"We'll be back!"
Beds and pillows were comfortable. Safe and mini fridge in room. No microwave. No coolers allowed. Shower spacious. My favorite part was drinking wine by the lake with a firepit in the evening. Parking is atrocious. Definitely not enough handicapped spaces.
"Great improvements"
We have stayed at the Rocky Gap Casino Resort several times. We saw many improvements during our last visit. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. That wasn't always the case before. The food has improved. Our room was clean and well maintained. In the past the staff was instructed to search your belongings for alcohol and the size of a cooler was limited. These silly practices are no longer in place. The resort also used to charge you for an early check in, even if the room was ready for you. This has also changed. We were able to check in upon arrival. The Tiki bar is fun. We enjoyed the water sports and the outside firepits. We shall return.
"Some good . . . some bad"
I submittted my comments through the "contact us" on the Rocky Gap website but no one bothered to reply so this was my experience on our stay. Pros: 1. Front desk and casino staff was very friendly 2. Breakfast at Lakeside was delicious 3. Beautiful view and all areas were clean 4. Pool was nice but they should have opened the doors because of the condensation on the windows you couldn't see out while in the pool area. Cons: 1. It rained the one evening. They have multiple fire pits but because there aren't any covered areas all of the furniture was wet so you couldn't sit out. (There are a couple covered areas but the way the furniture was positioned it was wet). The next morning the cushions were still wet so they took them off of the furniture so once again you couldn't sit outside. 2. We paid $25 to rent fishing equipment. Definitely a waste of money. The first reel didn't even have a handle on it. The tackle box was pitiful. Nothing to cut the line after you changed hooks. I recommend you bring your own fishing gear. The young gentleman that was working was very polite and apoligized. 3. The banister on the steps from the parking lot to the golf store is a accident waiting to happen. 4. Had lunch at Lakeside Grill. The kitchen staff got in a agrument and was using some very foul language that everyone in the dining room heard. No apology or mention of it from the waitress or anyone. 5. No response to "contact us" comments that were submitted on the website. I called twice to ask if anyone was going to respond and they did put me through to someone in Marketing and he definitely doesn't have the personality to be talking to customers. He didn't know where the email went (I had confirmation that it was received). Said he would mention the lunch incident to food and beverage but that was a different department. I never did get a email response from them. If they aren't going to respond to customers comments why bother even having the form on the website? All in all we had a nice time and will go back just for the view. Hopefully, it won't rain and we will be able to enjoy the outside area.
"Stay elsewhere"
For the price they are charging for rooms, especially when also getting your money gambling they could at least have beds that are not completely worn out and old. The mattress was completely worn out and springs were not good anymore. Big dip in bed because of this.
"Lovely Lakefront Hotel with Smoke-free Casino, Golfing, and Spa"
A lovely getaway hotel with Adirondack chairs near the lake, kayaking and paddle boating, golf, spa, smoke-free casino, and comfortable rooms. The room was clean and comfortable with a reading chair and footstool, mini-fridge, coffee maker with Caribou coffee in a plastic tray and sealed pouch. Lipton tea. The bathroom had white and grey marble in the shower and H2O bath products. The bathroom only allowed one person at a time, unless the other one was showering. There is a safe in the bedside tables. The smoke-free casino (smoking outside in a covered area next to the front door and two rooms in the casino) had one table of several card games (3 card Poker, Blackjack, etc), craps, roulette, and a number of slot machines from penny to high roller ones. The staff was friendly and professional. Drinks were $10. If you join the True Rewards casino club, you get a $5 in free slot pay and if you acquire 40 points before midnight, you get a virtual scratch off ticket (under Promotions on the kiosk) where I won $10 in food credit. You can get free hotel nights even at the lowest level if you play enough. You need 5,000 in points/$ to get to the next tier. There is an indoor pool which allows you to walk down into the pool then swim out a passage way to a bigger area. The pool is 3 to 4 feet deep, and there is a good hot tub - nice temperature with jets that stay on and don't require you to push a button. The main pool is under a glass ceiling which retracts to allow fresh air and sun in during the nicer days. There are small towels near the pool. They ran out after we took our towels but were later replaced. The Signatures Bar and Grille had big hamburgers, pizza, and super jumbo size pretzels with cheese and whole grain mustard. It was a good place to sit outside, and the food was good. The Lakeside Grill is the lovely restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and a bar next to the lake. The great items were: Mai Tai, the sourdough bread and whole grain bread basket, the beet salad, and the huge (4) shrimp cocktail. They were some of the biggest shrimp I have seen. The French Onion soup, hamburger, crab cake, salmon entrees were fine. I would avoid the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer, macaroni and cheese (tasted like soap) and the Blistered Brussel Sprouts (soggy and chew,. not crisp). There is a Cracker Barrell in Cumberland, MD if you want a good breakfast or something more affordable for dinner. Check-in is 4 pm; Check out is 11 am. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and thought the hotel on the lake was a nice hidden gem in Maryland.
"Incredible restaurant team at Lakeside Grill. "
I visited this location with my family while being a participant on a car rally of supposedly 65 exotic cars. I enjoyed my stay and wanted to apologize on behalf of the group because I know no one else will but some of these people on the group treated your staff with absolute disrespect. While I witnessed that, I also witnessed your staff jump through overwhelming hoops of fire to accommodate them all. The rally group didn't care that they didn't have reservations, they seated themselves and walked right past the hostess The staff was still smiling and getting everything that needed done completed. There was a private party of 40 also there! The manager in the Lakeside grill restaurant was very proud of all of her staff. Hostesses that weren't waitresses stepped up to help wait tables and it was very impressive. I love this can-do attitude of this hotel (more specifically, Lakeside grill). When leaving the next morning the rally had put inappropriate sexual appendages on the windshields and were causing a ruckus which was embarrassing. They ended up doing Skyline Drive in the Shanendoah National Park that day and it was so bad (dangerous and disrespectful) that my family abandoned the rally because we didn't want to be associated with them anymore. $8,000 down the drain to be apart of that rally (with 2 cars) but that's how disgusting and disrespectful they were. So…..again, I apologize to you and any other guest who happened to witness their behavior. You are all great! Wish I could have seen more of your hotel. I would 100% come back and probably will.
"Unfortunately NOT the same place."
Visually a beautiful property but NOT the same since Golden Entertainment is the owner of the facility. Rooms, especially suites, and public areas are poorly furnished and not up to any standard. Furniture is in need of replacement or at least cleaning and repair. Staff there before the sale to Golden understand and are apologetic but are not able to do anything about the changes and poor management. Restaurant is costly and Signatures is often closed if the number of rooms occupied is not at an acceptable level. The appearance and cleanliness of the casino is at a low level. This facility now seems to be simply a "cash cow" for Golden Entertainment.
"Horrible hotel experience and management will not reply to emails. "
Stayed here Memorial Day weekend as we were in town for a family event. Moved from here last fall so very familiar with the property. Had previously spent time in the casino and restaurants but first experience with the hotel. SO SO disappointed. Beds were in desperate need of replacement as the mattress on the one bed sagged so badly that you literally rolled towards the middle if you moved. Tried switching them around and no luck. The bathroom was ridiculously small and the half glass shower was poor design. For what we spent it was a horrible experience. Have emailed the property twice with no reply. Absolutely poor management.
"So so getaway"
Our first visit in 2023. Weather was sunny although a bit cool - nice walk along the lake on Wednesday. We did about normal on the slots - I lost a modest amount. My bed was the least comfortable hotel bed I've had in years. Food at the resort restaurants was just ok but the service was good.
"The food prices are very high."
The rooms do not come with microwaves. You can rent one for $20 a day. Needless to say, we did not rent one just to make popcorn. Also, it's the only place I have stayed that didn't have an exhaust fan in the bathroom.
"The house always takes a cut"
We decided to stay here on New Year's Eve. We figured it would be easier to stay in a hotel attached to the casino so we wouldn't have to drive after a long night of celebration. This hotel was over $300 for one night. I think that's completely outrageous. It would've been well worth it to drive the extra 10 minutes to stay somewhere else and save a good chunk of money. The hotel itself isn't bad, but it's not worth what you pay for it. Another thing that I really didn't like is that someone always opens the door for you. It's a little tacky for my liking. I have hands, let me use them to open the door myself. At the price we paid, they should've carried us to our room instead of just opening the doors for us. We would probably give this hotel another chance, but not on a busy occasion like New Year's Eve.
"Retreat"
The first evening that we were there, the entire facility was too cold. We asked the restaurant manager but she was not able to do anything about it. We did notice it was more comfortable the second day.
"Restaurants need revaluation . Place needs help"
Spent the day. Not enough help through out casino floor. Restaurants were terrible. Service lousy. Food lousy. Prices to high..not enough menu choices. My breakfast was raw My lunch again not done..we went to Cumberland for supper. The hotel is comfy and clean. No valet parking. No help with luggage. Makes golfing a chore
"the view almost makes up for poor lunch"
charging $50.00 for an al cart steak does not make you a ruthcris my nephew's steak ordered medium rare came as a hockey puck and my ribeye was more than half uneatable fat with separated bearnaise sauce after spending $300.00 the female taking the payment, couldn't even smile or wish us a happy day
"Not as good as it used to be "
I have mixed feelings about my stay at Rocky Gap. My family lives locally and I've stayed here and visited the spa many times over the years and have always enjoyed it, but there was definitely a lot different this time. For one, the room was way overpriced for a Thursday (nearly $300 for a standard room, no mountain/lake view), and they've added fees to everything. Fees to check in early, fees to get a late check out (and there's no late checkout on the weekend, even an hour), no vending machines so you have to get drinks and snacks from the Lobby bar, all of which are overpriced, and the food at the Signature restaurant was just average - definitely not equal to the cost. Overall, the hospitality is lacking. The staff seems abrupt and quick to dismiss you. I ordered pizza at the Lobby bar and didn't even get to order a drink before the cashier was ringing me up, and she acted irritated when I tried to finish my order. There was only one other person in line or waiting so not sure what the rush was about. And I wasn't taking my time or anything, she just literally wouldn't let me get the words out. Also the pizza was terrible, absolutely inedible. Tasted like burnt cardboard with tomato paste, and for $16 it should have been at least decent. The room was nice, very clean and comfortable, but no microwave, and frankly, I've stayed in Marriotts that were as nice and cost $100 less. I will say, I had a massage at the spa and that was really a high point. Excellent massage, great service and hospitality - the rest of the hotel should be modeled off of the way the spa staff treats its guests. It's still a beautiful spot and there are lots of things to do, but it definitely feels like customer experience is not the priority anymore (except at the spa). Instead the focus is on getting as much cash from the guest as possible while providing the least amount of effort or convenience. I really hope they return to the way it used to be run.
"Beautiful Golf Course, Amazing Staff!!"
We have been coming to Rocky Gap for several years and we cannot say enough good things about it. The employees are first class. William at Signatures goes above and beyond with his customer service and always joyful spirit! Josh and Tracie, bartenders at Lakeside, make the best cocktails and offer top notch customer service. Mike at the golf course is always there when we arrive and has our clubs unloaded and strapped to the cart before we even get out of the truck! Rick, the golf Pro, and the new course superintendent (not sure of his name) have created a beautiful, challenging golf course with the most picturesque landscape and wildlife including turkeys, whitetail deer and bald eagles! My husband and I visit a couple times each month and we have never been disappointed!
"Just OK....."
Probably should be considered a 3 star facility. Room did not look as if it was cleaned or turned over properly. Dust on furniture, bathroom accessories were not replaced with full new items. Staff were hospitable but not exceptionally friendly. Food and snacks were overpriced, similar to buying stuff at the airport. Casino was good However, the setting and the natural beauty of the surroundings are unmatchable, nice getaway, but just average hotel and definitely not a resort...... Oh yeah, went to have dinner at the 'Signature Bar and Grille' and was told there was a 30 minute wait, but saw multiple tables available, but also told they were already reserved........hmmmmm, I don't know.......So I grabbed one of their 'airport' sandwiches ($12) in the Lobby......
"Went twice in July"
Two visits in July. Perfect time to have gone. We enjoy sitting outside both during the day and fireside in the evening. Lakeside breakfasts are good and with a view. They need to have lunch and dinner more affordable at that particular restaurant . Casino is also a big draw for us. Everything is clean and seems generally up to snuff.
"Customer service has gone downhill "
Almost 500 for a room and it was dusty and the shower had no place for toiletries. The cleaning staff I met in the hallway for additional needs were friendly and helpful, So far no response from management on so called tier class benefits. Rocky Gap is one of my favorite casinos but I'm feeling unless you someone there forget getting what you Are entitled too
"Weekend getaway"
Rocky Gap was a nice getaway from work life. The hotel staff was very friendly. It rained Sunday-Monday wished they had outdoor shelter to sit for when it rains to still enjoy being by the lake. Thanks
"Put it on you to visit list"
This is a great place. Scenic, quite, wonderful golf course and people. They were a little short staffed. But all in all, I recommend this resort. Gaming is great. The restaurant is short staffed, but the food is good. Golf staff were excellent.
"Great resort. Some issues"
Views of the lake next to the hotel were awesome. Plenty of chairs and fire pits. Get a lake view room if possible. Food was great in Lakeside grill for dinner and breakfast. Service was quick and excellent as well. Judy, Shelly and Karen were great! Hotel is under staffed which causes issues. Waited for our room for over an hour. Long line at checkin. Considering checkout is 11 and checkin is at 4. They should have rooms ready in 5 hours. Service at Signatures for lunch is very slow. Service was rude as well. Totally ignored for a half hour until acknowledged. They do not clean your room until checkout. I understand staffing g issues but for the price you are paying you would expect clean towels each day. I had to hunt down someone to get fresh towels
"Beware of hidden fees"
Beware of hidden fees!!!!! When checking in I asked the cost per night, including taxes and everything, I was given one price when I got the bill at checkout there was a “resort fee”. It was only $35 but it is the deception of added fees. Nice resort, but added fees for everything- even In the restaurants!!! As I stated, it isn't the amount, it's the principal of hidden fees.
"Over-priced"
It's a nice place, but it is way over-priced. When I booked, they didn't send me an itemized list of the cost. Then I called back and added a third night. Long story short, I ended up paying about $400 more than I knew, because their email confirmation system was down or some nonsense. We too, had a view of a generator on the mountain side. Whatever. That's fine. Just don't charge me the same as the people with non-obstructed views. There are no microwaves in the rooms. So don't bring food that needs heated up. When I paid $1200 for 3 nights, a microwave isn't much to ask. Apparently they have some, but you need to request them. Absurd. There was one roll of toilet paper and three towels for three days. I was told because we were only staying for three days, we wouldn't be receiving housekeeping. I didn't mind the non-housekeeping, but leave some extra towels and toilet paper if that's the case. Overall, the employees were nice, and the facility was clean. The resort just has some stupid and annoying policies designed to drain you of money. I don't appreciate being nickeled and dimed when we're spending additional hard earned money at the restaurants and casino. It's not a good look and tacky.
"room reservation not honored"
I reserved a lake view room with 2 queen beds 6 weeks in advance for a Saturday night.. when I arrived to check in, I was given a room on the first floor with a view of nothing but a wall looking through a web covered window and only one bed. when I went to the desk and explained that I was not given the room that I reserved, I was rudely told that they had no other rooms available. there was a loud motor sound nearby that kept me up half the night, spent a miserable night. the next day I sent an email to the resort manager who passed my message on to the hotel manager. his response was that he was willing to offer me another room, but on a week night only. this would not work for me because I work during the week, was never even offered an apology for their mess up.
"Weekend with family"
The staff was so nice and helpful. Our door to our room would not work so we had to get another room and Alex at the front desk was so helpful in getting us taken care of. Food was great and we can't wait to get back. I recommend the seabass for sure.
"absolutely dreadful! Ruined my Mothers Day!"
My husband took me here for Mothers Day as we have always enjoyed staying the night here! After playing in casino all day ( and not drinking) we had dinner in the grill accompanied by 3 coors light, I was stopped at the door by a female security guard who said I was walking funny........ she told me I was not permitted back into the casino. I walked away absolutely stunned and then went back to her and politely asked her how she knew I didnt have a disability?" She just stated again that I was not allowed in. I did not want to make waves and air my personal history, BUT I have Severe Stenosis which causes enormous pain and causes me to walk somewhat funny. I am 61 years old, and only drink coors light, it is amazing to me that they walk around the floor all day and night serving drinks and yet they judge someone on their gait. I went to bed and cried as this was suppose to be a fun getaway for mothers day! My husband talked to the desk the next morning and we never heard from them!! Shame on them for doing nothing to compensate, as we also put about $800 in the machines during the day. They could absolutely be sued for discrimination!
"A Gem For the Whole Family!"
I live in Virginia and my family lives near Pittsburgh. For years I travel from VA to PA and make it a point to stop at Rocky Gap, sometimes for a quick break, and sometimes for an overnight. I just recently spent 2 nights with a group of friends who had never experienced Rocky Gap. They enjoyed it so much it made me realize that I need to let others knows of this gem of a place. Most folks in VA have no idea where it is, yet is so close - just 3.5 hours from Richmond. At a time when travelling is difficult with gas prices, this resort is a wonderful spot for a little getaway. Rocky Gap literally has something for the entire family. Of course there is the casino (my personal favorite). One of my friends and I frequented the casino, but the other 2 took delight in the other amenities. Hiking / walking trails around the grounds and the lake, kayaking, canoeing, and a beautiful golf course. Relaxation is all over the place with chairs around the lake, a patio with an outdoor bar, a swimming pool, and outdoor/indoor restaurants. A spa/massage place is on-site, and from I understand is excellent! Across from the resort is a State Park with a beautiful beach complete with a lifeguard and pavilions. Personally, I feel the best amenity at Rocky Gap is their staff. The front door and two of the valets, Josh and Johnny, were helpful and very pleasant. Raven at the front desk helped me with my room especially after I questioned my billing rate. She also was very patient with finding a sports game on one of the many TVs in the lobby seating area. Keenan at the lobby coffee/bistro/bar provided us with delicious coffee and lattes. Casino gaming table hosts, Desmond and LeRoy, made both winning and losing fun. I want to commend the wait staff at the Signatures Bar and Grill. Each time I have gone to Rocky Gap, I always eat there. The atmosphere is very sports bar and quite fun with delicious food. However, there always seems to be a bit of a staff shortage. One may find a little longer of a wait for a table or service, but the staff who are there are so very pleasant. I had heard some grumbling from a few other patrons, yet the staff working hard never showed any signs of feeling overwhelmed. (I understand they may be short-handed). Even though that restaurant closed at 10:00, they smiled and took food orders at 9:55 without even mentioning of the closing time. Seriously, that staff is stellar! The rooms are beautiful! Very clean with comfortable chairs, small room refrigerator, and a single cup coffee maker (not a Keurig type). The beds were extremely comfortable with fluffy pillows. I loved that the shower is a walk-in shower beautifully tiled and with a glass enclosure. No tub, no shower curtain. The shower head is adjustable for water flow. I had a lake view room which was beautiful to look out to the lake and mountain. If you get a chance, check out Rocky Gap. You will not be disappointed.
"Nice casino!"
Definitely a smaller casino, but nice selection of machines. Nice that it was nonsmoking, but had 2 smoking rooms. You can see the lake from the smoking rooms. Didn't win anything big, but we enjoyed ourselves.
"First return visit since Covid hit"
Made reservation for Mountain View room but on arrival was told none were available due to construction. Ended up with a view of the parking lot instead of the mountain and lake. The room itself appeared recently renovated and was clean. Room service for our dinners was prompt and food was generally good though a bit on the expensive side. Had breakfast in the restaurant where service was good and food was decent. We were among the very few people wearing masks so it seemed clear that almost no one cared any more about Covid. The slots favored us on this visit although we contributed on prior visits before Covid hit. We likely will return but will try to make sure construction is over so that we can get a room with the good view.
"Great time at a great resort"
This is my third visit to Rocky Gap and wont be the last. I'll be visiting again in July and cannot wait. Arrived on Friday 04/29 at 2:30pm to a full parking lot yet was able to check in right away. Hotel staff was very friendly and got us checked in very quickly. We had a beautiful lake/mountain view room w/ 2 queen beds. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We had a great time playing golf. The staff were very friendly and the weather held out for us to have a great day. The casino is not large like some of the other I've been to however it has all the things you'd want with slots, table games and lottery options. We had a successful run for awhile and managed to come out sort of even. Not bad after 2 days onsite. The bars and restaurants have delicious food and drinks. The staff there are all very friendly. The lake area outside is just beautiful. We had a wait for a table at Signatures Grill but were able to grab a drink and hang outside by the lake at at one of the many fire pits and enjoy the outdoors. There was live music also which was a plus. All in all just a great relaxing time. The resort also offers spa packages which my wife and I have done and loved. We'll be doing this in July again. They also offer Stand up acts and music acts but you have to check the calendar for those specific dates. The best part of our stays has always been having everything on the property. It's so nice to park you car and never have to leave. Thanks Rocky Gap! I cant wait to come back.
"Always a great "go to" last minute trip"
We have stayed here 3 times now in less than 2 years. The resort is beautiful on the lake (make sure you get lakeview rooms) and very well kept and tidy. The casino is just large enough and the staff is very accommodating. Only exception is the food venues are sometimes closed and so your food selections are limited and expensive when only the main restaurant is open. If you golf, a nice course to play. We like to sit by the lake with drinks and the firepits to break up the nights there since the casino is your only choice. Get a TRUE card as you will get great deals after your first couple of stays. Not sure why there are always so many kids there too.
"Don't!"
Due to my husband's work schedule, we have only 3-4 weekends a year to enjoy together. We chose Rocky Gap for a Saturday concert and gambling. After the concert, we joined the crowd in heading from the downstairs venue to the casino on the main floor. As everybody filed into the casino, a security guard pointed to me and said, "Come back in an hour or two." He then pointed to a woman behind me, who appeared to be with her significant other, and told her, "You can't go in." There appeared to be other random picks also. The security guard was trying to make it seem like we had too much to drink (because they are not permitted to make such an accusation unless they are certain). He did not verbalize a reason. After I said I would never return, he told me, "Don't!" I later submitted my complaint via their website and, to date, have received no response. After what I witnessed over time and by seeing similar reviews, the staff's only mission is clear: Get the money. Actual impaired high spenders will get preference for the casino, while couples looking for a nice experience are pushed away. My husband and I have decided that instead of visiting Rocky Gap, we will look elsewhere or enjoy our nights at home. Instead of paying $6-$7 for one domestic beer (as price varies throughout property), we can get an 18-pack for under $20. Instead of waiting 30 minutes for a $7 soft pretzel, we can make a whole box and be done snacking. Instead of paying $10 for a stale deli sandwich, because there is no available evening restaurant, we can do better. We have seen this place continually decline and kept giving it more chances. This was its last chance for us. When you are thinking about visiting Rocky Gap, take our (and the security guard's) advice: "Don't!"
"Not really "resort" worthy, unless they have changed the meaning of "resort""
So my wife booked this place for a mini getaway for my 69th birthday. Trying to check in before 4 p.m. reminded me of having a reservation at a restaurant where they send you to the bar instead of your table. Only here it's the casino instead of the bar (get my drift?). So at 4 p.m. (due to this policy), there is understandably a HUGE line at the check-in desk (could have been avoided with a little imagination). When you DO check in, they inform you your room will not be cleaned while you are staying with them. I guess the "resort" fee doesn't cover that. But it's ok. You can get fresh towels by chasing a maid down in the hallway and asking for them. The rooms? 3-star. No way this is a AAA 4-diamond "resort". The rooms at Seneca Niagara and Seneca Allegany blow these rooms away. No comparison. The wireless internet works great, though. The restaurants seem like they were an afterthought. In the basement (literally, but they call it the 1st floor). 2 restaurants in the basement: one that serves overpriced entrees and the 2nd one called Signatures. You'll find Signatures by either entering the door which leads to the golf pro shop, or winding your way through the basement. We ate at Signatures; the food was good and moderately priced. The space is too small, though. Folks looking for a meal who won't eat at the overpriced restaurant head to signatures. The place is too small to accommodate all of them. And when we ate there, there was only 1 server. There is a "takeout" place where you can get food in the hotel lobby, at the entrance to the casino. Sandwiches, muffins, cakes and pastries. Nothing fancy. The grounds here are beautiful, as is the golf course. I wanted to drive a few golf balls. I expected the driving range to be right next to the golf course/pro shop. It is not. It is wayyyyy up over "yonder hill". You can't drive a car to it. You either have to walk or ride a golf cart. Except there may not be any carts if they are all being used by golfers on the course. STUPID location for the driving range. This place is in the middle of nowhere. Inadequate restaurants/selection of food on the premises. You have to get on Interstate 68 and drive 10 miles to find any other restaurants. It's really not a "resort". It's a 3-star motel with a golf course. Oh, one more thing I forgot. On the last day of our stay we were locked out of our room because the room keys were "accidentally" inactivated a day early.
"A Great Relaxing Place"
This was my first time to Rocky Gap Casino. First let me start by saying the hotel itself is first class in every way. Rooms are very large and tastefully decorated. Front desk staff very nice. Word to the wise - check in is 4:00pm. Don't try any earlier. 4:00pm your room is miraculously ready. As for the casino, it stinks. As fast as you put the money. Spin the reals a few times and your money is gone. I like a casino where you get some play out of your money. Didn't happen here. Also, seen very few people in line to cash in winnings. Food service. Lobby bar, I wish I know the young lady's name as she was more than accommodating. Took care of many demanding people all at once. A very attentive person (Wednesday evening at 6:30pm). Had breakfast on Thursday Morning at the Lakeside Grill. A first class restaurant in every way from the hostess greeting you upon arrival to the waitress (can't remember her name - she was from Bedford), to the excellent food.
"They let customers abuse women. Won't be back."
I love this place and have left many positive reviews, but after what happened to me in the casino this week, I won't be back. Casino "manager" Brittany and blackjack dealer Trevor(?) should be fired. LOOK AT THE VIDEO OF 11:30 p.m., 4/5/22! I do not go on a vacation to relax, only to be verbally abused and harassed by a bunch of drunk, overserved men. Any other casino, they would have been IMMEDIATELY escorted off the floor. Instead, they were encouraged by the dealer and a completely useless pit boss named Andy. So useless, he called for "help" from a "manager". All of the men were then further egged on by Brittany, who would not even allow me to speak! Apparently, women are only allowed at table games if they shut up and know their place. As the late Madeleine Albright once said, "There is a special place in Hell for women who don't support other women." I hope it's true. Either way, what happened to me - 63 year old woman travelling alone (and staying as a paying "guest" at the hotel!) - was despicable, and I won't be back!
"Wedding guest lodging"
It's pretty but………so many unfortunate issues. First, to make reservations for the block of rooms for our wedding, we were on hold for over 40 minutes!! Unacceptable. Next we were billed for the room immediately. That was 6 weeks before the event. Being blocked for a wedding party, one would expect that rooms would be available before 4 pm. Oh we could have paid $45 extra to do that. Instead, we dressed in the locker room of the golf area. The room when we finally got on it smelled musty. And, “cleaned & sanitized”?? Ummm. Not really. There were old French fries behind the nightstands. The restaurant on property? The food was less than desirable. Not worth it. Would I encourage staying here? Probably not. Just does not live up to the hype. The guys holding the doors at the front and the Christmas decorations were the best part.
"Fun place, beautiful surroundings"
Visit was for a work event. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and food was good. Nice outdoor bar/courtyard area. Casino is large and didn't feel crowded at any time. Would recommend for events or just a weekend away.
"Beautiful mountain setting, but 'Resort' is a mis-nomer...."
First, the pros: all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The views are gorgeous--the park and lake are just beautiful. My children enjoyed the indoor pool--a treat in December. The pool area is nice--and we were the only people using it. I am sure in the summer, when the doors are open to the patio area it is very nice indeed--there are stairs outside down to the lake and beach. The women's locker room definitely needs some TLC; really needs to be painted, re-grouted. The dispensers in the shower for soap and shampoo were empty. My husband went into the casino to play Blackjack and he appreciated the low-stakes tables. Now, for the cons; this is not an expensive hotel, but the rooms are not very attractive--I know high-traffic hotels use dark colors because they hide usage, but it always gives me the feeling that they are not clean. Our room seemed clean and when I called housekeeping for extra blankets, they came right up. The toiletries are minimal (though the shampoo and conditioner were good); there were 4 of us staying in the room and we got one tiny shampoo and one tiny conditioner. But, the biggest fail was the food; I did not expect much, but it was bad. Originally, I made a reservation at the Lakeside Restaurant, but once we checked in, and I got the vibe of the hotel, I realized that it was over-priced for what we were probably going to get and was not going to be good. We ate at the Signatures bar & grill; definitely all Sysco food--very salty and greasy. And, slow--which I think was the kitchen, not our server. Slow is not good when there are hungry children AND we were on a schedule--we needed to get to Cumberland for the Polar Express train ride. We ordered pretty quickly, but I think it took about 30 minutes for a hamburger, a small cheese pizza, chicken tenders and fries and a grilled chicken sandwich. In general, I think this hotel caters mainly to visitors who want to play slots and other casino games, so it is not really a family hotel. A resort usually implies a hotel that has a variety of activities for all guests. In the summer, I imagine this hotel has more for children, as there would be swimming and boating on the lake. We would love to come back to the park, but I think we would opt to camp or get a cabin.
"Overnight mini-vacay"
My husband's company had their Christmas party here last night - not a moment too soon, as our house had been flooded Sunday/Monday this week and we're still mucking out. Even one night away has been a blessing! The ambiance - a relaxed time with friends in an elegant yet natural setting - was perfect for his company. We've gambled here before as well as fished and hiked and swum the lovely Lake Habib and have never been disappointed. Many many thanks to our work family and the hotel staff for such a relaxing overnight stay. We'll be back!
"They have some work to do"
First time here. Good and bad. Beautiful property. Scenic and views. Rooms and property clean. Nice large towels in room and housekeeping staff nice and helpful. Room was large. Plenty of parking. Several slot machines were broken. Mom was using machine that broke and after waiting over 30 minutes, she asked someone to find an employee to come over. Food was awful. Overpriced. We heard a customer ask server for coffee and her response was that it had been sitting there for 4 hours. She didnt bother to make any. French fries had no taste. Check in process was long. Several guests waiting to get checked in rooms after check in time. Long lines every time went to lobby desk. Would like to go back to visit area but would not eat here.
"Worst Anniversary Ever"
We booked a room for our Anniversary. Ordered room service it was excellent. Food was great! We played the slots for a bit and we decided to go back to our room to relax. The electricity went out, so we called the front desk they said it would be back on in an hour. An hour went by, then two hours still no electricity. Our Anniversary was being ruined. So we checked back out, customer service was sad. We didn't ask for our money back. Since then we have heard of numerous friends that they've been offered a free room. ?????
"A great getaway, that's not too far away"
we were feeling the need to get out after almost 2 years of covid 'hiding'. Both of us were vaccinated over a year ago and we always wear mask when in public. After some research, my wife was able to find this place for an overnight that offered on-site spa treatments and some entertainment that we self selected- slots or roulette!. She was rewarded with some nice winnings and fun playing many different casino games. I just had fun, with minimal losses. The casino is verrry noisy, but i guess it helps people drown out their sorrows and give everyone the feeling that they are having fun....and not sitting home alone. I found the facility was very well cared for by an earnest staff who always seemed busy trying to help patrons. One energetic young little redhead at the front door was always into something...holding the door for people in and out, sweeping anything and anywhere to be sure the place was spic and span...and always replacing chairs at tables after people left. I love to see employees keeping busy and not just standing around. I think her name was Ruby. The front desk gentlemen, Nate and Ryan were also very helpful and courteous. The Lakeside Grill food was delicious and service was good, people throughout, visitors and staff, were friendly. We struck up a conversation with a fellow watching football in the lounge and made quick friends. After i saw him at the bar and had the waiter buy him a drink on us, he turned around and paid for our dinner! the view from our room was amazing with all the changing leaves around the beautiful lake. The beds were not our favorite, but we slept ok, it was hard to get warm in the temps near freezing outside. We both said we would love to go back again someday, maybe in warmer weather though.
"Disappointed stay"
We have stayed here in the past but this time we were very disappointed: At check in I was given a room with 2 queen beds when we requested and reserved a King when I booked a few months ago. Also requested away from elevator and was given the first room after turning off the elevator. When I called front desk, I was told I had to come down to desk to talk to a supervisor that nothing could be done over the phone. Went to desk and waited in line another 20 minutes to find out that I never saw the supervisor-only had a girl go to the "back to talk to one" and come back out to tell me that there are no king rooms available because hotel was all booked up. Kept this room and was disappointed again to find that the cleanliness was not up to par from past visits we had. There was hair on the shower floor, the black counter tops in room were sticky/dirty and products in the bathroom looked used. The room also smelled musty/dirty not like it had just been cleaned and there was just very poor attention to detail this time
"Nothing Like Being Ignored"
We stopped here yesterday hoping for a quick lunch to continue to Frederick...had stayed here once years ago for one night and thought that we could at least sit down out of the car and enjoy a bite. There is a bar/lounge downstairs from the main level, which didn't seat anyone for food until 4 p.m.. There was an adjacent "full service" restaurant that was roped off and dark. One the main level there was a small selection of bakery items and sandwiches, chicken fingers, and maybe a pizza. Any of these would have been good enough. I waited behind three women who were getting their frothed coffee drinks and that took at least 10 minutes from the time I got in line for the barista to finish them. I then stepped up to the counter, thinking that I'd be asked what I'd like, but she turned and waited on someone seated at the bar. She came back over to the register to get change and still didn't look at me or acknowledge me so I left. Upon departing I saw that all of the front desk clerks had their heads down too, as they did when we came in. It's bad enough to get to this place and try to find parking, but to walk in and completely be ignored is something else. I will never try this place again nor recommend it to anyone.
"Not family friendly "
Don't plan on swimming in the evening if you have kids. No mention of restrictions when we checked in and asked for pool passes but the sign outside the pool says no kids under 16 after 8pm. There wasn't a single person there. Super sad 10yr old. No explanation from front desk. Not even allowed with an adult. Guess we're just going to watch TV in our room. :(
"Not worth the Money"
The front desk was overwhelmed. There was very little communication about what was happening at the property. I was not told upon check in that rooms would not be cleaned/made up during out stay. I had requested early check in when I made my reservation. Upon arrival I was informed that normal checkin is 4:00 pm and the clerk didn't seem at all interested in explaining why early check in wasn't available. At 4:00 I went back to the desk for check in and after waiting for 20 minutes was informed that my rooms were not ready and they didn't know when they would be. I again explained that I had requested early check in and was told that if I didn't pay for it when I requested it, it wasn't available. Well no one asked me to pay for it. Our rooms were not ready until 5:15. The next day we found out the rooms wouldn't be serviced during our stay and had to chase down a cleaning person to get supplies. Oh and the prices in the Lakeside Grill for dinner are outrageous. After waiting 25 minutes for a table, we had to leave to find a more reasonable alternative. $65.00 for a steak is ridiculous.
"Family Getaway"
We stayed 09 - 12 September 2021 in Room 444 (golf view) for a family getaway. It was our first time here and we all LOVED IT!!. The resort has so much to offer everyone from lake activities (casino, golfing, fishing, swimming, boating, paddle boarding), sitting areas near and around the lake with many fire pits and some outdoor games. The two main restaurants were the Lakeside Grille ($$$) which is new and was just completed this year and the Signatures Grill near the Pro Shop ($). Food was great at both places. The Lobby Lounge is your morning place for pastries, coffee, fruit, etc. The Casino was small, but very nice and quaint. Came home a winner. What I loved the most were the WONDERFUL employees of the resort. So friendly, accommodating and pleasant. Not a rude or mean employee we encountered. The room was large enough for all three (3) of us and had two queen beds, small coffee maker and mini-frig. We are looking forward to our next GREAT stay and THANK YOU to all the employees who made our getaway so pleasant and memorable.
"Handicap "Inaccessible""
Was very disappointed when arriving at the hotel resort. They value "Epic Members" so much that they put their parking spaces at the front door and have the Handicap spaces the next row over. Handicap people have to navigate over an 8 in curb in order to start the trek to the hotel/casino. Very difficult for someone with a wheel chair or rolling walker. The so called Handicap rooms did not have any grab bars in the shower. Very disappointed. My brother in law was unable to use his shower because no grab bars were there. The casino is nice but unlike MOST casinos where you can use your free slot play on any day you arrive, Rocky Gaps policy is either Monday, Wed, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday to use your free play. Which ever set of days they link you players card to. That is an absurd policy to have because you can't always go on the days they assign your free play. I , nor my brother in law and his family will not frequent Rocky Gap anymore. Oh... and they stopped providing valet services. Just sad !
"AWESOME Casino!!!"
The adults in my family went here to hang out at the casino. From somebody who travels to Las Vegas frequently, I thought maybe Rocky Cap Casino would be disappointing. I WAS SO WRONG! Their casino is amazing! It's much larger than what you'd expect on the inside. They have all the traditional slot machines like what's offered in Las Vegas. The only downside for smokers is you have to go to a designated area to have a cigarette. However, they load the smoking lounges up with your own slot machines and open the huge windows so the smoke filters outside. Beautiful views of the mountains from the smoking lounges! Drinks are very affordable. We are used to paying $20 for mixed drinks in Las Vegas, but drinks there are much cheaper. We will be going back!
"Love it here but…"
Love your resort. It's beautiful. Staff very friendly!! Just wish you would clean the machines in the smoking section. We are smokers and like to play outside but machines are filthy out there. Otherwise, no complaints. Thank for the free room!! We'll be back hopefully to a cleaner smoking section
"Girls Weekend!"
Girls weekend that did not disappoint! The staff was pleasant and very accommodating! The rooms were clean and the outside area is absolutely beautiful. We golfed and had a great time! The staff at the pro shop was very nice and Dave, the starter, was very helpful. (I did not use the spa, but two of our girls had massages at the and enjoyed their services.) We ate at Lakeside Grille one night and had a wonderful meal. The only reason I wanted to write a review was to mention the WONDERFUL service we had at Signatures. It was a server by the name of Will Smith. He was one of the nicest kids you could come across and made our lunches so enjoyable! Always smiling!! ( We say it all the time. In a time when so many places are having a hard time getting people to work, patrons / vacationers need to remember that the people helping you actually showed up and came back to work after the pandemic!! Be Kind!!) We will definitely be back! Sara
"Average rooms, average food, just average (except for the views)"
The good: the views were excellent. Rocky Gap State Park has amazing vistas and the hiking trails were great. Staff was friendly. The okay: The rooms were okay; the beds horrible. My husband and I are not heavy people but we kept rolling toward the center of the too soft bed. It was clean but the hallways were filthy. About the 2nd day, the cleaned the carpets and put down bug spray...yikes. Restaurant was overpriced and just average. Go elsewhere if you can. The bad: Extra charges on your credit card for unknown fees. Music piping so loud around the fire pit that we couldn't hear each other (we aren't old). No guest laundry.
"Beautiful property"
Lots to do besides gamble. Swimming lake with beach, paddle boats, golf course, bikes for rent, and the casino. For my taste, the slots were pretty tight and all the tables were a higher limit than we like to play, but we had a blast! Staff are all pleasant and helpful. We were there with Brian Christopher Slots, He and Britt had lots planned for us, and we met so many really nice people. The restaurant was just ok. The lobster tail was perfect, delicious, but not many others were as happy as I was. Heavy hand with the smoke flavored items I was told by a couple people, and the prices are pretty high . Service was good! We opted for a standard room, ( more money to play with), and were pretty happy. There are a few restaurants in the area, a pizza place that was highly recommended and more to offer in a near by town, Cumberland. Scenic drives and beautiful mountains all around. I do wish they had a guest laundry. With all the outdoor activities, you'd think they would.
"Very Good Staff, Ok Food, Unclean Rooms"
We went to Rocky Gap for my birthday in June. Check in staff were pleasant. We had a king room but was offered a double with a better view. I think I was given the shaft. The room we got had an obstructed view of the lake even though I booked in April. When we got to the room, I went to get ice and saw so much dust on the shelf above the fridge, I could write in it. I went down stairs and show the attached photo. I was asked if we wanted it dusted but we were so tired that I asked if they could just do it tomorrow when they cleaned the room. I wasn't not told that our rooms would not be cleaned daily because of Covid, yet no one wore masks. We had to wait for staff to bring us towels daily. I was very disappointed that one ever came to dust and we were there for 4 days. The staff in the bar and restaurant were very pleasant, especially Sherri (restaurant) and Tracie (lounge). The food is just ok and there were a lot of flies in the restaurant. I will probably come back again in the early Fall. It's in a great location and the grounds are beautiful, but they can do better.
"Would give 0 stars if I could. Disgusting, very poorly ran business."
SCAM. You'll have charges on your card you didn't agree to and they won't do anything to fix it. We booked a room for 2 nights (my friend and I) For whatever reason the website wasn't letting us book the two nights together so we had to book two separate rooms for 1 night each. We paid in advance (her card). We called and spoke to the front desk who told us that they would merge them into the same room so that we don't have to move rooms halfway through our stay. Well I arrived before her and as I was checking in they first said that they would “try” to merge the two rooms. Um, we were told that was already done. They then asked for my credit card for a $100 authorization hold. No problem, I'm used to that. Well on the second night that $100 increased to $273.60. I spoke to the front desk again, who assured me they fixed it and it would be falling off in a day or two. Well after the 4.5 hour drive home the charge went through on my card. I called this morning and spoke to 3 different people and finally the operations manager, who was a condescending…not nice person to say the least. Told me that a charge for $853.12 was authorized and that the charge on my card was for the remaining balance we owed. Didn't want to answer why they weren't upfront about the charges in the first place or when I asked the front desk while we were there. He claims that the second night went up to 450 something when we “merged” the rooms yet they completely failed to mention that very important detail or else we wouldn't have booked the two rooms in the first place. Then they straight up lied to me at the front desk and said they didn't know what that charge was but assured me it would be falling off. We didn't agree to these charges and it was a total scam. Don't waste your money!!! In addition, they're unorganized and under staffed. Expect to wait 30+ mins whenever you want a drink from the bar, food from the cafe, or even to talk to the front desk. The casino is dirty as heck, I don't care about covid but I was grossed out touching those buttons. The food was average the service was slow, like so slow you can't even enjoy yourself because you spend more of your time there waiting in line then anything else. Oh not to mention, the thermostat is set by the hotel and the control panel in your room won't actually change the temperature so we slept in an above 80 degree room the whole time. First stay and will never be back.
"Better than expected"
We really had no expectations for our 2 night getaway. Our mountain/lakeview room was wonderful! Very clean and roomy with stunning view! Lots of locals were at the casino on our Sunday arrival. The clientele changed Monday. Gaming was pretty good, the lobby bar was great with good bartenders. The main restaurant was very good! A must! The pool was dirty so we went in and right out but enjoyed the paddle boat. The tiki bar was only open Sunday but definitely could have been in the weekday. Not sure if that was due to staff shortage. The grounds on the lake were so pretty with chairs and fire pits. We relaxed and enjoyed that. There were lots of families but not sure what the kids did unless they went to the beach on the other side of the lake. Guest service was mediocre but all in all we will go back!
"What an AWESOME place!!!"
Just a day trip for a out of town friend and myself....We had a good time at the casino. I was surprised at the amount of games and tables. Doesn't look that large from the outside but very pleased when we went in. The beaches were very clean and inviting. People were out in the rented paddle boats and kayaks in the lake. We ate lunch at the restaurant, which was delicious!!! Had an awesome view of the lake from our table. Plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy nature and all the beauty of the surrounding mountains. You can walk for miles and never see the same scenery!!!
"First visit"
This was our first visit and we spent some time at the casino then had lunch. The food was disappointing considering the high prices. Everything is ala carte. We both ordered the crab cakes which were 2 small cakes of flaked crabmeat and very mushy. They lacked an authentic crab taste. The sides of asparagus and green beans were both very good. Then we shared the chocolate lover's cake which was a large slice- it was $14.00. Our lunch with tip was $117.00. For that amount of money I expected a much better meal.
"Be aware"
They gave another couple my room key, ( of course he walked in as I was getting out of shower) Management did note care or even SAID sorry for the mix up to me. Only one restaurant open with ONE server! Never asked how I was nothing! Stunning view, beautiful place, and fun casino but some needs to manage that place properly.

Brenda, we are sorry for the poor experience. Please send us your contact information to RG-info@goldenent.com so a member of management can reach out.
"Nice place"
Friendly and welcoming staff, which can be hard to find at casinos. They make you want to keep returning. clean place. 3 choices of restaurants on premises. Good for short term stay or day visit. Would recommend visiting.

Thank you for the review and feedback, we greatly appreciate it and hope to see you soon.
"Fun, but....."
We visited the weekend of May 22, 2021. This place is severely understaffed. Check in was supposed to be at 4pm. At 5:30 pm, we got a phone call asking if we were still planning on coming. My husband told the lady that we were currently sitting in the parking lot, as our room was NOT yet ready. She apologized and hung up. The young ladies at the front desk apologized, but were unable to help either. I should note, that we had a room on the concierge floor, where the lounge was not opened the course of our stay. We were assured it was when we made the reservations. Besides the snack bar in the lobby, only one restaurant was open. We waited for 30 minutes for a table, an hour for our food, that was mediocre at best. Prices are a little on the expensive side. Table games in the casino cater to the locals. Overall, the resort is nice, but the staff shortage is extreme. It seems there is no communication between departments. Not sure if we will return.

Thank you for the feedback and review. Our nation is experiencing an unprecedented labor shortage and we are doing the very best we can to provide our patrons a great experience. We recently open our newly renovated Lakeside Grille/Lounge and Signatures is open daily. We do hope that you will come back and see us again.
"Friends trip"
Beautiful area, very peaceful and nice drive in the country. The room price is a little high for Sun-Thurs but they are very clean and nice. The beds and pillows seem firm, I prefer a little softer. We ate at LB's and the grill. It wasn't that busy at LB's since we ate a late dinner. Mine was good but it wasn't hot when it came out. My friends lobster dinner was cold and even when she sent it back it didn't come out hot. Pricey and they are also short staffed. Liked the plastic barriers in between slots. I don't like that they charge for mixed drinks when playing, 7.00 for a vodka and tonic? At least do bottom rail for free if playing you are still making money. Plenty of seating outside and fire pits. Looking forward to returning.

Thank you for the review and feedback. Unfortunately, Maryland does not allow casinos to offer free alcohol. We will also be sure to share you dining experience with our Culinary team. Hope to see you soon!
"I had such high hopes...."
I've heard so much about Rocky Gap resort that I thought it would be amazing. The facility itself is ok, the casino was pretty fine (not so big), the spa was pretty good (overpriced in my opinion). Overall, I felt that I overpaid.
Wanda Holtschneider, Marketing at Rocky Gap Casino Resort, responded to this review
Thank you for the feedback and review. Here at Rocky Gap our pricing is very comparable to other casinos in this region. We do hope to see you again.
"Much Improved!"
We visited Rocky Gap for an overnight for the first time since March 2020. This had been our last destination before COVID broke out. Upon arrival, we were surprised with the banner stating "We Are Wide Open!" which they were. Not a mask in sight - no guest nor staff member. We came into contact with a few in the elevator but for the most part, that was it. It was a little overwhelming to say the least. Current policy was also not presented nor discussed at check in. We played 18 holes on the golf course and the course was in the best shape it has ever been before. We have played multiple times in 2019 and 2018, once in 2020 on our last visit. The entire landscape has matured, the carts are new (we had two past experiences of our cart dying in the middle of the round), the greens were sandy from recent aeration but other than that, things were in pretty darn good shape (except the green on 7 which may never be reconciled). The ranger was very present working hard to move along play. Such a nice man and great representative of the resort! We had no trouble on our first 9 (we went off the back first) but the second 9 was a disaster. The beverage gal said there were many drunk people ahead of us on the course slowing down play. The person working the pro shop and taking money was not very cheerful or helpful. We had a nice dinner (as always) in LB's. It was a beautiful evening and the food was good. The casino was clean and smoke-free as usual. No complaints - it was very spaced out for those of us vaccinated but still living conservatively around COVID. Breakfast on LB's patio - the service (Ben) was outstanding. The food good but the breakfast potatoes undercooked. If only the GM would speak to the landscaping crew about their determination to use a weed whacker on the entire area in front of the patio - we could hardly hear one another let alone enjoy the scenery and peaceful location to start the day. Why not do that work between breakfast and lunch?? Workout facility was clean and well maintained as usual. Room was immaculate. It's just some of the little things that need work...we will always return and am happy to see measurable progress each time we do.
Wanda Holtschneider, Marketing at Rocky Gap Casino Resort, responded to this review
Thank you for the feedback and review. We take all feedback very seriously and do our best to make improvements. We are super excited about the opening of Lakeside Grille and hope you find it a much needed improvement. See you soon!
"Not a place for unruly children"
I spent two nights with a friend this past week. First my cons; Cigarette butts all over the nice grounds. Rather disgusting even though there are butt cans for the customers. The pool had five unruly children roughhousing on Monday without parents at poolside. No couple could enjoy the pool as the children dominated it. If one of those children hurt themselves or drowned we would be sued being in the pool with them. The parents were outside. The children then went into the hot tube. This again caused a few couples not to enjoy themselves in the pool area. The noise from the children and their disrespect for other people was horrible. The young man with the long hair and bangs in his eyes at the bar right next to the casino entrance has been touching his hair, moving it away from his face so he can see what he is doing. I being in the food safety handling business find this to be unclean, especially when he makes drinks or mixes drinks. I do not want to order from him. Where is his hairnet? I don't want his hairs in my drinks. WIFI goes out when watching TV at night due to being in the mountains. This happens every time I stay there. Pro's: lovely grounds to relax and enjoy during the day and at night. Food in the dining area is tasty. I enjoyed both my breakfast and dinners. I even order room service at other times on my stays. The room service is great. Everyone has been nice and accommodating. I usually stay once a month to destress from the pandemic, news, and suburbia. I went on a hike around the lake and have used the paddle boat. Next time will fish and more hiking. Having a casino is not a place to bring children, the two do not mix. There is a state park with a nice sandy beach for kids across the way with camping grounds. I will always come back here to enjoy quiet, and hopefully without children being rude and noisy in the pool.
Wanda Holtschneider, Marketing at Rocky Gap Casino Resort, responded to this review
Thank you for the feedback. We will be sure to let our Security team know of this situation in the pool as well as our F&B department. This type of feedback is greatly appreciated and taken very seriously. We can assure you that we will do our best to make improvements in both areas.
"First Time and it won't be the Last Time. Truly a Gem!"
Service was superb! Everyone greeted us with a "Big Smile and Hello"! Our Room was such a surprise, with a magnificent view; very spacious, bed extremely comfortable and the bathroom with walk-in shower was grand!
"Passing through"
My wife and I were on our way to MD and found this jem. Very nice casino with pleny of machines and the food was wonderful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The people there were very nice and helpful. Has a lake with water sports and a golf course. Not much else there however we didn't need anything else.
"Maryland's hidden gem. Gorgeous Resort Casino."
How did we miss this before? An absolute gem! Incredible surroundings, amenities, restaurants and delightful people. The views and property are breathtaking. Definitely off the beaten path but so worth the drive. Like a summer camp for grown ups. Surely a place to make memories. We already can't wait to come back.
"Disappointment"
The Rocky Gap Resort is not much of a resort. The lake and surrounding areas with fire pits it very nice. However if the weather gets bad you will not have television service. We stayed for 3 nights and of those 3 nights the t,v, was only watchable one night. According to 2 different front desk employees, the reason for the signal loss or interruption of the signal was "because of the weather". REALLY!!! I suggested maybe the satellite antennae needed checked. We had very windy weather, maybe something was loose. The other odd fact was the t.v.s in the bar worked fine. The food at the restaurants were not very good. If you don't eat at the "resort" you have to drive about 10 to 20 minutes for better food. When checking out, no one bothered to ask how my stay was.... so, I did not have the chance to voice my disappointment. Staying there is nice with the casino downstairs, but I think if I ever go back, I will stay in Cumberland or LaVale
"Do not stay here"
Was to have a room with a view and was not happy with looking at roof top equipment. Bed was worn down on one side and firm on the other. Very noisy room. Hallway was dirty. Front desk staff not helpful.
"Get Away"
The staff were fantastic. Best room, bed & pillows ever. Our view was excellent, saw a pair of eagles while having breakfast. The restaurant was the best, good prices. The pool looked nice, did not use. Highly suggest you make the trip. The Jones - Westerville, OH
"The RGC"
Mom (84), hubby and I arrived Saturday, April 10, for two nights after a five-hour drive. I dropped them with our luggage at the front door and parked the truck. Parking lot was ¾ full so it was a bit of a walk. When I approached Mom and hubby, they seemed upset. It was around 6:00pm, breezy and chilly outside and they had wanted to go inside. They told me that the man holding open the front entrance door would not let them in saying they had to wait for me (WHAT!). By that time, I was in the hotel check-in line and there was a woman holding open the door and they didn't see the man. The hotel check-in was quite friendly – she offered us a 3rd floor room far from the elevator or a 1st floor room near the lobby. I took the room near the lobby. Room seemed clean and had space enough for the three of us. The view was not of the lake or the hills but a huge generator whee. We had many issues with the key cards – one time they would work and the next time we would have to try it several times before we could open the door. The other issue was the semi-rain shower showerhead – we were excited after seeing it but the water pressure is so low it defeats the purpose of having this type of showerhead. Check-in had alerted us there would be no housekeeping so we were prepared. There is a small fridge in the room. We headed to dinner at LB's Place. The hostess asked if we had a reservation (um, no) but seated us immediately. A few minutes after we sat, there was a line of 12 people. I was surprised by the prices of some of the menu items but we had salads and sides and the food was pretty good. Our waitress, Shelly, took good care of us even though she was also waiting on a large party. We then went to the casino. It was mildly crowded on this Saturday night and the music was blaring. It is my favorite size of casino because I can track down Mom pretty easily – comparable to downtown Las Vegas casinos. No big payoffs but I was able to play for a couple of hours on my stash for the night. The next morning, there was no electricity. I found out the room phone wasn't working so I used my cell phone to call the hotel and inquire. They said the power had gone out during the storm and would be restored shortly. Well, I never even heard the storm or that big old generator right outside our window start up even though it was clearly running. The power was restored shortly after so life begins anew but our room phone never did work. We went to breakfast at LB's Place around 10am. The hostess this morning did not greet us, just shrugged her shoulders as she walked up so I held up three fingers and she seated us at a table nearby. I then found out she could speak because she greeted many customers who arrived after us with a “good morning”. We spent a bit of time in the casino and found out we had new player rewards – I got $10 F&B, hubby got $20 F&B, and Mom got $50 free play so yay. Hubby watched the Master's on TV in their lobby area while Mom and I enjoyed time in comfortable chairs next to the lake. There are several spots right along the lake for just this type of relaxation. Indoor pool is smallish and the pool room is humid after being in the crispy sunshine but there is seating and tables both inside and outside. Towels are available. We made it to a restaurant off site for dinner – Puccini's – not a great experience but the entrees were yummy. Back to the casino in the evening and I stashed out pretty quickly so followed Mom around while she kept winning small pots. This was much less crowded and quieter than the night before – loved it. The next morning, I wanted to use up my $10 F&B credit and went to the Lobby Lounge. I ordered 3 coffees and, excuse me, I didn't mean to bother the man working behind the counter but he acted so PUT UPON when I ordered. He even sighed heavily looking at me over his eyeglasses when I asked for cream and sugar. There is a coffee maker in the room that tastes exactly like the coffee served at the Lobby Lounge and LB's Place – none of it very good. I took a morning walk around the facility – so quiet and such a beautiful setting. Mom and I then had our last turn in the casino and I actually refilled my stash before leaving. This place is in a beautiful setting, is a wonderful size overall and follows good COVID guidelines. They just need to adjust the attitudes of a few of their staff – so many positive interactions except for a few.
"Outstanding job by David Bowman (security)"
Last evening, my gf and I were at the casino at Rocky Gap. I had moved to a new machine and when I put my card in, I noticed it was my gf's card, not mine. I made a quick trip back to the previous machine I had been at; my card was not there. Since it wasn't in any of my pockets or wallet, I went to the cashier's window, where they made me a new card. As I headed back to play, I realized I did not have my voucher from the previous machine - it was around $60. I went to the machine where I had sat down before realizing I didn't have my card, and asked the people who were playing that machine whether they had seen my voucher. They said they had not. Sheepishly, I went back to the cashier's window, and asked if anybody had turned in my voucher. Nobody had. So I prepared to walk away, disappointed in my stupidity at losing the voucher. The cashier window manager said he'd call security, to see if they could help me. Still feeling sheepish - it WAS my fault, after all - I sat down and waited. Shortly thereafter, David Bowman showed up and asked what happened. He was very professional, matter-of-fact, and not the slightest bit judgmental. He had me show him the machine where I had thought I had been at when I lost the voucher. He took my information and said he was going to check with his camera guys. Shortly thereafter, he reappeared with another member of security, who opened up the machine and checked the log. It appeared that I must have inserted the voucher into the machine when I first sat, then, when I noticed I had the wrong card, I left the machine without cashing out. They apparently figured out that the people after me had come and played the money I left behind, and they went to find those people and ask them to reimburse me. About 5 minutes later, David reappeared, with $60.33 in hand, said he found those who had played it, and got it back from them for me. I was fairly amazed, on several counts. First, it was my goof, and I was prepared to eat the loss - my stupidity. Second, to take the time to figure out what had transpired was well beyond what I would have expected security to do, and then, lastly, to find the people who played it and get my money back.... well, that was just unthinkable to this guy! Throughout it all, David remained even keeled, professional, and resolute. As far as I'm concerned, he went way above and beyond - and turned a bad "beat yourself up" experience into an "aw, shucks" one. He seemed almost embarassed when I complimented him, and asked if I could send a letter to someone in his management chain. He told me where I could find a comment card if I wanted to (he eventually brought me one), and the card suggested I write a review. So here I am. Thank you, Mr. Bowman!
"Great sta. For Birthday"
Got to enjoy the casino, stay overnight (at discount since they mail you coupons with loyalty card), and enjoyed great meal at LJs. The meal at LJs was pricey and small portions. The penny slots minimum bets are also getting high with 60, 75 or $1 per spin. And no microwave in room.
"Worth it"
Was a great visit. Basing this review on mid-week with discounts price. Very clean. Casino sectioned off nicely for Covid social distancing. Room very clean and updated. Check-in was easy, staff was friendly. Would not pay full weekend rate for room.
"Expensive does not make it high end."
Let us start with the reservation. I tried to make the reservation online. The sight kept changing the date. So I had to call. Check in was fine until I got to the "mountain view room" the only view was the parking lot. I called the desk and they moved us to the correct room. Let me say the staff was great. The rooms are average at best. There is no in room coffee due to corona virus. But at least make it easy to find down stairs. I ended up having to go in the casino and around to the bar to get a not great cup of coffee. Now the food. We payed a small fortune for dinner. $32 for 2 crab cakes (they were good) asparagus and plan sticky white rice (no herbs, no spices, no nothing). We also ordered a wedge salad that came with what I assume was blue cheese on top. What ever it was it was gray. With dessert and beer the room service bill ended up at $150+. Yeah that's what I said. Shall we move on to the casino? The tightest slots I have ever played. Even when you got a bonus you won nothing. When i commented to a manger the next morning he said Yeah everyone says that. Wish someone would have told me. I found nothing high end at this resort. Just really high priced. Will not be back.
"Mrs."
The trip was a really fun experience. It was my first time at the casino and resort hotel. The staff are friendly, approachable, respectful, and knowledgeable. The overall cleanliness was very much appreciated and the amenities available were numerous. Outstanding food at LBs. The bed was extremely comfortable. My husband has a bad back and slept well; waking refreshed and rested. Well done. I highly recommend visiting. We will be back.
"We love coming to Rocky Gap for fun."
Casino is small but nice.. Has gaming tables and a small smoking room off by itself. Boating and Golfing is there to enjoy also. Wonderful clean comfy rooms with a nice size tv . And can look at the scenery outside. Great views of the large lake.
"Great small Casino/Resort, with friendly staff!"
I really don't understand the negative reviews on this place. If you're expecting the Bellagio or Cosmopolitan, you don't have realistic expectations. The Casino/Resort is on the small side, but if you look at Casino/Resorts within a few hundred mile radius, this place stacks up well. Most all of the larger Casinos in Pennsylvania, do not have a hotel, so you're forced to stay at a hotel a mile or more from the Casino, which eliminates the entire feeling of being on vacation at a casino. If you're a video poker player, Rocky Gap offers bartop Double Double Bonus, with a 9/5 paytable, at the quarter level, with progressives on quads, which is better than anywhere I've come across in PA or WV. The place is small, but they do a good job of having a solid assortment of slots, and video poker. Even hit a nice handpay the last two trips! Not a lot of table games, one craps table, which usually has a crowd. They have 3 Card Poker, but do not have Let It Ride. The drinks aren't comped, but an order with a mixed drink and craft beer, ran about $12. If you're from a fair sized city like Pittsburgh, or D.C., that's a bargain. The rooms are clean, and good sized. The only complaint about the room, and this is a minor one, they have the walk in showers, with no shower door, which is a 1st world problem. A shower door would be nice. The steakhouse (LB's) has a good menu, and again, a value compared to what we're used to paying for a dinner and drinks. The sports bar (Signatures), is pretty good as well, and a great place to watch some games, if you need a break from gambling. Also, the staff is great as well. Every single bartender, waiter/waitress is super friendly, and helpful. COVID restrictions were in place. Staff and patrons must mask up. Remove mask when eating or drinking. Bar closed at 10pm, which wasn't optimal, but they are adhering to their Governor's orders. Only complaint about the casino. . . The Music. It's not bad. Just very repetitive. The last two trips there, same playlist. 60's and 70's songs in the morning. 90's music mid day, 2000's into the evening. Literally the same songs, each day, like clockwork. Overall, very good value. Their players card is tied into the M Resort and Tropicana in Vegas, so some moderate coin in will get you room offers, and some decent free play offers. Will definitely be returning!
"relaxing and awesome!"

"Great Property"
I would like to say that this is a Small, but Beautiful and Great property. And they have good comps. I just wish that they had more slots such as Aladdin and Jungle Lion slots and more Ocean Bubbles and Golden Egypt The staff there are Great, especially Bill Horton (Host) and Olivia (Slot Attendant) Olivia is very nice and always have a smile of her face.. The Beverage staff are Great too

"Beautiful area, great staff, lovely room."
We went for a girls getaway, four of us in all. Our room was lovely, very comfy bed and pillows. I absolutely loved the shower. LB's Place offers a beautiful view as you dine. The food was alright, not bad, not great. The staff in the hotel, the restaurants, and the casino were all wonderful. Friendly and helpful. I was happy to find the pool and hot tub open. We had it to ourselves. We enjoyed sitting around the fire tables outside in the evening. Unfortunately it was too late in the year to take advantage of the boats and kayaks. We will definitely be back to explore the lake on kayak. We took a short walk on the trail around the lake. The whole area is beautiful and relaxing.

"Great Getaway"
Great Room with a view, relaxing atmosphere, clean and comfortable room. Amazing walk around the beautiful lake. Nice golf course, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming in the summer. A little fun at nighttime in the casino. The restaurants have amazing food. They have a nice strict COVID-19 code they are following with limiting people in the hotel, restaurants, and casino. Felt very safe & secure.

"Not a happy weekend :("
I brought my husband here for his birthday weekend, disappointed with the overall experience!! We arrived and there was a line outside for the check in desk we waited over 30 minutes in this line to get our room keys . I wanted to surprise my husband with a romantic dinner and I ordered room service; it took 70 minutes to arrive which I did not think was bad but it was $94 but I was splurging for his bday. As I set out the food I noticed my entree was only partially filled now when I ordered I made the staff repeat me the order to make sure it would be perfect. I got on the phone she the girl stated she would have it corrected right away. I called my husband to dinner for which he ate by himself and after an hour of waiting I had to call room service to remind them of my dinner>>when it arrived I never received an apology a meal voucher, staff could of cared less they had ruined my romantic dinner :( Place is not clean there were nests of bugs in the windows along with cobweb dont be fooled these rooms arent cleaned thoughly. I wanted to leave right then but we were told by the staff that it was sold out for the weekend and that because we had reservation we would not be granted any refund because it was past the 24 hour cancellation & because it was sold out our room could not be moved;staff here is downright rude. My husband and I looked forward to this weekend for months and it was such a let down all the way around I highly doubt we will ever be back!

"Go to the Legion"
This is the second overnight trip to Rocky Gap. The first time we went there was a wind storm that knocked out their computers. The Casino was closed. The tvs did not even work. The Room was nice. They comped us a second visit. So we went again. Got there they looked busy. They are not very ADA compliant. I had to park about 100 yds away from the entrance. They do not have very many handicap slots. The doors to the place are ass backwards. Entrance on the left and not the right. People kept running into each other as normal people know right is in and left is out. The casinos were tight. Usually they let you win something to keep you interested but not these. After a couple hundred dollars, went to room. Started watching HBO and the tv quit. No Signal. Would I go again? Nope. Go to veterans club. You'll save money and support the veterans. It was a nice 100 yard cool up hill walk for this crippled old man this morning to get his car.

"Lovely Setting"
Rocky Gap is pretty ok. The area is breathtaking. There is a lake with canoeing and paddle boats and a small beach. 2 of the restaurants are open. The fancier one was rude both time we visited. The staff in the sports bar couldn't have been nicer! And the food was ok. Coffee at the stand near the front lobby is very good. The room is suitable but nothing amazing. The view of the lake is nice but wish the window that opened was larger. I would visit again but only for the discounted rate that we received.
"A trap"
So, we got a flyer in the mail. We came for 3 days. The food is so terrible. JB did a horrible breakfast. It was not edible. We did not eat there again. The casino paid on Sunday when we got here and Monday 1/2 day. Then it paid nothing, It was raining. So it is a trap. You can't eat there or play there. The best food came out of the lobby. You can order breakfast or lunch or grab a snack. We were woke up at 12:30 am for a fire alarm. We all walked down the stairs. There was older people going down 6 floors of stairs in the middle of night. We were outside for only 5 minutes. It was a false alarm and people were asked why they didn't have a mask. We were rushed. It was horrible for people with a disability.
"One of my favorite resorts"
The rooms are clean and very well maintained. It's generally understaffed. Expect wait times longer than usual on weekends. The casino is close to one hiking trail. The rest are nearby at the RockyGap state Park. Things to do include paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, fishing. The casino staff is very nice and friendly. Low limit tables. Drinks are not cheap. Food is very average. Had a great time.
"Long Weekend Getaway"
My husband and I discovered Rocky Gap Resort while trying to figure out a place to go for a long weekend getaway that wasn't too far of a drive. Rocky Gap is about a two hour drive for us so that was great! We had a room on the 6th floor with an amazing view of the lake. This trip was extremely relaxing and the grounds are beautiful. My husband enjoyed the casino while I sat and read my book by the lake. We can't wait to come back!
"Really Great Small Casino CASINO REVIEW ONLY 4.0/5.0"
This is a smaller casino that checks off all the boxes. I go for slots and I love having tons of choices. So, I was a little hesitant going to a smaller casino BUT they didn't make it feel small. They have a clever layout and it has a fun atmosphere to it that makes you feel like you're in a big sized casino. The machines were pretty nice to me and I found the staff friendly.
"Great Golf Weekend!"
First time staying here last weekend. My husband and I took a quick getaway to relax and golf. Booked for 2 nights and ended up staying a 3rd. Property is clean, staff is super friendly and helpful. Casino is small but offers variety. Golf course is GORGEOUS. We will definitely return.
"Really?"
We have been coming here for 7 years now and I can really say that we always to seem to have a good time. I read a lot of reviews here that people have horrible experiences and I don't get it. Maybe expectations are too high. We only had one trip that was kinda bad in about 15 total. The place is always relaxing by the lake outside, food is pretty good, little pricey but it is a resort. When we first started coming the beer specials were unbelievable, 22 oz drafts of premium beers for only $4 plus free cups. My how times change now little more cost for little less beer. The grounds are nice and the rooms all renovated. The casino machines are a little tight but we have had some luck throughout the years and didn't break the bank. The only real issue I have anymore is the newer check on policy of 4 pm check in and people waiting in line for an hour. Also the up charge for early check in. Prior to the change never had to wait in line like that. If the room is ready, let people check in early, what's the difference? Then they are happy and spending money at the resort instead of pouting while waiting til 6pm for a room to be ready. I guess they have trouble staffing the place anymore for some reason but again when we do talk to staff, they seem happy and upbeat majority of the time. I would say to people wanting to try the place, go with less expectation and maybe you will leave a little happier.
"G"
Stayed 4 nights and that was 4!bights to many. The only things good were the food, views and golf. Service was horrible, casino really sucked. There was not enough staff and what staff they had were slow and non-attentive. Had to wait so long for food. The locals, visiting the casino, were great. Everyone was so nice and said hello. Will never return We went because we received a mailer and it looked great. I think they expect everyone will visit, gamble lose and they don't care if you ever return.
"COVID Stay"
Stayed here during COVID. So overall this review might not be relevant in time (let's all hope). PROS Very mask conscious, 100% of employees and all guests, including Casino. If you forget they reminded you (nicely). Wait Staff all wore gloves. Member Services wiped the counter after each use. Had people to open the enterance and exit doors so you don't need to touch the CON (for some) The casino could only allow 50% filled. So lines formed outside each night. Moved quickly, but easily 1\\2 hr wait at height. S few People were pretty ruffled in line. It didn't matter if you had a room key or not. Good: nice place. Clean. Staff nice. Grounds and view beautiful. Bad:for most of Sat only one elevator worked, not great. A little pricier than I expected. Miscl. non-Covid: Boats were pretty cool but $35 p\\hr. Pool is a cool set up, but tiny for more than group's of 2-3. Outdoor areas are plentiful and well maintained.
"Road Trip"
To begin with we traveled 6 hours to get to Rocky Gap. We called ahead 1 week or more to have adjoining rooms and early arrival. When we got to the hotel we were told our two rooms were not clean and that was the only two adjoining rooms they had. Staff was very vague and non interested in helping. They advised us that they would put a rush on cleaning and to go have lunch or wait in our car. (Temps were in excess of 90 degrees). Due to having two elderly parents in their 80s we opted for going to the restaurant downstairs from the hotel. The blond waitress acted as though we were a bother to seat. We order 1 pizza and French fries and one hamburger. It took 1.5 hours to get the food and the pizza was cooked incorrectly. The waiter was very nice though, a young man. It was 4:15 (check in is 4) when we were back up in the lobby. We ask if our rooms were ready, only to be told by another non interested staff member that they still were not clean to check back at 4! When I ask her what time it was she said 415, she obviously was not mentally into what she was doing. After waiting 45 minutes more at 5, we ask once again to be told the same thing, the rooms were not clean. Needless to say my patience had run out, and I became a bit vocal. A staff member named Rhonda was our hero. She found 2 rooms, adjoining (hey they had more than the two that were dirty) and got us checked in around 545. Next For a resort the food is horrible, it is frozen,, boxed, and tastes like cardboard. I have a picture of the pizza we got from the little Cafe in lobby the second day. Next, There is an obvious lack of interest in the employees that work at this establishment. We spoke to housekeeping, rude, we spoke to restaurant servers, rude, security, rude...I do believe Rocky Gap needs some employee training in effective communication for guests. One good note the room was okay, terrible view of parking lot. Only way I will stay or gamble here again is under new management or have heard that things have changed.
"Disappointed "
My husband and I decided to stay here based off of recommendations from friends as well as the website details. I was highly disappointed in the resort upon arrival. The resort is set in the middle of beautiful rolling hills with a lake and a golf course however it would have been nice to see that from our room. On the website it states our view from the room would be a beautiful 18-hole golf course but the reality was we saw 18 golf carts and all the cars in the parking lot. Our room appeared to be clean which was great and then upon pulling the sheets back there was strands of hair under the sheets on both of the beds in the room and the pillows had stains on them and to top it off we were awaken by the screams of a young child every morning at 8 am( not the resorts fault but the walls are thin). The spa was not open which was not publicized on their website but stated it was open daily from 9-6 and we only found out when we wanted to book a service that is was closed. Last but not least we decided to have dinner, we paid $100 for two burgers and a bowl of soup. It took almost 45 minutes for our burgers to come out which were overcooked and very dry. The server was very pleasant as well as the hostess but the food was not worth the money we paid.
"Disappointed this time through"
It as been several years since we traveled though and stayed here. Seems there has been deterioration in staff, hospitality, and general public areas, other than outside. The outside areas remain beautiful morning until evening and after dark. It is our favorite place to spend time when there. The room was very clean. We felt COVID safe. The staff were not very nice, and when we went to check in and get in line at 3:30, after standing in line for over 45 minutes, we were told our room was not ready. Ugh. They said come back in an hour, ad we were not allowed to walk around the grounds nor did they give us keycards for gambling to pass the hour. We sat in the hot sun in the parking lot! One hour later we go back, wait in line for another hour, ugh, and told again, our room wasn't ready. Back out to the parking lot and another hour in the heat. Finally, although check in is at 4:00, our room was ready at 7:00pm. Not cool. For the amount of money you pay to stay there, it was disappointing. The bed thing, though, was there were doormen opening and closing and wiping down doors, for health and safety which was awesome. Not sure if we will stay there again anime soon for the amount we paid for our room, and the unfriendly, inhospitable staff.
"USELESS SECURITY"
A violent, screaming white man pushed, threatened, insulted a black family in the lobby with NO response from the security team. They watched from the edges of the room in groups as the angry man shoved people and hurled racial slurs at the poor family. If guards are being paid to keep people safe, then they better do it--and actually intervene. Unacceptable from a team designed to address violent incidences and protect clients.
"Safe, clean"
Only stayed one night but would go back. Covid safety. Every other slot machine used. Enforce masks. Beautiful. Relaxing beach, boat rental, outside dining, large rooms. Fire at night. Lovely experience.
"Weekend Getaway and Entertaining Show"
My husband and I went to the Rocky Gap Casino on Valentine's Day weekend for a show, not to gamble. We were entertained by a Patsy Cline impersonator and she was wonderful. We were the youngest couple in the audience and enjoyed watching the older couples dance and have fun. We stayed in nearby Frostburg and were just looking for something different to do. This was the month before everything shut down due to coronavirus so we were happy we got to go on this trip.
"Food service"
I waited 40 minutes for a burger with bacon and cheese and a bagel. After waiting the 40 minutes the lady at the counter called down to the kitchen to ask what was taking so long, they hadn't even started the order (I was the only one waiting on food). To top it off they gave me two forks to spread my cream cheese with, and messed up my burger...whoever is the cook there should be fired seriously.
"Rocky Gap Casino Round Two"
I gave it another chance and stayed there again because our friends wanted to go there. Again I was disappointed, but for different thing. Oh... the food is still terrible. My wife and I got a late night pizza from the Lil Munch shop to take back to the room. My pizza was cold and tasted like cardboard. Also I asked for pepperoni and there was none on it. My wife ordered the small personal pizza with just cheese, hers looked like it was thrown in the container pieces were upside down and it was cold. Mind you, we went straight to the room when we got the pizza and it was cold. They did remodel the rooms and they look nice. BUT... the shower has no lettering for hot or cold so you put it where you think the hot would be. No no no, thats not it, when you change the position it takes about 10 seconds before it actually comes out if it's cold which it was you freeze and try to get out of the way until you can find the hot. That is unacceptable. The casino has a nice variety of slots, but most of the chairs are terrible. The vinyl is torn or cracked to the point you hate to set on the seat. I'm not exaggerating, they are unsightly. Then my ticket wouldn't print out and it took almost 30 min for someone to come. Then of course it was not a simple fix. They had to hand pay me because the ticket had no printing on it. that took another 20 min. I was pissed as that was my last 40 bucks and I couldn't leave until they came back to pay me. It was just a sorry stay again. Oh and you hear anyone coming past your door talking so it's hard to get to sleep. One bright side, we complained about the pizza and got a refund. For a Resort destination they need to do better.
JOEY Barlow, Agency / Consultant at Rocky Gap Casino Resort, responded to this review
Let me begin with a sincere apology for the unacceptable experience you encountered at our resort. Our goal and mission, is to not only meet your expectations but to exceed them, we obviously failed you in multiple areas. "Valet Services went above and beyond!"
Our car broke down on the way up the mountain and we just happened to be at the Rocky Gap Resort exit. They didn't have any vacancies, but their AMAZING valet service loaded up our two year old and 9 month old, car seats, and all of our luggage and drove us to another hotel in Cumberland. They were so kind and immediately helpful and I'm really not sure what I would have done with two sleeping babies at 10PM without a car if they didn't come to our rescue. I never write reviews, but hope hotel management sees this so that you can commend your valet services team/our real life super heroes!!!

"Moms Birthday "
Ok casino, some wins, but the only reason I give two stars, was one the lady at the cashier/player club was extremely rude. And two right before I left we were playing a game at th e exit door and some employee, young man, threw a drink at the trash, hitting me. Not good. My shirt was soaked and he walked on without even a word. Then went back the next morning and low and behold one more rude and nasty floor tech. Just not good business.

"!!REFRESHING CHANGE FROM USUAL CASINO ENVIRONMENT!!"
Rocky Gap Casino & Resort is a refreshing experience from other casinos. Very clean and exceptionally maintained. Although smaller than larger casinos, there is still the fun atmosphere and exceptional slots. Table games are truly fun. The dealers are professional and entertaining, and, actually, help you learn a game you have never played before. No smoking at all. Smokers have their own small casino room. LBs Steakhouse is exceptional quality food and awesome wait staff. This resort has a professional golf course, white sand beach, hiking trails, paddle boat rentals. Highly recommend for a great change in gaming environments.

"A flawless place to host our retreat!"
My organization and I are over the moon with the accommodations that Rocky Gapy Casino and Resort have provided for us during our retreat. Everything from the A/C support, to the lunch, to the rooms and the staff was flawless. Zach and AJ from the events department were incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a space to hold a professional or personal retreat.

"Fun stay at Rocky Gap Casino!"
My husband and I went and stayed a night here. We had such a fun time! Our room was very clean and nicely kept. The bed was extremely comfortable! We ate at Signatures and I got the quesadilla meal and it met my expectations for bar food. Actually, pretty yummy! We took advantage of the free soda and coffee they provide inside the casino. The free valet that is offered is a very big plus! Big variety of slots to choose from. Rocky Gap is a very nice place to visit anytime, even if for a couple hours! My husband and I had a very nice stay and can not wait to return! Thank you Rocky Gap!

"A Great Stay!"
We went to Rocky Gap Casino Resort for one night and rented 3 rooms. All of us were very happy with the accommodations. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The dinner buffet and breakfast buffet were very good. The casino was on the smaller size but was large enough. The only things that would have made it better were some larger tables to sit around to play cards as a group. Also, lower starting tables at the blackjack for longer periods of time. The $5 bet table was only available for a short period of time. We will go back!

"Great Times With Friends!!"
First off it's beautiful there!! The place is spotless!! The casino has friendly dealers that will help you especially during the off peak hours. The peddle boats are really fun and will hold rather large people.. The rooms were very nice and the lake view is perfect.. The bars are numerous, the outdoor seating is really comfy.. Loved it!!

"Room should have come with a warning"
I have stayed here several times and have always had a great experience until my most recent trip. We paid over $400 for 1 night and when we went to our room it was awful. Very close to the elevator banks and we could hear everything from the beeping of the elevator to the doors on it opening...anyone who walked by we could hear their conversations etc. The hotel was sold out so switching rooms was not an option. We decided to check out and rive home. The girl at checkout advised to email the supervisor the next day and they would take care of my very early departure. Well next day I did and was told I should have called security for the noise level! Security...for normal noise that seems ridiculous. He was unsympathetic and refused to refund or partial refund my stay and told me basically my fault for not asking originally for a room away from the elevator. I also felt sllightly unsafe when I could hear the casino staff discussing a man playing who had a stolen card and that the supervisor on duty was going to basically not do anything about it. I am dissapointed by the response of my issue and will not be returning and will stop telling people to visit if this is how they treat loyal guests.

"Relaxing ambiance!!!!"
Rocky gap casino is just amazing!! This is a smaller resort with a casino and restaurants. This is lake front with a state park. The resort has a golf course, spa, indoor pool, and a casino. They offer shuttles to Cumberland MD or to any events that Rocky Gap offers. Several times a year, they have concerts and events offered. The casino is small but cozy. It is smoke free as they offer two small smoking areas that are closed off from the rest of the casino. They do have table games located in the center of the casino. They have slot machines. Although it is small, they have a great variety and they seem to pay out decently. The buffet food is decent. The breakfast buffet is really good. The bar by the lobby has good breakfast food and the personal or reg pizza is good. On Friday and sat nights, they offer hand carved turkey or prime rib sandwiches which are amazing!!! The resort has comedy club nights and events. Their concerts are awesome. The comedy clubs are usually a good time!! The rooms at Rocky Gap are awesome!! They are newly renovated. The bathrooms are marble with glass doors on the shower. The beds are large and comfy!!!
"Very disappointed"
Wanted a night away and thought we'd give a local place a shot. Hotel room was ok, bed was hard and squeaked, pillows were flat. We could very clearly hear the next rooms tv through our wall, which kept me up awhile. Upgrade included concierge lounge with light snacks and drinks. Food was cold (suppose to be hot) and was tasteless. Also included breakfast the next morning and again, all the food was awful. Fried potatoes were mushy, eggs were runny and the pork sausage links had a weird, hard casing and the inside was mushy. Ok, so for dinner we decide to go to Lakeside buffet and I have to say it was the most tasteless food I have ever eaten. I tried the scalloped potatoes, turkey, fried chicken, and macaroni and cheese and it was all tasteless with no salt or spices and the turkey was cold and dry. The only thing that was ok was the desserts but even that was just pie and cake out of a box. Highly disappointing considering it is almost $20 per person. The pool is small, the hot tub MIGHT fit 4 people if you want to sit almost on each other. I gave this 2 stars strictly because of the casino, which is nice, laid out well and really the only part worth going to. Beyond that, I guess if you're going to the casino to get drunk, the hotel will suit your needs so you don't drive anywhere. Will not be back and would not recommend to anyone.
"Mrs."
Had reservations 2 wks prior, arrived and told casino closed, could not check in, ect. No one called to tell us! So many guests in 1 bar that was open, NOT happy!! Now waiting 3 hrs to see if we can check in. Whose in charge? No one!
"relax Rocky Gap"
The view of the lake is breath taking and very soothing to the soul. Paths to walk, park to vist, golf course, lets not forget food, I am hooked on the Pub for great pizza and burgers etc. Breakfast is a buffet and you can create your own egg omelets with the cheft. Casino has great slots, surcutity is great and all employees are friendly and nice. Rooms are good size, get lake view, and clean.
"casino"
Wonderful place, not too crowded. They have a smoking area to gamble. They also have an event area, and a little cafe where you can grab a quick bite to eat. Plenty of parking, and a view of the lake to enjoy.
"Anniversary "
The resort was a nice getaway , location was perfect. The staff was nice. We were not told about the restaurants there so paid quite a bit to eat at the buffets there , in which i would give a 3 out of 5 . I expected the food to be great , but it was mediocre. The atmosphere was overall great!I would give a 5 but cant because of the food.
"Fall Visit"
Stopped in with family member for a visit before the weather turned cold and snowy for the winter. It was on a Sunday. We stayed the night. They were not too busy, steady. They have slots, table games, keno games, restaurants, spa, indoor pool, golf course on site. They need to try and get some different slots, at least some of the ones that we like to play. Table games were fine. Beds were on firmer side, need a little bit softer ones and a quieter heater fan. Ours was very loud. Overall very good.
