    « Theatre Stay »

Conveniently located just a short taxi ride to the town centre. Reception staff helpful and friendly. Lovely sized room. Breakfast was adequate, though not the best breakfast I've eaten in a Best Western Hotel. Was not sure about whether the leisure facility was available to guests - perhaps this could be clearer.

« I wish I read these reviews before going! I got bitten all on my leg! »

I stayed for one night, got bite marks all over my legs and when I emailed the manager he said he could see something wasn't right and would investigate this only to be replied back with other people have stayed there previously and I have had no complaints, they removed the thick blanket I used as it was cold and then told me I. Almost every email we look forward to seeing you next week and I have a new room. I wouldn't expect them to tell me other people have had the same problem as that causes problems for themselves, however I don't feel they really cared and it's a shame as I said the location is great but the decor needs updating, most of the staff are friendly when there not on google searching for clothes and ignoring you. I would not recommend this place and has quiet frankly put me off staying in a best western ever again.

    « Best to avoid »

This hotel is really poorly run. The reception staff really couldn't care less and we felt that we were an inconvenience to them. Would not use this hotel again. Very tired looking and in need of complete refurbishment.

« Stayed to visit hospital »

Good value hotel though not quite the standard of other Best Westerns. Good, well lit parking. Enough spaces for all rooms. Staff very welcoming and helpful. No proper restaurant but nearby pub in Watermead a mile up the road is good. Good facilities for wheelchair user.

    « A good B&B not a hotel »

Having spent 3 nights here, we discovered to our cost that although it considers itself a hotel it sadly lacks the facilities of a hotel. It's 'restaurant' consists of 8 tables around a small bar, with a medium sized TV on the wall. The evening menu is extremely limited and our cod & chips were warmed through frozen cod fillets, frozen chips and a portion of mushy peas costing about £8.99 each. There was no lounge or anywhere to enjoy a relaxing drink before or after a meal. The decorator was painting some of the bedrooms and we almost walked on to his painting tray left on the floor, just the other side of corridor fire doors. Our bedroom was spacious and clean, although the decor was tired and the lighting dreadful. The breakfast, on the other hand was excellent with good service and the reception staff were helpful. Altogether this 'hotel' was overpriced and disappointing.

« Good looking externals hide tired inside. food adequate. »

Stayed in a standard double room - bed and breakfast. Door key was prepared at reception, but did not work - needed reprogramming by reception. Room adequate size with bath. Bathroom slightly dirty sealant behind sink for example. Hot water good from point of use heater located in cupboard in bathroom. Shower over bath hard to control temperature. Room very cold on arrival. Room heater from wall mounted cooler /heater blower. Could not get to heat room (stuck on cool -19 degrees) and after receptionist trying, was reset in plant room to allow us to warm the room. Furniture adequate but tired - traditional wooden wardrobe. Hairdryer and ice bucket in room. Ice machine in corridor worked well. Vending machine in corridor. Only enough coffee and milk for one person - one pack biscuits. More available at reception on request. Disturbance at night when two youths tried to get products out of machine. Called reception night staff but no response for 10 minutes, by which time they had gone. Room handbook tells guests to call reception in an emergency. On this evidence if other had been real emergency such as a fire we would have been in serious danger. Evening meal choice very limited some went out - steak, pasta or salad, fish & chips. Hotel supports delivery of Takeaway food to hotel! Breakfast adequate. Continental breakfast buffet. "Full English" as they described it was bacon, sausage, tomato (burnt) beans and fried egg served pre-plated. No scrambled egg option or mushrooms. Furniture reminded us of cafe. Hotel guests have use of the on site health spar for free but its a long walk across the open car park so not tested. Summary: adequate hotel. No excessive luxury and inside needs some TLC

    « A one night stopover »

Needing accomodation for one night in Aylesbury we trawled available hotels and chose this one by virtue of it's position close to the edge of town and adjacent to local major routes. It was perfectly acceptable for a short stay, say on the basis we did, or for business visitors wanting a convenient stopover close enoiugh to town but readily accessible. Accomodation is standard and acceptable for this type of stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast (additional charge) was perfectly satisfactory.

    « Dated and tired »

I'm glad I wasn't paying the bill for this over priced dated accommodation! Everything here is overdue replacement, it's like a trip back to the 70's. I had two awful nights sleep due to the noises from the air conditioner in my room even though it was switched off! Breakfast was ok apart from the out of date yogurt!! It's fair to say that as a regular visitor to the area I won't be coming back!

    « How Disapointing »

So many issues! Rude Receptionist, Rusty Curtain Poles, Smell of mould in the rooms, Wallpaper peeling off the walls, dodgy décor. I would highly recommend the Premier in two minutes walk down the road!

« Good value. Clean. Rude receptionist »

The rooms were very clean and well presented for the price paid. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable and the lady on the front desk was rude, unhelpful and abrupt. Any inquiry felt like a huge inconvenience to her. The breakfast room is very small and we were sent away as it was full.

« Great hotel but beds let them down »

Great check in, staff friendly, clean, but seem to be having a refurb, only issue was the beds, very hard, I know this is better than being too soft, but you just could not get comfortable, great price, good location, meals slightly over priced, would return.

« Yet another great stay »

Over the years we have stayed at this hotel numerous times and we have always had a very pleasant stay, our only slight problem was we both woke with sore shoulders, as beds are a little on the hard side, the staff were very very helpful and friendly, and also nice to see the staff who have been there for some time.

    « Brume »

The hotel is pretty decent for the price...clean and quiet. The staff were quite polite, cheerful and helpful. The food was tasty...The meals prepared in the hotel were really good, and if you want something different they can help you order Chinese or Indian food. I had both. The wifi was very good as well! If you need somewhere quiet and not so fancy to stay especially if you are on a business trip, then I will definitely recommend this hotel.

« Lovely staff but a big disappointment given it trades as a Best Western. Not what one would expect. »

Booked this last minute, and the reception woman was lovely, the room was fine....but the bar and 'restaurant' were like greasy spoon. Very, very disappointing given this is a Best Western, which is why we booked it. But I'd make the point again that if one goes into Starbucks one knows what one is getting. I thought it was the same with a Best Western - but this is a lesson that a Best Western is not a guaranteed standard. Will think twice before using other Best Westerns.

« Does no credit to the Best Western name »

On first glance the outside looks impressive, but close-up it's shabby and tired. My room was large but with a distinct smell which, if I'm generous, was damp, but hinted at something worse. The bed was large and reasonably comfortable. No complimentary soap or shampoo was offered in the bathroom - just the nasty wall-mounted squeezy gloop which I regard as sure sign of a miserly hotel. Rubbish wi-fi in the room. Worst of all was the "restaurant" - little more than a bar/breakfast area offering an evening menu on a laminated A4 sheet with various chips-and-stuff items, cooked, it seemed, in a deep fat fryer situated just out of sight behind the bar. Oh, and the bar itself had a choice of beers ranging from Becks to, nothing else. If pressed to list redeeming features, I'd say the breakfast was OK, and there's ample parking.

« Tired and falling apart »

I stayed in this hotel on Saturday night for a family party as it was cheap. You gets what you pay for i guess. On arrival i was left stood in reception for a good 10 minutes before someone showed up to check me in and when they did were very short with me as though they really couldn't be bothered. The room stank of damp, wallpaper peeling off, plaster coming away. By the sofa there were cobwebs full of dust that looked like it hadn't been touched in weeks and to top it off there was mould on the shower gel dispenser attached to the shower wall below a showerhead that was encrusted with so much scale i was scared to use the shower at all

« Friendly hotel, easy access, limited restaurant »

Very pleasant hotel with friendly and efficient staff and a good breakfast, car park and access to the Health club next door. Room was a great size with individual air-conditioning. Limited options in the bar/restaurant for food - very much a bar menu rather than a 'restaurant'.

    « Oddly wonderful »

I needed a budget hotel nearish Haddenham and this odd little delight popped up on my search. Situated just outside of Aylesbury- our taxi into town cost £3.50 - this hotel is admittedly a bit dated. When we arrived the other half gave me a slightly disturbed look, but this quickly changed. The receptionist was lovely and couldn't do enough! The room was large and everything was clean. the gardens look nice - although it's more a random lawn with a statue in the middle?! The biggest oddity was the toilet in the bathroom - apparently a requisite for a 5 star hotel. This is not a 5 star hotel. This is however, a friendly, quirky, vintage reasonably priced hotel. One note - the kitchen didn't seem to open but there is a lovely pub down the road with a view of the lake!

    « Smells & feels damp »

This hotel needs refurbishment and our room felt & smelled damp and the settee, although comfortable was stained. On the upside the beds were comfortable, breakfast perfectly acceptable and the staff pleasant & helpful..

    « Damp smell »

Staff were helpful, and the breakfast good enough and acceptable but the hotel & particularly the bedroom smelled damp. The coach was comfortable but was marked and would have been fine if they had been removed

« Better management would help »

We arrived, were booked in and given our key. We went to our room, unpacked and relaxed until I tried to wash my hands. Having run the hot tap in the wash hand basin and bath for more than five minutes with cold water still coming through I decided to complain. The girl at reception admitted that she was not sure why but agreed to come to the room where she tried a few switches and asked us to see if things improved. After an hour I tried again but there was still no hot water so I returned to reception. We were offered another room but we did not want the inconvenience of packing and unpacking again so we were given the key to another room so we could have a shower. I made it clear that I found this all unacceptable and that I was reluctant to pay the agreed rate because of the trouble we had incurred. The receptionist said that she would find out if some compensation could be arranged. In the morning, having gone through the inconvenience of showering in another room, we went to breakfast. This proved to be surprisingly good, with a nice selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurts. The "full english" was exactly what was expected Overall, the hotel was adequate but there seemed to be this feeling of chaos which usually means that the management is not doing its job. The water episode put us off this hotel and we would certainly not return nor recommend it to others.

    « Best Western Aylesbury »

My stay was just a short overnight one on my wedding night! We appeared to have been upgraded into a very nice room at no extra cost. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone in the future. My aunt uncle and cousin always stay here when attending family events and recommended it to me.

    « buisness stay »

ok but room decor and furniture in need of updating beds in need of updating , bed very soft. hotel location very good in quiet location .staff friendly overall appearance of hotel ok, did not use leisure centre located 30 second walk away from main hotel

« Comfortable stay with helpful staff »

We had two nights here, the rooms were comfortable and a good size, although a little "tired" in places. We had no hot water on the first morning but Chloe was so helpful. She tried to resolve the problem but when she couldn't, found us another room to shower in while efficiently arranging a move to a new room once housekeeping had been in. The two staff in the breakfast room were cheerful, patient and efficient, working with a smile even though the room is not big and it was extremely busy on the Sunday morning. Breakfast was great. A good value stay in a comfortable hotel. Not luxury, but fine.

« Good Value for Money »

We stay a lot in travelodges, which whilst appearing more modern than this Best Western, can seem a little sterile. The room we were given was very large and as it had a sofa bed as well I assume it was the family room. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was impressive and the heated towel rail was a nice touch. The lady on reception on arrival seemed a little curt considering the place looked deserted and cannot have been busy. We did not see the restaurant as we were informed brusquely on check in it was shut. All in all I would stay here again the grounds are beautiful and the price very reasonable.

« Good place to stay »

Stayed at b&b 20/8/16 , room 204, dated but very clean, comfortable beds and quiet place. Breakfast was varied and tasty. Good value b&b - reasonable priced pub walk away. Would stay again if in area. Staff polite and pleasant especially at breakfast.

    « Visiting Family »

From the moment we arrived to the next day when we left, everything about the hotel was great. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful.Would definitely go back there again in the future. The location of this Hotel was close to the town and local amenities.Taxi fares into Aylesbury was only £3.50 and very prompt

    « Nice Hotel »

We stayed here for a Wedding we were attending. Room was lovely very roomy and also quiet. We had all that we needed for a one night stay. People friendly and helpful. I left my scarf in the bar and they collected it and gave it back to me in the morning which I was so thankful. Restaurant and bar could be bigger as at breakfast you have to be up early to get a table so that's my only criticism.

« Decent value for money but dont expect the Ritz for £114 »

This hotel is a bit away from the town centre which has its advantages and drawbacks in itself. Our room was clean, tidy and spacious with a great shower and comfortable double bed. Breakfast was good and I would certainly say 3 adults for B&B at £114 was good value for money. You get what you pay for but this place could charge a bit more if it just addressed a few small issues. A good coat of paint on the outside of the property is well overdue. The receptionist could be described as "functional" but a bit of enthusiasm would not go amiss. My wife remarked that I said "please" and "thank you" numerous times but the receptionist didn't say it once. To be greeted with "the chef is off tonight so we aren't doing food, but taxis are only £3.50 to town" didn't install too much optimism. Little niggles like only having 2 mugs in the room when there were 3 of us is something that doesn't happen in other hotels where attention to detail is important to the owners. The put me up bed certainly was functional but wasn't the most comfortable sleep Ive ever had.

    « Beware added costs! »

I would never use this chain again. Booking system is hopeless and then they overcharged us. Complaints department did nothing and attitude of hotel was dismissive. Very unprofessional at best, verging on dishonest.

    « Overnight stay »

Stayed here 06/08 /16 for 1 night as was attending a family party nearby. On arrival hotel looks quite nice. Check in was quick and was given keys to room 207. Room was quite large but very dated, no fridge but tea, coffee kettle ect. After our evening out on returning at about 12.30ish we was going to have a drink in the hotel bar but was informed it was closed. Breakfast was included in the morning and must say it was rather nice full English plus a selection of fruit, cereal, pastries, toast jam ect and pots of tea and coffee. This is a budget hotel but good value for money though a bit out of town.

    « Updated friendly hotel »

We stayed here for 1 Night while visiting friends in Aylesbury. We were delighted by the look of the hotel and our recently updated room was very comfortable. The only small criticism is that the grouting in the bathroom was very slapdash and rather ruined the effect. Breakfast this morning was delicious and served by very friendly waitresses. We went and looked at the swimming pool and although we didn't use it this time, we might use it in future. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

    « Very helpful staff »

I was very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff at this hotel, from arranging our booking to kindly allowing us to have breakfast 30 minutes earlier than normal to allow us to attend the British grand prix on time. Large rooms but the hotel is in need of some modernisation, but everything was adequate and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast provided was very good with a large range of items to choose from.

    « Dissappointing »

I stayed at this hotel many years ago before it became a Best Western. I only stayed there recently thinking that Best Western would have improved it. As a Best Western Diamond for life member I have certain expectations and have to say that this hotel failed miserably. It lacks character and personality overall. The whole hotel is tired and in desperate need of updating in terms of the rooms and the restaurant. The restaurant is too small and is in dire need of updating. With basic tables and chairs and very basic decor it resembled more something along the lines of a trucker's cafe.

    « Made welcome »

We stayed at this hotel again in June, this time on a bed and breakfast basis, but on this occasion, I had an assistance dog with me who was made very welcome. There is a nice park just down the road with a pond and lots of ducks (no Aylesbury ducks unfortunately!) which was a great walk for us even with my wheelchair. At breakfast, again my dog was made welcome in the dining room, and was even offered a sausage, which unfortunately we had to decline, but it was a very kind thought. The breakfast was excellent - we had the full English. No complaints at all. For the energetic, there is a gym right next door, and it's not far from shops. We will definately stay in this hotel again and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

« Average - disappointed with sofa bed »

Stayed here for 1 night due to lack of availability in the area on the date we wanted. The hotel needs a little refurb and fresh coat of paint. The room was a good size but the sofa bed for my son was not adequate at all. Having checked at the time of the booking and giving my son's age they said it would be fine. However, upon staying the brochure in the room said it was only suitable up to age 12. My son was 14. The beds were uncomfortable. I would not stay again.

    « Very average »

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights as our 'summer get-a-way' and even though I did get a good staff discount on the stay as I work for BEST WESTERN we were still fairly disappointed. On arrival, the receptionist seemed to have no want to be there - not a warm welcome at all. We were also then told that we had to pay a £30 p/night 'holding fee' (which we were not told about upon booking) and as a result we were the £90 down for the rest of the week!! Room was nice however for an executive suite, the bathroom was outdated and there seemed to be nothing extra added to the room besides a very nice air-con machine. Breakfast was disappointing. Staff were somewhat rude and we only had the option of a limited continental OR a very small full English which consisted of 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 fried egg, a raw tomato and a handful of beans. All in all a disappointing stay and we will not be returning - despite the excellent staff rate I received!

    « Average overnight »

Stayed one night and not one I can recommend unless the location is important to the visitor. Service is simply ok both on reception and restaurant . Room was large and spacious and very ordinary with comfy bed 2 seater sofa and furniture. All very dated and average condition . Bathroom tatty and while area needs upgrade. We had a great deal on price and would only stay with that great deal again. Massively expensive on normal tariff for what you get . Breakfast less than good, and opted for cereal. So to arrive late and leave early is fine, not one for a weekend where you may need to spend time in your room. Clean and basic so sleep and go is fine.

    « OK FOR A NIGHT »

Considering this was a cheap stay £50 for the night, and convenient to our venue, it was surprisingly good. Clean and comfortable beds, clean bathroom and nice friendly receptionists. Better than a lot of expensive hotels we have stayed in.

    « Visiting friends »

I booked 2 nights to visit friends in the Aylesbury area. I had a lovely stay, and considering it was a heatwave found the air con so very necessary! Staff were pleasant and helpful, the local area of Watermead is beautiful, with a lovely pub that serves food an easy walk away from the hotel. To walk into Aylesbury itself would take 15-20 mins, or a regular bus route will allow you to do the same. I would happily stay here again.

« OK ,but could be much better... »

We stayed for two nights,as had a party in Aylesbury..The hotel itself is tired looking, but we know they are gradually improving the rooms..Wallpaper peeling etc....but i will say everything was clean, bedding, bathroom etc...which is the most important in my opinion. Breakfast was nice, only criticism is the staff bring your full English, before youve hardly started your cereal/fruit etc.So slow it down a little guys, you were all very friendly,so just a minor detail..... In general, you have a hotel in a fab position, just felt that some staff, maybe needed more customer service skills,More smiley faces would improve this place a lot,A friendly greeting on arrival, but shouldnt have to stand around ,while staff go off to finish another job.....Would we stay again?Possibly.

    « Did the Job »

The hotel was ok... A bland statement but explains it perfectly. The hotel could do with a refresh but was ok. The room was ok and again could do with some improvements. My daughter (age 14) complained that the fold out bed was uncomfortable, but not sure how many of them actually are. Didn't eat at the hotel at all so cannot comment on that element. Overall it was well priced and worked for what we wanted, which was a base. Would I stay again, probably not.

    « Horrible musty smell »

Stayed for one night on business. This hotel really needs a face lift - carpets changed, bathrooms replaced. The room I was in had a horrible musty smell. They need to take some pointers from the PI next door. Only bonus is that you can use the fitness centre for free.

« Cheap, clean, friendly, could be better. »

I stayed here on a Tuesday night for business and got a good rate £89. On arrival, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel clean. Ground floor rooms had a funny smell so went upstairs. My room was a good size if a bit dated. It was on the main road side so had a bit of road noise with window open. However, there was a modern air con unit in case I had to shut it. I found a tiny turd in the loo on arrival which refused to flush until halfway through my visit. The menu in the unatmospheric restaurant that was no more than a side room behind reception was highly uninspiring, (I.e. Omelette, cheeseburger, cod and chips, garlic bread, gammon and chips, pesto pasta and anything else that would not require any formal chef training to prepare) so I ate out. Beds comfy. A good cheap option if you just want to sleep and do nothing else in the hotel. Although why you'd want to visit Aylesbury for anything other than business is another question! The only other issue was the hot water as many other Trip Advisor reviewers had warned. Running the hot tap of the bath led to a noise like something taking off and a lot of spluttering and intermittent flow; water warm but not piping hot. Think they need to do something about that!

« Disappointed, stay in Best western. »

From arrival, when told they will add £30 to my bill in case I use any services ( not mentioned on web site when booked), room had cobwebs and dust on the lights, sink in bathroom with hairs in, sink was also cracked and very old to having a cold breakfast, I found this hotel a disappointment. I have stayed in many best western hotels all over the country. Never had such a stay like this one. This hotel is in need of desperate TLC, from the paint on the outside of the building with rust marks and paint peeling off, the gardens ( what a shame they could be so nice with some effort) to room cleanliness . I feel I have to say something positive, here goes the reception and corridors are nicely maintained.

    « Basic but clean »

Stayed for one night on a Saturday night in a big group over several rooms. Big rooms but basic. Bed was perfectly comfy. Toilet didn't flush properly. Was too hungover to try the breakfast! Not sure if I'd stay again.

    « Pleasent Stay »

This had not been my first choice, but I was unable to book in at a closer hotel to my work site. That said, this hotel did admirably. I am more than likely to use it again, even though it will be further away. The leisure facilities make the visit worth while, and it is sited within walking distance of Aylesbury centre.

« Decent Hotel in a quiet location »

Stayed here for two nights to attend a wedding. Easily located, good parking facilities and a friendly welcome. Room clean and decent size. Coffee making facilities were most welcome in the morning. Breakfast was an extra but worthy of the price with a very good Full English available. Staff recommended a good taxi service to get to and from the wedding venue. Would stay there again if I was in the area. Gmac

    « Reasonable Hotel »

Rooms look like they've been recently refurbished, they look alot better in the inside than the outside of the hotel would lead you to believe. Plenty of parking outside. Can't comment on the food however, there was only a small selection available so would recommend the near by Embur Inns at the Premier Inn which is within walking distance

    « Business trip »

Very convenient and easy to get to. Helpful and friendly staff. On site gym which is open to residents. Good breakfast both cooked and continental. Comfortable bed and powerful shower. The rooms are being renovated and I was lucky to have one with a new carpet. Maybe next time I'll get fresh decor too! The friendly staff made up for the tired wall paper. Window opened for fresh air which is nice as I don't sleep with the air conditioning on. WiFi was excellent However I would recommend eating out during the evening and the menu was limited with my option (the veg lasagna) being a poor effort.

    « Garden court Aylesbury »

Location of the hotel is ideal, close to main road and very easy to find. The hotel rooms are good but the decoration of the whole building leaves a lot to be desired. Although the hotel is next to a main road there was not any noise. Rooms are comfortably furnished with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast would be better had in a café for better value.

    « Truly awful. »

I am as i type having the displeasure of staying at this hotel through work. There are 14 of us booked in. Upon booking in I am informed that the kitchen is small so no more that 4 people will be served at any one time. So we will have to work out a rota of who gets to eat when. As this is the case the hotel allow you to get a take away to be delivered and for it to be charged to our allowance. I can live with this as a work round. But when some of us come to order a Domino's Pizza (one of the three places they say we can order from) we are told we can't, as they have no cash to pay for it. So the ordering out that they offer, you cant have. Bare in mind they are getting £25 per man per night to feed us. So if they discourage us from eating there, (as a few of us have) they are on to a nice little number. On the room. The curtains don't stop light coming in. As night workers this is a problem. The shower has a mind of it's own. One minute freezing, the next, dangerously hot. This is when you can get it to work. I managed to find out that playing with the sink taps would kick the shower heat pump in to action. The shower head wont stay up and has about 3 jets it's so lime scaled up. This is of course when there is actually any water coming out of it. It seems to come and go like a bird finding food for it's young in the nest. Now to the bit that has made me put finger to keyboard. I was going to let the rest slide. I'm not paying for the room. So I can't moan to much. But if you are going to take bookings from people you know are doing safety critical night work, don't decide to fit new carpets in the room net to mine while I'm trying to sleep. I don't know if you know what is involved in fitting a carpet. 1: Remove all the furniture from the room while making as much noise as possible. 2: Rip out the old carpets making as much noise as possible. 3: Bring new carpet in and cut it to shape.... 4: Now for the noisy bit. Get a metal bolster and smack every inch of the carpet in between the gripper rods and the skirting boards, repeatedly. Upon complaining to the manager I am told these thing happen, and that the hotel is full so they could not have put me in another room. So when he offers to put me in another room so I can get some sleep, he either lied to me, or was going to put me in someone else's room. Either way it's irrelevant. I'm now up. 3 hours sleep and that's it. I doubt I will manage to get any more now. Truly awful and clueless.

    « convenient and quiet »

A well located and quiet hotel with easy access for M25 and Milton Keynes. Rooms are large and clean, small bar/restaurant not tried. Had a good breakfast, plenty of cereal, fruit and juices. Hot breakfast cooked to ordered and hot toast delivered to table. We walked a short distance to Watermead village to pub restaurant for a plenty meal. Outside seating overlooking the lake on nice evenings. Decor at hotel is a little tired but all very clean.

« Best thing about the hotel is the location! »

Staff were average. Room was average. Décor needs tlc. Nothing fantastic to write home about at all. The location is its one redeeming quality - it's within a 10 minute walk to a lovely lake with a local shop and a restaurant bar, The staff here were great, very friendly and welcoming.

« it was not an inviting place to stay »

Over priced Hotel we stayed for two nights 4 adults and all agreed on the following remarks. rooms very very basic no slip mas in the shower bat not suitable for any on with hip problems toilet did not flush towels smelt of cooking. dining room come bar very small, the tables were very sticky plates and cups stuck to tables it as a very uncomfortable place to sit for a drink. Breakfast was adequate to good plates were greacy free they gave one what ever combination one wanted in a fry. Tea Good and cup/mug were a good size. waitress need a bit more table training. The receptionists were really helpful good parking and close to town

    « Smelly »

The receptionists were really helpful and kind, but the rooms and halls were damp and stinky, and our room was not clean. Wi-Fi and parking were good. There was also an interesting statue on the grass next to the hotel....

« Good Value and comfy »

What it says - good value for a large double room with tea/coffee making facilities, good parking and close to town but with a rural aspect, and after a long fifteen hour travel day the bed was delightfully comfy and don't remember much else. The staff are welcoming and helpful 24/7 and breakfast is more than adequate. I don't have a single complaint - it's as good as anything locally and costs less. The wi-fi is free and works well, and there are bars and restaurants within walking distance. I'll always go back until they get it wrong but, for me, I expect that to be along time coming.

    « nice locaton »

had an overnight here checking in was easy, friendly staff and no problems the room was fine clean and comfy WI-FI was good. didnt seem to get a great deal of noise from the road. Breafast was good freshly cooked and a fair choice. The bar come dining room is quite small. we ate here as we were very tired had fish and chips and a bottle of wine which was not so good the batter oft the fish was hard and the fish tasteless, the mushy peas were dry and the wine was over priced. in fact the dinner was not good value for money. but apart fro that it was good.

« There must be better than this! »

Issues for me were: 1) Nearly tripped over the trouser stand as I entered the room for the first time (it was right in the middle of the entry corridor) 2) Noisy - Circus music opposite and road traffic noise was not blocked out - no insulation from the windows 3) Mirrors and Shower all too low (I'm 5ft 11) and had to stoop under the shower 4) Hot water ran out half way through shower 5) Toilet blocked/wouldn't flush 6) Poor choice of food in restaurant (very pokey) - had to walk up the road to find food 7) Breakfast was ok 8) Receptionist reasonably friendly

    « Social evening »

Team meeting and overnight social. Hotel is cheap and cheerful, don't expect luxury, clean rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was nice. Free passes to gym next door is a bonus. Nice setting on the lake, with large green areas, great when the sun shines.

    « Our 2nd visit »

This was our second stay, its been 2 years since our last visit. The rooms are clean, tidy and housekeeping do there job well (shout out to HK! Sometimes forgotton). The decore is up to date and looks fresh and new. The staff are friendly without being imposing. The hotel is quiet at night very little noise from the corridor (one of my biggest worries in any hotel). They can provide feather pillows (I did a swap with my daughter). Breakfast is simply but tasty; full English or continental, the waiting staff are friendly they probably won't mind you trying everything on the breakfast buffet! Just beware of the coffee too strong for me in the morning! No problem I just had tea...or hot chocolate! Good to know; they don't have a lift but booking through Best Western you can request ground floor rooms...which we will. Also they have accessible rooms on ground floor as well. There is a gym and small pool which residents can use ( we didn't have time to view this). Over all really great to stay at, and at time of booking other hotel chains in the area could not complete on price.

    « Best Western Aylesbury »

We stayed at the Best Western in Aylesbury, whilst attending a wedding nearby, we found the hotel to be extremely nice and modern, the bedrooms were spacious, clean, and the beds very comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

« Good hotel for short stay »

Easy to find, plenty of parking, flat access for wheelchairs. Our room was located on the ground floor, and had two single beds with white linen. Room was quite large, clean and tidy as was the bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities in room with extra sachets available from reception. Close to shopping centre with restaurants so we didn't eat in the hotel restaurant which we found to be a bit pricey. There is a leisure centre right next door. A good hotel for a short stay in the area.

    « Pleasant stay. »

Comfortable well managed hotel with pleasant staff. Room of good size, clean and comfortable. Slept well. Breakfast freshly cooked and staff helpful, professional and pleasant. Convenient location in green surroundings.

« Aylesbury stopover for Wedding Reception »

Unfortunately the choice of rating on Trip only allows for Average, or, Very Good, for this Hotel I would have given good on the basis of; value.comfort, breakfast, location in that order. Six of us from the Northampton and Milton Keynes areas were attending an evening reception for friends, and fellow MKD supporters, Alex and Naomi. Apart from a few initial niggles, cold rooms, and water, which were resolved, accommodation was of a decent standard. Rooms are large, and airy, with in most cases a separate reception area with sofa and table and chair, plus tea and coffee making facilities plus complimentary biscuits. The bed was comfortable, the bedding, and pillows, of good quality. In the bathroom, there was the option of a bath and shower, water temperature was fine, two little minuses, were one that getting out of the bath could for some be tricky as it involved a fairly high step over , apart from that it was strange that the fitted sink arrangement was of a off creme colour, whilst the bath and toilet was white. Breakfast in the morning was in the dining room/ bar which as some people have mentioned is initially hard to find as it is at the start of the corridor off reception and although there is a large sign on the wall indication Festaurant, the door seemed more like a utility room. The choices offered for breakfast were good, cereals, fruit, rolls and croissants, plus a decent cooked breakfast, served by a very friendly and efficient staff member. The location was ideal for our purposes as it was a short taxi ride away from the reception location. The Garden Court provided a decent stay In a pleasant location, at a reasonable price.

« Superb Value for a Hotel for Aylesbury »

I have been staying at the Best Western Garden Court in Aylesbury for most of the last 3 months so I feel I am in a good position to make a balanced and fair review of the Hotel. Certainly for me, it has proved a superb place to stay. i've had about 6 different rooms, and the staff were helpful in my request for a room facing south as the phone reception on the north side of the hotel was poor (on the 3 network). As i'm now a diamond member i get a free upgrade to exec rooms, which are no bigger than the standard rooms but have extra windows, are quiet and have a huge tv. The Hotel internet has just been upgraded from about 125kbps ladt month to about 6Mbps now - serious improvement! Its still slower than my tethered connection on the phone but is a great backup should there be network issues on the mobile network. Because i stay for 4 nights at a time, i get an excellent "extended leisure break" rate which is cancellable, includes breakfast and has thusfar worked out at only £60/night, which is excellent for the area. A big plus as far as i am concerned is that use of the private health club is included. Its only a 2 min walk (if that!) and the pool there is excellent (13m long and deep enough to swim properly at both ends - a lot of Hotel pools are so shallow at one end you cant swim in them!). The gym is well equipped and the staff there friendly. I use the facilities almost every night i am there so feel i get very good value from the £60 a night i pay. The best western rewards scheme has also earnt me nearly 40000 points already since xmas (3 months ago)this is worth £100 as Amazon, Next or other vouchers. Alternatively i could use them to pay for 2 nights stay. I have only eaten an evening meal on one occasion. The food was good but the Restaurant/Bar area is quite small and to be honest i dont like eating out alone. I havent eaten in the Restaurant in the evening again, although i would if i was with a group or with family. I have a good breakfast at the Hotel most mornings. The breakfast service is fast, taking only a couple of minutes for a cooked breakfast, with a nice freshly fried egg. They obviously have bacon and sausages ready to go.. And thats fine. Time is money so they say and the fast service in the breakfast room is exactly what i require. As far as the staff are concerned, ive got to know all of the receptionists and cooks, waitresses and the Manager and they are all pretty friendly. The manager is always friendly and professional, even when i accidentally triggered the fire alarm with steam from the shower one morning. It was all sorted out quickly without need to evacuate the hotel (luckily it was about 8am so most people were already up). The rooms at BW Garden Court are large, have proper drawers and cupboards whereas PRemier Inn only has cubby holes in the area outside the shower rooms. The rooms at BW all have a comfortable sofa in a little area which is distinct from the bedroom area. This area also has a table and coffee and tea facilities. Its like having an extra room (even though there is no real separation between the areas). This all makes the stay at BW Garden Court all the more comfortable. The cost of staying there is increasing from April but its still competitive with other Hotels of a similar quality in the area.

« Needs some TLC but good value »

This hotel is easy to find, on the edge of town and has a large car park. My room was a good size with nice decor although the outside wall seemed to be suffering a bit from damp. Wifi was good and breakfast was cooked to order. The gym next door was decent, plenty of machines and sensible opening times. The shower in my room had two settings, scalding and ice, so would have been entertaining to watch! ?? I would have mentioned it on checkout but I don't think anyone would have been interested, a bit more customer care training wouldn't go amiss.

    « Poor but enjoyable »

One attitude is price , don't think is cheap but compare to hotels nearby is cheapest. I have to admit that I slept well, heating is working well, rooms are spacious.Breakfast is normal, nothing special but enjoyable, was little be annoying noise coming from the kitchen, I presume I missed good joke, coz about 15 minutes staff had good time. Otherwise is good, probably I'll back there if I'll need hotel.

« OK but prices on the high side for value »

Smallish hotel on the outskirts of Aylesbury, welcome (like so many) sadly was a group of people all smoking outside the front door. Check in good and efficient, room much nicer than anticipated. Double bed, sofa, big bathroom, very pleasant. On the ground floor on the road side but I didn't hear anything from traffic. Breakfast nowhere near value for the extra £10 for my view. Wifi free, but so slow as to be unuseable, which would be an issue had this been a work stay. OK if you need somewhere to stay, but over £70 seems a lot for what it is.

    « One night stopover »

I stayed in the Best western Garden Court during a business trip to Aylesbury. Check in was okay, the room was okay with plenty of space. Although there was draft blowing through the ill fitting window frames which caused the room to become cold during the night. The bar and restaurant are basic at best. If you want a choice of beer you will be disappointed. There is one draft lager and that is it. If you want wine by the glass there is a choice of...1. Finding the bar is a feat itself. It is hidden behind a door that looks like every other one in the corridor. Breakfast was okay, well cooked with a good selection of cereals and fruit. The staff are the best part of the experience. Every one of them is friendly and helpful.

    « 3 Star rating ? 2 Star standard. »

I stayed here for 3 nights on business and it served my basic needs - just. The good points are that the staff are all friendly, there was plenty of hot water and a powerful shower and the rooms were warm. So why the title ? the hotel offers a free Wi-Fi throughout which was a decider for me but on arrival we were told that it was down and the responsibility of on outside company indicating it wasn't really there fault ? well Im sorry but my contract was with you and I paid for a service you couldn't supply and you failed to make me aware (even with a temporary note on the web) prior to my arrival. This became more frustrating when the Wi-Fi did come back on during my last day of stay but there seemed no enthusiasm to inform the guests with a notice in the foyer or codes left in the room ? if I hadn't have asked I do wonder if I would have ever known. The bar has a very limited selection and is really a glorified dual purpose breakfast room. The web does not indicate any fitness facilities but there is free use of an adjacent fitness centre with the use of your room key ? it's a shame this fact isn't on the web (if it is I didn't spot it). The rooms, though warm, were dingy with very tired décor and extremely poor lighting. The cleanliness was also poor with dirt/mould engrained in the bathroom corners. Whilst preparing to leave I dropped a small item on the floor and had to use my phone torch to search for it I discovered a discarded nail clipping from a previous guest on the carpet under the dressing table, and there was a piece of cellophane that remained just inside the door for the duration of my stay which indicates that the cleaning could be more thorough and is probably not checked by the management. I won't be staying again and would probably elect to use the Premier Inn nearby that is served very well by a good pub.

« Basic accommodation with limitations »

Big bedrooms plenty of space but dated. Limited menu in what they call a bar. Bar area more like a room with some tables and a bar serving area with very little to offer. Lacking in atmospher. Wifi not working.

« Fallen out of love and my last choice now :( »

Stayed at this hotel quite a few times over the years, found the staff to be nice, friendly and accommodating as well as reasonable to additional requests. It is actually my go to hotel in Aylesbury and having recently launched a new business venture in Aylesbury, my new second home...well it WAS. When we arrived the night staff lady who let us in was extremely moody. We had no towels in our room and when I called to notify reception I did not even get an apology and we will bring some but instead when they arrive at my room she said "there should have been some on the towel rail". Well yes I know there should, I would not have called to get some if there were? A simple sorry and here you go would have been fine. Having stayed here many times in the past, when I had a late (early morning) arrival the staff were nice and gave a little extra time for check out the next morning. This time I had overslept and rang reception to ask if we could please have an extra hour. I was told it will cost 30 pounds (over 50% of the actual room rate for the NIGHT) to have one extra hour. On what planet is that justifiable in any way!!? I then said I am a regular customer, it has not been an issue in the past and the hotel is not fully booked and could they please give me extra time to get ready , the response? "It is 30 pounds". I addressed this again at the desk expecting at least some sort of understanding/empathy. Same response, yes so its 30 pounds for an extra hour. Sorry Best Western, this needs reviewing for more than one reason.

« Handy location for family visit »

Five of us stayed here for one night, and overall it is not a bad place. Rooms are warm with excellent in-room temperature controls, lovely powerful showers and excellent pillows provided. Tea/coffee always a welcome sight in our bedrooms. The breakfast too was very good indeed, swift service and a great start for our long drive home. All I would say is that the wooden window frames appear to need replacement, as did our mattress - we kept rolling into the middle! However, this did not spoil our stay.

« Cold business stop over »

Stayed here on 25th January for a business stop over. Receptionist was very helpful as was the lovely lady behind the bar. That's about as good as gets for me, the room is in need of a make over redundant fixings, dirty wallpaper and a washed out colour scheme makes the place look and feel shabby. The was two very disappointing things for me, first was the heating system it is a joke air conditioning unit that would not provide hot air despite the thermostat control's calling for heat. If you wanted to get warm you either sat in the toilet with the towel rail on or got in to bed which is no good when you want to do some work. I would not recommend eating in the so called restaurant as to be quite frank what I was served was a disgrace, I ordered a medium sirloin what a I got was a pre cooked flash fried steak with twice cooked chips, the only decent thing on the cold plate was the salad at least they kept that cold. As a passing through business user I can't recommend this hotel as you will not get decent fare or a warming comfortable room at the end of your tiring day, which is a great shame for me as I do generally like BW Hotels. I will definitely be writing to their head office once my fingers have defrosted.

    « Not great »

The room was great, but i felt it was an inconvenience to the staff that I was there, I ordered cheese burger for dinner and it looked and tasted poor quality, for the price I would have been better off going to a burger chain, the wifi was very slow, in fact I gave up on down loading some programs from BBCi player because it was so slow

« They made a bad weekend so much better for us »

We have stayed here 4 nights since New Year. With my elderly parents, our son and daughter in law. All due to the sudden illness of my dear Sister. The staff have been excellent, they even made us sandwiches on New Years Day night when we arrived late and the restaurant had closed. The rooms are large, comfortable beds and excellent breakfast. Thankyou to the chef who sent my breakfast to the hospital the night i sat with my sister. I'm glad to say my sister is recovering now. The staff and accomodation at this hotel made our journey so much easier. Thankyou.

    « Excellent value - comfy bed! »

Stayed here with my girlfriend for a wedding. Had everything we needed for two nights. Really comfortable bed and good facilities in the room. Shower was excellent and good restaurants nearby. Really enjoyed. Thanks for a pleasant stay!!

    « Comfortable living »

We stayed for 5 nights. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast option was enough with good food. Outside view is very nice with wide open space. Service was good with helping staffs. Nice scenic view.

    « Mmmm what can I say ... ?? »

Nothing like the website says!!! The 1st picture on the website isn't the hotel, it's the health club next door - as we saw from our room window (pic4) The decor in the room was very orange and very dated. Crisps on the floor(pic2) spillages on the side by the bed (pic 3). There were about 8 lights in the room. You either have them all on or non on. Apparently there was free wifi, we couldn't connect at all. When you enter the hotel is smells very musty. Not inviting at all. When checking in they place a holding fee on your card, that's not explained. They also wanted a £30 deposit on the room when paying by cash. Again knew nothing about that. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is the bed was comfy. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and I certainly won't be using it again! We paid £60 and it wasn't worth that much

    « Basic and dated »

This hotel needs an overhaul, its very dated. Especially the bathroom in the room, (circa 1995) which though clean was ugly, and the plumbing needs some work. Room smelt of pain, as they had obviously tried to freshen it up.

    « Ronseal hotel »

Don't get me wrong this isn't the best hotel I have stayed in but by no means the worst it does exactly what it says on the tin. The rooms may be a little out dated on the decor but they are both very clean and tidy and probably one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. They serve a very good hot breakfast but the dining room / lounge is like sitting in a road side café or a B and B and not a place to unwind after a days work. All the staff are extremely pleasant and do go out of there way to help you from recommending near by restaurants or arranging late check outs. If you are up to it the spa fitness center across the lawn is a nice way to spend a couple of hours in the pool or gym. Close by a few minutes drive away is a enjoyable pub the Watermead Inn which sells good reasonable priced food and a good selection of cask ales you can sit outside and enjoy the lake well worth a visit.

    « If you need internet...stay away! »

The High Speed internet was anything but. I would never recommend this hotel for business as you will not get anything done. As a Diamond Member in the BW Program, I stay at the hotels for business constantly and this was one of the worst with regards to be able to get anything done.

« Beautiful Property, Standard rooms, Nice Staff, Excellent Breakfast »

This is a lovely property. It has a well above average breakfast served in their restaurant, and the room was par for what I expect from a best western. My husband and I stayed their for 9 days as a base for checking out some UK universities. It was a great home away from home, and everyone was very friendly.

« Uncomfortable bed but nice staff »

I stayed at this hotel for one night. The staff were very nice and the hotel and room looked nice. Unfortunately the bed was too hard and there was a vending machine down the hall from my room that I could hear running all night. If the hotel solved these problems then I would be happy to stay again.

    « Highly satisfied overall »

I booked this hotel for 5 nights for my parents during their visit to Aylesbury mainly because of the pretty setting and surroundings. They were highly satisfied by the size and cleanliness of their room and most importantly with the customer service they received. They were also very happy with the breakfast, the only thing they did not like was the vegetarian sausage. Personally, when I saw the bathroom I definitely felt the need of an updating because the bathroom/toilet seemed to be from the 80s. However, they did not complain because their overall experience was great.

    « It's not to bad »

After reading the previous reviews before I arrived, I was expecting a dump but was very surprised as it's not that bad at all. Reception was pleasant when I checked in, the room was clean and comfortable and although it is a little dated it is not old in that things are falling apart or hanging off walls. The breakfast was good and over all I am pretty happy with my stay.

« OK but expensive for what you get »

Stayed here for 2 nights when working in the area. Location was fine and free parking available. The positives... Spacious room, comfortable bed. The negatives... The front of house female did not seem to be interested in the slightest and was very dippy. The room cost was quite expensive for what you actually got and the décor in my room was very tired. The room was also freezing when i arrived and given they were full would have thought a bit of heat would have been welcoming for the guests given all rooms were taken. OK this is not the Ritz but for £85 a night room only I would have expected windows that shut properly (they were not double glazed and rattled in the wind so were draughty) and a shower that the temperature could be easily controlled. Sadly neither was the case. The free wifi simply did not work and neither my laptop or phone would connect to it. To get a better, faster service the cost was prohibitive so gave that a miss. Trying to pay on arrival and get a receipt for the full stay - 2 nights - was just impossible as the "System updates over each night" so I was told. The restaurant I gave a miss as I had read previous reports and expected good value for money and have a rule that I NEVER pay for microwaved food. Likewise the bar, I don't drink when I am away so cannot comment on the standard, stock or prices. Overall... Room was clean, a comfortable bed but the place needs to have money spent on it without the cost being passed on to the paying guests. Would not bring my family here until it is modernised - they deserve more than that. Now is that too much to ask for?

    « Very disappointing »

Let's start with the one positive. The room was comfortable and spacious. Where do i start with the rest. For £133 for one night this was very poor value. The staff looked bored with no smiles or greeting on arrival. The bar was cold and uninviting with poor beer choice. The food choice was very limited and poor quality. The salad with the steak was a single lettuce leaf! I asked for ice cream with the crumble rather than custard only to be told they didn't have any. Strange as the other offering was a mix of ice creams! Breakfast was ok but again served by the same glum looking lady from the previous evening. Also the wi fi didn't work Only stayed there as it was booked for me. Never again i think.

« Best Western Garden Court Aylesbury »

Ok for the price paid. Hotel needs a refurbishment. Breakfast choice was good apart from the cold uncooked pastries - still in packaging (needed reheating). Sofa bed was very uncomfortable. Receptionist on arrival was grumpy. Other staff were very friendly and nice.

    « Weekend break »

Room very spacious and clean. Décor somewhat tired. Small dining room, doubling as bar not warmly welcoming. Grounds beside hotel in dire need of improvement, could make a much more pleasant whole environment. Breakfast adequate but food not hot enough. FOH staff did not seem over enthusiastic.

    « Poor »

The photo's and description of the 'hotel' on the website are misleading........I don't expect luxury for £100 per night but expect more than Garden Court and restaurant - a stretch to call it a restaurant and - freezing when arrived and very dated............surely better places to stay for £100 per night

    « Depressing »

The first impression was not good. We had an indifferent welcome by the unsmiling receptionist who just seemed bored. The reception area was dreary as was the room. The curtain pole was dangerous as when opening the curtains in the morning the pole came off the support at one end and the substantial knob fell off narrowly missing my head. The pole was obviously not fixed properly to the brackets. WiFi was poor and the connection intermittent and I gave up. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bottom line is that I would not stay there again even though it was cheap. The whole place has a depressing atmosphere. I was glad we were only there for one night.

    « Needs a refresh. »

Was ok but for £75, no breakfast, I felt the room was very tired. I was meeting my friend who was over from Singapore, and location wise, was the closest hotel. On the plus side, it's in a lovely area, water mead and very pretty. Have stayed there before but got a good deal on the room that time.
