« Dement hotel, centrally located »

Stayed here for one night on a business visit (seminar). The room was clean and tidy, but the decor felt a bit dated. When I stayed there there was some refurbishment going on (among other things the elevator). The staff was helpful and the breakfast was decent, but nothing to write home about. Free parking in the backyard was much appreciated.

    « Hotel go bankrupt? »

Very hard to write a review of the hotel. I've stayed many hotels but nothing like this. There is nothing stand out as above average but there is a number of things that gets you surprised. Hotel is clean and seems to be quiet except for the Street outside, because of the 2 glazed window that let noise come inside. Breakfast ok, but nothing that stands out. Staff is friendly and helpful. I was put in the house opposite the street from the main complex, however compensated with a double room (which I not need, I was alone). Now the strange things starts. Reaction number: 1. what, there is a bed-sofa which is made like a bed, why I'm alone, I rather have the sofa. 2. If this is a double room, it's supposed to be for migets? the bed is very small. I would say not even a queen size. 3. It's cold inside the room. Where is the heating? Suprised to find a electric heater by the window and it is switched off. Why? It's cold outside. Why a electric heater, this is a nordic country, noone uses that here especially not hotels. 4. Why all furniture been removed? It just feels naked. Nowhere to put the cloths except for some hangers. Not that I care so much about this. I can use my bag as storage. But still surprising. 5. Why the bed of the low end budget type? Even Ikea have better beds than this. I would guess the price for the bed to be less than 150€. In a hotell I expect not to find one where you notice the strings and make awful sound. Worst bed I ever had in a hotel. 6. Because of the cold room and poor heating the bathroom gets some problems. Because there is a fan extracting the moisture air the cool air from the room blows around your feet and make it feel cool, but I think there is some sort of heating under the floor because the stone floor isn't that cold. 7. TV I not care so much about. But if I would use it's rather small and placed in a strange place for watching. Far away from the chair in the room and consider the size of the TV it not make sense.

« Upgraded rooms are very good. »

Stayed in the recently upgraded part of the hotel, very nice upgraded room, well above average. The restaurant is also worth visiting, not only for the good breakfast, but also for dinner. They have a limited menu, but the items on the menu perform very well. Service is also good, but I would have liked a little wider selection of local brews in the bar. Make sure you get a upgraded room!

    « A trip to Horten »

As a regular customer of Best Western , the hotel offered what you could expect. Great location , clean and tidy an of course friendly and helpful personnel . The breakfast / included was enough and tasty. There is a free wifi and I think car park. The city is small and beautiful. Close to the hotel there is a tourist center from where one can rent a bike. Nearby is Peppes Pizza - which I highly recommend . The biggest challenge for me was to find the way from Sandefjord Torp airport to Horten. So here is my advise to other travelers: Of course you can catch a taxi from the airport - 800 NOK during the week and above 900 NOK at the weekend. There is a free shuttle bus from The airport to the Torp train station. You have to catch the train ( direction Oslo) until Skoppum train stations . The ticket costs 83 NOK. There is a bus from Skoppum which runs in every 30 min to Horten city center . The ticket costs 41 NOK. Credit/debit cards are accepted , so you don't need to have local currency.

    « Average hotel »

Okay location at the marina, walking distance to city center. The room was clean and quite. The rooms are very small but okay though. The breakfast was really nice. Quite expensive rate for so small rooms.

« Good Location, plenty of parking »

We had a nice stay, nice welcome by staff and offered a upgraded room. A couple of beer was ordered and were ready when we were down. Room was small but twin bed layout was ok. But not good beds. Bathroom nice with spacious shower, but soap dispenser was empty. And too hot during the night Wifi was ok and for some reason the 4G was interrupted in the hotel area, so you were forced to use the wifi. Breakfast was good, good coffee. I didn't like the layout with fried egg with bacon. I would like to pick bacon on the side. The scrambled egg was good and seemed to be local made, not tasty though. French stylish croissants looked and tasted good!

    « All Changed »

The staff at this hotel have always been great, very friendly, professional and helpful. When I first stayed here a couple of years ago the appearance of the hotel inside and out left a lot to be desired.... Now it has dramatically changed with the interior rooms, facilities and appearance almost being as good as the staff! It is now a very comfortable hotel to stay in and will happily continue to use it when visiting the area.

    « Beautiful location »

Had a long weekend here recently. Hotel has wonderful views of the little harbour and rhe sea beyond. Bedroom was adequate though could do with modernising. Hotel resturant food was really good, especially the choices at breakfast

    « Renovated »

I been using this hotel occasionally, over several years. It's been my second of choice when going to Horten. Recently they renovated and I really like and welcome the improvements. It's an average hotel still, but very much according to price level as well. The service is high standard and a bonus. Very friendly personnel, and welcoming. Location is central, and easy accessibility to everything this small town can offer. Area and streets connected to this hotel also had a recent facelift for the better. I will recommend this as it is a budget hotel with basic facility and standards. Rooms and service areas nice and tidy. Good parking facilities, and free. Breakfast good and assorted.

« Talk about night and day difference a make over can do »

Not much choice in Horten when it comes to hotels. I decided on Horten BW since I stayed there last year. Since then they have done up the rooms, the reception area and the dining area. They have done a smashing job, and the rooms are very nice and functionally with great broadband. The bathroom is a tad small, but very nice. The breakfast / restaurant room is nice with an open solution so it flows into one with the reception and entrance hall. Breakfast served is very nice and substantial with great choice of traditional Norwegian bread and selection of cheese, meat etc in addition to a cooked breakfast. In addition It's free coffe and Danish in the reception area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitively stay her next time I'm in Horten.

« Renovated part of the hotel is good. »

I stayed here for 2 weeks. I was given a recently renovated room. It was very pleasant with a good view of the harbor. The room was spacious and clean. The room service was good. There was a tea/coffee maker in the room and the tea/coffee were supplied every day. The breakfast is good with many options. The hotel is located close to the harbor from where you can take a ferry to Moss which takes half an hour. It is also close to shops, restaurants, ATM, bus stop, laundry, etc. There are not many choices for hotels in Horten but still this one is good. They also have a common locker room where you can keep your bag for few hours before checkin and after checkout.

    « A good Hotel »

For business purposes, the facilities are very good. Rooms are a little small, but sufficient and recently renovated. The heated floor in the bathrooms is a very nice touch. Restaurant has been improved and recently re-opened and food was good.

    « Worn out hotel. »

The rooms are tiny and the design of the hotel is old and like a labyrith to walk in. Its like one of the low range of hotels that is infesting small cities in Norway. As for the breakfast was ok, but they doesn't have bacon, and that is a turn down for me. Other vice the food was ok.

« Nice place in Horten »

Very nice hotel in Horten. Friendly staff and nice rooms. If in Horten, this is a nice place to stay. The room is nice, bathroom has heated floors. Breakfast is very good. If going to Horten this can be the place to stay :-) Very happy :-)

    « Run-down hotel under renovation »

To be honest, not much is nice about this hotel. It is a city-center hotel, but you don't get much of a city-center-feeling. The road outside runs almost through the entrance. You can either have room with a view towards the harbour but much of it is covered with parking. Or you will be awarded a room with a slightly sad backyard view. What makes this hotel though, is the serviceminded staff and the leisure boat harbour nearby. It's not more remove than you can see the leisure harbor from the hotelrezeption. The leisure harbour is quite nice for a walk and is draped with small restaurants on one side.

    « Mediocre. »

A clean but boring hotel. The internet is useless at peak hours. Couldnt even watch a low quality youtube movie. Staff was friendly. Because of the non-existent internet at peak hours I would not return.

« Great place to stay in Horten »

Horten is not a place with a lot of hotel options, and this is a pretty good to be. The place was being renovated and there are signs of that fact all over the place. The rooms are comfortable, if difficult to cool down (the windows don't open all the way, and hotels in Norway don't believe in air cooling). Breakfast is pretty comprehensive. Amenities are limited, but you could do worse in cities with more options. The location is excellent - close to the downtown area with a mall, 6-7 dining options, and the ferry.

    « Best in Town »

Limited choice of hotels in this area but this one certainly seems to be amongst the best. The staff are very friendly and very helpful on everything. Have only rated it average because it is in the middle of a major refurbishment after which it will hopefully be much better. Free WiFi and a good choice at breakfast.

« Course week in Horten »

I stayed at Best Western Horten Hotell for 5 days when I was at a course at Kongsberg Maritime. The hotell is now under refurbishment and my room had just been finished. The rooms are now very nice. Only thing maybe could be better is the ventilation but I just kept a window a little open during the night. The breakfast is not of the biggest but has the most basic you expect from an breakfast at a hotell. Otherwise helpful hotell staff and a good stay.

    « Refurbished room »

I was positively surprised how nice looking were the interior in a refurbished room. I was staying two nights and I had my room in the 4th floor in the end of corridor. The room was very quiet and comfortable. Also the bathroom was modern and off course clean & tidy. Bed was good as well with two sets of billows. A little bonus was that Best Western hotel is still supporting minibar in rooms and fortunately you don't need to run down to reception to buy a bag of peanuts or a can of soft drink! The hotel-refurbishing project wasn't completed yet and I'm looking forward to see that the public areas at the first floor will get similar face-lift as the rooms already got. Especially breakfast room and the entrance needs some modernisation and fresh look. I was traveling by car and I had some difficulties to locate the entrance and drive way to the parking area behind the hotel. I presume customers arriving by car would appreciate better signage in to the designated hotel parking space. The personnel at the front desk were very friendly and restaurant staff at dinner time and in the morning were friendly and helpful as well. I gave only 3 stars due to on-going refurbishment project. However I'm fairly confident that hotel will get more stars when rebuilding tasks are all fully completed.
