    « Contractors hotel »

Fine if you are a business traveller as this is just a traveling man's hotel. Rooms comfortable. TV signal rubbish so don't expect to get many channels you can watch. breakfast is the normal style but good.

    « Staff? »

Had to wait 10 - 15 minutes on arrival before a staff member arrived to book me in. No recognition of being a Best Western Diamond member - other hotels at least welcome me as a regular guest! Room was clean and very quiet - happy with the room. No staff member available at breakfast so no hot food available. On checkout I advised the receptionist of no staff member available and she came across as disinterested. No offer to repay the money I paid for breakfast. Overall, room is good and wifi etc worked well. Total disinterest from staff. Will not use this hotel again.

« Overnight stay on the way to woburn safari park »

Arrived a little late but were received with a warm welcome , asked for a quiet room but room 17 is opp the entrance door so expected to be bothered by that .Opened the door to an almost spotless nice looking double room .Nice comfy bed if a little small, clean tidy and freshly decorated bathroom . Except for our neighbours banging there door we had a great nights sleep .Went down stairs to an excellent breakfast which was piping hot .

    « Suited my needs »

Clean sheets, comfy beds, close to the motorway - ticked all the boxes for my needs for this trip. The restaurant-bar was very busy on the Friday night - filled with locals with and without their families for the Fish & Chip Specials - hard to find a table. When I got a table the food was fine.

« Almost excellent and very good value on a Sunday night »

We were allocated Room 7 on the ground floor. The bedroom area was spacious, well-presented and spotlessly clean. The bed was big and comfortable with good quality linen and plenty of pillows. The en suite bathroom was a little dated but perfectly serviceable. However, there was some black mould in the grouting between the tiles. I picked this hotel because it only has thirty rooms so it was quite peaceful and breakfast was much less hectic than it would have been in a bigger hotel. Breakfast is taken in the attached "Hungry Horse" pub-restaurant which was also handy when we arrived and needed an evening meal. The staff members we encountered were all courteous and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at this Best Western and I would have given it an "Excellent" rating were it not for those signs of black mould in the bathroom. They would be easy to eliminate with an effective grout cleaner.

    « Weekend break »

Room was very clean with all the usual amenities, no safe but free WiFi. Bathroom was a bit dated and only one basic shower gel for two and a soap. We were given a room which backed onto a function room and had the noise of a disco quite loud until 11.30pm at least. The place is attached to a pub which is busy which food and drink. Breakfast was included, but absolutely no style to it whatsoever. Table and chairs dirty and breakfast ok but again not comfortable and a bit rushed. Good value for money as far as the room is concerned, but not a peaceful night.

« Nice clean and great value for money »

Stayed here for one night and I found the room, staff and food all very good. Breakfast was superb with a great cooked to order breakfast A good range of fruits and cereals. All staff very friendly and nothing seemed too much bother to them. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

    « Very good value.. »

Very good welcome. Room was lovely, very clean as was the bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Everything was great and exceptional value. Breakfast was included which was very good, plenty of choice and hot foot to order. (Tea in flasks wasn't good though), but as there were tea & coffee in the room, it didn't matter that much. We would definitely book this hotel again. Even though it is attached to The Hungry Horse, it was relatively quiet.

    « Good value place »

We have stayed here twice now. On both occasions we have found the rooms to be very clean. The staff have all been very friendly and pleasant. The breakfast is basic but we found them good. Although it is attached to a Hungry Horse pub we could not hear any noise from there when we were in our room.

« It was all going so well, such a shame »

My wife and I booked here for one of our various trips whilst checking out the revamped shopping centre in Milton Keynes (for the record it's looking good, mind you it should for a cost of 10 million), so back to this hotel. We arrived around 1700 on a Saturday, the actual hotel car park is very small so there space was not available but attached to the hotel is a Hungry Horse pub will ample parking you are allowed to use so that was OK. The reception is located around the side of the building, we were met by a young lad who was polite and friendly a gave us our WiFi door key card and explained the free breakfast options and where are room was. The corridors to the rooms were tidy with cheerful coloured paintings along the entire route to our room, the room was a standard twin and was again tidy and to a acceptable standard, bathroom was small with a tiny bath but ok for what you would need for a short stay. I was unable to get the TV to work but did not contact reception as we didn't really need to have it on, this morning the seat on the toilet has come off which we will note with them when we leave, so all in all a tidy room with nice comfy beds. As I said the hotel is joined by a interconnected door to the pub, we went here for our evening meal, it was very busy, in part due to a football match being displayed. But we found a seat and the meal was nice and very good value. So here is where the whole experience was let down, and it would have been so easy to sort on install, you get ready for a nice comfy sleep but all you can hear until 2am gone in the morning is loud banging of the room doors, these doors on all the rooms have no silent closing mechanisms like you would see in a Premier Inn for example , like most hotels they have a function room so it's not unreasonable to expect late night arrivals in rooms. Unfortunately I would have rated this hotel much higher if not for this one very annoying reason, COME ON BEST WESTERN , "LET'S HAVE A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP" GUARANTEED, like other chains. Price Good Clean Good Staff Good Location Good Sleep POOR

    « Value for Money »

I was not surprised by the bathroom, having read other reviews of this hotel - with its mis-matched peach bathroom suite, the spotty black tile grout and the black stains/mould on the door frame, that had been painted over. My extra concern was the residue left on the bath, I wished I had had the necessary materials to clean it myself, so I could use it. That being said, these were my only concerns, there was plenty of hot water, the room was clean and the bed was fine. Food in the pub restaurant next door was fine. Location was great for me and I am considering staying again, in 2 months time. Though the price will have to be right, I got a good price for this stay. I will bring bath cleaning materials with me as well, just in case. So please can you get a move on, with updating the bathrooms.

    « Disappointing »

Room was lovely. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was adequate and the shower was great. Breakfast was not exceptional. Staffing was chronic and I felt for the poor guys who were there. The food was good though. Better on the Sunday morning than the Saturday. I ended up taking my tea bags from the room in with me as tea was served in flasks and was beyond disgusting. Just the provision of tea bags and hot water would put that right. The staff themselves were friendly but over worked and way too few and far between. From an accommodation and value point of view I would have given a higher score but let down by poor staffing levels and slow service through no fault of the guys there.

« Good value place to stay »

Stayed here whilst attending a works function. This hotel is very clean, plenty of rooms and a Hungry Horse restaurant attached to it. Rooms were fair in size and contained all the amenities you'd expect from a multi chain hotel. The breakfast that was laid on was in the Hungry Horse restaurant and unfortunately was a bit of a dissapointment. Other than that I enjoyed a decent nights sleep, and a hot shower in the morning. The only thing that I can say in a somewhat negative shade is that the rooms and decor at The Broughton are in severe need of modernisation. In summary; an affordable place to stay, clean and comfortable. Just avoid the breakfast.

    « simple accommodation »

this best western is great for the price. it's not in the centre of town so is good if you're just passing through. there's a pub attached which makes it easy for meals and that's where you have your included breakfast which is a hot breakfast plus cereals, juices, toast, coffee etc. there's free cloud wifi and parking too. we were staying in the standard double room which was a really decent size with a comfortable bed & a good tv. the bathroom looks a bit dated but the shower pressure and temperature were good.

    « Good little Hotel »

Just stayed for 4 night our room was very clean and tidy staff were very helpful and friendly no road noise but l would be concerned if there was a function that went on late as our room looked over the grass area next to it but apart from that it worked for us

    « Good, enjoyable stay »

The hotel is in a quiet location with no traffic noise. Room was excellent, good decorative order and clean but the bathroom was rather dated, however, the shower was excellent. There was a good selection for breakfast: cereals, croissants, toast and they take your order for cooked breakfast, overall a good selection to choose from. Only down side to breakfast was there was only one person serving and he was quite rushed off his feet which meant coffee and orsnge juice supplies ran low so an extra person serving during busy periods would help with this. I couldn't fault the waiter serving, he was very helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I am in the area. Thankyou for an enjoyable stay.

« Really nothing special but freindly »

The hotel is attached to a village pub and offers value for money. The rooms are quite small and old. The bed is still in good shape and quality. The bathroom is super old and some stain all over. The attached pub is cool, they had the Euro 16 on TV and you get some nice bar food after a hectic day. The breakfast is an a la cart one which will be served at the pub. Typical Uk style and quality. The approximity of the pub might be a bit loud during the night if you try to catch an early rest.

« third stay and booked again for next year »

comfy beds, clean rooms, no road noise, good parking, reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff and hungry horse pub/restaurant attached. approx half hour drive from Silverstone. Fairly close to big indoor shopping Centre, and activities.

« Good overnight stop, close to M1 »

A perfectly adequate, no fuss hotel; small with easy access, parking, close to M1. Comfortable. Good breakfast. Reasonably priced. Twin room has single beds; otherwise, hard to fault as a handy, easy overnight stop.

« Very good hotel, good staff. »

We stayed here overnight and we were very pleasantly surprised at the accommodation, the food in the attached pub/restaurant and the free breakfast and parking. The rooms were well presented all looked refurbished to a good standard and the decoration and fittings were very clean and well kept. The breakfast was continental plus full English. The evening meal in the bar/restaurant was very tasty with a full menu. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Also the price was very reasonable.

    « Business trip »

Sorted a hotel for business trip in Milton Keynes and the office booked this...they obviously don't use trip advisor Very basic and dated not great value for money Pub next door does reasonable food Bed was comfortable but shower in morning awful Don't think I will be returning

    « Cheap & Cheerful »

I needed somewhere cheap to stay that was close to the M1 and not too far away from Milton Keynes city centre. This hotel fitted the bill and I booked a double room for the night at just under £60. The hotel is a minutes drive off the M1 and is very easy to get too. Upon arrival the reception was staffed and I was checked in quickly and given information on breakfast and the attached restaurant (a Hungry Horse). A lot of reviews have mentioned that they have waited ages at reception because it hasn't been staffed. It appears that during the quieter times the reception staff work in the attached restaurant. They can be contacted via a phone sitting on the front desk next to a large poster with instructions on how to get hold of them. When I was due to check out the reception desk was unmanned. I rang an extension on the phone and the receptionist turned up about 30 seconds later. Whilst I didn't catch her name she was very friendly and polite on both of the occasions I saw her. The hotel itself has a cheap and cheerful vibe. My room (number 19) was comfortable and relatively clean (slightly dusty fittings, but nothing to complain about) and served its purpose. The bathroom could have done with a revamp as it was a bit 70's-esque but apart from that I couldn't really fault it. The bed was comfy and the room also had a desk, large wardrobe and several chairs. This furniture was dated and could do with changing however it was not in bad repair. I didn't expect much more than a comfortable bed and a clean(ish) room. I got both. If you want cheap accommodation and know you're not going to get 5* quality for £60 a night then I'd recommend booking this hotel.

    « Crash pad »

So I booked this hotel as a base while I went on a trip down memory lane. The hotel was clean and tidy and staff were friendly. The only thing that let it down was having to wait around ten minutes to book in, took two calls to get someone to come to reception. All in all if you are looking for a base on the edge of MK and a good breakfast this fits the bill.

« Hungry Horse in WESTERN.......not the BEST »

The stay was was fine.....bed was fine... However.....was unable to have late check out...the hotel does not have the staff/cleaners to cover late check outs. The team seem to busy dealing with the hungry horse pub/restaurant side of the place. I am a Platinum card holder of Best I have stayed many nights in a number of the group hotels...this is first time ive been told they do not cover late check outs. I had a meal in the hungry horse before checking in..... after the meal I said that I wished to now check in hotel. I was asked to go to reception.....after waiting about 5 minutes I then rang the number on desk...this rings in the bar that I had been in when sent to reception.....young lady answered and said she would send somebody to me......5 minutes later I walked to the bar I had been in before going to reception to then phone the bar that I was now walking back to..... I did get checked in...asking again about late check out..... They do not have the staff/cleaners to deal with late check outs,as they are dealing with the hungry horse side. That was very clear from the saga of my check in.... Room was fine.... saw earlier feedback re black mould on bathroom wall/tiles. My room had some...... SORRY BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH. if people write it...hotel should deal with it. Stay was ok...nice and near where I was going...... but the horse in western.......was not the best western experience I expect

« Comfortable and Cheap xx »

Spent one night here great online price and was pleasantly surprised. Rooms are comfortable, spotless with everything you need - yes bathrooms do need updating (shower curtain that doesn't stick to you would be good lol) but shower was lovely and powerful. Yes you do have to ring through for someone to come to reception but the young staff are working their socks off in the hungry horse attached. All staff were friendly and helpful. Spent the evening in the hungry horse, lovely atmosphere cheap food. We stayed because it was easy access to Wrest Park (half hour drive) but there are lots of attractions round this area so good base xxx

    « Cheap & cheerful so don't expect a lot »

Stayed here this weekend for one night . Booked on line so got a good rate. Only chose as nothing else available near the venue for a wedding. (If honest we usually go for the Premier Inn chain). On arriving the pub garden was heaving and the car park busy but we managed to find a space. The reception was empty (not a good start) and you had to phone the bar for someone to come . Five minutes later a harassed young lad arrived . He knew nothing about how to process the Best Western Rewards card I offered him but promised if I showed the card in the morning to the receptionist she would . On arriving at our room - key card would not work so we had to return to the reception and repeat the telephone call to the bar saga! Once in the room , dirty wet towel on the floor next to the bathroom door ( obviously left by the cleaner) . Bathroom very outdated. Mould round bath etc and no where at all to put toiletries . Room however was clean and tidy and bed comfortable . On the plus side we had a reasonable nights sleep until noisy child in room next door woke us at 7am.???? Breakfast the next morning was awful. People hoovering round the tables shouting . Tv's in every seating booth( don't people talk to each other at breakfast these days). . The tea and coffee were Luke warm and stewed in flasks. No glasses, no milk and only white bread and no tongs to use. We opted for the safe option of toast and cereal. The cooked breakfasts looked reasonable enough. The poor teenage waitress looked rushed off her feet and appeared to be the only one working in the restaurant. On checkout , again no receptionist so the phone call to the bar saga repeated all over again . No receptionist on shift and no one who knew how to process the reward card. All in all 5/10. Not brilliant . I suggest the managment sort out the receptionist shifts and get them working weekends . First impressions are very important and for this , this certainly lets this hotel down. By reading other reviews it seems a regular occur acne there is no reception staff and that to me is extremely poor . For that reason I will not be recommending this hotel.

    « Bathrooms need renovating! »

Stayed here for one night through work. Having seen what they paid for my room I can say it was 100% not worth it. The room its self was nice enough and the bed comfy but the bathroom was just horrible, old with mould all around the bath which completely put me off. One good thing was they let me take my dinner from the Hungry Horse next door to eat in my room because as a single female I didn't fancy eating in the restaurant with loads of families and kids running round.

    « Great value »

We stayed here for two nights in May (Friday and Saturday) and found the hotel to be excellent value for money. The hotel is attached to a hungry horse pub which is where the included breakfast is served. We ate in the pub one evening and it was nice and very cheap. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped. There is free parking and free wi-fi (wi-fi wasn't great as kept cutting off and being slow). Central MK is a short drive away. Overall, the hotel provided everything we needed for a pleasant stay. We will definitely be using this hotel again.

« Tied in with the Hungry Horse »

If you want a cheap stop over this is ideal. However there are no separate hotel guest facilities. Conversation is nigh on impossible in and the bar/restaurant which is exceptionally busy/ Not a suitable place for young children unless you want to stay outside in all weathers

« An interesting located Hotel »

We have stayed in quite a few Best Western Hotels and always until now been very impressed from the minute you pull into the car park. This time we were a little unsure as we pulled up to an extremely noisy pub with a hotel tucked around the back but we were soon reassured once we reached reception. Although we had to wait for quite a length of time to check in, as we had to wait for someone to come through from the bar next door the check in was swift and easy as normal once he arrived. We had an extremly nice room on the ground floor which as usual was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was great the following morning so yes we would happily stay here again and we have now learnt not to judge a 'book by it's cover' as the standard of Best Western Hotels is always great

    « Fantastic staff »

Was visiting family and stayed here Saturday and Sunday. We enjoyed the whole weekend immensely. The great atmosphere in the hungry horse pub with beautiful beer garden and absolutely amazing staff who worked so hard in the glorious sunshine really did make it a perfect weekend. We will definitely be returning

Booked this hotel for 1 night as it is near Bletchley Park. No problems checking in and the man was courteous and pleasant. There were 3 of us in our party and rooms were spotless and had everything we required. We ate at the Hungry House adjoining the hotel and this offers real value for money. The fish and chips and salmon were cooked beautifully. Being a Saturday night the restaurant was really busy but only had to wait about 10 minutes for our meal. We all had a good night`s sleep. The beds were So comfortable and we all slept like babies as it was really quiet. Our rooms (14 and 15) were on the ground floor at the back and there was no noise. We paid £58.00 for a double room which included a full English breakfast. This was cooked to order and was very well presented and nice and hot. All the waiting staff were so pleasant and helpful. Would definitely visit again when in the area.

    « Value weekend away »

Great hotel, with attached reasonably priced restaurant. Good breakfast. Let us check in early. Good position near lovely park and lakes. Comfortable bed. Hot water. Plenty of parking. Not disturbed by wedding party, walls pretty thick

    « Good Location »

Good location for Milton Keynes only about 7 minutes away by car. When we arrived there was no staff at check-in seemed a bit strange but just pick up the phone and dial the number on the notice and they arrive straight away. The hotel was very clean, the bedrooms were recently decorated and modern, the bed was comfortable, There was no mould in the bathroom as someone else had reported in a previous review, it looked like there was new sealer around the bath and toilet. I had a nice 2 night stay. I would book this hotel again

« Poor quality and over priced »

On check in I had to ring extension 206 and wait 15 minutes for a member of the bar staff to finish serving before any assistance was available, the double bed I had paid for turned out to be two single beds pushed together, there was no toilet seat cover in room 19, toiletries were not replaced after the first night, sheets were not changed during my 4 night stay, food quality in the restraint was very poor, on checking out I was advised that full payment had already been taken from my Credit card without authorisation.

« Good location for Bletchley park »

Stayed here for two nights whilst we were visiting Bletchley Park, which is about 15 minutes drive away. The hotel room was fine, clean and tidy with a large king sized bed which was very comfortable. The hotel is attached to an Hungry horse restuarant where you have breakfast. The breakfasts were ample and a good choice. We ate our evening meal here on the first night and found the food good, and again reasonably priced. The hotel and pub restuarant don't seem to have a lot of staff. Indeed when we arrived there was no receptionist on duty and this was the case most of the time we were there. We found the staff very pleasant and efficient.

    « No Staff on Check-in »

Had to ring and wait for someone to check us in to our rooms and when he did arrive wasn't very helpful or interested. Room was clean but bathroom was dreadful with mould round most of the tiles. Really does need refurbishing. Food next door(at the Hungry Horse) was cheap and very good and the service was great. Certainly wouldn't rush back as I prefer a clean bathroom.

    « Review »

Firstly can I say that the room we had was very nice it was big with a very comfortable bed spotlessly clean I think the bathroom could do with updating and I couldn't get any hot water so that needs looking at . We ate in the hungry horse next door last night was ok what you expect from a hungry horse . The worse part for us was at breakfast this morning we went down at 9am bearing in mind that if was served till 10 when we got down there was no glasses for juice no juice had to ask for some no bread for toasting again glad to ask for some and the tea and coffee was awful couldn't drink it . We both had a full breakfast which was nice not very warm. I know that best western have only just take over so there are a lot of issues they need to get right but I'm sure they a will and it wouldn't stop us from going again just a few things

    « 2 night stay »

Cheap hotel which could do much better. Lack of staff on hotel side means you need to go to bar every time as phones were not working. Breakfast fine on first morning, but frozen, wet and undercooked on second day. No staff present to discuss with.

    « Value for money »

Staff attentive and very friendly. Check in easy evening food food and very inexpensive. Breakfast is to order so Nice to meet you not to have a buffet. Very pleased and would stay again. Would recommend and very close to the hospital. Costa coffee round within 3 mins drive

    « Overnighter »

Greater little place to overnight. We come here about every 6 weeks or so after visiting family and friends. Clean rooms, very acceptable breakfast, very reasonable price. Staff friendly and helpful. Ideal for our type of visit.

    « Perfect Weekend Stopover »

Booked this Best Western on line for a Bletchley Park weekend visit. The room was warm and welcoming as was the member of staff who greeted us. The real plus for us though was the attached Hungry Horse - The Broughton. The place was heaving on this particular Saturday evening but even so there were enough tables to choose from and the service was quick, precise and friendly. The food served was excellent. A buffet breakfast was served here next morning just for the Best Western guests. Would I stay again ? You bet.

« Comfy, clean and great price »

The rooms are lovely and clean. Bathroom a bit dated but it was clean and the shower was good. The pub does good food at a good price. The only gripe (though I get why they do it) is that there is night reception. At 2am someone decided that the music channel really loud was a good idea. Not the fault of the hotel I know. As I was traveling with my little girl I was unable to leave my room to ask them to shut up, with no one on reception I had to endure it. Overall all though clean and comfy

« Comfy beds, polite staff, and onsite pub »

Comfy beds, polite staff, and refurbished rooms and breakfast at the attached pub makes for a comfortable stay. Even if your room rate doesn't include breakfast, you'll find the price very reasonable. Breakfast is a continental buffet with the basics, such as cereal, toast, jam, juice, coffee or tea, plus Full English (regular or large) is available. There are also some smaller cooked breakfast options. Quality of the breakfast was fine. One of the attractions of this Best Western is the onsite pub/restaurant. Should you arrive before 11pm (midnight on Friday and Saturday) you can avail yourself of the pub for a nightcap. Food prices in the pub are very reasonable, with most mains under £7. On Wednesday there is a curry + pint option for £5. For he-men, there are 'Big Plate classics' for £8-£11. On Tuesday you can get any Big Plate special for £6. If you want a meal, be aware that the kitchen closes at 10pm. Don't expect 3 or 4-star amenities as in as some of the other Best Western properties, it's more like 2-star, but certainly good enough for a 1-2 night stay. Although the price was comparable , we found the decor is more attractive than some of the budget chains. (Note that the bathroom fixtures are a bit dated, though supposedly refurbishment is underway.) A short distance from the hotel, within walking distance is an area of a few shops with a co-op supermarket where you can find anything you need. Although the hotel is near the M!, it is far enough away not to have traffic noise.

    « Good nights sleep »

This is a budget hotel but with lovely comfortable beds and a clean room. The tea and coffee facilities are good. The staff appear to be shared between the attached pub and the hotel but were efficient and friendly. The bedroom looked recently refurbished and was nicely decorated and furnished but the bathroom was not. While clean, the shower was feeble to the point I couldn't use it to wash my hair. For a one night stay this was not too much of a problem but would have been for any longer a visit. Breakfast is served in the Hungry Horse restaurant and while the Full English breakfast was lovely, I would have preferred a choice which included cereals rather than fried food or toast The Internet connection was appalling even very early in the morning . Overall, if you are just staying for one night and need a good nights sleep then this is a good choice.

« rapidly slipping down the slope »

this used to be a reasonable hotel with very comfy beds nice pub attached and good staff, now its a shadow of its former self and best western need to take a look at service levels at this hotel, broken televisions with no replacements for your whole weeks stay, rooms unmade when you return in the evening, front desk staff refusing to refund your credit card if you check out early despite booking a room that says cancellations are allowed, shifty people hanging round you car in the car park late evening are all things me and my colleagues have had to deal with recently, poorest customer service in a long time

« Great value for money »

Very clean presentable hotel, friendly staff, good room very clean and presentable, good on site parking, good beer as well. Would stay here again very local to Milton Keynes centre and to M1 junction 14

« Reasonable, comfortable but room to improve »

I've stayed here twice now in recent weeks. It is usually reasonably priced in comparison to other hotels in Milton Keynes. It has recently joined the Best Western chain. The hotel is attached to a Hungry Horse pub and it has a strange separate entrance/reception. Externally, there is some room for improvement here. The entrance seems to gather lots of smokers. The rooms are adequate yet comfortable. It needs some more basics like better toiletries. Food is easily available from the pub, and it is not bad. The price of such is quite good. Breakfast is OK, but on both occasions I was not able to get brown or whole meal bread. Staff at the pub were not good, but the hotel staff were friendly and efficient. Free parking, good wifi and reasonable pricing. Just needs a little TLC to presentation in corridors and reception.

    « Overnight Stay »

Good service, clean and comfortable room with tea & coffee making facilities, Beds were comfortable. On site restaurant was good and had a varied choice, the full english breakfast was of good standard.

    « unsettled night »

on our stay at the Milton Keynes hotel there was an unfortunate event with the fire alarm being set off, this woke our daughter who had just got off to sleep. we traveled from Southampton to Milton Keynes for a gymnastic competition which our daughter was competing in. we thought it would be nice to travel up the night before so she got a good night rest which ended up not being the case due to a fault with the fire alarm, this lead to her being very distressed and unsettled, so much that she pushed her bed next to mine so she was close to me and slept holding my arm due to being so unsettles by the alarm and the lack of reassurance from staff that the situation was in hand and it was not an emergency. I feel that if the situation was handled more sympathetically and more assurance was given then maybe i would have scored to hotel higher as the rest of our stay was overall ok.

The rooms were absolutely fine as one would expect but the much anticipated full English breakfast was less so. Beautifully cooked eggs were accompanied by acceptable bacon and sausage but cold tasteless baked beans and mushrooms which had barely touched the pan. The best thing about the hotel were the staff who were cheerful and friendly.

I decided last minute to book this hotel as a pit stop on my way home from Luton airport, and got a very good rate on I wanted somewhere not too far from the motorway, with free parking and wifi, and this place ticked all of the boxes. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area with a pub attached. On arrival there was no one in reception, but I phoned through to the bar as instructed and someone was there within a couple of minutes. My room was on the ground floor and seemed to have been modernised recently. The bathroom suite was a bit old fashioned, but the shower was very hot and powerful and the towels seemed new. Everywhere was very clean and I could smell bleach in the bathroom! Some basic toiletries were provided and there was tea, coffee & biscuits in the room. There was also lots of wardrobe space and a hairdryer. I had a nice meal in the pub at the evening, and breakfast was included in my rate - also in the pub. There was a small selection of pastries and juice, and you could also order hot food from the breakfast menu. I had an English breakfast with toast and it was very nice. Overall I had a very comfortable stay.

« Nice Rooms shame about the Pub with the sticky carpet and tables »

Disappointed that the information about this Hotel did not include the fact that it was linked to a hungry horse. The room was decorated nicely but was missing some basics such as a hair dryer and ironing board. The room was clean, looks like a recent upgrade of the soft furnishing but the bathroom was very old, peach and cold. The staff are good and welcoming, but not very chatty or enthusiastic about the local area. But they seamed to be chatty outside the bedroom door at 6am, The breakfast was nicely presented

Stayed one night with daughter. Clean and pleasant budget hotel. Great English breakfast. Bathroom was a bit tired, Beds really comfortable! Staff were helpful and friendly. Great convenient location.

    « Great service »

The hotel was bright and clean and we had a family function for 22 people last night. All 22 meals were delivered within 4 minutes of each other and the food quality was great. I would certainly recommend this hotel and the staff were so receptive and pleasant - on member of the party was feeling slightly poorly and staff immediately brought iced water for her. Thanks for the service. Breakfast service was very good and equally attentive.

    « Overpriced budget hotel »

Hotel requires upgrade, rooms are a decent size but decor is tired and walls are very thin. The reception is mainly manned by a telephone which connects to bar staff in adjoining Hungry Horse pub who turn up eventually. Most of the food on the menu is prepackaged and deep fried, very little in the way of healthy options. However fish and chips on special at £5 were excellent and the highlight of my visit. Most of the hotel staff appear to be on minimum wage and therefore are uninterested in customer satisfaction.

« Good staff, comfortable rooms, recommended »

Very comfortable rooms, stayed in the same room twice with a good view across the car park and the greenery. Staff both in the hotel and the adjacent Hungry Horse Hotel are superb, nothing being too much trouble and always willing to engage in conversation. The fact that this excellent hotel is just 3 miles from where I have regular meetings makes it even better.
