"Great Place To Stay"

I visited SureStay Hotel last month and just wanted to say what a wonderful place this is to stay. From the front desk staff who were very friendly and helpful to housekeeping who went above and beyond for me I had a very nice visit. I will definitely be going back next time I'm in town.

"Will Definitely Stay Again"

I had a wonderful time at this Surestay. Mr. Shah, the manager, was very helpful and kind. The hotel has been remodeled and it shows greatly. The hotel looks wonderful and refreshing. I will definitely stay again. Great for those passing by or those looking for a quick, quiet getaway.

"Reasonable and excellent service."

The visit I have had thus far has been great and was built upon excellent communication. The service I receive from housekeeping is kept up at in a reasonable manner. An issue occurred in my room the maintenence was needed that the issue was corrected in a timely manner. If anybody needs a place to stay because of a quick stay or being misplaced, this place is somewhere to consider.

"Don't expect much"

Don't expect much! Very minimal experience! It was a decent place to sleep until you need something. Tthe pillows were small and it was cold so we requested one more pillow and a blanket. I was dumbfounded when I was given a blanket and told they didn't have any pillows available???? There are never more than 8-10 cars in the parking lot. How hard would it have been to give me one from another room for the one night?

"Nice Hotel"

I stay at this hotel all the time. The price is fair, and the proximity of other businesses to the hotel is awesome. I always enjoy my stay. Surestay with Best Western on Shore Dr. will always be my go-to hotel!

Awesome hotel! My stay was relaxing. Great breakfast! Very fresh and lots of options. Staff was very attentive. Mica was my housekeeper and she did an amazing job! Will definitely stay again! Thanks for the excellent experience!!

"Nightmare in Norfolk"

This place has seen better days and the level of maintence leaves much to be desired. Lousy internet, bugs in room, smoking room when I booked non smoking. Breakfast was promised at 7AM, but not even coffee out. Although considering the condition of the place I don't think I would have eaten anything. Not up to my expectations of a Best Western.

They have bed bugs and have trash sitting in the hallways stinking everything up, should have took that as a sign that it was dirty but the next morning after I woke up we found beg bugs in the sheets.

Thank you for your response. We have maintenance people that take the trash out twice a day to make sure that the trash bins stay clean.We also have housekeeping staff that vacuum the floors in the hallways daily. Regarding any bedbug issues, no one came and spoke to any of the staff about this issue. Had we been told about this we would have had the opportunity to have a professional come in and check the room at that time. As of now, we have no problems with bedbugs. In the future it would be helpful to let the staff know so they can check for the problem immediately. Thank you again.

I booked a 4 day stay, did not ever have any maid service, my trash was never emptied, room was less than clean, no hot breakfast and the cold cereal they put out was stale,and then the manager locked me out of my room because he said I had not paid for the last day of my reservation. WiFi is advertised but it only stays on for 30 seconds..I argued with him but in order to receive my luggage, I had to pay. The online price is $54 but when I checked in I was charged $72. Travelers Beware!!

"Better Looking than the Pictures"

The hotel looks to have been renovated and the pics online don't show it.Our room was very nice but you could tell people have been smoking in all the rooms. You can smell it in the hallway as well (not just cigarettes). If they fixed this issue the rating would have been 4 stars

"It Wasn't As Terrible As Travellers Claim..."

We stayed here for just one evening while travelling to Virginia Beach for the first time. Basically, we needed a place to sleep that wasn't going to cost a fortune! Other travelers can nit pick at the cleanliness and décor, but overall for the price we were satisfied. Check-in was smooth and took less than 5 minutes. Our room was ready when we arrived and overall it was clean. We always check for bedbugs at EVERY property we stay problems here! The beds were moderately comfortable and hot water was not an issue. There was a hint of cigarette smoke-smell in the hallway, but it was very faint. We did not eat off of the continental breakfast that was available. It appeared there were pastries and cereal. We did, however, drink a cup of coffee. If you are a coffee snob, there is a Starbucks across the street. The biggest complaint we had was that we did not have enough towels for four guests and there was no shampoo or conditioner in our room. That's really minor and was an easy fix. Keep in mind, this is not a luxury hotel. However, it met our needs for a quick overnight trip to the beach (which was only about 15-20 min drive from the hotel). The immediate neighborhood was NOT terrible. It is close to a military base. There is rubble next door where a property apparently burned down. Other than that, we felt pretty safe at this hotel and safe parking our vehicle. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful!

"Stayed again because of price, won't make the mistake again"

Despite my previous experience with this hotel, we opted to stay again, since other hotels in the area had unusually high rates. While our room was somewhat better than my room last year, it still left a lot to be desired. The bed has a spring mattress and a spring foundation - both are so loose and bouncy, you nearly wind up on the floor when you sit down. And all the springs make for a sea-sick adventure. Maybe the local sailors don't notice it, but it's noticeable to the rest of us! The room was clean-ish. Not pristine, but no obvious piles of dirty neglect. We did find a dirty q-tip under the bed, though. Somewhere along the line, I think the pipes for the sink and the shower got switched - the water coming from the tap is hard enough to soak the counter, while the water coming from the shower head is a trickle, at best. Our biggest problem came in regard to the Do Not Disturb sign. Because we've had bad experiences elsewhere, we always put a DND sign on the door, and do our own housekeeping. This hotel DOES NOT CARE if you have the DND sign up, they will come in, take it off your door, and hang it back on the inside. After the first instance (where we came back to all of our stuff moved off the bed, the bed stripped and towels pulled but NOT replaced, etc.) we complained, and asked management to let them know not to come into our room again. The VERY NEXT DAY, they went in (ignoring the DND sign on the door) and took our trash (which had 3 small receipt papers in it, but no food or anything concerning.) When we talked to the head of housekeeping (who was watching the desk at the time) why they had gone in past our Do Not Disturb sign even AFTER we had explicitly told them not to, she said, "Just to pull the trash." My problem is, this hotel gives you no room safe for your valuables, and obviously gives you no way to protect your items in your room. Almost all hotels I've been to won't go past a Do Not Disturb sign without a very valid reason, and they certainly won't move a guest's luggage/clothing/personal items. I gave this hotel a second chance, and it is the last chance. This is one of those times where you get what you pay for. I'll go spend more money elsewhere on my twice-yearly vacations to the area, just for the pleasure of maintaining my privacy and sense of security.

"Don't stay here. Not worth the money!” The '' WORST '' hotel in my life!!"

The only inn we chose randomly and booked in advance but, it turned out to be the only one we didn't like. Poor customer service, took 30 mins to check in. Wasn't said hi to or anything.The rooms didn't have bugs from what I could tell, but it is old and run down. I was so disappointed for everything the price its not deserved for that room and services, the elevator is so scary dirty and I wondering to know how old is that elevator, so I spend one night, although I paid for 2 nights. The good thing is clean bed and good locations only but, Stay away!!! Sleep in your car, or on the beach, or in the alley, anywhere but here.

"To have fun"

I have stayed at this hotel mini times over the last few years. And I must say for a hotel that is around the ocean view area of Norfolk it is hands down the best! clean inside and out! I did have a small problem with sink not working! after calling the front desk the problem was fixed. come to find out all I had to do was pull up to turn the water on! stupid me! I like the way the room doors open up inside so when you walk out your door you are in a hall way and not outside. And this is a plus! they have security not that they need it! the staff does a good job with that.
