Garden City Hotel, BW Signature Collection

We visit Canberra a few times a year and have stayed in quite a few motels. Garden City is the best mid range by far and we will be returning. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with good beds and large thick towels. The fact that we each had a comfortable chair to sit in was a winner for us. The location is convenient for car travel and at the end of the day you can dine in Monday to Thursday or walk to the German Club next door any day. Highly recommended, Best Western offers good value for money.

I stayed at the Garden City Hotel for one night recently while visiting friends in the area. This is the third hotel I have tried in the Narrabundah area (the first being the Ibis Styles, the second the Abode) and this is my favourite of the 3. The price was amazing, which was the main driver of selecting this over the Abode (which is next door). Check in was fast, friendly and efficient. There was no credit card surcharge for payment, which is a great benefit given that most other hotels will add a surcharge. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was available however we didn't have it at the hotel. There is a bar, but it is only open from Monday to Thursdays. The room was air conditioned, which worked well, and the water pressure and temperature in the shower was great. There is ample parking outside the hotel, and a swimming pool in the central courtyard. The staff were friendly. I rated the hotel as 4 stars because while I had a good experience it is quite dated, and provides a basic hotel experience only. It is good for an overnight stay and I would happily stay here again, but it is definitely not spectacular, and apart from the nearby German club, requires a car to get to anything. I recommend it for a short stay at an affordable price.

Great place to stay. Had a room overlooking the pool. We did not use the pool this time but definitely will use the next stay. Nice size room, comfy bed, lounge, small fridge and had reverse cycle air conditioner. Bathroom was a little small but ok and great water pressure. All the staff were polite and friendly. Plenty of car space to park. About 100 metres from the German Club. Very quiet area but probably would need a car to get around. Not far from DFO. Very good value for money

Comfy bed, clean facilities, lovely pool for a dip. Good driving distance to the city/War Memorial- not too long at all. Yummy breakfast on Monday morning. Definitely will stay again. I'm a solo traveller & felt safe. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Great dining at the German club across the road, they do Mexican food as well.

-Insecure parking with recent thefts from cars means you have to take EVERYTHING into the hotel and pray your car isn't trashed. No dinner Fridays! We were so tired after 24 hours of travel all we wanted was a room service dinner. Forget it. Room very clean but so dated and minimally and uncomfortably furnished. Terrible aircon which randomly blew veery hot or very cold. Staff did not seem to much care. Take your money elsewhere.

We spent three nights at the Garden City Hotel. It was comfortable and clean. It was inexpensive and had all needed facilities (pool, etc) but did look a little tired in spots. Also, it was not as close to the centre of the city as we thought. However overall it was value for money.

Travelling through Canberra, easy on/off access to Monaro Highway. Take advantage of happy hour drink pricing. Being able to open a window is a great advantage for a better nights sleep. Easy access to free car parking

We come to Garden City Hotel Best Western Signature Collection often as it is nice and central for our needs. The staff are friendly, the rooms are tidy and we look forward to our next visit for sure!

From the first moment you walk into the room, the musty smell hits you like a brick! The room we had was very small, but that didn't bother us at all. It was the stagnant, stale air and the unmistakable smell of a very old hotel room, which once-upon-a-time was inhabited by smoking guests. I tried without success to open a window - I was desperate for some fresh air! On night two of our stay, after returning from a full day out exploring Canberra, I was astonished to see that housekeeping had replaced our towels, but not bothered to make the bed, empty the rubbish bin or vacuum the floor! This property is described as 4-star on the Best Western website, I have no idea how they are able to claim this rating! The breakfast selection can only be described as bare minimum, but the most disturbing thing about the breakfast “buffet” was how messy the entire area was! We found crumbs and pieces of rubbish scattered on each of the tables holding the food. Needless to say, we took a hard pass on the breakfast! The only positive I have to offer about our experience at this hotel is that the water pressure in the shower was very good.

Dark and quiet, perfect for a few nights sleep after some long days driving. Linens and towels clean and fresh. Air conditioner worked well and requested single bed was comfortable and ready on arrival. Strong water pressure, courteous and professional front desk on arrival.

Everything a good hotel should be….spotlessly clean everywhere, big comfortable rooms, full cable TV channels, laundry, gym, pool, ground floor rooms, lots of natural light, restaurant, and above all excellent staff.

Booked the hotel then our Canberra friends said they wanted to go to the German Club for dinner - which is next door! Room was nice except the bathroom was a very tight fit. Disappointed that the pool was closed for maintenance.

bathrooms are the same as when they were first built old tiles & cabinetry, bed bases damaged, restaurant was not open and the reception staff were also looking after the bar / lounge area. The reception staff were excellent.

I'd like to make a special mention about the manager in the restaurant. We were there with our Probus group recently. I have a few dietary issues and the manager of the restaurant, Belinda, went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed. Her care was much appreciated!

I stayed here because of Best Western points, so it was free. Or meant to be, they still charged $4 per night .I'd be extremely upset if I'd paid full price for the stay. I noted one adult & one child, added in the notes my baby would share a bed with me. I was put upstairs & in the furthest room from the elevator. Made life very hard for me. The key wasn't working when I got home the second night so I waited an excessively long time in a cold hallway with my tired baby, no apologies for the trouble caused either. I found the food disappointing, overpriced & a $6 delivery fee is outrageous. I stayed in another Best Western on my way to Canberra that was substantially nicer, I WORK at a different BW hotel & we do things very differently. The bathroom was very dated, the furnishings themselves were fine. Wifi didn't work, but I was in the last room in the corridor so maybe the distance affected that. I won't stay again, even if it's free

Our room was brilliant. Cosy beds, very friendly and helpful front desk staff, rooms very quiet, nice and warm on the cold nights. Perfectly located around 15 minutes drive from Parliament House, 10 minutes from the Manuka shopping area where theres plenty of cafes, restaurants and Coles Supermarket. Thoroughly recommend this motel to anyone

This is a great hotel, very convenient to Canberra attractions and restaurants. I have stayed here numerous times. Comfortable rooms. Last time I stayed here we stayed for two nights. On the second morning the cleaner cleaned our room. She made the bed but top sheet was not put on correctly and was half way down the bed not tucked into the bottom. I had to remake the bed myself. Dirty cups were just placed back into the cupboard, not washed. The young male on the front count was extremely hard to under stand as English is not his first language. He talks extremely fast and not much of it is in clear English. I rang up to book room again yesterday and got same male. I understood about 2% of what he said and had to repeat myself 4 times for the dates I wanted to book. He is probably a very nice person but maybe answering phones and taking bookings is not the job for him if cannot understand or speak English in a English speaking city. He was very frustrating to deal with.

The staff were wonderful, especially Sulab who was very attentive and welcoming. I decided last minute to stay at the Garden City hotel and was very glad with my decision. I had a hot breakfast which was absolutely delicious and found the breakfast restaurant to be very cosy and the staff also very helpful. I will gladly stay again with my next visit to Canberra.

This hotel close to the German Restaurant and very clean and quiet place to stay. We just stay there for a short holiday. I recommend this hotel because it not far from the town, but the gym equipment a bit old and not good.

Motel was quiet, well presented for a basic motel. Room was very clean. The front desk staff were helpful and welcoming.Wifi was fast. Bed was comfortable. Whilst it seems out of the way, the Narrabundah shops were less than 15min walk away through leafy suburbs.

My husband booked a stay at the Garden City Hotel, BW Signature Collection for a family weekend trip, the hotel's photos online looked so amazing and the price was so affordable. When we arrived at the hotel we were a bit shocked because the photos online did not match what we could see. The hotel looked more like a motel and reminded us of an old hospital rather than a hotel. The hotel looked very dated. When we arrived to our room, we were very disappointed, the room looked dated, musty, old and looked like a room you'd find in a old run down motel. The room looked nothing like the photos online. The hallway had a really creepy vibe.The ensemble bed base was very worn, the material peeling. The bathroom had mould. There was no safety information on the back of the door, the room had a musty smell, overall the room was not pleasant. We did not feel like spending any time in the room and checked out as soon as we could the next morning. The staff member at check in was also not pleasant or friendly and lacked the good customer service that you would expect from a hotel. The positives was that the shower had good water pressure and there was ample of free parking.

The room was comfortable enough without being special. Unfortunately we were unable to eat in the restaurant for dinner as it is closed from Friday morning until Monday morning, That being the case we didn't bother trying for breakfast either. Parking can be tight at times. However it is south of the city and easy to get from there to Woden, Tuggeranong, and the attractions such as the Art Galleries and War Memorial as well as a quick exit to Queanbeyan or the snowfields.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay and were impressed with our room, plus the cleanliness. A special thank you to the lovely young Macedonian lady that served us breakfast. She was delightfully refreshing and informative. I hope you will recognise her and pass on our appreciation.

Stayed for a night while visiting family. Was just what we needed at a great price. Bed was very comfortable and soft, facilities all worked well and were clean. Staff were all friendly, breakfast was tasty but there could have been more supply of food, we got there about mid-way through and was told a lot of the food options were already gone which was a shame. But otherwise everything was good and would come again when we are back to see family again.

Nothing can beat this little gem for a clean and economical place to stay in Canberra. We keep coming back, and although the decor is simple and dated the staff are proficient and friendly. They do a simple cooked breakfast which is included in the price, there's ample parking and it's right next to the German club with their German beers and massive pork knuckles. Great place to stay and close to Canberra Hospital.

It was our first time travelling since Covid, and we were pleasantly surprised by just how clean and hygienic the room felt. We immediately felt at ease and reassured. Would recommend the hotel on all accounts - from a friendly, fast check in to a super comfy bed and great night's sleep. And the bonus was fantastic water pressure in the shower :)

Hotel and room are pretty good but breakfast was a disaster. Two poor staff worked off their feet and a 40 minute wait for eggs and pancakes. New pillows and mattress would be good as current ones are far too soft and provide no support. However room is clean. No sign of any recycling bins though.

We stay in Queenbeyan several times a year on our way to the snowfields as it allows us to miss the late night Kangaroos, walabies and wombats. So we get in at about 9:00 pm and are gone by 6:30 - 7:00 am. we used to stay at another hotel close to the Monaro Hwy where we were less than impressed. The first time we stayed here the staff were helpful they call when it starts to get late and turn the heating on prior to arival so you are welcomed by a toasty room. We cant parise them enough, the rooms are áffordable'but the service isn't! We keep coming back. PS. the beds and pillows are comfy as!

Excellent accommodation, great rooms, the dinners were absolutely amazing, and the bar staff friendly and helpful. Great central location. WiFi was great, reliable and fast internet speed. I will definitely be back.

Clean room, value for money, bar was not open till 5.30pm but happy hour was great $4 drinks :), free parking, next door to the The Harmonie German Club. breakfast & diner is available at the hotel. Friendly staff.

This stay was better than I had anticipated. It was a very cold Canberra day and I was pleased with the heating and the comfort of this hotel. The room felt cosy and warm. The food delivered to my room was good too. Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

We booked a delux queen room with two beds as I was to have a leg op at a nearby hospital. On the day of the op workmen we're working near our room making a lot of noise so my husband asked to be moved. We were upgraded to a two room unit with a sofa bed which was even better for me as he could watch tv and make coffee without disturbing me. We had a very good room-service meal and the continental breakfast was adequate. The staff were welcoming and accommodating to my needs. Some of the furniture needs attention, vinyl on the chairs and bed-heads is peeling and my husband fixed a wobbly table, but the beds were comfortable and the showers hot.

Booked a couple of nights here while in Canberra on business. Motel (it's not a hotel) photos are misleading. Rooms are small and OLD with a bunch of broken stuff in the room. There was some super loud buzzing noise in the room that when I asked at the desk about was told “would be fixed”. Never happened so sleep was difficult. Paper thin walls. The pool was FILTHY! It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Basically I don't like that this motel is misrepresenting itself. If I wanted Ibis quality I'd have booked the one around the corner. Avoid

We cruise down to Canberra every few months to listen to some blues at the German Club, which is only next door, so we are regulars here and never had a problem. Best place around to eat, comfy beds, nice pool. On the way home on Sundays it's convenient to drop into the Bus Depot Markets.

Mattress sagging, paint peeling on bathroom ceiling, bathroom mirrors marked, chairs scuffed - need replacing. Staff okay. Renovations overdue. Best thing was happy hour 5.30 to 6.30pm - $4 a drink. Location fine. Walk from parking.

My Mum and I enjoyed our 2 night stay last week travelling with our coach Company It's Easy Tours, to see Floriade & other places around Canberra. Great hotel, comfortable beds, clean room's. Tasty dinners and a very good breakfast. Thanks for looking after me with my Gluten Free diet. Good service, friendly and helpful staff. Thank you very much.

This hotel is most professional in the way in which it was managed and presented. The reception staff and its manager were very pleasant, well presented and accommodating. They even allowed me to play their grand piano! The facilities were all very nicely presented. Staff were quick to acknowledge guests and had clearly been trained appropriately. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

The bed was comfortable and we were warm and slept well. Most fixtures were dated and our sofa was very worn, but everything looked well cleaned. We tried the continental breakfast which was reasonable at $14. Enough food for us to make paying extra for hot breakfast unnecessary. Hotel is a bit isolated from shops and cafes apart from the German club next door but is only 5-10 mins drive from Manuka or Kingston. Location is quite manageable as long as you have your own transport. Easy parking. Pleasant staff.

Reasonably priced clean hotel with hardly a short drive to city center. Is about 45 min from corin forest. Was good for a night stay with family. It had parking on site. Bathroom was a bit smaller than I expected but was clean. However the reception closes at 11 pm and if you have any issue post that its a bit difficult to reach out to anybody.

Hotel is located in the quiet residential area, although there is a German Club nearby. Access to the city is very easy & only 10-15 minutes away. Haven't had breakfast or dinner so unable to comment on food quality. WIFI, TV ,safe & all small necessities (ie: toiletries of good quality, plenty of dishes if you wish to eat in the room ).Good quality towels & bed linen. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

On the first night, when I pulled back the sheets on the bed (which had been properly made), I discovered the sheets hadn't been changed! There were little hairs, little black dust balls (from someone's socks perhaps) and little yellow unknown things (bits of skin perhaps). Someone else had definitely been in my bed! I rang reception for new sheets and showed the lady the dirty sheets. She apologised and said she'd inform a manager and organise free breakfast or something, but 2 days later when checking out, the manager had not been informed, and I had no evidence. Thankfully, he waived the cost of 2 breakfasts. In retrospect, I should've asked for more compensation. The air conditioner in our room was vibrating so loudly, my wife had trouble sleeping, but it would've been too cold without it. Most of the crockery at breakfast was dirty. The hot breakfast was actually cold. Also, no fault of the hotel, but the purported "German" club/restaurant nearby was booked out and the crowd was rough.

We stayed here late June.This is a older hotel but was clean and well renovated.But most hotels are old in Canberra . The best thing were the beds and the German club next door, German beer on tap and fabulous food. The bathroom was small and showed the age of the hotel. There's only instant coffee in the room.I didn't have a decent coffee in Canberra, I come to the conclusion it was the water . We look at the breakfast but when they told us it's a extra $10 for anything hot we give it a miss.got a cappuccino but couldn't finish it , wifi was good. Conclusion For the price it's a reasonable place to stay but nothing to tell your friends about.

Hotel looks a little dated but the rooms had everything needed for a 1 night stay. Hotel itself was really clean. Good breakfast too we had a selection from the menu rather then the usual buffet, but think this was due to the hotel being fairly quiet. Parking was easy

Hotel is located on the periphery of inner city with excellent access to the airport and all points around. The hotel is ageing but retains a modern vibe, The rooms are clean and modern with NO odours(!), are quiet with a small settee, table and two chairs. The bathroom is small with inexplicably poor lighting. Parking can be scarce if bookings are up. Overall a satisfying place to stay at a reasonable cost for Canberra.

Based on reviews, when I booked this hotel, I thought it would be an excellent value. There were just too many problems for me to recommend the hotel. When we checked in, our room reeked of a mothball smell. We opened the windows, but the noise from the road was deafening. We were going out to dinner, so we left the window open to air out the room. Upon our return, we closed the windows (even though the room still smelled), turned on the air conditioning/cooling and went to bed. The incredibly noisy AC kept me awake until 2 am, when I finally turned it off. The bathroom fan was also unbelievably noisy, which wasn't a big problem--just annoying. Finally, the shower temperature changed constantly throughout my all too brief shower. After a terrible night of not enough sleep, we went to check out and were told breakfast was over and we were on our own. Some "values" simply aren't worth the price. To be fair, the location is good, and the décor was fresh and updated.

Originally had a much 'fancier' hotel booked but decided to cancel and booked here instead - saving over $800 in the process! And we weren't disappointed with our decision. We were out and about so much and really only needed somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep. You will need a car to stay here though for convenience sake (it's a quick drive into the city centre). Plenty of parking including under cover - turn right in the main driveway and you'll find it otherwise plenty of open parking to the left. Room service is a handy addition plus the pool area for kids. Tried the buffet breakfast but honestly there are so many fabulous cafes in Canberra so we preferred that option but definitely ok if you don't feel like venturing out. All in all a great clean and well priced place to stay.

Don't look for the yellow Best Western sigh. The place is a little spartan, a motel of you like with facilities to go with an up market motel image. There are three suites, apparently, we had one, Shortage of towels, and distinct shortage of furniture in the living room area of the suite, This was not replaced even though management were informed we would be having guests. There was a fridge and a kettle and we were comfortable enough. I didn't think the place was a bargain and wouldn't go back but it served its purpose.

When driving here I was worried about where we were going. But I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are clean and the bed was great, staff were friendly. Joust 5 min down the road is a shopping centre, and lots of little cafes to sit and have a coffee. Nowhere is very far in Canberra, airport only 10 min away.

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay overnight in Canberra. Easy to get to and from the city and easy to get out of when leaving. Beds were comfortable, shower had excellent hot water. A place I'll definitely come back to.

I was recommended this hotel by a good friend, it was booked in less then 1 minute. Very comfortable bed, very easy check in and check out. Quiet location, away from the hustle and bustle. Would gladly stay again.

This accommodation was excellent in position to the main Canberra area. The restaurant food was excellent. The staff were very accommodating and I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to the Canberra area. Uber taxi like service in the area was very prompt.

Over the years my husband and I have stayed at this hotel many times. We have always found it to be clean and quiet. It is also in a good location for us as it is close to Woden and Tuggeranong which is where we usually need to be. Also the location is quiet - no traffic noise. Staff have always been very friendly and helpful.

We booked Garden City on family recommendation. Great location 10 minutes to city, woden etc. Rooms very clean and comfy, breakfast was vety fresh and plenty to select from. Lots of parking. Tariffs very reasonable

We wanted to stay somewhere that was clean and tidy and that's what we got. Quiet rooms and not much corridor noise made for a lovely sleep. The pool was ok, my 2 year old loved it. Would stay here again.

Hotel is outside of Canberra CBD and pretty decent quality, but would advise paying the extra amount for a centrally located hotel for those that don't have a car or are there as tourists wanting to dine out and go to the sites. Would recommend for business trips and such! Cleaning staff were very helpful and friendly. They for sure need some improvement to the rooms - preferably faster WIFI, Smart TV's (Netflix is cheaper than Foxtel), to let clients that 'Free Foxtel' only means like two movie channels and the rest are sports or free to air. The restaurants they recommend in there book guide in the room needs updating as half of them are closed. Had a little trouble checking in later at night, that was partially on me - I did however call three seperate times - the first time to make sure I could check in later a night(I did this a couple of days beforehand and was told 'to ring and ask someone for help to get inside'), the second to let them know I was going to be later then I thought - I was then advised that there was no payment made for the booking!? (this was completely false as I made the full payment like three weeks before to my Travel Agent) so when they asked for me card details... I got a little uptight and the cherry on top was that I actually had made the full payment but I had to wait 30 minutes on the phone with an offsite employee that wouldn't let me in the building until I paid the fee they wanted me to pay - I payed to get into my room and found out the next morning that this was for a security fee which was never actually mentioned once!

Typical motel. Friendly staff, a little bit run down and old school feel. Bed was comfy however the room I stayed had I could hear the wind (sounded like it was going to come through). Bathroom was very small and could use an update. Overall it was ok. Wifi very slow, had to tether off my phone instead.

We had four nights here and were very happy with everything. We were upgraded to a Superior room, with bathrobes. The room was always cleaned really well and clean linen, towels and shampoo, etc, all replaced without fuss. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast every day as there are no cafes nearby to go and have breakfast. Staff were all friendly and helpful with directions, etc. We also enjoyed being able to walk to the German Club next door where you could have a nice cold beer and a good meal at reasonable cost. All in all a good experience.

Good value hotel outside of the Canberra CBD, we had stayed here before and were told the rooms were being upgraded. The bathroom had been upgraded, but the room had only been painted and new carpet installed. The net curtain in the room was torn and the bedhead plastic was peeling, although it looked relatively new. The hotel swimming pool was dirty

I was drawn to this motel by the competitive prices and apparently good surroundings as shown on their web page, and was not disappointed. The rooms are well appointed and quiet. The usual corridor noise that I have come to expect in multi level motels was absent, My room was clean, large and had a view out over the outdoor pool, which I found most relaxing. The staff were most friendly and helpful, and I will be staying there again when I next visit Canberra.

Third time here and still happy. Quiet location but handy to most places. Great breakfast, comfy and clean room, everything you need and a bar. We were on second floor but there is a lift for us oldies. Excellent reception staff.

Stayed a night at Best Western Garden City Canberra. I like this location as it is convenient for my needs. The room was excellent and the amenities and furnishings were above average. All in all a comfortable night. The parking on site was limited but this is a problem with most Canberra hotels. I will be back.

This good value hotel is located a short drive from both the airport and the city of Woden. It is also very close to the Canberra Golf Course. It offers comfortable rooms with air con and a small but serviceable bathroom. There is ample parking but it is not under cover so be prepared for some defrosting on cold mornings. Breakfast was usually a separate charge and was a modest affair with a small hot selection and the usual toast cereal and fruit. For a price much lower than an inner city hotel this offers a decent alternative if you don't need to be near the city centre.

I stay at this hotel regularly and was very disappointed at the customer service on my last two visits. My work colleagues car was broken into on my previous stay. Glass everywhere and no offer of assistance from any staff to remove all of the glass. Then on my last visit I contacted reception to change my pillows after night 1. They were so thin and hard and really needed to go in the bin. Arrived back late from work to find they hadn't been changed. Called again and arrived back to one medium pillow and the three thin pillows. On check out I mentioned the problem to the manager and he was somewhat argumentative and told me they had changed my pillow when requested I explained again that it was a day late. I ordered the beef salad one night and was appalled deep fried Hokien noodles with big chunks of steak in a sugary sauce with lettuce seriously.... I was booked back this week and asked work to move me to another hotel, not ever putting up with that treatment again...

We had a group booking for a function in the club next door. This hotel is very easy to get to off the motorway and very convenient to get to the German Club, the golf course and the Canberra Outlet Centre. Rooms are clean and tidy. The large breakfast has a great range to suit most people.

This motel was wonderfully priced and the accommodation was beautiful set out and extremely clean. The hotel was in such a peaceful area. The bed was very comfy and I had a great night sleep. Highly recommend. The staff were extremely polite.

The Best Western Garden City Hotel proved to be an excellent find for our 2 night stay in Canberra! The hotel is clean, the on-site restaurant provided excellent breakfast and dinner options. The pool area is beautiful and nicely landscaped. Front desk and restaurant/bar staff were helpful and pleasant.

Rooms are great, food supplied was good, a nice warm feeling all round, close to Canberra, easy to get to, plenty of parking, warm friendly staff, a great family weekend get away, bed are comfortable after a long day driving

Used as a stopover on the way to the snow. Location convenient to the highway. Hotel clean quiet and comfortable. Restaurant meal was lovely, staff attentive, and convenient for my purposes. Recommend couples family business

My car was robbed and smashed overnight. While this is an unfortunate event, the way it was dealt with was unacceptable. 1. Car vandalism had been 'endemic' for 3 weeks at this hotel - which was not shared at booking, or confirmation. 2. No advice to ensure luggage removed from car was given, nor warning, at checkin. 3. No, that right, NO, assistance was provided by the hotel. They did not contact me or acknowledge the event until I emailed 4 days later - and was told the police had recovered property and I might want to see if I could get some returned. Stay here at your own risk, and do expect complete indifference from the hotel. Complete lack of duty of care, and criminal negligience by the hotel in refusing to acknowledge or assist to mitigate risk.

Had some work out there so rather than stay in the city area chose the Best Western Narrabundah. Very courteous reception check in and ample free parking external around the building. As another reviewer suggested don't leave valuables in the car. I had no issues but coming back from my evening appointment car spaces were very tight. Room was comfortable and warm. Bathroom was modern but very tight space wise and if so desired you could sit on the toilet and have a shave at the same time! Rather than go out again into the Canberra chill opted to dine in and the food was good, not overpriced nor were the drinks. Service was very good. Slept comfortably given remote location plus room was away from the main road. Overall a nice place to stay.

Stopped here for the night on the way to the snow. Great position just off the highway, with clean and comfortable rooms, undercover parking and an onsite restaurant. We had dinner at the restaurant and found the food delicious and the service fast and friendly. Will definitely stay again in the future.

Rooms need an update but we were very comfortable (and warm - important in Canberra). The hotel was a little further from the city centre than I would have liked but that's my fault for not checking the location. It's quite easy to get around anyway so it wasn't too much of an issue. My only complaint was that with the thin walls the adjoining room was up showering at 5.30am which woke me up and it was too loud to get back to sleep while they were showering.

I hate giving poor reviews and realistically this hotel should be rated somewhere in 3.5+. But I am rating them at 2 stars as a direct kick up the backside of the owner / managers. I was greeted by a very freindly and professional staff member, the lobby looked cozy and warm with guests relaxing at the bar. There was ample free car parking. Walking to my room I was thinking:"...this is very nice hotel for the money, neat clean, wonder what the room will be like..." And them BOOM!....disappointment. Dim white lights emitted by cheap, low wattage spiral globed of the last decade. Who does this anymore seriously? Dim light is bad for a hotel. White light is for hospital and police stations; they are sad and depressing especially when you just walked in from a cool 4 degrees outside and are looking for a cozy corner to relax. White light also magnifies imperfections, stains, dirt etc. Thanks for your white lights, I can't keep my eyes off the huge water stain on the corner of the bedroom ceiling OR the stains on the curtains OR the carpets. And then it got worse....I walked into the bathroom! One miserable dim white light over the sink! There is not enough light there to brush your teeth, forget shaving. Also half the lights in your Gym are not working Dear manager Please search up articles on the internet about how poor lightning can effect your guest experience greatly and thus the review for your hotel.

I had booked an exec room that included a small love seat so we had decent space. The bathroom was small with limited places for toiletries around the sink and there was no ledge or shelf in the shower to set your shampoo (they did have a dispenser on the wall). The AC worked well and the bed was comfy enough. There is a patio courtyard with a pool that is a nice place to relax and it felt like an oasis. Garvan and Cosmo were exceptional. They had never processed a U.S. currency Best Western gift card before but that didn't stop them from figuring out how to do it. What a pleasant way to pay my bill. We did not have a rate that included breakfast so I can't speak to that.

This hotel has good access and plenty of free parking. The rooms are well appointed and the staff are friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant is good quality and the German Club is just next door if you want some pork and cabbage specialities

Fast check-in & check-out, very clean & sizable room, fresh towels, garden & swimming pool view and friendly staff. Room service for dinner was also great. Not a fancy location, but it doesn't matter if we have a car to drive around

Nice and clean place to stay. Very good facilities. Big and spacious rooms. All the necessary amenities. A good breakfast. And a calm vibe overall. Not too close to food options, but then again everything is somewhat close to everything in Canberra.

First night on the ground floor near the parking, noise from adjacent rooms, the corridor and from the neighbour above made an early sleep impossible. The plumbing is very noisy. Also cars leaving early meant sleeping in was impossible. We moved to a top floor room near the end of a corridor. Much quieter, but was then woken by an alarm at 5 am which went for over five minutes. We thought it could have been a fire alarm, but the front desk later said they were unaware of this.

We had stayed here a few times as a stop over. This stop is easy to get to but this time around we had a troubled night sleep which isnt the best after a 12 hour drive with another day of driving ahead..... We had people whistling yelling and geing generally annoying. We didnt use the resturant - we had pizza delivered. The pool was in good condition.

We stayed in a queen plus single room which was very comfortable. The bathroom is a bit tight and dated but there was a good supply of hot water. A lift is available if stairs are a problem. The staff were friendly too. Parking can get filled so be aware of this if driving. Breakfast (included continental) was good value. The hot food was tasty but could be warmer.

Staff are friendly and hotel is located south of the city the pricing fits. The hotel is not of a 4 1\\2 quality. The hotel is dated and needs upgrading. Bathrooms are old and tired. The rooms are cleaned daily but two days in a row aspill on the side table remained uncleaned. I would say the carpet also looks uncleaned. The airconditioning also was not cooling properly. The bedding was old with sagging in centre causing partners closness through the night. The breakfast was satisfactory but the coffee from the machine undrinkable.

We found the room to be very clean, up to date and fresh, the Samsung television was fantastic and the bed quite comfy, my only negative was that the bathroom was on the small size, mind you, I have seen smaller.The restaurant was clean and neat, the meals very well priced and a good size portion, the bar was adequate with a good selection of drinks and the staff were friendly, courteous and very obliging.

Average motel that is adequately priced - good if you are just planning to sleep. Rooms are quite outdated and needs a refresh (new paint, decor change, etc.). Did not try the restaurants on site as there are plenty of eateries in Canberra.

Good location to Canberra. Attached restaurant expensive as are most restaurants in Australia. The room was clean and of adequate size. Bathroom very cramped in our room. It also did not have a mini refrig. Parking adjacent to hotel and free. Room cost was $127 for a queen size bed.

This is a perfectly reasonable, functional and well-maintained hotel, with spacious and clean rooms and all the usual facilities, including a nice swimming pool. One serious criticism however – the flat-screen TV set in our room was rather old, and did not accept an HDMI input from my computer, so it was not possible to play pre-recorded movies as we do most days when traveling. When I asked the reception and the manager next day, they said that the HDMI input WAS INTENTIONALLY DISABLED on all their TV sets. If this is true, than this is a totally outrageous, unnecessary and pointless intrusion into the guest's ability to use the in-room facilities they paid for. An HDMI input into a TV set presents absolutely no danger or virus risk, and disabling it is just plain bloody minded nonsense. This one action by the management would be sufficient for me never to stay at another Best Western hotel again – if this is indeed their policy, rather than just the unreasonable action of a single franchisee? i would like to know!! Best Western franchise management, please take note!

Stayed here one night with my mate. Room was clean, tidy and perfect size. The bed was very comfortable and ticked all the boxes for us. There was a slight smell in the bathroom when we arrived but that left once the sinks and showers were used etc. We ordered room service and it was excellent. Definitely the highlight of our night. Staff were friendly and courteous at all stages. I would definitely stay here again.

Right from the booking (direct) we knew this was going to be good. Staff gave a much better deal than booking on line with one of the "Booking.com" type organizations, saved us heaps! Very pleasant staff which made you feel 'welcome'. Arrived at our room but had one with a view looking towards a blank wall, staff happily changed our room without question. Rooms are spotless and comfortable, although bathroom is a little 'squeezy' but OK. Free Wifi was consistently good. Beds comfortable. Minibar stocked, TV reception OK + Movie channels. The only "Con" and a big one for us was that being Australia Day the restaurant wasn't open which was a big hassle as we were tired and didn't want the extra travel elsewhere to eat. Hotel, please take note! Overheard many patrons complain about the same thing. Breakfast (continental) was included but for $10 extra you could have a cooked breakfast which was tasty but had to get in quick as the trays were too small and often had to wait for 'top ups'. Good selection of everything else. Happy hour was a bonus, selected beer, wine and spirits for $4 now there's a great deal! All in all you won't be disappointed, about a 5 minute drive from shops and restaurants but a small price to pay. Bonus...just happens to be across the road from the Harmonie German Club, great food (except public holidays too)!

I stayed here for three nights with 2 grandchildren and we visited many of the sights in Canberra. The location of the motel is excellent and it is not far to the centre of town or restaurants in Narrabundah and Manuka. The room was quite large and had all facilities. The Wi-Fi was perfect and the kids loved the pool and gymnasium. All the staff were very helpful. It was not exactly cheap but when you consider we had a free continental breakfast every day it becomes quite reasonable. I would definitely stay there again.

My son and I only stayed one night and were very happy with it. Nice pool to swim in which we both did. We slept in so missed breakfast unfortunately so can't comment on that. Room was nice and clean and comfortable.

We recently held a function here and were very happy. Nothing was a problem when it come to decorating the room and adding our own personal touches. The price was more than reasonable for the room hire and the staff were lovely making sure everything was perfect for us on the day. After our function had ended we dined in the restaurant and had enjoyed a lovely meal from the delicious menu.

Clean well-equipped room. Friendly and efficient reception staff. Bathroom small and shower only but very clean. We were visiting family in south Canberra, and the location is great for that, and quick access to Woden, as well as the airport.

We were upgraded to Exec room which was tidy with good size overall. Bathroom pokey. Restaurant was not operating at night over Xmas break. Good parking with easy access to hotel. Close to Manuka which has plenty of eat out options.

I was in room 241 this time, which provided a nice view of the pool below, and luckily, no one had mistaken the lacy curtains in this room for a scratching post this time around (heh heh). ;-) Also, this was my first opportunity to actually use the pool, as either I'd been too preoccupied with sightseeing, or it'd been too cold on previous visits. All in all, though, I still love this hotel. :-)

After visiting the war memorial I checked trip advisor and google to find a motel. We headed out of town to the best western as we have stayed in many best westerns and never had any issues. Upon arrival the receptionist wasn't very friendly. I asked about the zoo deal that was on the website only to be told that they no longer have any deals and they shouldn't be on the website. (The zoo deal was one of the reasons I choose this motel). When booking the room she told us the price for the night, I asked if I should have booked online before coming here as it was actually cheaper online through their website, her response was that they didn't have any of those rooms available and that we were getting a "deluxe" room. The bed was comfy and the linen lovely. The bathroom however was poorly designed light wise, it was so dark in the shower I had to get my torch to help see. Breakfast was okay, though wasn't impressed that we had to pay more for anything hot or a decent coffee. The German Club next door had great meals. Overall it was very pricey for a mediocre stay.

Arrival was expected as per booking, the bed was comfortable, room clean, staff friendly, evening meal great, breakfast plentiful, minor issue with small blood stain on doona fixed by replacing upon us noticing.

We stayed weekend at this hotel which located in silent area around 7 minutes drive from parliament. Hotel itself, room and bathroom are very clean. Staff is invisible but helpful when you need them. Room cleaned even during weekend. Restaurant is closed for Sunday dinner, but opened for breakfast . Breakfast simple but can cover any taste. In restaurant some tables are with view to swimming pool. Hotel has its own parking. Near hotel is German club, where is good restaurant and bar. Price for 2 nights was very attractive.

Had booked this motel as it stated it was 4.5 stars and was a good price. On arrival i was checked into a diffetent room from the one i had booked. On being rechecked into the queen deluxe room with separate lounge, i found an outdated room, yes the lounge was seperate... from the bed. The bathroom was extremely tiny, the towels supplied were thin and frayed. There were no privacy curtains, so we were either closed in or exposed to the car park. Overall just disappointed, have stayed in a variety of motels and this did not stand up to satisfaction and certainly not a 4.5 stars. Will not be staying there again.

Stayed for one night on a business trip, the room was apparently an 'executive' level, but felt like a standard room. Overall it was fine for what I required, quiet and the bed comfortable. However, the room was let down by a few small things, there was a desk for working at but no chair, needed to use the one at the small table. The tap in the bathroom was not correctly fixed and was loose, the automatic light in the corridior when activated lit up the room at all hours and finally and most annoying, there was no toilet roll, only a dispencer which provided small squares. These are small items to resolve but could significantly improve the stay. Overall the staff were polite and efficiant and it was fine for a one night stay, but would not want to stay for longer.

A god mid quality hotel with everything you need. Quiet rooms, comfortable bed, good pillows, a decent sized bathroom along with a dining room. The staff are very friendly and the check in / check out processes were smooth, quick and efficient.

The rooms are very clean. The location is a bit isolated there is a golf course across the road and the German Club next door. The restaurant food in the hotel is really good though really expensive and they also charge a $6 delivery fee for the dinner. I had the pork ribs (awesome) Dark ale pie with mash (to die for) Butter Chicken (disappointing). The service was good.

Not he newest renovated in this known chain. Elevator needs thorough clean up. In room toilette seating and position so small that you can feel like a prisoner in jail. On the other side location and breakfast perfect. Check in and out fine and quick.

Always well presented and clean. Beds are not to bad. Prices are relatively reasonable! They cater for large group with rooms available for conferences. It's close to the airport and only 20 mins to city.

Arrived in Canberra after hours, great communication about how to receive the key to our room from a safe box. Room was adequate clean and sheets and towels replaced daily. We had cooked breakfast on the first day and then continental breakfast for the balance of our stay. Reception staff are very helpful, informative and accommodating.

Our room was cozy and clean. The bathroom is a bit small though. But our highlight was the food in the restaurant. Amazing! Not only was it delicious but the portion was very generous as well. Parking is a bit confusing at first. We didn't know where the guests are supposed to park. We ended up parking in the side street. It turned out there are lots of parking spaces.

This is the 4th time we have used this hotel as it is in a good location for accessing Canberra. Breakfast was included and very convenient for this visit due to our itinerary. I have nothing further to add.

I took my mum and dad to Canberra to honour mum's uncle who paid the ultimate sacrifice in WW1 at Passchendaele, exactly 100 years ago on October 12, 1917. We stayed at this Hotel for 3 nights. The staff are very friendly and helpful, happy to chat. I was also given the honour of playing the piano any time I wanted to but mainly during Happy Hour. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, quiet and windows were able to be opened for fresh air, not just air conditioning. The restaurant meals were awesome, although I do feel for me and my parents the main meals were too large. Breakfast was included and was also very tasty, accommodating different tastes. The pool looked inviting but was a tad too cold. The hotel is close to all the main attractions in Canberra. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Canberra and would have no problem in recommending the Best Western Plus Garden City Hotel to others.

We only stayed one night and all was fine. When we checked into the room that we were assigned it hadn't been serviced and we were offered a free upgrade to a suite. Kosmo in reception was very apologetic for the problem, we would have been happy to have an alternate room, but the upgrade was nice. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed 1 night here and chose it because of its location which was somewhat close to where our friends live. We found the room comfortable and spacious. Room and bathroom were clean. Good quality toiletries provided. Enjoyed the adequate buffet breakfast provided in the quiet and peaceful dining area. Good customer service and friendly staff. Would stay again. We noticed that the German Club was just across the road from this place.

This was very much up to the standard we have experienced at other Best Westerns - modern, clean and very good service. Large comfortable rooms and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Its location in Narrabundah means you need to have a car or use the ACTION buses. But it is only 10 minutes' drive to all the major Canberra attractions and the city and not much more to the airport.

The Garden City Hotel is fairly central and we were able to get down town easily. The quality of the hotel is good with clean rooms and friendly staff. I did not get to try the fitness centre, but this is an added advantage if you like to stay fit. The bed was uncomfortable though. Reasonable price per night. It can get busy during school vacations as we discovered.

This motel was chosen because of its location south of Canberra on the way to the Coast. The location was quiet, the room spotless and the staff friendly. My only criticism was that because it was Sunday not only the restaurant was closed but room service was unavailable. I wonder if they thought the guests were all fasting. This is a very large complex and after a long, hard drive it would have been nice to relax rather than having to drive 3 km to Manuka to the cafes.

Stayed for 4 nights while having surgery in Canberra and were overall very pleased. Excellent location to get anywhere, very close to Woden for shopping, very close to Kingston for really nice restaurants. Manager is very helpful and friendly Rooms are clean and comfortable and make up service during the day is great if you are staying multiple nights. Our deal had buffet breakfast included which was a nice bonus, medium variety of hot food, lots of little extras like yoghurts, pastries, assortment of cereals and fruit. We would stay here again

Having never visited Canberra our selection of accommodation was always going to be a new experience. The Hotel is a few km from the city centre and airport but we found Canberra an easy city to drive around and most places of interest not too far away. It is a large facility off a main road but the traffic noise was minimal. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. The room was clean and beds comfortable with clean linen. We partook of the "Happy Hour" in the restaurant and enjoyed a lovely meal as well. The menu isn't extensive but the meals were delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was included and it also was delicious and well prepared.The staff were great.

I often stay at the Garden City in Canberra however on this occasion my office had booked the hotel through the Qantas website and not directly through Best Western. Upon arrival I was informed because of this I wouldn't be getting my Best Western points or rewards as I usually would. Clearly because of that I was given a much smaller room which included a tiny shower room with the inclusion of mould and peeling paint on the ceiling. Not what you'd expect from a hotel in Canberra that has a busy business clientele.

Stayed here Thursday night and while this hotel had everything require; restaurant, pool,under cover parking, bar and happy hour etc.; the rooms were a bit aged, torn curtains, old bathroom and a not so great bed. A bit of cash could make this place great, it has the demand

This motel is a bit out of the city centre but still only 4-5km from Parliament House. I'd stayed there before and was happy to return. It's a genuine 4-star establishment which is not all that common in motel-type properties. The website offers undercover parking - please let me know if you find it.

On the surface it looks ok but there are torn curtains in the window, the bed and pillow were terrible you can hear every little noise outside on the street, worst nights sleep in years! I've had better at motor inns in Wagga! Nice staff but who cares if you have a terrible sleep? Do your self a favour and go a few hundred metres down the road to the Abode so worth a few extra $!

Although the (very) minor issue of torn lacy curtains surfaced again in a different room, this hotel is still worth every cent. Especially during those icy cold Canberra winters, during which the reverse cycle air conditioning does its job brilliantly. :-)

We asked for a ground floor room as my wife cannot easily climb stairs and we got it. However we shouldn't have worried as they have a lift anyway. The place is very clean and comfortable. The staff are all both friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the place was lovely and warm despite the cold weather outside. I was worried that it would be out of the way but the roads make transit quick and easy and there is no road noise. Will definitely stay again.

Stayed here with my husband for five nights in August. Although the nights were cold, we were always comfortable, with quiet and efficient room air conditioning and a cosy quilt. Staff in all areas of the motel were friendly, helpful and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure we received the best value at time of booking, and this level of service continued at check-in and throughout our stay, which included five dining room visits (5 hot breakfasts and 2 dinners). The bowl of complimentary fresh fruit on the reception desk was a sweet bonus.

Traveling in from Orbost, hotel is very easy to locate, reception staff were very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel location made it easy to travel to every location we attempted to find. The morning breakfast buffet was very good!

We were very impressed when we stayed for one night. The bed was very very comfortable, warm and luxurious bedding. (Which is a must for Canberra) The room itself was clean and spacious. Location wasn't a factor for us as we were visiting family and just needed somewhere to sleep and for this reason I would recommend it to people in the same boat.

A convenient place to stay for us as we were heading for the NSW Snow fields. It is at Southern end of City and easy to join main South Road out of Canbera. Our room was comfortable and quite hot as thermastat was set at 27 degrees C. We turned it off and opened door as window was screwed shut. I think window would have fallen out if it was opened. The curtains were torn. Otherwise the room was nice, comfortable and very quite. Under cover parking available but most cars were parked outside. We ate at the German Club, almost next door, so do not know what food is like, but a happy hour was advertised.

I chose this hotel as it was really easy to get to from the main highways. Check in was warm and friendly. The lady on duty was fun and informative. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean sound proof. We had a ground floor room and the AC was a huge plus as the temperatures were close to freezing. There is a laundry with washing machines and dryers near the pool. They are coin operated and reception will give you change for larger money. My only complaint is that it is not fully enclosed and doing laundry at night was freezing cold. However, it was a great feature after 2 weeks of not getting to do washing. Breakfast was a bit of catch as I did not realise that if you book a listing with breakfast it is only continental. We had to pay $10 each to upgrade to a full breakfast. Sunday morning was not great as large family groups were taking all the food and the kitchen could not replenish in time. Tables were not cleared either. I suggest don't take the breakfast option but rather travel 5min to the sweet town centre and have breakfast at one of the many eateries. There are 2 village centres 5 min away. These include an amazing collection of coffee shops, restaurants, shops of all shapes and sizes. The hotel is also close enough to all the cultural visits, by car. The final morning there was a fire alarm and everyone was evacuated into the freezing cold. The emergency exit door was locked and no-one could open it, but we could push the fire doors and exit that way. Just not sure how useful that would be if the 'fire' was in that hallway. Most people were underdressed for the cold and although the staff member came out briefly to tell us to wait a while till the fire department gives the ok to enter, we were never given an explanation. I felt especially sorry for a very old lady who was out there with her bare feet and nighty and only her daughter holding her up.

The hotel has just been furbished recently, so it's clean and fresh. I love the big TV in the room (bigger than most hotels!). The only complaint would be the wifi connection is not very stable, so I have a hard time logging or even checking my emails. Breakfast is served on 1st floor just next to lobby, but with limited variety and seems to be the same everyday. Location is a bit far if you expect to visit downtown, you'll need a car.

Great little hotel right off the main road from the south. This Best Western is clean and seems recently renovated or just in good condition. Staff and maids were very friendly. Was winter so we never tried the poll

This hotel is a little out of the city, but that is ok if you just want to have a bed for the night and don't want to venture out and about. In fact it would be a good stop over if you are on the way to the snow, as it is probably one of the closest Canberra hotels to the Monaro hwy. The room was clean and spacious and I ate in the restaurant which had really nice food. A plus for this hotel. Only fault for me, was the noise from the corridor. I could clearly hear people from outside my room.

The Best Western Plus in Narrabundah was a pleasant hotel for my overnight stay. It was comfortable and had plenty of amenities. Pros The room had: - a comfortable bed - a lounge area with a TV and table - bench space with electricity outlets - tea and coffee making facilities - a bar fridge - a TV in the bedroom - air conditioning - a luggage rack - hanging space for clothes - an electronic safe - ironing board and iron - robes to wear - complimentary toiletries - DVD player was available - hairdryer - a clock radio - free parking - free WiFi (the download speed was 0.93Mb/s and upload 0.31Mb/s on my iPhone) - complimentary continental breakfast - pool and sunbathing area - a restaurant and bar with happy hour - a guest laundry - it was quiet Cons - There is nothing much in walking distance from the hotel, but plenty of activities within a short driving distance. I would happily stay here again.

The hotel is well situated for a short stay near Canberra. Very clean, good service and remarkable breakfast buffet. Good package for an acceptable price. Right next door there is a very nice club, only 100 meters walk. Highly recommendable accommodation.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Queen Bed Deluxe room and it was very good. The room was large and clean with a queen size bed, couch, tv, bar fridge, free wifi and nice modern bathroom. A free continental breakfast was included and there was also a gym available. The location was about 8 kms out of the city centre, but as Canberra is very quiet, it only takes 5 minutes by car. Also right next door is the Harmonie German Club which serves great food, beer and schnapps and the restaurant hub of Kingston is also only about 5 minutes away. At about $135 per night it was very good value and we'd definitely use it again.

We were in Canberra to attend a morning tea for the Aussie Hero Quilts group. We visited friends who live in Canberra and reconnected with friends/old workmates from over 20 years ago. The hotel is in a convenient location for the places that we were going to and have found it a very well maintained and comfortable hotel to stay in. We didn't mention the pillows as we were in a hurry when we left.

Stayed 3 nights whilst visiting relatives and found this hotel to be more than adequate. Location was fine and staff were professional and friendly. We received an upgrade on arrival and our room which overlooked the pool provided a very comfortable home base for us. The bed was very comfortable and once we replaced the doona with a blanket, which was provided, we slept much better. Breakfast (continental) was also included and we were happy with the choice provided. Cereals toast fruit yoghurt pastries and tea and coffee. A hot breakfast is available if preferred. Arrived late on a Friday night and were given a free upgrade to a Executive Queen Room. Room was in good condition, clean, modern and well appointed. Continental breakfast was included in the room rate and was fresh with good variety. Great rate through Agoda. Would happily stay again.

The room while not large, was very nice, comfortable, clean and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the Motel itself was in an excellent location for site seeing. Wifi was reasonable, and there was plenty of parking, although some of it was in a poorly lit section at the back.

Lovely room, clean and updated. Breakfast was included and was good. The only drawback was the size of the bathroom - way too small for the room. There were tea and coffee making facilities but no milk provided so we had to go out and buy milk on the 2nd day - first night we had none.

It was a clean hotel with a great location. However the layout of the bathroom is less that convenient with having to squeeze your legs under the basin to sit on the toilet!! Breakfast is ok but often things are stale. It's meant to be a best west 'plus' but it's more on the basic level for accommodation. ok value for money but you are more paying for the convenient location to everything you need.

Didn't want to stay in the center of the city and this place was ideal. Booked an overnight stay and was very pleased with the motel. Good parking area. It was very clean, neat and welcoming - impressive. Bathrobes and hairdryer were in the closet. Room was on the busy road side but was surprisingly quiet. Beds were very comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, but not cheap. Lovely linen table clothes and attentive staff. Continental breakfast was included and adequate. Pool area looked nice and was clean and looked after. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again next trip.

This was an average motel room. We stayed only one night and that was enough. There was no bathrobe in the closet. Continental breakfast was included but very limited. Restaurant very pricey which we believe makes people go elsewhere to eat. Not close to Canberra and not too many restaurants nearby.

An excellent hotel that was very comfortable, very spacious and comfortable room and had a tremendous view and great bed. Loved the convenience of the location and seeing a giant flock of cockatoos landing in the trees across the yard in the morning was a bonus!

My daughter and I recently stayed 1 night when visiting the Bus Depot Markets. This hotel is not situated in the centre of Canberra however it was central to our needs and offers excellent value for money. Our room was clean and comfortable with ample parking. We had a free continental breakfast which provided a variety of cereal options, fresh fruit, breads and pastries. Check in and check out was a breeze and staff were cheerful and friendly.

The bathroom looks a little tired. There is rust seeping from behind the vanity mirror.The bathrobe was missing from the closet. A room service menu item I ordered wasn't available but was substituted with a very nice meal. How old is this property? The bottom of the swimming pool has worn paint on it. Could they get International cable TV, HBO or BET? The night staff were polite and efficient. The morning staff member handed me a doodle doo number to give to the taxi driver, a number referenced in brothels. The decor of the restaurant and bar needs up dating.

Plenty of parking, great rooms and friendly staff. Limited breakfast due to it being holiday but the food was great. Bathrooms clean and spacious enough, beds very comfortable.Great value and will stat there again.

very good stay, slightly out of the main centre, but was good for us for where we wanted to go to. Canberra needs a car to get around as distances are far. Room was large enough and the shower was terrific.

Stayed 1 night in April with breakfast included, however, when checkout I was asked to pay 10 dollars for my breakfast because I ate their hot foods, eg egg, bacon, sausage and hatch brown. After protest, the manager agreed to waive the charge. Don't assume breakfast included you can eat all the foods on the table in this hotel. I have never experience such bad service in any hotel I stayed onshore and offshore. Room clean, location good when you have a car. But will not make booking with breakfast with this hotel again.

We stayed 4 nights here as part of our road trip to Canberra for the Versailles exhibition at the NGA. We requested a quiet room away from traffic noise but were initially given one overlooking the main divided road. This was changed (at our request) and we ended up with a quiet room but it overlooked the car park. Fortunately, there is so much to see and do in Canberra that our outlook didn't really matter. It's classified as 4+ star but its probably more accurately described as a 3+ star (although NSW ratings may differ from Victoria's) - it's more like a good business hotel. A substantial continental breakfast is included in the overnight tariff (fresh fruit, yoghurt, canned fruit, a good range of juices and a variety of breads and toppings, tea and coffee), although we were surprised to see very bruised and darkened pineapple pieces every morning. Having the fan in the bathroom connected to the light was annoying (and uncomfortably cold). A limited Foxtel service is available to all rooms. Beds were comfortable and the room was well-darkened. Some staff (although not all) at reception were not overly friendly - getting a smile and a greeting from some was not an easy task. Location was good for what we wanted to see and do - a short drive to Manuka shops and not far from the Lake, galleries, library, Old Parliament House etc. Our restaurant meal at the hotel was disappointing - the service was very slow (considering the number of people dining) and serving sizes were quite small, considering the cost.

Stayed overnight.Staff went out of their way to accommodate us arriving early, and returning lost drink bottle to us. Room was modern with free Foxtel and wifi. Showers were hot and steady. Great location, adjoining Manuka and Kingston. Would be very happy to recommend to any Canberra travellers. Didn't make use of nice dining room adjacent to reception this time but will be sure to try on our next visit.

While a few of the faces appear to have changed at this lovely hotel since I was last there, the high level of service has remained the same. The only (very minor) issue was that one of the curtains in the room was torn in places (possibly by a previous guest), though this can be easily fixed. Nonetheless, I'll be back on August 10th. :-)

Son and I down from Sydney for the weekend. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, unasked by us we moved us to a room with two beds at no xtra charge. Rooms clean and tidy, brekky good value for $, free wifi a plus for the kid !. Really friendly and lovely staff a real plus. Would definitely return.

Stayed here for a week on business 14 - 18 November. Room was smaller than I had anticipated. Although it was very clean and tidy. Shower, Bathroom and Toilet is a bit small two people would struggle to share. The hotel has a nice restaurant with very good meals although it is next to the foyer and check in not a separate area if you were looking for a somewhat quite dinner. Recommend the Chicken Creaser Salad. The transit noise from other patrons is can be heard within the room and the use of the shower and toilet. This hotel is rated 4 and a half stars not sure about that? The hotel is next to the Hermione German Club and the Spanish Australian Club both serve excellent meals and welcome visitors.

The room was well appointed & very clean but not overall roomy, I did have a couple of issues in a room & had to change rooms. Very obliging friendly team. Some areas e.g. curtains needed looking at but was very convenient to the Canberra hospital.

I chose the hotel mainly because it was available (attending a trade show during a Parliamentary sitting - not a wise idea!). However it turned out to be surprisingly easy to get to and from the city centre, and easy to get to from out of town (and to escape the city from at the end). Overall a quite convenient location near major roads. Check-in was easy with very friendly staff available. The efficient friendly staff in the restaurant later help make it a very pleasant stay. The room was described as the "best in the house". Okay, it was probably really a two-room apartment, but the lounge room was bizarrely bare, with only a TV on the wall, a three seater couch opposite it, and a very small table with two chairs in a corner. You could have played cricket in the rest of that room! It's a wasted opportunity to do something nice with the room. There is a counter with the usual fridge under and room for kettle etc on top; tea and coffee making facilities only, but quite tidy. The bedroom is very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom looked fairly recently renovated and in top condition. It was probably the cleanest bathroom and general room I've seen in a hotel in a long long time! Only complaint was the utter lack of available power points. The only one int he lounge was by the kettle, so couldn't charge & use the phone while sitting comfortably. And the only one in the bedroom I could find was by the door, opposite the bed. I was staying unexpectedly so didn't have my CPAP, but if I had I'd have been annoyed as I couldn't have plugged it in. Was this hotel pre-electricity?? The in-house restaurant does a nice dinner menu and breakfast is usual mid-range hotel fare. My curry dinner was very nice, and the morning croissants were real croissants, not supermarket bun-equivalents. Overall a very good hotel, well priced and situated, and I'll stay there next time I'm in town.

Lovely quiet setting, swimming pool, beautiful rooms, wifi free. Dining was lovely, my husband had the lamb shank, and for my Vegan palate they had bruschetta, beer battered chips and pasta ... very reasonable price. This is a stop over for me on business, been so happy with the service in the last 4 years, we decided to make a weekend here. Highly recommended.

This has got to be one of the best value for money hotels I have stayed in. Well appointed rooms,comfortable beds,every amenity and great restaurant and bar,happy hour 6 days a week. For families ,swimming pool and spacious surrounds ensures every box is ticked. Great location,plenty of parking,all in all great value.

Stayed in double room, very clean modern accomodation with comfortable large double bed. Basic motel accomodation - only adverse issue was bathroom was very small. Had dinner in restuarant and meal was good quality with good servings. Cooked breakfast was also ordered in room. Arrived on time and was of good quality. Staff were helpful, attentive and friendly

The hotel is 5 kilometers outside the city. This is a small two floor building (corridors are inside the building, unlike many BW hotels) based in a very quiet area. The hotel is quite modern. Within the room we saw a tear in the upholstery and some small stains on the carpet, but it sill looked luxurious. Upon online reservation directly at the bestwestern hotels chain, I could not figure out what type of room we are getting. Luckily it appeared that I reserved a deluxe room type. We stayed on a Thursday night and on a Friday night, hotel occupancy seemed to be low. Front desk staff was polite and helpful. Since it was 5 km away from the city, the rate was lower than in city center hotels. Avoid parking in the city - walking from the hotel just 600 meters (0.4 mile) to a bus stop, one can ride a bus to the city / to the restaurants area. The office staff gave us the directions. Parking was fee (no roof cover), WiFi was free. Breakfast was not included. As usual, coffee and tea could be prepared in the room. We borrowed plates from the coffee shop and prepared some breakfast in the room.

Make sure you calculate how much you stay is going to be haha we were told one price on the phone and then checking in 1 hour later was charged $200 extra the young girl tried to charge us for an extra night when we clearly said that days then there was gonna to be need but apart from that clean rooms comfy bed And upon check out they try to charge us for stuff from the candy bar -beers which my husband would never drink we take it all out of the fridge and we checked the first day and notice 2 choc bars missing so just make sure you take a check of the candy bar otherwise you may get sneaky charges

Stayed here just for two nights. Comfortable stay, family room was spacious, comfortable bed, all basic amenities available and not very far from the city. Car parking and restaurant available. Overall enjoyed our 3 days here.

Booked the room as it had the room set up we required - queen and a single. My three things for a hotel - 1 was the bed comfortable - Yes. 2 was the shower pressure good - Yes and hot. 3 could you hear a conversation from next door? - Yes!!! Therefore would not recommend and would not be going back! The carpet needs to be replaced, as does the curtains and the bed skirts. The bathroom was small but adequate. Although they do skimp on the towels - 1 per person! What really needs to be replaced is the soundproofing in the room and double glazing on the windows! Otherwise it would be an acceptable hotel.

Checkin was simple and very quick. The first thing we saw were the torn net curtains and were told that this was normal due to the sun?! I've read some of the reviews and was iffy about the 3 but it's deserved sorry as I agree with what others have said. The noise on the ground floor was loud to say the least. We rolled up a towel and put it under the door ?? Not sure the bed was a queen as it was pretty small but comfortable and a good choice of pillows. One towel each? I know I could've asked for more but when a woman has booked the room I think most know we need 2 ?? Breakfast was marred by the concierge cleaning walls. Please stop this practice. I couldn't eat. The chairs need a good cleaning as ours were stained and I noticed many others were too. Would I return? Only if I read more positive comments with 5s.

I had booked online through tripadvisor. Even though I arrive late in the evening they had my room ready and provided me with milk to have tea. The receptionist even assisted me to plan my sightseeing for the next day. She advised me about places worth visiting, provided me with printouts of maps, bus routes and timings and the best route to take. The room as very clean and cosy. Would definitely recommend it to others.

I booked 2 rooms for the weekend for our family. We had both rooms adjacent to each other which was handy. The reception staff were great and we were checked in quickly. Even though the hotel was full there was ample parking for everyone. The rooms were clean, comfortable, quiet and not too small. We had the buffet breakfast which was plentiful and well presented. Though not in the city centre it does not take long to travel to the various attractions. Compared to other accommodation in Canberra I can't fault the room rates we paid. I've tried a few motels in Canberra over the years, but will definitely stay here again, I can highly recommend this motel.

Thanks Rachael from reception for making sure my stay ( 2 weeks ) was top notch . The food ( room service ) at first glance I thought to be a bit pricey , but after indulging a few times found it to be worth every cent . Set back off the road ( couldn't really hear the traffic ) and next door and across the road there are clubs to visit and eat as an alternative , makes this a great location . Will make this my home base south of the CBD in the future ..

The hotel was a little removed from any shops so a car would be needed. The room was on the small side but serviceable. There was free wifi. The bathroom was quite a bit outdated and very small. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was until 11pm which was good for us as we were travelling quite a distance and arriving late. There was breakfast available in the restaurant downstairs. The cooked breakfast was basic and i think slightly overpriced for the variety of food available. There was a swimming pool but it was too cold to even look at. The rooms were quiet. The beds were comfortable and once we worked out the air conditioning the room was warm.

The staff were very helpful, we were not able to check in until quite late at night so one of the staff left our key in a safe for us. The room was nicely renovated and the bed was comfy :) breakfast was okay, a standard hotel buffet, nothing special but not bad either

Nice hotel, bit out of town, parking a bit of a problem, staff nice, German club across road for different choice of meals, clean rooms, beds a bit uncomfortable, some machines in laundry not working at the time, overall ok.

We stayed here for two nights in January. Check in was pleasant and easy. Our room had a double room and a single room, and a travel cot had been provided for our 1 year old. Beds were comfy, air con worked! Fridge in room with a couple of cartons of milk provided. I asked for some more milk at reception for the children and was happily given more. We ate in the hotel on the first night and while the food was really good, the wait was ridiculously long!! Not good with 2 young, restless children! Fairly easy to find, as far as Canberra goes! Check out was quick.

Great overall experience. Food was a little underwhelming. Not enough parking bays - I had to park elsewhere both nights. Noise from other rooms transmitted into my room was a nuisance. Excellent staff.

A lovely hotel. Close to city. Good room rate. Food generous serves but staff were very busy- so had to wait longer than usual for drinks and order to be taken. Would have been better to order room service so I could work. Quiet. Professional and swift check in. Would recommend if you need a comfortable reasonable overnight in Canberra.

Modern, well styled and super clean. Great value for money on my booking. Staff friendly and helpful. I had mistakenly booked for the wrong date ( day after) but they had it sorted pleasantly in no time. Would also choose again as I pass thru Canberra as its location is convenient.

This hotel may require some renovation for the 4 star rating. Good: Location is close to Manuka, TV channels with Foxtel, Restaurant on-site, reasonably nightly rates. Not very good: The bed is quite old and the mattress including pillows and blanket are quite uncomfortable compare to the others 4 star hotels I stayed in Canberra. The carpet in the room is old and needs to be replaced. The room and the bathroom is cold and the air-conditioner in the living area produces noise, so you cannot leave it running overnight. So, prepare for the cold night during the winter time. The internet connection is extremely slow, practically unusable. There is an Ethernet socket on the wall for the internet connection, but there is no cable, even in Reception. You will not find a coffee machine in the room, but there is a kettle with the instant coffee and tea.

Not a great stay. The mattress was very uncomfortable and as noted by another reviewer the walls are very thin. I had a room service meal that I could not say rated very well either. There's a place next door (Abode) that's cheaper, much more up to date and has almost everything you need. I wouldn't stay there again

Stayed here for one night on the way to the snow. We had a double & single bed, clean room, good facilities & good location, not noisy even though on a busy road. Convenient parking, short drive into Canberra. Pool looked nice just here in the Winter so too cold to swim!

Room was clean and spacious, Heating worked well, free wi-fi. Noisy corridor with doors banging shut. Room had thin walls (could hear our neighbours talking, toilets flushing, taps etc). Uncomfortable bed (sank in the middle). Holes in bath towels. Location a little out of the way

We stayed overnight on our way to Thredbo. It's in a great location, only a few kms from the shops and restaurants at Manuka and Kingston. Our room was clean and tidy and the staff at Reception were very friendly. We did have a little noise from the adjacent room, just talking from about 5am. The talking didn't seem excessively loud, I think the walls are just a little thin! We didn't use the dining room, but it looked very well patronised for breakfast as we were leaving the next morning.

We had a restful stopover here, a last minute decision to escape some terrible driving conditions on the way home from the snow. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable (although sadly lacking a microwave), the heater was effective (although rather noisy), the buffet breakfast was tasty and especially fun for the five year old (who wished it was warm so he could swim in the picturesque pool). This place is terrific value and we would stay here again in a flash.

At $118 per night the room (mid July 2016) was great value. The room was very clean and comfortable. The only shortcoming was the smallness of the bathroom. The central air-conditioning system worked well and I did not have to use the supplementary air-con unit available in the room although it was a frosty time of Canberra (mid-winter) with overnight temperature down to -5 deg C after a day of 7 deg C. I never felt cold in the room. This hotel is in a quiet spot situated about 15 minutes' drive (45 minutes by bus) from Canberra city centre and therefore might not be first choice for visitors to Canberra, but for me it was a good choice. Visitors will find its proximity to suburban centres of Manuka, Kingston and Woden very convenient for restaurants and shopping. It is also less than 10 minutes' drive to the National Art Gallery. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient.

Excellent value for money, really great customer service throughout my stay. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Location is average, parking can sometimes be tight but I managed to find a spot every night I was there. Also, while I appreciate the free WiFi, it is quite slow. Highly recommended.

Best value Canberra has to offer amazing food and the most delightful wonder staff rooms are very clean comfortable I'd go back again and again the in house restaurant is wonderful room service is prompt and on time all meals were absolutely delicious facilities were great and the motel pool area was well thought out the in house bar was a treat I'd recommend this place in a heart beat

Boring menu that hasn't changed in ages, though the food is fine. Very friendly staff and comfortable bed. Bathrooms are tiny and if your a large person you wouldnt fit.. Ask for if you dont like being squished.

i stayed overnight here and was very impressed at just how comfortable the room was it is close to the city and restuarants i will definitely be staying here again if ever i need an hotel for a stay in canberra.

The staff here are always friendly and welcoming. This hotel is easy to access, has plenty of parking and the rooms are all very tidy and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant every night and the food was all tasty and served with a smile.

I travel for a living, hotel to hotel, this is a strong 4 out of 5 as it has many things others don't in Australia. Very good location & ease of access with lots of free parking. Arrived on a Sunday late evening, warm reception at check in with lots of friendly advice. No food service on Sunday on site but you can walk next door to a great German theme sports club for great meal. It has all the amenities you would want like fitness room next to the pool. Nice room, was a little sparse with furniture, defiantly missed a coffee table. Got a 2nd floor corner suite sadly located above the parking area, was a little noisy with coming & going. Had to have iron switched out, was scorched by previous occupant. Huge draw back was very small & I mean small bathroom! I'm sure they can't all be this size. If your a larger person you should ask if they have room with larger bathroom. Staff are so very nice I'm sure they will do whatever it takes to make your stay comfortable. Kitchen opens at 6.30am for breakfast & available evening meal. It's clean, comfortable & good location for a very reasonable price. Suggest calling hotel direct for better rate as Best Western site ads over $50 a night room rate as I found comparing on booking sites.

Booked without a lot of knowledge about Canberra so was pleasantly surprised that hotel was not far from many of the sites we wished to see. Also close to train station for intercity connections. Nice friendly staff good large rooms and good restaurant. Will definitely stay here again.

This was a stop over for our road trip from Melbourne to Sydney. It is only a couple of minutes drive from Manuka which has plenty of dining options. Probably not as convenient if you don't have a car. There are plenty of car parks which are free by the way. Our room was quite spacious and clean. Looks like they have only recently renovated. This is probably one of the best value accommodation options around Canberra. Will return if visiting Canberra again.

Last minute decision for overnight trip to Canberra to visit War Memorial and got good deal on line with continental breakfast included, great staff, great room, quiet and clean, no bath but I prefer to shower, very good facilities, hubby and I were going to have dinner elsewhere but came back and enjoyed a great meal in the restaurant with happy hour, only small criticism was busy morning for breakfast and staff trying to keep filling up food and coffee machine not working properly.

Where to start :) What are fantastic hotel I would very much high recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Canberra or thinking of visiting when arriving we were greeted by Joe who delivered the most outstanding customer service, he had even told us he had been up to the room and put the air con on to a warm 25 deg ( cant get better customer service ) he gave us a low down on the hotel and how far it is to the city . The room is nice and spacious we stayed in the executive Queen room , every thing from a comfy bed ,a really nice shower with high pressure , there are any negatives about this hotel at all, The wifi is a little slow but thats ok

The hotel is recently renovated, rooms are well equipped, with free wifi and cable. The bathroom was small and had a shower but not a bath (I prefer this to standing in a bath to shower). The hotel is out of town, and there isn't much around. You need to drive about 10 minutes to get to much in the way of options to eat and drink. Breakfast buffet was OK, but coffee was crap. All in all, a decent place for an overnight stay, but if you want to be within walking distance of restaurants and bars look elsewhere.

Lovely hotel. We used trip advisor as we had not planned a stop over in Canberra. We were pleasantly surprised. Clean modern great value for money. Friendly staff. Restaurant food delicious. It will be the only choice for us in Canberra from now on and it is not overly priced.

We first stayed here in 2015. Was towing a camper trailer and didn't feel like setting it up for 1 night. Staff were very accommodating and found room for our trailer. The rooms are very clean & tidy, and buffet breakfast was lovely. Have stayed a couple of times since then.

From check in to check out Garden City Hotel was great. Check in was quick and friendly our room was clean, comfortable and fully equipped. The restaurant was great with a good selection for breakfast and dinner. The hotel was easy to find and was in a quiet area with plenty of onsite parking. Wifi was excellent. Would stay here again and can recommend it.

After a full day at work and the drive down from Sydney it is always nice to receive a warm welcome from Joe and Raelene at reception, even remembering which drink I like!. In the dining room Jessica always gives a welcome, and also knows that I like my sauce on the side. Not only is the Hotel clean, and comfortable, it is the attention to detail from staff at Garden City that I like, and would and have defiantly recommended to others. Therese

Decided to visit Canberra to research some family history at the War memorial. Found a deal with this hotel on the Net - $298 for 2 nights including full hot breakfast. Staff very attentive to any needs and the Restaurant was great- could not fault the food and service. Located in Narabundah its not near the city as such but handy to Parliament House. Unfortunately sleep is mildly affected by the sounds of toilets flushing in the next room and doors slamming. However once things quieten down by about 11pm its OK.

Hotel is located a bit far from city and attractions. Breakfast is good however not much choice (variety) of food. Internet speed is good, staff is friendly, although small services of equipment need to be done. In general it is good value for money for short stay,

All round good hotel, clean and comfy one bed apartment (albeit a bit dark due to poor lighting). Staff were great - helpful and really friendly. Restaurant was great for both dinner and breakfast, also accommodating for our 11 mth old, inc. had high chairs. Location was great, close to Kingston Foreshore and most of the sites.

Reception staff were welcoming and provided fresh milk for our cup of tea. Buffet breakfast was good but had to wait a while for poached eggs. Good location not far from local shops and restaurants. Would stay here again next time we are in Canberra.

Hubby n I went for a trip. Our room was delightful and had everything you need: full cable TV with movies, kids and educational not just nick and fox sports, so ladies we can actually utilize this. Bed was generous, supportive and comfortable. Room was well laid out and spacious. Generous portions for tea, coffee, and toiletress. Comfortable furniture. Staff are warm, welcoming and professional. The food is delectable. So much sauce for my garlic prawns some one has to tell Manu. It was perfect. Fantastic flavour, adequately sauces and filling, plus it was piping hot on a winter night. Staff in dinning were also welcoming, warm and professional. I really recommend this place for either meals, accommodation or both. It is also centrally located to other Canberra attractions and facilities.

As a sales rep i am always amazed when i get a lovely room that is quiet and comfortable, as generally there is something wrong, but not this time! i was very happy with the quality, decor, comfort and access to town.... great stay!

First stay at this hotel after many previous trips to Canberra. Hotel staff were friendly upon arrival, there was ample parking and check in was fast. The room was tidy, bed comfortable but the bathroom was poor. Very old and a tiny shower. That aside though, the rest of my room had ample space to relax for a few hours and do some work. I also had dinner in the restaurant which was dissapointing. The butter chicken was average at best and at $28 it's probably the most expensive curry in town. Had of it been amazing I wouldn't have worried what it cost. I'd recommend a short drive up to Kingston or Manuka for dinner as there's plenty of great restaurants there.

Pool upgrade would be an improvement. Pretty good overall. We were greeted by genuine, friendly staff, well equiped dining/lounge area with comfortable seats. A large variety of brochures for near by attractions and events. Small elevator. The motel is in a good location, good proximity to major roads to make travel by car easy to navigate around beautiful Canberra.

From the time you arrive to the time you leave the staff are there to help in any way they can they are approachable and genuine . The room, food, facilities and staff second to none. AWESOME and next time I'm in Canberra I know where I'll be staying.

The hotel was very clean, with good sized rooms, comfy bed and extra seating area. We liked the happy hour in the bar and ate at the restaurant several times. Food quality and presentation was good. Service was friendly and professional. The pool and outside area was lovely. Good to have laundry facilities and a gym as well. Only problem was the lack of transport as we didn't have a car. Would be perfect if this was not an issue.

This motel has been renovated and is a very comfortable place. The beds are good and the rooms clean. The dinner meal was good and breakfast was also OK. It would be good to have undercover parking especially in winter to keep the dew and ice off the car.

We nervously booked this using a Best Western gift card that was an apology for the most horrendous experience I've ever had (in a different Best Western). Thank goodness this stay was nothing like our previous one. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, relatively modern, and comfortable, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food, but we'd definitely be happy to stay there again.

First of all, the value of the room is poor. This is a best western plus, so it should be better. However, the shower facility is too old, and internet speed is too slow and useless. Moreover, they do not value the best western diamond member status at all! They directly told us they have no right to do an upgrade of the room... The service is bad too, and the location is far away from city center. Give the price, I do not recommend anyone to stay there!

We stayed one night at the Best Western Plus Garden City Hotel in April 2016. We had a pleasant stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and we got a good night sleep (comfortable bed and pillows, quiet air conditioner and nice solid curtains). There was a swimming pool and a well-equipped small gym. Free WiFi was available and the connection was steady and fast. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. Parking was free and easy and the hotel was conveniently located to the CBD. The room is quite small for the price that we paid for the room. Also a shame that breakfast wasn't served until 7am. Not great for people who are staying in Canberra to attend a morning event the following day.

Managed to obtain a 40% discount special on the Executive room. Appear to be regular special rates to watch out for that provide excellent value for the Executive rooms overlooking the pool area. Room size, amenity and cleanliness was very good but the toilet & bathroom is on the small side. Able to open a window for fresh air. Lift available to first floor was convenient. Hotel is located well south from Canberra CBD but not too far if you have your own transport (but a challenge if you don't!) as many attractions are on this side of the lake. Free on-site parking was a bonus. Reception, hotel and restaurant staff were all very courteous, friendly and helpful at all times. We ate in the restaurant on four occasions. Restaurant menu was enjoyable and competitively priced in comparison with similar venues in nearby Manuka and Kingston with good selection of dishes and wine list. Happy hour $4 drinks included good range available and encourages you to eat at the hotel! Full hot buffet breakfast for $19 pp was also very reasonable. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the executive room at the very attractive special rate on offer.

Partner and I decided to come down to Aust capital for the weekend and found Best Western hotel for 2 nights. Travelled from sydney to canberra on the friday evening and reception was still here to late check in till 11pm. which was definitely an convenient but if not they had a few security boxes to get your keys if you were arriving late. location is pretty decent roughly a 5 minute drive to local cafes and about 10 minutes off canberra city central. the room it self was fairly decent and bathroom is quick updated also. all rounder would give an 4.5/5 only the bases wish it was abit more closer to the city like cafes but still on high end. definitely would recommend

The best Western plus garden city hotel was easy to find , friendly quick and efficient check in . The room was clean and comfortable , breakfast down in the dining room was very nice well stocked and and great variety. We stayed over Easter and the restaurant wasn't open for dinner so they provided us with a list of restaurants around the area that were open. I would definitely recommend this motel .

The Best Western Plus Garden City has all the amenities you would expect in a city hotel including a restaurant and bar. The rooms are nice and there is free parking. It is necessary to drive to all of the main attractions including The Australian War Memorial and The Parliament. The restaurant in the hotel is pretty good for dinner but the breakfast for AUD 19 per person is not a very good choice. The only other place for dinning within walking distance is at the golf course across the street. The staff at the front desk are nice and pleasant. The guest laundry is a plus.

We stayed here for three nights and were extremely happy with all aspects of this hotel! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful; the room was modern, comfortable and well maintained. The restaurant menu offered a good variety for all meals at reasonable prices! We would definitely stay there again.

The staff here are excellent nothing is to much trouble for them and they are always very accommodating. I have been coming here for the last two years and will not stay anywhere else and I stay all over NSW for work. The rooms are always clean and the restaurant is excellent. Having stayed at an other Best Western Plus property this stay was disappointing. While the room was well appointed and up to standard the staff while doing their job left a bit to be desired. They seemed they were doing their job begrudgingly.

Trip to Canberra for a meeting and hotel was perfectly located. Reception staff were great and nothing was an issue. Room very clean and had all you require. Bed very comfortable and it was very quiet. Only complaint was power points were not ideally suited for business travellers looking for power for laptop etc. The single sheet toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom reminded me of primary school; but that is one of my personal hates!

Very comfortable stay, excellent off-street parking, and quiet surroundings. Our stay included tickets to the Tom Roberts Exhibition at the National Gallery, and breakfast each morning. The room was clean, a good size, and the bed comfortable. The aircon worked efficiently on a 35degree day. Breakfast was comprehensive in a delightful restaurant area. The staff were very attentive and efficient.

We stayed here for one night over Easter on a trip to the national galleries. We thought this is a really well run hotel with everything we needed and it represented great value. Nice bright rooms with a view of the pool. So much holiday accom in Australia is overpriced and underwhelming, it was nice to feel that this hotel was good value and tastefully done.

Parking was easy, check-in after 8pm was hassle free, excellent and warm customer service!!! very friendly staff and complimentary milk~~~We enjoyed our stay, so did my little one, her cot and linen were provided free of charge~we got a room with pool view too!

For 2 days cycling and gallery visiting Garden City Hotel was comfortable for a good night's rest. Pleasant and friendly personnel on the front desk who suggested we 'garage' our bikes inside- a nice accommodating touch so we didn't need to lock them up. Breakfast good- only complaint was freshly-made coffee would have been appreciated.

A friend and I stayed here for one night. We were greeted with a friendly smile and pleasant manner by the receptionist, despite being a touch before the 2 pm check in. The room was fresh and clean and as expected. Coffee was available in reception ($5) But unfortunately no food was offered on the Sunday, but the golf club across the road was available so not a big issue. The only downside was after booking the room, I realised I had been assigned a double room, so tried to email the manager on the contact details provided. No response was received, and I was then asked to pay an extra $20 to change on the day, Aside from that the hotel as fine and would probably choose to stay again, but make sure I checked the booking confirmation first

We were greeted at the desk by a charming and enthusiastic young woman who advised us we had an executive queen room. The room was spacious and overlooked the pool and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate. It looked as though it had recently been refurbished. The Hotel was close to Narrabundah which had an assortment of restaurants although the area looked very tatty. We'd certainly recommend the Garden City Hotel to friends who were on a trip to Canberra.

Very comfortable we have just stayed Best Western in Albury very happy. We would always look for this chain of accommodation over another. The cooked breakfast could have been replenished with a few more hot dishes.

Thr hotel is quite far out of the city so it was surprising that the dining room was closed for dinner over the Easter weekend though we had been informed before our visit. This was my second visit. The rooms are excellent. Clean and spacious. The service is, as always efficient and friendly. I rate it one of the best. The restaurant offers an wide range of meals. We stayed 4 nights at the Best Western Plus Garden City Hotel, the room was very clean and was tided daily. The room had enough to sleep 3 so the 3rd bed was used to store our luggage .As we were there to see the city highlights we came back to the room at the end of the day and the one thing we missed was a comfortable chair to sit on as we don't sit on the bed to watch T.V. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We used the pool and the gym, the gym equipment needs a little bit of maintenance i.e a few drops of oil on the stationary cycle. We enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again. The location was ideal for us, we were in a front room looking over the golf course, there was no traffic noise.

My husband , daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. It is tidy and clean with great service. We had an accommodation and breakfast package. Breakfast was extensive and yummy! We had room service for dinner both nights and the service was prompt and the meals generous and good value. We wanted a room at the last minute, and found it to be really comfortable, clean and well appointed for the price. It isn't too far from the centre of Canberra (only a 10 - 15 minute drive) and is very affordable. The beds were super comfortable with good pillows, and it was really quiet.

Great room for the cost, room had a plasma tv, kitchen, so much more than we expected. Very clean in general and customer service was good. Beds a little too soft for my liking but otherwise no real complaints. Oh, and there is complimentary WiFi.

The receptionist, when we arrived was very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom clean, but a tad small. We had a view of the pool from the window and the motel is reasonably close to the C.B.D. We ate the restaurant twice and the food was simply amazing. I had oysters( I figured as it was Canberra, the oysters would be flown in fresh every day) with a cheese topping...not the usual gluggy mess, but lightly grated and mixed with a light balsamic vinegar. The steaks were cooked exactly as required and the desserts, especially the sticky date pudding, are well made. Again the service from the waitresses was excellent, there must be something in the water in Canberra, everyone is pleasant, so unlike grumpy Melbourne folk.

Both my wife and I are Canberra locals but we at times choose to stay a Friday night in the city after a nice meal. This time we were to dine at Rubicon just a 4 minute Uber ride away from this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't have done more to help. Great customer service tends to be lacking a these days, but these guys rocked! Even though I sourced my deal through a third party (booking.com) I wasn't treated like a tight-ar$e and in fact received a free upgrade to a one room suite. Would stay again, for the right price....

Reasonable accommodation. Good breakfasts. Booked in on a deal which gave reduced rates and tickets to Tom Roberts. When we departed we were charged $94.00 more than the quoted rates. When we produced our quoted rates the figures were adjusted to correct figure and a refund was issued.

On arrival very friendly staff and helpful. For a bargain price for 3 adults we had a very clean room, complimentary biscuits with coffee. Location ideal, quiet area with a 10 minute drive to city centre.

This hotel was a good choice for us, easy to get to and from. We were upgraded and the room was terrific, very comfortable bed and pillows, they supplied real milk for your morning coffee too. We would definately recommend this hotel and would stay again.

This is a nice enough hotel and I thought it was extremely clean, but the rooms are very small. The bathroom is absolutely tiny! It was also very difficult to get fresh air as the window only opened a fraction, and we had difficulty with turning the air con from heat to cool. However the staff are very friendly and helpful, it is in a good position for Canberra sightseeing, and has quite a nice outdoor pool for relaxing afterwards. My main concern is the size of the rooms - perhaps we were put into one of the 'cheaper' options as we booked online.

This was my second time at this fine hotel. The rooms are a good size and have all the mod cons. There was no noise at night from adjoining rooms. The hotel is in a good location and convenient for all of Canberra's attractions. Manuka is 5 minutes drive away for shops and restaurants. There is also the German Club next door and the Golf Club across the road, which has good club style food. I'll continue to come back, and can recommend a short or long stay here. The front desk staff are friendly and very helpful (as all reviewers seem to mention).

We had an overnight stay and were very pleased we had chosen this establishment. Clean and quiet, nice pool and great buffet breakfast. Only short to tourist attractions and shopping. I will definitely stay here again.

There was nothing negative about our stay. The room was spacious, clean, serviced perfectly each day. All members of staff were helpful, chatty and pleasan The restaurant was exceptionally good, both ambiance and food quality, sensibly priced, and we recommend you try it. Plenty of free parking for large cars and easy access to the city. Also has an elevator for those heavy cases. We will stay again.

Stayed overnight on business. My 4th stay here. It has become my go-to hotel in Canberra. As always, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, such a change from a larger hotel. Room this time was very small, compared to previous stays. Not sure if this was due to the fact that I booked a standard room. Also found the light from a panel on the TV disturbing for sleeping and couldn't turn the TV off at the wall to stop power. Minor issue. Definitely recommend this hotel for corporate stays.

The receptionist (healthy Australian girl named Alisha) was so rude ,the room was nt ready by 2:30 and her behaviour was worst example of hospitality but the other lady on next day ( skinny australian ) was very cooperative but although we were not able to checkin at 2 pm .

I went for a sport/ business overnight stay, the staff were helpful with answers to question asked and a bit more. The hotel is in a quieter part of Canberra, meaning not so much noise and fumes to annoy you when sleeping.

My sister and i stayed here for 4 nights and what a great 4 nights it was. It had such great facilitates especially the pool area and the customer service, was just wow. All the time a smile on their faces , always helpful, was great to stay at a place where the people really enjoyed doing their job and they did it so well.

This motel was easy to get to and had plenty of easy parking. It was close to the National Gallery and the lake and cafés. The room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the cooked buffet breakfast as well. There was plenty of choice. The fresh fruit was delicious. We arrived on a Sunday and were disappointed that the restaurant was not open that night but went for a short drive to Kingston and found a very nice Thai restaurant so that was OK.

Great location, great service, very clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast hot was ok- would be better if there was choice of eggs made to order. Will definitely choose to stay here again if in Canberra especially as we came to watch the women's baseball tournament walking distance just behind the hotel.

Garden City is set in spacious grounds and is only minutes from many of the most visited attractions in Canberra, staff courteous and friendly, very good value for money. Rooms are spacious and well maintained.

We stayed here on our drive back to Melbourne from Sydney. All we were looking for was a quiet and clean room for a good sleep. And this hotel was just that. The hotel staff were friendly and Joe from front desk gave us an upgrade from Standard to Executive room. That was great. However, I don't think the room was any larger. The one thing we noticed was that the bathroom was much smaller than in the other hotels. A little cramped. The breakfast served at the hotel was quite good. We decided to have breakfast there before leaving because we did not want to stop over at any other place again. All in all - a quiet place for a quick stop.

The best part of our stay was the warm welcome we received from Joe at the check in desk. Joe exceeded my expectation and was a delight to deal with. We would have used the pool if we stayed longer. Room was very comfortable

We were there for one night only on the busy summernats weekend. The room was accommodating enough. Bathroom on the smaller size as compared to all other Hotels/Motels I have stayed in. Still the stay was comfortable, staff was friendly. Breakfast was great,lots of variety and fresh. Overall, great for short stays.

We had stayed here a few years ago in just a standard queen room which was really roomy and had been really well designed. This time we opted to splurge on an upgraded room called the executive queen room and were really really disappointed . What a let down, the room was pokey and the bathroom must have been 1/4 the size of the standard room we stayed in previously. This is a shame. I doubt we will return. However the hot breakfast was excellent and couldn't be faulted-just as we remembered last visit.

The room was neat and clean and well kept. The bathroom was very compact like in a motor home. The shower head was great. Rob at the desk is friendly and awesome and very accomodating, BUT this is a budget hotel and I wouldn't stay there for any more than just a night passing through. You will not get extras like shampoos, etc as it is budget...a great option for driving through.

I booked this hotel last minute as illness interrupted my drive from Bega to my home in Sydney, so I got a cracking deal at the hotel. I was very impressed by all of the staff I encountered and the room was lonely. I wish I'd been able to stay longer and felt well enough to take advantage of the hotel amenities more!

We were very impressed with this motel where we stayed for 5 nights. We were welcomed by Joe at front of desk. He was very hospitable and helpful. The room was very clean, bed was very comfortable and the motel is only a short drive to all attractions. There are daily newspapers and fruits on the ground floor. Fresh milk for your beverages in the room. Price is reasonable plus a beautiful garden and swimming pool for all ages in the property. A relaxing and quiet accommodation overall and Tom Roberts exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia was great as well.

We only had an overnight stay but we were very comfortable. We didn't have time to use all the amenities, but the pool looked lovely. Staff were very friendly and easy to deal with, would stay here again.

Staying at Best Western Plus Garden City Hotel was absolutely enjoyable. Great service the Staff just excellent very helpful and friendly the housekeeping staff were just superb having our room looking just so nice each day they work very hard and deserve full credit for the high standard of our room, thankyou. Great location being out a little bit from the main part of Canberra with easy access to all the main touring spots of Canberra. The breakfast put on every day offered a really good hearty meal for a day of touring around the area. Congratulations to all the staff for making our stay so comfortable and it was so easy to sit back and relax when returning from our days out. Would thoroughly recommend Best Western to all our friends.

We stayed at Queen sized bed and single bed room. The room was very clean and all the staff was friendly. The free breakfast was quite tasty. 10 minuets drive to City centre. Will stay here again when we come to Canberra.

Hotel was clean and well appointed although restaurant was closed at the time. Parking available. Quiet position in South Canberra but very convienent to city and attractions. Friendly and helpful staff.

Nice and quiet, very relaxing. Good proximity to Kingston Foreshore. Ideally located to link roads to the rest of Canberra meaning you are never more than 20 minutes from anything. Staff were excellent and the room was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Will stay again.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was very clean. Beds were really comfortable. Breakfast was included and was yummy. Would definitely stay here again! :) We were a couple with a teenage daughter.

Our Studio room was very clean and the bed very comfy. The bathroom was quite small but had a good shower.The location was away from the hustle and bustle and was nice and quiet and the staff were very friendly.

The location in Narrabundah suited us, and is about 6 kms outside Canberra city –an easy drive. The biggest surprise came on check-in. Kim the receptionist said “Do you want fresh milk?” Huh?!! I had always understood that the hospitality industry world-wide only ever had tiny thimbles of Ultra Horrible Taste milk, to be doled out as sparingly as liquid gold. But no, she was serious, and duly handed over a 300ml carton of real milk with the key card. We were given a complimentary upgrade to an Executive room, on the upper floor, with views over the hotel garden and pool. The corridor smelt slightly antiseptic (better than many of the alternatives), and the motion sensors for the lights over each room door clicked slightly as you walked past. The room itself was scrupulously clean, and well set up in typical hotel fashion. Décor was coffee – babycino walls, latte furnishings and espresso timber. A bit bland, perhaps, but practical and comfortable. The aircon, kettle, TV, room safe and free wifi (a rare offering in Oz) were all easily used and worked well. It was a similar story with the bathroom – no startling originality but everything was clean and worked well. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean and well-maintained. Nor did we use the dining room – we already had breakfast organised - so I can't comment on that either. So, lots to like and little to complain about. Maybe, if you're sharing the room, the night lighting could be improved for when one of you wants to get up without disturbing the other.

A good stay we enjoyed. Rooms were nice and clean and well made. Lot of facilities were available, including a personal safe. Room service was excellent. A nice lady at customer ser ice, very polite and helpful.

When travelling to Canberra for business from Sydney deciding to go the day before and stay overnight or drive down very early that work day can be a challenge. The decision to fly is easy however coming the day earlier insures against any delays and means that you can start you appointments first thing. Travelling with stock and samples means the most efficient way is to drive. 3 hours stopping at the bakery in Goulburn across from the Big Merino then on into Canberra very doable. Then where to stay - do you stay in town or out near where your meetings are. This visit I decided to stay out of the city. The room was quite well appointed, very comfortable bed and I could see people enjoying the pool which was quite nice. Challenge was that Sunday night the restaurant was closed and therefore no room service. As a woman travelling alone I'm not keen on going and sitting alone in a restaurant. I was advised to check out the German Club next door. It was good for a quick meal nothing glad but good cooking and for a Sunday night quite lively. I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone on a budget.

We spent 2 nights at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and upgraded us to a Deluxe room as we were travelling with an elderly person and wanted our rooms to be next to each other. The rooms are very quiet, the beds very comfy. The bathroom was on the small size but very clean. The breakfast was okay with a selection of cereals, bread, eggs, bacon mushrooms. The hotel has a small pool which we used to cool off. The hotel is located about 15 minutes from the centre of Canberra but Kingston and Manuka cafes and restaurants are close by. The German Club is located next to the hotel and has a great menu

I always do my research way ahead and I would say this hotel did meet and exceeded my expectation. Upon entering from the parking area entrance, the cleanliness and order of the hotel is very evident. All the stuff welcomed us with smiles. Joe, who was manning the reception, was very friendly and offered some activities we may go to over the weekend. He offered some milk as well for our in-room coffee which is appreciated. The mini garden and the pool was a nice touch. He gave us a second floor, pool view room which is really awesome. The room itself was all neat and tidy. It's well furnished, and definitely a feeling of staying in a very good hotel. The bed was clean and very comfortable (You'll definitely get a good nice sleep). The bathroom was clean and well equipped, and most importantly, no bathtub to my liking. Oh did I mentioned free wifi, which is +++++. We definitely found our hotel in Canberra...

My wife and I spent 5 nights here before and after a wedding down the south coast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even gave us a complimentary room upgrade on our return. The location was excellent being quiet but close to places we had to visit (10 minutes to the airport, 5 minutes to Canberra Hospital, 10 minutes to Woden Plaza) and the German Club for a schnitzel and Stein!. The rooms were clean, comfortable and roomy. Would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Always clean and comfortable, staff friendly. We don't have breakfast very often on our stays; this time we found the buffet not as good as the previous times when the breakfast's were cooked individually. This a minor thing. We will continue to stay at this hotel whenever in Canberra.

As indicated in my previous reviews, I love this motel, and when I was told upon my arrival that I was being upgraded to the Executive Suite, it blew my mind. The room itself was great, and once more, the service was right on point. :-)

Nice place to stay, was arriving late, staff were very helpful in organizing for key collection outside of reception hours. Room clean tidy and very comfortable. Would be very happy to stay at this place again.

Stay for 2 nights. Welcomed at the desk with a smile. Given fresh milk and explained all the ins and outs of the hotel. Room standard queen bed. Very comfortable. Had dinner there first night and buffet breakfast next morning. Both were excellent. Used the underground carpark. Happy Hour with $4.00 on beer, wine or spirits (Selected). Large bowl of wrapped lollies and fresh fruits at the desk. Help yourself. All staff, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Clean and very happy with the whole hotel. Close to major roads. Excellent facilities and friendly staff. Appreciated upgrade as a returned visitor after a long road trip to get there. All in all, we had enjoyed our previous sojourn and this visit on our way further north was no different.

I needed to upgrade my room to accommodate for my girls staying with me, reception was most helpful and the new room was excellent for what we needed. The rooms are always neat and tidy. One day I will partake in the Breakfast.

Stayed here for business. Lovely staff, great service and breakfast was great. Room was great, good size, very comfortable. Appeared to be very clean until when looking for a PowerPoint I looked between the bed and bedside table and there was a condom there.

The service from the staff at Best Western was outstanding. Complimentary late check out and constant excellent management. Staff were friendly and helpful in suggesting places to eat and go, assisted me with any request, will be staying again in January.

Stayed two nights and enjoyed it so much we came back for another before we flew home. Room was spacious and well furnished. Housekeeping kept it immaculate. All staff were friendly and helpful, especially enjoyed interaction with restaurant staff, they were lovely. Great facilities. Easy to get to from the airport and only a 10 minute drive to the city.

Clean and comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. the breakfast was either continental or you could opt for the cooked, both were a great start to the day. Shower was hot, and the internet was complimentary .

A very comfortable hotel. Not new but well maintained and with a very helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Dinner menu is good as was the food. Enjoyed happy hour. Hotel was quiet and well located to get into the main tourist areas of the city within 10 minutes.

I arrived in Canberra earlier than the 2pm check in with my kids in tow. The nice receptionist said there was a room available for us to check in at 12. Check in was a breeze and we were offered sachets of hot chocolate and cartons of milk. My daughter was ecstatic! We found the TV wasn't turning on so the receptionist came upstairs and found it was the wrong remote. She quickly located the correct one in the next room! The pool was resort like and the kids had fun jumping off the rocks. The beds were comfortable and we found there was more than enough tea, coffee etc provided. Thick curtains shielded out any traffic noise. The buffet breakfast had numerous choices and everything was quickly replenished. The staff were lovely and said good morning and we're happy to chat. Checkout was a breeze and we were on our way.

The staff went out of their way to help. Meals and food were very nice, facilities are clean and tidy, would stay again in a heartbeat. Friendly smiles when asked questions, and always offered to help for taxis or questions from non-locals. Highly recommended.

It's difficult to objectively rate something when you can't think of anything to complain about. Staff was professional, helpful and friendly, room was clean and well presented, food and service at the restaurant was great. House wine was excellent. Priced very reasonably. I would recommend without hesitation.

The place was clean and staff very friendly. Parking could be a problem if you get vey late in the night. Had a good 3 day stay but bit on the expensive side. No microwave so had to eat food outside all meals. Room ok but toilet very very small even smaller than a ships toilet.

Nothing much to write about. Was clean, quiet, basic amenities were provided and check in was smooth. Have stayed in better best western establishments but I can't say I expected much more. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Enjoyable stay overall. Only drawback was the location. Its pretty far from the city area so it might not be so convenient without a car. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for comfortable accommodation in Canberra

We cannot recommend this hotel, firstly if you do not have a car it is a long way away from everything. Secondly, the staff, particularly those serving at breakfast haven't a clue how to treat guests. On our first morning at breakfast we were sat down and given the menu then nobody came to take our order we approached a waiter who said he would get someone. The waitress, who incidentally was the person who asked our room number and then sat us down, gave my husband a filthy look and came over and asked who had sat us down!! When we said well actually it was you she agreed she had and took our order. On our second morning at breakfast, the same waitress, commented that we must have had a heavy night as we were later down to breakfast!!!! The cheesecake we were served for dessert had to be sent back as it was stale. If we were ever to visit Canberra again we would not stay at this hotel.

Our group of 30 people and 30 Harley Davidson was well looked after by the hotel staff full credit to Joe the night manager who kept the bar open to accommodate us , fantastic man he went out of his way to keep everybody happy and would recommend the hotel to anybody

Quiet location only a few minutes drive from airport, Manuka and the city. Rooms are spacious, reasonably modern and clean. Very good TV. Room service food was good, hot and delivered in a reasonable time. All service was friendly and helpful. WiFi good but not great (a little slow by modern standards).

I have stayed previously at this hotel and will be quite pleased to do so again. Location is away from the main "city" area, but Canberra is dispersed and all is convenient by vehicular transport. Spacious room with good facilities, dining room has a pleasant outlook: only had continental breakfasts - usual with fresh fruit. Staff helpful. No complaints from me. .

Pros: The included cooked to order hot breakfast that came with the already included buffet continental breakfast in the room deal. Cons: None Great hotel, friendly staff, had a great sleep in the comfy bed.

I have stayed here a few times with work. Reasonable value for the price with moderate sized clean rooms with good bedding etc plus friendly helpful staff that does make a difference. I am a cursed with being a light sleeper and so I am very sensitive to noise. My only criticism from last couple of visits is noise leaking through the walls between the rooms. Despite the solid wall construction you can hear people talking in the adjacent rooms plus all the bathroom running water, flushing toilets etc. If someone was staying up late watching TV you would be in trouble in the adjacent room. maybe management could look at putting some sound absorbing panels on the wall directly behind the TV and also a roller strip on the room door to close the under door gap into the corridor because people walking past and talking also leaks into the room easily? if you sleep easy then hotel is good but if a light sleeper then dont forget your earplugs regards david

Very friendly staff on check in and all during our stay. Was upgraded to an Executive Room which was a very pleasant surprise. Nicely presented, very clean and fresh looking. Enjoyed our breakfast, included in the tariff and the one night we ate in the Dining Room, a good selection provided. Is a little out from the CBD so best for someone arriving with a car. Plenty of free parking onsite. Free Wi Fi always appreciated by us.

I stayed at this hotel for one night and was very pleased with the quality of the room. Super comfortable bed, Fantastic water pressure in the shower(Very important IMO). Very friendly staff at check in. Good location. Short driving distance to all the major sights, plus the eating/shopping hub of Manuka(Although the property does have an impressive looking bar/resturant if you want to stay in. Also short drive to the outlet mall if that takes your fancy. All in all I would highly recommend!

Check in was great. Hotel clerk was so helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms were well appointed, full mini-bar, clean beds, slightly older bathroom. The hotel is close to all of the major attractions in Canberra. I would definitely stay again. Good value for the money.

Great hotel located in the quieter part of Canberra but still within a short driving distance to shopping centers and restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff eager to please with suggestions as to where to shop and eat out.

It is an excellent hotel in a great location for accessing all the sights of Canberra without being in the middle of the city. The staff were prompt, courteous and very helpful with any request I had.

Good reliable hotel and a convenient quiet place. I have found that being out in Narrabundah makes it easy to get to anywhere in Canberra I have needed to go. The is a restaurant on site but it was closed on the Sunday night that I arrived, the Golf Club across the road was recommended and that was a good choice, I usually go to Manuka for breakfast and that is easy traveling. The staff were friendly on both days and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Free on site parking, which was nice after Sydney, and free wifi.

A very clean comfortable motel with free parking. The staff were helpful except for one person who would not book our next motel onwards to Sydney. It was quiet with a good bed friendly staff, The location was convenient for other restaurants, although there was a good restaurant in the motel.

Offers in house movies and cable tv - yes. Not just fox sports but TV shows and movies. Beds firm and comfortable. Toiletries - yes and great quality. linens clean and soft. Room well stocked and spacious enough. Good size TV & Kettle. Soft toilet paper- yes it counts. Beautifully quiet and still close to Golf club, German club. Staff friendly and professional. Now the STAR! The Food is delectable and enough sauce that MANU would be jealous. The entrée Garlic prawns was well sauced, very hot (awesome!) and tasty and did I say creamy but don't panic it is not overly rich but heavenly silky. Hubby had Chicken Tagliatelle again sauced well, silky and delicious, also very hot which was awesome. My compliments to the Chef/cook. Staff all round work above and beyond. Will return and highly recommend.. Pool and garden looked awesome.

The hotel claims a 4 and a half star rating ! The room that I had for an overnight stay - was ordinary. The towels, bedding and the room did not reflect the claimed rating. The ambience of the hotel felt like a hospital including the ordinary breakfast.

A well presented and functional hotel but not immediately close [ walking distance ] to other facilities. By car only 10mins to Kingston & Manuka - shops restaurants and 15 to Old Parliment House / National Gallery. Room service meals are average+ and the staff are very accommodating.

Had a peaceful and quiet time and enjoyed the stay and the flowers in the show in the city and a very very relaxing sleep...and my daughter and her father watch the grand final and playing cowboy riding the horsey ....and still we sleep peacefully...

We arrived late, and found the room to be very warm. Tried cooling down with the aircon, but the unit was not working. We also thought the staff to be a little abrupt, as we were wanting to pay our account with cash and they would not accept cash. Will not be staying here again.

Very happy with hotel. Room was recently renovated and very clean-a big plus in my books. Staff were all extremely friendly and pleasant. Would definitely stay here again. You do need a car as the hotel is not near Canberra city.

It's a nice and clean hotel. I have booked two rooms for long weekend stay in October. Good rate with buffet breakfast. The only issue is that the housekeeping staff did not provide enough towels on the 2nd day (no hand towels or face towels at all after collected from the bathrooms). We have to ring up the reception but she was too busy to bring them up so I have to go down to get them myself.

Everything was clean. Location would require you to have a car to get to [as didn't appear to be within walking distance of anything] - but easily accessible otherwise. Staff friendly. TV reception good. Air con worked well. All in all great stay!!!! I would recommend to others.

We know that we can rely on getting good service at a reasonable price at the Garden City Hotel. For us this place is nicely placed between the airport and family. The bed is very comfortable which is most welcomed after a long late night flight.

Nice Quite Location yet close enough to Canberra City Area , Excellent Service, Clean and Comfortable and I must recommend the Restaurant ,,,went there for our first evening meal enjoyed it so much we went again on our second night ,,great quality and variety .

we always stay here when visiting family in Canberra. The rooms are lovely, very comfortable bed and tub chairs and everything you could want. Restaurant and bar are good. It is a really easy drive into Canberra CBD and as we often stay on weekends, it is nice that we are always remembered by Raylene, who looks after us so well. These are the things that make you return - cheerful staff who rememeber you, comfortable rooms, good restaurant and bar, and easy to access Manuka, Kingston and the CBD

Short trip to Canberra only stayed one night. Very nice hotel. Rooms were good size for family of 3. Hotel surroundings and rooms very clean. Our daughter loved the pool especially on as the day was warm. Only short drive Canberra CBD and and Canberra attractions. Looking at staying again in Jan.

We booked a last minute room at the Best Western in Narrabundah, price was very expensive for a last minute booking as Canberra was booked out for Floriade this long weekend but looking at the reviews and its 4star rating I decided to go ahead as we needed a place to stay & it presented well on the booking site. On arrival I experienced poor service, had to wait to be checked in as there was only one person on the desk, we got to our room & found it was the size of a matchbox! Couldn't fit two people in the bathroom, the sheets on the bed appeared dirty in places, the room was tidy & modern but the bathroom was showing signs of age with tiles broken.... There were not enough car spaces & had to resort to parking in the staff parking area. Breakfast was over priced for the basic buffet & you would think for $297 a night for only two people it would have been included! Feeling extremely ripped off, will NOT be recommending to anyone!
