This place met all our needs; our family of seven was on a road trip and needed a place to stay, called them around 9:30pm, they were super accommodating. Good price, breakfast in the morning was full with sausage, eggs muffins, cereal, fresh fruit and juice. The receptionist Kristin was really helpful and nice. The room was clean and very presentable

"Disappointing"

This was a very disappointing experience. We booked through an online site. This was the week of our wedding and we thought our children would enjoy the pool after the wedding. When we checked in they said their pool was under maintenance. We asked why didn't they mention this on their website or the online site. I checked their website before a day or 2 before as I was showing family. We were told "I don't know". We mentioned this was the main reason we chose them. We asked if they knew if there was another place in town. They said probably not as there was something going on in town. They said maybe maybe down the road (which was about a 45 minute drive away). Since they withheld information I asked for a discount or something. They said they would talk to the manager. The manager wouldn't talk to us. A fellow employee said the manager said they couldn't do anything. The reason was because we booked online. Another reason for the poor rating was because of the poor craftsmanship of their remodeling. Our room was supposed to be freshly remodeled. Once we walked into the room there were several holes in the walls. Plus, the floor tile border had pieces coming off. I brought this immediately to their attention. They didn't seem to care and just said ok.

"Hawkeye 2019 opener"

It is a nice short run to Iowa City for Hawkeye games. Go Hawks! It is easy to find and they are very willing to go the extra mile to accomodate. Pleasent and friendly and always helping others. Thank You

“I am contacting you out of the frustration I encountered this week regarding a stay I had a week ago at a BW Sure Stay Property in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This was my first experience with the low end of your brand, and quite frankly my experience was so horrendous I don't know why you would develop this brand or allow a place like this one to operate under your company. My experience was bad from the very start... I had reserved my room and requested an early check in. I arrive just before 1 PM to a mostly empty hotel parking lot and understand early check in is only a request. When I approached the front desk person “Bobby”, I requested to check in. She proceeded to lecture and “educate” me on the early and the unreasonable nature of my request. I affirmed that and handed her my ID and credit card. She didn't ask me if I had a reservation, and it was strange the agent assumed I didn't have a hotel reservation and had just walked in off the street wanting to rent one. Bobby started to type my name and address from my ID into her workstation and as I observed her actions reminded her I had a reservation and reacted surprised. That should have been my early warning sign or future bad things. After trying to browbeat me regarding my early check in, Bobby replied that my room was ready for check in. I had my $20 Best Western gift card at check in and she had no idea how to accept it. I also handed her a credit card which was different than the one on my bestwestern.com profile. I asked her to apply the room charges to this one. Unfortunately, the other card was attempted charged and resulted in a fraud alert by my financial institution later. Wandering the parking lot when I arrived at the hotel was an obese man in his 30's wandering aimlessly and talking on or listening to a mobile device. I didn't pay much mind to him at the time, other than it was strange looking for someone wandering by foot in a mostly empty parking lot. Later that night and into the early morning hours, that same person would be listening to extremely loud music just outside my room door of the hotel in the hall between 5-6 AM. I found him a few hours later smoking cigarettes just outside the hotel side door which was propped open by a small rock. It was unsettling to see a person loitering in and around the hotel to this degree, I questioned whether he had a room at the hotel. The room was barely tolerable. It resembled a room in the process of being updated, but the contractors stopped working before the end of the project completion. I had to visit the front desk to ask for a non existent DO NOT DISTURB sign. At that same time to the desk, I requested a 1 hour late check out which was granted until 12:00 noon. Starting at 11:15 AM on check out day, I received a telephone call from the front desk asking me if I was extending my hotel stay due to my inability to check out. I informed the person I was granted a late check out. 25 minutes later, that same person again called me to ask about extending my stay. Sadly I had to again remind her I had been granted a late check out until 12:00 noon. I have never been called about my late check out twice before at a hotel, anywhere, even by two separate people at the many hundreds of hotels I have stayed. At check out, it quickly became apparent my $20 gift card was not credited. I retrieved my iphone again to transact the number on the BW digital card. The GM, was working at the desk when I departed. She also didn't know how to credit the gift card, and she was working with another male, who promised me I would not be charged the full room rate without the discounted $20. I asked when I might expect the corrected amount charged to be finalized and she replied in 2 days. During the following two days, I continued to see the hold charge amount of $64.51 (it should have been $20.00 less), on the second day after check out, the GM called me and notified me she had decided to comp my room and give me “lots of BW points” due to all the inconvenience I went through about the charges and my stay. I asked when I might see the hold amount of $64.51 removed and the room charges comped as she informed and her reply was it had already been submitted to my financial institution. I also never received a copy of my check out folio either in person or digitally until the events escalated four days after check out when BW customer service got involved. On the third day after checking out, I saw the $64.51 charge actually submitted for payment by the hotel and was no longer on hold status. This was completely contrary to what the GM said the day before and I called her and left a voice message. On the fourth day, there was again no refund but a hotel charge for $64.51. I did not receive a return call from the GM, so I called her again and this time she actually answered the phone. I told her what I had seen with the charge over the past four days. She denied this and replied the charge was refunded to me on the exact same day the hold went to a charge by the hotel with my account. I offered REAL TIME supporting documentation from my bank, which I sent to her in an email. She on the other hand, offered no supporting documentation to prove her claim, only to attempt to intimidate me on the phone by telling me how many years of experience she had doing this sort of thing. After I asked for documentation to support her claim, she hung up on me. I next called Best Western customer support and filed a claim and three hours later I received a message from BW CS to call back. I called and after spending about 6 minutes on hold for the associate to read the file, I was placed on another hold for about 9 minutes waiting while I was being transferred to a supervisor. I hung up out of frustration since the associate did not tell me I was going to have to wait nearly 10 minutes on hold for a transfer. Two hours later, I tried this again. There was no resolution to my situation and the associate offered to transfer my call back to the GM of the hotel for clarification (as if I needed any)! After asking to be transferred to a supervisor, I ended up hanging up again after about 8 or 9 minutes waiting. No person from your company ever called or attempted to contact me that same day or since then.

"HOME AWAY FROM HOME, MOST DEFINATELY"

I recently stayed at this hotel because of the great price. My daughter is attending school in the area,The hotel was only minutes away from campus. the front desk was very helpful, polite, the cheerful attitude was very comfortingIt was a very relaxing stay I get sleepy easy, but no worries because there was coffee available in the lobby 24hrs. I even got to go swimming with my daughter. We were both able to do our laundry, which really made things easier for us. The beds were beyond comfortable, the rooms were fairly quiet, IT WAS AMAZING. I WILL FOR SURE BE BACK!.I love this little place. DUDE THEY EVEN HAD FREE cookies. YUMMM

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, and the experience was amazing, the staff was always helpful and pleasant, went out of their way to help in anyway, the breakfast was great!! And delicious, I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!!

Last night's stay at a different hotel in this same class and price zone had me fearing that another bad choice (smoky room, unclean, etc.) was in the cards for me. Not so! This was an excellent hotel that restored my faith in quality stays for relative bargains. It has the advantage of having been recently renovated, so there was not only no deep grime anywhere, but the carpet and walls and all seem like they are normally well cared for. Bed is very comfortable and sheets are good quality. Caveat is that the place may be SO recently renovated that it may be a bit of an illusion for far future travelers reading this: the plastic film protecting the digital clock face is still in place! Meanwhile however, I highly recommend SureStay. Quiet rooms, clean, friendly staff.

"Nice, clean, large rooms, good beds"

We stay often for business. Our work is often tiring. The rooms are large and neat. Scrupulously clean. The price is not too high. But we don't use much beyond the room itself and the internet. The beds are comfortable and spacious. The breakfast is a nice touch

Super friendly and helpful staff, the checkin process was easy and stress free!! clean rooms with great updates! Beds were very comfortable and I slept like a baby! I will definitely be staying again next time I'm in Cedar Rapids!!!!

We stayed here two nights to watch the Cedar Rapids Kernels play baseball. This used to be the Hometown Inn, but has switched to Best Western. They have made good improvements. Beds and pillows are new and super comfortable. I complained that the toilet did not seem to be properly bolted down and was a bit tippy..not good! The in room coffee maker was broken and it was disappointing that the pool was closed “for maintainence”. The breakfast scrambled eggs and sausages were cold. But all in all for the price not a bad place to stay.

Chose this place because of the price and would definitely stay again. We reserved a room with a king bed and ended up with a suite. Very clean. Beds super comfotable. My ONLY complaints are that the toilets are too low and beds too high.

Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. Beds and bathrooms clean. Pool small but clean, great for the grandkids. Appears newly renovated. Only suggestion is to switch out the carpet in the rooms to vinyl plank. Easier to keep clean. Perkins next door is a plus also. Will stay again if we go that way.
