    « It's always good »

I have been at this hotel some many times! Every time I enjoyed my stay, I like the room, even though is an old building, the rooms are updated so, it's pretty comfortable. The staff at the front desk are always so friendly!

    « Good afforable hotel »

I've stayed at this hotel quite a few times and this was the best stay. They updated and upgraded their breakfast. They also made some improvements to décor and new bedding. I have always liked staying here but now I love it.

    « Newly renovated »

This property is obviously a newly renovated Motel6, or something of the like. They have made every effort to make you not think about what it once was. Just a quick 1 night stop over driving through to Denver. Right off the highway, so very convenient. Didn't do breakfast. Nice, helpful staff.

    « Great Hotel »

This was a great experience for a hotel, good location/easy to get to, quiet/sound proof rooms, and really good service. I enjoyed my stay and would probably return or utilize other Best Westerns. The breakfast was ok, but all the rest of the service and experience was good.

    « Great traveler's hotel »

I had visited sites nearby and need a place just to sleep one night. This highly rated (on TripAdvisor) place turned out to be just right for my needs. Comfortable, close to freeways, breakfast included, and moderately prices. The check-in and check-out was quick and efficient, the room was comfortable and clean, the bed just right. All in all, it was a good stay. I would definitely stay here again if in the neighborhood. Especially nice was the breakfast room attendant. Such a happy, cheerful person in a low-wage job is rare and a joy to encounter.

« We stayed here to attend a Chiefs game. »

Friendly staff and very clean room. Took a taxi to and from a Chiefs game. We would book a room here again. We had a great time getting to know other Chiefs fans in the evening by the fire-pit on the patio.

    « Close toTruman Library »

Room was good, breakfast was very good. It is very close to the interstate, but it was quiet. There are several good nationally known places to eat close by. We had some unexpected extra time in Independence so we visited the Truman Library.

« Just ok, exterior needs repairs »

We stayed here in October 2016. We did not make the reservations as we attended a group event where the reservations had already been made. Staff was fine, check in went well, breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast. The interior looked like it had been recently renovated but the walkways and exterior were badly in need of repairs. Beds were just average and I wish I had brought my own pillow. If they get the exterior repaired it might get better reviews but it gave the entire place a shabby feel when we walked to our rooms. I would probably check out other places to stay in this area next time. Even with the large group and the discount we got it was still $99/night without tax and other fees.

    « Location is good. »

Stayed here several times when my daughter lived in Independence. Just an average hotel/motel. Pool was small, breakfast was ok and rooms were blah. Make sure to walk next door to sheridans and get some custard. Very good! Right off interstate.

    « bad experience »

we were given a smoking room instead of a nonsmoking room. THe facility is old and the doors don't fit. Sort of scary. But on the up side the breakfast was good and every employee we met went out of their way to be nice to us.

« Great Location, Clean, Well Managed »

This is an older hotel that has been remodeled. It is close to several sporting and historic venues. There has easy access to the highway but it's close proximity is not heard in the rooms. It is also close to shopping and excellent local restaurants as well as most popular chains.

« Good value and quality for your stay »

You can tell this is an older motel type building, but it has been renovated and the workmanship has been very good. Painting and wall surfaces were very well done, decorating very tasteful. The rooms were a bit small, especially the bath area, but for the space that they had to work with, it was quality work. Asked one of the staff people helping to clean rooms where I might find an ice machine and, not only did he tell me where to find it, he walked to the ice machine to help me locate it. Very kind and helpful staff. Bed was a little hard, but that is a personal preference thing.

« Average roadside motel, nice staff, great breakfast selection »

This is your typical roadside motel. I will start with the pros. Easy to find as it's right off the highway. The staff is very friendly. At breakfast, they took out dirty plates promptly and greeted us friendly. The breakfast selection was bigger than most I've seen. We are talking eggs bacon & ham! The room looked as it was recently remodeled. There is a fridge and microwave. And lastly, the price was right! Now for the cons. We thought we had a nonsmoking room because we had to initial saying we wouldn't smoke or be subjected to a cleaning fee. But when we got to our room it was obviously a smoking room. It smelled so bad plus there was an ashtray. We were too tired to fuss about it. As the night went on it got stronger. Even the pillows reeked. The coffee pot was broken. It leaked and grounds got into the cup. There was some questionable behavior in the parking lot that got me a little nervous. But I understand the hotel cannot control what people do. If you choose this hotel and don't smoke, make sure you have a nonsmoking room. This motel is fine for a night.

    « Traveling in Missouri »

The Hotel is nice and located right off of I-70. Free breakfast way better than average. Some rooms are Pet Friendly, which is why we chose this hotel. At check-in, we were missing Kleenex. Also for two nights, no ice bucket. On 2nd day, no drinking glasses were supplied. At check-in, the clerk offered to give us no pet fees, as there was confusion on my initial reservation, Turns out I was charged pet Fees with no notice they changed their mind.

    « Would recommend. »

Nicely updated. Clean. Would recommend. One drawback is outside room entry. Easy access to highway. Nice outdoor patio and firepit. Doesn't look like much from the outside but is nicely updated inside.

    « Clean and comfortable »

My room was perfect for me and the inn is in a convenient location. The staff was friendly and cheerful and the breakfast was wonderful, I had a pleasant stay. They do have some unsightly structural issues with the second floor and the effects of having the a/c units drain right onto the walkway outside the rooms. I think they are working on fixing things.

    « Smoky Room »

After specifically requesting a non-smoking room, we had a room (130) which said non-smoking but was next to a smoking room. Our room smelled like smoke and got worse when the AC came on. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was average. We won't be back due to the smoking issue as I am extremely sensitive to cigarette smoke.

    « Needs a lot of renovation »

This Best Western needs a lot of renovation. The furniture was old and warn and the whole place looked (and smelled) shabby. The breakfast would have been better if we had gone somewhere else. I have to say that the room was clean and the shower was OK, but that is all. We would look for somewhere else. Super 8 looked better and shared a parking area.

« Best Westerns are inconsistent. »

One of the things I value is consistency in lodging. Best Western doesn't have it. This place looked a little run down in the outside areas. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The flush valve in the toilet wouldn't seat properly so there was a noise until you got the valve seated correctly. In the middle of the night, it drives you nutz. The digital TV remote didn't work so the desk clerk had to come to the room, change the TV from digital to analog and give us a new remote. Result: Lousy picture. After the flush valve wakes you up at night, the noisy freeway keeps you awake. Other than that, it was just fine.

    « Affordable & Clean »

Price was really good at this location and the room was clean. Breakfast was pretty good for being included in the price. Location was near the interstate - so had some noise from the road - but after a long day on the road we slept well.

    « Super comfortable bed »

My husband loves to complain about hotel beds and how uncomfortable they are. No complaints, just praise for this stay. What a relief for both of us. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was a tad lackluster but I got in there right as everyone else did so they were running out of items but you could see that they were trying to keep up. everything was hot and tasty. A lot of variety for breakfast. I am a huge BW fan and would come to this one again if we are ever in KC area again.

    « Fall vacation »

Very nice old hotel the outside needs some work but, the room and lobby was beautiful. Had been on the road for 10 day this wad be for one of the nicest hotel. The lady working the breakfast was a very nice and friendly lady. Made sure that your breakfast was great start of the day.

    « Late night find! »

Booked online mobile due to reviews, checked in moments later - great room on second floor! Clean & well decorated! Shower needs "dam" on tub to keep water from floor. Awesome breakfast & attentive staff - the best in ten days on the road! Building outside needs paint, repairs, & upgrades..

    « Very good value »

This is an older motel, two stories with no elevator, but rooms, while small, seem well kept. Bathroom is teeny but has a nice grab bar. The bed is very comfortable. The air conditioning system didn't seem to work very well at removing humidity from the room. Bedding was nice although the lighting was somewhat dim. Very nice to have two luggage racks. Also had a microwave and refrigerator. Breakfast had an efficient attendant and was fine. I was at first concerned because this hotel was much less expensive than some others in the area and I worried it wasn't going to be good. I read the reviews and decided to trust them. I think it is lower priced because it is an older two-story layout with outside stairs and no elevator. But the rooms are clean and beds were good. This was very good value.

« Friendly staff and nice breakfast »

Very convenient location just off the highway. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was good with a pancake maker as opposed to the horrible waffle maker. The front desk staff were friendly. A decent Best Western.

    « Great Staff »

Very friendly and helpful staff, nice clean rooms. We just spent one evening there, checked in very late and the desk clerk was very courteous and gave directions to a great pizza joint. I would recommend this place for the value and overall cleanliness. Now I am just adding fluff to get to 200 characters

« Good Experience, near Stadiums »

Great place to stay, clean, good breakfast (full) nice people and convenient location for both KC Stadiums and the Truman Museum. Older property but very well done and you can park by your door which I like. Friendly staff from the desk to the maids and breakfast servers.

« Here for NFL game »

This was a great place to stay for just an overnight visit to KC. We were in town for a football game and were able to get a taxi from the hotel to the gate for $13. It is a little ways from actual KC but not far from the stadiums. Had a great breakfast and very attentive staff. We would stay here again.

« Given the reviews, was expecting better »

Given the strong reviews, I was expecting better, so was disappointed, but overall felt that it was an OK experience. The staff were all uniformly very nice and accommodating, and the breakfast had a decent variety and was good (cereals, instant oatmeal, eggs (scrambled and hard boiled), sausage, variety of breads + muffins/biscuits (with gravy available), pancake maker, yogurt, juices. Warning: go early. towards the end, they didn't refresh much, so it isn't as nice.) The room, however, which is the main part of any hotel stay was only OK. It was a non-smoking room, but because there are a lot of smokers who smoke outside of the rooms, it seems like the A/C sucks in the smokey air and then blows it into the room, so it constantly went from it smelling like someone had just smoked into the room to vaguely stale smoke when several hours had passed and people were gone for the day. Also, the A/C wasn't great. It didn't get very cool, it seemed to make it more humid in the room (everything felt a little bit damp all the time), and the carpet wasn't very clean (we had to wash our feet after walking around in the room before going to bed). But the bathroom was clean enough (though a bit run down), and there was a mini fridge and microwave in the room, which was helpful. Also, they had wifi, but unlike other hotels I've been at which remember you at least during the same day, if not for the whole stay, every time we wanted to get on wifi, we had to log on again, even if it had been an hour since we were last on it. All in all, had most people listed it as a 3 star place, I probably would have been less disappointed, but because so many people said such great things, I was expecting better. Instead, I got, what I would call a "typical Best Western experience", solid, but not fantastic.

    « Great Hotel Experience »

This has Great Staff and Amy at the front desk went out of her way , when they were busy and made me coffee too boot.Very nice to deal with , as I had just left another hotel that was terrible. Good Coffee and food . Nice -Clean rooms. Great staff.

« Pedestrian access is poor »

The hotel itself is pretty nice, but after driving all day I wanted to walk a bit. The Hotel is on busy street with no crosswalks or signal nearby so it was challenging to reach the restaurants and stores that were just across the street.

    « Truman Inn Smoking/Non-Smoking »

This motel was just average although priced higher than that. I would assume for the location? We reserved a non-smoking room but ended up in a room that smelled strongly of smoke. They still called it non-smoking. We stuck it out because they had no other rooms and it was late. I typically stay over 200 nights a year in motels and normally prefer Best Westerns. This was definitely at the low end of their motels.

« Nice Place to Stay »

Our experience with this motel was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms could stand to be updated a little bit but were very clean. I would recommend this motel if your looking for a reasonable place to stay.

    « Great Place »

Great location, just off the highway.. Lots of things in and around the motel which made it convenient, Staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Room was very clean and everything worked perfectly. Parking right in front of your room is so very helpful.

    « summer road trip »

Our family went on a summer road trip our first stop was in Missouri, our stay was wonderful! Our bed was very comfy, the room was clean , the breakfast was good. The sofa sleeper however was not very comfortable. The weather was not good for the pool but it looked nice

    « July visit »

Our experience was overall good. We were there for 2 nights and we had a king room. The room was clean. The breakfast was ok (hot) and if you are in a rush but are used to eating in the morning before you go out and about then this place is worth it. Its a motel and not a hotel. We were on the ground floor. For the price, it was ok, as it was next to the highway. There are choices to eat within a mile.

« Average place to stay. »

This motel was in a great location near the interstate highway. The staff was great and the bed was comfortable. The a/c system did not work well during the night as the temperature was too hot and then too cold for comfort. At check out the clerk reduced my bill to compensate.

    « Average »

Although updated a year ago it's a Best Western. Nothing luxurious, but clean and friendly staff. It could be cheaper. Does have a nice clean pool and sits next to an ice cream place. Again, just average.

« A must Stay for the Kansas City area. »

Perfect location for the KC, MO. area. Great staff, rooms, & amenities. The breakfast was very tasty & hot. Enjoyed the stay. Was able to visit many places around the Independence, Mo area. Easy access from the I-70 & it was very quiet. Could not hear the traffic at all.

« Great Place to Stay »

This hotel is in a perfect location. Close to the Truman Museum and downtown. The front desk staff are very professional and friendly. Breakfast was excellent with ample amounts available. Will stay there again if we're in the area.

  • 4
    « Very clean »

Very clean room. Breakfast was great. Less than 15min drive to Swope Park (KC Zoo and Starlight theatre). Frozen custard/ice cream shop in parking lot - kids loved it! Outdoor pool is deep, not a kiddie pool.

« So Close To Kauffman Stadium »

This was a perfect spot. The room was great, location is perfect, beds are comfy, and the shower has great water pressure. In town for Royals games, and this was the perfect spot to lay your head after a long, hot day at the stadium. Would definitely recommend to friends.

« Royals Ball Game Stay »

The stay was average at best. The hotel is getting dated and in need of upgrades. Maid service somewhat inattentive. Left an empty Kleenex box (empty when we got there) so it could be replaced. We found it as we left with no Kleenex in the room for our stay. Front desk personnel was very helpful. Staircase to upper level had a tread plate that was in need of gluing. I removed it so they would see it. It was overlooked and just threw back in place. Trip hazard.

    « Unexpected excellant experience! »

This was an older motel I had stayed at 12 years earlier. The exterior was basically the same but with obvious upgrades and amenities i.e. pool, outdoor grilling, firepit - cobblestone patio w/fountain and covered veranda. Interior rooms and lobby have been totally upgraded and the staff well trained and friendly. Great value - highly recommend!

    « WOW!!! What a pleasant surprise! »

We drove in at 1 AM tired and weary and the Night manager couldn't have been nicer and more pleasant. The room was clean, comfy, smelled nice and easy freeway access. But most importantly we left our keys in the room and the manager called me personally on my cell phone to let me know they found my keys and immediately mailed them to me today! I have stayed at 5-star resorts that would not have paid me that courtesy! I am so impressed I can't see enough nice things about these people! hopefully their supervisor reads this and knows to be so so grateful? Fabulous employees are hard to come by!

    « Old, needs remodeling »

The room was old, and bathroom needs to be remodeled and larger. Bed was not comfortable. A/C unit was worn out or needed servicing. The only thing positive about this place is the location right off of I-70 and close to stores, resturants, etc. Also, the hot breakfast in the morning was delicious, and the hostess was very nice. The lobby and breakfast room were nice. They need to work on the guestrooms tho.

    « Overnight stay »

We were homeward on route 70 and ahead of our AAA itinerary so we needed a hotel in the Kansas City area. The price and availability were right so we booked the Best Western Truman online on the morning of our stay. We arrived late, not having accounted for a time zone change, but we were pleased to find the pool was still open. The desk clerk had us booked for a king bed and sofabed but that was 2nd floor walk up. When I asked if she had anything on the first floor, she was able to switch us. The room was a little on the small side but OK. The breakfast attendant was pleasant and helpful. I would stay again if in the area.

« Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient »

The hotel is clean and comfortable. Chose this location to be close to I-70 and to the Truman Library and Museum. The property is pet friendly, there are green spaces to visit for potty time, however there are not a lot of great places to go for a walk without getting in the car and heading to a nearby park or historic Independence. Room is very comfortable, as is the bed. Be sure to ask for a NON smoking room. I did not realize that smoking is allowed at this property and I ended up with a smoking room. Full breakfast is offered and included in the price of the room. There is a swimming pool, very refreshing on a hot summer day! Also, be sure to ask for a room on the "odd number" which is on the quiet side and other side from the highway.

    « Convenient, Truman Library »

We chose here for convenience, along with the Best Western two-nights separate stays deal, and found here to be a good place to stay. Comfortable with a good breakfast, and eas access parking. The young lady at the front desk gave us dinging help and we had a good evening.

    « Worth the money »

We stayed overnight for a concert in June. The motel is only 3 1/2 miles away from Arrowhead (worth the cab ride). The price was decent. Our room was clean. It's just your basic motel set up. I do love that each room had its own microwave and mini fridge. The bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly and even let us check in early because our room was ready! There is highway noise but if you look at the location you can see that it's located right by the highway. So, if this bothers you.. It's not the motels fault, it's yours. The hotel is conveniently located close to many restaurants, gas stations, etc. We didn't utilize the pool but it looked clean.

« Older but ok hotel. »

Not as nice as other Best Western hotels I have stayed in. This hotel is older. It is a no smoking hotel but you have to walk in piles of discarded cigarette butts to get to your room. What staff I came into contact with seemed friendly. The outside pool area is nice and clean. They do have a outside seating area made of stone that was nice. This hotel was just recently bought out by someone else. Hope they make some improvements. The upper balcony facing super 8 needs attention. Looks to be coming apart in places. Would be nice to see them put a gutter system on it so all the air conditioner drain water won't run off on the people below trying to get to their cars. On our next trip we will try Red Roof Inn across the highway..

    « A great place to stay! »

Clean, quiet, comfortable, convenient! Very much appreciated the convenience of parking right in front of out door. Also enjoyed the comfortable chairs in the spacious lobby and the coffee available there. A quiet place to read if you just want some time outside the room.

    « Throwback to the 70s »

Fair hotel for the region. Older style, outdoor rooms that open to the outdoor balcony, are not ideal, but they did close securely. Some signs of age with crumbling sidewalks. The outdoor pool was welcoming and felt nice on a 100-degree afternoon. Breakfast, when replenished was tasty - get there early if you want a donut - because they were not restocked on Sunday morning.

    « comfortable accomodations »

Very nice hotel, recently remodeled, clean and comfortable rooms. Nice furnishings, decent complimentary breakfast and an outdoor pool, conveniently located near lots of shopping and within 15 minutes of Kauffman stadium.

    « Honest employees »

We stayed here overnight on the way back to Kentucky and were not there long but we were impressed with the hotel staff. We inadvertently left four of our bags on the bed when we left the next morning. The hotel called us as soon as they found out and told us they would mail our stuff back. I was a little worried that we would only get part of our stuff, if we in fact got anything at all. Sure enough, only two days after we left, the bags showed up on our front porch with everything in them! This included DVDs and my iPad! Now, the hotel itself is pretty nice. It is clean and the outdoor pool that has a rainbow of colored lights is a fun touch. Breakfast was what you can expect for a free breakfast- not bad but not exceptional. Again, however, staff here was fantastic. They were very friendly and constantly made sure all breakfast items were well stocked.

    « I Was Robbed ( cash taken from room ) »

This is a hard review to post. We returned today from a two night stay at the Truman Inn. The room # 141. was clean and updated. It is located to the back of the Inn.However out first night of sleep was really bad. The AC ( window unit ) did not work at all, so we tossed and turned all night ( very hot , inside and out )The next morning as we went to breakfast ( best feature of the Inn ) we reported our night to the front desk manager, he was apologetic, and said he would ask his boss for a reduced rate ( more or less after we asked for it ). Also he would have the AC looked at. Here is the really bad part,, as we are at breakfast ( clean, and nice selection ) the maid came to our room to clean, she also cleaned out my wallet of my money for this vacation . We where not aware of the theft tell i went to get out my money to buy some admission tickets. We immediately called the Inn, reported the missing money, and drove back to the Inn to make sure nothing else was missing. Which was not. So back to front desk. manager tells us he has spoken to the ( new maid ) who cleaned out room, and guess what, she denied it. So he called the police for us to make a report. Which after a long wait, and them not coming, we decided to try and save our day and left. The manager then gave us two free tickets to the Truman Library, and said to have a nice day. When we came back that evening the AC was working. When we checked out we received 50% off that first nights stay. The moral to this story is, the Truman Inn is NOT a place to have trust in, no matter the reviews.

    « Two night stay »

The hotel was clean but not as nice as other Best Westerns we have stayed in. Rooms opened to the outside so I didn't feel as safe as I would have liked. The bathroom is tiny. However, the staff is great and the breakfast very good. It was a good location for places we wanted to visit.

    « Quaint Hotel »

We just spent overnight here on the last leg of our journey home from vacation. We got a first floor room that you could park in front of, which made it easy to unload. Our room seemed a little small with the two beds in it. It was a nice, clean room, very tastefully decorated. There was a minifridge, and free wifi. There was a large sink w/countertop outside the bathroom, which came in handy for "spreading out our stuff". The bathroom was small, just a toilet & bathtub w/shower. The shower barely sprayed water , like they were afraid you'd run up their bill if you used too much. The beds were comfortable. They had a breakfast from 6-10, that consisted of the usual eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage, etc. The staff were all very friendly & helpful. We basically arrived, used the wifi, went to bed, showered, ate, & left. I do not know that much about what else the motel offered. I do consider it a good value.

    « great service »

The staff was great, every bit as gracious and hardworking as an expensive hotel's staff. The only drawback was there was no elevator for taking bags upstairs. This is an older remodeled hotel. Clean, neat. I'd stay here again. If, you're like me and just want a clean, comfortable room with helpful staff stay here and save the $$ you pay for the pricier properties' impressive lobbies.

    « Quick overnight »

Stopped here for a trip from Columbus, Ohio to Wichita, Ks. Hotel was very busy as its seems to be the crossroad of America. The rooms are spacious and clean. HDTV in the room and a clean bathroom. I would recommend to stay here. Its quick access to I-70 and plenty of fuel stops and restaurants in the area.

    « Nice hotel/great value »

Nice hotel. I stay here when working in Kansas City, MO. Easy access off highway, hotel is clean, staff friendly. They've added a patio in back on the lot which is a nice touch and the lobby has been renovated. Rooms are about average but clean and a good value. The bed was comfortable. I feel safe here as a woman traveling alone. There is always staff ready to help or assist and the parking lot is well lit.

« Hotel in poor shape, not very clean, toilet did not flush »

Rooms are very small. Very bad experience as the toiltet did not flush and we ended up using it over again and again. I thought Best Western was a good brand. Stairs was not cleaned and I could see spider webs there. To me this hotel looks like a motel that was acquired to make some changes and increase business my giving Best Western Brand Name. We have stayed in Best Western before, but this hotel is no where like a Best Western i expected.

« clean and organized hotel, seems like recent remodel »

the room was very clean, breakfast was normal from best western chains, but the ladies there were very friendly and it was very clean and organized. we spent a day at worlds of fun and oceans of fun and afterwards we look for a hotel and everything around the area was booked, clerk gave us manager discount and a great stay after all

« Tiny Rooms with outside entrances »

Very small room - women traveling alone should probably look elsewhere because this sits right beside the interstate and outside entrances don't appear safe in this area. Our handicapped room did not have a shower hose and a higher than normal bathtub which made it tough, plus the tub was slippery so I had to put a towel there as a shower mat. The pictures on the BW website carefully do not show the overall appearance, so is overstated. I would not stay here again.

« Great staff and clean rooms at the Outlaw Inn »

Had such a great time there on the way to Wisconsin to visit grandkids that we came back on our return trip. Betty at the front desk is wonderful; Roberto in the dining room could not do enough to make our dining experience exceptional. Peggy in the lounge was helpful and very personal. Recommend this BW highly.

« Terrible TV at a high price »

The hotel is reasonably equipped: nice beds, good enough shower, clean. Breakfast was OK. It is close to the stadiums. But for the money -- $150/night for us -- we expected more than fuzzy local channels on the TV. Very disappointed with that. The motel is right on the interstate, and was therefore noisy. We will not return to this motel.

« Nice Hotel, Bad Front Desk Staff »

This was a decent hotel - location great, nice, clean and quiet room, pool was adequate, patio area is a plus for visiting, breakfast is standard. Front desk person was rude, arrogant and condescending. First "non-smoking" room reeked of cigarette smoke. When we asked for another room, the woman said, "Wow! You sure have sensitive noses." Didn't get maid service although we called for it. Woman acted like we didn't deserve room service because we only stayed 2 nights. She gave my husband bath mats instead of towels and then argued with him that they were towels. Very disappointed with her idea of customer service!

    « Excellent but... »

This could be an excellent Best Western. The staff was very nice, the breakfast great and the room was clean and pleasant. The only reason we are not rating this as excellent are the refrigerator trucks that are allowed to park outside and run all night. We didn't get a very good night's sleep but the staff moved us the next day.

    « Graduation night »

Very comfortable, clean, delicious breakfast. Nice area to sit outside at the fire pit. Next to a really good ice cream place is a bonus. Convenient to KC activities & attractions. Only complaint was for a non smoking room it smelled to me, hubby didn't notice.

« Trip to Kansas Speedway »

Excellent rooms, great Free Breakfast, Front Desk super great service...will visit again. Easy access to Interstate, close to City, yet far enough away from hustle of city noise...Close to Royals Stadium,Arrowhead Stadium, and Plaza too.

    « great stay »

the hotel was easy to find, sklar the girl that helped us was wonderful, it was very clean, price was right, I would recommend this place to all my friends and family, beakfast was good, and there was plenty of options. no problems whats so ever!!!!!!!

    « Good stay »

The breakfast staff went above and beyond to help with my kids. it was greatly appreciated! The rooms were clean and nice. Overall this was a good experience and I would stay at this hotel again. I would recommend this to anyone that needed to stay in the area. The value was also appropriate.

« Great place to stay! »

I stay at this hotel quite frequently for business meetings, and events. This is a great place to stay! It's always clean, bed is very comfortable, locale is great. Restaurants are close by, shopping, etc., are readily accessible. It's my "Home away from home."

    « Perfect for Us! »

Came down to Mo for a Twins game, hotel was nice and close to the stadium. Room was clean, hotel had a hot breakfast which was great. Only stayed one night, but would stay again if ever in MO. Highly recommend!

« very clean best western and modern! »

It was nice and updated - very friendly staff and right off the highway! We slept well, had a room by highway 70 but didn't notice any horrible noise. Enough parking in the lot to park near our room and even though the pool area was closed it looked nice. The next time we go to kc we will definitely stay again!

    « Life Leadership »

Great service. Everyone there were very friendly. I would stay again. I was there with a lot of business partners and we all had breakfast together and the staff were so great in making sure there was plenty of food and they even went around picking up peoples dirty plates. I will check out Best Western where ever I go from now on.

    « What we needed »

Stayed for one night when in town for a funeral. Room was clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Nice water pressure. Friendly employees. Many choices for breakfast. Server catered to my handicapped mother. Lots of places outside to sit and visit. Convenient to Interstate. Had a malfunction with the bathroom door, but that happens. They were apologetic and hopefully it was taken care of. Traffic noise, but that happens in the big city by the interstate. Would stay again.

« Good location, hotel managed well »

I stayed one night on April 3, 2016 and the weather was very pleasant in Independence on that night. But travelers need to realize that there is no central interior access to rooms. All room are accessed by a common breezeway, steps and exterior balcony. The room doors open to the outside. I was not comfortable with the fact that there were only thin gauze curtains at the window onto the balcony. The heavy drapes were fixed and would not close to block out anyone's view into the room from the balcony. Further, the shower/toilet area is so small there is nowhere to get dressed but in the main sleeping area of the room, into which someone could look directly into the room if so inclined. After saying all that, I do think this hotel is managed well. There were many travelers enjoying the breakfast on the morning of April 4, 2016. There are a few places for dinner or ice cream within walking distance. And the hotel is right on the I 70. As a solo traveler, I will consider Best Western Truman Inn again. If I am traveling with family, I may be the only one to appreciate the 1950-ish "motel" layout of this facility. If you want to leave the room, there is no place to go but outside.

    « Worst stay ever »

The TV was not clear and kept going to black and white. The heater had a funny odor. There was no hot water in the morning to shower. The pillows are smaller than a standard size pillow. There was no blanket on the bed just two sheets pretty much.

    « Nice Stay »

Breakfast was excellent, Room maybe had to much furniture.. took up free space.. Over all very comfy.. Also pet friendly.. Staff was vary friendly and ready to help out someone who was not familiar with the location... Very close to many attractions (i.e. Truman Library and home.. also close to many of the great Bar-b-que joints KC is known for.. Royals & Arrowhead are just up the road... I was too early for both...

    « Tournament trip »

The stay at this hotel was my second and it is a wonderful place. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We loved the location also for us to go to the Events Center to attend games. The rate was also very satisfactory.

« best free hotel breakfast I've ever had »

Nice older hotel. Average wear but clean and well maintained. More room than average (1 King) couch, nice flat screen tv, great internet. The staff we encountered was very friendly. Tons of breakfast selections. Scramble eggs, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, real donuts, milk, juice, being continuously restocked. Not the greatest location , but that's not the hotels fault. Just off two busy roads/highways, but it was quiet inside the rooms.

    « Good stay »

It's a little confusing to get to, especially at night. It's a motel and I could hear cars on the interstate. However, I slept very well. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. This motel is close to food and gas stations.

« What do you expect? »

Same hotel chain, different city....the exterior is dated but the room was fine. Breakfast in these types of hotels are always the same, limited and microwaved into submission. For the price paid, I am happy with everything about my stay.

« Nice Rooms but its a Motel »

I loved my last stay at Best Western in Chicago so I actively Looked for another one on my Trip to Kansas City, I even picked it farther away than I needed to get the name brand. The pictures made it look just like my last hotel in Chicago but failed to mention that it was a motel, so the overall security of my room felt compromised and had to go up a flight of stairs to my room

    « Overnight Stay »

Very pleased with our stay at this hotel. Received great customer service from friendly staff members. The room was clean with comfortable beds. The breakfast was good, very basic breakfast that offered quality of different foods.

« Great Stop....easy on and easy in »

Love the hotels that you can pull right up to the room. Very clean and well run. Rooms and bathroom were a bit on the small side, but all in all a really good stop. The staff was terrific. Worked very hard to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Very easy and close proximity to the interstate. We will return!

    « Friendly and Accommodating »

The staff at this hotel was extremely accommodating and polite, friendly. We were very satisfied staying here. My wife has asthma and we had to change rooms because of the room next to us having smoking guests. No fuss, we were moved and immediately accommodated.

« Overall, nicely updated older hotel »

Older hotel, park at your door style. Our heat didn't work, but I don't think that's typical. We didn't realize it wasn't working until after we went to bed. It wasn't that cold outside that night so not a huge deal. We stayed with our pet, no issues and plenty of walking opportunities around the grounds. The b'fast area is the nicest we've seen from a BW. Great selection, presentation, etc.

    « Worth Looking »

If you are looking for a good place to stay. Here is a good choice. Beds are good. Staff is good and friendly. Access to motel is a little ackward to get to the motel. Once you figure it out it is not a bad place.

« Great place, highly recommended »

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way, offering excellent value for the price. Front desk staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The lobby was lovely and spacious. Since we got in late, I was VERY grateful for the ability to buy a packaged meat-and-pasta food item from a small "pantry" near the desk, heat it in our microwave and eat in our room, saving us a trip out in the cold darkness to search for food. The beds were comfortable with very fresh, clean linens. I was grateful for the cotton blanket, since synthetic blankets are like sleeping under a sheet of plastic (i.e., hot). The morning breakfast was very nice. I was very impressed by the obvious effort Best Western is making to solicit customer feedback and really listen to what the traveling public wants. This chain is now our favorite brand for value and comfort.

« Motel style stay near Truman's Museum »

I stayed in Independence, Missouri, at a Best Western Truman Inn. The room was fairly small, but clean. The manager was wonderful and on top of things. The best part was the breakfast and the variety of choices. There were flavored syrups for coffee, waffle maker and juices. For the price, it was a good location to stay at. No problems with housekeeping. We requested extra towels and toiletries and they were granted. On Thanksgiving day, the housekeepers even serviced the room with happy faces!

    « Traveling through »

The room and the staff were both a welcome fresh to stay with. The room very clean and the staff friendly. The breakfast food was hot and good, but could have had fruit to go long with it. They do provide a security patrol to ensure your car or truck is not messed with.

« Perfect spot for KC weekend trip »

This hotel is located at 70 and Noland Road. We were attending an event at Arrowhead Stadium and wanted to go downtown to visit the WWI Memorial and Crown Center. We found it to be a great location to do this from. The room was good sized and clean, and the American breakfast very adequate. The staff was excellent from check in to room service to breakfast service. Noland Road is full of shopping and restaurants and gas stations; in fact, a Quick Trip is in walking distance from the hotel. We thought this was a great value and good choice for our weekend getaway and would definitely stay here again.

    « Senior Citizen »

This hotel is at a good location for us. Very close to the interstate, shopping & restaurants. We have stayed there many times. The staff is very friendly & professional. I recommend this hotel & give it a high rating.

« Comfortable, close to the interstate »

Room are dated but functional. We were traveling cross country so we just needed a place to rest, the décor is a minor point. Breakfast is good. A bit overpriced for the quality, you are paying for location.

    « small bath rooms »

Small room, clean room, friendly staff . The room seemed kind of dark. probably because of the furniture. The bedding was not as warm as I would prefer. It was all clean. From 4 pillows I was able to find 2 that I could use. The small bathroom was my biggest disappointment. It was only as wide as the tub/shower was long . The toilet took up half the rest of the available space.

    « Bed Bugs in room #144! »

Bed bugs found after getting up in the morning. Told front desk, seem horrified, but said someone will look at it and that someone would be calling. No one called. You do not want to take bed bugs home with you. We had to clean out our car, go through all luggage and clothing, treat our luggage, and wash/dry our clothing immediately.

« Great Place to Stay In KC »

This is a very nice and affordable hotel, set up like a motel with separate entrances to rooms, if staying in KC area. It was easy to find and we were very happy with our room. It was clean, had a nice tv and bath area. The beds were comfortable too! The room had a small frig, a microwave and coffee machine. The hotel offered a wonderful breakfast in the morning as part of the deal. We have only good things to say about this place. We would stay there again if going to the KC area.

    « good review »

the stay at Best Western was wonderful and when I return to Raytown I will be returning there-Thank you very much for your kindness but it would be nice if you had bacon for us Tennessee people lol. Also I enjoyed the flowers that were landscaped and the new guy that was laying the new blocks was doing an excellent job and the job was looking good

« Nice, Clean, and Convenient »

Hotel was clean and neat. I liked the location of the hotel. The customer service was great. I had no problems. I will be staying here again in the future. I was impressed by how clean the rooms were. They have a nice size flat screen tv with a dvd player. I'm glad that they provide this type of entertainment.

« Very nice room, very comfortable bed, close to Truman Library »

Very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff and the quality of the breakfast and the bed. The desk clerk recommended a restaurant that was very good and was a good value. We loved that the hotel was close to the Truman Library and other city attractions.

    « Great Stay »

We were in Kansas City for a conference. This was 20 minutes how, but the price was great. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the breakfast was hot. My wife and I always stay at Best Westerns, and this one gives us no reason to change!

« Great Place to Stay »

The Best Western was in a great location to see Kansas City. It is located right off the expressway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a nice selection of food, including eggs, sausage, cereal, sweet stuff, bagels and fruit, pretty much anything you might want for breakfast. The woman in charge of this area was so helpful making sure everything was well stocked and even coming to the tables to clear away the used dishes. The room was very comfortable and clean. Really great place to stay.

« Clean, Updated, Friendly Staff »

With all the doors being exterior, I had my reservations, especially with it being located right off the interstate and appearing to be an older building. However, it was quiet, clean and updated. They had a picnic table area outside for guests. The parking lot was clean and had plenty of availability. The staff was really nice and helpful all the time. The breakfast was hot, fresh and tasted good. The staff in the breakfast area was super friendly as well. The beds were comfortable and the bedding and towels were clean/fresh. We would stay there again. Even through it is a little further form the KC nightlife.

    « Hotel Stay »

This was my first stay with a Best Western, all staff was more then happy to help in anyway. I stayed on two separate occasions and both rooms were well stocked, and very clean, they provide all that you could need while away from home. Overall I would recommend the Best Western in Kansas City MO.

    « Very Nice Place... »

For an older building, this was a very nice room. The room was clean, the bedding was very comfortable, and the towels were not paper thin. There was not much noise, even being fully booked. I would recommend a room away from the highway and on the second floor. The service at the front desk was very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was good too, one of the best hot buffets I've ever had in a hotel. You are about 15-20 minutes from the stadium complex and there is a really good BBQ place across the highway. I would stay here again, well worth the money you pay.

    « Pleasantly surprised! »

Great motel. Rooms are on the small side but they are very nice. Beds are very comfy and the pillows are great, i hate a room with too few pillows and flat ones! Updated and looks great. We stayed in rm 210 and had a joining room which worked out great. My only recommendation would be if you are a light sleeper ask for a room in the back. I heard sirens all night, must be a substation close by. Great location for game goers. took a whole 5 min to get to stadium!

« Best Western Truman Inn »

My husband and I have stayed at this Best Western on three different occasions and enjoyed our stay each time. There is plenty to do which is very close. It's very close to the Stadiums and not far from Crown Center.

« Great Hotel and Location »

My wife, Dad and Mom visited Independence to visit family and to attend a wedding. We stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Truman Inn and loved it! The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very good! It was close to the Truman house and to the freeway. I would highly recommend this hotel!

    « Great motel »

This hotel was very clean, quiet and great location! The only bad thing is the bathroom is very small, water pressure not great but toilet flush was very slow!! The breakfast was very filling with eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, all types of breads and pancakes! Juice and coffee. Easy to get anywhere you want to go!

    « Inn? Hotel? No, It's A MOTEL »

VERY disappointed. Arrived to see a motel. Outside entrances, very small rooms, not very nice neighborhood. Interesting note, I presented my Best Western Rewards card at checkin, but was told that I would not be awarded points, because I was on a "contracted" rate. The rate I was being charged was $144.00, and their REGULAR rates were only $79.00. Won't make the same mistake again.

« Nice Place to Stay »

Great location near I-70, with convenient fast-food restaurants and gas stations nearby. Staff personnel are courteous and helpful. Breakfast is good, well presented, and doors remain open until 10:00 AM

    « Best Western »

Very nice hotel to stay at was very happy with my stay, everything was nice from the start, the staff very professional very nice when asking them questions. Can not say anything bad about this hotel or staff, housekeeping very nice and professional.

    « My stay »

Overall I was very satisfied with my stay....I feel there could be a few improvements to make it better for future stays...such as handicap ramp closer to the handicapped rooms, more space needed for handicapped needs between the bed and chest of drawers, remove the chair and ottoman in the handicapped rooms. It was very difficult to maneuver in the limit space....but we managed. The convenience of being next to the office was great.

« Best Western Truman Inn I liked it »

Everything was clean and service was good. And my dogs could stay with me. A solo trip with two furry friends. Would stay here again if in the area! The location was good and the price was fair. If traveling with pets, this is a great place.

« Great place to stay »

Passing through KC this hotel has all you need to rest up. Ti was clean, comfortable, affordable, and the staff was courteous and helpful. Plenty of eating options and several stores close by. It was easy access to and from the interstate as well.

    « Very pleased »

Quick checkin, room fresh and clean. New modern decor. Very quiet even being next to I-70. Breakfast was excellent. Good variety, food was hot and fresh and was kept stocked. The staff was ,without exception, genuinely friendly and sincerely helpful. Truman in exceeded my expectations. Will be back.

« vrai belle place! what a nice place! »

loved it ! honestly i had a real great time was very comfy ...very nice hotel with clean outside pool, also very close from stadium area for baseball and football staff was very nice thumbs up to the breakfast lady.. what a nice service running around with coffee to refill our glass or throw garbage for older people(never saw anything like this) and food was very good on top of that A+ will go back for sure!!!

    « Hotel »

Very nice older completely remolded hotel!! Great Staff!! Had a great stay while attending a KCBS event. I will stay again next year! We found this hotel on Trip Advisor and booked it as soon we seen some of the reviews and seen how close it was to the event I was attending. I forgot how nice it was to pull right up to room and be able unload your car right in front of your room.

    « 1st time in KC »

We came to Missouri to watch the Chiefs play Denver. This hotel was amazing. It was clean, friendly and a great deal. Employee: Every person we came across was willing to help us find things and explain where things are. The owner was at the front desk when we check out and he was friendly also. Room: The rooms are clean and housekeeping was great. Breakfast: We had breakfast 2 times and everything was fresh and the staff once again went above and beyond to make us feel at home. When we come back to KC we will stay here!

Fly into the area to catch 3 baseball games and found this hotel well situated around the ball park and casinos. We enjoyed using the fitness centre and location was great for getting to the downtown and riverside area, which had many activities that weekend.
