Good experience I prefer this hotel for my next trips because the staff was very helpful and the rooms are pretty good and clean and morning breakfast was full of varieties especially the biscuits and gravy I like that very much and coffee was somewhat strong but it's good for coffee lovers

I've stayed at this property in the past and chose it for this trip due to the location and attractive room rate. There are plenty of good dining and drinking options within walking distance or short driving distance of the property. Rooms are clean and in working order. If there is a problem, it's addressed promptly. Breakfast is a little light, but there are restaurant options within walking distance if more options are desired.

Cockroach and black mold in the bathroom were the lowlights. Unfriendly, miserable staff did not add anything positive to the experience. It was not worth the few dollars we saved not staying at the other BW in town. This place is dank and dirty. I read so many reviews about how other guests' complaints were not addressed, I didn't even bother. Never again!

Messed up reservation and tried to charge same price for a cheaper room! I drove 2 hours and was tired. Customer service said they could not do anything nor did they try. I would have taken the second room if they had not tried to charge me the same. Their price was also higher than reserved price

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! We stayed here for one night with friends in Aug 2023. At first look everything looks fine however it is not a safe place to stay. During the night there was less then desirable people continually walking in the parking lot. I am making a assumption here but based on what I saw it appeared to be people selling something in the parking lot. You can use your imagination on what I am referring to. Lots of sketchy people in the area. These people were also going in and out of the hotel. When we checked in we were not told the TV was not working. The owner who told us he was from Toronto Canada said that he was waiting for someone to come and fix it leading us to believe it would be. However after he left for the evening the front desk lady advised that they were not coming until the morning. I asked for a discount based on this fact and was told to come see them in the morning and they would get the owner to come and speak with me. I advised them on our checkout time and sure enough the owner was not coming in until later. I was told that he would email me advising me of my discount but I am currently still waiting to hear from him. Coffee and breakfast was terrible. I do not expect much from continental breakfast but honestly it was the worse I have every had. It is cheap but not worth risking your safety. Most importantly our group did not feel safe at this establishment at all.

First night wd arrived late and having issues to check out due to payment on cc but the front desk staff helped me to get my room as quick as possible. Variety of breakfast specially the hot waffle and gravy.

We were there for family reunion meeting and the price we paid is much more cheaper than other hotels in the area. Caring and helpful staff. Allowed us to use meeting space at dinner time. Thank you to the cleaning staff for exceptional service.

We had visited the town for business and pleasure purpose and the service we received was better than price we paid in busy summer weekend. Overall clean hotel and friendly staff. Breakfast was continental but we liked hot waffle and milk cereals. They don't have varieties in muffin but we were okay.

Property is located near I-380, which runs through Cedar Rapids. General area includes a good variety of eating options within walking distance. Rates are reasonable and property is generally clean and well maintained.

Do not recommend staying at this hotel. It is not a safe place. Upon check in, we were given a room (112) that is known to have people break in through the windows. When we entered, there was coffee brewing, pills on the bathroom sink, used soap in the shower, garbage on the floor. We informed the front desk agent and were advised to close the window and we “should” be fine. Requested a change in room since travelling with 2 teenage girls. Should not have had to request a change in room, that should have automatically been offered. Seemed like a huge inconvenience to the agent for us to ask. Second room, we were informed that someone might be in there because sometimes the maintenance man lives in the room. Agent was absolutely unfriendly and uncaring. Door didn't lock in second room so had to barricade with the chair from the room. Breakfast is advertised as continental, but is definitely not. Overall, do not recommend.

Our fridge, TV, and microwave did not work. There was a light on the north facing wall that did not work. There were hairs all over the toilet. One of the beds a box spring were broke. The microwave and coffee pot were not cleaned the tray that the ice bucket was on was not clean. There was mold in the shower on the ceiling. There were outlet covers missing behind the TV and behind the nightstand between the two beds, the first lady that checked us in was super nice and very considerate the second lady that I talk to you when I found the problem was extremely rude, said that we would just have to sit in the room with none of that stuff working, and it being dirty for a “ few” hours, which I thought was ridiculous as I was paying for the room and one of the amenities that I had. She stopped some guy that was there installing TVs and said the issues we were having, and he told me he was just a contractor and he has nothing to do with any of that and that that TV was not scheduled to get upgraded that day or the next so I would just have to deal with this stuff, not working. The remote also had a piece of tape for the battery cover and did not work either.

We used our points for this particular stay. Which the hotel actually charged us for anyway and won't respond or communicate at all about a refund. When we checked in and had to use the restroom immediately found no toilet paper in the room at all. When we went to ask at the desk for some we were told we get one roll. Otherwise they had to go to storage and get it? How inconvenient. The drain in the bathroom sink was broken, the towel rack was broken off the wall. The shower curtain had stains from top to bottom that made me question if I wanted to use the shower or not. The toilet never stopped running so we got to sleep to the sound of running water all night. And hopefully you can balance because the toilet was so wobbly I don't even know if it was actually attached to the floor. And be careful walking the tile hall at night the roaches frequent that area. I would NOT recommend this hotel even if it was the only one available. I used to stay here alot. I will definitely chose different lodging in the future.

One star is a ge droid review. We arrived at about 10pm Friday night. A kind woman checked us on, albeit slowly, which she kindly explained was a computer glitch and thanked us for our patience. Our room was freezing. 65 degrees and the AC blasting. Only fitted sheets on the bed. I tried calling the front desk but the phone did not work so I walked back. I was told they were out of bedding. Sorry. I said, “we need sheets and a blanket!” She went to look in a storage area for a blanket. She returned with two thin blankets and handed me what appeared to be a set of sheets. I said, “Would you like me to make my beds?” Her response, “would you mind?” When I got back to the room, I realized the sheets were not sheets but a pile of pillowcases. My husband said the bathroom was disgusting and the room was filthy and we were leaving. They refused to give us a refund. We have called three times and the “manager” refuses and denied that this even happened. I'm a million years, pay a little more and go somewhere else. I'd rather sleep in my car! The lobby was filthy, and signs were scotch taped all over the place. The hallway was dirty and the carpeting needed a big vacuuming job. It all smelled like stale smoke too. Sketchy parking lot too. Lots of randoms hanging out. No bueno. Seriously, there's a zillion places around this one. DO. NOT. BOOK.

Filthy, gross, dirty place. Floor had not been swept, glass in picture broken, stains on sheets, stains on lamp shade, absolutely disgusting under chair cushion with stains, residue, dirt, coins, etc. Has not been cleaned in a very long time. Poor customer service.

Walked into room and walked straight out again - reeked of smoke and beds looked really worn out. Took our keys back to desk and left to find another hotel. Area hotel was located in also didn't feel very safe.

Room had a musty odor, toilet tank took 3-4 minutes to refill after use, sheets were dirty or stained. Out of a lot of breakfast items. Left a day earlier than what we had paid for due to the issues at the hotel.

Great place for a layover if all you are looking for is a place to get some good sleep for next day's journey. Wasn't much of a breakfast but then again, didn't pay for one when I checked in. Room was clean & I got good night's rest, exactly what I was looking for

We stayed at this hotel with our baseball group for a tournament. The room heavily smelled like smoke, even though it was clearly stated it was a non-smoking hotel. The shower curtain had what looked like mold stains all over the bottom of the curtain. It was very gross. The air conditioning wouldn't hold a cool temp, and we had 109 heat indexes this past weekend. On top of this, they charged a group rate that was $40 more than what they typically charge for their rooms. I would hardly call that a deal or a discount for a large group of families coming to stay. Also, we ended up not eating breakfast, as there was only cereal and a wrapped muffin to select from. They were out of the waffle mix and didn't have any warm/hot choices as stated on the website. Additionally, none of the boys used the pool as it had a greenish hue and was extremely small and tiny. Clearly, this was disappointing on all levels.

Started off awkward, walked in waited at counter for five minutes until someone came to check me in. Finally got room key for room on second floor (stairs only, no elevator). As we are walking and hauling our stuff to the room I felt like we were going fall through the floorboards the floors were creaking and giving way the entire length of the hall. The air conditioner was dripping left approximately an 8 foot diameter puddle on the carpet surrounding it. People sitting in the parking lot in lawnchair‘s party till late morning hours. Around 4:30 AM a crowd of seven people were crying and walking around the parking lot disheveled. All of this could be heard through the paper thin walls and windows. We called down for towels the night before but didn't receive them. The breakfast in the morning was literally apples bananas bread for toast and a waffle maker. The pool was OK the sign on the door said only four people allowed in at the same time. The water pressure was great in the bathroom sink came out like a fire hose. All in all the employees I could find were nice but the place wasn't for us and we will not be returning.

Feels like a $69 motel you see on the side of the road in an old run down part of town. Not worth the price! Smoke detector didn't work, bathroom was dirty, poor lighting, housekeeping didn't seem to speak English so we didn't get what we needed.

It was okay. We rented a 2 Queen room it was super clean and tidy. Did not go to breakfast as it was just cold items: cereal, muffins, etc. The pool is okay if you have older kids. It's 3/4 ft deep and very small. There was a little kid running up and down the halls all night into early morning and you could hear everything.

Room was clean & comfy pool was closed Res and pd for a suite requested upper level. Got to room it wasnt a suite, when questioned was told theres no suites on upper level. Shouldve been told at checkin, however there was a room marked suite at top of stairs.

We booked this hotel because of its location and that it has a pool. The pool is closed. If it had said that anywhere on the website, we would have gone somewhere else. Probably why it's not on the website. We had a king room with a jetted tub, which was very nice. The hotel/rooms could use some basic maintenance but no major issues (the toilet was wobbly and the sink dripped). I slept like a baby! Breakfast is grab-and-go: bread for toast, muffins, a basket of fruit, oatmeal. No hot foods. No restaurant inside the hotel but Perkins is right next door.

The first room smelled so bad we couldn't even go in. There was a dirty wet washcloth on the bed. The second room was so smelly our eyes were watering and our tennis shoes stuck to the tile floor. We were afraid to take off our shoes and try to take a shower.

Very clean facilities, comfortable bed, nice shower. Staff were very helpful with my queries and gave good recommendations for the area.. The pool and gym were a nice addition for a budget hotel. Would highly recommend for a short stop over.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel on a trip with friends. Friendly staff and very clean facilities. Great price as well for the amount of facilities such as the pool. Breakfast was great too and filling .

This is a budget property in a good location for access to I-380 and Highway 30, with a variety of dining options nearby. Good rates and clean rooms, nice flat screen TVs, decent internet service. Room decor is a little dated, but sufficient, especially for the room rates. Staff has varied over the times I've stayed there, but are generally friendly and helpful.

No frills, but an okay room for a one night stay. Missed the refrigerator though. We went for a low cost room because we were traveling through and we got what we were looking for. We had an issue with some light bulbs burnt out in a lamp and the front desk said they would take care of it. Very friendly.

I'm not sure if it was a training issue or management doesn't periodically QA the cleanliness but my room was NOT clean. The carpets had crumbs and hair and the bathroom floor was dirty. The sleeve on the drain in the bathroom was broken and the towel bar in the bathroom was missing (wall mount was still there).

Outside of almost tripping on linens that were stacked on the stairway while on my way to check out I'm STILL waiting on a dispute from the $100 A ROOM incidental charge back that I til this day never received. Before calling my banks to dispute the charges I called for over a week only to run around in circles about when I'd receive my incidentals back. If you have other options available while visiting Cedar Rapids CHOSE THOSE.

Never once was told before we stayed that the pool was closed. That was one reason we picked this hotel to let the kids swim and have fun in the pool. Also there was really no breakfast. To go muffins and yogurt was about it.

The staff was very friendly (the only reason there is a star) but when we went to leave the morning after, there were roaches in our room. Absolutely disgusting and I am so grossed out that we slept there. I wish I would have realized immediately.

Stayed 1 night because my home was without water for a day due to a sewer line repair. The room was ok, but upon checkout, the owner told me "Next time, don't open the window." I was very confused because I hadn't opened it. He then alluded to me sneaking someone in because he saw me take my complimentary breakfast, which was 2 mini prepackaged muffins and 2 mini yogurts back to my room. He tried to say that he peeked in my room and saw the window open. I explained that I only opened the curtain for light. Very bizarre to accuse a 50 year old woman of sneaking someone in through a window because she ate the mini breakfast that was included with the room.

We stayed here one night. It was not very clean. The carpet seemed to have not been vacuumed and there was a pile of dirt in the bathroom behind the door. They advertised a hot breakfast, but that was not the case. They had a spacious breakfast room, but not much to eat: coffee, juice, apples, oranges, yogurt, bottled water, packaged muffins & Nature Valley bars. No cereal or anything hot. Very disappointing!

I Always try and stay here because the staff keeps the place in top top shape and it's quite, the rooms are remodeled and the place looks great . And housekeeping crew does an amazing job I can't think of anything I would change. Thanks sure stay you guys rock

We stayed as a family in three rooms. Requested they be together and ended up in different buildings. The toilets in two of the rooms did not flush. Two rooms had linoleum floors that were filthy. One of the rooms had bedbugs coming out of a pillow at night. The construction workers staying there parties in the parking lot until 3 am. Breakfast was apples, granola bars and Activia. One of the keys did not work and also one of rhe hair dryers was shot. Only stay here if you are looking for an adventure!

The location was easy to find. There were a lot of dining options close by. The heater in the room did not function well. The shower and toilet room was quite small. The hot water pressure on the sink was very weak. The internet worked fine. The remote for the TV was not user friendly. We will not stay at this location again.

This hotel offers a good value stay for the area with clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is simple, but adequate and staff is friendly. Bathroom seemed quite cramped and room simple, but size okay

My husband and I had to come back to his family home here in Iowa because of a medical emergency. I saw this hotel online and read the reviews and saw the pictures then decided to stay here for the first time. Everything here was so comfortable and cozy! Everyone was so nice and caring. We opted to get a larger room with a hide a bed couch in case our other family came from out of town and needed to stay. We had a wonderful room at the end of the hall that had a quilt top mattress and plump pillows. The room was serviced every day and the breakfast was great and included too! They make a great cup of coffee at this place as well. There are many restaurants and gas stations nearby and a great location close to a major highway. We definitely will be staying here again!

Room was clean and comfortable. Very cozy. The room was large and roomy and convenient to shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again. Planning on visiting my daughter again and will stay there again.

Bathroom floor was sticky all over so I cleaned it with a towel. The towel came out dirty with hair on it so it had not be adequately cleaned. Nothing on the breakfast offering was any good. They had cheap off brands of everything I saw. Nothing tasted good. I have stayed in the same brand in other cities and was quite happy. I wanted to like this one too, but... This is a rebranding, so I could make allowances for it being new to them. That is not the problem. The problem is they are being too cheap with their purchases and not expecting enough from housekeeping and maintenance. The wall shook when the people next door went out of their door and their door slammed shut. Handrail on stairs not very secure, be careful.

This is the third time I've stayed at this property since it became a Best Western SureStay affiliate. I believe that it previously had no hotel group affiliation. The property is well-built and every time I've stayed at it, I've been pleased with my room assignments. Beds are comfortable and breakfast features both hot and cold items. Good value and good service every time I've stayed here!

This place met all our needs; our family of seven was on a road trip and needed a place to stay, called them around 9:30pm, they were super accommodating. Good price, breakfast in the morning was full with sausage, eggs muffins, cereal, fresh fruit and juice. The receptionist Kristin was really helpful and nice. The room was clean and very presentable

This was a very disappointing experience. We booked through an online site. This was the week of our wedding and we thought our children would enjoy the pool after the wedding. When we checked in they said their pool was under maintenance. We asked why didn't they mention this on their website or the online site. I checked their website before a day or 2 before as I was showing family. We were told "I don't know". We mentioned this was the main reason we chose them. We asked if they knew if there was another place in town. They said probably not as there was something going on in town. They said maybe maybe down the road (which was about a 45 minute drive away). Since they withheld information I asked for a discount or something. They said they would talk to the manager. The manager wouldn't talk to us. A fellow employee said the manager said they couldn't do anything. The reason was because we booked online. Another reason for the poor rating was because of the poor craftsmanship of their remodeling. Our room was supposed to be freshly remodeled. Once we walked into the room there were several holes in the walls. Plus, the floor tile border had pieces coming off. I brought this immediately to their attention. They didn't seem to care and just said ok.

It is a nice short run to Iowa City for Hawkeye games. Go Hawks! It is easy to find and they are very willing to go the extra mile to accomodate. Pleasent and friendly and always helping others. Thank You

“I am contacting you out of the frustration I encountered this week regarding a stay I had a week ago at a BW Sure Stay Property in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This was my first experience with the low end of your brand, and quite frankly my experience was so horrendous I don't know why you would develop this brand or allow a place like this one to operate under your company. My experience was bad from the very start... I had reserved my room and requested an early check in. I arrive just before 1 PM to a mostly empty hotel parking lot and understand early check in is only a request. When I approached the front desk person “Bobby”, I requested to check in. She proceeded to lecture and “educate” me on the early and the unreasonable nature of my request. I affirmed that and handed her my ID and credit card. She didn't ask me if I had a reservation, and it was strange the agent assumed I didn't have a hotel reservation and had just walked in off the street wanting to rent one. Bobby started to type my name and address from my ID into her workstation and as I observed her actions reminded her I had a reservation and reacted surprised. That should have been my early warning sign or future bad things. After trying to browbeat me regarding my early check in, Bobby replied that my room was ready for check in. I had my $20 Best Western gift card at check in and she had no idea how to accept it. I also handed her a credit card which was different than the one on my bestwestern.com profile. I asked her to apply the room charges to this one. Unfortunately, the other card was attempted charged and resulted in a fraud alert by my financial institution later. Wandering the parking lot when I arrived at the hotel was an obese man in his 30's wandering aimlessly and talking on or listening to a mobile device. I didn't pay much mind to him at the time, other than it was strange looking for someone wandering by foot in a mostly empty parking lot. Later that night and into the early morning hours, that same person would be listening to extremely loud music just outside my room door of the hotel in the hall between 5-6 AM. I found him a few hours later smoking cigarettes just outside the hotel side door which was propped open by a small rock. It was unsettling to see a person loitering in and around the hotel to this degree, I questioned whether he had a room at the hotel. The room was barely tolerable. It resembled a room in the process of being updated, but the contractors stopped working before the end of the project completion. I had to visit the front desk to ask for a non existent DO NOT DISTURB sign. At that same time to the desk, I requested a 1 hour late check out which was granted until 12:00 noon. Starting at 11:15 AM on check out day, I received a telephone call from the front desk asking me if I was extending my hotel stay due to my inability to check out. I informed the person I was granted a late check out. 25 minutes later, that same person again called me to ask about extending my stay. Sadly I had to again remind her I had been granted a late check out until 12:00 noon. I have never been called about my late check out twice before at a hotel, anywhere, even by two separate people at the many hundreds of hotels I have stayed. At check out, it quickly became apparent my $20 gift card was not credited. I retrieved my iphone again to transact the number on the BW digital card. The GM, was working at the desk when I departed. She also didn't know how to credit the gift card, and she was working with another male, who promised me I would not be charged the full room rate without the discounted $20. I asked when I might expect the corrected amount charged to be finalized and she replied in 2 days. During the following two days, I continued to see the hold charge amount of $64.51 (it should have been $20.00 less), on the second day after check out, the GM called me and notified me she had decided to comp my room and give me “lots of BW points” due to all the inconvenience I went through about the charges and my stay. I asked when I might see the hold amount of $64.51 removed and the room charges comped as she informed and her reply was it had already been submitted to my financial institution. I also never received a copy of my check out folio either in person or digitally until the events escalated four days after check out when BW customer service got involved. On the third day after checking out, I saw the $64.51 charge actually submitted for payment by the hotel and was no longer on hold status. This was completely contrary to what the GM said the day before and I called her and left a voice message. On the fourth day, there was again no refund but a hotel charge for $64.51. I did not receive a return call from the GM, so I called her again and this time she actually answered the phone. I told her what I had seen with the charge over the past four days. She denied this and replied the charge was refunded to me on the exact same day the hold went to a charge by the hotel with my account. I offered REAL TIME supporting documentation from my bank, which I sent to her in an email. She on the other hand, offered no supporting documentation to prove her claim, only to attempt to intimidate me on the phone by telling me how many years of experience she had doing this sort of thing. After I asked for documentation to support her claim, she hung up on me. I next called Best Western customer support and filed a claim and three hours later I received a message from BW CS to call back. I called and after spending about 6 minutes on hold for the associate to read the file, I was placed on another hold for about 9 minutes waiting while I was being transferred to a supervisor. I hung up out of frustration since the associate did not tell me I was going to have to wait nearly 10 minutes on hold for a transfer. Two hours later, I tried this again. There was no resolution to my situation and the associate offered to transfer my call back to the GM of the hotel for clarification (as if I needed any)! After asking to be transferred to a supervisor, I ended up hanging up again after about 8 or 9 minutes waiting. No person from your company ever called or attempted to contact me that same day or since then.

I recently stayed at this hotel because of the great price. My daughter is attending school in the area,The hotel was only minutes away from campus. the front desk was very helpful, polite, the cheerful attitude was very comfortingIt was a very relaxing stay I get sleepy easy, but no worries because there was coffee available in the lobby 24hrs. I even got to go swimming with my daughter. We were both able to do our laundry, which really made things easier for us. The beds were beyond comfortable, the rooms were fairly quiet, IT WAS AMAZING. I WILL FOR SURE BE BACK!.I love this little place. DUDE THEY EVEN HAD FREE cookies. YUMMM

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, and the experience was amazing, the staff was always helpful and pleasant, went out of their way to help in anyway, the breakfast was great!! And delicious, I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!!

Last night's stay at a different hotel in this same class and price zone had me fearing that another bad choice (smoky room, unclean, etc.) was in the cards for me. Not so! This was an excellent hotel that restored my faith in quality stays for relative bargains. It has the advantage of having been recently renovated, so there was not only no deep grime anywhere, but the carpet and walls and all seem like they are normally well cared for. Bed is very comfortable and sheets are good quality. Caveat is that the place may be SO recently renovated that it may be a bit of an illusion for far future travelers reading this: the plastic film protecting the digital clock face is still in place! Meanwhile however, I highly recommend SureStay. Quiet rooms, clean, friendly staff.

We stay often for business. Our work is often tiring. The rooms are large and neat. Scrupulously clean. The price is not too high. But we don't use much beyond the room itself and the internet. The beds are comfortable and spacious. The breakfast is a nice touch

Super friendly and helpful staff, the checkin process was easy and stress free!! clean rooms with great updates! Beds were very comfortable and I slept like a baby! I will definitely be staying again next time I'm in Cedar Rapids!!!!

We stayed here two nights to watch the Cedar Rapids Kernels play baseball. This used to be the Hometown Inn, but has switched to Best Western. They have made good improvements. Beds and pillows are new and super comfortable. I complained that the toilet did not seem to be properly bolted down and was a bit tippy..not good! The in room coffee maker was broken and it was disappointing that the pool was closed “for maintainence”. The breakfast scrambled eggs and sausages were cold. But all in all for the price not a bad place to stay.

Chose this place because of the price and would definitely stay again. We reserved a room with a king bed and ended up with a suite. Very clean. Beds super comfotable. My ONLY complaints are that the toilets are too low and beds too high.

Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. Beds and bathrooms clean. Pool small but clean, great for the grandkids. Appears newly renovated. Only suggestion is to switch out the carpet in the rooms to vinyl plank. Easier to keep clean. Perkins next door is a plus also. Will stay again if we go that way.
