Je m’inscris Worst hotel experience of my life! The tip of the iceberg was when I was injured by a defect in the flooring around the hot tub in the room. When I reported it, to “Serrit” and other employees, no one did absolutely anything to investigate the problem to prevent it from happening again to future guests or to help me in any way. Didn't ask if I was ok, give me a bandaid or even offer me a mop to clean up the blood from the cut caused by their negligence , NOTHING! / I had to get on my hands and knees to clean it up myself. Then to add salt to the wound, they charged me almost $40 for blood damage to a linen/ blood spilled caused from hazards in their “hotel”. Imagine how much they would charge a female if she had a “nature” occurrence during her stay. I travel to this area several times a year on business but will never stay at this hotel ever again under any circumstances. The entire staff is extremely unprofessional. Especially the previously mentioned woman who claims to be the manager, I think her name is “Serrit” who speaks to the other employees and guests in a rude condescending manner. Linda also claims she the manager( uses a business card as proof) and says Serrit is not in any way the manager but she obviously doesn't care how bad Serrit behaves because she did absolutely nothing to change it when most responsible managers in the hospitality industry would terminate a person who treats guest as such. One morning, a few days before I was injured on the property by faulty flooring transitions, around 9am , with the don't disturb door hanger on, the front desk person entered my room unannounced while I was sleeping. I had decided to take a power nap after showering and heading out to work so I was in all my glory, luckily the swing latch was on preventing her from entering completely but not from waking me abruptly and causing me grave embarrassment. They obviously thought I had already gone to work and her excuse for entering was that “the manager had ordered her to follow up on the housekeepers responsibilities even though that not being part of her job description”. I definitely made sure not to leave any valuables or personal items out after that since they allow employees to enter guests rooms when they think we're out for the day. The entire experience was so bad I will also never stay at any Best Western affiliate since they allow this atrocious place to operate under their banner!. Again, They have employees who say they are the managers that I reported the problems too but then a completely different person with a business card showing she is actually the manager did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation either Not one person at any time apologized for what happened or offered any assistance in any way. Whatever is going on between the “managers” and how much the staff hate them as well as certain guests , a guest should never have to suffer or even be able to notice or overhear this unprofessionalism in any establishment, especially not one where hospitality is the basis of the business. Unfortunately, I had to use the computer and printer( which they keep less than 10 sheets of paper in, then only resentfully give 3 more when asked ) for business throughout my stay and repeatedly witnessed this behavior since the “business center “ is merely a table set up in the lobby about 10 feet from where people check in/out. This is just a taste of dozens of things wrong with my stay. I could probably write an entire chapter in a book describing all the other things that made the stay horrible. Had a room been available somewhere else nearby I would have left sooner than I did. Out dated , cleanish looking but horrible musty smell like they mopped the floors and wiped things down with used cleaning water. The ancient locks still use a magnetic strip key to enter. I and other guests had to repeatedly have new key cards often several times a day. The front desk clerk said” I get so tired of doing this all day every day, I wish they would go back to the traditional metal key system”. After front guests for “mishandling the key card and demagnetizing the strips “ in a variety of ways, they were very shocked to learn when I informed them most hotels upgraded years ago to the chip cards eliminating the magnetic strips getting demagnetized. He couldn't understand why the hotel he worked at hadn't done the same since it was such a huge ongoing inconvenience for the guests and staff. Hmm. Good question?! There's an amazing ATV trail nearby bringing fun loving guests to the hotel every night. However, all the employees absolutely say they can't stand the people who I assume are the bread and butter of the establishment. One employee literally told me “ they are awful people, leaving cigarette butts all over the parking lot to clean up and constantly tracking in mud to be vacuumed and swept several times a day” . Not only did they complain to me unsolicited about other guests but every time I was in the lobby using the “business center “ I could overhear them complaining to each other how awful the ATVers are and how they couldn't wait for the trails to close. They also complained often about how “ demanding and bitchy” the two wedding parties were being when competing for hotel resources with the ATVers. Is there a shortage of hotel resources prohibiting all guests to get what they paid for when booking. All the flooring is hazardous. The transition is rough enough to cut feet from tiled areas to laminate. The bed is on wheels that don't lock down on uncarpeted laminate flooring so the bed rolls everywhere getting in or out of it and even when rolling over during sleep. There is a huge step up that I saw many people trip on trying to bring their luggage into the checkin area. I could not find any inclined area near this entrance closest one I could see was an estimated 50 yards away. The ladders to get out of the pool are unstable and weak. The pool area floor is slimy which makes it extremely slippery when exiting the pool or hot tub. It was almost impossible to walk over to the towel shelf from the water exits the floor was so slippery. The continental breakfast was exactly the same every day. However, some days the preparation of the same exact items as the day(s) before was much less desirable. Only had 2 choices of bread for toasting , no bagels, English muffins, etc. The same 2 generic loaves, one white , one dark, was so stale on day 1 it practically turned into croutons after toasting yet was never replaced with fresh bread once during the 13 day stay. Occasionally, the scrambled eggs were edible but most days they were soggy or rubbery. I found tater tots a whimsical choice for a breakfast potato but yet again some days they were edible but other days undercooked and cold in the center and some days so overcooked they were too hard to get a fork into. Very inconsistent preparation. My final attempt at having breakfast there was when the sickly looking prep lady came in opened the plexi door to stir the food then coughed and hacked all over the food/ I literally saw chunks of spittle spray the wet scrambled eggs. I immediately disposed of my food and got breakfast nearby on my way to work everyday afterwards. There is a smell of urine immediately getting out of the vehicle in the parking lot. The smell permeates throughout the property, slight in some areas, horrendous in others, almost unbearable at times in the hot tub and pool area. The ladders in the pool are so unstable I felt like they were going to get pulled into the pool when I climbed them to get out. There is not a ramp or stairs to exit like in updated hotels with modern facilities.
This Hoel has seen a lot of wear and tear. Our room was very musty smelling, the bathroom was very worn and grimy. The TV was comically tiny. The walls are thin and noisy. The amenities are much more worn than pictured as well. We felt fairly deceived by the state of this hotel versus what was advertised. I'd recommend staying elsewhere until they renovate.
This hotel is a good clean comfortable place to stay after a long days drive. Room was especially clean and quiet. This is not a luxury hotel but it provides good value for the modest cost of the room. The staff was great from checkin to checkout. Breakfast, although limited, was certainly adequate for the start of a day. One of my pet peeves is when the hotel leaves out the bagel, cream cheese and hard boiled eggs but this is not a deal breaker. Just something this hotel could add to match other similar franchises.
The room we were given smelled strongly of mildew or mold. We asked to be moved to a different room and the clerk took us to three other rooms, which all smelled strongly of something unhealthy. We settled on the fourth room, which wasn't odor free but it was the least offensive. The noise traveled easily through the walls and doors. We were woken up several times in the night. We could hear the couple in the room above us having intercourse from start to finish. Happy for them but creepy for us. The room was in poor repair. Things were worn down and old. On a positive note, there was great water pressure in the shower and the mattress was comfy!
The hotel is very dated and not very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful but the rooms were not very clean and the bathroom floor and baseboard were very dirty and dusty. The hotel was built in the 70's and it surely needs some updating and LOTS OF CLEANING. The rate that I paid was the highest of any hotels that I stayed at during my two week trip to WI/Iowa/ Mn area. It just was a poor value and I wouldn't recommend this to anybody...especially to a family with children. The main use of this hotel was for the dirty bikers that used the trails nearby. They are probably used to dirt and dust so this hotel might not bother them as much as other people used to cleanliness.
Everything went very well. We were just a tad early for our check-in but the staff got it done right away and we slept really good the night we stayed and the bed for me and my wife was not too hard or too soft. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Water pressure is not good in showers. Make sure you bring towels as they do not have enough for entire facility! Breakfast is same everyday. Location is great for UTV riding! Parking is great too! Perkins restaurant nearby needs more staffing
I use this hotel to go on ATV trips with my family. it is easy access to downtown and the downtown restaurants and there is a very good Perkins restaurant right next-door. The staff has always been friendly and the hotel provides a discount for people that come in ATVs. The amount of hotels I go to where the pool or the spa have been closed it's heartbreaking. this property has never let me down once the pool and spa is always opening and clean!!!!
This hotel was not as clean as I hoped for. Dirty carpets, bathroom not well cleaned. I did however appreciate the staff and how helpful they were. Lounge area was nice. I was expecting a menu in the lounge but there was only fried food available. The food was ok.
This is an older hotel but it is very well maintained and clean. We used a handicap room and it was very spacious with a clean rolling shower. The pool and hot tub are very inviting. The hotel caters to off-roaders, boaters, and motorcycle riders. As a motorcycle riding group we've always been well taken care of.
the only problem was that the floor was filthy, it looked ok but our socks were very dirty from walking on floor in room. otherwise it's an ok hotel the tv's are too small and the balcony was dirty and the chairs on balcony were dirty also. we stay here every july.
Don't believe the price you are quoted!! Get everything in writing and be prepared to be lied to. Worst experience in 50+ years of traveling. I would not stay at this hotel if they paid me. Plenty of other hotels within a few miles that I would strongly recommend staying at versus this hotel that will lie to you and add additional costs to your bill. They raised my room rate over $50 with NO notification, they just added it to my bill.
We were side-by-side the trails were right by the hotel and very good service. Breakfast was awesome.
We travel between Duluth, MN and Chicago, IL frequently to visit family. When a full day of driving isn't an option, we will sometimes make half the drive and then stay somewhere about halfway between. This hotel has become our favorite stop. The whirlpool suite with two Queens is our favorite room. It's always clean, the beds are comfortable, the staff is always friendly, their continental breakfast is well kept and has a decent variety of options (including waffles). The wifi seems solid, and parking is no hassle. The jacuzzi is great for sore legs and backs from driving; we grab breakfast and then head down to Revolution Coffee for some really incredible coffee before hitting the road. We stayed this last weekend again (June 2024) and were not disappointed. The *only* negative I can say is that in some places where they do repairs in the walls, etc -- it's not done particularly well. This is only a visual and doesn't bother me at all, but it can make it seem a little more run-down than the place actually seems to be.
Spent one night in June 2024 here while traveling with friends on the way home. Older property that has been upgraded in the lobby and a little elsewhere. The front desk was very courteous and receptive, the lobby area is super, there is a pool and hot tub in a neat large room area. The hotel offers a full bar and lounge and a morning breakfast that is good. The rooms are a bit dated but clean, definitely worked out for our stay. Close to shopping needs and restaurants in the area. A Northwoods supper club not too far away that was worth the visit. I would stay here again.
The smell was horrible. It was the same smell throughout the halls and room. The stairway was different, that reeked of vomit. The sheets didn't stay on the beds. Half the towels were yellow and thin. The floor was filthy. You could smell the grease from the bar throughout the entire first floor.
We love staying here on our way through to Indiana and on our way back! Hotel is clean. Staff is friendly. Always arrive to late for the pool, and we wake to late for breakfast. This hotel is a great place to stay. Can't pass it up. First time we stayed here was 4 years ago. We said when we came through to go to Ohio again, we would stop and stay again and we did just that!
This is an older Hotel that has been kept updated. If you are looking only at fancy, this is not for you. This is good value for the money. Good food (Pizza was awesome) Breakfast simple but great. Comfortable room, clean indoor pool, clean workout room, friendly down home people. Great scenery and place for dogs.
Woke at 2:30 AM to a VERY loud car music party, I guess. Doors slamming in hallway, in and out of hall. I called police to ask them to come and make them stop. It took a while, due to being in the middle of nowhere. Asked at desk in the morning for compensation, and was told they could do nothing, I'd have to call. I called and had to leave a message, and got no response back as of now. I stayed May 8
Staff were friendly and pleasant to work with. Overall condition of the rooms were clean and comfortable. Not satisfied with the pool being closed for repairs, not that repairs are uncommon but that there was no communication from the hotel prior to our arrival. There were 5 families with us that had brought kids along to enjoy the hotel stay. Arriving and finding that the area was closed resulted in some upset kids, and added stress to the weekend.
From truck/Rv parking, to a pool/hot tub, to a bar with apps… this hotel has it all! Fast food and a Perkins within walking distance if you desire more than pizza and apps from the bar. The hotel has a throwback charm to it (which I love) and all amenities are in good condition.
We stay at this property regularly. It has it all - a pool, hot tub, restaurant and bar all inside the hotel. It sits at the trailhead of some of the best ATV/UTV/Snowmobile trails in the world. The staff are superlative in their attention to detail, and the building is sturdy and quiet. We consider the hotel to be our Northwoods cabin, but whether you're vacationing or just using it as a waypoint, you will not be disappointed.
We were greeted so kindly and we loved how our hockey team felt welcomed by having a conference room available for the kids to play knee hockey. Very enjoyable weekend and so nice to have a bar and restaurant on site too.
Large room with comfortable beds. The breakfast offerings were spot on, especially the hot food. The staff is very friendly and willing to help in any way needed. The property is an old school two story building. My only complaint is that because of this, there wasn't adaquate places to plug in electronic devices. I use a CPAP machine and there was no outlet by the nightstand. Luckily I brought along an extension cord just long enough to reach as outlet.
Room was small, but clean. Good hot breakfast. Nice location. Next to ATV trails. I was overcharged for my room and when I brought it to the front desks attention they acknowledged it but said there was nothing they could do about it? I booked directly through the hotel.
The staff was kind. I felt bad for them because this building is in need of repair. Our first room had a busted bed and extremely moldy ceiling. Our second room the frig leaked water out the bottom all over our bags of clothes. The pool room ceiling is covered in black mold streaks. This building needs serious repairs period.
I have stayed at this hotel multiple times. it is always clean, the breakfast items are good and the staff is friendly. I did not use the pool but the people who were in there seemed to be enjoying it.
Stayed 2 nights for family wedding. Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was hot, varied and plentiful. Cons: room needed repairs- shelf falling off wall, sink drain wouldn't open- had to pry it up manually, toilet seat loose and almost falling off, balls of dust under bed, sticky substance on drawer pulls, could hear normal conversation from room next door. We paid $188/ night, which I feel was way out of line with these issues.
Hotel had a dated appearance and there were some issues with my stay. Staff was pleasant and did everything within their power to make it an enjoyable stay. Breakfast options were standard. Bar within the hotel had a nice ambiance, however the chairs around the bar were pretty low and could use an update.
Worst motel ever to stay at here in this area!! The owner was talking bad to the workers. Front desk manager was a hot mess. Just started and the lady at the front said she didn't show up on time. Water wasn't hot. Dirty motel all around.
Stayed for a hockey tournament. Staff was pleasant. Location was good. Bar and lobby were good to hang out with parents. The room was in really sad shape. Total state of disrepair. Felt like I needed a shower after I took a shower bad. Bed was in rough shape. The quilt in between the sheets was yellowish and pretty gross. Pillows were awesome!! If I had paid $39/night I would expect this. at 3 to 4 times that amount no way. We did have a second room that was in better shape although still not on par with best western standards in my opinion.
We've been visiting this hotel about twice a year for better than a decade. While there have been changes over the years, it's still a great place. I enjoy starting ATV and snowmobile trips directly from the parking lot, and the kids like to swim in the pool and hot tub. The Orange Moose Bar is comfortable, friendly, and convenient. The menu is not as extensive as it used to be, but is still adequate. The hotel management has made investments in recent years to maintain the property, and overall you will find it in good shape for its age, including new flooring and paint. There are a few maintenance issues but nothing atypical for a facility of this age. In summary, it's not perfect, but the Surestay Black River Falls hotel is our go-to when we are looking to get away and experience some leisure.
Lindsay and the staff were great. We stayed with a group for our hockey tournament. We had a good experience and felt like we got a good value for our stay. The onsite bar area and group meeting rooms were a nice place to relax between and after games.
Our room was beautiful, clean and fresh towels everyday without asking! Price was great staff was terrific would defiantly return. the view from out balcony was breath taking especially with the trees in full color. Will be returning.
We found the staff extremely friendly. Rooms were ready on time and very clean. Continental breakfast was delicious, many hot items. Hot tub was out of order but really did not apply to our stay. Would definitely stay here again. Beds were very comfy! Was full but quiet.
This was convenient to Bear Bogging Adventure and the trails. Everything was very convenient. We had a great stay. The breakfast was good and offered more than just carbs. The breakfast ended at 9:30 a.m., it would be nice if it went a little longer.
Very accommodating. Candy at the front desk was very helpful and went out of her way throughout our 3 night stay. We had 8 rooms rented. The hotel had great and close access to the side by side trails.
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Was a nice quiet stay and very comfortable. We stayed there for over a week and a half and with the exception of the refrigerator having issues, everything was excellent.
We stayed here for our wedding block and the staff was overly accommodating for our guests, making sure rooms were ready on time and helpful throughout the entire process. They even got us a card and a bottle of Champaign and upgraded us to the honeymoon sweet. I couldn't be happier!!
My wife and I have stayed here dozens of times on our way to and from our daughter in Minnesota. In years past this place was priced VERY reasonably but the rooms were a little dated. Still quite comfortable but dated. Lately they have upgraded their rooms and they are quite nice. Clean, well lit, and modern. The bathroom was really redone, not just a paint job and some patching. Front desk people were exceptionally nice and accommodating. You'll sort of notice how good they are. .
After struggling with my luggage to get to a handicap room on the second floor with no elevator, my wife was surprised to find a bat flying around our room. I don't mind sharing the bathroom with a few insects, but I refuse to sleep with a bat in my room. Have a picture to share if anyone wants it.
Very clean, plenty of parking & lots well lit at night. Friendly staff. Good location right off the Interstate. Casino is just 5 miles at the most from the hotel. ATV trail right off the parking lot with plenty of parking for your trailer.
Stayed here after a wedding near Black River Falls. No insulation in these rooms, so you could hear everyone walking/talking/showering and watching TV all through the night. The outdoor key-card didn't work, so anyone could walk-in at any time. The pool was gross and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time, plus the hot tub was broke, clearly had been for awhile ... (funny how that wasn't mentioned when we confirmed our reservation a few days prior). The lights from the parking lot were also SUPER BRIGHT, streaming right into the room. The curtains did not cover the entire window, so we tried to hang towels/personal items to prevent the stream across our faces. Just a nightmare. I would have drove the 2+ hours home had I known what was waiting for us at this hotel.
There was a couple option in the area and this was NOT a good one! Front office not very pleasant. Broken door on 2 entry ways so build was NOT secure at all Room door would not close unless you push hard Our coffee pot/microwave area had an 1/2" of dust all over it. Beds were terrible old & hard and mine squeaked like no other with any small movement! Overall the property was just very poorly kept up, I did not have large expatiations or new accommodations as this hotel has been there for a long time but the dirtiness is inexcusable. When we check in at 5PM there was a all the dirty laundry and garbage in the hallway leading to our room and after, this was by far the biggest turn off who wants to walk though other peoples dirty laundry and garbage to get to there room! I've worked in hotels many years and this was NEVER allowed, we took laundry and garbage out of each room to service rooms never left laying in hallway. & I'm in no way exaggerating at least a dozen or more rooms on the way to ours. Not to mention by the next morning all the rooms were swept out into the hallway and they never vacuumed the hallways the entire time we were there so there was dirt, hair and toilet paper scraps down most hallways.
Undoubtedly for the amount spent, this hotel provided, indoor pool, hot tub, non-continental breakfast, fast WIFI, and good sized room. The cleanliness was good, but the ice machine was only on one floor and located in a obscure location.
The location and amenities were excellent for my business trip. It was my first business trip since 2019 and after a three hour drive, I looked forward to a comfortable bed and a hot shower as well as a good place for dinner. This met all three.
Hotel was simple clean and good for a quick stop on my way to Minnesota. i was coming in around 3:00am and Iva was able to give me a reasonable rate for only 6 hours of sleep. Note to the management: Give the third shift some flexibility when. the hotel has 4 cars has 150 vacancies and some poor slump is just trying to get some sleep in the middle of the night and needs a $60 room without getting someone on staff in trouble. This is review for the third shift that probably never gets any praise. Thank you Iva.
Stayed for 3 days here because we were there to be there for my grandma while she was going to pass away. She left us yesterday to be with her husband! There was mold all over the door frame in our bathroom at the hotel. I own a remodeling business and I know that it has been that way for quite a while without being treated or taken care of and fixed. I would've never stayed 3 days there if I would've noticed it sooner but I will definitely not be staying there again. I have been a best western rewards member for probably 4 years now and stay in your hotels very often. Definitely not happy about my experience at this location!
I have stayed at this property multiple times and always had a good experience. On this trip my room was upgraded due to my Diamond Select status. The TV wasn't working and the front desk sent a maintenance man to my room immediately who fixed the problem quickly. The lounge is comfortable with good bar appetizers and friendly bartenders.
2 tour buses were there people smoking everywhere staff did nothing. People coming in middle of the night yelling, laughing, music blaring again nothing done. Hotel caught on fire at 1:00 am everyone sent outside understandably but 35 degrees for 2 hours nothing done to assist customers some had no shoes coats some had babies it was terrible we were not given any updates on what was happening. When I asked for a refund was told no ! Asked for what !!!I never write reviews but I can't believe nothing was done for any of it and no refund offered !!!!!!
Bad all around experience . .price way to high for room condition, amenities . . unknowledgeable and crabby management, many things broken in room and bath, mold growling in plain site in bath room, very, very loud music in (nice) bar and sitting (nice) area causing us not to have to leave site and go elsewhere for our drinks and food . . main reason we stayed was cuz of bar / food area so we didn't have to leave site.
We stayed for 3 nights. Thursday- Sunday morning. The first night there was an odd smell, but I couldn't place it. Then we got random whiffs of a urine-like smell. Our shower had no hot water. I assumed it was from so many guests using it. Didn't work the next night either. We didn't have one of the door hangers that asks for privacy. No problem, I thought if I didn't hang out a privacy sign, they would come in to take the trash, etc. Nope. Nothing. The walls are thin. The door has a gap in the frame, and everyone in the halls all night kept us up. Which didn't matter, because the constantly running toilet kept us up too. I kept having to mess with the chain in the middle of the night. The back of the toilet is GROSS, but we really needed to sleep at least a little. We are tired. We feel gross. We hated the hotel. The only saving grace was that a couple of the staff were nice. When we checked out this morning the gal wasn't as nice. She barely said a word, and could have cared less. Next year I would be smarter to just sleep in my truck.
Good sized room and was clean. Had nice places to sit outside and good access to the ATV trails. Hair dryer didn't work and the hotel ran out of towels the 2nd night. Had to use towels from the swimming pool. Dead lock was broken on the door. Breakfast was a brown bag with a prepackaged burrito and yougurt. Other wise there was cereal, fruit & a few other things. We chose to go out for breakfast. Orange Moose bar/restaurant was only serving frozen pizza. They said their fryers were broke down. I would stay again but I would keep those things in mind.
Hotel has super positive, kind staff, clean rooms and a great location! It's within easy driving distance of downtown, and has easy access to dining, Lake Wazee, and the highway. Hot breakfast and other options were available with pleasant staff cleaning and refreshing options.
Easy check in, clean rooms. The onsite bar had great atmosphere. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone needing a hotel in Black River Falls. We will be back!
Great location. Very convenient to the highway and the casino! Lots of things to do in the area around Black River Falls. We drove down to the Lacrosse Queen and took a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi. Took about an hour to get there and lots of great scenery along the drive and the river cruise itself.
This is the first time we stayed in Black River Falls in a long time. The breakfast was very good. There were scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausages, coffee, milk, juices, toast, waffles, etc. We didn't use the pool & actually didn't even look at it. The rooms are arranged differently at this hotel. All the even numbers are on one wing & all the odd numbers on the other wing.
This hotel is very outdated. Has many rooms with double beds only. The pillows we had were flat, the mattress uncomfortable. There is an old grease smell throughout, especially near the bar, lobby, halls, and pool area, which made us nauseous. There not enough here for the area or are booked so the prices seem to be high for the quality.
The rooms were very clean and neat. The breakfast was hot and very delicious. The area is very peaceful and beautiful. I have no complaints. There is even an Amish store with lawn ornaments across for a little shopping. Will definitely stay here again!
Overall, nice clean place to stay when ATV Trail riding in Wisconsin! Diligent staff ready to remedy any concerns and staff at front desk friendly and courteous. If Rachel is working - she expresses a larger than life smile making you feel welcome and friendly. I am sure once this COVID stuff is over and they can be back to normal (as pre Covid) the hot breakfast buffet may return? Coffee is always on, and after it sits too long staff is willing to always brew a new one for you!! Laundry service in the basement worked great and soap can be found at the front desk at a small fee. When ATV riding this is a must!!
Overall this hotel could use major updates, face lift, DEEP CLEANING. Our floors (linoleum/snap wood) were gritty and dirty feeling. Sheets were scratchy. We were on the “garden” level which I think was code for basement and it felt pretty dungeonlike.
This was probably once a very nice resort type of facility but it has been neglected. The mattress dipped into the middle, the bedding was stained and torn, and it just had a shabby appearance and feel. The Bestern Western name attracted us but did not live up to our expectations of a Best Western facility. This has made us a little wary going forward of trusting that any Best Western will meet certain standards.
Arrived at 3PM. When I approached the desk, the clerk asked if she could help me. When I said I wanted to check in, she immediately told me that check in was at 4PM. After working in the hotel industry, I know that 1 hour earlier shouldn't be a major issue, so I just stood there and waited for her to check us in, which she did. My daughter and I both had reservations. When I asked if we could be close together, I was told probably not since they had a full house that night. When she looked at the reservations, she said we were actually right across the hall from one another (I was just hoping for same general area). When she checked me in, all of a sudden there was no registration sheet printed for my room. After my daughter checked in, we were no longer across the hall but on separate floors! Room was very clean and upkeep was good. Older hotel, but I knew this because we used to stay there when my children were small. Very nice experience in the bar, wonderful bartender/waitress. Would have rated higher if not for the initial impression from the desk clerk.
Building exterior was nasty - cigarette butts, garbage, old leafage and dead grass, dead shrubs. Entries were not clean - cobwebs, dirty glass doors. Thin walls. Toilet stains. At least room was comfortable - except for the nasty stain on the comforter (which I did not use).
Very friendly staff, room was recently updated, very clean, quiet and comfortable! Morning hot breakfast was very good plenty of choices. Nice bar, pool and hot tub! Highly recommend to anyone needing a room in the area.
Very tiny room. There was a damp musty smell in the room. Went to make a cup oaf coffee and on the INSIDE of the coffee maker there was a pile of dust and dirt. took it to the desk clerk. she said she would clean it. Said we would not accept the same one back at all. I know that the hotel wasn't full, so I don't know why she couldn't have grabbed a clean one from another room. The bed was horrible. Was not a good experience.
We were on our way back home after picking up a puppy. This hotel was just what we needed for one night of rest. The room had a tile floor just in case of accidents and had easy exit to outside. Just request extra towels when you go cause the room only had 2 bath size so the second person to shower had wet towels to use.
Unique hotel near casino and ATV trails. The staff welcome you and check you in quickly. The buildng is solid...so very quiet. It's a unique place...glad we stayed here. Breakfast includes hot items. Near Perkins which was above average. Frienfly staff.
The good- the lobby was nice and updated, staff was friendly, and the bar had good food and drinks. The rooms appear updated... That's about all I can say. The bad- boy this place needs help... the exterior seemed dated, and there's no signage for what the building is or where you're at (thank you gps). There's a pole for some reason right in the middle of the doorway to the hotel and nearly ran into it. That has to be a lawsuit waiting to happen. Next the room I was in was not clean: bathroom smelled like urine, the shower head was clogged and gross, the bathtub stopper doesn't work, the shower liner was stained. How is a supposedly updated room this neglected? The mattress on the bed was the worst part, stained, noisy, and uncomfortable. If I had noticed that prior to sleeping I would've changed rooms immediately. Thankfully, my stay was only for one evening. Pretty disappointed as this place seemed nice online and had decent reviews. This place would get a 2 star from me only because the staff was great.
We had a suite with a gas fireplace, which was nice. The whirlpool tub did not work. We got it to come on for about 10 minutes. The jets were weak. After it went off, we could not get it to come back on. You could tell it was painted because it had spots worn to the original color. The shower was either boiling or freezing. I could not get it to a good temperature. I had it going at a good temperature and all of a sudden it started coming out cold. Truly a disappointing stay. There is not much to do in Black River Falls.
Place is convenient for jumping on the trail system. Has food nearby and gas too. Rooms were decent for what you paid. Bartender was lousy though. Other than that, we have been here quite a few times over the years.
We were very pleased with our stay at BW Plus. The lounge area was very nice and both breakfast, even though they had different presentation. One day a bag to go & on Sunday a hot diversified breakfast. The room was clean and tidied up on Saturday afternoon. The pool was open. Considering COVID, job well done.
The pool and Jacuzzi are open, the bar has a decent menu ( although they have zero gluten free items). The staff is friendly and helpful. They are dog friendly, which is a big reason I stay at Best Westerns. I will stay there again.
Amazing hotel. The property is beautiful, rooms were very clean and spacious, and the staff go above and beyond! Restaurant and bar was a plus. I will definitely be staying again when I'm in the area.
This was our 2nd stay and it was amazing! Candy checked me in fast and was so pleasant! Hotel room was cleaned to perfection and the heat was turned on for us so our room was nice and warm. We will definitely be back! Also Sharl, the AGM, is amazing. Although I have never met her, she is truly the face of this Best Western.
Front desk lady yelled at me violently when we were discussing how to use the virtual travel card best western sent me. Whole lounge and bar heard. It was embarrassing. This verbally abusive women ruined my experience and my husband and I refused to utilize the bar or restaurant to avoid this women.
No restaurant, hot tub, or UTV wash and the same continental breakfast choices every day. Bar was also under construction. Very disappointed from what it used to be around 10 years ago. Had friends come up for the 1st time and I felt horrible that I recommend this hotel.
The room was nice and had laminate wood floors which was a first for any hotel we stayed in. The shower was nice and hot, and the beds were very comfy. I liked that it was pet friendly and close to Wazee Lake. The boardwalk by the pond had a lot of goose poop. We did have some trouble using my free night voucher, but it was resolved by the time we left. Breakfast was good too!
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years and have always enjoyed the stay. Any staff we have encountered have been polite and helpful. We highly recommend this as the place to stay in Black River Falls.
The hotel itself is fairly run-down, but the beds were very comfortable and the staff was great! We checked in late at night (11pm) and were checked in promptly. The A/C wasn't working in our room, but the staff was able to move us to another room where it worked perfectly. We accidentally left some belongings behind, and Candy at the front desk was phenomenal in getting us taken care of, communicating with us and other staff, and just being great to work with overall!
The motel is showing it's age on the outside, starting to look run down. The check in areas is fine, the staff was very kind and accommodating. The shower was gross as the water wouldn't drain and I discovered a hair ball clogging it. The bottom of the shower curtain had black growth/mold, etc... and was filthy. If the shower had been cleaned, they attendant would've notice the drain issue and the crud on the bottom of the curtain. The staff promptly put me in another room. If it hadn't been into the evening when I discovered the shower and curtain I would've moved to another motel, I'd already been in the gross shower and been exposed to who knows what. The next room was an upgrade and it was clean.
We had very friendly staff. The rooms are very clean. Location is great. The beds were so comfortable. Close to restaurants. Would definitely recommend this hotel for people to get the best value for the price of the room. Fran was always so sweet on the phone while I was planning my stay. Candy went out of her way to be helpful too
Hotel is in a good location close to the Highway, gas station, food and not far from the casino. Older hotel but clean and nicely decorated. Excellent breakfast. Small refrigerator in room and an extra sink/bar area in room with a mirror which is always nice. Friendly staff.
From checkin with Fran to having a drink in the lounge with Vicki, this hotel is great. The suites are big and very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel. The breakfast was you used to having, but it was good.
We stay here quite often and have a contract for the suite at the business rate of $69.00 a night. We love this property. The location is great for our needs. However this time when we arrived, after a 4 hour drive, the clerk at the front desk insisted on arguing with us that we don't have a contract for the suite at the business rate. We asked her to check our past stays. SHe wouldn;t. We asked her to check with the manager and was told the manager was on the property but she didn't know where. When I confronted her and told her I didn't appreciate attitude she went to the back room and came out and told us she will do a one time curtosy upgrade. We asked to speak to the manager again and she refused to contact the manager.
Our family held an overnight holiday gathering at this hotel. From the first time I called the hotel to inquire about availability and prices, I was so impressed with the level of customer service that I received. I called multiple times to ask questions and confirm details, but each time was treated with enthusiasm and suggestions. The event room we used turned out to be perfect and everything was set up exactly as promised. The staff made sure to check in with us to ensure everything was what we wanted. We found the same great service from the bartender as well as any employee we came in contact with. We hope to meet there again!
My issue is that we were there for 7 weeks. We called and spoke to Nitzy before booking our stay and we were told that they had a nurses rate of $40 dollars.. my husband said his wife and kids would be traveling with him and she said she could upgrade us to a king suite for $50... we checked in and everything was going great. We were in that room for (I think) 5 weeks and things were perfect. Then it was mentioned that they had bigger suites that we should look at and that's when everything went downhill. After realizing we couldn't afford the price that was given to us, we asked if we could either move back to the room we were originally in or to a smaller room. Nitzy again quoted 40 for the smaller room and 50 for the original room... the day comes for us to move and we were told that we had to pay 50 for the smaller room... ABSOLUTELY NOT. You gave me the upgraded room for 50 dollars for 5 weeks. We were/are LOYAL customers... not anymore. Best western management screwed us. Our total stay was gonna be over $6000. I could understand the rate change for the smaller room IF the hotel was sold out but there was maybe 4/5 cars in the parking lot throughout our entire 5 weeks. (Aside from the weekend with the hockey players) management was trying to justify that they were charging $50 dollars because I'm an extra head in the room and they didn't know that we were gonna be with my husband, which is a LIE. We told Nitzy before we drove 18 hours from Texas, which is why she upgraded us to the suite. We tried to give every opportunity to make things right and they refused. We said we would pay 40 for the smaller room or 50 for the original room and they refused, so we walked. Crazy!! Every front desk staff backed our decision (except management). It doesn't matter if we moved rooms 100 times, we are the customers and you are not paying our bill, nor helping us move our things! Again, Fran, Iva, Candy, Dani, the breakfast attendant (I'm sorry, I didn't catch her name) were AWESOME. & thank you to Fran for doing the right thing and changing our rate back down after we stated that only by husband would be staying there for the rest of the week (until we finished moving all of our stuff). & thank you to her for pointing out that after 30 days we should no longer be paying taxes. She got the problem fixed right then and we truly appreciate it!! It's a shame she can't be the manager because she really seems like she knows what she's doing and has been in the business a while. Best Western, you lost loyal customers. You let $6000 dollars walk away over $10/night.
Several times a year I visit my father-in-law in Blair and stay in BRF at SureStay. The experience is always a pleasant one. The staff is friendly. The food is good and of good quality. I always sleep well. The staff will place you in a quiet location at your request.
Staff is friendly, I feel at home while being so far away from home. Cody is very useful with computers and was able to help me multiple times. The breakfast is excellent, better than the majority. Quick to respond to your need, whether with service or getting answers if they don't know.
The entire staff has been wonderful! Nitzie has always gone above and beyond to make sure we are happy and comfortable. The breakfast attendant is ALWAYS working hard. She is always coming in and making sure the items are fully stocked. And if my kids are with me she always makes sure there is something on tv for them. The housekeeping staff is wonderful as well. We are extended stayers and we also homeschool so we have our DND sign up a lot and we were told to just leave our towels and sheets outside our door and the housekeepers will take care of it. One morning the housekeeper even left us a very sweet note... I think her name was Dani? We are more than happy with our stay here and would recommend this place to anybody. They even have a nurses discount for the travelers. :)
The staff was extremely kind and nice to meet. They were what made the stay worth it. Was not really satisfied with the rooms. There were problems with sheets being gross and with water temperature taking a long time to heat up.
Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at a Hotel, and the breakfast!!! The best, ever in a Hotel, better than the breakfast we had to pay extra for in Minnetonka Mn. The quality of the items was insane for an inclusion on the room.
The Surestay Inn at Black River Falls, WI was exceptionally good. The beds were comfortable. The rooms, bathrooms, pool and hot tub were clean. Every single person on staff was outgoing. We will definitely be staying here again.
Scenic area near a family wedding, we so enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We were the only ones taking advantage of that amenity. Good pizza from the bar for our first night's supper. Great desk staff. We had a great stay.
My company was traveling on business. We were fortunate enough to find a best Western branded hotel. The staff in the hotel record your friendly polite and respectful. My entire company really enjoyed their stay.
The SureStay Plus Hotel in Black River Falls is probably our favorite hotel. The building is solid, comfortable, and quiet. It's on a beautifully landscaped parcel that includes a pond and boardwalk. It is generally well maintained and doesn't feel dated. The staff are very friendly, and the management has succeeded in retaining many of them for a long time. We visit this hotel several times a year and it's nice to see that the staffing of the hotel is not a revolving door. The pool and hot tub are a hit with the kids, and I really like the Orange Moose Bar and Grill. For recreation there is an ATV/Snowmobile trailhead right in the parking lot, and there is a casino a short drive away. Overall, this is a great facility that we consider our northwoods cabin. And, since changing from Best Western to Surestay, the rates have become more affordable.
very impressed with overall stay, easly asses from express way. high way signage very visible...Pool was clean and hot tub was working nicely. Family memebers were welcomed to use pool with not problems..Morning breakfast the best ive had in many years. as good as any cruise ship buffet. look forward to many more stay as familyl lives in black river falls,wi
Our stay was a nightmare. Was woke up at 5 a.m. both mornings with someone knocking on the doors and kids running in the halls banging on the walls. Was suppose to have 2 beds but only had 1 and the room was so small and crowded for 159.00 a night . We stayed last year for less and had a suite. Wr wont be back next year going to another motel. I cant believe you charge almost triple the price during the cranfest. That's not right at all.
Awesome front desk & breakfast staff, very clean, beds were a lil hard. Highly recommend and will be staying again next year. Awesome that the trails for 4 wheeling were so convenient as thats why we stayed..
We ran out of energy and decided to stop in BRF, were treated excellently by the front desk staff. They were very very friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome especially considering we had no reservation.
Convenient location off interstate. Front desk was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean, but dated, and could be refurbished; however, I was comfortable. Amenities (gas, food, coffee) all adjacent to the hotel. Bar/lounge option inside hotel.
Nice , Clean and very friendly hotel and town. Look forward to this place every time we are through Black River Falls. Would definitely recommend this as as great place to stay to all my friends and family
My first room was old and felt dirty and outdated. I moved to a king suite and it was much better. It feels like some wing of rooms are old and other wings are newer and nicer. Make sure you get a good wing and you will be fine. Bed is comfortable.
Great location, excellent bed and fantastic room service. But if your going to spend over $120 dollars a night you might want to try another hotel. Rooms are tiny and outdated. The place needs basic maintenance. Side entrance door was broke. And the room had a mil-dewy smell to it.
Room was very clean.. very shocked on how clean the bathroom in the room was.. very great breakfast and nice and helpful staff all the way around. Will most definitely stay again and again and again..
Good place to stay for going on an atv trip. The kids in our group had a good time playing pool and swimming after riding all day. Rooms were really nice and the beds were comfortable. Front desk service was polite and welcoming.
We got an excellent nights rest on a new mattress that had recently replaced the old one. The owner has been doing an excellent job keeping this aging hotel upgraded. The staff is very friendly and great to work with. The value we paid was better then we thought it would be. We were very surprised!
The rooms are spacious and clean Location is great--just minutes from stores, restaurants and activities. We gathered for a family reunion, and we will be back again next year. Thereiis a large meeting room that was available for us to bring in food and beverages and be together as a family
The location is top notch. Staff is very friendly. Clean and the continental breakfast is the best I have ever seen at a hotel. Can not beat the value anywhere! I visit a lot to see family and will always stay at this hotel.
My only real complaint is with the breakfast. Probably the worst one we had in our travels this year. The eggs were beyond bad biscuits were hard. I do believe they should take a good look at this problem.
This was the worst experience we've had in a hotel in 20+ years and we have stayed at Best Western Motels and Hotels all over the world! We assumed since it was a Best Western it would be ok, boy were we wrong. The place is s run down dump! Upon entering our room we immediately could smell a strong odor of mildew! The room looked unclean, run down and dank. My husband immediately went down to front desk to ask for a new room. He was told by the receptionist they were full up and didn't have any rooms available. We paid $156 for the room for the night. As the night went on I started getting a sore throat and my breathing was labored. In the morning we asked if we could leave a day early as our reservation was through the weekend and the receptionist told us, “yes absolutely, some of our rooms are pretty old and we've gotten some complaints about the smell!” She went on to say that she went into one of the mildew infested rooms and it gave her an immediate headache!”... Receptionist gave us a discount on our first night. Our rate dropped down to $98 and let us cancel the second night. At the time we thought it was fair but now that we're comfortably resting in our Cobblestone Inn & Suites which is clean, modern, and $60 less than the Orange Moose we are flabbergasted that we wouldn't have been given a complete discount. We found black mold too on the walls in the bathroom of our room. I'm including pictures to back up my review. This place is a complete dive! It's not healthy to stay there and I will he reporting them to the Health Department! It's BS they're able to get away with renting unfit rooms! Beware!!!
Was very nice. Very good price. Gave military discount which was very accommodating. Would highly recommend. Clean and nice pool, lounge, breakfast!! Beautiful scenery. Nice pond with nice trails and restaurants near by. Fishing allowed in the pond.
Stayed there 10 years ago. Hotel was aging then. Nothing but daily cleaning has been done since then. Mowing is only a fraction of the the groundskeepers job. Weeds and rogue shrubbery everywhere. They need to spend some $ and fix the place up, you'll fill it up again. They need to add USB ports to rooms bringing them into this century.
It was nice that the hotel is right off the ATV trail. We found the "lost" remote by the edge of the bed. The air conditioner sucked, the unit is older than dirt so only had 1 being cold 10 being warm. Breakfast was good but the cereal bowls should be by the cereal. It was alot of walking back and forth. Pool was fun.
I would honestly probably give this hotel a 2.5 out of 5 if the staff wasn't nice. Our room smelled terrible, the lamp shades, curtains and windows were filthy and there was nothing special about it. We went for a UTV trip so we weren't spending much time in the room so we sucked it up. It is right on the UTV trail and close to many amenities so that is nice. We did have continental breakfast which was alright and drinks in the bar were fine. Would probably take a lot of cleaning yo get me to stay there again.
This hotel is very nice and conveniently located to ATV/Snowmobile trails. It is also conveniently located to restaurants within a short walking distance; Perkins; Mocha Mouse; Taco John's, etc. There is a gas station that is very close to fuel up your toys. The parking area in the hotel is nice for those who have a trailer to haul your ATV's/Snowmobiles. With access to the trails, we parked the truck and trailer when we arrived and never moved it again until we left for the weekend. The hotel offers a nice hot breakfast in the morning with eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, juices, coffee, biscuits and gravy, etc. The rooms are nice and spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms is also nice and spacious with plenty of hot water for showering off the mud from the trails. The hotel staff is nice and friendly and overall is a very nice place to stay.
Everyone was so helpful for my daughters wedding! We appreciate everything that everyone did to make it just what she wanted! Thank you so much Jessica for all of your help! Highly recommend this place!
This used to be a nice hotel. I don't know what happened. No one smiled, but the cleaning staff. No one seemed to be excited to be at their job and happy to have a guest. The room was ok. The restaurant is gone. I do not plan on staying here again.
we had 18 people in our group, we reserved the rooms as a group block months ago and asked if we could all be near eachother, we were so spread out, my room the carpeting was soaked and it smelled with mildew
Front desk staff was AMAZING, quickly checking in our busload of people. Very easy to work with planning our group stay. Rooms were good, beds VERY comfortable. Staff was very accommodating, gave us access to a meeting room for us to congregate at night. For a free hotel breakfast, the food was really good! But...what detracts from everything, and would keep me from ever returning here (and forced me to recommend you avoid this place) was the breakfast staff. Both ladies working there were incredibly unpleasant, and Anita was downright mean and ugly to people, permanent scowl that let everyone in the room know she hates her job...and probably hates you too! I've never seen a customer facing employee that was so unfriendly and so unwelcoming. I did mention it to the manager...big mistake, as I got the look of death from Anita after that, then had to sit there and listen to her rant to the other breakfast lady about me ratting her out to her boss. Totally unacceptable behavior.
We recently stayed at this hotel for three nights in early June/19. It was “very reasonably” priced – a very good value for your stay. If you're looking for a nice / safe place to stay in BRF, this hotel will suit your needs. The grounds and pond area are parklike / picturesque, and very nice to stroll around. It is located directly just off the Highway - a good location with easy access on, and off the highway – and quick access to downtown BRF (Main St). This hotel seems popular for some clients who bring their quads, and ride the connected nearby riding trails. For you golfers out there – it's about a 5 min drive to the local Skyline Golf Course – a great course, with good food & inexpensive beer - a must try !! There are a few restaurants in the immediate area / downtown - you'll have no problem finding somewhere close to dine. Next door to the hotel, is the Mocha Mouse – try it, you won't be disappointed. There is a restaurant / bar in the hotel also – but, only ate breakfast there. The breakfast which is included with your stay is simple, but good enough – the usual breakfast items / waffles that you make yourself, etc… - so no complaints. We had a king suite, with two rooms, on the main floor. It had a king bed, a sofa in a separate room, a good sized bathroom, a fridge and microwave. Everything worked fine, including the A/C, we had no issues at all. Overall, the bed and room was quite clean, quiet and comfortable. The front lobby was very accommodating, and very friendly. “Check In” and “Check Out” went very well – fast, efficient and no surprises. The staff here are hardworking, and always very polite / courteous. The Wifi here worked quite well – with no problems /issues at all facetiming home. The pool was warm, nice and clean – so, a positive note here. The lighting in the pool area at night is quite poor, maybe so you can't see the hot tub, which leads me to the only negative comment I have. The hot tub was the complete opposite of the pool – it was cold, and very dirty. I brought this issue to the attention of the front desk – they called in a “maintenance person”, who showed up quite quickly. However, it appears that all he did was turn on / up the tub temperature, as the tub was still dirty when I went back – and surprisingly, there were people in it !!. OK, I've maintained a pool for years – that hot tub needed to be drained, scrubbed cleaned, refilled and CHLORINATED. Testing it daily and/or on a regular basis might be a good start also. Lastly, I would rate the hotel as “very good” and an “excellent value” – and Yes, I would definitely stay here again Please enjoy your stay. – But, check the hot tub before you go in it !!
Amazing staff! All of the staff were so helpful and made sure the wedding went off witbout a hitch. Jessica, Marilee, Alex, Vicki, Ray, just to name a few were so wonderful and helpful. Thank you so much for everything.
Could do better. The room had a strange odor. The pillows had an odor, were a strange size and were very lumpy. I would ditch them and buy normal ones ASAP. Breakfast was OK but the breakfast room could use some clean-up.
Nice place, some unhappy people working there.and some nice people working there. Room was never cleaned between night stays. Had to ask for more towels. Breakfast included, better of walking across the street and pay to eat.unhappy workers in this area.
Marilee greeted us at the front desk, checked us in, and explained the merger with Sure Stay Plus when we asked. We have stayed at this facility many times in the past and the updates made by Sure Stay Plus were much needed. Their busy season had not started yet and being a Sunday night the restaurant was not open. Marilee was helpful with close by eating options.
Best hotel and staff of all the places I've been for business. Keep up the great hospitality and cleanliness! Front desk ladies are great. Very good continental breakfast and a nice relaxing bar. 10/10
This is a wonderful place to spend a few days or even your entire vacation. The staff is amazingly helpful in every way. I would greatly recommend calling the hotel directly to make your reservation. Ask for Lorenzo Jordan, he is a wonderful front desk employee who goes out of his way to make you feel at home. There is a lake located on the property that is beautiful. So, if on I-94 this summer and its time to stop for the day. This is a wonderful hotel to stop at. They have more than enough parking. Including parking for semi trucks.
I have driven past this hotel many times when it was a Best Western but never stayed here. When I saw it had changed names, I thought 'another one goes down the tubes' - but I couldn't have been more wrong! It is a little bit dated, however nothing that would make me want to go elsewhere. Marilee at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful and made me feel welcomed the minute I walked in. My room was clean, fresh and spacious and I couldn't have been happier. The location is perfect for travelers - just off the interstate with 4 restaurants and a gas station within a few minutes walking distance. An excellent value and I will definitely stay here again when I'm in the area.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the motel is dated but in good, clean condition and a great value. Breakfast was hot and tasty and different the two morning we took advantage of this. I will definitely be back in the future!
Serious ! Met by Marilee at the front desk, and we were ehausted after a twelve hour day driving. Both of us exhausted. Marilee was fabulous, very friendly, knowledgeable of her job. I ran a motel for 15 years and wish some of my staff were half the person she was. She upgraded us, and put me near the elevator and didnt' really even know I had some health issues relating to mobilty. Thank you
Love coming to the orange moose! Marilee is awesome, the bar is friendly, and pool super fun. Casino right down the road and the hotel is located right on the trails! Can't beat it. Great home feeling rooms. Comfy beds. Great breakfast. Got it all
after our first time not going as well as we hoped, we decided to give them another chance and they made up for the first time. My boyfriend and I were completely happy with our room, the service at front desk (Marilee) was so sweet and helpful, we got a room far away from any noise and enjoyed it so much we are planning to try a two-night stay and go for the entire weekend soon. thank you for making it up to us and for everything. Breakfast was FAR more than i expected and was delicious. thank you for everything :-)
Extremely friendly staff!! Loved that it's pet friendly. Though the pet fee seems a bit steep, $30 extra. Pool was pretty cold so we didn't use it. No restuarant in the bar area anymore. They do offer pizza and have several menus for surrounding restaurants.
I checked in on Friday with Marilee she was awesome! The place itself is somewhat dated but that was a non issue for us! The blow dryer didn't work and our shower head was broken and spraying water everywhere, the beds and room were clean though! This place is smack dab in the middle of some beautiful snowmobile trails. The hotel was very lenient on where we could park our SUV/trailer/snowmobiles super accommodating very big parking lot for tons of room for trailers and sleds! The selection of warm food in the morning for breakfast was also a plus. The bartender on Friday night was awesome too extremely friendly. What made this trip that much better was Saturday night hanging out with other sledders in the hot tub swapping sledding stories and just all around enjoying the vibes. There is a gas station right next to the hotel to fill up the sleds and direct trail access from the hotel parking lot!
Cousin reunion: Families coming from different directions we picked this hotel as a halfway point. Hotel could use some updates. Staff was super nice and helpful...especially Lorenzo. It was a good value for one nite. Our large group was happy with the space provided for us. Would use this hotel again.
I stayed here last summer on the way home from our cabin and again this winter. Since my previous stay the name changed from Best Western to SureStay. I got a single queen room this time because it was the best price. The room was small which was fine. I was o my there to sleep. The room was odd-shaped and the TV was to the left of the door as you walked in with the bed straight ahead so you had to lay on side to watch TV. But the price was great, the room was clean, and breakfast was decent. Will definitely stay again.
I liked the hotel. Chill vibe good people! And my girl Marilee at the counter was professional and friendly. Name our stay comfortable. It's good to feel like a regular m, being greeted by name every time you see someone feels goid!
This is a really clean hotel. The staff is nice. The breakfast was good. I really love that there is a pool and a bar with pool table and dart board. It gives you something to do while its cold and yucky outside like it was during our trpi.
We stayed two nights with my sons hockey team and had a great time! Management was great and took great care of all of our needs. The rooms were spacious and clean, internet service actually worked throughout the entire building, and the bar staff was great! My only complaint was the lady working at the breakfast area, she was by far the rudest service person I have ever dealt with!
This is a very old building but maintained...Very quiet in the room.We had a suite which overlooked the pond...its a busy area as it is by the ATV trails. the breakfast bar was great and offered variety, the hostess was an elderly lady who was absolutely the sweetest..she was asking everyone if they needed anything and thanked us all upon leaving.our suite was very clean and for the money it was a great place to stay.
The good: lobby fireplace, breakfast, ample parking, clean bed. The So-So: Odd wing rooms were small and dated (we moved to another room). Even wing rooms were nicer. Windows were drafty, carpet was stained from someone's ink pen. Pool was cold and unswimmable due to heater failure. Walkways were not cleared of ice and were not salted or sanded. Very slippery and treacherous. Outside building entry doors opened without needing / using keycards. Ice machine was very loud and disturbing, even with the hallway and room door closed. Building had a odd musty type smell. Was hoping for a nicer stay.
Only negative thing was mattress sagging on one side due to a broken spring. Other than that my experience has ALWAYS been excellent. I've stayed here many times in my travels. Black River Falls is always a main stop between MT and FL.
Staff was amazing. The breakfast was nice and hot!!!!The room was excellent!!!! Great parking!!!!! The hotel was located by a variety of places to eat.I definitely will be coming back when I pass through the area again.
Had another great stay here in black river falls. Stay here quite often for work and they always make me feel at home. Jessica and her staff are great. Great variety of rooms. Always clean and comfortable. Easy access to highway and ATV trails. Thanks
If you need a clean safe hotel on a budget, the 'Orange Moose' is a good solid option. If you're looking for amenities, like a working pool, reliable wi-fi, all-day restaurant etc. you may want to look elsewhere. Would have been nice to know the pool was out of commission (broken heater) before we arrived or at least when we checked in- the family (and our 5 year old) was very disappointed. They do offer a good breakfast buffet with many hot and cold items.
My wife was stopped by the front counter worker questioning if we paid for our dogs to stay in the room. She had to go back to the room and get our receipt to prove we paid for them. Lorenza the front counter worker informed my wife that we already checked out. Every time my wife went up front he gave her the stink eye and just stared at her. When I confronted him he told me he does not want to hear it and for me to talk to the owner. Talk about poor customer service. We have been coming here for 20 years and I do believe were done after this. We do not mind paying extra for our dogs but to be treated like this is just wrong. I cant even get them to call me back.
My husband and I stay here frequently because his Dad lives in nearby Blair so having a dependable place to stay is a great PLUS. This hotel is always clean and breakfast is always good. The rooms are small and very comfortable. The room price is a BARGAIN.
My stay was great!! Staff was helpful especially when I was carrying my son in his car seat their front desk manager assisted me with getting to my car safely. Great place to stay if you're passing through or needing them to host an event for you they are the best in town !!
This Best Western location was filthy, smelly, walls were dirty, dryer did not work, shampoo and conditioner bottles were crusty with SOMETHING, god knows what! The staff acted like they were in comas! Find any place else in the area to stay but this one.
When to check in Monday the room wasn't ready so Cheryl at the front desk made it happen she wouldn't personally cleaned my room so I could check in thank you ladies at the front desk always going above and beyond. Thank you, Richard
I have to say, if you are dealing with the stress of a breakdown and stuck, this would be the place to do it. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms and bathroom have plenty of room. The water pressure is great. All of the staff was friendly, upbeat & accommodating. Cheryl, Lorenzo and Amy are the staff I dealt with the most, they went above & beyond. They are truly pet friendly. There is a Truck stop on the property with fast food and a restaurant within walking distance. A bar with a pool table located next to the lobby. Nice views and walking trails. I'll be back for a vacation here!! Thank you for taking some of the stress out of my week!
This hotel has a large selection of rooms, free breakfast, indoor pool and some rooms have a whirlpool. The desk and breakfast staff are very capable and helpful. The breakfast menu has several choices and the lounge has a limited menu as well.
