Booked a small double which was okay for the price but it was very difficult to locate with many stairs and not accessible by the lift. The receptionist kindly gave us another room which was a standard double in a better location. We were happy with the size of the room and shower room although the shower pressure wasn't good. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities adequate however a bottle of water would have been nice (there was no mini bar). Hotel is in a great location with all shops, bars and restaurants within a short walk. Didn't have breakfast so cant comment on that.
Love the Yorkshire stayed several times over the last few years always had a great experience in the past. Stayed in Room 326 a standard small room nothing wrong with the room size but the so called bathroom shoe box is a joke. Small shower with 15” space to the facing sink. A tiny toilet alcove you have to step back to open the door. Asked for a quiet room this is not one woken up the first morning 28/09/23 at 5.30am by the bin men emptying local skips behind the room area. Then noise of bins pulled around and bottles being emptied from the night before. Informed reception nothing done. Second morning woken up again at 6.13am by bins dragged around and bottles being emptied again. 13 air-con units facing the window. If you want a good sleep do not stay in these rooms at the rear of the hotel. Emailed duty managed didn't even have the courtesy to respond. Great to get home for a good nights sleep.
The rooms really are not of great quality. Considering the prices they charge there are considerably better options around Harrogate. Don't bother trying to run a bath it will take for ever and then it will only be luke warm. If everywhere else is booked up then have a go, otherwise plenty of other options in the area.
Lovely hotel amazing location . Stayed in room 111 it was beyond hot the water pressure was awful and we had this light/ window above the bed we couldn't turn off . Only 1 night stay didn't get good sleep they do provide fans but still overly hot for me and my partner . Addressed it with reception when checking out and the man was lovely apologised and gave us info if we stay again book directly via hotel . Harrogate was such a nice pretty place really enjoyed it . Loads of pay and display parking outside hotel . Didn't eat at hotel but bar was very nice and inexpensive aswell compared to other bars around area
Generally nice hotel, well located in central Harrogate, although parking is a little difficult. It was difficult to find out what size the beds were in the different room configurations as they were not specified on the hotel website and check-in staff didn't know what 'King Size' meant! Room rather small but bathroom large. Shower screen was missing a part which could have allowed it to come off its runners. Overall a good value stay for the price paid, but hardly the claimed 4-star quality.
I phoned The Yorkshire to book a standard double room with walk-in shower for one night. The price given was £287.10, a lot more expensive than the Hilton Double Tree where we stayed previously. I wrongly assumed that the very high price indicated high quality. As many other reviews have said about other similar rooms, our room was small, had no lift access, it involved two sets of stairs up and down, it was dark, stuffy, like a dungeon. The window opens only 10 cm. Staff walked frequently past the backyard where the dustbins are, there was noise of bottles being thrown in bins until quite late in the night, besides the constant noise of ventilators or some kind of motors just outside our window. The walk-in shower has no guards, nowhere at all to hold on to, no place for the soap and shampoo, simply quite dangerous. It would be fair if, at the time of booking, we were given a description of the very strange and unpleasant peculiarities of the room. We would then be able to make a decision. The receptionist was not exactly sympathetic when we pointed out we were very dissatisfied. We were told there was no other room available and we could not cancel it, so we were forced to accept it. She offered two complimentary breakfasts in compensation. I wrote to the Manager asking his comments on the fact that a large and elegant looking hotel can offer such a dreadful room and at such a high price, as I certainly didn't want anybody else to be mislead. The Manager's reply indicated that he had not read my letter properly and assumed I was complaining about other things. He offered a refund of 10%, and a 10% reduction on a future stay, knowing full well that we would never again stay at The Yorkshire. We had the most unpleasant night and a careless response from the hotel management.
I arrived in Harrogate a day earlier than arranged for my Accommodation at a different Hotel which could not Accommodate me last night . Very Fortunately I secured a Wonderful Upgrade ,as I am a Best Western Loyalty Member . I can not Complement the Reception Staff Enough . Both Yvonne & Tonto made my Check in experience memorable. That ALL Hotels would be fortunate enough to have employees like Yvonne & Tonto .
Excellent location and all staff helpful ,cheerful and efficient ,great bar on the premises and nice seating area outside on the grass , would definitely stay here again when visiting Harrogate in the future and would recommend it to anyone
Check in was a tad disorganised when we arrived, no disabled parking reserved, couldnt find the booking ,but we got our room in the end. I had upgraded to a standard double and I shudder to think how a small double is designed. The standard room is described as cosy, but I found it very small. The bathroom was a good size. The room was stiflingly hot due to the heatwave, there was a fan provided. Unfortunately it didnt cool the room down. We had to cut our visit short due to being so uncomfortable and not being able to sleep due to the temperature. AC is probably not usually needed during a Yorkshire September, but with the threat of hotter months to come it has made me think carefully next time I book a hotel to check it has air con. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was plentiful. Husband had a cooked b'fast which he enjoyed. Bar was lively as full of conference delegates, but staff efficient and knowledgeable. Really conveniently situated for shops, parks etc . Lots of onstreet parking, Blue badge holders are able to park anywhere in Harrogate. Restaurant staff at breakfast very friendly and helpful. It's self service which was fine. Coffee wasn't the best, but that was the only criticism of breakfast.
GOOD. Perfect location for town centre Spacious well appointed room with lovely shower room and a super view of the immaculate flower beds and lawn. Lovely comfortable beds. BAD. The staff do not engage with guests, probably because they can't distinguish between guests and the public who vastly outnumber guests. The differencebeing that guests Are paying to be there, the public aren't. Adjacent to reception is the only comfortable lounge which is very small but nicely carpeted and furnished. It opens to a small outside balcony with three tables. The doors were open and the lounge was treated to wafts of cigarette smoke despite the Hotel being «strictly non smoking». UGLY. Disabled access is woefully inadequate. The entrance is up a flight of stairs with no indication of location of wheelchair access. I was left with my wheels whilst my wife went to Find out how I got in. We were directed to the back of the building (felt like being sent to the tradesmans entrance). We found the elegantly named Pickled Sprout pub which was packed. We found the ramp only to be confronted by an occupied table thoughtlessly blocking the bottom of the ramp. We made the tortuous trek Around people and tables, through a dining area where people were eating, and eventually found reception. The lifts Are so small that there was room for my wheels and my wife had to squash in. Not a good experience. THE TABLE BLOCKING THE RAMP REMAINED IN PLACE THROUGHOUT OUR STAY
Felt this was good value as everything was of good standard and service was excellent. Staff seem to be happy in their work and want customers to have a good time. Reception and breakfast teams- both were efficient and helpful both were friendly. The parking bays outside also worked well - putting us right at the centre with no hassle. Also breakfast is on the 5th floor -so you start the day with great views. My husband enjoyed a good light lunch on the attractive terrace at the front.Enjoyed our visit - happy customers.
Lovely stay - excellent customer service and attention to detail. Ben in reception gave us such a lovely warm welcome after a long journey- nothing was too much trouble - thank you Ben for making our stay extra special. I loved the decor and the little candles lit on an evening- these are the little touches that really added to our stay. It's like the premises are looked after with real love and care. Thank you xx
We just had a couple of nights here, The hotel is in a great spot, Literally 1 minute from the famous Bettys Tea rooms, 5 minutes from numerous shops and resteraunts, 10 minutes from Baths, conference centre etc. Lovely friendly staff; gorgeous breakfast served in the top floor breakfst room with wonderful views over the town. We had 2 single rooms which were a bit on the small size I thought, All in all a lovely couple of days. Harrogate itself is a lovely old town. I wish we had stayed longer
Want to thank The Yorkshire staff so much for looking after my parents on a recent visit. We regularly use this hotel and felt confident that mum and dad would be able to stay here on their own. The staff were so helpful and friendly and went over and above to make sure that they were very well looked after during their stay. Cannot thank you enough! We'll be back soon.
I couldn't be more annoyed, the reception is great, the bar staff are good but the food leaves a lot to be desire. The Soufflé resembled a pancake twice cooked or not or was disgusting and served up cold, the chef thought it was funny and had no idea on how to cook a twice cooked soufflé. To be fair the main course was a bit better and acceptable. Do yourselves available, don't take the English Breakfast package. All English breakfast is served buffet style, is served cold and congealed. A disgusting mess where everything is cold Reception staff great, rooms great . , bar staff friendly but the food is sick, cold and inedible
Fantastic stay at the Yorkshire, I was hesitant due to the mixed reviews but the risk paid off as it was a much better than expected stay. Excellent value for money, we had a junior suite. It had a strange layout, not a great view but we had a great nights sleep as it was quiet and had a very comfortable bed. We had a very nice dinner upon arrival in the garden room which was lovely. The complimentary tea and biscuits was a great addition. It's in a good location for the Harrogate stadium, restaurants, shops and supermarkets. We didn't get a parking space out front as they are limited but we actually saved money using the local street parking. Would highly recommend and definitely return for a fantastic stay in Harrogate.
My room was dark hot and claustrophobic, overlooking a central space and no view except of enclosed space .woken by noisy kitchen staff at 6am but hadnt slept as room too hot. No breakfast at the hotel as you have to book but glad I didnt as reviews of the food are poor Would stay at hotel du vin next time
We booked a romantic weekend away in Harrogate and thought this hotel would be perfect for the location and class of hotel. How wrong we were ! The hotel has a nice welcoming reception area but unfortunately our room (316) was not great. What we thought we were getting was a room similar to the picture on Booking.com. What we got was a dire dark room with a view overlooking an inner courtyard with the kitchen stacks in full view. We went to reception immediately but was told the hotel was fully booked on both nights we there. We were advised to book a deluxe double the next time we visited. Which I thought didn't help our current situation. Having spent over £200 per night. Breakfast is not great either. Just average. Orange juice was nearly always empty or there was no glasses.
We were in Harrogate for just one night and wanted to stay somewhere central, so chose The Yorkshire, which is beautifully located. (Especially for Betty's Tearooms!). We arrived far too early to check in but were allowed to park right outside the hotel so we could then go out to explore on foot. When we returned a few hours later, it was still early but the receptionist checked to see if our room was ready and when she found it was, we were able to check in. We booked a king room which is absolutely beautiful, large and spacious with high ceilings, a glorious window and balcony. Comfortable arm chairs as well as a comfortable bed. The thing which let the room down were the showers. The en-suite has a double shower: two overhead showers each with an additional hand set shower. One had a broken control knob so I couldn't even turn it on, and I found it impossible to achieve a comfortable temperature on the other; it was either much too hot or a bit too cool. In the end, I had a cool shower. I mentioned this when we checked out the next day and was asked if I had asked for help at the time - I hadn't but there is no telephone in the room and I was already in the shower by the time the problem became apparent. The receptionist did then concede that other customers had experienced difficulties with the controls. This is such a shame because the room itself was really beautiful. We ate that evening in the hotel restaurant, service was quite slow though it was friendly and the food itself was fine. Breakfast the next morning is served in a different area completely - this is really nice because you're not eating in a bar ‘the morning after' and also it has super views over Harrogate and so shouldn't be missed. We enjoyed our stay at The Yorkshire but the difficulties with the shower might put me off going back.
Good but not great, location is amazing right in the centre, managed to get a parking space on the front so that was a bonus... I upgraded to a Junior suite (room 501) and was pretty disappointed with it, very narrow, strange lay out... Shower started freezing then went to lava and couldn't get it to any sort of comfortable temperature- limited number of shower gel/ soap etc. View was poor.. Breakfast was at the sky bar on the 5th floor, nice Breakfast plenty of choice, good views of Harrogate definitely sets you up for the day Restaurant and bar is really good, reasonably priced drinks and a nice atmosphere with everything on your doorstep Overall, probably would try somewhere else next time although the location is fantastic.
We returned to the Yorkshire after a great experience In 2021 where my partner paid for a deluxe room with a balcony and we loved it! This time we paid for a standard room which was still £195. We were disappointed to walk in our room and see no windows and no natural light . The room was boiling and dark. We straight away went down to reception with our concerns stating we would like to move rooms but this was declined due to the hotel being full and nothing was done to help with this situation. There was a fan in the wardrobe which worked very poorly and for the time we spend in the room it was too hot to stay in and we had to leave and could not enjoy the room. For nearly £200 I was very disappointed and the staff showed no concern when I expressed this to them. Really surprised on this from the great experience we had before but I would be worried to book again incase we got one of these rooms
Reception staff were disinterested and lacked any people skills. The room was very grey and dull, nothing like the photos. The view of the Stray was spoilt by the dirty windows. The sash windows didn't shut properly and let in the noise of constant passing traffic. The door had wide gaps top and bottom so the light from the corridor kept us awake as did the noise of everybody passing by. The shower was so feeble I had to rinse my hair in the sink. The WiFi signal was very weak and one night completely non existent. Really disappointing.
Friendly, well located hotel. It looks to have been recently refurbished and the rooms were very clean. The staff were very helpful and welcomed us warmly. Check in and check out were both very efficient. The downsides were that the room was backing onto a yard and low down so not much privacy, and the TV didn't work.
Room was lovely and breakfast choice and staff great. However the reception desk needs an overhaul or better training for some of their staff. On arrival there was a muddle over the booking and the room was not ready, we had arrived just before 4 p.m. The written confirmation/cost for the room did not match the amount I was asked to pay on arrival. - it was more. When I queried this the receptionist gave some very confused answers (e.g. the cost in 2024 is more than 2023) and gave me a business card for the duty managers and told me to contact them directly. When I asked why he couldn't do this he said they didn't have access to a direct line! The towel radiators were not working and the bathroom was freezing cold, we brought this to their attention to be told the hotel did not have heating on during summer months. Their approach to customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
Some of the reviews on here just don't match out experience. The hotel was impeccably clean, it's a stunning looking building and the room we stayed in was huge. It was so nice and it couldn't have been situated better for the city centre bars and restaurants. I can't speak highly enough of the staff, especially a lady on reception named Yvonne. I have already booked another stay I was that impressed. Well done the Yorkshire Hotel
The hotel is well located in the town of Harrogate. The reception team were friendly and helpful and check-in was easy. I didn't eat in the hotel as I wanted to have a short walk to a restaurant and get some fresh air. The hotel's central location enabled me to do that. I was only staying for 1 night and so the small room (which was clean and tidy) didn't bother me but the bathroom was tiny. I'm not tall and I'm not overweight but even I found it difficult to use. Parking spaces at the hotel are limited in number. I did get one but I felt £15 for overnight parking was a high price.
Beautiful building, beautiful interior. We have been to Best Westerns in the past and I would describe the majority of them as comfortable and adequate. This one however is part of their premium hotels and it is gorgeous. We stayed in a junior suite which was very spacious and comfortable. I do have one small suggestion though, having a still and sparkling bottle of water in the room is a small finishing touch but it means a lot, the lack of water in the room made it feel a little less premium. I would however choose this hotel again when visiting Harrogate.
Stayed for three nights whilst attending Yorkshire show. Hotel a bit tired in places. We booked a double deluxe room, with a request for quiet room. couldn't see anything deluxe. Room was quite small, we were at the front of the hotel, view was lovely, but it certainly wasn't quiet, with traffic and revellers noise throughout the night. We had a good deal as I booked months ago, and looking at prices before we arrived the room was £200 more expensive than we paid, so perhaps this wasn't a deluxe room I wonder. Marks on furniture, bedside tables and dressing table. Windows were not double glazed, explains the noise. I noted comments on no AC, thankfully it wasn't hot when we were there, but it must be awful in hot weather as the room got full sun, equally in colder months I imagine condensation could be an issue. Bathroom was small but adequate, no grab rails for us older visitors, my husband felt unsafe getting in/out so didn't use it. Breakfast OK, buffet style, cold selection was poor, no cheeses/meats, cold fresh fruit, Food not hot but lukewarm which is infuriating. Staff were excellent, particularly bar staff and breakfast room staff. Not sure if there was a lounge, I couldn't see one, no where to sit if you wanted to relax before going to your room. Needs some investment before we could be tempted back. Doesn't rate 4* in our opinion.
Lovely stay for 2 nights. Staff all friendly. Dinner in pickled sprout restaurant lovely and Sunday set menu good value for money. Breakfast items all good quality and view amazing. The only thing that let breakfast down was room set up. You had to walk to far end of function room through a cloakroom/storage area for stacked chairs past a bar. This just detracted in my opinion from having a really nice breakfast in a 4 star hotel.
5 star service and quality for 3 star prices. The whole staffing team are so friendly and efficient. They are a great advert for Yorkshire hospitality. The location right in the heart of the town could not be bettered
Great location in central Harrogate, ideal for station, bars, restaurants and shops. We had a room on the first floor overlooking the street with all the bars on and right above the hotel bar so it was very noisy. There is no air con and the window only opened a few inches. The room was always boiling hot so it was hard to sleep. Room was ok, bathroom was tiny. Would stay again but for a higher room on the front.
Had a standard double room, it was a good size with a large shower and toilet. It was clean and tidy and was a comfortable place to stay for 5 nights. Was at the back of the hotel so unfortunately not a great view though and the website made a big deal of free H2K toiletries in every room, these did not exist, which annoyed me as it was the deal breaker for me booking; a little bit of promised luxury that was a lie! All cleaning staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful although this could not really be said for receptionists who I felt ignored me and were not helpful (until I met Irene on my 2nd last day). Location of the hotel is excellent for shops, cafes, restaurants, walks and even nipping to bus or train station for day trips. I had 1 meal at the hotel's restaurant 'The Pickled Sprout' and it was excellent, I would recommend it, however, the breakfast was not worth the £13.95 cost despite the awesome view from the Skybar area where breakfast is served.
I visited this hotel last weekend , One of the best hotels I've stayed in was welcomed by a lovely lady on the Friday night , went out and visited around Harrogate to then go to the breakfast room where they had the best food I've had in a while. Was approached by a lovely staff member with brown hair I believe but didn't have the time to catch her name she offering if we need anything and making sure everything was okay.
Stayed last night and it was a very enjoyable experience. The hotel is easy to find in the centre of town with plenty of off street parking. The welcome was exceptional, such a kind receptionist. Room was huge more like a suite really , Spotless and nice and warm. We had tea downstairs supplied again by superb staff. Friendly and professional. Slept well, hardly any noise in the hotel. Breakfast is mainly a buffet but they cooked some perfectly done eggs to have with toast. Ideal for exploring the town and surroundings, shame it was raining and blowing a gale. We will be back in better weather.
Went for a two night stay after Christmas. Great hotel and right in the middle of the town. Rooms are old but spotless. Parking is expensive (£15 per night) but would not use that as a negative against the hotel as everything else is pretty much spot on.
We stayed one night, bed and breakfast on 18th January 2023. All the staff were polite and friendly and we were were shown straight to our rooms although it was well before check in time. Both rooms were spacious with walk in showers. The king size bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was nice and served in the restaurant on the top floor with views over Harrogate. So a very good stay at a reasonable price. We'll stay there again.
Convenient for all forms of public transport, a comfortable town centre hotel giving an excellent business and leisure base. No need for a car, enjoy your stay the car-free, care-less way ....................................................... I'm not wasting time on 100 extra unnecessary characters just for Tripadvisor!!
The older blonde lady at reception was extremely rude to us. We complained about her and then on departure she was rude again. Absolute joke!! I have worked in hotels for years and this behaviour is unexceptable especially for front of house. Manners cost nothing!!
Gorgeous hotel, beautifully decorated for the festive period. Upon arrival the first member of staff at reception was so friendly and welcoming which got our trip off to a great start. We stayed for 2 nights over new year so it was expensive and even then we booked the best room possible as we knew we would probably spend a lot of time chilling in the room. Although expensive, our room was huge - more like an apartment of its own. We walked in to a huge living area with sofas and a tv, then into the next room which had a huge bed, wardrobes and again a huge tv, through to the bathroom which had both a shower and a bath with a separate mirrored dressing area. The light up mirrors were a fabulous touch! Both the living area and bedroom area had large windows with views overlooking beautiful Harrogate, the windows opened onto a large balcony with table and chairs. Although we knew it would be too cold to sit out on the balcony, it was perfect for watching the NYE fireworks from. The bar in the hotel is very large and modern, one of the bartenders recommended a Cherry Bakewell cocktail when I asked about it and I'm so glad he did - it tasted amazing and I went back for several more! I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel, the location is right in the heart of Harrogate close to everything and our bed was SO comfy.
A massive disappointment. There were so many things that did not deliver. The room was bland and lacked any information on how to get the heating to work. The shower barley managed any real quality flow, at least the water was hot. The meal in the Pickled Sprout was poor. Burnt chicken Kiev's, Risotto that resembled wallpaper paste, wine served halfway through the service. It didnt improve at breakfast, with a broken lift leaving only 1 lift wirking people wondered around trying to find where breakfast was served, only to find out it was on the 5th floor. Food served again was extreemly poor quality, many complained about the undercooked eggs. Water was not hot enough for tea. Instant coffee served via a tin. Massivley under staffed, the staff tried there best but was not able to cope. We frequently stay at hotels but have rarley had such a poor experience. This is one hotel to avoid and they should be ashamed that the are willing to offer such a poor service to customers.
I recently booked a night at the hotel over the xmas holidays for me and my wife, but unfortunately our car broke down on the motorway whilst travelling to the hotel. It was a very scary situation in bad weather. Regardless we attempted to call this hotel multiple times, left voicemails well in advance of our check in time, but we heard absolutely nothing back. We thought maybe it was just a very busy day for them and that they would come back to us the next day. But unfortunately the radio silence continued. No efforts to get in touch with us, perhaps to even rearrange our stay....just NOTHING. If you are looking for a hotel with any sense of responsibility or even just basic respect for its customers...this is not the place you want to book, as they will not be there when you need them.
After a busy Christmas we decided to have a night away to relax, before preparing to return to work after the Christmas break. We came to Harrogate last year for a day, and loved it. We always planned to return. We booked The Yorkshire Hotel. Bed and breakfast. What a wonderful experience. The receptionist was lovely, friendly and welcoming. She showed us the way to our room and said we were staying in her favourite room. When we came to the room.......no wonder. It was amazing, neutral colours and soft lighting and coffee/tea facilities, nice sized bathroom and everywhere was so clean and tidy. Huge shower. The Christmas decorations outside and inside the hotel were olde worlde, adding to the Christmas feel. It really is picture postcard perfect. This place is beautiful, situated in a good space in Harrogate. A gem. Exceptionally enjoyable experience.
We stayed here for one night and it was a lovely hotel . The staff were really friendly and the rooms were well equipped . The bed in 110 is a bit small for a double. The bar and restaurant are excellent. The breakfast room is in the sky room and has amazing views of Harrogate which is on the 5th floor .
Room was good size, with all the usual amenities and a very comfy bed. Located in the centre of Harrogate, it has charged parking ( £15 for 24 hrs) and is accessed via a short flight of steps, with handrails. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and a credit to the place. However, the breakfast offering, whilst offering plenty of choice, was at best tepid. The hotel makes much of its high speed Wi-Fi, but not in room 209. Neither an iPad or an iPhone would connect in the room and the code we were given by reception wasn't recognised. It was very cold on the morning we left, but the front steps had been mopped! They were somewhat slippery, not ideal for a person with mobility issues. All in all though it's a good base for exploring what the town has to offer, and for taking afternoon tea at Betty's which is only a very short walk away.
We visit the YH probably 3 to 4 times a year and it is always a great stay and fantastic value for money.Hotel in a great location and since refurbishment is looking great.Very pleasing on the eye and everywhere clean and tidy. Having said the above the Hotels greatest asset is its Staff.Every single person you meet, either front of house or backroom are pleasant and polite.I would like a special mention about Manager Lucy who I have exchanged emails with who is always polite and very helpful and Yvonne on Reception who was great and a great asset to the YH. Well done all and we look forwards to our next visit.
Hotel clean, room clean. Staff helpful and polite. All the staff looked happy . Breakfast was good, plenty of choice.Would stay here again. Right in the centre of town. 5 minutes walk to the conference centre. Across the road from Bettys tea rooms.
Incredible value for money, we had our wedding reception in the sky suite and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. From start to finish we were made to feel so special. I would highly recommend a wedding at the Yorkshire hotel. the views are stunning, drinks are very well priced and Fran who coordinated our wedding was wonderful.
Fantastic value at £59 in the centre of Harrogate. Room beautifully refurbished. Can't fault it at all. Parking is £15 a night but if you park on the street and use Appy it's about £4. Stayed here before and now it's even better due to the refurbishment.
We booked two rooms at the Yorkshire as a Xmas special break. One single room for our special needs daughter and a double for ourselves The hotel in a good location and very pleasant and breakfasts of good quality however ..the day before arrival we had spoken to management to comment that we had looked at google maps and discovered the nearest multi parking was located a 6 min walk away from the hotel and that this was too far for our daughter and also my wife who had had a previous major injury to her legs. We asked if they could assist us although we did not hold a blue badge . Management appeared helpful on the call on which my wife was present and they confirmed they would reserve a bay so We were however surprised to be charged £15 a day as this had not been mentioned during the call. we were forced to pay £45 for the parking.. For guidance for those with special needs /limited walking no parking bay is guaranteed so when you return from a day out we found all bays full we had to go into reception to ask them to try and allocate a bay which in our case was just possible but very inconvenient sometimes being told to drive around the block again to enter the parking are from the other side of the hotel. , s not easy and parking is very tight for reversing . We were informed the charge was due to limited bays for parking outside the hotel. Frankly had we known we would not have chosen this hotel as usually we find hotels accomodating in such circumstances so for anyone travelling and thinking to stay at this hotel they should be aware that no exception or support is made to waive the excessive £15 day charge
Stayed for one night and couldn't fault it at at all. Room a bit too warm but easily remedied by opening a window. All staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely breakfast, comfy bed. Special mention for Chloe behind the bar who went above and beyond all expectations to serve me a decent pint. An asset to the company. Will definitely return.
Had a lovely stay for the one night in this hotel. Parking was easy, may have got lucky right outside the front . Beautiful Christmas lights around the hotel and a fantastic location right in the middle of Harrogate. The staff on reception were very welcoming and the room was available early so that was a plus. The room was a small and cosy but very comfortable and a great price for this time of year. We'd definitely stay here on our return next year.
I genuinely loved my stay here but I wouldn't recommend if there on business. THe staff, rooms, hotel in general are all lovely in a wonderful location - parking in expensive but this is Harrogate after all! I attempted to work there and the wifi just isn't suitable - couldn't do zoom call due to slow connectivity and even then I would be kicked off regularly - i was advised that it depends on how many people are using it. Anyway, if staying for leisure, go for it but not suitable for a business stay
We chose it for the central location near Betty's and it was ideal. Our rooms were 'deluxe double', very comfortable and spacious, with a view over a green area with trees. The bathroom was new, not fancy but roomy and immaculate with a great shower. The heating was too warm but adjustable and the window opened. Point to consider: We were in the recently-added annex. It was lovely and quiet despite the function room and buzzy bar-restaurant in the main part. The trade-off is that it's not on the lift system(though they take your bags up) and the stairs are a bit awkward. Not for everyone but I'd ask for that area again. Friendly and pleasant staff; couldn't fault anyone but Yvonne on reception was outstanding.
I was a late arrival for a last minute booking, the receptionist Yvonne was very welcoming, and extremely helpful.I had missed the restaurant as I was so late and she recommended 2 local establishments that I would be able to eat. The room was very clean, modern but not too clinical. The whole hotel had a loverly ambience Really great experience. And a decent tea bag, with a good sized mug to have a brew in my room. Brilliant. Thank you I will book again.
My husband booked the Yorkshire Hotel for our wedding anniversary in October, the hotel was great ,it has recently been modernised. Check in wasn't until between 3 or 4pm . Parking cost £15 and we had to leave by 11 am or pay extra . We had room 112 a deluxe double it was a beautiful room except for the fact it didn't have a working window in the room . The window was covered with black plastic and we couldn't open it or see out of it , but for one night it was ok but I must admit if we stayed at the hotel again we would refuse to be given that room again.
The room was very clean and offered a lovely view of the park. But the internet strength was poor and the noise from the room next door on one night meant we got next to no sleep. The second night was much better though and the bed was very comfortable. In my opinion the hotel is very nice, if slightly tired but it was expensive. Harrogate is absolutely beautiful and well worth visiting.
A really lovely hotel, impeccably clean, staff are great. I always ring hotel direct and find they give best rate. Don't rely on hotel parking, it's very limited, multi storey 10 minutes walk £6.20 for 24 hours
Stayed for one night, we had booked two rooms a small and standard double. Both rooms were good, clean and not too noisy. We had breakfast which was fine. Good central location in Harrogate. We couldn't park in car park but had no issues parked on the street nearby free 6pm to 8am, could park for 3 hours. Would definitely look to stay here again.
Although the hotel is in a great location and the rooms are immaculate, the stay was let down by the staff dress code, or lack of it and the foul language coming from the kitchen staff. We did also have a problem with the shower mixer tap which was impossible to adjust. Overall we were very disappointed.
Great stay, the rooms are immaculate, very friendly and helpful team. Breakfast with a view right st the top of the hotel offer vistas of the whole area. Very convienenvt location and parking available at a reasonable rate. I would highly reccomend either for travelling in business or a couples getaway.
Came to Harrogate for a business meeting (Photovoice exhibition at the beautiful Harrogate library which was fab!) decided to stay in Harrogate with my daughter/business partner as we loved the gorgeous city and wanted to go to Turkish baths. We found Yorkshire hotel and is best hotel we've ever stayed in for value for money. The location is wonderful opposite Betty's. The hotel architecture like the rest of Harrogate is beautiful and it was all lit up last night. The room was fabulous very large and comfy beds. Although in centre of Harrogate we were high up and couldn't hear the noise. Reception staff so welcoming and friendly and helpful especially Alfie! And then as if it couldn't get any better we discovered after we got back from the famous Harrogate Turkish baths (which is 5 minute walk away if that) there is a fantastic and friendly cosy bar called the pickled sprout. What a find!! We'll be back!!
Disappointing that we were unable to eat in the restaurant and that the public were prioritised over paying guests. I wouldn't have been so bothered if the same empty tables remained empty whilst we headed out and returned from eating elsewhere. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful. Room 222 faces the back of the hotel where the glass bins get emptied at 6am. Surely there is a better time to do this?? Bed was extremely uncomfortable, springs dug into my whole body making a good nights sleep impossible. No bottled water available in the room. We left at 7am so we could go home to get a couple of hours of decent rest before we started the day. Location and cleanliness are the only positives I can give from my experience. Very disappointing. Would not stay again and would not recommend.
Pay £15 to park when they provide no parking spaces. Rooms far too small to be practical can only get out of bed one side. Two single beds put together at different heights so big lump in the middle I would not recommend to stay at this hotel
Very nice hotel, perfectly situated for the centre of Harrogate. Lovely rooms, comfy beds and superb showers. Fantastic breakfast! Only real let-down is that parking is on a first-come, first served basis, with not many spaces for a large hotel and charged at £15/night!! Spaces are small and made worse by poor parking by other guests.
Lovely hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff. No problem to store our luggage while we waited for our room and popped out for food. Lovely clean and good sized room with new bathroom which was super clean. Problem with the flow of water from the shower but was just a minor inconvenience.
We stayed here last winter in the small double room and enjoyed our stay. The room was nice and warm and cosy. We've stayed in a couple of hotels in Harrogate and this was our favourite. The staff are welcoming and friendly and there was a lovey fire place in the main reception. They also have a restaurant and although we didn't eat here the menu looked good and we'll definitely try on next visit. Definitely recommend staying here for a warm stay. Hopefully will be back again this December.
Very pleasant and comfortable visit to Harrogate made even more so by staying at the excellent Yorkshire Best Western Hotel. We loved Harrogate Harry's very informative walks and talks and, if you do nothing else in Harrogate, you must at least join Harry for a happy couple of hours. He's a wonderful guy who obviously loves Harrogate and has a real feel-good factor.
Thought this place might have an atmosphere of faded grandieur but it was plush, clean and tidy. The room was spacious with a bathroom you could park a 747 in with entry of wardrobe space. The communal areas had new carpets decorated with pictures. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and a lovely view from the 5th floor. The location is Central. I Would definitely come back.
a very pleasant stay in this historic hotel - staff overall were very friendly and helpful. rooms were well appointed - didn't have the best view - but I was only at the property for 1 night so did not detract from my stay
Great location opposite Betty in harrogate. Big rooms and comfy bed. Spot less clean. Really recommend to anyone visiting. The staff were really helpful and friendly too. Tea coffee biscuits available in rooms and parking amble
Very good hotel. Staff very friendly. Decor lovely. Stayed in a junior suite. Very spacious just slightly disappointed with location of room. Overlooked at every window no privacy. Overall very good value for money but would only book a normal room in the future.
We had been looking forward to staying in an up-market four-star hotel in up-market Harrogate; we were sorely disappointed. Things started to go wrong before we checked-in; we enquired about secure parking; we were told that the secure parking was directly in front of the hotel, not our idea of secure. We were, somewhat curtly, informed that it was full and that we would have to park on the street. No mention was made of use of the off-street parking availability at the sister hotel a few hundred meters down the hill, which we later understood could be used at the residents' rate (£15 per night). We checked in to our “Deluxe Double Room”, our idea of “deluxe” is at complete variance to what we found; there was absolutely nothing deluxe about the room. The heating was off and the room cold. It was sparsely furnished with, furniture that at best was Ikea, but more likely MFI. The windows were ill-fitting and had large gaps at the sides and bottom, allowing cold air in. The bathroom was sparsely equipped with taps that are more style than functionality, it was impossible to turn the shower tap off with wet hands. The toilet seat was loose. The towel rail barely took the chill off the room. The room was not serviced on day two, for no apparent reason. We were later informed that the room was deluxe as it has a view to the front. The breakfast facilities are grossly inadequate, such that guests are required to request an allocated time. The self-service area is cramped and congested. There was only one toasting machine that required the bread to be put in twice to achieve acceptable results, increasing the congestion. We were allocated a slot towards the end of the breakfast period, some of the cooked food was not available and we were told that because it was the end of breakfast, no more would be cooked. Very far divorced from four-star service. To my mind, an English breakfast requires marmalade, the little pots of orange coloured jelly are what I might expect in a cheap boarding-house, not a four-star hotel. This hotel is one to avoid, it lets Harrogate and Yorkshire down in a big way. p.s I sent a copy of this to the duty managers for their comment before I posted it; they did not bother to reply.
A true glorious place to walk up too. Even before entering its formal yet familiar exterior is a treat for the eyes. Going in, the lobby and communal areas are nicely appointed, looking comfortable and professional. The staff have been perfect- warming and comforting, friendly and familiar yet professional and always happy to help. The rooms are lush, if a little drafty from the windows. The beds are very comfortable, always cleaned and well presented, and the bathroom is glorious. The shower controls are the only thing that let it down a bit- they are frustratingly difficult to grab and control, adding problems for those not so well abled with motor skills. The views and location are prefect, quiet and have brilliant parking facilities that are flexible and simple. A truly wonderful hotel and experience- when we return, it'll most likely be here
Excellent room, clean and spacious. Couple of comments (as opposed to complaints). It would be really nice to have 2 ‘armchairs' rather than one. Just makes it more comfortable for sitting around. The water pressure in the shower was very very low. Ok for someone like me with little hair but for someone with normal hair the pitiful water pressure from the shower meant it took my wife ages to rinse the shampoo. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant was good and we ate there twice. Car parking outside worked but you need to bag a space and keep it.
Check in was good! Lovely man checked us on and explained most things to us. Didn't offer us breakfast though which I had to come back and add on. I had booked a suite which I had requested a surprise as I was surprising my partner after been away for a year. The room was lovely however the surprise was a small box of chocolates and a bottle of Prosecco. £40 for this. A bottle of Prosecco that hat been put in the room by the looks of it a few hours prior to check in. Check in is advised for 4pm onwards. I checked in around 2pm as I was in the area and the room as ready! Don't get me wrong this was great but the ice bucket with Prosecco was already melting along the bedside table and onto the floor. I had added on breakfast later in the evening. Very disappointed with breakfast. The scrambled eggs was like a mouthful of butter and the sausages were undercooked and like paste. We went up to the fifth floor where the breakfast was served and got told to stand and wait whilst they found a table for us. There was approximately 6 other tables in at the time. A lady before us a solo diner got sat on a table for 4 whilst me and my partner got sat on a table for 2 very up close and personal to the buffet area. Nobody explained to us about how the breakfast was working. We assumed Tea and coffee was brought to the table but then realised that at the back of the room away from the buffet was a table for tea and coffee. We weren't asked for allergies and we weren't explained anything about how breakfast would work. The lady who was on the buffet was touching a lot of the items with her bare hands, she then proceeded to clear plates and then touch the bread with her bare hands. As we cannot see if she washed her hands or not we were very concerned. The amount of time she spent in the back I presumed she didn't wash her hands . Prior to breakfast we woke up to take a shower. There were 7 wasps in the bathroom all over the shower and window by the toilet. We are very allergic to wasps so we told reception and the only thing the lady on reception said to us was ‘oh I'll add to the maintenance book' we told her we were unable to shower and this was still her response. So as much as we liked the room. We couldn't shower or use the bathroom in the morning and the breakfast was very disappointing. Based off this I wouldn't recommend. £200 gone to waste.
I booked directly with the Yorkshire over the phone for a room for myself and a baby. To my dismay when i arrived at the hotel, there is no disabled access or ramp on the front door, you need to climb 2 flight of stairs to the front door. There is no signage as to where to enter otherwise. After great difficulty in getting to the reception, I was allocated to room 113 which I then found out is located up a steep flight of stairs. Having to wake a sleeping baby, carry a pram and 2 heavy luggage up a steep flight of stairs (there was no lift to the room and they said no other room available) was dangerous and difficult. I had not been warned out the access difficulties on booking - if I had, i would not have booked. I subsequently emailed the duty manager to explain the situation after the stay and they replied to say that they were at mercy of the information they had and they had no noted down that i had an accompanying infant. To be honest, this is the hotel's fault as I stated very clearly that i had an infant. Also, I think that if that's the case they should mention to all guests that there is access issues and then the guest can decide for themselves but there is no such information anywhere and nothing written in the hotel confirmation. The customer service is shocking and I would seriously not recommend this hotel for anyone with traveling infant or disability. There are access issues which is not clearly stated or pre-warned.
Stayed for 2 nights on a business trip. Room spacious, spotless with everything you need! Beautiful bathroom which was let down by shower, 1st time in I couldn't get any temperature except boiling but thought it was me and left it to look at later! The following morning I actually wore my glasses into shower to see if there were numbers on chrome which there were but unfortunately whatever way i turned it was still boiling water and now was too late to call anyone so went away really disappointed. Breakfast was ok, not much choice for £12 but what was there was fresh and tasty! I would stay again as staff were 10 out of 10 in all areas and would ask about shower when checking in! Location was central with the beautiful Harrogate on your Doorstep!
Good - pleasant staff, rooms nice but too hot, location Not so good - parking, heat in room, stairs, breakfast, room services Parking - We weren't advised in advance of the need to pre-book car parking, so ended up parking on street overnight then booking a space for our 2nd nights stay Stairs - depending upon where in the hotel the room you're allocated, having to go up and down stairs to get to the rooms in the newest part of the hotel is not for guests who are either elderly or have mobility issues. Room heat - the rooms had fans which surprisingly did nothing to move the air around. The rooms were very, very warm so sleeping was difficult & uncomfortable. Breakfast - the food itself was neither plentiful, available or well stocked. Queuing for everything, so much patience required. Room services - no hooks in bathroom or place to store bath gel, shampoo etc when in the shower. Only allocated 1small shower gel, no shampoo. Old sash windows held open by a toilet roll. Would I stay here again? Very unlikely as would try other hotels first
Super position comfortable Good parking not bad value room price good need a front room don't bother with junior suit .breakfast ok nice breakfast room and view all the staff were pleasant and helpful
This is a very good hotel with a superb location near to the heart of Harrogate. Parking at the hotel is a bit pricey at £15 for overnight guests but is comparable to other parking in the town. Every member of staff we met were friendly and professional so we cannot fault any of them. We dined in the hotel's restaurant and enjoyed good food at reasonable prices. The room was clean and tidy and although we had booked a small room it contained everything and was actually bigger than expected. If, like us, anyone has a bit of an issue with stairs then we strongly suggest pointing this out when booking. In short, we will be staying there again.
Stayed in a king suite with a balcony, was impressed by the outside and even more by the inside. The receptionist when we arrived was very helpful, was allowed to go to our room a little early. Had a few drinks in the bar after walking around Harrogate, had evening meal, which was lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel if your ever that way
Decent value for money. Could have been a little jollier upon check in. Charged us for two nights car parking but they had no idea who was in our space when we arrived back on Night Two so had to mess about finding a space in town. Negatives done. Now for positives. Room was extremely clean. Shower lovely. Bed gigantic. Two Windows so super bright but with black out curtains, perfect. Breakfast as good as you could expect from a buffet. Even offered granolas. Hugo was superb and had brilliant attention to detail. We will be back.
I made a booking for 2 rooms for my mother and her friend to stay. My mother's friend was staying from Canada and they decided they wanted to spend a few days in Harrogate and see the sites. Having booked the rooms a few months back, I rung up a couple of weeks ago to ask for a welcome box of chocolates to be left in the 2 rooms, ready for the guests to arrive to a nice treat. However. despite having requested (and paid) for these, I was shocked to understand that the chocolates were not there to welcome them. Having due to be a surprise, I had to tell my mum the chocolates should have been there, leaving her to go to Reception and ask what had happened This was a gift for my mother and her best friend who haven't seen each other for 4 years due to the pandemic, and the chocolates were an additional treat for them during their stay, so was very disappointed to learn that they were not only not there when they arrived, but when my mother asked about them at Reception (after speaking to me), was asked if we still wanted to bother (despite me already having paid for them) as well as being asked to wait while a member of staff popped to Hotel Chocolat a few doors down to buy 2 boxes!! I have been so disappointed and shocked with this and it has certainly not provided an initially pleasant welcome to the hotel for my mother and her friend.
Booked the hotel in the afternoon.. a double room.. arrived to get told they only have a twin room.. not ideal while with your partner.. no even a phone call or email to say before we arrived.. got charged £15 to park.. then found out it was free at night time.. just after your money from what I felt..
This bespoke holiday let on Hellifield station is just fantastic, the quality has to be seen to be believed, the station is active and if you like trains it's fabulous. The cafe is great and the food and staff are lovely . You really can't fault it.
Great hotel overall, very good location in the centre of Harrogate. Room was spacious and clean. Parking is over priced and shouldn't be £15 a day for paying guests. Ate dinner in the pickled sprout which is part of the hotel, excellent food and service
No front rampage for disabled or baby users, told to go round the back, also a charge of £30 for 2 night parking, so watched as we left to park on the Main Street and make our way back, bottom reception looks great but bedrooms a lot of attention needed, mattress was so lumpy. We would not stay here again.
Front desk staff was wonderful. Very kind and eager to help. The room itself was small and a bit warm but for a short stay was not bad! I am sure nicer rooms were available, but we went with the least expensive. The lobby is lovely and a great spot to get some work done. We had drinks and desert in the restaurant and the service was great!
My husband and I brought his parents here to celebrate his moms 80th birthday. The hotel was lovely, rooms were good for the age of the building and communal areas were beautiful. Every member of staff we met was friendly, polite and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay at The Yorkshire hotel, the room was spacious and bed was comfortable, the only thing missing was the lovely colourful bed spread and cushions seen in all the photos. All the staff we came into contact with were friendly and polite, in particular Georgia who we spoke to during the evening when asking for for extra milk and again at breakfast. The breakfast was served in the Skybar on the top floor from which we enjoyed the most amazing views of Harrogate! We will definitely stay here again.
This ideally situated hotel was everything we hoped for. Clean, stylish, incredible value. I want to praise the staff and high standards here before I touch on a personal hell the wife and I seem to endure time and time again! We came for our anniversary and we were upgraded, this was a kind gesture we greatly appreciated. It made the value of our one night stay unmatchable across Harrogate. The deluxe front facing room was spacious, clean, comfy. But temperature was an issue from the get go. In fact it's a Harrogate issue in our experience, perhaps a national issue- hotels either invest in air con or they ruin a night's sleep. We had a fan and some partial open windows to mitigate the dreaded heat. Only opening the room door with a chair helped the situation - not feasible for long!. We had a thermometer and it read 26 degrees all night. That wouldn't be comfortable abroad and it isn't comfortable here in the UK. But I won't lay any of that at the foot of The Yorkshire Hotel. It's a big issue for all summer hotel visits. We seem to encounter it whenever we go away, it follows us. Anyway all it all a grueling night's sleep in an otherwise well run hotel with excellent staff and facilities. We will be back in colder months.
Great hotel location for exploring the city centre. Everything is right on the doorstep, restaurants, bars and shops. Also just across the road from Betty's tea room. Nice elegant decor. Very popular bar and restaurant called Pickled Sprout. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially Yvonne on reception who helped us out when we had a room problem, thank you again. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again one day.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights , lovely room great breakfast great location, staff were so friendly, Yvonne was especially good cos we lost our room keys twice in one day no rolling of the eyes she just smiled and said no problem sir and gave us replacement. We will definitely stay here again.
It was my first time staying at Yorkshire Hotel in Harrogate. What can I say the hotel is absolutely beautiful. I stayed in a Delux room which was over looking the park. The room was spacious, and clean. The lady at the reception (Yvonne) was very lovely. On the first day I visited she recommed their hotel restaurant called 'The Pickled Sproud' Yvonne recommended one of their special called Ultimate Kiev. What can I say it was the best Kiev I ever had. Well done Andy (chef) for creating such a wonderful dish. I Highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
Good check in, room was quite pleasant with everything working, lots of sockets in right places, decent size towels and good shower, everything one needs. So why haven't I given it more?, because I was having a drink in downstairs bar and my friend asked me to enquire about breakfast in the morning. I went to reception and the person behind reception was just digging out the dirt from under their fingernails and I was made to feel I had disturbed them, quite disgusting and one of the worst customer service experience ever. About 9.30pm on Saturday 27th…..
Arrived at The Yorkshire hotel an hour or so earlier than check in time. Thankfully our room was ready. Our requested twin room was a double. Popped back to reception they said they'd make it into a twin room for us. After a couple of hours shopping, we came back to find our bags had been moved and we'd been upgraded to the room next door that had twin beds (and a much better view of the front of the hotel!) spacious room, nice modern decor and large bathroom with shower only. Comfy single beds with nice bedding and quite thick pillows (not to my liking but they can't please everyone!). Loved the Yorkshire lad & lass mugs, and biscuits on the tea tray. One shower gel and shampoo but no shower cap, which would've been useful. Upon check in, we were given 20% off the downstairs restaurant which would've been useful hadn't we booked afternoon tea out. Breakfast in the morning was on the 5th floor, lovely views but dated decor compared to the rest of the hotel. Decent selection of hot and cold buffet food. Home made flapjack was a nice touch. Check out at 11 but the hotel was happy to store our bags. Overall a very enjoyable stay, would recommend and would stay again.
A bit difficult to book in as we had to stand at reception and book on my phone to get the best price but it was worth it. We were very pleased with our room which came complete with tea, coffee and two packets of biscuits. Luckily I had brought a shower cap as it was a fixed overhead shower which would have been awful if I had got my hair drenched. The shower had poor pressure but it was just about acceptable. The room was refurbished and all the public areas were modern and quite luxurious which made it very good value for money. We would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed a family break at this centrally located hotel. The staff were very friendly and efficient and helped us with a 'noise' problem we experienced from another room by relocating us for the second night of our stay. The hotel restaurant 'The Pickled Sprout' is excellent as is the choice of drinks. You can also enjoy drinks outside at the front of the hotel. Highly recommended.
We only stayed for one night en-route to the Lake District, but it is a great hotel in a very central location, whilst being very calm & quiet too. We had a room with an extra bed for our teenage son, which we were told was a small z bed, but on arrival it was a full size double bed in a very large room, so very happy. Room was extremely clean & quiet. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Parking was slightly tricky due to limited spaces & the fact that we had a large truck, but not a major issue.
First time in this hotel and wont be the last Celebrating 2 birthdays and both received a card from the hotel Nice touch I thought Lovely double room facing the stray Breakfast good but could have been hotter All staff lovely and the hotel is beautiful throughout Just have to mention we had room 209 and 210 Wednesday night 17th was woken up by people talking on their balcony 1.30am Still at it at 3am Where do people get off thinking that this is acceptable behaviour when other people are asleep So so selfish and ignorant Couldn't believe it not even weekend which would have been bad enough These people will know who they are So in future have a little respect for other people Your paying for the room the same as everyone else is You don't own the hotel
The Yorkshire Hotel is situated in Harrogate Town, with fantastic views to enjoy. Staff are very professional and respectful. Ready to help as best they can. The food is fantastic. You are so close to so many places to eat. Been to Harrogate several times, stayed at the Yorkshire Hotel each time. My only disappointment was the noisr st he back of the hotel in the early hours of a Monday morning.
We booked a night away child free for some rest and recuperation. The first thing is the hotel has NO air con in the rooms so it was stifling - we haven't slept! We would have been better sleeping on the corridor as it was so much cooler! The windows open a crack but our room backed onto the lane of bars so we couldn't have it open as then we couldn't sleep because of the bar noise. An alarm then went off for ages at 2am!! I phoned reception to ask for a fan for the room which they had run out as they had an event on that night. What hotel that doesn't have air con, doesn't have fans in every room! So no sleep for us! The sky lounge wasn't open either for drinks as again the private event had it. So overall a disappointing stay. We won't be staying again and in future will look at a room with air con. Also, the free WiFi did not work at all either.
Honestly couldn't fault this hotel it is beautiful, clean well presented and the staff are so helpful. The location is central so perfect to take in all of Harrogate. Was my first visit to the hotel definitely won't be the last
Fantastic stay! The hotel has been updated to a high standard, rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. The restaurant, bar and main entrance decor are of a high standard and beautiful decorated throughout. Hotel location is excellent on a few minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants.
We have visited Harrogate many times and said that we would try the Yorkshire as the location is very good , So My expatiations were high . Its miss managed or has no management at all . Every department was as bad as the rest , faulty towers without the comedy
We stayed at the hotel with our toddler. We specifically paid more for a suite as wanted 2 rooms. When we arrived the suite had been taken so were put in a single room suite. Our room was not amazingly clean. Bottle top from previous guest next to bed and pigeon poo on windows. Internet terrible so could not work. Bed had 2 mattresses on it which were different heights. Staff rude, pushing in small lifts with cleaning trolley and not acknowledging us. Returned to room 15 minutes before check in to find cleaner already in room and our belongings had been moved to the door. So disappointing after reading such wonderful reviews previously. Contacted hotel about all of this and no reply. Terrible customer service. Spent £155.32 (including parking) on a below average stay :(
We had a last minute break here this week and would highly recommend this hotel. Our room was lovely and clean, newly decorated. The bar area really nice. We were able to sit outside to have a drink. Breakfast was really good and you get wonderful panoramic views from the 5th floor breakfast room. Staff polite and helpful. Would love to stay here again.
We stayed here during the crime writing festival. The hotel is nicely located, overlooking a park area with flower beds, and very close to the centre. We wreren't disturbed by noise at night. The hotel is well-maintained and attractive. We just missed the heatwave, so don't know how it would have fared in that (no air conditioning). The facilities were good. The only criticism is the wifi, which stopped working and didn't come back.
A lovely hotel in a great central location. Food was superb. Enjoyed both the evening meal and good breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the room was far too hot. This is such a shame as otherwise would give this hotel 5☆. We struggled to sleep even with the fan and window open. I would suggest air con in the rooms as it was uncomfortable and spoilt an otherwise great hotel and stay.
Excellent all round experience. Make sure you eat in the Pickled Sprout. Beef is superb!! Hotel is in an ideal situation when staying in Harrogate. Car parking might be a problem but ask reception to reserve a space. Overall stay was good
The tone for the stay was set when we arrived early, and despite the bar not being open, the staff made us coffees. The service was excellent throughout with the staff always helpful and professional. We had a nice room on the third floor with a great view of the town.
This hotel was absolutely fantastic, gorgeous room with balcony, huge bed and very spacious. We spent three nights in room 101 and ate there one night. Decor is modern mixed with old which really works. Overlooking beautiful gardens and outside seating area. Very good location, close to all amenities. The food was extremely good, we had a Sunday roast, and it was the best Yorkshire pudding I have had, as residents we were given 20% off our food bill too. Parking is limited but we found a space without any problem. The staff were all exceptional, especially Alfie on reception who helped when I became unwell, he was so caring and genuine. This hotel really does have everything right, and I will definitely be back next July. Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts for making our stay wonderful xx
a A good hotel in the centre of town, very close to Betty's tea rooms. There is limited parking in front of the hotel, although this is chargeable. The room was a good size overlooking the park. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast in the 5th floor breakfast room was very good.
An ideal location in what is one of the best towns in the UK. Friendly, effective and wholly committed staff made our stay memorable. We will most certainly look to stay at the hotel in the future and would recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting Harrogate
Staff were lovely, food and drinks excellent, location is super and very central. Room very basic for the price paid and shower barely any pressure. At nearly £200 for the night it is overpriced. Hotel poor at replying to emails pre visit
Booked for The Great Yorkshire Show, certainly wasn't a cheap hotel, but a lovely place and staff were all very friendly and very helpful. We ended up in room 218 large room, shower room far to small and could easily take up some of the bedroom area to make a larger bathroom possibly with a bath, not everyone enjoys showers. The first night my husband and I realised that somehow the bed did not sit quite right, and we ended up sleeping with our heads at the bottom of the bed as it felt as though the bed / floor was sloping. This certainly needs looking at. Second night at 11.00 underneath our bedroom window they decided to empty the whole of the weeks bottles into the recycling bins, that stopped us sleeping properly that night and again had to sleep opposite end of the bed. Room was exceptionally hot but everywhere was maybe some sort of fan should be in the rooms. In all our 40 years together I have never known my husband not be able to sleep in a bed properly, and he has worked all over the country and slept in sorts of hotels. Such a shame as it truly is a lively hotel in a beautiful spot, would come again but definitely ask for a room at the front of the hotel. Food in the pickled sprout was delicious and a lovely lively bar with very helpful staff.
Booked for 2 nights this week. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Got a parking space after moving a cone first night and a chair the second night ( sorry you snooze you lose ) but parking is limited so have to be cheeky and when you get a space don't move your motor. Lovely hotel with great bar , bar staff were good fun and a credit to the hotel. Food was good, flavoursome and if good value. Rooms and bathrooms very spacious but we're very warm however fans were left in the room so no issues. Room was very clean and comfortable. My only issue was with this modern 4* hotel was no robes in the room and no bottled water and limited poor cheap toiletries which is more apt to a £25 a night Blackpool B&B. Other than that , loved the hotel and would definitely book and stay again.
On arrival at the hotel asked about parking was told had no spaces available at the moment in the hotel car park but within a couple hours there became a space available. Payed the &£30 to secure the space for the two days of our stay . Left to go to the Yorkshire show for the day knowing that on our return we would have a parking space in what is a very busy town turns out I was wrong there had been someone just parked in the space when we arrived back asked the receptionist who had took the £30 for us to park outside the hotel asked what happens here she went outside with me and said nothing I can do about it so my conclusion to this is if your in Harrogate and want free parking just pull into what ever space is a available outside the hotel as there is no one policing the car park and if your a guest certainly do not pay the parking charge . Now about our stay the room we had was more like a sweat box heat unreal spent two of the most uncomfortable nights in any hotel I've ever been in won't be back it was torture.
We needed a hotel to stay in following a concernt we went to at Harewood House. The hotel was amazing, clean, very friendly staff and an excellent location. The breakfast was delicious and the experience of dining in the Sky Bar was an added plus.
I stayed at the Yorkshire Hotel for 3 nights with 4 colleagues for the 2022 LGA Conference. I had a lovely big room on the corner so I had three massive windows overlooking The Stray and the War Memorial. The room was tastefully furnished and I had a nice big bathroom and a hallway with wardrobe. The breakfast was really good with an excellent range of options - cereals, juices, fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding, tomatoes, baked beans, fresh toast and hot tea or coffee. The hotel is one of those old fashioned grand style of hotels with many nods to the grandeur of the past, yet still with modern facilities and creature comforts.
Lovely hotel in a prime location. Staff polite, reasonable priced bar with a large area outside to have a drink and watch the world go by. Sky bar is a lovely location to have breakfast overlooking Harrogate. We were in room 119 which was lovely but the reason for the 4 star review is that the room was sweltering, this despite having the windows open and the portable fan on full. I appreciate there isn't much more that could be done but it did make for a poor nights sleep.
A bit disorganised on check in - I had already paid online but was asked to do so again and my rate included breakfast but they didn't want to give me one. Once that was sorted out the room was OK but the reading light didn't work and the hot water took ages to come through. The shower head was set at 6 foot high which is a pain for those of us taller. Breakfast good with marvellous 5th floor views over Harrogate. Excellent B&B value at £47 for a single room. Brilliant location but car park £15 a night.
For the night before our wedding I booked my groom and his groomsmen rooms at the Yorkshire Hotel. 2 rooms, with 4 people all of which included breakfast. Fast forward to the morning of our wedding and all 4 were told they were not allowed breakfast and that it wasn't paid for…I have rang four times and counting now for a refund on the price of the breakfasts which were paid but NOT allowed, always promising a call back which has never arrived and it goes without saying the refund is still missing too!! It has been over 2 weeks and the duty manager is quite literally avoiding my calls. The hotel accept that we paid for the breakfast, but don't agree that the breakfasts were refused even though the receptionist said themselves that the rooms booked could not access the breakfast on the morning of the wedding. Would not recommend, this hotel takes your money, customer service is abysmal and they will not issue refunds where refunds are due! The deputy manager is one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to in my life. This hotel cares for nothing but money. Unfortunately, I have no option but to leave this review.
Wonderful room cleaned to high standard every day. Extremely friendly staff. Restaurant was great for evening meal although the breakfast buffet could have been better. Overall tremendous value for money particularly given the perfect location right in the heart of Harrogate - we have stayed at far more expensive hotels which were nowhere near as comfortable and welcoming. We're going to find an excuse to come back soon!!
Very professional staff(especially the chap with a waistcoat)enjoyed staying here room 412 had cracking views and a really comfortable bed! When I'm next in Harrogate I'll stay here again! Nice plethora of restaurants and bars directly behind the hotel and the parking was easy. Best of all the whole hotel had only just been re carpeted ! A good example of how an old building can be modernised sympathetically.
This is a nice hotel in the city centre, however it needs sorting out in some areas. Shower in the room had a very weak flow. Not a lot of variety at breakfast. (More options would have been better) Internet speed was very weak. I sometimes had to link my iPad to my phones signal to get onto the internet. Car parking is poor and expensive. I paid for 3 days (£45) but on day 2 when I returned to the car park there were no spaces. I was then told to find a space on the streets around the hotel. I later learned that they offer spaces in a nearby car park at £6.50 per day. They did refund the one day (Still waiting for the £15 to reach my bank account)
Excellently positioned hotel in the town centre, close to all the main restaurants and entertainment. The hotel restaurant was reasonably priced and was very efficiently ran. The rooms were a good size with all the usual coffee/tea making equipment and a very good en-suite bathroom. The Wifi in our room was intermittent at the best but good elsewhere in the hotel. We would certainly return.
Lovely clean hotel!! Greeted by friendly professional staff on reception. Room big and bright and very clean!. Tea and coffee provided with packets of biscuits which thought was nice touch! Cocktails 2 for £12 from 12 till 5!! Bar had nice atmosphere with lovely staff!, Thank you for great stay will defo be back !,
Stayed for two nights. Check in efficient by friendly receptionist. Room spacious enough with reasonable storage. Bed comfy. View was to the rear of the hotel so not the best. Parking outside available at a price. Cheaper in nearby multi -storey which was pointed out by the receptionist. Only a two minute walk away. Breakfast was the usual. Fruit/yogurt. Cereals. Full English. Some pastries. Would have liked to have seen ham, cheeses and crusty bread/baguette for a continental style breakfast. However still ok. All staff professional and courteous
Stayed only one night, very well located, lovely welcome, early check in much appreciated. Wonderful Sunday lunch. Breakfast just ok.Didn't eat till 9.30 so maybe that was reason not much hot food left, did bring out more bacon. Book directly with hotel for best price
Great location, recently refurbished room. However, not dusted beyond immediately obvious surfaces. However horrible (intolerable) heat as no air conditioning and heaters left on in hot weather, making sleep intolerable. Breakfast should have been great, but staff did not understand difference between vegan and gluten free, and vegans/vegetarians should be aware that not enough utensils were supplied on the cooked buffet meaning there was cross contamination between meat and non-meat products. It's a shame, as these negatives are likely to all be down to poor direction of staff / quality assurance by the hotel management.
We booked a last minute bank holiday stay and got a good deal. The hotel was lovely, very modern and stylish. Check in was quick and easy, there is a few parking spaces available but on a first come first served basis. There is also a nice outside terrace which is great for drinks. Breakfast was fine, plenty of choice. Great hotel in the centre of Harrogate!
From the moment we stepped through the door of the hotel it was very clean jenny at the reception was brilliant very friendly and chatty made us feel very welcome all the staff at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming we had room 407 at the front lovely clean comfortable room lovely shower the bed was comfortable had the best nights sleep the breakfast was lovely and plentiful I couldn't fault the hotel or the staff the only down side is that we only stayed for one night well done all the staff at the hotel who made the stay a lovely one can't wait to go back
This is a lovely historic hotel that has been tastefully refurbished. The staff are friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. Our room was on the front of the hotel with a lovely view over the town. The WiFi was effective and easy to connect with. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel, both were excellent and served by friendly staff. On our arrival there was no parking available, but after unloading our luggage will made use of the secure multi storey facility about 10 minutes walk away. The following morning we asked about parking and were allocated a space. Our details were completed on the allocation sheet, and we departed for our day. On our return a car was parked in our allocated space, and all trace of us had disappeared. Fortunately it was the same member of staff we had seen in the morning, who recalled booking our space. He managed to find a replacement space so all was resolved. Be Aware that this occurred with us when using the parking. It is £15 per night to park. The hotel redeemed the situation when we checked out and waived the charge due to the error. In all a lovely weekend break
Stayed for a night whilst visiting Harrogate from Leeds and it was superb. The welcome was friendly and efficient, the room clean and very well equipped and the bar and breakfast area is great with views over the town. The service at breakfast was also extremely friendly and overall I would very highly recommend over the other (mostly far more expensive) options around.
We booked dinner, bed and breakfast, The price was very good value for money. The restaurant was lovely and the little bar area with flowered ceiling is very pretty. We enjoyed our stay and will return.
Room not nice for £239.00 for one night, over looked the bins. Staff unhelpful re car park, there are limited spaces, but no help to us to find a space in a car park. £239.00 didn't include the rubbish breakfast which was offered for an additional £15.00. Went to Greggs
We have just returned from a 2 night break at the Yorkshire hotel. The hotel is in a very convenient spot and it was easy to park outside the hotel which costs £15 per night. Check in was fine & staff where friendly. The hotel lobby and bar area are really nice with a good vibe and makes you feel like your in a 4 star hotel. The room well this is where it goes down hill. Our room was on the 4th floor and the lifts only allow 2 people in at a time. Room was 404 which was a large double deluxe room with a view to the front of the hotel, unfortunately I don't think the rooms reflect the rest of the hotel. Although our room was recently refurbished it had an awful smell all I can describe as stale smoke which was so pungent especially in the bath room. The windows are all original sash windows and it was quite windy on Friday so they were rattling and letting air in, luckily it wasn't to cold but I can imagine in winter it isn't very warm. The heating is a squeaky electric heater which we couldn't have on because it squeaked all the time. I did go to reception and ask if there was another room available and they did offer me 1 but was no better to be honest so stayed where we were. The room has no phone to contact reception so on the second day when we wasn't left any towels I had to go all the way back down to ask reception for some. A young waitress brought us the towels and said I've found these in the airing cupboard when I asked if they were clean she said she didn't know as that wasn't her job and just asked to bring some to our room. Now I don't want to pull the hotel down as it is in a great spot, got a fab bar restaurant area, staff were pleasant and the breakfast was ok but the rooms really let it down. I wouldn't stay there again for this reason.
The positives, Great location, central to town. Spotless room, hot shower, comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board. Fluffy white bath towels. The negatives, The most unwelcoming reception staff on arrival. Not one hello, welcome to the hotel, these are our facilities, nothing. We got, The payment is due upfront and this is yr room key. No we hope you enjoy yr stay, have you been to Harrogate before? nothing, silence. The most awkward check in I've ever experienced. Not the best start or impression to our stay. When we headed out the next day, not one good morning said when eye contact met or even acknowledgment had, and or, how was yr stay? when we checked out. One of the worst hospitality experiences I've had. You expect basic curtesy at the very least when paying for a stay in a nice hotel. The floor boards above our room was the loudest most creakiest ever. We could hear every step they made, and they seemed to be walking a marathon! The walls are paper thin and doors banging closed and people talking in the corridor can be heard throughout the night and early morning. The worst two nights sleep ever. Overnight parking in front of the hotel is £15 and very limited in spaces. £30 for a two night stay is pretty steep. Disappointing is a understatement.
This is visually an impressive hotel on arrival, in a prime location, and it's one of my favourite hotels in the town. The lobby area has a high end feel and checking in was a decent enough process with friendly staff. The lifts are very small, so if you've lots of luggage you might need to make a number of trips, and it's worth noting that the parking out the front of the hotel is quite limited. The room itself was fairly small but I guess as expected for an old building. The decor was great and it was a really cosy vibe which was a delight to be in. There's no air-conditioning and the room was fairly warm but fortunately the window fully opens with no restriction. My room overlooked the busy street below with bars and restaurants, so having the window open also meant there was a lot of noise, and the collection of bottles in the early hours of the morning gives a surprise wake-up call! Fortunately there was no other noise from the adjacent rooms though. The bed was a good size and very comfortable and the rest of the room had a high end feel with decent facilities. The bathroom had a huge shower area but annoyingly no shelf or any storage which made it a little awkward to use and the toiletries provided were very small. It was also a shame that the towels were rather ‘harsh' and certainly not as fluffy as you dream of in a hotel. Other than that though the space was clean and complemented the rest of the room well with it's design. There's a really nice looking bar and restaurant on the ground level which unfortunately I didn't get a chance to sample, but again it had great decor and looked like a very classy place. Overall it was a really enjoyable stay here and the few minor irritations with the room weren't too much of an issue; if they have some good prices again I'd certainly return.
Just returned from a two night break and what a treat it was !! Fantastic location and a beautiful hotel. Brilliant room at the front of the hotel with lovely views. Very comfortable bed and a stunning bathroom. Lovely spacious room. A great TV as well !! Breakfast was top notch with great choices. All staff were very professional and very polite. The lady who checked us in was credit to the Hotel.
Excellently placed hotel in the centre of Harrogate. Impressive building with loads of rooms. Good quality room with en-suite shower. Breakfast setting was wonderful - on the 5th floor with great views. Good choices in breakfast buffet. I did not try the on-site restaurant but the menu looked great. Limited parking at the hotel but plenty of on-street parking (metered) which can be pre-paid the night before.
Hotel very nice can't fault it. We would definitely go again that's for sure. Clean towels daily and bed made lovely staff very handy for shops too nice walks to go on as well hopefully see you again soon.
We arrived at the hotel welcomed by the friendliest reception staff. Was able to leave our bags as we were early for check in. Hotel very clean, right in the middle of harrogate, excellent breakfast on the 5th floor with stunning views of the town. Will book again as couldn't fault it. Mr and mrs Leese.
The hotel reception staff were very pleasant and efficient. The hotel itself was in good condition and a very pleasant place to be. Our room was perfect. Larger than expected with a huge, comfortable bed. The location was perfect for walking around Harrogate. I never really look forward to staying at UK hotels, but would stay here again.
I want to start with the plus points - good location - great views - Pickled Sprout Bar is well kept - Rooms clean - Clean towels - luxury rooms are a good size - courteous staff On the minus side - You will most likely have to park your car at the town multistory overnight, you can live with that if young and able. I can. However, it needs to be made really clear to older folk. - the room do lack tables, it has the appearance of recent move ins without thought on furnishings. - showers have no shelf or ledge to place soap etc, it really did feel like the builders just left without putting in the second set of fixtures - no fridge - no safe - the plumbing has issues, showers either did not work or had very low water pressure - staff at night are sitting on their phones and not paying attention, essentially it is not really being kept safe. - the phone in the room did not work, so we could not call down about issues ( they did not seem surprised at me reporting this) If you get a good deal this place is fine. However I was looking for an above average experience and I do not believe that the Yorkshire is more than a value hotel in a great location. I require the basics to work , plumbing, clean towels, operation items in room. My family booked more than one "deluxe" room and the decision to look for another hotel was unanimous. "Deluxe" has to mean something.
Fantastic stay. Comfortable room, friendly staff, and luxurious surroundings. However the level of service when I left my iPad behind was exceptional. After ringing up and establishing that they had found it, they promised to call me back with the cost of postage. They didn't call and a few days later it appeared! They went over and above in terms of customer service.
Stayed for one night at the Yorkshire Hotel. Parking limited out the front and you have to pay £15 for it, but that is not unusual nowadays. Check in okay and both rooms booked were small but well decorated, with good ensuite facilities. Beds were very comfortable. Both rooms were extremely hot as towel rails and radiators on at highest setting. Turned them down and opened windows. Rooms did get cooler, but as rooms at front of hotel there was traffic noise. Downstairs restaurant and bar very noisy but could not hear the noise in the bedrooms. There is nowhere really downstairs separate for hotel guests to sit. Ate in the restaurant and the food was good, but there was only one poor waitress doing everything. She was fantastic though and did a great job. Breakfast was upstairs at the top of the hotel with good views over Harrogate. Food was okay. Service was good and, as with all the staff at the Yorkshire, carried out with a smile and very friendly. Would stay here again.
This is a really 50/50 review which is unfortunate because from first impressions the hotel looks fantastic. On first arrival the hotel looks beautiful just like photos and the location is fantastic. Upon entering we were told that our room was ready to check in early which we were really grateful for. For the price we had paid for the room we were thrilled with it, plenty of space, clean & modern - just what we were looking for from our one night stay. The only thing to note about the rooms is that they are extremely hot which is not ideal particularly when trying to sleep and the windows only open slightly, which when reading further into my review doesn't help anyway. We chose to stay the Monday night as opposed to over the weekend as we wanted a nice relaxed evening away and a good nights sleep which we were totally aware that staying a Friday, Saturday or even bank holiday Sunday night may not allow for this. Falling to sleep was already difficult with the heat of the room but once asleep we were first woken at between 1-2am by people in other rooms on our floor, banging doors, shouting at each other and to top it of could hear them being sick in their own room. Obviously the hotel can't help how other guests behave but just to make people aware the walls are very thin! We then dozed off again to be woken around 4.30am to a vehicle (sounded like some sort of delivery person maybe) outside the back of our room who again, didn't know what volume to keep things to at that time in the morning. To finalise the night we were then woken a couple of hours later to the bin men emptying the bins (which was recycling so bottles galore smashing and making an absolute row). I completely understand that the hotel can't help schedules of things but you would think this would be taken into consideration when booking people into rooms how this will impact their stay and nights sleep, especially as the hotel wasn't particularly busy and it seemed our original room had been changed from a room that wasn't on the back of the hotel. Overall, unfortunately because of a night of completely broken sleep it really ruined the reason for our stay and the overall outcome for us which is such a shame as otherwise the hotel is beautiful to look at and the rooms quite good value for money. If uninterrupted sleep isn't your aim - this one may be for you! We would have voiced this with the hotel but we didn't so much as get a “how was your stay?” Unfortunately. More concerned about making sure they got the payment for our parking spot. Such a shame.
Poky room and as for the bed! Worst mattresses ever. Didn't sleep well and woke up with backache. Better rooms in Premier Inn & Travel lodge. Charged £13:50 for "nibbles" that we didn't even order! When challenged, the waitress became stroppy.
Just returned from a lovely relaxing two night break at The Yorkshire Hotel. The room was very comfortable with great views over The Stray. But I would avoid room 306 if you want wi-fi connection, it was virtually non-existent. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and plentiful with superb views over Harrogate. The Pickled Sprout offered lovely food and drinks and had a lovely atmosphere. The hotel is central for everything. The Yorkshire is my favourite hotel in Harrogate.
Have visited many times over the years and each time the Hotel has improved. Lots of hard work gone into updating what was a tired building but now an up to date modern Hotel well worth a visit. Staff at front desk (2 young gentleman ) very friendly, polite and professional. Asked Manager Chantel to assist with a personal issue and as in the past was very helpful. A great stay as usual.
Just returned from a lovely one night stay. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming and we checked in almost 3 hours early which was a bonus! Our room was lovely and had a lovely view, it was also surprisingly quiet. It was clean, well maintained and perfect for us. Breakfast was also lovely. It was self service buffet and the food was varied and readily available. Service was quick and the tables were cleared promptly. The hotel building is beautiful and it comes highly recommended.
Second visit to make up for an abysmal first visit. Booked into Deluxe room, no different from standard room (this one was smaller than the standard we stayed in previously) no safe, no fridge. But at least it was clean. Heater in room impossible to adjust so we turned it off. Water pressure in the shower was too low, but on the bathroom sink it blasted across the room. Breakfast; queuing among people eating. Shown to table, not offered tea or coffee. Limited gluten free options, some of the fruit on offer was overripe. Gave up waiting so flagged down a staff member and asked for coffee what came was weak and undrinkable. No sausages, no black pudding, no pastries. The butter in the dish on our table had been used by the previous occupant and was contaminated with breadcrumbs, if my wife had eaten them she would have had a serious reaction. We saw a member of staff clearing a table but leaving on plates, knives, serviettes that looked unused(!).
Had a brilliant 2 night stay, cannot fault hotel. Big room with views of the stray, really big comfortable bed, clean room, in a good location, served a great breakfast and the staff were extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend and would certainly stay here again.
My son and myself stayed for one night ,while visiting my daughter who has moved to Harrogate. We will be back for longer as fell in love with this place . We will have more time for shopping next time as some lovely shops.
Warm welcome at reception with helpful details about parking. Great location for exploring beautiful Harrogate and the lovely shopping centre. Amazing floral displays and streets lined with magnificent mature trees. Friendly, welcoming, helpful staff and a lovely clean room. We highly recommend this hotel.
A slightly disappointing stay overall. A beautiful building, perfectly placed to walk anywhere in Harrogate. Easy parking at the front not costing the Earth. Tasty breakfast. Rooms clean and well appointed. Price good (you get what you pay for though…. See further). 95% of the staff were spot on excellent. Front desk staff joking amongst themselves with customers around trying to check in and have the impression of us being an inconvenience. Parking charged me £15 not £13 as advertised (it's the little thing), room view terrible, constant aircon sounds all night. Paid for wine in room on arrival, but it was not there (was brought up instantly when I rang reception). Advice to others….. be very specific when booking a room, maybe do it by phone instead and ask for a room that faces ‘outwards'.
Our daughters gave us a gift of a night at the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The accommodation (recently refurbished by the look of it) was lovely and clean. The food in the Pickled Sprout - the restaurant contained within the hotel, but also open to the public, had a reasonable range of food and the quality, and quantity, was good - as was the service. Breakfast was served on the 5th floor of the hotel. Again, the quality of the food was good and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The views from the 5th floor are stunning.
Wasn't a good start when the reception team couldn't find my reservation and had to find a manager to confirm my booking. They said "don't worry, we have plenty of rooms available" so I wonder why they gave me the room furthest from the front door. Entered the room, and it was like an oven! Absolutely baking hot, with the heater turned up full blast. It didn't help that that day was mild for March (16c) but a good management team can use daily temperatures from weather forecasts to set a reasonable room temperature each day before guests arrive. I opened the window and it had to stay open all night, just to reduce the room temp. The room was very small (the bathroom was bigger), with a single bed. The floor was warped with a two-inch drop in a floorboard, covered by the carpet. If this was hotel, that room would not be let out until repairs had been made. The bathroom seemed modern and well appointed, with upper spa shower-head and adjustable handset. The taps in both the bath and sink were trendy-looking Monza-style Waterfall taps, designed to create a cascading stream of water... both rubbish!! The water pressure was non-existent to the point that the sink water flow couldn't wash off the shaving foam from my razor. The bath tap ran with a cascading stream of hot water for two minutes, then gave up. I eventually filled the bath with hot water from the shower-head but didn't trust it because there was a strange smell from the water itself. Room was clean, and bed (although single) was comfortable enough. Perhaps being situated at the top of the hotel was the reason why Wi-Fi was also non-existent. There was a card provided at reception explaining how various Wi-Fi networks were available throughout the hotel but only one was showing in my room... and it didn't work. Poor signal, slow service and not worth the bother... I would've paid for a decent Wi-Fi signal. This hotel touts itself as a city centre hotel, with a well-appointed mahogany reception area and their 'trendy' Pickled Sprout restaurant... maybe that's why they think they can get away with an additional £15 parking charge. Or maybe this charge is to pay for the hundreds of strings of fairy lights adorning the exterior of the hotel, which were on at 3pm in the afternoon and still on at 8am in the morning - surely an unnecessary expense. Altogether, this hotel seemed to put their version of 'style' over substance... all fur coat, and no knickers!
My Husband and I stayed here as a treat as were booked into a nearby restaurant on the Friday night. The Hotel looks very pretty from the outside and the reception area was lovely and the staff very welcoming. We stayed in a new room (117) but it was way too hot - no aircon and the window didnt open. We had the fan on for the whole of our stay and didnt actually spend much time in the room, otherwise we might have asked to move, but it was our choice that we didnt. We went for a drink downstairs but there was no waiter service for guests, so had to go to the very busy bar and then return to the Hotel. We sat in the hotel reception which was nice but didnt have much atmosphere. We headed to the Sky Bar but it was locked up and when we asked at Reception they said it was only open for Breakfast. Our breakfast was included and great value - staff were so efficient and friendly. The Sky Bar was a stunning room with far reaching views and such a waste not to be opened in the evening - even just for guests. We would stay again but not in a new refurbished room, unless the aircon was included.
We had 3 nights at the hotel .Excellent service throughout our stay , the staff couldn't do enough for us . They even carried our suitcases to the station . Would definitely recommend the hotel and can't wait to come again . Excellent value for money .
The mattress was the worst we've slept on which meant we had a very restless sleepless night very poor. Like cheap Spanish mattress!! Wouldn't recommend to anyone as sleep is important bedrooms needs a revamp
What a fantastic team at The Yorkshire Hotel! Many thanks to Adrian who made my partner's parents' stay extra special. Incredibly helpful and accommodating. They upgraded the booked room from Standard to Deluxe (with me over the phone as I live in Bristol) and I can't thank the team enough for their help. Thank you!
Stayed in the hotel on two separate occasions during one week for two nights both times. Hotel on arrival looked nice and had a very classy feel. However we interacted with the same staff member on arrival and their attitude was appalling. This made me feel very unwelcomed to the hotel as a guest and I shouldn't of been spoken to like that as it was rude and unnecessary. Next once we had checked in (second stay) we stayed the first night in a minus 1 floor which was way too warm and couldn't open windows and didn't have a view other than a blurred out window even though we asked for a higher floor. Our sleep wasn't that good due to how overheated the room was and no way to cool it down. The next day we received a message on booking.com by a member of the reception team saying we could have a higher floor as requested. In our second room everything was perfect except the shower. The temperature dial was stuck in place and was way too hot and it didn't drain. We rang reception to try get it sorted and they sent their maintenance staff to the room to check on it. The maintenance man was incredibly understanding and happy to help. The issue was unable to be resolved and when the maintenance man asked the reception team to upgrade us as we had already been moved they continued to argue and refuse to upgrade the room as they didn't think it was necessary. The staff agreed to change the room but when I went to receive the key for the new room their attitude was once again disappointing and not needed. Certain members of staff could improve on their attitude on their customer service. We weren't even upgraded as we were moved rooms and weren't offered anything complimentary (such as a free breakfast)
The presentation of the Yorkshire is fabulous , we stayed in a very clean renovated room and the staff were all so kind and welcoming. The shower was my favourite part but my goodness the room was piping hot on arrival! Regarding the average rating, we felt we were drawn the short straw on our particular stay (March 13th) in room 110 overlooking the bins, by the stair-well smelling of sewage and a night of so much noise! To top it off , in the morning we were told breakfast was cancelled in the sky bar which I was really looking forward to!!! My biggest disapointment is we had paid for a comfortable stay in a quiet town (on a Sunday!) yet were woken at intervals from 3am onwards to continuous banging downstairs and glass bins being emptied in the courtyard below. I raised this whilst checking out and the staff were already aware. Although the lady was very apologetic , excuses were made but how can I accept that when this ruined our stay? I regret choosing the hotel based on this although this is not our fault. Of we wanted an average stay we should have booked with a generic chain.
Hotel recently renovated and our room 118 smelled of drains and raw sewage, likely this is a dried out trap problem. The food at the pickled sprout was super fabulous as normal Friday evening Breakfast, I was ready and waiting at 7am the expected opening time, breakfast room opened late at 8.15am, due to staff issues. The management team who run the restaurant need to train the management who run the hotel and breakfast rooms. I could go on regards disputing my bill, other M&E maintenance and no customer services but it's the same issues. Remember @ hotel management team, not a bad team just bad leaders.
Lovely hotel, great location, friendly staff, clean rooms, good value for money. We booked two small double rooms both were clean & cosy. Our room had a much larger bed than our daughters room her shower room was also smaller which made it tiny as ours was small! Not a problem for us but might be for some people if you had mobility problems for example so might be worth looking into booking a larger room. We had a great stay and would definitely stay again.
I have just spent 3 night stay at the Yorkshire with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Upon check-in there was a problem with the bath hot water having no pressure but 10 mins later we were allocated another room and with the room view not quite as scenic 2 complementary drinks were at the bar for us. The room decor was modern, cleanliness was of a high standard... OK there was a few small cracks painted over so to speak but it is a 200 year old building and didn't distract from or stay. Food standard in the restaurant was high quality and tasty.... Breakfast in the sky bar was fine but basic... and no hash browns :-) The staff throughout the stay were excellent... 4 min walk from the train station and very central for all the amenities... Will definitely staying again...
Enjoyed a lovely night away just myself and my husband. Impressive building from the outside, beautiful decor inside. A friendly welcome at reception at check in and on departure. Our room was on the 2nd floor and looked out onto the street behind the hotel. Nicely decorated cosy room. Seemed cold upon arrival but soon warmed up once we got the heater on. Loved the Yorkshire tea mugs and delicious biscuits. Powerful and warm shower with nice complementary toiletries from a local company. We enjoyed cocktails downstairs at The pickled sprout and had a delicious Greek meal at Saranda. Parking is limited outside the hotel but luckily we got a space in the street to the side of the hotel (outside Molten Brown) Could only pay for 3 hours at a time which meant we had to keep going back to the car over the 24 hours of our stay and charges soon added up. But this didn't spoil our stay and still had a great stay. Lovely hotel in a great location with lots of lovely shops, cafes, bars and restaurants nearby.
Absolutely lovely hotel! All the staff were so so lovely and accommodating, always smiling and saying hello. We stayed for 3 nights in a small double room which was really nice and cosy! We did have two mornings of fire alarms going off but that cannot be helped at all, and we understood. I would definitely return here! Don't let the bad posts put you off! It was so lovely here!! And we cannot wait to return!! Thomas on reception was really nice when we checked out! Thank you again!
Ideal spot for an evening in Harrogate. Everything you need on the doorstep. Well appointed bar area. Hotel fresh and appears to have had recent refurbishment. Great bar area. Warm and welcoming. Will stay again.
We stayed here last night and it was faultless. The location of the hotel is fantastic, really central. The reception staff and bar staff were brilliant, really friendly and professional. The housekeeping team are excellent too, the hotel was spotless. Will definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
This is our third stay at The Yorkshire - and we will be back again ! The location and decor are fabulous but again and again, it is the staff and their friendly, effortless customer service which never fails to impress us. Thankyou today to Anita for resolving our super heated bedroom issue in minutes with a friendly 'it's a pleasure approach that we associate with this , our favourite go- to hotel. The Sky Bar is a wonderful place for breakfast. Can't wait to book our next stay !
We were woken by music at 4.30am but this was dismissed as ‘impossible' by staff. Couldn't contact reception initially by phone, so ended up getting dressed to go down to reception at 5am. Staff rude and dismissive refusing to accept what we were saying. Despite this, the music stopped for some minutes once returned to bed, starting up again a little later. Managed to get an answer by phone when rang again and the music stopped again for a little while, again starting up later on. On checking out in the morning, the person on reception was extremely rude, smirking, grinning and claiming it was impossible for us to have been woken. Attitude unacceptable. No apology, no offer to investigate, simply insulting and demeaning. No customer service skills at all. Dining area was just above our room, but staff claimed it was not possible for anyone to be there, Well someone was! Don't know who, but music was playing, which stopped and restarted after we complained both times. Odd? It just doesn't make sense. We complained in writing on return home, again to be told it wasn't possible that music was being played and being offered a discounted stay in the future - no thank you. We had even paid extra to stay in a larger deluxe room, rather than a standard one, all for little sleep and insults from the staff. Waste of money and certainly not what we would expect from a hotel of this so called calibre.
Arrived at 2:45 knowing that check in wasn't until 3 therefore we were asked to wait half an hour which we understood as it was our fault. However half an hour passed (3:15) and there was still no sign of our room being ready. We waited a further half an hour (4:00) and we were still unable to check in. The managers reason was that we had a ‘small double therefore there's nothing we can do'. However many people came to check in whilst we waited and were checked in immediately. It got to 5:00 and we were finally checked in. We unfortunately missed a booking due to this which we had already paid for. The manager showed no remorse and simply replied with ‘ I am sorry however there's nothing we can do as it isn't our fault'. On a good note, the breakfast was amazing and the staff were so welcoming and polite.
Lovely comfortable room, great buffet breakfast, excellent friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us - especially the blond lady at breakfast ! It was heart-warming to be remembered from our last visit, even though it was pre-pandemic :)
A fantastic stay - this hotel has an excellent location in the centre of Harrogate. The hotel, rooms, staff and amenities are superb. A great find in Harrogate - highly recommend staying at this gem of a hotel.
The hotel itself is beautiful, the foyer is stunning and so was the restaurant from what we saw. However the staff on the front desk were very young and quite inexperienced. I think the young lad was overwhelmed to be honest, he answered the phone mid conversation with us at check-in which I found quite rude. Then two girls turned up and took my check-in form away from me before I could discuss the things on there with the lad who originally was checking us in. We weren't given any information on breakfast or parking even though parking is supposed to be on site. After getting to our room (which was underwhelming) we parked the car outside the hotel in a space and when we came to the front desk to update our car with them they told us we couldn't park there because the space had already been allocated to another guest and there was no more parking spaces left so recommended we parked on the street outside instead. The hotel itself was very central so we had good walking distance to a lot of places we visited. The room was very cheap looking considering it was meant to be “deluxe”, there was nothing deluxe about it. The furnishings were plastic wood effect, the carpets were cheap, the radiator was like something from the 1970's that kept clicking on and off in the middle of the night. Both the kettle and hairdryer hadn't been PAT tested since 2020 and when we used the shower in the morning the pressure was really low, maybe this depends on where you stay in the hotel since we were on the 4th floor but either way it's not acceptable. I'm not 100% sure what the duvet was made out of but it was so thick I could hardly sleep because it was so hot in the room and it didn't help that every time someone used a toilet the pipes seemed to flow directly past our room. All in all I really don't understand why I paid £189 for a room that was below anyone's expectations. And only for one night! I thought it was a fair price initially looking at the stunning photos and reviews. Maybe other patrons didn't pay as much as we did. All in all it was a really poor experience for both me and my partner and we won't be staying there again.
This was our second stay at The Yorkshire Hotel, great customer service, professional & welcoming. The Hotel is very well situated, less than 10mins walk from the station & town centre. There is a Theatre & 2 cinemas also within walking distance. We would definitely recommend the Yorkshire & would happily stay there again.
Excellent location, clean rooms, good facilities, friendly staff & good value for money. Special mention to night staff who were very helpful, keeping our drinks fresh & recommendations for future visits.
Stayed here many times for golf weekends the location and rooms are great. The food and hospitality is also very nice. Have to pay for parking but limited spaces. Few years back it was free. Your paying £12 a night for tarmac that was layer 10 years or more ago. But I suppose all hotels are doing this in the area.
Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night break. Pleasant room at the front, thought it might be noisy as the windows look to be original single glazed sash, but we slept well in the comfy beds. Speedy check in. Good friendly team of busy breakfast staff. Well done, we will be back.
Room was massive bed was huge and very comfortable lovely view from the window, bathroom was lovely had great toiletries Hotel was very central, had a drink in the bar cocktails was fantastic, Parking outside hotel at a reasonable price will stay again.
Great experience Charlotte and Gareth offered helpful and professional customer service Highly recommended Meals very nice breakfast highly recommended skybar what a view Anyone contemplating staying around Harrogate call in
The hotel is a very grand building right in the centre of Harrogate and handy for all the local amenities. The biggest problem with this hotel is the noise. The windows are single glazed so are not very sound-proofed. I stayed on a Saturday night and was kept awake until the wee small hours by people being noisy in the streets outside. The rooms are also not sound-proofed. I was woken up by some people coming back to their room late at night. Even though they were just talking at a normal volume in the corridor outside, the room door kept out no noise and I could hear every word they were saying. There was also an issue with the heating. The room was heated by a small panel heater. When we arrived this was on, the room was very hot, and the window was open (in January!). From reading other reviews, it seems this is not unusual. The heater had a thermostat control, but the display was broken and it was impossible to read. No matter what we did, the heater was either full on, or we could switch it off. To be honest, this wasn't a major problem (we didn't complain) since the room was warm enough with the heater off. The room itself was lovely. Nice and large with a comfortable bed, and very clean. The bathroom was also very modern, although the water pressure in the shower could maybe have been a bit better. We failed to find a parking space in the car park outside, though this was probably an advantage. The on-street parking only costs £1.40 per hour and is free after 6pm so, for an overnight stay, that's much cheaper. Download the "AppyParking" app and you can sort it all out on your phone.
Had an overnight stay with friends. Noticed staff to be friendly and we loved its central location. The hotel is old but we didn't find our rooms to be tired or dated. Everywhere was clean and the Sky Bar for breakfast was adequate with great views of Harrogate. I'd read other reviews about bedrooms being cold but ours were warm and cosy. We ate nearby but spend the evening at an attached bar ( pickled sprout ) and enjoyed a few cocktails. We parked at a multi storey that is a five minute walk from the hotel. We've all agreed The Yorkshire would be our first choice if returning.
One night stay. Centrally located, we were Yeahlucky to find a parking spot on arrival (£12 per night). Good sized, clean room at front of hotel (reasonably quiet). Friendly welcome from staff at desk. Very good evening meal and drinks in the restaurant. Good range of gins and Yorkshire-based ales (latter well priced) plus excellent service throughout. Experience a bit marred next day with one lift out of service - trying to get one to go up to 5th floor bfast room difficult with down only buttons! Breakfast itself had good quality food but ‘buffet-tepid' food spoiled things. Nevertheless, our experience overall was very good and would recommend the hotel.
We stayed at the hotel for 1 night over the Christmas period the hotel is in prime location but car parking is an issue with it being first come first serve and rather expensive at £12 a night. We had a deluxe double room overlooking the road. The hotel seemed nice on arrival but when we got to our room, it was incredibly warm with the window open, in mid December! The windows are single glazed so you constantly hear the traffic noise all night and the warm temperature of the room with old storage heaters used, means little sleep was had. The walls are also incredibly thin meaning you hear the neighbours. The bed was a lumpy mattress which was actually two pushed together. A very poor night's sleep After a lovely night in harrogate we tried the shower the following morning, the water pressure seems nonexistent unable to wash my hair with a trickle of water, the temperature of the shower was also too hot. Additionally the light fitting was hanging down loose and hook on the back of the bathroom door was loose. Following checkout and later on in the day, my partner complained of a itching sensation on his neck, I thought nothing of this but the following day you could see marks on his necks either bite marks or an allergic reaction, which must of occurred at the hotel We have not visited any other hotels or establishments as this was a pre Christmas treat. We are very disappointed with the poor standard of a supposly 4 star hotel and this has put us off visiting harrogate in the future. We will not be returning.
We enjoyed our one night DBB stay very much. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and both the dinner and breakfast were very good indeed. The room was comfortable, if rather bare. Overall a great stay and we will certainly return in the future.
The Yorkshire Hotel has not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted with a polite customer service team and directed where to go and things to keep in mind. The room was clean and spacious even though we got the small double. The bathroom is modern and again clean with fresh towels and soaps. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and with stunning views of Harrogate as this is served in the sky bar. I would recommend having breakfast just for the views alone. The car parking situation was a confusing as we had our car parking space that was allocated to us taken by other hotel guests, however the front desk helped us with this straight away. The pickled sprout is a quirky place to eat and has a great menu. I would definitely stay here again.
The room was a good size, unfortunately the heating wasn't adequate for the size of the room. I went to reception and waited but nobody appeared, maybe a bell would help! I went back to the room and rang both numbers in the information pack - no reply. I went back to reception, still no one, so I went into the restaurant who were very helpful and eventually found someone. They supplied an extra heater. Otherwise we we happy with the food in the restaurant as well as the service.
Lovely hotel. Good location for central Harrogate. Staff very helpful. Rooms spacious and clean, a little cold but probably due to maintaining original 100 plus years window frames! Limited parking (a bit snug for our audi) and £12 per night parking fee loses a star, but overall would stay again purely for the location.
Lovely Hotel Location Amazing Elegant Reception area . Staff friendly Rooms ,Clean Warm .& Great facilities Near to Famous Betty's Tea Rooms,,, Nr to Rail station Nr to Bus Station Shuttle to Leeds Bradford Airport..
D we were pleased with the room - aside from the fact that it was absolutely freezing for a few hours. Then we tried to use the shower, however even on the coldest setting and left to run for around 20-30 mins, it remained too hot to stand under unless you wanted severe burns. This is not due to sensitive skin - unless you count sensitivity to extremely hot water. Rang reception and was told that I was wrong as ‘it was fixed yesterday' . Clearly it wasn't fixed if we are the second customer to report exactly the same fault. (Plus others have reported similar on Google reviews) perhaps it's a big conspiracy? Receptionist WAS rude and simply replied ‘well there is nothing we can do, plus I am on my own as the manger has gone home' I asked to switch rooms and to be fair it the receptionist agreed. Unfortunately they had ‘upgraded' us to a smaller room with a smaller bed. My partner is pregnant so the larger bed in the initial room seemed fairly good. The receptionst again said ‘there is nothing I can do.and the beds are exactly the same size - you are mistaken' With heavy heart we went back to the original room and accepted the lack of shower, hoping that the larger bed would compensate. Due to this, we avoided the restaurant and decided to eat out. Looking forward to a good nights sleep again we were disappointed. The bed was different heights on each side. I accept that mattresses can be to personal preference but laying inches higher than someone next to you is extremely annoying. Then the fire alarm goes off at 0051. Again - I accept it's not the hotels fault if someone sets it off accidentally. However when ringing reception to be greeted abruptly with ‘it's a false alarm' with no apology is again rude. I / we are not serial complainers by any stretch but basic amenities like a temperature controllable shower and a bed which is the same level on both sides are surely not to much to ask? Unfortunately- yes some of your staff are rude and lacking in basic customer service skills. For this reason we won't be coming back to your hotel and if we are asked how it was, we will tell the truth! Plus - this is an independent platform for reviews so if you accept the positives then you must accept the constructive negatives
The hotel was very impressive. Our room overlooked to park and views were lovely. The hotel is located right in the centre. Thecroom was spacious and well furnished. Bed was king size with lots of cushions. Very comfortable. Bathroom was amazing. All new units and tiling. It was spotless. Breckie was super. Help yourself system. Staff extremely nice and helpful. Bar in hotel was modern and bright and relaxing.
We stayed for two nights from New Years eve 2021 . The reception staff are First class . The same with all the restaurant staff . Excellent food very well prepared and presented Room was very good Although windows could do with being sound proofed as we could hear bottles being emptied into bins from the hotel bar in the early hours of the morning
Excellent location, helpful staff, delicious food, good variety of drinks & cocktails, breakfast room very relaxing with fab views, had the most enjoyable 2 night break . Was warm & cosy. Christmas decorations both inside & out were a spectacle. Lovely town. Thanks to all.
Receptionist very helpful and offered pricematch with booking.com (thank you). A nice sized bedroom which appeared newly and very tastefully decorated. lovely and clean with everything you need. Breakfast was plentiful and great choice with a hot and cold buffet. Lovely view of Harrogate.
The Yorkshire never disappoints! Fabulous family stay over the three day Christmas period Reception and greeting awesome Room superb spacious and warm Christmas Day lunch perfect Bar and drinks fantastic But what really makes this hotel and I've said it before is the amazing staff they are the Yorkshire .
We spent one night at the Yorkshire Hotel en route England and Scotland. The location could not be better and we were lucky enough to get a parking space right outside. The rooms looked as though they had been recently refurbished. Spotless , spacious and very comfotable with lovely views over the streetscape which was lit up with lovely Christmas lights. As our 90+ year old mother was travelling with us, we had a particular requirement for one of our two rooms to have a bathroom with a walk in shower. The friendly reception staff were very helpful both when I booked and at check in. We ate dinner in the Pickled Sprout and found the food delicious. Altogether an excellent location and service so makes an excellent
A very delightful stay at the Yorkshire hotel, the hotel was clean and well maintained all the staff are polite and friendly, the breakfast/ dining room was spacious and decorated to a high standard, the breakfast was fantastic with a super choice or either cooked or continental or both, I will definitely be staying here again.
Great hotel, very friendly staff, superb location with exceptionally comfortable and modern rooms. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Harrogate area. It's prime location in the town centre makes it a great base for exploring all Harrogate has to offer. I will definitely be staying agin
Location is great and there is parking! We had an excellent stay the room was spotless and the staff were very friendly!! We ate at The Pickled Sprout and the food was lovely! Will definitely stay again!
I stayed at the Yorkshire for the first time on the 17th Dec , its in a great position with parking ... which was an absolute god send , the reception staff where very welcoming and the room was excellent , overall i couldn't fault it !!! i will defiantly book to stay again
My partner and my self stayed Monday evening as a treat , we had an amazing meal in the restaurant followed by a very comfortable night in the hotel , unfortunately this was all spoilt by the rudeness of a lady working behind the reception as we came to check out in the next morning over a gift voucher I had, I felt very upset wen leaving the hotel after been spoke to in such a rude way and never did anything to help me resolve the Matter , very disappointing as a customer ,,
My husband and I recently stayed at the hotel on one Friday night in December and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel or stay again, we thought it was great! The location is brilliant, we didn't actually realise how close it is to the centre of the town. We parked right outside the hotel and had no issues finding a spot. We arrived around midday but we were able to check in then, all the Reception desk staff we dealt with were very polite, efficient and friendly. We didn't eat in the hotel during our stay but we enjoyed a couple of cocktails in the bar, which is very stylish and beautifully decorated, we both commented that we would love a place like it in our home town! My only niggle, and I am being picky, was that there was no coat hooks for coats/jackets which meant we had to hang damp coats in wardrobe along with our evening clothes which I didn't really like doing plus there wasn't a full length mirror in the room. This wouldn't stop me booking again though!
Had a wonderful overnight stay on 12th December. Dropped off luggage before check in no problem and enjoyed drinks in the pickled sprout. All the many staff were very friendly and the service we received was 5 star. Room was also excellent (203). Hotel is also the best located in Harrogate. Our stay was above expectations and we have already booked a return Sunday night visit in February.
The Yorkshire Hotel never fails to please. Fantastic location, beautiful views, amazing friendly and helpful staff. Spotlessly clean rooms, just a lovley place to be in, pleasent relaxing atmosphere, it's just the whole package.
This is a nice enough hotel in terms of decor and ambience and the staff are great and obviously trying hard but it is badly let down by the lack of proper heating throughout the hotel and glazing across its large, Victorian sash windows. I know it is an old building and that is part of the charm, but during our stay in November 2021 we were so cold it was a completely miserable experience. It was just not possible to relax in our room; we could actually feel the breeze coming in through the windows across our faces and the electric wall heater was completely inadequate. The bathroom was so cold that it was run in, run out; the water not hot enough for a bath although shower was ok. The floor was so cold that it was not possible to walk on in bare feet. It's really hard for me to review any other aspects of the hotel as the entire experience was dominated by being so miserably cold. The decor is ok, the beds comfortable enough, the breakfast is ok. We had a corner room with lovely views, but we barely saw them as we had to keep the curtains closed the entire time to keep the draughts out. The downstairs restaurant is nice but again somewhat chilly and on the first night we were there, they had plugged in an electric heater which was inadequate for the large area it was trying to heat. We managed to secure extra bedding and on the second night an extra heater but I can't in good conscience recommend the place in the winter unless your blood is good and thick!
I stayed at the Yorkshire Hotel for my birthday on Friday 3rd December. A gift from my dad. We had a suite on the first floor. I have worked in hotels in the past, from check in to out, the service and standard was impeccable. Tom on reception greeted us with a smile and provided us with everything we needed to know. Our room was spotless, with a lovely birthday card from the team, a lovely touch. Gary and Dario in the bar/ restaurant literally made my birthday evening a joyous one, nothing was too much trouble. Even into the morning when we missed our breakfast slot (enjoyed my birthday a little too much) they ensured my children still got a bacon sandwich. Honestly cannot thank you all enough. A wonderful hotel, team, and views to top the whole experience. We will return.... Mainly because my son didn't get to have his breakfast in the new restaurant haha. Thank you again. Kirsty and family.
Excellent location! Restaurant food amazing althoughPricing needs to be clearer £25 dinner allowance is only for food! Also room 214 is a standard double? Wouldn't have liked to stay in a small double!!!
Great Hotel - Will certainly use again, Location great, Rooms well decorated. There is also a multi story near by that was £2.50 for overnight certainly worth it as parking outside the hotel is a little expensive
Our second stay here and standards are still very high. Very friendly and helpful staff alongside good food. Rooms are excellent and cleaned to a high standard. Looking forward to our next stay at this hotel
Nestled in the heart of the centre of Harrogate this is a great hotel for a leisurely stay. Friendly staff and modern well equipped rooms and an easily accessible location make it an excellent choice for shopping and entertainment trips.
Excellent 3 night stay at this hotel. Excellent breakfast .lovely spacious modern room. Car park not easy to manouver. Internet free but very slow however we would definitely recommend this hotel. We can't comment on evening meals as we were only bed and breakfast
We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Yorkshire. First impressions were brilliant with the location and the beautiful Christmas lights. Check in was effortless and speedy with a very pleasant young gentleman Or room 415 was huge with a fabulous view of the cenotaph and Betty's. Comfy huge bed, big bathroom, and lovely and warm. Breakfast was great, I can't understand bad reviews on it. Fruits, cereals, yoghurts plus the usual fill cooked option. The views from the sky bar are fabulous. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We ate at the pickled sprout both nights, the Sunday lunch was the best we have had for a long time. Parking, yes you have to pay but it's city centre and it's exactly what we expected. We had a fab stay and I hope to return before Christmas with a friend for some Christmas shopping.
A thorough modernisation of this hotel has been carried out without any consideration whatsoever for disabled guests. Tiny lifts (2), only one can accommodate a wheelchair & then without luggage. Breakfast on 5th floor all bedrooms need lift. Long waits at breakfast & other busy periods. Disabled access only at rear of hotel, but parking, even to unload, impossible. No powered doors & 3 sets of heavy double doors between rear access & reception. No room modifications for disabled. No disabled seating in bar area. Only lounge seating for disabled guests next to busy & noisy reception. In short this hotel is not suitable for disabled guests, they don't want you, don't come here.

The rooms are well decorated and everything is nice and clean. The staff are also very nice. However, I didn't enjoy my stay for the simple reason that the water temperature was ridiculously hot - it was scalding hot. Despite my best efforts, I could do nothing to lower the water temperature. Turning the tap and shower to cold seemed to have no effect. This ruined my entire stay as my partner and I were unable to shower and my 1 year old daughter had to make do without having her night time shower/bath. I raised the issue with the night staff and they told me that another customer had also reported the same issue. The best thing they could do was to offer me the key to another room in the morning so we could shower. This wasn't ideal as it meant the family and I had to lug our stuff to the other side of the hotel to another room just to shower, but we had no other choice. I made a formal complaint to the management in writing and the response I received was basically "no one else complained and we gave you another room to go and shower in". It was a poor response, really poor. There was no offer of a refund or an extra stay or anything like that, nothing. The wort part is, I would have refused anything that might have been offered, all I wanted was for someone to say that they were sincerely sorry and would make every effort to investigate the issue, especially as a second customer had also complained about the issue (they refused to even acknowledge that another customer had reported the same issue). My advice is that whilst the hotel is lovely, for the same price, you can stay at other hotels just as nice where you won't have the issues I had. That's what I would advise you to do. FYI - having already had a taste of the management's responses, I suspect that they'll respond to this review and somehow try to rubbish it.
Beautiful hotel, lovely room, and friendly staff, with the exception of the staff in the bar, who completely ignored me stood there, waiting to be served. One looked straight through me, then walked away. Another other just carried on bottling up, pretending not to notice me. Spent money elsewhere instead. I suggest you employ bar staff who like customers, or you won't take much money.
HRH Group Cold Bath Road Harrogate North Yorkshire HG2 0NF 1st November 2021 RE: The Yorkshire Stay, 21st – 25th October 2021 Dear Sirs, We recently stayed at The Yorkshire in Harrogate, room 104 and write to inform you of our disappointment with this hotel. My wife prepaid £ 816.00 back in the summer as a birthday present and do not feel that this was value for money considering the following. • The room was dark, poor lit with outdated fixtures such as storage heaters. • On arrival in the room, we required a curtain to be partially rehung by staff. • A flickering light to the vanity mirror was never replaced despite requests to the staff. • Poorly equipped soaps that in the end we didn't use. • At an average of £ 204.00 a night, “complimentary” bottled water should be provided free of charge and you should not be expected to drink tap water from the sink or provide your own. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel where this was the case. • Signage in the room should state that rooms will not be made up unless requested at reception. When requested such, they then should be made up. • When advertising a balcony, it should not be covered in “bird muck”, nor should there be nesting birds. It was disgusting. I understand problems exist but surely netting is available to prevent birds roosting like there is upon other buildings within the city. • The breakfast was extremely average, albeit £ 12.50 per person, I was not expecting much. However, the cooked food choices were limited with cheap fruit juices through to bland fruit, brown or white bread and yogurts. We only had one breakfast and was refunded for the remaining 3 nights. The quality of breakfast can define a hotel and this failed to deliver in comparison to even budget hotels. • There was no choice of waters at breakfast, just jugs of tap water. We asked a waiter for sparkling water. We were told to go to the Pickled Sprout after breakfast where we could buy one. This despite the bar outside the breakfast restaurant had numerous bottles of sparkling water which we obtained by asking the man in charge of ticking us off on arrival. Staff should be knowledgeable in this respect and more choices available, even if there is charge for additional items. • When asking for room service around 7.30-8.00 pm on the 21st October, we were told no. When asked why, we were told perhaps after 9.30 pm as the restaurant is busy. Now we accept that the hotel restaurant is open to the public however I would never accept that the guests of the hotel are expected to fall behind the general public, something which we would see later when we wanted a just a quiet drink early evening on Sunday after we returned to the hotel. Due to a fully booked restaurant, we could not use either of the lounge areas in the hotel as they were set up for dinners. Despite them being empty, we were told that we could go to the bar and have a drink. Except there were no seats. Surely again, a hotel should have areas for the guests to relax and enjoy a drink at the expense of visitors. The area by the reception is certainly not conducive to a relaxed area. • While smoking is outside, it would be great not to have to work through smokers on the hotel step or by the entrance. I understand the law and the reluctance of people to stand outside but some signage might be worth considering so as to move people a little further down the street and not outside the hotel doors. • While using the Pickled Sprout for a bona fide time and having a drink on Saturday afternoon while waiting for our room to be serviced, it would be nice if the staff behind the bar provided table service instead of messing about behind the bar. Eventually someone came up to the table to take our order but this just should not happen. • The television did not have smart options such as Netflix or iPlayer etc. This despite being a smart tv. We were informed there was no license for this when checking out even though these tv apps are your own personal app. Prior to this every member of staff just said they don't know why it wasn't working and will get someone else to look at it. • On Monday 25th October, we were woken up just before 9 am by someone drilling, sawing and hammering directly outside of our room. We phoned down to reception and asked them to stop which they did for about 45 minutes. Due to the building noise, we forwent our late checkout, showers etc, just washed, packed and left the room. Outside the room was a scaffold tower, halfway across our door entrance with a man drilling, or hammering etc on it. Beyond him was a timber carcass that had been built. When we asked the man to stop and let us out, he ignored us, then stopped but proceeded to rudely stare at us. While we accept hotel work must go on, building work should be programmed accordingly, the area of the hotel closed off and our room not let. In addition, we should have been informed that works will be carried outside our room accordingly. • For whatever reason, our electronic key kept failing throughout our stay. Every day we had to attend reception for it to be reprogrammed. On the Friday when returning to the hotel, the room key first failed and after reprogramming it still never worked. On returning to reception, we were told that the door lock would have to be reprogrammed and they'd be up to do so immediately after they'd found the tool to do so. After a further few minutes waiting, we returned to reception to find the duty manager with the tool, no batteries and in conversation with other receptionists. Excuses were made but as one of us has IBS, it should have been a priority and not to repeatedly say it has no batteries and can you use the toilets in the bar. Again, staff just seem to miss the point. • On checking out and not for the first time we asked for a manager to discuss the various issues that we had. As previous, there was no hotel manager available and we ended up being checked out by a rather defensive receptionist who would not accept responsibility for our issues, especially the building work outside our room. Phrases like “the building maintenance man does what he likes” and “it's not my problem”. In general, we found some of the staff helpful, but mostly we found them unwilling or undertrained or just lacking in hotel etiquette. • On checking in we were asked for a credit card which we thought was the normal reason where upon £50-£100 is taken in lieu of the hotel tab. We were informed that this was to pay for the hotel bill in full and no money was taken from our booking. Consequently, we were charged twice, once for the initial booking on 21st October 2021 and again with the hotel bill on checking out 25th October 2021. We only noticed this on receipt of our credit card bill later in the week. Though corrected, this again is another example of staff inadequacies. In conclusion, the location of the hotel in the city is wonderful, but our experience at The Yorkshire was not pleasant and definitely not value for money. Strangely enough, slept very well until the morning of checking out
Overall stay was nice. Love the Christmas lights & decorations outside the front of the hotel and also in the restaurant area. Breakfast was OK for the price. The view from the breakfast room did improve this however. Beautiful. Check in process was nice, simple, and quick. The gent on the front desk was very polite and pleasant. Only two things to mention, was the right hand side bedside light didn't work and also there was some sort of construction work going on, which did end around 6pm in the evening but started again at 9am. It's not what you want to hear whilst you're trying to relax for the night or first thing in a morning after a few drinks the night before, but I do appreciate the work has to be done at some point and I suppose a Monday evening would be classed as your quieter time. Also, I understand parking is limited at the front of the hotel, but not sure how you can justify charging residents of the hotel to park. Surely it makes more sense to give residents a permit and charge members of the public who aren't staying? Overall, pleasant stay at a fair price and would definitely return. Thank you!
Lovely overnight stay. Reception staff very friendly. Amazing huge room overlooking front of hotel. Very comfortable bed, excellent shower. Parking on site a bonus. Situated right in town centre opposite Betty's Tea Room.
Rooms are well appointed and they have spent a few quid on decoration recently. Bed wasn't the most comfortable. It was two singles pushed together basically and was very hard indeed. Whole place needs new windows as the current ones are 100 years old. TV wasn't connected to the internet. One of the maintenance blokes let himself in on the Monday morning, without knocking, which annoyed me. He was friendly enough, but it was a food hob he never walked in 45 min before, put it that way. Staff were great.
We stayed here for one night on a Monday night in November. It cost £95 which included a double room, breakfast and parking. On arrival, the hotel appears really nice. It's clean, the staff on reception were friendly and it was obvious that it had recently been refurbished. I was initially impressed. But then we got to our room… It has recently been refurbished, but all they've done is cover up the issues rather than deal with them. And it has not been refurbished to a 4 star standard. The windows are single glazed and very flimsy. This became an issue during the night when the hotel and nearby businesses were getting deliveries at 2am onwards. All we could hear was the lorries coming and going. And that was with the widows fully closed. The walls are not sound proof and we could hear the people next door until the early hours of the morning. And then of course we could hear those people who get up at the crack of Dawn walking up and down the hotel corridor from 6am… On first appearance, bathroom looks nice. But it's absolutely tiny. The door handle was falling off (pictured) and the shower had been left with the plug fully taken out (pictured) and the sink smelt really badly of blocked drains. Oh, And the water pressure is non existent. Water simply trickles out of the tap. I appreciate it's an old building, but so is my house! Absolutely not what I had expected for a £95 a night 4 star hotel. Then we move onto the breakfast. This was the saving grace and the reason I gave this stay a 2 out of 5. The breakfast suite was lovely. Nice and clean and fresh and modern. The staff were very helpful and there was a lot of choice of food. It was a very lovely experience. I didn't raise the issues with members of staff, as given there this was the how the hotel room was presented to me, and reading previous reviews, I assume they know all about the issues and have chosen not to address them. Plus, I was only in Harrogate for one night and I had a very busy schedule. I didn't have time to wait for these issues to be rectified. I hate leaving negative reviews when the economy is recovering from the pandemic. But I worked hard throughout the pandemic, and this was meant to be a treat. And an expensive one at that. I read a previous review about getting a better nights sleep at a Premier Inn. I'm sorry to say that I have to agree with this statement and will not be returning here again.
Very pleasant stay in conveniently located hotel, opposite Bettys, near park, shops, railway station. The Reception staff were efficient and friendly, room was comfortable and well equipped, and quite spacious. The only drawback was the noise from bars at the back of the hotel in the evening, but not till very late. Breakfast uninspired but adequate.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Yorkshire, The hotel was conveniently placed within easy walking distance for convention centre, shops and train station. We had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant on the 5th floor overlooking the town and countryside. We also ate at the pickled sprout restaurant within the hotel. All 3 courses were, delicious, excellent service. Nice friendly staff a very comfy convenient hotel. Would definitely stay there again.
Whilst only a one night stay we could happily have stayed for longer, arriving at the hotel it was clean and beautiful, easy check in, lovely room, helpful staff who made us feel very welcome and glad we booked!
Had a bedroom with a lovely double aspect view (210), there were some little niggles but none that spolied our stay. Location is excellent (especially as we had come by train) and central to the town's offerings. Breakfast was very good, hot, good choice, and really set you up for the day! Check-in and check-out were very smooth - overall we would definitely return if next in the area.
We stayed in room 503, having upgraded. The bedroom was spacious and clean and the view was lovely. Unfortunately, the little touches we had expected were not there: no robes, no bottled water, only two teabags, a few sachets of coffee, but no hot chocolate or specialty teas. The bathroom was very disappointing - no hair conditioner, just small bottles of shower gel and shampoo. The worst aspect though was the shower, it was no more than a trickle, negligible water pressure and very hot. It took forever to rinse my hair and, as the radiator in the bathroom was cold and didn't come hot when we switched it on, it was an uncomfortable experience. The plug hole was blocked with old hair and gunk, so the suds didn't go down and, with so little water flowing to wash them away, we resorted to taking the plug out altogether, revealing a very dirty trap. Breakfast was the worst we have ever experienced in a hotel or B and B. The sky room was freezing cold with draughty air conditioning. We had booked a 9.15am slot (COVID…) and it wasn't busy, probably around 20% full. As instructed, we sat down and waited for someone to acknowledge us and offer us hot drinks. When no one did, we managed to get the attention of a waitress who apologised for our wait. In short, we found the following: very cold plates, stone cold black pudding, scrambled egg and bacon, burnt (inedible) sausages, watered down lukewarm baked beans (hunt the bean), no hash browns, frozen bread next to the toasting machine and no other breads whatsoever on offer. The fruit selection consisted of whole apples, oranges and pears, nothing sliced, in addition to tinned grapefruit and peaches (I think). There were a few yoghurts too. When I first looked at the breakfast selection at 9.20am, there were three cold croissants (they don't do other pastries) in a basket; by 9.30am though, these had gone and we were told that they had run out - no apology. Wanting to fill up following my inedible ‘hot' food (the mushrooms, fried egg and tomatoes were fine, although the coldness of the plates meant that they cooled very quickly), my choice was now frozen bread or toast. I opted for toast with honey - three slices. I have never had such a poor breakfast, in a hotel or a B and B. We told the receptionist when we checked out and we weren't charged for the breakfast, but our disappointment, especially when added to the cold bathroom and trickle shower, mean that we will never be back!!
Lovely hotel. Rooms small but adequate. Had an evening meal there which was delicious and good value for money. Found breakfast expensive for what was offered. Parking is an issue. I would say it was an enjoyable stay but pricey. Have paid same elsewhere for higher standard.
Lovely room and bathroom, good price too. Staff were lovely. No real major complaints. Only thing that is slightly annoying is the limited car park, but their are other alternatives and is understandable. Room was clean, comfy bed and the building is lovely. We paid £99 for a lovely spacious room with a gorgeous bathroom. Would recommend!
Quick efficient check in The location is fab.You don't need to pay £12 to park.Plenty of nearby car parks. Staff in the restaurant and bars were great. The decor was lovely and fascinating. Comfy bed and well equipped rooms Unfortunately sleep was an issue due to staff tipping all the glass empties. Then disrupted once again when refuse people came to empty following morning. We got tired of hearing glass breaking. Our room overlooked bins. Which is just luck of the draw The bathroom had no blind though and people spilling out of iguana would see you getting out bath. Sitting in loo. If they chose to look We paid for breakfast. It was served in sky bar overlooking all of Harrogate. My husband said it was the nicest breakfast he ever had in a hotel. He has had a few!!
It was our first stay at The Yorkshire Hotel. It's perfectly placed in the town, couldn't be better. The staff at the hotel are amazing, the decor is lovely. I guess the little touches in the rooms, like a bottle of water, etc, we're missing as we're still coming out of the pandemic. Our only disappointment really was that the Skybar wasn't open on the Saturday night. Had we known we'd have stayed in the Pickled Sprout longer for cocktails (which is amazing by the way). Great weekend. Hope the little luxuries can be returned soon.
We checked in Friday 22nd for my partner's Birthday , great location and we could park outside the Hotel for £12 per night, this is where it started to look great until we got to check in, to be greeted by three receptionists, the two sat down at the counter started to play I think a game ? The game was your turn, no your turn , no go on your turn , no it's your turn !! eventually they stopped this game and the male receptionist said ok I'll check you in ! ok got checked in at last phew!! booked into room 402, looked ok, nice clean tidy, modern bathroom so yes all seemed not too bad ! whilst my partner decided she needed to curl her hair some more I as you do decided to go to the bar Cus these things can take quite some time ! Maybe chance for even two pints if I'm lucky :) getting served for my first was quite easy, after all there were around 6 people sat down with about 4-5 bar staff, but trying to get the 2nd proved quite a challenge ! eventually when Paula arrived it got even more frustrating, lots of staff chatting around the bar, and after waving like a windmill we gave up and decided to go up to ask to be served, after that we were convinced it would be less stressful to go to a bar where the attention to customers was more important. had a great night in Harrogate and returned to the hotel around midnight ! got to the room and retired for the night ! Wish I hadn't bothered we were woken by next the next room to ours at around 1.30 am sounded like there were having a girly party , sounded fun, but the problem wasn't them , it was the quality of soundproof between the rooms it sounded like they were in the same room , we couldn't sleep until around 3am when they must of gone to bed thank god. We eventually got off to sleep and boom !! at 6.30 the room above woke up snd started charting, again not sure how many were in that room! but it was like they are in the same room , there must be no insulation whatsoever between all the walls and ceiling ! What more can I say , great great location , very pretty hotel, let down by its employees and poor sound proofing, would I stay again I'm sorry to say no I won't which is a real shame !
The hotel was lovely and the staff was very friendly. Taking into account the COVID policy of not servicing the rooms during your stay meaning you have to go to reception to get new linens or supplies, what was left of the remaining service was very good. Where I have not been able to give 5 stars it is because I felt that the breakfast was a little limited, it was either prepacked cereal or a cooked breakfast, there was no obvious option for non fried eggs, and the serving area seemed very cramped meaning there was a lot of potential for cross contamination. On the last morning we stayed they brought out a 'special' of pancakes , bacon and syrup, which was fabulous. Another reason for the 4 stars is the hotel bar's insistence on throwing the empty bottles into bins in the cobbled street at the rear of the hotel every night at about 1am, and then wheel the full bins around for a bit, before they were collected at 6am, which resulted in a timely wake up call to the sounds of breaking bottles. I am sure if you get a room at the front of the hotel this would not be a problem.
The hotel was excellent and could find no faults. Parking is a problem as the hotel only holds spaces outside in the street. The only problem was poor WiFi speed in the room, and the tv was not on a swivel and hard to view in the bed
We are frequent visitors to Harrogate...it is our go to destination for a cheeky weekend away. Having stayed in lots of hotels via discount websites, we can honestly say that the service...from front desk to cocktails in the Pickled Sprout, from a young but amazingteam., On a busy Friday night was simply superb, thanks Lucy for looking after us so well , The Yorkshire is now officially our favourite place to stay. Can't wait for breakfast on the Skybar in the morning!
Lovely stay in gorgeous Harrogate, very friendly staff couldn't do enough for us, I'm hoping the housekeeping staff have found my forgotten bits as I'm desperately waiting for news on them. see you again soon as we were not able to eat in the pickled sprout as it was full and really wanted to try the food there. Our room was very clean and faced the park.
Stayed at The Yorkshire as a surprise night away with my boyfriend and I was so happy with his choice. The location is perfect to explore Harrogate and we had a view of the iconic Betty's from our room. The hotel has an old fashioned nice hotel charms with some great little yorkshire touches. The bedroom and bathroom was spacious. We had breakfast included and it was a small help yourself buffet of hot and cold options. The only issue we had was having to park on the road with a meter. Might get expensive if you are there for a few nights.
Lovely hotel nice and clean and very Central for shops and pubs, parking is a bit of a nightmare, you pay to park outside but if you go out you are not guaranteed your parking slot.make sure you keep all a nails if you pay before you go I was asked to pay for breakfast that had been played for.
Weekend away with friends We decided to book into the Yorkshire Hotel after seeing it on TripAdvisor and watching the video about it's refurbishment. The hotel is ideally situated right in the centre of Harrogate in what is known as the Montpellier Quarter with Betty's Tea Rooms diagonally opposite. It seemed perfect for our needs. We arrived at the hotel quite late and booked In. In our booking we had asked for rooms next to each other but apparently they only have one Junior suite on each floor but didn't contact us to discuss this. The rooms were spacious and clean but unfortunately the TV in our bedroom did not work. We reported this twice to reception and were told they would send the engineer but no-one turned up. I'm not sure what the procedure is in Hotels at present but our room wasn't serviced at any time during our three night stay and we weren't informed that this would be the case. We decided to eat in the hotel on the first night rather than go out and try to find a restaurant. Our friends booked a table for 7 o'clock. On Arrival at the restaurant we were shown straight to our table and were given the menus which were not extensive but do have some very nice dishes on them. The waitress came and asked us what we would like to drink so we placed our drinks order expecting the drinks to arrive before the meal. Unfortunately it took almost 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive. We did, of course, ask where they were after about 20 minutes and were told they were on their way but we still had to wait a further 10 minutes. By the time our drinks arrived we had nearly finished our starters. Although, about half way through eating his, my friend found what we believed to be a piece of plastic in his soup. We called the waitress over and asked to talk to the manager. On her arrival the Manager was most apologetic and said she would inform the chef of what we had found. The rest of the meal was uneventful. My wife did say that her steak was over seasoned and very salty but didn't want to complain further as we felt our experience had been spoilt enough. The rest of the food was quite nice. On receipt of the bill we found that the soup had not been taken off (something that you would expect when there is a problem) so we asked the waitress to take it back and correct it which she did. Not the best experience in what is supposed to be a top hotel. We booked breakfast separately on two mornings (cost £12 each). The restaurant for breakfast is situated on the fifth floor and has some very nice views of Harrogate. Breakfast is buffet style. The food was acceptable, although limited in its range – they had eggs but couldn't do an omelette. At least it was hot. Unfortunately the staff are over zealous and kept trying to remove used plates whilst we were still eating and at one point we had to tell the waiter to leave us to finish In peace. The hotel has been recently renovated and has a new reception and restaurant. Check out is at 11 o'clock so on the last day we decided to have breakfast across the road at Betty's Tea Rooms (which was, by the way a fabulous experience) . We returned to the hotel with plenty of time to book out at just after 10:00. Myself and my wife went to our room to collect our luggage. We then received a phone call from our friends to say that whilst we were out having breakfast their room had been serviced and personnel items were missing (an iPad and it's cover plus personal toiletries). They were eventually found but by that time we were all quite upset and angry. We went to reception to wait for our friends. To add salt to the wounds they then tried to charge us (myself and my wife) for 6 breakfasts saying that they assumed that, as we had eaten breakfast twice, we had also had a third, even though we hadn't booked breakfast for the last morning (which is strange as you have to give in your room number at the restaurant). However, in recompense for our TV not working they charged us for just 2 breakfasts. Unfortunately they ask you to settle your bill upon arrival so there isn't really an opportunity for negotiation should there be something wrong. In the end they didn't charge our friends for the parking and their breakfasts as compensation for our bad experience. Not good enough considering the stress and trauma it caused us all. In summary, I would advise anyone staying here to check all bills before paying as they may be incorrect. Would I return this hotel, I don't think so .
Staying my second evening in the Yorkshire hotel and have been delighted by many of the staff. From the polite and helpful reception staff (local and Latvian), the helpful restaurant team as well as the housekeeping team who took the time to make me feel welcome. A particular mention to Chloe who has gone above and beyond to accommodate our team with nothing being too much trouble.
A lovely hotel, in a fabulous location. The receptionist, didn't catch his name, but a young man with dark hair and glasses, provided first class customer service, very helpful and polite. The bar area is also lovely, very clean and again friendly service. Rooms are comfortable, unfortunately we did not have a phone in our room, so could not use room service. Exceptionally clean throughout. Although a newly refurbished bathroom, with an amazing rain shower, the water pressure is as other reviews have said, awful. Only a slight problem and would definitely return.
Absolutely fantastic value for money. Large, clean and modern room. Incredibly comfortable bed, plenty of space, separate bathroom and corridor with wardrobe. Lovely touches in the room which made me appreciate the fact that I was not in my usual chain hotel. Spotless. Great breakfast.
Spoilt by poor quality rooms. Need serious updating to be anywhere near a modern standard for the price charged. Showers broken, cobwebs, very poor quality room furniture and lighting. Restaurant and Bar were great though and the view and location were excellent
We checked in and handed over £200+. The room had very little water pressure (you could not shower). Apparently the hotel were unaware of this although previous reviews would suggest this is not the case - it seems they will charge you and see what they can get away with. This hotel is not even Premier Inn standard yet it is significantly more expensive. Towels are threadbare, there are stains on walls, a meagre hospitality tray, tiny (waterless!) bathrooms, dingy corridors, stuffy rooms but worst of all, a management team who appear to take a defensive, abrasive stance. You only have to read other negative reviews to see their approach to customer service. We had a really poor experience here both in terms of the room and the dismissive management response. Our advice would be to book elsewhere.
A lovely building with friendly staff. When I went up to my room I was looking forward to a spacious comfortable room. The room however was a scruffy shoebox with a single bed. The tv was at a 20 degree angle. No room service either. Will not stay there again.
This is the second time that we have stayed in room 104 the Kings Suite at the Yorkshire Hotel. I booked through agoda when I contacted the hotel to see if they could match the price I was given they were unable to, strange times we live in. The booking in was easy, with a Blue Badge parking space being reserved for us, that costs £12 a night. The room is large with a balcony overlooking the main road into the town. There were a few cobwebs in parts of the room. I did also mention about the state of the balcony area when we booked out. The amount of pigeon droppings in parts weren't really acceptable, with a small mountains being formed in some areas. The breakfasts are very good, back to a self service buffet, something not seen for over eighteen months. One morning the staff did struggle to keep pace with the demand. You are asked for a preferred time slot for breakfast when booking in. Rooms are still not being serviced each day but if you ask the reception the night before it can be arranged. All in all a nice hotel with very helpful and friendly staff
A very dark and damp hotel. Window didn't open - sash cords had been cut and the window painted over. The fan reception provided wasn't enough to cool the room. The mattress was really uncomfortable and the pillows were solid.
My husband and I stayed in a king room with balcony for seven nights. We paid £20 for early check in and our room was ready on arrival. Our reaction to the hotel was a bit mixed, the fascade is beautiful and you can tell it was once a very grand building indeed. At check in, the staff member mentioned that, due to Covid restrictions, rooms would not be serviced unless requested. They also told us that if we needed more toiletries or tea/coffee etc just ask at reception. This seemed fair enough. Throughout the hotel subdued colours have been chosen which - although I quite liked it - gave a slightly gloomy feel. Our room was on the first floor and easily reached by one of the two lifts or by the stairs. The room was decorated in shades of grey, the old plasterwork friezes were still in place on the high ceiling, but had been so over-painted they had lost much of their definition which was a shame. Obviously as an old building, attempts have been made over the years to reconfigure the rooms to suit modern tastes - with mixed success. It was lovely to have a large balcony, sitting here gave us views over the car park and out to The Stray. It did give us a few hours of enjoyment watching guests attempting to park very large cars in the rather snug car park. We arrived by train so were not impacted by the car park, but we were aware that spaces could not be booked in advance and that the cost was £12 per night. However this news seemed to have come as a shock to some people. Although booking parking spaces was not permitted, it seems that some guests are given preferential treatment and cones placed to reserve spaces if they chose to go out. From our view on the balcony we could see that this was not a practice deployed fairly for everyone and we wondered why. The bathroom of our room looked like it had been recently refurbished and was clean and fresh, however it was very small. Very few toiletries were provided (one small tube of basic shower gel, the same of shampoo and a tiny bar of soap). The water pressure was poor, and even though there was a large rain shower head there wasn't enough pressure for it to work, luckily there was a smaller shower head that could be raised just about high enough to get under. The water temperature was quite hot and couldn't be turned down - I reported this when we checked out and was told that maintenance would be sent to look at it. The bathroom door squeaked too, but I forgot to mention that.Towels were clean and plentiful (although the towel rail was too tiny to accommodate them properly). The bed was very comfortable and the linen clean and fresh. Unfortunately there was a fair amount of door-banging going on, but we understood that the hotel can't be responsible for other guests crashing about at all hours. Breakfast was served on the fifth floor - which felt odd as the restaurant was on the ground floor, but was ok. At check in we had been told this would be table-service but it was actually self-service - again this was ok. It was no more special than that found at a Premier Inn, but was plentiful. The hotel restaurant The Pickled Sprout was lovely and we ate there twice. I have reviewed that separately as I felt it deserved a review of it's own. Covid measures throughout the hotel were a bit lax. Although restrictions have been loosened a bit, we were expecting staff and other guests to be wearing masks (we wore masks in all public areas) and there wasn't a lot of distancing - especially at breakfast, there was plenty of sanitizer everywhere. Would I recommend this hotel to a friend? Yes, but would tell them not to take the car. Would I stay there again? Probably but I wouldn't take the car and - after reading other reviews- I'd insist on a front-facing room.
Spent 3 nights in this hotel very central for shopping and Bettys Tea Rooms, and stayed in Junior Suite. Lovely welcome from reception staff and outside parking reserved easily. Suite was clean and spacious, but uninviting view of internal courtyard. We paid for breakfast on all 3 mornings and the fayre was very limited, especially for someone with dietary requirements (these were mentioned at check-in but fell on deaf ears). The worst was on the 3rd morning when breakfast was served downstairs in the bar. No orange juice was available and pastries were limited to chocolate muffins (3 waiting staff confirmed that this was all that was available). We complained to reception and were given a refund, but felt that the breakfast experience taited our stay.
We booked this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is definitely not disabled friendly. No ramps anywhere. The hotel looks tired. The rooms adequate. We couldn't have stayed a full week in the room. The bathroom was damp and musty as were the corridors. Seeing mice poison in the hallways was not nice to see. Breakfast is served in the 5th floor function room……the staff just stood around talking when we saw another disabled lady struggling with her cash and carry breakfast. The staff were not wearing masks. The breakfast is cash and carry. It was stone cold. They need to have facilities to pick up warm plates, not cold ones. We will not be going back in a hurry
Fantastic location, central to everything. Stayed in a deluxe room facing the front. Huge bed, towels and bedding spotless. Breakfast was good quality and plenty of it, set us up for the day. Bar prices very expensive.
Absolutely delightful two day stay at the Yorkshire Hotel. I don't believe I have experienced a hotel stay where ALL of the staff were so friendly, pleasant and helpful. Each and everyone I came into contact with from reception to the bar and restaurant are a credit to their employer. Thank you so much for everything we experienced during our stay.
The easiest part of this review is to start with the negatives, simply there wasn't any. The hotel was very clean comfortable with great friendly staff. We had a very good night sleep with a vefy good meal in the restaurant. Parking was outside of the hotel which you have to pay for but worth the cost. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay Harrogate.
Rude awakening. Very noisy room at the rear of the hotel . It overlooks a narrow lane where there are outside tables not only for the hotel but three other bars . There was loud noise till way after midnight. Eventually we managed to get to sleep only to be rudely awakened at 6-30 in the morning by the emptying of some trade bins . I would strongly advise anyone booking to book a room at the front of the hotel. Parking is also a bit of a lottery as the few spaces at the front of the hotel seem to be reserved for people staying more then one night. Parking is available on the streets around the hotel but you will have to visit the meter more than once . It says you don't have to reserve a parking space but I would advise anyone to book one in advance. The lawn at the front of the hotel had tables and chairs and was a nice place to have a drink. However you have to fetch it yourself from the bar which is a bit of a trek. Also most of the tables were full up of empties no one seeming to bother to collect any. I did point this out to reception who said they would sort it . Otherwise the hotel is quite good . Comfortable bed , clean everywhere and very good position . Don't bother with the breakfast nip over the road to Bettys no queue at 9-00 - 9-45 superb .
Just back from a two night stay at this hotel. We were in room 103 on first floor with views over the gardens at the front of the property. We had a lounge with double doors onto the balcony. The bedroom also had double doors onto the same balcony. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was also spotless with all modern facilities. I think it must had recently been refurbished as I could not fault the suite we had. Breakfast was very nice and self service. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful. If I have to give a negative it was the parking. We did get a space after driving round a few times and had to pay £12.00 per night to park. However, if you took the car out, you put a cone in the space and it was available for your return.
The hotel itself is very nice and staff very helpful. I do have to say that compared to a Travelodge for value for money it isn't much better. The rooms are obviously a bit more spacious. The restaurant is fine and cosy but the waitress didn't know what was in the salad. Considering there were only three salads on the menu, it wouldn't be difficult to learn. The food is exceptional and fresh ingredients well sourced. Having to pay extra to park outside the hotel was a little disappointing considering the car park is owned by the hotel and not outsourced to another company. The staff are extremely professional and a credit to the hotel.
I booked 2 rooms through Hotels.com, I received a message from the hotel saying there had been a problem with my card and to get in touch to rectify the situation, then 1 minute later received another message saying my booking had been cancelled but I can rebook if I wish. I went to rebook and the price was nearly 30% higher - I contacted the hotel asking if they would honour the previous price as it had literally been a day or two since I made the booking and they said no, pay the increased price or stay elsewhere. Going to stay elsewhere and pay much more - would prefer to give me money to a business that deserves it.
We stayed for a few nights & it was pleasant. The rooms are clean & functional. The tv wasn't working during our stay & the water pressure in the shower was very low, The hotel policy at present is not to clean rooms daily because of covid, just on change over days. But reception will deliver refills of tea/coffee etc. The accommodation was fine. The staff were very pleasant. We ate in the restaurant one night & the food was good. The bar is lively, very trendy with loud(ish) music. The decor might not be to everyone's taste but it is definitely ‘a look'. Well-located for the town with lovely views out to the front.
The location and ease of parking were great. The restaurant was superb. I rarely eat at the hotel I am staying at but made an exception and wasn't disappointed. All staff were polite and courteous. Parking was expensive, and the room was small (admittedly I did pay for a small room) I would recommend a stay here
Pros- The location of this hotel is great, contemporary decor, nice bar area at the front of the hotel. Cons- Parking was a pain. Confirmation email said parking is first come, first served, however when we arrived at 3pm, there was a few spaces ‘reserved' with cones. We never had the option to reserve a space?! It soon became apparent the spaces were reserved for Ferraris and Range Rovers and we had to make do with a side street!! Hotel room was clean and initially I was pleased with it. However we were on the top floor, the weather was 25+ degrees, no AC, a window that opened a fraction, no fan. It was sweltering. Luckily, a kind receptionist found us a fan and brought it to our room. Water pressure was appalling!! Literally a trickle from the shower, had much better showers in caravans!! Toilet took 10 mins to refill. Breakfast was really disappointing. Very limited menu. No Vegetarian breakfast option- I settled on egg, mushrooms and beans!!! Staff that didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing. Overall, disappointed. Had much better stays down the road at the HDV!
Very impressed with out stay at the Yorkshire Hotel. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were really comfortable. The bar/restaurant downstairs is a great asset to the hotel...we will definitely be booking in for an evening meal during our next stay. Perfect location to Bettys etc. 10 out 10.
I really enjoyed my stay at The Yorkshire Hotel. The room was comfy. Had two meals in The Pickled Sprout restaurant and both were excellent, as were the breakfasts in The Sky Bar. I will certainly stay there again next time I visit Harrogate.
The goods bits, Location Wi fi Staff Sky bar Bad bits, Very small room Tiny bathroom(you could use the sink at the same time as the toilet) Not a single hook in the room anywhere! Tv issues as mentioned by other guests Some cleaning issues, dust & cobwebs in room Rips & holes in bedding Had room 327 & the view is a wall(through dirty windows) No a/c or fan Very limited parking & expensive Chair & desk you couldn't use unless you had no legs! Noisy extractor fan outside room at night Dark & dingy decor( grey & more grey) Musty smell in bathroom Poor quality breakfast Expensive for what it was, over £180 a night for 3 nights. Overall very disappointed. Won't stay here again. It just lacks attention to detail & needs the people running it to care. They have obviously never stayed in this room. Avoid room 327!!
Fantastic hotel with the best location in Harrogate. We travel to Harrogate regularly and have stayed in almost all hotels. We used to favour The White Hart for location but always seemed to have an issue so we stayed at The Yorkshire Hotel this time. We were not disappointed. This has easily the best location in Harrogate, you simply step out of the front door and you walk straight in to the centre of town. Step out of the back door, through the pickled sprout, and you are in bar street. Room was very spacious and the staff were fantastic. Food was excellent and the general feel of the hotel was wonderful. Corridors etc show the age of the hotel but this is not a negative. Will most definitely stay again.
Situated in an amazing location, Harrogate, a pearl of England, a fascinating old building with luxury amenities outside and inside, Yorkshire hotel is surrounded by an explosion of green nature. Going inside, your eyes are attracted by the stunning architecture and luxury colours, well combined to make you feel a special guest. All over the ground floor there are tastefully arranged tables and chairs, that invite you to spend a long evening with food and drinks. The dinning area is extended to the garden with lots and lots of flowers around. Everything is very inviting and calling for good life moments.
Stayed for one night en-route home from holiday further south. Very impressed by the facade as we pulled up and by the decor in the lobby/bar/lounge. Parking charge £12 for the hotels own car park I felt was a bit cheeky. Lovely hot buffet breakfast in a beautiful 5th floor room with views of the city. Could have been more continental options. Small doubles are small, only had a table at one side of the bed. I would recommend not staying on the fifth floor as it was noisy when people started to go for breakfast. Nice cocktail bar which was reasonably priced. We chose to eat elsewhere for dinner. I would stay here again, but would ask for a different floor.
We enjoyed our stay so so much! Fabulous room, very spacious, exceptionally clean. Slight problem with the shower but this was fixed by maintenance within a few hrs. Breakfast was gorgeous, as was the on-site restaurant. Staff were amazing, so polite and helpful.
Bed and room were nice, however shower was broken (stuck on very hot setting and leaking from top quite a lot) and although we asked at reception this was not fixed during stay which is not really acceptable. When checking out we mentioned broken shower again - I even showed picture to person working on reception - and barely received an apology. For the price of the hotel the minimum expectation is for things to be in working order.
Rooms are nice, building old and noisy (but bearable). Breakfast poor for the area. Staff lovely though. Views from breakfast room wonderful, but no staff in the sky at when we went for a drink in the evening. Be careful to ask for a table in the restaurant for dinner or they may seat you in the bar (mostly stools)
The shower didn't work. Previous reviews would suggest this is an ongoing issue. They will check you in and take your money knowing that it's likely to be a problem in the higher floor rooms. The hotel claim this is not the case, the reviews suggest otherwise. TVs don't work at present. Not the hotel's fault but they fail to mention this before or upon check in. Poor customer service given that you may chose to bring books, newspapers or a laptop if you are aware of the situation. Decor is drab and uninspiring. Tea tray as basic as can be. Towels are well-used and the room was poorly maintained. Others have mentioned that the windows are locked shut. We had the opposite problem in that they opened fully despite being very high up and in an old building - may be an issue if travelling with children. All appliance PAT test stickers were a year out of date. Management response was poor in our opinion. You only have to read previous reviews to see the tone you will encounter should you have any issues with your stay. Excuses and apologies need replacing with action that will avoid customers over paying for sub-standard hotel rooms.
As always a friendly well run hotel with large clean rooms, comfortable beds and a great a shower. We managed to park right outside the hotel which was a big bonus after a long journey, The team are professional and friendly and area doing a great job under these still difficult circumstances,
For the start of our mini road trip break we headed to Harrogate for a night. After researching hotels i came across 'The Yorkshire Hotel' its photos and reviews looked great. It was easy to find and we managed to park right outside in there parking bays, we arrived early so headed into town for a wander. Our room was ok, it wasn't quite as special as i thought it would be, quite small and had a few bits that were broken and needed touching up. The bathroom was nice, however the shower had the worst pressure ive ever experienced. Breakfast the following morning was nice and served in there skybar which has a great view. All in all id stay again being right in town.
Beautiful hotel in excellent location. Lovely, courteous staff who would bend over backwards to help. Spotlessly clean. On site restaurant does gorgeous food and reasonably priced. Separate breakfast room on top floor has stunning views.
Absolutely fantastic, beautiful building, everything spotless. All staff so very attentive and friendly. Many thanks to Lucy and the lovely lady on reception !! Would definitely recommend and will most certainly return.......soon!!!!
Stayed a Saturday and Sunday night. The hotel looks lovely from the outside and inside is very well decorated. Was disappointed to not be able to get a space in the car park but had been warned about that so parked in the nearby jubilee multi storey which is expensive but secure and close by. We had only booked a small room so we're pleasantly surprised to see it was actually quite big with a large bathroom and comfy bed. Plenty of storage with added extras like hairdryer, iron etc. It was nice to be able to open the windows for fresh air too. It was also very clean. It has to be said that the staff at this hotel absolutely make this place especially the bar and restaurant staff, they are so pleasant and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious and we could always get a table in the bar despite it being fairly busy. The one bad point about our stay was the noise! Granted it's an old building with squeaky floors which wasn't that much of an issue. It was the constant banging doors and noise from the bars in the alley behind. There was also a bin collection from the alley at 6.30 in the morning. So if you are a light sleeper like me, despite wearing silicone earplugs, you need to pay the extra for a front facing room. The shower water pressure wasn't that great either but didn't ruin the stay. I should add we usually stay in premier inn which is a budget brand but you are always guaranteed peace and quiet. Nice for a change but probably wouldn't return to stay but would definitely use the bar and restaurant again.
Second visit to The Yorkshire and won't be the last, in fact already booked for later this year. Excellent location. Stayed in a King room with balcony, can't fault. Staff friendly and attentive (but not overly). Excellent breakfast with vegetarian option on request.
We booked a few hotels around the north as part of a staycation and ended the week for a couple of nights in Harrogate, at The Yorkshire By far the best value and with its central location, easy access to the train station and bus routes make Harrogate a nice place to stop by. Right in the city, the hotel's skybar breakfast views made me excited for the days ahead, and plenty of choice in the city to shop, eat and stroll at your leisure We hadn't dined at the hotels restaurant, but the menu looked delicious and good value- it was always busy so that's a good sign The hotel doesn't hide the fact it's putting its money into restoring the vast buildings heritage and culture. There are well under way- the rooms are large and I stayed in 307 which had all facilities you need, nice to have the room to swing about in I hope there's more for residents in time, spa or cafe facilities, outdoor dining or terrace facilities would be fabulous. Staff could also be better trained for the standards expected on arrival, such as more information of local area, offer to dine/room service, wake up etc etc. Some of the staff appear to not have much experience in balancing the need to be attentive and unobtrusive- but this comes with time I suspect I look forward to returning once they begin another stage of refurbishment
Our 2 day break on 21st July wasn't all it should be. The car parking worked well for us in spite of other people's comments. On day 2 we set off sightseeing all day and came back late afternoon and our space was still there with the cone you are asked to put in the cars space when you leave. We paid extra for an early check in at 1pm. We were a tad early and didn't expect to receive our room at 11.30am in any event. At check in the young man took all our details and then asked us to pay in full which I thought was strange, perhaps that's the Hotel policy to have customers pay up front rather than at check out. Having paid, we set off for a look around Harrogate and came back at 1pm. The suite bedroom had no great view and the lounge had no windows or natural light making it stuffy. Back down to the reception and asked the young man who checked us in if we could have a double deluxe downgrade with a view of the lovely gardens at the front of the Hotel and that's when it all started to go wrong. The early check in was now near 4.30pm and we still didn't have a room although he promised to have one ready and clean for us post 3pm. Thank you to the wonderful head of housekeeping (sorry if I got your title wrong) who sorted it all out in under a minute and moved us into a lovely room with a smashing view of the gardens. If only reception could have sorted us in the first place as it spoiled the initial customer experience for us. We unpacked and were very happy with the room. After a very hot day I thought I would have a shower. The water came out of the shower in dribbles and clearly there was a pressure problem on this 5th floor. Perhaps this was a one off and we were just having a bad day, but 3 other guests have had the same problem as out lined on their trip advisor reviews; 12th July Clairecharris, 5th July Brian Henshaw and in June, Dean Stewart. WHY hasn't this been sorted? You pay your money in good faith and expect services to be functioning properly. I mentioned the shower issue on both days to reception. For 2 days our shower did not work as it should and both days were very hot. The breakfast arrangements were Covid safe and a buffet which was not self-serve. The staff gave you one item of what you asked for. You chose an allocated time to have breakfast. What is going on with the eggs at breakfast? I've never heard of staff taking your order for eggs separate to the rest of your breakfast. Why not have some precooked eggs ready? My wife was told she could only have one poached egg and the man in front of me asked for bacon and was given one rasher, he asked for two and said to the staff member, “is the bacon on ration?” The quality of the breakfast was good. This is a lovely old Hotel in a central position for everything and with a few tweaks here and there could be top notch. Sorry to have given a 2 but a shower is a basic requirement when booking. No one at the Hotel wanted to comment on the shower issue for some reason.
Room looked great and was clean apart from the ring marks in the mugs. Both day and night staff accommodating and friendly. Room was way to warm, with the window only able to open two inches, no air could get in. The fans that were able to be provided were a lot weaker than other hotels I've used. Was a great hotel overall but I wouldn't stay again during summer unless better air circulation or higher quality fans are implemented.
Lovely one night stay. Perfection. Staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. Dinner at the pickled sprout was outstanding and again excellent service. We had a king balcony room overlooking the stray with gorgeous views. We both slept extremely well . Bed and linen were very comfortable. Great location, will definitely stay again
Booked small room. This was fine except no side table or light on right hand side, only left. No biscuits in room. Also fridge would have been useful and also hairdryer. But strangely we had an iron! The worse was the shower, the hotel are fully aware of the pressure problem but on first reporting the lack of water pressure the person on reception said they would report it. Obviously nothing happened but on check out it was very clear that this was an ongoing issue with the rooms on the 5th floor. I do feel we were overcharged for a room that had inadequate washing facilities and a reduction in price should have been offered for the lack of working shower. Other than the room issue, hotel was lovely and all staff friendly. Parking can also be issue very limited on front of hotel and all reserved, but plenty of parking nearby.
We stayed for 1 night in a deluxe double room, it was very nice and on the front so a good view also The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful, modern interiors and great food. Wouldn't hesitate to return
Excellent Hotel, good location right in the centre of town, Hotel very clean and tidy on entering the premises, helpful staff on reception.all explained were the room was, bedroom clean and tidy and plenty of natural light great bathroom. We both had a good night's sleep. Breakfast next morning was great the only downside was service was a bit slow this was due to staff shortage but eh oh due the current situation it carnt be helped but never mind we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Check out quick and efficient the only thing they forgot was to tell us breakfast was served downstairs as we went to the top floor as stated on the room ticket and on the plaque near the lift door. We look forward to returning in September to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
The location is perfect to explore town centre & surrounding gardens. The room was fair apart from no towels & toilet rolls changed or replenished. When I went down to reception I was informed this was because of Coronavirus (stayed 18th/ 19th July) Breakfast was of good quality but very confusing as said in documents was on the 5th floor but on 19th on ground floor then on 20th on 5th floor (no information or prior notice given to this which resulted in us going up and down stairs twice for no reason. Biggest issue is parking as it said limited & on a first come first take basis, this did not prove to be the case as certain places were reserved for certain guests ( I observed this from my 1st floor balcony) as cones were placed for certain guests y til they arrived! Staff very friendly on whole. Had evening meal on second night in restaurant and was impressed by both quality and service, with special mention for general manager Dario and chef Steve both leading by example and setting the standards in the restaurant.
This is a wonderful old hotel in the heart of the gorgeous Harrogate. Built well more than a hundred years ago it does not have air conditioning and the back half is over a mews with lots of fun restaurants and bars and the consequent noise. However, the next desk manager, Alfieris, upgraded us to a beautiful and comfortable deluxe room overlooking the entire city. As far as I can tell, this is the best hotel in Harrogate and I highly recommend it.
Pleasant clean room overlooking bettys tea room. Staff very helpful and friendly particularly a lady called Rebecca on reception who went out of her way to help. Nice breakfast but we didn't get what we asked for. Only downside is the parking is very tight if you have a large car.
Hotel in centre of town, not far from Betty's Tea Rooms, so you can que early. Bar in hotel nice, staff friendly, really nice atmosphere. Don't think any access to front of hotel for disabled guest, and stair to entrance of hotel steep, and looked slippery when went. Car park is a bit of a nightmare especially at weekend, and charges excesses. But hotel and staff very nice.
The location of this large hotel is about as central as you can get. Parking can be a little tricky, both in terms of getting in/out of the spaces and actually getting one of the hotel's parking spaces, but at least the hotel has parking! Reception staff were very friendly and professional. Our room this time was a little too grey-in-grey for my taste - last year's had more personality - not sure if that depends on room type or is due to recent renovations. However, the bed was really comfortable and spacious, and the bathroom was well-maintained and had enough room. There was a lot of noise in the middle of the night due to some guests partying - not the hotel's fault of course, and the staff very kindly came and sorted the issue. The bar/restaurant looked great clad with lots of plant decor - if we had stayed longer I would have tried it. When next in Harrogate, we will probably stay here again.
We have just recently returned from a 3 night stay at the Yorkshire hotel in Harrogate. First of all the restaurant staff are lovely and couldn't be more helpful. The reception staff equally as nice however not trained well enough to give out information. For example, We had paid for a Yorkshire breakfast for one day " enjoy a rooftop breakfast with unrivalled views". So naturally in the morning we headed to the rooftop. Only to then realise that the rooftop bar was empty and that it must be on the reception floor of the hotel. Not only that but an elderly couple had come out of the lift after after us looking for the same rooftop breakfast! Why are reception not telling customers it is no longer on the rooftop? We couldn't even take the lift back down as the lift button was broken with an exposed live wire and hanging off red tape. So the elderly couple and ourselves had to walk back down the stairs. Fine for us, but not for them. The other working lift was out of order before anyone suggests we take the other lift! Breakfast was fine, there was a bit of wait but we were seated within 15 minutes of our time slot. The staff again we're lovely so not a criticism on them at all. Breakfast came quickly however people all around us were not being served and forgotten about. We watched one woman get her own breakfast menus and the couple next to us were not waited on the entire of our breakfast. We seemed to be lucky with the service. The breakfast was dry and I was served 3 very under cooked, vinegary poached eggs. Not the Yorkshire breakfast we were hoping for. To finish off our breakfast we overheard a man in a suit who appeared to be chatting to staff in a managerial way announce nonchalantly he was off to the bookies. Incredibly unprofessional when in earshot of guest who have been waiting and when staff are clearly stressed and over worked! The room was fine, clean enough. Although our shower was a trickle of water and the basin kept filling up entirely with water, possibly a drainage problem. The room could be doing with a long mirror and a peg to hang clothes. Pretty standard features even in a Holiday Inn. You also have to request a room clean the night before which makes sense with covid however we only realised this reading the information in our room. Clean towels could have at least been provided for a 3 night stay. We had to ask reception for these too! Beds were very springy but not uncomfortable. The heat however was suffocating. We had to ask for a fan as the room was unbearablely hot. The window would also only open very slightly for safety I imagine. My partner had requested a quiet room if possible and we were placed directly above the main entrance facing on to the outside seating area. It almost felt like a commical joke as it was the noisest room ever. There were several passersby having a party at 3 in the morning on the seating area outside. In hindsight we should have phoned reception. We had dinner on our last night in the restaurant which was lovely albeit overpriced. The staff again we're lovely and very accommodating. We would not return to this hotel. Very basic things need addressing urgently to make this even a 3.5 rating. Mainly the reception training and small cheap upgrages to the room.
Hotel is very nice. Staff are very friendly. The bar area is excellent, very good atmosphere. Only negative feel that the car park charges of 12 pounds are a bit steep to other Hotels. Steps up to Hotel can be a bit dangerous especially when wet. Would visit this Hotel again.
We had a lovely stay, the hotel is beautiful, the staff are so friendly and attentive, everything was perfect, no negatives, a truly delightful stay, we would love to come back and highly recommend, Harrogate is equally lovely
What a grand old building! The 2 young guys on reception, Jadon & Alfie went out of their way to help us. Our booking by an agency had been mixed up, the parking and breakfast had not been added, but these guys went out of their way to make sure we got them. Our suite was on the top floor (5th) but there is a very swift lift. The suite itself was gorgeous, a separate room with sofa and tv, then a huge bedroom with everything yiu could ever need including a 6ft wide bed that was really comfortable. The bathroom also was big with a good shower. Breakfast is served at a set time and we were served quickly by 2 lovely ladies. The food was nice and plentiful. I would totally recommend The Yorkshire Hotel to anybody staying in Harrogate. Its a stunning hotel situated near the town centre. The staff go out if their way to help and are really friendly. Thank you Jason & Alfie your help was really appreciated.
Excellent hotel, perfect location, lovely and clean, pleasant staff, comfortable room with everything required for our stay. The only downside is the lack of parking, but a multi storey car park is 5 minutes walk away. Would stay again and recommend to others.
A lovely hotel. Well-situated for central Harrogate. Our room - suite with balcony - was excellent and a joy to be in. Compared to many hotels and even guest houses in which we have stayed, bathroom toiletries were in very short supply and definitely not befitting a hotel of this standard. Breakfast was poor. The staff were obviously under pressure - not enough of them to service the number of guests. A lack of joined up thinking in the hotel's approach. We stayed in a Premier Inn earlier in our holiday where the breakfast was substantially superior and served in a timely fashion. When you pay double the cost, you expect at least the same service but this was not so. The staff themselves were polite and hard-working so no blame attached to them. I would definitely recommend the hotel but, like most things in hospitality, do try to get the little things right and a more positive review will always follow.
Lovely hotel! Would definitely recommend. All staff so lovely and accommodating. Rooms and en suite decorated really nicely and with plenty of space. Breakfast very nice however wish there was more variety although I appreciate this is probably due to covid and limitations which is understandable. The location is perfect, very clothes to shops and restaurants, would definitely stay here again!
Firstly the Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Reception is lovely and it was easy to check in Disappointed that the room did not have air conditioning and also the shower was really really hot. Tried everything to turn the temperature down but to no avail. Also a little disappointed with breakfast. I appreciate it's difficult at the moment as we aren't allowed to get up and get our own but we were only brought 1 slice of toast per person and the full English was a little dry (no beans or tomatoes) Overall i thought the cost (£271 for a double inc parking and breakfast) was a little high. I appreciate its in the centre of Harrogate but for the overall standard I would say £170 is more reasonable.
What a beautiful hotel! First class quality, with the comfort of pleasant, helpful staff. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere all working together with the freshest tastiest food. Thank you Chef, and your team. I've already sent out photos to friends and family!
Having not been away for 18 months we decided to book a King room with King bed and balcony. The photos on the website were really impressive, so we booked a 2 night stay for earlier this month and were so looking forward to our mini break. We booked a room with a balcony so we could enjoy a drink or two and just relax outside and people watch. Unfortunately this was not the case, we were extremely disappointed with the room we were allocated, we had room 104 which had a musty smell to it when we walked in and we found the room dingy, dark and quite dated, which to be fair we could live with as it is an old hotel and not utilized much recently due to covid. However, the main problem was the balcony, there were pigeon droppings on the floor, on the window to the bathroom, on the balustrades and even on a cushion on one of the chairs. The balcony floor was in desperate need of a coat of paint, there were cigarette dimps on the floor in a missing tile near the balustrade, obviously no ash tray provided for previous guest. Basically the balcony was unhygienic and a health hazard and therefore we were unable to sit out and enjoy the view. I appreciate it's difficult to control pigeons, but a weekly deep clean and additional cleaning time in between guests for rooms with balconies should be a minimum requirement. There were also a couple of minor issues, which again you can put up with, the ceiling light vibrated and a noise of glass on glass was evident when anyone in the room above walked across their room, and the left hand light on the mirror above the dressing table continually flickered. Now, having said all that the positives. We found all the staff extremely helpful, efficient and very friendly, and found the food to be excellent. We had a snack when we arrived, an evening meal in the Pickled Sprout and had a very good breakfast. We decided not to stay for 2 nights and checked out at approx 4.00pm on the second day due to the condition of the balcony, I did email the hotel detailing all the issues we found and their Assistant Manager did reply and apologized for the negative experience and did in fact admit they were aware of the pigeon issues and had a plan in place to improve these areas. Perhaps it would be a good idea to inform guests beforehand of the issues created by the pigeons so they can make an informed decision on which room to book ? Quite annoyed that the management are aware of issues and not advising guests. We were offered a 25% discount on our next stay by way of an apology, but we shall not be returning to this hotel. I did respond to his email and stated that I would have a least expected a refund for the night we didn't stay, but as yet have not had a reply and obviously this refund does not appear to be forthcoming. My advice, look elsewhere, if you do decide to stay, do not book room 104.
I would just like to thank Georgia on reception, check-in was smooth and we were made to feel welcome from the start. Chloe provided us a comfortable area to meet with family members in order to talk about a sensitive issue, and service was impeccable. Ian Young during the night allowed us to feel relaxed and welcome to sit for as long as we needed downstairs. The gentleman on checkout (apologies I did not catch name) was cheerful which made us smile after a difficult week. All the service was impeccable, everyone we met was approachable, welcoming and catered for every need. Thank you so much.
This is an excellent hotel in a superb location close to the town centre. It's very clean and felt safe regarding COVID-19 due to the systems employed by the hotel. All staff were helpful, friendly and polite. We had no problem parking the car which was reasonably priced. We will definitely return.
Excellent hotel really enjoyed our stay here .Room was extremely clean and bed was comfy. The pickled sprout restaurant is superb and offers a wide range of food selection including gluton free option .Staff where polite and friendly. Will be staying here again .
Our first trip away for 15 months. The hotel was clean and the reception staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was a guddle each morning due to lack of staff/ someone in charge but everyone was very pleasant, just disorganised. Pre booking a breakfast slot was not an issue for us. The rooms were not cleaned during our stay (COVID) and this was fine. Anything needed was quickly provided. The hotel is furnished in grey- walls, carpets, curtains and while all very fresh, it's a little austere. The hotel is well placed as long as you don't mind parking in the multi-storey car park 10 minutes walk away. We liked the central location. We would use the hotel again due to it's location and would hope the post COVID issues would all have been dealt with.
Nice large room with views of the green and Betty's. Really helpful and friendly restaurant team, great food (best house burger ever) and views from the Pickled Sprout balcony on a warm June evening. Perfect!
If I was just rating the hotel, then I'd certainly give 4 stars. It's modern, clean, centrally located. Reception staff very helpful and pleasant. However, I've rated my experience as 3 stars. I had asked for the room to be set as a twin and on arrival the receptionist realised they hadn't done this but they very quickly amended it without any fuss. Booked into the hotel restaurant The Pickled Sprout for evening meal. Waited 15 mins before being offered a drink. The meals we had were average and for the cost, next time I'd book into somewhere in Harrogate. We weren't asked 'is everything ok with your meal?'. The signs in the hotel say the breakfast room is on the 5th floor. I went to the 5th floor for breakfast to be told it was being served in The Pickled Sprout on the ground floor. I appreciate covid may have something to do the change but the signs should be updated. Breakfast was good. Although the background choice of music wasn't, it was more suited for a night out, with one particular song playing with swear words right through it, I'm not a prude but it just seemed that this hadn't been thought through. Parking outside the hotel is limited and costly.
Very nice hotel. Excellent location right in the town centre within walking distance of the baths, valley gardens and lots of restaurants and pubs. Room newly renovated with big windows. Very clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Highly recommended
Having stayed at this hotel before they have given the restaurant and bar area a complete make over and making it a very vibrant place to eat and drink. The menu has also changed and has an extensive choice for everybody with great service.
This hotel was perfect. Room immaculate, bathroom was very nice. Hairdryer and iron provided. Black out curtains. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again as very central location. The staff were all very welcoming.
We love staying here we can around the town Center at our leisure. Lots of things to see and do. Lots of places to eat and bars too visit. Interesting shops to visit too. Don't miss going to eat and have tea at Betty's
Stayed for one night because of the central location, room requests were provided thank you. Room was on 2nd floor over looking the front garden area, very clean & comfortable, nice walk in shower but no rails for the towels. Parking is disappointing as felt it was first come first served in the spaces outside the hotel but when we checked in it was fully booked, but some cones in some spaces, not great when you are with an elderly relative. Hotel obviously had a full upgrade, pickled sprout looked good, we didn't eat there but had a drink on the front balcony outside. Lovely stay, really enjoyed it, would hesitate re booking only because of the parking. Really good sanitising & cleanliness too.
A disappointing stay. We selected this hotel for the convenience of a town centre location. No loading or unloading spaces at the door. We had to drive into the town to find a space to unload and pay. Then had to walk along the street pulling our suitcases. The carpark recommended by the hotel was a 10 minute fast walk to a multi-story to get parked on the 6th floor, and there was no lift. From arrival to getting in our room took almost 1 hour. The walk to the carpark was not good on a wet and windy day. In the room we had lots of problems, the shower temperature was uncontrollable, too cold or scalding, the wifi crashed, tv reception was abysmal. Heating in the room and bathroom was inadequate. Bathroom window wouldn't shut completely and there was no blind on the window which looked out onto Prospect Place.
My first time at the Yorkshire Hotel & won't be my last. Brilliant staff, couldn't be more helpful. Parked right outside the hotel(£12 for 24 hours) but hotel takes a central position close to the shops, bars & restaurants & right across the road from Betty's tearooms. Room immaculate in fact the whole hotel was. Bed was spacious & very comfortable. Beautiful decor & a fantastic collection of art on the walls. Already looking forward to a return visit
Fantastic hotel , great location central Harrogate. The decor, rooms all excellent well worth the 4☆ worthy of a 5☆ . Staff immaculately dressed & all very friendly and helpful. Restaurant is well worth the visit . Very covid organised. Excellent value for money. We will be back soon
Just got back from an excellent stay at The Yorkshire Hotel what a gem, the hotel full of yorkshire hospitality from start to finish from reception staff to waiters to cleaners everybody polite, professional and immaculately dressed . Very covid savvy excellent procedures throughout the hotel from entrance to exit . The hotels decor throughout is luxurious and comfortable without feeling stuffy The restaurant was spacious yet felt exclusive the food excellent like a picture on a plate and scrumptious .Will definitely be back !! .
This hotel offers luxury and it's at an affordable price I was pleasantly surprised at the interior design, modern clean bedrooms hotel of this standard are usually much more expensive All the staff I dealt with couldn't have been more helpful and friendly The breakfast was ok, black pudding was too cold for my husband and he wasn't keen on his scrambled eggs either but for £76 a night it was worth it I'd stay again
This hotel is excellent. The staff are warm and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and well decorated. Covid protocols are spot on. The food from the Pickled Sprout was delicious. 2nd visit will definitely come again. Thank you
Stopped here for lunch on the beautiful new lawn area, make sure you book in advance, so glad we did, had a very enjoyable few hours, great food, drinks & friendly & attentive staff. Next time we visit Harrogate will definitely be booking to stay here
Bang in town centre, easy parking, shops etc. Room really nice and with character, restaurant really good (and I don't normally eat at restaurants in hotels!) Staff polite and professional and attentive
Only downside is limited car parking didn't use restaurant or bar so cant comment but room spacious and clean and good location. Was able also to leave luggage securely whilst we went into town after checkout.
Great place. Lovely welcoming staff and delicious food. Our room was compact but had everything we needed. It's so central with gorgeous views across the gardens. Social distance rules were fully complied with and staff worked hard to keep everything spotless. Will definitely be back.
We recently stayed here for three nights and would certainly choose to stay here again... We managed to secure a parking space right outside the hotel at a cost of £12 per night- though not cheap it was so convenient and easy. The room was lovely and spacious and the bed very comfy - temperature of the room not too hot not too cold. Lovely shower with lots of hot water. Newly refurbished restaurant was fab we had two evening meals there. Breakfast excellent too.
First time back in 4 years and what a difference they have nearly completed a full (much needed) refit. We really enjoyed our stay and will return soon. The rooms are very well set out and spacious. Excellent bar/restaurant service.
Lovely hotel with fantastic large rooms which are luxurious and comfortable. We booked one of the junior suites which had a separate living room. The food was fantastic we had an evening meal and breakfast there, The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Stunning from the outside all the way through. Very efficient & friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble, room was stunning & breakfast was delightful! Will 100% be staying here again & for longer!
Overall, stay was very good. Booking via website, made easy and quickly. I made a mistake at time of booking and quickly sorted after a phone call. I did email to ask to make a dinner reservation but never received a reply. Check in was done smoothly and all details explained. Room - very clean, fully equipped, very stylish. Dinner in the evening was great, along with the service. Great wine and cocktails. Breakfast - good service and good breakfast. Check out was smooth and quick. Overall great stay and would definitely return.
We arrived slightly after check in time. Check in was smooth and efficient, rooms looks recently refurbed, all areas of the hotel looks freshly refurbed. Some work was being carried out during our stay. Definitely worth booking a table in their restaurant, food was excellent and the service very good. Breakfast was great and check out was smoothly again. Overall great stay and would recommend to others.
Great location, comfortable rooms and good restaurant/bar, only let down was very slow service in the restaurant other than that great. Social distancing all done very well and plenty of space in the restaurant.
Beautiful hotel. Staff really friendly and lovely modern rooms it's in a Perfect location right in the centre of harrogate. The bar looked beautiful too if you wanted to stay in and have a meal in the evening.
First time at the Yorkshire Hotel and such a great place & central location. Nicely refurbished and back open for our weekend away, definitely didn't disappoint. Gentlemen on reception was very helpful and straight forward, even ensured the 2 rooms we had booked were next to each other. With current restrictions in place, the hotel provided reassurance with cleanliness. Rooms were also of a good standard apart from our friends who had a front corner facing room. Which was a little cold and did struggle to get warm. Maybe a bigger heater would help, otherwise great rooms and well presented. Would highly recommend and will be back.
A really nice night - in difficult circumstances! Bar has smashing - loads of atmosphere, room was lovely. Have to say breakfast was just a little above average - but again, given the circumstances nothing to complain about - and we will be back, when we are able to make full use of all the facilities both you and Harrogate have to offer. Thank all the staff for all their hard work, and help in difficult circumstances.
What a wonderful hotel! We felt really comfortable with all the Covid-19 restrictions in place from the temperature check coming through the front door, to the supplies of tea and coffee etc being left outside the room instead of daily housekeeping. Only niggle was the heater which didn't work, but we were provided with a portable heater. Ask for a room with either front or side facing, rather than internal view. The hotel was really central for everything (especially Betty's!) and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and superb food. Delicious breakfast served on the 5th floor room with a view. Thank you and we'll be back as soon as we can!
Absolutely loved my stay, wished I'd booked two nights! everything was easy and smooth and my bed so comfy! My room was quiet and super clean, the only thing I'd have added is herbal tea bags. Thank you :-)
Excellent weekend stay. Check in went very smooth given the current Covid-19 restrictions, all measures strictly followed. Very informative check-in. Bedrooms were very spacious (standard double), 4th floor with a great view (room 411). Breakfast, again given the coved procedures went very smoothly and the quality was fantastic. Scan bar / restaurant (we did not order food) but the bar had excellent service and cocktails were outstanding. We have already decided to stay again and will book as soon as lockdown is over
Needed accomodation quickly whilst waiting for house purchase to go through....(think we will have a long wait now!) Booked 3 nights initially but happily extended to 6 further nights as the hotel fitted the bill perfectly. Really helpful staff, great breakfast, 2nd Room was fab (412) and we will def' request it next time we visit for leisure purposes Efficient fast wifi - so perfect as I needed to work in room
Very clean hotel with modern rooms. Fantastic location short walking distance to most attractions. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. This will be my first choice hotel for my next visit! We didn't eat in the restaurant but would say the food is reasonably priced.
Lovely hotel, very clean and polite staff, brilliant location right opposite Betty's tea rooms, bars and restaurants on the doorstep, rooms modern and beds comfortable, valley gardens well worth a visit
Hotel in fantastic location, staff professional and pleasant. Still a buzzy atmosphere despite covid restrictions with all precautions in place. Serves the best Pornstar Martinis. Highly recommend restaurant. Rooms slightly dated otherwise would have been 5 stars. Definitely the best place to stay in Harrogate centre.
Pros: clean beautiful building, the room was very comfortable and the bed was lovely. The room was warm and cosy. Cons: parking is a bit inconvenient when the hotel car park is full and the app in the multi-storey doesn't work. Small double room in a lovely hotel for £44 a night - great value
It was a last minute booking Lovely stay Exceeded expectation Late checking and early checkiout due to o prior arrangements did not affect my experience as I had a very good night rest in a very comfortable and clean environment
We had a lovely stay in a beautiful hotel. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, reception, housekeeping and bar staff. Our only issue was being woken up every morning while we there by waste trucks, deliveries and street cleaners so early in the morning from 5am, this is because we were in a rear room at the back of the hotel. It did make us a little tired during the day. The hotel is in a perfect location, very central to shops, bars and restaurants. We will return but book a front facing room next time. I advise others to book the front to.
we booked this on a booking.com offer due to current covid-19 issues we required a fully cancellation deal. Our room was on 1st floor above bar and overlooking back of hotel and both mornings I was woken by deliveries and bin collections at 5am. No bottled water in room was disappointing and paper cups for hot drinks in room. The hotel staff were very polite and friendly and the position of the hotel meant everything was on your doorstep. A nice break but next time I'd ask for a higher floor at front of hotel.
Stayed overnight at The Yorkshire Hotel last week. We were more than happy with our room whilst only a small double it was pleasantly spacious, shower room was great too nice hot shower. Check in staff friendly, and check in was speedy. We didn't eat in the hotel, we had a reservation at Saranda a wonderful Greek restaurant a few minutes walk away, which was why we picked The Yorkshire Hotel, but would definitely stay there again .
Really convenient for everything in Harrogate-a great location just opposite Betty's! Nice spacious room, clean comfortable bed and good bathroom! Bar and meals served although we ate elsewhere. Good attention to cleanliness and friendly staff.
A very good deal brought us back to the Yorkshire. Superb reception staff sorted us out quickly and efficiently and booked us into Scran. Room comfortable and clean. Breakfast tasty too. Looking forward to our next trip.
We stayed for a couple of nights - the staff were very friendly and when we arrived and parked in someone else's space they were beyond helpful in ensuring we got a space sorted - £12 a day is a steep price but to know you've got a space for the duration of your stay makes it worth it. The hotel and rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast was very yummy. My only gripe is that I'm a light sleeper (not the hotels problem I know!) - we were on the 1st floor at the back of the hotel, luckily at the moment everywhere shuts at 10am but I imagine during normal times it would be quite noisy. Perhaps ask for a room on a higher floor if you also sleep lightly. Highly recommend if you want to be central.
This Hotel is to be recommended, the Hotel is central to Harrogate Town, car parking at a minimal charge, the staff are very helpful, the bedrooms are very clean, a pleasure to stay here at very good value for money
My husband and I stayed at the Yorkshire for one night at the end of September. There is some parking available (payable) directly outside the hotel on a first come first served basis. Covid-19 safety precautions are excellent at the hotel. Temperature checks on entry to the hotel and plenty of sanitisers all over the hotel. We stayed in a lovely suite at the front of the hotel. The suite was large with a separate living room. Lovely period features including a huge fireplace. We had a balcony the length of the two rooms overlooking the park opposite. Great to sit out and watch the world go by. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Our bed was large and comfortable. We ate in the hotels restaurant 'Scran' in the evening. I can highly recommend the Mac & Cheese and my husbands steak was cooked perfectly. Nice cocktails too. We had breakfast in the dining room on the 5th floor. Lovely cooked breakfast and the most wonderful views of Harrogate can be seen from there. All the staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely visit again.
Stunning hotel in a very central location. The staff were very nice and the hotel was kept spotless. We were made to feel very safe at this difficult time, we will return in the future..... Thank you.
Good points- Central location, food in the scran restaurant was tasty, the cocktail offer (2 for £10) was reasonable, staff were friendly. Bad points- had to move rooms due to our window in the bathroom breaking. Due to no more suits we got downgraded (refunded for the price) which kind of put a dampener on our stay because we paid a little extra for more space. The parking outside the hotel is £12 a day which I thought was a little pricey, the shower in both rooms wasn't very powerful.
This luxurious hotel is situated in the centre of Harrogate and within easy walking distance of all the main sites and amenities. Our bebr4oom overlooked Betty's Café and The Stray - the two iconic features of Harrogate and only a short walk to The Pump Room.and Valley Gardens. Our initial concern was safety and this Hotel seemed to be very Covid-Safe. A machine at the door takes temperatures as guests entered and the reception area was well protected. Staff were very careful and considerate. Room service was a little different as no staff entre the room during each visitor's stay. Breakfast was good and we had a great evening meal.
Me and my partner are staying here for the weekend on arrival we were greeted by a lovely member staff. After we went to the bar we're I had THE BEST strawberry daiquiri ever and I love a cocktail! The bar is a must. Tom knows exactly what he is doing and if your like myself a lover of cocktails you need to very visit!
Stayed here for a week whilst colouring the area. Was upgraded to a suite on the front first floor. Absolutely lovely room with a balcony that we frequently used. We had a nice sitting room and hardly heard a peep from anything all the time we were there. We kept the windows closed at night because of the traffic. Felt very Covid secure. Sanitiser all over the place. No one came into our room all week making it feel very safe, and replacement teas and coffees were left outside our door. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant. Food was to die for but the music was a bit too loud for us, though it did create a buzzing atmosphere. We parked in the Tower Street car park which does a night rate from 4 pm and it was just a 5 minute walk on the flat to the hotel. I would ha e no hesitation in returning to this lovely hotel.
hotel in need of updating. Although it was very comfortable, staff amazing friendly. Nothing too much for them. Food a little on the expensive side but affordable. Loads of interesting places to visit. thoroughly enjoyed our stay will be back in a heartbeat.
Visited last weekend for 1 night. We had a room on the 4th floor which was a corner room with 3 big windows overlooking the rooftops of Harrogate. Room was a nice size, modern decorated in grey. Bathroom was lovely too. Parking was chargeable at £12 which we were happy with right outside the hotel. Hotel is a great central location within walking distance of shops bars and restaurants. Bar was reasonably priced too. I wouldnt look at another hotel this one is great.
We were given a warm welcome once we'd managed the temperature check. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast and service throughout the hotel was exemplary. We will definitely stay there again.
Amazing hotel, very reasonable, room was lovely and big, bathroom fantastic, lots of room and huge shower! Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was spot on and the views from the restaurant were fabulous. Excellent location. We will definitely be returning.
This was the our first ever visit to Harrogate, and we could not have picked a better hotel to stay in, its location is just as you drive into town so no problem finding it, and its only a 2 minute walk into the centre and all that Harrogate has to offer with its huge array of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants too many to chose from. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very comfortable, our room was on the front overlooking the green and the main road but its far enough away not to be disturbed, we both had a fantastic sleep in our very comfortable bed. rooms and bathrooms all come withe everything you need to make you stay one to remember. we ate in the restaurant (Scran) and it was lovely, all the food and drinks were served to our table by the very welcoming and friendly staff. Breakfast the next morning was served on the top floor with some fantastic views, service and food again was just perfect. We had only booked for one night but as we fell in love with the place we booked an extra night. we will be returning in the near future for another stay. Well done The Yorkshire Hotel and all the staff, keep up the good work in these difficult times.
We had a really lovely stay here last week. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was small but comfortable... Good value for money and great location. Would definitely stay again! Many thanks!
I don't normally write reviews as I sometimes find that some of the critics are usual harsh and fussy and don't give a true reflection of the hotel but on this occasion I thought I would share my views in case it helps anyone. The Location – Ideally located right in the middle of Harrogate with easy access to all local amenities. The Hotel – A great looking hotel which is nicely presented and has a premium look in the lobby area there's also parking right outside for a cost. The staff were very polite and helpful and couldn't fault them. The Room – I stayed in room 301 which is a junior suite, the first impressions of the room was very spacious with a good size lounge, large bedroom and ok bathroom. It was well decorated and had a premium feel to it. However upon closer inspection the bed was two singles joined together and the mattresses had different levels of wear and I woke with a bad back for both mornings. The floors creaked badly and you could also hear the guests above walking about on noise creaky floor boards. Having decided to go for a higher priced room you would expect to get a few benefits included in the premium rooms. The views from all windows were awful we were faced with a small square of walls and windows. (Pics Included) The windows were other guest's rooms which looked directly into ours and were only about 10 metres apart. I had to keep the curtains drawn for the whole stay for some privacy. The bathroom was nice but quite small and to be honest I think Premier Inns have better bathrooms, There were no blinds just patterned glass windows so at night you could be seen in the bathroom and the window also opened to a view of the back of some bars which in the morning from 7am all you could hear was barrels and bottles being thrown around by incoming staff. The TV's in the rooms are dated and need to be upgraded to the latest technology. I would also have expected to find some glasses and cups for drinks. We had 2 paper cups provided for use with the tea making kit. I would at least expect to find cups this is the only hotel I've stayed in that has done this. On arrival I decided to request breakfast for 2 people for both days and also had to pay to park the car at the hotel. So your price for a premium room suddenly jumps up quite a bit. £72 for parking and breakfast! Breakfast is on the 5th floor in a restaurant which overlooks Harrogate with fantastic views which I would have loved in my room. It has a relaxing feel and the staff or more than welcoming and helpful. I can't say the same for the breakfast. We requested a full cooked breakfast with fruit and yogurt to start. We requested the toast be brought out with the hot food. A few moments later the yogurts arrived with the toast, before I could ask where my fruit was the hot food arrived too. I hadn't even finished my yogurt. To be honest to breakfast was not worth £24 for 2. I ended up cancelling breakfast for the second day and went to McDonald's which is a 2 minute walk away. If drinking the Scran restaurant is very expensive I paid £16 for double gin and pint. We didn't try the food but apparently that's very nice. Overall the stay was ok. I'm not sure if I would stay here again if I did I would go for a cheaper room and would depend on the price. As it was for a special occasion I was going to stay at the Majestic by Hilton which was £100 more for the same level of room. I think I would have preferred to pay that because that included parking and breakfast and is a higher standard of hotel. My review reflects my stay at the Yorkshire and I'm not intending on picking holes I'm sure there are a lot of satisfied guests but my review reflects my opinion of the stay at Junior Suite level and expectations from a premium room. I think I would probably good for a cheaper deluxe room if I stayed again.
We had booked directly with the hotel. Our room was 104, a Kings Room with balcony. Check in was easy with hand sanitises around the hotel and a body temperature machine at both entrances. The room was spacious. Unfortunately the mattress needs to be replaced, both had a hollow in them. The room isn't serviced each day because of the pandemic. Basic toiletries, tea and coffee left at the door each morning. Out room had a massive flat screen television. The bathroom was well set out with a double walk in shower. All the staff wear face coverings when walking around the hotel guests are asked to do the same. My wife is disabled, the flat level entrance is to the rear through the restaurant. Parking is always an issue in Harrogate, but in all the years we have been staying at four star hotels in the town this is the first time we have been charged. If you are in a similar situation you are asked to contact the hotel in advance in order that a space will be reserved for your car. I did and when we arrived there was a traffic cone with my name attached to it. The charge is £12 a night, I'm sorry to say I regard this as a disabled person tax. But it is what it is. Breakfast was served at the table with all the usual items available. What did find strange with a hotel of this standing, restaurant staff wore normal clothing such a denim jeans. All in all an enjoyable stay and will consider returning.
Amazing staff so friendly food the best in any uk hotel we've stayed in & we've stayed in a few!! Overall brilliant experience thank yo, totally recommended. Covid rules applied very hygiene friendly can't fault anything would definitely stay there again
Fabulous location, spacious room , would've given five stars but the breakfast was poor quality only had it first morning out of three. Will return to Harrogate again as so much going on and a foodies paradise with so much choice.
Nice hotel in a beautiful old building in the centre of Harrogate. We found the staff to be helpful and pleasant and the bedrooms appeared to have been fairly recently renovated to a good basic standard. Full covid procedures were in place and we felt very safe and relaxed during our 3 night stay. For safety reasons our room was not serviced each day but fresh towels were available on request and replacement coffee/tea sachets/milk were left outside our room each morning. Will have no hesitation in staying again on our next visit.
Our first time in Harrogate, this hotel is just brilliant. Our room was spacious and clean, had breakfast two mornings and this was really good, the staff are so pleasant and welcoming, reception booking in was so easy. Had a few drinks sat outside on the beautiful gardens, so chilled and relaxing. Such a comforting and well kept hotel and will look forward to a return visit very soon. Thankyou everyone.
Check in was perfectly seamless. Everything was clearly explained. COVID is taken seriously with regards to social distancing, face coverings & hygiene. The hotel itself was beautiful. The decor was gorgeous & on trend. All areas were spotlessly clean. Staff were really friendly & helpful. Our room (306) was a great size, well equipped & the bathroom was large, with the most wonderful smell in there, also very well equipped in the bathroom. We ate in the restaurant, the food was lovely & drinks equally great, pricing was good also. Service was wonderful & the staff all really smartly dressed, happy faces & all round lovely. Felt very welcome & comfortable in the hotel & bar/restaurant. Overall, we had a really fabulous stay for our first time in Harrogate. Thank you so much & we will certainly be back again.
Decided to stop a night in Harrogate and chose this hotel as it's in the centre and you can't knock the location. There is a multi storey car park nearby that cost £6.20 for 24 hour parking, which is quite good compared to other centre car parks. The hotel is clean and the rooms may be small in size but are adequate for the purpose of sleeping and getting ready in, after all who needs to swing a cat while sleeping. However, the rooms are what leads me to now give the hotel a 3 on this review. We stayed the night of what had been a warm day. The rooms have no air conditioning units. I know it's Yorkshire but we do occasionally have warm nights and are now in the 21st century where modern big hotels should have these in the rooms. Both of us woke in the night feeling to hot to sleep and had to ring down to reception where credit to them they quickly delivered an office fan (this is why I'm not scoring it as a 2) We did have the windows opened as far as we could, which wasn't much, but it was noisy and was informed it was the extractor fan from the kitchens. Basically we didn't get a good nights sleep, which is the basic purpose of any hotel stay. A more minor point was that the windows could do with some blinds on. They are full length and unless you're an exhibitionist, had to keep the curtains constantly closed. Which wasn't made easier by the main light not working. Breakfast was nice but for £10 I might recommend having a walk into town to try out some of the local cafes nearby. To conclude, a good location with a clean hotel that is worth staying in as long as you don't go on hot days and evenings.
Just left after an amazing 3 day break at this beautiful hotel . We will definitely be back . The Hotel itself is just stunning . You are able to sit out on the terrace and have drinks or on the beautiful grounds across from the hotel. The restaurant is beautiful and the cocktails are to die for and very reasonable . All the staff were so lovely to us especially the breakfast staff . The hotel is in the absolute best location just across from the famous Bettys ! Everything on its door step beautiful bard and restaurants . The train station is a five minute walk we never used the car the whole time we were here we took the train to York one day and the absolutely beautiful Knaresborough the next . Gutted to be going home ! Thank you to all the amazing staff see you soon ! (photograph is the view from our room window )
Really lovely room which was much bigger than expected, with a fantastic bathroom and waterfall shower. Everyone we met was very welcoming and the breakfast was one of the best we have ever had from a hotel. Definitely coming again: thank you!
First time in Harrogate.Great hotel very central to town and all pubs and restaurants. Nice rooms , friendly staff and nice bar and restaurant. Harrogate itself is a lovely place and not far to travel to York .
Stayed their for 2 nites .Had booked mobility parking but no mobility rooms were available. In arrive our space was reserved but it was just a normal space .luckily my wife was not in a wheel chair plus their were no wheelchair access from the front . Room was lovely and we had a great view from our windows. We eat in the hotels restaurant both nites which was lovely. Food was great plus they were doing cocktails offers so we had a few lol .Staff were all great and on checking out we found the receptionist was brought up in the same county as us ...Fife. Would defo go bac to the hotel
If your looking for a warm Yorkshire welcome in a grand Yorkshire hotel this is the place for you. The staff are great and the ambiance is really nice Great service excellent food and a really cool bar that doesn't close until you're done !!!
In general we really enjoyed our 3 nights at the Yorkshire Hotel. Room 104 was very clean and spacious. We loved sitting on the balcony. We ate in the restaurant one night. The meal was OK but nothing special. Now the confusing bit. There was a card in the room saying 50% off or upto £10 per person on food and soft drinks during September in the restaurant. Our bill came to £36 and we were charged full price. I told the girl about the offer and she said that had ended and the card should have been removed. She said she would honour the discount though. Now the really not good bit although not down to the hotel. There was a disturbance outside the hotel entrance on the afternoon of our second day. Police attended and were there for about an hour. They removed the gentleman involved. At 03.30 on the morning of our departure, we were woken by loud banging. This went on for about ten minutes. Then began shouting and loud talking. We went onto the balcony to see two police officers and the same gentleman from the previous afternoon. A further four police officers the arrived. The talking went on for approximately one hour and we were unable to get back to sleep. When I mentioned this to the receptionist at checkout they said they were not aware of any incident which I found very hard to believe. Surely there is a hand over between staff shifts. As I said, not the hotels fault but lack of sleep and a three hour drive home did spoil our stay.
Stayed here before but not for some time. Everything in order to help with the cleanliness at this time of the virus. Room very clean and bed comfortable which is what I think is a must wherever you go. Staff lovely and Jason a very nice chatty young man when booking me in. Harrogate is a great place to visit with so much in a short walk from the Yorkshire. Betty's tea room across the road and the shops nearer still. Parking nearby,( parking meters) but can get busy due to the popularity of Harrogate. Multi story parking available but you would need directions, while it is'nt far from the hotel it's part of a one way type system. Harlow gardens not far though I believe you have to book to go in at this moment in time. Worth a visit though. Knaresborough a 10 drive away and Skipton always worth a visit especially on market days.
To be honest I am not sure how best to grade our experience at the Yorkshire Hotel. Finally I have decided that I would remove one star for each of our lesser experiences. I have replaced names of staff with their first name initial. Firstly the room was not as expected or advertised on the website pictures. We decided to book a deluxe room as we had read from previous reviews that some Junior Suites did not have a view. The room was small. Probably the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in. It did not have a sofa as depicted. I queried with the head of housekeeping ‘A' that the room was indeed a deluxe room. She confirmed it was, but advised not all deluxe rooms had a sofa in them! We accepted her offer of free parking for the duration of our stay. A letter, lady ‘A' said would be posted under the room door never arrived. Secondly, after going for a walk we returned to freshen up we noticed the bathroom had a lingering urine smell. Not sure whether it was the floor or the drainage. Couldn't smell it in the bedroom. On the wall behind the bathroom door was numerous speckles of faeces. We asked at reception for it to be cleaned before we returned from our evening out. It wasn't and we had to wait for a further 40 mins before it was finally cleaned. Thirdly, on departure, senior lady ‘C' on reception was very apologetic and agreed a reduction in charges to our prepaid 2 night stay and advised we would receive an email later same day. Room charges and parking fees have been reimbursed but we are still waiting for the email. I have posted a separate review for the excellent hotel bar & restaurant ‘Scran'.
Stayed in the Yorkshire Hotel for 4 nights. The room lovely with a great view over the gardens to the front. The bed very comfy and huge! The bathroom was spacious and more than accommodating. Facilities included an iron & kettle. The hotel itself is lovely and bar on the ground floor very nice! Brilliant location and an easy walk into town which took a few minutes. I'd stay here again. Downsides: The shower had no pressure at all and was a mere trickle which made it more difficult to have a good wash. Very limited parking which was full on arrival & a £12 charge per night. We parked to the nearby Jubilee car park a short walk away which was only £5.50 over night. It was fairly noisy on the main street outside overnight with windows open. Breakfast was just ok, very greasy bacon & tough as my shoe. Not much option. Paid for 4 days breakfast but only ate once due to this. I'd give 5 stars otherwise if it wasn't for the above.
Kind, Helpful, staff well explained rules, given a room at the back , rules for lifts easy, restraunt then was not open , parking possible you pay a small amount, views for breakfast from 5th floor, everything done in good order, location if you need to you kind walk to railway station, The management could not do enough to advise and help
Visited for first time since Christmas stay.Meet with a very warm welcome at reception(as usual).Covid rules explained very well and no issues in the Hotel.Although a great Hotel for the money the Staff are the biggest asset, very polite,Chantel can be very proud of her staff. Just be aware that outside the Hotel can be a bit noisy in the early hours but is not in the control of the Yorkshire. Go, you will not be dissapointed.
Stayed here for the second time this year. We love the hotel. The bedrooms are very comfortable, and have excellent bathrooms. The breakfast room is on the top floor and the views of Harrogate are stunning. We also enjoy dining in Scran restaurant part of the hotel. It is excellent. At the front of the hotel outside they have created a drinking area ,with deckchairs and a beach. a very novel idea. We felt totally safe as regards covid .Every precaution was taken by them.
The hotel is central to Harrogate so great location if you've just come to visit the town. We arrived early so managed to get a parking spot, but there aren't many spaces so I imagine this could be an issue at peak times. I thought £12 was a little excessive to park and should be included in the room rate. The room was good on the whole, it could've been vacuumed better but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom seemed fairly new. Unfortunately we had a noisy neighbour and the walls were paper thin, so we heard the TV and shouting from them until the early hours. Whilst a noisy guest isn't the hotels fault, I did try to call reception to report this, however noone answered and after 3 calls I gave up.
Fantastic location. Hotel clean, friendly staff and beautiful furnished throughout We enjoyed the 2for1 on the cocktails in the elegant bar in the hotel. Could even sit out the front with the man made beach and enjoy a drink. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend and will definitely be back!
We had a three night stay at this lovely imposing old Georgian hotel just a few days after reopening due to C V 19 lockdown. We were greeted by a friendly and efficient receptionist and given a large and comfortable room. I really wanted a room with a bath but none available but was assured that the room was one of the larger ones and was 'nice' and she was right. The building was impressive from the outside and overlooking the centre of Harrogate and all amenities and was quiet and convenient. Everything was spotlessly clean and well looked after with all social distancing and hygiene facilities in place. Nothing to complain about here. Our only issues, and they were problematic in this day an age, was that whilst having drinks in the bar/restaurant I was on two occasions given a glass with lipstick on that hadn't come off whilst in the dishwasher....not good, although immediately changed by the Barman. Issue two was that in our room there was a table lamp on top of the wardrobe! Thinking that it had been removed due to minimalism in the room when cleaning we left it there but next to it there was a round box containing a cake, partly eaten!!!! The receptionist was aghast and really apologetic and was going to reprimand the cleaner. We returned to our room to find a bottle of Prosecco waiting for us and a card of apology. All very nice but should not have happened. During stays at the moment there is no linen or towel change or room service but anything required can be obtained by phoning down to reception if only we have had a phone in the room, which we asked for twice!!!! This is a lengthy review but needed to be written This is a wonderful hotel and we would normally have been eager to return but under our particularly circumstances we probably wont.
I booked this hotel for me and my six year old daughter as a special treat. We arrived at 2.30pm and our room was ready. Clean and tidy, it was a basic double room. Great location, it had a beach area set up outside with a nice atmosphere. When we got back to the room I realised one of the windows wouldn't open and given the heat it was sweltering. I phoned reception and the lady arrived within minutes. She couldn't open it either so off she went and returned with a fan. Not ideal but she did her best. We had paid £12 each for breakfast and were greeted by a lovely lady. First we had the choice of fruit, yoghurt or a croissant, followed by a full English or bacon sandwich. The fruit and croissant arrived but then seconds later so did the cooked breakfast! I have to say it was one of the worst bacon sandwiches I have ever seen - something I would expect from a back street cafe. The bread was rock hard and easily snapped in half. The bacon looked in a very poor state and certainly not something I'd expect to be served in a lovely hotel like this. It was all barely touched and when I spoke with the lady she was very apologetic and offered me a refund. Nice hotel, fantastic location, get your breakfast elsewhere!
We stayed here with friends only booked for one night but it was lovely so stayed for two nights the staff were polite and welcoming our room was a standard double it was beautiful and clean I would recommend this hotel if your staying in Harrogate
Really lovely stay over in Harrogate for a birthday. The room was bright and spacious with great views out over Harrogate. The staff were friendly and helpful despite an unhappy neighbour trying to interrupt our conversation! The breakfast was nice with a good selection of hot and cold options. The only downfall of our stay was the shower pressure (we were on the 5th floor) and the Scran restaurant. Would definitely stay again.
Great hotel location within the centre of Harrogate. The staff at breakfast each morning were very welcoming and in particular a young lady called Priya who was full of smiles every morning which in these troubling times was very reassuring. Staff regularly hand sanitised and we felt very confident that all safety measures were in place. Thank you for a nice stay hopefully it won't be too long until we get the chance to visit our family again soon.
Having attended a close family funeral we needed a place to stay with our adult teenage daughter. We were given two rooms next to each other, which were both lovely and clean and comfortable. From the reception staff ( both day and night), Scran staff and breakfast staff all were amazing and made us feel valued and welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and made a very difficult day for us so much better. Would recommend this hotel to everyone. A quick shout out to Bernardo, a young gentleman who greeted us at breakfast, keep up the excellent work.
Very helpful staff after a mixup with our room booking via booking.com. Perfect location in the heart of Harrogate. On the doorstep of Betty's and The Ivy. Both fantastic places for drinks and food. A pleasant stay. Will certainly be back.
Situated right in the centre of Harrogate this hotel was great value. It was in the middle of a refurbishment for bar and restaurant so we did not eat or drink here. The room however was perfect and the staff very friendly. The parking was also good value. Would definitely consider staying here again.
Omg what can I say - we loved it! Beautiful rooms lovely staff - they built a beach in Harrogate outside the hotel whilst we had drinks watching them !! So funny watching a porteguese barman shovelling sand with a snow shovel - hilarious!!! Cant wait to go back great breakfasts too- they are refurbishing so couldnt try Scran dining . Plush carpets lovely beds - need to early for parking but cheap parking small walk away . Simon the MD made us feel welcome and gave us anniversary drinks brilliant!!
The restaurant was closed and the hotel lobby was being renovated, neither of which was I informed about prior to arrival. My room was shabby, skirting board coming away from the wall, mirror in bathroom needs to be replaced. Not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. I had to have room service for a meal, and when it arrived it was cold. For a hotel that has only just re-opened I would have thought they could be more prepared. On the plus side the staff were friendly and helpful
Stayed 2 nights at the end of July not long after reopening from lockdown. Would have been 5 stars definitely, except for restaurant still being closed & having to take evening meal elsewhere, although the meal was lovely. And the other reason was that the builders were working quite loudly on the ground floor until quite late on the first night. Staff lovely, breakfast top notch, room adequate & very clean, maybe suggest a safe in room. Parking a little pricey but would deffo return. Thank you the Yorkshire!
We were on the way back to the North West from the East Coast and decided to find a stop off. The Yorkshire were able to accommodate us at short notice with our two children as we already had ptravel cots on us. The price we got this for was incredibly cheap and getting into the room, we could not believe it! It was huge and beautiful! Fantastic value for money, the gentleman at reception was very pleasant, Harrogate itself is a beautiful place and I'd love to visit it and The Yorkshire again.
Beautiful room over looking Harrrogate, staff attentive and Breakfast was really good. The rooms are spacious and impeccably clean. Very impressed over all would stay here again, ideally situated to bars restaurants and shops.
First visit since February , amazing staff , still some refurbishment going on but will be worth it , couldn't stop in our usual room but we're upgraded to a pleasant room, reception staff very helpful , in particular Cathrine who has helped with my birthday bookings in August . Central location , easy access , definitely recommend
Great central hotel friendly staff second time we have stayed .Rooms very big in size . The scran bar do amazing cocktails. Also managed to get parked . Beds very comfortable lots of pillows . All COVID 19 restrictions were implemented. Will definitely be back
Lovely stay felt very safe. Room clean and comfortable and beautiful views... Precautions in place for breakfast and drinks around social distancing .. well worth a visit we would love to-stay again.. Staff friendly nothing too much trouble.
This is our second visit to this hotel. It was so good the first time, we had to come again. The building has an ideal location in the centre of Harrogate. It is a charming hotel with a Yorkshire theme throughout the rooms. The staff are polite and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious (we did have a junior sweet this time) and the beds are very comfy. The breakfast is worth having and sets you up for a day walking around town. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I know we will return again. As a last note, the COVID 19 precautions the hotel have undertaken make you feel very safe.
Came over to spend the weekend with my partner. Fantastic location, staff, amenities and the room was absolutely perfect. Set right in the centre of town so easy access to cafes, restaurants and bars. Will definitely be coming back and look forward to spending more time.
Hotel location was fantastic. Room was clean and shower was lovely. Staff really friendly and helpful. Well set up for the current situation. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again soon! Thank you!
The Yorkshire Hotel is in excellent location overlooking The Stray in Harrogate. The staff were both welcoming and attentive. My room was spotlessly clean with a 'recently refurbished' look. I will be treating myself to another visit soon.
From the moment I arrived until my departure I was well looked after by all the friendly and efficient staff Due to my diamond status with best western I was upgraded to a front facing king complete with balcony The hotel even managed to serve a hot cooked breakfast in Covid safe surroundings I will return for another stay
We stayed at the hotel the weekend lockdown started, although they where all worried about their jobs and focusing on the changes going on at the time the staff still delivered amazing customer service, the food was absolutely delicious and the bed was so comfortable, definitely recommend staying here
The Yorkshire Tea bags prominently displayed in their red packages were a nice touch. Front desk could have used one other staff member but other than that the stay was perfect. Location of the hotel in the centre of Harrogate is also good.
Stayed here for the weekend. Lovely hotel and really central to everything. The rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel has parking outside which isnt enough for the guests. The problem though lies with selfish people who arent staying at the hotel parking there. This needs to be addressed as for us it was a real problem. I would suggest that maybe a barrier and the receoption raise it for you or something because as it is its not working
One of the most beautiful hotels on our European tour. Lovely room with the view. The whole building was so well decorated and pleasant to stay, we didn't want to leave! Service was excellent, nothing was a problem for The Manager. Breakfast was also very enjoyable and many different dishes were catered for.
Great hotel with excellent service, clean and modern rooms. Attentive staff and great facilities. Our room was slightly loud on a night as we could hear the adjacent rooms walking round/talking. Overall really good place to stay.
This was a lovely hotel to stay. The staff are helpful and friendly. The only thing to bear in mind when booking is if you are travelling by car parking can be an issue. Not sure where you could park if one of the hotel parking spots is not free. Food at the restaurant was very good as was breakfast. The view on the fifth floor was a pleasant surprise, something the hotel does not exploit enough. The room was very roomy clean and comfortable. This is definitely a place to consider if your thinking of staying in Harrogate
The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and made us feel very welcome. The hotel was very well presented. The breakfast was excellent offering a wide and varied menu. All in all very good value. The only negative is the parking situation. Limited parking on the street with the first come first served is unavoidable but I feel the charging of the same should not be the case.
Excellent location and really good value for money. The bedrooms are large and well appointed if a little chilly. Good hot breakfast buffet and a bar and restaurant on site. Our first trip to Harogate and I certainly would return and stay here again.
We stayed last weekend in a suite, room 201 which was great, especially having 2 bathrooms and very good value.Charming and efficient reception staff.Hotel is 5 minutes from the station and right opposite the very famous Bettys tearooms. We had excellent breakfast at Weetons on West Park, only 5 minutes walk.We stay in Harrogate on a regular basis and this is our favourite hotel.
We enjoyed our weekend stay and found the hotel to be well-located in the centre of Harrogate, though the expensive hotel parking meant we decided to park a short walk away, where the parking was free (Harlow Terrace). Our large twin room (no 8) was well equipped in the main, though missing some obvious features such as coat hooks on the doors and the small towel rail, couldn't accommodate two sets of towels. One bed had a mattress topper and the second didn't so was less comfortable. Breakfast was ok and the staff throughout the hotel friendly and welcoming. The communal areas in particular will be vastly improved by the face-lift when it happens. I hope prices don't rise as a result, as the hotel is a little pricey for what you get as it is.
We stayed for 1 night at The Yorkshire Hotel. The location is great, right in the centre of Harrogate - directly across from Betty's Tearoom. The reception staff were all friendly and check in was fast with no problems. The breakfast is ok, tea/coffee is brought to your table. The views from the breakfast room are great, you can see all of Harrogate and surrounding areas. My only Negative's would be the parking is £12 for 24 hours (takes you to 11am on checking out) , our room had a noisy window from the wind but it didnt really bother us enough to complain.
Beautiful Hotel ,nicely decorated, room was perfect, brilliant house keeping team ,room was spotless, lovely friendly staff, food was very good will definitely be staying at The Yorkshire again, the next time I visit Harrogate.
Just got back from a mini break at this wonderful hotel. We loved everything about it including all the friendly staff. The price included a very good breakfast up on a high floor with fantastic views of Harrogate. Our evening meal was taken at the restaurant. The young man who served us recommended some of the mini plates on offer. Fish and chips bring one of the dishes. Yum.A lovely team of people in the restaurant. Thank you all for our time in your lovely Yorkshire hotel.
We stayed for one night as a mini break Great value for money. Lovely room Friendly staff and great bar/restaurant area. Over night parking upto 11am the next day again not over price for the time we where there. Buffet breakfast with lovely views.
Lovely room and comfy beds and bedding. Nice a easy check in and check out. We had food at Skran which was lovely and really good value for money! Only downside for me is that we were in a room at the side of the building and could hear a lot of people passing shouting etc outside but not the hotels fault! The heating system in the room also made a really annoying creaking/ticking noise so I had to turn it off at night once i realised that's where the noise was coming from. Walls are quite thin and we could hear everything on the corridors very clearly including all staff/cleaner conversations. We would stay again! Great location.
Great hotel with lovely friendly staff especially the two ladies on reception. Excellent location with close proximity to the shops, bars and restaurants. Nicely decorated rooms, clean and comfy big beds. Breakfast was nice with lovely views.
We have enjoyed our stay. Room is very nice and comfortable there could be a couple of finishing touches may be. Bottle of water etc. Bathroom is a bit cold but this is not a major problem. Staff have been excellent and food very good. Overall we have really enjoyed it. Thanks
I stay away most weeks with work in big corporate hotels & my husband chose this hotel for a change. On arrival reception staff were really friendly and ‘allowed' us to check in early. The room was the cosy double and it definitely was that. However, the bed was comfy and room very clean. The en-suite was snug but fine for 1 night. Great price and would go back again. Really accessible for the town centre.
We stayed here for our 2nd anniversary. We were checked in quickly to our lovely room. The hotel is situated across the road from bettys and you can literally walk everywhere. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and modern
Stayed for two nights and booked directly with the hotel. Pleased with the price, which included breakfast. This hotel was recommended by a friend due to its location, and we couldn't be happier with this, a five minute walk from the station and then everything we needed on the doorstep. We could even see Betty's from our bedroom window! The hotel has been renovated and we could tell - from the thick carpets to the thought that has gone into the decor. We enjoyed breakfast both mornings, a small but full selection including eggs cooked to order. We also enjoyed cocktails from the bar one evening. Every member of staff we met during our stay was pleasant and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to visit the lovely town of Harrogate.
From the moment we arrived to our departure, every member of staff, endeavoured to ensure our stay at The Yorkshie was fantastic. It was refreshing to stay in a hotel where all staff from house-keeping, waitresses, cooks and front of house, were polite, friendly and extremely helpful. This is a strength of the hotel and I have already recommended you to family and friends. My husband and I had a lovely rest in our clean comfortable room, which was fantastic value for money. The breakfast was delicious, great selection with fantastic views of the city! Thank you for having us! We are already planning our next visit in the summer, when it isn't windy and wet!
This was a special weekend away for us, I explained the circumstances to Chloe at the hotel and she went above and beyond to look after us and ensure we had a memorable, wonderful stay, highly recommended hotel in a fantastic location to visit Harrogate.
Food in scran restaurant excellent, espresso martini's excellent , room decor modern and clean. One small drawback , the large capacity elevator was out of service on a couple of occasions, the other lift was only big enough for two people and there are 5 floors !! Other than that a really good friendly stay, hotel staff were friendly and attentive, we recommend a stay here if your ever visiting Harrogate as it's right in the centre.
Fantastic hotel looks great on the outside even better inside with the car park right outside so hassle free. Amazing service everyone was polite and informative very good staff. Great location will definitely book again.
If you are looking for an outstanding hotel in the centre of Harrogate The Yorkshire is hard to beat and is rapidly becoming the town's favourite venue for business or pleasure, shopping, weddings and other special events. Under the direction of Managing Director Simon Cotton supported by Chantel, Chris, Dean, Catherine, Chloe, Dario and all The Yorkshire's first-rate team of friendly, hard-working professionals the hotel must be the envy of management at many other hotels in the town. The Yorkshire has recently undergone and is continuing a major makeover involving every aspect of the hotel and I very much look forward to my next visit. The management and all members of staff are very affable and responsive. During my frequent visits many have become good friends and i'm always sure of a warm welcome. There's a wide choice of very comfortable rooms receiving meticulous attention from the housekeeping team and a wonderful top floor restaurant and function room with unequalled views over the town centre and "Stray", a beautiful 200 acre park surrounded by magnificent trees. The top floor restaurant serves an excellent continental and full English buffet breakfast whilst the "Scran" restaurant and bar on the ground floor tempts guests and non-residents with a delicious selection of freshly prepared dishes created by Executive Chef Dean, complimented by a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails expertly prepared by Dario and the bar team. Overall The Yorkshire is good value and highly recommended! David Palmer
Staff were very approachable, both at reception and the bar area and dealt with all our requests in an excellent manner. Both the room and bathroom, we're cleaned to a very high standard. I would highly recommend this hotel when visiting Harrogate. Location of the hotel was very central to shops and restaurants.
Booked in for Saturday night and decided to stay Sunday too! Lovely Hotel room on the fourth floor with a great review, nice and clean. The second night we had to move room due to the room had already been booked for Sunday evening to a nice sized family room. The lady (sorry didn't get name) in charge of reception/house keeping on the Sunday had excellent customer service skills. she made sure we could book into our room straight away rather than waiting. She also informed me they do price match/better the price advertised on other sites and sorted this out for us. She was very professional and friendly, a credit to The Hotel. We had a few beers in the Bar and all staff very friendly too, asking about our stay and if we had any nice plans whilst in Harrogate. Just up the road from "The Blues Bar" which I highly recommend too! Would stay again, such a lovely building and great staff.
Had a large double room on the first floor at the back (109) overlooking restaurants. Was quiet, well equiped with a large modern bathroom and high ceilings. All newly refurbished - very grey! Lovely 'Yorkshire' tea bags and mugs for use in room! Handy for shopping/restaurants and great to be able to park at the front overnight. Just a minutes walk to 'Bettys'. Buffet breakfast content was a bit disappointing, as no use of locally sourced ingredients, or nothing cooked to order. Great views from breakfast room windows though. Could do with some wall artwork in corridors as all looked a bit bare. Had to buy some mugs for my Yorkshire family. On sale at reception for £6 each.
The hotel was lovely and our room (a junior suite) was very comfortable and clean. However, we were extremely disappointed with the view from our room. We decided to upgrade to a suite thinking it would be nice to have a seating area to relax in with a view of surrounding area. Our view was of a fire escape and chimneys. As a result we did not relax in the room as was our intention as had been ill. Would use hotel again but not upgrade as a complete waste of money.
We stayed here in a twin room booked a late deal through last min.com and what a nice surprise had booked for B AND B got checked in fine nice girl on check out and then our room was very spacious got a late check out well an extra hour, went for breakfast the next morning spoilt for choice, again the staff so good at making you feel welcome very impressed and def will return this is my 2nd visit and this time was better than the first thank you for a great stay
Had a fantastic stay at The Yorkshire, our suite was so comfortable with nice touches like the mugs and coffee machine. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Highly recommend both the hotel and Scran, the restaurant. Will definitely be back.
Really great hotel, staff really friendly, rooms were really comfortable and clean. Great value for money. Our only gripe when staying here was the noise, as in the evening a party of some sort was going on (despite it being a Monday haha) and as our room was located next to the alley where bins were being dumped, we were awoken abruptly in the morning. But, that's not the hotels fault entirely. Overall, would recommend this hotel and all it has to offer. Cheers :)
We returned to the hotel with the hopes it would be better than our last visit. (Noises and poor service) We were not disappointed. The room was fabulous large and quiet with great views. We also ate in the on site restaurant having the mini burger platter. It was fabulous and the service was great. The waitress could not have been more helpful. (Baring in mind my partner was due to give birth within a month it was lovely to be treated so well) The staff in the hotel were very welcoming and helpful especially with our bags and helping us to sort some late night cravings. Thank you so much. We will definitely be coming back when the little one is bigger.
Clean. Welcoming. Friendly. We booked a deluxe room with discount as it was last minute directly with hotel. Well worth it. the room was large pleasantly warm. The same for the bathroom. Very generous breakfast.
Great rates available as this hotel has been undergoing extensive renovations recently. The room was a small double, brand new room and bathroom which was very comfortble and suberbly furnished. Staff were great and the food in the bar / restaurant were also very good. If you want to stay in Harrogate then check out the deals on offer as the location is unrivalled.
A lovely hotel in a great location. All the staff are polite, friendly ,helpful and look happy to be working at the hotel. The room was decorated in a modern style with a lovely bathroom and had a nice front facing view. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. Parking in front of the hotel was £12 until 11 am the next day which in a previous stay was free. Instead of paying this we parked at the multi storey a few minutes walk away and paid £6 for 24 hrs.Would definitely recommend the Hotel and will be staying again in the future.
Stayed here on a Saturday night for my wife's birthday. Reception staff were friendly and professional. Room was a nice size and very comfortable. Breakfast was relaxed with a good choice of hot and cold food. The birthday card for my wife was a lovely touch! Would recommend staying here when visiting Harrogate.
Very nice stay at The Yorkshire. Comfortable and clean room. Fresh breakfast. I felt a little disappointed that I had to pay £12 for 1 nights parking when it looked to be a private car park, open also to the public but charged by the hotel. I booked the room with the highest rate which I thought was worthy enough for parking to be included. Overall it was a lovely place to stay!
We had already paid for 2 nights stay prior to our arrival. But on arrival decided we'd like to have breakfast in the hotel during our stay. We we're told we'd have to pay then and there, which we did. However on check out we were told we had not settled our bill, and I was asked for the receipt, which I could not find. So I rather annoyingly had to log in to my online banking to prove I'd paid to the receptionist and hotel manager. The hand towels on both beds had stains on them. When we went out the next day we put them in the shower cubicle hoping they'd be changed for fresh towels. Only when we got back to the room the towels had been rolled back up and put back on the beds along with the towels we'd used to shower that morning, which we'd hung up to dry but were still wet and rolled up. It's also shocking having to pay £12 per day to park your car, but if you go out for the day your space is not guaranteed when you return.
We stayed Saturday night for a night out in Harrogate, the room was a standard double and was quite large with plenty of room, it was nice and modern with a good tv and tea and coffee making facilites, the bathromm was a shower only no bath but was a good size and again modern it looked like it has reasonately been redone. The view was out across the stray and was very good. The breakfast was on the 5th floor and was buffet stlye, everything was tasty and fresh. We used the bar for drinks and it was quite expensive although you did get 10% off your first round. You also get 10% off the first round if you walk to the Fat Badger in the sister hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful and I would stay at this Hotel again if in Harrogate.
Paid for a junior suite for the weekend as a get away and the room was amazing! Its cheaper if you book direct with them and they give you a discount at their restaurant. First nights meal we went to the restaurant and tried the chefs selection of little bites to share and they were great, very tasty food! Great stay overall just not so great with the parking but they were accommodating and there are loads of places to park and it was cheap!
We came away to this hotel for my fiances birthday, weve stayed in many hotels but this hotel was the best one we gave stayed in, in the UK. The staff were friendly and polite and they couldnt do enough for you. The room was spacious and clean and breakfast was delicious! We cant recommend this hotel enough. Beautiful!
Stayed here quite a few times , has always been ok .Better now after the renovations, have always found the staff pleasant and friendly. One small criticism is that there is not enough storage places in the rooms we have had. The hotel is very handy for shopping., eating ect .Will certainly stay there again.
Perfect location in the middle of the city. My room was modern, clean and tidy. Beautiful view from my room. Train station is only a few minutes walk. Customer service is brilliant...friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to book again and for those reasons I would highly recommend to others. Harrogate is definitely a beautiful place.
Brilliant overnight stay at the Yorkshire Hotel to celebrate my friend's birthday. All the staff I encountered: reception, bar staff and housekeeping were helpful, friendly and efficient. My room was warm, clean and comfortable with fabulous views over the town and beyond. Tasty breakfast and I was able to have a later check out which was very handy. If I need to stay in Harrogate again this hotel will be my first choice. Picture is the view from my room on the 4th floor
Ideally situated although parking outside the hotel was an issue. Ended up on the street further down, thanks to the help of the very helpful reception staff. This actually ended up cheaper. Our room was on the 4th floor and was very nice, with a new bathroom. We had pre drinks in the bar, service was a little slow due to several bartenders making cocktails. We ate in the restaurant luckily we pre booked, the restaurant was extremely busy. The Yorkshire tapas was very tasty, our waiter was very knowledgeable and advised us well. We didn't really have room for dessert but after seeing some of the lovely creations we opted in. These were excellent Signature dish for me and apple crumble for my other half. Lastly must say what a good nights sleep we had, the most comfortable bed. If in Harrogate we would stay again.
Stayed here last weekend for my birthday. We arrived just after 3pm and got a parking space outside (charged at £12 per night!) We checked in quickly by 2 lovely members of staff and went to our room. The room was lovely and well decorated, with a good sized bed and bathroom with shower with the choice if two shower heads (standard and rainfall). Plenty of loo roll left and some toiletries. The bed had two pillows with two extra in the wardrobe. There was also a full sized ironing board, iron and hairdryer in the room. To start the room was a little chilly bit after turning on the heater soon warmed up nicely. The curtains were thick to block out all the light so even in the morning it was nice and dark. Theres two small lifts to get to higher floors as well as stairs. All corridors are well decorated, but still show the lovely features of an old hotel without looking run down. Breakfast was on the top floor and has amazing views over harrogate. Again staff were lovely and friendly. We could choose a hot drink and order fried or poached eggs, which was lovely. There was a good range of food for breakfast including mushrooms, black pudding and potatoes. I cant wait to come back again later in the year.
I lovely hotel in a very good location. The staff were very very helpful. We had a little issue with car keys been locked in the car so couldn't leave when planned to and they reserved rooms for us for the enforced extra night and were very supportive even offering to supply us with toothbrushes and toothpaste et cetera as everything was locked in the car. I would thoroughly recommend it if you're looking to stay in Harrogate
Stayed at the Yorkshire hotel for 1 night just after the new year. The staff were fantastic and they were always there to help. Breakfast had a wonderful selection of food along with eggs made to order. The room was splendid. Spacious. Comfortable. Lastly the location was excellent. It was right in the middle of town we couldn't have asked for anything more from the hotel.
The Manager treated us like long lost friends even though we have only been once before, great personal touch. The renovations have made a huge improvement to this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would we return.....definitely
This was a great hotel to stay in for a lads night out. Enjoyed it, enjoyed the bar and the food and the breakfast was the best cure for a hangover! Will be coming back again with the wife! Would especially recommend the downstairs restaurant with an electrical atmosphere and great music that saved us actually having to leave the hotel.
Lovely hotel in a great setting. We parked easily at the front (£12 and be convenient) and got a fabulous deal on the room. Lovely welcome from the young man on the front desk. Thank you - these things are noticed. Big room overlooking the park and convenient for shops etc. Highly recommended
We needed to be overnight in Harrowgate for an event the next day and choose The Yorkshie - an enormous, magnificent old building right in the middle of Harrogate. It could not be more convenient to a wonderful selection of shops and amenities. We had hotel parking on the doorstep for £12 per 24 hours The hotel is very old but has been modernised and we had a lovely modern spotless bathroom with an environmentally friendly offering of toiletries. Our room was clean with a large very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. All staff were extremely helpful and charming. Breakfast was really excellent and served on the 5th floor with fantastic views over the beautiful town and across to North Yorkshire. A really lovely characterful place to stay.
My wife and I stayed for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year. The De Luxe room was large and well appointed with a huge bed. The buffet breakfast very enjoyable and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The bar and restaurant downstairs were very smart. The downside was the parking, it was a bit of a fiasco. The hotel was happy to take £36 up front off us at check in for 3 nights parking, but didn't have a policy in the event of you losing your space which happened to us the day before we left. They reimbursed us for that day but really it was a a bit of a pain, not something to ruin a holiday, but let's say a bit of an irritation which they should sort out.
Lovely hotel staff very friendly and helpful, situated across from bettys if you fancied afternoon tea, great breakfast. It was a one night stay as a gift but I definitely would go back plus there is parking but it does cost £12 for overnight stay
This is a recently refurbished hotel which, along with its excellent location, must make it a contender for the NO1 spot in Harrogate. All of the staff are helpful and friendly and go to great lengths to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. Breakfast was great, especially the black pudding. The only reservation that I had concerned the room temperature which was a bit on the chilly side. Given the time of year coupled with large single glazed sash windows results in chilly rooms.....is secondary glazing possible? However the positive attitude of the staff is a boon. We would certainly recommend this hotel.
My husband and I stayed here in between Christmas and NYears. Hotel is excellent with lovely decor in rooms. Only slight let down is the pressure of the shower, it's more like a trickle than a decent shower. Location is amazing and we will definitely recommend and stay here again.
A great night at the Masquerade Ball at the Yorkshire hotel, food, music and atmosphere... brilliant. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a delicious breakfast too.
Birthday treat for husband. Hotel bit tired but is in excellent location. I expected hotel to be more plush. Scran bar nice & we had a nice large room. Cost an extra £24 parking for 2 nights stay. Comfortable but lacks wow.
Was a fabulous hotel for the great price we paid, very impressed with the style and cleanliness. Also the staff were down to earth and friendly , made us feel very welcome . Well done Yorkshire hotel, we would stay again and recommend you to friends
Lovely hotel in a great location. We had a deluxe double with triple aspect windows which gave views all over Harrogate. Staff were excellent and food was great. The hotel was extremely good value and will be my first port of call when I return to Harrogate.
Receptionist's were friendly helpful made check in very easy. Room was clean & lovely nicely decorated. Breakfast was fresh & plenty of choice with a good views over Harrogate. Definitely recommend this hotel
The Yorkshire used to be a bit old and tired but has had extensive refurbishment and has been vastly improved.Stayed over the Christmas break and it was excellent.Apart from the great location the main asset of the TH are the staff.Every so for person from check in to Bar area to Breakfast room and Restaurant are polite, friendly and do a fantastic job. Well done to all.
We checked in and were early but the reception had no issues with this. We parked up, paid to park and went to our room. Our room was lovely and nice views over the stray. The room was big, modern and comfortable. We did witness several people's cars getting damaged on our visit so was a little apprehensive about leaving our car. Breakfast was good, can't complain for what we paid. We would stay here again.
We stayed here for one night on our way to Scotland. The booking process was very easy, the room was a good size with a 6' bed, good quality bedding and cushions with Yorkshire sayings on them which was quite quirky. There was an easy chair, a desk chair against the dressing table, two bedside tables and a pouffe all of which were in good condition. The carpet was stained in a few places which looked a bit grubby but on the whole the room was clean. The instant coffee sachets were dreadful, the shower was little more than drizzle (we mentioned this at reception but were told its a feature of the hotel) and the parking charge was rather high (£12 for overnight and then a further £1.30 per hour after that). The Scran bar in the hotel was very well stocked and the bar staff were very helpful, friendly and knowledgable. The garnish they put into my G&T was very imaginative and smelled lovely. All in all, we may stay again as the position is very central and great for visiting Bettys and the nice shops but I might also have to make a hairdresser appointment to get my hair washed!
Friendly reception staff on arrival, our room was ready early so we were able to take our bags up. Room 101 fantastic, lovely spacious room, king size bed, lovely big window with very long ornate balcony overlooking the front of the hotel and beautiful views..... could see our first destination, Bettys tea room. We had a kettle and coffee machine, with coffee pods and a tea bag, sugar and milk. No biscuits, but to be honest I don't eat them anyway. En-suite had everything we needed, lovely big shower, and very clean and modern. The food later that evening in the Scran restaurant was served by very friendly happy staff and just what we needed. All in all a fantastic hotel, spot on location ,close to all the shops and cafes. Lovely fifth floor breakfast overlooking the town of Harrogate, roof top and countryside views. Excellent helpful & polite staff, couldn't do enough for you. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and couldn't understand some of the negative comments made on the website. Glad we made our own minds up and ignored them prior to our arrival. Thank you very much The Yorkshire Hotel, a wonderful experience. Kind regards and thanks Wendy & Horst Froehling. 18th-19th December 2019.
