We've stayed at other Best Western hotels before but NOT one like this. Although some of the staffs were nice & friendly, you couldn't tell who was who without uniforms or name tags. Room had many carpet stains & had a musty smell, the toilet was so stained and kept running all day/night. Only one elevator was working and many folks got stuck. The surroundings did not seem to be the safest part of town as we saw an exchange and men urinating right on the parking lot. Supposedly there was a security guard but could not tell who he was. He was in plain clothings, no name tag or shirt that could tell us he was security. He was smoking outside the door most of the times I saw him. I happened to know who he was because someone talked to him earlier and he mentioned he was security. Will not recommend this hotel.

This hotel experience was the absolute worst I have ever had. My room was a disaster and was so dirty that I didn't even feel comfortable while sleeping. When I first arrived, my smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector were chirping. I informed the front desk and they came twice to "fix" it but said, "if this doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you" after their last attempt. I had to unplug both devices and went one night without these safety features in my room. The next day both devices were replaced and there was no more chirping. However, there were stains all over the carpet, mold on the walls of the bathroom, the toilet didn't flush well, the bathroom door was very dirty, the AC made an awful noise, there was a vomit stain on my mattress and the sheets/bedding did not feel clean and there were ants crawling. Absolutely atrocious. My son got stuck in the elevator and only one of them was in working order. The front desk staff was so inattentive -- you had to wave them down from their smoking breaks right outside of the front doors to get any help and when they did help it wasn't affective. We were in town for a very large soccer tournament so all of the hotels within a 50 mile radius were booked/sold out. When I asked about a new room I was told they didn't have anything. Upon checkout I was offered a $60 discount on my room and a very shallow apology. I expected half or more off of the amount I was charged. I will be emailing the travel agency (who I was in contact with the entire time we were there) as well as escalating this to corporate because I want my money back. I will never stay at a Best Western again!

While the staff was kind, I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. We had to stay here for a soccer tournament, and this hotel was totally unprepared. Only one of the three elevators was in order, and only two floors had working ice machines. Breakfast was spotty with items being regularly out or inedible and the pool was out of order, which is exactly what you want when staying at a place and there is a heat advisory. When a hotel knows they are a booking site for a tournament (they obviously knew, as they had to reserve the room blocks, and had a sign our welcoming clubs, they cannot be this unprepared. Teammates had items stolen from rooms and it was overall a terrible experience.If I had booked this at the last minute or from being stranded on a trip, I would get less than optimal conditions, but when they had months to prepare, got to charge a high rate and knew the folks staying there literally had no choice, this was inexcusable.

This downtown hotel was apparently undergoing a switch from a Fairfield to a Best Western property. As such, parts of it seemed a bit tattered, especially the two-of-three working elevators. Nevertheless, the staff were friendly and eager to be helpful, especially in finding nearby restaurants. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom multi-function showerhead provided a wonderful morning cleanse. The breakfast was disappointing and included a non-functioning coffee machine. (Instead, we sought out an excellent downtown breakfast at the nearby Swiftwater Cafe.) And the open-air parking lot seemed problematic in such a downtown location, though we experienced no trouble.

Our stay was amazing from the time we arrived. the front desk staff were so cheerful and helpful. the way they interacted with my family, made me want to come back again. I am so grateful for them. The bacon at breakfast was my favorite. My family had a blast.

Check in was easy and staff was most helpful. The room was very clean, bed was so comfortable and so were the pillows. Bathroom was updated and cleaned. Shower pressure was phenomenal and perfect temp. Definitely a great place to stay.

Hotel was clean which is the only reason why I rated a two instead if a one. The breakfast was a disaster, elevator was scary and two of them were out of order, fitness center out of order..day employees were slightly rude. The toilet ran off and on all night. The bed was comfortable. Will never stay here again..not sure if this is standard Best Western or the exception but we will be very cautious about staying Best Westerns again and we travel frequently through the year!

When booking online I found that Best Western offered the cheapest rate during my stay…Especially for a last minute trip. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I felt very safe in this location. I will definitely be booking my next stay with best western in the future.

We stayed at the Best Western Hotel and we enjoyed every minute during out visit. The hotel was in the heart of downtown. We felt safe in the area even when we traveled to and from the hotel at night.

No hot water - therefore, no showers. Hot breakfast put away at 9 AM, after being told it was open until 10 AM - therefore no hot breakfast. Manager said we needed "an attitude adjustment" when we complained. In customer service, you diffuse conflict, not escalate it. You listen, you reflect back what you're hearing, you sympathize, you ask what you can do to make things right, you do what ever is reasonably needed not to get a review like this. You never ever take things personally, you don't say the manager is unavailable, you never insult the customer. If I had been this person's boss and heard this exchange, I would have fired her on the spot (after 30 years she should know better). Corporate needs to spend some time, money and training on this facility. Routine maintenance issues abound, elevator (1 of 3) out of service, towel hook fixture in our room fell out when we hung a wet towel, working elevators give the impression of well worn service elevators and extensive damage to Washington St side ground floor roof. As mentioned before the boiler that delivers hot water to the rooms has been out of order for at least two weeks.

Last minute for staying the night for the Koe Wetzel concert it was great. Friendly and straight to the point, we got our room and the staff was truly sweet as can be I will come back to stay. It was straight shot to the coliseum from the hotel.

My stuff was covered in ants and spiders when I woke up did not receive a refund. The phone didn't work the water was cold. I had to throw half my food away. This isn't the first hotel in this area I have had issues with either.

This hotel has a great welcoming staff that will go above and beyond. To make sure that you are taking care of there. They have a great breakfast with a massive amount of varieties, including 2 different ways. They cook eggs and 3 different options. For meat. Which was awesome, they do great things for kids. I didn't have any kids staying with them. But my friends did and I watched the staff. Greet those kids with bags full of little snacks, and fun. Little games that they could play. I was so happy to see that. The rooms are cleaned beyond exception. If you ask for anything that are the staff will get it for you immediately. Everyone. There was so friendly and so kind and took the time to talk to me as if I was more than just a tourist and treated me like I was. One of their friends, which was amazing. I didn't know them at all but yet they took the extra time to talk to me and just figure out who I was, which was great. The rooms were so clean you're room is cleaned everyday unless you tell them not to without them even asking you if you want it, you can always have your room cleaned. There's more towels than you would think of for the bathroom, the windows open a little bit, but the air conditioner is wonderful. You have a great selection of TV channels, including paperview and on demand through Comcast which is free. They have great internet. I don't know what else I can say other than they are just a great hotel like every Best Western is.

No laundry despite laundry being listed as an available service (self serve or otherwise). Room is “clean” (e.g. inner toilet bowl is clean but if you put the seat down, there is dust and hair on the back of the toilet/lid), there are fruit flies coming from who knows where, Fitness center is out of order (no indication as to why). There are three elevators but only one works. Breakfast is subpar at best - there are waffle makers but no waffle batter. Front desk staff who cleans up the breakfast area has her phone full blast either listening to music so loud you can barely talk to the person sitting next to you, or on the phone with her friend loudly talking about entirely inappropriate topics (e.g., personal friend drama, complaining about guests, etc.). Other front desk staff have been polite and have given recommendations of places to eat in the area. Shower water pressure is decent but it takes a good while to get hot enough. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. Towel rack is literally in the shower. Bathroom is tiny, minimal counter space. Beds are comfortable. Linens are clean. Microwave and fridge in the room.

I was in West Virginia to pick up my son returning home from his military services. The hotel was in close proximity to the airport, which was very nice and was also very close to his check and point for his continued services. Everything was in close proximity and it was a very simple, easy trip. The stay was excellent I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We had ants in our room, evening hours the showers were not hot at all, a friend in the room two doors down had standing water in the shower, 2 out of the 3 elevators were not working. At one point, all three were not working. (It was operating again the same day, but very inconvenient). As I mentioned before, the breakfast would have been good if they had enough (quantity) of the items. If I knew a convention was going to be in town and a lot of my customers were staying at my hotel, I would make sure I made more breakfast. (We ate at 9am each day) Not a very pleasurable experience. I will be recommending to the convention director we choose a different hotel with working amenities. With that being said, the staff was top notch!!! Very professional and friendly!

I had a quick stopover heading from NC to Ohio, and reserved a room at this Best Western for the night. The good stuff: Man o man, was the staff kind, considerate, helpful, and over the top hospitable. A few examples: There was no luggage trolly in the lobby when we arrived. The desk attendant apologized, personally searched every floor for any that were in the halls, and failing finding any there, went to THE NEIGHBORING HOTEL to borrow one for our use. Completely over the top. When we got to our room, we got a call asking how the room was. We had an issue with hot water later, and the desk guy - same guy I think, went and personally reset the boiler and then checked back twenty minutes later to be sure we had hot water. He took two batteries out of his personal electronic device to replace the dead ones in our TV remote. The lady that was also at the desk was fast, efficient, and informative when we had questions about area restaurants and attractions. You never get this kind of service... ever. So, like seven stars for service. The room itself, was clean, smelled nice, and everything worked - until the batteries in the remote died, which, c'mon... that just happens. Oh, and it was QUIET! Pretty sure it's an older building that went up before the paper-thin walls era. The less than great stuff: The hotel shows some age and a little wear. Scuffed tables, work underway, work that still needs to be done. It is not the perfection you might expect from the Ritz, but then you aren't paying Ritz prices either. The neighborhood feels a little iffy. There are some unhoused folks within the several blocks around the hotel. However, at no point did I feel threatened, and the parking is well lit. No one the night stayed had any problems, and there was a convention in town that weekend, with lots of cars, carrying lots of expensive stuff, and no issues. Overall the stay was well worth the money. They are obviously working to make it a superior stay, and I am certain with this staff, they'll get there.

Elevators broken. Carpet was stained. Had to downgrade to a 1 bed to share with 3 other people because their website “overbooked” the receptionist said. Although I booked nearly 3 weeks prior to the stay. No discount was offered for the inconvenience. Not worth the money whatsoever.

Great proximity to the centre of town and festivities in the river. Good breakfast and coffee available during the day. Microwave and coffee machine in room. The room had windows you could open so that you could get some fresh air.

The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She made us aware of the local events and gave us a flyer listing local restaurants with directions. Only one of three elevators was in service as the other two were being "renovated." There was a black sticker on one of the elevator buttons with an accompanying note that stated: Don't press this button or the elevator will become stuck. Did not feel safe in the elevator. At 4 am we were awakened on the 8th floor by a group of what appeared to be several homeless folks confronting the person that was watching over the hotel parking lot. There was a lot of screaming and threatening behavior. I don't feel safe here

Went to a late night event at Clay Center and this hotel was right across the street. It's a basic place, kinda worn out but staff was cool and breakfast was good. (Told them about a few minor broken things at checkout and they were right on it.) Location can't be beat. Don't leave valuables in car, kinda shady looking parking lot like any inner city location. We'd stay here again if going to Clay Center theater at night. If I was management I'd invest in renovating rooms, then you could charge more because of perfect location. Staff was nice though, that offset worn condition of facilities.

Upon arrival, I informed front desk of no hot water. Was told to let it run for 15 minutes. Hour later, still no hot water. Next morning, still no hot water. Spoke to maintenance and they said the boilers needed replaced. They haven't had hot water for months. I do not recommend staying here.

Horrible! Concert weekend, place reeked of weed, NO HOT WATER FOR TWO NIGHTS, FURNACE was broke, people lying in the hall sleeping because of no security! Scary elevator! Filth to no end everywhere! I asked about the hot water or lack of and was told to let it run for 1/2 hour, no hot water because I was on the 8th floor, “I have no clue why you have no hot water”. Well evidently they did know since September due to previous reviews! More wrong than right! Save your money stay somewhere else!

We had no hot warm. It was lukewarm. We were told to let it run for a while, we did still no hot water. They only had 1 luggage care for the whole hotel, and only 1 working elevator for the enter hotel. Staff was very friendly.

This is by far one of the best hotels to stay at on this side of Charleston. The staff for the most part are amazing. The rooms are absolutely spotless and the beds are super comfy. I LOVE IT THERE!!!

The hotel and services were excellent but the area left much to be desired especially since there was no security camera. Our vehicle was robbed and there was nothing that could be done about it. You didn't feel safe walking or even driving very far to get dinner. Nice hotel just bad district. Really needs security cameras.

On our way home to visit family and friends. This hotel is easy off and on access to major highway. It is in downtown Charleston however we did not have time to visit the city. Hotel staff is exceptional with great service.

This hotel staff was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had in recent memory . Upon arrival I was greeted with a warm smile and was asked if I had any special room requests. The hotel is under going renovations and the desk clerk explained we may need to run our water for a short time in order for it to reach temperature The room was super comfortable Due to the renovation we had to walk across a short parking lot (20yards at the most) to a sister hotel for breakfast. The breakfast selection had many delicious options. Would we stay here again? You bet we would This staff was so pleasant we would stay here for that reason alone

Passing through at a road trip. Hotel is under renovation and it looks a little untidy. However, staff are helpful and nice. Rooms are clean and quiet and we had a good night sleep. When this hotel are done renovating it will be a great hotel to visit.

We stayed at the Best Western in Charleston, WV from 7/19/22-7/20/22. I was reading the reviews on the way and was thinking, oh great. We didn't check in till almost 9:30 pm. The person that checked us in had been taking a break outside. The breakfast area had plastic covering it and we were told we would be eating breakfast at the Quality Inn next door. That was mentioned in a review. Also we couldn't press the LL button on the elevator or it would get stuck. There was a note and the button was taped up. That was also mentioned in a review. Got to our room on the 8th floor. My husband didn't tell me till after the fact that there was no shower curtain. Not happening, so I took the elevator downstairs. The doors were wide open and no one was around. I was downstairs for 10 or 15 minutes and went back upstairs. I called the front desk. The phone rang and rang and disconnected so I called back and someone picked up. I explained what we needed. I went back downstairs. Asked for a shower curtain and was told none were available. I think she said they were locked downstairs or something. She gave keys to another room on the 8th floor and told us to leave the keys in the room once we were done. The new room did have a shower curtain, but no bathroom door. There was hardware for a barn door. The water did not get very hot in the shower and it drained very slow. I almost fell in the tub from the water draining slow and there was not a non-skid bottom. There were only 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel and 2 washcloths.. The tv was not HD. The fridge was lopsided. The only good thing was the bed was comfortable. There were 4 pillows for a king bed and the A/C worked really well. Breakfast was okay. There was no yogurt or fruit at the Quality Inn. They were under renovation too. The morning staff was friendly and we were told we would be given bonus points for our inconvenience. When I asked when the renovations would be done, she didn't know.

Choose elsewhere. Absolutely rude front desk woman, refused to help me or transfer my reservation to a closer BW when the highway was impassable due to flash flood/thunderstorm. In spite of other BW employees assuring me otherwise, this location did not care and hung up. I had to pay for 2 stays in spite of me making the reservation directly through them 2 hours prior. Called crying from the side of the road in the storm. Will never use BW again if this is how they value customers.

When paying to stay in a hotel that offers complimentary continental breakfast and claims to provide many of the amenities of home, having to leave the hotel and purchase breakfast separately in order to actually have breakfast and having to leave the hotel to shower elsewhere in order to be able to stay in the shower long enough to be fully clean are unacceptable. The only things that turned out to not be total disappointments were the bed actually being comfortable and the room itself being clean, even if the hotel only provided 2 towels for the whole room. I guess that didn't really matter, given the inability to even shower at the hotel. 1. GET HOT WATER!!! 2. Have breakfast, and have enough of it for everybody. Healthy options were obsolete. 3. Have fully functional elevators. 4. Treat the mold/mildew odor. 5. Inform guests when they call to reserve a room that the property is undergoing renovations so descriptions of hotel online may differ from what you actually get. On a positive note though, the front desk staff were very friendly and made the stay not so bad.

I may never stay at a Best Western again. I had no idea the hotel was under construction, but the desk attendant said it had been for months, as she ate and checked me in. As I was checking in people were complaining about the plumbing. The elevators had paper signs about which buttons to push and not push. The room was reasonably clean, with hair in the tub. The shower dripped, all night. There were clearly no policies and procedures and it was expensive because everything was booked for a concert.

This place is a dump! First off, you pull up and just know from the lack of anything other than bars around it, this isn't a good area. We asked about breakfast (advertised as included with our stay) because I notice the dining area has plastic sheeting over it and doesn't look as though it's functional. We're told we will have to go next door to the Quality Inn to get our continental breakfast. Say what?! After checking in we found the elevators are barely functional. Two do not work. And there's a sign saying not to push the LL button or it'll get stuck! There's only room for one person with luggage in the one functional elevator, so for our party of six, that meant several trips to get up to our rooms on the seventh floor. We get to the rooms (we had two) and the smell in the hall was a mix of smoke, ammonia, and something foul. After a ten hour trip folks needed to use the facilities. Unfortunately, the toilet in one room flooded after using it once to pee. We called the front desk and they sent up towels and a plunger. That's it! After mopping up the floor we decide only one of the two toilets between our adjoined rooms should be used. My oldest child (who is 18) decided to shower. The water never got above luke warm and the tub took 30 minutes to drain! By this time it's 8:30 PM, so I'm trying to get my littlest child (age 7) to get some sleep. I walk over to her bed and find the floor soaked! The AC unit is leaking water and the carpet is saturated! The wall next to the unit looks suspiciously like it's got mold! MOLD! My husband finds the unit in our room doesn't do anything except blow outside air so it's muggy in our room. The last straw was finding ants crawling over the night stand between the beds! My husband complained to the front desk who refunded our stay. We packed up our stuff and kids and left. We stayed only two hours. We chose to drive the fours remaining hours home rather than stay another minute in that place! The Google reviews online for this place must be fake. There's no way this place is anything other than trash. Do NOT stay here!

I went with my friend for a couple of days into Charleston West Virginia and stayed at the Best Western their web site says upgraded 2022 although the pool was closed but we did not need that so we chose this hotel for its location, our booking we did over the phone and the receptionist (Elsie) was curt but the young man we met at reception when we entered was the opposite very welcoming. The hotel was easy to get to and on walking into the room there was a musty smell but the beds looked clean our main thought. As we unpacked we found the room dusty with hairs in the bathroom ceramics, we turned up the AC which was quite noisy we thought that would remove the musty smell then we went out to explore. We returned late and the room felt damp a few dollars we had left on the side were damp to the touch. We were told the kitchen would be open the following morning 7-9 but at 8.30am the workmen had started so we had to go to the Quality Inn next door (the breakfast there being available till 10am) but there was very little left and no staff to speak to. Our saving grace for this trip was the reinvention of the Sternwheel Regatta a five day street party each afternoon/evening with live music food and drink stalls things arranged for kids and adults alike. We were just surprised more shops, bars and restaurants in the area were not open but possibly in years to come this event will mark itself on the calendar. We were glad to get out of the Best Western but not out of Charleston it was charming.

This Best Western is a short walk to the downtown mall (where we ate dinner) and the Charleston Coliseum (where we attended an amazing Brooks and Dunn concert). The entire Best Western staff are courteous and helpful. The facility has been renovated recently and is nicely appointed. I highly recommend.

Clean, comfortable, and full hot breakfast was excellent! We stopped for a quick overnight, so we aren't sure about the area and whether it is safe to go walking or not. Staff was helpful and courteous.

Location was excellent !! Easy to get to, off the interstate !! Lots within walking distance !! Under renovation ☹️ We were on the 7th floor. Hot water wasn't very hot ☹️ Wi-fi was very slooow ☹️ Breakfast had alot to choose from if you get there early. Restocking wasn't so great ☹️ Great rate $88, single king, great location !! Recommend Pint and Pie !!

Quick summary: in-town hotel with complimentary parking. Very comfortable room. Great breakfast. Wifi was a little skippy, but might be related to renovation taking place in May 2022. Friendly, professional service. We stayed in room 703 (8-story hotel) in a room with two VERY comfy beds and pillows. the room overlooks a central post office (lots of trucks) and what looks like a convention or arts center. The usual amenities we expect of a BW hotel: coffee/tea maker, fridge (this one with a freezer!), good work desk, sitting chair, chest of drawers, TV that works well with lots of channels. THANK YOU for having a printed guide, as these are disappearing and I hate scrolling through hundreds of channels. Clean bathroom with tub/shower combo. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion included. HVAC worked very well, but the wifi was a bit skippy. The wifi issue was unexpected as the hotel was pretty empty at this time, and seemed fast enough. Spotless housekeeping. Friendly, professional service throughout. Great breakfast included two types of omelettes, sausage, waffles, breads/bagels, cereals, juices, fresh fruit, good coffee with half-and-half, not just creamer (yay!!) You are not far (walking distance) from so nice restaurants, but the streets were rather empty and we did not feel confident to walk to them. We might have done so if there was more activity around, such as when their state gov't is in session. 'Just being cautious. Due diligence: 1. The hotel is undergoing renovation. A few areas looked like they were due, e.g. dents and dings in the elevator, etc. Nothing serious to affect your comfort, but it will be a nicer hotel with some TLC. We were not at all bothered by noise, so the renovation is being managed well. 2. Parking is complimentary, but not in a secured lot. This generally does not bother me at most off-the-highway-type locations that have security cameras, but you are right in town here. I would have liked a more secure fenced lot that only guests have access to. So - we'd be happy to stay here again, with those relativley minor caveats.

This hotel has recently undergone an upgrade and the remodeled room met all our needs. The negative reviews from the past were under a different hotel brand and should not be taken into consideration when reviewing this property. We would stay here again!

A calamity below 1 star hotel. Despite the advertised amenities on the hotel's website, no wifi, no cable TV, and no swimming pool. Furthermore, no A/C in the lobby, and no room keys. Breakfast was served in a nearby hotel with very limited choices and long queues. Tiny and extremely dirty gym. Dirty and often out of service elevator. Understaffed hotel with broken communication among shifts. Staff generally tried to do their best.

Room was filthy to begin with, plus nobody came to clean it in the five days I was there. I was given one towel and two rags, even though the room was for two people. Nobody ever restocked the towels. Went to the front desk and asked for more towels. Was told they were in the dryer and to come back in the morning. Came back in the morning and they still hadn't even been washed, so the worker from the night before lied to me. TV also didn't work. When I called front desk the same guy who lied to me said he would tell the maintenance guy to come fix it when he got there. No maintenance man ever came and I later found out that none of the TVs in the hotel worked and it had been that way for some time, so the worker must have known about it yet nothing was said at check-in or on the phone. Literally could not see out my window because it was so dirty. Elevators and room keys randomly stop working. Sign in the room says if you forgot anything to ask for complementary items at the front desk. They don't have any. Same guy as before also lied to me about when the manager would be there. One desk worker was actually honest about the hotel, but still was generally unhelpful. Did not call manager when there were literally no clean towels in the entire place and multiple people in need. I could go on and on. Probably the worst experience I've had with any business in my life

This hotel was run down which I was prepared for, but it was a lot worse than I would have expected. I arrived about 6:00 on a Thursday night and had an 7:20 flight the next morning. During that time I had one bag of sour patch kids which was folded over and sealed with a chip clip sitting on the tv stand, and by the next morning when I left there were ants all over my food and belongings. It was so gross. Also, the website says they have hair driers, but they don't. When I asked the front desk staff was so rude and implied I was an idiot for asking and that I needed to learn to take care of myself. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in all kinds of places, so I have reasonable expectations for what I will get with a Ramada in West Virginia verse other locations, but this was upsetting. Very disappointed in the lack of service and cleanliness.

Table had loose tobacco from previous guest. Box springs exposed. Drawers missing knobs. Blood stain sheet. Dirty sheet in hall all day. No mask maintenance man. Homeless camp a few yards behind building.

could be cleaner, fitness center being open would be nice. Stains on carpet getting off on the floor to room. Overall this was a decent stay. Will say again. very convenient to downtown area. Bed is comfortable
