleep until the next nights. I'm diabetic, so the omelets were great. Just no meat. Ya'll should consider that! So an omelet and a banana is what I was able to eat. But over all, I'd be back! It was a very nice hotel!

« We love BEST WESTERN!! »

Best Western is our hotel of choice! This location was wonderful. The business appeared to be new and was extremely clean and well-maintained. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when in the area. I would also recommend it to friends and family.

« the best western ever... »

the room was clean..great bed...the breakfast was wonderful..but best of all, everyone who works there are the most wonderful people there...if I ever go back that way, that is the only place i'll stay.....

    « Bad Experience »

Make sure you call to confirm your reservations and take down clerk's name. Our reservations were cancelled for "unknown" reason after I called to the hotel to confirm late arrival for our reservations (had a confirmation #).

    « Nice place »

Nice place to stay. The rooms were nice and clean and the bed was firm. The breakfast was okay, and could have been better. The biscuits and gravy were really good. The staff were very friendly and if you needed anything they would get it for you.

« No Luggage Cart Late at Night »

We booked this room for a very late arrival. I had doctor's appointments until 5 p.m. that day. When we arrived at 10:40 at night, there was no luggage cart available. We had lots of luggage. One of their guests apparently hijacked the luggage cart and held it hostage the entire night. We waited about 15 minutes and the front desk clerk didn't feel it was necessary to call the person's room who took it last to get it back. I'm sure the front desk clerk knew who checked in last. There's not a huge stampede of people waiting to stay in Quanah. We had to drive back about 45 minutes to Vernon, TX and go to another hotel chain. My husband is 89 and recently had been very ill and I don't appreciate this. That, plus, I got pretty worked up about it and didn't sleep 4 hours that night. This set the tone for our entire weekend and ruined our trip. We had to drive the extra hour and a half (to and from Quanah) and lost lots of sleep. We didn't get to our other hotel until midnight. We do a family reunion and use this hotel every other year, but we won't be going back ever again. I don't want to go anywhere west of Dallas ever again. A basic service for a hotel to provide is to have luggage carts available. I have a bad back and I don't appreciate it. Also, the lack of sleep set forth events at the next hotel and I also couldn't enjoy the midnight church service I had to attend Saturday night. We had to leave the service early as I was just too exhausted. Also, we didn't get to visit our relatives in the Quanah area. Trip ruined--thanks BW. I won't be packing suitcases to stay at one of your hotels again. It's a wasted effort.

« Only real option here - and it is "ok" »

Let me preface this review by saying I generally spend about 150-175 nights a year in hotels for business. I have spent a LOT of time at/in this hotel. Things that need improvement: - The management changed around January of 2016 and the hotel has really gone downhill since then. The manager just really doesn't seem to care. - The vending machines have been broken for at least 3 months now, usually the upstairs one. When the manager was asked about it, he says "you need to call the company number on the machine for a refund" (I.E. it's not their problem). FURTHER, the items in the vending machines are usually EXPIRED. - The hot tub has been broken for OVER A YEAR (they are always "waiting on parts") and I see I'm not the only person on here that has noticed. - The exterior green areas of the hotel are always full of weeds (not grass)...not a big deal to me, but doesn't look very nice. - I have found a mouse in my hotel room on two different stays. The manager was notified and was just like "I'm sorry" and really didn't do a thing. I had to go next door to the store (United) and buy some mouse traps to catch the mouse myself, both occasions. - The breakfast is awful. With the previous management it was at least fairly decent and there were all items at all hours during the breakfast. Now there are no lids for the coffee cups (ongoing issue for at least 3-4 months), there is usually no breakfast meat or eggs (or if there is, there may only be one), and the gravy for the biscuits and gravy is usually out. - The staff all seems to be very unhappy here (since the management change in or around January 2016) and it shows. - This is a smoking hotel (4 rooms on each floor... all on the Western end of the hotel). I always ask for the opposite end because I absolutely hate the smoke smell. I do occasionally get a whiff of the smoke, but 98-99% of the time, its fine. The high points: - Rooms are usually very clean. - Despite being just a few hundred feet from Hiway 287, the rooms are pretty quiet where you don't hear a lot of the semi-trucks passing by. - The wi-fi has improved greatly over the past several months. (It is satellite internet or DSL... not very fast, but not terrible). They recently put a password on the Wi-Fi and I think that helped a lot of the issues (people were sitting in the parking lot using it... taking up bandwidth). - The hotel is in walking distance to five of the eight restuarants in town. (Sonic, the Deli inside the supermarket (consistently good), the Pizza Ranch (good, but overpriced), Dutch's (not worth going to, but the locals love it) and Sisters Cafe (usually a lunch place). The others (Medicine Mound Depot, Crazy Cow burgers, and Subway) are at the other end of town.

    « Nice Room »

The room was huge. They also offered me a crib for my baby free of Charge. I really enjoyed the stay. However the hot tub was broken and we were pretty disappointed. Overall nice people, clean rooms, and we would stay again if traveling through that area.

    « Good hotel. »

This is a good hotel. It was comfortable and quiet. It is easily accessible from the highway. Good breakfast was provided in the morning. The beds were comfortable. The staff was helpful. The only negative was a limited number of dinner options. Next time, we will consider eating before we get to Quanah.

« Nice hotel but breakfast lacks alot »

We had a great room and the staff was friendly however the breakfast was the worst I have ever experienced at Best Western or any other motel I have stayed at over the years and around the country. There were no eggs, no breakfast meat, and the coffee was weak and made me wonder how many times the grounds had been used.

    « Not horrible »

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The room was quite comfortable...except for the sleeper sofa. My sons slept there, and it was pretty bad. The mattress on the sofa was stained and malformed. I had to go to the front desk to get the bedding, even though our reservation requested the sleeper sofa. They were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, I would recommend the hotel.

    « Great Stay! »

We stayed at this hotel after reading good reviews about this place. I'm glad we did!The rooms here are very spacious and the beds are comfortable. It's close and convenient to everything in town. They have a great swimming pool that my children very much enjoyed. We will be back!

« Very clean and well maintained facility »

Excellent hot breakfast with good choices. Egg omelet, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, fresh fruits, cereals, pancakes/waffles, fruit drinks, milk, coffee. Clean rooms throughout. Appears to be fairly recently built. Set back from highway to minimize road noise. A/C unit cycled on/off too frequently though. And, for our taste, bed was too firm and the pillows too soft. Made for an uncomfortable night's rest.

    « Mystery Check In »

This was a too-tired-to-drive-anymore stop without a reservation. I asked for an ADA room with two beds. The clerk took my rewards card, I.D. and credit card and registered me for a room. She never said what type of room was available, never said the rate, if she had an ADA room - just processed. Turns out she did not give me an ADA room. I don't know why. During this it seems the new owners were in the lobby. They were talking loud and excitedly about not having funds to pay the staff. This went on for some time and back and forth. I've stayed at many many Best Western's and this one was a good property and the room was fine. The check-in service was terrible.

    « Keep driving »

We intended to stay in Childress, but wanted to rest sooner (headed West). This hotel is not only in a smaller town, but also more expensive, and lesser quality. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable. However, the room smelled of urine and tub caulk was mildewed. Skipped the shower that morning. Breakfast was old and stale. Waste of money. If you're headed west stop sooner in Vernon or later in Childress.

« Nice facility, easy access »

Nice place to stay if you're on the road. Easy access to highway and local shopping venues. Clean rooms, nice indoor pool. Hot tub did not have hot water, due to maintenance, but, who needs hot water with the weather outside at 100+? WiFi wasn't all that great, but found ways to cover that issue.

« Nice People nice property »

We stay at Best Westerns quite often. I like the small town properties like this one because everyone is so nice and helpful. If there is a downside is that sometimes the smaller properties have a few minor maintenance issues such as the hot tub not working. I don't think they get things fixed as properties in the big city do. I will take the trade-off every time.

    « good stay »

The town is small and the restaurants close fairly early. The atmosphere is great, just not a lot to do after dark. The hotel was worth the stay. The beds are comfortable, the breakfast good and the staff friendly. Check-in and out was easy.

« Internet and Lighting need to change. »

It is a gamble for wireless internet to work and the I use my floor lamp on the desk every evening and the cleaning crew put it down every morning. The hotel is very convient to all the areas in which I work while I am in Quanah, TX. The front desk employees are mostly very friendly and willing to help you. I have realized that if you are a points customer you will get better rooms and a few more smiles. I will suggest this hotel to my other colleges and employees.

This hotel seems new and is very affordable. You get a huge room, free parking, free wifi, and free breakfast. I guess the staff is friendly, I didn't have much interaction with them. My room had a funky smell that only got worse when you turned on the air conditioner. In the room next to mine a family member killed a scorpion. Another family member had to have the bathroom cleaned because it was visibly dirty and some of the rooms didn't have fresh sheets. My room did not feel clean at all and the hallway was pretty bad too. For breakfast I only grabbed a bagel. I think it may be understaffed. With a good cleaning this place would be great.
