« Nice out of town quiet hotel »

This hotel is an easy drive into Cambridge. Set in its own grounds , with good walks nearby. Nice restaurant , clean and compact rooms. Our room was detached from the main house so we weren't disturbed by the wedding party that night. Friendly staff and would go back again.

    « Anniversary stay »

Me and my partner stayed in a superior double room and it was fantastic! The oldy worldy room was perfect with the 4 poster bed and decor. Dinner was great and breakfast was very good aswell. Over all a fantastic stay and one of the best hotel experiences we have had in the uk. Very close to Cambridge city centre with great bars to go out for a drink. Well recommended

    « Harvester with rooms »

The best thing I can say about this hotel is that they let me leave. It has all the character, charm and luxury of a harvester restaurant and how they think that £200 is reasonable to stay in a shed is beyond me. The staff were very nice and well trained and I was allowed to leave without paying. For that I'm grateful, the lady at the front desk particularly was kind and helpful but the owners need to seriously look at what they are doing here, this is not a £200 per night hotel, it's more like a travel lodge or premier inn £70 would be about right for the room we had.

    « Nice but overpriced! »

Stayed here for one night to attend a wedding. Our room was lovely overlooking the mill. A bit on the small side but immaculately clean. Pillows were a bit hard for my liking but that's just personal preference. We didn't use any of the spa facilities but it did look nice. Don't really have any complaints about the hotel but it was slightly overpriced. We got a preferential rate being part of a wedding party but standard room rate is far too much for the quality of hotel.

    « Would not recommend »

We stayed at the hotel last night whilst visiting our son. We stayed in the main part of the hotel - room extremely dated. Furniture scratched, old and tatty. Paint pealing in bathroom which was like going back in time 50 years. Room cold as heaters not working - had to wear dressing gown in bed to keep warm. Room noisy all night. Room definitely not worth superior grading. Have stayed in more comfortable travel lodges. Check in efficient and receptionist polite and helpful. Plenty of car parking and easy access to Cambridge. Opted to eat in restaurants so cannot comment about dining.

« A lovely hotel on the edge of Cambridge »

I've stayed here a few times and it never fails to impress. Over the last few years it's been done up and the facilities are now first rate. The rooms are bright, fresh and comfortable and the gym is first rate. If you're driving, it's about 3-4 miles into Cambridge and the hotel isn't very practicable on public transport. That said, even though the A14 runs past the grounds, the hotel feels remarkably rural and secluded. The restaurant is first rate.

« Over priced and over rated »

We booked this hotel on line to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we went for one of the four poster bedrooms. The staff at reception were exceptional, booked in with the minimum of fuss even though we had arrived at 1215hrs. The room was the first disappointment not what I would call four star, both electric heaters failed to heat up. To be faire though the receptionist had a replacement in the room within five minutes. That evening we had a meal in the restaurant, food and wine excellent but expensive, the ambience of the room was marred by the stack of used plates and cutlery on the side table. Why they are not taken through to the kitchen I do not know. Another evening we had a snack in the bar and again the bar was covered in used plates etc, not what I would call four star. Recommend getting a taxi into Cambridge as parking is difficult and expensive - taxi one way about £12

    « Lovely Place »

We stayed at the Quy Mill to attend a "significant birthday" celebration of an old friend who lives nearby. Arriving the day before the party we received a very warm welcome from the reception staff and were checked into our comfortable room. We had drinks and dinner in the bar that evening which was a delightful experience. Service was top notch but inobtrusive and the food lovely Next evening the party was a splendid affair. The hot buffet was very tasty Throughout our stay the staff were all most helpful and pleasant We recommend this hotel and will stay again if we are in the area

« Started off great until bed time »

As always I like to start with the positives. Arrived and had coffee in the bar which was relaxing. Had a nice walk into the village and had lunch and walked back. We then went to the spa which was cleaned and had some friendly staff. All great so far. Dinner was in the restaurant and other than some noisy diners and a bit over priced it was amazing. Big shout out to Andrew. What a guy. We hit the sack about 10.30pm room 302. Unfortunately they lost two stars from us. It was the out houses and people were in and out throughout most of the night. We were right next to the main door and hearing it open and close made the stay not at all pleasant. I understand it was a cheaper room but it should still be set for purpose and this was not. Don't get me wrong it was clean and comfortable. However it was dark and noisy. Such a waste. Back to positives. Staff were friendly and overall was amazing. Breakfast was full and we were placed in the bar area. Not a big problem except the TV was loud and we had to turn it down to have a peaceful breakfast. Check out was quick and everything we felt was fine. Just the room and location was the only negative. Sorry

    « Anniversary »

We had a 2 night stay to celebrate our anniversary and visit my daughter in Cambridge. This beautifully appointed hotel is set in peaceful surroundings. Lovely clean spacious room, excellent food. The staff were polite, helpful and made us feel very welcome. No appointments available for spa treatments but that was my fault for not pre-booking! Pool and sauna great. We will definitely return!

    « Luxurious hotel »

This was a flying visit after a very long couple of days so I booked a spa bath room. This was very much appreciated as it was lovely to relax in that evening. The restaurant menu looked a little fancy so we had some food off the bar menu which was very pleasant. The bar staff were very helpful and the receptionist on arrival and departure was very charming.

    « Family Wedding Occasion »

The staff at this hotel could not have done more to make my daughter's wedding a very special occasion. They were welcoming and extremely helpful from the very beginning to the end of the whole event. Although the hotel must hold many such occasions the staff, from the receptionist to the manager, were at pains to ensure that she felt unique. The finishing touches were very thoughtful: it was impressive and a real pleasure to watch the meals presented in style by waiters and waitresses, smartly dressed with white gloves, on ?synchronized' plates that were all set down on the same table at the same time. The staff worked so well as a team that you really felt they wanted you to enjoy every minute and they made sure any requests were dealt with as promptly as possible. The venue leant itself very well to all a wedding's requirements ? wedding service, meals, photographs and location. Our room was extremely comfortable, clean and functional and we found the bar meals excellent ? I particularly liked their bread rolls in tins. There was a good choice for breakfast too, so in all we enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend the Quy Hotel.

« Very nice hotel, but not cheap »

Overall the hotel and food was very good, clean and tidy with very helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is set in some very nice countryside, and has very pleasant grounds. But compared to other comparable hotels the bar and food prices were higher than expected.

    « Work trip »

Stayed at the Quy Mill & Spa Cambridge in October 2016. Found the rooms comfortable and clean. The wardrobe space is limited as in my room a rather small freestanding wardrobe was provided. Wifi is provided throughout the hotel but the signal strength depended on the room you occupy. Food in the restaurant is of a high standard I had the beef pie very nice. Generally a high standard of accommodation my only moan would be the varied wifi signal also when I switched on the tv to get a news update after being out the signal was lost for the evening.

« Not worth the money »

My room was in an outhouse - 303 and this meant I could clearly hear the movement of other guests going backwards and forwards outside my room. Therefore, an alarm call proved suplurfuous. 2) the TV signal failed at 10:28 and did not come back on until the morning. I reported it to be told it was being looked into - no apology and i had to mention it on check out 3) The bed lights did not work. They were sorted out while I was at breakfast but the light over the mirror in the main room remained broken. 4) i paid £190 for this and when i raised the issue on check out i got a grudging apology but no offer even to take a penny off what is an extraordinary amount to pay for such a mediocre experience.

    « Funeral Wake »

Attended Wake for a dear friend. Beautiful hotel with excellent facilities and the staff were all so kind and helpful. They were extremely considerate and attentive. The room was well laid out and the buffet was wonderful. All food was very fresh and delicious.

    « Wonderful »

What a fantastic hotel. Ideally suited for shopping and sightseeing in Cambs. Wonderful food coupled with gorgeous rooms. The food was top class, as was the sumptuous breakfast. Just had a bar snack and wow what a gourmet burger.

    « Very nice stay »

Just returned from a night at the Quy Mill Hotel!. A very nice property and also the spa treatments were very good and a reasonable price. The room was clean comfortable and had all the usual facilities. Lovely view of the river! Dinner was a very high standard and the bar was a nice setting! Steak sticky toffee pud and a few cocktails lovely way to spend an evening with my wife! Breckfast included in the price and this was very nice. Full English cooked to perfection. Would return to this hotel in a heartbeat! Thankyou for a great stay!!!

    « A pleasant surprise! »

We stayed at the Quy Mill Hotel & Spa as a base for the Newmarket racecourse in October 2016. It was perfect for this combining a quiet retreat with access to the racecourse within 15 minutes by car/taxi. The cost of the taxi each way was £25. The cleanliness, quality and general finish of the hotel was high and certainly better than we would have expected for a Best Western Hotel. We have stayed in many and this is one at the top end of the list - hence the Premier Collection title. We were delighted with our room which was large with a double bed, separate seating area, flat screen TV, coffee and tea facilities and a large bathroom with shower over bath. The bath itself was a spa bath but it either wasn't working or we didn't have the sense to make it work. The shower was hot and the water pressure was good. We didn't eat in the restaurant other than for breakfast which was a combined self service and cooked food ordered from the waitresses. The service and friendliness of the staff was excellent and the food was fresh, hot and delicious. The general set-up of the hotel is a little quirky in that the room we stayed in was in an outhouse (converted barn?) and the walls were very thin when the elephant family returned in the evening / TV could be heard through the walls etc but that would be the only slight on the night spent there. If you plan to go to the races and are looking for a quality hotel within a reasonable travel distance then this hotel is highly recommended.

    « Best breakfast ever !! »

Beautiful location and admosphere.. Not convenient to reach the city centre of Cambridge, taxi would be mandatory at a fare of 20 pounds one way. If you like the somewhat traditional country stile: Perfect ! Room very comfortabel, 1 minus: No mini bar in the room, but all rest is good. Swimming pool, spa available. Now the top appraisals: the staff: very friendly & personal. I stayed here for 3 nights, the first evening before dinner I took a drink, next day bar tender knew what my specific drink was. The food is lovely and price versus quality is awsome. But people: BREAKFAST here is just STUNNING and delicious, the best ever breakfast experience I have ever had. Over all a really pleasant stay, I would recommend this hotel for business, weddings, romance & pass throug. My 1 liner: Price versus quality is a big +

    « Good location »

Excellent for access to Cambridge, good quality overall. I keep going back each year on business, much better than some in the centre of the city. Food is reasonable and the overall feel of the place is relaxed and comfortable. Great to return to after a hard days work or shopping.

    « Quiet Countryside Hotel »

We decided on a 4 day break to explore Cambridge and having referred to Trip Advisor as usual we chose the Quy Mill Hotel.Upon arrival we met Helen on reception who was friendly knowledgeable and most importantly smiled!! This proved to be a common theme in the Hotel. All the staff are a credit to the owners. The room was spotless and spacious with an exceptional bathroom. Cambridge is a beautiful City with lots to keep you busy for 4 days.Breakfeast is well above average for a Best Western Hotel. We will return and advise our friends to visit.

« A Very Good Place to Stay for All »

This was the first time that I have stayed in a Best Western Hotel and picked Quy Mill as it was the nearest Hotel to the business venue I was attending, and I must say I was extremely pleased that I did. The Hotel staff are second to non in their appearance manner and helpfulness, and make you feel very welcomed The hotel has excellent facilities which are nicely laid out. My Hotel room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Don't just take my word for it but book and see for yourselves, I'm am sure that you will not be disappointed but pleasantly surprised as I was. I will certainly stay there again when I'm in the area

« Very disappointed!!!!! No email response.... »

Booked a spa package for three of us for £430!!! Arrived and the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful.....was told room not ready (fair enough) but was then left standing offer to take bags, didn't really say anything to us until finally I asked if we could leave bags and use the facilities to which I got a sharp 'yes' response.... not a great start! Went to the spa facilities and was asked to go upstairs and fill out consultation forms and someone would come to us.....we waited 40 minutes and still no one!!! So in the end I had to go searching!! We went to pool area and only a few loungers which were all in use as well as the hottub by groups of hens who wernt willing to share we were in there for 2 hours and still didn't have a bed or a turn in the hot tub!! Not great when you've paid all that money for a spa package!! We returned twice during our stay and it was the same....either hen parties or families!! When we got into our room I was hugely disappointed with the extra was tiny! Like a camp style bed very low, thin and much smaller then a standard double!!! And the room was too small to cater for why offer 3 man room??? Lunch I had previously booked a table and when we arrived we were taken to our table that already had guests seated on it....then taken to sit in the bar....then taken to another table but was not suitable (too small) once finally seated we were served food but then had to wait for cutlery so food cold by the time was rated and surrounded by tables with dirty plates etc on. We were in the restaurant for 1 hour 30 minutes and they still hadn't been cleared when we left! Finally on the Sunday wanted to use facilities again but again all beds taken by families....couples etc and we were told we couldn't have a robe as wasn't part of our package?!? £430 I would think it was!!! Was not relaxing experience and have sent email and been egnored! I feel I wasted my money!

    « Staff »

Both myself and my husband stayed at the Quy Mill Hotel a few months back we had stayed in the old barns outside in the 200s I believe... Our stay was pleasant however an unusual event took place in which myself and my husband were woken up around 4am by next door making quite abit of noise, at first we had thought someone must of checked in as there was noone in the room until this point... 15 mins went by and my husband was getting a little wound up so he went to check.. As he looked out the door a male and a female both left the room (one with his shirt untucked and the woman tucking in her blouse... and my husband had recognised them as employees of the hotel as the woman he saw had checked us in earlier... I do not expect that from such a fine establishment.. Especially from staff..

    « Reinvigorating experience »

My room was just amazing! I loved the bed, the jacuzzi in the room was great after spending only a couple of hours in the spa because of late arrival, so having that in my room was just perfect. The fields surrounding the hotel are perfect for a walk in the silence. Food at the bar was lovely and so the breakfast. I really enjoyed my stay and it's perfect if you want to visit Cambridge but resting and chilling at the same time.

« Made to feel very special »

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a weekend to celebrate her birthday. What a fabulous place it is. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere where every member of staff seems so happy to be working there and goes out of their way to make sure residents are happy too. Nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in a standard room for the first night (that was the only room available and the second night we upgraded to a superior room). The standard room was very modern and comfortable and well equipped. One thing I would say is our room was at the top of the hotel. Not a problem for us but could be difficult for the less mobile. The superior room was excellent. Very large and with a huge (queen size) bed - jacuzzi too. Well worth the additional cost. The gym is well equipped, although we didn't use it, and there's also a very good pool too - larger than I anticipated - perfect for a relaxing swim. We will certainly be visiting again and would like to thank all of the staff who made our stay very special - particularly Jessica who is an asset to this hotel.

6 of us stayed for a weekend (on our way racing at Newmarket). Some good some bad experience. Rooms on the 4th floor are not for anyone over 6ft tall as there are beams to stove your skull in and they could not accommodate us with changes. Rooms were good and clean. Bathrooms modern and functional. Real big issue was dining. Dinner when we arrived was, to say the least, a bag experience. Put in a too small room for us 6 because of other functions meant that we were forgotten and therefore service was terrible. Head waiter who served us was not very helpful nor welcoming. Menu was very limited and some food was not very exciting at all. We left lots on the plate. It was not cheap either for what we had. Now to breakfast. Again, service was terrible. Waited too long to be asked for our cooked preferences and struggled to get little things like more butter. Buffet was very weak indeed and was not regularly topped and you had to encourage staff into action. There were not enough staff for all the guests present and it showed. Two issues impacted these bad dining experiences, Firstly, the layout of the dining facilities. Many mini rooms that requires staff to serve areas to which they had no visibility. Secondly, when they had big functions like weddings, sets of guest occupied individual dining rooms and again others were 'left behind'. Needs sorting urgently.

    « Nice but Noisy »

Booked in for a two night leisure stay with my daughter. Room was clean and comfortable but was unfortunately positioned right next to an exterior door for the area of the hotel we were staying in. This meant that throughout the evening, and early morning, the door was slammed as other guests came and went. Our room was also adjacent to a room with some form of jacuzzi spa bath. This was started up at 6am giving a loud droning noise right next to our room. I called the duty manager and the noise stopped only to start up again at 7am and continue on for 40 minutes. It finally went off again just after 8am! So much for a relaxing leisure stay. We stayed on a room only basis, so cannot comment on breakfast, however, we did eat in the bar one night, just had a burger, which is pretty expensive for what it is. The food was fairly average. We also made use of the spa for a treatment each, that was a lovely treat we both enjoyed.

    « Birthday tea treat »

7 family members came to this birthday treat for my Mother -in -law. We had decided to all have an "Afternoon Tea" which seemed simple until various family members wanted to tinker with the sandwich fillings !So we e-mailed ahead with our choices to make it easier for the kitchen staff and to speed up the food order. This worked perfectly. I had a "Gentleman's Afternoon Tea" which was predominantly savoury and very nice for a change. Service was attentive at the table and warm at Reception when we arrived. The restaurant room can open onto the hotel gardens which meant we could nip out for fresh air on a warm day. All in all we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

« Great location, comfy beds but bar slow! »

Pros; Comfy bed :) Location :) Great food :) Spa :) Cons: Wait at the bar was very long lots of stairs to nice rooms We seemed to arrive at the same time as a large coach load of older people who queued at the bar and meant it took us 40 minutes to order food. It was a complete nightmare and nobody seemed to know what was going on. Once we finally got the food it was very nice! I wanted to make the most of the spa features but as we arrived late I didn't get much change so I just popped in for a quick sauna. The bed was very comfortable; I had a room right at the top of the building as I asked for a quiet room. The accessibility rooms are outside and are twin rooms so not as nice but the person I was travelling with had a lot of luggage so didn't really have any other option. I would absolutely stay here again if I was travelling in Cambridge but I hope to be able to make better use of all the spa facilities.

    « Looks great »

The room was lovely, the swimming pool was great. The food was average the service in the bar left a lot to be desired. We ordered pie, chips and peas and got mash. Waiter said he would go and gets a portion of chips...20 minutes later we were still waiting . The price of drinks was as expected......expensive! Breakfast was rubbish. Undercooked sausages, cold bacon, cold tomato, scrambled eggs looked less than appetising. No sugar for the cereals, the waitress brought out castor sugar as that was all she could find!!

    « Excellent Rooms & Wedding Venue »

We stayed at Quy Mill for my brother in laws wedding. We had a fantastic time and would thoroughly recommend Quy Mill. We stayed in one of the barns; block 2 in room 209 which is a lovely modern family room with a large double bed and a double sofa bed for our two small children. The rooms were clean and modern as were the bathrooms. Two minor criticisms of the rooms were the lack of air conditioning (although there is a ceiling fan) and there is nowhere to put your suitcase. Check was a little slow and delayed, my wife called up a couple of days prior to arrival to request early check-in as my wife was the maid of honour and our two children were flower girls. The wedding started at 2pm and check in was 2pm therefor we needed our room early to be able to get ready for the wedding but upon arrival they had no record of the request. That said they managed to have our room ready by 1 pm which gave us just enough time to get ready. The wedding food was good but not excellent but they were catering for a large wedding and a large conference in another room. Breakfast was average at best. The pool, sauna, steam room and gym were all excellent and are definitely worth a visit. All of the staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. We would definitely recommend the Western Quy Mill as a wedding venue or if you are visiting Cambridge or the surrounding area. I would like to thank you to all of the staff for hosting such a fantastic family wedding and I know that all the guests felt the same.

    « Great value! »

Needed a hotel near Cambridge and chose Quy Mill. It was a lovely old Mill House with comfortable rooms and a wonderful restaurant and setting. Great value! Highly recommend. Would come back again for business and pleasure. Wish I had time to use the spa.

    « Lovely Weekend »

We stayed at the Quy Hotel as part of a wedding group. The wedding was held in the hotel and most of the guests also stayed. It was a fantastic time. The hotel is just outside Cambridge in the countryside and is nicely designed in a rustic, country style but with all mod cons. The main brick built building houses some of the rooms. the remaining room and spa are housed in buildings designed to look like old barns. We stayed in a executive double in one of the 'barns' and the feel and comfort levels are just right. Lovely sized room with room to move around, comfy bed, excellent bathroom and shower. The rest of the hotel facilities were of equally high standards of comfort and cleanliness. The bar and garden rooms were lovely and bright with big windows looking out onto the beautiful grounds. The room where the wedding ceremony was held has been built around the original large mill wheel, which can be seen through a window designed to give a great view of the wheel and original water course. Service levels were excellent with all staff friendly and efficient. The only critique I have, and it is a small one, is that the standard of the food didn't reach the standard of the rest of the hotel. It wasn't bad, in fact it was quite good, but the rest of the hotel is of a high standard and the food didn't quite hit this level. All in all it was a lovely weekend, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be back at some point and will happily recommend the Quy Mill Hotel & Spa to anyone who wants a really good, sensibly priced hotel to stay in if visiting Cambridge.

    « Not very bad »

We stayed in the hotel for visiting Cambridge. It was not very bad. Beautiful area around the hotel. I liked swimming pool, steamroom. It was very hot in room. It wasn't airconditioner, the windows did not open well. We could not sleep night. The next day, the reception changed our room. The new room was in the main building. And we had the air conditioning nice view on a small river. But the room was small for two. In the dining room at breakfast were problems. We waited for the waiter to make an order for 30 minutes. The hotel has a good potential for entertaining outdoors. A great design around.

« Nice meeting room shame about the food »

This is a lovely location and the meeting room we had was the right size and went out onto a lovely terrace area. I wonder if they were having an off-day because the service was shockingly slow and the quality of the evening meal pretty bad. Throughout the day it took an age for any refreshments to arrive, drinks we ordered at the start of lunch took so long to arrive we had nearly finished eating by the time that were put onto the table ( there were only half a dozen of us). We stayed for the evening meal and for me this was the worst part of the day. It was expensive and mediocre, I ordered beef at £30 and when it arrived on a soggy white piece of bread with anaemic looking vegetables I should have sent it back, but having waited nearly 2 hours (this was interrupted briefly by the starter), I wasn't sure when I'd get a replacement. The staff need a little more urgency about them and maybe they were under staffed which would explain a lot. The food though needs a hard look at given the price. It was poor.

    « Wedding weekend »

Visited as part of my sons wedding weekend. Lovely hotel, the staff are very polite & accommodating. The food was good & the whole weekend was superb. The swimming pool was well used by lots of our party. However I feel there are a couple of issues that can be improved. Our room 31 has almost non existent wifi, we were not able to connect on either iPads or iPhones & when we could, it was so slow. Whilst the staff at the bar were polite & helpful, they didn't seem to be able to make the cocktails that were available. No mint for mojitos & served a Long Island iced tea in a pint glass half full, after asking for some more coke as it was too strong. As these were not cheap drinks, there should have been the ingredients & the staff know how, to make them & present them. Lovely breakfast, cooked beautifully & fresh ingredients. All in all a fabulous weekend.

    « A Great Spa Break. »

Stayed here after attending Newmarket Summer Nights ( Little Mix). It is close enough that we took a taxi to and from Newmarket. The spa day was the following day. The pool was large and my little Grandson enjoyed it very much. The treatments were amazing and all staff were very professional. We stayed 2 nights. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. We would stay here again if in the area.

« Evening dining could be improved »

Although this Hotel is very pleasant and busy with guests, I think that the dining room arrangements/menus could be improved. We spent two consecutive evenings in the dining room, the Friday evening (of course this was new to us) we chose from the menu avoiding things we did not like, and the supplementary charges.... This went well. On the second evening from the same menu, this would be tiresome if you were staying at this hotel more than two nights, as you would be running out of trying new meals therefore avoiding any supplementary charges.... By the way, the 'sample menu' in the information folder in the Hotel Room does not indicate or suggest in any way to the guests that some of the meals advertised (on that sample menu) would have a 'supplementary charge'. Also a important factor to the Hotel guests, always check your final settling up bill as ours had an extra £11.00 added to it. It was refunded and apologies made for the 'finger errors' whilst typing this onto the guests bill. Therefore it seems that the correct guest for this extra £11 payment must have got away with this charge. Also the dining slip that the guests have to sign for any extras, include 'gratituties' but looking at the hotel final bill - it is down in both cases as 'Bar Drink Order and a number added (which is the same number as if you (in this case) added any drinks to your dining order, . Let us hope that the people who should get the gratituties actually get them???? The reception staff were always polite and should be, as they are in the front line of anyone making enquiries upon arrival/or later on. The room was very hot despite having a fan at the top of the ceiling, it was very unfortunate that the roof of the building would have had the sun beaming down on it allday. Was informed by reception that the rooms will have air-conditioning units in due course.

    « Lovely hotel »

Stayed here at beginning of June as we were visiting friends in Cambridge. Really lovely hotel with beautiful decor and friendly staff. Our room was not huge but was very comfortable with a fresh clean bathroom. Only letdown was breakfast. We had booked a room only deal so added breakfast as an extra on arrival as there didn't appear to be anywhere else close by. However breakfast was quite disappointing. We came down just after 9am and had to stand for a few minutes to be seated as the staff were busy chatting. Given a cramped table in a corner not very handy for the cold buffet which was desperately needing replenished. Eggs were missed off my husbands plate and while they were replaced quite quickly, we both thought the breakfast could have been much better. As we were leaving the cold buffet still hadn't been replenished!! We would stay again if we are in the area but would just stick with room only next time

    « Afternoon tea »

Thank you so much for a great afternoon tea for my disabled daughter. We really enjoyed our afternoon in lovely surroundings. I am looking forward to come back and try lunch . Good parking and friendly staff . I do have one comment for the afternoon tea menu. Please could you add in a lemon tart as there was quite a lot of cake products which were very tasty but it would have been nice to have some tangy tarts .

    « Fabulous Girls Weekend »

Six of us ladies stayed at the Quy Mill to celebrate a friends 50th Birthday. We booked the Hen weekend package, which included Full breakfast, 3 course Dinner, cocktails on arrival, spa treatment with bubbly and chocolates, full use of health club and swimming pool. We paid £10 per head to upgrade our rooms, for which I think we got the benefit of air con. The staff were very welcoming, and it felt like nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is based in a lovely setting, and easy to get to, a stones throw from the A14. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and plan to visit again.

« Staff went out of there way to make our stay enjoyable. »

We stayed the weekend just gone and had a very enjoyable time. It was my partners birthday and having the spa facilities onsite was a big plus for us. We stayed in an Executive Room 207 in the outer barn area. When we checked in the reception staff were great informing us of where everything was. On arrival to the room we found it had been decorated and also a card put in for my partner which was a great little touch. There was a wedding happening but this didn't effect our stay. We had a drink in the bar area before going through to dinner and the meal was of a very high standard. Breakfast the following morning was just as good with a wide variety of foods. Getting to use the facilities after checkout was an added bonus for us too as we assumed once we checked out we wouldn't be able to use them but reception mentioned we can stay there all day if we liked. Looking at other reviews I can agree our room was warm but having stayed at other hotels in the UK I can't recall many of them having air-con. The room had a celling fan and also a fan in the wardrobe. Overall we had a lovely stay and the staff went out of there way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We would definitely recommend to others and will be returning ourselves very soon.

« Will not be returning »

My sister and I thought it be a nice treat to have afternoon tea at Quy mill, but O dear what a mistake, after seating us, they took our order,I requested no mustard on my ham sandwich simple request I thought, but no they came with it on, we both asked for fruit scones one fruit one cheese appeared they did change it promptly when pointed out the mistake but they were so hard they were practically inedible, cakes were also very dry unfortunately not very nice at all, then to top it of when we went to pay it was £1.50 more than the price we thought we booked it at,and when I pointed this out was told that the price changed 2 months ago and their website has not been updated not worth the £17.50 price tag .

« Great base for exploring »

We spent two nights here recently. My husband and I had a room within the main building and my father and 14yo nephew in the "converted stables" as there's no lift in the main building. Nice rooms. Couple of issues with the shower and water pressure...but we were on the top floor. Didn't have time to use the Spa as two days to visit Ely, Newmarket and Cambridge. Bar meals good ...lovely to sit outside in the grounds. OK, noise from road, but convenient to get to the hotel as just off road! The Staff are wonderful! Smiling, chatty and friendly. They make this place and deserve to be recognised.

« Not on my must return list! »

If you want a quiet retreat this is not it! Close to main road and under a flight path - overpriced converted mill with spa that is most suited to business and wedding events. Stayed in an executive room that was dark and boring with very sweet but undertrained staff. If I was a hotel inspector I would not give it the 4 star rating it holds.... Sorry....

« Would find an alternative! »

My room (No 5) was a 4 poster suite. The room was small for a suite. The shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold. We waited 40 minutes to receive our breakfast when later orders received theirs before us - Same Full English breakfast ordered. It was supposed to be a special occasion for myself and partner where we arranged a Couples one hour massage at 11am. This had to be reduced to 30 minutes because of the breakfast taking so long! I've stayed in BW hotels all over Europe and loved them. Unfortunately I had a bad experience at this one and won't be recommending the hotel to others.

    « Afternoon Tea »

Sunday 21/08/16, myself and 24 other friends went to Quy Mill for afternoon tea. Not just any tea but a tea to celebrate 4 of us arriving at the age of 60. The other special thing about it was that as we all work in retail we are only able to get together at the same time on a sunday evening. Quy Mill put on our afternoon tea at 6.30pm, this helped us to all be together at the same time. They did us very proud and would highly recommend going there for a special event. We were looked after by a young man named Josh and he was very attentive and everyone was very pleased with him.

    « Lovely birthday meal »

My husband and I stayed here on Saturday evening. We had a lovely stay and a fantastic meal at the restaurant. We both had the fillet steak and it was fabulous. Breakfast was equally as tasty in the morning. If we are in Cambridge again we will defiantly be staying again.

    « Unbearably hot »

My husband took me away here for a romantic surprise. The hotel itself is nice, however we were put into room 205. This room has no air conditioning which we discovered as the room steadily increased in temperature throughout the night. The ceiling fan is ineffective and the windows are a little tricky to open all the way out. At 1am I tried to sleep on the bathroom floor. This room is hotter than the bedroom. I went to reception in despair and after waiting for 15 minutes to be acknowledged (there were plenty of staff working) I was told that a maintenance person would come and fix the aircon, but on realising that there was no aircon I was told that nothing could be done, even when I explained that I was going to have to sleep in the car. After a horrendous night in the back of the car we checked out. Despite being aware of the previous evenings complaint, the ladies at reception were dismissive and said that there was a fan in the room, but the person working the night before did not know this. I would have expected much better customer care from the staff and maybe some acknowledgement that sleeping in the car because of an unbearable temperature in the room is unacceptable. I appreciate that they do not mislead people about whether or not there is air conditioning, but they should notify guests on checking in that the room has a tendency to overheat and that there is a fan hidden in the cupboard, and instruct how to release the clips on the windows. I really can't believe how we were treated at reception. At nearly £200 per night this was very disappointing and we both came away feeling very upset.

    « Good as usual »

You can see that the hotel is former mill in the middle of nowhere. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is amazing and the rooms are nice with jacuzzi. The spa has a Turkish bath that makes you wish for possibility to wash the seats, the sauna is classically in swimsuits (oh God why?!?). The swimming pool is suitable for swimming and has a nice temperature. The area is very calm and you get there exclusively by car.

« Pleasant hotel with good range of facilities »

Had a mid week one night stay with my wife. The hotel is situated very near to a park and ride facility making it very easy to get into Cambridge centre without the hassle of driving. We arrived mid afternoon and were checked in efficiently. We had opted for a superior room which turned out to be a good choice as these are situated in the main building whereas other rooms are in annexes in the grounds. The room was spacious and had all the usual facilities plus a four poster bed which was superbly comfortable. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath which was very relaxing. We made use of the leisure facilities and headed first to the swimming pool. We had read that children were not allowed in the pool after 6pm which is useful as these facilities can get crowded and noisy and were surprised to see that this was however not being enforced. There is a nice jacuzzi, great steam room and a sauna albeit we found the temperature in this to be low. We opted for the bar lounge for dinner which turned out to be a good choice and the meals were very good. We retired to the lounge for liqueur coffees which were made to perfection. Breakfast was very good with a self service bar for cereals etc and a variety of optoons for main breakfast served at the table. Overall we felt meals and drinks were a little pricey but the quality was good. The hotel is near to the main highway so there wa a little traffic noise in the room - it didn't affect us but could be a nuisance to light sleepers. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and would use the hotel again.

« Super Spa Hen Weekend!!!! »

We arrived to find a wedding was being celebrated at the Hotel: but on the whole, this didn`t impact on our Spa Hen Weekend: Excellent Front of House Staff guided us to the Spa, and we were welcomed by a lovely Team at the Spa ready to pamper us. Helpful information all round, with Fizz and Chocs provided and lunch ordered whilst we proceeded to our treatments! The Therapists were very skilled and the facilities were clean and well looked after. Our rooms were excellent: super comfortable and spacious. Now, the only difficult and disappointing aspect was our pre-ordered evening meal ( included in the Spa Weekend package). The hotel dining area was really badly, understaffed on the Saturday evening: and despite sitting down in our own cosy room ( not a bad idea for 8 excited Hens!) the service was slow slow slow, and the food did not come up to scratch. The 3 course meals were all far to 'showy' and fiddly, and sadly, undercooked: we asked very nicely and very regularly about the progress of serving our food, and we were, frankly, fobbed off: so after sitting down at 1915hrs, we finally finished with coffee ( which we had to pay for? odd for a set menu I thought!) at gone 10pm. An honest discussion with the Duty Manager on Sunday morning was genuinely helpful, and their apologies were heartfelt. So, the food experience was disappointing, but nothing could stop us celebrating with our lovely Bride-to-be! Recommended for good fun and good service! Do ask though, if you book, about how busy the Hotel is....

« Close to meeting their aspiration but falling sort due..... » not paying attention to the detail. If you have read any of my previous reports you will know top of the list of my pet hates as a business traveller is poor wifi strength and poor food. Well the Quy scored high on both these. Wifi was fast and reliable which is crucial for the travelling salesman. And the food was tasty, well cooked and they provided an interesting and imaginative menu. I ordered room service which was prompt and polite. My only gripe with the restaurant service is with breakfast. For breakfast I ordered porridge to be follows by salmon and eggs. I requested that the porridge be made with skimmed milk to help manage my collestrol but only semi was available. No big deal but come on nor is having a bottle of skimmed milk in the fridge. The other gripe was that both the porridge and salmon arrived at the same time. Again perhaps a bit flippant to complain due to the present state of the world but.....if this hotel wants to meet its aspirations small details make the difference. Bedroom was great and bathroom had a very posh walk in shower. I was expecting to receive a spa type invigorating experience however the flow of water would have had difficulty filling a egg cup. Summary, good food, nice room but not a 5 star experience.

    « perfect break »

Stayed three nights an could not fault a thing. cleanliness, food, genuine friendly service was excellent the spa was a welcome bonus. Not a budget hotelbut was value for money. park and ride only 2 minutes away

    « Anniversary weekend »

Read a lot of reviews before staying here and if honest was quite concerned. However all concerns in our case were misplaced. Loved everything about our stay. Room really good even with lack of lift (we were top floor) only 3 floors. Was a wedding on at the night so only reason not given full marks is bar could have been better organised I. E suggest leaving 1 member of staff to attend to non wedding guests in future? Booked al a carte restaurant but we were quite happy in bar area so ate from bar menu. Excellent steak and chips. Breakfast really good. Seemed small (full English) but after toast and Danish pastries etc more than enough. Checked out of room and spent hour or so in pool and jacuzzi so very relaxed for drive back to Nottingham. All in all more than happy.

    « Mixed Bag »

Like other reviewers, we found this hotel to have a lot of positives, but they were almost outweighed by the negatives. The "executive" bedroom was reminiscent of a Premier Inn room, although less spacious. The bed was comfortable, but despite it not being a warm night and the fan on constantly, the room remained very hot. Dinner was extremely good - high quality food, attractively served. Breakfast would probably have been equally good, if anyone had been available to take our order. As it was, we gave up and just had the continental choice, which was fine. We used the gym, pool and had a treatment in the Spa, which is a definite bonus for this property.

« Looks good on the surface »

Staff seemed to be uninterested and trained insufficiently. Food came late, without cutlery ? then it took over 10 minutes for the cutlery to arrive, meanwhile the food was going cold. The staff didn't know what the house wines were, or the difference between the house salad and the Quy salad. Food came with missing ingredients, after enquiring about this, the missing ingredients were later bought out on a plate. The hotel room was baking hot, with only 2 fans (ceiling and take top) that were so loud, they had to turned off because I couldn't sleep and I had to be up at 5.30am for a work assignment. There was a damp/sewage smell coming form the hotel room bathroom and the hairdryer was broke, unending U had t leave for work with damp hair.

« Expected more for the price »

The main building and converted outer buildings look very pretty from the outside, but as the outer buildings are painted black, on a hot day/eveing unfortunately the colour draws the heat and although the bedrooms (which were beautiful in appearance), had a ceiling fan, it desperately needs air conditioning. The heat made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. The price we paid for an overnight stay, I really would have expected air conditioning. The breakfast, although was nicely presented, was sparse in quantity. We ventured into the spa area, which had not been cleaned from the day before. It has an adequate pool area, jaccuzi pool, steam room and sauna (which unfortunatley was not working during our stay) The positives were the beautiful setting and the staff were all polite and helpful and other than the lack of air conditioning, the rooms were pleasantly decorated and presented

« Good but not perfect »

Arrived at the weekend, easy to find with sat nav and away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Lovely drive down the lane to the hotel overlooking the fields, very romantic. Went to check in greeted by two lovely women who could not do more to help, a real asset. Directed to room immediately out of reception which seemed to be a barn conversion. Our room was the immediate one from the door thus every time someone went in and out of the building we heard it throughout the day and night and would vibrate the wall by our heads in bed. Room cosy and small could have been bigger for what was paid. We went to the spa for the day, went to initial gym reception to which two young men were on the desk. I understand they are young but not to make eye contact when a woman asks you the direction to the spa made me feel embarrassed as they were not interested and seemed more bothered that they had to work on a sunday. Finally made it to the spa, greeted by therapist and choose my treatment. I went to the far right room which had a glass ceiling so a relaxing facial with sunlight in my eyes was not blissful paired with the freezing aircon lets just say i say wont be returning. Food, AMAZING!!!!! if you're a foodie this place is for you from the room service, to al la carte in the restaurant to breakfast. Heaven.

« Many positives but some negatives »

We booked this hotel for a two night stay to be able to visit Cambridge. It was pretty handy for the Park and Ride facility at Milton which we used to get into Cambridge and we found this very satisfactory. Going down the long approach lane to the hotel you might think you are visiting a tranquil rural location. Nothing could be further from the truth as it's situated directly alongside the busy A14 which resounds with traffic throughout the night. You can shut out the noise by keeping your windows closed and putting on the air conditioning but we prefer to have the fresh air so put up with noise. We got a cheerful warm welcome from Brittany - nice - and were told our room was on the second floor. No lift but she offered to have our bags brought up - no need. Nice room and very comfortable bed with good lighting and modern bathroom. Downside of the spa facilities is that they are across the yard from the main hotel block and, after a long day, we just did not fancy going across there in the rain. We had our first evening meal in the restaurant and found the service on the slow side and the meal uninspiring. I had the Chef's Special which was sole which tasted a bit dry. I asked if I could have some sauce to spice it up - 'It doesn't come with it, Sir. I can get the chef to make some for you but it will take some time' - 'No thank you' . We actually enjoyed our meal more in the bar on the second evening although the service was slow there too. Overall though we were happy with our stay because the room was good.

« More "Corporate" than "Cosy"! »

This was one of those times when we should've known that getting a room in Cambridge during Graduation Season, would be near impossible. So, this was basically the only hotel with availability, that was not a ludicrous price! Admittedly, it is a good 15 minutes out of the town along very busy roads - allow longer if travelling at peak times, but given our plans, it did not make a huge difference. We enjoyed the pool, Jacuzzi and steam room after a tiring day following the beatific nephew around his haunts, and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room we did not enjoy so much - as soon as I walked in I felt I was in a business hotel and it was quite small with windows that opened only an inch and only a wobbly ceiling fan for comfort on a warm, summers night (should have read the room details on the confirmation!) Being close to the spa has the advantage of easy access, but inevitably also noise as through the night I was aware of machinery sounds. We did not opt for the breakfast and in hindsight this was mistake, as it actually represented good value if booked the night before. I have stayed in enough business hotels during my working life that, these days, I prefer something with a bit more character. But I feel I may be being a little unfair on this one as we were not roomed in the main hotel where perhaps you get the feeling of being in "The Old Mill". Next time I think I'd prefer to be in the town, keeping a safe distance from the boy's nocturnal activities, of course!

« Very Disappointing Afternoon Tea »

I have visited the hotel twice this weekend, for two afternoon tea's. One for a baby shower and one for my Father's birthday. I have used the spa at this hotel on many occasions and had a really good experience. The baby shower afternoon tea was good, service, attention, quality of food etc was all good. There was a wedding on the same day but this did not seem to impact on the service we had, overall a good experience, which was making me want to return the following day to celebrate my dear dad's birthday. How wrong I was... Having specifically researched where to go for afternoon tea in Cambridge, I found the menu at Quy Mill. It seemed to have a large menu which catered for a number of tastes. One of which was the 'Gentleman's Afternoon Tea'. This version offers pork pies, scotch eggs, chutneys and sausage rolls, with a glass of Ale. The boys of the party were happy, and the girls opted for the traditional with a glass of fizz. I booked a table two weeks in advance specifying our menu request for our party size of 5. I received excellent, prompt email responses from a staff member to clarify this had been agreed and also requested an outside table. We arrived promptly and waited to be greeted by someone to be shown our table. The staff member seemed a little bemused but checked his list and found my booking, with the pasted version of my email dialogue underneath, all good. As I thought this would make our ordering easier on the day. We were shown to our outside reserved table in a lovely setting in a more private part of the garden, perfect atmosphere for a sunny day. QM has lovely grounds. We waited a long 10 minutes on an unlaid table before I went back inside to ask for some service we so we could make our order and get some drinks for the hot day. Eventually a waitress come took our drinks order (which is part of the tea) we clarified our order again and the drinks arrived. We then waited a further 50 minutes before I decided to return inside again. I waited at the bar whilst another customer (also having an afternoon tea) was raising a concern about the delay in the orders arriving for her party. So joining the queue I then spoke with the duty manager and explained that we had pre-booked, had waited now 50 minutes, finished our drinks that are meant to be enjoyed with the food and I have had to come inside for a second time to find a member of staff. She apologised and went to find out what the delay was in the kitchen. She then returned to our table where we were told certain items in the gentleman afternoon tea were not available-despite the fact I had booked two weeks in advance. The "gents' were then allowed to pick an alternative item to double up on. Disappointing. Then continued another load of disappointment where the wrong orders came, there were delays in food arriving, several different members of staff attending to us, so there was little consistency. Crockery was not clean and just overall it really coloured the whole experience. It was also such a contrast to the service I had experienced the day before-despite the fact there was a wedding on. I spoke with the duty manager again listing the number of disappointments and negotiated a discount on the bill. Although this was the correct result at the end of such a disappointing afternoon, the experience of my dad's birthday was really effected by this. After speaking with the duty manager the difficulties they experienced were due to agency and short staffing, which as someone who works in healthcare can really relate to. However I wish that they had just cancelled our booking in advance if they are not able to cope with the number of bookings that afternoon as we could of gone elsewhere to enjoy his day.

    « overnight stop »

we stopped overnight but did not eat at night only had breakfast. The breakfast was nice but not very large for the 17.50 price in my opinion.Hotel was lovely in a quiet location with an on site spa.We used the pool ,steam and sauna which were good. Our room was very nice but had no air con which proved to be a problem at night on a very hot day.Needs air con ,roof fan and portable fan provided but just moved very warm air around.Staff very nice, hotel good but check room has air con because when we mentioned it staff said some had air con, only a prob possibly because time of year.

    « My plans were in safe hands . . . . »

A year in the planning for my partners 60th birthday surprise - Spitfire flight at Duxford (Classic Wings) and needed the hotel staff to help me pull it off - and was not disappointed. With the help of Helen (who contacted me within minutes of making the booking and was the main point of contact) and the rest of Reception / Jane (Deputy Hotel Manager) I could not have wished for it to go any better if I had been there myself (bit of a control freak as an Office Manager and have spreadsheets for everything!). I organised a box containing a bear (dressed in an old fashion flying jacket with helmet and goggles) which had the envelope containing the flight voucher / various room decorations and a banner oh, and a spreadsheet as to the weekend's itinerary to be sent a few days ahead of our stay. A birthday cake and balloon was sent direct. When we arrived, first impressions of the hotel were good and loved the quiet location. Our room had been decorated with the items I had sent down and nobody let slip on checking-in so a massive surprise for my other half. I'd asked for drinks to be left in ice - nothing was too much trouble. The second part of the surprise was at dinner where the bear / envelope was waiting on our table - the comment of ' don't we have one like that at home' and then not believing what he was going to do the following day was brilliant and I could not have pulled it off without their help - a VERY big thank you. The food was excellent at dinner and it was so nice to have breakfast cooked to order rather than running around trying to get everything before it goes cold. Nice continental selection - the staff were attentive without feeling that they were joining you for dinner, though slightly disappointed with breakfast on the second day as we came down a bit later and sat in the bar area - seemed to be no staff coming around checking to see if we needed more drinks or to remove used plates etc. We did get chance to use the spa facilities and appreciate that there is currently on-going refurbishment but, in general, was clean / staff helpful and nice to use the pool - I never have high expectations of spa's in hotels - I have been to Champneys / Hoar Cross Hall etc - for, what I feel, is a 'proper' a spa experience.

    « Visit in summer »

Very nice and cosy hotel in a former water Mill. Room is nice and modern. Very nice bathroom. Be careful at floor 4 beams are low for tall men! Just remarks: closed A14 is a bit noisy and water Mill could be refurbished

« Great hotel but spa service lets it down »

We stayed here for a family spa break to celebrate my sister's birthday. First thing to say is that the hotel is great but it is let down by the service in the spa (not the beauty therapists who were absolutely fine). Usually on arrival at spas you are offered tea/coffee. This was nowhere in evidence. The staff member who greeted us had obviously had little or no training and happily informed us, when showing us the pool area that 'this is all there is really'. Despite my having had extensive email and phone call correspondence with the spa manager about times for our six treatments he clearly had little information about this. Nor did he have information regarding our lunch package. Having asked us to choose food from the wrong menu, when it was delivered, suggested (briefly) we might have to pay more (we had paid in advance) but soon dropped this when it got a lukewarm reception. Drinks did not arrive until at least half the lunch was eaten. I didn't see any evidence of a quiet room either, which there usually is at spas. There were not enough sun-loungers (there were several large parties to be fair but this must happen from time to time) and the pool area is far too hot for comfort. However, the hotel itself really made us welcome. There was a large wedding going on but they kindly gave us five rooms on a top floor landing of our own and I can't say that I heard any noise from my room. These rooms had clearly been recently refurbished, very nicely indeed and only the water pressure lets the side down. It didn't matter really and I slept very well. Huge credit to the waiting staff in the restaurant who really gave us a nice evening. We had pre-paid for a three course meal but were given complimentary cocktails, bread, an amuse bouche and a palate cleanser. They put us in a delightful small room on our own, so again we were not affected by the wedding party. Service and food could not have been better and all delivered with a smile. The same at breakfast, which was equally nice. This hotel is very well placed, a stone's throw off the A14 but I heard little road noise and the surroundings are beautiful. If it can sort its spa service out it could be somewhere to visit again.

    « Family weekend away »

Very pleasant spacious environment, staff very helpful, food good, surroundings attractive and excellent spa facilities. All 10 of us, 3 generations, had a good time including 3 children aged 3months, 2years and 4 years

    « Pleasant stay »

Lovely buildings and very convenient for Cambridge. We had a large, comfortable room and the bed was very comfortable. My evening bar meal was lovely and evening staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were disappointing but our comments at the time to the hotel were dealt with promptly. This was my second visit and I would happily stay here again.

« Nice but attention to detail missing »

Our room lovely and atmosphere from staff was very warm. The pool needed some staff cleaning up empty beds with towels, magazines sprawled and view would be better out the spa if the windows were cleaned. Tables within in the hotel weren't cleaned promptly. Not enough staff it seemed. Just the facilities area were generally untidy.

    « Noisy, otherwise OK »

Generally a good clean hotel with all the amenities expected of a Best Western hotel. It's location is very good being just off the A14 and only a 5 min drive to a Park and Ride into Cambridge. We had a ground floor Superior Double in one of the converted barns which was quite noisy from loudly closing doors and people moving around in the room above us - the wooden floor/ceiling beams groaned as if the guests above us were all overweight. Since we arrived on a Sunday and getting over a trans-Atlantic flight we needed to eat early so went to the Celtic Bar and ordered fish and chips with a bottle of white wine. The wine was delivered at room temperature and half of it poured immediately by the waiter who then placed the bottle in an ice bucket to cool - some hope. The fish was nicely cooked - lightly battered plaice - but the chips were the worst we have ever encountered; they were colourless and not at all crispy. We also noticed that the potatoes served with breakfast were similarly cooked, so after this decided not to eat in the hotel for the rest of our stay so went to the village pub for food which turned out to be surprisingly good.

« Poor value for money »

Staff rude. Refurbishment taking place in spa which we were not notified of. Beer off; twice had to tell staff the barrel needed changing before they did it. Pot holes in road to the hotel. Room had lots of little problems such as leaky shower, lights not working, TV problems, only one bath towel etc. Would not recommend

    « Lovely location »

This was my second visit here, I was pleased when I was able to book it. We spent the weekend here when we decided last minute to go to Duxford, which is about a 15 minute drive. Given it was a bank holiday, and they had 4 weddings, it didn't seem too busy, and there was plenty of car parking. If there was a problem, it was that non-wedding guests were not able to use the main bar lounge, being somewhat crowded into a side room. We had a first floor room with vaulted ceiling, which was huge, with a lovely bathroom - though shame it was let down by the nasty cheap and cheerful hardwired hair drier which is only there to create static, and not dry hair. The room overlooked the courtyard at the front , and the road to the car park at the side, so we did find it noisy with the windows open with suitcases on cobbles, and drunken wedding guests. And for goodness sake, please stop propping open fire doors, and slamming room doors! The food we had in the bar was good, the breakfast was very good - though it would be nice to see covers over the breads/pastries when the windows are open. The wee loaves in the flower plots are delicious. We also rather took issue with paying nearly £4 for an ashtray filled with vegetable crisps - when we disputed this, it was removed from the bill - snacks are outrageously priced. We also had to question being charged for Johnny Walker blue label, when what we had was regular black label. Maybe this confusion was caused by the lack of staff dedicated to the non-wedding guests - certainly service was hit and miss, with more miss than hit. We did use the pool; no isues here - the Ladies has new lockers that don't require any money, although you do have to remember what number you've got. After a long drive in an open top car, it was just the ticket. My previous visit was during the week, as a business stay, certainly as a BH weekend guest it was a different experience. Certainly a nice place to stay when in the Cambridge area.

« Good Hotel in a Quiet Setting »

This hotel is in a quiet area outside of Cambridge, making it the perfect setting, but it is quite a bit out from Cambridge, so you will need a car to get to the city. The hotel is set in an old mill. My room was in one of the 'outhouse buildings' where the rooms were large and spacious. The hotel was well equipped with a lovely pool and spa, as well as a very well stocked bar. Breakfast was good, although I can't comment on the dinner as I never had it here. One word of caution with the spa- when stepping into the jacuzzi, be aware of the very small step leading into it A nice hotel which I would consider staying at again

« Great Hotel Let Down By Spa Operators »

We booked this hotel as a last minute break for our whole family to only find that children were not allowed in the pool after 6.00pm. The management have since put a message on the website to say this. However, the fact that the hotel boasts a pool as 'their' facilities is misleading. The spa and pool is separately owned that their local regular customers are put above hotel guests - this is not acceptable as per the hotel's advertising. To be fair, the management got an extension for our children to go into the pool but I would still questions why NON RESIDENT guests are held in higher regard than hotel guests. The management also comped us items which we thought were fair and reasonable for the trouble. The restaurant for dinner was exemplary, as was breakfast. The room was very comfortable - we had a superior family room with spa bath. A/C would make this a 5*. Very well appointed and we didnt even see the ghost... Now that we know about the spa and pool, we would recommend and stay again.

    « Superior Sunday Lunch »

We came to the restaurant for a family gathering and Sunday Lunch. Service was excellent, and the food clearly freshly prepared and done so with passion and attention-to-detail. The dining room and menu is traditional, but the welcome was warm and the food enjoyable. We've been previously for Afternoon Tea (also recommended) and Sunday Lunch continued the pleasantly high standards.

    « Quy Mill »

Altogether very good although Spa Fitness building suffered from being under repair. Good service for bar food and attentive staff. There are excellent walks available from the hotel itself to Anglesea Abbey - worth promoting.

    « Anniversary trip »

Hotel very nice, however we were in a block of rooms, when people left the building the door slammed making a large noise, maybe soft close doors to these buildings. The extractor fan in the bathroom is very noisy and stays on too long. Pool area is awful, items left behind were still there the next day. Steam room has a foul smell, drains are filthy and need a clean(hence could be the smell). Hot tub jets some of them are brown, again, could do with a good clean

    « One night stay »

A pleasant stay hotel nice, although room was on the top floor 4 flights of stairs ( no lift) so if your not good on your feet then may be a problem so ask for a room on a lower level! The room was clean and shower room was good but, room was very hot as heat rises, room did have air con but I always feel dreadful next morning if I have had it on all night. We ate in the restaurant which the food was excellent it is a two rosette standard, we also had breakfast which was not included in the price so was priced at £12.50 pp which again food was very good so worth the money. Had two treatments in the Imagine spa which was good, nice pool ,jacuzzi ,steam rooms ,and relaxation rooms, nice experience and friendly staff both in the Hotel and the Spa. It stated was a Best Westin but now her from the signage to interior was that evident. A nice visit.

« Best, 'Best Western', so far! »

I must admit I am a fan of Best Western Hotels and this must rank as one of their best. Set in an old mill ,in picturesque countryside, with the mill stream flowing by, we stayed in the ground floor executive rooms which were very comfortable indeed. The welcome in reception from Helen was excellent adding to the good feeling we already had about this hotel. The surrounding gardens are well kept and clearly used for weddings whilst our table in the restaurant had a great view through the french windows. The menu was interesting with oysters on offer, although I have had bigger fillet steaks in my tornados rossini, for 30 quid! The swimming pool and spa are well laid out with yet another area to relax and look out over the countryside. The addition of menthol in the steam room certainly help invigorate for the day ahead! All in all agreat experience and Highly Recommended.

« overnight stay whilst in the area »

Hotel is located near to busy road, but the noise is not bothersome at all, arrived on a sunny warmish evening and was able to sit in the garden for a few hours with drinks, which was a bonus for the UK, the hotel has a Restaurant and also provides a bar menu which was extensive enough, plenty of choices available, but drinks here are pricey no matter what management may say. The hotel has ample free car parking, the rooms are of good quality and cleanliness throughout is of a good standard, nice and quiet rooms during our stay, but perhaps if there is some function, (I gather they hold weddings from time to time, noise levels could be a problem). There is a swimming pool available but we did not make use of this or any of the other facilities other than the bar for eating and drinking as this was a "hit and run" visit sleep quality was fine, lovely comfortable bed, bathroom was adequate for anyone's needs, not sure I would stay here again, if I could find somewhere of a similar quality that was a bit further away from a major road. Also different was to watch the small aircraft taking off from a runway just at the bottom of the garden providing you do not mind the engine noise whilst sipping your wine. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional, but somehow this place did not live up to my expectation, especially the pricey drinks.

    « Wonderful birthay weekend »

My husband bought me here as a surprise for my special birthday last weekend - the hotel looked lovely and was in a great setting. We stayed in a fantastic room (203) in a separate block - it was gorgeous. On the first night we ate in the bar and had a fantastic meal. On my actual birthday we ate in the restaurant. The staff had decorated our table - unfortunately it was with 'happy anniversary' rather than birthday (hehe!) but it was the thought that counted. There were a few problems with our meal, sadly, but these were sorted to our satisfaction. The pool/jacuzzi/sauna was lovely and clean (sadly the steam room was out of order) and there were some sunloungers that looked out onto the lovely grounds and you could watch the birds feeding. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We thought this hotel was lovely and would have no hesitation in returning. Thanks. :)

« Imagine spa availability lets this hotel down »

This was our second stay here, very nice grounds, lovely clean and comfortable room. Best Western staff nice, breakfast lovely. Great cycle route into Cambridge. For our first stay there was treatments in the spa available but limited availability. This time I booked only a few days in advance and emailed the spa asking to book 4 treatments, they replied the next day and could only offer 1, I replied, disappointed but I'll take that 1 please. Then received an email saying sorry, not now available. This hotel boasts 'SPA' in its name, it should replace that with 'POOL'. The best Western staff accepted no responsibility for the spa. Yes there was a wedding, ok, they were busy but not happy with the service. Shame but this makes the whole experience overpriced. You can stay in just as nice a hotel near Cambridge for much less money, and it has a pool!!

« Great service and amazing food »

We only stayed for one night but all the staff were friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing and the staff attentive. Breakfast was good quality and the room, although standard was very clean and well appointed. We would definitely recommend and would visit again. The whole hotel had a lovely relaxed feel.

« Average overpriced hotel with excellent pool and gym facilities »

Our room was super-average. Small and impersonal. Not clean either unfortunately so the first thing I had to do was wipe all the spilt coffee from my bedside table. Our welcome was also very average. The receptionist asked us the same question twice without irony so clearly hadn't listened to the first answer we gave! At the price we paid the fact that breakfast wasn't included was almost criminal. For two of us for two nights would have been £50 so we decided to skip. On the plus side, the pool and gym were some of the best facilities I've seen. Friendly staff and lots of great equipment. We spend two mornings there and made the most of the gym, pool, hot tub and sauna. Sadly the steam room was out of order. Another lovely feature was the loungers looking out on the river with fully stocked bird feeders. Excellent planning. Other than that, you probably need to be aware that the hotel is next to an airfield so the roar of jets taking off and landing is another interesting feature. Wifi is also very patchy so don't expect to be able to do very much with it other than send an email or two!

    « A Lovely pleasant hotel »

We stayed at this hotel for two nights on a short break to Cambridge. We visited on a bank holiday and there was a wedding taking place at the hotel. Even though they were very busy, we recieved excellent service by all staff during our stay. Our room was lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of food available. The only disappointment was that we could not have any treatments at the spa as they were fully booked because of the bank holiday. We used the swimming pool and gym facilities and both were very good and not too busy. We had an evening meal at the hotel which was very nice but felt we needed more vegetables. Hotel is an easy drive away from the city centre. We had a lovely, relaxing stay at this hotel.

« Would stay there again! »

Very impressed by the hotel. Very clean throughout and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I don't know if I visited at a particularly popular time but the rooms seemed very expensive. Breakfast and dinner were both very good.

« Nice place but be prepared for disappointment »

Avoid anything on top floor as the shower has no pressure at all. You will be lucky to get a drop out of the shower in the morning. Breakfast was good but staff attitude is poor. The place is clean though and you get a good night sleep. Didn't use the spa so can't rate those facilities.

    « Lovely peaceful location »

We stayed here for one night (would have loved to stay longer!). The staff were very professional and helpful. The room was lovely + well furnished. The location was lovely, out in the countryside with areas to sit and to walk around outside. Would definiatly recommend to others + hope to return!

« A total lack of concern for their customers »

We booked for two nights bed and breakfast. Returning from a day sightseeing in Cambridge we discovered we had no hot water for showering, etc. Upon reporting this to reception we were advised that they had been aware of the problem with the boiler during the day and had relocated guests from affected rooms. When we asked why we had not been relocated we were advised there were no more available rooms. Their sole suggestion was that if we wanted a shower we could cross the open courtyard to another building which houses the spa. No further assistance was offered by the hotel management. We fully understand that unforeseen problems occur. However, such circumstances should be when hotels demonstrate their customer service skills to assist their customers. A number of questions need to be considered :- 1. Why was no note left on our room advising of the problem and requesting we contact reception upon our return ? 2. If no alternative room was available, why had they not contacted other local hotels to seek assistance ? 3. Why did the duty manager not visit our room in person to explain the situation ? Doing so via the telephone demonstrating yet another customer service failure This is not the level of customer service to be expected of a Best Western Plus hotel ! Being placed in this unfortunate situation, with a total lack of meaningful assistance from the hotel management, we felt we had no alternative but to check out and return home thus curtailing what up to then had been a very enjoyable trip to Cambridge. To say we are bitterly disappointed with this situation is an understatement. We will certainly think very hard before booking another Best Western hotel if this is the level of customer service they now consider acceptable..

    « Best food & staff ever »

Was welcomed with a smile and spence of humour. We did not book and was extremely lucky to have a great room. The steak in the restaurant was definitely one of the best ever and poached free range eggs superb. Really enjoyed using the excellent leisure facilities with a large gym and pool. All members of staff were excellent at all times.

    « A let down!!! »

I went here this weekend, the room i booked was for two nights and meant to be a double, which in fact was two singles pushed together making its very uncomfortable to sleep, then there was the reason for choosing this hotel to start with, the spa! Well what can i say both the Jacuzzi and steam room were out of order, and when i went to book a massage they were fully booked for both days! Saying they had 'hen dos' surely knowing your soo busy in advance would insure you would have extra staff to hand. Unfortunately i was so disappointed not worth the price i paid, didn't get the spa experience, simply a uncomfortable bed and a swimming pool. Would not go back or recommend.

« Great service, great staff »

Booked last minute as my wife was in the Spa. The hotel was well presented in lovely grounds. The staff were very attentive even though they had a wedding to attend to. It was a short cab ride to Cambridge centre for the night out.

« Expensive hotel poor performance »

Understaffed, dubious hygiene standards & poor service. The bar area was a mess with dirty crockery on the bar and tables left with glasses strewn over them.Bar staff were clearly inexperienced and had poor knowledge of the product they sold. When we were eventually served with a simple thing like a pot of tea this arrived after a lengthy wait minus a cup to drink it from. The milk jug had indeterminate brown stains around the rim and when the waitress returned with the cup it too was dirty. After wiping the cup when pouring the tea in it bubbled up and clearly had not been rinsed. Walked out after two hours and the manager charged us £150 for the privilege having graciously agreed not to charge us the full £242 with £150 being his lowest offer and we had no refund for the abysmal cup of tea we were served. You think paying nearly £250 a night you would expect something approaching a fairly high standard but with this hotel this was not to be the case. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

    « JR »

We spent the night. V comfortable, lovely grounds although you could hear the motorway. Very professional helpful staff, very high standard of food. I looked at TripAdvisor before I arrived and were aware of some comments were regarding the cost of some meals however the food I saw and the meals we had were of a very high standard and were worth every penny. Great leisure facilities. Just well managed. Would go back. Enjoy!!

    « Hotel stay »

Myself and my husband decided to book a last minute break for the bank holiday weekend. used the spa facilities... a little tired but were ok... The hotel room was lovely with a view of the river and bridges and rolling countryside... all in all a lovely hotel. We ordered room service with a £5 tray service charge.... We had the platter and 2 desserts and were delicious and very well made...

    « Very relaxing! »

Very relaxing break away with hubby! We stayed for one night while we went to Newmarket racing. Hotel was very picturesque, staff were very friendly and food was good (although a bit pricey at £16 for a burger!). Room was nice and clean. We would stay here again

« Great stay and fantastic food »

Came for a wedding this weekend, staff couldn't of been more polite and helpful. Definitely by no means cheap but huge variety of drinks and the food was some of the best i've had in a long time. Rooms are lovely and spacious with plenty of facilities, only complaint would be they aren't particularly sound proof, could here every noise of others in the rooms and all the wandering around, although this does settle down later at night! Great spa facilities and fantastic wedding venue.

    « Average »

Average. I thought this room was average. Very average. In keeping with UK, but not international hotels we have stayed at such as Bangkok, KL, Australia, USA, South Korea, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Paris.

    « Lazy Afternoon Tea »

I met a friend here last Sunday for afternoon tea - and what a wonderful find it was. A full menu of teas plus a sumptuous list of cakes and pastries. I particularly recommend the mini muffins served with clotted cream and fresh red currants. Gosh, it doesn't get much better. Quiet and efficient waiting staff make the experience unforgettable and, in addition, unbelievable value for money.

« The Perfect Wedding Reception Venue »

We stayed as part of a wedding for two nights. The staff were so accommodating, polite and friendly. The day of the wedding the staff were on hand to help with everything, if we needed pins, umbrellas, cameras, they had them. The staff stayed in the bar till everyone left even when the party was over. They prepared a breakfast for 46 people the day after with plenty of options for everyone. Finally the hotel its self was great, the rooms were varied and had everything you needed, the grounds were beautiful and the gym and spa were easily accessible. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for not only a wedding but a nice weekend away.

    « Reasonable mid-range hotel »

I stayed with my wife as we were meeting some colleauges from work for dinner. The hotel has been much improved from when I was here a few years ago, and is clean and well presented. Our room was very newly decorated and was very pleasant, as was the bathroom. The the dinner was a little disappointing, it was just ok - if I stay again, I will drive somewhere else to eat. Breakfast was good, in particular the cooked breakfast, but the self serve part of the continental breakfast had not been replenished and thinks like the juiced had run out. I would return, but on balance I will try somewhere else next time.

« Lovely Hotel, good restaurant but VERY expensive »

The food in the restaurant is good and the service exemplary, BUT it's very over priced, I don't mind paying good money for food, but after 2 courses you shouldn't feel hungry and selling £6 bottles of wine for £25 is a rip off, £80 for two courses for two people and a bottle of wine not including service is very strong for food of good standard, equally nearly 5 for mainline beer is extreme. The Hotel itself is also really nice, but I wouldn't stay here again, being ripped off like this leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Also room service were over zealous in vacuuming and knocking the door before 9am.

« Excellent and Very Enjoyable Stay »

An excellent and relaxing stay. Accommodation, catering and the leisure facilities were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the area. A car us a definite advantage as there are no nearby buses to Cambridge on a Sunday.

    « birthday treat »

On arrival at the hotel I had an hour beauty treatment which was a great relaxing way to the start of our overnight stay. We enjoyed a great evening meal in the restaurant with excellent service. Breakfast was good .Will defiantly return.

« Wonderful haven of tranquility close to Cambridge »

Myself and my wife spent 4 wonderful nights in BEST WESTERN PLUS Cambridge Quy Mill Hotel recently and both of us would recommend it highly. From the moment we arrived, all through the visit, we were looked after so well by all the staff. The hotel is situated close to Cambridge but is in a rural setting. It has a great pool and spa and the food is of a very high standard. The breakfast is one of the best I have had anywhere.

    « Very good experience »

We took three rooms as a family for a funeral visit to the area. We were all delighted with the quality of the hotel and especially the professional and friendly attitude of all the staff. The rooms were spotless and comfortable with very nice beds, the swimming pool is great with its accompanying facilities, the views from the rooms of the stream and surrounding area was lovely and I would like to find a reason to go and stay here again.

    « Good Short Break »

My wife and I have just come back from a 4 day mid-week break from the Quy Hotel. We had a great stay - facilities were excellent. As soon as we arrived - Helen on reception made us feel really welcome and also arranged for our bags to be moved to our room. It felt like our room must have been recently refurbished as everything seemed "shiny" new - from the furniture to the bathroom. All was good, clean and comfortable. The spa and pool are also very good - the pool is larger than you might think and there is a jazuzzi, steam room and sauna as well as a gym. We did not actually try any of the spa treatments but my wife said they were reasonably priced and seemed popular also. Eating is split into the bar menu and the restaurant menu. The bar menu is quite extensive so we ate there each night. Prices are ok - but the food is excellent. From sandwiches to steaks and fish, burgers etc..All were exceptionally good to eat - no complaints at all - a special mention here to Carlos - one of the waiters who looked after us well during our stay. We did not try the actual restaurant - the menu was more limited than the bar menu and was maybe a little over-priced ?? House-keeping were also friendly and helpful. The hotel has great gardens and patio areas for outside sitting assuming the weather allows you to do so. For travelling into the city there is a convenient park and ride approx 5-6 minute drive from the hotel. We used this a couple of times as the city is difficult and expensive to park. I suppose in all of these things the main measure is if you would go back again - and following this visit we most certainly will.

« Long weekend away to visit Cambridge »

Stayed here for 3 nights 4/5/6 March 2016. Had a FANTASTIC time, Large(ish) hotel with the feel of a much smaller, more intimate hotel. Friendly helpful staff, room was beautiful but if you're over 6' tall mind your head on the oak beams! Breakfast was great, with an excellent cooked English, full continental choice and as much fruit, cereal and yoghurty things to satisfy the more waistline conscious. The pool was beautiful with loungers and an enclosed sun deck, used the pool 3 times to work off the breakfast and a quick Jacuzzi & sauna to work up an appetite for dinner. We would definitely return.

« Worked out well in the end! »

Firstly it's worth noting that I made this booking via! Never again..I would rather spend a bit more and know I am going to get what I booked! Ok so looking on and I see a standard room for X price with breakfast etc but then an executive room for £12 more... I booked the executive room, treat for my husband and I and for only £12 extra.. BARGAIN..or so I thought... It turns out this upgrade does not include Breakfast so I had to add another £25 on to this amount. Didn't panic too much as thought hotel would be worth it...and you know what it is the hotel is beautiful! We arrive and are greeted by a lovely receptionist who gives us our room key etc... go to the room and find it's an interconnecting room & even though the door is locked (we checked) we can hear everything the couple next door are saying.. Not what I was expecting and no mention of this when booking online with Over we go to reception and the lovely receptionist upgrades to a suite which was beautiful so massive thank you for that! Room was big, spa bath etc lovely.. would have been nice to stay in the summer as the outdoor area looked lovely. The bed were 2 singles put together but that seems to be the norm, and room was clean etc. We ate in the bar for dinner and the food was lovely!, In the morning we used the spa facilities and if we came again I would most definitely book a treatment. Breakfast was lovely and worth the £12.50 each! So overall a lovely overnight stay I will just book directly next time!

    « Outstanding Service »

A gorgeous hotel with a lovely spa, the treatments were excellent. We ate lunch in the restaurant and as we were a group we were given a private room, an unexpected treat. The food was excellent and well priced. The rooms were charming with beautiful views and the breakfast (private room again) was superb. What impressed me most about this hotel was that without exception, every single member of staff we encountered in the hotel and spa gave simply exceptional service. Nothing was too much trouble, all staff were attentive without being intrusive and went the extra mile to ensure everything was perfect. It is so rare to find an entire team who seem to genuinely care about the experience of their clients. Many other hotels could learn from this. We will definitely be back, the service alone is worth the room price!

    « Wonderful but far »

If you are staying at the hotel with the intention of frequently going to Cambridge town centre, then think twice as cab fares will bankrupt you. The hotel in itself is very beautiful, the swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym and sauna are a cherry on top. The room is very pleasant and clean. My only two criticisms are how loud staff were in the morning and the extremely boring and pretentious atmosphere at the restaurant - I do realise that's more of a personal observations though. Overall our stay was wonderful and I would happily return, although I'd dine elsewhere as not really my "vibe".

    « Amazing!! »

Mine and my husbands stay at the Quy Mill was wonderful!! The hotel itself is really attractive the old fashioned beams across the ceilings are beautiful, the food was great and the hotel was extremely clean (not always use to that in other hotels I have stayed in) The staff were great especially the night staff, very helpful and the young lad on the reception desk was really polite and made sure everything was fine, and offered to take our bags to our room for us. Overall this is a wonderful hotel and I will be returning!!! :)

« Not as special as it was. Reward scheme is worthless »

I last stayed here in September and could not have been happier, room upgrade, food was nice, pool was nice, lovely grounds. Stayed there Sunday as we were going to the corn exchange in the city. Ordered a taxi from Panther Taxis and the driver told reception he was there and then turned his meter on, be careful as that made our taxi ride 18 quid, I used to drive a taxi in Cambridge and you didn't start the meter until people were in the cab. Anyway, back to the hotel, we got our room upgrade again, very happy with it, room 104, same room as last time in the beautiful outbuildings. Cleaning staff were a little noisy in the morning which I wasn't very pleased about as it had been a late night. We called reception to ask about the possibility of a late checkout, they said there would be a charge, this used to be free for Best Western Diamond members, you also used to get a free paper, now its a welcome gift, I have stayed at two Best Westerns since they updated their reward schemes and didn't get a welcome gift. I had an email from Best Western late last year to tell me if I stayed over 30 nights two years running you attained Diamond status for life, which on the old scheme was great, that meant, upgrades, free morning paper, points and money off eating in the restaurants, so I stayed my 30 nights last year, now they've done away with this deal before my second year was up. Moving the goalposts, they've introduced a new tier, Diamond Select, taken away points for spend in the hotel, away with morning paper (although in truth you rarely got it), the points are worth less than before, you get a welcome gift now apparently, no late checkout or early check ins without charge. I stay over 200 nights a year in hotels and luckily have an elite membership with Accor Hotels also, which is still worth something. Best Western also bombards me with emails of offers, if I spend two nights before a certain date I get $25 voucher, I chased this up recently only to be told this wasn't a UK offer, but they still like to send me them anyway. I have spoken to the Best Western Rewards team and they seem to think it is an improvement on the old scheme, not so, they also only told me of the welcome gift when explaining the newspaper had been removed from the scheme, they did not mention, the discount on food had gone or the points on room spend. Back to the hotel... the changing rooms in the spa were dirty and tired looking with a leak from an air con unit in the gents, my wife tells me the ladies changing area was also tired. The pool is nice and the sun room also nice. The grounds are still lovely just be informed on the new Best Western Rewards changes.

    « A very disappointing experience »

We travelled down to Cambridge for a very dear friends Funeral, which refreshments were provided for after the service at this hotel, which being a stranger to the area it was not very well signposted, the parking was very difficult as it was on gravel, and being disabled I found very difficult!!!! there didn't seem to be any disabled parking.??? There was just a sign on function room door stating "Private Function" there was no signage stating where the toilets were, there was no seperate disabled toilet it was in the normal ladies toilets which everyone was using. (No signage) The room was in two halves, and there was about 4 or 5 tables set out, but the staff had not put out any food, that arrived after about 40mins by a young man who did not seem as if he wanted to be there, after the sandwiches arrived the coffee ran out, and we had to wait ages before it was replenished everyone was wondering where he had had to go to replenish it, then when half of the guests had some sandwiches those ran out and we had to wait again, then all they bought in was fahita's with various fillings no sandwiches at all, most people were complaining, but the staff didn't seem interested at all. I hope they perform better service at Weddings!!!!!!

    « Very relaxing »

Just outside Cambridge with good fitness room, swimming pool, sauna etc. The breakfast was very good. Close to Anglesey Abbey and not too far from Wicken Fen for National Trust members. Bring your bike and cycle the Lode's Way towards Ely.

    « Great Experience »

A first class hotel although better signage would help in finding it. Spotlessly clean and staff friendly and attentive. A few miles from Cambridge but convenient for Park & Ride. At £1 for 18 hours, it is not worth driving in to Cambridge. Comfortable beds and excellent food although a little expensive. Obviously a good chief. There is no lift due to the layout of the Old Mill building, so people requiring wheelchair access will need to stay in the outbuildings, but may struggle with the gravel ground coverage. Although we didn't use the pool, we had look around and it seemed first class and a sensible sized pool. Does accommodate conferences but we had no issues with other guests. Worth looking at the old mill-wheel if you get a chance. Excellent grounds which can be viewed from the restaurant. If you are looking for a few days break in Cambridge, then highly recommended.

    « Disappointing »

Having booked in at the Imagine health spa for treatments and a half day use of spa facilities we were told we could go for afternoon tea afterwards without booking. When arriving to the main hotel to be seated, we were dismissed by staff at their 'waiting to be seated area' 3 times by a staff member. It didn't seem to be busy with customers and very few staff working. When we spoke to the bar staff they were not so friendly or accommodating, they just stated if you haven't booked 'the chef cannot make you afternoon tea'. Not suggesting we could have any other food or drinks. We have been to this establishment on many occasions and have found the staff to be slow, poor hospitality service and we would like to see an improvement. It's such a shame when we are members at the spa and health club to want to make further use of the hotel's restaurant and bar to be disappointed again and again. This ruined our birthday/mothering Sunday trip.

    « Weekend break »

On arrival, the staff were friendly and helpful which continued through our stay. The buildings were lovely. Unfortunately we were at the very top , which was about four floors up, high rising stairs and no lift. Ok for us, but I wouldn't recommend this floor for elderly guests. The pool, gym , sauna area was clean and well looked after. Beautiful grounds. Meals were lovely.a very enjoyable stay.

« Two Night Business Stopover »

Arrived late evening and hotel not that easy to find down a long dark track. Hotel situated very close to the busy A14 and we could hear traffic noise from our room (No.31) situated in the main building. Also no lift and had to lug suitcases up four flight of stairs, our mistake and should have asked for assistance! Our room was small but nicely decorated and warm. Good sized ensuite shower but strangely no shower mat or shower caps provided. Requested from room service a latte and a glass of orange juice and the bill for this was£12.50 which included a £5 room delivery charge which we felt was pretty steep for just two drinks! We booked dinner in the restaurant on the second night which unfortunately didn't go too well. Had to wait 35 minutes before our starters arrived, which when you are tired and hungry is rather frustrating. The food however was very good when it eventually arrived and beautifully presented. Overall ok if you are visiting Cambridge (Newmarket Road Park & Ride close by and very efficient) but we would not choose to stay again.

    « Golden Wedding Party »

I write this the day following our Golden Wedding Anniversary when my Wife and I hosted 45 guests in the Garden Room. It was an occasion which will live long in our memory made so by the excellent quality of this hotel. From the time of Booking to the time of departure we were so impressed by the friendliness and courtesy of all the staff and here I mention particularly Zoe and Kelly. Indeed the attitude of everyone from reception to Bar staff and the staff serving an excellent meal was faultless. Thank you Quy Mill for a wonderful day.

« Good Value, Relaxing Stay »

Excellent location, relaxing, good amenities, and excellent staff. Let's not forget good food as well. Walking distance to Anglesey Abby. Walk and enjoy the country side scenery not far from Cambridge.

    « Weekend away »

Amazing food and friendly staff and set in an incredible building. What's not to like?!!!! Definitely worth a visit if your in or around Cambridge. Why not make use of the spa too and really treat yourself other half

    « Birthday Treat »

A three night break for my Wife's Birthday was everything we hoped for. Lovely bedroom with VERY comfortable bed and all the facilities one would expect. Very clean, super breakfast and excellent evening meal in the restaurant (although for the latter we were the only two eating, so somewhat lacking in atmosphere). The Spa facilities were adequate but sun loungers are at a premium due to lack of space. My wife used the Beauty Salon and was very pleased with the treatment and care. Very friendly and helpful staff. My only criticism would be the slightly inflated menu prices which is perhaps why the restaurant was lacking in customers but I would recommend that you give it a go. You will NOT be disappointed.

    « Valentines Stay »

I booked last minute for a Valentines Night stay and it turned out to be a nice evening. I did feel the booking was a bit over priced but I suppose they can justify it by allowing use of the pool, hot tub and sauna. Other spa treatments come at an additional rate. It seemed to be a rather quiet hotel, even at the bar area. Prices there are also a bit steep, but again its a hotel. Our room was great, 202 I believe. Superior Room with a jacuzzi tub. Was told the tube was a single however thats not the case. We had dinner booked in for 2030 for the valentines package and that was also very good. All in all, a good evening just a bit expensive.

    « Lovely Valentine's weekend stay »

Fantastic stay at this lovely hotel. We were allocated a spacious room in the main part of the hotel with a four poster (the whirlpool bath was a bonus!). We used the leisure facilities on the first day which were immaculate. Also, despite a wedding being on at the hotel we weren't affected and the food both at dinner and breakfast was very good. Would recommend.

« Spa only for a hen do did not stay in hotel thank goodness »

Lovely massage great staff but the facilities are awful. Poxy small over crowded swimming pool, poxy cold filthy showers, inadequate number of relaxation beds. The worst spa experience ever. Just nothing to do.

    « Business trip »

Stayed at the Quy Mill for one night prior to a meeting in Cambridge. A very nice place, friendly welcome from the reception staff, room of a good standard especially for the price, modern, comfortable double bed, excellent shower and bathroom facilities. Plenty of parking. Ate in the bar in the evening, good service and a reasonable choice, might try dining room for dinner next trip as the breakfast there in the morning was very good. I will certainly stay here again on my next business trip to Cambridge.

    « Oustanding - 5 stars! »

it was my mum and dad's 50th wedding anniversary and they could not accommodate us enough. the staff decorated our table and made my mum and dad feel so special. the service was impeccable, the food outstanding, rooms immaculate. I have marked 10/10 for everything which i have never done so before. Thank you to all the staff who made our weekend so enjoyable.

    « Life savers! »

I was a guest at a wedding in this hotel but did not stay there, the next day I went to pick up my car and my tyre had blown. I had no battery on my phone and went into the hotel to ask for help.the two ladies on reception Jessica and Sophie went above and beyond to help me, they lent me a laptop, let me use there phone and found me a charger for mine. They even range round local garages for me!! They let us stay in the bar area until my car was fixed. They where genuinely amazing and I don't know what I would have done without them so THANK YOU x

    « Great staff »

Just stayed the one night as was in town for the day on business, very good welcome by Helen on front desk who explained the whole hotel to me in a very succinct style which suits my style Very clean room if on the small side but overall very pleasant

« A beautiful and relaxed hotel to visit »

We have been very regular visitors to The Quy Mill and Spa. The lounge or Conservatory are very pleasant places to relax and have coffee. The Tartan Room (with bar) is small, cosy and exclusive to dine in. The Restaurant, overlooking landscaped grounds, is again very different, both in atmosphere and decor. The food is absolutely fabulous - and extremely reasonable for a 3-course meal. The bar and waiting staff are all to be commended. And we mustn't forget the cheerful, helpful Maintenance Team - two very, very, very nice men who helped fix a car seat! Before you leave this excellent hostelry, make sure you visit The Wheel Room, where the old Mill wheel is visible through a well - designed "window" and, understandably, a very popular place for weddings. Cannot recommend The Quy Mill more highly, a gem in Cambridge 's countryside.

« Gave this hotel one last chance to change my mind and it was awful still! »

I've been to this hotel 4 times now, the first two times were amazing. The 3rd not great and I thought I would give it one more chance to try and impress me like the first 2 times! This hotel has massively down graded.. It was mine and my partners anniversary and we asked for an upgraded room if possible. We were shoved on the top floor with beans so low that I banged my head numerous times. The person in front of us got a upgraded room.. A business man on his own with no special occasion to celebrate! Anyway not the main reason I am not happy.. As I have said this is our 4th time to the hotel and we were asked if we wanted to add breakfast to our bill at £15 per person even though the last 3 times this has been included in the price I said we would add one on and my partner would sit with me as he only eats one slice of toast and can easily go without. After some conversation with the general manager they told us we would have to pay and the rules regarding breakfast had changed in 2016. Next day we went for breakfast and the luxury items which I used to enjoy they didn't have.. No home mad bread and no branded HP and tomatoe sauce. Again something small but noticed this as these were the small things I appreciate! The lady serving breakfast was the rudest person I have ever met and made us feel really uncomfortable with me sitting eating my paid breakfast whilst my partner just sat there. She obviously thought I was going to give him some breakfast for free which I would never do! When I walked out of the breakfast room I was told by the manager that she had made a mistake and we could have breakfast for free, which I was grateful for but it proves She was lying the previous day as the policy had obviously not changed. It was to late for my partner to go back in and therefore missed out on any food. The room was dirty, the light near the bed didn't work the shower panel was falling off! Previously I mentioned this on my way out of the hotel and was just told that they were sorry so I didn't waste my energy telling them this time. Will never go back to this hotel and it's such a shame as it was my favourite hotel the first 2 times I stayed!

    « Nice hotel »

Stayed on business and the hotel was very good. My room was in a block just across the courtyard in what was probably a converted barn. It had a nice new feel and was very clean and well maintained. My room was spacious and I found the bed to very comfortable with good quality linen - a must for me. We ate in the restaurant which was good. The menu was a little limited for my gluten free diet, but my salad was nevertheless nice. They had some good beers too which helps.

    « Fantastic stay »

A fantastic stay at the Quy Mill hotel. Good facilities and a nice relaxing atmosphere. The food is good and great value. The staff are excellent, particularly Sam who was very professional and looked after us so well. We will look forward to coming back

    « Appauling!! »

Where do we start? We had arrived after attending our Grandmothers funeral, hoping to have a relaxing evening. We had been booked in for February, not January. Not much of an issue, as they had spare rooms, mistakes happen. We headed over to the Imagine Spa, which is the only gem in the 'Hotel of hell'. The therapists were very skilled, very sensitive and practically perfect. Thank you Hannah and the other girls! After a long day my sister stayed in the room to receive room service. Myself and my Mother booked a table at the bar. Over an hour later we still had no food and no explanation as to why. We asked how much longer this would take, to which the response was a while!? We decided to cancel the order and after an apology from one kind waiter we headed back to our room with a bag of free crisps each...woohoo! Clearly not worth the 2 AA's they boast about. We got back to the room, my Mothers bag was not there, after being told it would be brought over. The beds were comfy. The room was incredibly noisy, woken at 1am by next door having a bath. Wi-fi was non existent. Room was set up for 2 guests, even though we booked for 3, eg. 2 towels, 2 glasses, 2 robes etc. Upon check-out the real downfall of this hotel became apparent when the Duty Manager tried to deal with our issues. It is obvious the hotel has a blame culture between its staff. Nothing was the Duty Managers fault because 'she doesn't move far from the desk so cant deal with restaurant issues'. Staff lie to eachother, the lady at rerception had no idea she was meant to bring the bag over (yes she did) the restaurant had informed us it would be a long wait (no they didnt). The Duty Manager concentrated alot of the complaint on the fact the government make them cut down on towels for the environment. For one guest they provide 1 towel, for 2 guests they provide 2 towels, for three guests you are meant to check the wardrobe for the third towel??? I could go on, the staff attitude , especially that of the Duty Manager was the worst we have ever received. Overall an awful experience.

« Obviously being run by bean-counters - shame as a lovely hotel!! »

I have stayed in this hotel quite a few times in the last few years as it is convenient for our Cambridge office. Over this time I have seen a steady decline in quality and level of service. We have had various problems, arguments regarding our corporate rate, no hot water (more than once), very low water pressure, poor wifi, Completely ignored me whilst in the bar waiting for service (twice). Recent visit my colleague's room (twice) absolutely stank of drains, on request to move they insisted a maintenance man check, just in case we were lying!! Out of a group of six of us 2 wanted food off the bar menu but eat with us in the restaurant, we were told they couldn't do that as it might affect there AA Rosettes!! If its not an excuse then I wonder what the hotel industry is coming to. I have a feeling that guests inconvenience them and they would prefer it if we all stayed in our rooms quietly so they could get on with running the hotel a la Basil Fawlty!! I shall seek an alternative in the future

    « No complaints! »

Third stay and all aspects of stay were faultless. All staff were efficient and attentive and there seemed to be a good team spirit. Food and service excellent. Noticeable attention to maintenance inside and out. Probably worth upgrading to superior room if you like it really quiet. Will be returning soon ! Near Park and Ride to visit Cambridge to avoid parking nightmare.

« Amazing stay! Wonderful hotel! »

The stay was a Xmas pressie to my other half to chill out before the madness of the new year. We checked in and used Imagine spa in the afternoon which was fabulous. The staff at this hotel were very helpful and friendly, we had the four course dinner in the restaurant which was delicious although we could not squeeze in our pudding and the staff oblidged by offering us a tray to take to our room and even offered to take it up!_ Our room was gorgeous and overlooked the river, was newly refurbished and cosy and clean with a lovely bathroom. We decided to pay the charge to have breakfast in bed......this is a MUST, the choice of what you can have and at what time is brilliant, the cooked breakfast included delicious local sausage and was served warm and by very accommodating staff! We had no issues whatsoever with WiFi as per previous reviews. I would 100% return to this hotel and spa and could not recommend it enough. Lovely surroundings! Great food! Excellent service! Relaxing spa! Good price! Thank you!

    « Excellent Hotel »

We stayed for 2 days after the new year celebrations. we were given an upgrade as we are Best Western card holders. We found the rooms lovely and spacious , the bed was very large and comfortable. The food was good in particular the breakfast was superb made from local produce. The staff help to make this hotel they are very attentive and always with a smile from the moment we arrived until we left.

    « Pleasant stay »

Really friendly helpful staff, great service, nice location and enjoyable stay. Food was good and no more expensive than city centre eating and drinking. Gym and pool had everything we needed and were clean and in good condition.

    « room for improvement »

Stayed there many times recently in different rooms. The hotel is clean and well appointed. Breakfast is good and the spa/gym (free for guests) is great too. However, I don,t believe the executive room is worth the extra money, stay in the standard rooms. My biggest problem is the poor Wi-Fi. In all the rooms I have been in it's very weak and just about unusable. At least one mobile network didn't work either. T here is Ethernet sockets in the rooms, which I didn't try.

    « Very Disappointing »

I felt the entire place was off putting, the rooms were small, smelly and very noisy, especially as you could hear the extractor fan from the main kitchens the whole time. The telly was wonky and the remote barely worked. The staff were quite snooty, the cleaner asked if she could get away with not cleaning our room so she could go home early and the staff in the spa were appalling. We visited the spa on the Sunday evening and there was nobody to let us in. We finally found 2 boys wrestling in the mens changing rooms who were apparently in charge, casually informed us that we could go in if we wanted but there were no clean towels for us. The changing rooms were dirty and I would certainly not visit again.

    « Very noisy »

Have stayed at this hotel on several occasions in recent years however last night proved to be the noisiest to date. I would advise not to stay in room 24 unless you don't mind being woken up at 5 am from loud banging in the kitchen. am seriously thinking of investigating other local options for my next visit.

« smart environment, good food and drinks but pricey, terrible wifi »

I went to a social event held here, and enjoyed the event because it was a nice place to visit, the food was good, the staff helpful and polite. However, the WiFi was completely useless. There were a number of broadcasted IDs, which either ignored my phone, or allowed me to connect but didn't actually give me any access to the internet. Moreover, I could barely get any mobile signal at all (Three) and neither could friends on other networks.

    « Christmas party night »

The rooms are excellent, very clean and modern. We had a head waiter who was exceptionally friendly and looked after our guests very well. The music was great and varied for everyone's enjoyment and the rooms were decorated nicely. The food was a little hit and miss but we gave exception to this due to the amount of guests. We were disappointed in that our confirmed booking of seating area was changed to a back room without discussion. This segregated us from the bar and dance floor something we did not expect. Overall a great night but be sure to check your booking details very carefully.

« Lovely comfortable Hotel outside Cambridge »

Lovely room - very comfortable for a standard basic type - modern & very clean with a great bathroom. Spa was excellent - treatments were so relaxing & all the reception & spa staff were really friendly & helpful.

« Good hotel average food. »

Clean and comfortable hotel near the centre of Cambridge. My only complaint was the service at dinner and breakfast was very slow and the food only average. My husband used the health spa facilities and thought they were very good.

    « Best weekend away »

We attended a Quy Mill Christmas party, and as it was me and my girlfriend's anniversary we decided to stay the night. The room was fantastic. It was very spacious and in immaculate condition: couldn't find any dirt/dust anywhere! The bath was a jacuzzi bath which for any romantic getaway is lovely. We had full use of the facilities and decided to use this to our advantage to take some time in the gym and to go swimming, it's everything you could ask for. The staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Overall the two days we spent there was perfect - the room, the bed, the food and the service. Would definitely recommend and will be going back despite the price.

    « Lovely stay! »

Such a lovely hotel to stay in :) We stayed here for one night whilst visiting relatives in Cambridge. We were only there the weekend and didn't have time for the spa :( Apparently it is good- maybe next time! The room was lovely, the staff lovely. Would visit again.

    « Long weekend break »

Only a short drive out of Cambridge, and worth it. Rooms are all to a high standard, the restaurant offers first class food and there is a good bar menu as well. Service throughout was excellent - all of the staff were friendly and welcoming while also being professional and efficient.

    « Sound and comfortable »

Having stayed here before I knew the basic choices in accommodation and went for one of the more spacious rooms in the courtyard barns. Room was fine and an excellent benefit is the use of the sport centre with its very good pool and facilities. Its fair to say the sport centre change room needs a smarten up but otherwise good. Breakfast was fine, dining rooms rather awkward configuration. Plenty of parking. Reasonable value. I am amazed how many reviewers book a hotel without seeing the location, this hotel is about 6 miles from Cambridge. I would stay again.

    « Cambridge Quy Mill »

Generally good service and standard but check whether they are holding a function on a Saturday night. The level of noise is totally unacceptable. On complaining was moved to a cold soulless room although it was quiet! Breakfast and bar meals good though expensive

« Off the beaten track »

This hotel was a mixed bag for me. It's one of those place that's been updated and extended bit by bit over a period of time and some of the updates just clash and create a strange vibe or atmosphere. Check-in was a pleasant experience - fast with no issues so got to my room in a matter of minutes. The room was quaint, to say the least. In the original part of the hotel, the room had a a four-poster bed and a very small TV. The bathroom was very outdated, but served its purpose. The room had a great view. The bar in the hotel was the worst I have been in - zero atmosphere with very few patrons. I was on my own on most occasions, and because of the location of the hotel, getting into town wasn't easy and always requires a taxi. The staff were friendly though. I ate in the restaurant which was really surprising as it was excellent. The food was almost fine dining, well presented and tasty. I wouldn't stay here again as it is too far away from town and the was extremely quiet.

« The rest we needed »

We stayed at the BW Quy Mill on our wedding night. It was the perfect hotel for an escape from the excitement of our wedding, and provided the restful, relaxed yet caring atmosphere we wanted combined with enough quality touches to make the experience special.

« Not the best, Western »

Too expensive for what it is - drinks prices out of order. Too far from Cambridge city centre, a point lost on me when booking. Captive audience to some extent so had to eat in the overpriced restaurant. The cooking was ok but as it purports to be fine dining I would expect much better. Noise from A road was intrusive also in a room costing £85 the night

We often stay in Best Western Hotels and found this to be one of the best. The room was a good size, lovely and warm and the fixtures and fittings seemed quite new and very clean. We used the restaurant twice and found the food to be first class. The meals weren't cheap But they were worth every penny. We will make this hotel our first choice If we ever stay in Cambridge again.

    « Enjoyable stay »

The hotel and amenities were good, friendly smart staff and the food was good. Only issues were the water pressure and temp in the shower, plus the WIFI signal in the room was non existent. Other than this great!

    « really quite good... »

There are lots of good things about this place - its actual fabric is good, a converted mill (with extant waterwheel) and newly-built but stylishly ambient wood/stone outbuildings which house lovely rooms and - in the largest - the pool, gym, spa etc. Everything is well-decorated and furnished, and the restaurant and bar are no less attractive. The staff are without exception delightful; all very young (and could thus possibly do with some minimal hotel & leisure-industry curriculum; little things get overlooked and then start to stack up when they're busy ) and eager to please. The food is generally quite good, and relatively reasonably priced. My only reservation is that the hotel is adjacent to the busy A11 and a roundabout, so that traffic noise was almost constant (and throughout the night), whether in my room - in the main, 2-foot-thick-walled building - or outside in the otherwise very pleasant grounds...

    « Good afternoon tea »

Booked an afternoon tea for my friend's birthday. We had a really lovely tea and even though I was very fussy as pregnancy hormones meant I couldn't stomach the smell or taste of chocolate, they accommodated this without any problem for me and gave me a slightly different selection of cakes. There was one cake which was dry and tasteless which is why I haven't given 5 stars, but the tea, sandwiches and rest of the cakes were lovely.

« Hotel and spa great restaurant not so! »

Lovely hotel and spa best price via came in £70 cheaper than the hotel direct for a one night stay.We stayed in a suite to accommodate our little boy this cost an additional £40 as they were unprepared to let him stay in a double room and sleep in our bed. I'm sure the upgrade was worth it but it was something we would have rather not paid. The original price quoted directly from the hotel was £157 as this was the only type of room available being a suite-bearing in mind i was only booking for two adults at the time and no child. mysteriously had a double room available at a rate of £89 we later added our son to the booking with a £40 surcharge making the total £129- I very much doubt that 'they had no other rooms available' based on my experience with the hotel direct. The spa was lovely with a clean well kept pool. The restaurant was another experience.....breakfast was tasty but overpriced.....£16.95 with the hotel direct and surcharges of approx £5 for anything out of the ordinary...we paid £12.50 via and no charge for our son which was a plus point. The etiquette and staff were both good and friendly although the drinks service in the restaurant was really slow. A good choice of wines including more prestigious available by the glass including champagne which was a bonus. The meal however was another matter....described as 'fine dining' it just didnt cut it and was NOT GOOD VALUE AT ALL!! although not a fussy eater i do know good food and all three courses were pretty tasteless and not cooked well. I could of cooked better myself by far.I would consider staying at the hotel again but would not eat at the restaurant again in a million years!!!

« Great restaurant and the rooms are nice too »

If you're thinking of staying in Cambridge this might be a great choice. It's about 6 miles out of town but the prices are reasonable in comparison with what you're likely to get for money in the City centre. I've stayed here a few times over the last four years and each time has been really friendly and positive. This visit was no exception. The rooms are all fairly new and the hotel as a whole has some character. There is a really well-equipped gym and - assuming you've burned off enough calories - there is an excellent menu in the restaurant. I stayed for one night on business and all aspects were very agreeable, especially the fact they serve Newcastle Brown ale in the bar - an excellent addition to any selection of beers!

« Stayed over after wedding »

A good friend was getting married and this was a perfect location with a short taxi ride to the venue. We booked 2 rooms, they were well equipped and not noisy which was a bonus. Breakfast was buffet style and very good. A good hotel for family and friends

    « Average at best »

This is a pretty average motor hotel slightly outside of The Cambridge loop road. Price was pretty high but not out of line for Cambridge. The room we stayed in was in the older building. The room itself felt a little dated but the en suite was large and well appointed but the tub/shower was strangely placed. Breakfast was below average and breakfast service wasn't very good. Overheard one server when asked for more toast essentially told the table that it was on the sideboard so get it yourself. One breakfast's poached eggs had a strong vinegar taste. One weekend night was very, very noisy in the room with some event with music playing.

« Great value for exceptional hotel (hidden gem) »

I was told that the Best Western has high end hotels in European- although considered a budget hotel in the U.S. The Quy Mill is a very nice hotel given the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the accomodations and surroundings.

    « Lovely hotel »

A little bit difficult to find due to being down a country lane parallel to the motorway- not lit at all? Hotel entrance and staff were very welcoming. Accomodation was in a wooden type chalet which was very comfortable and clean but flooring/carpet was very noisy when you walked on it?? Very odd Didn't use the pool but breakfast was excellent. Location to Cambridge was very good as just up the road for Park and ride. Food in the bar was excellent but did feel that the drinks were expensive. Would stay here agin Excellent pub five minutes up the road

    « Disappointed »

Disappointed that upon arrival ( group of 10 people) staff were unsure if they could serve us the lunch menu as they had other functions taking place. We had arranged this a time of booking. However when lunch did arrive it was good. Evening meal disappointing. Crab fish cake not tasting of crab and poached egg very tainted with vinegar. Excessive wait for main course approx one hour fifteen minutes from ordering. One of our party ordered Tornados Rossini which was tepid. He pointed this out to the waitress who said ' you should have said something earlier' no real apology offered. In the main the rest of the staff were very pleasant. My Sea Bass and my wife's was quite over cooked and dry. The bed of potato was swimming in water. All in all disappointing for what it cost. Will not be rushing back

    « Disorganised chaos »

Inability to book the restaurant as a resident not helpful when this hotel is so far from the city. Breakfast was so slow that it was almost lunch. The bars are without any ambience and the service is very slow. This place, in my opinion, is poorly managed.

    « Delightful weekend »

After initially being disappointed by the reception area to the hotel and problems booking in, we went on to spend a few very pleasant nights here. I could not fault the room as it was immaculately clean and had everything I needed. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. Looking forward to a return visit.

« Pleasant environment for an Hotel »

After finding my way down a long and winding track I saw the sign to assure me that i was still heading in the correct direction. Once at the hotel which is an old house and some converted barn. The facilities are good and I particularly enjouyed the use of the leisure centre. Breakfast was excellent and the buffet offered a good variety. Cooked breakfast had to be ordered. I would stay here again
