Best Western Athens

We stayed here for a road trip back home and all I can say is....it was horrifically bad. The room we were given had stains that looked like an adult film was shot on the bedspread. There were "oil" stains and something that looked like blood. The remote wasn't put back in the sanitizer, there was trash in the room trashcan, the phone just did a fast busy when we tried to call the front desk, and the TV didn't work at all. When I went downstairs, they did offer for us to switch rooms and the second one was better. However, the breakfast room had overflowing trash from the previous day, including full trash bags on the floor and the entire third floor smelled like old trash as a result. The next morning, breakfast was served with none of the trash having been removed. Finally, the guy at the front desk said he would bring up our ordered pizza when we switched rooms to avoid confusion. After an hour, we contacted the pizza place and they said it was delivered. I called down to the front desk and he said "Oh, I think I saw him go upstairs- did you check the hallway in front of your other room?" WHAT? After he offered to bring it up. Come to find out, the pizza was, indeed, sitting outside the previous room and was cold. If this was a cheap room, I wouldn't blink. But this was fairly pricy. NOPE

I have stayed at this BW in Athens 2-3 nights a week for the biggest part of the last year. The customer service is always exceptional. The room is always clean and everything inside the room is in proper working order. I will always come back to this hotel when in Athens!

When i choose Best Western for my stays i have a certain level of “high expectancy”. Luckily it was a weekday and wasnt too busy. The rooms were nice. But there was a lack of coffee and drinking cups and sweetner/stir packs in the room. As soon as we checked in we left to go walking around UGA and to a place for a cold libation. I told the front desk about the lack of cups, etc. When i returned a few hours later there “still” was a lack of cups, etc.So i went to the lobby and got my own. There was a also a learning curve for the tv and remote (no where was there a notebook that usually tells you about the room, ammenities, places to eat, channel selection and how to work the dang tv). Since i worked in a hotel as a maid back in college and spent some time in the Army i am very particular about cleanliness, especially the bathrooms and shower! For one thing the vanity lights were needing a bulb in the middle. And there was sheet rock plaster/paint hanging down in the shower. I also like the fact there was a used bar of soap left in the shower. And its amusing to see the hairs (some curly….) on the bathroom floor and in the tub still left behind. Luckily the AC was working and the breakfast was very good. The dining area was nice and spacious and the food was good! You cant beat eggs, sausage and biscuits w gravy. And one other thing. When you look online you can see they have a nice indoor pool. So we all took our swimsuits. When u get there you find to your surprise the “pool is closed due to covid restrictions”. Seriously? Did Dr Flaucchi stay there?

I arrived much earlier than expected (just before 1P) and the friendly desk clerk accommodated me with an early check in. I had booked a room in the 2 story exterior building but he put me into the inside building. The room was spotlessly clean and fairly large by today's standards with a large television equipped with many channels. I used the spacious refrigerator and the bed was very comfortable. Free Wi Fi was worked well. Plenty of free parking. The next day at breakfast they had cereal but no milk so I walked through the open kitchen door to inquire if they had any milk and a very rude employee yelled at me to "leave now" and I told him I wanted some milk for my cereal and he continued to scream "leave now." I did not want to confront this elderly employee and make a scene so I just left. Other than the breakfast incident, I was happy with the accommodations for the price paid. Not sure if I'll come back here again or not.

Pros: Clean Cons: Got two hours of sleep because of the noise from the air conditioner and the refrigerator. Air conditioner had two speeds - arctic air and sub-tropic humid. Sheets were as soft as a wool scrub brush and pillows were tiny. Curtains were only thin sheers so we awoke at sunrise. $10 parking fee. Checked out a day early and moved to another hotel. Sent video of air conditioner and refrigerator to Hotels.com and got a full refund

We really enjoyed staying at the Best Western in Athens GA. It is in a great location. The staff is extremely accommodating. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Every employee was so kind and helpful.

Super clean, well organized and friendly service. I'd definitely stay here again for its central location and amenities. The room had everything I needed and was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay.

I was in town for the weekend working a charity event, so I wasn't able to enjoy the clean room as much as I would have liked, but was able to interact with many team members early in the morning and later in the evenings. The lobby, hallways and room looked brand new. Special thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality from Conner, Parker, Jared and Mr. Eric!. Anita was also very accommodating for my early morning "free" breakfasts. What a great location to be right off of Broad Street and less than a mile from the middle of campus. This place is a hidden gem. I will definitely stay here again!

Great stay. Tripp and the rest of the staff were wonderful. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was nice. The housekeeping staff is great and we love Officer Davenport. Will be back in the future for our trips in Athens!

In town for a game. At the end of the night there was no parking at the hotel, nor in the overflow lot. Front desk only offered the business card of mgmt. Late at night a business card is not going to help park my car. He didn't offer any solutions nor seemed to care. It was my problem, not his. Noticed people leaving throughout the night, who had taking up parking spots. I had to asked for a parking pass when checking in. Obviously there do not monitor the parking situation. I would not recommend this hotel. We stay in Athens numerous times a year and at various other hotels. This one I would stay away from unless you park your car in the daytime and do not plan on using it at all during the evening hours. Once you move it or leave, good luck finding a place to park. Seemed to be the norm there. Security guard came to our rescue but we were still park in non-parking spot just hoping no one hit our car. Got up early to move vehicle.

The tower part of the hotel is very nice. The lobby, the room, and the breakfast area are very clean. The staff was nice. Easy and fast check in. The breakfast was good. Eggs, sausage, breads, pancakes, waffles, fruit, yogurt. The breakfast host was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The older part of the hotel was not a very nice area. It looked like it was full and people hanging out outside everywhere. It looked like they live there. They have an overflow area for parking for the guest that are staying in the tower.

Booked this one bc it didn't have tons of reviews about bugs and roaches, like many in the area did. It was quite a bit more, price-wise than the others I was looking into. This was a quick one night stay for a show at the Georgia Theatre. I paid way more than I wanted to, thinking it would be the safe and clean option…wrong!! Roaches, even in the bed! Just don't do it! Also, nowhere near enough parking for the amount of rooms! Very frustrating that I wasted such a large amount of money!

Not Complaints: ~It appears that this property was a different type of hotel that was purchased by BW. ~Property is run by college students and most of their customers are college students. ~Very close to UGA. ~Strange building and parking design. ~Lobby is on the 2nd Floor and the Breakfast is on the third floor. Pros: ~Room smelled great and was very nice. ~Rate was very affordable Cons: ~Parking was limited or you had to park in what appeared to be sketchy areas. ~Building layout consisted of a hodge podge of buildings...And it appeared that a building or two was housing homeless people. ~Breakfast was just okay, and there were "hippies" there singing and playing the guitar. Just my observations, don't get all defensive Mgt. Just not your typical BW and I have been to about 100 and I won't be back to this one. Don't get me wrong, it may be okay for a college student to stay here, but not for this old fart...lol

The hotel is very convenient to downtown Athens and the UGA campus. The hotel is within walking distance to one BBQ restaurant that serves very good food and it is easily accessible from major routes into Athens. Downtown and restaurants are a short drive/Uber away. Breakfast is very good with a nice selection of options of hot and cold food.

This was a situation where a friend needed a room for the night. The front desk person was extremely helpful and the transaction with me making the payment for the room was oh so easy. The room itself was clean, comfortable and quiet. My friend said that she "slept like a log"! I would definitely recommend this property and will probably stay here myself, when I visit the area. If you ever need to help a friend or family member to find a nice and safe place to stay, this is it!

Nothing different about this property. I travel with a animal. And experienced my animal getting fleas. Breakfast needs serious work. Pool was out of order, and wasn't posted on the website that was closed.

Stained bedding, stained and poorly maintained bathroom, room smelled like cigarettes, toilet kept making noise, could find other guests shirtless and shoeless walking hanging out in the parking lot, pretty noisy due to the proximity of the rooms to the parking. Will not stay there again.

This is a great location with a secure lot, close to many of the Greek houses on Milledge Ave. Easy walk to the houses. A bit of a longer walk to downtown. Staff was helpful. Note that the parking and inner lot is locked down, there is only one way in and out, by the main entrance, both on foot or in your vehicle.

Good value and met expectations for a 2 star hotel. Good location for visiting UGA. The room facing the street was noisy, pillow case had stains on it, the breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful and the front desk were helpful but mostly disinterested and apathetic during check in/out. It was fine for one night.

I have stayed at the Best Western in Athens for decades. The hotel is well staffed, clean and in a great location. There is no better place to stay in Athens. The staff is very good at Fall Football reservations and accomodations!

Staff was exceptionally helpful. Unfortunately, the specific land location is very sloped making access to hotel office a little more difficult. But staff is exceptionally helpful & eager to please. Thanks.

They exceeded my expectations. Very friendly staff and very clean hotel. We were on the 6th floor and had a pretty view out of our window. My friends and I were very pleased and couldn't of asked for a better experience. Thank you!

Dried vomit on the desk chair, sticky spilled beverage residue all over the headboard, dank moldy smell, stained and dingy fraying towels, HVAC blowing burned dust. No trash cans. No follow-up by management in response to my concerns. Rental rates for this sketchy, disgusting motel room $229 for first night and $169 for second night because there was a high school choral competition in town. Deplorable!

So I booked here Feb.5.2022. I booked a King Suite online through Price line for $170 a night plus a $50.00 deposit. Check in was at 3:00pm and I arrived at 4:00pm to check in so I get my keys and stuff to go check out the room, tell me why its a room with 2 twin beds, sheets and pillow cases had stains on them, bathrooms was nasty and also hair everywhere. Mind you I work at a hotel also so I know how it is suppose to be cleaned properly. So I go back to the front to let them know the shape of the room and I was offered another room, but still not what I booked. Moral of the story I didn't get what I paid for and this hotel is ran by a bunch of people who don't give a damn about they job, all at the store next door instead of cleaning these nasty rooms. The price I paid and the room I got was not equal all, my suite probably was given to a more deserving person if you know what I mean. And for that I will never return and will encourage others to spend their money else where because this location in Athens is a whole joke, from employees to the rooms. Also, I forgot to add how the toilet stopped up also and was not able to use.

I stayed at this property from January 27-29, 2022, and Tripp has been nothing but a great host from getting my room squared away before my trip and once I arrived. I highly recommend this place with no reservations. Thank you for everything, Tripp!!!!

Did not have hot water, no showers or even washing your face. Also, towels in the room were dirty. The front desk people replaced them and were nice. But when I asked about the water they just gave me an email address to report it. However, I have waited about a week and no reply to that email.

I checked in and went to my room. Standard hotel room nothing fancy but high price.As soon as I got to the room I noticed that the chair was sitting very low and tilted.I called the desk twice to get a replacement for the chair and got nothing. the next day I went to the desk where the same individual happened to be working and asked for a room clean and he told me that staff was gone already so I asked for towels and again I got nothing. customer service sucks. the attitude of this young man was deplorable. Don't stay here if you expect any sort of service

The Manager and his staff are excellent! Great breakfast alternative during the covid restrictions. Very helpful and accommodating! This hotel is conveniently located to most everything in Athens. Clean rooms and close parking.

Staff were very nice. The public areas were well lit and clean. My shower was barely operable, but was not corrected. Overall, this particular Best Western is fine. Although I recognize that the price charged during this football weekend was commensurate with other hotels at this time, the price was vastly out of line with the quality of the facility and amenities. I have stayed in a suite in New York City for the same price.

Hunter from the front desk was a great help! He was very professional and helped me with the problem I was dealing with! He displayed great moral character and a desire to ensure that the guest's experience was first! Thank you, Hunter!

My mother and i stayed in the main tower and had an excellent stay! Clean and very comfortable room. Small thing but I love their shampoo/conditioner products! Service by everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good: yogurt, chick fil a biscuits, waffles, and assorted pastries with coffee and juice- the lady working was such a hard worker, you can tell she is a motivated person and hospitality is her goal. (Didn't catch her name but she was working the morning of 9/11/21) After reading other reviews, I was prepared to park far from the entrance, but we learned there is a parking lot to the left of the tower that is for the hotel too. It was well-lit, and there were security guards working. Location was great, right on Milledge and just minutes walk from my son's fraternity house. Took Mom and I about 20-25 minutes to walk back from the stadium. Will definitely look to stay here again in the future!

I swung through Athens on the way to Carolina to pick up some things. I hadn't stayed in town in years. It was like coming home as we stayed at the BW before construction was completed. The tower rooms were fabulous. Trip and Hunter were welcoming and friendly. The only thing missing was the Varsity across the street. I would definitely stay here again.

Feces on the seating surface of the toilet seat. Once I saw this, I packed up and found somewhere else to stay. If this room was this bad, I imagine the rest were just as bad. The bed had been made but the sheets not changed. The comforter and sheets were freshly stained. Drink rings on night stands. Clearly the room hadn't been cleaned

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. Easy Parking. Great amenities. Definitely worth the cost. Clean and safe. They had a security guard on duty and he was also helpful and friendly.

The hotel was pretty nice and location was good for the price, but the room was dirty. There were stains on the sheets and bedding. Also parts of the room had stuff on the walls like spilt drinks and stuff like that. Seemed like it really wasn't cleaned well. Also the pool was closed and not listed as closed anywhere online. The workout center is terrible and shouldn't even be considered a workout center. The front staff was very nice and helpful until checkout when we were rushed out and threatened with a late fee after being told their wasn't a rush. Also no one was even at the counter when I went to check out while I waited for about 5-10 mins. Overall the stay was decent, but for the price it may have been better just to stay at a nicer hotel even closer to downtown for a little more money.

I usually start a review out with the good before I delve into the underbelly of bad with any industry, but this one takes the cake! I booked my room online a few weeks ago for a few months forward, no problem. I was looking forward to the location and ease at this property. That's where the good ends. Today, while at work, I receive a call from the manager, name starts with a J, chewing me out for being rude and malicious to his employee. I asked him to back up and tell me exactly what happened? I was in a meeting and did not at any time call them as I had no reason to since I had booked online. He said that my number popped up and he didn't believe me. I was shocked at the rude, obnoxious behavior. I told him it was possible that the employee was confused as I know my mother, that lives in a different state was going to call, and obviously did, to get a room by mine. He still insisted that it was I that called and he didn't appreciate my haggling the price and didn't want my business there and was cancelling my reservation. I then asked him, why would I have called you to reserve a room if I already had one? This made him even more irate as I caught him in a lie and he reiterated he didn't want my business. So I said fine, cancel my reservation as I do not want to do business or give my hard earned money to a company that doesn't value who pays their bills. Good luck J, I hope you find that happy spot in your life and hopefully a good therapist for that anger issue. As for the Best Western Company, I hope you take a good look at these reviews and notice a management problem and do something about it before your rating goes down because of it.

Our checkin at night with Tripp was great, he was grits d efficient. The security guard was friendly too! The lobby and rooms are stylish and the beds are very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel!

Bathroom was very dirty, the room was not vacuumed well and was dirty as well. The pool was closed and breakfast 2 of the 3 days we stayed was a chic fil a sandwich with no other accompaniments or beverages besides coffee and one of the days it was soda and chips from the snack area by the counter in the lobby that are there for purchase but they were offering them as breakfast replacement. It was supposed to be served on the third floor but all 3 days we stayed was served from the front counter in the lobby. Very disappointed

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The beds were comfortable and clean. Hot water was definitely abundant. We checked in after 11 pm the young man at the front desk was pleasant and checked us in very quickly.

They're tricking you! It has one nice tower in the front, maybe with a few rooms. The majority of the rooms are in the back. Once you drive through the entrance, you drive into what looks like a slum motel, with rooms that you enter from the outside and what appears to be drug activity. There are also very few parking spaces. I added one star to this rating because the front desk clerk did allow us to cancel our reservation after we arrived when we mentioned the hotel wasn't what it appeared to be. The front desk clerk just responded, "I know."

Check in and check out went smoothly. Pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of our room. We only stayed one night passing through Athens. Busy area outside the hotel but our room was quiet. Got a goodnight sleep in a comfortable bed before we hit the road again.

It's ok for the price you pay and location. Nothing fancy. Our room was ok. Place was quiet. They allow dogs. Despite “sold out”, parking spaces were available. Breakfast was extremely simple considering COVID-19. Internet was ok.

The room was dirty. The bedding and towels were stained. They didn't bother to clean. Found chip crumbs in my bed. Coffee maker and blow dryer did not work. Front desk was not helpful trying to fix this. Very condescending.

Tripp and his staff are very helpful and accommodating! This is a very nice hotel for the price and convenience of downtown Athens. The rooms are always nice, clean, and ready for us upon arrival. The premises are well lit and we feel secure to walk around anywhere in this area. We are frequent visitors of this hotel as UGA Athlete parents and would recommend this hotel to anyone especially with pets!

We thought it might be nice to be near campus and restaurants, but not so much. Lots of students staying at the hotel, the 2 story part in the back looked like a block party, on this Saturday night. Our room in the tower was quiet but needed to be cleaned better, ie sweep under the bathroom sink. We also didn't have a trash can in the room. The Sunday morning front desk person was great, helpful and kind. But he told me they sometimes have to evict people at 4am for partying. The next morning we tried to go for a walk before climbing back in the car, but the area was full of beer cans and assorted cups, etc. Very disappointing.

I booked the room on line because of the reviews I read but boy were we fooled when we arrived. The manager Tripp Moore and the front desk clerk Jared Intemann refused to rent us a room because my husband and I were laughing. I truly felt unwanted Jared also waved bye to my husband and laughed as we walked out the door. It worked out better for us because we went down the street to the Hampton Inn It was a Totally different experience. The customer service and the feeling of appreciation from the desk clerk was SIMPLY AMAZING and it saved us money as well. So I would NOT recommend this hotel

Hotel is nicely furnished, great location (downtown Athens), staff was very friendly, courteous, and attentive. The atmosphere was very quiet & peaceful. Very good amenities: indoor pool, exercise room, dining area, etc

I had an appointment at the UGA campus and needed somewhere close. The young man at the front desk was very kind and accomadating, my room had a mini-fridge, microwave and a small Keurig-like coffeemaker, the hotel is only a 10 minute drive to the vet. hospital, and the heat works very well. That is where the positive review ends. The sheets in my room were stained, so I requested clean sheets and made the bed. The room had an odor, there was hair and soap scum in the bathtub and sink. The mini fridge had food in the freezer that had frozen to the fridge and had to be pried off. Overall, it looked as though I'd walked in to someone else's messy house. When I go back, I will definitely stay elsewhere...in my car if I have to.

Wife and I driving all day stopped here on out way back to Ohio. It looks like a lot of construction workers stay here. There's a new part of the hotel but the kid working the desk didn't give us a room there. He put us in the old section of the hotel. Our room was filthy. Sheets had not been changed. A lot of wear and tear. We would have left but we're tired and didn't want to have to find a new hotel at night in a city we were not familiar with. Buyer beware!

This is one of the best places to stay in Athens especially at the Best western on Milledge ave. I stayed in the new part of the Best Western and was treated like a millionaire. They did everything they could to make me feel like I was at home.

My visits to the Athens Best Western (BW) were the result of my little dog, Ernie's, treatment at the UGA Veterinary School. The team at BW took every step possible to meet my needs. I was stressed because of the medical situation with Ernie. They were just very kind.

My husband and I work for 2 local hospitals. We stayed in this hotel for a couple of weeks in Feb. Sad to stay they don't care much about healthcare workers and treated us with distrust. They care about UGA groups though. Let me tell you there are plenty of great hotels in Athens Georgia , but not this BW.

Great place. Very safe and quite. The room I had was very nice. No complaints. Close proximity to the Piedmont Athens Regional hospital. Well define parking areas with plenty of lighting and security. No road noise and security was on site.

The receptionist man helped tie my friend's tie before our awards ceremony. He is pretty cool and pretty nice! I'd suggest wearing an untied tie. Best Western truly is the best! I mean Nathan I think his name was Nathan is pretty great.

Enjoyed the Best Western in Athens. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and updated with comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. Breakfast was good with plenty of options, my favorite was the pancake machine, fried eggs, and bacon.

Room smelled, towel soiled, and to top everything they gave another guest the key to our room. Guest came in and realized it was occupied. If my emotional support dog would of escaped , don't know what I would of done. The manager who as at the front desk that evening really needs hospitality couse

Our stay in Athens was very relaxing. The hotel was full with school and college groups, but we were not disturbed at all. The front office staff was friendly and very helpful! Best Western in Athens is a great value!

Jared was very kind to extend check-out time without extra charge to allow for an exam at UGA. Customer service like this keeps people coming back. Way to go above and beyond, Jared! You really made a difference...

Very convenient location close to UGA. Across the street from the Varsity restaurant which is a definite plus. Easy access into and out of facility. This facility is a great value for the money paid. Very clean facility with helpful staff. Breakfast was just perfect with a mixture of hot and cold items..

Very clean and pleasant stay each time I stay at the Best Western in Athens. Great service,rooms are always clean and very well maintained. Breakfast is top of the line.The location is perfect for anything in downtown Athens.

I enjoyed my stay here. Clean rooms, good accomodations and great location. This is about as close to campus as you can get. It's perfect for anyone looking for a good place to stay for football season.

Have had the opportunity to stay at the Best Western for most UGA Football weekends. Not 100% sure of the “older” portion of the Best Western (where the rooms are accessed from outside), but have stayed each time in the towers “updated” portion. Would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a place to stay in Athens. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and you're also a quick 5 minute ride to the heart of campus.

I stayed here several times over the course of the fall for UGA football games. The indoor renovations are great and my room was always clean. One of the best perks is the location! You don't get the pricey rates of one of the hotels downtown, but still are close to all the good restaurants, bars etc. Check in was always smooth and it was convenient that you could leave your car there on game days. Would recommend!

Your options for hotels in Athens are limited, don't overlook this one...The NEWLY RENOVATED Best Western has really nice, clean & new rooms in the tower. The redhead girl at the front desk is very nice, Tripp the manager is very accommodating & the girl in the breakfast room works super hard during busy wkend morning shifts. Super convenient option & highly recommended for families, my kids love the pancake maker in the breakfast room

The first time away from my family and I absolutely enjoyed my stay for the five days that I was there. The hotel was very clean and the service was amazing. I enjoyed the breakfast and how quiet and relaxing the rooms were. I didn't have any distractions or disturbances. Thank you Best Western for that priceless experience! I will be back

This a perfect location for our trips to Athens. The staff is friendly, and the rooms are clean. I would highly recommend Best Western Athens to anyone visiting the Classic City. Milledge Avenue is a great place to walk, and the fact that the Varsity is right across the street is a total bonus.

Stayed for one day in Athens to look at antebellum homes. Best Western upgraded us to a very nice room in the 5th floor. Room was exceedingly clean and comfortable. Provided many amenities such as microwave oven and refrigerator. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was helpful and courteous. Value for the price was excellent. I will highly recommend this hotel. It is definitely one of the best Best Western Hotels we have utilized.

I needed a 1 night stay before tomorrow's game. To my surprise it was across the street from the historic Varsity! I had a clean 2 bedroom. The breakfast was good, especially the Cheese Eggs and the “Popcakes”'(pancake making Machine).

Room was in tower, it was nice and clean, no complaints. Location was decent The website says: “Indoor pool Heated Indoor Hydrotherapy Spa” To me, this sounded like two facilities- a pool and a spa. Not so. It's a large hot tub, that's all. Kids use it like an indoor pool. Do not think you will relax in a spa at this hotel. Also, there was no half and half for coffee only Coffeemate.

We stayed the weekend of a huge football game and were very pleased overall. Staff was very helpful - went out of their way before and after our stay to make sure everything was good. Room was comfortable and perfect for our needs, location was perfect and within walking distance to downtown. We would definitely recommend the BW in Athens to friends!

You don't have to be downtown Athens to really enjoy a fabulous hotel with great service!! From check in to check out everyone was professional, kind and accommodating. Parking was easy for my daughter when she came to pick me up and location was great not being in crowded downtown area. Cheap Uber rides from downtown if you leave your car at the hotel and just uber to the hotel when you are done! I highly recommend this place!

Bought a football package for the season. Mgmt is friendly and easy to work with. The New Tower rooms are very comfortable, clean, cool, great location, and good parking access. Call direct to best western Athens for best deal.

Just be up front about your policies rather than blame them on a third party booking company. Also have the expertise to handle any customer confusion about your policies without a pompous attitude and canceling the reservation.

Stayed 3 nights at this property while moving our Daughter in to UGA. Stayed in an inside room, nice, clean and experienced no problems. Breakfast was the same each day, good, but would have liked some different options each day. The Spa was closed the firat night so couldn't use it but they finally got it up and running on our 2nd day. Also hours are 10a-10p for ther spa, and would like to see it open earlier. Only issue is parking, very time and down a steep grade, we had to park around the back of the building 2 nights which we didn't like, but it was a busy weekend. We would stay here again due to the price and location, although it is bot a quick walk to the downtown area of Athens and we wouldn't recommend walking it at night.

Fantastic service! The fellow working the night shift at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Our room looks brand new and it's so nice and clean. The price is great and the room is spacious with high ceilings. Next time we come through Athens we will definitely stay here!

I was part of a group for Camp Twitch and Shout. This is a camp dedicated to families and children with Tourette syndrome. This hotel was absolutely a dream for us. Anyone who has disabilities or has loved ones with disabilities should consider this location in a heart beat. Humane, thoughtful, and made us welcome. Thank you thank you thank you!

Stayed here as part of a group of parents with kids attending Camp Twitch and Shout nearby. Rooms are clean, bright, and fresh with EXCELLENT air conditioning! Small but well equipped workout room. Staff was super helpful and nice at every pass—always smiles and quick to attend to any needs. But most importantly, this hotel has been incredibly supportive of this group of people, many of whom also have Tourette. We've had access to meeting spaces to hang out and support each other. We've had assistance in helping other guests understand Tourette. I will absolutely be back here if I stay in Athens again.

Humid room. Non-smoking room that smelled like 3rd hand smoke. Pretty sure a cigarette fell out of my bed and there was blood on the comforter. Cramped parking lot. Other guests appeared to live there.

We stayed in the new interior tower. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean, fresh and comfortable. We loved it. We did not have time to check out the pool or spa area, but I'd bet it is nice. Both checking in and out the desk staff was friendly and helpful. Very pleased and would stay there again.

I highly recommend staying at the Best Western in Athens. The staff is as nice as can be, the location and new renovations to the hotel are impeccable. I will only stay at the Best Western moving forward, it has been my best hotel experience in Athens in the last 18 months.

The staff, from management to maintenance and all in-between are friendly, caring and responsive! Smiles abound everywhere in this place. From the warmest of warm welcomes, to chipper ladies serving and restocking breakfast, to housekeepers who greet you warmly this is a wonderful place to stay. Home away from home!

This property was viewed nice online, but was different when we arrived. We were fortunate to be able to switch to the new modern tower, that was fantastic!!! FRESH SMELLING!! Breakfast was very good. I'd like to stay at Best Western in other cities.

These other reviews made it sound like it was pretty awesome, but it's not up to standard. I don't like to leave bad reviews but this was worth noting as I wish I had seen a heads-up on this before I booked. If you stay in the older part of hotel- that is the problem here. Unfortunately the tower was sold out and we made do, buy it was dark, old, smelled bad, dirty bathroom floor...sketchy characters hanging around made us two girls feel uneasy. Didn't even want to try breakfast so left In a hurry in morning. Won't be returning.

This hotel is right at the edge of campus but it's perfect! Away from the “action” but close enough you are right there. Hydrolic spa pool—great for relaxing. Breakfast—-always stocked, open & large space available. Rooms felt very private Off season traveled (June), I can see parking being a potential issue for large events.

Check in clerk seemed confused and had difficulty giving us directions to restaurants; forgot to tell us where the breakfast room is and the next AM there was no one at the desk and we hunted for breakfast for 10 minutes- it is on the hotel 3rd floor BTW. He also told us the area to walk to restaurants was safe and close- 40 minutes later in the heat and sketchy neighborhoods, we found the place. Trash, broken glass, panhandlers all around the hotel and on the way to the restaurants. Whole area at hotel is paved so there is little ambiance and one small strip to take our dog out- and it was filthy. Housekeeping staff yelling to each other across buildings was less than pleasant at 4-6 PM and at 8 AM. Room was decent, plenty of parking, security guard and metal fnce surrounding the whole property but otherwise not up to expectations at all. We would not return.

Having stayed at all the hotels in Athens at least once over the course of the last year, Best Western was quite a surprise when I first stayed there. The renovated rooms are clean and the staff is extremely friendly. Considering the very low price I expected low quality, but the hotel is easily nicer than our Hilton or Graduate. The manager Tripp has gone out of his way to ensure we always feel well taken care of on each visit, and the rest of his staff mirror that level of service. It's a short walk to everything downtown, so I don't even bother looking at any other hotels when we come back to Athens.

The hotel is always clean and the staff is friendly. The staff also is very informative about the local stores and area events. it has easy access to all the best places in Athens. We love the breakfast!

Small room with poor bathroom. Wet room with slippery shower and small ramp to sit area was very unsafe. Overall clean but dark. Not worth the price for quality of room. Plus side..good breakfast and friendly staff

I made 4 reservations: 2 king rooms & 2 double bed rooms, 3 months in advance. When we checked in, all 4 were doubles. The guy at the counter managed to get us 2 Kings, but with effort because the hotel was totally booked. My husband and I had a king room in the new building (the tower) and it was very nice. However, the other 3 rooms, in the old part of the motel, which were NS, all had a smoky odor. Because the motel was totally booked, we had to bear with it. The motel has a very good complementary breakfast in a large, pleasant dining area.

I came to stay by myself, a solo female traveler, and my initial impression of the hotel was uneasiness. It was dark, the neighborhood doesn't look awesome at night, a college student was shouting while driving by, and the hotel doesn't look particularly appealing from the outside. I considered walking in and telling the front desk to cancel my room for the night. Only, I walked in, and the lobby is beautiful. It is clean and well-done, and it is stark contrast to the outside of the building. Add to that, the young man at the front desk was incredible. He was friendly and helpful. I asked him a number of questions that he was happy to answer and gave me the best information to maximize my stay. I then went up to my room in the tower and was even more pleased. The room was clean and new and incredibly comfortable. It was graduation weekend so there were many guests staying and I didn't hear anyone either night of my visit. My criticism is that at breakfast all plates and utensils were disposable. Not only that, there was no options to recycle the utensils or plate afterward - it all went in the trash. In 2019 there is no reason a large hotel chain can't choose biodegradable/recyclable materials or re-usable dishes. Putting the "choose green" tag on the bed to help the environment by not wasting water and detergent is downright insulting when this same hotel chain can't make an environmentally friendly decision for themselves.

We stayed in the tower section which is new. The older section has room doors that open directly to the parking lot. The location is in the heart of Athens by the university. The hot breakfast was great each morning. The staff does go out of their way to help guest. I did not rate five stars because this hotel does not accommodate smokers in any way. The do not offer anything for smokers to put their butts in and offer no designated area outside for smokers. It seems the hotel would rather smokers just throw their butts on the ground.

Best Western Athens is close to UGA and downtown. Rooms very clean with cozy beds. Suite is super nice and staff very welcoming - excellent place to stay ! General Manager Tripp went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of!

Have been staying at Best Western for several months now and this is the best value and hotel in Athens, I have stayed at 3 other hotels in the area during my business travels over the past year and this hotel by far has the most accommodating staff, breakfast is great, and an excellent location.

Really appreciated the kind and caring staff here at BW. Awesome place for a weekend getaway with the girlfriend walking distance to the downtown scene! Used the workout room and pool (heated) and the snack area had a ton of selections! Thanks for adding to an already great weekend!

This is not close to the downtown area, but it is a short drive. There is plenty of parking in the town. The hotel was newly renovated and was very nice. We really enjoyed staying there and would go back.

I took my family there and the manager upgraded us to a suite with no cost to us. The staff was really nice and helpful and the room was large and clean. The kids swam in the pool/spa twice and had a great time. It was a busy weekend and our room was still quiet.

I think your experience here depends a lot on whether you get a room in the newer tower building or the older, motel-style buildings with external corridors. I had a room in the tower and it was great, very quiet and comfortable and overall pretty clean. The breakfast offerings are the usual, but the breakfast area is spacious and the person running it when I was there was very attentive. The surrounding neighborhood contains some vacant buildings, and the 15-minute walk to UGA/downtown was fine during the day but maybe not so much so at night. Since there's a $5 "transportation fee", I would argue that parking is NOT free here.

Hotel operators are very nice and keep a tight ship with the breakfast and cleaning services. The newly constructed portion of the hotel is modern and spacious. Request to stay in the new constructed addition when reserving a room. Hotel includes a hydrotherapy pool and fitness center. Easy access to UGA and Downtown Athens.

The photos on this site and others are a bit misleading, that new tower is only a small part of the hotel, more than half are more motel-style rooms with exterior access. I think that is also why some of the reviews are OK. I was in one of the older, run-down motel-style rooms. The room was barely clean. The sheets had hairs and dirt on them. The floor was dirty, there was a tissue on the ground, bug in the bathroom and it just didn't smell great. Smelled old and musty. YUCK. There are some shady characters hanging around which made the outdoor access to the room feel unsafe. Staff was nice enough, didn't check out the breakfast or any other amenities inside. Tried to stay in the room as little as possible. I would definitely look elsewhere.

Shower had little black bugs in it plus black bugs on the bathroom floor. Hair also in the bathroom floor and just overall feel of the room was not clean! I'm amazed from city to city the differences between Best Western hotels. It's hit or miss!

Good location, 20 minutes walk from downtown Athens. Newly renovated. The lobby area looks brand new. The rooms are quite small, but clean and pleasant. Breakfast selection is satisfying. The pool/hot tub was an additional advantage;-)

Hotel was nice, location was great, staff was nice .... but cleanliness was terrible. Room, elevators, breakfast room were all dirty ... if they focus on getting everything clean (up to normal hotel standards), this stay would/could have been excellent.

OMG..... PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE PHOTOS THEY SHOW YOU! There is a newer part of the hotel, but that's not where you will get to stay. I booked a King Bed suite, and when I checked in I was told all they had was a double. Then I was sent to the Back of the hotel. Which is obviously a dated much older part. My room was dirty, there was dired up dog poop laying in the floor, crackes in the tub, dirt and grim swept into the corner. The AC/Heater would work right so we asked for two extra blankets. My wife was told we don't do extra blankets. This place is deplorable. Never Again! UDATE!!! So I removed this post right after I posted it. I figured I would give them the benifit of the doubt, after all we where only stayi g for one night. I don't know who. Mis represented to place Trip Advisor, Priceline or the hotel/motel. We then at 12:40 AM I hear a loud banging on my door, keep in mind my children(3 & 8)are sleeping. I figured it to be some drunk college kid looking for the wrong room, I mean we are right by the Frat houses. So I figured they would go away, well they didn't. I answer the door to see a security guard with the General Manager. I can see he is upset, and proceeds to ask me what going on. I said excuse me? He said why did you call price line and why did you make a post like that. I said well because priceline didn't book me in the right room, and as far as the post yes the room is dirty, the tub is cracked, the is infact dirt grime and debris in the corner of the bathrooms and there is dried dog poop I our room. We went back and forth for a while until I was told we "we reversed the charges, so now what do you want me to do..." I said what do you mean, are you kicking us out? He said well I am trying to rent rooms and I could have rented this one to somone else. By this time my wife and come outside she was completely appalled. While asking why they were doing this she made the comment, " I can't believe y'all are acting like this yet when I called the front desk and ask for extra blankets you told me" we don't do extra blankets" the situation became very uncomfortable, and I understand how the manager was upset with my review although it was a completely honest review even if I had woke up in the morning I want to lock the same review. Everything that I listed was the truth as you'll see in the photos below. After making a comment "I know people like you people who like gaming the system and trying to get something for free" the manager stuck his hand out it said fine you know what you're getting it for free and walks away. I told my wife I said why I won't be able to go back to sleep I said who knows if they're going to decide to change their mind and come beat on the door again my wife agreed. Well they came back this time with the extra blankets read originally requested two and a half hours prior. This time the manager had to pronounce in his hands 1 of the original post had made but had deleted and a receipt saying showing where everything is suppose to be refunded to Priceline. I went outside to talk to him even though by now I children or awake and it seems like he had had a chance to calm down it's still arguing the point that it didn't matter what he did is it mean if he charged my card again that I would just dispute it and have my card company reverse the charges and then I put him in a tough spot. He said I can't kick you out now that I know there's children involved, yet when I checked in I told him my reservation set for two people only despite me listening two adults and two children on the reservation so I can confirmed they would be OK and he said oh yes there good. He knew my kids where in there. Even if he wasn't happy with the post I made or the phone call to Priceline and since he apparently knew what I would do it regardless and the room is paid for why wouldn't you just wait until the morning when I check out address for situation instead of beating on a family's room door where everyone is asleep. Ads shot the new 2016 hotel, but you end up in the 1972 motel in the back.

I came to Athens for a gymnastics meet on Saturday...The staff was great...front desk and lady working breakfast did great job..Rooms were great and comfortable...So many choices at breakfast...many guests seemed happy like me!!

This hotel has extremely attentive staff and check in is very easy. We have found this hotel (tower portion new as of June 2018) to already be showing unfortunate wear. The caulking around the tub is moldy and the drain is already rusting. The breakfast tables already have the feet missing so they wobble. The room is nice but could have more attention to cleaning, like dusting the furniture and bathroom floors. Overall this is a great value and we will be back.

I normally don't write bad reviews for a business, but the experiences with this hotel is so bad that I have to write a review. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed for the price ($$) and rating (4 stars)!!! Dirty bathroom, dirty bed sheets, and crowed parking spaces all make the stay horrible and make the trip disappointing!

We have family and friends in the Athens area, so travel there regularly. We always choose to stay at the Best Western Athens.....in the new Tower. The staff and the experience is always top rate... We love the fact that it is across the street from the Varsity Restaurant and a short walk to Saucehouse Bar and Restaurant, which has become a regular hangout for us when there. Again, always an excellent experience.

We stayed a Friday night at this hotel. Let me start by saying the staff are great. They were helpful and friendly. It was the hotel itself we found so disappointing. The cost for a night was almost $300, for that kind of money I expect near perfection, we did not get it. The room was poorly lit, the carpet under the beds were full of popcorn, the iron cable was broken making it difficult to use and the a/c unit had a terrible rattling noise which prompted us to shut it off. The breakfast was typical reheated food service, pretty much the same at any hotel serving it. I expected better quality for the price of the room. There is no where for an adult to go get out of the weather and enjoy a cigar or other tobacco products. I don't think I will use this hotel again.

This is a wonderful hotel in Athens GA. It is an easy walk to the downtown area with all sorts of bars and restaurants, the Civic Center and the University of Georgia. It is a short drive from a variety of shopping. The rooms are all top notch. I found TV and internet to work well. Bathrooms have plenty of hot water. Beds are comfortable. The entire operation is CLEAN. Room rates are always fair.

This was the best hotel experience I've ever had! The staff was amazing and very accommodating! I felt very safe and comfortable staying at this hotel! Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Athens!

We spent the night here before an early appointment at the university veterinary hospital. This hotel is 15 minutes from the hospital, has dog-friendly rooms, and is close to downtown Athens restaurants. The bed was comfortable; the room was quiet and clean, with a work space, easy chair and microwave/refrigerator. The bathroom has a wide counter and good lighting. Breakfast is a buffet of hot and cold items. We'll definitely stay again.

Was surprised when I drove in seeing the motel room but the gentleman at the front desk explained to me that the hotel portion of the building was brand new and offered me a room on the 7th floor. Pleasantly surprised that everything was clean and I had a great stay.

Group rate for our room made this affordable & convenient. We stayed in the interior rooms at the suggestion of Jared. Nice staff, bed was comfortable. Quiet. Did not enjoy the parking lot & driveway entrance.

Enjoyed my stay while in Athens, January 2019. Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was great with plenty of options for all, really enjoyed the pancake machine and yogurt machine. I will be back in Athens next month and will be staying with Best Western again, great hotel and staff!

A very relaxing stay here over Christmas in the new tower. Our room was spacious and clean, very quiet and the location was very convenient to everywhere we wanted to be, both walking and driving. A special shout out to front desk employee Ernesto, who was especially helpful.

Excellent customer experience! Liz the manager and Tim and Tim at the reception desk are outstanding! Extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is great and the pool is really nice ! The area is super convenient to town and Atlanta highway. There's always parking and the Libby has coffee all day long. I will definitely have my out of town guests stay at the best Western in Athens !

This place was gross. I long black hair in my pillow, stained bed spread, I needed to plug a medical device in there was a used tissue behind the nightstand. Bathroom floor need a good sweeping. I bar of soap stuck to the wall in the shower. (I thought it was just an odd tile at first , then I opened the new bar and realized what it was. Bathroom door didn't latch.

The entrance to this location is a little weird. You drive in and go down in a hole. The parking isn't ideal for a single female or younger people. You can't park in the front of the motel. Depending on what time you arrive for your stay you may park along the side of the motel or in the very back. You have rooms that you enter from the outside or rooms that can be entered from the inside of the motel. On my stay I had a room on the inside of the motel. I had to park around the side and walk back up the hill to enter the motel. Good thing it wasn't raining! Not ideal at all. Room - ok Breakfast – well. When we got ready to check out the next morning there was someone else standing there waiting to check out. No one behind the desk. We waited and waited, no one. Finally, we looked up the number and called the front desk. A guy showed up but made no apologies for keeping anyone waiting. The motel sent an email asking me to review my stay. After my review I received an email from the General Manager, Liz Moore. Part of her response was: Because we did not provide you with the service you deserve, we did not charge you for the night of 8/17/18. Then if I need further assistance to call her and she left a number. I still HAVE NOT received that call back! Best Western DID charge me for the room, also! Still waiting on my money back. I guess that's the way it works. Send you an email like they're going to take care of things, but they never do.

We were invited to the U Mass game just a few weeks before the game. All of the bigger name hotels were booked, so we ended up at the Best Western. Our stay could not have been nicer. Within a few hours we felt like part of the extended family. Best Western hotels are owned by franchisees, and this one is owned by a local family. Tripp, the hotel manager, went out of his way to greet every guest at the pre-game buffet they had set up (gratis) for guests on Saturday before the game. Mallory runs the front desk and ensures check-in and check-out goes smoothly. Todd (not a family member) provides security and calm in the somewhat chaotic environment of game day. They also provide a very complete breakfast (who doesn't like biscuits and gravy, along with all the other more standard hot and cold items?), which is quite welcome preparing for the game and particularly while recovering on the day after. There are newer rooms in the tower at the front of the property, and these are preferred, but all of the rooms are neat and tidy. This is our go to hotel in Athens.

Having come to Athens for many UGA football games, we have tried all the hotels in the area. Booking last minute, we were lucky to get two nights here. Front desk people were very nice and provided free parking in their limited lot. Room on the lower deck was tight but the beds were comfortable. Location was good as we were across the street from the Varsity (needed to get my V fix where here) and within walking distance from downtown/Sanford Stadium. While we have stayed at more elegant venues the Best Western Athens fit the bill for this trip.

I have visited a number of hotels during football weekends, and many times the hotel staff does not deliver. That is not the case at the BW in Athens. Very nice hotel and an excellent staff. Very accommodating and helpful on a Game weekend. We will be making reservations for our next visit

Booked through another discount hotel website so I take full responsibility for the room that I received at this property. Upon arrival, everything looks new & shiny but there are still old rooms that are attached from the MOTEL version. It was a home game weekend so I knew prices would be higher, I just didn't realize that I would be paying $189/nt for a room that was probably at best a $40/nt room. The staff at check-in was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and had been redecorated but it was still obvious that it was completely outdated. Walls were paper thin & you could hear EVERYthing! The college kids bragging about their 'epic' partying at 4am right outside the door was lovely. This property is in an excellent location for walking. I would stay here again only after verifying I had a newer room, the older ones certainly aren't worth the ridiculous jacked up rates!

The hotel staff were extremely helpful, especially when we needed suggestions for dinner. The room was clean, well decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. A great place to stay for a football weekend!

We have stayed at the Best Western Athens several times and Tripp Moore, the hotel Manager is one of the most personable and helpful managers! He goes out of his way at each stay and from the first stay, worked hard to ensure our accommodations were the best they could be. We think he is an exceptional representative for the hotel property.

Tripp Moore, the representative with whom I made our reservation was most helpful in resolving a complicated issue for me and my best friend and our wives and family. He was very courteous and professional, and was a pleasure to do business with. He's a fine representative of Best Western.

Very clean, nice looking room with a great view overlooking Athens. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the price was reasonable. Not quite walking distance to downtown, but it was perfect for a night away!

We are in Athens for almost every home game and it certainly can be expensive! We have found that the Best Western gives us one of the best rates for game weekend considering the location is so convenient to campus. Tripp, the manager, is one of the most personable managers we have ever met. He goes the extra mile to make sure his customers are happy. The new tower is brand new and very nice and clean. We have also stayed in the older section and it is also very clean. The breakfast is good too!

We arrived late at night and we were surprised to find a dirty shower with towels used by the previous guests. In the morning we let the front desk know and they said they would send someone as soon as house keeping came in 40 minutes. 4 hours later we returned to the front desk and let them know that no one stopped by. They shrugged of the issue and we asked the ask the housekeeping staff ourselves. The manager followed us up to our room and accused us of not being grateful for our "early check in". We checked in at 10:30 PM the previous and paid for both nights. We did not have an early check in. I understand mistakes happen but our customer service experience was disappointing.

Some would find this property to be convenient because of its close-to-downtown location and they definitely would like a room in the tower rather than the older "court yard motel" section, but traffic and parking may be of concern depending on your arrival or departure time. We found our "tower" room a bit small for the king bed, but it was clean, nicely appointed and the bathroom was of good size, so for a one night stay, it was adequate. Another advantage is that it was located conveniently to the very large breakfast area where the offerings were average for a Standard (not a Plus) Best Western. Staff was cordial, although at bit hurried both at check-in/check-out. Overall, it was an acceptable stay for travelers just passing through and probably worth the money if you get a "tower" room.

Very friendly staff especailly at the front check in desk. Hotel was very clean with nice. The hotel is very close to town where there are several places to eat. Would definitely book rooms here again.

The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and we had the nicest man at the front desk greet us and quickly get us to our room! I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Athens! The hotel is clean, well kept and in a great location to town.

We were in town for a College visit with our son. This location is an older property that has been renovated, but they also added a new "tower" with brand new rooms. I believe that section is only about 6 months old at the time of our stay. The rooms were very nice, clean and quiet. Staff were great and the free breakfast in the morning was another nice perk.

This hotel is conveniently located to the Classic Center. Although the Center is about two miles away, unless you are accustomed to hilly walking, driving is probably the best method. The hotel was easy to get into and out of.I had a double room with a beautiful window view. All rooms that I saw were inside of the hotel which is a plus for a single person traveling. The bathroom was an amazing size and there was plenty of room. The only downfall that I experienced was that the bathroom counter was a little longer than I am used to and I had to stand on my toes to brush my teeth...I know, it's weird. The water temperature and pressure were perfect. There was amazing lighting in the room and restroom as well.I was able to have breakfast the last morning I was there. I was definitely one of the better ones I have had before. Definitely NOT the donuts and coffee experience. There were eggs, bacon/sausage, pancakes, cereals, a variety of breads and juices. It was wonderful!

Randomly found this motel late one night while traveling. The room was comfortable. Had breakfast with lots of options to eat. Bacon, eggs,biscuits and gravy, cereals, muffins etc. Bathroom was very small. Could hardly move around.

Tripp was wonderful helped get my truck and trailer parked and out of the way.. the pancake machine was awesome Everyoneand everything was wonderful I was able to walk to downtown Athens also was able to do laundry and there is a great burger place across the street.

Best Western staff was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Room was clean and pet friendly. Hotel is conveniently located near UGA law school. Breakfast is included and the hotel has small pool/spa with jets. The gym has a treadmill, elliptical, bike and a good amount of dumbbells. Perfect for for quick business trip with pets.

The tower rooms are spacious, quiet and we always look forward to coming back to the hotel after working all day. Staff is courteous and very friendly. Extremely clean, spacious rooms. . Convenient location.

I'm a returning guest who had a stay here last year. The expansion truly exceeded my expectations. The new rooms and renovation are excellent. Upscale accommodations at a very competitive price. Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious deluxe hot breakfast. Make sure you bring your swimsuit to enjoy the new jet spa.

I do not understand the terrible ratings. Maybe they stayed in an old section of it.. We stayed in the part that opened 3/26/2018. The room was very nice. The manager (the owners son) was very nice. Spent at least 30 minuets talking with him. The only thing I saw that was terrible was all the tax's. $18.50 I would guess at the end of the year after all other tax's are added the government will get more than what their profit is.

We found Tripp to be an excellent asset for Best Western at this location when we went to visit friends at UGA! He is kind, courteous,knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. The hotel is new and clean and close to the UGA Campus.

Very clean room. Staff very friendly. Lobby area and breakfast are clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was fresh with good choices. Beds were comfortable. No noise heard in hallways or room. Convenient to restaurants.

Stayed here night of August 7, 2018. Upgraded to brand new tower room for same price. It was a really nice modern and clean room. Walked to downtown Athens, GA with my husband for dinner. Encountered a few hills while walking but it was good exercise. A full complimentary breakfast was offered in the morning. Got a real deal here. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel room was bright and clean. The temperature of the room was nice and cool. The bed was very comfortable. The shower worked well. Parking was easy. The staff were friendly. The room is a great value and the hotel is in a convenient spot to downtown Athens.

Staff was friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean. Would definitely stay here again! Close to University of Georgia. My daughter would have like a bigger pool but other than that we were very satisfied with our stay. Breakfast was good too. Lots of choices.

We just spent two nights at the new BW tower in Athens and it was way better than expected for the price: Fresh, clean room; modern, airy breakfast lounge with tasty food; friendly staff; very close to UGA campus. Will definitely stay there on future visits to Athens.

Touring Athens, Georgia and cane upon this gem for us to stay in. We stayed in the newer rooms on fifth floor. I called and spoke to Tripp, he set us up with great room for those with a disability. First the lobby was super nice (see photos) it had a computer area for guests to use and coffee/tea to enjoy. We had a really great spacious room (4 of us) that was spotless. Had microwave and mini fridge too. Tv had great cable channels by the way. We all slept great. The bathroom was big and they accommodated us with more towels. After a great sleep we went downstairs to breakfast, bit were we surprised. Breakfast (forgot to photograph) area was immaculate, there was an employee there making sure everything was stocked and cleaned, she was super sweet too. They had a pancake machine (yum), eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, cereals, breads, muffins, good juice, coffee, pastries, etc. we are well. The entire building was well maintained. The indoor pool looked great too. I would definitely stay here again. I can't say much about outdoor building or other rooms but ours was five star. I'm uber picky so much so I always travel with Lysol wipes and pull beds to check them. Everything great here. Took photo of room, excuse our stuff in photo ??

My stay was extremely pleasant. I was in town on business and I was very relaxed and ready to get my business taken care of with ease. I had a very nice sleep and plan to visit again very soon. The staff was great this time around my room was great, and I will recommend the Best Western to all of my friends and family. Best Western (way t go!)

I stayed at the Best Western with my wife and one of her friends for a wedding we were attending in Athens. I highly recommend this property! We stayed in the newly constructed tower and were very pleased. The room was HUGE, the staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable and the maids adequately cleaned our room each day. The breakfast and coffee selections were fantastic as well. There was plenty of room for my wife and her friend to get ready each day. The room had a couch and a fridge for our convenience. The hotel is conveniently located near downtown and is a short walk or Uber ride. I will definitely be booking here again when visiting Athens for fun or for a football game. 5-stars!

Easy to find location in Athens. Bed and pillows were excellent. Nice size flat screen TVs with lots of channel options. Hot breakfast served in the morning, great food options and service. Will definitely be back!

We stayed at the Best Western Athens last weekend for a friend's wedding, and were blown away at our experience. Our room was in the newly constructed tower section of the hotel and the room was HUGE, with plenty of space for the 4 of us to comfortably get ready and relax. The room also had a refrigerator and microwave. The gas station right next door is an easy walk for snacks and drinks. Also the legendary Varsity restaurant is right across the street. Extremely friendly staff - I will definitely be looking to book at the Best Western Athens again for an upcoming football game.

One of the top hotels in the area in terms of comfort, staff, location, and a free breakfast. I frequent Athens often for work and my usual Marriott hotel was sold out so I gave Best Western a chance and their hotel in Athens, GA is my new go-to hotel. Will recommend to all colleagues, friends and family.

The hotel was great. The complimentary breakfast was fabulous. I really enjoyed the pancake machine and the yogurt machine. I also liked the spa pool. My overall experience was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

We stayed here for 4 days and found the hotel to be very clean, great location and everyone from staff to general manager to be friendly and courteous. We have booked our son and girlfriend there for 2 weeks while they wait for their new apt! They were very generous in helping out with their pet fee for such a long stay. Yes, and pet friendly too!

Mallory in group sales is a lifesaver, she was able to accommodate our large group last minute and made booking all the rooms so easy! I cannot thank her enough for her kindness and wish that every hotel our team deals with had a sales manager like her. Tripp is also a great employee, he allowed our team to utilize the meeting room free of charge and even provided complimentary snacks and water before our team's matches. I will recommend this clean and comfortable hotel to any friends or family that will be traveling to Athens in the future! Great job Best Western Athens, keep up the great work!

The price point was perfect. Best Western will grow to compete with home hosting sites if they continue to find this balance between clean, affordable, aesthetic, and positive. Most people choose home hosting sites nowadays because they do not care for the cost of hotels in the same range or even a few dollars below the same range of the price point. They find that the local experience offered by hosts coupled with how hard the host tries to get their business exceeds a broadly managed hotel chain. BW has re-branded it seems and as someone who promotes home hosting stays, I must be honest that the next time I am on a trip I will consider if the Best Western is a 'new' one and if the price point is below $100.00 before I book on a home hosting site; well done.

Everyone was so nice, including Diane in the breakfast bar. Yummy hot breakfast. Loved the homemade pancake maker! Room was exceptional! Very comfortable and clean. Quick internet speed and nice business center. Close to everything...will be back for sure!

The rooms are comfortable, the staff is nice and competent, and the hotel is conveniently located for University and downtown-related activities. The pancake-maker and the yogurt dispenser at breakfast were both fun to use! The drawback is that rooms that are not in the tower (or at least my room) are very humid during the warmer months.

Don't look any further.... this is the best hotel, I have stayed here twice and this hotel is exceptional!! Always clean and staff is always friendly, the night desk assistant, Emma was AMAZING!!! She was an angel! So helpful and friendly and quick!! I will always stay here when i need to!! The breakfast is GREAT!! Perfect place to stay!!!!

I have stayed at several hotels in athens but I had never had such a warm cheerful greeting like I did at the Best Western. Emma was able to get me checked in with no issues and was so chipper that it made the rest of my stay feel warm and welcome. Thank You for the great service!

Long gone are the days of the Best Western motel experience of the past. This ultra-modern redesign shakes off the roadside inn of yeasteryear and brings the hotel into competition with the better chains of today. The staff, especially Emma, were helpful with my late check in, were accommodating with my early checkout, and very helpful when it came to locating resources I needed during my visit. The room was large, clean, well furnished, and better than some 4 star hotels where I've stayed in the past. The self-serve breakfast included a hot breakfast of eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy, and the pancake maker. The healthier items included yogurt, an assortment of fruits, and oatmeal. Of course, there was an assortment of juices, milk, water, and several coffee selections as well. The next time I return to Athens, I will definitely stay here again.

Great size room with 2 queen beds and a large bathroom big enough for my family of 4 during a weekend trip. Front desk staff was cordial and helpful. We ate breakfast one morning and it was great. My two teenage aged kids loved the indoor spa and sitting in the jets. When in the area again, Best Western will be our top choice.

Jared & the Mgr at the front desk were super nice and understanding when I showed up & was uneasy about having an exterior room. They were able to upgrade me & I'm so happy with my room. I would definitely stay here again!

Very clean room....good breakfast....Noisy at 2:30 am to 4am.....drunks and party kids came back from the bars....we would still stay again if we were in Athens! The only problem was the eating places were miles away and we were in Athens for the first time....

The staff was so awesome when I was trying to find a room. Also, my room felt super comfortable + CLEAN. The area is walking distance from many great food spots in town. Will be going back and recommending to friends!

The breakfast was great. Our hotel room was very clean and there were a lot of towels which was very nice. The staff (especially Emma) were very helpful and responsive to our inquiries. Also right next to the Varsity. It's a brisk walk from downtown Athens but we liked that!

In Athens this week staying at Athens latest addition to the Athens skyline,the new Best Western 7 story tower.the rooms are great, free breakfast,free WiFi,free parking,weight room. Spa pool and much more.great location easy in and out.Was greeted at front desk by Jared who was really polite and had all the answers to the guestions I had about the area and places to eat.A great place to stay

Though I've stayed at this location many times, the recent opening of their new 7 story tower really raised the bar for this hotel. Getting in and out of the hotel is easy and the parking is free and plentiful. A big bonus is the excellent customer service that the hotel offers. Long time employee, Jared, checked me in, and in his usual straight forward and professional manner, he welcomed me and took the time to point out all the new amenities that the hotel has to offer, including the indoor hydro-therapy spa. I was also very impressed with the much expanded breakfast offerings, and the excellent quality coffee.The new rooms are very well decorated and very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to satay in the downtown Athens area. The downtown area is an easy ten minute walk.

The room was cleaned very well and smelled nice. I'm big on a clean bathroom and shower, which was clean as well. Could use more parking and entrance space but overall the stay was great. I recommend this place to anyone visiting the Athens area.

Great stay in the hotel's new addition, rooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable! Free breakfast comes with the room and has many options including a pancake machine, self-serve yogurt, omelets, and bacon. I will definitely be returning to this hotel my next time in Athens.

Walking distance to downtown & UGA. All but 1 entrances/exits are blocked so it's claustrophobic and confining. Tiny room with tiny bathroom. Non smoking room with strong cigarette odor. Couldn't figure out how to turn on air- broken? Did without as not in room for very long. Would only recommend if you can get room for <$75.

We had the most amazing view of Athens from our room. The room was impeccably decorated and so clean. The staff went over and above expectations making sure that we had everything we needed. The breakfast was a delightful surprise and greatly appreciated. My son loved the pancakes! I would highly recommend this Best Western and we will definitely be back.

We were on the 7th floor and the view of UGA was amazing. The room was beautiful and so comfortable. The treat was the relaxing pool/spa that felt so good after a long day of walking around Athens. Would highly recommend!

If you are visiting Athens GA for whatever reason and you do not stay here, you are doing something wrong! This is the nicest hotel in the area and with the new renovations it is by far the best one to stay at! This is a family owned and operated hotel, so they are sure to make you feel like home with each and every stay. The location is prime as well as the access point! Make sure to check out the pool and the new breakfast area :) Thank you for all of my stays that I have had and all the stays I will have in the future!

Management will kick you out of this Hotel if you tell them your not happy with something! A lady walked into my room with out knocking or announcing herself, claiming to be house keeping after house keeping had already left. Complained to management no cussing, no screaming, just telling you I'm not happy kinda tone. Next day I was told since I was so unhappy I needed to leave. Even though I had prepaid for another night. That's Right they kicked me out, because I complain about a violation of my privacy! I will stay here again and don't recommend it to anyone whom values their privacy or doesn't Mind sharing their opinion!

The lobby is pleasant for gathering, but the surrounding area of the hotel appears quire running-down. The room is quite clean but window is a bit too small. It is not a good place to walk around. The staff are friend and very helpful.

No matter what price you pay, your room should be CLEAN at any hotel. Checked in with my sister in law and immediately found gnats/fruit flies in abundance all over the sink and mirror in the bath area. Called the front desk and was told "yeah, we have a problem with that row of rooms, I'll be right down to give you keys to another room." SIL and I moved our bags to the next room only to find FILTH. Pure filth. The TV remote, even though being placed on a cardboard stating it was "cleaned for you" was FILTHY. It looked like someone had been eating Cheetos and watching TV! Towels were THROWN on the over-head rack in the bathroom and on the hand-towel rack. We couldn't decide if they'd been used or lazily placed so that they looked used! But the clincher was all the stains on the white bed spread. If it had been washed, something horrible happened on it before that, but we chose to believe it hadn't even been washed. It seems crazy that we would move one more time, but we did! It was LATE and we were TIRED! This (new) rep came down with the next set of keys, agreed with us, checked out another room and AGAIN, we moved our bags and settled into the new room. It APPEARED clean, but after seeing what COULD be, we had little faith in housekeeping that it actually was. I did the best I could with some Lysol wipes to EVERYTHING and we got a few hours sleep. We couldn't turn the heat on although it was chilly because the burning smell was horrible and frightening. In the morning we were late (11:05am), not because we enjoyed our stay but because we were so tired we couldn't move quickly enough to get out of there! DON'T do it...don't stay unless they have a room in the NEW building available and you pay $50. Saving the money isn't worth your sanity! I'm sure people stay here once and because of it's location, they just have enough first timers to keep their business going. There is no reason a sane person would return to these tired, filthy and smelly rooms. Just an FYI, I travel frequently and DO NOT NEED LUXURY, just clean.

The new tower is opening 3/26/2018. We visited 3/23-3/25 to visit UGA for sorority weekend. I should have known when there were empty rooms here. The room smelled, linens dirty. Unfortunately we booked through Priceline so no refund. Thankfully we were able to get in Hyatt place for 3/24. $40.00 more for the night. Immaculate, breakfast great. Not sure the new tower will change the don't give a darn attitude.

The tub wouldn't drain and shower curtain didn't work properly. I paid $400 for two nights at a Best Western. I'm far from cheap and was disappointed in the room. I had come to terms with the price and the bathroom is what made the entire stay horrible

Room was clean, bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water. Very, very quiet in the room even though they have construction going on. Breakfast was great, coffee was good. I stayed the 9th and 10th of January 2018 for the GPCA winter conference at the UGA. If I stay in Athens again, this hotel will be my first choice. Excellent value for the price I paid. Keep up the good work. All of the employees were friendly and courteous, especially the front desk personnel when checking in and out. Highly recommend.

Very clean and quiet. Quick check-in with comfortable beds, and quaint location. Would happily stay again. They are currently under renovation and will be in a new building very soon. I look forward to my next stay

Staff not very helpful. Facilties not as per the cost. I felt cheated by the hotel in terms of quality of room and wi-fi facilities. What is advertised, is not in reality. Rooms very narrow. One should think twice to stay here.

I requested a wake up call before got ng to sleep. I didn't get it and was 20 minutes late with no shower etc. this caused me major problems. Bed was comfortable. Room was ok. It was clean. There was a coffee maker but I didn't get coffee due to oversleeping.

Our family stayed here while in town for a UGA football game. The desk clerk was polite & helpful! Our room was clean. After the 1st person in our party got a shower, water was standing in the tub, so we called the front desk. The employee promptly came with a snake to try & unclog the drain; he was friendly & polite. Our 2nd person took their shower, & water was standing again. We called the front desk, & the same man came to try & unclog it again. Once again, he was very polite & understanding. The employee couldn't unclog the drain, so he moved us to a nearby room. All the while, he was courteous & understanding. We greatly appreciated this! They also had a complimentary breakfast that had a good selection!

We really liked the service at this establishment and the free breakfast was very delicious! It was a hidden gem in the city of Athens, GA, where hotels seem to be a bit pricey. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. We were visiting the UGA vet school and they (the staff) were wonderful with directions and helpful recommendations for restaurants. Also the room's location was off the main street and quiet.

I took a chance on walking in and hoping for a room on a UGA game weekend after having an unfortunate incident at another hotel. I am so glad I did! Tripp was the friendly face I needed at that moment. The BW only had a room available for Saturday, but Tripp took the time to call another hotel to see if they had any rooms for one or both nights. Who does that? I was so happy that he took the time out of his hectic day to help me. I ended up splitting my weekend between the one hotel he recommended on Friday night, and returning to the BW that Saturday. This is a great hotel for game day. Clean room, friendly staff, and plenty of parking (even with the current construction everyone is complaining about). And, it is close enough to the stadium that you can walk to and from the game.

Unfair to rate motel while in the middle of construction. Staff and cleanliness/comfort of room--though obvious old motel--indicate it has been, and will be an excellent place to stay when all work is done. At present, it is awkward to get to rooms, and to lobby for breakfast, but that is, I believe, temporary.

This was a last minute overnight stay. The breakfast was one of the best I have had at a hotel. The staff was very polite and willing to make sure you enjoyed your stay. I would recommend as a nice hotel in Athens.

Under Construction, need to extend more when being inconvenience, refrigerator very noisy, bugs in room. Getting to room could be dangereous, there is a step down that could cause one to trip. Refrigerator very noisy. The room had bugs, i think they are called june bugs or stink bugs

This room was adequate, but the noisy refrigerator,difficult access to this amenity. Bugs in my room, would not look at this hotel as a first choice if i book again, I was not happy here. Under construction.

Great location, clean rooms and they have been newly renovated. Also the hotel is under construction but they have done a great job of working around it. The mattress was not very comfortable but is new. The outlets in the room had faulty electrical outlets

Unfortunately, we have had issues with our stay this weekend at Best Western Athens. We were assigned room 221. It is part of the motor lodge that is the current BWA. They are developing a tower with an additional 30 - 50 rooms slated to open early next year. Well the old place's A/C was off upon entering 221. There was no on/off switch and the unit looked warn out. I called the desk and they attempted to talk me through but it was obvious that 221's unit was not standard. The staff said they would come right over. Well we left for Friday night dinner. Upon our return, the A/C was still not running and the room was sweltering following a 95 degree day. Needed to call the front desk again. This time a person came right over and needed to crawl on the floor and reach his arm under the unit and re-trip the fuse. It has worked since. Tonight, the room was shorted towels and the staff disposed of the shampoo and conditioner and soaps without replacing them. Right now my wife is walking around the corner to get towels, soap and shampoo. But, we do have toilet paper! The room is actually not bad and the design is fine. If it weren't for the blunders, I would be assigning 4 Circles. Because I have had to be housekeeper and maintenance attendant on this trip the hotel is demoted to 2 Circles and I even contemplated a 1 Circle review. By the way, Game Day rates are over $400/night for a motel of probably $70 value ordinarily.

Best Western, Athens, Ga., is a great value considering the competency of the staff and the cleanliness of the room, as well as, entire property. It's located centrally to UGA and the town of Athens.The breakfast-included free-is really good and the entire staff tries hard and make you feel like a valued guest. I highly recommend this affordable hotel if you're in need of a place to stay in Athens!

Traveling between Florida and North Carolina with three lovely cats several times a year gets old - this year I've decided to break up the trek. Athens is a good stopping point. To be sure all was going to be well on arrival, I contacted the motel personally (a good idea if there is anything but the standard check in, I've found.) I first called to learn their pet policy. I then called to reserve a room. Then I called to cancel because of hurricane Irma lurking. Then I called to rebook. Each contact was most pleasant and informative. All came off without a snag, and the only requirement they have is that your pet(s) be in carriers if you're not in the room. That seems sensible for them and for your pets' safety. Construction of a high rise addition is going on, but that really didn't bother us. The habitable part is older style two story buildings with at the door parking. Our room had clearly been renovated recently with new bath fixtures, new lighting, very comfortable beds with contemporary linens, microwave/fridge, and flat screen t.v. Our room was not particularly spacious, but it had everything we needed. I might prefer the tower when available - if the pet policy will be the same. Rarely have I encountered nicer front desk people; that counts for a lot.

We had to evacuate from Naples and made Athens GA our destination. The hotel is undergoing construction and is not a pleasant atmosphere. However, EVERYONE of the staff, from the Breakfast Lady to the Manager(Liz) were gracious, friendly, and attentive. Mallory, during a power outage caused by Irma, went to every room and passed out emergency LED's. Breakfast was great.

During my stay everything was perfect. I have no complaints. The breakfast was delicious and nutritional. Mallory at the front desk took care of every need I had. I would definitely stay again next time I'm in the area on business.

The front desk staff was very pleasant and polite. The staff working in the breakfast area made sure that everything was clean and plenty of food. I requested an extra pillow and it was brought to my room extremely fast and the person made sure I didn't need anything else. One of the best hotels I have stayed at in the recently.

A new hotel is being built, but it would have been nice to know that before booking. We woke up for four mornings with noises of construction. They allow pets which is great for people who need that service however I am not a pet owner and I did not appreciate waking up to the neighbors dog barking every morning. The Blow dryer in my room did not work. They charge a $250 smoking fee, I am not a smoker yet my room stunk.

The location of this Best Western makes it a good choice for anyone visiting Athens GA. Easy to find and close to the downtown area. The room was very comfortable and was reasonably priced. I will stay here again on my next trip to Athens.

The staff was friendly and accommodating, offering a fine dining location for that evening. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was really comfortable. The wifi worked well. The breakfast was pretty good. The parking lot was well illuminated.

Overall the stay was fine. The outside looked a little rough, but inside everything was up-to-date and clean. WiFi was good, and I've certainly had worse hotel breakfasts. Minor hiccup with the staff thinking I had checked out a day early, but easily resolved. Otherwise the staff was nice and pleasant. Great location in Athens if you have business at Piedmont/Athens Regional hospital.

Went to this Best Western to relax in there whirlpool tub after having some minor surgery my incisions sites had healed and I thought it would be nice to sit in a whirlpool and feel the pressure of the water jets on my back. I live only 40 minutes away and had stayed at this hotel before in their whirlpool room so I felt confident I could achieve the relaxation I was seeking. But NOT the case at all....I checked in to the hotel and was greeted by a nice young man who was very friendly and helpful. When I got to my room door my keys didn't work so I used my cell phone to call the hotel and the young man came right out to open my room door for me, My room was on the second floor of an outside access building in a separate location from the office,lots of men standing outside of their rooms smoking drinking and socializing, it was almost 10pm and I was not going to go back down stairs and put my bags back on my car and drive back to the office. Anyway the young man let me in my room and apologized for my inconvenience. So after unpacking my things finding something on the tv to watch I started running the water in my tub making sure the water level is above the jets and get in the whirlpool and push the button to turn on the whirlpool and nothing ...I had to get out get dried off put clothes back on call the front desk and tell the young man that the Jacuzzi wasn't working, he says he would contact maintenance. So about 15 minutes later there's a knock on my door and it's the young man and he apologized that maintenance man wasn't going to be able to come because he was already asleep and wakes early at 3am but he said he would try to fix it so after a few minutes the young man tried the reset button to no avail and also used a flat head screwdriver to push down the power button on the Jacuzzi but still it wouldn't come on, he apologizes to me and says I'm sorry I see you have a bottle of wine and I know you just wanted to relax but unfortunately I don't have another room with a Jacuzzi to move you to but maintenance could look at it tomorrow and possibly fix it or if not we would definitely be able to move you into another room with a whirlpool and of course it would be comped. I had already had a glass of wine and was sipping on my second so I definitely wasn't about to drive home at this point,So I said that's fine I appreciate you trying to fix the Jacuzzi I said will you just call my room when either maintenance is coming or another room is ready he said yes we will. Next morning I get in my car to drive to the office to get breakfast @7:15am and as I'm leaving I walk up to the guy (a different young man) at the front desk at confirm that someone will be calling me when another room or maintenance is ready he says yes so I get in my car and drive back to the building where my room is and go back to sleep. Next thing I know is housekeeping opening my door luckily I had the latch on otherwise she would have just walked in,I looked at the clock it's 9:00am so I go back to sleep the next thing I know My door comes open again this time it's the the housekeeper and she's asking me are you staying another night so I get up and open the door and I'm telling here about my situation and then I ask why do you open the door and not knock and why so early check out isn't until 11 anyway. We're just checking to see if you stay or go, anyway I call the front desk and ask what's going on apparently the housekeeper wasn't told I was staying and why do the disturb guests so early? The guy apologizes and says one moment let me see what's going on and then a woman gets on the phone and says maintenance is coming up to fix the Jacuzzi but we are not comping you a room for tonight either and the Jacuzzi was working yesterday. So I told her how rude she was and asked to speed to the manager she says she was the manager. So couple minutes later maintenance comes banging on the door keep in mind it's still not 11 yet wanting to come in to fix the Jacuzzi but the manager has already informed me I'm not getting a comped room for the next night and I still have to pack up my things and I'm not dressed so I told them to come back after I get my things packed and my clothes on. Then I go down put my things in the car and drive to the office where I turn in my keys and ask for a receipt and then I ask to speak to the manager, she's on the phone and then she comes around tells me the boy who said that they would comp my room for another night wasn't authorized to say that. Well I didn't know that and then I asked her since you can't comp a room with a working whirlpool then give me my points back from last night and I'll use them to book a room tonight in an other whirlpool room she said she wouldn't do that either I said ok I'm calling corporate and ask for customer care and make a formal complaint. She said go ahead so I did while I was on the phone with corporate I sat in my car, I realized I had left my water bottles in the room and I drove back around to the building and asked the housekeeper to let me in the room to get them and she did and as we were coming out the manager was coming to the building she looked up at me and said you are no longer a guest and you need to leave or I'm calling the police. I'm so shocked and annoyed at the same time I have never been treated so horrible at any hotel before in my entire life. Also discovered that they had charged my credit card 35.00 and there should not have been any charges being I was there as a platinum rewards member using my reward points in addition they canceled my reservation and I'm sure so that I wouldn't get a survey and it cost them points on Medallia ....because she was Adamant that she would not return my points or give me a comped room,but at the same time I'm glad they did that was all I asked for if they couldn't accommodate the promise of a complimentary night in a room with a working Jacuzzi not too much to ask... but it was obvious that customer service skills were definitely absent in this particular manager especially from reading some of the reviews in yelp , Expedia, etc. There is a lot of construction going on at this Best Western they are upgrading the property to a Best Western Plus Which looks to be potentially promisingly nice I hope they plan to upgrade the manager to one with customer service skills .... the I Care moto that stands for Interact with every guest/every time ...Can Do!! I am empowered ....Ask questions and listen to understand my customer ....Resolve the problem before it becomes a complaint... express Gratitude, Thank You!! I guess she was absent during this training.

Rooms are okay, clean. Only one handicap parking spot taken by a construction truck...doubt handicap sticker was current! Didnt produce until asked! I hope I get to stay in a new room next time...4th time charm!

I had a very nice stay. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was having to walk all the way around to get to my room. Other than that the staff was wonderful and accommodating. And the pool was closed so that's a bummer but the Jacuzzi tub made up for that.

This motel is a delightful place to stay in a wonderful college town. It has a great location near downtown and the UGA campus. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. Wifi and TV function as they are supposed to. Breakfast is the best of any motel I stay at. Staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend this motel without any hesitation!

I enjoyed every day I spent at the hotel. Room service was always on time & always polite. Breakfast was a little cold but it's nothing a lil microwave can't fix! Will be coming almost every 3 months. Thank you!! 10/10 !!

Do not book a room here unless they are done with the addition they are building, or if you do not mind paying 200 per night for a musty average small room with a loud AC. If you do not mind being waked at 7:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning to the noise of construction zone-- this is the place for you!

I have been staying at this place for several years. Construction seemed to have stalled and I have never had an issue. Until Saturday. Our room was right by the construction. Work boots lined the sidewalk. The areas was in disarray, Let me have a clean quiet room to sleep in and all will be fine...or so I thought. My AC made a clicking noise that drove me crazy, but at least it was cold. The room smelled dank and musty and I sprayed it with perfume. When I got back from supper there was NO PLACE TO PARK!!! I had to complain to Brock and have him offer to let me park in front of the office and he walked me and my daughters back to the room. If he had not walked us, I would have I felt very uneasy walking it in the dark by myself. At 7 am on SUNDAY morning the construction started right outside our door. I had gotten to bed at 1:00 and on SUNDAY morning the racket started. Now IF I had been warned when I booked th room that the hammering and sawing and major construction would begin so early and IF I had gotten a huge discount my expectations would have been lowered. I paid top dollar (200) for this miserable experience. I would rather camp and I HATE camping!!! I could have stayed about 20 minutes away from UGA and gotten a good night's sleep. In the morning When I walked up front and spoke with Ernesto (?) he was super polite and nice but had zero power to do a thing to make a difference in my miserably experience. I recommend BEFORE you book a room, call them. ASK if construction is going on! IF so, DO NOT BOOK! It is not worth the misery! Unless you get up at 6:00 am and do not need to sleep...Wait to stay here until the construction is complete!!! If you do complain, the staff is polite and seems sincerely sorry for all your discomfort, but nothing is done and no solution provided. Not worth 200 per night!!!! Ha! Not even close!!!!

Nice hotel, great location in Athens, close access to the college, across the street from the Varsity restaurant. Staff are always friendly, professional and helpful. Hotel is currently under construction for additions. Breakfast is the somewhat typical BW breakfast, eggs, pancake maker, cereal, biscuits and sausage gravy.

Awesome staff, great value, close to Athens town. Stayed many times great. Some building work nearby but does not affect room noise. Beds creaky but comfortable. Breakfast usual free fare. Breakfast area clean and kept well stocked.

The property is undergoing construction of a large new addition and will be really nice when it is completed. This motel is very clean and in a great location. The breakfast is excellent and the staff is very helpful and friendly.

Nice and clean room, just under construction with loud activity early in the am. Was concerned about the non inclosed rooms due to security, but quiet over night. Breakfast was great with many different choices.

I arrived at 1am. I had booked a king 1st floor. I was set to be put in a king 2nd floor. The gentleman at the desk said there were no 1st floor rooms. I was booked in a double 1st floor instead. At this time, I was tired, so that was fine. Get to my room (115) and walked in. WHOA! The mildew stale smell slammed me in the face. Yet again, SOOO tired. Got into bed and the sheets/pillows/blankets just radiated mildew smell. Wonder if they ever air out the room or if there is a leak somewhere. The pillows were not what I was used to so I barely slept at all. I liked the firmness of the bed though. Also, there is construction going on so don't plan on sleeping in.

This is a fake listing. Please note the hotel renovation that is supposed to be completed in spring 2016 is far from done. You will get a dirty motel room that feels unsafe. This is a scam. Management knows it is a scam and claims the "fine print". The guy at the front desk said this happens all the time when I came back after a first look at my room and stated that I would not be staying in that place. Management never even had the decency to call us back after multiple attempts to reach them. Beware

Great location for my purposes; good breakfast selections; easy internet; and a most comfortable bed. What more could one ask for? This was a family visit and I was within 10 minutes of my daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. It is always good to find a very comfortable and convenient location in such juxtaposition to my ultimate destination.

Looking for a hotel just outside of the town. This is it. Very nice room and a comfortable bed. Had a great hot breakfast available. The office and the hotel complex is only 1 block away. Downtown is about a mile away. Rate is good.

Stopped for a few days on an anniversary vacation. Couldn't be happier with the experience. Staff went out of the way to make us feel at home. Clean rooms, helpful staff, and decent breakfast. Would recommend.

There were bugs in the room when I checked in and I reported this to the desk. They said they would take care of them, but they did not. Some plugs did not work. Hotel was farther from convention location than was stated

Front desk and they changed them. The lighting and room was dingy. The carpet was dirty. There was a lot of noise due to the construction. This was not mentioned on Booking .com. There was a lot of debris and dirt in the air.

My wife and enjoyed our usual pleasant stay at this university city location. I personally received extra help from the front desk and breakfast service staff in the way of transportation to my conference where parking is at a premium. They were instrumental in enabling me to obtain free shuttle service to and from my conference. GREAT STAY!!!! Thank you, BEST WESTERN!!!!!

Property is still under construction, still has some questionable residents. Rooms are clean, flat screen tvs, parking is limited. Staff is very friendly, made coffee available even with my 4 am departure.

i had a wonderful stay, i was pleased by he efficient manor in which the front desk operated at check in. The rooms are so clean and well kept. I had not trouble with the construction going on on an adjacent property. The new hotel will amazing im sure. I couldn't ask for more for the great price of just under a hundred on a Saturday ... very fair given the options .

$130 --and that was with my Best Western rewards $10 discount!!!! No designated place for pet to do their business. Parking was terrible as not enough spaces. BW is in the process of making an addition.

It's one thing when issues happen. It's another when the hotel staff just sort of shrugs about it, promises some sort of discount, then barely delivers. We stayed in this Best Western for three nights. For two of those nights, we had no hot water, and a staff who just didn't seem to care. First, it was written off as a problem with our shower (though we explained that the sink wasn't delivering hot water, either). When the attendant noticed this for himself (even though we had already told him), he just shrugged and said the maintenance crew was gone for the day. It turns out that several other travelers checked in late and reported the same, at which point it was taken seriously. But when the same problem happened again the next night, the attendant simply stopped answering the front desk phone. (I walked around to the front desk to see if he was there. He was. He simply ignored the phone). We were promised some discount on our stay to make up for the cold showers we had to take two days in a row. In the end, they only comped us our pet fee, which was trivial to begin with.

Front desk was courteous and very helpful. Quiet location just off the main UGA campus. Very reasonable price tag. I would stay there again for my next trip and look forward to the new hotel they are building.

This hotel is in the middle of a remodel. There is a new building going up which looks very nice but the old hotel is likely to be torn down. The outside looks horrible and is kinda sketchy looking but the rooms were clean and inexpensive. We needed a pet friendly hotel so decided to give it a try. I inspected the room before we committed and since it was clean we decided to stay. I would not want to stay here more then one night.

Nice hotel. Clean rooms good breakfast. In the middle of UGA near the greek houses. Once construction on new wing is done should be even better. The rooms were clean and staff helpful. Couldn't ask for better on a quick stay in Athens. Got the AARP discount which made the low price even better. Great value.

Nothing terrible about this place. The outside is a little scary (kinda dark & surrounded by construction & crews) and the room did have a bit of an odor to it when we first arrived, but once we turned the A/C on it went away. Probably wouldn't have stayed here alone because of the sketchy parking lot; however, the room was clean - clean sheets, clean bathroom, shower/sink/toilet - which is what really matters the most to me. I didn't see any staff other than the guy at the front who checked me in, but he was really friendly & helpful. Like I said, it is worth the price. If I had to return to Athens, I would probably stay here again.

Because it was graduation weekend, we had to book here. Rooms were so tiny we could barely get around room, not enough towels, no wash clothes, extremely strong air freshener in room, hotel under construction and workers started making noise early Saturday morning...and they they OVERCHARGED us which we didn't figure out until later as we did express check out and were not given a receipt. Not what we were told when we made reservations on the phone.

There were sooo many bugs in our room but the staff was really nice and the building is under construction so it may just be because of that. We didn't bother with complaining though because we didn't want to make a big fus over it

Rooms were clean, and comfortable, the construction on expansion made getting to the breakfast a little difficult, I had my 91 year old mother-in-law with us and going up Reese st with a walker in traffic was a accident waiting to happen.

Lets start with the good -- location, convenient to 'downtown' Athens, walking distance to restaurants and moderately priced by Athens standards. Clean room, and a fantastic breakfast - by far the best 'free' breakfast ever from a chain motel -- besides eggs and 'make your own pancakes', a yogurt bar with fresh fruit, granola and all manner of toppings. Plus biscuits, gravy, sausages, grated cheese and salsa for a make your own breakfast sandwich, toast, muffins, cereal and more. Can't think of anything they didn't have - even peanut butter and honey! Now, the noise - oy, the noise. There were road crews staying there and they were up at 4 am clattering up and down stairs to being their shifts. Not their fault of course, hard workers. But didn't make for a restful night/morning. Plus, the hotel is being expanded, so the workers for THAT project were up and outside our room bright and super early, with trucks idling just outside, backing up with the 'beep beep' sound and all that. Of course it's not always like that, but that was our experience, so folks should be adivsed (this was in February but I imagine the work is ongoing..). Might stay there again, might look for something else. All in all good value. That killer breakfast went a long way to making the rest bearable. Also the attendant in the breakfast area was so personable and friendly and kept it incredibly neat, clean and organized and replenished items well before they ran out. She definitely made this place shine and deserves a raise! This hotel in Athens, GA is located in a prime spot for visitors to the city. It is clean and the staff were very professional and nice. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family visiting Athens, GA. I will return.

I was able to bring my Dog, and the Hotel made us feel at home Neighborhood was charming and provided excellent for walks between my meetings. We will choose Best Western again.. when we hit the road in June. Thank you Gregory Coates Artist

This is a motel, not the hotel pictured as opening Spring 2016. The new addition looks nowhere near complete. The construction requires guests to check in, then drive down a hill and around to get to the parking lot. At night, the walk is dangerous because of holes in the roadway, etc. There is a 4" - 5" step up on the threshold for rooms on the second that is very hard to see at night. All three of us almost tripped at different times. Upon entering the room, I noticed the amenities tray by the sink had an open, used bar of soap and an open, half-empty bottle of shampoo. The shower had what looked like black mold in the corner. There was one washcloth for a 3-person reservation and the towels were very thin. The beds were full size and, honestly, I haven't seen full size beds in a long time. The spread on one bed had an unknown, brownish stain. The worst part, however, was the fact that when I called for availability, I was quoted a price of $62.00. A day later, the price had gone up to $110.00! I booked there because a group of friends was staying there, so I hoped it would be worth it. In my opinion, it was maybe worth the original quote.The continental breakfast was OK. The breakfast area was small, however, and I saw several people leave after seeing the area was full. I always check reviews on TripAdvisor and I really wondered why there seemed to be a disparity in ratings for this place. The best reviews seemed to be from long-time BW customers, so maybe this is the level of quality they've come to expect. I usually stay at Hampton, Hilton, or other similar properties, so maybe I expected more. My bottom line is the room here was probably more suitable for a $62.00 motel, not for $110.00, that, with taxes, was in excess of $130.00!

In a city that never sleeps because the college kids won't stop making a racket, this hotel is located in one of the least noisy parts of downtown. Lobby staff is always there and ready to help and will gladly tell you the best places to eat or best bars to go get wasted at. What's more is they have an automated pancake machine in the breakfast lounge, for those mornings when you're too hung over to realize you just poured batter all over your new dress khakis. And sure they may not have HBO or anything like those big fancy hotels but let's be real, you're probably just gonna get on Netflix and binge watch random shows until you pass out. Who needs cable, anyway? If unicorn fur could be used to make a mattress, pretty sure that's what they are using. Or Serta. Either way, it was comfy. 10/10 would recommend, maybe not to unicorn lovers though.

We stayed here for one night on the way to Florida and we're very pleased with the room upgrades as well as the price. The shower head height was even adjustable! The breakfast was good with hot and cold options. Would definitely stay again.

5 Star. The rooms were clean, smelled good to. The beds were fresh and cozy. There were some work being done on the place but nothing that got in our way. The only issue we did have was with the parking. Had to walk so far to get to and from the room. The staff was nice. I would consider staying there again if I am ever up that way. I am basing this review solely off customer service from the manager, Tripp. There was a booking mishap between hotels.com and Best Western. Tripp called me and attempted to rectify the situation. We went back and forth a few times but ultimately he upheld and compensated us for the mix up. We ultimately had to cancel our reservation due to a health emergency but we will book again directly with the hotel, based upon his personalize service and direct communication.

The room was between shabby and sordid ( a heavily stained armchair and chipped paint everywhere). The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. The staff were friendly. As you have to walk to the street and up the hill to have breakfast a shortcut from the motel to the front desk would be very helpful, especially in bad weather.

Part of the hotel is under construction. A new tower is being built where it appeared the pool and other amenities used to be. The rooms were about a block away from the office. We were greeted by an unfriendly person who asked us nothing. After putting all of our luggage into our room, we found that the toilet did not flush completely. We played with it but to no avail. As we were tired we hoped it would resolve itself in the morning. It did not and I ended going in the shower. I assumed that due to the construction, something was wrong with part of the pipes. The room was overpriced and I could have gotten a better deal at Motel 6 or my car. The checkout guy didn't ask how our stay was.

Nothing like spending $499 a night in a soon-to-be demolished filthy, outdated dump of a hotel room. Best Western should be ashamed of themselves. This may do it for me as far as the brand is concerned. I get that chains jack up the price for football weekends but this is just wrong. They have clearly just let this place go because it will no longer exist when the new hotel is finished. Which btw is what they show on their website.

Got a room at the last minute for UGA game. Knew it was a motel and was alright with that. Room had an odor, but not too bad. Obviously renovated recently which was nice. Walking around the property due to construction is not great, but understandable. There are nicer places in Athens, but the this was good for the price.

We recently stayed at the best western hotel in Athens, Georgia, on our way to Navarre, Florida. Hotel rooms were at a premium due to the hurricane in Florida. Our room was newly refurbished, clean and comfortable. The price was more than fair and the employees could not have been nicer. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast the next morning. We will stay here again and recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

We could not make it to our reservations at the Hotel this past weekend due to Hurricane Matthew. We had sudden plan changes as the Hurricane hit due to family, etc. We called recently because we were charged for 2 nights. When we called we were told "Well we have to make our money." Seriously? We get that but when you have an EMERGENCY come up, there comes exceptions. We will NEVER book here again.

The rooms smelled of mildew. Some type of fly was in all our rooms. Cable TV didn't work properly. Water leaking from toilet and bugs in it. Sketchy neighborhood. Don't recommend at all. Staff was very professional. Didn't try their breakfast but it is included.

Two weeks in advance my wife confirmed a reservation with Mr. Tripp the General Manager that She will be having surgery in Athens, Ga. We would need a king bed on the first floor.Because of her knee surgery she will not be able to walk up stairs. Well when my wife and I arrived at this unattractive hotel we did not get what was promise to us. First the young man at the front desk when we walked in to check in he did not greet us at all. He was on the phone speaking with someone else.He never acknowledge us at all. After five minutes on the phone he finally checked us in. Again never said hello, how was your day, how can I help you, nothing was said. Once we was checked in went to the room and discovered we was put on the second floor with two small beds. I requested to be moved the young man said there was no rooms available. Yes, I was very upset because we did not get what was promise to us two weeks in advance. It gets even worst. The young man at the front desk threaten to call the police on me because I told him this was not what we ask for. The Manager Mr. Tripp call my wife phone and say the the young man at the front desk said I spit in his face. Which, was a lie. I am a christian and family man who would not never do such a thing. Mr. Tripp need to apologize for the untruth he told on me. My wife and I will never stay at this property again. The entire staff including Mr. Tripp need to be retrained.

Recently visited Athens to see friends who attend the University of Georgia. Booked the hotel and the pictures looked very nice. Upon arrival, it did not look so similar. It is a motel which was not shown very well or advertised very well. If you are looking for a place to stay where you aren't afraid to walk outside your room at night, this is not the place. Much better hotels are within walking distance of the Best Western.

I found the affordable rate through trip advisor and booking.com, never actually contacting the hotel before I arrived.I will first talk about our stay and then about the issues we experienced. Parking was sufficient but somewhat tight. Very close to the downtown restaurants, which was a big plus. Room REEKED of smoke when we first walked in but we would acclimate to it very quickly. Front desk said no one has smoked in any of the rooms in 8 years....still smelled pretty bad every time we entered. Comfortable and quiet sleep on a big soft bed. Breakfast in the morning was nice, great coffee and pancakes. Big construction (for hotel) happening. Hopefully once it is finished, people won't have to walk around the block to the front office/breakfast. Now onto the issues I had: I chose this hotel over others due to an advertised jacuzzi room with king sized bed.When we arrived, we were in a regular room. I talked with the front desk and they pointed fingers at booking.com for false advertising ("they always book rooms that aren't available"); then booking.com said it was the hotels fault, and back and forth it went. They (booking.com and Best Western Athens) finally (a week later) offered me 40% off my next stay in Athens-which is great but I won't be back in the forseeable future-or a partial refund. Which I am still waiting on....

I checked in to my room and noticed two full size beds rather than the King size I booked. The front desk advised me this happens often when booking through Trip Advisor and that they could not give me a discounted rate. On top of that the AC stopped working as well as the wifi. I would not have paid over $100 for this had I known... Desk concierge and staff were very polite and helpful. Beds were comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at the BW. Staff were all helpful and pleasant. Building was well kept, but showed its wear in the bath tub and sink faucet. Clean comfortable room with lots of plugs for technology. Internet worked better than some other hotels. New building under construction made getting to the breakfast area difficult. Good location for getting around Athens.

This hotel provided a quality experience for us during our son's recent property moves within the Athens community. We were able to come in for showers, rest and even a little extra storage space during the transition days. This was also an accommodating experience as they were indeed a pet friendly option which appears to be a rarity in the Athens hotel community. Our sleep quality was also impaired due to the high volume of construction workers also in town for the move week; but to be expected so not worth reducing our score on this property

Yet again they did their job of making my stay feel like it's my second home I do stay here a lot and they have always made me welcome, keep up the good work, yes they are extending the hotel don't let it put you off from staying here "i'll be back"

My husband and I were traveling through coming home from FL and spent a rainy night here. It was quick, cost-efficient and close to the highway. The beds were acceptable. They did not offer much for breakfast- no fruit.

This place was fine for a quick overnight for my friend and I. Might not have felt comfortable there on my own if I had had to access the parking lot at night. It looks like the updates they are doing will be great and my friend enjoyed the breakfast. Hopefully they will be done updating by first of the year.

Be aware that this hotel is under construction and maybe due to that it brings in the shady people at night. The upside is the price was very reasonable and the room was nice and the staff kept it very clean. The only complaint I had is at night it gets questionable with the people around the hotel. The location is good and I believe that when the renovation is complete the hotel will be very nice. Once again the rooms were nice and clean and staff seemed friendly.

If non- smoking rooms that reek of cigarettes are your thing you'll love this fly infested palace of pain. And if you like to see garbage cans filled to overflowing and limes on the ground from unsavory tequila shooting guests, you'll be right at home. Perhaps broken TVs and hairdryers excite you. No? Then try to enjoy the infestation of tiny flies and bugs that make sure to hamper your sleep.

We booked the room through Trip Advisor but I guess Trip Advisor booked it through Booking.com (even though I clicked the trip advisor price; they were the same). Got to the hotel and clerk gave us the keys and wifi password. Went to room and there was laundry hanging up surrounding our room, presumably from other guest. Room did not seem clean. Went to clerk, he moved us to a room which happened to be exactly next to the construction office (they were using a room in the hotel as the office). We wanted a nice, quiet room, so we got a third room that was a little farther away, but we were still woken up very early by reverse-warning beeps from a truck or 5. By this time we are behind our planned schedule and getting hungry. I tried to get online to check our Fathers Day Dinner reservations but the internet was not working. 15 minutes or so later Clerk reset the router. Nothing changes. The clerk realizes that I am not having a good experience and offers us a $10 discount on the room or says that we can check out. We are tired and decide to take the $10 discount. We should have checked out and gone to the Days Inn down the street, because in the morning when I went to the clerk to check out, they told me that there was no way to give us a $10 discount because we booked our room through booking.com. For the rest of our trip we used trip advisor to help us find out hotels, but booked directly with the hotels even if it was $5 or $10 more. I am not satisfied with our stay at the hotel and recommend that if a hotel is undergoing that MAJOR of a renovation that the online description include this information.

The check in check out staff appeared to have difficulty handling travel cards. This really made me feel a little uncomfortable. Although the room was clean it appeared as if no one had vacuumed after last guest as there was 2 coins on the floor We had no internet service the entire stay. really a bummer on that. But we would probably give them a another chance by staying there if we are back in the area..

We stay often at this Hotel and once again all when well with our stay, The Internet was down but it was down in the whole area of the Hotel so there was not a lot the hotel could do. They are still building the Extension and we look forward staying there when the building is finished don't let this put you off from staying here.all the staff are great

This hotel was very well managed. The rooms and staff are awesome. The breakfast was good with a lot of hot items to choose from, not just continental. The only downside is the hotel is under construction. The front desk is a drive down the street from the rooms. There are a lot of construction workers loitering at night, which was a little uncomfortable. Be prepared to drive or walk the hill for breakfast.

It's been a while since I've stayed in a motel. This was just as expected. The good thing about motels is that they usually have everything you need: free wi-fi & parking, coffee maker, fridge and micro. The kingsize bed and bedding were all very adequate. While the location is very close to the 'stuff'...only about a half mile...Athens is pretty darn hilly...so I did end up wishing that we were at the Days Inn or Holiday Inn, which were just a few blocks closer. We paid on points, so I have no complaints for this 'free' night. Not sure how I would feel spending $85 for the same thing. Although, I don't know...it was quiet and had everything I needed, so what do I expect?

Stayed two nights, housekeeping did not clean the room during the second day. Came back to unserviced room. Offered to be moved to another room which was inconvenient due to our having to get ready to go out for evening. Alternate offer was q 10.00 discount for one night of stay. Not very satisfying. Staff friendly but doesn't seem to have authority to take care of problems. BIG problem with housekeeping. BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD. ROOM INITIAQLLY WAS CLEAN AND IT APPEARED STAY WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT BUT HOUSEKEEPING FAILED AND BALL DROPPED.

Pros: The hotel staff was cordial. The beds were soft. The shower had great pressure and temperature. For a one night stay, it is not bad. Cons: The current layout is several "motel" style buildings. The air conditioning did not cool well, and the room smelled old. The refrigerator was out dated and did not cool well. The breakfast was very limited in choices and space. I cannot wait for the new building to be completed sometime late in 2016.

I always look forward to staying at the Best Western when I am in Athens and it is nice to see a smiling face when I check in. I am looking forward to the new building being completed. The staff is always friendly. The bed is very comfortable.

Good clean Hotel we stay here often, there is building work going on but don't let that put you off staying here it's only to one side of the hotel we will be back soon and looking forward to the new extension

This property is in a great location with a very courteous staff. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The breakfast isn't bad either. I definitely recommend this hotel. It's right across the street from The Varsity. For those of you that are not familiar with the Varsity, google it!

The staff was super polite and accommodating, taking the time to answer my many questions about restaurants and the campus. The location cannot be beat! We were pleased to find a hotel that was both affordable and very comfortable -- a great home away from home for our bulldog weekend.

April 15, 2016 - The hotel is under a complete renovation which is very inconvenient. The construction blockage means there is a long walk from the rooms to the lobby for breakfast along a narrow street with no sidewalks and little lighting. Very frightening for my family. Rooms are OK, but one bed had blood stains on the pillow cases and hair in the sheets. The attendant quickly and cheerfully brought us a complete change of sheets.

This hotel's rooms are directly accessible to the outside with only a door between the two. I usually do not stay in places like this because I feel it is less secure among other reasons but had no issues during my stay. The picture on the site led me to believe it was an indoor hotel though so be warned. Also, there is no elevator so if stairs are a problem get a ground room. Room was clean and comfortable with microwave, fridge and ice machine (which was across the parking lot in another building from the room I stayed in). There is lots of construction because they are building another unit for the hotel. The parking lot is noisy which sometimes carries over into the room but does not last long. Plenty of cigarettes in the parking lot and stair area which permeates the air but I do not know if it is construction workers or guests. My non-smoking room was fine though. The rooms seem to have been renovated with fresh paint and caulking. There is a good breakfast located where you check in. They have a pancake machine that makes pancakes in about a minute (put your plate at the end and hit ok). The hotel is a right off the main road through Athens and plenty of restaurants along it.

I chose this hotel because it is pet friendly, and the location was perfect. Many choices for dining in walking distance. Our room was very clean and smelled amazing when we walked in. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional. We didn't eat breakfast there so I can't comment on that. We will definitely stay there again!

There is a new BW Plus tower under construction. The existing rooms are BW Minus. Very ordinary rooms. Breakfast barely acceptable. Only good thing is the bargain rate. OK for overnight if nothing else is available. Feels very sketchy when you check in and have to drive around the block to find your room

I have stayed here a number of times and every time as been great a good very clean Hotel they are building an extension but don't let that put you off from staying here we will be back there in a few weeks time Keep up the good work

We had to walk through a dangerous neighborhood just to eat breakfast every morning. They were out on their balcony's looking at us as we walked by and it was very uncomfortable. The phone in the room didn't work properly and there are no microwave ovens in the breakfast area to heat the food after getting cold quickly. I wouldn't recommend this hotel even after they are done with renovations.

Booked a 3 night stay with a school group. Rooms are not cleaned after first day. Specifically asked for a certain number of towels to be clean readily available. Not enough shower products available. Tried to call front desk 8 times no answer. Tried to call 1-800 customer service and they won't be available for 2 more hours. Basically NO ONE To answer a customer service or CONCERNED call. Unacceptable. Did I mention the trash is still left in the room from the day before;(

I was less than thrilled with the Best Western in Athens. It's a motel. The rooms were dated; there was a microwave from the 1970's in the room. I was sure to put the chain on the door. I've been all over the world, and this was the saddest place I've ever stayed. The staff at the front desk made up for the motel's shortcomings. They were super friendly and helpful in explaining where to park, etc. Maybe all the construction will unveil a nicer, more modern facility? Only stay here if you absolutely must.

Hotel is clean and convenient to UGA. The hair dryer did not work but the quickly brought me a replacement. The rooms seemed updated very clean and crisp. Access to the hotel is a little tricky. It is close to lots of restaurants.

Be prepared to be less than impressed when you pull up to the office. The parking lot and office are cracked, aged, and next to a construction zone. The construction zone is the new office. Then walk about a block down to your rooms. You cannot get into the parking lot from the main street, that gate is locked. The rooms were not bad, but not great.

We stayed there as a group for a gymnastics meet and were charged $165 plus tax. It was not a hotel that was on our list, but since those had all filled up we found this on our own.Good hot breakfast and close to UGA are the two positives. The room itself has been updated a bit, but the sink didn't drain, the rubber shower mat was moldy, fan on AC unit won't adjust to high, and the wallpaper in the bathroom is coming off. The breakfast room is tiny and a mess too. The price on all of the national websites dropped this location to $119 per night and lower so I asked for that rate and was not given any adjustment at all. For the price, a disapointment

We stayed here when my daughter was attending a music conference for high schoolers at the Classics Center. It was tough to find a room in town. We don't normally stay at Best Western but we wanted to stay near the university and this was very easy access to the Classics Center and UGA, so we booked it. Despite the construction, we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and updated décor of the room. The breakfast wasn't fancy but provided some hot and cold items that did the job. We would consider this hotel again.

All was okay. Rooms were nice and clean, there was an issue with my reservation (I booked two rooms over the phone, but only one was reserved upon arrival) but this was sorted with no issue and the man at the counter was very nice. Construction is currently going on at this hotel, they keep construction quiet at night, but some of the construction workers are noisy at night and some were hanging out outside. But it does seem the have definitely reduced the rates due to the construction. Other than that, the stay was nice, very close to the downtown area and close to many restaurants, we came for work but definitely had a little bit of time to enjoy ourselves.

Friendly, helpful staff. Pet friendly. Great internet. services. Facility is Outdated...BUT... a new hotel is being built and will open soon! Good location - convenient to everything. Would stay again.

A nice clean room. The area is residential and very quiet, and you can wander easily out of the parking lot into a residential area to walk your dog. The place was partially under construction, but it didn't inhibit the check in process or upset my stay. The majority of the place is normal, it just looked like they were building a new lobby. The college-age guy at the counter was nice and friendly.

The rooms are clean, but small. There really isn't a place to put your suitcase down to open it other than the bed. Parking is not good. This hotel is under construction so you have to go down a side street to get to the parking from the office. The parking is still in front of your room, but it's tight. The breakfast is minimal at best and you have to walk back up the side street to get to it. I think this will be a nice hotel when the new part is finished, but right now it's just OK. There isn't a fitness room either.

A clean, comfortable room with a friendly staff at a budget price. Close to downtown & The Classic Center. I was travelling solo and felt perfectly safe. Having the Varisty acrossacross the dtreet was a plus

I got one of the last rooms in Athens when I booked about two weeks ago. I understand there was a sorority mother-daughter function. The hotel is old style, with outside balconies. I checked in about 9 pm. The clerk, who was nice, took a while to assign me. He put me upstairs on a corner, which he thought would be comfortable for a solo woman traveler. As many have mentioned, this property is under construction as they build a more modern facility. It's a maze to find your way to the rooms in the back. When I got there, it was clean and well-equipped. There was a jacuzzi in the main sleeping area, which was shall we say unique. The bed was comfortable, and it was quiet, despite the location off busy streets. I'm glad they are modernizing. I'll try them again when they are finished.

Worst place to stay if you are handicapped. No help getting to hotel from hospital, and night clerk gave attitude about checking out. Had to call someone from out of town for help getting a ride to hotel to check out.

I was happy with the service of the hotel, but the jacuzzi needs to be cleaned. I am a loyal Best Western Rewards member. I enjoy staying at Best Westerns in several state, Florida, Geaorgia, Alabama, etc. However, the dirty jacuzzi has turned me off at this time. Maybe my next experience will be better.

It was a good location for us with a dog . . . not easy to find a place to walk a dog. It is under construction and you must drive up to office for breakfast. So, if you like to walk it's a good place to stay. Looking forward to the new look and remodeled rooms (?).

There was a lot of construction a the time of our visit, requiring us to walk a block with limited sidewalks to access the office/breakfast areas. The room we had contained 2 double beds, but was very small, very cramped. The internet was a problem the entire time (no pages loaded...worse than dial-up). Since I needed it to complete business, this was very frustrating. I had to go to a coffee shop in town to complete business. The staff was very friendly and rooms were clean. It would have been perfect if I only needed a place to sleep and had not planned to use the other amenities.

The BN Athens (N. Milledge Ave), upon check-in photocopied my driver's license and credit card to file away for 5 years for "audit" purposes. No other hotel has ever done this. I would not recommend staying at this hotel because of that.

Our room looked very new and that was a plus, along with the front desk staff. That was about the only plus here. When we arrived check in was fine but when we pulled around to our room we were instantly "reviewed" by some of the other guests who were hanging out in the parking lot. Our key did not work so I drove back up to the front office. The front desk clerk redid the keys and came down to assist with the door. He pet the dogs and apologized for the inconvenience. From there it got interesting. Our neighbor brought in 4 large coolers into his room, our other neighbor had a visit from the police and the rest of the evening consisted of people hanging out in front of their rooms drinking beer along with many cars rolling in and out. When I walked the dogs I watched the same man walk from the low income housing apartments (that were behind the main hotel building) to the main front office parking lot of the Best Western......about 20 times. I was glad we had our dogs. Below average based on the other guests that seemed pretty permanent and the area that the hotel is in. I think the new tower (that looks amazing) will really help this place but until it's done, keep on looking for a place to stay.

Really felt like attention was lavished on me during my stay here. The receptionists were fabulous in letting us know where we should be costing and when. Really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely book again. Thank you again for all your help and see you next time!

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel last year while in town for a school event and was very pleased with our stay. So for this years event we knew with out a doubt we would stay here again. We will be back next year too.

needs to be updated and needs better towels. Staff is very efficient and professional. In a very good location. Out of town but close enough and on a main road close to restaurants and shopping by car. Construction is in process and parking is tight with only one way out and dark road up hill if you want to walk from parking lot to front lobby. Looks scary at night. They needs better access to front lobby and breakfast during construction. bathroom is small and desperately needs updating. Needs real bath towel not skimpy half towels

We have at this Hotel before and it was like we had not been away they are now extending the Hotel but the building work did not bother us and we will be back there next year, Room was clean and the internet was good to.

The Best Western Athens is a comfortable place to stay. They were in the middle of a building project around so it was difficult, at times, to drive around the property. The room was comfortable, but a bit worn, and the breakfast was average.

The Varsity Restaurant is right across the street. Best chili cheese hotdogs in town. Construction of the new building is going on. They said they will have a work out room in the new building I think this will be a good addition.

Parking because of construction was a little tough - but the staff and the breakfast made up for that. They have a laundry and that was a big plus. Room was clean and pleasant. We used a gift card given to us for multiple stays and got our Harley Discount = WIN/WIN

I recently stayed at this hotel and a day later I woke up with bites all over my arms, hands and some on my legs. I thought I checked the room before I slept there but apparently not good enough. So beware if you decide to stay there. I should have stayed elsewhere that's all I can say....hindsight is 20/20

I was unaware the hotel was kind of motel style- I'm not sure if that was listed anywhere and I just missed it. The breakfast was the average egg patty, sausage, biscuit, gravy. I had booked multiple rooms and they allowed me to use one AAA card for a discount, unlike the Holiday Inn down the road. It's a $4 uber ride to downtown.

came to visit sister in hospital. Route going to and from hospital and hotel was easy and quick. Room was very clean with no odors. Fortunately,all rooms nonsmoking. Property not that great looking right now, but they are in midst of some new construction and I think they will renovate existing buildings to match the new.

Second time I have stayed at this Best Western. It is very close to the office I will be working out of. I know that they are very happy that the weather has subsided so the work on the new building can get started. Enjoyed the Sauce House BBQ restaurant that was suggested and was with in walking distance.

We first went to Comfort Inn in Athens due to TA reviews and found it is no longer. So we ended up at BW. Got a great rate. Room was OK - clean, mostly comfortable. Very noisy. We have a fan that we run when we sleep and we still heard stuff over the fan. There are only two stories, but it sounded like something was above us, beside us, right outside the door, etc. When they get their new tower built I am sure it will be a nice property. Young woman at the front desk explained that there is a new tax on all hotel rooms, but couldn't explain what it's for. It seems to me, she should be able to tell guest what they are paying for.

Signed up and prepaid for a 2 night stay, but was so disappointed in the motel that we told the front desk clerk that we did not want to stay a second night because the room was musty, smelled bad and there were ants in the bathroom. There was loud noise in the parking lot all night long. The desk clerk promised that we would be credited back for the second night's stay, but that never happened. I called several times and left messages, but no one ever called me back to discuss. Orbitz, through whom I booked, refused to assist.

I travel to Athens at least 2 or 3 times a month on business and have been staying at the Best Western Athens for several years. Hands down this is the best deal in Athens for a clean and comfortable affordable nights sleep. The employees are always pleasant and make me feel welcome. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who travels to Athens.

Hands down worst Best Western property I've experienced. I got in late and left early (thank goodness), but the overwhelming odor of some kind of air freshener kept me awake, so I had plenty of time to take in the dinginess of the room. My bill of nearly $200 felt like a violation.

Comfy rooms, cable TV, updated services with USB Ports at the beds, WiFi never worked but we walked to a local restaurant since this is located pretty much right down town Tight parking, but fenced in and secure Pet friendly which is why we stayed here

Our daughter is a Junior at University of Georgia and the Best Western is located just down the street from her sorority house. She was able to walk and eat breakfast with us both mornings. The Varsity is across the street. Nice to be so close to my favorite hotdog place.

I was very happy with the Best Western in Athens Ga! They are under construction and the breakfast and lobby are just next door. I stayed two nights and received wonderful service. I travel with a small dog and I left the no service sign on the door. When I returned housekeeping had left extra towels hanging on my door! At breakfast on my second day I over heard an older couple at the front desk that was very confused with directions and the desk staff took time getting them out of town step by step.

The limited amenities seem hardly worth the price charged during a gameday weekend, but is par for the course for the area. The rooms are snug, but the beds are comfortable and the property is fairly conveniently located to downtown and the college campus. Construction of a significant addition to the property is currently ongoing. That makes for a slight inconvenience (e.g., cuts out a few parking spaces), but the addition should greatly enhance the amenities offered by this property.

Overpriced for mediocre motel.They seem to be undergoing some renovations, but it's a no-frills motel, by no means a hotel, and guests are paying renovated pricing on older motel rooms. Rooms smell of over-bearing fragrance products used to mask foul odor. Average to below acceptable level of cleanliness. Beds are not comfortable.

The location was convenient to where I was visiting and I had BW points to use for my stay. However, it is under construction and you must drive to get their breakfast and there is no place to walk a dog.

Staff was friendly, room was average or slightly above. The construction was an issue, they didn.t have an access point from hotel to office, so each morning to get breakfast, you have to walk to the street half a block up the street then left to the office. not an easy walk when trying to take something back to the room for your spouse, New hotel to b completed 3/16 looks beautiful.

This is an older hotel that is undergoing renovations to bring it in line with current guest expectations an decor trends. A lot has already been done to the existing rooms, although they are waiting for granite counters to be installed in the bathrooms. Also, they are building a new tower of rooms onto the hotel.The room was clean, nicely appointed and had a comfortable bed. The staff was also friendly and helpful.

Stayed one night for a conference at UGA was very convenient to the campus. Staff was helpful. They are under construction but this did not bother me. I am looking forward to staying in the new building. They have a pancake machine for breakfast and they are good!

Room was ready when I checked in, nonsmoking with 2 queen beds as I reserved. Staff very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast very good. Did find several packages of condoms in the desk drawer(fortunately, they were unopened). Glad I found them before my 11 and 9 year old did.

I have stayed at this Best Western a few times. I always get a great nights sleep. Don't know why some hotels think they can buy cheap beds that are hard as a board. This hotel understands good beds equals good stay. I'm looking forward to the new building.
