"Perfect stay over "

Nat-Max-Travels, Rossendale, United Kingdom 30/04/2021

Decided to have a stay over here while visiting Llangollen and what a lovely stay it was. We had an enormous room with a lovely view of the castle. Breakfast we decided to sit outside in the sun and that was delightful. In the morning we booked in massages for the both of us which set us up nicely forward journey home. Thanks again to all the lovely staff, we shall return.

"Nice reception area. Room decor was tired"

User 26/04/2021

Once in the hotel room the decor is tired and quite disappointing for the price. 2 night stay and with having meals in room (due to covid & expected) too you notice more. No seal of shows/bath panel so water went all over the floor and was very dangerous. Grout was yellow. Paint work tired we moved the tv forward and paint was missing behind there. Chipped bedside table.

"Lovely Afternoon Tea"

Lynda M, Connah's Quay, United Kingdom 25/11/2020

Myself and my husband went to this hotel today for afternoon tea. It was a lovely experience. The hotel is a gorgeous country hotel and spa. It is also dog friendly. Just outside of the pretty town of Llangollen is in a great location for the town, long walks in the surrounding countryside and, for the more adventurous, ideally located for all the waters ports such as white water rafting and canoeing. The staff are really friendly - a special thank you to Jasmine for looking after us- and the food absolutely lovely. Highly recommend this hotel - we will definitely be back.

"Superb overnight stay"

Daffodilcymraeg, Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant, United Kingdom 24/11/2020

Perfect from start to end. All staff friendly, attentive and professional. Covid safe throughout. Lovely hydropool experience, dinner and breakfast delicious and plentiful and room was nicely decorated with the most comfiest of beds. Will not hesitate to book again.

"Nice Hotel"

Danielle F, North Wales, United Kingdom 20/11/2020

The bathroom in the room had underfloor heating which was a nice touch, three course meal in the evening was tasty & staff all really polite. We used the spa, only the hydrotherapy pool was open (due to covid rules as you would expect) but it was very nice. Breakfast was disappointing, there wasn't enough made so we only got a sandwich. However we had a £20 drinks tab which was taken off our bill when we checked out as an apology which we appreciated. Hotel is very close to Llangollen town centre & the canal.

"Great Welsh Gem"

Timothy2915, North Wales, United Kingdom 19/11/2020

Just stayed here for a 2 night break. Great value, attentive staff and delicious food. Breakfast could have been better but let's not take away what they have achieved after the Welsh lockdown. The room was a good size and was fresh and well designed.

"Lovely Weekend away"

Veronica J, Cheshire, United Kingdom 16/11/2020

What a guy. He is a great asset to your business brings such infectious happiness to a room. All in all very nice ended up staying another night too and will definitely be back. Thank you.

643debrar, Bala 15/11/2020

Visited with my sister for a much needed rest and pampering, can't fault anything with hotel, very welcoming staff, very helpful, hotel manager Gavin very helpful and friendly, all staff very friendly, the spa was fantastic and massage was one of the best I have ever had. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be visiting again with my husband.great work wild pheasant keep up the great work.

"Get away"

spenrol02, Rhosneigr, United Kingdom 15/11/2020

Treated to a birthday weekend here, lovely room apart from the Cobwebs!! Seeing as it is meant to of had a 'covid deep clean' apart from that no complaints about the room. The hotel is lovely, clean and covid safe. Dev in the restaurant is a star chatty and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, compliments to the chef the food was tasty and well presented. The hydo pool is open but would of been even nicer to of been able use the sauna and steam room, these are closed due to covid, you only get an hour slot. Will be visiting again

"One night escape"

Lee C, St. Asaph, United Kingdom 23/10/2020

Stayed here just before lockdown in Wales hotel has lovely rooms and spa facilities. Food in restaurant wasn't great. Breakfast was fine. All staff that we dealt with were all friendly and helpful to be fair.

"Superb meal"

Jjib1, Rotherham, United Kingdom 21/10/2020

We enjoyed a superb meal at the Wild Pheasant, Llangollen. I had the Rib Eye steak burger and my partner had the fillet of Salmon, which she got garlic potatoes with. When we placed the order, I asked if I could swap my fries for garlic potatoes, that was no problem at all, and we both really enjoyed it. We didn't stay in the hotel, we were staying locally, on holiday.

Cara Roberts, General Manager at Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa, responded to this review
Good afternoon, I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback regarding your dining experience with us recently. On behalf of myself and my team here at the Wild Pheasant Hotel we are delighted you had a superb meal with us and enjoyed the service we have provided to you. We hope to see you again soon! Kind Regards, Cara Roberts General Manager

"Lovely relaxing stay within our lockdown county. Peaceful and pleasant."

karina w, Rhyl, United Kingdom 05/10/2020

As a genius member of, I was lucky enough to receive a free upgrade to the king room. Whilst the room isnt as majestic as the name implies, the bed was very comfy and large. The grounds and bar are lovely as are the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them, even in these difficult times. We did not get to use the spa for obvious reasons, and opted to head into town for a lovely breakfast and the local cafe before wandering the sights. Very pleasant break, no faults really as we got a bargain via for a last minute stay. Though as the room was quite big, we struggled to see the TV all the way across the other side of the room, so maybe could do with a bigger one, but just nit picking now.

Cara Roberts, General Manager at Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa, responded to this review
Good afternoon Karina, I am delighted to hear you had a lovely relaxing stay with us, especially during these uncertain times. My reception team will always try their best to upgrade guests if there is availability so it's great to hear you enjoyed your free upgrade. I hope you do decide to return to us in the future and you can make use of our sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy pool. Kind Regards, Cara Roberts General Manager

"Lovely hotel.. Enjoyed our stay.."

User 30/09/2020

Good location.. Lovely decor, Friendly staff. Could do with double glazing.. Wanted to book a table but was told fully booked but was 8 empty tables...Would stay again but prebook restuarant.. On the night we did get a table food was fast and good...Desserts was nice but small..

Cara Roberts, General Manager at Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa, responded to this review
Good afternoon, I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us recently! I do apologise with the confusion on the restaurant, we are being overly cautious at the moment with the current restrictions and just getting used to the "new normal". I am glad you did dine with us and the food & service was as expected to be. We hope to see you again in the not to distant future! Kind Regards, Cara Roberts General Manager

"Fantastic break!"

KimY81, Widnes, United Kingdom 27/09/2020

My sister and I booked this hotel for a nights break, spa package and afternoon tea. It couldn't be faulted. The food was superb! Every dish! Staff so polite and working tirelessly to keep everybody safe and areas clean. The spa was wonderful! We had an amazing time and enjoyed every minute, thank you!!!

Cara Roberts, General Manager at Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa, responded to this review

"A Lovely Hotel With Great Service and Excellent Location"

GordonW318, Gloucester, United Kingdom 26/09/2020

This hotel has recently been renovated and is probably the best hotel in Llangollen. It is situated on the main road out of the town but also within reasonable walking distance to the town centre and attractions; if you need a taxi the fare is only £5 one way to the town centre, quite cheap. It has a large car park in front of the hotel. If you need any shopping there is an Aldi supermarket within a 3 minute walk and so the hotel is ideally situated. The hotel is good for touring the area and even going further afield as there is so much lovely countryside and place to see. The staff here make the hotel so friendly and welcoming from reception staff to the waiters; nothing is too much trouble for them. The Covid 19 precautions are first class with sanitizers everywhere and social distancing given a priority. They could do no more regarding the observing the Covid rules. If you have any queries or questions just ask they are only too willing to help. I would definitely return.

"Perfect Location"

carol ann s, Nantwich, United Kingdom 25/09/2020

My husband and I stayed here around 10 days ago just before the weather started to break. We were staying for one night and intending to have dinner also. Word of warning and why I am awarding only 4 stars, if you intend to eat at the hotel during your stay make sure that when you make the booking you insist on arranging your dinner Reservation, at the same time. My husband was told “ oh no bother book your table when you check in” ..... Mistake ! When we checked in we could only book for dinner at either 6pm or 9pm because all other slots in the restaurant were already filled. I complained but was told there was nothing they could do. I understand that Covid has altered how we can eat out now but we were lead to believe that all time slots would be available, so if you have a preference ? Make sure you book in advance. Aside from that, the food was very good and no complaints about dinner, at breakfast however, I was served my hot food minutes after my fresh fruit cocktail ? Everything else about this venue is very good! Lovely large room, en-suite, comfortable beds and all your needs catered for. Good Covid restrictions in place and we both felt very safe so we will definitely stay here again, however, next time we will make sure we book our dinner reservation when we book the hotel.

"Mrs Bryan"

User 23/09/2020

We went for a long weekend from Friday to Sunday, didn't know what to expect but all I can say is WOW, nothing was too much trouble, the staff couldn't do enough for us all very friendly and helpful, even had a couple of treatments on Saturday in the spa well with it. Thoroughly recommend it.

"Lovely stay"

Cherith H, Preston, United Kingdom 23/09/2020

Fabulous stay , all COVID precautions in place , room clean and comfortable all be it a little dark . Lovely spa with relaxing ambience . Shame sauna and steam room closed but in avoidable in current situation . Hotel perfectly suited for easy V access v to stunning scenery with lots to do near by . All staff polite and helpful . Would definitely stay again

"Highly recommended"

User 20/09/2020

My partner and myself went for one night 19th-20th of Sep. We needed a break away due to work and lock down stress. We where besotted by the look of the whole property, absolutely stunning. The staff where extremely lovely and highly attentive (literally bend over backwards to make you happy). We had an evening meal there on the 19th, our waiter (He was from Spain and wore very lovely specticles (I didn't catch his name) he was the best waiter we have ever had,he didn't mind talking to us and also helped me pay for the food as my partner would pay and it was my treat to him. There was also another waiter (blonde and black hair 1/2 - we didn't catch his name either) he was soo lovely, and was very helpful with our drinks. The atmosphere was fantastic. We've come home happy and extremely relaxed. It was soo lovely that my partners parents are currently booking a weekend away there. Diolch yn fawr (Thank you very much) for all your hospitality and we will deffo be coming again soon.

"Loved it"

SmithLM_20, Wirral, United Kingdom 20/09/2020

Loved this hotel. We go away often for weekends and this was a great find. Relaxed friendly staff, brilliant location and filling breakfast. Booked standard double room and we were impressed, spacious with great views. Will be back to try out the spa.

"Lovely but mixed "

Louie2567, Telford, United Kingdom 16/09/2020

We came for the romantic package - the chocolates in the room and fizz was great. They forgot to put the soap in the room but this was rectified when we pointed it out but defeated the object of a covid secure room . There was some re decoration needed in the room which could have been done while it was shut during covid, we booked the spa which was nice but some of the jets weren't working we were advised they were charging but it was clean and well managed. The staff were attentive the evening meal was nice but the potatoes were microwaved and for 17.00 for a main this is poor. The starter and desert was nice. I noticed though the staff worked hard throughout the service. The rooms are not very sound proof so I got woken up by other guests. The breakfast was nice although no one explained the rules. The same staff were on that worked the night before so I can see how hard they work. A lot of people were making complaints which was a shame- I witnessed at least two people . The location is perfect and the staff work hard which is why I have given it more of a generous review. I would visit again to give it a second go.

"Nice hotel, questionable breakfast"

robgW5907YR, Bicester, United Kingdom 15/09/2020

We were looked after well by the staff. Hotel rooms were clean and spacious, dinner was good, fair selection. I have an egg allergy and there were no desserts available for me, which suggests there are also no vegan desserts. Breakfast on our first morning was really good, however on our second morning we were served hash browns which were still frozen in the middle and cold scrambled eggs which was disappointing to say the least. We were quickly served another breakfast, but there was no compensation or anything offered as an apology. Location is about a 10 minute walk into town, very close to river access about a 200m walk. Would probably stay here again.

"Top Job Guys"

100PCTBEEF, Chester, United Kingdom 10/09/2020

Only stayed here for 1 night but had an excellent stay. Firstly the location was perfect about a 5-10 min walk into Llangollen town centre. Staff were wonderful, special shout out to the GM Gavin, treating every customer like his first, great job team.

"Was nice"

685coralied, Sheffield, United Kingdom 04/09/2020

It was a nice hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the thermal spa, but another couple were taking photographs in the spa which shouldn't be allowed - it made me feel quite uncomfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant one night, the food was excellent & the waiter was very friendly & attentive. Would recommend the salmon! There was a long wait for breakfast, but the food was good when it arrived. I wouldn't book any activities for 90 minutes after your breakfast slot!

"A bit underwhelming"

User 31/08/2020

I wish I could give this review more than 3 stars because the hotel has so much potential but just really doesn't deserve anything higher. Very easy to find, loads of free parking, fabulous location for Llangollen. The room itself was clean but very dark, it didn't even have pictures on the walls or decoration? They've tried really hard to adapt for covid but they've over complicated it, you have to book everything! So just can't just wake up and strole down for breakfast, you have to tell them the time you want it when you check in. Also the breakfast was terrible. You are not allowed out your seat for the buffet... So you have to ask the staff to bring things for you. We waited 20mins for our coffee and we were in the restaurant area for 50mins in total for breakfast. Evening food was average but would not recommend. The spa was good because it was free but the only thing that was open is the warm spa pool (max 6 people) which is nice, but again, you have to book in advance. Okay if you have a voucher but not worth £160 a night at all!

"Bank holiday stay"

LHegz23, Liverpool, England, United Kingdom 31/08/2020

It's the staff that make this hotel. From checking in with a friendly smile, to the guys on the bar and serving breakfast. They work so so hard, and must be additional pressure with current Covid. We came back with my mum and dad for lunch, as we where so happy with the service. Hotel was exceptional clean. Beds and pillows not the comfiest, but nothing beats your own bed. Special shout out to the Indian man ( apologies if not Indian no name tag ), he was so friendly and polite and telling jokes was watching him with customers he is a big asset 5* to him.

"Good location but poor customer service and fire safety."

fireman999, The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, United Kingdom 30/08/2020

This hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Llangollen and we booked a 3 night stay with our dog in August. It has a large car park with very little security and control or recording of registration numbers. We checked in online and arrived at 14.00 as confirmed only to be told that our room was being prepared and not quite ready and could we come back in 30 minutes. We came back at 14.30 only to be told that there was a problem finding a dog friendly room and would we go and get a drink in the bar. At 15.00 we went back to ask what the progress was and were informed that a room was ready and so we went to our room that had obviously just been cleaned as we could smell some of the cleaning materials and the windows were open but the room was clean and satisfactory. One of my first tasks was to check the fire precautions and I was surprised to find the following problems: 1. Fire doors "wedged open" 2. Fire resisting doors with no intumescent or smoke seals. 3. Fire resisting doors not up to the required standard. 4. Some electrical items with no record of PAT testing other over 12 months old. 5. Poor housekeeping. 6. Emergency lights that would not operate. 7. emergency exit signs of different standards. We went for dinner in the evening and the menu was very limited and did not change for the 3 nights that we were there and we found that some of the restaurants in the town offered much better choice, value and service. We were also given incorrect bias on 2 occasions. In respect of breakfast - each day the plates were stone cold and one morning we timed the breakfast delivery and from the time it was put on the plate it was 4 minutes standing on the counter before the server brought it to our table - I did point out these problems to the new Food and Drinks Manager and he indicated that he had only been there for a week and this should have been his day off and he was operating with only 60% of his staff. It was also noted that the person on the breakfast buffet had quite long hair and whilst working on the servers had a habit of flicking her hair. I did go through these concerns at checkout and was informed that they would be passed to the General Manager. This hotel has great potential but at present requires considerable improvement before it is up to an acceptable standard. The Fire Risk Assessment also requires urgent review.

"Decent Enough, Service Could Improve"

EODUK, Gillingham, United Kingdom 26/08/2020

Stayed for one night, easy to find, large carpark, room OK. Small bar with limited choice. Due to social distancing limited tables so couldn't have dinner ( we ordered takeaway). Breakfast was OK, staff not really engaging, pretty soulless atmosphere. Wouldn't stay again.

"Nice food but service disappointed me"

clairabellx, West Mids 26/08/2020

We came for lunch as there was no availability for dinner and although my reservation had not been recorded, we were found a table, which was helpful. We had reviewed the menu displayed on tables outside while waiting and were both looking forward to a particular dish (hake and chips) from the Main Menu. When we came to order we were told that only the Lunch menu was available, so we reluctantly changed our order. My daughter has a nut allergy and we had to run the gauntlet of 'may contain' caveat which we agreed to risk, but we usually find that restaurants are much more helpful these days than trotting out this caveat. After our order went through, a neighbouring table arrived and they requested a vegetarian option as they were not happy with the Lunch menu. The same waitress offered them the Main Menu, which we had been denied!! As we left, another table was eating the hake and chips outside!! You can imagine that we found this a little frustrating that others' needs were accommodated, especially when we had expressed medical/dietary needs. Overall, the food was nice but customer service did not work for us. I realise they may have run out of sympathy with the Eat Out to Help Out promo creating lots of demands for staff. We might return and try again for the hake and chips, but I do feel quite disappointed

"Great apart from slamming doors and the smell of weed"

User 25/08/2020

We were really looking forward to staying here and although the prices of drinks were through the roof the food was 1st class as were the staff serving. What really spoilt it was the noise in the rooms, the walls are paper thin and the guests by us were slamming the door every few minutes as they were walking in and out of each other's rooms. I'd suggest putting a slow close on the doors, or making guests aware of how loud they are and to have respect for other guests especially after 11pm (this went on until the early hours on both nights) Also. Guests were smoking weed in their rooms and if you thought waking from slamming doors was bad enough. We were then engulfed by fumes from recreational drugs. I hope the door situation is resolved because I know other guests have commented below. There isn't a lot the hotel can do about the use of drugs in their establishment I guess. As we had such a broken sleep I can't recommend this hotel to stay, but it's worth a visit to the restaurant.

"Wild pheasant"

philjeffreys, England, United Kingdom 19/08/2020

Nice looking hotel, set in lovely grounds, just 15 minute walk from llangollen town centre, rooms comfortable interior Nice, bar area good out side seating, staff helpful and pleasant, but hotel suffers with maintainance problems, mainly plumbing. The breakfast poor and overpriced, would stay again but would not book food

"Lovely Hotel Made Even Better By Staff"

susan f, Liverpool, United Kingdom 19/08/2020

Hotel is in a good location being only ten minutes walk from town centre but is in a quiet spot. Staff were all very friendly . Evening meal was delicious and serving staff were fab. Breakfast was good. Two staff were super busy but coped really well.

"Relaxing stay"

barbara b, Liverpool, United Kingdom 14/08/2020

Excellent location, great to have a large car Park, beautiful well kept gardens , all very clean, and modern, large rooms , comfy bed , gorgeous walk in shower , only thing was a shelf was needed in the bathroom, know were to put your things, lovely thick towels , asked for a fan , which was brought to our room right away, we were there when we had the heatwave

TIZZY608, Wales, United Kingdom 13/08/2020

Arrived here for 1 night stay, after being at home for over 16 weeks. On arrival a lovely lady greeted us on reception. We had a early check in of 2pm, and had booked a execetive room. The room was very clean, we where told by the cleaner that the air con was not working , so where given two fans, as it was a very hot day. Spent time in the bar at night, great nights sleep. At breakfast there where only a few people aloted for a 10am breakfast, the service was chaotic, the young staff had no supervision, contiental selection only consisted of yougurt, a small selection of pastries, and cereal.Tea was given with no spoons or sugar, when our breakfasts arrived my haddock and poached eggs where swimming in water, poached eggs for myself and husband where rock hard, we sent them back, only to recieve the same again, my husband had asked for toast 4 times, when it finally arrived only toasted on one side, and no butter , they couldnt find any the waiter said, we left the breakfast. I did complain at reception, and the breakfast was taken of the bill, we where told by the reception staff that they are aware of the bad reports in the restaurants, if so why not fix this or not offer breakfast at all, We left, and then had to find a cafe so we could eat, not a great experience for a up market hotel.

"Great hotel!"

User 08/08/2020

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and my family and 2 dogs were made very welcome. The Manager and staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was superb with a good choice of local produce. The rooms were large and the decor was very good, clean and fresh. The gardens areas were well kept and were very pleasant to sit in as the weather was good. The local shops and attractions such as the steam trains were within walking distance. We will definitely book again!

"Short break"

speedy1510, Crewe, United Kingdom 05/08/2020

Nice hotel. Location quiet 5 min walk from town. Shame spa was closed but hey ho. Suite rooms was comfy and spacious. Nice balcony in room to sit outside and watch the world go by. Staff were lovely. Restricted menu in the evenings in restaurant. Breakfast abit buffet style but staff served you. Do to covid restrictions spa was closed. But had a jacuzzi in room bathroom.

"Above and beyond"

Fionamargaret2015, Corwen, United Kingdom 29/03/2020

Gemma and Natalie really made my husband and I special. These ladies couldn't do enough. Even when gas went off they found heaters and cooked our evening buffet. We have booked our next event for 2021 and cant wait for the hotel to reopen

"Awful experience and worst breakfast ever had."

208leilah, London, United Kingdom 16/03/2020

Breakfast was the worst breakfast I have had internationally and that is saying something. There was half an egg shell in the scrambled eggs and when the waitress refilled, I expected her to swap it out - rather she tipped the new egg over the old egg and egg shell. Disgusting. We had to ask 2 times for a hot drink. Finally we got it, mid breakfast (I ended up having toast and jam as the bacon was full of fat and sausages were swimming in grease). Me and my partner slept in a double bed and each time either of us moved during the night, the whole bed would rock from side to side waking one of us or both of us up. My partner has an orthopedic shoulder pillow which we take away with us on holiday. We accidentally left it in the room and called up the same day to ask if we could come and collect. They told us that it wasn't there! Seriously would not recommend this place to anyone.

"Birthday Treat for Hubby"

User 15/03/2020

The Ladies who gave us our treatments in the spa were superb all in all a fantastic relaxing break! Would highly recommend this Lovely place thank you x

"1 night stay"

steven p, Rhuddlan, United Kingdom 10/03/2020

pretty good but could do with a few improvements. food good but a low hygiene rating which was only noticed on checkout. 50% of jacuzzi's in the spa not working. room very nice and friendly staff. bit of a mixed bag really.

"Great location."

John B, Ormskirk, United Kingdom 09/03/2020

Lovely hotel in a lovely setting right next to the river. Short walk to town and the ever popular preserved railway. Nice pubs and cafes. Recommended for a day out or stay. Nice walks along the river bank.

"Mid week relaxation"

Dave B, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom 07/03/2020

This was our 4th mid week stay over the past 3 years just to relax and enjoy the spa facilities. Apart from a couple of minor hiccups in the restaurant, which were addressed immediately, it was excellent. A ten minute riverside walk to Llangollen and perfect base for exploring North Wales.

"we stayed 1st march for 2 nights"

"Not as good as it's made out to be"

karen927, Liverpool 01/03/2020

This is a bit of a mixed bag. Friends had said how nice it was but we were a bit disappointed as it didn't meet our expectations. The hotel is a in a nice spot with plenty of parking but signposting from the town centre would help. The communal rooms were nice enough and the staff were very friendly and welcoming - plus points. It did take a while to get served at the bar at lunchtime and it was tricky adding costs to the room tab as the server hadn't been trained how to do this ! Bedroom was nice, clean and quiet but the beds were very soft and the pillows thick and hard so I didn't sleep well which was not good - Beds needs upgrading and a choice of pillows should be offered. Bathroom was ok but try as we might we could not get the shower linked to the bath taps to work so ended up with a luke warm bath - not good. An electric shower would be a real benefit. Breakfast was nice with a good choice of hot and cold food but fresh rolls as well as bread for toast would be good too. Also it would be nice to have hot plates instead of cold ones as hot food went cold very quickly and to have sweetener on the table as standard instead of having to ask for it -it was included with the very nice bedroom tray so is available. I was looking at this hotel to bring my parents for their diamond wedding in the summer but on this visit we'll look elsewhere

"1 night stay for meeting in Llangollen. "

Lloyd_Bowen86, Caerphilly, United Kingdom 23/02/2020

Ideal location, friendly staff and good food. Room was a little rough around the edges but nothing which made me complain. There's a spa but no gym which is a little disappointing. Staff are friendly and helpful with local knowledge.

"Lovely hotel"

User 23/02/2020

Great hotel, very clean, spacious rooms, great good and superb spa facilities. Very close to Llangollen. Staff very friendly and the facilities were great. Would definately stay again in the future. Loved it here.

"A lovely little break"

User 23/02/2020

We stayed at the Wild Pheasant Hotel and Spa as a couple, to celebrate my hubby's upcoming 50th! A bottle of prosecco and a box of chocolates greeted us in our very comfortable room. We booked a couple's massage at the spa, which was excellent and set us up nicely for exploring beautiful Llangollen. Diolch yn fawr iawn.

"Underwhelmed by visit to Spa"

whatahol, Chester, United Kingdom 20/02/2020

The first clue that things weren't great was when I couldn't contact the staff in the Spa by phone to discuss our visit and what options we could choose for our visit. Eventually I managed to make contact by email and booked a half day with a 25 min treatment. On arrival at 12.00, we went to the Spa to tell them we'd arrived and were going for lunch before coming to the Spa for our 1.00 booking. We went to the bar and struggled finding any staff to place our order. Eventually, someone came and got our drinks and took our order. We asked if we could have afternoon tea after our Spa and this request was met with an immediate NO ! You have to order 24 hours before, Who Knew ? We went to the Spa for our allocated time and there were no staff around. The changing room was full to capacity with women trying to change after visiting the Spa and women arriving to use the Spa. This led to a queue for the lockers which I find totally unacceptable when I paid £40 for me and £40 for my daughter to use these facilities !! The tables by the lounger beds and chairs were full of glasses and plates which hadn't been cleared away. There was a water cooler but no glasses.. No staff around atall which, if there was an incident, is very bad practice. Overall not impressed atall

Having returned after a three year interval I was impressed with the renovations to date, however the staff need to focus on the customers requirements, this could be so much better especially as there is no other big hotels nearby.

"2 Night Break"

wommble, Chester, United Kingdom 19/01/2020

We booked this hotel to get away for a few nights. For the price the hotel is great. The 3 course meal we had was lovely and the waitress who looked after us (didnt catch her name but she had a dog called bella) was fantastic. The spa is small but very relaxing and we used it loads. The room a little dated but perfectly clean and pleasant. The only negative is was that one of the staff members was a stand offish at times.

"Birthday trip"

409lesleyb, Chester 18/01/2020

Won this in a raffle from my foster sons school summer fair .. so treated my husband to a surprise break away on his 50th birthday. Had a lovely time away, staff very friendly & professional. Rooms were decorated lovely.

"Overpriced. Underwhelming."

michaelluke, London, United Kingdom 15/01/2020

A very disappointing and over-priced stay in what should be a nice hotel - good location, nice decor and layout - but let down by poor management standards. I paid £100 for a comfortable but unremarkable double room. On arrival my room was freezing cold and, struggling for a while with a non-functioning wall-mounted air con system, I realised that it was a plug in radiator - not plugged-in in anticipation of my arrival. It took 30 minutes to warm-up. The bathroom was less than clean and the towels apparently thrown on the rail not folded. There was house-keeping paperwork and a pen on the shelf in the room so I assume the staff member had been called away urgently. Only four hangers in the wardrobe. I ate in the restaurant and the sea bass was excellent but the large glass of nondescript Rioja at £9 would have made a Soho sommelier blush. At breakfast I was in the dining room for 15 minutes without even being offered tea or coffee so went back to my bedroom and made a cup there with the kettle. I didn't eat the hot breakfast as the scrambled eggs were the most dehydrated I had seen. Had I managed to catch the server's eye I would have ordered fresh eggs. A short walk in the grounds in front of the hotel before work revealed a charming wooden bridge spanning a fish pond full of litter. Welcoming and friendly staff let down by their own management. Llangollen is not blessed with hotels but I'm afraid I wouldn't stay again at this one.

"So average! "

Debbie P, Manchester, United Kingdom 13/01/2020

We stayed in a two night break in January this year having never stayed at this particular hotel before. The window in our room was single glazed and there was large puddles of water in the sill. There was no heating in in our room and therefore cold as it was January. We were told the heating came on at 6pm. I wanted to be warm and cosy but wasn't. There were no spare blankets in the room either. The spa was nice and we enjoyed our hot stone massage. However it's not big so in busy times I would suspect a bit cramped. This was the best part of our stay. We ate dinner in the restaurant and felt completely ripped off at the prices. The food was bland and the reality and small portions do not match how enticing it reads in the menu. The chicken tikka was literally boiled chicken and rice no sauce. The waitress said she would tell the chef but there was no further action; an offer to replace the dish with something else maybe??? I got the impression the kitchen was interested if guests were enjoying the food or not. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. I emailed reception after we left concerning a piece of jewellery I might have left in the room and didn't receive the courtesy of a response. We definitely wouldn't stay here again and the overall impression was 3 star at very best. I'd say you could get much more for your money elsewhere.

"Excellent location with friendly and helpful staff"

User 09/01/2020

Had a lovely couple of nights relaxing here. Room's very clean and comfortable. The Spar was a welcome bonus after a marathon walk. The only slight disappointment was the limited menu. However, plenty of local restaurants to choose from if you don't like the choice. Overall a great stay and would definitely go back.

Booked the winter deal package. Bed breakfast and 3 course meal with spa access included. The whole experience was fantastic. Food and service was brilliant, staff couldn't do enough to help. Room was nice. Only issues was the hot water for the shower not being roasting hot in the morning but it was still lukewarm. The spa was amazing, pool was small but real warm. The spa treatments are worth paying for. Will 100% be booking again.

"Very friendly staff"

H1531OIjohnt, Criccieth, United Kingdom 02/01/2020

Rocked up here as a couple to meet our friends and celebrate New Year in the on site function room. Our room was on the ground floor clean and well appointed. There was no fridge or safe but hey. Also the shower was over the bath and had a swing glass door making access narrow for some. The New Year bash was good with nice food (my beef was a bit tough) and very friendly and helpful staff who were very willing to make our stay as enjoyable as possible so full marks there! Breakfast was a buffet and was ok - could have done with some stronger coffee given it was a celebration! All in all would recommend this hotel.

Very efficient and pleasant staff. Spacious room with comfy bed, the Spa facilities appear very new and were excellent. Large free car park and short 10 min walk into town. Bar area nicely decorated although on the small side when guests started to arrive for their 3 day Christmas break. Over all very nice stay only slight complaint no bedside sockets to charge phones and use as an alarm. Only other disappointment was we had to leave, as we had been unable to book for the 3 day Christmas break, as it was fully booked. Would definitely look earlier at the Christmas break next year and would certainly have no hesitation in returning or recommending this lovely hotel.

"Christmas away from home"

tezmusic, Lichfield Staffordshire 28/12/2019

The room we stayed in was excellent with a balcony overlooking Dinas Bryn. The suite is huge and very comfortable with a massive bathroom. The spa pool and steam rooms are free to guests in a relaxing atmosphere. The walk into Llangollen from the hotel is beautiful as you walk alongside the river . Only downside to the hotel is the food is not brilliant and the twice we have been there has been a coach party which they seem to struggle with to the detriment of other guests.

"Just your normal average hotel"

User 15/12/2019

Stayed here with my partner, the spa was great and the room looked good and the shower looked amazing. When I went to use the shower it was poor, the water pressure was poor and took ages to get warm water. I slept well until there was a dog barking at 2am and then again at 8am. Didn't eat here but had a drink at the bar, had to wait for someone to come to the bar as we drank our drinks could see other guest waiting like me did. I would stay here again but I wouldn't rave about this place.

"Nice hotel with water heating problems"

peteroaktree, Aberdare, United Kingdom 11/12/2019

Stayed for two nights as a pre-Christmas break, with shopping in Chester as part of the itinary. Stayed in a standard room with all you could want. we stayed in room 223. The central heating was only luke warm but luckily there was an electric heater which we used to keep the room at a reasonable temperature. Also the hot water was suspect. First night the water had to be run for 5 minutes before water was hot enough to shower. On second night all was ok but then suddenly went cold. But then warmed up again. The room is at the end of the corridor, which might explain, however modern hot water systems usually overcome this problem. We ate in on both nights and the food was good and the breakfast was varied. Thanks must go to the gentleman from Spain for going to the cellar to obtain two bottles of beer that were not so cold as those in the fridge.

Cara R, General Manager at Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa, responded to this review

Stayed here last month in an executive king room - lovely stay! Really helpful staff and the hotel has certainly improved since being taken over by Best Western. The spa was very relaxing, although be careful in the super hot steam room! Overall, a really relaxing stay and looking forward to arranging our next one!

We called in for coffee on our way back from North Wales as the building looks lovely from the outside. However the interior public rooms are a little drab by comparison with its lovely setting. Coffees were fine but we decided to have lunch elsewhere.

"Wild Pheasant Hotel and Spa"

standfast2015, Kuah, Malaysia 26/11/2019

This was our second visit to the hotel. We stayed previously in July and posted a review on TA concerning the shower. The staff are friendly and cooperative. Our 4 day trip this month was marred by low temperature water in the shower. The Maintenance Engineer checked it out but there was no improvement - having a thermostatic control valve is important as long as the shower delivery temperature is adequate! Room 216 is next to the main corridor fire door. Almost every time this door is opened it makes a very loud crack - sufficient to wake you up! The window in Room 216 is dirty. There is a spiders nest in one corner of the window pane and there's evidence of a spider malt. It remained there for the whole of our visit! Breakfast started off well and the food was OK. But over the next few days the quality and availability of food became poor, this was especially true if you arrived in the restaurant around 09:30hrs. On our last night here we were advised that the hotel had tried to contact us to advise a room change. We were however not contactable due to poor comms signal. For our booking we had contacted the hotel directly and we were charged £100 per night B&B - it was disappointing to see cheaper offers via TA, although it wasn't clear if this price included breakfast? The hotel has great potential but right now it is, in our opinion, very poor value for money.

"dangerous bathroom"

Chrissie A, Stockport, United Kingdom 24/11/2019

There is no shower screen, so the water goes all over the floor, you do get a shower mat, but that is not enough to stop the water from splashing on the tiles floor, thus making the floor very slippy when you step off the shower mat. The stool in front of the mirror at the dressing table, is too low, you have to put a pillow on the stool so you can use the mirror properly.

"Lovely hotel"

kathrynb531, Wrexham, United Kingdom 24/11/2019

We stayed here last night as we were attending a wedding. We were allowed to check in a bit earlier at a rate of £10 per hour which is reasonable in line with other hotels. Our room was great. Twin room. Good size, very modern with excellent facilities. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. We had a lovely view through our window of a garden area with a water fountain. Staff were friendly and professional. The food served at the wedding was really nice throughout and the bar service was excellent. We had a great stay here.

"Four nights pleasant stay with great food."

Olga P, Belfast, United Kingdom 23/11/2019

Three of us opted for a four night stay in the Wild pheasant Hotel. We booked a family room which was spacious clean and warm. The bedding and towels where changed daily and the room maintained by pleasant staff who were very good to my special needs son. We used the spa, steam room, sauna and hydro pool every day of our visit. This facility was spotlessly clean and very relaxing. Kerry was a great host and engaged us in friendly conversation. The breakfast was well presented and the cooked selection well cooked and piping hot. Beef sausages instead of pork! the tea and coffee certainly were brewed fresh and complimented the breakfast. We ate in the main restaurant one evening and ate in the Glasshouse on the other occasion that we ate there. The food was of exceptional quality and well presented by Dominic the chef and his assistant. The breakfast chef certainly sets up a good breakfast also. We really enjoyed the experience and will be back again. I would recommend this facility for anyone who requires a relaxing break with good food and attentive staff to look after you.

"The good outweighed the bad...just!"

User 17/11/2019

The hotel is in a good location, easy walking distance into Llangollen, with plenty of parking. Staff were friendly, helpful and clearly hard working. Our rooms on the ground floor were fine, clean, with all usual facilities you need such as hair drier, tea and coffee and bottled water. We found the dinner to be disappointing, with bland, over cooked food that was quite expensive. Cooked breakfast was good, but very limited choice of fruit. There is a distinctive musty smell in the lounge, and it took a long while to be served as the one person on duty was doing her best to wait on tables as well as serve behind the bar. The spa is very small, but has a good variety of water jets, and a good sauna. It was fine with 6 people but feels very crowded if there are more than 6. We couldn't get treatments as they were booked up. The biggest problem though was a wedding party using the hotel - lots of very bad language, smoking , and even loud arguments and fighting. Many of them frequently walked through the restaurant as we had dinner, and were clearly getting drunker and drunker, and louder and louder. Realise that the hotel cannot be responsible for the poor behaviour of its guests, but they do need to be careful of their damaged reputation, as we understand this was not the only incident of fighting and bad behaviour of wedding parties at the hotel. Overall we felt it was an ok hotel, but are not keen to return as we felt it wasn't value for money.

"Average & expensive for what it is"

User 15/11/2019

We had a lunchtime meal and a drink .. my husband thought the selection of draft beers very poor (think there were only 2?) whilst I thought the food was expensive for what it was. Location is fantastic just a shame that this isn't the 5 star place we thought it would be. Won't go again as for the price we are used to a lot better.

"Evening meal. "

We've just enjoyed a lovely meal at the Wild Pheasant Hotel in Llangollen. Home cooked fish, chips and peas. Service was excellent and very efficient, a very special thanks to Sian, our waitress was simply fantastic. Thank you so much, we will look forward to calling again.

"A good 2 night trip"

DaddySnow, Ludlow, United Kingdom 12/11/2019

Visited Llangollen for a 2 night trip. The hotel is located in the edge of town and can be walked in 10-15 minutes either via the main road or river. Both are well marked, good surface but the road is better lit at night. Our room was large, bed comfortable, facilities good. Easy booking in/out. Breakfast ( buffet) very good, all staff friendly and welcoming. Tried the bar which had usual mainstream wines/beers/spirits and was ok. Didn't try the small spa. Parking very good on premises. Llangollen has much to see/offer in the area and some really good pubs and restaurants to explore.

"Friendly Hotel close to the town centre"

graham e, Birkenhead, United Kingdom 10/11/2019

Very friendly hotel, about a quarter of a mile from the town centre. Warm rooms with comfortable beds. Large dinning area and separate bar. Additional spa area with hydro pool and Saunas. Spa treatments available at extra costs. Nice wooded gardens with views of the Mountains

Daisy P, Wrexham 08/11/2019

Our spa offers a warm hydrotherapy pool with thermal effects and powerful jets that will help ease away life's stresses and muscular tension. Leaving you feeling relaxed, refreshed and revitalised. This is from your very own website. It's not true, far from it. Today I arrived for a full day of Spa use, lunch and treatments as a gift from my daughters, who accompanied me. I was willing to let the fact we were not given any slippers, the fact we had to walk bare foot across to the Glass House and the fact that there were no staff present to serve us drinks or lunch for 40 minutes after our allocated lunch time slot, however being sat in the spa while they throw a MOP BUCKET of chemicals into the water and then start scrubbing the spa shower whilst I watch large pieces of shower scum float into the spa, that I won't let go. What on earth possessed an apparently Senior member of staff to insist the staff running the spa do that???!!! No checking the chemical levels and allowing customers to enter the pool immediately afterwards and watching the same mop bucket being lowered into the spa pool to fill with water to wash/scrub the shower floor. How is that acceptable?!! There is no reasoning why that needed to be done while there were customers using the facilities. £250, disgraceful. I had enjoyed my treatments and spending time with daughters relaxing but you are really letting paying customers down. Dreadful. I felt sick knowing I had been sat in that water. A MOP BUCKET!!! The filth that came from that shower cubicle floor was not for customers viewing I can assure you, filthy. And your ‘ Manager' is not trained to a standard you would expect. We were planning on further visits, that's not longer happening.

"comfortable overnight stay"

worldofourown, Beccles 06/11/2019

Stayed here overnight before visiting friends. First impressons were good. Well kept gardens and a nice big bright reception desk. Bar areas also looked comfy and welcoming. We had our dog with us so we were allocated a ground floor room with a door onto the gardens also, so it was nice and easy to take the dog out. Rooms were of a good size but found there was not enough plug space. We had 2 phones and a small cool box which we wanted to keep on and found only 1 free plug. It was a cool time of year so we also had to plug the radiator in from a plug outside the room. Beds were comfortable and freeview on the TV. The spa was free for guests to use and we made use of this. There was only 2/3 locker keys left when we went into the changing room so I assumed it was a busy day. It wasn't. There was 2 other couples using the spa so guessing locker keys were either broke or missing?? Spa was very good and is an asset to the hotel with sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy pool. We spent an hour in here before heading back to our room. We didnt try the restaurant so could not comment on that. Reception were friendly as were the spa receptionists. It would certainly be a place I would return to in the future. It has its ups and downs but it was a good price

"Pleasant but expected more for the price"

User 04/11/2019

I have no complaints about this hotel. It's a pleasant enough hotel with an unusual but effective glass vestibule and it's in a stunning location. Very easy to find with plenty of parking. The rooms were adequate and comfortable, although nothing to write home about and slightly faded and musty smelling. The sound proofing wasn't great and I had to listen to the couple next door chatting well past midnight. I would have given it a much higher rating and probably stayed again in the future if it hadn't been quite so expensive. Given that it isn't high season and it's not in a city, I thought it was expensive. And for the price I would have expected breakfast to be included.

"here for a wedding"

savytraveller1975, Oswestry, United Kingdom 03/11/2019

Went here for a wedding, 3 course meal the vegtables were extremely undercooked and i mean completely rock hard, everyone on the table said exactly the same and looking at the other tables everyone seemed to be the same judging by all the veg left on the plates when going back, the hotel itself was really nice but very expensive £9 for a glass of wine was a little over the top, i think the Stella was £4.20 a pint

Traveling with three elderly people with mobility problems. Staff were very quick to bring in extra chairs and towels, turned up the radiator and generally made us feel valued guests. Staff put their heart into making this place pleasant.

"Excellent but be quick."

User 27/10/2019

We've been here twice now and we absolutely love this hotel. The only advice I'd give is book your treatments as soon as you check in. We were late checking in and by the time we tried to book some treatments they were all fully booked that day and the day after. However we have had them before and they were fantastic. The staff are on hand all the time and can't do enough for us. We will be returning. Such a shame The Christmas 2 night offer is booked up.

"Nice stay"

dal3w, United Kingdom 26/10/2019

Stayed the night here as part of a larger group. Very pleasant staff and spotless room. Spa was very nice, not particularly busy and very clean. Food was tasty with a large varied menu. The only negative is that my room was above the restaurant area... the restaurant background music was playing well after closing and after a few repeats of “mysterious girl” and “the one that I want” coming from the floorboards it starts to grate on you. It wasn't particularly “loud” but definitely noticeable and easy enough to make out each song/lyric and enough to annoy you getting to sleep. At 0045 I went down to ask if it could be switched off. No one was at reception but I found a staff member eventually who switched it off straight away without question and was very helpful. This definitely didn't detract from the overall stay which was very pleasant and would highly recommend, I would just ask for a different room.

"Good for a weekend tour with classic cars"

Nigel C, Thame, United Kingdom 25/10/2019

Our room was fantastic, one of the suites. Staff were very attentive. Food choice was a little uninspiring but was very good when it arrived I guess that's what you get when you are a group of 29 people! Only thing we didn't like was that the main bar was not open so we had to traipse through the hotel to find an area big enough for us to sit around and chat. Fantastic area to visit with plenty to see and d, My problem now is where do we go next year!

"Mixed feelings"

Lee H, Liverpool, United Kingdom 20/10/2019

Lovely reception area and staff behind desk were very friendly, went to our room which smelt musty and had no towels which were delivered prompt once asked for, next morning breakfast was in a nice clean space with lots of choice but the hot food was luke warm at best which was a shame because lots of selection and still tasted nice

"First Class in all respects"

amq, Leeds, England 19/10/2019

This was a three-night stay - a get-away escape for myself and my wife - we chose Llangollen for a not too difficult drive from West Yorkshire, and the Wild Pheasant because it looked good on the site and had a great room with a walk-in-shower. Luck of the draw and we hit the jackpot. It's a lovely hotel. Modern design, spacious, spotlessly clean. Every member of staff, young or old, was superb. Friendly, efficient, helpful. Any problem sorted instantaneously. Quiet, but to be expected in October. Breakfast buffet first class (but try not to get there late). I read a few negative reviews below. Honestly, some people are really hard to please.I don't understand them. The bedroom/en-suite was really large; a bit like the ones you see in films that only rich people have. Two satisfied customers here.

"First night away from baby. Treat"

User 17/10/2019

We Wasn't made aware of extra prices for the spa use... it was not an issue, I would just like to have been made aware by either hotel reception upon arrival, or the spa receptionist!... Steam room was off and had a strong urine smell when opening the door. So not only a had we paid to use the facilities. But we wasn't informed that some of the facilities were out of use. In the hotel room Toilet was broken upon arrival, causing us to be waiting around to get ready, resulting in turning up late to a restaurant reservation... It was fixed no problem, but the repairs man made it clear that it was a reoccurring issue. In the morning. We opted for no breakfast, to have a lie in... First time away from our 3 month old son... The room we were in was first in the corridor. Non/stop banging and slamming of doors from 6:45 onwards. People talking in corridors all morning too. I recommend this hotel highly. But I strongly recommend for anyone not to stay in the room next to the restaurant! It feels like someone is in the room with you it gets that loud at times. The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are breathtaking. I would return, I was just disappointed in the last visit

"Excellent "

V5568SJjustinm, Edinburgh, United Kingdom 16/10/2019

Excellent from arrival to departure and a 1 night stay to remember. We had lunch in the bar on arrival, dinner in the restaurant that evening, breakfast which was included in the room rate and a late lunch in the spa before we left. Each and every mouthful was excellent, made with local products and perfectly cooked. Although I had booked a suite I was definitely wasn't expecting the room that awaited, bigger than the average house and with everything you could ever need for a relaxing stay. The perfect retreat for some wonderful food and a super relaxing spa finished off with fabulous staff in all areas

"Disappointing visit after all. "

StephD502, Liverpool, United Kingdom 08/10/2019

Walked to the Wild Pheasant on a off chance the Spa could fit me in for a massage, I was only in the area for a couple of hours. I was greeted by a lovely, young lady on reception, she was most helpful and polite. She took me down to the spa and actually managed to get me in for a massage. I was pleasantly surprised. I specifically chosen a aromatherapy massage, I knew I needed specific oils to target specific problems and asked if the pressure can be tough even with aromatherapy, (aromatherapy massages are usually softer touch but tailored to each client), she confirmed and booked me in. She shown me into the waiting room and I was offered tea, coffee and cold refreshments. The therapists shortly arrived and prompted me to complete the record form. They were polite but you got the impression they were busy and you were just another person on their list. It wasn't the warmest welcome, one you'd expect in such a environment. I was taken to the treatment room, very briefly discussed the pressure of the massage and then told to get ready. To begin the room had air con on and it was cold, when Gemma began massaging she too had cold hands and the oil was not very warm. It wasn't a comfortable start. The air con remained on throughout. I did ask Gemma to apply more pressure and what was applied extra wasn't much different. This was on my lower back area, a area I asked her to concentrate on. I just thought I'd go with it as she might not be able to apply the pressure I wanted and I'd just have a pamper instead. However the message got a lot better at the shoulders and she really worked them, applying perfect pressure and worked on my terrible knots. It was perfect at that point. The neck area was too just touched upon briefly, a place where stress can usually be found. I was offered water at the end and encouraged not to rush. When paying I explained it wasn't a aromatherapy massage, basic oils were used, no armoa whatsoever which was what I was booked in for and now being charged for. Gemma explained they're all pre mixed oils. I am a therapist and I use oils on a daily basis. I was extremely disappointed to have been lied to in that way. I even saw the bottle in the room. It isn't even so much the £2 difference, it's the fact I requested aromatherapy and then lied to about it. The Spa seemed clean and fresh and I throughly liked the space of relaxation rooms, treatment areas and the choice of refreshments. It's a shame as I thought I was onto a winner to begin with but it has left a sour taste in my mouth to be lied to. I definitely felt like I was more inconvenient than convenient to their business. Shame.

had one night at this hotel. the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and reasonably priced. Enjoyed the use of the complimentary spa facilities.would highly recommend. The room we had was light and airy.

"Wonderful and relaxing stay"

William L, Edinburgh, United Kingdom 05/10/2019

We planned this trip as a getaway and was ideal for us to visit Chester Zoo as well (which we did, and that was also really good). The hotel was beautiful and staff were friendly. The room was clean and comfortable; the food was ok... the spa though, that was excellent. Thank you to everyone for making our trip so lovely. Definitely look to return in the future!

"Snowden Walk"

User 30/09/2019

What a fabulous Hotel, the staff went out of their way to help and nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely and a reasonable price. The spa was great. My Friend and I went to walk the mountain and then to chill and what a fabulous weekend we had in the Wild Pheasant we will be going back.

"Our first night away without the kids"

Treeratmatt, Stansted Mountfitchet, United Kingdom 30/09/2019

This place was fantastic for us. We were invited to a wedding just up the road from here. The location is brilliant and the scenery around this hotel is beautiful. The hotel was clean and the room was perfect. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We hadn't realised that we got breakfast as part of the booking and so it was lovely to be able to spend the following morning taking our time over breakfast before going for a walk along the river. Thank you Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa for a wonderful stay.

CUMBRIAVIEW, Conwy, United Kingdom 30/09/2019

After reading a few negative comments we went to he Hotel with slight apprehension. We pulled into the large car park and the Hotel grounds looked spot on. On entering the building towards Reception noted that it all looked smart clean and inviting which was good Reception was excellent and all facilities available like the Spa were explained in a clear and friendly manner. We were early but no worries ,went out into the Garden and watched the Dragonflies skimming over the small bridge and the water. Then we were taken to our room which overlooked the garden. It was large Clean and looked very comfortable. Evening meal was Very nice Served quickly and tasted delicious. A good nights sleep was had and an excellent breakfast in the morning. would we come back again? Definitely

"Super hotel, fantastic stay, highly recommend."

Lottymat, Hereford, United Kingdom 29/09/2019

We were given a night away at this hotel as a surprise anniversary present. The hotel has recently had a makeover and looked very fresh and clean with reception staff very helpful. Parking is free and you can use the spa facilities before you check in if you wish. The spa is quite small but has a lovely hydrotherapy pool with different types of water jets along with comfortable sun loungers to relax on. There is also a steam room & sauna. We stopped in an executive room, which was quite big and very clean, again a newly fitted bathroom by the look of it. Good blackout blinds and a large comfy bed, although the fire alarm did go off at 1.30 am, luckily false alarm. Our break included a three course meal, which was lovely, the staff were very attentive, despite dealing with a coach of tourists at the same time. Our waitresses Charlotte & Ellie deserve a mention as they checked on us as much as the big party and were very friendly. Check out was from 12 pm so we were able to use the spa before we left. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

"our surprise stay in LLangollen"

User 23/09/2019

Myself and I were invited to attend our friends birthday at last minute. We had stayed in LLangollen many times before. We did not know about the Pheasant. We usually stay in the town centre. However, all the usual accommodation was full. I tried the Pheasant as a last resort. There was only one room left which was a twin room. I was dubious but booked it anyway. We were very pleasantly surprised. All the staff were very helpful and attentive. there is a small spa available but don't take your kids expecting to use the indoor pool as they are not allowed in the Spa (the only downside). However, good hotel, good food, breakfast is all you need.

"5 star service, very pleasant staff"

User 22/09/2019

Grat place, walking distance into llangollen, nice spa, lovely grounds, dog friendly. Helpfull and friendly staff. Bar is excessively over priced so would not use again unless priced more competitivel.

"Two night break"

Arth007, Greasby, United Kingdom 21/09/2019

We were lucky to have three fantastic sunny days in mid September so we really enjoyed Llangollen at it's best. We have been to this hotel twice before so know it well. The location is great with a lovely riverside walk of about 10 mins to the town. We used the spa which is very pleasant to spend an hour in. Dinner was excellent, food quality was really good and staff friendly. Breakfast was quite nice, a standard buffet, but more or less everything i would want although no freshly cooked fried eggs (only scrambled). A review below mentions a noise problem in a room. By the description i think we had the same room with the same annoying knocking problem. Next morning i mentioned this to reception as we went out for the day. When we arrived back in the afternoon two men were working away with the shower and wardrobe panels removed and a complete new shower being fitted. Apparently there was a problem with a valve requiring complete replacement. They were extremely polite and apologetic, and we left them to finish the job and returned later. We had no further problem, so although i was initially irritated by the noise i have to give full credit to the staff for fixing a fairly major problem so quickly. Overall, a most enjoyable stay. We love staying at this hotel and will definitely return.

"No sleep for two nights"

Gwyn W, Conwy County, United Kingdom 09/09/2019

To begin with, the room, hotel and amenities were very good, but that's where the good review ends.... Was looking forward to a nice and relaxing two nights away for my Girlfriend's birthday. The room was lovely, big and things looked really good [until the evening]. As we settled down the first night to sleep a banging and hissing noise started coming from what I believed was somewhere between the wardrobe [fitted to a wall] and the shower in the bathroom. This noise got progressively louder and more frequent as the night wore on, which resulted in virtually zero sleep for us that night.... In the morning I complained to the front desk Lady who was very nice and promised to get the maintenance guys to come and look at it some time during the day. They did come and they did their best but couldn't fix the issue. The second night the noise was still present, although they had managed to make it quieter and less frequent, but it was still too noisy to get much sleep.....The result was two very tired people at the end of the short two night stay. What annoyed me more was when I found out from a member of staff that this had been a problem for other guests weeks before our stay, so WHY wasn't it fixed...????? I was offerred a complimentary one night stay some other time, but really, I had done everything I wanted to in and around Llangollen and I really couldn't trust that there wouldn't be a similar issue seeing as this one hadn't been dealt with in a timely manner....It's a shame I've had to write this review because it would have been a good one if this hadn't happened.....

"OK and well located, nothing more"

Wapping1, Greater London, United Kingdom 09/09/2019

Nice enough un-remarkable hotel, stayed for one night in early September and paid £140 for a standard room with breakfast, which if they can polish off some of the rough edges could probably be justified. Plenty of parking, lovely grounds and the location is good for Llangollen. Staff were nice enough, there were a lot of of them being very busy doing stuff other than looking after customers waiting to spend money at the bar, at times we were actually an inconvenience to them!! There is nothing worse than when you are standing, waiting to give them money and they have something more important to do!!! Reception was efficient and friendly at check in and check-out. Don't bother phoning as you just get forwarded to a mail box which is always full so you can't even leave a message. How much trade are they loosing!! The rooms were spacious and reasonably appointed, however, attention to detail in cleaning is needed. The room was clean but when we put cases on top of the wardrobe lots (and I mean lots) of dust fell down. I had an evening meal there and the food was good. Breakfast was no more than OK. I didn't use the Spa, but it looked attractive and pleasant.

"Fawlty Towers!!"

Idleways, Bradford, United Kingdom 05/09/2019

Positives - the room was OK. The hotel looked quite nice. The spa also looked quite nice but we didn't go in. Negatives - it was like staying in Fawlty Towers. We had dinner in the restaurant - food was really quite terrible. Waitress couldn't tell us which was the beef burger and which was the lamb burger that she brought out at the same time. Asked for a hit chocolate at breakfast (as I don't drink tea or coffee) to be told that they could probably make me one out of a vending machine but I would have to pay extra. Breakfast food - adequate. Rooms very basic. No heating in the room so a crappy old electric heater was waiting for us in the room. Room was cold - in August. When we originally tried to book we phoned time and time again and no answer. Ended up booking on or something similar. Save your money - stay elsewhere.

"Really lovely Spa break."

casspin6519, Burnley, United Kingdom 04/09/2019

Had a super short break and enjoyed the unusual Spa water treatments. Good food and as I had had a trip and fall on an uneven floor was waited on for breakfast etc so I think I had a better experience than buffet breakfast guests.

We stayed here for one night on a special deal and it was an outstanding experience which I cannot recommend highly enough. All of the staff were excellent and so helpful. The spa is a real treat and immaculately kept, if I lived locally I would join the health club without a doubt. Food in the restaurant was memorable, and I shall be using a couple of their recipes. The room was very clean and tidy, and whilst not the greatest of views, fitted us perfectly. I cannot think of a bad thing to say about the hotel. I am a bit of a gardener and really appreciated the work that had gone into the grounds, especially the lawns which were beautiful (great stripes) a great deal of work clearly goes into the gardens and I for one appreciated this hard work. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back.

"One night stay at the wild pheasant"

Jane S, Worcestershire, United Kingdom 31/08/2019

Very nice hotel .Very clean comfortable room with very comfy bed. Staff excellent and very pleasant. Spa available to use if you wanted to. We were touring on a motorbike and they enabled us to leave our bike in a safe place which was very good. This is our second visit and we will definitely visit again. If you are on foot only a short walk to the town by the river.

"A One Night Stop On The Way Into Wales"

wegetaround02, Wakefield, United Kingdom 30/08/2019

We were travelling to Zip World at Bethesda and took the opportunity to stay overnight en route having visited the aqueduct at Pontcysyllte. The hotel is well sited alongside the A5 just outside the pretty town of Llangollen. From reception in to reception out we were well looked after. The hotel is well appointed, our bedroom on the first floor was spacious and very clean. We had a pleasant evening meal in the comfortable restaurant and the next morning a very satisfactory buffet breakfast. If in the area again we would certainly stay here.

"excellent experience"

User 29/08/2019

Stayed at the Wild Pheasant for 2 nights on a travelzoo deal. Welcoming appearance from the minute you park your car. Reception staff very effcient and quickly booked in. The room was well decorated and modern, It was a little dark but the window faced trees outside so little natural light. The bathroom is slightly cramped and the toilet roll was on the opposite wall to the toilet, if you haven't got extra long arms you have to remember to move it first! We had breakfast each morning and two evening meals the food is freshly prepared, varied, hot and reasonably priced. The staff are exceptionally friendly. Excellent location about 10 minute (or less if you are a fast walker) to the town. This is also a dog friendly hotel and the four legged guests also seemed well catered for,

"One night stay after wedding "

User 28/08/2019

Stayed here for one night after our wedding. The place was great. The suite we had was massive and comfy and got free access to the spa and a nice walk into Llangollen, about 15 mins. Brekky was really good too.

"Dog friendly"

joan_bannister, Tywyn, United Kingdom 27/08/2019

We were stuck in yet another traffic jam travelling home to mid Wales on a hot bank holiday with small dog. We came upon the Wild Pheasant and went in to ask if we were allowed to sit outside. Not only did we find that the whole hotel is dog friendly the lovely lady bought out a bowl of cold water for our dog without even being asked. The food was fabulous well worth a visit.

"Great hotel-would I return YES"

BMW1200GSA, Woodford Halse, United Kingdom 26/08/2019

One night stay with my wife at this great hotel. This hotel is local to the town of Llangollen walking distance just keep the river on your left. To start with we were made very welcome by the staff, we were shown to our room (302) that was on the ground floor and spacious and clean and quiet. A great start as we were in the motorbike and needed a nice secure place to stay...and it was...lovely big bathroom with great white bath towels. In the morning we had the best breakfast for such a long time, my advice is get in early 8:00 to 8:30 as it got very busy later in the morning. Thanks to all the staff and management. We will return.

"Wonderful Stay"

NorfolkRichard, Norfolk 18/08/2019

Went to This hotel for a wedding and we stayed here for a week. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The only criticism is the poor choice at breakfast. We did speak to the Head Chef who was very interested in our criticism We reported that there was wasps coming from the eves above the window in our room and was told by the reception that they would have it looked at. But no they went one further step and upgraded us to a penthouse suite. Well done all the staff. Will most certainly stay here again

"Average "

RockyWrexham, Gwersyllt, United Kingdom 18/08/2019

Stayed here aug for one night as were going to a wedding . Arrived early sat morn . Staff were very friendly and helpful & took our bags to keep as obvs we were too early for the room to be ready . We Ordered coffee before we left for the wedding which was average , it just tasted like a frothy milky drink , were was the coffee ? Our room was massive , too big really and very business like , nothing warm and welcoming about it , just basic & adequate , also it was a room adapted for the disabled . Nothing against that except the bathroom felt like a hospital bathroom not a bathroom to have a nice relaxing bath in . Not sure why we were put in this room . Plenty of tea and coffee in the room & breakfast was good . Not sure why some hotels have hairdryers in a drawer that only stay on when u have your finger on the button and you can't stretch the lead enough to dry your hair . My pet hate .

"My wedding day "

Liveinnorwich, Tulum, Mexico 17/08/2019

We had our wedding here in the 10th August and the hotel could not have been more helpful. The main attraction for us was being allowed to have our furbaby with us for the whole day and he was!!! It's was a dream come true and the hotel helped us achieve this. If you are looking for an amazing place to have a wedding I would highly recommend here!!!

"Popped in for lunch"

User 12/08/2019

We visited the hotel as a last minute thing for lunch as the town centre was extremely busy we found the drinks very expensive with poor quality wine! Staff were friendly and seemed fairly accomplished sandwich was ok visited the ladies before leaving very disapointing all three toilets were dirty, toilet seat hanging off door catches needed replacing not a very pleasant experience and very disapointing in comparison to the grounds and entrance to the hotel we will not be returning looked all style no substance!

User 08/08/2019

Menu is small and we waited over an hour for food, there was no more than 4 tables being used so it wasn't busy. Only ordered 2 sandwiches and kids meals and still took that long. Food was tasteless and expensive for what it was. I will not be returning.

We stayed one night this hotel was selected because it was a Best Western and walking distance to the town we have used Best Western before. The hotel itself is very nice the staff helpful ,room which was a basic double was clean had a nice bathroom good shower and plenty of tea, coffe and towells, the let down was breakfast you fetch your own tea and coffe from flasks which were not very hot ,i prefer a tea pot ,the self serv breakfast was not very hot there were no eggs, when we asked they went and cooked 4 fried eggs but we had nearlry finished by then and the scrambled eggs were bought out after that. With the amount of staff standing around it would be nice to have tea etc served to the table.

Went to this hotel in august last year for our wedding anniversary and for my husband and friends to play 2 days of golf.Decided to return this year as we enjoyed it so much. We were not disappointed. It's such a great hotel. Our room (suite 310)was very clean with view of the front of the hotel.Reception staff very helpful . The buffet breakfast was very good, with lot's to choose from. While hubby's were golfing we enjoyed the spa area. Very relaxing.Ate in the hotel restaurant on our last night and would highly recommend the fish and chips.Lovely walks along the river into town where there are some great places to eat and have a drink. The Cornmill is a paticular favourite with us with decking outside where you can sit and watch the river and the canoeists. This is definitely one of our favourite hotels and will definitely be back next year.

"Short Break"

Mariaingem, Glasgow, United Kingdom 03/08/2019

Stayed recently for three days. Firstly, I cannot understand some of the recent comments on staff and general tidyness!! First impressions on arrival were of a pristine building in well tended grounds, all in a beautiful setting. On entering the bright airy reception the good vibes continued. A warm welcome from the reception team. We were delighted to find that one of our rooms had been upgraded to the Berwyn Suite. This turned out to be everything you would expect from such a room and more. The twin room was also quite spacious and beautifully appointed with an excellent en suite bathroom. The Restaurant and Glasshouse Bar were both very pleasant with attentive, and in the main very well trained staff. The food in the Restaurant was excellent on the one evening we ate there and the buffet breakfast was what you would expect. The spa was very bright and airy and like the rest of the hotel, spotlessly clean. Our teenage daughter had a very relaxing 'Swedish Massage' and loved the highly professional treatment offered. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting the beautiful town of Llangollen.

Food here is reasonable, Location is good and service efficient. I suspect the Chef is reliant on the microwave for his Sunday Roast leg of Lamb as slices appeared to have been precooked.Yorkshire Pudding was poor.

We visited for a light lunch only during the weekend and sat outside to enjoy the pleasant surroundings. We ordered a couple of sandwiches, one with regular bread the other with ciabatta. The service was really good, friendly, fast, competent and enjoyable but the experience was let down by the food itself. While the fillings (one prawn, one lamb) were excellent and the lamb cooked to delicious perfection, the bread was anything but fresh, it was dry, tasteless and falling apart. My guess is that defrosted bread was used. Since they can't get something as simple as the bread for sandwiches right unfortunately we will be very hesitant in eating there again.

"It's location was the only positive I could find on my visit"

User 22/07/2019

Only stopped here for a coffee en route to north Wales, even so it was a poor experience. We had to go and find someone to ask to serve us in the bar area despite the sound of voices coming from the room adjacent. The coffee was ok. Matt was pleasant enough. The toilets behind the bar were dirty and unkempt. There was dust and debris on the floor of one ladies cubicle. The facilites had not been recently cleaned and was in need of a deep and thorough clean. My husband reported a dirty toilet pan and lack of cleaning in the gents. A succession of staff and their friends came and went in the public bar area having loud conversations about their evenings out. Other customers had to wait before being served. We had to find someone to ask to pay. When we left, a member of staff from the bar left at the same time and pulled out in front of us from the staff parking area. It is rare that if I find services not up to standard for me to leave without passing on my concerns to the staff but the lack of engagement from anyone we encountered here did not give me any confidence about making any comments so we left. The facilites, rooms and reosrt look lovely, I do hope the attitude of the staff do not impact on the success of the hotel.

"Lovely hotel BUT"

User 19/07/2019

Last week we stayed at the Wild Pheasant Hotel for 2 nights. The first night dinner and both breakfasts were very good. The grounds are lovely. The spa is excellent. The only things stopping a 5* review: 1. the bathroom door mechanism was faulty, resulting in my wife cutting her finger deeply when trying to get out. Despite promises the lock was not repaired, necessitating the door be left open whilst using the bathroom for the rest of the stay; and 2. on the second day, we returned in the evening to find the room had not been made up. Maybe just avoid Room 222 and you will have a great time there!

"Lovely Hotel close to town centre"

sheila k, Leigh, United Kingdom 18/07/2019

Lovely hotel from the outside and didn't disappoint inside, modern room on first floor, lift available if needed. Welcoming staff and food was good. Walking distance to town centre through a lovely riverside park. If I had to be picky, the breakfast was not hot as it was a buffet style and plates were cold which cooled it even more, night lights beside the bed had black shades so too dull to read by but overall it was a nice hotel and we would return.

"Wild Pheasant, Llangollen"

standfast2015, Kuah, Malaysia 15/07/2019

The hotel is good and the food is fine. The shower in our room, and in several other rooms, is a safety hazard. The shower is raised off the floor and shower water does not drain properly - consequently the water runs out of the shower onto the bathroom floor creating a very treacherous situation (Flooding) We reported this to the hotel management team. The hotel cleaning team were very aware of the problem, but no action has been taken yet?

"Great place-will return :-)"

User 14/07/2019

Gorgeous hotel & spa within walking distance to Llangollen-a place we frequently visit which has lots to do. Spa facilities nice & relaxing. Hotel spotless, classy, homely feel with modern bits-gives a nice vibe. Bar areas nice.Comfortable bed, modern bathroom with powerful shower & nice toiletries. Friendly, helpful staff. Tasty breakfast with nice coffee. Will definitely return to this place.

"Enjoyable stay for Llangollen Eisteddfod"

Elizabeth C, Shrewsbury, United Kingdom 07/07/2019

We stayed here on the Friday night of the international Eisteddfod. We had a well equipped modern room on the ground floor, nicely furnished with a good tea tray, complementary biscuits and water, and bathroom with lovely underfloor heating. We found staff on reception very helpful and efficient. We enjoyed using the spa, with its hydrotherapy pools, sauna and steam room. We also enjoyed drinks in the Glass House, and were pleased to see how the hotel refurbishment has been completed since we last stayed in January 2017. The hotel has a large car park and free WiFi. We drove to the Eisteddfod pavillion, but could have walked there in around 20 minutes. Our only disappointment was our breakfast experience. The hotel was very busy with Eisteddfod guests and so breakfast was a little chaotic. We had to ask for tea cups, clean glasses and tea spoons, which should have been replenished by staff without having to ask. Also, the breakfast was buffet style, with no other eggs but scrambled available, when we had expected hot food served to us. I believe this can be attributed to the hotel being so busy. That said, we still very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

"Poor Service, Bathroom horrible, cooked breakfast worst I have had in a UK hotel"

grahamj140, Stirling, United Kingdom 07/07/2019

On arrival staff in rear office saw us arrive but made us wait 5-10 minutes before moving to check us in. Hotel looks very nice, our room looked clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom smelled of stagnant water/damp, thought is was just the stagnant water. discovered that the showr drain was part blocked and I nearly flooded the room as the water took ages to drain away. there was mold all around the bottom of the shower. The mirror light did not work either. Went to breakfast on the first morning told to sit anyware. Tea coffee was from flasks with push down buttons [OK for a meeting but not for possibly 50-80 people]. long queues for tea/coffee flask ran, out long wait to get refills! The cooked breakfast was horrible bacon covered with white grease, sausage looked raw, scabbled egg you could slice with black bits in it. Toast was OK! Person next to me ordered to fried eggs about 15 minutes later two poached eggs being taken around by waiter asking who ordered them! The next day breakfast did improve on service but not on the quality. Dinner the first night we booked for 6pm as having had a fairly long drive we were hungary. Entered restaurant at 6:05 pm waitress said I will have get a list and disappeared, no sign of oiginal waitress stood around for 5-10 minutes another waitress said take any table set for two. Another wait of ten minutes before given menu. Ordered some 10 minutes later, food uninspiring I certainly would not go there for a meal. Our dessert was mixed up so we got the wrong one! Next night was simular except very long wait from ordering to getting something to eat with very few people in the restauraunt 45-50 minutes. the desert was like concrete. The hotel looks good but service, maintenance of rooms and food quality are far below the standards I would expect from any hotel. Hotel as offered 50% of next stay!!

"Leisure stay"

Bonnie07, Brecon Beacons 04/07/2019

One night stay and given free upgrade to a well equipped, pleasant and spacious room with large, super king bed. Cleanliness was generally very good in important areas, such as bathroom and bedroom. Cleaning required around windows and on outside balcony. Disappointed that spa was closed for the day and would have been useful to have had advance email notification as we could have used the spa on the day of arrival, with prior warning. On checkout, staff said that a notification had probably been displayed at reception the day before, but we didn't see it and it hadn't been brought to our intention. We had made the booking specifically because of the spa facility and as we only were staying for the one night, this was disappointing. Otherwise, a nice, value for money stay in pleasant surroundings.

"Llangollen visit"

MoyPete, United Kingdom 03/07/2019

Rather a disappointing visit. While the staff were great - friendly and helpful, the room was distinctly average. Upon arrival, we had to ask for our bathroom to be re-cleaned. The room was not hoovered during our stay and the bathroom not cleaned. We had fresh towels because we made sure to put them in the bath every day. Toiletries and complimentary water was not replaced on the first day. (We complained and this was rectified on the second day). The breakfast on the first day was satisfactory, but on the second, they seemed very busy and various foods ran out and were not replaced very quickly. Parking on site was excellent. It was a 10 minute walk into town along a very pretty canal. Unsure whether or not we will return.

Kps1955, Sheffield, United Kingdom 29/06/2019

Hotel is ok, and in a nice location. However dinner was well below par and breakfast was warm but ok, however final breakfast on the 3rd morning not good. Went out to eat on two nights, and returned to a bottle of Chablis first night, served by a nice young chap in the bar. On the way out on the 3rd. Night stopped on the way out to ask young lady behind the bar to put a bottle somewhere cold. As I was driving to dine, it gave me something to look forward too on return. However upon return informed they had none - seems pretty poor stock control. I don't want to be overly negative as many of the staff were quite pleasant but it could be so much better.

"Lovely spa break"

Debbie G, Shrewsbury, England, United Kingdom 21/06/2019

We had a lovely 2 day break and took advantage of the spa facilities the staff in the spa and the hotel were just lovely couldn't do enough for us. It a great base for stroll along the river in to town

"Comfortable & Relaxing Hotel"

User 16/06/2019

We stayed 9th-11th June plenty of parking easy & friendly check in. On check in we had a plesant surprise as the hotel had upgraded us to room 314 which was massive with a Jacuzzi bath. This room has a balcony and looks out onto the rear garden. In the fridge there was a bottle of bud & bottle of prosecco. There were plenty of big fluffy towels & plenty of lovely toiletries. The bed was massive & comfortable had a good night's sleep until woken by a barking dog at 7.30am reported to reception soon afterwards the barking stopped. Atfer our 2nights stay we left feeling chilled

"Father's Day meal"

danicab858, Liverpool, United Kingdom 16/06/2019

Lovely location. Had three small plates (tapas) as starters, then our main meals and desserts. Everything tasted amazing, couldn't fault it. You could actually taste that it was local produce! The waiter/barman that served us, we didn't catch his name, but he was Spanish I think? He was lovely, really attentive, constant smile and very polite. Told us there wasn't an item on the food menu but turns out due to a mix up there actually was - because we had already had our food at this point he said he would give us a discount to make up for the confusion, which he really didn't have to, but he went above and beyond. My dad's wanted to come here for ages and it was amazing food and great views. Lived up to the expectation.

"Wedding stay"

natfereday92, Wrexham, United Kingdom 10/06/2019

I had an overnight stay as a braidsmaids for my best friends wedding. The room wasn't ready when I arrived at 2pm which is the check in time but wasn't a problem as other friends were staying at the hotel aswell. Check in/out was smooth and the staff were very helpful. The room was excellent and had everything I needed for my stay.

"Outstanding in every respect"

karenjG2649DT, Nelson, New Zealand 10/06/2019

From the moment we drove into the well kept grounds we knew we were on to a winner. A friendly welcome and a lovely hotel, perfectly located for a walk to town and the famous steam train. Fresh decor with light an airy rooms. Big comfy bed, immaculately clean and superb service. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast: all excellent, accommodating allergies with complete professionalism. The Chef is a hero!

"Beautiful and relaxing hotel"

Vicky W, Bodelwyddan, United Kingdom 31/05/2019

Lovely hotel; with amazing spa facilities, high quality rooms and delicious food in the restaurant. Always a great overall experience. We've stayed twice now and have high praise and delight for both our stays. We've eaten in both the bar and restaurant and the food has been fantastic. However we do not recomend breakfast, especially not for the price.

"One night spa stay"

jane c, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom 27/05/2019

We stayed one night, Saturday bank holiday and the hotel was very busy with a large party. Upon arrival we were very pleased with the hotel, the room was lovely, the spa facilities were very pleasant and the breakfast was good as were the staff. The thing that spoilt it for us was the saturday evening meal. We booked in the restaurant for 8pm, having been told about the large party and asked to avoid 6 until 8. When we arrived at the restaurant there was nobody else in there and only one other couple due in later. The restaurant was dark and we didn't fancy eating alone. We went to the Glasshouse instead where there was a note saying no food from 6 til 8 but as it was just coming up to 8 I asked if we could change the booking from the restaurant to the pub. After checking with the kitchen, we was told the chef had said “no” as he had 120 covers to serve. When I questioned the booking I had made in the restaurant we were told that we would be okay with that and we would be served. This seemed odd as there was only one chef and by this time we had been put off by his attitude so we walked in to Llangollen and had a lovely meal at the Three Eagles restaurant which we would highly recommend. Other than the meal experience, the Wild Pheasant is a good hotel for a short Spa break.

"Gorgeous Getaway"

Roving37021272756, Garstang, United Kingdom 21/05/2019

Plenty of parking. Helpful reception staff. Nice room. 8/10. Plenty of hot water. Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Very good dinner Helpful restaurant staff Relaxing leisure area, Spa, but no swimming pool.

"Super Hotel"

tah11743, Orpington, United Kingdom 17/05/2019

Lovely hotel, and the staff are by far the most polite and caring, nothing is to much trouble, if there is a problem the menu is small and does not change, A specials menu each night would have given a different choice,, and the buffet breakfast is no different to ALL the hotel buffet breakfasts I have had, everting cold, please cook to order I am sure the hotel would cook to order if asked, The rooms was superb, lovely bed, shower 1st Class, may be more draw space would help.

"Lovely stay"

sharonfitz2, Wigan, United Kingdom 16/05/2019

Absolutely lovely stay, beautiful setting, nice set out car park, lovely reception area, Room was spotless clean, everything possible that you need, hairdryer, plug in radiator if you feel cold, plug in fan if you feel hot, tea coffee facilities. Staff the most friendly and helpful staff, couldn't do enough for you, had a fabulous meal in the restaurant, best blade of beef I have ever had, compliments to the chef. Breakfast was just as delicious wide range of food, with options on eggs, fried scrambled or poached at your request, tea and coffee in abundance, for a three star hotel it was brilliant can't wait to stay again in the near future.

"Exepitional "

davidmowbray, UK 15/05/2019

Stayed here for two nights. Service is great. Its a Best Western hotel. Location perfect for me. Staff are attentive and care. Rooms are fresh and of high quality. Only fault I find is there is no where to place shampoo etc when in shower. I will be staying here again. Restaurant is modern and food is great standard. Breakfast is average and could be better.

"Nice stay"

conorw361, Manchester, United Kingdom 12/05/2019

Came away as a couple over Easter bank holiday for a relaxing night away and it was just that. Had free use of the spa facilities whilst we were there which were really nice. Hydro pool, steam and sauna and comfy beds to lie on although we didn't have any extra treatmeants. As it was Easter a free Easter egg was left in our room which was a nice touch. Room and bathroom was spacious with a double bed and 2 single beds in there. Had 3 tapas dishes in the hotel pub, although they were small they were delicious and beer garden area was nice. Breakfast the following day was lovely, plenty of choice (especially jams) and kept fresh. Would definitely come again.

"Lovely and dog friendly"

esylltl2016, Llanfrothen, United Kingdom 11/05/2019

Stayed one night our room was the ground so we could let the dog out for a wee whenever he wanted too. I also liked that it's just under 10 minutes to walk into the town its self by the Riverside. All staff were great, there was a problem with a payment and they didn't mention us until check out which I found very trusting and a lovely touch.

"Efficient staff - good food"

daf105b, Wrexham, United Kingdom 07/05/2019

Went for a wedding. Well-organised staff and good quality food. Pleasantly situated just off the A5 on the outskirts of Llangollen, an easy stroll into town along the riverside being one of the attractions of the location.

User 07/05/2019

Lovely room which had recently been refurbished, excellent food, great staff,it is about a 15 minutes walk into the town center, and you can walk by the canal, plenty of Cafe's on the main Street. For a bite to eat.

"Disappointing "

TandSReading, Reading 07/05/2019

Stayed on a Friday night in April to catch up with family. Rooms were on the ground floor and initial impressions were good, albeit chilly as there is apparently no heating in the hotel bedrooms. The climate controls fitted in the rooms didn't have any power going to them. There are working radiators in the corridors but none in the rooms. Strange. Anyway we had dinner in the restaurant, brilliant staff and the food was really good. It all went a bit wrong with waiting over an hour for desserts, but in fairness we weren't charged for them and were given free drinks. Then came breakfast on the Saturday morning, which was a disgrace, the worst food and service I have ever experienced in a hotel. They were short staffed and those that were working were either disinterested or incompetent. Apparently you can order eggs cooked to order, but nobody tells you that and there are no menus. The hot buffet food was awful, and it wasn't being replenished when it ran out so out of the 4 of us nobody managed a full breakfast. Some had no eggs, some no bacon. There was clearly a wedding later in the day and you got the distinct impression that all the good staff were being kept back for that. There was no management presence at all. Check out was chaotic as the one receptionist was trying to deal with lots of people checking out, as well as lot's of wedding guests arriving. I really don't like leaving reviews like this, but hope that the management take note as it could be a really great hotel.

"Lovely hotel"

User 06/05/2019

Fabulous hotel & spa. Looks lovely from the outside. lovely & clean on the inside. Great service all round Spa is lovely & relaxing. All staff were so helpful, nothing was any trouble. Rooms were very nice

"Brilliant stay"

Julie L, Burntwood, United Kingdom 02/05/2019

Every single member of staff we encountered was brilliant! They all made the stay memorable. Nothing was too much trouble - their attitude was that if we enjoyed our stay, then anything they could do for us a pleasure for them.

"Very enjoyable overnight stay during Easter"

Bpm1976, Peterborough (England) 30/04/2019

We stayed here on good Friday and we're really pleased with the choice we made, especially considering the price we bagged. The hotel appears to of been renovated fairly recently and to a very good standard, plenty of parking and also a 10 minute stroll into town which was ideal. The weather was great so we made the most of the beer garden and also enjoyed a really good meal onsite. Bedrooms and bathroom were also very nicely appointed and clean. The staff here were so friendly and helpful, the only reason I couldn't score it a 5 was that the spa was over 2 hours late in opening on our check out day which meant we couldn't use it. Not the end of the world, but we had been looking forward to it. Would certainly stay here again.

"A relaxing atmosphere"

Meander33234556155, Manchester, United Kingdom 30/04/2019

I had a lovely stay at this hotel. I was able to take my dog, we were given a room on the ground floor with a back door to make it easier to walk the dog in the lovely surroundings. The staff were very accomodating, The hotel is in the most peaceful place with the town a two minute walk away.

"Relaxing and Enjoyable Pre Wedding Stay"

User 29/04/2019

I stayed here the night before my wedding and I had an enjoyable and relaxing stay. I stayed in one of the suits and it's was beautiful. Large room with plenty of space...perfect for the bridal party getting ready in the morning. The bathroom was huge and well the bath was amazing. Every single member of staff we came into contact with was nothing but friendly, professional and helpful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't thank you enough for being so welcoming and accommodating.

"Easter Break"

David H, Newport, United Kingdom 22/04/2019

Booked The Wild Pheasant Hotel for a three night break for my wife and myself after looking it up on TripAdvisor. First impressions were very good and the staff very friendly.Unfortunately the room allocated wasn't the one we booked and we had to move rooms. The hotel itself is very nice and in a lovely location. There is ample parking and the Spa is very good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful but seemed to lack any leadership. The restaurant is pleasant and the food good. The Glasshouse is ideal to relax in the afternoon with a drink and has a small menu if you want to eat.We enjoyed our stay and would stay again in the future.A little more attention to detail by the management would go a long way to making this Hotel an excellent one.

"Wedding anniversary."

User 17/04/2019

Highly recommended. Modern but cosy decor. Delicious food. Friendly and helpful staff. Relaxing spa facilities. Stayed one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Would've loved to have stayed another night but couldn't due to work commitments.

"walk in showers that have a 6 inch step in and no rails or any means of not slipping also nowhere to put washing items"

joyceaclarke, York, United Kingdom 17/04/2019

The hotel is in a lovely location and the staff are helpful and friendly, dining is of a standard to be expected at a hotel such as this, the rooms are pleasant and clean. That however is where the plaudits end,,walk in showers that aren't,they are tiled cubicles with nothing in them, friends spent 3 nights having to do all over washes by hand for fear of stepping into the shower and falling.I'm not sure if Health and Safety would be eager to pass this hotel as fit for purpose, those shower cubicles were positively dangerous. Toilet rolls opposite the toilet---how long are are arms Wheelchair users would have difficulty accessing a lot of the bathrooms and only 1 accessability room available

"A bit disappointing"

MiriamR2526, London 15/04/2019

With just a little more attention to detail by the hotel's management, this could have been a great stay. Unfortunately, however, there were a number of minor issues which, when combined, paint a picture of a hotel which is run in a chaotic way. It was frustrating that these issues could have been so easily avoided, which would have resulted in a more enjoyable stay. To start with the positives: the staff were all absolutely lovely - friendly and keen to please. Our executive room was very spacious and comfortable enough, with a decent-sized bathroom. The main reason for booking this hotel was so that we could all use the spa - us and our children who are 12 and 14. On arrival, however, we were told that the spa is only for people aged 16 or over. This is not stated on the website; moreover, it actually states that 12-16 year olds *can* use the spa as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Unfortunately I only realised this once we were back home (I must have seen it when I booked ages ago and then forgotten it) so I did not have the chance to raise it with management. However I will raise it with them now and update this post later, depending on the response. Suffice to say that we were all very disappointed about this. On the first day I alerted reception to the fact that our toilet flusher wasn't working properly, as evidenced when I opened the lid of the toilet and discovered an unpleasant legacy of the previous occupant - totally unacceptable from a housekeeping perspective. This flusher was not fixed so we had to live with the temperamental flusher for the duration of our stay. Other really small details just took the shine off our stay.... from wonky/broken curtains to a missing TV remote control; from no hot water one morning to housekeeping staff calling loudly to each other in the corridor at 8am on a Sunday. The TV in our children's room was useless as the signal didn't work and you couldn't get a picture; when I asked if someone could fix this, I was told that the rooms at the back of the hotel didn't get a good signal so they couldn't promise anything. My response to that would be to get it sorted! Get cable or boosters - whatever is needed. Frankly, you shouldn't be selling TVs as a feature in your rooms if they don't work. The spa itself was fine although - with just a tiny bit of attention - broken locker doors could have been fixed and toiletries should be put in the showers. Breakfast was adequate although chaotic. It was strange that if you asked for extras (like poached eggs or porridge) they'd make them, but it was odd that there was no actual menu for this... almost as if they didn't want to invite requests. All in all a bit of a disappointing experience, I'm afraid. I couldn't recommend it and we would stay somewhere else next time.

"Trip to Llangollen"

Curious36974372470, Hastings, United Kingdom 14/04/2019

Great location although on the A5 road, it was quiet, except for local steam train. Plenty to do locally an d not far to snowdonia National Park. Spa facilities were great and free to use. Local town less than 20 minutes away on foot.

Lovely hotel easy walk into Llangollen. Nice menu food very good quality. My husband had Welsh Fillet Steak pictured and I had Lamb Rump a Cutlet and a mini Shepherds Pie delicious! I would have preferred a better selection of vegetables. Really attentive helpful staff. Would definitely revisit.

"Great value stay"

Lovely hotel in great location, five minute walk to Llangollen centre along the river. There was a slight problem at check in but it was resolved very quickly. Room was lovely with everything we needed, it was a dog friendly room with a door to outside. Grounds were lovely, so all in all a great hotel for a great price .

"Excellent. Can highly recommend this hotel."

Booked deal via Travelzoo for birthday break. Excellent room, food and overall experience. Beautiful surroundings and walks within a short drive. All in all a lovely break. High recommend this hotel. Hopefully we will return.

"Lovely break"

JLB1, Stone, United Kingdom 27/03/2019

We booked on a Travelzoo deal. The hotel is located in a lovely position with large free carpark. Five mins walk away is an Aldi and homebargain store where you can cut through to the Riverside walk to the centre of Llangollen about 15 mins walk. The hotel has clean spacious rooms with tea coffee facilities, hairdryer, iron. Our room had a large walk in shower. Restaurant The restaurant was very nice and relaxing, the food was superb both evening meal and a good buffet breakfast in the morning.

"A gem of a hotel!"

carolla54, Stockport, England 26/03/2019

Loved our stay so much we booked an extra night! Had a super up-graded room and our 3-course dinner was excellent. I can highly recommend the pheasant starter! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. All this coupled with the spa, we feel very pampered and relaxed. We visited Chirk Castle and Erddig whilst there, both well worth the visit. Would we stay again? Absolutely!

"Lovely relaxing pet friendly hotel"

dancedebbie, Staffordshire 23/03/2019

We took a short one night break in this hotel with our small Westie. Lovely setting within walking distance of Llangollen town centre and the river. All the staff were great with Bonnie, our dog, as shes very friendly and wanted fuss off all of them. The food was lovely esp the Welsh lamb not to mention the cheeseboard and trio of white choc and raspberry desserts. Only blip was we had to change rooms as the sink was blocked which should have been picked up by housekeeping before we arrived. This didn't spoil the stay though and we would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Really nice "

"Good Hotel, Friendly staff, Excellent restaurant"

The weather was terrible the day we visited, but there was a warm welcome. The room was OK and clean, but disappointed with the old convector heater. The dinner was excellent. Unfortunately the breakfast was spoilt by not being very hot.

Enjoyed a one night stay here over valentines weekend. The food was amazing, the steak in particular. The restaurant was lovely with attention to detail, staff were pleasant and friendly. The spa was a lovely size for a few couples but would struggle to get in if busy. The water had a few bits in but overall was very happy with the stay

"I like it"

We selected this hotel to stay over for attending a wedding in the local area. Our greeting at reception was welcoming, friendly & efficient. Our room was a twin ground floor overlooking a garden space. The room was comfortable and had all the usual facilities. Breakfast was a buffet style and very tasty, with pleasant staff assisting. Very good one nights stay.

It was a pleasant stay at the hotel. The room we stayed in was fab, but needed a deep cleanse. They also had a problem with lady biirds and cobwebs. There was a towel with a brown stripe down the centre...don't go there! There was a problem with the hot tub in the morning therefore we could not use it. However we used it in the night so it wasn't to bad. Staff were lovely and dealt with requests quickly.

Visited & stayed over with 6 friends. Visited the spa first... it's ok but could be great with improvements. It's absolutely tiny! The changing rooms when another couple of groups are in there, is an absolute nightmare. Only 1 toilet, no toilet roll, really dirty floors which just need extra checks by staff throughout the day. No slippers available despite the itinerary stipulating that they were included. Our treatments were lovely, half of us had facials, half had massages. Although the spa advertises Elemis products, I use Elemis daily & I didn't recognise many products being used, albeit the facial was still lovely. The pool area appears quite dated & the water isn't the most appealing. There aren't many beds around the pool so we didn't get chance to sit around much. There is a small relaxation room with bean bags & lava lamps but it was used to walk through by people to get from the pool to the changing rooms so it was trampled on & wet in places. Not very appealing at all. The hotel is lovely, the first room we checked in had a really strong smell of fish, the receptionist agreed & told us it was coming from the bathroom drains so moved us straight away. 2nd Bedroom was lovely, very comfortable beds & clean. Meal on the night in the restaurant was lovely & good value. Staff were really friendly & happy to help. The spa needs a full deep clean & maybe smaller numbers of guests allowed in at once. Would return to the hotel but probably to to the spa.

So pleased the Wild Pheasant has been taken over by Best Western and received the refurbishment it deserved. We stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay . Welcoming staff, delicious food and a modern dog friendly bright room made a contrast to the usual second rate rooms reserved for dog owners. Well done. Will be back to try the spa.My dog has her photo taken with her favourite toy.. a wild pheasant!

"Lovely spa visit"

Visited here to use the spa with my husband. The spa is compact but has everything you need: a steam room, sauna and small pool with different jets, showers and bubble effects. The really nice touches are the relaxation rooms: one has spa waters and teas and the other has bean bags and mood lighting to relax after treatments. We didn't have any treatments but the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the spa products they sell. The spa area is beautifully lit and there are yoga classes on Thursday evenings.

My husband and I booked in for valentines night, we had a wonderful meal, the steak was cooked exactly as we asked, the staff were lovely, altogether a very special night. We didn't stay the night, but the hotel looked very welcoming, and we wouldn't hesitate to book in another time.

"Nearly good"

The hotel is well situated in Llangollen and has a nice feel to it. The bar is good. Our room was damp and smelly. The beds were not comfortable. The changing rooms in the spa area were messy and not very clean. The steam and sauna were not hot enough and the spa pool was disappointing. Some of the food was very good, but it was not consistent. The staff were very nice and helpful.
