As a whole the hotel was good for a stop over. Nice free breakfast. Microwave and fridge in room. Must be willing to climb 1 flight of stairs or walk from a single elevator in the front of hotel. Parking is plentiful in the back of the hotel. It connects to another lot. Near shopping and restaurants, need a car.

nice to find a pleasant hotel to call home while visiting sons and grandkids thank you so much the accomendations are just perfect and makes the visit even more rewarding centrally located with everything you could need around as far as shopping eating etc.

So if your TV works, this is probably a fine place to stay. But I wanted to watch the news and the remote did not work. I called the front desk, its been an hour now and I'm still waiting. In the meantime, I figured out how to manually turn it on and change stations, but NPR has no audio and there is not guide to stations. I called after 45 minutes to say that I was still waiting, and its been 15 minutes since that phone call. So, draw your own conclusions but be forwarned, if its not working, it may not get fixed during your stay.

My husband and I were traveling home from a mini vacation when our car broke down. The BW shuttle picked us up after waiting for a tow for three hours. The front desk heard our story and upgraded our room to a beautiful king suite AND gave us a discount! In addition we were granted a late check out while our truck was being repaired. Karen and Ryan along with the rest of the team turned a very stressful situation into a relaxing extended vacation.BW is super clean, amazingly friendly and the rooms are updated and lovely. Thank you BW!

Room rate could not be beat for the endless amenities at this hotel. The pool is huge and a perfect temp. The hot tub was bliss! The breakfast buffet was perfect with something for all of us. The bed and pillows provided a wonderful night's rest. It is located conveniently to a huge Meijer and every restaurant you could want. 1/4 mile to the expressway. The manager Ryan was especially generous with helping me with a bank issue. I will definitely stay again.

Love the evening dinner they set out for guest. Breakfast has a great selection to choose from. Transportation to the airport is very helpful. Staf is very friendly and know the area. Highly recommend!!

We were driving from western Michigan to Toronto, and did not get on the road until fairly late, so stopped for the night in Grand Rapids. I think we got one of the last rooms available at this Best Western, so it was definitely booked to capacity. I am admittedly a bit of a pillow snob, but I found the pillows to be rather uncomfortable, but to be fair, I didn't ask to see if there were alternative options. The vending machine in the lobby was not well cooled, as the chocolate bar my son purchased came out fully melted. Finally, there was no hot water in the morning, which made for an invigorating, if unwelcome start to the day. For this, the nightly rate of >$200 USD seemed a bit on the high side. We mentioned the hot water issue when checking out and were told that a manager would contact us... we never heard a thing. I guess we were fortunate to get a room at all on a rainy night where availability seemed to be at a premium, but I was not all that impressed.

"This Property Was Great!"

I was pleasantly surprised, since I stay at least 30+ nights a year at other properties and resorts. From the beginning when we worked with the sales manager Shante it was great. Everything she promised, she delivered on and the hotel staff (Mary, Nakia, Enrico and Sunshine) took us across the finish line. They were professional, helpful, accommodating and had a witty sense of humor to go with it. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my clients and other family members. The location was very convenient. The rooms/suites were clean and very well maintained. Don't let the outside of the property fool you. Not that the outside looked terrible, but I have to admit that it's dated. What mattered to me was what I found on the inside upon arrival. Very much modern from the decor in the lobby to the bedding and furniture in the rooms. Thank you team Best Western for making this a memorable family reunion. We couldn't have pulled it off without you.

My wife and I had been traveling all day from visiting family around the state and desired a quality lodging (with air conditioning as we are from AK and wanted a reprieve from the July heat) so we chose Best Western based on past good experiences. At checking in the customer in front of us was being inappropriately difficult and Sunshine maintained a pleasant professional demeanor. She then accommodated our every request and set us up with a great room. Thank You Sunshine!! I recommend this hotel to everyone as well as Brann's Steakhouse next door where the meals, drinks, and service were perfect...

"Disappointed-definitely not 2nd best value in GR"

After reading the reviews & seeing rating on T/A, felt like this facility would be a quality hotel at a fair price. Reserved a room online and requested an early check-in instead of 3 pm (if available) since we were traveling with our 4 yo grandson, who still naps after lunch. Arrived at facility at 11 am to see if they could accommodate us. Front desk said no, but to come back between 1 & 2 when they thought might work. Arrived just after 2 & was told still couldn't get a room cleaned for early check-in, but to wait in lobby. So we waited. And waited. Turned out, we actually didn't get a key until 3:25. Oddly enough, Best Western management was auditing the property while we were camped out in the lobby with a gurney full of luggage but never inquired. Then, between about 3:40 & 4:45, they allowed 2 different guests our room key, both attempting to enter while we were in room (with grandson "trying" to late nap). Also, being a renovated hotel, there were several early morning loud door slams, one completely waking the child. Beds were average quality. Room was pretty clean as was the pool area. Service was par for this price room. Breakfast was good, though seating during peak hours (6:45-7:30 am) was tight. Would consider staying again, but only with much better rate and no young children.

Thanks to all. I wasn't expecting to rave about this hotel, but it was all good. Honestly, I picked it because it wasn't super expensive. Front desk (Sunshine), nice room, well kept outside and inside, complimentary breakfast, and I couldn't believe they have complimentary dinner. Monday thru Thursday, perfect for families with kids.

We spent two nights at this hotel and it was one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. I loved the layout of the room with a living space and bedroom decided by the bathroom. Everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good also.

My family came in from several different states for my Mother's memorial and using your small conference room to make picture boards and discuss the memorial really made it convenient. The staff is very helpful and great rooms! Can't thank them enough.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and dinner are outstanding. The rooms are kept clean. Discounts are available at the restaurant next to people who stay at the hotel.They have a great pool and exercise room.

"Rick Mahorn Big Man Camp 2nd stay"

PERFECT in nearly every aspect for the annual Rick Mahorn Big Man Camp. Players and coaches enjoyed shuttle pick up from airport, shuttle travel to mall, nearby restaurants and gym just 5-7 minute walk. Hotel staff was GREAT - especially Mrs. Hardiman who handled all our arrangements, Randy at the front desk, and shuttle drivers Enrique, Gregg and Ali. Great hot buffet breakfast daily includes enough healthy items for those looking to eat healthy, and complimentary light dinner week nights (hot dogs, another dish like mac and cheese or tacos, and salad). Meijer's has a flagship supermarket right across the street and the rooms come with mini-fridge and microwave. Indoor pool and jacuzzi You cannot go wrong at this hotel!!

"Early Morning Construction Next to Room"

The staff here was really great. We did run into a problem when at 7am a crew started replacing the hallway door to the outside and all the doors in the pool area. We were woken up by power tools. I imagine this won't happen to other customers since the work is done but the staff told me they had no warning so couldn't place people in rooms further from the construction. This shows a big issue with the management and the corporation in not communicating in a way that thinks of their guests first. The management of the chain is not thinking about the quality experience of their customers. The employees did the right thing, said they would refund the room but since I booked through a third party (priceline or hotels.com) they could only give me points in their rewards program. The points never came until I called three times over two weeks. The people are nice but they need work on their communication, it seems, at all levels. Aside from that, on another morning of our stay the staff running the breakfast buffet helped me get breakfast right as they were closing. I had appointments all that morning and was starving. They were so kind and even turned the waffle machine back on so I could eat. 4 stars on our first stay. 1 star on our second stay.

We had a one night stay here before a 6:00 AM flight out of Michigan The king suite was nice and big and loved having 2 bathrooms for the early morning getting ready to go to airport Branns being right next door was also a bonus The ONE PROBLEM we had was the shuttle to the airport. Upon check in we told them we would need to take the shuttle at 4AM to the airport When we went to check out there was no shuttle driver available There were about 10 people in the lobby waiting for a shuttle The gal at the desk ended up having to call another hotel and get their shuttle to pick us up and take us to the airport-When they got to the hotel the shuttle was pretty full so not all of us could go on that trip to the airport The driver did return to Best Western to get the other people that needed to get to the airport but it would have been a BIG PLUS for the Best Western to have a driver there on time to take people to the airport Other than that it was a nice stay and will return hopefully with the shuttle situation being taken care of

My wife and I decided to stay here for our visit to Grand Rapids and this hotel was excellent. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. We got a reasonable rate here. Our room was big and spacious and clean. The property itself was very clean and well kept. The hotel is easily accessible from I-96 at Exit 43B. And there are a lot of stores and restaurants nearby for added convenience. We will definitely stay here again

I work at the Townsend hotel, which is regarded as the “best hotel in Michigan.” Boy were my friends and I in for a treat! Nykia, Karen, and Loretta were absolutely fantastic. This hotel was amazing ! The staff was super friendly and went out of their way to please you. A couple bumps when we first got there but it all worked out. The pool was awesome and huge ! Traveling from out of state to attend my daughters college graduation. I booked my reservations with the competition two months ago and when I arrived, I was turned away because they had overbooked the hotel. Because of Tulip events and graduations in and around the city, every hotel was booked or was extremely over priced. I checked the Best Western Hotel across the street and I was greeted by a young lady named Shante' that recognized my frustration. She said sir we can accommodate you and your party, just relax and we'll get you to your room so that everyone can get some rest. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable, and overall it was CLEAN. The location was convenient with a restaurant within walking distance as well as department stores within a mile of the facility. The high light of my experience was the excellent customer service from Shante' and the staff. I was skeptical by the hotel's appearance but was impressed with the renovations of the room and its cleanliness. I'm glad I was turned away from my previous choice because I wouldn't have found a better place than this one.

"Bugs in the bed and room not clean"

My daughter and I woke up at around 11 and felt something crawling on us. I turned on the light and there were bugs in our sheets. We were so tired that we took everything off and wiped down the sheets and went back to bed. Room also was not very clean.

Nice, Clean hotel w Large Swimming Pool & Jacuzzi plus fitness area. Complimentary Breakfast. Our rooms had Microwave/Refrigerator. We had 2 rooms w King beds by pool area for the weekend. The rooms were very clean & spacious. Beds were comfortable. Prices were very fair. We enjoyed our Stay!

My daughter's soccer team just visited this hotel this past weekend. Our room was clean, reasonably spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Our rate of $99 per night was reasonable. Blair was very welcoming at the front desk, tending to all our needs. Kudos to Mr. Kazior, the manager, for such a well run hotel and friendly staff.

Under construction and dirty. Would have changed hotels but everything in the area was sold out. $119 a night really means below average place. Should have known better. Rooms and beds seems clean enough and it was quiet.

"BEST Bestwestern EVER"

The Best Bestwestern I have had the privilege of residing in. I spent 3 days in this heavenly place. The driver shook my hand & loaded my bag with a warn smile. Karen checked me in with a smile while telling me all about the hotel. Randy fixed every problem I had with professional flavor. Sunshine helped me navigate my 1st bus ride into the city and back. Greg and Ali filled the ride to and from the the airport with plesent and powerful conversation. The entire hotel was under construction and even the works were helpful and kind. The breakfast was delicious, clean and organized. I'm moving into the city and my family will always use this hotel when they visit. They also give the guest a free gift Monday - Thursday night. Simply the Best.

this property is only good for a 1 night stay to fly in and out of...nothing more, nothing less! it is dirty and ill-cared for but Ali the shuttle driver is the best around!! they serve a nightly reception including food but all other amenities are below standard

We took our grandchildren to Grand Rapids for two days during their school break. We booked this hotel because it had a large pool and was close to Meijer Gardens. Our room was somewhat updated but still worn. There was a hole in the curtain, a cigarette burn on the tub, and the hair dryer was broken. The pool area was crammed with not very well supervised children and ran out of towels. The hot tub was crowded too. The room rate was very reasonable, but I think only folks who cannot afford a break anywhere else would like it. Bad choice on our part.

Proximity to the airport is great. Rooms are comfortable though there is no chair to sit in only the desk chair which has only one height - short. They do serve a breakfast each morning and I do offer a nice variety

"Great Value in Grand Rapids"

I took a Michigan real estate class that was being given at the hotel, so I decided to stay for 5 nights. The complimentary breakfast was great featuring hot eggs, meat, breads and cereals. The free dinner was acceptable changing every night. From hotdogs to tacos to cold cut sandwiches. Hot coffee in the lobby anytime. All at no charge. I have a few issues, one day the room was not cleaned, the refrigerator in my first room would not shut off and froze everything and I notice a few sugar ants the last day. The staff were all friendly, gracious and helpful. Never got a chance to try the pool, but it looked nice. I saw some negative reviews, but look at the entire picture. This isn't a five star hotel, but you are not paying for one! With the meals alone you can't beat the value this place offers. I have a continuing education class coming up in the area soon and this is where I will be staying.

i had booked my room months ahead of time. when we got there we were told there were no rooms available. this took over 30 min just to check in. than my card was charged when told we could pay cash instead

Hotel was older. Hallways had large particles/debris all over the floors, but we didn't see any construction or remodeling going on in our section. Beverage machines were almost out of stock. Had to wander around hotel trying to find a beverage machine that still had a bottle of water in stock. Ended up only finding one machine that was working-right next to lobby. Room was clean. Breakfast was edible. Staff friendly. Not a 5 star, but acceptable for our needs.

"Never Again"

My husband and I decided to try this motel instead of our usual one and stayed here the last weekend in December. We will not make the same mistake twice. Our “suite” lacked proper lighting making it difficult to read in bed and hard to use the microwave with none in the “kitchenette” area. The tv had very few channels especially with being in a large city. The heater did not work properly making the room temperature uncomfortable. The room was outdated and could use a thorough cleansing. To top it all off the local police were there for guest disturbances two out of the three nights we stayed. We will be going back to the Baymont right around the corner.

Room was good. I choose this hotel because of the great lower price and besides a free continental breakfast, it served a free dinner (Mon-Thurs). We do not eat pork or anything with pork in it. The menu consisted of Mac n Cheese with bacon and they also had hot dogs (again with pork). My suggestion would be to not put meat in the main entree and just have it at the side (or not at all). Other than that our stay was fine.

On a blistery cold snowy night, this hotel was perfect to stay and allowed our dog as well. It was just a 10.00 fee for bringing the dog. We will be back someday :) Other hotels close by wanted a 200.00 security deposit for bringing a dog and the weight for dogs was low like 45 pounds. We brought our golden retriever!

Dear Best Western, My name is Trinia Patrice and I'm a guest at your lovely Hotel. Being a 1st time visitor to Grand Rapids MI and the Best Western Hotels, I was elated to say the least. I have travel to most parts of a America and out of the country. As a result of this, I've been bless to meet some AMAZING and a few INTERESTING folks! Upon Arrival to Grand Rapids I wasn't sure how my trip would go. Worry free, I boarded my Flight and took my chances. I ordered my room online and had an opportunity to tour your hotel. Winning points...the indoor pool (and other amenities), shuttle service, kind and personal customer service. My first interaction was with Karen and Johntae (who's fashion sense is nothing short of Amaze-ball AKA AMAZING) both individual's manners where Polite/ and accommodating. Next, there was the hotel shuttle driver of the year.....Enrique. this has to be the most patient and decent man on this planet. Appreciative to him for delivering safely to and from my locations. Shonte H. Sharri (managers), Tisha (breakfast staff), Raymond (Night Customer service), Sunshine and Brittney (housekeeping). Bravo and Kudos to each of you. You're making my stay warm and cozy in this cold arctic Lol. I'm unused to this climate! I had an extremely early check-in at the airport and couldn't have been happier with the staff at this hotel. They were all so caring and competent. I didn't have time for breakfast, but did grab a cup of coffee and a Kind bar to munch on at the airport. Dinner was certainly an unexpected surprise and was very good. I highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay before a flight.

I highly recommend this hotel. It was a great value and had great perks. Free bottled water, breakfast buffet and a simple dinner buffet. Very clean room and extremely comfortable bed (on the firm side, but not too firm - I found it to be perfect for me!). The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. And - a fantastic value!

I would not stay at any other hotel since I have stayed at Bestwestern, always clean and comfortable. thankyou so much for all you do at bestwestern to make people feel comfortable and appreciated. My husband had to have foot surgery the next day after our stay with you and we were given a discount off our bill because of having a medical procedure at a local hospital, to me this was a Blessing

I had a great stay. Breakfast and dinner most nights. The rooms can vary from one to another but the staff is very accommodating if there are changes possible. The meals are good and provide a nice change from other hotels. The location was great with it being close to expressways, shopping, restaurants, etc.

The room was dirty, and the bathroom sink did not drain. There were bugs in the room, the television had only a few channels, and the remote did not work. The pillows were smelly! Even though this room was a very affordable price, we will never stay here again! (In all fairness, breakfast was fine.)

Super helpful, friendly staff. Clean comfortable room. Had to catch a flight before breakfast was available, so they gave me a breakfast bag to go! Also provide shuttle service to the airport, the driver was professional and courteous.

Stay was very relaxing. Issue with getting in the pool the second day. There could be better lighting over the area that housed the microwave and fridge but overall no complaints. Check in and out went very smooth.

"HORRIBLE-DO NOT STAY HERE"

This was the worst experience I have had with a hotel. After issues with checking in and doing the "park and fly" my husband and I leave for our vacation. The day of our return, my husband calls to set up the time for the shuttle to pick us up from the airport. The employee told us they would be there at midnight, all is set up. We arrive in GR at midnight, and there is no shuttle. My husband calls and the employee states, "oh yeah..our shuttle driver already left." He gives no alternative way for us to get back to the hotel and states, "guess you have to get a taxi or something." My husband asks to speak to the manager and he said he was the night manager. He states that the employee from earlier in the day didn't "pass along the info" that we were coming and needed the shuttle. WHAT?! That is what we already paid for your service to have!! He offered no solution and just told us too bad. We ended up begging for a ride from the Comfort Suites shuttle who nicely took us to the crap hotel, Best Western, that was across the street. What a horrible way to run a business. We will never stay there again.

Our shuttle does run daily from 4am to 12 am, on a as needed basis. Generally with our guests calling to get the shuttle when they arrive at the airport, because of flights being delayed so often. We do reimburse for cabs if our guests don't make it in time to get the shuttle. I apologize that our night shift did not inform you of this, that was definitely a error on our part. The check in was very easy and the clerk was very friendly. The room looked great, was clean, and everything worked well in it. The lobby and breakfast area were very nice and updated. There are a lot of restaurants and stores around, and it's close enough to the airport. However, the windows were old and needed replacing (could feel cold drafts); the doors "worked," but were in very poor shape; the exterior of the building looked dated and had other cosmetic issues; and the pool area was less than desirable (water was clean though).

Spent the weekend in GR and find this BW hotel to be a convenient location and close to nearly any areas of interest you may desire. Close to the airport and the interstate. Although the hotel was completely booked, we were able to find a place to sit and enjoy a good breakfast.

I got lost inside this hotel. Twice. I wandered around like a character in The Shining exploring the empty hallways of the Overlook Hotel, hoping I wouldn't run into Jack Nicholson with an ax or a man in a bear costume. I thought it kinda weird that there were laminated maps of the hotel on the counter at check-in. Once I received my room assignment the clerk kinda showed me where my room was on the map and off I went. And I walked...and backtracked...tried another hallway, nope, this isn't right... Okay, so this one's on me. I can navigate cross country without a map but I cannot reliably find my room in a Best Western. I must be getting old. This is a really nice hotel in a good part of town (I always check this before I book a hotel after my disastrous experience in Albuquerque). Good location, well lit, and clean. Lots of parking but you cannot circle the building so if you are pulling a trailer plan ahead. Nice place, good rate, and a really impressive room. The toilet isn't level in Room 148 so if that sort of thing bothers you heads up. Breakfast (on the second floor) was typical: some sort of pseudo egg-colored creation, big ole sausages, waffles, cereals, bakery items, etc. Weak coffee. Would I stay at Best Western Hospitality Hotel & Suites again? Yes. If I have to travel to the Grand Rapids area again I would stay at this hotel. I would ask for a copy of those maps, tho.

Was in the Grand Rapids area for surgery and stayed at this hotel. the bed was excellent, the room was extremely clean and staff was friendly. Would recommend staying here. Also lots of stores and restaurants in the immediate area.

Very comfortable and clean hotel. You can't do better, and a very reasonable price as well. The breakfast was great, and a large variety of items to choose from. The staff was friendly and helpful, and also the personnel who clean the rooms were very friendly which is something you don't normally see in most hotel/motels.

We were in town to visit relatives. The hotel was conveniently located for us and accepted pets which we really appreciate. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The facility is showing its age but we would likely stay here again as the rooms were clean. There was also a good selection of restaurants near the hotel.

Older hotel that is showing its age. I had "black chunks" in the bathroom sink water when first turned on - gross! There was an external hotel entry door just outside my room window where people stood at about 1:00 am while they talked and smoked. Smoke came in my room and the noise woke me up. Breakfast was typical free hotel food. Not bad, not good, just ok.

I was working out of town and needed a clean comfortable room and a place to eat nearby. The booking was through Booking.com and a room with a walk in shower was the same rate as a normal room. Since this was a room built for wheelchair accessible needs, it actually was much nicer, since the doorway was wider and all things were spaced for wheelchair width. Four years ago I had two total hip replacement surgeries done and now I'm suffering lower back issues. The higher height toilet, with grab bars worked wonderfully. Having the steak house next door was an added bonus, since I just walked there for a late dinner.

There were a couple days that the weather was bad and we had meetings in our rooms but the TV channels sucked . No USA, no TBS, no TRV Channel . The food was good at breakfast but there was never enough yogurt to go around !!

Love staying at Best Westerns as they are a great value, have awesome breakfasts, friendly service, and you can always count on the same quality hotel no matter what state you stay in. Weirdly I came across this one and the quality was not up to there usual excellence. Lucky I was only there one night. Now I have booked hotels by freeways before and had no problem. This one however was so loud it sounded like the window was open (it was not). The traffic noise was so unbearable I put ear buds in, but that didn't help I still could hear it. Also, other problems.. someone was smoking ( I think pot) in a no smoking hallway/rooms and the smell was making me nauseous. Also my toilet was running extremely loud as the seal was not sealing in the tank so water just kept going. It was so loud I just shut the water off while I was in the room. The place just looked run down. I will never rebook because of my sleepless night. I will say excellent service and breakfast as always though.

This was such a disappoint. Are room stunk plus we found three huge stink bugs crawling along the walls. Wouldn't recommend. Employees were very nice that was a plus. Just sad that we came all this way to not have a clean room.

"ArtPrize weekend"

Nice update....but still leaves a little to be desired. Met our needs. Good deal on the internet for last minute stay. Smoking noted in hotel that advertises 100% smokefree. Centipede found living in bathroom by tub. Staff could do a better job. Draperies not hung correctly. Our room had to different heights of mattresses. One too tall and one too hard. Tile work not completed in corners (behind doors). Ice machines not easily available. Otherwise, pretty clean and quiet for our short stay.

Tried a different hotel for a change, as I spend a lot of nights in the Grand Rapids area. Was very impressed. Very reasonable price and great room. Even was offered a lite dinner free of charge. It's also in an area where you can practically have any type restaurant or store. The young lady at check-in was very hospitable, the same goes for checkout. A very nice place to stay

Excellent location and very nice hotel. Rooms were clean and updated and quite large. Breakfast was good and a nice perk. Rooms rates were priced reasonably. I would definitely stay again. I ubered to Downtown area for Art Prize which is way better than staying downtown. Downtown was outrageously priced plus you have to pay for parking.

Curtain was a wrinkled mess requiring constant adjusting or you stepped out of the shower into puddles of water. We got fresh towels and a made bed, but the toilet rim was untouched.

Me and my friend stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It was for my birthday weekend anx we wanted to explore beer city! The people here are very nice an polite. The breakfast buffet and eating area was very good. The pool and hot tub were okay. Our problem was with the rooms. We booked a king suite and our 1st room had box elder bugs inside everywhere! I understand its that time of the year so no biggie we told them a nd they gave a us a different room. Well the room was right next door and was even worse. We were not trying to make a big deal about it and keep it quite not to frighten other guests. So the manager i am assuming said she found another room and personally looked for us and it was clean. Which yes the room was free of bugs but smelled TERRIBLE!!! We searched and searched for the smell and couldnt find anything dead but the room obviously was not vacuumed or swept. We are guessing either milk was spilled or someone vomited. The employees were nice so we didn't say anything but i will definitely never go back! Oh and the windows dont lock and have no screens so that was scary too.

The staff was great! The room was decent a size. The pool was huge and seemed well cared for! We had a few issues in our room (tv had static on most channels, desk chair was broken, bathroom door wouldn't close properly) but everything else was ok. Good shower pressure and room stayed cool! The free breakfast was better than most and very clean! Check in and out was a breeze!

Stayed here for our visit to Art Prize 9. This property was about $50 less than other available rooms. Room was a good size, comfortable beds, and has a nice sized refrigerator and microwave. Also microwave is pretty powerful...30 seconds made for a very hot cup of coffee. Only quibble was the bathroom which is on the small side and doesn't have much counter space...just a bit surrounding the sink and then a ledge behind the toilet. If you have your clothes and toiletries in there it is a bit tricky...had my bag w/makeup fall off the ledge and broke a compact. Place is a little beat up...toilets and hall carpet stood out most, but kept clean...saw people cleaning regularly. When we were booking there were some reviews complaining about breakfast. We thought it was fine...mostly carbs, good amount of choices though. Had two hot trays (eggs & sausage), oatmeal, waffle makers, juice, coffee, milk, cereal, yogurt, fruit cups, bagels, bread, pastries, and various spreads and condiments. Breakfast is on the second floor. The sign for the hotel was easy to miss because it isn't very tall and is blocked by trees. There was a little hassle with trying to turn left out of the property on to 28 due to busy traffic so just had to turn right and then double back. Large Meijer just across the road and quick access to the airport and downtown Grand Rapids.

In GR for a concert and decided to give this place a try. Glad we did. Check in was quick and friendly. Room was nice, clean and a comfy bed. Nice breakfast area with both hot and cold selections. Entire staff was friendly from check in to check out.

Our flight out was cancelled so we found ourselves stranded! Calling Best Western they provided a room for the three of us; shuttle to pick up and the next day kept our luggage, shuttled us to and from the Mall so we could "kill some time" then back to the airport. The staff, and especially Megan the General Manager was wonderful!

Booked room for early morning flight out of GRR. Arrived around 6:00pm. Requested a quiet area. We were placed exactly where we wanted. 215 no one around. Halls very dated and a tad shabby. Room very clean.... maybe too clean. Strong chlorine smell hit us when we walked in. Room felt damp despite AC being on. It was very warm and muggy outside. Closed bathroom door which seemed to help with smell. Fridge and microwave a welcome addition so we could put our breakfast in there. We needed to leave by 5:30am so wouldn't make free breakfast. Bed was large king. Very comfortable with lots of pillows. AC rather loud and clunky and humidity never really left but it was tolerable. TV reception was grainy on some of the stations but again tolerable. Overall the room was fine for the purpose and time there and a better price than most other hotels on 28th St. Would stay again if needed. For an extended stay I might look elsewhere.

From the welcoming greeting to the express checkout, the staff at this property demonstrates how aptly named it is: Hospitality Hotel ! On an extended motorcycle trip, we had not intended on staying in Grand Rapids but the unexpected need for a rear tire necessitated a 225 mile retracing of our route and a two night stay. We were able to take advantage of this hotel's last minute booking rate on the Best Western site and were happy to save a few bucks. When we arrived later in the afternoon, we were warmly greeted, my Best Western Rewards status was generously recognized , our room was upgraded and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that, in addition to the customary breakfast, this property also offered a modest evening meal....free! Can't beat that ! The convenient location of the property meant that after a quiet and restful night's sleep we were able to travel the short distance to Holland, MI and enjoy the attractions there. All-in-all, after what had started out as a nerve-wracking ordeal with the motorcycle became a pleasant experience due to the quality of the personnel and hospitable offerings of this Best Western. It truly is a "Hospitality Hotel".

Had a great stay at this Best Western in Grand Rapids. We were able to check in quickly and there was plenty of parking. The bed was really comfortable and we appreciated that the breakfast ran from 6 to 10am so we were able to grab a late breakfast. The breakfast had a lot of options and we were able to get a late checkout. Everything here made it a comfortable stay and easy to get some rest while traveling. Super convenient and near some restaurants and a 24 hour Walmart if you need anything late.

We loved our stay hear while visiting Grand Rapids. The day time staff were very helpful and accommodating. The Complementary breakfast presentation and offerings were by far the best we experienced during our trip. The rooms were clean and conveniently located near exits with the building. We also loved visiting Branns steakhouse which was conveniently located just next door. This hotel was also located near shopping and dining. I would definitely suggest staying here if you are visiting Grand Rapids.

My uncle got us a room at this hotel. It was a gift, paid for so that we wouldn't have to worry about it and could have a good time on our honeymoon. However, when we checked in the rude guy at the desk told us that they would have to charge us an extra $100 deposit on our credit card for the room. I asked, wasn't the room already paid for? He confirmed this, and I said, wasn't that done with a credit card? I know my uncle didn't come up from Denver and pay cash for it, or he would have just come to our wedding. He had no answers. We had no choice, we couldn't switch hotels, because they had already charged my uncle for this scam. So we were forced to let them charge an extra $100 to our card, our vacation money, to await the return of our stolen money when they get around to it. If I could have, I would have walked out the doors and found a less shady sounding hotel then so I wouldn't have that looming over our whole honeymoon. Nothing can make up for that stress on what was supposed to be the best weekend of our lives. Thanks so much.

Nothing fancy. Bed was comfortable. Tub faucet leaked and the bathroom vent looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The rest of the room was fine. The breakfast wasn't the greatest. We went towards the end of the hours. The food and silverware did not get restocked.

it was terrible , we asked for 1st floor because my husband has a hard time walking and stairs are really hard for him.We got 2nd floor and not even close to the elevator. Breakfast was a joke 20 mins after they started serving there was not much left and no coffee not good . We loved staying at this Hotel. The staff was very helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. The Pool with hot tub was a great way to relax after a long day. To top off our stay we had the best breakfast at any hotel we have stayed in. The atmosphere was awesome and the menu choices were second to none. The attendant in the breakfast lounge kept the food hot and coming not like some hotels that put things out and after a few guests its pretty much gone. If you are looking to relax and have a great place to recharge your batteries away from home this is the place to be. Not to be forgotten is the price for the hotel was actually quite a bit lower than many hotels in the area with much more to offer.

hotel overall was good for the price. but breakfast on the weekend we were there was very dissapointing. we got there a half hour before ending hours and the girl would not restock the eggs, meat, oatmeal and o.j.we could not believe it. she said it was almost closing time..if that gets improved i would give 4-5 stars. but only 2. the night reception was very good from 5-7pm. she stocked right up till 7pm rooms good, pool big. quiet hotel. housekeeping polite. just the breakfast lady was the downer.

Not the best, not the worst. Only stayed one night so did not get to use the pool, gym, etc. Breakfast was very satisfactory. Nice setup. Halls were clean. Noise was almost nonexistent even though we faced a very busy road. Quiet during the night.

We found this gem through Trip Advisor where there were some very good reviews and decided to give it a shot. We weren't disappointed, we were pleased. We had a full two room suite with 2 bathrooms at a price far less than every other room we stayed at during our week traveling through Michigan. The location was not ideal for what we were doing in the area but it worked out fine.

We made this last minute reservation here based on reviews from here and it proved to be well worth the few minutes we took reading reviews. Couldn't believe the price and had I not read the reviews I would have went right past it. Our room is a king suite and we have a sitting room. Two bathrooms, and a bedroom. Unbelievable for $75. It is clean newly redone on the inside. The outside isn't any link to the inside. The staff was super upon check in.

The room was very clean, the bed was fantastic, the pool area was phenomenal, the breakfast was great, and the staff was very nice and helpful. Stayed here in July, 2016 and it was acceptable, so I booked again for summer, 2017. Cleanliness of public areas as well as guest room needs attention. My tub walls were gross and shower didn't drain so always standing in dirty water. Problem with noisy kids in hallway starting at 730am until midnight.

we stayed on second floor. far hallway from elevator. noticed worn casino-like carpet with debris, so i expected an "oh-no" when i opened my room. it was a double, very clean , pleasant, fresh smelling room with great a/c that did not make noise. we were on the courtyard side, no road noise. the free breakfast was adequate, although the coffee sucked. the staff helped us with a small issue with smiles.

This property is dated and needs updating. The rooms were ok but one of the three rooms we had smelled terrible. We called the front desk and all they did was send someone up with air freshener spray. By the end of the three nights we figured out it was the sink that the smell was coming from. Housekeeping did a good job but the hallways and stairwells weren't cleaned daily. Some of the same candy wrappers were there the entire time of our stay. Breakfast was fine. Typical complimentary breakfast but they did a good job keeping things stocked even when they were busy. All hotels in Grand Rapids on this weekend were very expensive. I normally wouldn't spend $150/night for this type of property but didn't have a choice.

Excellent stay! The staff at BW Grand Rapids were very friendly. The rooms were great, very clean, and up to date. It's located RIGHT off of 94, and just minutes from the airport. Nearby are many dining options, coffee shops, and stores. They offer free WiFi and their complimentary breakfast is spot on. Best Western never disappoints anywhere in the country, especially here in beautiful Grand Rapids, MI.

We were just doing a quick overnight on our way to the U.P. Had a good experience. Room up to date, clean, and we'll maintained. Took a dip in the hot tub. Again, nice well maintained. Several groups with kids using the pool. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. The game changer was the breakfast. Probably the best, most comprehensive free breakfast ever. They had hot items such as cheese omletts, sausage, bacon, and oatmeal. There were two waffle makes. Plenty of toppings for oatmeal or waffles such as nuts, coconut, whipped cream, and sprinkles. There was a complete bread/pastry/cereal/ yogurt section. Many beverage choices. There was separate staff maintaining this area. Would definitely stay again.

Everyone was very nice and helpful at the front desk. I didn't have much contact with anyone other than that due to being at work most of the time. I was satisfied with the room and all amenities. The location of the hotel was very good. Very close to restaurants, shopping, book stores, not to far from downtown Grand Rapids. They let me know that the restaurant next to the, Brams, gave a 15% discount if I showed them my room key.

The Good : The façade of the hotel is nice, the entry is clean and modern. The foyer / lobby was inviting and clean. When we arrived there were a few travelers ahead of us, but we didn't have to wait very long to check in. The check in was seamless and quick, and we were soon on our way to our room. The hotel hallways and common areas were clean and well maintained. It appeared to have some modern upgrades and looked very appealing. I enjoyed the continental breakfast area, and the breakfast was yum! The pool area was inviting, and we enjoyed the hot tub a couple of times. We were on the upper floor and in room 232. The ceilings were amazing. I think the very tall ceilings gave the room a regal feel, and the beams across were a nice accent feature. The bathroom looked like it had some modern upgrades as well. The room felt very big and roomy. The Bad : The room. Oh my goodness. The room had a very unpleasant smell. At times overwhelmingly so. It was almost like a sour perfumy smell. Upon investigation I found several (and by several I mean over 12) fragrance sticks shoved into the air conditioner. The fragrance sticks were part of the smell, but there was still a sour underlying smell. I removed the fragrance sticks, then my daughter and I headed across the street to the local Meijer to buy some fragrance room spray as well as a room deodorizer. We also bought sanitizing wipes as I was uncertain about the cleanliness of the room. When we returned we proceeded to wipe down every surface with the wipes as well as sprayed the room down and put out the room deodorizer. We left for dinner and when we returned the smell was less, but still obviously present. There were a few stains on the carpeting, almost like burn marks, but other than that it appeared to be clean, unless you looked under the bed, where there were food particles (old candy, M&Ms), crumbs, and even a dirty sock (I'm guessing from the previous occupants?). The tile entry way was super nice. The bathroom also had a very bad (but different from the room) odor. ESPECIALLY if you left the toilet seat open. The flange around the shower head had fallen off the wall and was dangling around the shower head. The sink was super slow to drain and appeared clogged. There was some broken and cracked caulking around the tub / shower. The window. There was an obvious gap in the window and even when the window was closed I was able to stick a few fingers through a hole in the bottom of the window from the inside to the outside. That was pretty disturbing. You may really want to check that out. We stuffed some paper into the hole and I was ok with that during our stay, but yeah. It probably should not have a gap. The beds were not very comfortable, a little too firm for my taste. But the pillows were nice and we were able to get a good night's rest, except for when there were kids running up and down the hall at 12AM. <--- I know the hotel cannot really be held accountable for the rude actions of others, but it was disturbing. The pool was nice. Again, the few times we visited, there were loud unattended teenagers, but that can't really be blamed on the hotel. More blame should be placed on the irresponsible parents not monitoring the children. We mainly used only the hot tub and although it was nice, the water did seem dirty and there was a definite “ring” around the tub. It did gross me out a bit. Overall : We did enjoy our stay. We were in town for the Color Run downtown and the hotel met our objectives. I was able to obtain a deeply discounted rate (Last minute deal) by monitoring the site daily. Had I paid full price or more than the last minute deal I would have been severely disappointed. For the rate we paid I was satisfied with the conditions. The location is prime. We also attended the Color Run last year (2016) and stayed at a different hotel just down the street. We were also disappointed in the rooms / conditions offered there and this year booked at your hotel. Next year, I am doubting we would book again at the Best Western due to the above concerns.

Other than google sending me the wrong way off the interstate this was a very good hotel for the price. They offer a military discount that is very good. Nice clean rooms and all around pleasurable experience. Google was at the hotel when I arrived and I hope they were fixing the problem. Breakfast was satisfactory but doesn't start till 7am and unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to try it the first day and the attendant was adamant about not letting me get anything before that time. All in all a good hotel.

I had a check in nightmare. I was not going to post this, but I filled out the hotel survey and they sent me a stock reply. So, if they don't care enough to answer, I am going public. I arrived maybe 7-7:30. There was only ONE staff person working. Waited while three people checked in. Zoe. Pleasant, cheerful, probably wont last long. She gave me the room I reserved. Got to it. It was very hot. AC was blowing hot air. So I rolled myself all the way back to check in. Waited while four other people checked in. Zoe gave me another room. Rolled there. Opened the room and noticed it was funky. Too tired to complain. Then I saw clothes and someone in the bathroom. Oops. Rolled back to Zoe. Waited while she helped more people. So many people for one person to handle. Third room. Walked in. It was being worked on. Bathroom Door missing, hardware strewn about. But there was cold air, and no roommate. I stayed. Something piss poor about that room software. Checkout next morning. The desk clerk was upstairs gabbing with the breakfast person. I called up and said that my room had issues. She laughed. Did not offer to come down and give me a bill. I left. Frankly they should have given me a BIG discount. Or at least sent a real apology when I filled out the survey. Not staying there again. Too much exercise rolling my suitcase around.

We stayed in town to visit the zoo again this year on our way farther North. We typically stay over by the airport, but decided to try something new this year. To say we were disapointed was an understatement. $155 with tax for a room that wasn't cleaned was grossly overpriced. There was an open half bottle of wine in the fridge, dirty coffee cup in the trash and no clean linens for the pull out bed. I was able to share all this with the front desk checking out and again with BW in their post stay survey , really hoping they improve that part of their operation. On the plus side: great pool hours for travelers, breakfast buffet was good and the location is very good for dining out or shopping. External part of building was VERY well maintained, great flowers all over. This just made the problems with the room all that more confusing, you would think one area that well maintained would indicate a well run, clean property. Bottom line- won't be staying there again. I would recommend anyone traveling through to look at the Holiday Inn or Wyndham over by the airport. $20 more expensive, but miles ahead for a better experience.

The room was clean and spacious, although a bit dated. The mattress was comfortable, but had food debris and stains under the mattress pad. The air conditioner was immediately adjacent to the bed and blew directly on the bed. There were outside balconies with no way to access them since there were no doors. They were covered in bird droppings. The outside door would not open with the room key, and we had to move to a farther door in order to get inside from the parking lot. The suite had two bathrooms, a refrigerator, and microwave. There was plenty of space. The breakfast had a good selection of hot food including waffles, french toast, scrambled eggs, and sausage. They also had assorted cereal and oatmeal choices, as well as bagels and fruit. The eating area was small, but the staff kept the tables clean and the food stocked. All and all a good value. We also often stay at the Hampton Inn, and this had similar amenities for a less expensive price.

This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in on this trip. The hotel is clean and modern and quiet. The beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was a good variety of hot and cold items, including strawberry waffles. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I was even offered laundry soap at no charge when I inquired where the location of the guest laundry was located. Not many hotels do that. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area for business or leisure.

Stayed here with my family of four (sons aged 3 and 1). Very nice place and will definitely be staying here again over the next few years as I now have a daughter attending GVSU. The lady at the front desk was very nice when we arrived and recommended upgrading my room from a two queen to a king suite (for a charge of course) when she saw my family to offer more room. Very happy for the suggestion and glad we took her advice. I apologize that I forgot her name, but we were there on June 25th so the company can give the nice lady a pat on the back even though I forgot her name. We used the pool and were glad it was open to kids until 10pm. Breakfast was stellar and the banana maple nut waffle mix is definitely the reason for the fifth star... OUTSTANDING!!! See you again in the months to come...

We stayed at the Grand Rapids Best Western for one night on our way to northern Michigan. This is a large hotel located in a busy area by the interstate. There is nothing particularly noteworthy about it, but it is an adequate place to stay. The hotel is quite large, and it can take a long time to get from front desk to your room. If you have limited mobility, this might not be the best choice. There is a courtyard with chairs and tables and a basketball court. We didn't swim, but the indoor pool also looked large. Breakfast was fine. We were the only ones eating, so it was blessedly quiet. The rooms have been redone fairly recently, while the public areas are a little dated. This is not a memorable or exciting place to stay, but it is perfectly fine for a quick business trip or for anyone passing through the area. The service was pleasant, and everything was acceptable.

This hotel is older but has been updated and is very well maintained. The hotel staff was friendly and went out of their way to help us. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The person who was working the complimentary breakfast did an outstanding job keeping the food stocked and tables cleaned (it was very busy the morning stayed there). We will stay here again the next time we are in town.

satisfactory stay. desk personnel at check in extremely helpful. rooms though were just ok. not great. next time in GR, we will check other places, but would stay here in a pinch. continental breakfast was better than average.

The staff was helpful, friendly, and courteous. The manager was exceptionally helpful. The room was clean and ready for us when we got there. The pool and hot tub areas were clean. I would recommend staying at this Best Western when visiting the Grand Rapids area.

WE had a group here for a sports camp while using the facilities of the nearby fieldhouse. Our four-night stay (5 rooms for the group) was great. Meagan in the saled department was great to deal with in advance of the stay and Nader the general manager was eager to help make our stay comfortable, including a late checkout on the final day so that the guys could come back from the camp and shower before heading to the airport. The evening dinner which was served was great and Zoe at the front desk was really great about keeping it going a few extra minutes to accommodate our schedule. The rooms were really comfortable, the location was great (10 minute walk to the field house, Meijer supermarket across the street and Walmart Supercenter a short walk away).

Clean , quiet motel In a good location. Minor issues with air unit in room. Comfortable room and good value. The hotel was quiet and the beds were comfortable. Could be a bit more generous with the complimentary shampoos etc. Overall a good hotel for the price.

The hotel room smelled like something died in there. We told the front desk and all they had to say was sorry! They said they would give us a % off the rate...but didn't end up doing it because he didn't know how.

Do not stay at this hotel, their customer service is terrible. Tried to check in early (1pm) Kid at the front desk would not even look to see if they had a room available for early check in, just saying we could not get a room until 3pm. When I asked for a manger he said she was out. When we came back we asked to speak to the manager again but again the manager was out.

Hotel was great, clean, and professional staff. The outside don't look so neat but inside everything is up to date and clean. Beds are comfortable, big screen t.v, and nice view of their outside patio with furniture. Pool and hot tub was clean. Only thing I did not like is they hold a 100.00 dollar deposit. If you chose to put it on a credit card it could take weeks to get it back, but if you use cash they will refund after checkout. The breakfast was great! A lot of options for you.

I am a travel agent and I will not recommend anyone one to this hotel nor will I come back to this hotel. My room was not cleaned the whole weekend I was there. The cleaning staff was watching tv in the lobby and I room was nasty. I was not requesting a refund for the whole weekend just for that day. I will pass the word not to come to this hotel. Bad service

Dirty rooms. Non helpful staff. Terrible breakfast. Outdated rooms with terrible mattresses. Treated Bad by the staff at checkin and during our stay. Group was not put together after several attempts weeks and days before arrival.

I have been using this hotel before it was a Best Western, I have seen this hotel upgrade it's facility both in the rooms, halls and grounds. They do provide quest with little extras like cookies, pizza, hot dogs in the early evenings. Breakfast is always on time and fresh

Very nice - clean room. Stayed for 5 days and it was a good place. Great to have refrigerator and microwave in room. Breakfast pretty good - didn't have dinner. The room was clean - did not have issues with any smoke, like in some of the other reviews. Great location, right off the freeway!

After a long day of work (traveling) you expect to be able to relax and watch tv and be able to access the internet. They only have 10 crappy channels and the internet cuts out every 5 minutes. Then I couldn't even get back on the internet at all.

We spent a night in Grand Rapids recently and checked in at Best Western. Perhaps because it was a weekday stay the room price was reasonable. We enjoyed our stay and the free breakfast the next morning. Over all it was a good experience.

"Okay but not Great"

Heat source blew right in to my face of the room that we ended up in after having to be given a different room than the stale smoked in first room. Staff was pleasant and efficient in accommodating the change. It was frustrating considering the very late time that we arrived after driving all evening and in to the late night. Room was sufficient for just sleeping but shower was not completely clean. Bathroom was small. Overall it was fine to sleep for the few hours that we did but the cost was high considering the small bathroom, older building, etc.

We stayed in a King Size Suite, plenty of room for my family of four. We even had 2 bathrooms. I was impressed that we also received complimentary breakfast (everyday) and dinner (Mon - Thur). Nice pool and hot tub. Overall very clean hotel, we would go back if in the area again.

I was initially housed in a room near the entrance, which smelled of smoke that had been masked by Febreze. It was sickening and loud, so she moved me to a cleaner room off a rear hallway behind the pool. It was great other than the fight between a man and woman in the hallway at 5 am. That was addressed by the night clerk who shewed them back into their room, after I was wide awake.

This one of several hotels that we stay in on the 15 day trip. It was great to call into the call center and tell the operator where we were and then they would find us a hotel at one the next exits. We would not have to wait once we were at the hotel because we were already check in. All the Best Western hotels have been clean and beds are great to stay in.All the employee's are nice to deal with at all times.

So the breakfast isn't all that bad. I've seen better from other hotels though. The largest problem I found was the lack of juice. The machine witch they use to pour juice has four slots, these containing water, cranberry juice, and two orange juices. I wish they had added another juice to it, such as apple juice. Besides that I found that the hotel has a lovely staff, and comfortable rooms.

"Convenient for a short stay"

We were only in town one night and couldn't take advantage of all the amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful, the location was convenient to airport and freeways. The price was reasonable. We didn't have any issues with our room. The property itself seemed to be undergoing some maintenance. The heat upstairs in the breakfast area seemed to have a mechanical problem because multiple guests were complaining and I'm sure the staff would have adjusted it if it was possible. It appeared that other repairs were in progress on the property and when it began raining heavily there were multiple leaks in the lobby and hallways.

The overall was ok, the rooms were ok, but towel bars were falling off the wall, lights were burnt out, and the showers plugged up and wouldn't drain well. There was a very odd smell of sewer in the entire building all the time too, it was terrible!

"Great Place to Spend a Couple of Nights"

We stayed 2 nights at this Hotel in Grand Rapids. The staff was very friendly and the king room was spacious and very clean. The hotel is quite large in size. The room had a full sized bar refrigerator and microwave. We had asked to be on the first floor near a door as we are older and have difficulty with moving our suitcases. Unfortunately, our room was a little hike from the elevator on the second floor but still convenient with the use of a luggage cart. The breakfast was typical hotel food but it was fresh, hot and delicious. We would stay here again if we return to Grand Rapids. Also, it is about 6 miles from the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum and was very convenient for us to visit there.

The staff was wonderful. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. I loved having 2 bathrooms in the room. I wish there was a little better selection for breakfast but overall it was good. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and a Meijer right across the street from the hotel. It's also conveniently located right off the high way. This will be our go to hotel whenever we visit Grand Rapids.

After being at the Ford airport more than 9 hours trying to get to Newark I was exhausted and hungry. The ladies at the hotel gave me at up grade on my room and made sure I had food. They got me a shuttle to the mall so I could replace my computer charger that had lost it plug in during the long time at the airport. They went out of their way to make sure I had an excellent evening and a good night sleep. Thanks to all of you.

Convenient location, very clean room and nice, friendly front desk staff. A basic and reasonably priced hotel approximately 10 minutes drive from the downtown hub. An added bonus was the fact the room had a balcony and a door/window that opened. There is a small swimming pool which we did not use, but others were using. The advertised gym/workout room is very basic and could do with an update. All in all a reasonable stay in a clean facility. Would return.

"Will not stay here again"

It was loud. The sleep was not good. The bed had 5 pillows on it but all of the pillows were too big so not comfortable for me to sleep. If you are going to have 5 pillows why not make a couple different thickness? The AC unit next to the bed was just too loud. The shower curtain was not long enough to stay put during a shower. There was water all over the floor - happily there were plenty of towels to sop up the mess. Worst of all, the exterior door to the rear of the hotel was not locked. It was supposed to be opened by keycard but the mechanism was inoperable and the door was just not locked. This was a security risk.

Great hotel for the price. Very nice employees, clean room and a helpful hot breakfast so you can hit the road quick without making an additional stop for food. Have dinner at the Steak House next door for sure! It's in the same parking lot. My son and I had big steaks with all the trimmings for under 30 bucks with the hotel coupon. Pool is excellent too.

Rooms very clean, staff pleasant and gave us a lot of good information on getting around town. Love that the busses were available to take us to downtown area for Art Prize. Great access to lots of shopping, restaurants. Would definitely recommend this motel to others.

We reserved this hotel thru the mystery section on Expedia. The value was fantastic and we ended up with a Jacuzzi room with a king-size bed! What a surprise! Loved the room, the service and the location of the hotel. We were traveling a bit throughout the weekend and being so close to the expressway was great.

This hotel is clean and the staff is courteous and obliging. We often stay here because the location is convenient and they allow pets. The breakfast is satisfactory. Great value for the price. Enjoyed staying here with a convenient location. Not there fault, but GPS places you on the wrong side of 4 lane road. Nice breakfast room with usual type food. Coffee was especially good and easy to get more in lobby anytime One OFI is to keep hallway carpet vacuumed

Many positive things to say about this place. King suite very reasonably priced, very spacious, with two full bathrooms and two large flat screen TVs. Very clean. Great helpful people at check in, even though I had messed up the reservation. Good location right off the freeway with shopping and dining options close by. My negative comments would be that is was kind of noisy and the room had a lot of light from outside, even in the middle of the night. Only sheer curtains so no way to block out the light. Also, and I am sure this would vary depending on the guests, but a lot of noise and conversation sounds from adjoining rooms, in our case, until 3:30 in the morning. I think rooms toward the back of the hotel might be quieter and darker but, since it was my mistake on the reservation, I wasn't about to argue with our room location. Older hotel but nicely renovated.

Hotel was clean. Bed comfortable. Good location. Amenities acceptable. Nice pool. Exercise room too hot with minimal equipment. Breakfast food quality very poor, ate somewhere else. A little expensive for this level of quality

"TERRIBLE Experience"

So I have stayed at this hotel several times and usually, I am completely satisfied even if their is a problem, they are usually good about making it "right and satisfying" to me. However this experience was a nightmare!!! As I called to book my room at the "student" rate that I have so much enjoyed, I have come to find out that they "no longer have this rate for the rooms they have available" I guess they had changed this policy a week or 2 before I called. Ok No problem, I had a $50 BW credit that I hadn't used yet, so I decided I would use it tonight so my room would still be pretty inexpensive. I go to the counter and am working with no other than the Assistant Manager (Rose?) forgot her name, and showed her my $50 BW credit. However, she felt that it made sense or was in the best interest of the customer (ME) to charge me the full amount of the room, THEN add the credit. I thought this was completely unnecessary to essentially take out $50 more dollars from my checking account, lowering my available credit, to just put it in days later when I needed that money for the weekend. Hence, using the BW credit for a better room rate. I was completely unhappy, angry, and irritated that this transaction was done in this manner. I could have used that extra $50 for my weekend that I had with the wife as we don't get to get away too often with trying to pay for a sitter for 5 kids over night. She also wasn't too sympatric in my opinion and just brushed it off like "Oh well." What an TERRIBLE EXPEREINCE. I am seriously debating whether or not to keep staying at the BW brand or any brand that is affiliated with the BW brand just based on this experience, not a bad experience but a TERRIBLE experience. Everything else was GREAT! We do enjoy the hotel very much, but the people are a major factor deciding if people will continue to stay or go else where. Still just thinking about it, I am mostly sad that we were down money that would have been spent on my wife.

"Nice for the money"

Breakfast was better than average, staff friendly, convenient location, hotel grounds were attractive. The restaurants nearby gave a discount when presented with key card. Pool and fitness center were well maintained and nice. Staff at the front desk were knowledgeable and helpful. I was a bit put off by the fact that the exterior doors did not lock by themselves, but suspect that the guests who were cigarette smokers may have had a hand in that defect. Overall good experience and I would stay here again.

Decided to come here instead of staying at the Hotel the convention is held at due to the fact that a breakfast bar is included in my stay and there are microwaves and refrigerators in each room. Breakfast is really good here, there is fresh fruit, Scrambled eggs or Omelets (alternating days?), waffle maker, white and wheat bread, bagels, yogurt, juice, cereal, soy milk, oatmeal and a few more things. The room was nicer that the Crowne Plaza one I stayed in when I attended the convention last year. I will come here next year for sure.

stayed here for a few days attending a seminar and thought I took a time machine back to the 80's. The hotel is tired, needs lots of help inside and out. The odor in the conference room was terrible, not sure what that was all about.

I would've given a perfect score, but my charger for my phone was never found. I still believe it was left in the room, but housekeeping claimed they never saw it. Called a rep at the airport the day after I reported that it is missing at the hotel. Loved the shopping across the street. One bar I would not recommend is Gipper's.

"Best Stay at an excellent price"

Best stay with surprises - Good Surprises. We were tired after a day of bike riding. Got to the hotel and they had a free dinner in the lobby - simple but good. And a free breakfast. Offered us to join their rewards program. We must have looked really tired as they also offered us a free upgrade. Staff were bery busy but you did not feel like you were being rushed AT All. We will look for Best Western as a first choice in upcoming trips. Price was unbeatable.

"Good Quality with Amenities"

The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. One of the biggest perks of this locations was the ease of access to a lot of activities. The highway exit is nearby to get to the city easily. In addition, this hotel has a basketball court, pool, fitness area, nice breakfast buffet, and they offer discounts at local restaurants. The restaurant next to the hotel was delicious and had good quality service as well.

"BED BUGS!!!"

When I phoned the front desk Sunday morning, 8/28/16, to report that I awoke to find two bed bugs in my bed in room 240, one of which was apparently killed during the night and the other which I consciously killed upon awakening, the desk clerk responded, “We take this very seriously.” She asked me what the bugs looked like. I told her they were small and dark and left bright red blood streaks on the bed sheets. The clerk asked me to come down to the front desk to discuss the matter. When my husband and I did so, the clerk offered no information as to what our next best steps should be to prevent our inadvertently carrying bedbugs out of the room or into our home. We asked her for some written information we could take with us. She said the hotel provided none. We asked her for a plastic bag to wrap our night clothes in. At first she said she didn't think it would help, but then she agreed to give us one. Later we returned to the front desk to ask for two larger plastic bags in which to seal our luggage before leaving the hotel room. The clerk said our room would be sealed off and inspected by the day manager when she arrived later that day. If she found presence of bed bugs, she would call Orkin to provide a heat treatment. If that treatment failed, she would have Orkin spray an insecticide. I asked for the general manager's business card so I could contact her the next day to follow up. When I spoke with the general manager on Monday, she said she would not have any answers for me regarding the room's infestation until the following day when an Orkin representative would inspect the room and make a report. On Tuesday, the general manager phoned me and informed me that Orkin had conducted an inspection and found no evidence of bedbugs in the room. I calmly told her several times that I found that very hard to believe as there was physical evidence which I had left clearly exposed on the bed sheets. She repeated that all she could tell me was what the Orkin inspector reported. With one final expression of disbelief, I told the general manager that I, at least, appreciated the phone call. After a few minutes' reflection, I again called the general manager who now spoke more tersely and less cordially. I asked her if I could see the Orkin report. She said that wouldn't be possible. I asked if I could speak with the inspector. She said she could try to reach the Orkin representative at the Jenison office and ask him to give me a call. I told her I would prefer to call him myself. She gave me a phone number which, when I repeatedly dialed it, rang without any response or even a prompt for voicemail. I looked up the phone number myself for the Jenison office but my call was routed to the state of Georgia instead where an Orkin supervisor told me it would not be possible for me to speak with the inspector or to see a copy of the report as I am not Orkin's client at the hotel location. The supervisor recommended that I deal with hotel management. When I told I had already tried that, she said there was nothing more she could do for me. I do not believe that Best Western takes very seriously its responsibility to help minimize the spread of bed bugs from its hotels to other locations--including other hotels, public spaces and guests' homes. I have waited two weeks to post my review. I wanted to see if I would view the problem differently over time, whether the hotel management would take steps to respond more helpfully and whether I would find evidence of bed bugs in my home. To date, none of the above has occurred (and I feel extremely fortunate regarding the third unknown).

I was really impressed by the hospitality of the employees of the Hotel. Really made me feel at home right away. The Room was clean and organized. Beside the damaged wall in the shower everything was up to date. Prefer to have the fitness room open earlier too. for the rest was really satisfied. Recommend this Hotel to everyone.

"COCKROACHES and BAD NASTY ODOR"

After checking in at front desk we proceeded to find our room. There was the most God awful stench in the hallway walking to our room. Went in our room and minutes later we started to smell the stench in our room. I immediately went to the front desk to change rooms and there was another customer also complaining for the bad smell. We changed rooms and the second room did not have as bad of odor but my daughter noticed that the floor tiles in front of the kitchenette was very slippery and wet. At the time we didn't think much of it. We left our room and went to her soccer game and then dinner. When we returned to our room at about 10:45pm where were dead cockroaches in the bathroom, closet and throughout the room on the carpet. There was no way I was staying in that hotel, I didn't care what time it was. I called another hotel nearby and then packed up our car and went to the front desk. The clerk was very apologetic but really didn't seem very surprised when I told her that where were dead cockroaches. She cancelled my reservation and I was not charged anything but what an ordeal from the start! I will never return to that BW! Also, there were some very sketchy looking people staying that the hotel! So getting back to the wet slippery floors in our room, I came to realize that it must of been buy spray that the hotel sprayed in that room prior to us moving into that room.

Room was clean and furnishings appeared quite new. Everything worked well. Staff friendly and helpful. Would have appreciated two very comfortable leisure chairs rather than the business desk type chairs. Grounds were very well take n care of. Good appearance from the outside.

Wonderful gal at check in - Becca was friendly, welcoming and quick. A surprise snack was served in the evening - enough for a small dinner. Pool looked lovely, but we did not use it. The courtyard behind the hotel has a lovely yard with great potential. Was once a nice hotel. Door to back hallway was propped open with rocks. Bathtub was filthy with several hairs and such grime I would not take a shower in it. Then all down hill. Room had black mold on ac vents - - large amounts. Ice bucket was dirty with brownish water in it. Faucet had zero cold water. Internet dropped every few minutes. Was offered another room - - it had even more mold on the ac unit. Gross! Kept same room. On the side of the bed facing upward was a 3 inch screw - - going into nothing but my foot as I got off of the bed.!! It is just there - - for no purpose - - and they did nothing about it! Yes our room was comped for the night - - but our health has suffered and they do/did nothing to fix the issues or to make up for them. Major health problems here - - at least in this wing of the hotel.

As the review title indicates, staff is always cleaning. Carpeted stairways, halls, lobby floor, etc. - someone always has a mop, broom or vacuum going. When I was checking out, a maintenance person had several in-room fridges outside and was washing them out with soap and a garden hose. Outdoor plantings are attractive with no weeds! Entrance drive has several large, flowering hanging plants in better shape than what I have at home.

Tons of bugs in the room, clogged shower drain, hallway carpet smelled bad and a mediocre breakfast. Stayed with my family there and had some sad events that almost ruined our family vacation. I would consider other hotels in the future.

TV not working at night and toilet in the morning. This prevented me from having a good quick in and out business hotel experience. Sad because this place has a great indoor pool and jacuzzi and a nice fitness area.

We spent Saturday night here, August 27th, and it was a busy weekend in town. The hotel was very clean and all staff we encountered were very nice and helpful. I think this hotel is in the process of renovating rooms and they are doing a nice job. Our room was very nice, clean and the beds were very comfortable. I liked the tile by the door. The bathroom was clean and everything worked as it should. I liked that the refrigerator was already cold when we got in the room. We did not get a chance to use the pool but the pool area looked nice. I used my AAA discount so it was reasonably priced. I would stay at this Best Western again.

We stayed the night after our reception and used their park and fly shuttle service to the airport. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient when scheduling these services, and helped us with late night take out options as well!

The hotel staff was extremely friendly. They are remolding and the new areas are very nice, the hallways are old and out dated and the carpet needs to be replaced. The breakfast was good but they could not keep up with the demand. Most of the food most of the time was empty. There was one person to restock the food and she did her best but they needed more help and more food. Rooms were nice and clean.

I chose this hotel, b/c they are pet friendly. $10 per pet per night no weight restrictions. Upon check in, the lady who greeted me was very nice and gave me a doggie treat bag!! What a nice touch! The only thing bad for the dogs is that the beds are super high. My little schnauzer injured his leg jumping down. He is okay now!! To walk the dogs, you have to go behind the Baymont and cross the street. The courtyard was cute with the basketball court. The room was very clean. The fitness center was kept too hot. Wifi is very weak. Breakfast was pretty good. cereal and eggs/sausage. Get this..they offer dinner Mon-Thurs. My boyfriend had the dinner last Monday. He said it was really good. lasagna and salad. That will save you money. Meijer is right across the street too.

So happy to have happened upon this conveniently located gem in Grand Rapids. Hop on I 96 for easy access to all of the fun downtown GR, including breweries, comedy club, concerts, museums. Great proximity to the airport, if you need, too.

We traveled down to Grand Rapids for some local attractions, and we were looking for a place to stay. Hot Wire offered an excellent deal on this hotel. The hotel was fantastic. Our king suite was comfortable for myself and two children, the pool is clear and huge, there is a complimentary dinner, and breakfast was great. It was a gem of a find for the deal we got through Hotwire.

Loved the way the bed was so comfortable and soft. The elevator smelled fabulous and the entire establishment seemed to radiate cleanliness and fresh accommodating vibe throughout. The fridge worked very well and had abundant towels and soaps. The heat lights in the bathroom were a nice touch as well. Very friendly staff!

We got a big room, and bed was comfortable. Easy access to services around. Good location. There was a mild displeasing odor, probably due to manifest problems with the toilet flushing. Fixable issue, so should not be a worry for other travellers.

Kelsey at the front desk was very helpful! When I went to check in at the hotel, I was told that i couldn't because I was not 21... Disappointing it was yes, however i was able to get a full refund. At that point Kelsey called local hotels that had a minimum check in age of 18. In which she found the Red Roof Inn. In addition, she had a shuttle take me over there and since Red Roof is a sister company to Best Western she even transferred the shuttle service from the Best Western I had scheduled to the Red Roof Inn to take me to the airport. I feel very fortunate for her help, as I was already exhausted from my trip! Kelsey was my hero for the day!

Nice room but beds too high. It was hard to get on and off. Bathroom needed serious updating. The grout was crumbling and everything in that bathroom was old. The room had a nice big refrigerator which was nice. The room was a bit damp and the air conditioner was loud but it was needed. The staff was nice and the breakfast was good. I'd stay again if the bathrooms were updated.

Pros: Excellent staff, clean, quiet, decent breakfast, discounts to local restaurants, decent internet speed, great shower, plenty of hot water. Cons: One bed broken (foundation), Office chair too low uncomfortable working height at desk (chest level for me and I am 5'10) TV screen quality poor and few channels to choose from and refrigerator froze my food.

We traveled in a group and everyone found something to love about the experience. The basketball court on the grounds was a hit with some of the kiddos; everyone enjoyed the heated indoor pool. A simple, lovely dinner in the evening (which you take back to your room vs. eating in the continental breakfast area) was a nice surprise. We took advantage of 15% off our meal at Brann's Steak House (adjacent) both days. This is offered to all hotel guests!

The hotel was great. It had a nice indoor pool and sauna. There are also jacuzzi rooms, which I took advantage of. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and the staff was excellent. The hotel price was excellent and a great value for your money. Also, the steak restaurant next to the hotel is really good. The airport is only 8 minutes away, I will stay here again!

My husband and I were in Grand Rapids for a concert at the DeVos Performance Center. While it was a 15 minute drive to our destination, we chose this hotel because we have stayed here before and had great service. As expected, we were not disappointed. We highly recommend this hotel. I would love to rate this hotel higher, the front desk staff was pleasant, the cleaning staff kind and attentive, the pool clean and fun; HOWEVER, every time I looked closer I saw serious signs of poor maintenance. Our door did not work and took multiple attempts to open, the bed frames had huge exposed screws sticking out, the rooms were poorly painted and the bathroom had paint splatters everywhere and an ill-fitting recently installed door with the store sticker still on it. Then the breakfast was under-stocked and the woman replenishing would have been surpassed by a snail, worse still, she flat out lied to customers. We were there for 2 nights and when she felt diners had had enough she stopped restocking and told everyone they were out, they weren't, she was just done making breakfast for the 100+ guests that arrived hungry. I pressed her about the waffle mix (which comes in a mix that takes 2 minutes to whip up, she told my daughter they were out of it and I pointed out that I could see the replacement mix in the kitchen. She shrugged, I might have time to bring it out (there was an hour left of breakfast!). 40 minutes later, she did bring out more. If she had not been dishonest and at least pretended to be concerned i would have rated this hotel higher, but her attitude honestly spoiled the whole experience. I know this sounds like "American privilege" but most everyone was polite to her, she just literally could not have cared less about performing her job and it was obvious.

The staff was very professional, friendly, and accommodating. The room was nice, The beds were great! 4 pillows each. The indoor pool was huge, nice hot tub and workout room. Free breakfast was excellent. They even had hot dogs and more available when we checked in near dinner time.

the room was big and clean...there was no street noise. They had a swimming pool and hot tub. The hotel staff was very friendly. also included was breakfast. The maid service was great by the time I got back to my room everything was done.

Amazing, helpful staff. Nice, clean rooms. Breakfast here is a real treat. Quiet and peaceful here. I may even hit the hot tub tomorrow :) If I return to Grand Rapids this will be my first choice for lodging.

We got a steal for this hotel on hotwire. We got 2 queen beds, and the room was clean and spacious. Wasn't fancy, but fairly updated and clean. Bathroom was nothing to write home about but wasn't sketchy either. The pool was huge, clean and had plenty of towels. Large hot tub was a little cloudy. Here's the #1 reason to stay: free breakfast AND dinner served daily! Breakfast was huge, 2 hot entrees, waffles, cereal, bagels, etc. Those 2 ladies worked their butts off to keep everything restocked and clean. Then at night dinner was served in the lobby! Each night they had a different entree catered in, as well as hot dogs and salad. Just the fact that you could vacation and only eat out once a day-awesome! Apparently this owner has several hotels down 28th street and does this at them all. Sure, you can stay somewhere fancy for way more money. But this hidden gem will get my business next time we go to GR!

The most quiet hotel I've stayed in. Very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very nice also. The location was very convenient: close to highways, yet in a nice area, close to stores and restaurants. This hotel was much nicer than a different one close by that we stayed in for one night.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful, but it's an old hotel. I had plumbing issues even after it was "fixed". It was not worth the price I paid either, though for a lower price I would stay there Free dinner and breakfast were good and the pool was nice with hottub. Fitness room hours did not meet my needs nor did it have what I really wanted.

Only problem was that the desk chair leaned too far back. Staff replaced it with a new chair in about 5 minutes! The room was very clean and bed quite comfortable. The only thing I saw that needs attention is the hallway carpet, but the hotel is very busy.

Everything was clean, but definitely no-frills. The ceilings on the first floor looked like they are less than 7 feet - so if you're tall, make sure you get a second floor room. The bathroom was clean, but sink didn't drain well, and the tub had a patchwork of tiles that had been ripped out and put back haphazardly.

booked on line , was very satisfied with experience. our flights where midnight in and four am out. so we needed sleep and comfort . we received both from best western. the staff where very accommodating and assisted us with our difficult schedule and time frame. "Great visit. just one small issue"

I have made several visits to this hotel for buisness so i decided to go with the family. Trip was great except for one issue that with a very small adjustment can be corrected for any future guests. My children and I were disappointed that the staff decided to add chemicals to the pool at 8:00am on Sunday morning rendering the pool closed for 3 hours. I would assume barring any catastrophe that I was not made aware of, that general maintenance of the pool would be appropriately conducted during its scheduled closed hours so to not impact guest access. Also a sign notifying guests of pool status would help, if I had not been in the exercise room and warn another family of the pools recent addition of chemicals they would have been unaware. Short of that I will still continue to use this hotel when i am shipped out to Grand Rapids.

I had an amazing time at this hotel once again. I like the staff, their friendliness, professionalism, and respect to you as a customer. The wife and I got a Jacuzzi Suite, but our cooling system was not working for the room. The staff tried first with the maintenance guy, but after coming back from dinner and the room still hotter than outside, I had to go and request a new room. They moved me right next door, which was very easy to move all our stuff. Although, this room was cooler than the previous one, it was still too hot for my comfort but I managed and decided not to complain anymore. Overall it was an AMAZING time with just the Wifey and I.

We booked here to have 24 people in our family come for a get-together, visiting family in Grand Rapids. Booked 7 rooms all next to each other. Can't say enough of the staff...Rose, Kelsey and Kali who went above and beyond for us. This place has a great indoor pool with hot tub, outside basketball area, gym, rooms to use for all coming together, great breakfast and we even were offered deserts on the last night of our stay! Everything just was perfect. We were here for 3nights, 4 days...check in wasn't until after 3 pm, but we stopped In at 8:30am and were told all the rooms were ready and they let us check in early! Would totally recommend this hotel. Close to airport, HUGE Meijer's right across the street and many places to eat nearby. Can't go wrong here and the value was good. Hats off to the great staff and workers here! They were so friendly and helpful the entire stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff, especially the young man at the front desk, was amazing - going above and beyond what he needed to assure our experience was comfortable and pleasant. Our acomodations were very comfortable - clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the window draping as it was as dark as night until we opened them in the morning to find it was bright and sunny out. The breakfast was very adequate and served in their clean area upstairs.

"More than I expected"

This hotel offered shuttle service at 4: 30 am to the Grand Rapids airport and for returning our rental car the night before. A free dinner was offered the night before our flight as well as a bagged to-go breakfast early that morning. Each person we came into contact was very helpful. We stayed here at the end of a two-week UP Michigan trip and appreciated all the extras offered.

This was my second stay at this hotel. The first time, I was very happy with the stay. This time, check in took forever, there was trouble with the payment method that I had used a week prior without problem, the bed was very uncomfortable, the room was dirty, and there was glitter all over the hallway and room floor.

I had to bring my son to camp and needed a hotel to stay over. I found this hotel by bidding on a room on Priceline.com. I was pleasantly surprised with the room, cleanliness, and the breakfast provided in the morning that prevented me from having to stop somewhere else to eat in the morning before I headed home.

"Good place for a night"

This was one of the few places in the city to stay at. I was worry about the place bc of the reviews. The place is actually pretty decent. It was clean and had ac. Maids cleaned our room when we were out. We got a king bed with a pull out couch. Both rooms had a tv with cable. Bathroom was clean and had all the necessary toiletries. Offered breakfast in the morning which was nice. There's really no view in this area, and it's by the freeway, so might be noisy at night, but I was too tired to noticed. I would recommend this hotel. But didn't stay at the other ones, but this one was good enough.

We booked this hotel through hotwire.com. Myself, my husband and our two small children stayed two nights. They put us in a King Suite that had two huge rooms (a living space with pull out couch, and a king bedroom) and two bathrooms. There was plenty of space for each of us to spread out and enjoy the weekend. Also, they brought a pack and play up to the room, right away, for the baby when we called to the front desk. The facility was clean, the breakfast was good, the staff was friendly and helpful. The pool was great. It was a great experience overall!

"Stayed while visiting family, okay but not great"

We stayed here (May 25th-29th) while visiting family, though this is more of a business hotel. We stayed in a king room at almost the very end of a hallway (rm 203). The hallways are a little like a maze but they have good signage and guest laundry which is nice. Our A/C in our room was at 60 but it was still warm in there (it rained every day as well, plus we had our curtains drawn, so the heat wasn't effecting it), so I don't think it worked quite right, it also made an occasional weird high pitch sound when turning off. The sheets were nice and clean, the refrigerator worked nice enough. They have done some remodeling but the caulking and painting between the doorway and the tub was done VERY badly, it didn't effect the function but looked bad. Also, the bathroom door would not lock. The microwave wouldn't work correctly, the timer/clock would get stuck and it would stay on despite it not counting down, and after we took our food out. This seems like a fire hazard... There were some bratty kids next door that would knock and then run. I know because I was looking through the peephole when they did it and would have opened the door but was not decent. I thought about calling the room and telling them to control their children but called the desk instead. They apologized but it continued the whole time we were there. They have a free breakfast, but we didn't partake. I thought it was nice they also had an upstairs dining area but it was very hot and stuffy. Also for how big and maze like the hotel is, they may consider having more than one elevator. We had a DND sign up and it was respected, we didn't have housekeeping in the whole time so can't speak to that. It was convenient to the freeway but not so close it was heard, and had several food places nearby. The last day (Sunday) we went down to the pool. It was busy and had a few kids but clean and nothing out of the ordinary. I believe the deepest part is 9ft which is more then most hotels. Some adults were monopolizing the hot tub so I can't speak to that. They also had a disable person lift and bathrooms (which not all hotels do) in the pool area. All in all, it's an okay basic place to stay if your not picky about things, I don't think it was worth the price though (our average was about $100 a night, $109 including tax).

"Far exceeded expectations of both me and my travel partner"

Everything in room was in excellent shape: mattresses, video system, Internet access, sparkling bathroom. All appeared recently renovated. Breakfast was first rate. Check in super efficient. My partner and I felt we got much more than we bargained for. We both have a hard time believing it was rated a mere single star rating. We didn't bring suits, but there was an inviting pool as well. They also have timely shuttles to the airport. My partner and I look to save $ on our budget conscious trips, and have suffered through some lousy accommodations. This Best Western cost us less than some of those mentioned, but was by far the best experience

I came up to Grand Rapids for a graduation this past few days. When I arrived the staff was very helpful. I have a list of pros and cons, however keep in mind I know this is not a 4 star hotel but for the price it sure beats everything else in its class. I would stay here again. Pros: I found a deal on Hotwire for last minute accommodations, and they gave me a king suite instead as a free upgrade. The room was clean it was a remodeled room with a good size TV. Checked the bed and no bugs or blood stains very clean bed. The breakfast was good for a free breakfast. Pool was clean and common areas where clean. Grocery store across the street and good restaurants nearby. Cons: Even though it was clean, my room smelled like a dead rodent. Fixtures are kinda outdated like shower head and no central thermostat. Shower curtain was too small, not long enough and drain kind of slow. The free soap and shampoo are very generic kind of garbage very low quality. No room safe :/ Ceiling paint not all done missed a big spot in corner room 125. Comforter cover by sheet not duvet Pillows need replacing very worn. Breakfast was very limited with hot items, one day it was Bacon and Egg Cheese omelette , the next day it was scrambled eggs and sausage links. Waffles are the only other option daily.

Unbelievable person service. Clean Room, Quite room, Wi-Fi worked quickly, updated décor, hot water and cool air. Very well up kept hotel. The staff were al very friendly. Breakfast buffet was always kept full and hot. great selection. Pool area was kept up, crystal clear water. I don't EVER do these surveys but this was a terrific stay all around and wanted others to know. I will be returning to this location with my family. Also on a side note, there is a basketball pad and a garden gazebo area that is not on the list of amenities which adds to the family experience. Also the pool is larger than most hotels, and it has a depth to 7 1/2 feet. Indoor pool and was at a great temperature.

It was very affordable with awesome breakfast and comfortable room. The location is nice and the Brann's restraunt next door is great for a quick steak dinner of late night snack/drink. Centrally located as well near the highway

This was an overnight stay. Room was very spacious and clean. As it was just one night everything was fine. In the morning went down for free continental breakfast by the way very nice breakfast setup. On my way back to our room I spilled O.J on the check in floor. Manager on duty was very helpful with getting it cleaned up quickly. He sure has a great staff who came right away and cleaned. They didn't make me feel as if I was a problem for them. I would stay there again

Overall the hotel was clean and breakfast was good but having three very large flies in the room that I had to take care of because the window would not close completely kind of put a crimp in the overall experience.

We stayed here on a road trip. It is located close to the highway exit. I received a large comfortable room on the first floor. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with many choices. I would stay here again. The front desk staff was pleasant and friendly.

Left clothes in the room, called same day to report. Staff couldn't find them but said they would check with housekeeping and call me back. Woke me up at 2:30 AM that night (!) to report that they couldn't find them. Seriously?! Room wasn't particularly clean, food on TV remote. Door hardware wasn't functioning properly, and the deadbolt wouldn't fully retract when I tried to leave the room, requiring 3-4 minutes of wrenching on the lever in order to get door open.

This was probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. When we arrived there was urine in the toilet. When we tried to flush it down the toilet kept overflowing. I called the front desk and no on ever came to the room to take care of the problem. The beds were hard as a rock! The exterior of the hotel is horrible!

I travel constantly for my work. I stay in more hotels than I would like to. This being said. This best western is clean, the staff is very helpful. Nice pool and hot tub. Next to lots of shopping, bar & grill next door (you could throw a rock and hit it from the hotel entry. They also have an airport shuttle free of charge. * Note: if you are one of those whiney people who wants 5 Star service... Go to one of the 5 Star hotels by the airport. They start around $200 a night for standard room, get a suite apx 350-400 a night and you can get pampered.

This hotel is very nice. Everyone was very nice, but we were told that breakfast started at 6, when actually it doesn't start until 7 on weekends. We were unable to eat breakfast at the hotel before we had to leave for the day. Rooms were clean and service was good.

I ended a Michigan reunion trip with a quick visit to my nephew in Grand Rapids. I wanted something with quick access to I-96 and this is directly off the exit; easy on, easy off. I only stayed one night but everything was lovely and comfortable. Good-sized room, king bed, everything clean and neat and in working order. Breakfast the next morning was varied and tasty; the biscuits are particularly great! A staffer was continuously checking the buffet to make sure foods were replenished as needed. If I had needed a restaurant for dinner the night before there were plenty of options within walking distance, and many more a short drive away. I didn't use the pool, but there were many happy families enjoying the heck out of it.

We were not able to checkin until 7 PM because the rooms had been cleaned even though check-out is at 11 and check-in is at 3. The staff acted like this was no big deal and just expected us to sit and wait. When we got into our room there was old eaten food in the fridge and the room was "okay" for cleaning. not great. The bathroom wasn't very clean and the shower was pretty gross. The water didn't drain in the tub so you were left standing in water the whole shower and the curtain was pretty dirty so I wanted to get out as quickly as possible.

My husband and I had a wonderful evening at the Best Western in Grand Rapids, Mi. We booked the room for after a concert and it was awesome to have a hot tub right in our room to relax in. First time at a hotel that I actually wanted to take the pillow home with me!

"Terrible experience, not worth the money"

This hotel is rundown and the halls smell like smoke. The bed was comfortable, but there was a huge empty space in the sitting area where a chair should've been. Except for the bed, everything was bare bones basic. I cannot believe we paid $159 for this room, but rooms in GR were scarce that night (we booked a month ahead). We stay in GR a lot, but never there again.

I've stayed at this hotel many times and the staff is always friendly and rooms clean. The pool and hot tub are great after a long day or drive up to Michigan. Breakfast is a little bland but filling non the less. Just generic egg omelets, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and waffles. The hotel is right off the highway so is great for travel. Next door is Brann's Steakhouse which is an amazing place to eat

Nice place, deep pool, big hot tub, they even cooked hot dogs for guests. Nice! This is close to many things. Even a Meijer is across the street if your forgot anything. We will go back. The price was under 100 & you can`t beat that.

It all started when the Hotel's hot tub did not work. The wife was looking forward to soaking in some hot water to make her feel better. I went to the front desk to report the problem and the employee Ms. Amanda, exceeded my expectations in taking care of the problem. She offered to up grade our standard room to a Jacuzzi room, so that the wife could use a hot tub. She did an outstanding job in satisfying us. I will be sure to stay at this hotel again!

We loved everything about our stay here. The guest room was nicely appointed and very clean. But the best thing about our stay was the incredibly comfortable mattress. We had the best sleep that we've ever had away from home. When traveling in the future, we will try to find a Best Western in the area.

i had a not so pleasant experience the room wasn't the cleanest and staff wasn't the nicest. I wouldn't book this room ever again. Nor would I refer a friend. I kept getting knocks on my door hours before checkout even with the do not disturb tag on my door.

We have stayed here 5 times this year and won't be back. I am a Best Western Platinum member. They did give us a lower rate for the phone and the chair, but I gave up after that. This time I got the lemon room. It started with the phone in the room not working and a broken chair. They fixed that. Then I went to use the blow dryer and shards of metal blew out of it and it made a horrendous screeching noise. We were going to a special event, and I had to go with wet hair. Also, there were ants crawling on the bathroom floor. I have photos. The door looked like it had been broken in and there was no security lock on it. You had to slam it to get it to close. The bed if you got on the right side, the pedestal dropped to the side. I almost fell off the bed twice trying to get in.

I stay at this hotel several times a year and often request the same room. since my last stay in November, 2015, the room has been repainted and also new carpet, furniture & beds. A great place for the business traveler but also many families on the weekends.

this hotel has a good, professional, & courteous staff. found them all friendly, helpful & courteous. all equipment worked in the room & it was cleaned well. the heating unit is not loud & works well. the pool is nice & has a deep end of about 7 ft. adjacent is a hot tub, that will mellow out your aches! breakfast is good, with waffles, cereal & eggs. i'd stay here again.

The hotel was good for the price. Room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that it was very noisy in the hall until late hours probably because my room was located on the way to the pool. Very close to the airport which was helpful as I left on an early morning flight the next morning.

"Property Stolen, Nothing was done!"

I had a package of 4 2-liter Pop stolen from me. I had purchased these right from Sam's Club right before I checked in. I had a lot of stuff in my hands so when I checked in to my room, I had placed the pop down inside the doorway. 10 minutes later, after unloading some things I went for the pop, and to my amazement and shock, the pop was gone. I reported it and nothing was done to locate it or to check cameras or to offer me compensation. I feel that they could have taken a few dollars off my bill to make it right or to even show that they "care" with what happened to me. I do not like to have things taken from me and never thought this would happen especially being right at my door. My room was right next to housekeeping door where several housekeepers who were coming in and out of that door..... but I don't know I am just so unsatisfied with the way they handled this, I am thinking about not ever staying with them again.

Room was very nice , clean and modern. Bed wasn't the most comfortable , but far from the most uncomfortable weve ever stayed in. We had alot of water pipe noise in the early morning, loud enough to wake us from a dead sleep. Breakfast was great, but make sure you pay attention to what time it starts because if you are there a minute early the lady that sets it up will yell at you and give you dirty looks when you come back. the rest of the staff are all great though. For the money its a decent place to stay and the good far outweighs any shortcomings.

Don't even know where to start. It is very noisy in the room, any time the neighbors close the door you jump on your bad. The non-smoking room stunk like somebody just had a cigarette. After the front desk person was nice enough to give me another room, I've realized that none of the rooms have ny noise reduction and spent the rest of the night listening to my neighbors' conversations. The new room was very dirty! Dirty toilet and bath tub, the towel had blood stain, the sheets had brown and yellow stains. In the morning I've had another surprise waiting for me, a cockroach. I'm glad I haven't seen it before I fell asleep. In addition the elevator and vending machine didn't work.

"Double Charged for Two Bug Infested Rooms: Stay Away From This Place!"

We booked two rooms for my daughter's birthday. She wanted to have a hotel camp out with the family and be able to go swimming. Since this place had the largest indoor pool in Grand Rapids, we opted to stay here. Booked two rooms and was double charged for them. The room my girls were in had tiny ants crawling all over the floors, and the room my fiance and I stayed in had earwigs crawling in the bathtub and holes in the bathroom walls. Both rooms smelled terrible as well. Management was unapologetic for the double charge (I even received a snotty email from one of the managers after I filed a complaint) and we had to return to the hotel on Monday to even get the issue resolved because they were unwilling to do anything about it over the weekend. They offered no recompense for putting our bank account into the negative and seemed to not care that their error had caused us financial issues. Stay away from this hotel!!

We stayed the weekend to get away from the kids in a jacuzzi room and had a great relaxing time. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was a full house when we stayed and still had no problems or concerns. Breakfast was pretty good I just wish there was more seating space to eat as we had to take our food to our room and eat. Overall our experience was a fantastic one and we will be back when we feel the need to get away again.

very accessible from the expressway, with in walking distance to Meijer and other stores, if you had to walk. The shuttle will take you anywhere you ask if you don't have transportation. We where very satisfied with our stay, everyone was very pleasant. We would stay again

I have stayed at this hotel 3 other times before this one and hands down have rated it each time as excellent and above average, however, my wife and I had a horrible experience with the breakfast staff just taking away items not letting us know it was time to shut down or asking if we wanted anything, also our Jacuzzi broke down and maintenance never showed up, and a light socket was broke so the light on the table would not turn on we had to move it to a different socket, so all in all It was not the best experience that I am used to having with this Best Western.

"improved over the years"

I use to use this place as my "cheap stay"...it was tolerable,but, not nice. now, they are spending some $$ and improving..and raising rates in step. they need to keep moving the target higher to keep up with these rates..but, give them credit for attempting to improve.

"Will not return"

There was so many things that went wrong on this trip. Firt lets start with the reason we booked this hotel. We booked it for the sauna. it said in advertisement that the sauna was still there, and it is still there but hard to use when it is padlocked shut and it is no longer a usable facility. Second thing is the TV. I am not sure why you even have a tv in the room. if no of the channels work then why have a tv in the room.... We watch Netflix on my phone it was that bad. The third thing is the heat.... well what is supposed to be heat. The heat worked when it wanted to. it would work for about 10min then it would just blow freezing cold air. and it never turned off. unless we turned the whole thing off it never stoped blowing cold air. we had to sleep with the system turned off so we could try to stay warm. when we finally gave up and called to have the heat fixed. the guy turned it back on hit it 2 times and said see there is heat. i said i know it will work for 10min and then it goes back to cold air. he asked if we where leaving today i said yes. he said it is fixed enough for the rest of your stay and left. pretty sure that id not fixed! So needless to say we will not be going back any time soon. TOTAL WASTE OF MY MONEY!!!!!!

This hotel is a great value and the staff are great during check in and check out. The hotel has made some improvements and it is looking very good. The breakfast is great, fruits, cold and hot cereal, eggs, waffles, milk, juces.

"Visiting a Friend"

I called the hotel while we were driving and asked about upgrading our room to a king-suite and having the additional change added to my bill. The woman that assisted me was very nice and upgraded our room without charge. Thank you! We ended up having our 4 and 6 year old grandsons with us for the second night and the sofa-bed was GREAT! The boys thought it was a magic bed. As my grandson, age 4 says, "We LOVE Best Western Hotel!"

I always stay at this hotel while in Grand Rapids due to location, quality & price. I often receive the multi-night discount due to the length of my stay. Rooms are very good for the age of the property. Although the breakfast eggs are somewhat rubbery, the sausage gravy is the best I've had in a hotel.

"Good Value"

The hotel had nice beds and the Rooms were clean. Would recommend to anyone needing a good place to stay near the airport. Safe Area. Has a nice center area with basketball court and seating areas if you have an extended stay. Traveled for Business. Would stay again.

"Bed Bugs"

My fiance and I reserved a King Suite for 2 nights. The rates were exceptional and the room was actually nice. We loved the fact that it had 2 full bathrooms. We checked in around 11pm. After getting settled in bed for a couple of hours, around 1am, my back began itch. After a few scratches I felt a bump forming and there wasn't any relief for the itch. My fiance turned on the lights and moved the pillows around....and there were tiny bugs crawling around. I smashed one and it was filled with blood. We were able to video another one crawling on another pillow. We showered and gathered our things carefully and left the room. The young lady at the front desk acted very unsurprised and nonchalantly told me that there's no way I could've seen a bed bug because they were "microscopic" . Oookay! However, my money was refunded by the manager Shawna and she gave me a courtesy call to let me know that she'd called Orkin to have them to exterminate the room

"Good for one night stay"

Good location for visits to Grand Rapids. Had a meal at the Hopcat downtown which was well worth a visit. Visited during a road trip so we're surprised to find that there was an Art show throughout the city which was a great bonus. We managed to visit the Gerald Ford museum for free as a result of this. Hotel was clean and the Staff friendly and relatively good value for money

"Great for the price"

The rooms were Updated and clean, nice staff and the breakfast was good. Overall, this was a very nice place to stay and well positioned between 28th street and I-96. Quick access to anywhere. Having stayed at 9 different hotels in the grand rapids area, this will be my first choice for economical stays.

"Stay here for ArtPrize"

While this hotel is not downtown, it is only a short drive to view ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. There is where I stay when visiting Grand Rapids. My adult daughter and I enjoyed the hot tub the evening of our arrival. We had a pleasant stay.

The best part of this hotel is its location. It's right on 28th street where you can find most anything. It's less than 10 minutes from the airport. The rooms can be loud with a lot of hall noise. Maid service was poor - we left the room at 8am and came back at 3:30pm to get ready for a dinner meeting. The room was not prepared. I went into the hall and asked if she would make up our room next and she just kept saying "front desk". I went to the desk and the person asked "did you ask her in English"? Duh, well yes. My room didn't get made up for another 45 minutes. The rooms were clean but spare. Not even an easy chair to sit it. If you want a place to sleep, this is OK. Anything more, I'd pass.

"Needs serious updates! "

Very disappointed with this hotel. Door hinge was broke and maintenance had to show us how to open the door a different way until they can make some updates. Fridge and microwave did not work until maintenance had to come back down and fix it. Knob in bathroom was broken right off. And sheets and bedding were so wrinkly that I wasn't even sure they were clean we will never stay with best Western again

Sorry to hear we didn't make the mark for your expectations with our hotel. We hate to hear about unsatisfied guests. Happily, we are getting brand new furniture by the end of this month! I've asked housekeeping to take a closer look at who cleaned your room that day, and why the sheets may have been wrinkled. Sometimes if they don't get folded fast enough after coming out of the dryers they tend to wrinkle. Either way, you weren't happy and we hate to hear that. I hope you consider trying us out again in the future.

This property is a nice quit place with clean, nicely furnished rooms. The front desk staff is friendly and was helpful in recommending a place for dinner. It is conveniently located with a restaurant located on adjacent property. Other restaurants, a large sampling of corporate America, are located across the street. The breakfast room was clean and well supplied.

"Can't sleep with the noise"

Staff was loud, 2-way radios, street noise and every shower or flush could be heard from other rooms. We never received an e-mail confirmation for our room so had to call 3 times to confirm. It was a no-smoking room but the odor was significant.

"Good night's sleep"

Bed was very comfortable, heating/ac unit exceptionally quiet. This motel was a very satisfactory place to stay on 28th St. in Grand Rapids. Good hot breakfast. Breakfast area somewhat cramped--try to eat when not too busy. Coffee and tea in lobby nice touch.

This isn't a new hotel (60's or 70's design), but it is every bit as good a place to stay as a newer property. Staff is very friendly & responsive if there is a problem. The price is competitive due to several other hotels in the area.

This is a great place to stay in Grand Rapids. The price was wonderful, the room was clean and it was perhaps one of the best stays in Grand Rapids! It's close to a lot of nice restaurants, etc. Accessibility to this place is quite easy!
