Fab-u-lous, it's a 10 from me. Excellent stay from start to finish. All Staff so accommodating, nothing too much trouble. Food / service amazing. Endless skimmed milk and Earl Grey Tea Bags, thank you. So looking forward to next year. Excellent, thank you!

For me, the sign of a good hotel is when it feels like a home away from home. Forest Hills certainly feels like that to me. I had the absolute treat of staying here for a week as part of a craft retreat organised by a group of friends. We hired out a conference room in the hotel for the week. The time together was fabulous but what made it one of the best retreats ever was the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was not just an enjoyable one but an exceptional one. The staff were highly professional and incredibly attentive but all done in a friendly and warm manner with a sprinkling of good humour. The housekeeping staff were excellent at ensuring we were comfortable in our rooms and getting used to our individual requirements and preferences. The food was simply delicious, quality presentation and a real treat everyday. I cannot wait to return!

Stayed here as part of a group of friends using the hotel for a craft week. We were so well looked after by the staff team who saw that we had all we needed throughout the day whilst we were busy crafting. Accommodation was comfortable although my room was a little dated & would benefit from a refurbishment. Food during our stay was lovely and any requests were made whenever possible

I've been coming here for a craft retreat with friends for ten years and I must say the staff, while always helpful, were outstanding this year. Nothing was too much trouble to them. I require a gluten free diet and last year I struggled with food choices. This year the chef and kitchen staff went out of their way to accommodate my every need which included gf treats for elevenses every day and the conference room was constantly topped up with hot drinks throughout the day and evening. My room was clean, warm and comfortable though I didn't spend much time there. I have a disability which means that carrying things can be a challenge but I never had to ask for assistance; staff offered to carry food, drinks and my bags. Really looking forward to returning again next year.

Back at Forest Hill's for I think 13 years running - surely that says enough ! The hotel is a little tired, but has started planned renovations since Covid. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and had a new shower room. The cleaner was so thoughtful when I mentioned I was glad the room had opening windows as it had turned warm - she found a fan (there was one in the wardrobe) and left it on all day beside an open window, so when I returned the room was lovely and cool. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Helping hands with luggage were always available. The dining room has new crockery and new furniture is, I believe, next on the list. Meals and snacks were plentiful, well cooked and attractively presented, again by helpful staff. I look forward to being back soon, and recommend Forest Hills if you are looking in this area.

I am part of a large group (20+) who have been holding craft retreats at Forest Hill's for the past ten years. It has become a real home from home, and the weekend has expanded to a week as we all feel so comfortable here. We have come to know many of the staff over the years, and it's good to see familiar faces and to meet new staff. The service is generally excellent, but this year they surpassed themselves! They are so attentive, checking constantly to see if we need anything (we are pretty self-contained in the Overton Suite, venturing out for meals!) and meeting our every need with a smile, nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, and, as ever, our only (tongue-in-cheek) complaint is that they feed us too much! Freshly baked biscuits for elevenses is a new and welcome addition. The kitchen coped well with various dietary requirements and even provided special treats for those with specific restrictions. Some parts of the hotel are looking a little tired and dated, but it is clear that a ‘slow and steady' refurbishment is underway and that plans are in place for further updates. I am hoping that they will replenish the pillows, mine were not great. But the room was clean and the bed comfortable.Storage was more than adequate for a week's stay. We had a wonderful, relaxed stay and will gather again next year, travelling from all over (I think Edinburgh and Bournemouth are the furthest) for another week of crafting and relaxation.

I organise a craft retreat and instead of our usual long weekend, we decided to extend it to a full week this year. As a group, we've been coming to this hotel for years and our attendees travel from all over the country. We've had a few issues over the years but this year, the hotel staff have pulled it out of the bag. Their attentiveness has been amazing and so was the food. Many congratulations to the chef for accommodating some of our fussy eaters (inc me) and those in the group with dietary requirements. Chef even baked us fresh warm cookies every morning for us to have with coffee for ‘elevenses'. We book the Overton Suite for the Craft group and it is bright and spacious for our group of 20+ ladies. Yes, some of the rooms are tired but they are clean and the mattresses are very comfortable. The hotel are making efforts to improve rooms as we can see great changes every time we visit. Some of the group went for daily walks into Frodsham and Cheshire Oaks is only 15 mins away. We've already provisionally booked our dates for next year and can't wait to return. We can't thank the staff enough for their kindness, attentiveness and assistance. All this helps makes our craft retreat a wonderful one. As one of the group said - “This has been the BEST Retreat yet!”.

I thoroughly appreciate being able to use the facilities at Forest Hills. The Leisure Team advise and encourage physical activity and mindfulness for members. There are a choice of classes with steps, aerotone, LTandB, Yoga, Pilates. spinning and toning that is a credit to their organizing skills. They also arrange aquasise and swimming lessons for our enjoyment. I am delighted to be able to be a member and use the facilities.

Some years after my last visit I was passing through Frodsham and,looking to eat, visited the Forest Hills. Although we were before the restaurants opening time we were greeted warmly by Leona. Having checked that the kitchen could accommodate us we were treated to an excellent, fresh cooked, meal. Leona was a delight to deal with and an exemplar of good service. Well done.

Visited today for a meal, even tho restaurant not officially open until 6.00 pm and it was only 4 pm, we were given a wonderful warm welcome from Leona who arranged with the chef that a meal could be provided, food was excellent but the service provided by Leona was superb nothing to much trouble Will certainly re visit

Over the past two years we have been regular visitors, using the facilities at Forest Hills (Leisure Club, Reception area, Restaurant services) We have an additional need/disability to consider. All the staff we have met are consistently warm, friendly, helpful and supportive, even though there is plenty to keep them busy. A couple of supervisors and team members are especially kindly, and will often go over and above the call of duty out of what I believe is a genuine caring spirit. I am deeply grateful. Thank you. This is a great location too!

Hotel is a bit tired and needs a refurb. Rooms are clean and staff accommodating. Biggest issue was no hot water or heating on the morning of our departure and how the hotel handled it. An apology was given but it didn't match the inconvenience of not being able to have a shower. I would have expected a much more proactive response from the management than we were given.

Friendly staff throughout the hotel. Warm greeting on reception as well as the restaurant. In addition I found the leisure facilities were very good, although the steam room was a bit too hot. Overall no issues.

A lovely hotel with super friendly staff and great amenities. Thank you for a wonderful night away. We used the leisure facilities and we loved it. The receptionists were both incredibly helpful with our queries. The room was so big and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast the next day was 10/10 for food and service. A little gem of a hotel and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

Just had the Best Roast ever !!! Customer Service was amazing special mention to Adam our waiter ho was happy to talk about local history and the area and Jo the chef who makes amazing roast potatoes. I will 100 % be booking in again after one of our walks round the Sandstone Trail. The views are amazing.

Overall four star experience, given the fact it was a relatively reasonably priced. We paid just under 100 for myself, husband and five-year-old which included breakfast for the one nigh. We were given a very spacious family bedroom. It was clean but a little dated, but the whole hotel is dated, and in need of a bit of a makeover. We were able to use the leisure facilities unfortunately steam room and sauna were both out of order. The changing rooms were a little bit grotty and could do with being a bit cleaner. Staff were very pleasant, we did not have a meal in the evening, but we did have a drink drink, which was a little overpriced for what we had. Decided not to have our meal there as it wasn't particularly atmospheric, although the view was very nice. Hotel was very quiet and we slept well. They do need to replace the pillows as they were disgustingly, lumpy and hard. The breakfast was quite disappointing, but again for what you paid for you can't really complain. The hot plates broke when we were there, and they made our food to order which actually was nicer. Could do with a few more choices, maybe some different yoghurts and better pastries. Overall, we would probably stay there again given the price, but it would be nice to see the place be updated.

Just had a 2 night stay that we got on living social such a bargain and we bided for a upgrade to a deluxe room and got it it was lovely staff all very helpful great gym and good food, Lovely village pubs 10min walk away only down side was changing rooms and showers need updating in leisure facilities .

We booked a 2 night stay ( which included the free breakfast offer ) as we had a family meal on the Saturday Night, and a friends birthday party on the Sunday afternoon, both coincidently in Frodsham. We had had a 1 night stay last year+ it was nice that they gave us the same room. The room was clean with everything you needed ( iron + ironing board on request) and we were really comfortable.

The hotel is reasonably priced and in general very good condition but it is a very tired hotel in desperate need of a makeover. I would imagine that when this place was first built it was truly an amazing place to see but now it just looks tired and crying out for some TLC. It isn't a cheap place to stay though and I would expect more to be honest. The planter outside the entrance is full of rubbish like beer bottles, socks, general rubbish etc which doesn't look like it's been cleaned up for a while. It's the first thing you see when you arrive and should be kept clean and tidy without any excuses. The rooms were comfortable and adequate in size but again very tired. The coral bathroom suite was a nostalgic memory but really this should have been modernised a long time ago. In all honesty we only stayed here one night and our stay was comfortable but I thought it was a shame that this once wonderful hotel has been allowed to decline. With some minimal effort (even if they just straighten the pictures on reception which drove me wild) this could be a fantastic hotel again.

The entrance road into the hotel was very bad, full of potholes so beware and be prepared to avoid if possible. I mentioned it to the Receptionist who said the owner knew about them but didn't care. Comfortable bed and clean room but bathroom in need of an update. Washbasin chipped and cracked. Almost impossible to fill the kettle from the basin tap because either kettle too big or basin too small. The shower didn't work so unable to use it. White toilet seat on a pink toilet. Carpets in public areas stained and threadbare in places. Restaurant very quiet with only three tables occupied. Good breakfast and very polite friendly staff. I'm sure there are smarter hotels in the area but for the price it wasn't too bad. EV Charger for guest use if you can get to it before it's used by staff and casual users. We tried on 3 occasions but failed each time. I'm sure the vehicle is plugged in and forgotten about. We were warned that if it was in use there was nothing we could do about it.

I stayed solo on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day night as visiting relatives nearby. I was charged £221 for this stay, and they wanted extra for going into breakfast! I didn't go in, and just had tea in the room.The room was clean and comfortable but my reception on arrival having driven from Guildford was offhand and I arrived very early but was told bluntly to come back after 2.30 to check in. When I checked in no one offered to help with my case and bags and there was no lift. No smile, no happy Xmas ! Basically it was a comfortable room, good view. Similarly elderly relatives checking in next day who could hardly walk were not offered help with their luggage. I t wouldn't take much in training attitude to make a much better experience. An offer of a free breakfast to someone paying a lot for solo occupancy wouldn't have hurt. It was Xmas Day.!!

Worse hotel ever. Dirty, smelly, cold and rude staff. Don't stay in room 222. Since looking at reviews here nothings changed since April and the room hadn't improved. No heating in the whole building. Staff rude and tell lies, fob you off and insult you with the smallest heater for an Executive room. Dread to think what the cheapest rooms were like if this one's too go by. Photos tell the story!!! Don't take my word for it. All this the first night after your wedding day. Checked out next day only stayed the night freezing as I'm disabled and have heart failure, just couldn't do it and the weather was horrendous. Breakfast was the worse food I've seen cooked. How can you get it so wrong what's going on. More filth in this room from manky carpets to sticky tables. Saw a table with a table cloth on so thought we'd sit there only go be told to move. This hadn't been cleared away since evening menu. Staff unfriendly and rude.

Hotel is very dated, its cleanish .. Food was great but expensive same with the drinks Swimming pool was good Have paid twice to stay there I have called Best Western and the hotel 4 times now and only Elaine can help but she is not available Customer service statement - YOU need to call back .. They take my money twice and I need to call them at their convenience. Sad part is was checking it out for a function but obviously its failed and the business will go to a professional hotel

Stayed here with my wife and adult daughter. We had two very nice rooms. Both were a good size, with (almost – see below) everything in working order. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Special thanks to reception manager Elaine Taylor, who sorted out confusion caused by Booking.com. The latter had got my booking wrong, and contacting them to correct it only made it worse. Eventually I rang the hotel direct, and spoke to Elaine, who went to some trouble and got it all sorted for us. The hotel seems mainly focused on big events – corporate, wedding, etc – but this was no problem. I'm told there was a band one evening, but we didn't even hear it from our rooms. ​Our rooms had a wonderful view over the Mersey to Liverpool on the horizon. We were very glad we'd brought our binoculars, and our artist daughter was sorry she'd left her sketchpad at home. There were rabbits on the lawn, and Frodsham Forest is right next door - excellent for walks, although sturdy shoes are recommended and there are no barriers at the edge of the steeper pathways. One of our bedside lamps didn't work. The on/off switch seemed faulty. When I reported this the receptionist said she would mention it to housekeeping, but it had not been fixed when we left after our two nights there. The swimming pool is included in the room price. Deep end 1.50 m, quite small but lovely warm water; left hand lanes for leisure swimmers. A small pool for children and a jacuzzi. Towels included so you don't need to bring your room towels. You have to book your slot in advance at the swimming pool reception. Various treatments on offer, at extra cost. There was a drinking water dispenser at Reception and at the swimming pool desk, with ice, very useful for the hot weather. The breakfast was very good, the usual full English, with an option of “Grab'n'Go, which is an English breakfast without the main, cooked course – so fruit juice, cereal, fruit salad, toast, coffee, etc. And they can bag it up for you to take away if you wish. So it was disappointing when we went to breakfast on our last day to encounter a notice worthy of Basil Fawlty - something like: “Guests are required to be properly dressed … no bathing attire, … onesies or slippers.” (I can't remember the full list.) Is such a notice really necessary? Could it not at least be more polite - “please” rather than “are required”? And what a strange list. Maybe they've had people coming straight from the fitness suite in swimsuits (unlikely though that seems) – but slippers? The staff seem to have more sense and courtesy than the notice-writer - my daughter did go in slippers (her shoes were damp from a walk in the woods) and they made no objection. Or maybe her slippers just looked like shoes. Anyway, the staff were excellent, and as helpful as ever.

Avoid like the plague !! Rude male receptionist at check in who watched me and a disabled child struggle with bags whilst he ignored my disabled friend waiting to check in and was more interested discussing his turtle neck and holiday in Bulgaria to the other receptionist - Rude ! Rooms were clean to be fair but had same decor from the 1980's , beds extremely uncomfortable & itchy and ended up with a very sore neck and back after not sleeping at all also the room was so hot & stuffy and a dog in a room opposite was barking all night . And doors continuously slamming . The only thing that was good was the swimming pool but there are no family changing rooms and no cubicles so privacy and dignity go out of the window . Despite having a token disability parking space this hotel is not disability friendly in the slightest , there are no lifts and you have to go up a sloped corridor to get to rooms , swimming pool and gym are also downstairs with no lift . Would not recommend to anyone unless they are an insomniac and wouldn't be sleeping anyway .

Great hotel, really spacious family room with large comfy beds. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. The pool and sauna was great at no extra cost. A little dated in areas but value for money is excellent.

Poor service, rooms are dirty, out of date, items broken in room, restaurant is awful and over priced, found hair in dinner and was told ‘ these things happen' unhelpful staff. Steer clear of this one

Me & my partner stayed here for 2nights to go to creamfields festival, long story but had a nightmare of a weekend but Morgan (night porter) & Will (bar tender) have actually made our weekend! What a pair of lovely attentive guys, couldn't do enough for us.. This hotel is privileged to have them work there, keep up the good work guys x

This is not a 4 star hotel, but with a few modifications painting and decorating it could be. The staff are second to none. The dinner food is exceptional... breakfast could improve. The cleaning staff are lovely. All in all its fine; I've put a more detailed review on Google. The potholes need fixing. Diningroom tables need replacing. The carpets need replacing in places and repaint touching up needed. All this aside, I'd stay there again.

The hotel is in an idyllic location but it really is disgustingly unclean and needs a complete overhaul. The rooms are dirty, tired looking, and smelly. Holes in the curtains, stains on the carpets, bathrooms with the caulking peeling away from the bath, not cleaned properly, I could go on and on but you get the picture. Avoid at all costs

Below par customer service. Disinterested receptionist and aggressive restaurant manager. Dinner was lovely - food was nicely cooked, lovely and hot, waiting on staff really nice and friendly. Wrongly assumed our bill would be assigned to our room but received a bolshy call from the restaurant saying we hadn't paid our restaurant bill - NOBODY had said the policy was to give card details on booking in. On another note, the pillows were very lumpy and so sleep was not too good.

Very clean welcoming hotel lovely atmosphere all staff where very helpful and professional and approachable room was clean and had everything we needed breakfast was basic but very well cooked and presented and the breakfast manger went above and beyond to make sure our parties dietary requirements where met . Looking forward to staying again .

Super nice & relaxing! Love the pool & the restaurant!! The gym is also awesome, kept really clean & tidy! Staff are also super friendly & helpful! Definitely recommend to anyone looking to have a peaceful getaway!

We stayed for 1 night on our way to North Wales, and were really surprised by the amazing location high up overlooking the Mersey. Nice walks straight from the hotel and great to be able to use a 20m swimming pool. The room service was excellent.

I booked the best western for two of my friends who were visiting the uk from New Zealand, the staff are amazing and the food was delicious, amazing views with stunning caves five minutes away.. we Will definitely be booking again. Thank you

really nice stay, yes the hotel could maybe do with a makeover in places but dont let that put you off . comfy beds, friendly staff, beautiful breakfast and great value for money. opening the curtains on the morning and finding a family or two of rabbits outside the window on the grass was a bonus. Clean , tidy and in a beautiful location for exploring chester, cheshire oaks etc.

Visited as part of a coach party of c.50. As many other reviewers have reported, the hotel is a little tired and I am sure that a refurbishment must be planned. It is perfectly clean and comfortable but if we returned to the area we wouldn't rush to return to Forest Hills. The food at dinner was entirely acceptable, if fairly ordinary. The "wow factor" claimed on the website was not easy to discern. The staff managed well to serve us all together and to keep smiling. The only exception would be the deputy general manager (I think I have got the title correct). Whilst polite it would be fair to say that, to borrow from P.G, Wodehouse, she would not be difficult to distinguish from a ray of sunshine. So satisfactory overall, but nothing special.

My wife and I stayed here whilst on a Windmil Tours coaching holidsy from Suffolk on an all inclusive deal. Our twin room was very clean and kept well presented each day. The only reason I had to talk to Reception was to ask for a second room key card; this was actioned immediately bythe young lady receptionist. But by far the highest praise must go to the bar and dining room staff. They had great personalities with a sense of humour I've experienced in the past and come to expect from folk from that area of England. They were excellent and efficient with all aspects of their duties, an opinion shared by all of us on the tour. The nourishing dinner meals were well prepared and presented. A further point was the very reasonable bar drinks prices. I know how much I pay for drinks in my Suffolk village pub which I consider to be the going rste but here a pint of Guiness was 30p less. If I'm ever up that way again this will be my place of choice to park my head. Many thanks to all at the Forest Hills.

On arrival, this hotel is in a gorgeous setting. Receptionists friendly. In entering our room it was very dated, needs a repaint. A fridge would have also been a nice touch. We had no light bulbs in any of the light fittings which we only realised when returning at night to our room. Safety hazard - and surely the cleaner should be checking these! My mother got stuck in the bathroom, the door jammed- she hadnt even locked it . imagine if this was a solo guest. Receptionist was called. V. nice lad. I would have thought a refund of some sort should have been issued considering these are all safety related issues. Plus points were we were only staying the one night. Onto breakfast, for what I would call a budget hotel it was okay. The orange juice and apple juice containers might need replacing. I did poor an apple juice and it had bits floating around in it ..... YUK. I did point this out to a member of staff of which i got an 'OK' .

Hotel room was pleasant and had nice views. The breakfast in the morning was basic but tasty. The waitress in the restaurant was extremely helpful thank you. However, the bed was extremely uncomfortable. I'd rather not sleep in a bed like that again.

Visited yesterday, disorganised, small, tired and with a monthly fee of £40 iits definately not value for money. Visited today and had to listen to the receptionist having a heated discussion on the phone with what i assume was a customer. Not good. Then told visitors are no longer allowed due to issues - no idea what that meant and she didnt explain. I will find somewhere a little more customer focused, and cheaper..

we wanted somewhere to take my mum for afternoon tea, and was recommended to the Forest Hills! woops! i wouldn't . we could only have afternoon tea between 12.00 and 14.30 (not afternoon tea), but we gave it a whirl. very disappointing I'm afraid. the sandwiches were ok, scones were dry. The lemon tart was nice, but was too sharp for my mum. we had a problem with the booking, as we had to book a week later than at first. Problems with electrics at mums home (not the fault of the hotel obviously), but my sister was told the deposit we had to pay - which was half of the bill - would be honoured the week after. When we got there we were told it wouldn't be, after some to-ing and fro-ing it was honoured. we were surprised we would have to pay so much as a deposit to be honest. would not recommend a lunchtime afternoon tea here. nice view though

We booked this stay as a little stop before attending a wedding close by. The leisure facilities are really good, but it does get busy. They do have a booking system so this helps with the pool area. Fitness equipment are the same as any high priced gym so we were impressed. There's a cardio floor with all modern machines, a floor for weights, a studio for classes and a private studio if you fancy doing your own little workout. You can book one to one classes at the leisure reception and any of the classes. Do bring your own lock for your lockers as these aren't always available. Breakfast was delicious so was dinner. Not much choice and a little pricey, but we were away so didn't mind.

Staff and service was very good , very helpful and knowledgeable. I though the gym equipment was impressive and the breakfast was really good ( although , comparing to other hotels , breakfast needs to be a bit more varied ) .

We were met at reception by a lovely man called Brian he made us feel very welcome, he was very chatty and down to earth Loveliest guy I have ever met we had a laugh with him. I would definetly come back again and recommend to other people. I will say Brian is a credit to you all lovely man

The hotel staff are very pleasant and professional. The bedroom was very comfortable and tv was very good. Breakfast was good quality and enjoyed every bit. Not happy that had to make a reservation to use the gym and pool. This is because it is used as a local gym and clearly busy. Some work going on in reception and continued first thing in the morning when I wanted a little sleep in.

We attended a family 70th birthday and live 3 hours from the hotel. The reception greeting was very friendly and we were given helpful verbal information. Our room was a standard double and was spacious and clean. we both had a good nights sleep. The bar prices were reasonable compared to home. The only let down was the swimming pool, which my husband used, the water was freezing. Also I am on a low fat diet and there was no vegetarian option on the hot buffet. We were surprised the hotel only had a 3 star rating, we felt it should have been a 4.

Attended a party at the hotel with my daughter so decided to make the most of it and book an overnight stay. Price was great for B&B, especially these days when hotels seem to have tripled prices. Met with a friendly face on reception who made us feel really welcome and checked us in easily. Bryan, thankyou, you are a real asset to the hotel and hope they know that. To be fair all the staff were lovely, we even were able to order a snack outside restaurant hours which was also fairly priced and really nice.Enjoyed a few hours in the pool, sauna and jacuzzi in the afternoon. Room was great with a fab view, comfy beds and breakfast in the morning was also lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and although the hotel is not up to todays modern decor standards, I think that also gives it part of its charm.

Stayed at the hotel as part of a Christmas party night. Overall the event was really good. However, the hotel is in great need of updating. Room was large, bathroom very dated. All carpets and tables around the hotel were very battered and bruised. This hotel is in a lovely location it's really in need of a revamp to make it great. Breakfast was ok, black pudding was like an ice hockey puck, but the rest was fairly good. Staff in general were good and helpful, just a few who it felt like they didn't want to be there.

We were invited on the private party so booked to stay over with drinking . Room was clean and well stocked with tea coffee etc. . Beds comfy and nice bathroom and hot shower. No worries with anything check in was so simple. Will stop again soon we hope. Thankyou mr Keith briscall

Stayed here as a couple on 1st Dec. Deal included bed, breakfast, two course dinner and use of the pool/jacuzzi. We thought this hotel was excellent value for money. Our room was spotlessly clean and had everything in it you could possibly need. Food was nice, don't expect heute cuisine, you can't have champagne on lemonade money! But what food we were served was lovely. The breakfast was exceptionally good with absolutely everything on offer. The staff are also friendly and helpful. The pool is great for a nice swim and the jacuzzi was set at 38 degrees which was fantastic. Overall a very pleasant stay for anyone on a low budget. Keep up the good work forrest hills, we would definitely return!

lovely hotel, serving lovely food, lovely staff, clean cutlery, clean bedroom, could do with taking a brush to the cobwebs & dusty walls but noticing those is only because i am the way i am, the room was lovely & clean but once id seen the ceiling cobwebs i couldn't unsee them :(

We stayed here whilst visiting relatives in the area. The hotel itself is a bit off "the beaten path", but it was great value for money, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and we had a double bed and 2 singles for the kids in our room which worked great, we went for a swim and in the hot tub the morning of our departure and the buffet breakfast was to a good standard.

This hotel has the friendliest and most helpful staff imaginable. Whil I agree with previous reviews that the place is in need of a refurb, it is clean and tidy- the rooms are well sized and the bed comfortable. There is a good selection of food on the menu and both the restaurant and room service are prompt. The meals I had were all hot and tasty. I would happily stay here again.

One of the BEST gyms I've ever seen in a hotel , full Technogym loads of cardio downstairs and loads of free weights and machines upstairs., the hotel itself is good and food good I originally stayed here years ago and thought it was fine then but maybe gym wasn't great well now it's more then great.

Nothing was too much for the staff, location was beautiful, room was clean and exceeded expectations. Took my chihuahua who can be quite noisy and was so impressed with noise levels in rooms and corridors (it was bonfire night and less stressful for him than at home which was just a miracle really). Room clean, bedding clean, bathroom spotless

Have been staying at the hotel for the last 18 years and got married here. Overall a lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff. The changing rooms need a full update as it all looks tired and the showers in there were cold.

Disappointed by this BestWestern Hotel, not the usual standard we have come to expect. Struggling to find it even is a 3* - Given the location it has huge potential and should be prioritised for upgrade.

Lovely big family room, some areas could benefit from some updating but it was mostly fine for our 3 night stay. Pool was nice and warm. Breakfast was good, food was hot and their was plenty of choice.

Spent two nights at this hotel, the room (room 123) was spacious and very clean, the bed was comfortable, there was a good quantity of tea, coffee and biscuits, however the bathroom was dated but again was very clean. The communal corridor carpets needed replacing, they were worn thin in some areas. The hotel is located in a wonderful location, however Best Western badly needs to spend some money on this hotel. The staff we're helpful and friendly.

This is certainly a hotel that welcomes dogs & their owners. £10 a night extra for our little furry friend was reasonable & with a welcome goody bag for Roxy an added bonus. The hotel environment in and out was pleasant. The bathroom in our room needed updating, but all in all we would certainly return having enjoyed a peaceful & well rested night. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast good. The walks around the hotel were lovely and suited our needs ever so well. The grassed areas for a last chance before bed wee (for the dog) were welcome. The provision of complimentary electric car charging (one charger on a first come first served basis) thrilled my soul and set us up well for our departure. Thanks to the team at Forest Hills - we had a lovely stay.

Great location, top of a hill, with views over (rather industrial looking) Mersey - but rather out of the town itself. Decent choice at breakfast and dinner. Hotel itself rather dated in decor (1980s with coloured bathroom suites).

Excellent hotel and facilities. Access slightly tricky. Restaurants and staff super, nothing too much trouble. Would recommend to anyone. Parking for disabled people can be awkward and cannot be reserved is a possible problem.

Hotel needs refit. Horrible odour around the place. Room very hot. The carpet was frayed and service was poor. The hotel has clearly seen better says. Have to book a time for breakfast which seems crazy. Staff too busy talking to help. Wouldn't recommend.

Very disappointed. The hotel was dated which is fine, but being dirty is not. At breakfast the tables were sticky. The pool had things floating in the water and the room had only been superficially cleaned. The shelves in the wardrobe were thick with dust. The radiator in our room was broken so could not be turned off. We asked for someone to look at it and were told that maintenance didn't work at the weekend so had to put up with the radiator despite it being august and very hot. We had emailed to ask for a cot as we have two small children. This was ignored and when we arrived were told there was not one available. Despite saying there were two children we were put in a room that was too small to accommodate a cot and when we asked for a table and chair to be taken out to make room we were told that they had no room to store a side table and a chair anywhere in the hotel so we had nowhere for our children to sleep in our boiling hot room. Generally service was poor. Breakfast was not ready in the morning. The waiter kept apologising but saying he wasn't a morning person so wasn't at his best in the morning. The following morning we went in at 7 (breakfast started at 6:30) and were told as we hadn't booked a specific time, breakfast wouldn't be until 8. Overall it was shabby, poor service, dirty and thoroughly disappointing.

Just wanted a mini break away stayed here for 1 night then onto somewhere else, all staff outstanding service, food amazing and the views was beautiful, loved the jacuzzi and swimming pool too, will definitely stay here again.

Very dated, not clean or kept. We were staying in the local area and wanted to swim as part of our 5km sponsored swim in August. The changing rooms are in extremely poor condition, no personal cubical or showers. The floor was not clean and bench's and skirting board had panels missing from them, the ceiling had holes in it and the water in the showers was moderately warm. The pool it's self was warm but small, again very dated and not staffed. We would not used these facilities again.

We stayed one one night as visiting relatives nearby. Our room was near the gym / swimming pool which we could smell. The room was quite tired with an orange bathroom suite. Around 9 p.m. there was a loud knocking noise. We phoned reception and they could hear it. By the time the receptionist got to our room it had stopped. I expressed my concern it would start again in the night. Sure enough at 4.45 it started again. Not a good night's sleep. I did complain on checkout, and was told they would inform maintenance. The room was hot, despite having a fan, but no air conditioning.

Visited as a couple room was fine is a little dated especially the bathroom but shower was powerful and had everything we needed . Also nice view from the room . We really enjoyed using the pool facilities you had to book to use them but is a nice bonus considering the price we paid . Didn't eat at hotel we just went into Frodsham instead . Did have a drink at the bar £4 for a coke was expensive I thought . Would visit again

Paid for breakfast on arrival, yet got asked to pay every morning, got very annoying and embarrassing as other guest were nearby. No apology given. Rooms need an upgrade, restaurant needs an upgrade, food was ok

One mess up after another. Receptionist looked as though couldn't be bothered .manager wasn't about ehrn said he was . It was a last minute treat for my birthday and as it was less than an hour from home and we had stayed before I thought why not ,big mistake .we turned up at 2pm on day specified in booking we were given option of 2 rooms . So we booked in the suite we liked and took cases to our room ,then went for a drink In the bar he starts the problems my beer tasted like soap replaced drink tasted same so got a different drink waiter went to let manager know ,manager was not on site .so we went back to room to use the jacuzzi bath that we had paid extra for(it was not a jacuzzi it was an air bath there is a difference ) and there was no hot.so got dressed and went down to reception to ask problem receptionist said it had been off all morning something wrong with boiler asked why were not told this when booking in receptionist replied didn't thinknit was a problem and will be back on when plumber arrives I said that's not good enough is manager here she replied he's not on site .so we tried to make a positive out of situation we went to use spa facilities the receptionist their said can only use pool and gym as something wrong with sauna and steam room .I asked if this was to do with hotel boiler he replied they not told us anything .it was 5pm before we got hot water in our room and only lukewarm at that again spoke to receptionist who was off to say least reported all this to their head office to which they said they to all guests at lunch (we arrived at 2pm ) and that manager was there whole time which he wasn't there no compensation offered at anytime .the following morning went to pool sauna still out of use were lots of tiles missing off walls near changing rooms and in pool itself with sharp edges exposed . So a very poor experience all round wouldn't recommend going unless Spa facilities have an update and hotel staff learn not to lie to customers as I told them at ti.e if ide know before I booked in I would of gone elsewhere

Had a nice time people were very friendly and helpful the views from the hotel were delightful the rooms were nice and clean and tidy coffee and tea was always available every day beds were made every other day yes I enjoyed my stay and a nice pool to swim in after a day of work also there was a girl Cerys manager/waitress she was very pleasant had a lovely smile that lifted your your heart and was so efficient in what job she had to do was well impressed so thank you Cerys

We have stayed at this hotel about 5 times in the last 12 months. We have always found it to be very clean and well organised. We always book an executive room as we like the extra space but were in an ordinary twin the first time as it was the only room available and it was fine,with a great view over the countryside. We have never had dinner in the hotel as we always go out into Frodsham but breakfast is generally good as long as chef keeps his eye on the hot food to ensure it stays hot. It can be a bit hit and miss in this area. It is a long walk into Frodsham from the hotel particularly if you have to walk back because it is uphill but there is a taxi rank on the main street. By car it is just a few minutes. There is a huge free car park at the hotel so no problems with parking. One of the greatest strengths of this hotel is the young staff in the dining room. Our experience of them has always been very positive as they are cheerful and friendly and always looking to help. Only disappointment here is being unable to order newspapers to be delivered to our room. That is always a treat for us when staying in a hotel, to read with a first cup of tea before breakfast. However, this is a good reliable hotel if you want to stay in the Frodsham area.

A gem of a hotel on the top of Frodsham hill with fantastic views, staff and welcoming accommodation. Comfortable rooms, great food, and easy access to walking trails and local villages. Lovely pool for a swim before breakfast too!

My Partner is gluten and lactose intolerant we informed the hotel prior to arrival and again on arrival. The hotel provided lactose free milk and gluten free bread for her. And we had a set menu but the kitchen staff/chefs ensured that Vals meal met her dietry requirments.

We stayed for a one night break.on a dinner bed and breakfast basis staff were very helpful and the food was of a good standard with lots of choice .spa was very nice.Hotel is a little dated could do with a little TLC.

I stayed here for 3 nights whilst my husband was working in the area. Beautiful views from the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool, sauna etc good. Lovely walk down into the town. Lots of cafes and pubs in the area with friendly staff. Taxis in the town if you don't want to walk back up to the hotel! Trains available to Liverpool and Chester. Lovely area... Will plan better next year and go out on the train!

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding at a close by venue. The location was perfect, easy to get a taxi to/from, nice walks and a lovely view. The hotel itself if quite dated and tired looking, but our room was clean and suitable for our needs. The staff were lovely and welcoming. We had breakfast both mornings and this was also good, lots of selection, hot and refilled as required. Overall, a nice break away and not bad value for money. The room was very hot all night, even with the windows open and there was no option to turn the radiator down. Although, this is better than being cold. Would book again if visiting the area and hopefully next time we would have time to use the leisure facilities.

Stayed two nights. Room clean, except for net curtains ~ stained and dirty. One main curtain fell down when we closed it. The cleaner said it was always doing that> Bathroom old fashioned. Shower curtain didn't keep water inside the bath. Floor flooded when showering. Shower head would not stay up. Fitting bad. Wooden Furniture marked and old fashioned . Waiters and waitresses not very efficient at breakfast. Food in hot servery not topped up regularly enough. Staff polite. Advertises snooker room, but no snooker. This room is used for weddings. Not a good impression when walking through main door to be met with taped up threadbare carpet. Very tired hotel. Main doors not automatic so everyone touching handles all day long.

Visited family in frodsham and stayed over at the hotel again. Check in could have better, management should encourage a better check in. Our room was comfortable with all facilities working well and well stocked with coffee tea etc which was stocked up each day. Wet room was well stocked also and towels changed each day. Breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended

This is the second time now my daughter has commented about the treatment by a staff member of forest hills. It seems a reception staff member by the name of lyndsey has seemingly continuously ( i say this as this is not the first time ) been rude to her, questioning her membership and making her feel uncomfortable, made to feel intimated and not very welcome despite paying a monthly fee to use these facilities! , We have noticed a pattern with other friends (we are all local residents) upon attending this seems is obviously not a isolated incident, These certain member of staff either need more training with regards to customer service and professionalism or simply find another job as this behaviour will not continuously be deemed as acceptable , and they will unfortunately end up losing memeber due to this behaviour, which is a shame as overall it's a great place to relax that is being sadly let down for all to see

The beds were hard with old sprung bases The bathroom was disgraceful with brown water coming from the bath tap also the shower head and as a consequence, myself and friend were unable to get a shower. The side of the bath was part sealed with silicone in an amateurish fashion bodge it and make do, the bathroom mirror was rusty and chipped, several of the tiles had a chunk missing and were cracked and there was a rusty soap dish attached to the wall above the bath. The breakfast's were not value for the money @ £12.50 each and the food was of poor quality! At checkout I was presented with a bill for an additional £100 for 8 breakfasts it is not possible for 2 people to have 8 breakfasts in two days this was rectified without an apology. So all in all……..Terrible

There is a lady at reception who loves picking a fight with customers and make their stay as unpleasant as possible. The decor is very dated and you can see that little or no money is spent on upkeeping. My partner is a member at the leisure club and has been pulled over to check whether he had a membership. First of all, they should not allow him to book, secondly they should be able to check. Also, every time we visit it is either the sauna or steam or jacuzzi not working. It is a shame, as it is a great location, but very bad management. It seems like Lyndsey thinks she runs the place and she needs to be fired before she drives all customers away!

We really enjoyed our visit to Forest Hills Hotel. Lovely area with pleasant walks round wooded park. The staff were all very friendly and the food was excellent. We will definitely stay there again when visiting relatives

A lovely hotel, family room was spacious and comfy if a little neglected ie broken wardrobe door, worn patches on chair etc. Staff were friendly and welcoming, leisure area clean and quiet. Had our dog with us and there is a great wooded area behind hotel to walk him. Good selection at breakfast although we didn't eat the hot food so cannot comment on this. I would recommend this hotel however if you value your peace avoid room 122 if there is a function on. A door to the function room is directly opposite and this door was not closed properly until 11pm so full on loud thumping music until this time. Best western could do with improving a few things for online booking - there is no selection to add a dog which is something the hotel needed to know prior to arrival.

Went swimming in Hotel pool and spent evening at Special dinner and wine evening. Staff were very attentive and food and wine was excellent. Staff on reception very friendly and helpful.. Breakfast in the morning had plenty of variety and was very good.

Staff need customer service training, some where great, like the lady you book the pool with and the long haired barman. Unfortunately some staff were just rude and not ready to serve the public. Limited bar and outdoor area seating to which is a shame as the view is good. Food was basic, with limited choice, especially vegetarian/vegan. Menu seemed dated. Decor is old fashioned, but room was clean. I liked the pool, however the changing area was basic, with limited resources. Wouldn't return as this hotel needs great staff to make up for the out if date venue and it just doesn't have enough great staff to make a difference, it does seem to have lots of staff though. To those staff that showed kindness, thank you.

The staff at this hotel are very friendly particularly Elaine on reception and the gentleman on evening reception who is very friendly and helpful. Also the mature lady on breakfast is very helpful. Breakfast is excellent

We stayed Sunday night for a little break and it did us the world of good . The car park has plenty of space. Checking in was quick and easy . The room was a good size, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was included in the price and was excellent vfm ! We had a swim in the pool and went in the jacuzzi , unfortunately the sauna and steam room were closed during our visit . We went for a short walk to the war memorial and the view was amazing , you can see Liverpool quite clearly . We have been here before , will probably come again and would recommend .

Reasonably priced stay, spacious room with 3 beds for the family and a nice location. Unfortunately the spa / swimming facilities were dreadful. The pool itself didn't look the cleanest, sauna was out of action, one of the pool ladders was taped off, and the floors were just filthy. I mean genuinely filthy. The mens changing area was sopping wet, had a liberal coating of what I hope was sock fluff on the floor and probably hadn't seen a mop in the last 24 hours. Deeply ingrained dirt in all corners and a false ceiling that was stained, loose and broken. I'm told the female changing areas didn't fare any better. I understand the last few years have been especially tough for the hotel industry but that was nothing more than neglect - I pity those who pay monthly to use the gym facilities if that's what they get for their money.

Yes, it's true this is a hotel of the past...decor wise. Pink baths etc However there was absolutely nothing wrong with what they were offering it's just that the world has moved on in its interior decor expectations. My heart lies with little gems like these that offer good friendly unpretentious service at excellent value for money. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I was visiting my cousin prior to attending a family funeral. I was checking out on Tues 12 April after one night and decided to see if I could stay on (Room 110) for a night just in case I wasn't subsequently up to the six hour car journey home. Reception were a bit confused but an excellent member of staff intervened and was extremely helpful. She was also evident around breakfast, so may have been a duty manager. I latterly told her I probably wouldn't now be saying and she was very understanding especially as I explained the context of my visit. I will stay there again primarily because of how wonderful her customer service was. Cleaning and room attendants were also very friendly but she went the extra mile!

Wanted a treat for my wife's birthday and the promise of a bottle of prosecco pictured in a lovely double room by Wowcher tempted me to book a couple of nights away. On arrival we were given our room key by a receptionist with a telephone to her ear dealing with someone else. After a long trek to the room we were astonished to find she had given us a room with two single beds so we obviously thought that she had made a mistake snd returned to reception. When we got there we were told that there was no double room available which was very disappointing to learn and certainly not the treat we were looking forward to. We decided to return home and I certainty wont be booking through Wowcher again.

Myself and a friend had a twin room with the best view! Staff were helpful and polite, pool was fine and breakfast was good value for money. It was worth the money we paid and i will 100% stay here again, it was everything we wanted and needed from a hotel. The bathroom was abit 90's but it was clean and done the job. Cant fault the place.

I love this hotel, which is why I returned to it when I needed a short break recently. It has everything one needs in a break - not too expensive, spacious and comfortable rooms/beds/bathrooms with lovely views, the great pool, good bar and restaurant service, lovely walks right beside the hotel, good internet connection and most important of all, friendly, smiling and ever-helpful staff. Thoroughly recommended.

Clean rooms, good service ,helpful friendly staff and good food a d I am a fussy eater . only possible gripe is drinks a little over priced and no robes in room £5 charge to hire one to use in attached spa facilities . Views from grounds are breathe taking .

Stayed overnight. Found the hotel very much as expected after reading the reviews. The big disappointment was the breakfast, very greasy bacon, eggs and rock hard hash browns. We had given a time for breakfast so no excuse for it not to be fresher. The only saving grace was the nice lady in a black uniform who made us a pot of tea and fresh toast. (we had not been offered this when we arrived for breakfast) Not good enough for a 3 star hotel.

This hotel seems to be set in a bit of a time warp. Around the 1980's I think. Firstly, I must say that it is clean and will give them 5 out of 5 here - with covid, that is obviously very important. My room was some distance from reception. Down some stairs (always a basement worry) and along a couple of corridors. The room itself was hot, damn hot. The radiator was chucking out heat and the thermostat didn't control it. As a result I spent a March night with the window wide open and the fan provided in the room running all night. This made the temperature bearable. The ‘peach' coloured bathroom was dated but the bed was quite comfortable. The view from the window was a brick wall and a roof - not inspiring at all. Evening meal wasn't bad, fast service at a good price. Tables were horribly ‘sticky' - they don't need a clean, they need rubbing down properly and re-varnishing. Breakfast was good - cold coffee was a little disappointing. In the end staff boiled a kettle to make more. Overall I have to say disappointing, I won't rush back.

A really pleasant stay, would definitely recommend! Would have been a 5* but the pool was closed early - meaning we didn't get to try it out which we were looking forward to :( Really reasonably priced, comfy, clean, spacious rooms & a nice breakfast - what more could you want? Staff were also super nice too, always a bonus. We only stayed for 1 night but would definitely return if in the area

Noisy substation opposite the window .no internet probably because we were so far away from reception bathroom shower head would not stay in position and tap's not working properly . View from windows were a substation brick wall and the other overlooked car park and an unsightly track

We are more than happy with our 2 night stay at the hotel. Every member of staff is helpful, pleasant and approachable. Nothing was to much trouble. Although our dog, understandably cannot go into the restaurant, we were able to eat breakfast (altogether .4 adults, 2 children and the dog) in the lounge area and although it was really busy service the staff ensured we had everything we needed, to hand and hot (were necessary) The triple rooms were amazing, the beds were large and comfortable, the whole family weekend was perfect and we only have the hotel to thank

Stayed here for 5 nights whilst visiting family in the area. Our booking was quickly acknowledged and our check in was very easy and smooth with all facilities explained by the staff. Our room was comfy even though our stay was during Storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin. We were room only and had breakfast a couple of days but be aware it gets very busy for breakfast during the weekends and early booking is recommended. Our room was serviced and cleaned thoroughly every day. If you're going to stay in the area this is the first hotel to consider.

Visible mould in room 202 bathroom. I wouldn't mind a 1970's pink bathroom if it was clean and well kept, but it had visible rust and mould throughout. Curtains looked grubby and smelt musty. Pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. Mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. Lack of information prior to check in on extra services (massages etc not really available, they just give you a flyer for a local mobile therapist). Was made to book in breakfast at 8:30am on our first morning, as breakfast shuts at 9:30 on a weekend - far too early. Went to book breakfast for our second day early afternoon and were greeted by a very rude member of staff (male, dyed blonde hair, late 40's), told that we would have to go at 8:30 again because we had left it so late?! Used the pool and 'spa' facilities at this restaurant, asked for complimentary towels to be told 'well you'll have to give me your room key, 'coz people keep robbing the towels' which filled me with confidence leaving my possessions in an unlockable locker (was not informed prior to check in that I would need to bring a padlock). The entire pool/'spa' area and changing rooms are very dated and feels like using a 1970's public pool. Hairdryer was an incredibly poor quality (basically didn't work). cut out after 2 mins, tried in 3 plug sockets and no joy, went down to reception to be treated like an imbecile by the same blond staff member who shot daggers at me when I asked for a replacement. All staff behaved quite strangely for the entire stay. The evening meal food taste and quality was fantastic, both nights. We had steak, sea bass and burgers (and one onion ring each). Charged £3.50 for 2 onion rings as a 'side order'. Lager on the first night tasted a bit eggy so we asked for it to be topped off with lemonade, this was snatched away, brought back, slammed on the table and demanded we tested it. We have both worked in the service industry for a combined 30+ years so knew it was just a line change issue. This was proven when we came for breakfast the next morning and saw the lines being cleaned. (lovely smell with your coffee!) Evening atmosphere was dull and was given the impression staff wanted rid of us so they could set up for the next day (at 9pm). Breakfast was a disappointment. While the actual cooked breakfast items were well cooked and a good quality, the ‘continental' options consisted of cereal, limp looking fruit, a couple of bits of cheese and 4 croissants that had been there since the bathrooms were installed. Comparing with other similar priced hotels, for example premier inn, has a fantastic range for breakfast and is consistently good whichever one you visit. Breakfast is usually one of my favourite parts of a hotel stay and this was disappointing. I shouldn't have to report multiple problems in one visit. I don't like to complain and I do not want to become a nuisance to staff. Speaking to other guests, it became clear there was a difference in room quality. In 202, pillows and beds had obviously been slept on by hundreds of people before me. Towels were rough. Kettle was dirty. Staff generally seemed to lack basic manners. Was made to feel that it was my fault if I mentioned something being wrong. Although the colour of the furnishings, fixtures and fittings doesn't really matter, it does matter that they are clean and well maintained. We had low expectations of this stay as it was a last minute Friday night decision, and unfortunately they were met. I will say the view from the room is fantastic though. Which was fortunate as I got no sleep from the cr p beds, so at least had something to look at when I was awake for most of the night.

Stayed here 1 night lovely staff throughout the hotel. Beds so comfy. Enjoyed my morning swim followed by an excellent breakfast definitely will return to this hotel stunning view from the restaurant.

Excellent customer service. However facilities could do with modernization and broadband was poor. Breakfast was comparable to a £4 weatherspoon breakfast definitely not a £10 breakfast. Hotel was very clean and tidy

I took my mum and daughter for a night to celebrate Mum's 80th birthday and we came away having had a lovely time. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated and threadbare in places but it was clean and the staff were pleasent and helpful. Lovely food in the restaurant, not too big a choice and nicely presented. Breakfast was ample with hot and cold options as well as specials to order. Nice size pool and jacuzzi that were old but clean and nice to see being used by a few people. Great location with lovely views over the Mersey estuary and a trip down memory lane for mum as she remembered the famous helter skelter ! We are already planning a return visit !

I had a lovely stay at the Forest Hills. Some areas do need updating but I found it to be clean and welcoming which was really important. My room had a balcony (as I'd requested) - an added bonus as it was such a wonderful view over the estuary and beyond. I could even see the airplanes coming into land. I had booked on a bed and breakfast basis - there was lots of choice, cold and hot which included toast with condiments. Staff were always on hand to help you if needed. I did go for a swim on my first day and the pool is rather tiny (it felt even tinier with a bunch of toddlers and a guy swimming front crawl! - not a good stroke to choose...) but it was nice to meet some other people and have a laugh. The changing rooms are all open plan bar one curtained corner so I was glad I took my own towel in order to wrap around my waist and go back to the room to shower and change. The area is simply stunning. Wonderful walks and lots of nice countryside. I also ventured into Frodsham and had a look around - it's a lovely town with everything you need. Check out Lusso Hair and Beauty if you want a treatment - I had a facial and came out feeling fab! I travelled as a birthday treat and I certainly have no regrets choosing Frodsham or the Forest Hills Hotel.

Lovely friendly staff. Rooms clean and fit for purpose. Dog friendly which is good for us. Stay included use of leisure facilities. Booked as an overnight surprise birthday treat. Some really nice walks straight out of the hotel as well. Would recommend to anyone

Was pleased that our executive room lived up to expectations, as it looked just as it did in the promotion pictures. It was spacious, clean & comfortable. Facilities in the room included a trouser press, iron and ironing board, fridge, good sized TV and a very nice bathroom that had both bath and separate shower cubicle. The jacuzzi bath was fantastic, which may be as well as the spa was a little bit shabby in places with tiles missing and the crevices around the grab rails etc. could do with seeing a scrubbing brush. Such a shame , as a little attention to detail and a bit of maintenance here and there it could be fabulous. The reception on arrival was amazing and the guy was really friendly and helpful and the food was of a high standard and at great value for money. I also had a lovely bouquet of flowers in my room on arrival, apparently an extra you can arrange via the in house florist ( who is highly recommended by me). All in all a really enjoyable stay with lovely staff, room etc. Pitty about the spa area, it could be so much better with just a little attention.

Location is great, lovely views, staff excellent on all levels. Clean, comfortable and warm. Bathroom suites do look very dated but fine for a 3* hotel. My only complaint, more a recommendation is that there is not a great range of vegetarian food on the menu. In fact there is no veggy food on the restaurant menu at all, (Gran pedano is not veggy and very rarely is pesto, sorry.) there are plenty of places nearby to eat and I believe the hotel is missing a trick not supplying a good veggy range. Saying that I got veggy sausages for breakfast, top marks for breakfast! Also balconies a bit slippy, but lots of trees about so not a surprise. I will definitely return, dogs enjoyed the surrounding fields and forests.

We had my Mum's 85th Birthday organised for March 20, unfortunately Covid took over and the amazing team at Forest Hills postponed our party till Jan 22, we had the most amazing weekend. From the welcome, food, attention to detail and our departure, everything was just spot on. Special mentions to Jess in reception and Nathan on the Bar who kept us well lubricated long after his shift finished, Tom the DM, Elaine and her wonderful team for Dinner Service and Alex for our Breakfast Service. We have had the most amazing weekend. Highly recommended 5✨

We recently held a family party for 30 in the Delamere Suite and could not have been more grateful or impressed for the quality of service that we received from the whole team who, due to the omicron variant, we're operating short staffed. Their flexibility and desire to ensure that we had the most special experience possible was exemplary. Within our party we had a number who work in the hospitality/conference fields and so our expectations were possibly disproportionately high, although we did have an understanding of the challenges faced. In terms of value for money, we were very impressed, particularly with the catering. The quality of food, its presentation and service was all of high quality and, when you then considered that it was prepared by a reduced team of just the chef and an assistant, was outstanding. We hope to have another family gathering in three years time and The Forest Hills will be our first port of call.

The pics on the other reviews bear no resemblance to the room or experience we had. The room was extremely dated, with a 1980s bathroom and carpets that looked like they had been there just as long. The sink had chips in the porcelain that was filled with dark ( dirty ) circles. The staff are fine, but the room we were given was a dump. To cap it all off, we had guests with dogs either side of us...whimpering all night. We did mention this to the front desk and they were fully aware. Just so people realise what you see in some of the other reviews is not always what you get.

Food and service very poor quality. Check in was difficult and ignored by girl at reception for quite a while. Hot Breakfast not available even though we were 30 mins after the start of service,and dinner was of poor quality as was the service.

The staff at the hotel couldn't have done more to help, I had made an error with our booking but they were exceptionally helpful to ensure our stay went as planned even though they were clearly run off their feet! Our room was very comfortable and quiet, although the decor was a little dated. The location was fantastic and I'm sure it has lovely views but we couldn't make the most of that due to the weather! We would be very happy to return in the future!

First impressions are so important especially the front of house staff imo. I am at a loss how some people are put in certain positions. But whoever decided it was a good idea to put the blonde haired young girl on reception on Sat 4th & Sun 5th really needs to take a look at themselves. No welcome, No warmth , No charm Zero personality. Not a great start to a stay. However my main beef was that in the early hours of Sunday the fire alarm disrupted our sleep on 3 occasions at 1am 1.30am + 6 am. This has nothing to do with her i do understand that but when i enquired as to why is was going off and disrupting me and my young familys sleep she just shrugged her shoulders and said it was nothing to do with her as she wasnt working. She said she was not on shift at the time which i fully understand but she obvioulsy felt that was sufficient justification to completely absolve herself of responding on behalf of the hotel to a pretty big legitimate question!!!! She is supposed to be there representative and my point of contact . No apology on behalf of the hotel, No concern for me or my young familys sleep. No offer at all to find out and get back to me . Her rude and dismissive manner was not a surprise and i felt stupid for even asking. Do these companies not train their staff properly. Anyway to the rest of the staff. Lady cleaning near my room. Lovely and helpful Big tall guy on Sunday breakfast - You were brilliant even though you did forget our toast lol. Very very friendly attitude you can just tell a good one. Leisure club and pool - Perfect for our trip. We enjoyed this area Room - Bit dated style wise but very clean , large and comfortable.

Absolutely gutted with the blonde front desk lady who where there in 27/11/2021 about 15:00. She was absolutely xenophobic and rude. We didn't go back because we were with two little girls who were very tired. This lady couldn't look me in the eyes when I start speaking and she realized than I'm not English. She was rude and looked at us "from the top" of her arrogance. Gave us wrong keys for the rooms and was sarcastic when we went back to tell that the cards weren't working. She also says: If you don't like the hotel don't come again!" (...) I would say that she missed school and probably did not have a proper education at home. Always sarcastic and rude. Swimming pool: ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! Tiles missing in the pool floor. You will cut yourself! By the way. Be careful. The swimming pool had no life guard, no equipment to use in case of drowning, nothing. Your are by yourself. By law they must have someone vigilant at the pool but they don't.(I'm probably instigating an court order against them...) Jacuzzi: If you don't mind the "brown grease water"... Changing rooms and toilets: I've seen better in remote places of this planet. I was peeing in the urinol till I found out that the pipe were broken and my urine were going to the floor... The cubicles were dirty. I've seen better in jails... Rooms: Dirty! Restaurant: Just don't do it to yourself...

The hotel is located out of town and up a very steep hill (30 minutes to walk down and 45 minutes to walk up). It costs around £6 each way in a taxi to reach it from Frodsham train station. There are 2 very professional but efficient receptionists who seem to be on duty all the time. A smiley young lady and an older dapper gent. The rooms are currently being refurbished so you can stay in a standard room set in the 1990s (like the rest of the hotel) or in a modern executive room which is about £50 more. The 1990s is seen throughout the rest of the hotel, but it is immaculately clean - even the communal areas. The only good thing about the 1990s was the baths were bigger than nowadays, and although pink bathrooms are a bit of a through back, lying in a big bath is really enjoyable. The room has really comfy beds and crisp white linen which is modern in design, there is a big TV and tea/coffee/kettle etc. No noise can be heard from other rooms. When you leave in the morning you see the staff working really hard to make everything ultra clean, which is essential in the pandemic era. The bar/dinning room is a funny shape and there are a few chairs near the bar and the rest is a dinning room. The staff here are excellent. There are two managers that alternate but they are very accommodating and chatty. They run a brilliant team of young staff who work their socks off. They are about 16 - 18, but they clean and clear, serve and speak maturely and they are all so polite. Such a credit to the hotel. They do cater for dietary requirements but if you let them know well in advance, they will get in things for you. They had turkey bacon and gluten free chicken sausages bought in just for me. The only real downside to this hotel is the pool area. It is a bit scruffy and the changing rooms do not have locks on their lockers - they really should state that you will need to bring your own padlock. The steam room hasn't worked in months but the sauna, jacuzzi and pool are available and some of the gym equipment you have to pay to use. But plenty of clean towels available and the shower curtains are changed daily so it is still very clean. The pool is wonderfully warm and the jacuzzi is bathwater hot so it really is enjoyable. They seem to do well with repeat business and community use. I am now a regular here

How this place defines itself as a 3 star hotel is a mystery! The hotel is desperately in need of refurb. Carpet old and smelly and mouldy. Curtains falling off in bedrooms, bathrooms full of mould and toilets that are in worse state than public toilets. I know it is a Best Western and by default of extreme poor standard. However this hotel is shockingly bad. The beds and pillows are most uncomfortable ( really hard) and all other guests said same thing. Most of the other guests I met stated the same thing about the hotel. The staff are OK. Some are genuinely nice and try their best to make things acceptable. Others have given up and would rather ignore you. I can't blame them. Restaurant seems to be staffed mainly by 15-16 year olds to save on wages. Great bunch of kids who are not too sure what they are doing or have had no training at all. Although the hotel is absolutely appalling there is a positive. The food is quite nice and great portion size. Drinks are expensive but on par with any other hotels. The best bit about the hotel is when you check out and make your way home to your own bed!

All in all this was a lovely 1 night stay especially for the price of £94. Initially in the entrance the decor seems a little dated and I was a little hesitant. However our room was very clean, basic functioning amenities. The bathoom was gleaming white (clean grouting is a must for me!) and the stay was comfortable A few interrupted bangs from neighbouring room doors in the night, soft close doors might be a bonus ! But otherwise very happy with our stay

Excellent value for money in our executive room, the staff were flexible,caring and went the extra mile in customer service. Reception was always available , professional and my bill was spot on, excellent The house keeping team were attentive to our needs without a fuss. The management should be proud of their team, thank you. We will be back.

Me and my friends regularly stay at this location. Just far enough away from Liverpool to justify staying and close enough to travel back the next day. The staff are a pleasure, nothing is too much trouble. The pool, steam room and jacuzi are great additions. I regularly stay in the suite and the room is perfect. Big, lots of room, lots of places to sit with your friends. The bathroom is fantastic too. Taxi services are prompt taking you to a few local, great bars. Cannot recommend enough, and will be back very soon.

The location was great, restaurant and bar staff were friendly but one person at reception was not but overall a very nice stay. Food was very nice- restaurant and breakfast. Easy access to attractions

I was apprehensive after reading complaints in some reviews but wondered why there had been such negativity after my own stay. Yes, some refurbishment is needed, but the hotel is clean, comfortable and staffed with friendly, helpful people. I needed no more.

Stayed two nights here as my brother was getting married and it was such a beautiful setting with amazing staff, who went the extra mile to make my brother's wedding absolutely perfect. The food was amazing and the pool and jacuzzi were lovely and warm. Anyone staying at this hotel should visit the monument nearby as the views are breathtaking. Thanks again to all the lovely staff throughout the hotel, you're the best!

Stayed here while down visiting family in the next village. It was a pleasure staying at this hotel. From the reception staff to restaurant staff everyone were just so attentive. Would definitely stay again..

Five star service -the staff at this hotel are wonderful. From reception, to the bar staff, the restaurant, the leisure facilities - nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very welcome. Even ex staff we met told us to enjoy our stay. Hotel has plenty of parking, it's a lovely setting, fantastic breakfast, the pool is great, plus the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi will ensure you have a great stay. It's also great for dogs! My dog said she especially likes the breakfast sausages!! The room - beds are really comfy. Unfortunately the bathroom reminded me of my nan's house from the 1980s and toilet flush was not great but this is not a deal breaker and I highly recommend this hotel to you.

Very quiet location, we stay here regularly 3-4 times annually as our daughter and grandchildren live nearby in Frodsham. We always book to use pool and spa bath each morning of our stay as the spa bath helps hubby's arthritic joints. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. Down side is that internet is very slow or not working at all.

Stayed for one night as at Oulton Park. Only issues were no beside lighting operational and the internet was not working at check-out therefore no receipts. This was sent by email once I had reminded them. All in all a decent stay.

Warmly welcomed on arrival and quickly checked in. Our room was serviced each day of our stay although the room information pack stated it wouldn't be. The beds were a wee bit lumpy and the pillows a bit hard. All the staff were excellent and a credit to the hotel. All staff were wearing masks and regularly sanitizing although the majority of guests were not wearing masks

The hotel is situated within lovely peaceful grounds on top of the hill. Very quiet location. We had a room with a balcony. The room was good value for money but overall the staff at the hotel were so warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them from the receptionist to the bar and restaurant staff. This hotel is in a lovely quiet location with exceptional staff which makes all the difference. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Chose this hotel because it was a Best Western. Proved to be a mistake. Doesn't live up to the Best Western hotels we have stayed in previously. Restaurant experience on first night was poor. Apart from Breakfast did not use it again.

Hotel looks tired, drive in urgent need of repair and the quality of the mattress in our room was poor. Both my partner and I didn't sleep at all. We ended up leaving early as we both couldn't bear the thought of having to sleep another night

Best Western really need to visit this hotel and either make it ship up or sail out from Best Western chain. Tired decoration. Doubtful if the disabled access room meets current standards toilet was cramped in corner although there was a walk in shower. There was a block of wood under double bed and bed moved 4 inches when you sat on it. Very dangerous could cause fall or other injury.. Carpet in corridor threadbare almost in holes in places along corridor. Restaurant food hit-and-miss. Dined in first night, the sea bass dish was OK but the garlic chicken dish was inedible and had to be sent back. Having waited over 40minsfor food this was very disappointing.. Desserts were OK. Didn't use restaurant after that except for breakfast. First morning it was very good. Second morning food had been out too long, resulting rubber eggs. Bacon had a bad taste to it also. Sausages very good though. It is the worst hotel under the Best Western banner that we have stayed in. Been many times to other hotels under Best Western banner and it is usually good accommodation with excellent food. Very very disappointing.

We booked this hotel as an overnight stay as we were taking the little one to Chester zoo and blue planet aquarium and it looked quite nice on the website being a "spa hotel".. I always do my homework on reviews but unfortunately as our last stay at a best western was really quite good I didn't bother this time.. BIG MISTAKE. We arrived and the man on reception made it obvious that us checking in was way too much of an effort and was not friendly at all considering we had an excited 6 year old with us that was saying hello to him and eager to chat but he was not interested in the slightest. We booked a family room which was on the ground floor and I have to say it was really spacious as you will see from attached pictures but that's the only good point really. Firstly, being a bathroom designer myself, I thought coral/pink bathroom suites died in the 80s but not in this hotel. Very dated with rusty radiator pipes, scratched and damaged bath panels and a toilet seat that clean fell off when our 6 year old sat on it. (Images also attached). The TV in our room didn't work so on our way out to eat we mentioned it to the man on reception, I was told that there was no maintenance and he couldn't leave the desk so if someone was free he would send them to look at it. (The TV was working when we got back and I found out at breakfast the next morning it was a lovely man that had fixed it when we gave our room number and he asked if it was all working OK when we got back) The room was uncomfortably hot despite the weather outside being quite cool. The mattresses on the beds were smaller than the bases of the bed and it was covered up badly by base covers. One of the pillowcases was stained and there was quite a few marks on the duvet covers. Breakfast was OK considering it was free as part of our package. The staff in the breakfast room were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. My partner and daughter used the spa facilities on the morning we were leaving and although she really enjoyed herself as she loves swimming, the quality of the pool was not great and there was a residue on the bottom of the pool that made it feel unclean. We paid just short of £80 for the night in a family room and unfortunately that price is just way too high for a hotel that is realistically more like a 2 star hotel. We will definitely be visiting chester again, but we would rather pay double the price to stay in a nice hotel than stay here again.

Been here since Tuesday night - checking out Friday morning. Family room with 2 adults and 3 kids and also a twin room for my mum and aunty and dog, the rooms haven't been cleaned, bin emptied or any new towels in either rooms. The sofa bed in our room is also broken with the leg snapped off. We were not told the rooms won't be serviced but still paid full price?! Just went down to reception and asked for new towels, bin liner and for the tea tray to be restocked - I was handed four mugs all of which are tea stained and lipstick marks on the outside! When I asked I was told ‘nobody wants to work at hotels'. Then do a table with clean towels, bin liners and mugs/tea on so people can go help themselves? Really disappointing and I will be making a formal complaint on checking out tomorrow morning.

Stay here 4 nights per week, not great value for money but location is good with a golf course and forest walks in very close proximity. Nice village with all amenities a short walk down a steep hill.

Friendly staff and attentive...Family friendly! Decor is very very outdated but hotel Is relatively clean and very tidy. Pool area is fab Location is far out from Chester around 25mins but lovely view from location and can't fault it for the cost £140 for 2 nights

we enjoyed our stay at the forest hills hotel. despite the national problem of understaffing they did their upmost to keep us served. the staff were very friendly and cheerful and kept going despite the odds against them. food was good, rooms were large and roomy. we would defo recommend this hotel

Three families stayed for two nights with children and grandchildren. Asked for rooms to be close together which was done, 3 rooms in total. Friendly welcome at reception. Two of the rooms were not initially ready on arrival, these were the family rooms. The family rooms were very spacious containing, double bed, two singles and settee. Also small fridge. Usual tea and coffee facilities. Nice sized en-suites with shower over bath and toiletries in each room. All the rooms were warm and had fans. Friendly restaurant and bar staff who do their best to accommodate all needs. Decent menu with varied selection, some nice views from restaurant. Good choices at breakfast. Reasonable pool where you can pre book times. Steam room and sauna and gym. WiFi is good in most areas. Ample free parking. The nearby village of Frodsham has pubs and shops. Worth a return visit.

I needed 2 days "me time" away, and this was perfect choice. I booked spa massage - you need to phone hotel in advance, to book - can't do it on the day, as outside company provides. All very easy to arrange by phone. Gym great. Pool smallish, don't expect to do 25m laps, but clean & refreshing for a dip. Restaurant/bar easy-going, food great. They have 2 menus - Bar & Restaurant - different. On second night only gave me one menu, but I asked for the other. Rooms not spacious, but sufficient. Immaculate, although a bit aged. Location very peaceful - top of a hill, surrounded by trees & greenery. Car park steep up to hotel, if can't get space near entrance. OK for me, but only 2 Blue Badge spaces near door, so might be a problem for some elderly to get up hill. I loved it

Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary and we had such a lovely time. The views from the hotel was lovely and The hotel was clean and well presented and the staff were nice and friendly. The food at the bar and the breakfast was really nice. We will certainly stay there again in future.

My friend and I just wanted a girly catch up so didn't want to go to far. When we got to the hotel we were able to book times for the pool (covid restrictions) and also for breakfast and then we went straight to our room. The room was clean and had a great view out over the Wirral, Cheshire and north Wales. Beds were very comfy. Bathroom was a bit questionable and could do with mordernising. Friend wanted a pedicure but as the spa treatments are done through an outside company she want able to but she should really have booked it earlier so not the hotels fault. Staff were friendly and breakfast was lovely however the pizzas for dinner weren't the best and weren't fresh but cheap bought pizza bases so quite disappointing. Pool was lovely and warm and I ended up having it to myself. If you want a cheap and cheerful hotel you can't go wrong here but you do need a car to get around if you plan on day tripping.

This hotel from start to us leaving was outstanding Regarding the reception staff they make you welcome, and help in every way, would like to thank them personally on behalf of my mam has she left her bag in the taxi, they did every thing to reassure us and even picked it up from the taxi office, our room was adapted spacious, clean and bed comfy Breakfast was lovely and staff were excellent Glad to be returning in November.

We decided to spend the night here as we were travelling up to Yorkshire for a weeks holiday and found this hotel which accepted pets and it looked fine. Unfortunately the place is quite outdated and in need of an upgrade. The entrance into the hotel has two sets of doors and no disabled controlled access doors which makes things extremely difficult for wheelchair users. The staff were very friendly helpful and welcoming. In order to get to our hotel room we had to navigate four sets of doors which makes it extremely difficult when you have luggage and trying to push somebody in a wheelchair. We had a meal in the restaurant that evening and the staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant and the meal was okay nothing special. In conclusion I would definitely say that the hotel and its rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment and updating.

Couldn't fault this hotel, room was really big and comfortable, loved the swimming and sauna facilities, I went with my 2 daughters, birthday treat. Food in restaurant was great value and really nice. Breakfast was just as enjoyable.

This hotel is in a great location and from a distance looks inviting. But on closer inspection you see the front is uncared for. The glasses weeds and beer bottles on the front flower beds is a good indicator of what to expect inside. It's an unloved hotel. We were offered the room where the toilet was leaking soiled water over the bathroom floor and coming off the wall. We were moved to a smaller room and the receptionist was very nice about it. The rest of the stay without going into detail lacked attention to detail. Missing towels milk and breakfast. Which again are all rectified once brought to the teams attention and the team are lovely. But it's hone down hill compared to the last time we stayed and you get fed up with asking for the obvious. And for the price you expect better. Lastly 50% of the guests were not wearing masks and we were also not allowed to sit outside due to a wedding. So all in all poor show

I have stayed here several times, however each time I had have a lovely experience. It was different than previous visits due to the COVID-19 safety guidelines however the room was clean, the bed was comfy and the shower was hot! We had a balcony view room this time which was great and perfect for the hot weather. They offered vegan options still and offered me vegan chocolate cake as an alternative dessert. The staff were friendly and accommodating and I would stay here again. The parking is also very good and safe. I really enjoy staying here and hope to book again for a longer stay. Friendly and helpful staff, big and clean rooms, tasty food, great service. Big indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Access to the fitness room and good quality massage. The hotel is located in a very amazing location, with nice views and footpaths through the wood. Definitely visit again.

Had a one night stay as a stopover on the way home to North Wales from a trip elsewhere in the UK. We loved the location of the hotel. It's in lovely grounds and, if you're not lucky enough to have views over the estuary from your room, a short walk to the nearby war memorial will provide you with the views - which are beautiful. Our room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The room had all the amenities we would expect but the decor is a little tired and the hotel generally feels like it needs a little TLC. We also had some issues with the lights - with only the bathroom light and 1 out of 4 of them in the main room working. The rooms have no air conditioning or fans in them so it was absolutely boiling in our room - not helped by the heated towel rail being on and boiling hot the entire time. We did try and look for a way to turn it off, and thought we'd found one, but no such luck. We ended up sitting up in the dark and reopening the window at 12:45am for about 45 minutes to try and cool down the room enough to get some sleep - which we eventually did. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we couldn't fault any of them and we had the breakfast in the morning and that was very tasty. Most of it was table service - aside from the cereals and fruit juice. The service was quick and the staff very helpful. We really liked our table by the window with such a lovely view tor look at whilst enjoying breakfast. Overall, despite the minor issues, it was a lovely stay and we would happily stay again.

Great location with stunning views over the rural/ urban transition of the lower Mersey estuary. Very quiet even though there was a wedding in the hotel. Easy check in and out with courteous and helpful staff. No lift, so be prepared to heft your own luggage up and down the stairs. Decor is tired and carpets threadbare in places but clean and well maintained. Grab and Go breakfast is a bacon butty and a carton of juice which was a little underwhelming. Didnt like the spa bath as it smelt when turned on, so didnt explore that facility further. Would have preferred a decent shower rather than a hosing down sat in the bath as the shower hose was so short. Room a little over full of furniture that seemed superfluous. Having said all that it was ideally located for our trip and delivered a decent nights rest which is the point after all.

Overnight stay with family . Enjoyed making use of the spa facilities which we had to book due to Covid . Lovely 3 course meal in the evening booked again in the restaurant and excellent food and a peaceful nights sleep .

We have stayed at forest hills many times and always enjoyed our stay. There were a few noticeable changes with Covid such as booking systems for the gym and pool and not the usual breakfast buffet options (I was told these are expanding soon). However the staff are as lovely as ever, trying to do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable and the location is still fantastic! We love the outside space which was great for the children to play in the evening. Thank you we will be returning again soon

We had planned our return from a holiday in Belfast with an overnight sailing back to the Isle of Man, however the Boat was still out of service but the first part of the journey back was going ahead so we needed an overnight on route from Birkenhead to Heysham. We found this hotel through Booking .com but could not book due to Covid restrictions so I contacted the hotel directly and booked an executive room with breakfast included. Unfortunately the hotel would not match the booking.com price which was at least £15 cheaper but as I could not book through the website I was stuck. We came directly from Birkenhead to the hotel via a scenic but often tight single lane route set by Google maps! which was fine we were tired from travelling all day from Belfast on the calm but open seas an 8 hour crossing. The hotel interior is a bit dated, the staff however are friendly and helpful, but the offputing point was due to Covid restrictions the bar was closed and guests wanting a drink had to sit in the large reception area, but when guests get an uncontrolled spurt of coughing, and don't try and contain their spit or other oral droplets its very worrying, and despite this being a regular thing with one particular young guest nothing was said by the reception staff and no paper tissues etc were offered. The Bed was comfortable and the room was large, the following morning I used the swimming pool and jacuzzi, and the breakfast was more than adequate even for w Plant based diet. so all in all I would recommend this hotel. As a final farewell as we left the next day the Covid swabbing team were setting up a mobile test facility in the carpark!

Enjoyed 2 nights in the hotel. Hotel clean and smart, friendly and helpful staff. Got a upgrade to executive room. Very spacious and nice large shower. Enjoyed a swim in the pool and also sauna,steam room and hot tub. Excellent value for money, will definitely go back

Arrived at the hotel with my friend Jackie & asked Brian (reception) for early check-in & room upgrade. Even though it was his first day on the job, he sorted us out within minutes. All staff from reception, housekeeping, restaurant & leisure could not have been more helpful & friendly..Our executive room was spotlessly clean & well appointed, bright & airy. Breakfast was a varied choice, plentiful & good quality. I don't know which hotel gen1 stayed in but it bears no resemblance to the hotel we stayed in!! Believe me, we love our many varied spa breaks & are fussy clients, so wouldn't accept poor hospitality.. Thanks Forest Hills staff, we hope to see you soon.

pictures look better than the room actually was outside was lovely but the hotel looked dated. lact of information was disappointing we know with covid things are different but a sheet of paper on a notice board would have helped local phone numbers taxi, railway station.bus company.

2 night break with my friend. Lovely hotel, excellent upgrade to an executive suite, lovely comfy bed and huge double shower all spotlessly clean. Enjoyed our swims and the jacuzzi, only travelled from Liverpool but it really felt like we were on holiday. Staff lovely and really helpful, particularly Brian, Elaine and Tracy. Very nice breakfast and plenty of choice. We would definitely return for another mini break.

We spent two nights at the hotel and were very satisfied with the customer service provided, especially by the reception staff. There was an issue with the cistern in the room we had booked initially but the team were very efficient in dealing with the problem and upgrading us to resolve the matter to our complete satisfaction.

Room was clean & spacious. Close to local amenities & a short drive into Chester. Staff friendly & helpful. Location was great away from hustle and bustle. Good views. Full English was spot on, great service.

We stayed here so that we could start the Sandstone Trail with ease after breakfast and we were very happy being able to use the spa after walking all day - a great beginning, with a perfect end. Lots of pubs serving food locally meant we had a choice of where to go for an evening meal and a pint - great!

Really great facilities, fabulous restaurant, great food and pleasant staff. The location is fantastic for walking directly from the hotel! Great shopping with in easy reach at Chester and also the Cheshire Oaks outlet complex.

Great service and everything made clear regarding Covid precautions. Rooms clean and spacious, and all staff very welcoming. Lots of available parking directly outside the hotel lobby. Breakfast made and ready to collect at exact time requested. Already booked my next stay!

The welcome was warm, the rooms were clean tidy and well presented. Staff were helpful, food was great - freshly cooked, piping hot and delicious. We had treatments while we were there and hotel staff facilitated this booking too. A lovely location, near to Chester and with great views from the dining room!

To have a hotel open during these difficult days should be applauded. That the experience is not as we like it is mainly out of their hand. I believe that the staff do their best and try to make the stay as nice as possible. To write a review during these days, comparing to pre-COVID days is not fair. Perhaps the hotel could do with a facelift, but our room was fine, WiFi good, temperature in the room good, so overall, fine and could see myself return in the future.

Right from entering the hotel I was very impressive with the attention to hygiene and precautions during the pandemic. Throughput my stay I was aware of this making me feel very reassured. Examples include sanitising key cards, pens, TV remotes etc.even the lockers in the pool/gym changing room had been configured for social distancing. Room was ideal, very generous size, warm, massive TV but most importantly a really comfy mattress made for a sound night's sleep. Due to the pandemic one must book a time slot for the pool but the two times I went this meant there were never more than 6 people at the pool of which only two could be on the awesome jacuzzi. Dinner in the restaurant was tasty and fairly price. We couldn't finish it all but it was nice food. It was dark but during the day the restaurant has lovely scenic views from its hilltop vantage. I was very reluctant to stay during the pandemic but I cannot fault the best western Frodsham, the overt attention to hygiene was very reassuring.

Got married here 10 years ago and visited for anniversary. Expected it to be different due to covid but felt no effort was put into making guests feel comfortable and enjoy their stay. One staff member made us feel like we couldn't complain without a rude response.

Lovley reception staff Shame they are all having to share jobs and make do at present Hotel needs to change and perfect the simple but important things Cold breakfasts most days , ppor internet, lights broken in toom , tiles falling off wall in bathroon ,curtains hanging off rail in rooms Fix the heating and small maintenance jobs that pulls the hotel down . Lovely setting though needs a big facelift starting to look really dated in decor

Stayed here in the past for work and always had good food in the evening. I fully understand how difficult it is in the current situation to provide a normal service but quality should still not be a problem. There is a very limited menu which still has a reasonable choice but the description does not match the food delivered ie menu said roast potatoes served boiled, chips that were barely cooked but fish over done. Breakfast times whilst perfect pre COVID for the business traveller no longer suit the current weekday guests , most people arrived just as the restaurant was about to close, why not open half an hour later and then close at 9.30am not the current 9am I did make these comments during my visit but no one seemed bothered

Disappointed in the stay, reception staff rude, room far from clean, changing room for pool not that clean either, pool had far too many chemicals in, food average but very over priced. Gardens very unkept. Won't be returning

Facilities were fine. The room was not cleaned on the middle day of our stay. We travelled for a family party on the Sunday which I informed the lady I booked with, and that we would like to bring our dog. We were told that they could accommodate that. I advised that 3 of our party were Veggie/vegan and asked what the menu was likely to be and was told I should be able to find out on arrival. The hotel on arrival was not at all busy. Our room was fine, and everything was in working order. We were unable to find out what would be on the Sunday menu after another 3 times of asking over the weekend. We also had to vacate our room ( we would have been happy to pay to keep it as we were having a meal at lunch time and the dog was not allowed in the restaurant. So during our family meal my husband kids and I had to take turns sitting with the dog. As I mentioned the hotel was not busy. The experience caused far more anxiety than needed and sadly we wont be back and will encourage our local family members to choose elsewhere for future family events. On our departure we were not as happy as the people in the picture.

Staying for a few days for work purposes and they are have no wifi working except at the reception desk. The rooms are "covid-19" compliant so of course there are no spoons available to stir the coffee/tea with. Overall average.

The hotel is looking slightly dated in the communal area but served the purpose of providing us suitable accommodation before continuing our journey. Social distancing measures were suitable. Tea and coffee etc need to be asked for but a spoon would have been useful too!

We tried to get their highly publicised three nights for the price of two.......but the company refused,obviously a ploy, which netted two nights from us in room 206 for two nights for just over £200 including breakfasts. On entering we were requested to wear masks and social distance, it was very busy,but plenty of parking available,anyway, we climbed the stairs to 206, which overlooked the estuary, tidy, large bedded clean room,table and 2 chairs,very low settee with large screen swivel television, DVD player and oodles of spare sockets, the bathroom had a bath-jacquizi-shower with pull screen.So we thought....put the kettle on.........and found out our 3 for 2......Three coffees,three tea bags, 4 sugars,3 milk sachets.........only 3 pillows for the two of us and the remote for the television was not working, no plastic throw away disposable drinking cups..........so, we wanted reception....no info about anything in room so googled the reception number using our own phone and requested another remote or batteries , pillow and some more coffee,sugar and milks, which was totally ignored so made do, being an engineer, removed the batteries and cleaned the contacts in the remote and got it to work.....We had booked the swimming pool....but on entry was overrun with screaming kids running around on their own in the changing rooms , so we didnt bother with the swimming pool at all, as it was thought unsafe. Following morning, we went down to our alloted time for breakfast and asked reception why our call request for pillow etc was ignored at £100 a night?..Was told they must have been delivered to the wrong room? Breakfast first morning was friendly and organised with the three girls...totally fine as they were under a great strain with Covid restrictions....lovely overlooking the estuary. We thanked them all and left. When we got back from our day out, the room had not been serviced, so I went down to ask why not....ohhh we dont due to the coronavirus until you vacate the room....so asked for more towels and they were more or less thrown at me in a huff. Second morning.....no record of our second nights booking with the stroppy waiter.....asked twice what room....and twice our name.We were then shown to the table with more strop...My wifes breakfast was totally wrong, mine was fine.Tall spectacled waiter was great and gratefully made light of things....eventually correct breakfast was supplied to my wife, but mine by then was finished and she hates eating alone so was very uncomfortable. We totally accept this is an awkard time....but to blame so much on the virus is unacceptable. So...........we will not be returning.....worst "Best" Western service ever and we have been to quite a few. Also......tap dripping non stop.....window seals are awful and it blows a gale through them

can't fault the staff there brilliant young girl on breakfast and another that is heavily pregnant rushed off there feet couldn't do enough food was good service was as good as expected being short staffed much better than the previous night in which I can akin the dinner service to something out of faulty towers another woman popped her head in during breakfast but didn't seem to do much part from look busy! Since my last stay prices have gone through the roof bar and food wise although breakfast was much better as a plated option all in all probably won't be back for a while does seem to have gone downhill a little bit really showing it's age in certain areas. Seems like it could end up going the same way as the another local hotel has

Beautiful hotel up in the hills, beautifully clean and tidy, fantastic nights sleep in extremely comfy beds, felt very safe during these covid times. Swimming pool superb, breakfast amazing, very yummy. Staff all very kind and helpful. All round perfect!

Stayed here for five nights as a group of 7 for a family break. The rooms were nice especially the family rooms which had huge 55 inch tvs three beds and sofas too. Due to the covid regulations the stay was different, however all staff were helpful the two ladies on reception were knowledgable too. A special shout out to lydia and sarah at the leisure club who went out of their way to get us all booked in each day for a swim. Pool is very nice and jacuzzi hot too. Frodsham is a nice town with lots to see nearby and a great base to explore the mersey coast too. Hotel is at the top of a large hill with nice grounds and views. Supermarkets and restaurants within a 2 mile radius. Plenty of parking and great value too.. we paid very little and got a lot... Would recommend a stay here!

We thought the hotel was in a great location , great value and excellent staff . Until we were awoke at 730 by two staff members stood under our window deciding to moan about their employers . Everyone has a right to a moan , but seriously not at 730am under an open window while using really strong and offensive language. It took away what should have been a 5 star rating . If the hotel want to get in touch I'll give more details . It's not right to comment on here

For someone on the more anxious level of the spectrum with regard to covid 19 worries this stay was remarkably reassuring. We discovered that the hotel had only been open a couple of days when we stayed, but the lengths the staff went to to cover all infection worries was beyond our expectations starting with a temperature check of all guests on arrival, tv handset inside a ziplock bag, table and chairs and cruet sets sterilised after each use in the dining area and so on. Room was spacious and comfortable for the price and breakfast decent. Previously we have stayed at Travelodges in the area and this eclipses it, so definitely will come again.

I stayed here for 2 nights. It is dated but the room was comfortable. The window was wide open when I got there so the room was really cold. The food was OK but the menu was limited so we ate somewhere else the next night. The wine was really expensive and the starters were so small considering what they cost. I ordered brie bites at £5 and got 3 tiny ones which was really tight.

Excellent place to stay with fantastic facilities. Food in the restaurant was perfect. We had the executive sweet and wow! What a room! Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, placed some extra treats in the room for our arrival. Stunning views over Cheshire from our room. Will definitely go back again

Lovely clean hotel, room spotsless, gooe location. Down side is no lift but was not a problem for us, but may be for others. Jacuzzi, pool, steam and sauna were good. Breakfast was buffet style and staff were very friendly and helpful. Drinks were expensive but we did not buy any as we had taken our own. I had booked in for a treatment at the spa during my stay which I believe is an outside agency and nothing to do with the hotel, they bascislly rent a room. They cancelled my appointment less than an hour before it was due, left me no time to book elsewhere and claimed they only had 1 therapist. Customer service poor and did not respond to my complaint via email.

My stay lasted 13 working weeks while working in Runcorn. The staff and the service was excellent. The food could not be faulted. The menu constantly evolved so it never got repetitive or boring, a huge thank you to the chef. The grounds look attractive, the hotel looks modern and the front of house staff welcoming. I would have liked the rooms to have been warmer and the showers hotter, but the fact that I have already booked my next stay which should speak volumes.

Arrived very late, welcoming front desk staff. Fabulous room spacious with beds for all. A real plus point and as it should be. Huge double shower and double sinks in the bathroom. Breakfast was good as buffets go, eggs and toast cooked to order. We used the pool and jacuzzi afterwards. Overheard regulars saying new manager has taken to turning down pool temperature. It was very cold, meanwhile the jacuzzi really hot as like a bath. Steam room smelt of olbas oil a nice touch, but was "cool" as was the sauna which you couldn't add water to. Would stay again.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. The restaurant had great views! Lovely food and good service at the evening although the breakfast staff didn't seem as professional and were not as attentive. Leisure centre was great. Good sized pool. Good gym. We have been to this hotel many times and it is still good value for money, however some standards of the hotel have slipped somewhat.

Booked this as a cheap voucher deal, and didn't have great expectations. Was really pleasantly surprised. Yes the hotel is a little dated in decor terms, but the staff are wonderful and the service is fantastic. The room was spotless and the restaurant staff genuinely friendly. We will be revisiting on this basis. If I were to make one constructive comment, it would be that the pool temp was a little low on our visit, and the changing rooms may benefit from a sprue up. Otherwise all A+++

Stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst visiting family in Frodsham. We usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Runcorn but decided to try Best Western Forest Hills because it was cheaper than staying at the Holiday Inn this time . I am really glad that we did. The room was nice and was bigger than we were expecting. Everything in the room worked. We have sometimes found that usually there is a light or something that doesn't work. Breakfast was included in the price and was lovely. Everything you could possibly eat was on the menu and was nicely cooked. The ladies in the dining room were excellent and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Forest Hills will now be our first Hotel of choice when we visit family in Frodsham in the future. An excellent Hotel.

My wife and I visited this hotel last July as it is near Cheshire. This was the second time we have been here. We arrived here and checked straight in by the friendly receptionist. The bar and restaurant are on the left as you arrive . The room we had was the one we had last time which was a corner room and was really big. It had a big bathroom and double shower, a nice comfortable large bed and the room was clean. We never used the spa facilities but the pool looked a reasonable size.We have had some nice dinners in the restaurant and it is high up on a hill and has a lovely view over looking the Mersey. The staff are always friendly and polite and the service is good. The breakfast is very nice and they have a good choice. I would use this hotel again and would recommend it.

My daughter and I stayed last weekend, as our belated Xmas present to each other. She chose a Best Western having spent a few days at their Doncaster property for a work meeting. She'd raved about the food and the décor. In our ground floor room, there was a dirty earbud in the bin and the bathroom lock was broken, There was no light on the ceiling, and we had to move the TV to reach the main lamp switch. The décor in the public areas and the bedroom we had was extremely out-dated. The pool, jacuzzi and steam room were lovely - we spent two hours there. Our main issue was the service in the dining room. We'd booked a table for 8pm and when we got to the restaurant, there were many empty tables. However, we were asked by X to wait ten minutes in the 'bar area' (a soulless space, with 2 tables, at the entrance of the dining room) while they served the people already seated. When we challenged that, we were shown to our table, and ordered a bottle of wine. That came quickly, but they seemed to be making a point, and we had to wait nearly half an hour for the food order to be taken. The food was OK, similar type quality to Premier Inn. Next morning, we were waiting to be shown to a table for breakfast, and encountered X again, but she was too busy chatting to notice us. Having been dissed the night before, we found her behaviour insulting. Thankfully, after a few minutes, one of her colleagues saw us an hurried over. The breakfeat was OK, the coffee less so. We were both very disappointed and will give this chain a wide-berth in future.

All the staff were very nice and helpful constantly, soon as we arrived we just felt welcome. All staff in the restaurant, bar and leasure part were all nice people. Enjoyed a bottle of prosecco on arrival and the room was clean and bed was amazing. Honestly cant fault anything, we ate food which was very nice also. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anybody worth every penny.

Wonderful Hotel ..Amazingly helpful Staff.nothing is to much trouble for any of them!.Fantastic food such good value for money puds are amazing!..lovely comfy rooms.tea and coffee in rooms...dressing gowns in exec room..But Unfortunately no slippers anymore! They were missed as we use them to pool and back.

We were warmly welcomed on our arrival and efficiently booked in. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable as we would expect. The room was kept clean and spotless by the chambermaids. Breakfast was excellent.

I was sceptical before I came but I def didn't need to be. The room is spotless, The staff couldn't be lovelier, even the chef is accommodating when checking about food for next evening, eg potatoes instead of chips and food is great. Def recommend this venue and can't find anything negative to say.

Made to feel welcome immediately, and was highly impressed with the hotel overall. The room I was given was spacious, very clean and quiet. I had a great sleep which set me up nicely for the following day. Will definitely be coming back

This hotel is excellent value , the room for my wife and I was very spacious with a couch and TV set away from main bedroom. Room 98 was peaceful although a little bit hot and very definitely not a room with a view. Bed was very comfy. There was an issue with the room which was a bit unfortunate involving another couple being given a key to our room by mistake but the hotel have gone out their way to rectify situation and the manager called us to apologise. It seemed like a genuine mistake and think this is a one off. We have been offered a free nights b and b by way of an apology which shows that the staff care. Breakfast was great for me , although they had run out of dairy free milk on first morning and had limited veggie alternative for my wife . ( Again manager has rectified this ) The pool was cold and felt like an after thought as was dirty and many of the facilities were not working. A huge positive was the staff , everyone went out of their way to look after us. One staff member even sang happy birthday to me during breakfast. Hotel is in a great location for day visits to Chester or exploring Liverpool or parts of North Wales . Cheshire oaks is a huge bonus also. When booking you do have to appreciate that it is a budget hotel. I gave three stars because of the issues mentioned . Without them would have been 4.

We love staying here. We have stayed here 7 times. My boys love the leisure facilities. The pool and sauna are fantastic. The steam room wasn't that warm this time and smells of mould. The jacuzzi wasn't working AGAIN! It would be nice to be warned about this. The pool is great... However it is showing signs of wear and I found a slight odour to it, although the rest of my family didn't. The breakfast was fantastic as usual. The staff are lovely.. However our room wasn't ready until 4pm but this wasn't a problem. We love staying here and I do hope the spa will have a bit of a revamp as the gym has.... I went here.. The equipment was amazing. Relaxed and lovely break all in all.

Enjoyed a New Years Eve family buffet and disco. Would recommend this event to any family with children. Meals very well cooked, plentiful and hot. Breakfast was a particularly nice meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

we are regular visitors to Forest Hills Hotel. we go mainly for the Jacuzzi and pool. no one informed us that the Jacuzzi was not working. this has been on 2 occasions and both times we were not informed. when i questioned this i was given an answer by reception that she had been on leave for 5 days and was not aware of it. I had booked an executive room which was not much better than a standard room. when I asked for a refund as we were not staying, I was told that both reception and duty manager could not authorise this. I had to email general manager. who to be fair got back to me quite quickly and said she had authorised the refund. but I am still waiting. very poor service. it isn't a great hotel, it is a leisure facility that has rooms.

Awful. We booked three family room. No issue with that. Now the rooms Room 1, good Room 2 no good no heating, cold and some lights not working, toilet seat broken phone not working and could not order room service so walk to reception to to order food. Room 3. Phone not working. Heating not working so had to staying overnight in a Cold room, bathroom towel rail cold. Bathroom looked dated, holes where pipes are coming out

First time I'd been here for a works night out. Food was delicious. I had the veggie option which was mushroom wellington. The soup for starter was delicious. It was a Motown night and the group had everyone dancing from the first song. An excellent night. Would definitely recommend.

We visit family in Frodsham frequently and until this occasion have always used the only hotel that is located in the town centre.....with very varied results. Decided to try the Best Western because the town centre hotel was fully booked - for a convention or similar - and we were very pleased we did!! Apart from the location (just beyond walking distance from the centre of the town - but only £4.50 for a taxi fare) we found the hotel to be welcoming, clean, excellently appointed and superior in all aspects to its more central neighbour. Service and staff were first class, and in terms of what we paid for a superior double, extremely good value for money. We will return - the reason I did not award a 5* was due to the lack of heating in the room/corridor on the 2nd floor, which was not rectified during our stay (saying that, the room was warm enough without the heating working). Highly recommended.

I have stayed here a few times with my partner, and all have been lovely. The hotel itself is in a good location with ample parking, and feels like a true escape due to its location. The staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating too. The food is of a good standard, however it would be really nice to have more vegetarian and vegan options available. There was a good spread at breakfast, even if it was a little expensive. The room was a little warm both times I have stayed, and only one towel was provided for two. However, all in all a nice room to stay in. It was also a good place for a business stay. There is room for development with the food options, and a few details, however I would recommend it, and especially at Christmas time where they had lovely decorations.

We were visiting Chester at the last minute so needed a dog friendly hotel on the east side. Our first choice was The Swan at Tarporley. As they nerver answered their phone or responded to emails we decided that would be off our list forever. We thought we would try the BW Frodsham Forest Hills Hotel. And we were very pleased that we did. Its location was great- although finding it in the dark using our sat nav wasn't easy. There is a recommended sign posted route. A large free car park. Checking in was easy and friendly. My only quibble- we knew there was £10 charge per dog per night but when booking with Booking.com I had put in Special Requests that we were bringing a dog. The first email from them in reply said there would not be an additional charge but that was soon followed by one saying it would be £10 extra for our dog. I did not raise this at check in. As well as our room key we got an envelope for our dog. Inside was a ball, some treats and a sign for the door if we left our dog inside while we left the room. The grounds are extensive with a woodland walk to take your dog. There is even a hose at the entrance and towels from Reception if your dog gets muddy. So we were very impressed with their attitude towards dog owners. The hotel is large. We didn't use the pool or restaurant. It is a bit tired at the edges but our room was large and comfortable. Yes the bathroom suite was pink but it all worked fine. It was quiet too. Frodsham is nearby with lots of facilities. Chester was an easy drive. Assuming that the price is right this will be our hotel of choice next time we visit Chester. Recommended.

Lovely executive room; clean, warm and spacious. But the restaurant and lounge areas were cold. The lounge is little more than a corridor. Meal quality was okay. DON'T have the porridge though - reminded me of school semolina. Stayed in two Premier Inns in the last month, both beat this experience hands down at a fraction of the price. Also wasn't informed of the limit on the pre-payed dinner so had to pay extra at check out.

Accidentally left our charger behind, called to ask the hotel to put it to one side for us to collect. Apparently it can't be found. 100% sure it was there, less than 2 hours later it was missing!!!!!

Treated by friends to a surprise weekend away for my birthday. They booked this hotel for the night before we flew early doors on the Saturday. The hotel was dated but we had a room with a double bed and 2 singles. It suited what we needed for the night. It was clean the single beds weren't the most comfy for my friends , one felt she was in a water bed as every time she loved it rocked and swayed. But over all I'm sure we didn't over pay for our stay and it did what we needed

Great feel to this hotel through the room and restaurant feel. As I say, I really don't mind driving some extra miles to get to stay here. The food is always homely and reliable quality which is really important!

Great room, lovely food, nice enough pool for a dip after a long day. Had the dinner bed and breakfast deal. Had a shock on check out with an extra charge for £45. Apparently the kids meals weren't included in the dinner bed and breakfast deal. Nowhere in my booking and confirmation did it say they weren't included so I assumed that as I'd booked for 4, the deal was for 4. Rude rude rude manager when I questioned it. Shame because our stay was lovely. Would probably go back now we know, but she was a cow! The other girls at the desk were even cowering; they were lovely and so helpful.

The hotel itself is clean, it needs a bit of a modernisation, but the room was big enough and good central heating. Plenty of parking. It was a very wet night, so decided not to brave the rain and eat in the restaurant. The man who greeted us was really lovely and friendly. A great welcome. The first course was good, but my wife and I both had the Chef's special mixed grill. It was pretty disgusting. The steak (I asked for rare) was completely inedible, the chicken dry and the rest quite tasteless. My other two had a burger each which seemed to be ok. They became quite busy, so no one checked on how our food was and no one asked me why the steak and half eaten chicken were still in the plate. The serving team seemed very young and frankly inexperienced. They were keen to take plates away but not risk any confrontation. I didn't want to take them to task, but it wasn't good enough really. We had a few drinks, nothing over the top, so when it came to the bill I was very shocked. It was hugely expensive for what we had, so be aware. The food didn't seem very expensive, so it can only be the drinks. So just a little warning, average food and high bar prices! Eat and drink elsewhere is my advice to you. Will I go back? Yes, room rate was good, hadn't realised there was a pool and lovely views. A summer visit would be good. But I won't ever eat there again and would bring my own drinks. It's a shame, but I don't like to feel that I've been overcharged, not for something I didn't have but the price that was being charged. For the cost for four, it's actually cheaper to eat and drink in the city centre of Manchester! That's saying something, because that's not cheap either. Just not justified.

Was not expecting much being only a 3 star hotel but I was so impressed. Nothing better than walking in to a room and smelling "clean". Cannot fault the hotel, from the staff to the food, to the views, pool, gym... Just amazing. Highly recommend. Couldn't ask for better service. Beds not the most comfortable I have slept in but that's minor because they are still pretty good. Should be at least a 4.5 star hotel. Oh and breakfast FABULOUS and had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Wish however they did salt the chips as put on too much. Will definitely be back to stay longer as price is fabulous too.

We are currently staying here for 3 nights and it's been really lovely so far. The staff are all so friendly especially the breakfast staff today (31st October ). We were made the yummiest omelette this morning. The breakfast has a great choice of hot and cold items. The pool is lovely, if a little dark. The sauna and steam is good too. The hotel is spacious and really well set out, it if however a little dated. It is really immaculate and room cleaners are great. The gym is brilliant, great machines and choice. We really enjoyed a walk this morning along from the war memorial this morning and the views are really nice. A real little gem, tucked away -we will definitely return. I'm giving it an excellent as on the whole it's really great.

When we have a day out to Chester we have stopped at this lovely hotel on many occasions nice friendly staff the children loved the swimming pool the rooms are very spacious beds comfortable, overall a lovely stay everytime would highly recommend

A bit middle of nowhere it seemed as we were searching for it quite late in the evening. Trust the signs! Greeted by Lucy the receptionist who was ultra friendly. Then on to our room, have to say I haven't seen a bathroom suite like that since the 70's but it was clean and well maintained. The room was spacious and well appointed. For the price paid, this is a remarkably good hotel. We tried the dining room where we served by another pleasant member of staff (I think he was called Jack) The hotel really came into its own here. The food was very good indeed. I have certainly paid a lot more for much lower quality elsewhere. All in all, a little dated here and there but it added to the charm. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if in the area and would certainly like to dine here again.

Nice view out of restaurant. Price was good value as a BW card holder. the food provided both for breakfast and evening meal was enjoyable with no problems. Large car park. Room upgraded upon request as a Diamond select card holder. Had to ask for additional points.

We had a very average stay here. The room was really hot which we couldn't control and the bed was uncomfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were nice but the steam room was really poor. The gym is seriously due an update as half of the equipment barely worked. I really think it should be more clear about accessibility as I found the drive up to the hotel a struggle.

We stopped here a few years ago and gave it a an Excellent rating Five Green Circles However this time we stopped in a Family room Let me explain why we gave an Average Rating this time Three Green Circles It should have been lower a One Green Circle ....Terrible. The reason We gave an Average instead of Terrible was down to this: Nearly Everything about the Hotel we liked The Staff are Brilliant .The Food is Very Good .The Hotel itself is on par with any Premier Inn.The Views are Very Good The Room spacious The Bed Large and comfortable and the Hotel is set in a quiet Location so a Goods Night sleep was expected. Unfortunately Couldn't get to sleep because of a vibrating noise which seemed to get louder and then die down a bit then it was back again just as loud and just as annoying. We were going to go down to reception and have a word but as it was late and we were only there for one night decided that we would bite the bullet and suffer the noise for one night Had it been for a couple of nights stay though we would have definitely asked for a room change. So Went down to our breakfast and as we past Reception I went over and asked the Nice young Lady Receptionist who had been on duty the day beforehand and had helped booked us in, I quietly asked Her what was that horrible loud noise in our room. She looked surprised and apologised and then offered to get the Maintenance people in to have a look and see what the problem was. and She asked for our room number. Fair Play to her Thats all she could do in the circumstances Breakfast was spot on as was the service. So decided to do a bit of investigation and found out the cause of the noise. Directly below our window were two Air conditioning units merrily humming and spinning playing their tunes in harmony. See Photo. So a Big shout out to all the Staff They made our one night stay bearable.Thanks Guys A Big Thumbs down for the noisy Duo outside though. Very pleasant and nice hotel, comfortable and all the staff that we came in contact with where pleasant and helpful. The hotel is located in beautiful countryside and wonderful views from the restaurant over the estuary.

Really pleasant hotel with great staff. I stayed for my mates wedding and it was a superb day. We had a power cut that wasn't ideal for check-out/ charging phone. It is also quite a ways from any shops, so go prepared if you feel the on-site offerings aren't enough.

We had our wedding reception here so decided to stay as well. Comfortable large bed, room was rather warm though had to have window open otherwise good stay. Breakfast was yum to for our hungover heads.

Very nice staff and it was a very very nice place but your beds are horrible not comfortable at all your coffee was very nice and the view from where we had our coffee was excellent swimming pool was okay but Jacuzzi did not work we were not informed of this overall we had a nice stay thank you

This is a great hotel in convenient location. Staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast is excellent. Easy access from this location for Chester and Liverpool and motorways. We would highly recommend staying here

Stayed here week ago wonderful hotel would recommend this hotel to everyone couldn't fault anything would love to stay here again had room 116 with wet room. Spotlessly clean as was bedroom, food good and lovely staff.

First time stay here and had high expectations. Which they were met. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Everything needed in room for our stay.bathroom had shampoos and bubbles which was s great extra. Large towels. Although bathroom was coloured plastic like from the 70s but this didn't effect stay as shower was powerful and bathroom again spotlessly clean. Bed was very comfy and slept like a baby. Ordered room service food was ok. When downstairs in restaurant ordering a drink notice stunning views from tables. Was little bit disappointed wasn't staying downstairs and enjoying these views. Maybe next time as would definitely stay again.

Very nice hilltop location, great to have the leisure centre attached which makes this hotel excellent value. The bar service was pretty slow and pricey and because the village is really nice, this means the best bet is probably a few pounds in a taxi. Breakfast is perfectly fine, buffet style although staff are thin on the ground.

A hotel located on top of the hill. A modern hotel with a good swimming pool. Reception was good but you have to settle your bill on check in. I booked direct and a big mistake and was charged £97 whereas my colleague was charged £79. This was like the current TV advert! Rooms are good, very clean. All have a shower in the bath. Good Wi-fi and TV. Beds and pillows were a little hard for my liking. Breakfast was service yourself with the exception of eggs which they cook to your liking. Quality of food was good and eating this in a dining room overlooking Runcorn was a good experience.

I stayed here the night before and thr night of my wedding. The hotel and staff were faultless and made sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble, I loved every minute of my stay.

Having read other reviews we were looking forward to our stay but we were disappointed with this hotel. Reception staff unwelcoming and unable to answer basic questions about facilities or breakfast. Room was dated and bath had previous guests hairs in it. Tap came off in my hand. Basin was old and stained. No bedside lamps but 1 wall lamp with fluorescent bulb between the twin beds. No croissants or pastries offered for continental breakfast. Coffee tasted like instant. Definitely not worth the cost. Spoke to deputy manager about all issues as we left and she was very understanding. Hopefully changes will be made in the near future.

Recently stayed here. It was a decent price especially when you consider there's a pool and spa facilities. On arrival the check in went smoothly and we were directed to our room. The room itself was nice but the bathroom is dated and needs sprucing up. Pink bathroom suite! The room turned out to be very warm but we were given a fan the following morning as soon as I requested one. We had a bar meal the first night which was nice but the accompanying drinks were expensive. We had a quick swim and I was looking forward to going in the jacuzzi but this was out of action. Listening to other users this is not a rare issue. The breakfast was ok, the first morning we had to order eggs which were then put on the hot plate and we got them as we chose breakfast. The next morning there were eggs premade with the other buffet stuff. Unfortunately they were hard and swimming in grease. I asked for a fresh egg and was told they were on the way. I asked again a couple of times and was told they were on the way, almost 30mins later they were put out. Not the best experience that morning and I felt staff just fobbed me off. It was a shame because generally the staff had been very helpful and friendly up until then.

Just returned from a 1 night stay with my young daughter, on arrival we got a kids welcome pack nice little touch, room was a very good size yes a little outdated but a double size wardrobe, dressing table/desk, chest of drawers and bedside tables and room to move around you would be comfortable for a couple of weeks, also the twin beds were a good space apart not just a few cm like a lot of hotels, bathroom also a great size, with little bottles of shampoo etc. Food was lovely, good size pool too and large changing room, breakfast plentiful and topped up, the best thing about this hotel were the staff, always had a smile and made you feel very welcome, well above my expectations and would recommend to anyone. Thank you for a lovely stay will definitely be back.

First time here on a short 2 day break. Felt at home immediately. Basically clean, maybe needs a slight refurb . especially stair carpets etc. However, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.The staff are the secret.All friendly in their individual ways. A couple of slight slipups were dealt with immediately and with genuine apologies. The hotel is surrounded with history and most of the staff are very local and eager to tell you about the area and its history.The food is very acceptable and comes in reasonable portions. The restaurant is unique with its view of the Mersey and the Ship canal and Runcorn , which, although it is very industrialised, looks quite magical when lit up at night in the distance...... There was a wedding on one evening and the first we knew was seeing the bride and family on the lawn with the photographer. It didnt impact on the hotel in any way.Breakfast is fairly standard but certainly adequate and includes full English as well as the usual continental elements and cereals etc. (One tip for staff-- please remove the tongs from under the hot lamps-- most hotels have them separate on plates to avoid customers getting burnt hands.) Had a lovely conversation with one of the managers who I believe is known affectionately as "Pops", as well as a young man at breakfast who stopped for a chat about the animals you might see on the lawn (rabbits, squirrel etc) . All the staff were really pleasant and tried to make sure you enjoyed your stay. We will certainly be going back in the future--------Oh , forgot the pool and fitness centre.

Stayed 3 nights as part of coach party of 50 in July. First night I think it was chef's night off and although we had a carvery I don't think those on duty that night understood numbers & quantities and some items ran out leaving some of the group unhappy. However once our group organiser spoke to the manager, next day the hotel were quick to rectify the mistake to everyone's satisfaction. On our last night Kieran was on duty and what a character he was. The restaurant ran like clockwork. He was very professional and had obviously worked in the hospitality sector for many years and knew how to work a room. He could have been Paul O Grady's double in looks and personality. I see he was now left the hotel which is a shame as he will be a hard act to follow from the customer's point of view. The food was very good once chef was back, most rooms were very good and large although some of the group said their rooms were dated. Although there is no lift there are plenty of rooms on the ground floor if you ask for them. Be aware that the rooms don't have air conditioning but reception does have fans if required.

Hotel is a good value for money, I took my grandchildren on an over night stay as the pool has no time restrictions on children. We booked a package which included breakfast and evening meal. Restaurant was a bit topsy turvy, we had to ask for butter, toast, eggs etc, service could of been a lot better if these items were accessible, instead of sending waiting staff for them.

I stayed at this hotel once again this summer. Still impressed. The room we were assigned this time was big, again with multiple beds, kettle, fridge and a few plug points (tip: take an extension lead anyway if you have multiple devices to charge). However - this time there were a few new things I encountered - 1. I found the air conditioning unit 2. They have upgraded the TVs now to huge Philips HDTV (still with a DVB tuner so standard Freeview channels - no locked-down special "cable" channels) 3. the bathroom has finally had an upgrade and looks very modern as a result. Room service was very good, and the swimming pool was still an excellent amenity to use, and free to use. And wifi was nice and fast, and still encrypted. Still recommended

Stayed whilst visiting family. We were warmly greeted and quickly and efficiently booked in. Our room was clean and welcoming. I haven't given it 5 stars as there were various lights not working in the room

Cant believe that Kieron the Manager has left. Its not the same. He was the heart and soul of the hotel. Noone worked harder. Im now rethinking going there for my Christmas Day lunch. He made it a special.

We received a warm welcome - loved the welcome packs for dogs and kids. A great idea. Initially we thought the room was great - big enough for us all and clean and tidy. Wanting to make the most of the facilities we rushed to swim on Saturday evening and didn't spot the issue until after we had got the kids to bed. The heated rail in the bathroom had a broken thermostat and made the temperature in the room unbearable as it was blasting out heat. After a very wakeful and difficult night I went straight to Reception to alert you to the issue. We then breakfasted and walked the dog. Plenty of time for an update. We were at the CBBees Summer Social all day on Sunday. So not in then hotel. We returned hoping that it was fixed. It wasn't because I'd inadvertently left the dog sign on the door. However no one rang to alert us of the issue - so by the time we got back to the room nothing was done. When the concierge came to discover the issue he realised that it was broken and an unacceptable alternative was offered. Two rooms - we are travelling with a 2yr old and 5yr old and the difficulty of packing up and moving after bedtime as well as being separated was just not how we wanted to spend our wedding anniversary. Whilst the front desk did apologise - this was empty words because we had suffered too very uncomfortable nights due to a broken room. On top of the heat in the room the constant roar of machinery - made worse by being forced to open a window to try and reduce the heat made the room unfit for purpose. Two nights of very little sleep required more than an apology. This room is directly above the air conditioning plant on the outside of the building and causes a constant roar which is vey disturbing. On the Monday morning wanting to swim again we arranged a late check out for 12pm and left the pool at 11.10am to change but had no water pressure and therefore no ability to shower either in the pool or room. We again notified the front desk who said this was planned but had failed to tell us - even though we had arranged the check out before the maintenance began - again apologised but not good enough. We had to to travel home to Durham unable to wash off the chlorine or refill water bottles. As frequent travellers this falls a long way short of the Best Western experience we would expect.

A new(ish) smart hotel complete with Fitness Centre. The hotel is in a beautiful location in the hills above the Mersey, but surrounded by tress and pleasant countryside. OK, so it isn't the centre of a city, but frankly who wants that? I was staying for work, and found the staff helpful, the room (which I was upgraded to as part of the BW Rewards scheme) was large, modern and was everything I wanted. The restaurant menu is apparently changed every day so there were actually no prices, which was a little strange! As it was for work, I was not too worried and the bill was under £30 at the end of the day, for a nice meal including a pint of lager. Biggest criticism ? The 'new' telephone system could not be set to provide a wake up call, and the reception were not able to offer the service either. Otherwise would recommend the hotel to anyone and everyone.

I seriously cannot praise this hotel enough. After booking our wedding here we were constantly in contact with the wedding co-ordinator everything we wanted for our special day was not a problem for them, we all stayed the night before and had a fantastic meal, nothing was too much trouble and then the next day at wedding kieron was amazing. It was raining the next morning but I had my heart set on an outside ceremony so they set up both areas and decided at the last minute - no other hotel would've done this!! For me there is no where else I would recommend the staff, the location, food and facilities 10 stars all the way!!!

Clean affordable but dont have room 99 your view is a brick wall. TV very small could do with a up to date one on the wall. And not seen a peach coloured bathroom suit for 20 years. Chairs are stained as well

The size of the room was good larger than average,clean and comfortable with a small balcony. We went on a groupon offer which included breakfast and evening meal. The food was good, just felt overall dated in the restaurant. No separate bar to sit and relax in the evening it lacked atmosphere and staff were just lacking in attentiveness. We used the leisure facilities which were fine. Overall it was a nice relaxing break nothing special but nothing bad. I probably wouldn't go again.

I stayed with a party of over 100 guests. The food was cooked to perfection and presented well too. All staff are a credit to the managers. Would definitely stay again Lots to see and do from the hotel. The pool was lovely. The views from the restaurant were spectacular.

Stayed here for one night as part of the Chester Zoo Family package. Lovely hotel, lovely sized bedroom and bathroom. Loved the pool, aqua aerobics and hot tub. However I have to reduce the rating from 5 stars to 3 for the following reasons: 1. Early night for us after a long day and ready for an early start, lights out at 10pm, then the people in the room next door decided to have a 'party' for more than 2 hours, a good night's sleep ruined. 2. No air con in room, far too warm but at least we had a window that we could open and that was problem 2, a great huge generator right under the window, chugging away all night, so either way no sleep for us. 3. Paid £165 for the Chester Zoo Family package, bed breakfast and 'discounted' zoo tickets. Seemed like a bargain but after booking we looked into the actual prices. A room for the night was priced at around £70 (including free breakfast for the 3 of us), that means we have paid £95 for a combination of 'free' breakfast and 'discounted' zoo tickets. Full price zoo tickets for the 3 of us would be £80 on the gate so have we overpaid for the tickets or for a massively overpriced breakfast???

Stayed here for a weekend walking tour. The room was well appointed and reasonably clean but the decor was a little dated and fittings tired. House keeping was of a reasonable standard and our needs taken care of. Meals were breakfast and dinner. Breakfast on both occasions were excellent although some times the staff made minor errors. Unlike the dinner service which was at times chaotic and the bar where they ran out of wine. Our first meal was a disaster, but rescued on the second night by a fantastic manager who ran the dinner service to perfection. I would have scored it higher but there were a few minor faults. Generally a clean and tidy establishment which lives up to its star rating. Staff were pleasant and helpful and overall an enjoyable stay,just a bit isolated.

Every member of the team from check in, gym and restaurant were very welcoming and friendly. The quality of the food is great, kids chicken nuggets really tasty and my fillet was really tasty. Lovely views from the restaurant and our room. I've marked a 4 on room quality only. Good sized room but the bed made an odd sound when you moved, the carpet had some damage and the tv could be a little larger. That said it's really good quality and handy for airports.

Stayed here for a company meeting 2 days business delegate the staff were friendly and all made sure you had a enjoyable stay Room tidy and clean probably one was of the better rooms been refurbished They staff know how to day Delegates Special mention to the night porter dealing with late night drinks and sandwiches with no complaints just making sure everyone happy well done night porter

What a fantastic place! We stayed here recently for a family wedding. The staff were brilliant despite the hotel being very busy over the weekend, nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel and our room were immaculate throughout, the bedrooms are really nice. Our room had a very dated (but immaculate) bathroom. New suites would improve the wow factor but it did the job so no faults there. Food was brilliant, next time we are passing we will probably pop over for lunch.

Hotel was clean and food provided was excellent , pity the choice was not very good. Wifi outside public areas very poor Bar staff take drink before you have finished,, would have had another drink but so flabbergasted that I did not have another one

I booked two nights at Forest Hills as I was visiting the area. The hotel is signposted so is easy to find and has ample parking. I found out that later that there was a coach party and wedding booked in so I was unable to book a double and booked an executive room instead and I was really glad I did. The room was very comfortable with nice views, I had a king size bed, fresh fruit, ample tea and coffee and to my delight an air bath. The check-in was straight forward and all staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style with a continental option. I had a very relaxing stay and would recommend this hotel.

So we stayed here in May 2019 as part of a coach party travelling from Norfolk & arrived at about 6:30pm and welcomed by the manager who gave us our room keys, registration form & dining menu for the evening meal that we completed and handed in. Our room 126 was superb & whilst not being a disabled room type was excellent for my disabled wife who was able to use her electric wheelchair so the distance wasn't a problem. The room had excellent facilities of a king size bed plus a single bed plus tv, trouser press, iron, kettle, tv & safe plus a large walk in shower & a towel rail that in this hotel worked plus toilet & sink. The beds and pillows were comfortable and fruit was left in the room daily. On the first evening dinner, the service was haphazard as several waiters brought out the courses but didn't know who they were for. On the 2nd & 3rd nights the same happened again even though I know our table put down the surname & table number - maybe an area to improve upon but that might be down to the coach firm as well. The food quality & choices were very good with good sized meals & hot. Breakfast consisted of a buffet style hot & cold styles. We had a drink in the small bar attached to the restaurant although there was seating with tv nearby but not quiet. The bar prices were very reasonable. There is a leisure pool but only accessible if you walk down steps and in my wife's case she couldn't and was extremely unhappy with the attitude of the young members of staff. There was an exterior door with a single step that could have been worked around with a ramp and in these days of PC I can't see any reason why a ramp wasn't made available for her or the people in the group so that's the reason I have knocked off a single *. All in all a very comfortable stay with a nice welcome and goodbye from the management.

Stumbled across this hotel on a drive into the Cheshire countryside and decided to come back. Great facilities and location for the price a real gem. Hotel has spa facilities, bar and restaurant and room service. Leisure centre with gym. Great location in pretty countryside lots of walks on sandstone trail and local village with pubs

We stayed here Friday 3 May til 5 May . Attending a family wedding at Willington Hall . Not enough rooms here so booked Forest hills mainly because of the facilities. We Had booked treatments in the spa so arrived at 11 am , able to book in at this time as receptionist said not busy night before . BONUS The receptionist very helpful and efficient , check in was fast . Used all the facilities pool . Steam room etc all very clean and well looked after . Bedrooms large with all the amenities you could need free toiletries, hairdryer tea and coffee . Bed and sleep quality good Reserved a table in the dining room for 28 . Food. (carvery) was good quality and plentiful . Will deffo stay again even if just a weekend break Although they do entertainment murder mystery night

Our party stayed here after a day out at Catton Hall. They laid on a bar and a massive meal for our party . We where maid to feel special and they provided us with numbers rooms of all different sizes to suit , the food was amazing and extra drinks where given after our meal, we went outside to see the beautiful view of Runcorn and Frodsham. Our party went to the main town for a night out , but when we got back to the hotel late they still looked after us, the breakfast was self serve and was all you can eat , The rooms are very clean and well looked after well worth a visit staff where accommodating for all our visit . I left items in room and staff posted them to us in Liverpool vaunt fault xxx

We stayed here for one night before walking the Sandstone Trail. It was the ideal place for us to stay as it is quite close to the trail, though a steep uphill walk from the train station. The room was comfortable and clean. There are lovely views out over the Mersey.

28 of us Stayed here 3/5 May to attend a wedding in the area. Excellent value for a excellent hotel . We all used all the facilities pool sauna steam room we were all super relaxed prior to family wedding .

the hotel was great, the facilities and restaurants were good as the people were very nice and very frendly. i also enjoyed the lesiure centre at the hotel wich meant i could spend more time with my family before the day ended. the hotel was placed in a very nice environment.

Frodsham afforded a convenient stop for a visit to nearby (20min) Chester Zoo. We were pleasantly surprised at the wooded hilltop location with extensive/dramatic views over the Mersey and wind farm. Plenty of parking, very welcome reception, large, bright comfortable room with coffee/tea making facilities, good TV and excellent shower/bath. A big bonus was the discovery of a huge indoor swimming pool and gym available to guests. Restaurant with same view is on site and lounges and conservatory available to relax. Would thoroughly recommend it and surprisingly historic Frodsham for those wishing to visit this area of the UK.

Handily placed not far from the M56 in a quiet location. Spectacular views across the Mersey estuary from the restaurant plus immaculately clean rooms - the bathroom was sparkling! Large car park. Restaurant OK but nothing out of the ordinary. Breakfast ditto.

We had our wedding here on the 23rd of March 2019 it was fantastic everything went smoothly the people that organised it did amazing job all our guests agree the cleanliness of all rooms was excellent the food was great we highly recommend this place and Tracy the wedding coordinator does an amazing job thank you.

We stayed here the night before flying out of Liverpool airport because it was good value for money and had all the leisure facilities so as we could relax and start our holiday early. We had a fantastic stay and despite a few problems with our room (bath tap not working and electricity went off) staff were quick to resolve the issue and very friendly and efficient. If we were in the area, we'd definitely stay again. Thank you

An unexpected gem - not the architecture or the food (which was fine, just not memorable) but the staff. Super helpful, very friendly and committed to customer service. When I found that I'd left cuff links at home, they made some up for me from the sewing kits!

Stayed a couple of nights on business. Lovely location and great views. Reception area roomy and bright. Includes Gym and Swimming pool for residents at no extra charge. Rooms are a little dated but decent size bed plus tea and coffee which so many similar hotel's have done away with. Several function rooms of varying size . Restaurant on site with great views across the River Weaver. Good ambience. All the staff were pleasant and friendly. Great value for a budget hotel.

I have just returned from this excellent hotel,during which I had a couple of minor problems caused by other inconsiderate staying guests.The staff were the best I have ever dealt with and the problems were resolved to my complete satisfaction.The room was very clean and had a balcony with excellent views of the surrounding countryside,which was stunning,the spa centre was very clean and extremely well maintained.All this came at a very reasonable price and I will definitely be returning to this wonderful Hotel.Thanks to all the Staff.

Overnight stay, room was clean, staff on reception very pleasant,pool area, jacuzzi basic but functional. Lovely grounds for a walk. Evening meal was OK as was breakfast, ran out of plates,sauce, staff in restaurant seemed a little inexperienced but hasn't put me off returning .

Food was diabolical and the room was stuck in the 70s. There was a carvery in which we heard 4 separate complaints about cold it was so we opted for the snack menu. I got pizza which had big chunks of dry hard chicken and my partner had a microwaved burger. Neither of us are fussy but we could hardly eat it! I booked it for my boyfriends birthday and was extremely disappointed.

I purchased groupon voucher for my mum as a treat for her birthday. Room clean and as expected, the real disappointment was the evening meal. Food was very poor, starter of prawn cocktail consisted of 2 lettuce leaves with tiny prawns and a dash of sauce, more sauce was requested which was brought to us again in a tiny dish. Main meal we both order pan fried chicken with roast new potatoes, bacon and cream corn, what we got was a piece of anemic chicken sliced in half on some boiled new potatoes with not a sight of bacon. We questioned the new potatoes and the waiter was going to check with the chef but we never saw him again. Pudding was OK. What inflamed the situation was the table next to us were obviously not on a groupon deal and received food which looked far superior to ours- surely despite the fact that this is a deal should not make the quality any different from other diners. Redeeming factor was the breakfast which was very good. Will not be booking any more birthday treats there- advise not to book a Groupon deal here.

Quiet location, views over the Mersey. Plenty of parking, pool warm but a bit crowded. Evening meal not great, breakfast ok but nothing special. Room was clean , decent sized but dated. This hotel is average and a bit overrated on this site imho.

Also forgot to mention no shower only a bath and a very strange bath some sort of a bubbly bath which you don't need when you're in a hotel Do you want some meat fast quickly you don't need to spend 10 minutes in the morning trying to work out how my bath works

Took Mum for lunch today as it was her 102 Birthday. Fantastic service and lovely food, the staff and chef made her day Thank you. We had a great view from the room over looking the Mersey and Liverpool.

Peaceful and relaxing. Clean Room and very spacious (Family room) Beautiful Views at breakfast with a nice selection of food to cater for all. The swimming pool and spa tub were lovely and warm which is amazing, we have young children so no blue lips after 5-10mins. The staff are really helpful and friendly and are a credit to the hotel.

Spotless room. They could think of upgrading the teeny tiny TV in the room. Comfy bed. Didn't think much of the dinner but breakfast was wonderful. Enjoyed a massage in the spa. All in all an enjoyable stay in a lovely location.

Hotel is spotless, the staff so helpful, smile on their face all the time, used the gym, brilliant, we went in the small one, which is used for classes, as it had everything we both like and use, the guy came and said we have the other room, but said you can use this one , long as we were happy, he even showed hubby around, and said your welcome to use any time, thank you , sorry don't know his name , we were there sat 9/03/19, great guy. Got our room which was lovely and clean, went for a lovely walk, oh my the views are worth a visit on their own, breath taking, used the bar in the afternoon, lovely lady, blond hair, and girl with blue hair, so so helpful, had meal in the evening, mine was great, had salmon, asked for it to be well done, beautiful, the lovely Irish girl looked after us, she did tell me her name, but can't remember it, she was fantastic, had a laugh with us earlier, you have it right, will definitely come again. Thank you.

This visit was a stopover with a friend do we could venture into Liverpool together, I'd actually won the stay as a prize. The first lovely surprise was the view from our twin room, straight over the estuary and we could see for miles. We didn't get to sample the evening meal, as it was only served between 7 and 9, and we were going out. The room was very clean and comfortable, with coffee making facilities, but the really lovely thing was the quietness, due to the peaceful hill top location. Breakfast was full English with buffet fruit as well, and freshly cooked eggs and toast offered, lovely, would recommend!

This is a lovely hotel set at the top of Frodsham with good size bedrooms, friendly staff, a fitness and leisure centre with pool. Breakfats is excellent, again with friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient for Chester and surrounding areas

Room ok,bathroom antiquated Gym not as advertised. Only one of each piece of equipment, rowing machine dodgy,has been hammered.no weight machine no air con like an oven in there!!! Evening meal where do I start-up - not as per pictures no presentation definitely not fresh looked as if rewarmed numerous times. quite inedible and tasteless the worst hotel food I have ever had. We weren't the only ones to complain only response was I'm sorry. Only decent thing was the coffee!! Staff seem disinterested! Feeling quite ill since eating food! Swimming pool sauna and steam room were ok. So disappointed as reviews for food were good and looking forward to a treat Save your money book elsewhere!

My sister was married here last weekend. I have to say that General Manager Kieran and his team went above and beyond in every way in respect of service food quality attention to detail and basically ensuring that the whole day went without a hitch. I really can't thank them enough. Extra Thankyou to Matt for all his help too. If you're looking for a quality venue with exceptional personal service then you should seriously consider booking here ...

We stayed at the Best Western Forest Hills hotel last weekend (Fri 22nd Feb - Sun 24th Feb), and were absolutely amazed at the customer service shown by all staff. There were 5 of us, including our 11 month old baby in two-rooms. The checking-in process was swift, and our table for dinner in the evening was booked at reception. The waiters at the restaurant were all superb, and we spent almost 3 hours in the restaurant enjoying our 3 course meal (we've never spent so much time in a restaurant)! The supervisor from New York (sorry, didn't get her name) was so friendly, and really gave us a warm welcome, especially as it was our daughters first proper holiday. The supervisor even went the extra mile by making a small special dish for our daughter, which was so kind of her. The swimming / sauna / etc were all clean and nice. The only very minor drawback of this hotel is that there are no lifts (staff available to help), and the rooms do not have air conditioning. We were very warm in the rooms, even with the heating off, but who would expect the need for a/c or fans in February!? Nonetheless, the rooms were spacious and clean. The staff on the second evening for dinner were just great too. The pre-set menu was the same, so we asked if we could substitute for snacks. Unfortunately Ellie wasn't sure and hesitated. However, upon speaking to a few staff, the head chef and Becky were again very helpful and accommodating. They just couldn't do enough for us, and we're ever so grateful for the hospitality shown - definitely recommend this and will try to visit again soon! 5* service! Thank you to all the staff, from the 4 of us (including our 11 month daughter)!

I had the pleasure of having my wedding at forest hills on Saturday, after nearly two years of planning I can honestly say the hotel staff from the first meeting until the day could not do more than enough for us. Tracey, Charlotte and Helen were amazing always there to help with any questions or bridezilla moments I can't thank them enough. On the day Kieran was just amazing completely took over all the stress I was under and made me feel amazing and so relaxed, he catered to every little detail (even cleaned my muddy heels) not just for the bride and groom but for family and friends and everyone was singing your praises Kieran so thank you so so much for making our day so special. The bar staff were amazing especially one lady who I forget her name, so sorry but was from New York was fantastic. There are just to many names to mention but they were all very helpful and couldn't do enough for everyone. The food was excellent not one complaint from anyone even my kids who are so fussy were raving about it. Rooms are clean and the pool and spa is amazing especially the month free pass before the wedding for the us and the kids to use was so enjoyable for all of us. I can honestly say the whole day was perfect so many beautiful memories have been made and that's through the hard work all staff put into making it so special. I had my perfect day, I felt like a princess and I know my family and friends will be returning, you have had so many excellent reviews from all of them. I look forward to my anniversary visit! Stayed here for valentines day. We were in a room with a balcony. We arrived early but we was able to use the steam sauna jacuzzi and swimming pool facilities until check in time, which worked out perfect for us because we had the afternoon to go out and explore before evening time. The facilities were spotless. Only thing was the heating was not warming up in room 216, and we mentioned this at reception. The receptionist said she will look into it. We requested a fan heater and was kindly given one straight away. The heater kept our room lovely and warm. We decided not to opt for the valentines meal but decided we would have a few drinks at the bar and then order from the snack menu, but when we went downstairs we was informed that we can sit in the lounge area with our drinks, and have our snacks there. Our only grumble is that the atmosphere was dull with no music or television on and that made us change our plans and go out for the evening... Which was quite disappointing as we wanted to try the chicken tikka masala dish out from the snack menu, but We ended up getting a taxi and went out for an Indian meal instead. We are booked into this hotel again in April, and we have requested the same room. We hope best western will take into consideration the comments from our review and make us give 5 stars next time. All in all we loved it. Beautiful setting :)

Stayed for one night with my husband on Valentine's Day. We booked via groupon, which included breakfast and 3 course evening meal. They had a set valentines menu which was excellent, loads of choice and the food was delicious. Glass of Prosecco on arrival too. The staff were wonderful, really friendly and attentive. Room service was great too. Rooms were comfortable and immaculate. All in all a fabulous stay and we will definitely return.

Hotel room very comfortable. The only problem with the celebration was we had to go out of the hotel entrance to go into the room where the celebration was held. This was because there was another party being held in the room before ours. As this was in January it was cold and dark and not very pleasant as a hotel guest. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is in pleasant grounds and has a panoramic view of Cheshire countryside.

Just had another AMAZING visit to our second home, we are always welcomed with open arms ,such wonderful staff and wow the new chief is fantastic , our meals were absolutely delicious, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough so relaxing and all the staff are so friendly nothing is to much trouble for them . The internet was terrible, and the food was under average, but the place is clean and friendly. Fordham is a small place but very nice, and the hotel is in the best place in the town. The view from the hotel restaurant is beautiful. The staff was friendly.

I stayed at the Forest Hills Hotel last weekend with my two teenage children. We had a lovely family room which was perfect for the three of us. The staff on reception and in the restaurant very polite and courteous. Overall a great place to stay if you're in the area.

This hotel is very good but they do not communicate very well and they have NEVER recognised me being a Elite rewards member. No upgrades or drink offered upon arrival. The last two visits have left us being forced to have a meal in the restaurant firstly VERY early and on this visit part of a Christmas "replay" night where there was a small fixed menu with very basic food. Other than going out for a meal (via taxi) we were forced to accept the situation. NOT very good at all, especially when the staff seem to have the attitude of "tuff s**t" which was shown the previous visit.We will stop there again but not soon........sadly.

My fiancé & I stayed here on a Saturday night in January. We had a lovely ground floor room with a double & single bed, well stocked tea tray, modern refurbished bathroom & a lovely view over the central courtyard & fish pond. We enjoyed using the leisure facilities here - large pool & jacuzzi, sauna & steam room. We attended the ‘Do It All Again' New Year's Eve event on 26 Jan, with a great 3 course meal and disco. We loved the Hill Tops restaurant & the amazing views over Merseyside from there. We also thought the food quality & service was great. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast the next morning, although it was a little chaotic, due to the high numbers of guests, with queues waiting for eggs at the hot food area in particular. The hotel has a great location, on Overton Hill, and has a large free car park. Overall, we had a great time here, and a fun party evening, and we thought that the value for money was excellent. We would definitely return.

We have just arrived home from a wonderful weekend at the forest hills hotel where we renewed our wedding vows. From start to finish Charlotte has been amazing she would answer all of my questions promptly, and was extremely helpful! Both bob and Kieran where fantastic on the night and the day before making sure that everything went smoothly...and it did!! The lady on reception (I didn't catch her nane) was very helpful and friendly when we had to ask for a few things. We will defiantly be returning!! And a huge thankyou to you all !!

At first I thought the sat nav had gone wrong as you drive up through narrow streets climbing up a steep hill then it all opens up and the hotel is in front of you. The view over Ellesmere port at night when it is all lit up is quite a sight

My first experience of being away from home for Christmas. It was a very positive one, as staying at Forest Hills was a most relaxing experience. I stayed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and home Boxing Day. A two day package, which was great value. The leisure facilities were a welcome bonus over Christmas. The meals were excellent, and the ‘light' buffet on Christmas Day evening was much more than substantial. I would definitely return.

Another great trip to Forrest hills. Excellent service, great pool,good location, value for money . A good place to escape to. The restaurant has Great views across the Mersey and North West from the hotels elevated position, plus the staff are 1st class.

Lovely welcome, friendly staff and nothing too much trouble! Beautiful Christmas decorations adorned throughout all the public areas of the hotel.3 course Christmas dinner was delicious except for my gluten free chocolate desert which was very disappointing (very dry and hard). Fantastic singers who doubled up as DJs and there was a great atmosphere. Buffet breakfast the next day was gorgeous. Room okay; perfectly functional and clean but was more suitable for less able guests as there was a high presence of pull cords and grab handles! Made hubby and our friends laugh! Nice to know though they provide this service for less-able guests. Would definitely return and recommend to others too.

The best gym in the local area by far, the staff here made me feel so welcome that I looked forward to coming in to train. Pt sessions are available and advice is offered as part of your membership at any time inclyding diet advice and pratical training advice. The facilities are extensive with plenty of room to train for both weight training and cardio. I have also loved the use of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi on site. Special thanks to Tim, Martyn and James for all your ongoing help with my training.

Stayed over the Christmas period, room was clean and comfortable, staff were very good, breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately I haven't given it 5 stars as my wife was unable to access the shower and we were unable to get a blue badge parking space

We decided to stay over as we had been to watch footie and visit relatives for Christmas. Price was very good.We also paid to have brekkie .Oh my God the room was sooo hot! We tried to turn the radiator down but then all of a sudden it went off and it sounded like someone was banging on the pipes making a clack cacking noise for 10 minutes as it cooled down! The room remained boiling all night and I couldnt sleep! So I decided to open a window, we had to close it as the person in the room next door was having a smoke of something "pungent" out of their window!! As it was very late by now, past midnight we didnt get there until 11pm we decided to just try to go to sleep but it was just too hot! I think we were in an old part of the hotel with a peach coloured bathroom! The shower was very stiff and took me a while to turn it as it wasnt clear which bit you had to turn! The room was lovely and clean and there were lovely towels! Bed was so comfy, but noise in the corridor does tend to wake you up. Brekkie in the morning is served from 8am - 10am and was really good ; veggie sausages were available but we didn't have them as the tomatoes, beautifully poached eggs, mushrooms, toast and beans were lush! Staff were effiecient and friendly! The mini croissants were warm and fresh! We couldnt see the views as the morning was all low cloud and misty.

Stay here for work a couple of times a year . Good size rooms which some now have updated bathrooms . Bed comfy and room clean. Towels on the small side . Staff friendly . Breakfast basic . Overall pleasant stay .

My wife and myself stayed for one night for a Christmas party evening. The hotel is quite large with ample parking and located immediately next to the Sandstone Trail which is a really nice walk. The food is quite average but Christmas nights do not always provide an accurate view of the normal food service. The room was reasonable but the bathroom was like going back to the 1960's with a peach coloured suite. The sink was cracked and the bath was just old. With a hotel of this standard the bathrooms really need ripping out and something far more acceptable to todays standards fitted. The staff were pleasant but very busy. Drinks expensive, as you would expect. All in all it's not bad but it does need some money depending to bring the rooms up to date.

This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel and so time to write a review. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and pristine clean. I had a room with a shower rather than a bath, which suits me, but you may need to specify when booking. Service was really efficient. I ordered room service which was there in a trice and the sauvignon blanc was particularly nice. I think the menu was limited, but the burger I ordered was very tasty. I will definitely be visiting again soon

i am not one who usually partakes in any form of social media, but feel compelled to comment on what i witnessed today. I was at the hotel for a Christmas meal. What I witnessed on the next table was unbelievable. I do not know who the diners were. One customer politely asked about a refund as her husband could not attend as their son had had surgery.A female staff member came over to speak to her and was unbelievably rude, quoting terms and conditions that entitled her to nothing.The customer raised the point that she had notified the hotel the day before and been told they would cancel the order with the chef. The waitress went away to speak to someone. She came back and bluntly told the customer cancelling yesterday wasn't good enough. The customer did raise her voice once when the waitress tried to get her to move away to discuss it and she said "no everyone else wanted to know the outcome".The customer asked to see the Manager and I am furious at what happened. The Manager came and instead of speaking calmly to the the customer said that the waitress had said she was abusive, NO NO NO!!! she was not and as a Business Man myself I know you never deal with a customer like this.The customer correctly spoke of not delivering goods or services. Whilst she may not have quoted chapter and verse on the law she was right. If a customer was booked for an installation and had to cancel the date, I don't send a bill for goods and a days work that did not take place! You cannot either. In my opinion your terms and conditions are void in law. The Manager then said if you had been polite i would have given you a refund. Such bad customer service. Eventually saying it was to shut her up. Good on you customer you were right and never leave your witnesses to discuss in a dark corner.I was so aggrieved having been witness to the rude waitress that if the Manager had not relented i was going to step in, If the waitress had been an employee of mine I would have been thinking time for a Warning or P45. Whoever you are i still think you should report this to Best Western and certainly in this instance you deserve an apology. If you want my advice, don't come to this place and expect to be treated reasonably, quite clearly the General Manager has no idea of customer service, and neither do most of his staff, they just want to take your money. I'm never coming here again. Disgusting behavior.

Really enjoyed the Speciality evening held last night. We have now attended several of these evenings, and they have all been very good. The food and wine was once again, excellent. We were lucky enough to have a table in the window, so had a lovely view of the estuary. Our room was lovely and clean, perhaps a little too warm, but opening a window seemed to solve that. All staff without exception were polite and happy. The girls at Breakfast were run off their feet, but still managed a smile. Kieron has an excellent team of staff. We would recommend Forest Hills and no doubt we will be returning.

From the moment we entered we was greeted with a friendly smile from the reception staff.... our room was beautiful and very clean... The restaurant and very friendly staff served amazing al la cart food.... The restaurant is beautiful with views of the Eustury of Merseyside and Halton.... Stayed here overnight last Friday with my daughter to rest whilst having a couple of days shopping in Chester & Cheshire Oaks. First impressions of our room where not bad, clean and tidy but in need of some updating, but for one overnight rest it was fine....... Did I say REST !!!! it was far from it. When were arrived there was a wedding going on in the main restuarant so was told dining there would be in a side room which was ok and we had a lovely meal in there, but then things went down hill for the rest of the night. The room they gave us was only a short distance from the restaurant where the wedding was going on so we could hear the disco going on till late in the night, but worse than that, our room was surrounded by the guests to the wedding and all night long into the early hours there were doors being banged shut, people running up and down the corridor, people stopping and having a chat in the corridor outside the rooms. The room next door to us someone was knocking continuosly to be let in at 2am in the morning, then because there was an adjoining door between our rooms we could hear them talking, and so it went on and on. Why on earth we were given a room in the same section as the wedding party I don't know??? we should have been given one well away from there or even on a different floor. Surely this would be common sense or was it a matter of you booked via a gift voucher so tuff ??? Next day myself and my daughter were drained and knackered which put a downer on our Christmas day out that day. Oh and by the way, take your own pillows, the ones on the bed were so lumpy. Will definately advise friends not to stay here.

Took 40 people here for a Bridge weekend and the service and food was excellent. A fantastic view from the room and the staff worked really hard to make sure we had an excellent stay. The room was warm,stylish and very comfortable. Jean Chinn M.B.E

My daughter had a wonderful 13th birthday party at Forest Hills. The children had great fun in the good sized swimming pool for hours. The staff were very efficient, and they couldn't do enough for us. The afternoon tea was lovely and fresh, and the attention to detail was excellent. I recommend a visit.

Held a company conference there last week. Good facilities and great 2 course lunch as part of the package. Room was was well set up with tea/coffee/bacon sandwich as part of the deal. Staff were very efficient and helpful.

Stayed a few times of late whilst on business. Can't fault ..hotel and staff are all superb. Has a great pool facility with sauna and steam etc all very clean and adequate. Ample parking quiet location adequate Wi-Fi throughout. Rooms of good size clean and quiet...exceptional value..would always return

I've stayed here before will attending a variety of functions, from start to finish staff helpful professional. Room was spacious clean.The location is a little isolated but perfect. The Dining room has some lovely views and of an evening lights up beautiful.

Second time I've stayed here. Fantastic rooms and food. Staff really friendly. Good choice for business or leisure. Also has gym facilities but I haven't used them. Frodsham centre is nice with some decent pubs.

The hotel sits in splendid isolation on top of a hill with magnificent views of the Rivers Weaver and Mersey from the dining room windows, with Liverpool and the Dee and Mersey estuaries seen in the distance. The lobby is spacious and our room, a family room, was large and spacious with a large, comfortable double and two large singles as well as table, settee (a bed settee incidentally), and two comfortable chairs. The room was clean, the lighting good and the bathroom was modern and well-appointed with a generous amount of towels for myself and my wife and two grandchildren. We ate in the dining room in the evening where the food was good quality, well-cooked and presented and there was a decent children's menu. The stars though were the staff who were brilliant, looking after our young grandchildren and treating them as honoured guests. At breakfast we were given a table in the window with that wonderful view and again the children wanted for nothing – not that we were ignored, the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We did not get round to the swimming pool, spa or fitness room but elsewhere everything we saw in the hotel looked in good order and well cared for, If there was a gripe, the internet signal in our room was not the best. It was there but a little shaky so, as the phone signal was good, I used a MiFi router instead, so it was not a problem. Apart from that niggle there were no complaints, the price, including breakfast, was excellent – children are free incidentally. It is a superb hotel and I will happily stay there again with or without my grandchildren. The location makes it a good spot for nearby places such as Cheshire Oaks, Chester, or, in our case, Chester Zoo

Stayed in this hotel for three nights while on business in the area. Great location and I was able to get in and out of Manchester and Liverpool city centres very easily. Plenty of parking at the hotel and set in a quiet location with views over the Mersey. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. I used the gym and sauna every day and the staff there were also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I will definitely be staying there again.

Room was lovely. Immaculate. Couldn't complain the staff were very friendly reception staff and restaurant staff. Parking available easy to find .could find a better hotel price was reasonable to breakfast lovely and not expensive

We had a great experience at this hotel over the August Bank holiday. Our friends had their wedding ceremony and evening reception at this hotel. The service everyone received was fantastic and all the staff at the hotel made their wedding exceptional. This hotel has great amenities for families of all ages and the room we stayed in was excellent. I would like to say a special thankyou to Kieran who organised our friends special day.

I did my last delivery of the day and looked around for a Hotel, Not too far from Chester with decent parking and handy for the Motorway in the morning, I hit the Jackpot... Lovely Hotel with a fantastic view of the Mersey from my bedroom window, (If you Golf this is the place for you) ... Very good staff nothing too much trouble. My room was a fair walk but not too difficult, the decor of the Hotel is very good, the room was Large and very comfortable all the amenities worked fine. I had a meal in the Hotel and it was very good (Lamb that melted in the mouth), a good selection on the menu and very reasonable, the Breakfast in the morning was a Buffet and lots to choose from.. I will definitely stay here again... Work and Leisure

I have to admit that we were expecting an average experience at this hotel, but it exceeded our expectations in every way. We received a warm welcome and all staff were friendly and keen to help us. The evening meal was excellent in both quality and quantity and the serving staff coped professionally with a large group of us. Breakfast was self-service and we were free to enjoy as much as we wanted of the outstanding range of cooked and fresh food on offer. Our bedroom and en suite bathroom were warm, immaculately clean. The bed was firm but comfortable. The room had clearly been refurbished and was in excellent condition. (Some other members of our group had older rooms, but they still remarked on their cleanliness and, to the best of my knowledge, also shared our positive opinion of this place.) My wife and I wouldn't hesitate to return here.

Our group more or less took up the whole hotel for our event. The staff & management could not do enough for us & our event ran as smoothly as any we've held. Big thank you to all the staff &-to Helen for all her pre-event help. We enjoyed it so much, we've already booked to go back in 2020!!

I found a large piece of paper in my dessert. I pointed this out to the restaurant staff but received no apology. I was told that by chocolate brownie had been baked on greaseproof paper. I will not be visiting Forest Hills again.

Been using their gym for over 8 years- all the equipment is old ALOT broken, the step climbers don't work properly and haven't in at least a year, only one of the elliptical trainers works correctly, one of the treadmills is always out of order and then the weight machines upstairs- non of the screens work many have tape on them because they have been used so much and not updated!!!! AND THEY ARE PUTTING UP THE MEMBERSHIP PRICES with no renovations or updated equipment and a jacuzzi that hasn't been working for weeks!!! APPAULING from management and they are losing a lot of members in the next few months including me!!!

Stayed here last night for work purposes. Easy to find, loads of parking and all the staff are friendly throughout. Had a bar meal that was excellent value and very good but had to wait until 6pm as no chef in until then. Breakfast was decent but not great so overall 4/5 and will stay again

We spent one night at the Best Western and were very pleased with the hotel. The reception staff were helpful and welcoming, although the restaurant staff (evening meal and breakfast) were not as forthcoming! Our room on the first floor was clean and had all amenities as required. However, we needed to ask for a second set of bathroom towels but this was quickly remedied. We had a snack evening meal which was fine. Breakfast was good although the mixed chopped fruit of plums, oranges and mostly apples was rather bland. It wasn't easy to locate the exit to the terrace for taking photos of the Mersey and Liverpool in the distance but the bar gentleman was most helpful in showing us the way! We discovered the Frodsham Memorial walk further down the hill from the hotel, about 10 minutes to the memorial through the iron gates. This afforded a stunning view of the Mersey etc and was well worth the extra time and effort. We enjoyed our stay and would revisit should we ever come to the area again.

Well we got the best seat in the house today. The rain was lashing down so we thought a bar snack was just the thing. If the bar food is anything to go by then a la carte will be amazing! Lovely views over the Mersey. So far so good!

Set in a lovely quiet location. Attentive friendly staff. No frills, good value for the price paid. There is a need for some modernisation, but it could not be faulted too much as everything was very clean

Stayed here for 1 night,on first impressions, rooms could do with an update, they look dark and dated. The staff were helpful and friendly, check in was efficient and informative. We were part of a wedding party, the food at the wedding breakfast was all very tasty. Quality of sleep was poor as there was a loud banging/clanging noise that went on all night. As if there was a generator of some sort firing up every 10 minutes, just outside of the room The breakfast buffet in the morning was a bit of a shambles. We were seated by lady who gave the impression she was the manager. We were seated and asked if we would like toast/tea/coffee and asked to help ourselves to the buffet. Lots of tables were dirty and needed clearing, the buffet was not well stocked and service was slow. The staff at breakfast looked stressed and "pulled out" which seemed odd as the restaurant was not busy. Slow service aside, the food was once again very tasty and I was very happy to see mar-mite available (not many buffets have it!!)

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel just for the family room. Not many hotels seem to do this. A quite large room with two single beds, a double and a bed settee. Perfect for even slightly larger families. Even has a fridge! This was the first time we actually booked breakfast and it was well worth it. The best thing about breakfast is you have your eggs cooked to order then help yourself to bacon sausage, tomatoes etc. Very friendly helpful staff who gave me a quick geography lesson on what could be seen through the enormous windows (Liverpool, river Mersey, Ellesmere Bridge etc).

Lovely room, quiet location on top of the hill looking out over the valley. Pool for the kids and gym which was pretty basic. Breakfast good choice of everything. Good location for all attractions, plenty of parking.

Stayed here for 2 nights with family. Teenager and toddler. Room was big with double 2 singles and a sofa bed. Room was clean and had bath and shower. Used snooker room for a game. Used pool a few times and both kids enjoyed it. There is a smaller children's pool, hot tub sauna and steam rooms. Food- had a bad snack and it was nice Breakfast was standard Buffett We went out to local restaurants too. Staff friendly and helpful. Bar / reception areas clean and comfortable seating. Wi-Fi good. Would stay again

Great location in a very nice town. The facilities are good. Nice gym and pool. Staff are very friendly but the rooms are unbearable at night. The heat is unreal. None of us got a single decent nights sleep. Such a shame and spoilt what should have been a great trip.

Lovely hotel, tucked away at the top of the hills overlooking the Cheshire Plains. The hotel has a number of useful amenities and breakfast is great value for money. A few of these amenities, gym equipment and bathrooms need updating, but nothing too drastic. Certainly recommend a stay here.

This is an excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit. Great location with access to the historical city of Chester, Liverpool City Centre and amazing views from Frodsham Hill.

I went to this hotel during a Kirbys holiday. The room had a comfortable bed and the bathroom had a powerful shower. The hotel meals were of good quality and staff friendly, breakfast was buffet and dinner waiter served. The hotel is on the top of a hill, so walking to the town is not an option as roads have no footpath. The hotel has a leisure centre. There are good views of the river Mersey estuary. Recommended.

The hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings and has breath taking views. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space. The dining room was welcoming as was the reception area. The food was good and the staff friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic weekend and would definitely visit again,

We stayed one night while in Frodsham visiting a relative. The hotel is definitely showing signs of age, but the staff more than make up for this with cheerful and efficient service. We booked thinking that since the website stated air conditioning (we stayed during the horrible heatwave with temperatures in the low 90s) so were dismayed to find out that while the public areas are air conditioned, the bedrooms are not! We were given fans, but this did little to alleviate the hot room and we barely slept. The huge windows overlooking the Weaver only opened a mere 3" at the very top and were useless. To add insult to injury, the air conditioning from the public hallway came in under the closed door to the sauna on our side. It was temping to leave the room door open to the corridor just to have a little bit of cool air! It wasn't until I wrote a review to the Best Western complaining about the lack of a/c or opening windows, that the manager Mr. McCabe personally wrote to say that the windows are banded for safety reasons, hut had I asked, they could have been opened. In fairness, when I told the front desk how hot it was in the room and they offered fans, that would have been a good time to inform me of the option to open the windows! However, aside from the hot room, I was very pleased with our stay. We ate dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed a good meal with fresh, well-prepared ingredients along with good service - despite the restaurant being quite busy. We also had the included breakfast in the morning, and again, were very pleased with the buffet set-up along with the fresh eggs cooked to order. Service was quick and cheerful. Should our travels bring us back to Frodsham, I would choose to stay here again -- especially knowing the windows do open upon request! We didn't have the opportunity to use the pool or spa, as we were mostly on the go, but this is a lovely amenity for guests.

Didn't stay at the Hotel but it was lovely and clean Went for Lunch 08/08/2018 It was a 2 course lunch - although the restaurant was quiet the two ladies on duty were very pleasant - my Husband is Gluten Free which they fully understand which is reassuring. We enjoyed a wonderful meal and will return again

Booked in for a one night stay on Monday 6th August 2018. All seemed ok. Went out for food and once came back to hotel room which was 98 situated bang next to the car park, for 2 constant hours (half 10 ish to half 12 ish) they were what can be described as boy racers with what I'm semising as under age girls in and out of the car park. They where really loud and disrespecptul for the hotel guests. Have to question why would kids be going down side of the hotel at that time of night. Read reviews and it seems it's been going on for years so God knows why it hasn't been dealt with already. Ended up leaving the room and hotel and had a two hour drive to complete at 1am in morning.

Overall the hotel requires a major upgrade looking shabby throughout. Our room had a balcony, no furniture on it though. Not air-conditioned but could sleep with the balcony door open which as it was so hot we had to do. Would have been nice to have some bottled water and glasses in the room. Bed and bedding was extremly comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly except for one; more to follow. Beautiful vantage point to watch the sunset and a lovely close short walk to a WW1 memorial to local men with superb views across the Mersey and over toward the North. Only meals eaten there were breakfasts which were excellent, staff happy to do more eggs as required and a good choice of food. Had a late large breakfast party for family the day after a funeral (the reason for our stay) before we all went seperate ways. Staff could not have been more kind or considerate. Post family breakfast we were told by staff that our non resident family could have free use of the pool area with the resident family members as we'd had breakfast for 10. However on going through to the spa, one staff member, Diane didn't believe us at the spa desk and made it very obvious that she thought we were trying to get non residents in for free (2 adults and 2 children). Even though Tim, a senior staff member said that it was ok and overrode her, unfortunately Diane persisted in her questioning and quibbling and made us all feel very uncomfortable, my newly widowed cousin, her mum and brother were close to tears the 2 little girls who'd just had to attend their father's funeral the day before were, despite trying to protect them very aware and upset and needed a lot of reasurance. Eventually Diane walked away from the desk with a face that hid nothing of what she felt without speaking to us further. I waited until the rest of the family had gone to change and went back to speak to Tim and explain why we were there and why we'd been allowed to have free use for the non residents which I really felt I shouldn't have needed to do. Tim could not have been more helpful and reassuring. I believe that Diane was possibly behind a screen so would have heard my conversation, either way I feel that she would have been informed of what I said by the time we left yet on leaving the spa area and handing her my used towel, giving her ample time and opertunity to say something to me she chose to remain silent except to say I could leave the towel with her, without a smile. Not the customer service I expect nor would I think that the hotel would do either. Obviously a communication problem but the non confrontational way would be to allow a family of 4 ladies, 1 man and 3 children in to use the facilities and then to go corroborate their story. If we were telling lies as Diane made us feel we were, then we would have easily been found wearing not a lot in the pool and she could have charged for it's use. We were hardly going to run away! 4 of us were residents. Pool/sauna/jacuzzi used, steam room out of action. Tim came and checked that we were all ok a number of times and couldn't have been kinder and apologetic making us feel welcome and at ease.

I was disappointed when we entered the hotel, as the public areas aren't particularily welcoming or nicely firnished. Gave the impression of being a business persons stopover place than a nice place to spend time. Some of the chairs and sofas were well worn, to be flattering, grubby looking, some were newer. But the whole effect was unappealing. The reception staff were ok, nothing special. Although one slightly more mature lady was more impressive later on in our stay. The room was fine, standard furniture, nice table and chairs. Very nice pool, really enjoyed my time in it. However, the heating was on 24/7 in the room, pool and gym. The comment by management to another reviewer who had stated they'd been boiling in their room, was to say that the heating wasn't on, wasn't true. There is a large pipe (we were in room 212) running the entire length of the room, too hot to touch, on all the time we were there. The staff were aware of it, said that no room had air conditioning, the hot pipe was for the hot water for showers etc. They knew about the pipe roasting the rooms, and lent us a fan. So, it was massively in addition to the ambient temperature, and we only suvived by having the window open all night, fully into the toom, the fan on full, and put wet towels over ourselves. Even so, we didn't sleep well. Why, like every other hotel, do you not insulate and box in the hot water pipes so it doesn't affect the rooms? The radiator being off doesn't mean the room isn't being heated!!! Also the gym, which we had looked forward to using was stiflingly hot, so impossible to use. Much hotter than any of the other public rooms, so it wasn't just the warm weather. And no-one was using it, so it wasn't that either.

Had a pleasant stay for a couple nights here, Shame the jacuzzi was not working. Staff in the hotel were extremely helpful on reception and in the restaurant. Was a little disappointed with the food hence the average review. The room itself was extremely clean on arrival and upon return following a long day out. Quilts are wonderful for winter months but really do require summer thin quilts this time of year,

We had our golden wedding anniversary party here on Saturday. We had a trio and the restaurant was a perfect setting for this. Fabulous views, a very generous buffet, pleasant attentive staff all helped to make a wonderful evening. All our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Stayed in executive room 106 and was very impressed with the room. Very clean, lovely views out of window and rabbits playing outside. Jacuzzi and shower in the bathroom was a lovely surprise as didn't realise the room had a jacuzzi. The staff where lovely and helpful and made us feel welcome at the hotel. Didn't get around to dining there or using leisure facilities but from what I have heard they are also spot on. Would highly recommend and will be back in the near future.

For golfers this is the place to stay on the Wirral. A very comfortable stay with good facilities and friendly staff. Near by is Delamere Forest GC (a gem with a green fee of only £75) as well as other well known courses such as Royal Liverpool and Wallasey which are about 40 mins drive away on the motorways.

Quite difficult to find the signs for the hotel disappear when you leave the main road. Lovely sitting with excellent views. Hotel a little dated & could probably do with modernising but saying that we had a very comfortable stay & everything was very clean. Staff very nice at reception, restaurant & health club. Breakfast very enjoyable with a good selection & service. Swimming pool very good & changing facilities very clean. Would stay again.

This hotel is amazing the leisure centre is very good all my family enjoyed it . The staff are all verry nice and the rooms are lovely the food was very good this hotel I will be back to very soon.....

Just returned from the forest hills in Frodsham what can I say it's like a home from home the staff are great Elaine in the dining room and all her staff especially Shirley are so very welcoming Elaine and her staff on reception are wonderful always a wonderful welcome. The housekeeping staff are amazing nothing to much trouble for them, Kieran and his lovely wife should be so proud of them all . What a pleasure to stay in this hotel. The staff were all courteous and helpful with a ready smile. Receptionist Katherine was mithered the most but was always ready to help. Great leisure facilities and food. The views are stunning but the hotel is on a hill.

The hotel itself, staff, location were fab, no complaints, clean friendly and very welcoming. The air conditioning in the rooms needs looking at, we had a sleepless night mostly due to the heat, but when you got too hot to sleep you turned the air conditioning on and couldn't sleep due to the sound of the fan. There was some issue with eggs at breakfast, you had to request how you wanted your eggs cooking ( boiled fried etc...) which was a nice touch, however, I had finished eating the breakfast by the time the eggs were ready, why can't you just cook a lot of eggs (like most hotels do) and let people help themselves? However, don't let my picky observations put you off, I would gladly return.

Just completed another fabulous gym class at FH and feel super motivated to smash it again next week. I have attended all of the huge range of classes on offer, from dance style fitness, or high intensity circuits, right through to peaceful yoga. In my positive experience the instructors are welcoming and knowledgeable. They create a fun and inclusive atmosphere in which I want to leave my comfort zone and move on to the next fitness level. Really pleased to see FH are now embracing sustainability with paper cups in the water machines.

The hotel is in a lovely location looking out over Runcorn close by and Liverpool in the distance. Food fine, rooms grand but the really important thing is the super-friendly and helpful staff. Our group had problems trying to accommodate a visiting American speaker and family and, although there was no room at the hotel because of a wedding, they helped us find an alternative set of rooms, delayed lunch until our speaker arrived and all in all did a fantastic job. Thank you Forest Hills!

Hotel satisfactory and staff welcoming and helpful. Room was fine and had fantastic views over the estuary towards Liverpool. If your room doesn't get the views, then eat in the restaurant which has the same. Nice short walk to the war memorial - views again! - don't walk back to the road as there is a short cut from the hotel. I used the pool and we both used the gym - good experience.

Stayed here as members of a party from Lymington. Lovely room overlooking the estuary. Clean and comfortable. Couldnt fault the food really (apart from the chewy roast beef) it was all lovely, and huge portions. Once I had told a waitress about my two food allergies, they were great for the rest of the four nights, checking on everything I had ordered, AND they remembered which is unusual in itself. Great staff, friendly and smiling all the time. Everyone in our group of 39, as far as I know, was impressed with this hotel. Thank you to Kieran and all his staff.

stayed last night 17th june had bar meal burger bun came out without burger no mayo on blt my wife had bacon cold no buffet breakfast also kept awake all night with barking dog in room opposite last thing you need before 320 mile drive home left tired was not impressed

We stopped overnight at this gem as we were attending a wedding. The hotel is in a great location, with lovely views of the Cheshire countryside from its elevated position in the hills above. The room was clean and comfortable. The wedding set up was lovely and the food hot and really nice, The spa is also really good and well worth visiting. The staff are really helpful, and went the extra mile for us when we accidentally left a few things in our hotel room when we left. Our overnight stay was very relaxing and I recommend this hotel. It is a really good venue if you are looking to book a wedding reception or a relaxing short break..

I have just stayed here for 2 nights whilst on business. The hotel is in a quiet location with great views. Friendly staff and good sized rooms. I had trouble with a guest staying in the room next door who decided at 1:30 am it would be a good idea to play music on his mobile. This was no fault of the hotel and the night supervisor managed to get him to turn it off after 30mins. Shame it takes 1 Inconsiderate idiot to ruin the stay. If I am working in the area again I will book again.

I got married in the Forest Hills Hotel in 2014 & we try to return at least once every year. The wedding was organised well by the staff & we all couldn't thank them enough for their care on the day. On every visit the staff are friendly & welcoming. Plus the rooms are always tidy & cosy. We've never had any issues with our stay. The pool is always a bit chilly but that's ok when you have the lovely hot tub at the side to dip into!

Arrived late afternoon for three night stay. As soon as my husband pulled back the duvet he said it reeked of stale sweat. Did not want to make a fuss and it was late so slept on top of duvet first night. Told reception following morning and they changed the whole bed. Came back that day from nice day out only to find the toilet would not flush (nothing to do with us as it worked inefficiently when we left). Called down to reception and a manager came out to look at it.No maintenance available (too late) so offered another room but two 70+ pensioners came for a rest and did not want to pack up and move at that time of night so had to go outside to a disabled toilet all night. Other minor things like noisy kettle that won't fit under the tap and bedside lamp not working which I otherwise would accept but together irritated. When toilet supposedly repaired in our pink 70s bathroom it flushes but handle still not as it should be. Complained to the manager and was offered a fifty pound discount. As I have studied law I know I could go further with this but I am just happy to be leaving.

Came here with my partner for our friend's wedding and it is clear why they chose it. The location is super with a great view out the back and ideal for photographs. We stayed two nights in an executive room. The room was a good size with a double shower but it was hot day and night! For a weekend when the weather was mid-twenties it was a shame the staff said they couldn't control the heating - it was too hot to sleep. Our friends chose the room for us so we were surprised when we got the bill to be faced with so many ‘supplementary' additional costs. We ate in the restaurant the night before the wedding and the food was pretty good, wine a decent price.

Checked in and the lady on the front desk offered an upgrade (i'm a platinum rewards member but rarely does this happen). Room (222) was a lovely large room, great views, robes, slippers etc. Restaurant had quality classical dishes (not many burger & chips, lasagne etc.) and service was great with more than enough serving staff (makes a change from other hotels) who had the time to converse with diners who wanted to (but left those of us who didn't alone). Definitely recommend.

We had our wedding at this hotel in May and we honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff are superb- very well-led by Kieran- and they can never do enough to help, whilst maitnaing 100% professionalism. The wedding organiser, Tracey, was regularly in contact and as a consequence, the day couldn't have gone any better. Even for two quite pedantic people with exacting standards! Our family and friends were thrilled with the accommodation and food on offer. The restaurant is excellent and the 130 people being accommodated throughout the next day did not compromise the qualiry of food (we had a lot of ‘foodies' there too!) Every time we go, we have a wonderful experience. Thank you, Forest Hills.

We held a charity ball at the Forest Hills on Sat 12th May - from our initial booking right through to the fantastic evening we had, the staff were amazing at every level. Nicole and Tracey from Conference and Events always responded so helpfully and quickly to every question and amendment we had (and there were many). Assistant Manager Bob was a star in re-configuring the room layout and table plans to reflect our growing numbers, and on the actual day was still helping us out with our last minute changes and solutions, Elaine who ran the waiting on teams on the night was really efficient, and Hotel Manager Kieran was on hand all evening to help out. The waiting on team worked so hard to serve 140 guests a wide variety of food options (all of which were generous portions and tasty) as fast as they possibly could, always courteous and polite. A great night was had by all, but it was made so much easier and pleasant because of the great team at the hotel for whom nothing was too much trouble. We booked a room to stay over - and couldn't believe the size of our family room. Would highly recommend for both a function and accommodation. Thanks Forest Hills, hope you read this and pass on our thanks to all involved.

This hotel is in a beautiful and useful position. it appears that the management have gone out of their way to create a relaxing and friendly ambiance for their visitors. In doing this they have found friendly staff. This is good, but a little more professionalism in some would add lustre to the experience.

Stayed here for one night in May 2018. Room wasn't ready when we arrived but to be fair we arrived very early. We went off to visit family and returned later. Our room was huge with a double bed and two extra beds so great for families! Good facilities, tea, coffee (although never enough milks or tea bags) so bring extra. Hair dryer, fridge, tv. Breakfast wasn't included in the price but I had a full English and it was lovely. Restaurant had a lovely view so made it even nicer. Very nice waitresses and very attentive. All in all worth a visit and if you are there for a couple or more nights take a costume as there is a swimming pool too!

We stayed as part of a coach party, arrived on Sunday afternoon. Greeted by Duty Manager, Bob and a cheerful band of staff to take all our cases to our rooms. Lovely first dinner, choice of 3 starters, mains and desserts as party. Something to please everyone! An absolutely fantastic view atop the hill, from the restaurant, all the way across the Mersey to Liverpool. Breakfast next morning very hearty, bags of choice, again, something to suit all, Full English, buffet style, and plentiful. This was repeated throughout our stay. The receptionists, waiting staff, bar staff and the managers were all happy, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. A very enjoyable stay in a spacious, comfortable room with a bath and shower over. The hotel was generally busy, which must say something fore its popularity. A great location, quiet, peaceful and highly recommended!

Stopped for a couple of nights. We were warmly welcomed. Our room was clean and comfortable. Couple of minor hiccups straightened out virtually immediately. This hotel is highly recommended if you're in the area

Although the outside appearance of this hotel is not the best, the friendly staff, caring service and amenities make this a pleasant stay for a business trip. The room and bed was comfortable as well.

Located in the beautiful countryside of Cheshire, this hotel is the epitome of peace and serenity. Stayed with my mother in a twin room. Room was spotless however the design was a bit dated and not modern. Lovely view of the countryside from our window. We used the gym pool and spa facilities all of which were very good. I particularly enjoyed the sauna. The restaurant for our evening meal was again a bit dated, and the design really wasn't modern at all, it was like jumping 30 years back in time..however I couldn't really complain as it was all very clean and hygienic. We had an issue with my meal, I asked for a medium rare steak and unfortunately my steak came out well done. We politely notified the restaurant staff who offered me another one, however this took a very lengthy amount of time..roughly 15-20minutes. By the time my steak had come out my mother had finished three quarters of her meal and she was eating slowly on purpose. We had already been to another restaurant that day called “wagamamas” where they bring the food out separately and there we ate at different times too so I didn't want to experience this situation again which I unfortunately had to as the wait was far too long. As a British citizen, and of royal heritage I have been brought up to follow British “dinner table etiquette” and the mistake prevented me from doing this. My mother said she felt like she was in a zoo exhibit having that feeling that she was being watched whilst eating, which deeply made me feel embarrassed. No mention of compensation or extras was mentioned which left me quite disappointed. That being said however, the steak was very nice and I was able to swap my fries for vegetables. The view was also incredible from our table where we spotted some bunny rabbits chasing each other which we found amusing. We had a brilliants night sleep and woke up feeling refreshed seeing what breakfast had to offer. There was an full English as well as continental and a selection of fruits and juices. We were asked if we wanted tea or coffee or eggs. I went for a couple of poached eggs which were delightful. The continental breakfast I had was good. Overall my stay was a good one, however little things like the dated decor and steak incident let the hotel down. I also noticed there was a room service tray which had been left in my corridor all night which unfortunately made the whole corridor smell of greasy food. My mother is a vegetarian and she was deeply saddened and distraught by having to witness bones and the remains of a killed and consumed animal in the corridor of a luxury hotel. I had to give her reassurance once in our hotel room and escort her down the corridor every time we walked past, in her own words “the Cheshire Carcass”. We checked out and it was a lovely surprise to see that my meal had not been charged onto our room and it was compensated for after all. What I would say as constructive criticism to the hotel, is that communication is everything. It clearly wasn't communicated to the chef that I ordered a medium rare steak and it wasn't communicated to me that we were getting compensation. I was originally going to write a 3 star review for this hotel but this kind gesture from the staff for their mistake and inconvenience brought it up to a 4.

Excellent stay for the price paid. Great welcome upon arrival. Lovely quiet hotel; so peaceful. Only thing that was ‘wrong' was it was during the heatwave and room was so hot because the window only opened an inch. Some lovely walks around the hotel. Didn't try the leisure club.

This must be the 20th time (at least) that I have stayed at this hotel (I stay a couple of times a year to meet up with friends). The last time we stayed in December 2017 I was disappointed because some revellers who had been at a wedding disturbed the whole hotel with their shouting and banging in the early hours. However, I put it down to bring a ‘one off' and we booked again for this weekend. However, once again we were all awoken again during the early hours by revellers shouting and banging round the corridors after an 80's party concluded. To top it off, this morning there was no hot water. Apparently there had been a power cut in the night so the boilers had gone off and there was no hot water. We were given an explanation but no apology or remedy. We are a group of more mature friends who meet twice a year to spend the weekend crafting together. This hotel has been great for that purpose for 10 years, but the last two visits have not been enjoyable. I want to come away to relax and catch up with friends. But today I am so tired I dread the drive home later. I have two more bookings this year with the hotel but I think it's time to look for an alternative venue. I understand the hotel needs maximum occupancy to operate, but perhaps consider placing non party guests at the end of corridors so they are not so easily disturbed.

Frodsham is tucked away in Cheshire. If you have to stay in this region you could do worse. the room was fine if dated, but the restaurant choice was very average and rather overpriced, not helped by items being 'off' after you ordered them at 7pm It does have a gym which is a bonus if you like to use the weights, and it is used by footballers round and about.

A big thank you to the staff at Forest Hills for making my daughters surprise baby shower such a lovely afternoon. The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was just right, comfortable and well laid out. Coffee and tea were unlimited, the afternoon tea was wonderful. A good selection of sandwiches cakes and scones. Chef please note, take the crusts off! A very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend.

Ultimate Finess classes now outdoors just in time for the glorious British summertime! It's a great cardio/strength blend circuits-type class. Not only is it a good workout (if you put the effort in) but it's a nice friendly class, with good team comradery! If your staying at the hotel, give it a go (regardless of your fitness levels)! Bathroom very dated and salmon coloured, reminiscent of the 70's (note there is a picture in the gallery taken by another guest) Dining experience very overpriced in restuarant and quality of food lacklustre at best. Breakfast also poor - items ran out mid service and had to wait for tables to be cleared. Eggs had to be cooked to order but scrambled eggs still arrived rubbery and overcooked as if they had been sitting around for too long somewhere in the kitchens. We will not be returning and will not be recommneding this hotel to our friends - not up to the usual standards of a BW Hotel. Poor at best :(

Stayed at this hotel recently. Room was nice and spacious, with multiple beds, ordinary DVB TV (not those locked-down hotel TVs), a few plug points and tea-making facilities. Only (very minor) negatives are the lack of air conditioning, and the bathroom looked tired and in need of refurbishment (was also strange that a groaning sound would be heard when the toilet was flushed). Other than that, room service was very fast and orderly, there's a big swimming pool accessible to residents and free wifi - crucially the wifi is encrypted. The area where the hotel is is in a picturesque countryside location, with the likes of Tesco and Morrisons less than 10 minutes away. Overall, quite a nice hotel - recommended.

Would have been 4 star rate but room 220 only had only one bedside light working and the bed was extremely noisy when ever you turned over. Uncomfortable mattress and an extremely small TV for the room size

Arrived at this attractive looking hotel on Easter Saturday there was plenty of parking available and were checked in by a very pleasant receptionist. Our room was on the ground floor and the view from our room was stunning we were looking down on the Mersey it is in a stunning spot. We paid £105.00 for two nights bed and breakfast so felt that we had a good deal. One king size bed and a small divan with a table and two comfortable easy chairs made the room very comfortable, tea and coffee tray with complimentary biscuits, and a decent sized television was impressive , the bathroom was light and airy so no complaints at all. Breakfast was nice the staff very attentive and smart, coffee and toast brought to the table and then it was buffet style help yourself to a full English or pastries and fruit etc absolutely superb service we were very impressed Sadly there was one bug bear the resteraunt in the evening was a la carte and we really did not want this type of meal apart from the fact it was rather expensive, we ate out the first evening but on the second night after a long day visiting Liverpool we asked the staff if we could order from the snack menu and still sit in the resteraunt, They were very accommodating and gave us a nice table by the window, my hubby ordered a pepperoni pizza and I ordered beef burger Chips and salad the meal arrived after about half an hour and looked very good indeed but when we started to eat it the pizza was stone cold and the burger bun had been just taken out of a fridge I think, the burger itself was stone cold but the chips to be fair were piping hot. the waitress was very apologetic and offered to put it right but I really had been put off I cancelled my meal and when the pizza came back after five minutes just a tad warmer,we had a nibble on a piece each and gave up after that. Very disappointed a great hotel like this cannot get its snack menu edible I wonder what their A la carte standards are like. We would stay again if we were in the area but defiantly wouldn't partake in an evening meal.

As we had to deliver some pictures to a gallery in Frodsham on the Sunday morning I booked a weekend stay at Forest Hills nearby. Our journey from the Forest of Dean took three and a half hours so we were looking forward to relaxing once we'd checked in. Our first floor room was clean and fresh as was our bathroom. Although it was a little small compared to other recent hotel visits. I'd already booked a table for dinner when I made the original hotel booking so we relaxed until it was time to get changed for dinner. We were the first in the restaurant and from our window table we could see twinkling lights in the darkening sky across the Mersey Estuary. One smiling waitress took our wine order while another served our dinner. We were impressed with the food. Large portions, exquisitely presented and full of taste. We wanted to share a chocolate brownie for dessert but it was only served with ice-cream or chocolate sauce. We didn't want either. Although custard wasn't on the menu we still got a jug of hot custard with our brownie! After our "traditional" wet pudding in the bar (Cointreau for Jackie and a single malt for me) we returned to our room for a peaceful sleep in a comfy bed. We normally stay in hotels mid-week so Sunday breakfast (for us) was a bit of a nightmare. All the tables were occupied, the restaurant was packed and everything was self-service. We queued for 10 minutes before a table became vacant. I spoke with the receptionist afterwards and she apologised that weekend breakfasts could be a bit of a scrum! We delivered Jackie's pictures to the Arts Centre in Frodsham, took coffee and cake in a High Street 'deli' before driving off to explore the Delamere Forest. Judging by the packed car parks everybody was doing the same ...enjoying some unexpected warm sunny weather! Compared to breakfast our dinner was a sedate occasion and we enjoyed another superb meal served by friendly staff in the quiet restaurant. (We got custard with our dessert again!) Monday breakfast was as we prefer breakfasts to be. Personal waitress service, piping hot food in a very quiet restaurant! We enjoyed our weekend break and using some of my accrued Best Western Rewards points (for the Sunday) the bill was very reasonable. With discounted tickets (bought from Reception) we checked-out and spent four enjoyable hours wandering around Chester Zoo before heading back to the Forest of Dean.

Really friendly staff and a good size of family room made this a perfect stop off for a day at the zoo. Pool facilities dated but perfectly suitable although the gym machines weren't great! Main issue was the heat in the bedroom as we were cooked all night! Would return again if we came back to this area.

Once again another great stay - everywhere was clean, good night's sleep, yummy breakfast, great views, great staff and thoroughly enjoyed using the leisure facilities - everything we want from a short break. We will return soon for another chill-out stay.

The family room was enormous and well furnished. The spa was unexpected and totally fantastic. Utilised it fully and was clean and well maintained. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to all.
