    « Great value »

Booked 2 rooms. Both rooms were excellent and so was the hotel. 1 of the rooms was overlooking the front and was spot on. The other overlooked huge extractors which were on all night and you could hear the horrendous noise even with the window closed. Definitely worth staying there if you book a front room. Great value for money and good location with onsite parking. ( view from rear window below showing huge extractors ) Keith ( Cleethorpes )

    « So disappointing »

On arrival we were told we weren't staying in the hotel but in a separate building a little way up the hill from the hotel...we had not been aware that this might be a possibility before we booked - I wouldn't have booked if this had been made clear. This separate building felt like some random apartments block that was unmanned, a souless, collection of bedrooms, we didn't see anyone in the building, although we heard all the banging doors! We had to walk down to the hotel for breakfast, not much fun in the rain! Tiled stairs down to the bathroom felt dangerous and I don't know about you, but I prefer a door on my bathroom! There was a sky light over the stairs for which you had to be 8 feet tall to reach the blind to close it, and it flooded the bedroom with light as soon as the sun rose. Then there were the part used toiletries....enough said. We picked the hotel because of its character and location- it's a shame we didn't feel like we stayed there.

    « 2 night stay, nice hotel & gorgeous place ?? »

We was bought a 2 night stay in Harrogate at the White Hart Hotel for Christmas! We arrived on the Friday night, swift check in, and the reception staff were lovely! We had a room on the second floor, offered the paper and wake up call - of course had to decline due to needing much beauty sleep!! The rooms were clean, nice and spacious. Floorboards a little creaky and doors do bang when you forget to close them quietly. You can also hear the above room when they walk. Although these are minor things to us, they can be major to others. The beds were comfy, room service immaculate and great to see local products being used in the bathroom! Bathroom was very nice, big and a great powerful shower which is always a bonus!! The hotel itself houses a beautiful restaurant called the Fat Badger ?? classic! And the food is decent too!! It is a stones through away from the centre and you can walk pretty much anywhere in close proximity. Breakfast in the hotel was nice, not amazing but a good spread with some nice flavours. Shame there was no cream cheese for the toast but I suppose we can't all be snobbish like me!! I do love a good cream cheese toast though ???? All in all the hotel was very nice, friendly, warm and inviting. The rooms were spotless, well maintained and just the slight annoyance of hearing everyone's conversations it was a good stay! Would recommend! Thanks for the hospitality!

    « Average for price »

Good location for visiting Harrogate and for me that is where the positives end really. Again like other reviewers found reception staff uninterested and not helpful at all. The car park facilities are a joke and expensive where we found the Montpellier shopping car park near to be half the price. Never understand why a paying patron at a hotel pays parking anyway. Room was clean but again for the price I found it dull, dark and uninspiring. Not cheap either. Breakfast was average at best and once seated we were forgotten about. Think next time I visit Harrogate I'll stay somewhere else

    « Disappointed »

This is a quirky place and really we did not find the staff friendly at all.The bedrooms are modern its little things that let it down. Dressing table and mirror if front of the TV not good when your Husband is watching TV while you spend an hour getting ready.

    « Outstanding! »

We booked two of the three bed apartments and one of the two bed apartments. The standard of the apartments for what we paid was outstanding! I would most definitely stay there again and would highly recommend!!

    « great hotel »

me and my partner stayed here for our anniversary and it was amazing even though the room was small it was still cosy and bed was so comfortable the only issue we had was that on the day we arrived we had no hot water so I had to have a cold bath but it was fine in the morning would love to stop again

    « Super »

This is a must place to stay or even just visit. Great, friendly and very professional staff. Brilliant high energy atmosphere in the bar but lovely and relaxed in the room. Beautiful building and lovely interior design.

    « Journey break »

Very good overnight stay. Staff efficient and pleasant. Breakfast outstanding - super local produce! Apart from poor extraction fan in bathroom, very good stay - comfy beds and warm radiators which on one of he coldest nights of the year, was very welcome!vernig

    « small rooms »

We found the room was small, it wasnt a standard room we payed for, the room was cold when we went in the dining room lots of people were sat with coats on the waiter said the heating was off on the timer The meal was good shame it was a shame the room was cold

« Great town centre hotel »

Excellent hotel to stay right in the heart of the town centre with the additional benefit of its own car park as well as restaurant and bar. Food is also very good so no reason to even go out of the hotel !

    « Average »

The location of the hotel was central for us and our plans for the weekend. We had a deluxe room which we found to be quite basic and cold. We were given a heater after complaining which helped warm the room but would expect a 4* hotel to check this prior to check in. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was ok......we had to advise staff to replenish the orange juice and croissants. We also had to wait five minutes for a table to be cleaned and set up prior to being seating. We had a few drinks in The Fat Badger.....again cold in there but blankets were provided on an evening.

    « Birthday treat »

This was an 80th birthday treat from my family who paid for me and my friend to stay for 2 nights food was fabulous the room was warm and very comfortable and the staff were so polite and very helpful

« Lovely hotel building. Poor dated rooms »

We booked last minute to stay here as had another hotel originally booked. When we arrived we were really impressed with the hotel from the outside. The reception, bar and restaurant are really impressive, very grand and classy looking. Unfortunately the rooms let this hotel down. Room on a slope and very dated. Bathroom/shower was old fashioned and in general quite shabby. We had a massive gap in the front door to corridor and could hear every noise. Person above awake at 5am moving around could hear every creak and movement. Such a shame as hotel is lovely. We aren't in our room very much when we go away only to sleep and get ready so we put up with it but would not recommend staying here if you like to spend time in your room or are expecting a 4* room

    « Lovely overnight stay »

We booked this hotel last minute for an overnight business stay. Got a cracking deal £39 for the night!! Staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant is outstanding. Would definitely recommend

    « Great weekend break »

Lovely hotel, well established and equipped. Gym, Spa and Hair Salon. Good location with easy walk into town. Room was at top of hotel, nice décor, but did not reflect the rooms showed in the promotional photos. Restaurant looked good, but didn't eat there (Breakfast was an extra £12.95). Fat Badger pub attached to hotel was also very good. Great selection of drinks and cocktails. Didn't try the food though. Note the £6/night parking on top. Definitely recommended and will be back.

    « Average »

Our room was supposedly a ?suite' - it was a box room with a bathroom attached. The room itself was clean and modern, however, there was very little storage space for two people, resulting in us using the ironing board as extra storage! Breakfast was average, parking expensive and room small. We won't be staying here again.

    « Brilliant proper food »

An excellent menu with excellent range of choice. The food is served in excellent time by brilliant staff. The food itself is quite frankly faultless. Simple food, cooked really well, resulting in great flavours. A great time was had by all. Will definitely recommend this restaurant and hotel to everyone wanting to stay in Harrogate.

Thank you for the great review. We are so lucky to have such a great restaurant on site with us and I'm glad to hear you found the food to your liking! We hope to see you again soon.

« A welcome display of human kindness »

I booked a stay at The White Hart for my parents at the end of 2016 for a stay in early 2017. Sadly due to family illness, we had to cancel this and reschedule it for them twice in 2017 and were finally only able to go in early 2018. Having dealt with a few 'computer says no' kind of customer service representatives in the past, it was totally refreshing and welcome to have this issue dealt with on two occasions in a humane way. When my parents finally did arrive, Fran had ensured they had a great room and they had a great stay from beginning to end. They loved the room and commented how nice it was that all the staff were so friendly. We had Sunday lunch in the pub and the food was great and the staff were first class and really friendly. We didn't have the best stay when we stayed at The White Hart in 2017 which I'll now write off as bad luck. The way this issue was dealt with in such a humane way will mean that I'd be happy to stay again at The White Hart and recommend it to others as personal human customer service is quite rare. Thank you.

    « Excellent »

Excellent can highly recommend this lovely hotel everything is lovely and clean and the room are very modern. Nothing is to much trouble. Can recommend this lovely hotel to everyone . There breakfast is lovely and everything fresh

« Pleas check what you are booking. »

I booked a stay here trough late rooms, I had checked out reviews before booked and it's seemed ok. We checked in and were given the keys to our room which was in the neighbouring property. We arrived at the room to discover it was just that ?a room' - I double checked my booking and yes it did in fact say in the small print separate bathroom (which was along a corridor from the room and would have been a dash in the small towels provided). We asked reception to change our room which they did and we were informed that our new room would be smaller. New room at last had an attached bathroom. Rooms are clean and new (in the Montpellier house) facilities are ok, nothing special. The rooms are pretty much what you would expect for a chain hotel and quite bland. Not sure if I would bother staying here again, for the money the travel lodge or a premier inn is about the quality your getting.

« RDMWH, Front Office Manager at White Hart Hotel & Apartments, responded to this review »
Thank you for your review. This is a perfect example of why it is always best to book direct with us to gain a better description of the room booked as we are limited to how a third party lists us! Not only that but it also is the best rate available to you! We do have 3 rooms in our new building Montpelier House which are superior rooms however they are a exclusive bathroom to the guest but not en suite; we do price this competitively and also try upgrade where we can. I am sorry to hear you may not stay with us again but would hope you would re consider and call us direct to discuss the best options for you! Kind Regards Fran

    « White Hart Harrogate »

Good quality rooms but most only with shower. We stayed in the appartment annex as we requested a bath. Great pub the Fat Badger attached , a little pricey but great atmosphere. Small car park for which there is a charge which I think should be free for guests, but otherwise a great hotel in an excellent location and very helpful staff.

    « A Harrogate Break »

The two night break was extremely good value as long as viewed as a base to discover Harrogate. The room didn't encourage stopping in as it was "on the small side" although very clean and well equipped. As always the addition of the Fat Badger Pub/bar was a real bonus; buzzy welcoming and well run....thanks Jaks! This was our 5 or 6th visit and there will be more!

« short stay for business »

Only writing this review because I keep getting emails asking me to do so! Nice enough room with a good view. Bath is tiny and not very clean. Biggest fault was that when we went down for breakfast we were told they had stopped serving at 9.30 (it was 9.40). When I asked where this information was available we were told 'in the lift', which we hadn't used. I pointed this out and they said it was on the sheath of the key card, which it isn't. The only mention of it is in fact on a small sheet of paper in our room amongst other sheets of paper. We were given a cold coffee and some crosissants with jam, but no cutlery. Generally seemed pretty disorganised and not particularly friendly.

« Beautiful hotel but the staff let it down »

I booked to stay here with my Niece late last year for a little shopping trip so we decided on and booked the luxury twin room. We were both quite excited just to get some quality time away and do some Christmas shopping at the same time. Firstly we checked in with no problems, they have parking facilities at the back of the hotel where you can leave your car but be warned they do charge £15 a day. The room was lovely and warm, very clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space to hang your clothes and other facilities such as an iron, hair dryer, kept etc. The bathroom was lovely & clean with etched glass windows, we didn't shower till quite late maybe about 10.30/11pm however it came to our attention the next day that the etched window wasn't as etched as we thought so for future reference for new visitors, close the blind in the bathroom! We discovered the next morning that the window was only partially etched and the rest was steam from the shower ?? We had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant and as I'm vegetarian I asked the waitress about the pasta dishes, I eventually settled on one from the recommendation of the waitress which was a mildly spiced, I did tell her I don't like spicy food but she said it was barely noticeable so I took her advice and ordered it. Big mistake, what's mild to one person obviously isn't mild to another and I took one forkful and couldn't eat anymore, I told the restaurant manager but he still charged me anyway. The next morning we went down for breakfast at the same restaurant & we got seated pretty much straight away, we patiently waited for 20 minuets before our order was taken for both food and lattes, we eventually got the coffee but it wasn't what we ordered, it was just black coffee with milk so we returned them thinking our lattes would soon follow, wrong. Cutting a very long story short we were in the restaurant for 50 minuets and had the wrong breakfast brought to us and another wrong coffee which we had to ask about but we still didn't receive our lattes or the right breakfast, disgusting. They were without doubt busy but they seemed to have plenty of staff on, one waiter didn't even come back to our table after apologising & promising he'd find out what was going on. I complained about the breakfast and also about the evening meal and after a lot of complaining I eventually got a refund for both. On the whole it didn't really spoil our trip because we just ate elsewhere but it was such a shame because the hotel was lovely and comfortable but I do feel I really don't want to return but if I ever do go back there I definitely won't be eating in the restaurant.

« Impersonal but comfy beds »

We stayed here when visiting Harrogate for a trip down memory lane. Room (207) was very clean and bed was comfy but shouldn't be classed as a double as the bed is so close to the wall on one side. The tv if you want to watch it can only be done from the bed as the sofa in the room can't be positioned to enable you to sit on it comfortably. The tea and coffee making facilities are basic, many bed and breakfasts provide much higher quality beverages and don't charge as much. The ensuite is small but has everything you need and the shower was great. The towels are large and fluffy. The breakfast was ok plenty of choice but the coffee is very poor. We had plenty to do in Harrogate so the hotel wasn't somewhere we spent a huge amount of time but if you wanted to do that I would look for an alternative. The hotel is well located and you don't need necessarily need your car as everything is within walking distance but the parking charge is very steep and had we noticed this when we booked we may have looked elsewhere. The staff are helpful but weren't the friendliest which is unusual in Harrogate.

    « Conference trip »

A brilliant hotel with fabulous service , especially from Matthew in the restaurant ,thank you for sorting 5 old ladies out xxand Jackie in the bar .Excellent food in the restaurant . We will return .

    « Wow »

I can't believe what a brilliant hotel I choose for our visit to Harrogate for a conference this hotel is just fantastic especially the staff in the restaurant especially Matthew who looked after each meal . and in the bar Chris and Jackie had to put up with our laughter and sense of humour x will be back x

    « Expensive »

I booked as it was recommended ...we had to walk outside in the rain to get to our room , not ideal ... the room was in another building up the road ... we had to pay £12 to park ! I've never paid to park in a hotel before , the girl on the front desk was also rude to me when I challenged her on th3 parking ...never again .

    « Fabulous »

We stayed here for a friends birthday and had a lovely time!the place was huge and had everything we needed!grest value for money and right in the centre of Harrogate, perfect if we needed a drink/meal downstairs in the bar/restaurant wish we could've stayed longer, would stay again and reccomend

    « Perfect stay »

Room was very big and comfortable! Wasn't expecting the room to be as nice as it was!! 100% will be booking again! Great value for the price! Great location and easy to get to! The restaurant was also very nice!

« Great hotel good location »

We booked this as a last minute post Xmas get away we wanted somewhere that was easily accessible and within walking distance of the town centre just so we could have a few lazy days. The hotel is a stone's throw from the centre making it easily accessible to shopping & entertainment. There is a great bar on site with a restaurant too and although we didn't dine in the restaurant the feedback from those who had was positive. The bar has average prices and a good vibe. The hotel itself is modern with a quirky art deco theme throughout, rooms were clean and well serviced. The only downside for us was that the walls between rooms were paper thin as we discovered when we were rudely awakened at 3am! That said I would definitely stay again but just remember my earplugs !

    « Town Centre »

First time at this hotel. Excellent room, very clean and slept reasonably well. Breakfast was good. Location easy access to Harrogate Town Centre. Parking is expensive and the spaces are very economical.

    « Excellent stay »

We have stayed here several times always in the main building but this time we stayed next door, the room was fabulous, so comfortable and extremely well appointed and very peaceful which made for a goid nights sleep.

    « christmas dinner »

Visited hotel just before Christmas 2017, with a group of colleagues. Excellent facilities and given a private dining room which was excellent. Staff were very professional and looked after us very well. Food was superb and all commented on how good meal was. Thank you

    « A review of two halves »

We stayed for one night in a deluxe double room as the hotel was really convenient for our goddaughter's 18th birthday party. We had a very nice welcome from the reception staff, who carefully explained the facilities. The room was very small but beautifully decorated. Very comfy bed and pillows (we took off the covers to check what make, as they were so super). The hotel is really centrally located - about 7 minutes' walk from the station and close to the shops. As others have noted, the back-facing rooms have terrible views: ours was of the BT OpenReach depot. We were glad to stay at the weekend as we supposed that a weekday stay could mean lots of early morning traffic movement. Our main concern, however, was the bathroom. There's a little heated towel rail in there, but no other heating - and last weekend when we woke up it showed -2 degrees on my phone's temperature reading. The hotel is heated throughout by an old radiator system, but to have no heating in the bathroom really wasn't great in the current weather conditions. (I know that's a first world problem, but given the standard of the decor etc, it was just out of kilter). The shower wasn't a power shower and had very little pressure, offering little more than a dribble of water. The temperature gauge on the shower said it was set at 38 degrees. Now that's the same as our shower at home - which runs a lot warmer so it wasn't lovely to get out of a fairly cold shower into a very cold room. There's also nowhere to put shampoo etc in the shower cubicle itself. The shower wasn't a great experience all in all. We thought the last two aspects were a real shame, given the comfort levels of the bed and the standard of decoration. Finally, breakfast is lovely - especially the sausages but we'd be very reluctant to stay in a room with a freezing bathroom over the winter months.

    « Ok »

Stayed for a night in January with my wife and found the hotel staff to be friendly and the general ambience of the place good. Our room (209) was small but well decorated however the problem was the creaky floor in the room above??! It wasn't a restful nights sleep and when I mentioned it to the receptionist in the morning she had obviously been told to give the response that it was an old building. Also went for a drink in the bar and didn't get a great negroni which was annoying. Overall an average stay, maybe it was just the one room with the creaky floor however if I had paid the full rate I would score it lower.

    « Weekend stay »

Lovley hotel didn't eat and drinks very expensive but excellent central location and very comfortable rooms would stay here again good car parking but expensive at 12 pounds a night good access and swish decor and a little health centre

    « Fabulous »

A gem of a hotel, beautiful rooms, lovely staff, really handy for shopping, great car park on site and the real jewels in the hotels crown,.... Are the staff. Who go above and beyond to make your stay a great experience.

« new years gala dinner »

We really enjoyed our stay the service was second to none and the breakfast was varied and freshly cooked to order, we found the fat badger bar attached to the hotel very friendly and priced fair. Our room was clean, modern and warm with all facilities you would need.

    « Shopping in Harrogate »

The staff were friendly we had a lovely evening meal but when we went to bed the room was very hot so we opened the window only to discover that we were above the outlet vents for the kitchen which were incredibly noisy. I felt that this could have been mentioned before we were given the room. When I mentioned it at checkout the lady said if we had complained they would have moved us. It was a shame really as we had enjoyed everything else about the stay. We also felt that charging £12 for the car park was a lot.

« 2 night stay in White Hart Hotel »

Lovely room interior (deluxe double room with shower) but very poor view overlooking the bins in the side/back lane. Excellent breakfast and good facilities & amenities in the hotel.. When booking please make sure you ask for a front facing room. Apart from that we had a lovely stay.

    « N & E York »

Stayed in a fantastic apartment. Beautiful decor, spotlessly clean. Very impressed with the whole apartment. The breakfast at the Fat Badger was very good. Excellent location 2 minuets walk into town.

    « A New Year's Delight »

We booked the New Year's package for New Year's Eve 2017. We were delighted with our Deluxe Twin Room, in the main hotel, which had all the hallmarks of having been recently refurbished to a high standard. The New Year's Eve meal was of a similar high standard, and the service was particularly good, and friendly. In fact the staff are one of the hotel's major assets. Thank you, White Hart, for making our New Year's Eve 2017 so memorable.

    « Gift Voucher disappointment! »

I paid for a gift voucher as a present for Christmas... to say I am disappointed is an understatement. The voucher arrive stuck inside the envelope with no information on the hotel or brochure . I've spoken to the hotel and they said they don't do brochures as everything is done on line and their attitude was very dismissive... I would suggest they review the voucher process and how they are sent out!!!! As now I have a very poor looking present..

« Nice but not worth the money »

Hotel is perfectly located with the added bonus of parking on site but beware it's fairly pricey and there isn't that much discount for being a hotel guest vs public parking. We stayed in the apartments in the building next door and these were new, clean and functional. Overall nothing to really say that was disappointing but also nothing that was out of the ordinary. Def not worth the hefty price tag of £200+ for the night.

    « Lovely but pricey »

Beautiful big apartment with excellent facilities and lots of character. Breakfast was very disappointing- boiled egg and soldiers and both eggs hard- toast cold and full Yorkshire breakfast ok but nothing special. Parking £12 extra wasn't clear when booking.

« Nice hotel shame about the parking charges! »

I booked a 2 night stay for what I considered a fair price for the time of year but although the information is available if you look for it, which I did not do prior to booking, I was very disappointed to discover that parking in the hotel's own car park is an extra £12 per day, payment for this was taken with the payment for the stay when we checked in. We had been upgraded from a double to a king size bed, the room was small but the decor was fresh and the bed comfortable, the bathroom looks as if it has been newly fitted and was spotless with nice toiletries and big bath towels, however there was a very distinct damp smell that was somewhat offputting! The view from the window across the green was nice and the festive lights were very pretty. The hotel is about 7 mins walk to town. We had cocktails in the pub and ate in the restaurant both of which were very good

    « Xmas works party »

Had I lovely night here. The place was lovely the food was excellent very tasty and hot also the staff were very quick at bringing and taking our food there was 20 of us and we all agreed it was good also good party atmosphere
