"Perfect stay"

5
strawbs81, birmingham 10/07/2019

This place is perfect for any business person. Check in was done fast and efficiently. I stayed in a huge room with everything you could need. The room was very quiet and bed comfortable. I must say 1st class!

"Very good but could easily be great"

4
DavidMcH92, London, United Kingdom 10/07/2019

I stayed here on business and really enjoyed it. The location is great with everything Harrogate has to offer within 10 minute walk. The room was lovely and the bed was incredibly comfy. I had a light breakfast which was very well priced £5.50 and offered plenty of choice. My only gripes were the cheap loo roll and very squeaky bathroom door which the housekeepers couldn't have missed yet chose to ignore it both times they cleaned the room. It wouldn't put me off booking again and I have already made two further bookings.

"A good hotel in an excellent location"

4
User 08/07/2019

We enjoyed our stay in a comfortable and spacious upgraded room in the building next door to the hotel but felt a little isolated from the main building even though it was only a few yards away. As there is no lounge area available in the main hotel our stay felt a bit like a stay in a self catering apartment rather than in a hotel. The only times that we used the hotel was for meals. Breakfast cooked to order was good to have.

"Nice base to explore Harrogate"

5
User 07/07/2019

The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The cleanliness standards throughout hotel were good. We ate our evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant and they were both good. Overall very enjoyable stay.

"Excellent location, room and breakfast"

4
wendykU5844TI, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom 06/07/2019

Stayed over whilst attending a local exhibition and although the hotel was undergoing renovations everything was great. The breakfast was amazing and everything freshly cooked to order and worth the wait. The bar was nice, homely and comfortable with a great outside space when the weather suits. Rooms comfortable but way too warm which is the only thing I could fault. Bathroom a good size and good shower. Would definitely stay again.

"White Hart Hotel Harrogate Apartments - excellent value"

5
Goggler, Didcot, United Kingdom 05/07/2019

I stayed with my wife and daughter at the White Hart Hotel Harrogate for a week in late June, in the Ripley Suite apartment in the Montpelier building. Great facility with spacious lounge kitchen, balcony overlooking the Esplanade, and 2 well furnished bedrooms both with en suite bath & shower. The price included daily room cleaning and bed make-up, and for a nominal extra cost full 'Yorkshire' breakfast too. The reception, restaurant and cleaning staff were polite and helpful, and really made us feel welcome. As a base for exploring Harrogate's attractions and restaurants you couldn't find anywhere better in my opinion. It is also easy to get from the hotel on to the major road network to visit North Yorkshire and its Dales, gardens and stately homes. Overall an excellent hotel facility, friendly staff and very good value for money.

"Friends wkend away"

I have just spent a perfect wkend in the Whitehart Hotel with beautiful friends. From us checking in to checking out nothing is a problem the atmosphere as you walk in just set you in the mood for your wkend. Rooms were the best ever second time we've stayed in the apartments and WOW just perfect. Breakfast is outstanding there was a party of 6 and there our table was ready and the same for the sunday. Myself and friends cannot highly recommend this hotel whether couples which iv been with my husband or girlie wkend away.

"Another great stay at this beautiful hotel"

glo35, Irvine, United Kingdom 04/07/2019

This was our Forth time we have stayed here, and even though we got a cheap Sunday rate at check in we were given a larger room, but not only that, the room was just newly renovated, it was beautiful. The staff couldn't do enough and we spent the two afternoons and evenings in the Fat Badger beer garden. Food and wine excellent. And Quiz night with Clarky. made our stay complete. One more thing...best night sleep for years zzzz.

"Lovely stay"

diane1257dc, Leyland, United Kingdom 02/07/2019

We have stayed here 3 times, twice for the Christmas markets and once in summer for a weekend away. The rooms are comfortable just a little bit too hot. You get a hearty breakfast. The staff are lovely and very helpful. We have booked to go back in November for the Christmas markets again this year.

"Another lovely stay."

5
User 02/07/2019

We have stayed before and will stay again. We stayed in the Ripley Suite which was lovely and very clean (apart from the lounge floor needed a good mop) but everywhere else including the bathrooms was spotless. The balcony in the heat was a much welcomed bonus. Obviously noisy until the V & A bar and restaurant closed about 1115pm but apart from that, we all had a good nights sleep. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Waited a while to be seated, as did everyone else we noticed and staples like butter, bread and juice needed to be requested to be replenished. I think more staff when it is so busy would be good as on a couple of occasions, we requested something then asked again but the staff had forgotten about the previous request but they were very busy. However, we all had plenty to eat. Excellent location to be able to wander around Harrogate. Reception staff very helpful and friendly.

Ideal location for the centre of Harrogate, close to Bettys and the Turkish Baths, the car park behind is a big bonus, the Fat Badger pub restaurant is excellent with good value and very tasty meals,3rd stay here

"Last minute night away"

4
User 24/06/2019

Great location with own car park (charged) and a very good restaurant with a varied selection of menu choices and wines. We stayed in Room 104 opposite end from the Fat Badger which at weekends can get quite lively.

"Good location"

5
Beth141015, Market Harborough, United Kingdom 24/06/2019

Easy to find, parking available at the back (charge made), central location and within walking distance of most places of interest. Staff friendly and very helpful, bed comfortable and facilities modern, plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent, didn't eat in the dining room in the evening, but will next time.

"Lovely stay"

User 24/06/2019

Staff were friendly and efficient. The apartment was excellent, clean and beautifully decorated. Lovely stay i would highly recommend staying here. The pub is fantastic with a great selection of beers and gins.

"Quaint but disappointing"

2
User 21/06/2019

When I booked this location I read the reviews and looked at the pictures, it seemed great. The room that I got was on the 2nd floor in the corner and was really dated. It has an unusual smell to it, the floor was creeky with every step, and there was zero sound-proofing. As a result, I heard all the people at the bar, cars go by, and the person in the next room snore - yes paper thin walls! I also wanted to get the gym/fitness center but it's basically only open 3 hours each weekday! From 6:30AM to 7:35AM and from 6:30PM to 8PM - what kind of hours are these?! The reason this is not 1 Star is because the staff was actually nice and the restaurant was good. If i was rating the restaurant by itself it would be 4/5 stars.

"Weekend break"

4
Titch1064, Leeds, United Kingdom 19/06/2019

We stayed in a cosy double for one night. It was “cosy” but fine for the one night. It had everything you needed. The room was clean and nicely refurbished. The staff are friendly and the Badger Grill serves lovely food. The location is perfect for the centre of Harrogate and I would definitely recommend a stay here.

"Just Nice"

5
User 18/06/2019

Always top notch, very welcoming, room very clean, very relaxing atmosphere around the place not just the Fat badger just general, talking of the Fat Badger the food, drink and service was excellent as always, talkative, polite without being pushy or rude.. just right

"Why would they..."

4
cuilchick, scotland 17/06/2019

Without exception, every member of staff was friendly, courteous and most welcoming. The food and drink in the Fat Badger Grill and in the bar was a good selection and everything we had was really enjoyable. Was a bit surprised that I didn't have to prove my room number for bills to be allocated to my room - meaning I could have lied and so could anyone else who fancied someone else picking up the tab. As it was, all was fine. The rooms...we initially were given 2 tired, shabby, cramped rooms on the 3rd floor...saggy bed, mouldy shower-curtain (!!), low ceiling, unpleasant smell. Of course we complained and were moved to 2 normal rooms on 1st floor (above the bins, but hey...). That was the bit that disappointed. It's the 2nd time I've visited and they tried that nasty-room thing last time too. The breakfast coffee and cooked items were extremely good. However, the only fresh cut fruit was watermelon. Uncut fruit: pear and granny-smith (no banana) were too hard. Bread was generic sliced. Would I come back? Yes, because if you can get past the room-trick (and can park in the cramped carpark), it's a fun place. I'd like to have had time to try out what looks like a comprehensive beauty side. Again: well done the staff, they were great.

"Last minute decision"

jojo7576, Basildon 16/06/2019

We arrived in Harrogate not intending to stay, but decided once there it would be a good opportunity, We called the White Hart Hotel, and luckily they had a room that could accommodate a Z bed for the 14 year old groaner with us, The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. We had some use of a bathroom but it was not linked to the room, It was slightly down from our room, but this was not a real problem, just slightly awkward. Thank you,

"Nice Hotel"

User 14/06/2019

Hotel was clean, bed was comfortable, I found that the staff were very friendly and helpful.. The WIFI was disappointing. Great price though.Breakfast was fine. Didn't experience dinner and also got back too late for the bar.

Standard good however we were put into the annex which was disappointing for two lady’s on their own and quite isolating. Also got very wet going from annex to hotel. Room was fine .Hotel was comfortable and good location . Breakfast was good. Let down by not having any tourist information in room and no Instructions for tv or heating.

We really enjoyed our stay at the apartments. The bedrooms were spotless and beautifully decorated. We really enjoyed spending time in the large communal areas. We will definitely be using the white hart apartments again!

Room 312 was a good enough room with an adjoining seated area. The lighting was not very good. The bathroom was very small & dark. The shower was terrible, no pressure. The on site restaurant is excellent and the location is really good.

"Wonderful stay at The White Hart Hotel in Harrogate"

5
Tammy T, Ocean Springs, Mississippi 07/06/2019

We were wonderfully surprised when our group's rooms were upgraded to the Ripley Suite. Both bedroom suites and common living areas were lovely, clean, modern and very comfortable. We also enjoyed eating at The Fat Badger in both the dining room and pub areas. Also, the hotel was located in a really nice area of Harrogate and within walking distance to popular sites such as Bettys, Valley Gardens, shopping areas, and the train station. Overall we were greatly impressed and will happily refer your hotel to any family or friends who may travel to the Harrogate area in the future.

"Fantastic staff"

5
User 29/05/2019

The 5 star review is based on the contact with the staff at theWhite Hart, from the person who took my phone Booking, the check in staff and the bar and waiting staff (including a trainee) to the person who was cleaning the rooms in Montpellier House....all them were polite, thoughtful and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet (which we asked for, great to have an iron and ironing board and lovely, large bathroom. The staff at the hotel made the stay memorable and we will stay again next time we are in Harrogate.

"Perfectly situated"

User 24/05/2019

We stayed in the adjacent apartments 3 couples and a baby. it could not have been better we felt very at home recently refurbished and very comfortable. Each room had its own TV and tea coffee making facilities then a large family kitchen dining area. I would recommend this for couples or families.

"One night stay on Business"

5
Paul B, Birmingham, United Kingdom 22/05/2019

Apparently 'upgraded' and stayed in room 462 (Slingsby Suite). It was lovely and new and the room was ideal for my purposes - a one night stay on business. I would say that this room would be a squeeze for a couple if staying more that one or two nights - there is no wardrobe and very limited hanging space and just a single seat. I didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but the bar was busy and looks great. Breakfast was very good. It would be better if the £12 car parking fee was an option whilst booking rather than it being a surprise when checking in. I will stay again.

"Happy time in HArrogate"

4
miketodd40, Guisborough, United Kingdom 22/05/2019

A very enjoyable stay. Our room was in the next building which was fine as the weather was warm and dry so walking back out of the hotel wasn't an issue. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The only issue was the noise from the next door room's TV. This wasn't because it was particularly loud but more the fact it was on the wall of their room that was behind our bed, basically making our room a sound box for it! A more sympathetic placing of the TV would help. Otherwise a pleasant stay and the hotel is well placed for the town itself.

"Birthday night away"

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location . Very central to everywhere we needed to be and the car park was such a plus to be able to park your car when staying at the hotel. We will defiantly be returning again . Thank you

"Cosy hotel"

User 21/05/2019

Stylish, clean and cosy rooms. Great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and great food. Lovely breakfast with good service (but stingy on the baked beans though!) Helpful & friendly service within the hotel. Brilliant location to stay to enjoy the heart of Harrogate

"Let down by the mattress...."

4
MrMarkBennett, Northampton, United Kingdom 16/05/2019

We had a Friday night stay here in a standard double room. With views onto the Hotels statue of a Hart and park beyond the room itself was nice and fresh with a huge walk-in shower in the decent sized en-suite. The staff were very welcoming and sorted the convenient on site parking charge for our stay. With the current building works in progress the lift was out of action but being on the first floor this wasnt a problem and we were offered help with our bags had we needed it. We came and went whilst we explored Harrogate and enjoyed the in house Fat Badger Bar for a night cap before going to bed on a very cheap feeling spongy mattress which led to a poor nights sleep. Thankfully breakfast made up for it which was excellent and covered all bases. We would happily stay here again as it offered good value for money but I would need to check the mattress first hence the reduction from 5 to 4 stars.

"Family Wedding"

User 15/05/2019

Everything was better than expected and the staff couldn't do enough. I hope to make a return trip. The food was fabulous, the room was a good size, the bar area was very pleasant and there were lots of different areas to sit and relax. Very close to all amenities and Bettys Tearoom was only 5 minutes away - bonus!

"Nice hotel, lovely pub but too small rooms"

3
Helen1587763, Rossendale, United Kingdom 13/05/2019

Really nice hotel in good location and The Fat Badger pub is a great extra but the rooms are too small . Our room overlooked the front which was nice and it was nicely decorated although a bit sparse but it was definitely not a double room. They need to put a single bed in and call it a compact single room . We were there for two nights and it was really difficult to unpack. I moved the slim dining room style chair from infront of the mirror it was blocking and put it in front of the door which we had to move back to leave the room as there was no where else for it to go. Only one person could walk sideways round the bed at once. I had to leave all our clothes in the suitcase except those I could hang in the tiny wardrobe which made it uncomfortable to be in the room. Such a shame but we have stayed in many of the other hotels in Harrogate and all have had a much more reasonable size. I did mention our room was too small when we checked out but I was told that was the size of all the double rooms and in fact we had got one of the best ones and we had a front view. On that basis we wouldn't stay again and I was a little disappointed we were then still charged for car parking. It would have been nice to acknowledge our disappointment at least with a complimentary car park as the rooms are not cheap at £100 room only for one night to have been disappointed.

"Would stay again"

Nice looking building on arrival. 2 storey car park, was spaces but full and tight if parked on lower floor. Also expensive rates. Nice receptionist and very nice rooms. Spacious and contain everything required. Nice bar area with outdoor seating and good choice of drinks

"Absolutely fantastic"

cleach1975, Manchester, United Kingdom 12/05/2019

We have just come back from a one night stay at this hotel and I can't recommend it enough. It was a special birthday celebration for our friend and the staff really do go above and beyond. We stayed in two of the apartment rooms which were spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We paid for a private cocktail making class which was put on for us in the lounge area of the apartments. Kerion did the class and was professional, friendly and knowledgeable and made the class really enjoyable. Lucy was helpful and friendly from the first enquiry and fran was amazing with all her help in keeping secrets from our friend to help make her day special. It's amazing value for money and every member of staff is polite and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Simply stunning

We stopped here on Good Friday,1st visit to this hotel. Room was slightly small, but very clean. Tea and coffee facilties was available. Bathroom was ok size, plenty of towels etc. We did not opt for breakfast, but for the price I paid I would recommend this hotel

"Good stay"

Stayed here with the mother in law and took the hubby the rooms were clean and had everything you would need . Breakfast was good and the seating area was lovely for the evening meal as well . The bar was trendy and the staff were friendly who we met through out the hotel we would stay again and the mother in law enjoyed as well which makes it a bonus for us !

"Great little break. "

4
User 06/05/2019

Location is great. Easy to find. Car parking available and not too expensive. Easy to walk around Harrogate from the hotel. Check in was straight forward. Room was fab. Fat Badger pub is great: fab atmosphere and good food menu. Bit noisy one morning when a vehicle parked right by the window and left engine running for ages. And chefs left a little early one evening so we couldn't get a late bar snack. Otherwise a wonderful break.

"Exceptional "

5
wvlmstuart, manchester 06/05/2019

We've stayed in a few hotels in Harrogate and found the white hart hotel to be the best by far. With its perfect location in the heart of the town with the added benefit of on site parking which is ideal, as we have struggled to park the last few times in Harrogate. The building itself is beautiful. The bar and restaurant are excellent. The bar offers bar meals at a very reasonable price. The bar was quite busy later on in the day but had a good vibe & atmosphere. They have a great outside seating area also. We ate in the ‘fat badger' restaurant in the evening. The menu had a good varied choice, food was delicious. Staff were very friendly, polite & professional in the bar, restaurant and upon check in. The hotel and rooms are very clean and well decorated to a high standard. We stayed in cosy double, lovely & clean. Slept very well indeed. The breakfast was also made fresh to your order with good ingredients There is also a large selection of fresh fruits and yogurts plus savouries to choose from great value for money. All in all from the staff to the quirky bar this is an exceptional place to stay in Harrogate, and will definitely be returning.

"Good location but pricey considering room size"

3
Speds83, Wakefield, United Kingdom 03/05/2019

An OK hotel with a good location. The reception area was really nice and inviting. The room was clean but exceptionally small. No space down one side of the bed and very little at the other. It was more a Premier Inn standard (with a few toiletries thrown in) I'm afraid. The staff at the Fat Badger were superb as always. The check in and out ladies were very helpful. The Night Manager not so much when I needed something. Breakfast was nice with lots of choice but the full cooked breakfast was small. Considering the price of the hotel I think the £12 parking is a little steep also. I don't think we'll be back unfortunately.

"Good overnight stay"

JoG1973, Redcar 25/04/2019

Lovely big room, easy and speedy check in and out. Friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Free wi-fi and 10% off drinks at the Fat Badger. Overall a very pleasant stay would definitely stay here again.

"Nice hotel"

Me2013, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom 24/04/2019

Lovely staff and hotel is beautiful also the rooms next door are also as spacious with large ceilings.. The Bar in hotel has the most amazing cocktails and food. Room service could improve but overall I love the area and the hotel grounds.

"Comfortable bed and badly designed bathroom"

3
ArgentineTango, South East 24/04/2019

I had an interesting stay at the White Hart. The check in was efficient. I was in the annex which is a short walk from the main building. The room was spacious and well designed with a very comfortable bed. The WiFi could have been better as it kept dropping and wasn't very strong. I slept well and the room was very quiet. The bathroom however was really badly designed. It took forever for the taps to produce hot water in the basin. The shower was designed with a floor level, very flat tray. This had the consequence that despite having really bad water pressure, the shower almost always flooded the bathroom because the tray was too shallow to contain the water. I think this is a design flaw. I would also think that a deeper shower tray and better water pressure would improve the experience. I stayed room only and did not try the breakfast. The restaurant looked very nice and seemed popular. Accordingly while there was nothing wrong with my night's sleep, I would not stay here again because of the bathroom problems. Having to paddle through an inch of water to the sink is not much fun.

"Aesthetically pleasing"

4
Marvmim, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom 23/04/2019

The hotel looks lovely from the outside, the rooms are really nice and decorated well. Location is perfect. A bit annoying that you have to pay £12 for a days parking! And we could hear a lot of noise from the surrounding rooms, next to us and above, banging, talking and squeeking floorboards. But all in all it was a nice stay.

"Central hotel with car parking"

5
User 22/04/2019

Stayed here over Easter and would highly recommend. The hotel was lovely and clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Everything you need in your room, including iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Very spacious rooms and hug bed! The hotel has its own car park (chargeable) which is a bonus. Centrally located. Can't wait to stay again.

"Gorgeous Hotel "

sgeeggg, Harrogate, United Kingdom 17/04/2019

Me and my Fiancé love this hotel and when travelling for my work we have often booked this hotel. We have always found the hotel very clean and accommodating. We have never had any issues with the food it has always been up to scratch however sometimes the breakfast can be hit and miss as you order cooked items via table service this is good but it's limited and often eggs can be very undercooked. Last time we stayed we found our bedroom door wouldn't shut properly with the door mechanism it's self not holding the weight of the door and without realising we was walking off shutting the door not realising it was then coming open which we wasn't to know as it wasn't a fault with our room key cards it was the door its self. Please make sure you always very firmly shut the door or slam it as such as we would hate someone else to experience it. After we spoke to reception they sent someone up to fix this. The room is always filled with loverly condiments of Harrogate spa water and a large selection of teas, coffee's, biscuits etc which is brilliant we can't fault it.

"I would not return"

Sarah87-Hull, Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom 17/04/2019

I have recently stayed at this hotel for one night and I was left feeling very disappointed. Positives: the room was clean, pub food was great and the breakfast was lovely. Negatives: the room was located on the first floor above the gym. We were not made aware of this upon check in and we were woken at 5:50am to the sound of loud music and banging from the equipment! Unacceptable when you have not been informed of this issue. I would have liked to have been given a choice to move rooms or stay at a different hotel. I believe all guests should be made aware of this and therefore I am writing this review as the hotel don't do this. I don't give unfair feedback on any reviews. There is currently building work going on at the hotel which isn't a problem. However, I am unaware if this created a problem for no storage space. Room toiletries and other various items were stored under sitting spaces in the corridors and left very untidy. A single fold up bed was also left out all night and morning. I would normally look past these small issues but due to the extremely early morning noise I found myself criticising everything that isn't good enough from a £100 a night hotel. I would recommend to stay in a different hotel or if you plan to stay here regardless I suggest to request a room away from the gym.

Love staying at this hotel, would not stay anywhere else in Harrogate. Staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are immaculate and very clean. Food is delicious in the restaurant.

"We will be back."

User 13/04/2019

Charming people on Reception match the rest of the hotel. We stayed in a serviced apartment next door which was very comfortable and relaxing. If the only negative comment I can think of is the lack of an oven glove then you can tell we had a great time. I have found Harrogate to be a terrific destination and The White Hart could not be in a better location.

"Beautiful hotel"

User 13/04/2019

We decided to ad an extra day on to our trip in Yorkshire and found this hotel on laterooms.com and we were amazed at what we got for the price! Our room was small but perfectly arranged for practicality and function, the staff were lovely and the hotel was gorgeous. We had drinks in the bar and delicious food at the restaurant. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the Harrogate area

"An excellent hotel in an excellent location"

A very comfortable and well located hotel. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, reception, restaurant and housekeeping. the evening meal we had was excellent and reasonably priced. The room and the bathroom were spacious, well fitted out and spotlessly clean. The second time we have stayed here and we will be back in the future.

Love this hotel. We hve stayed here on numerous occasions and it doesn't fail to deliver. The rooms are stylish clean and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. We are never disappointed. We have stayed in nearby hotels and this has high standards without the pricey rates. We will always choose this over other hotels in the area. The bar attached to it "the fat badger " is also an excellent bar with great friendly staff and fab food .

A beautifully positioned hotel in the centre of Harrogate. We had breakfasts and one dinner served in the very pretty dining room. Both were very good. We particularly liked the badger bar with its friendly staff. There is some refurbishment happening at the moment but we didn't find it intrusive.

1st time we have stayed in a Best Western Hotel, if they are all as good as The White Hart in Harrogate, we will be using them more. Cheerful, smart and helpful staff. Excellent food, clean Room. Right in the middle of Harrogate, with car park.

Excellent stay. Perfect location. Clean, lovely Hotel. This Hotel is set in the centre of Harrogate, with everything within walking distance. Hotel and Rooms lovely and clean. Shower did not have much water pressure. Friendly Staff. Continental Breakfast could include Cheese and Meats like most breakfasts, but this was not a problem. Choice of full breakfast if required.

Was upgraded free of charge to a lovely suite. Very comfortable beds, large clean room, friendly staff, and a great cooked breakfast. A shame parking wasn't free, but at least the carpark is secure. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed for 1 night on business and the food and room was of a very high standard. Would happily stay again. They have parking on site and their Bar / Restaurant. Recommend the Full English breakfast. Currently being refurbished during the day.

"Excellent central location"

4
User 29/03/2019

Have used the apartments a couple of times now, they are spotlessly clean, in a great central location, and the parking is reliable (for an extra £12 a day): The hotel restaurant and pub are worth a visit. Facilities limited for those wishing to self cater.

"Good but not without problems"

AlanW47254, Oswestry, United Kingdom 29/03/2019

I was not very impressed with the restaurant. There were problems when my party had dinner on one night of our stay and I felt that breakfast was definitely not up to the standard I would expect at the normal price. However the staff outside of the restaurant were both friendly and helpful. In the bar we were served by friendly staff who made us feel welcome. When we highlighted an issue with one of our rooms to the staff on reception it was taken seriously and immediately resolved by offering us another room. I do not feel that it could have been dealt with any better and it certainly salvaged the remainder of our stay. Thank you I did not notice, at the time of booking, any notification that there were building works taking place. That would have been helpful. Additionally, our original room was badly affected by noise from the kitchen ventilation system, although this was resolved by offering us a different room.

My second visit to this lovely and very comfortable hotel. I was sharing a room with a colleague and we were delighted to get the same twin bedded room (106) that we stayed in last year. The room was spotlessly clean (as was the bathroom) with very comfortable beds and lovely pillows. Plenty of hot water and a powerful shower too AND bathtowels that were big enough to fold around you. We checked in, having parked our car on the car park and we did know about the £12 charge and it is a reasonable charge too, particularly as the hotel is so centrally located. We retired to the Fat Badger bar for a very good cocktail from a very plentiful list - guests receive 10% off their first round of drinks. We found the drink prices to be extremely reasonable compared to “down south”. The bar was extremely busy, which was nice as it was a “buzzy” atmosphere, but it was difficult to find a seat. We were fortunate enough to find a couple of seats fairly quickly and soaked up the atmosphere. We would have eaten there too, but it was so busy, we realised that it would probably take ages to get something to eat, so we ate out on our first night. We ate in on our second night - a Sunday and we were very relieved that we could still order food up until 9pm. We had a great Sunday Menu two courses and some very nice red wine. My only negative comment was that the room was so HOT but we turned off the radiator and opened the window and it cooled down eventually. We would definitely stay here again, but would probably phone ahead to ask them to turn the radiators off before arrival. We didn't eat breakfast here (so many other places to try in Harrogate) but we did have breakfast here when we stayed in 2018 and it was very good with plenty of choice. There is complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate with biscuits in the room. Well done White Hart. Your accommodation is great and your staff are, in the main, helpful and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend for a business trip.

Stayed for 2 nights.Could understand four poster bed room. Small but clean.Bed had wooden slants down the side making it uncomfortable. No fridge. So no fresh milk. Staff friendly. But my husband was struck in the lift for a good twenty minutes.Along with another couple who were very panicking. There was no apology from the staff at all. No water in the room. My husband was ill.But I was refused sandwiches in the room.So room service poor. Have to say the food in restaurant was good. Hotel very central for Harrogate. As other people have mentioned £12 for car park per night seemed a bit steep.

"Fantastic place to stay"

We stayed at the White Heart over night as part of our end to a weekend in Yorkshire visiting family. We have fallen in love with Harrogate and the White Heart hotel we really loved. Very clean, friendly staff and fantastic food in their onsite restaurant. The Fat Badger bar was so cosy and had a lovely ambience, we will definitely be back for another visit and would highly recommend a stay here. Thank you to all the staff.

"Great last minute overnight stay"

HolidayMadW, Glasgow, United Kingdom 20/03/2019

Room appeared to have been recently renovated. Room had a four poster bed and while this seemed strange, as the frame protruded at the sides, the bed was very comfortable with a great mattress. Didn't eat there but had a drink in the bar which was also nice. Would have no hesitation in staying again.

"Great Location"

4
User 20/03/2019

Great location in the middle of Harrogate with easy walking distance to local attractions and shops / bars. Room wasn't very big but suffice. Room was clean and hotel décor was nice throughout. Only complaints was that the curtains didn't fully cover the window so when it got light outside it woke you up. Only other issue was with the extractor fan in the bathroom which didn't work. Overall still a good experience and would probably stay again and recommend to friends.

We had a superior room in the building just up the road which was very nice apart from noise issues you can even hear conversations from next room !! Would be a nice touch to provide bottled water ? Bed was very comfy and huge slept very well apart fom noise from other guests which could not be avoided

Stayed in many Harrogate hotels, but this is the best so far Large newly decorated bedroom, friendly staff, great breakfast, Fat Badger bar (part of the hotel) was lively and sold a good selection of beers. Plus hotel is centrally situated.

My Family and I spent the weekend in Harrogate for my sister in laws 60th Birthday I arranged with the White Hart a surprise meal there for her and the family in the restaurant We could not of been looked after any better They looked after us brilliantly and we could not of asked for a more special night The food and the staff are excellent Thank you White Hart x

Thank you for such a pleasant review. It is great to hear the surprise worked out well and we provided the best service for your sister's birthday. We do hope you return and celebrate more occasions with us. Kind Regards Fran

"Excellent room and service"

John B, Blackpool, United Kingdom 15/03/2019

Excellent room and service. I did not find anything exceptional on the menu (we ate in the hotel on all 4 nights of our stay) at the best I would rate the quality of the food produced as just above average. Certainly when we stay here again (which we will) we will be dining out more often. As I said the room was excellent, nice and roomy and with the requested 2 armchairs. All the staff we spoke to were pleasant and helpful.

"Excellent Hotel"

Jan81, UK 15/03/2019

The White Hart is very centrally located. Our room was in a Annexe which made it quiet and it was very clean and comfortable. Receptionists could have been a bit friendlier but it wasn't an issue. Breakfasts were fine but I would like to have been offered a wider choice of fresh fruit. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it. The price we ended up paying was comparable with a budget chain but the White Hart is far supsrior.

"Short break in Harrogate"

BIGJON1, Dronfield, United Kingdom 14/03/2019

The hotel is in an excellent location. Close to shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, Betty's tea room, Turkish baths etc. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean and spacious for a small double. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room much appreciated. Room comfortable and quiet. Very nice hot shower. Didn't eat in the hotel but The Fat Badger was very welcoming. Overall really enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend

"Great Selection of Food"

Visited with 5 others. We all chose a different meal and were very satisfied with the presentation and quality. Service was excellent. The restaurant is spacious and well decorated. The only downside was that the portions of food was small.

"One of the best Harrogate hotels"

We've stayed at numerous hotels in Harrogate, but this is by far the best. Great breakfast, friendly staff, nice popular bar and centrally located. Bedroom looked recently decorated, and bar and restaurant areas were immaculate. Will definitely return

"Valentines escape "

YorkRam, York, United Kingdom 07/03/2019

This our favourite escape! Beautiful hotel and very reasonably priced. Great location for walking to Harrogate's countless bars and restaurants. Voucher for first drinks in the Hotels very own ‘fat badger' pub are also a nice touch. On site parking for a small fee is also useful. Would recommend paying slightly more for the deluxe double room for added comfort.

HJW0811, Leeds, United Kingdom 04/03/2019

We had a good time when I stayed here overnight or Saturday night. We had 2 twin rooms. The hotel rooms were a ok but the beds are in need of a revamp - mattresses pretty lumpy. The room was clean. The bathroom is a bit basic and smells damp. The shower in one room was not powerful. The room was quiet enough. The breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed the bar on the Saturday evening, reasonably priced with a good atmosphere and great selection of drinks. The staff were very nice and we appreciated the hotel parking.

"Worth a stay but few areas let it down"

Alison M, Bexleyheath, null, United Kingdom 04/03/2019

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. Overall a good stay, room was nice, check in easy and loved the pub downstairs. Few things stopped it being 4/5 stars for me - We ate in the restaurant Friday night and after requesting the bill waited 25 mins to be able to pay even though it was virtually empty as they seemed to have forgotten we were there. Also breakfast Sunday morning my sausages were so hard I couldn't cut into them let alone eat them and no-one came to see if our meal was ok, disappointing. Staff in the pub were an asset though and knowledgeable about the wide selection of gins on offer. Location is it's biggest selling point.

"Overnight Stay"

4
Bpm1976, Peterborough (England) 26/02/2019

We had an overnight stay whilst visiting Harrogate for a theatre break. Having never been to Harrogate before, I was primarily led to this property based on location, price and reviews. The location was spot on and meant we could park the car up for the weekend. The Hotel appeared very popular with non-residents also which was a good sign. Check in was straight forward and our room was pretty much what we expected. It was clean, warm and reasonably decorated. We used the bar a couple of times which is a real asset, great choice of beers and a friendly bunch of bar staff. In fact everyone we encountered at the hotel was positive and friendly.

"Nice hotel, great location! "

PhillipaD, Durham, United Kingdom 23/02/2019

We booked a double room (room only), we got a really cheap deal and room was good value for money. The room was quite small but nicely decorated with a comfy bed and good bathroom but the room was very warm (strange in February...wouldn't like to stay in summer as I think it would be unbearable). The location of the hotel is excellent for shops, bars and restaurants! Check in was fine although, could have been more informative, they didn't tell us what time to check out or what to do with regards to car parking. Check out was slow, receptionist was taking a reservation and there was no other staff available to check us out, took about 5 minutes, a small thing really. During the week breakfast finishes at 9.30 so we gave it a miss and went to Hoxton North (pretty much next door) after we'd checked out and it was lovely! Overall, our stay was fine and the hotel served its purpose for a night out in town.

Overnight stay last night for our anniversary was good but not great. We paid premium rate of £126 b&b but sadly did not feel our experience to be as good as it could have been. The positives were location of the hotel and the bed was super comfy with luxurious linens and fluffy towels. The H2k toiletries added an extra touch too, however the room was billed as a superior deluxe and kinda felt a bit ordinary. The room was uncomfortably hot even with radiators turned off and 2 windows open , no air conditioning so despite the lovely bed and sheets we didn't sleep too good. Breakfast finishes at 10am and check out at 11 which is way too early, most other hotels I've stayed usually give more time especially on a Sunday. Breakfast was served made to order but my full English arrived with stone cold poached egg and mushroom and the rest only Luke warm. I tried to catch one of the several dining room staff who were far more occupied with resetting tables for me to speak to. I had to take my plate over to the front of house guy to ask him to replace my breakfast. Several of the items on the cold table had run out and not been replenished so I watched my husband eat his breakfast whilst I waited for mine. Although the waiter apologised and brought the re-heated same breakfast it ruined the special anniversary breakfast I had envisaged with my husband .

"Lovely stay"

ge0rgia0wen, Leeds, United Kingdom 13/02/2019

Stayed over for a night, receptionist was lovely and kind, explained everything properly. Small double room was a decent size, bathroom as well. Both were clean as a whistle, bed was comfy. Tea coffee biscuits provided etc. Only problem being the shower itself, water was pulsing and pressure was absolutely rubbish. Other than that, nice hotel :)

"Perfect accommodation"

User 13/02/2019

Where do I start ? From welcoming staff to perfect accommodation , excellent bar and restaurant and scrumptious breakfast. We came to Harrogate for a girls night away , booked online and chose here from the pictures. ( normally best pics online and then your disappointed ) , this apartment was better than the pics we saw . Modern and most of all CLEAN . We booked into the Fat Badger restaurant for later in the day so we could have a look around the town . Only thing that spoilt it was tha rain . Still had a nice coffee and cake at Mamma Doreen's and cocktails at Revolution de Cuba . Meal was lovely and priced right for what you got . We're looking to make this hotel an annual event now .

We just recently stayed at the hotel for one night and as ever we had a lovely time. The room was nice, clean and warm. Everything you needed was provided. A great warm welcome from the reception staff on arrival. The food and drink served at the Fat Badger bar was excellent. Service was amazing. nothing too much trouble for them. We dined in the restaurant on the Saturday evening and ambiance was delightful. Now the food I had was delicious, but my husband opted for the Shepherds pie, which unfortunately was very dry and tasteless. We did let the waitress know, but that was it. No response what so ever, so a little disappointed that there was no feed back from the kitchen, but apart from that a lovely weekend we had. This will not put us off returning to the Whitehart Hotel

"Absolutely amazing place to eat"

5
Wendbrooks, Manchester, United Kingdom 05/02/2019

What a beautiful restaurant and bar especially near Christmas time it was stunning, we came here to have a meal and drinks in the restaurant and I'm so glad we did as our meal was delicious. We had the Chateaubraind for two people and it was the best steak we've ever had it was superb couldn't fault any of it definitely worth the money. The drinks were also great served by lovely friendly staff. I would definitely recommend to anyone and eat here again. Can't comment on the hotel or room side of it as we didn't stay here but it's a really lovely building and in a great location in the centre of Harrogate also with a nice outdoor seating area I would imagine it'd be lovely in the summer to sit outside with drinks.

"Excellent Hotel, ideally placed."

Good location with a large car part, Nice room, good facilities, excellent staff, bar food was excellent. If you enjoy a Gin, this is the place to be in Harrogate. The bar is very popular and does get very busy from early afternoon onwards, particularly at the weekends.

Thank you for your lovely review and comments. Our Badger Pub on site is amazing and our gin shelf is busting with a range of gins. We do hope you return and book direct for the best rate. Kind Regards Fran

User 30/01/2019

The accommodation and facilities are superb. The only reason this is not a 5 star rating is the fact that when we originally booked, the price was £69, a few days later it was £59, so we cancelled and re booked. On arrival I received a notification from booking.com that the same room was £44. There was even a couple in front paying that price, so I can't be completely happy knowing we paid over 30% more for our room.

WHRDM, Front Office Manager at White Hart Hotel & Apartments, responded to this review
Thank you for your review and comments. Firstly I must say always book direct, it gives the best cancellation policy and also the best rate. In regards to the rate. Our rates do vary dependant on availability and competition and can also increase. In respect to the £44 this was for a small room and you booked a standard therefore the rate you gained was the best rate online as discussed if you booked direct you would have gained 10% off the rate. We do hope you return and book direct. Kind Regards Fran

"Staff issues"

steve m, newcsatle 29/01/2019

Stayed at the hotel 26/27 January 2019. Hotel is nice enough but having read the reviews prior to booking I was a little disappointed. The staff have a cold bordering on aloof attitude which I found puzzling. I would have been happy to park that other than the housekeeping issue we encountered on the Sunday!! Having had breakfast which is a definite plus for the hotel we returned to our 321 leaving to go into harrogate to do shopping/coffee etc. On leaving the room at 10 45 a member of the housekeeping staff was almost directly outside our door and my wife said to her in a friendly jovial manner" it's all yours " as she hang the clean the room sign on the door!! The woman barely acknowledged us and never even said good morning. We returned to the hotel at 2pm to find the same woman still on our corridor the sign still on the door and the room not serviced!! It was our intention to go back out again at 4pm for drinks and food so obviously we needed showered etc. My wife asked the woman if she'd like to do the room now so we could get ready without interruption to which she replied curtly " NO" We were forced to place the do not disturb sign back on the door and our room wasn't serviced! On leaving at about 3 50 there was a black bin bag outside the door containing towels, tea coffee products toiletries and a toilet roll!' How nice!! Very poor service !! Travel to Harrogate every year in January staying at the CRown, Yorkshire hotel, Majestic, Crowne plaza and many b & b s all infinitely more friendly and customer service aware!! Won't be rushing back!

WHRDM, Front Office Manager at White Hart Hotel & Apartments, responded to this review
Thank you for your review and comments. It is sad to hear you were not 100% happy. Our housekeeping team do a Stirling job and work very hard. I do believe you may have spoken to one of team members who is from overseas and therefore does have limited English which they are constantly learning to improve. I am sorry if this came across as rude however we do employ a diverse work force. Of course if you were unhappy with the response and had contacted reception we would have ensured the room was serviced. We will speak to the team member to ensure the importance of cleaning the rooms for stay overs earlier and improve communication however this would have not been intentional. We do hope you return. Kind Regards Fran

We had an excellent stay from check-in to check-out. The suite was comfortable and roomy for 2 adults and a child. We enjoyed a drink in the bar, breakfast was delicious (my son enjoyed the toaster!) and the central location was perfect for exploring Harrogate.

Booked a standard double at the white Hart for a Friday and Saturday night . The hotel it's self is set in a brilliant location in the centre of Harrogate . The staff were friendly and tried to accomadate us as best they could. The room was clean but we has had to change due to the size of the standard room . It was tiny !! barely enough room for 2 people to even walk past each other . We changed lucky enough and there were other people trying to do the same . pro's : great location , pretty hotel , great bar and restaurant and staff were friendly . con's : size of a standard room . car park is small and awkward, cost of car park . breakfast is £10 per person if pre booked car park is £12 per day . so if your both having breakfast and you use the car park for the weekend , expect a £64 bill at the end. we would probably use this hotel again knowing what we know now .

Thank you for your review and comments. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed the location and the team looked after you well. I am sorry if you found the room a little small; the rooms do vary in size due to the character of the building and pleased we were able to move you to an alternative room. Our car park is competitively priced and guests can leave their cars for 24 hours and we are lucky to have a car park on site due to our amazing location. I do hope you return and call us direct to book to ensure you request one of our front facing rooms. Kind Regards Fran

"Check your billing carefully!!"

BarnacleScotland, Scotland 19/01/2019

My wife and I spent two nights at the White Hart room 312 16 & 17th January 2019. The accommodation was splendid as were most of the staff and I would recommend this hotel. My issue was with the receptionist on duty at 10 am on Friday morning when we checked out. Have no idea of her name but she obviously didn't enjoy her job. This unsmiling miserable creature charged us for car parking (we had travelled to Harrogate by rail so no car) and wine that we did not have. When challenged (politely) about these errors we were informed that the hotel just presumes you would have a car and add the costs to your bill. Funny how billing errors always benefit the house. Any way, and needless to say no apology. Without all this billing nonsense I would have given this hotel five stars. Happy smiley professional receptionists are vital as a first and last point of contact in a hotel of this quality so it is such a shame that our visit was tainted unhappy and untrained member of staff. Having said all this we would stay here again. But ladies and gentlemen...........check your bill for 'presumed' unwarranted and spurious charges. Bill & Edwina Scollay.

WHRDM, Front Office Manager at White Hart Hotel & Apartments, responded to this review
Thank you for your review and comments. It is great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us overall. It is upsetting to hear that you have decided to insult one of our team members. Our reception staff work hard to look after guests and in no means should be referred to as "creatures". The error was an error and these can happen. We provide guests with full breakdown of bills if requested and of course if an error occurs we will rectify this. I am sure the team member was sorry and I will speak to the team to ensure they make there apology extremely clear to guests for a system error and sorry if you did not receive this at the time. We do hope you return and book direct for the best rate. Kind Regards Fran

"Noisy Wake Up Call"

NathanGi89, Sunderland, United Kingdom 13/01/2019

Firstly I would like to say about the positive things about the hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The Bar is worth a visit, my partner and I had the espresso martini which didn't disappoint. Breakfast in the morning was decent too. Now the negative parts. The room we had (Room 114) was, as it seemed, directly above the Gym, which at 0600 was blasting music and extremely noisy. This barrage of noise didn't really stop throughout the morning so we just got up and had Breakfast. This really spoilt our stay and I would not stay at this Hotel again. Also £12 to park overnight is a lot to ask for guests who have already paid to stay at the hotel.

Thank you for your review and comments. I do believe we have been in direct contact and it is upsetting to read you still feel the need to review us when this matter has been dealt with directly. We do believe our car parking is competitive and guests have a full 24 hour use of this. I sorry that the gym disturbed you and this is out of character to be so early. Kind Regards Fran

"Totally Amazing"

We booked late yesterday and I mention I had been ill for 12 weeks with a flu like bug. The receptionist was so helpful on the phone and happily provided us details of the rooms they had. When we arrived the Receptionist said she had checked the room for me to ensure the radiators were turned on so I shouldn't be cold and then showed my partner the other choice of room for future reference. It was about 1/2 hour after arriving that I suddenly spiked a high 39 degs temp and high pulse. I called 111 who sent a car and an ambulance who took me hospital. Anyway I was discharged after an a few hours but felt very rough. This morning I had breakfast in bed and the food was incredible. The room was lovely and modern and very clean. The receptionist was so helpful in letting us have a later than average departure as well. It was like we had visited a loving and caring member of our family as the care was most excellent. We would love to stay again less the drama next time. If you are looking at booking in Harrogate it's simple just book at The White Hart. For us there is no other choice and I am sure you will be ecstatic you did.

Fabulous overnight stay. Spacious room overlooking the stray. Very friendly and efficient staff -plenty of them and it makes a huge difference! All round a great hotel with extremely good prices. Breakfast was delicious and served promptly in lovely dining room. Attached pub the fat badger is an added bonus! Great bar, warm and cosy, serving a good range of beers and fabulous too. Beautiful well furnished outdoor seating areas with heaters. Only thing that would have made it better is some blankets during cold weather. Great location with easy convenient car park. Overall this hotel offers excellent value for money. Definitely recommend. We will definitely return! Thank you

Booked here for New Year's Eve and although the hotel itself is lovely and has an excellent location it was very expensive for the the standard of room that we received. It was a very small room and we could hear everything going on in the rooms around us throughout the night. It was not what I expected for the money that we paid.

Absolutely first class staff brilliant room and birthday card an amazing touch Made my wifes birthday a memorable one Thankyou so much Will definately be staying here again breakfast was also fantastic

"Clean, central and with a bar attached - BRILL !!"

Paul C, Blackburn, United Kingdom 20/12/2018

The hotel is in a great location for exploring the city, close to shops, tourist destinations and loads of bars and eateries. The check in is easy, price not excessive - especially if you try a Sunday night, and it's attached to the Fat Badger Bar and Grill, so you don't even need to step outside if the weather is dodgy or you just can't be bothered. Slightly concerned that in the booking you are not told that if you want to leave your car on the car park it's an extra £12 (almost everywhere in Harrogate is permit parking only), but not enough to put me off returning. It just might be advisable to tell people in advance.

"I absolutely loved it. Room 312 is fab!"

Elisa B, Cirencester, United Kingdom 19/12/2018

I stayed with you in December 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. I then returned this December with a friend and we stayed in your suite, which was spacious and immaculate. We really enjoyed our stay and slept so well. We also had dinner on our first night at The Fat Badger, which was lovely. I will definitely return again next year. I stay in hotels a lot for work, so can become quite jaded when I come away on holiday, but this hotel is special. There is the balance of it having the mod cons and facilities, but also retaining the old fashioned charm and customer service.

"Lovely Harrogate Hotel"

5
User 19/12/2018

We have stayed at a few hotels in Harrogate but this one is now our favourite. Perfect location in Montpellier with a view looking up to the town centre and towards the Stray. Hotel has nice decor and the rooms are more than adequate. All staff were friendly, polite and efficient. The hot cooked breakfasts were freshly cooked to order which makes a nice change nowadays (usual array of juices/cereals/fruit etc also available). The attached pub (The Fat Badger) serves an excellent array of drinks and the food was good too. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and the Badger seemed to be extremely popular. The hotel is very handy for the town centre, Betty's, Ivy, Turkish baths & festival hall. We will certainly stay in the White Hart again.

Excellant room, clean, warm, large and very comfortable. Beautiful bathroom. Easy to check in and out. Great parking and reasonable prices. The bar is a very pleasant environment. I would highly recommend this hotel.

"Great location, lovely hotel."

EveningShift, Leeds, United Kingdom 16/12/2018

No complaints at all. The room was just the right temperature, and the bedding was very comfortable. Everything was nice and clean. The breakfast wasn't outstanding, but we still very nice. The only feedback I have, which is not a complaint, is that the fixtures and fittings in the corridors and stairwells do look very dated and seem to have been covered in brown paint. Bare wood would look much nicer. Despite that, I'll definitely stay again when I'm in Harrogate next. The location is right in the middle of town, so is ideal for the station, shopping, and restaurants/bars.

"Nice hotel in great location"

4
User 14/12/2018

Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the atmosphere in the Fat Badger pub and a few drinks. Breakfast was good, the full Yorkshire breakfast was good quality produce. The hotel is in a great location in Harrogate with its own car park. Only downside was for the price we paid for our room we felt it was a bit basic and the shower wasn't very powerful but overall we enjoyed our stay.

"Montpellier suite "

5
User 07/12/2018

Amazing stay, as always! We have stayed here 4/5 times now and the apartments are always gorgeous. The only downside is there is no full length mirrors and the living area was not quite big enough for the 6 of us. Staff are always lovely and helpful. Would recommend again and again.

Stunning Hotel and wonderfully comfortable bed and room. Had an evening meal and breakfast both plenty of Gluten free options for myself. Only stayed one night as was on business but would love to come back with family for longer stay.

donohoemaureen, Manchester, United Kingdom 06/12/2018

Ideal location in the town centre. The hotel was good we stayed in room 213 which was on the second floor with a nice view. The room was well furnished with comfy bed, tea coffee etc., and toiletries. There was free wifi throughout the hotel. Breakfast was good with buffet style cereals, toast and juice with a menus to order your main breakfast offering a good choice. There is a car park at the rear which is payable on checkout. The location is ideal and just down the road from Betty's Famous Tea shop and the main shopping centre. A forty minute drive away is also the York Designer Outlet Shopping mall and well worth a visit!

"Nice hotel, shame about the noise"

4
User 05/12/2018

The young lady on reception was very friendly, as were the cleaning staff we encountered and the breakfast staff. On-site parking was much appreciated. We stayed in the separate Montpellier accommodation, in room 422. It was very spacious and luxurious, very comfortable, and had underfloor heating in the bathroom. We needed a good night's sleep before an early start the next morning. This was impossible, due to the noisy banging of doors in the building. Worse was the laughter, shouting and screaming from a group of people just outside our window, in the outside area of the Hotel's Badger Bar, still going strong at 1.30 am. Due to this, though the hotel was nice, we would not choose it again.

"Gret value and quality"

5
Markywarky, Leeds, United Kingdom 05/12/2018

We've always fancied staying here, as we use the Fat Badger bar when in Harrogate. We thought it would be expensive for an overnight Xmas shopping trip but when we looked at the website it was only marginally more expensive than a comparison website we use. Taking into consideration 10% off first drink in the bar, and a £10 voucher to use against food and drink it worked out cheaper. Great bar, cosy and lively, great restaurant with good views of Harrogate. Room bijou, but we got what we paid for. Will stay here agin on our next visit.

"Great Central Location"

User 29/11/2018

My husband and I rarely get any time away alone but always try to get away for at least one night a year under the guise of "Christmas Shopping". This year, we went to Harrogate and stayed at The White Hart Hotel. We were very happy with our stay. The room was clean and comfortable and the bed was just right in terms of firmness. The staff were friendly and the Fat Badger Bar was extremely atmospheric, with just the right amount of buzz about it to get us in the mood for our festive shopping. Negative things about the stay was that there was quite a bit of noise audible from our room. We were on the first floor above the fitness suite and it was possibly this that was the cause of the noise. Once we were asleep we stayed asleep so it did not wake us, but it was just a little annoying when trying to get to sleep. Breakfast was fine but was a little cold - and yes of course I am sure someone would have heated it up for us if we had mentioned it but, we didn't bother as it was eatable. All in all a good hotel and we would recommend it.

"Brilliant staff but room was poor"

2
gazzer333, Edinburgh, United Kingdom 22/11/2018

The staff, atmosphere and image of the hotel was wonderful but unfortunately the room was nothing more than a travelodge. But at least a travelodge has twin rooms with two doubles. I don't think I'll be back as they just can not offer a family room. This is a shame as only a few weeks ago when I was at Best Western in Lythm they do offer wonderful rooms They have been in touch and said they do have apartments but wow have you seen the cost ? This is a Best Western hotel, so just be careful on the BW website and if you telephone book with BW as they do not know the hotel has a max of 3 people for their rooms. Just one more thing, the limited car park is £12 per night for guests and be careful if you go to the upper level as there is no turning area ! You have to reverse back down the ramp

"Small rooms, good service, superb breakfast"

3
User 22/11/2018

Small rooms Maybe I was unlucky, but my double bed room was too small and I could not store all my stuff properly The 3 stars assessment is mainly because of this reason, hotel rate is not cheap, value for money is the first factor Good service Besides the room dimension, all personnel was professional, kind and smiling Superb breakfast Top quality Yorkshire breakfast and wide variety of fresh food available

"Central Location"

4
Blueboy0, Bishop Auckland, United Kingdom 22/11/2018

The hotel is central for all attractions in Harrogate including bath houses, parks and restaurants. The train station is near- by where there is a regular train service to York. A small two-storey public car park is available to the rear of the hotel where hotel clients have a reduction in parking fee to £12 a day. Booking-in was quick and easy, the staff pleasant and informative. Our room on the second floor was at the front over-looking the Christmas market. Although small, it had a shower/bath, coffee/tea/ hot chocolate/ facilities with biscuits replenished each day, iron and iron board and a large plasma television. The dining room was large and decorative with chandeliers and a Georgian feel. Breakfast was the usual buffet of cereal and fruit followed by a choice of cooked breakfasts, which was of a high standard, served at the table. There is a good choice of menu for the evening meal. All the food served to our party was also of a high standard and reasonably priced. The restaurant staff were polite and courteous. I would recommend this hotel for couples and groups although they do have facilities for business groups with conference rooms, etc.

"Real Disappointment- book at own risk - Terrible place to stay"

1
User 21/11/2018

Absolutely terrible. A romantic weekend away spoilt by a hotel. The issues; Booked a room in hotel so we could use facilities, have some wine, keep warm and relax. Given a room across the car park in a separate block. Not s room-in the ‘cosy hotel' We booked a deluxe double room to have some space and a nice upgrade. The room was smaller than the average travel lodge. Noise. We could hear the people in the next to us quite clearly Car parking - charged to use the hotel car park, not mentioned on booking. Bar - too full to get a table - ended up having to use a table in the hallway. Breakfast- 15 min wait to get a table. Number of guests complaining about service and wrong orders being delivered. We asked for our tea/coffee three times before actually getting it. Leaving - no one questioned our stay or if we were happy, we were so disappointed our weekend was spoilt that we simply left.

"A great visit to The White Hart"

5
User 19/11/2018

Room was great (we got a free upgrade to a four poster room); bathroom was huge - bath and shower; situated in a fantastic spot - close to bars, restaurants and all other amenities. Harrogate is a lovely town and this hotel is a perfect place to visit it from.

Fantastic location. Staff very helpful & friendly. Rooms a good standard but very hot. The bar staff in the badger bar were the hardest working I've see, under incredible pressure as the bar was extremely busy the whole weekend

"Lovely hotel pity about inconsiderate guests"

4
CheshireMabel39, Cheshire 15/11/2018

I stayed here for two nights with my friend. The hotel is lovely and the staff were great as well. We didn't have any breakfast as we ate out. Our only complaint was some inconsiderate guests who thought it was acceptable to be really noisy at ridiculous hours of the night including a gang of women and a couple acting out Fifty Shades of Grey. Maybe the Hotel needs to consider soundproofing?

"Poor nights sleep"

3
Annaschu, Farnborough, United Kingdom 13/11/2018

Despite being a beautiful hotel my stay here was poor, music could be heard from below the room until 2am. I didn't report it so perhaps they could have moved me if i'd asked but obviously there's no way to stop the music if it's a party - that was a Thursday night too

"Comfortable room"

4
flowersrus, Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom 13/11/2018

We enjoyed our recent stay at the White Hart, we are former Harrogate residents and have used the Hotel for many events and stays over the years. We stayed in a refurbished room That was pleasant and comfortable. One observation is that my Wife (whilst not disabled) had difficulty getting in and out of the Bath, we recommend the addition of a ‘grab' handle to the wall at the bottom end of the bath.

"Lovely hotel"

4
Vicky G, West Sussex, United Kingdom 12/11/2018

We stayed here for 2 nights, the room was lovely and clean with quality decor and furnishings. The bathroom was beautifully decorated but the shower was a little underwhelming. It looked fantastic but had very little power, but this is a personal preference. The full length mirror was a bonus, and the handy power/usb points. We chose to leave our car in the car park as we didn't want to loose our space. It is tight but once parked up your fine and the price is great for city centre parking. Fantastic bar, great location, comfy rooms we will return! Thanks for a great stay!

Stayed for one night were the staff was very welcoming especially the reception lady who was very helpful and polite. Room was lovely and the bar joined to the hotel had a good atmosphere. Nice cafe's close to hotel if want to go elsewhere for breakfast. Will definitely be back!

"Beautiful room and en-suite"

Located at the side of the hotel in Montpellier House this stylish room with beautiful en-suite, only problem was we booked through booking.com and weren't aware we were next door and had to put our coats on and boots to go for breakfast. Staff were friendly and very attentive. Food was luvly, no complaints at all.

This hotel is situated in the heart of town within walking of all major sights and shopping areas. The hotel staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The Fat Badger is a great little bar and very reasonable prices! Particularly recommend the pornstar cocktail.

"Good breakfast"

5
John H, Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom 04/11/2018

Stayed one night on a business trip, again. This time was not in the main building but a couple of doors down which meant lost a lot of the character of the main hotel. Room was perfectly good and well presented business hotel room with both a good separate shower and a good bath. Breakfast is good here and taken in the main hotel.

"Disappointed"

3
DaveyNorthUK, Bolton UK 03/11/2018

Just stayed here for one night. Beautiful lobby and exterior of the building which is in a great location in the centre. Unfortunately one of the most important things in the room - the bed, was a poor quality mattress that gave us both a poor night's sleep. The hotel is also noisy with doors slamming which echoes down the halls and there was a lot of early morning noise presumably from housekeeping trolleys etc. I know the hotel can't be held responsible for inconsiderate guests slamming doors but because the building is old it was noisier than a modern hotel.

After a dissatisfied stay at their Sister hotel The Yorkshire earlier in the month we stayed here and loved the stylish decor of the whole place . The rooms are lovely and modern. The room was spotlessly clean and it had a lovely view. This is the second time we have stayed here and love it. The fat badger is a great bar ...lively,friendly with fantastic food at very reasonable prices too. We have decided to return soon .

"HARROGATE WHITE HART GAVE AN ENJOYABLE WEEKEND STAY"

4
davidharrylarder, Retford, United Kingdom 31/10/2018

My wife and had never stayed at the White Hart in Harrogate, although we had stayed at other Harrogate hotels in the past, so we decided, as they had an offer available, to try it. It is very well positioned, looking out over the Montpellier Gardens where the autumn trees shed golden leaves across a parkland. It is near the famous sulphur well and bath that historically brought about the development of the town. One could easily walk into the main shopping area-or drive out into the beautiful North Yorkshire Dales. There is no driveway into the hotel front, where there is a parking restriction. However we were told by hotel staff not be concerned. We initially unloaded our cases behind the hotel where £12 per night was charged for parking. The disabled entrance was very easy to access at the front from pavement level behind the neat box hedges. Double pillared on each side, with a few steps, the entrance is early grey stone and Victorian. Carved stone cornucopias of vibrant flowers flank it. As soon as we were seen arriving, a very friendly young lady from reception came out to help with our cases. The initial impression was that although there has been considerable refurbishment and repainting by Best Western hotels that now owns it, the White Hart is rather dark. The greyish paintwork does not help behind the black leather armchairs in the small reception area with its considerable lack of light. Just inside is a hairdressing and beauty salon. There was no further help with the cases to the room, but the lift was nearby. Our room was opposite the exit of the lift on the 2nd floor which had a deeply carpeted corridor. So it was very convenient. Opening the room's electronic security lock we felt warm upon entry, but the room was very small, compared with other hotel rooms we had stayed in. The double bed was more like a three quarters bed. A clever use of mirrors made the room look bigger. The walls had been freshly painted in grey-not a favourite colour, but peaceful. The lighting was overhead spotlights and on each side of the very comfortable bed were flexible reading lights. There was only one armchair and 2 tiny bedside drawers .With only one single wardrobe, which did contain an ironing board, iron and hairdryer, there was very little storage. My wife used it all and I kept my clothes for a weekend break still in my suitcase. Even the desk drawer (which served as a dressing table as well) was full of the coffee and tea and cups. Our general impression was that the room had been made from a small Victorian box--room, with one corner being used for the en-suite. It was good to have a walk-in shower with a grey and warm slate floor, but there was no grab bar in the shower or nonslip mat. Fittings were in good condition, and everywhere was clean and attention had been paid to detail. There was plenty of information in the room about local attractions with discount coupons- although most of them referred to York. When we pulled back the heavy curtain we found ourselves staring up at the belly of a four-legged animal- only inches from the glass. Yes, it was the WHITE HART model-almost life-size, which was on a plinth outside of our window. Its antlers looked quite formidable at close range! We noticed that there was £100 fine for smoking and that there was free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was not included. On the room service menu there were 10 classics, 54 steaks and 8 starter dishes. A separate vegan menu was available. Downstairs there was an access to the hotel's restaurant which was also available to the public from the street. It was called the Fat Badger and claimed to be one of the best restaurants in Harrogate. It certainly had a fine dining menu, and as expected, was expensive. Vibrant modern paintings hung from the walls. We enjoyed its opulence when we had a good Yorkshire breakfast served to us from the kitchen next morning. There was self-service for cereals. There was very little in the fresh fruit salad comprised only of prunes and dried apricots. The staff made us feel comfortable in this hotel and while it seemed more basic than others it was suitable for an enjoyable weekend there.

"Can't wait to stay again"

5
User 31/10/2018

We had booked a small double and in all fairness after booking we were quite concerned at how small this room would be!! Pleasantly surprised. Lovely room big enough for the two of us. Very comfortable bed with lovely pillows and bedding. Only stayed the one night and as we will need to return to Harrogate in a few months time - we will definitely be booking again. The bar - fantastic. Overall - brilliant and looking forward to returning.

"Great location"

Fantastic location right in the centre of Harrogate. Easy to find and easy to park on site. Staff made us very welcome on arrival. Our room was comfortable with a modern feel and was well equipped with useful items, such as a hairdryer, ironing board and iron, kettle and refreshments. We had dinner at the Fat Badger restaurant and service and food were both excellent. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

"White Hart Revisited."

Although its only just over 18 months since we last visited the hotel it has now completely finished the refurbishment and the 2 rooms that we had were very nice and finished to a high specification, we stayed 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast didn't disappoint excellent in fact served by a pleasant friendly team in the restaurant, can't praise the White Hart enough such relaxed few days can't wait for our return well done.

"Lovely room and staff"

My stay at the White Hart was a pleasure. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the room was lovely and the breakfast was amazing. The rooms a of a good size, we had our 15 month old son in a travel cot and it still felt spacious.

We have thoroughly enjoyed out short break at the White Hart hotel in Harrogate. The food in the Fat Badger bar & Grill [Hotel restaurant] is excellent and the staff are so friendly and polite. They did everything they could to make our visit relaxing and enjoyable. Our bedroom was very comfortable & clean. We love Harrogate & the White Hart and are looking forward to a return visit!

"Great Place."

5
Dubhag, Glasgow 18/10/2018

We stayed in Montpellier House, an annexe adjacent to the hotel. Superb! Warm; comfortable; mahoosive bed; two-way shower; underfloor heating in bathroom. At breakfast and dinner, the food was hot, well cooked, tasty and served with a smile. Couldn't fault it.The Fat Badger bar was great sitting outside - cushions, throws supplied for comfort to which was added a very effective heater. However, inside the bar the manager obviously liked his "musack" at conversation-shouting level; extremely uncomfortable, and about which I complained. The volume was lowered until the manager resumed his preferred level. The other bar staff were most helpful and friendly.

"Excellent Hotel"

Excellent accommodation and the food is good value for money, especially the Market Menu with two courses for £10. The staff were extremely polite and very helpful. The hotel is centrally located and beautifully kept. We will recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Michael F, Nottingham 16/10/2018

I have stayed at this hotel three times now and each time has been consistently good value for the money I paid - I have always booked directly with the hotel. The room I stayed in (322) had a large and comfortable bed and good quality pillows - I can't stand the feather type pillows that wrap around your head and half suffocate you. My only issue with the room was the water pressure of the shower - I stood for several minutes thinking it would improve, frustratingly it remained at a level well below what you'd class as acceptable. My colleague is room 321 had the same shower issue. The location is great, the hotel is clean and nicely decorated with decent furnishings. The bar staff at the Fat Badger were helpful and knowledgeable and I liked the snugs and sofa areas that gave some privacy. The checkout could've done with more than one person - we had to take a seat whilst a couple checked out who had some sort of issue. All in all I would recommend the White Hart for business or pleasure.

"Nice place to stay in Harrogate."

We stayed here in September 2018, the place is a quite big hotel with parking at the back, you will have to use steps to get your suitcases in from here. Its clean and tidy and the rooms are nice. Its a good location to stay and the staff are good. I will stay here again, very good place to stay. Bar is good too!

Friendly, helpful staff who were happy to offer a late checkout and clean, well-equipped rooms. They have their own car park which is helpful in that area as you don't have to feed a meter or keep moving around. Ideally located in the centre of town and very near good restaurants and pubs. Would definitely recommend

This hotel is just fantastic. We got married at Harrogate registry office and chose this hotel as our venue for the family meal with overnight stay for 2 night. The hotel really went out of there way to make our day extra special. we didn't book the wedding through them, but communicated what we wanted and they went above and beyond to make sure we got it. We chose the private dining area and the hotel made sure that it was dressed for the occasion. Fran and her team were just brilliant and they even upgraded us to the apartments which were just fantastic and just made the whole stay that extra special. I wish we could do it all again, I would definitely chose this option over any big wedding and to top it off we had glorious sunshine. thank you Fran and Team xx

Fine old hotel in an excellent location with parking (quite expensive). Good, big, clean and comfortable room with disappointingly only one small window with a view of the fire escape. Good dinner and breakfast although the boiled eggs were too hard to dip the soldiers! We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and would stay here again as well as recommending it to others.

Really loved the hotel, lovely size room. Great bed. Decor was very trendy but classy. Only had breakfast which was great. The ambience in the bar was warm and welcoming.Everywhere was spotless and staff were friendly.

stayed 2 night in a twin room for business with breakfast both mornings. Perfectly situated from the bus and train station, central location to the town center. Clean and a comfortable bed and a fantastic breakfast. The staff were wonderful and happy and an asset to this wonderful hotel. We go to Harrogate every year for business and we will be returning here each year just perfect.

Hi Fran, We've deliberately left this review for a month now in order to reflect and think back to the days leading up to our daughter's wedding. Our views haven't changed. We're still bowled over by the wonderful service you and your team provided, the wonderful rooms/accommodation you have on offer and the lovely food presented. Thank you for everything you accomplished. Always so calm and ready to accommodate any last minute changes thrown your way. You couldn't have made our daughter's wedding day any more special than you did. John and Nada

Lovely hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. Nice location too. Perfect base for sightseeing, shopping or pubs/restaurants. Breakfast service was very slow even although it didn't appear very busy. Staff were confused about the late resident's bar and were giving out conflicting info.

Arrival and car parking smooth and staff friendly and helpful. Room small but well appointed and very comfortable bed ( rm 219) . The situation of the hotel was perfect for our overnight stop. the only negative was there was a large function on in the restaurant so we could not eat there and indeed the noise from the bar below our room went on until after 1:00am.

Excellent hotel great staff lovely room delicious breakfast thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hotel in ideal location for all Harrogate has to offer. Sat outside with our bottle of wine ( 20% discount on first round in fat badger for hotel guests) got a little chilly but one of the bar staff kindly found a gas bottle for the patio heater which prompted us to sample another bottle of wine. We have stayed many times in Harrogate but this was our first visit to The White Hart but it will not be the last. Thankyou everyone

Booked into reception at 12.45pm; understood we had to wait until 2.00pm for our room to be ready for us, but they were able to store our bags/case until then. We decided to get some lunch; lots of places to eat, at very reasonable prices. We didn't have to walk far to find a lovely modern coffee/tea shop, and had an excellent choice of sandwiches and soup. Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the road, and a lovely park area. Good size, lovely and clean; white bedding, smart bathroom with shower and bath. Could not have asked for better. The room was furnished in a Scottish theme; woollen curtains and bed cushions. As this is an old building, the rooms have the original skirting boards, and very high ceilings. We had booked bed and breakfast accommodation; however we decided to have a dinner on both nights which was a lovely experience with an excellent choice of starters, with a variety of both fish and meats to choose. The staff were very helpful and the service very good. We will definitely keep returning to Harrogate; it has lots of history and places to visit. Also, York is only about a 13 mile drive, you must catch the Park & Ride bus in Pocklington; the bus service is excellent.

We were really pleased with our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. We were pleased with the variety of cereals and fruit available at breakfast. The hotel is well situated for walking into Harrogate and exploring and shopping.

"A lovely surprise!"

We were given vouchers for an overnight stay at the White Hart Hotel as a gift. It proved to be a lovely surprise. The hotel is in the very centre of the town overlooking a pleasant garden and walkway. The Reception staff were very helpful and welcoming so we felt relaxed and at home immediately. We were allocated a room in Montpellier House which is an annexe but only a very short walk away across the entrance to the car park. It was worth it as the rooms are very new - you can still smell the newness in the carpets - very clean and very secure with a separate entrance to the suite of rooms which can only be opened by your room key. It also has a lift. The room was very light and had everything we needed apart from a full size mirror which would have been nice especially if you were staying there prior to a function. However, it wasn't a problem. It was a cosy, quiet room and we slept really well in the comfortable beds. The bathroom was a good size and had a lovely rain shower and was very spacious. Toiletries were provided together with little extras like cotton wool balls and face cloths. A few days before visiting the hotel we booked a meal in the main restaurant, The Fat Badger Grill, and received a free bottle of wine which was a lovely gesture. The meal was very, very good and we hope to dine there again even if only visiting the area and not staying over. The staff in the restaurant were lovely. The atmosphere in the dining room was very relaxing. The breakfast was equally good and served in this lovely room. We received a 20% off voucher towards our first drink in the bar area which also was a lovely gesture on the part of the hotel. We were aware that there was a cost of £12 for car parking and although initially thoughts this high once we arrived and realised the car park was just to the rear of the hotel and secure with a barrier we were happy to pay it. The hotel allowed us to leave the car for a couple of extra hours at no extra cost the following morning so we could enjoy a walk before departure. It also proved to be the cheapest parking in Harrogate I think! We had a lovely stay at a lovely hotel where everyone was friendly, helpful and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was a good one. We would certainly recommend the hotel and look forward to being able to stay there again.

"Wedding event and stay"

Helen K, Halifax, United Kingdom 20/08/2018

I really cannot give enough praise for the way that the whole White Hart team made the wedding of my son so fantastic and the stay for all our guests! The food was amazing throughout and the chef very accommodating, even for our vegan guests. The Organisation of the event itself was absolutely brilliant and on the day (and those days leading up to and straight after the wedding), Fran (the lead organiser) was so attentive with no ask being too big or small, she took everything in her stride and made everyone feel special. Such an experienced team who really cared about our event and all our guests, I would recommend this venue to anyone panning a special event or just a weekend break. Superb!

Hotel was great as was food. Got an unexpected upgrade of room which was very much appreciated to help celebrate our friends wedding anniversary in style. All staff were pleasant and no request was too much trouble. It was our first stay in Harrogate and we will definitely return and stay at White Heart again. The Dovecote was really impressive.

Renovated rooms are great, not so sure about the older rooms (but these are cheaper). The Fat Badger is a wonderful pub with good food and Fran at reception is so helpful and accommodating - really went out of her way to ensure we had a good stay. Great location in Harrogate, close to everything. Will return.

Fiona63, Green Street Green, UK 01/08/2018

We enjoyed our stay very much, perfect location, plenty of parking. The hotel staff were excellent from check in, to breakfast service and checking out. The rooms were very comfortable and very big - we had Room 309, bed was so comfortable and bathroom facilities very good. Breakfast was excellent - perhaps would have liked it to be served until a bit later, 9.30 a.m. was a bit of a rush for us! We were on holiday ! I will be recommending you to everyone I know who is visiting Harrogate. Many thanks

Have just returned from spending a lovely few days here. The White Hart is a boutique hotel in the leafy Montpellier area of Harrogate. It looks out across the greens that line the route up to the town, and is in a quiet but central location. There are plenty of small shops and cafes in the immediate area, and the main high street is about a five-minute walk away. We had a third-floor room overlooking the green and it felt like we were in the tree-tops. The hotel is a stone building, and our window was framed by the roof castellations. It was fascinating to see how thick the walls are. Our room was a decent size, nicely decorated and clean. There was also a very modern bathroom. The beds were comfy and the linens and towels good quality. Free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making facilities were also available in the room. Finally, a mention for the hotel staff who were all lovely. Polite and helpful whenever we spoke to them, and always very friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and hope to visit again some day.

This is our second visit to the hotel, the room we had was quite small but was adequate for our needs and the bathroom was great as it had a bath and shower.. room was very hot due to the weather, not hotels fault and they provided us with a fan which was a must to be able to sleep.. Breakfast is lovely with a good selection of hot and continental items. Again we had lunch at the attached Fat Badger Bar making good use of the outdoor seating, the food was lovely and set us up for the day,, very well located hotel with very pleasant staff, would definitely recommend and will definitely be back again.

"A negative into a positive!"

User 27/07/2018

Myself and my partner had stayed previously and had left dissatisfied and so I contacted customer services. Fran was wonderful and absolutely excelled herself when she gave us essentially a free night's stay. The room was AMAZING ?? it was warm, comfortable, quiet and we got an amazing night's sleep. I'm really impressed that the White Hart really does take its customer satisfaction seriously and all of the things that we'd previously been unhappy with had been resolved. We would most definitely stay again in the future. Once again, a special mention to Fran for resolving the situation and turning a negative into a positive! Thank you!

"Lovely night away. "

Me and my Partner have just got home after a night away in Harrogate, we chose this hotel as it was the cheapest that was available. Room was a decent size and the bed was extremely comfy. Easy check in and all the staff were lovely. We got 20% off our first drink in the bar too which was a nice touch. Close to loads of restaurants and bars. All around a great stay and definitely will be back in the future.

The whole of this lovely old Harrogate stalwart seems to have been refurbished. And, at first sight since such changes were wrought, at no small expense or limp imaginstion. In the cut-throat world of turning Victorian splendour into mirrors of modern life in the?? World of Hospitality, it's important that the right note is struck when one starts on the lost chord. Fortunately, someone up there still loves the magnificent White Hart Hotel in the Bearing Heart of Harrogate. We were there last night and this morning, my wife was off to see the hairdresser in the complex. Looks like they have their whole act in gear now.

We have just spent two nights at The White Hart and absolutely loved it. A great hotel in a great location with lovely staff. We had lunch and an evening meal in the pub attached The Fat Badger and the food was great and good value. We will definitely return very soon.

Thank you for a great review! The Fat Badger is a great asset to us and also provides a wide range of food and drinks served in amazing surroundings and if we are lucky with the weather as we have been recently the outside area is also a bonus addition to watch the world go by and relax with a gin or two in the sunshine! We hope you return and do not hesitate to contact us for the best rate. Kind Regards Fran

Small compact room. Clean but stuffy and very hot. Noise from the kitchen woke us early every morning. Shower was a a bit temperamental. Car parking on site at £12 a day which we made use of. But fab location for visiting the area.

"Ideal hotel to stay at if attending the Great Yorkshire Show"

5
peekostar, Morecambe, Lancashire, England 17/07/2018

The hotel is excellently located in the centre of Harrogate, ideal if attending the Great Yorkshire Show as we were. The Staff were very friendly and helpful and our room was large and airy. The Fat Badger is a great location to grab a bar meal or enjoy some drinks and cocktails and was always busy with a great atmosphere. The only thing that dissappoints about this hotel is the fact they charge you £12.00/night as a resident to park your car on their car park, we were already paying a premium rate for our room so this made our stay even more expensive. We have stayed at other hotels in the same area and of the same quality who do not charge for parking, maybe this could be reviewed and the charge lowered, it could put clients off staying there again in the future.

Our recent stay at the Blackhorse Inn was fantastic we stopped for one night on the way home from Scotland we'd been to knockhill to watch British superbikes and discovered that the Blackhorse inn are biker friendly. Our room was sumptuous and beautifully decorated the room we were in was the kaoto star suite and was really quite large and included a settee there was a full bath with an overhead shower that was pretty powerful. We are in the bar in the evening there is a really lovely restaurant room as well the food was delicious and the staff were great the landlord was very friendly to be honest I really couldn't fault it

"Very small room"

3
Jade S, Darlington, United Kingdom 09/07/2018

Stayed here for the night after a wedding at Allerton Castle. For the price we paid, the shoebox sized room and tiny double bed was very disappointing. I would expect at least a kingsize bed with a room 3 times the price of a premier inn. We didn't go down for breakfast, we opted to have it in the room which was a big mistake really as all that was available was cornflakes, branflakes, toast, grapefruit, croissant and drinks from what I recall. It was distinctly bland and not very tasty. A disappointing stay for the price it cost, you don't get what you pay for.

"Lovely location but rather basic tiny room"

4
Greenshadow, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom 06/07/2018

The final night of a week's tour of Yorkshire. Granted we booked at very short notice so were probably lucky to get a room (and did get a VERY good deal), but the room was a little basic and only a small double bed (you get used to having bigger beds in most hotels these days). Bathroom adequate, though could have done with somewhere to hang a towel. We were a bit worried upon finding our room was sandwiched between the lift and stairs but heard no noise at all during the night. The main downside was breakfast - the cooked was great but a very poor choice of cold buffet - no croissants/pain chocolate/cold meats or cheese etc. Maybe they'd had problems with their supplier but there was no notice offering any explanation. We weren't even late down for it. The previous nights we'd stayed at two small B&Bs and they managed a far more superior breakfast selection. But it was convenient - parking is useful (£12 though so be prepared) and the bar food was great.

Stayed in the Cavendish Suite (422) for three nights, can thoroughly recommend this room. Spacious, bright room with large ensuite (lovely soft towels). Very good breakfasts and excellent lunch and evening meal at The Fat Badger. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel only a short walk across the Montepelliar Gardens to the town centre. Amazing scenery. Will certainly be staying here again.

"Another lovely visit in a beautiful location and great hotel"

5
glo35, Irvine, United Kingdom 05/07/2018

We had a lovely welcome when we booked in, our room had been renovated to a high standard and was all co-ordinated to match. Every was clean and fresh and shower was amazing. We spent the afternoon having a late lunch with some lovely wine, chilling out and people watching at the onsite bar, The Fat Badger. "Clarkie" the manager worked hard throughout the day to make things run smoothly on a very busy day, and staff were all lovely...We went to the pub quiz at night compaired of course by the one and only Clarkie, who must have been exhausted. Our only negative feedback would be that sitting outside the front of the hotel, at lovely tables and chairs, they was a lot of dirt and leaves that needed removed, but well done to all the staff. ????

"Stunning inside and out"

Had a night here with six friends and what a gorgeous place. The bar was reasonable and the breakfast cooked to order was amazing. I must add that the night porter Sat 30th/Sun 1st was professional and had the patience of a saint! The Chinese lady on reception in the morning was so lovely and professional a real gem. Ideal for a relaxing or romantic break.

The hotel with some historic amenities and perfect location. I booked it through Hotels.com so I got, let's say, not the best room there. It was a smelly one with the outside A/C buzzing all day. The food, in the other hand, is great and the pub is amazing.

My husband and I recently stayed in this hotel as we needed an overnight stay en route from Scarborough . The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent with reasonable prices and very skilled staff in attendance.

Our room was comfortable but rather small for the money spent. Room looked like it had been recently refurbished but some things still look dated.Bed was very comfortable and breakfast was and staff all friendly. Think we may have been unlucky with the room we got as others did look bigger.

"Good Value Stay in great location - but some points to be aware of!"

4
User 19/06/2018

I booked 2 bedrooms for a quick trip away and we got really good prices booking through your website - hence we weren't too upset to find they were at the back of the hotel (no.s 322 and 321) and looked out onto the back of the hotel, with a huge working fan up the back of the building outside. It was a hot evening so we kept our windows open to cool down but the fan was noisy. Had I not had earplugs with me, which I used, i would have found it hard to get to sleep with the fan as background noise. I'd suggest you leave customers ear plugs in these rooms so that they can use them if necessary. Otherwise the room was well-equpped, nicely decorated, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We ate in your Dining Room and had booked a window table for 2 with the restaurant staff (who accepted our request and said that was fine) for 7.30pm, before heading out for a walk around the town at around 6pm. However when we returned to dine we found all the window tables taken and no explanation given about why a table hadn't been kept / reserved for us. Instead we were given a table to the side of the little bar in the back room, and that was fine until a couple with their very young baby (circa a year old) came in at 7.45/8pm ish, who were sat immediately next to us, with the high-chair filling the space between the 2 tables. Seating them so close was totally unnecessary as there were plenty of other empty tables further away from us. The main problem was really the baby squealed and was practising using her voice throughout the meal, and much as her parents were good at trying to shhh her, the squeals continued alongside dropped toys, and I think her parents should have been told to come into the restaurant and eat earlier. If they'd eaten at 6 or 6.30pm they would have been finished as older adult guests were arriving for dinner. If I'd been dining with my husband or had taken friends there with us for a celebratory dinner, I wouldn't want the ambience of the evening shattered by high-pitched squealing babies dining late (i.e. after 7.30 for a 1 year old?). Id suggest you revise your restaurant rules re young children (under 8 yrs old maybe?) or at least seat them away from other diners in what was a huge (and relatively empty Dining Room). Otherwise we had a really enjoyable stay and all the waiting staff/ reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Thanks JR, Newcastle

toptog2014, Blackburn, United Kingdom 14/06/2018

Very Modern clean bedrooms and breakfast was great for very good price, located 5 mins for all amenities in the centre of Harrogate. All the staff were very helpful .We had a couple of issues with the fab key.Other guest were just letting their doors slam all hours of the day and night and the bin wagon was right outside or window at 6.30am waking us up . I parked my car at the back of the hotel, (extra £12)there are two levels, the top level has a metal staircase lending down to the ground level than there are a few more steps from the carpark in though the back entrance of the hotel to get to a very very dark hallway reception. Which has a bit of a musty smell. All in All value for money.

Charlotteh1977, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates 13/06/2018

We stayed here for one night. Really lovely hotel/apartments. Perfect location for the town centre, Betty's Tea Room and Botanical Gardens all 5 mins walk away. The location and hotel is perfect. First impression on arrival is that the receptionist seemed quite uninterested and not very friendly which was the only let down of our stay here. On check in we walked in and headed towards the desk, suitcase in hand. The receptionist just said. ‘Do you have a reservation? I think a ‘hello, how are you welcome would be a nice touch. We were early and understood this, however the next sentence after confirming we had a reservation was, your room won't be ready until 2 pm. We felt like she didn't give us any information on the facilities of the hotel or surrounding area. It would be nice to have info given freely and not have to ask, where is breakfast served? Where can we eat? How do we get to the town centre? Just the general that anyone arriving in a new town would love to know. The following day however another girl who was on reception was lovely and helpful and smiley. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment and it was lovely. Clean, modern and new. Absolutely perfect apartment. Well equipped and comfortable. Tea making facilities in each room which is a lovely touch. The bed we so cosy and I slept like a dream. The bathrooms were perfect with a big pile of fluffy white towels and local toiletries. We did decide to eat at the fat badger and really enjoyed our meal. The place has a good buzz to it. If you'd like somewhere quieter to eat you can eat in the hotel and it's the same menu. (The fat badger staff informed us of this). Breakfast the following morning was good and plenty of choices. Really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to friends and definitely return.

Buddy_hamster, Tynemouth, United Kingdom 13/06/2018

The hotel lobby, beer garden and fat badger restaurant are appealing. The room we were in on the 3rd floor was tiny, barely enough space for 2 adults plus luggage. The bathroom was in need of refurbishment. The view was the roof and air conditioning unit. The lift was out of order which meant a 3 flight climb to the room. In terms of location it's ideal for the city centre. I would agreed with other travellers than none of the staff are friendly in the hotel reception or the bar, which is surprising and does not give a good first impression. There must be some good rooms based on the website pictures, but the saver price we paid was reflected in the room we were allocated.

Very helpful staff, would have been nice to have had a lift that worked and shower caps in the room with a large overhead shower, did get them from reception. only single glazed sash windows that didn't lock at the back of the hotel so not as secure as it could have been. Very enjoyable stay and lovely breakfast. Hotel allowed us to use the car park as long as we wished on the day we left all for the one off £12. Fee parking seemed to be the norm for all the hotels in the center.

We have just spent one night at this hotel on a b&b tariff. We were in a suite on the 3rd floor overlooking the stray. Although the view was obstructed by masonry work the suite was fabulous. Very spacious and spotlessly clean. The hotel is well presented throughout with a nice dining room and a beautiful outdoor terrace with patio heaters. Blankets provided for chillier evenings. We dined in the fat badger bar that is part of the hotel complex and the food was outstanding! The best pub food we've ever had. Cosy atmosphere and very pleasant staff. The only negative is that I could not have my breakfast coffee served on the terrace so I had to manoeuvre the doors myself with coffee pot, milk and cup without a tray myself-rather strange policy! So they let themselves down on customer service here. All in all this hotel represents excellent value for money and we will definitely return!

For our 40th wedding anniversary we had a top floor suite. Oops lift was out of order but our bags were taken up for us. Have to say every time we come here the staff are so lovely. Fat Badger is great. I so love this hotel.

Very well situated and helpful staff. Big user friendly bathroom and bedroom. Breakfast dry good. Staff very helpful and carried luggage without needing to be asked. You pay for the car park but well worth it as city centre parking not easy. Check your room before you accept it we were given a room on third floor which was too small for two of us for four days and they were happy to find us a more suitable room. Have not given it five stars as we booked it because it had a lift and the lift was out of order for the whole of our stay.

We really liked the room, we wasn't expecting it to be so nice for the price. Very comfy bed , lovely and quiet suite. We would definitely come and stay again. Highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely stay

It was my second time in Harrogate and my first stay at the White Hart but it made a long lasting impression that's for sure! From check in to departure, the staff, accommodation and food were faultless and it was a shame that I only had a couple of nights to enjoy this great place. The location is perfect as well! Ideally situated in the heart of Harrogate and a very short walk away from anywhere makes it the ideal choice when wanting to make the most of the opportunity of staying in this beautiful spa town. Highly recommend staying here next time you are in town!

Lovely hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. The room we had was lovely with a sofa and chair so we could relax in the room, however, there was no set of drawers for t-shirts, underwear etc other than one tiny bedside drawer by each bed (one with a bible in) and two small shallow drawers in the dressing table (with the brewing up equipment in). Disappointing that there was only one pack of biscuits (3 in a pack) and 1 hot chocolate, for 2 people but when we asked reception if this was normal, extra were delivered but not each day. The restaurant was lovely but we hadn't booked one day and when we asked the Maitre d' if a table was available it felt like an inconvenience, we had a drinks voucher which we were told by bar staff could be used in the restaurant as the bar was so noisy and busy and my 84 year old Mum was with me, but whilst the Maitre d' let us use the voucher he wasn't happy saying that it was meant to incentivise us to use the bar. We also left some wine on the table which we intended to take back to the room to finish, went straight back to get it but were told it had been cleared away. Having said all of this, overall we had a fabulous stay, the room was comfortable and spacious, the only thing missing was a guest lounge.

Just back from a wonderful weekend in Harrogate staying in the apartments. We were a party of 13 and had two of them. I can't recommend the White Hart Hotel & Apartments enough, we ate and had a few drinks in the The Fat Badger over the weekend and all the staff we came into contact with were lovely, nothing was too much trouble and despite it being a busy bank holiday. The food and drinks were fantastic, especially the cocktails! The apartments are beautiful, opulent and comfortable. I'm so pleased we found this place, I'm certain many of us will be back. Thank you Fran and all xxx

Stayed for a girls night out. Room spacious, mattress and pillows comfy. Helpful staff. Many thanks for adding to a great night out in Harrogate. Down side you have to pay to park your car in the hotel car park. One night cost me £12 :-( For a great nights sleep and service I recommend you book here.

stormonto57, Sunderland, United Kingdom 25/05/2018

We stayed for 2 nights, I am in a wheelchair but can walk a little and our room was good for a short stay. It was clean and the décor was modern. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had breakfast which was very good, the cooked breakfast was lovely. The only negative is that some of the walls in the corridors were cracked and badly plastered which looked tatty. There was no way of getting a disabled visitor down the stairs if there was a fire, we had to ask what their routine was in the event of a fire and was told they had no chair to get me downstairs.

Just returned from a one night's stay at the White Hart Hotel. Don't normally leave reviews (I always forget) but this was such an exceptional stay we just had to. From arriving we were very impressed with the building and decor, then this was topped off by the delightful Emily on reception. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect (So if her boss is reading this give her a pay rise ha!) The apartment was spectacular and of a very high standard and top end finish. The beds are massive and very comfortable. It had lots of lovely touches like the Tassimo coffee machine with the Costa coffee pods and the dressing gowns and slippers are always a winner. We had dinner in the adjoining Fat Badger which again was a lovely and romantic little bar, the bar tender (sorry don't know his name, he had a beard) was very knowledgeable about the different gins and mixer selections. The food was excellent and very well priced for a hotel. a After a wonderful night's sleep we went to the dining room, which again was beautifully decorated, where we were served a very tasty full Yorkshire breakfast. The whole experience was first class and can't recommend this hotel enough. We will be back - Thank you!

"Our favourite Harrogate Hotel"

Klangey, Southport North West 23/05/2018

The White Hart Hotel is so conveniently located 5mins from Betty's tea shop. Comfortable beds, clean rooms. We did unfortunately have a bit of a wait for our Yorkshire breakfast but after asking why the wait we were given a full refund of our our bill for the breakfast. Well done White Hart, nice gesture so well done. This is our favourite Harrogate Hotel and one we will certainly be returning to soon. Also recommend The Montpellier pub for food. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely hotel with a very central location. We arrived on a sunny day and the bar within the hotel had a fantastic atmosphere with views overlooking parliament square. Room was clean and stylish. Convenient car park. Would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Thank you for your amazing 5 Star Review! We found the room very clean and comfortable. We did not breakfast or dine so cannot comment. Only draw back was parking ...... very tight in every sense of the word especially for those who have 4 wheel drive vehicles. We would recommend the Hotel to friends and having 'The Fat Badger' attached is an added bonus.

RDMWH, Manager at White Hart Hotel & Apartments, responded to this review
Thank you for taking your time to review us. I am glad you found our rooms clean; our housekeeping team are amazing. I am sorry you found our car park a little tight ; we are awaiting our lines to be re done due to the sun causing these to fade. We do hope you visit us soon. Kind Regards Fran

tonyE2615WI, Leicester, United Kingdom 15/05/2018

Superior room very well appointed and comfortable. My wife would have liked a full length mirror. The steps down to the bathroom were not mentioned when booking and could have been a problem for less mobile guests. Staff very cheery and helpful particularly at reception. Food good and fast service. Car parking very convenient but a bit pricey when one is already paying for room.

"A regular haunt for us!"

My husband and I have stayed at The White Hart regularly this year and found the standard consistently high. The restaurant is excellent.( we wish you would reintroduce the lamb rump to the menu- it was our favourite.) Our room has always been spotlessly keen attractively decorated with a modern bathroom and a comfy bed. On this occasion, because we were arriving late following attending a concert in Leeds, we had booked a small double on a special offer. We were delighted with the room allocated. It was not small! The only indication that it was a cheaper room was that it was at the back so there was no view. No problem to us as we arrived at night. Another excellent stay.

Elaine H, Immingham 10/05/2018

Just spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel, on arrival we were welcomed and given our room card, the hotel is tastefully decorated to a high standard and modern. Our room 212 was clean and well maintained, it is a good size comfortably fitting a double bed plus a sofa, chair and wardrobe with plenty of room to walk around. It is slightly to the right of the main entrance but we didn't experience any disturbance from the bar as it is the other end of the building which we really liked, The breakfast is superb and the staff very pleasant. We didn't use the bar or eat at the restaurant during our stay but could see that it is of a high standard. The hotel is ideally located for visiting the centre of Harrogate and benefits from its own car park, although a bit snug for larger vehicles it is a bonus for visitors knowing there is parking available. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the valley gardens which are lovely to walk through or carry on up to rhs harlow Carr. We would definately visit again.

BarnabasTJ, Canterbury, United Kingdom 30/04/2018

We very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel's location is superb and the bathroom in room 411 was excellent. The buttons on the shower selector were great for my wife who has arthritic fingers. On the other hand, we found the wardrobe very small for two people, but as we were only staying 2 nights we didn't need to unpack our suitcases. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well once we had managed to open a window and turn off the heating, which had been left set very high. Breakfast was very satisfactory although we are used to being given larger pots of coffee with our meal. At least we could ask for refills. The view from our window table was lovely. Parking in the hotel car park was very convenient and check-in and check-out were without any problem. The White Hart would be our first choice hotel if we were to come to Harrogate again.

"Mostly good"

Yategirl, Bristol 30/04/2018

The bed was very comfortable and the shower is lovely. When I arrived the room was very hot, radiator was on full blast and the sash window would not stay open. On checking in the staff were very keen to point out that there was 25% off of our first drink in the bar, which we took advantage of, only to find on checking out this had not reached the bill and the guy knew nothing about it as he didn't know how much the drinks should be. This was sorted but the same happened to my colleague, so if you don't check you don't get the discount. Parking fee is the dearest I have come across in Harrogate. Scrambled eggs at breakfast were inedible.

Booked a last minute one night stay in Harrogate and picked this hotel at random. The hotel was lovely and well worth paying for the breakfast. The hotel is situated in a great location right in the town centre and the Fat Badger pub within the hotel was just perfect for a snack or a meal. Would recommend this as a good hotel

I just stayed for one night in the White Hart and found the small double room ideal for one, might be "cosy" for two. Not pleased about the £12 per night charge for using the hotel car park but this seems to be common in Harrogate.

Nicely decorated room. Very comfortable. Great check in and check out. Very friendly staff. Really good position for town centre and points of interest. Full cooked breakfast not great, particularly for the price, though scrambled and poached eggs looked more appetizing. Overall a very pleasant stay and would certainly stay again.

Had a lovely weekend break in this lovely hotel...its very well placed by the centre of town...i had a few doubts about the hotel after reading some recent reviews but as soon as we arrived those doubts vanished...we stayed in the main building and the room we had was plenty big enough for us and comfortable,we didn't have any problems with noise from the bar(mainly because we were in it).....its a really nice bar with a great atmosphere and the Fat Badger restaurant is very good too,had a lovely dinner there on saturday evening....all the hotel staff were very helpful and all in all i would definitely stay again and recommend the hotel to friends...one very minor thing was the shower spray is fixed from the ceiling when a wall mounted spray on a flexi hose would be better, just my opinion of course??.....thankyou to The White Hart for being a great base for our weekend away

User 15/04/2018

Excellent from the start until the end Joao at the reception was our first impression on arrival. The same he served as a few drinks and he was an excellent host, very informative about Harrogate and places to visit. The next three days we had breakfast and it was great, freshly served by all the very professional staff. Lost of options on the menu, quick service and excellent choices. Parking was included in our fee and just behind the hotel within 3 minute walk to the hotel's lobby. On our last day we went to the Turkish baths and the hotel staff allowed us leave our luggage until our return. It was definitively an excellent experience and very pleasant stay. We will definitively stay again at the White Hart and recommended to all my friends and relatives.

We were upgraded to a 2 room apartment suite to make our stay more comfortable with 2 small children and it certainly was comfortable! Great facilities & even Costa capsules for the in room Nespresso. Great location and walking distance to the local parks, Betty's and shops/ eateries. The Fat Badger is a treat also.

"Very Pleasant Stay"

5
User 11/04/2018

I know the area well. I had been a bit apprehensive based on a previous experience with HRH . However, I had a lovely welcome from the charming young receptionist. Mine was an "executive room", in a more corporate but sophisticated style (rather than the eclectic/"funky"/(shabby?) look and ill-fitting sheets offered at Marmadukes Town House Hotel). Great breakfast, again, charming young staff. Parking can be had for £12 but I don't like hotel car parks and you can park quite easily in the street at no cost between 6pm and 9am (and for longer periods with a clock obtainable at the tourist office).

"Lovely stay and great value for money"

Had a very enjoyable stay at the White Hart Hotel. The hotel is well situated in the centre of Harrogate and has nice modern decor. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Would certainly book this hotel again as was reasonably priced.

"Not worth half the price they charge!! "

2
Tmb2901, Solihull, United Kingdom 10/04/2018

For the money they charge this hotel is not worth it! The room was tiny, and like a sauna even with the windows open - it wasn't a hot day either. However it was clean. The hotel was really noisy as it's right on the road and decor quite tired in the room. The breakfast was awful took 30mins to receive burnt toast and rock like eggs. Buffet consisted of some prunes and cornflakes. Parking is £12 even for guests but the location is good for walking around the town.

"The White Hart, Harrogate: what a find!"

A lovely hotel, very stylish, very comfortable. The staff were all friendly, courteous and helpful, and it was great to be able to welcome my daughter, who joined me in the restaurant for a very enjoyable supper. Super bedroom, with a huge bed and high quality bedding, great restaurant, easy, on-site parking and a brilliant location right in town. (There's a fitness room and beauty spa too, which I didn't use.) As a female staying alone, I felt very at ease, and would definitely stay here again.

Bethany B, Leeds, United Kingdom 04/04/2018

Arrived half an hour early and were greeted by friendly reception staff that checked us in a little bit earlier. The reception area/ lobby of the hotel is very nicely decorated with an updated cosy feel decor. We were allocated room 307 which was fairly modern and very clean. it also had a little sofa in which i liked. When we first checked in the room was freezing however once we arrived back later that night it had warmed up a lot. The room had a hairdryer, iron & iron board and a kettle but no cups / tea bags which wasn't a massive issue for us but was a bit strange. The bathroom had the usual amenities but the bath was quite small and shallow. The only issue we did have was the double bed was two single beds pushed together, the crack became very uncomfortable down the middle during the night. We didn't eat breakfast or dinner in the fat badger as it looked very busy ( you do get a voucher for 25% of your first round of drinks when you check in ) so we went out for our meals. The location is perfect and is a real benefit if you have plans within the town centre. Car parking was also £12.00.

RDMWH, Front Office Manager at White Hart Hotel & Apartments, responded to this review
Thank you for your review and comments. I am glad we managed to check you in early. Even though officially check in is 2pm where we can we do try and get our guests in as soon as we can! All our rooms do vary in size and shape and I do hope that you return and ask for one of our front facing rooms to enjoy a lovely stray view! I am sorry you didn't find the cups or tea bags they are in the draw under the kettle! A quick call to reception could have resolved this as we are around 24 hours a day! We do hope you book with us again and direct and next time enjoy some cheeky cocktails with your voucher! Kind Regards Fran

Hotel very central. Carpark hard to find tucked away round back, soon gets full. If you are lucky to get parked the charge is £12 per night. Reception staff very welcoming. We had a small delux room, small being the operative word, it was very clean and comfortable, but little space to unpack. . Having said that it had everything needed. The breakfast was served with a smile and plentiful. We would stay there again but choose a different room.

I generally stay for one night weekly and find the rooms and hotel generally to be clean and well maintained and I have a very pleasant experience each time I stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make the experience from check in to eating in the restaurant and checking out enjoyable and hassle free. The food and beverage offer is some of the best I've come across whilst staying in hotels and I like having the option of eating in the restaurant or the more casual bar. A really great place to stay!

Stayed for two nights mid week with my sister. We had a double twin in the main part of the hotel. Hotel kindly stowed our luggage on arrival in the morning so we could head out and make the most of our stay, likewise upon checkout. On checking in we were provided with a large, lovely styled room, furnishings very modern, albeit the room was cold due to the outside zero temperatures as I guess the heating system was quite old. On flagging this to reception John the GM immediately tried to rectify but rather than delay waiting for the room to warm up moved us straight away to an equally lovely room that was much warmer and even provided extra heaters. He made into a twin himself and invited us to the bar for coffee while we waited for him to do this. My sister was on medication, John and the team arranged for her meds to be stored in the kitchen fridge - in fact special mention must go to John the GM and Sarah in the Fat Badger for being so friendly and making our stay lovely, warm and welcoming they are both wonderful assets. The hotel is very central two minutes from Betty's and shops and is more like an eclectic boutique stay with impeccable service offering great value for money. Thank you.

"New mattress??"

User 25/03/2018

Stayed this weekend and after paying £152 for a double room with breakfast I found that they also want £12 per night parking!!!!! Double room yes, two single beds bolted together with the springs in the mattress visible on my side and stuck in my back all night....no!! Shower was pathetic with no power or flow although nicely fitted out. Breakfast was good and the Fat Badger bar was good.

We were working in Harrogate for two days mid week, there where at least 10 of us, we were upgraded to stay in the apartments which was lovely. Lovely new quality rooms, very comfy bed. Great breakfast and choice, of your in a rush in the am leave a while for breakfast as took a while to come as cooked to order. Only negative was that I left a do not disturb sign up on my door but it was ignored by the cleaner and she cleaned my room anyway.

"Hmmm. Ok I suppose."

Clinging on to being a hotel The White Hart misses most of the best bits of modern living. No air con, no real bar area and I couldn't help but expect Basil Fawlty to jump out from around the corner. He didn't, cos it's not that interesting.

"Disappointing Stay"

2
asbmcintosh, Yarm, United Kingdom 17/03/2018

Husband booked as a 'birthday surprise', paid additional monies for superior room, however 'box room' was better description. We could not pass each other in the room, four poster frame took up most of the room, mattress was too small for frame. Posts also obscured the tv, there was one chair in the room situated in a corner would have given you a neck strain! Reception was cold, dark, dingy and uninviting. We booked to go to The Ivy for dinner. Arrived back at hotel to noisy, rowdy bar, ordered drinks and went back to our room. Floorboards creaked on every spot in the room, and that included upstairs rooms too. Breakfast - well, having to wait in drafty corridor until the man finished playing with his iPad, to allocate a table - surely looking in the room is more practical. After waiting an eternity for someone to take our order, it arrived cold and average at best. We checked out, wasn't asked if we enjoyed our stay! Told we had to pay £12 for parking overnight - outrageous, this should be include in the room rate. All in all we will never return to this hotel - which is disappointing considering the only positive thing was the central location in a lovely town. Staff clearly need much training and look miserable to be employed there.

"Lovely little hotel"

Emma G, Leeds 17/03/2018

Stayed 1 night in the four poster bed room. Bed was very comfy and good size. Staff were friendly. Only complaint would be that the shower is too low, espically when me and my partner are both 6ft, having to bend down in the shower isnt ideal.

Stayed here before, last time we had one of the suites in the attached building which was great. This time we were in the main building. Room was small but fine. Very clean. Food was good and staff were good. The bar is excellent, really good place to go to. We love this hotel!

"Great value "

User 15/03/2018

Booked 2 rooms. Both rooms were excellent and so was the hotel. 1 of the rooms was overlooking the front and was spot on. The other overlooked huge extractors which were on all night and you could hear the horrendous noise even with the window closed. Definitely worth staying there if you book a front room. Great value for money and good location with onsite parking. ( view from rear window below showing huge extractors ) Keith ( Cleethorpes )

"So disappointing"

Colette B, Sutton in Ashfield, United Kingdom 15/03/2018

On arrival we were told we weren't staying in the hotel but in a separate building a little way up the hill from the hotel...we had not been aware that this might be a possibility before we booked - I wouldn't have booked if this had been made clear. This separate building felt like some random apartments block that was unmanned, a souless, collection of bedrooms, we didn't see anyone in the building, although we heard all the banging doors! We had to walk down to the hotel for breakfast, not much fun in the rain! Tiled stairs down to the bathroom felt dangerous and I don't know about you, but I prefer a door on my bathroom! There was a sky light over the stairs for which you had to be 8 feet tall to reach the blind to close it, and it flooded the bedroom with light as soon as the sun rose. Then there were the part used toiletries....enough said. We picked the hotel because of its character and location- it's a shame we didn't feel like we stayed there.

"2 night stay, nice hotel & gorgeous place ??"

5
User 12/03/2018

We was bought a 2 night stay in Harrogate at the White Hart Hotel for Christmas! We arrived on the Friday night, swift check in, and the reception staff were lovely! We had a room on the second floor, offered the paper and wake up call - of course had to decline due to needing much beauty sleep!! The rooms were clean, nice and spacious. Floorboards a little creaky and doors do bang when you forget to close them quietly. You can also hear the above room when they walk. Although these are minor things to us, they can be major to others. The beds were comfy, room service immaculate and great to see local products being used in the bathroom! Bathroom was very nice, big and a great powerful shower which is always a bonus!! The hotel itself houses a beautiful restaurant called the Fat Badger ?? classic! And the food is decent too!! It is a stones through away from the centre and you can walk pretty much anywhere in close proximity. Breakfast in the hotel was nice, not amazing but a good spread with some nice flavours. Shame there was no cream cheese for the toast but I suppose we can't all be snobbish like me!! I do love a good cream cheese toast though ???? All in all the hotel was very nice, friendly, warm and inviting. The rooms were spotless, well maintained and just the slight annoyance of hearing everyone's conversations it was a good stay! Would recommend! Thanks for the hospitality!

"Average for price"

3
User 11/03/2018

Good location for visiting Harrogate and for me that is where the positives end really. Again like other reviewers found reception staff uninterested and not helpful at all. The car park facilities are a joke and expensive where we found the Montpellier shopping car park near to be half the price. Never understand why a paying patron at a hotel pays parking anyway. Room was clean but again for the price I found it dull, dark and uninspiring. Not cheap either. Breakfast was average at best and once seated we were forgotten about. Think next time I visit Harrogate I'll stay somewhere else

This is a quirky place and really we did not find the staff friendly at all.The bedrooms are modern its little things that let it down. Dressing table and mirror if front of the TV not good when your Husband is watching TV while you spend an hour getting ready.

The location of the hotel was central for us and our plans for the weekend. We had a deluxe room which we found to be quite basic and cold. We were given a heater after complaining which helped warm the room but would expect a 4* hotel to check this prior to check in. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was ok......we had to advise staff to replenish the orange juice and croissants. We also had to wait five minutes for a table to be cleaned and set up prior to being seating. We had a few drinks in The Fat Badger.....again cold in there but blankets were provided on an evening.

"Lovely hotel building. Poor dated rooms"

3
User 21/02/2018

We booked last minute to stay here as had another hotel originally booked. When we arrived we were really impressed with the hotel from the outside. The reception, bar and restaurant are really impressive, very grand and classy looking. Unfortunately the rooms let this hotel down. Room on a slope and very dated. Bathroom/shower was old fashioned and in general quite shabby. We had a massive gap in the front door to corridor and could hear every noise. Person above awake at 5am moving around could hear every creak and movement. Such a shame as hotel is lovely. We aren't in our room very much when we go away only to sleep and get ready so we put up with it but would not recommend staying here if you like to spend time in your room or are expecting a 4* room

Bikerboy40, Teesside 20/02/2018

Lovely hotel, well established and equipped. Gym, Spa and Hair Salon. Good location with easy walk into town. Room was at top of hotel, nice décor, but did not reflect the rooms showed in the promotional photos. Restaurant looked good, but didn't eat there (Breakfast was an extra £12.95). Fat Badger pub attached to hotel was also very good. Great selection of drinks and cocktails. Didn't try the food though. Note the £6/night parking on top. Definitely recommended and will be back.

Our room was supposedly a ‘suite' - it was a box room with a bathroom attached. The room itself was clean and modern, however, there was very little storage space for two people, resulting in us using the ironing board as extra storage! Breakfast was average, parking expensive and room small. We won't be staying here again.

"Brilliant proper food"

User 17/02/2018

An excellent menu with excellent range of choice. The food is served in excellent time by brilliant staff. The food itself is quite frankly faultless. Simple food, cooked really well, resulting in great flavours. A great time was had by all. Will definitely recommend this restaurant and hotel to everyone wanting to stay in Harrogate.

Thank you for the great review. We are so lucky to have such a great restaurant on site with us and I'm glad to hear you found the food to your liking! We hope to see you again soon.

"A welcome display of human kindness"

fightingfit, Yorkshire, United Kingdom 12/02/2018

I booked a stay at The White Hart for my parents at the end of 2016 for a stay in early 2017. Sadly due to family illness, we had to cancel this and reschedule it for them twice in 2017 and were finally only able to go in early 2018. Having dealt with a few 'computer says no' kind of customer service representatives in the past, it was totally refreshing and welcome to have this issue dealt with on two occasions in a humane way. When my parents finally did arrive, Fran had ensured they had a great room and they had a great stay from beginning to end. They loved the room and commented how nice it was that all the staff were so friendly. We had Sunday lunch in the pub and the food was great and the staff were first class and really friendly. We didn't have the best stay when we stayed at The White Hart in 2017 which I'll now write off as bad luck. The way this issue was dealt with in such a humane way will mean that I'd be happy to stay again at The White Hart and recommend it to others as personal human customer service is quite rare. Thank you.

I booked a stay here trough late rooms, I had checked out reviews before booked and it's seemed ok. We checked in and were given the keys to our room which was in the neighbouring property. We arrived at the room to discover it was just that ‘a room' - I double checked my booking and yes it did in fact say in the small print separate bathroom (which was along a corridor from the room and would have been a dash in the small towels provided). We asked reception to change our room which they did and we were informed that our new room would be smaller. New room at last had an attached bathroom. Rooms are clean and new (in the Montpellier house) facilities are ok, nothing special. The rooms are pretty much what you would expect for a chain hotel and quite bland. Not sure if I would bother staying here again, for the money the travel lodge or a premier inn is about the quality your getting.

RDMWH, Front Office Manager at White Hart Hotel & Apartments, responded to this review
Thank you for your review. This is a perfect example of why it is always best to book direct with us to gain a better description of the room booked as we are limited to how a third party lists us! Not only that but it also is the best rate available to you! We do have 3 rooms in our new building Montpelier House which are superior rooms however they are a exclusive bathroom to the guest but not en suite; we do price this competitively and also try upgrade where we can. I am sorry to hear you may not stay with us again but would hope you would re consider and call us direct to discuss the best options for you! Kind Regards Fran

Good quality rooms but most only with shower. We stayed in the appartment annex as we requested a bath. Great pub the Fat Badger attached , a little pricey but great atmosphere. Small car park for which there is a charge which I think should be free for guests, but otherwise a great hotel in an excellent location and very helpful staff.

"A Harrogate Break"

4
Chris L, Ripon, United Kingdom 08/02/2018

The two night break was extremely good value as long as viewed as a base to discover Harrogate. The room didn't encourage stopping in as it was "on the small side" although very clean and well equipped. As always the addition of the Fat Badger Pub/bar was a real bonus; buzzy welcoming and well run....thanks Jaks! This was our 5 or 6th visit and there will be more!

Only writing this review because I keep getting emails asking me to do so! Nice enough room with a good view. Bath is tiny and not very clean. Biggest fault was that when we went down for breakfast we were told they had stopped serving at 9.30 (it was 9.40). When I asked where this information was available we were told 'in the lift', which we hadn't used. I pointed this out and they said it was on the sheath of the key card, which it isn't. The only mention of it is in fact on a small sheet of paper in our room amongst other sheets of paper. We were given a cold coffee and some crosissants with jam, but no cutlery. Generally seemed pretty disorganised and not particularly friendly.

"Beautiful hotel but the staff let it down"

Allison M, Bishop Auckland, United Kingdom 04/02/2018

I booked to stay here with my Niece late last year for a little shopping trip so we decided on and booked the luxury twin room. We were both quite excited just to get some quality time away and do some Christmas shopping at the same time. Firstly we checked in with no problems, they have parking facilities at the back of the hotel where you can leave your car but be warned they do charge £15 a day. The room was lovely and warm, very clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space to hang your clothes and other facilities such as an iron, hair dryer, kept etc. The bathroom was lovely & clean with etched glass windows, we didn't shower till quite late maybe about 10.30/11pm however it came to our attention the next day that the etched window wasn't as etched as we thought so for future reference for new visitors, close the blind in the bathroom! We discovered the next morning that the window was only partially etched and the rest was steam from the shower ?? We had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant and as I'm vegetarian I asked the waitress about the pasta dishes, I eventually settled on one from the recommendation of the waitress which was a mildly spiced, I did tell her I don't like spicy food but she said it was barely noticeable so I took her advice and ordered it. Big mistake, what's mild to one person obviously isn't mild to another and I took one forkful and couldn't eat anymore, I told the restaurant manager but he still charged me anyway. The next morning we went down for breakfast at the same restaurant & we got seated pretty much straight away, we patiently waited for 20 minuets before our order was taken for both food and lattes, we eventually got the coffee but it wasn't what we ordered, it was just black coffee with milk so we returned them thinking our lattes would soon follow, wrong. Cutting a very long story short we were in the restaurant for 50 minuets and had the wrong breakfast brought to us and another wrong coffee which we had to ask about but we still didn't receive our lattes or the right breakfast, disgusting. They were without doubt busy but they seemed to have plenty of staff on, one waiter didn't even come back to our table after apologising & promising he'd find out what was going on. I complained about the breakfast and also about the evening meal and after a lot of complaining I eventually got a refund for both. On the whole it didn't really spoil our trip because we just ate elsewhere but it was such a shame because the hotel was lovely and comfortable but I do feel I really don't want to return but if I ever do go back there I definitely won't be eating in the restaurant.

"Impersonal but comfy beds"

3
snorters1, worcs 04/02/2018

We stayed here when visiting Harrogate for a trip down memory lane. Room (207) was very clean and bed was comfy but shouldn't be classed as a double as the bed is so close to the wall on one side. The tv if you want to watch it can only be done from the bed as the sofa in the room can't be positioned to enable you to sit on it comfortably. The tea and coffee making facilities are basic, many bed and breakfasts provide much higher quality beverages and don't charge as much. The ensuite is small but has everything you need and the shower was great. The towels are large and fluffy. The breakfast was ok plenty of choice but the coffee is very poor. We had plenty to do in Harrogate so the hotel wasn't somewhere we spent a huge amount of time but if you wanted to do that I would look for an alternative. The hotel is well located and you don't need necessarily need your car as everything is within walking distance but the parking charge is very steep and had we noticed this when we booked we may have looked elsewhere. The staff are helpful but weren't the friendliest which is unusual in Harrogate.

User 22/01/2018

We booked this as a last minute post Xmas get away we wanted somewhere that was easily accessible and within walking distance of the town centre just so we could have a few lazy days. The hotel is a stone's throw from the centre making it easily accessible to shopping & entertainment. There is a great bar on site with a restaurant too and although we didn't dine in the restaurant the feedback from those who had was positive. The bar has average prices and a good vibe. The hotel itself is modern with a quirky art deco theme throughout, rooms were clean and well serviced. The only downside for us was that the walls between rooms were paper thin as we discovered when we were rudely awakened at 3am! That said I would definitely stay again but just remember my earplugs !

"A review of two halves"

Trainers1, London 09/01/2018

We stayed for one night in a deluxe double room as the hotel was really convenient for our goddaughter's 18th birthday party. We had a very nice welcome from the reception staff, who carefully explained the facilities. The room was very small but beautifully decorated. Very comfy bed and pillows (we took off the covers to check what make, as they were so super). The hotel is really centrally located - about 7 minutes' walk from the station and close to the shops. As others have noted, the back-facing rooms have terrible views: ours was of the BT OpenReach depot. We were glad to stay at the weekend as we supposed that a weekday stay could mean lots of early morning traffic movement. Our main concern, however, was the bathroom. There's a little heated towel rail in there, but no other heating - and last weekend when we woke up it showed -2 degrees on my phone's temperature reading. The hotel is heated throughout by an old radiator system, but to have no heating in the bathroom really wasn't great in the current weather conditions. (I know that's a first world problem, but given the standard of the decor etc, it was just out of kilter). The shower wasn't a power shower and had very little pressure, offering little more than a dribble of water. The temperature gauge on the shower said it was set at 38 degrees. Now that's the same as our shower at home - which runs a lot warmer so it wasn't lovely to get out of a fairly cold shower into a very cold room. There's also nowhere to put shampoo etc in the shower cubicle itself. The shower wasn't a great experience all in all. We thought the last two aspects were a real shame, given the comfort levels of the bed and the standard of decoration. Finally, breakfast is lovely - especially the sausages but we'd be very reluctant to stay in a room with a freezing bathroom over the winter months.

Stayed for a night in January with my wife and found the hotel staff to be friendly and the general ambience of the place good. Our room (209) was small but well decorated however the problem was the creaky floor in the room above??! It wasn't a restful nights sleep and when I mentioned it to the receptionist in the morning she had obviously been told to give the response that it was an old building. Also went for a drink in the bar and didn't get a great negroni which was annoying. Overall an average stay, maybe it was just the one room with the creaky floor however if I had paid the full rate I would score it lower.

User 03/01/2018

The staff were friendly we had a lovely evening meal but when we went to bed the room was very hot so we opened the window only to discover that we were above the outlet vents for the kitchen which were incredibly noisy. I felt that this could have been mentioned before we were given the room. When I mentioned it at checkout the lady said if we had complained they would have moved us. It was a shame really as we had enjoyed everything else about the stay. We also felt that charging £12 for the car park was a lot.

svbeatson, Sheffield, United Kingdom 02/01/2018

We booked the New Year's package for New Year's Eve 2017. We were delighted with our Deluxe Twin Room, in the main hotel, which had all the hallmarks of having been recently refurbished to a high standard. The New Year's Eve meal was of a similar high standard, and the service was particularly good, and friendly. In fact the staff are one of the hotel's major assets. Thank you, White Hart, for making our New Year's Eve 2017 so memorable.

I paid for a gift voucher as a present for Christmas... to say I am disappointed is an understatement. The voucher arrive stuck inside the envelope with no information on the hotel or brochure . I've spoken to the hotel and they said they don't do brochures as everything is done on line and their attitude was very dismissive... I would suggest they review the voucher process and how they are sent out!!!! As now I have a very poor looking present..

Hotel is perfectly located with the added bonus of parking on site but beware it's fairly pricey and there isn't that much discount for being a hotel guest vs public parking. We stayed in the apartments in the building next door and these were new, clean and functional. Overall nothing to really say that was disappointing but also nothing that was out of the ordinary. Def not worth the hefty price tag of £200+ for the night.

I booked a 2 night stay for what I considered a fair price for the time of year but although the information is available if you look for it, which I did not do prior to booking, I was very disappointed to discover that parking in the hotel's own car park is an extra £12 per day, payment for this was taken with the payment for the stay when we checked in. We had been upgraded from a double to a king size bed, the room was small but the decor was fresh and the bed comfortable, the bathroom looks as if it has been newly fitted and was spotless with nice toiletries and big bath towels, however there was a very distinct damp smell that was somewhat offputting! The view from the window across the green was nice and the festive lights were very pretty. The hotel is about 7 mins walk to town. We had cocktails in the pub and ate in the restaurant both of which were very good
