"Pleasant place to stay"

3
07/11/2018

Excellent location for Southampton Port, unfortunately the boiler wasn't working when we arrived but, was soon rectified. Nice enough hotel, not very busy when we went there, pleasant enough staff and ample parking, within downhill walking distance to Andover itself but, anyone not willing to walk up the steep return, taxi's are readily available and cheap enough.

"Winners weekend to enjoy"

04/11/2018

I was lucky enough to submit a photograph that won us a weekend away with Best Western and this was the hotel they booked us in to. The welcome was very good, and receptionist gave us s choice of rooms which was lovely. Rooms were clean tidy and well equipped, tea and coffee freely available with replacements if you just asked. Plenty of hanging space and drawers. WiFi in room excellent quality, but you have to re-register after 24 hours. Food quality in dining room was excellent, compliments to the chef who cooked steaks exactly to our requirements, and the freshly made satay sauce was delicious, but just a shame that this was served on cold plates. The ambience was lacking though, possibly not helped by the face there was only our table and one other , but just a little music in the evening in the dining room would have made a difference. Also cooked breakfast, great choice plentiful, sausage quality was good , but limited fresh fruit choice. Overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend, although if we stayed here again it would probably only be on a b&b basis.

"Comfortable and quiet "

29/10/2018

Arrived here with our friends for a two night stay dinner/bed and breakfast and received a warm welcome. Lovely clean and quiet rooms in the main building with good amenities and spacious. Breakfast offered all you could want to set you up for the day and the waiting staff cannot do enough for you. The dinner menu was confusing and with only the breakfast room or bar to eat it in the atmosphere was soulless and uninspiring. However the food was excellent but needed to be served on hot plates rather than cold ones as we experienced. All in all a good hotel but should we ever return the next time would only go B & B unless the evening amenities and menu changed.

"Good hotel that is reasonably priced."

28/10/2018

Stayed here for two nights. Rooms were clean and tidy and included tea/coffee making facilities and an ironing board etc. There was a decent selection for items for breakfast, ranging from a full cooked breakfast to croissants. The staff were also very helpful and very friendly. Andover town centre is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. While the walls are a little thin between the rooms, it didn't bother me at all. All in all a good hotel that is reasonably priced.

"Clean and adequate"

13/10/2018

Our room was clean but our bed was a little uncomfortable. We had used the best western group before and previous bed was lovely. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok but eggs were rubbery and grapes appeared past there sell by date, Shrivelled and brown looking. We had a lovely evening meal cooked by the Italian chef which was lovely. Chicken succulent and moist. Bar staff lovely. On the whole our over night stay was good and would return.

"Initially disappointed...but did redeem"

09/10/2018

I chose this hotel with a days notice, for my very deaf 91 year old Mum and I as it promised to be 'leafy', had a restaurant, seems well reviewed, was close enuf to the local hospice (1.75 miles) where very sadly my sister was, had enuf rooms for us to possibly extend our stay if need be, and could offer us two rooms next to each other. I wanted somewhere as comfortable as the Potters Heron in Ampfield where we would stay when my sister was less ill. The restaurant was not open when we wanted our first evening meal. The next day it was but cold, as the radiator did not work...so everyone was in the bar area with the TV on (not good for my deaf Mum)....the restaurant radiator was repaired on the Monday of our visit. However it's not the comfiest of places to dine...there was a bin on view complete with a black dustbin bag liner, on that first night in the restaurant there was radio music playing modern music rather loudly (what about a little jazz or something more suitable for an evening in a restaurant?), the dining room lacked atmosphere. I was promised upstairs rooms overlooking the garden and got rooms (nos 202 and 203) overlooking a local lane (which in the end was a blessing in disguise as the rooms overlooking the garden also overlooked the carpark which we were trying to avoid). I was told there would be a cafetière in our rooms and there was not...I being told they had been stolen (why weren't' they replaced). I was told our rooms and bed would be very big...they were not (the bed is 5' wide). My Mum had too little space to put her things in the bathroom....I had a shelf under the mirror which she did not; there was paint on the inside of the glass of my bathroom window...(why didn't the painter clean it off?); my TV remote was a replacement so I was unable to get the sub titles on (however unlike the Potters Heron Hotel we could get talking pictures which was a bonus for us); I had to ask for the remote for the air conditioning and when I got it from reception it only blew out cold air as the hotel had not turned on the heating...equally I had to ask for the radiators to be turned on and when they were, only one of the two in my room worked....and still the towel rail in the bathroom was off....the latter duly rectified on the Monday. There was no non slip mat in the bathroom, my mum realising when she was having a bath (apparently they get stolen so there is a note, not seen by my mum, saying you have to ask for them at reception); my mums bathroom lock fell off as soon as she arrived with no one to repair it until the week end was over....I later realised mine was not there so there was a hole where it used to be. The lock cards for our room annoyingly got un programmed on a daily basis...apparently they need to be kept a good distance from your mobile. I had a copy for Mums room for emergencies, but this too did not work on a daily basis. When I went down to reception at 2.50 am to get my spare reprogrammed there was no one there...I dinged the bell..no response. Five mins later I was there again to check we could leave the locked up building...still no one at reception...ended up phoning them. Someone then emerged so Mum and I could exit for the Hospice. I also think the bedroom doors are a fire risk...they don't close of their own volition....so I spent many a night there with what was effectively an open door, as did at least one of my friends that stayed in another room....I think 204. However there was an iron in the room, an ironing board and a hair dryer...these had not been stolen...and neither had the kettle. There were also two framed black and white photo's hanging on the wall which I found tasteful. We could get a signal on our mobiles. The staff were lovely, the rooms pleasant enough altho not my idea of the large deluxe double (otherwise called an executive room) rooms we were promised....I did see an example of such a room on the ground floor, complete with cafetieres and size...but pillars which some may not like...(maybe hard to avoid when sleepily on the way to the bathroom). The food was well cooked, the home made soups good, with a menu that pleased my mums more traditional tastes...I was impressed by their efforts to accommodate my vegetarian/vegan leanings ..eg making a ploughman's starter with a decent salad without the rocket leaves I don't like adding the grapes I asked for; a very good vegetarian bangers and mash with fried onions and Yorkshire pudding; a pasta dish nearly as good as my mums..the strawberry icecream tasted very artificial, and it would have been nice to have a salted caramel to choose too, rather than the standard strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. They had combined the menue from the bar and restaurant ..(an example of this is attached), the breakfasts were good. The parking was good too. The bed comfy. I did miss the cafetière tho for my brewed coffee first thing in the morning. This place strikes me as somewhere that the owner does not want to spend money on...(I think the Premier Inn would probably be better managed, with a more comfortable restaurant, but who wants to look out on dustbins)? I did not get what I was told I would get (a big room, overlooking garden, with a cafetière etc). Its a budget hotel...so maybe I expect too much..but describing a room I did not get is surely worthy of a reduction which I did ask for but did not get...on top of this both my Mum and I spent 16 days each in our respective rooms, and brought more custom to the hotel in the shape of two friends who took a room for three days in total? Andover seems pretty short of leafy many roomed hotel options a short drive away from the hospice. We did extend our stay three times and they did fall over backwards to accommodate us...and keeping us in the same room. That I am very grateful for. Over the time I grew fond of the place....warts and all.

"Brilliant value for money! "

Currently staying as away with work, can't complain one bit brilliant value for money. May not be the ritz but it makes up for it in many ways! Lily (sorry if name is wrong head receptionst) is brilliant remembered our face from few weeks previous and brilliant service from behind the bar from Nicola and Sharon! Can't complain one bit, clean rooms friendly staff and not over priced! Definitely recommend

"bw andover hotel"

30/09/2018

Stayed her e before a number of times and acceptable on all levels! Had a double room this time which was clean and air conditioned. A little cramped not much room for a chair, Hot and stuffy in the bathroom, but there was no bathroom window to open and cool it down .. The receptionist was friendly as were the girls at breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet and was all fresh and good qulaity. Whilst the bedroom is fine, the small public areas such as the restaurant, outdoor seating area and bar aren't so inviting or good.It does the job however and I would go back. !

"Inexpensive hotel, thin walls, good breakfast"

3
23/09/2018

We needed a room for one night where we would be arriving late. This hotel had a great price and free cancellation and parking .. and a full breakfast. Reviews warned of the dated rooms and thin walls and they were right. However, it fit our needs, the room was clean. friendly staff, and probably gave us the best value to price for the entire trip ... but definitely the lowest quality hotel we stayed in and wouldn't want to stay for multiple nights.

"An unfortunate situation, handled awfully."

2
16/09/2018

Although I believe you should only expect what you pay for, you still have the right to be compensated when your stay has not filled your basic expectations. Our basic expectations for this stay was a bed for the night and a shower in the morning. Unfortunately for the hotel, their boiler broke overnight, which meant we couldn't shower in the morning. We were not notified of this before attempting to shower, which would have been useful (a note under the door or an email to wake up to perhaps). Also worth noting, when we called down, we were not given an alternative option, even though someone at the front desk later that morning was given one. We of course bought up the lack of a hot shower when we checked out, but the response that we were met with was effectively 'tough luck, not our fault'. When we suggested (partial) compensation, we were told that it wasn't possible because we didn't book directly with them. What made this worse was that the final stance from the two people on the desk was 'we could help you if you'd have booked with us instead'. Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh? When we complained through the booking company, they told us that when they contacted the hotel directly themselves, they refused a partial refund. Luckily the booking company were able to compensate us, but this wasn't their responsibility. A broken boiler is an unfortunate situation for any hotel to deal with, but you HAVE to deal with it. You can't just shrug it off. Own it, and realise you have a responsibility to your paying guests, regardless of who they've booked their room through.

"Fantastic find, excellent value for money"

Stayed for one night. Easy check in with receptionist Liz. Lovely big room and well equipped. Nice touch of bottled water. Very clean throughout. Hotel in a quiet location but within close proximity of the town centre, less than 10mins walk away. Breakfast was really good. Lots of choice, food well presented and tasty. Would recommend and we will stay again

"Good fr visiting historic houses"

02/09/2018

Wanted a hotel which gave us good value for money and we could visit some interesting properties in the area, and a new one we visited was Houghton Lodge near Stockbridge. Very charming and will visit there again.

"Clean & Friendly "

4
01/09/2018

A second stay here, so can't be all bad ! Had a double room this time which was clean and air conditioned. A little cramped as a chair blocked the door to the bathroom, but there was no where else it could go. The receptionist was friendly as were the girls at breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet and was all fresh and good. Whilst the bedroom is fine, the small public areas such as the restaurant, outdoor seating area and bar aren't so good. It does the job however !

"Fawlty Towers"

2
31/08/2018

I didn't believe that Fawlty Towers really existed until I stayed here. From the argumentative lady on reception, to the bar which looked as if the decor from the 70s, complete with uncomfortable upright chairs. Added to that, the restaurant menu was ‘off' and so we were left with an unexciting but expensive bar menu.

"One night stop over on business"

4
30/08/2018

Stayed one night and overall the experience was good. Friendly staff and rooms were nice and big and clean. Dinner service was slow but not sure of reason why as hotel was not that busy. Food was good. Good breakfast choice. Plenty of parking outside the hotel. WiFi free.

"Nice quiet hotel"

27/08/2018

I booked hotel via hotels.com as they offered a discount, I had booked the hotel as it was near a festival I had planned to visit. Upon arrival the booking in process was very easy and I was directed to my room. It was a nice size room, clean and bright with kettle coffe and tea available, as was as a nice size tv. I went into Andover town for the first evening, and returned in time to get a drink from the bar, whilst there I asked if the booking came with breakfast and was informed that the booking didn't, at this time I was surprised I wasn't offered to pay extra for breakfast sadly. The day of the festival sadly the rain came so the visit was cut short so I returned to the hotel to dry out and change into dry clothing. I returned to the main hotel to watch tv and purchase some food as on every table was bar snack menu, I went to order food around 15:00hrs and was told no food was available until 18:30hrs, so sadly I had to leave the hotel and venture into Andive to purchase food. All in all the hotel was nice. Clean, quiet and I was very happy with the place, only down side poor communication and little information regarding when the food would be available. If I went again I will check direct with the hotel that breakfast is included.

"Night before CarFest"

3
27/08/2018

Perfect for the night before Carfest.....only a 20 minute drive to the site. Be warned that if you arrive early, there is no lunch served. We had a room in the main part of the hotel which was clean and adequately equipped with air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities and large flat screen tv. Ensuite bathroom - bath with shower over BUT with a shower curtain not a glass screen! Net curtains don't meet in the middle but outer curtains are ok. Evening meal was taken in the bar area which is more like like a cheap cafe but the food was good and plentiful. There was an al le carte menu for the restaurant where breakfast was also served. Nice buffet cooked breakfast with fruits and cereals etc. Check in and out was speedy.

"What cost customer welbeing"

20/08/2018

We have stayed in many Best Western Hotels over the years and this one is on a par with any others with good rooms and restaurant, it is the lack of safety provided for guests that I found so alarming. We inspected the room and found that the shower was fixed arm over a steel bath with curtain, What we found missing was no non slip surface in the bath or a mat, also no grab rails to hold and no grab pulls on the bath. We asked for a bath mat at about 17:00, then again at about 20:00, the lady on reception was now going to ring the manager to advise were to find one. Come 22:00 the manager had still not responded so why employee him? As a result I began to look at the room, the entrance fire door to our room had a gap you could limbo dance under, the window did not have an escape sash and as for the narrow treads on the access stairs to our room they did not comply with Building Regulations (21"-24"). The group fire officer and safety officer need to get to site ASAP and re-evaluate the property.

"Poor hotel only redeemed by the staff"

3
19/08/2018

Have stayed at many Best Western Hotels and they are generally of a very high standard. This is not. It holds itself out as a 3 star establishment and charges accordingly but from our experience 2 star would be more like it. It is not all bad. The staff are brilliant - professional, helpful and friendly - they even managed to spot we had left something in our room and return it to us be fore we drove off. The breakfast was OK. However the quality of furnishings in the public rooms is poor more 2 star than 3 star. Our room, which should have been a double, was obviously a single with a double bed squeezed in. This meant it was right up against the wall on one side which is unacceptable. The room was spartan to say the least and although the room was clean the carpet was badly stained so it looked unpleasantly filthy. Have the management not heard of carpet cleaner? Overall a poor experience - had the staff not been so outstanding I would have rated it only 2 or maybe 1.

"Nice hotel"

4
19/08/2018

Stayed for 1 night en-route to the west. Room very nice albeit noisey during the night due to contractors going to work early. Lovely breakfast with ample choices and buffet full English. Pleasant staff and nice grounds would definitely return if in area.

"Good value hotel"

4
11/08/2018

Stayed for a night, the staff were cheerful and helpful. The evening meal was good and not overly expensive. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of options. My room was clean and tidy, though I will agree with another review that the insulation was poor but fortunately there were no overly noisy guests. I would defiantly stay there again in the future.

"Pleasant Hotel"

26/07/2018

Stayed here last week for 1 night.Good location and plenty of parking. Reasonably priced rooms, so not overly expensive. Check in was quick and efficient, Wifi good Food in the evening was ok, limited menu and nothing to write home about. Breakfast was much better and plentiful. Staff were all ver pleasant especuially in bar/restaurant. Would i stay here again? - Yes

"Out the way - but well worth it !!!!!!!!"

5
25/07/2018

This was our first stay in a Best Western hotel, and it will not be our last !!!!! The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was very clean with all the usual mod cons, the air con was worth the money on its own !!!!!. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice. Definitely recommended !!!!

"Basic, but not expensive. Poor sound insulation."

3
24/07/2018

It is a basic hotel which, in all honesty, would benefit from a makeover. Our room was ‘tired' and the sound insulation was very poor. We were woken by a ‘neighbour' coughing and flushing loos and dodgy plumbing provided a background to our slumbers. The room was clean, staff cheerful and it's cheap. Not a great hotel experience but if you need to be close to Andover and you need just one night it is ok - if you are a sound sleeper.

"Lack of effort"

3
22/07/2018

Staying at a Best Western is always a hit or miss venture. Their portfolio of hotels are a real mixed bag. Some are beautiful converted historic buildings full of charm and character and others are as bland and soulless as a Premier Inn. Unfortunately this particular one falls into the latter category. Room is basic but serves its purpose, evening menu consists of a handful of generally unhealthy bar food options, but it is breakfast that really drives the nail in its coffin. Acidic orange juice made totally from concentrate. Buffet breakfast which you would struggle to get below a 1000 calorie count. Fried eggs in a soup of grease. I ordered the scrambled eggs which came in a gravy of what looked like custard. Not a satisfying experience though staff are friendly enough, hence the 3 star rating as opposed to a 2.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments and feedback regarding your stay with us here at the Best Western. It is always disappointing to read negative comments about our business when we work so hard to try and exceed people's expectations when staying with us. Your comment about the poor bar menu worried me with the unhealthy thought you had, now yes admittedly we have burgers and hot dogs on the menu but also on our menu which has 42 main meals all freshly prepared we have the likes of smoked salmon salad with new potatoes, a warm smoked mackerel salad many pasta options and other grilled or poached dishes on a comprehensive bar menu. Put that together with our restaurant menu that offers a grill section and a fish section all cooked fresh to order I was disappointed to note that you felt the handful of generally unhealthy food options was all that was on offer. Whilst we accept our breakfast is in fact buffet style we do also offer an alternative breakfast on our continental table with fresh fruit salad, granola, yoghurts, cheese and fresh baked croissants and a large fresh fruit display. Also with our breakfast offering is the option to have freshly cooked scrambled eggs, poached eggs, kippers and eggs benedict. The scrambled egg you ordered is cooked fresh to order using butter, cream, eggs and a pinch of black pepper prepared in a fresh pan from scratch a traditional style of preparing the dish. The orange juice again while not a concentrate will not always be to everyone's liking and we accept this from time to time you can't please everybody all of the time. I was pleased to note that our staff did all they can and were friendly to ensure your stay was acceptable. In closing I am sorry we did not exceed your expectation's and I will take your comments on board with the team and we will continue to learn from our customer feedback Thank you again

"Room Allocation Nightmare"

3
22/07/2018

One major negative on checking in put a strain on a family trip. Having chosen the hotel because we could get a disabled access Room, I was horrified to discover that the room allocated to my mum was down 3 steps in a narrow little passageway. The reception staff were unwilling to move anything around so myself and my husband had to squeeze into this very small double. While my mum had the room originally for us. She was however unable to take a shower all weekend as it was I shower o er the bath scenario. The two staff really did not care and add to this key cards that had to be reset for both rooms a couple of times each, it wasn't the best start after a four hour drive. In fairness all other staff we encountered were delightful, the food reasonably priced and plentiful. A good selection at breakfast also. If our initial encounter had been handled better the rati g would have been better

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, My apologies for the room issue, we shall investigate what went wrong and try to learn and train the relevant staff members so this does not happen again. Once again ours apologies for the incident, we do hope that next time that you are in the area, you could give us a second chance so that we can prove that we are able to improve

"Best Western stay"

4
20/07/2018

I've not stayed in this hotel for some time, the last time I did it was not a Best Western. The staff were very helpful and professional. The room was clean and tidy and everything worked as it should, the biscuits are a nice touch. A couple of minor points concerning the bathroom: why is the soap dispenser in the bath right under the shower? The soap dispenser on the basin didn't work properly and required fixing. The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and tea or coffee brought to your table (unlike a certain other hotel chain). I didn't use the restaurant but walked in to the town for my evening meal.

"Very Good!"

4
17/07/2018

It's a small hotel by modern day standards, but the staff were friendly, service was excellent and we were made to feel wellcome at every opportunity. The staff went above and beyond to assist. My room was small, a little bit tired in it's appearance, but it was immaculately cleaned. Breakfast was well worth the money and excellent quality. One could do a lot worse than book a visit to this hotel. Larger chains should take note from this hotel on how to please the customer. Well worthy of the 4 stars given.

"Pleasant, quiet stay......"

16/07/2018

Pleasant and quiet Hotel, tucked away just outside the Town Centre, pleased with wide-screen TV, everything else ticked the box, comfortable bed, good shower, quiet at night, food very good, I particularly liked the excellent bread, help yourself buffet at breakfast, lovely sausages and bacon, staff attentive, friendly, and courteous, no complaints whatsoever, excellent remote-controlled air-conditioning unit in rooms, but I turned it off overnight and just had windows open (July heatwave !), two car parks, the rear one is very large, would I stay again ?........most definitely!

Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind review, much appreciated, I shall pass around to all the staff members.

"Bad management of staff for a Best Western"

2
15/07/2018

First the positive— the rooms are well appointed , comfortable and well priced. The receptionist on arrival seemed ill trained and was very amateurish in her handling of our arrival. The outside terrace had tables stacked, overflowing cigarette stub box, unswept ground. We had a drink during the evening outside and the next day the dirty glasses were still on the table. The bar staff seemed ill trained also. Breakfast in the restaurant was fairly standard but was included in the room price. The lady in charge of the restaurant wore a disgustingly dirty and torn jacket. This was not a good look. She seemed more intent on chatting than actually supervising. Room wifi was hit and miss. Hotel was passable but staff, of which there were plenty, seemed to have had no training. Management certainly needs to train staff befitting a three star hotel of a well known hotel chain.

"Reasonable "

15/07/2018

A very clean, friendly stay. A very relaxed atmosphere - slightly disappointing that due to a wedding there was no restaurant facility and we were not made aware of this but we took a 30 minute walk into town and had a nice meal so wasn't too bad - staff were all polite and engaging and the air con was fantastic

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review, ours apologies for the restaurant, something that you should have been informed in advance no doubt and we do take note for the future. Hopefully next time that you are in the area we can improve on this.

"Great Value"

10/07/2018

What a welcome relief to find a large chain hotel that have staff who cannot do enough for you. We were attending Thruxton race circuit for the weekend and found that when we booked in that breakfast on Sunday was at 08.00, we asked if it was possible to have breakfast at 07.00 as we needed to be at the venue for 08.00 to guarantee a good view and were unexpectedly told that the chef would come in early and prepare it for us. The evening meal was second to none and fantastic value for money, the chef was overwhelmed with orders as it was not expected to be busy that Saturday evening and did an awesome job of getting everyone's meals correct and out at the same time even though she was on her own in the kitchen. As for the room with it's brand new tv and air conditioning this was very clean and had plenty of room to move around. The shower was brilliant as with a lot of other hotels the pressure of the water can leave a lot to be desired but not here it was powerful. I cannot recommend this hotel enough from the friendly and helpful staff to the well laid out and comfortable rooms I will most definitely be booking it again the next time I am down that way. Keep up the good work.

"great clean hotel"

23/06/2018

Stayed here for a two night stay. Room was fine. Clean and nothing to complain about. Breakfast was great. A little disappointed that the bar closed without telling us, even though we were the only people in the bar. Chef was the star. Reception staff were dressed a little casually, tracky bottoms to be receptionist and bar staff But all in all would stay again

"Reasonable Room - commercial guests unwelcome..."

2
21/06/2018

No frills hotel, generally clean with good facilities. The room was in need of a little detailing to keep up the appearance - rusty shower curtain and radiator in the room letting an overall good room down. What let this visit down the most was managements attitude to guests with commercial vehicles. Plenty of notices make it clear that commercial vehicles should be parked in the “far” car park. I found these notices particularly offensive as the hotel does not offer a discount for these guests or any reason why parking should not be on a first come first choice basis. So why would they ask equal guests to suffer the inconvenience of a considerable walk at the end of a busy days work when there are spaces available closer to the entrance? Clearly those “commercial driving” guests are not as welcome as guests in private vehicles who are therefore given priority! I would suggest that if that is not the type of customer you want to attract, either stop taking their money or make everyone equally welcome. Apart from the distance away from the building, the area designated for paying guests with commercial vehicles seemed frankly reflective of what the managers think of their “working guests” - somewhere to put the rubbish out of sight. See pic below with soiled mattresses and other general rubbish dumped in the same area guests are expected to park it showed poor concern for these guests comfort and welfare and creates a terrible 1st impression. The notices are visible on driving in, at reception and also in several areas in the corridors.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your most interesting comments and assessment of our hotel. I am sorry that you felt our notices politely requesting that our contract guests use the lower car park for their Vans and lorry's safety with the advantage of our full cctv system to watch over the van's that we know hold expensive equipment and tools in, a practice we have observed for many years with many of our regular contracts that use the hotel some 52 weeks of the year and have done so for many years without issue or worry. The fact that the hotel deals with a great many commercial guests throughout the year and have many repeat bookings every week I feel is indicative of our commitment to our guests commercial or private and the fact that we offer additional extras to them such as late check outs early afternoon check ins and room arrangements whereby if they are working late and nights that we accommodate them in a quieter part of the hotel so as they get maximum rest and are able to relax while staying with us safe in the knowledge that we have made their stay enjoyable, pleasant, safe and that they return week after week. The short walk from the carpark to the main building is on check in slightly longer but all our regular repeat bookers know that upon check in they get their key card that indeed opens the door to the hotel building nearest the car park so reducing the short walk to an even shorter walk to their room direct. The small errors in the room have been rectified and with your observations we would not have been able to move forward with this and we continue to monitor and get better with every passing week that we continually learn from and for that I thank you. Clearly you can't satisfy everybody all of the time every time but I do feel that the continuous re-booking from our clients is testimony to how we are viewed and perceived by a great deal of our guest who are booked in up to 6 months rolling with us they are that satisfied with our offering.

"Good [if basic] overnight stop"

A good hotel for an overnight stop on the way to the west country: clean, cheerful staff, good breakfast. A bit hard to find especially late at night! The hotel is in the suburbs of Andover some way from the A303 Lots of car parking.

Having stayed there 28th-30th May, our party of 11 where all impressed with our rooms and service we had especially with getting 11 evening meals and 2 child meals, mainly all different served at the same time!!very well done indeed. The breakfast were very good with plenty of choice traditional English or Continental, and served in a very pleasant restaurant. We all arrived during the afternoon, from many directions, so it was a pity that cake or sandwiches were not available to enjoy in the rather good garden and patio area, although soft drinks or alcohol where, but as the town and shops were not too far away a short trip there for one, solved the shortage, perhaps a thought for the future. All in all a very pleasant stay to what was a busy few days as we where attending our son's wedding in Whitchurch. I read that the entrance drive is to be updated as this could be improved but did not spoil or time there.

"Very clean"

30/05/2018

Well located close to town centre with plenty of free parking. Free wifi too. The first impression as you approach from the drive is somewhat depressing. Something should be done to improve the untidy facade. Also the covered walkway between the main building and rooms is desperately in need of 'smartening' up. The bar / lounge area is functional, clean and tidy but not a place where you would want to linger for long. No pictures on any wall anywhere. No cushions or plants. Dining room is also somewhat bland. We only had breakfast here which was fine. These small additions could make such a difference. The rooms are again very clean and well presented. We would certainly stay here again.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind review, we are in process of changing things, and during the summer a façade lifting up is planning, painting... The Bar furniture and other furniture is mean to be changed in a couple of weeks, and we do take note of your other comments also. Hopefully next time that you are around the area you will have the opportunity to see the improvements, i shall congratulate ours excellent Housekeeking team for their good work.

"Best Western Andover - Comfortable and relatively quiet"

28/05/2018

My wife and I spent 7 nights in the Best Western Andover. The hotel was suitable for our needs and close to all we needed in Andover. We had a quiet room at the rear of the main building which we would certainly ask for again, albeit that a lift the the first floor for a weeks clothing and baggage would have been helpful. Parking was adequate, but more and better lit parking would be preferable. All-in-all we were very satisfied with the cleanliness of the room and the service received from all the staff. We will be coming back.

Lovely hotel, beds were very comfortable, having air con was a massive bonus. The service was fantastic, very clean and couldn't hear any noise. Only downside is the shower dispensers don't work very well. It took me along time to get enough hair and body stuff out of the dispenser.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind review, we are at present changing the dispensers, it is around 1/2 of the hotel been done, hopefully next time that you are with us we can get an update of the newer ones.

Stayed overnight in a twin room (214 I think). It was in mint condition - all the fittings looked new and room was spotlessly clean. Plenty of space to move around the room, and armchair and a desk too. Beds were very comfortable and again, linens looked new. Tea and coffee plus mineral water available in the room, and a gigantic TV! Really, an excellent room for the price paid. We didn't use the bar or restaurant, but the reception staff were pleasant and professional. Would definitely recommend on the basis of the room we stayed in.

"Seems disorganised, food amazing!"

07/05/2018

Booked 6 months ago when hotel was a different brand, was told 6 months later that my card had expired and room wasn't paid for. Then was called again to be told the same. Got there early and met lily who sorted everything and upgraded room. Room very hot, used air con but heating still on. Ate in the evening, good choice, great value for money. Mentioned the heat again but kept being told heating was off. 1 radiator off in room other boiling. Had to get “handy man” in. Breakfast was lovely, good choice, fresh and hot. Asked at 1.30 for a sandwich, receptionist wasn't happy, explained I couldn't go till 6pm with no food. Told me to come back in 15 mins which I did. She told me she had asked the chef and she pulled a face. Menus all still out offering food. Could hear comments being made as they were all preparing for wedding, ( I was attending too but there were guests there that wasn't!) guests were confused as menus were still out. I offered to go to Asda but was told just to wait. Hotel prices were about average, food at reception was exceptional. Breakfast next morning not as good, as more people turning up... not offered toast or eggs like the day before. Came to check out and was told my room still hadn't been paid for (which it had!) tried to say I had room service and drinks on bill but they had the wrong room again. On the whole, great location, done the job.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments and observations. I was very disappointed to read that we had not exceeded your expectations when staying with us and may I take this opportunity to apologise and to explain why we offered you additional drinking water that night on check in due to the draining down of the water system earlier in the day as we had experienced a large flood and leak from the main tank and upon repairing the tank we were advised to offer additional water to our guest that night for drinking for their comfort. Due to the nature of the repair we felt it better to be safe than sorry. With regards to the food offer unfortunately we did have a chef issue that night and were unable to offer food to our guests but this is a decision we took very seriously as we are aware our guests do expect to be able to eat and I am very sorry for the inconvenience this caused. I am sorry that your stay was not as expected and we will continue to improve and move forward and I have passed your comments to the team so we learn from our mistakes

"Lovely location, Unloved hotel."

23/04/2018

Arrived to be told that there were issues with the plumbing and advised not to drink the tap water. When we asked about dining we were told that the hotel was not serving food that evening. We had not been made aware of either of these issues in advance of our arrival. Room very tired and unloved. Cleaning of room and bathroom poor. Bed comfortable. The room that we occupied really needed a total overhaul.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments regarding you recent stay with us here at the Best Western. I am pleased to note that you enjoyed the food and service offered during your stay. We did acknowledge that the radiator was hot when you first informed us and after several attempts to placate the issue we did indeed take the steps of getting our handyman in for your comfort as we were unable to deal with the faulty valve issue that was actually causing the radiator to stay on and thankfully he resolved the issue for you and by using the air conditioning with the bedroom window closed we were able to cool the room for you . I was disappointed to note the comment about the sandwiches requested as we did in fact have a conversation about one of you being diabetic and the need to eat regularly and we did arrange these straight away for you. We did have an issue with you reservation regarding the booking made last year as discussed with Lily prior to your arrival as you had booked A K9 pre-paid supersaver deal that should have been pre-paid but unfortunately due to your card having expired this was not taken, subsequently when you arrived it was confirmed that payment had not been made and that a pre authorisation of your card was taken to allow you to post items to you room during your stay. Lily did explain that on check-in when she upgraded you that payment could be made on departure. We were operating a full buffet breakfast something we do every day of the week without incident. That said we did encounter issues with the breakfast service Sunday due to everyone in the hotel from the wedding wanting to have breakfast all at the same time and this is sometimes a difficult thing to manage as we are aware friends and family want to share breakfast and relate back the night before and this did cause us issues unfortunately on Sunday. I will pass your comments to the team so that we learn from your comments and continue to get better and improve at every opportunity Kind Regards

What a lovely hotel, staff very friendly can't do enough for you especially Kayleigh she was excellent. Food was excellent, had three course evening meal and breakfast the following morning. Called the day before to request an early check in due to specific circumstances. Lily arranged this without a fuss and greeted warmly by her on arrival. Room had a very comfortable bed, new bathroom furniture but needs some attention to stained ceiling and sealant round the bath However it was incredibly clean. Breakfast was one of the best I have had.anywhere. Freshly cooked with best quality bacon and lots of it too! Served by Zorka and Mary who could not do enough to ensure I enjoyed it and my visits to the bar too! Nice chat with Liam as I checked out early at the end of my two days stay.

My wife and I have just returned from a three nights' stay; I think we were the only (elderly!) couple there. The remainder of the guests seemed to be contractors' men or business people. The hotel is situated close to Thruxton motor-racing circuit. It is superbly geared to these markets. The lounges adjacent to the bars are by some standards quite spartan, but clearly aimed at providing plenty of suitable accommodation for those taking the most excellent bar meals. Thus, one does not have the feeling of being prematurely thrust into a retirement home! The young ladies serving at the bar and at breakfast are delightful, and each member of staff we met was very friendly. The comprehensive breakfasts lean very much towards the 'full English', again very suited to the clientele we noted. Our room, in the annexe, was warm, clean, comfortable, and spacious, as was the en-suite. There is excellent walking to be had close at hand, and the town of Andover is about ten minutes walk away. The cost of our stay, including evening bar meals and drinks, was unbelievably low. A very welcome addition to the Best Western umbrella.

14/02/2018

I was staying in Andover on business, at another hotel in the area. On Wednesday 24th Jan after working until shortly before midnight I found I was locked out of my hotel, and nobody was there to let me in and nobody was answering the phone. It was a cold night and I was tired so just needed to find somewhere warm and to sleep ASAP. I had a look online for hotels in the area and found the Best Western Andover. I called them at 00:05 to see if they had any rooms, and Jonathan answered. He said they just had one cleaned and ready to go. He booked me in and said he'd have it ready for when I arrived. When I got there he checked me in, sympathised with me, pointed me towards the free WiFi code, and even lent me his phone charger for the night since my phone had ran out of battery and my own charger was locked in another hotel miles away. Because I was checking in after midnight, he couldn't use his payment system to authorise my card for the night's stay, so he made a call to his manager at 00:30, waking him up to ensure I could get this room and stay for the night, and finally he even somehow managed to get me a bit of discount off the room price he'd quoted to me on the phone half an hour earlier! Literally some of the best service I have ever received, from the moment I called the Best Western everything went so smoothly and I couldn't have asked for more. THANK YOU JONATHAN for saving my skin that night!! All other staff I encountered at the hotel were similarly helpful and nice, and it left me with a hugely positive impression of the place. Hotel itself was nice and clean, if a little tired, but for the price I paid and service I got I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and again. Thanks.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind review, we shall congratulate John and the rest of the staff members for their good work, happy to have you around next time if you are passing by.

We used this as a stopover on our way to cornwall and for one night it was adequate but it didn't leave us with a memory that would entice us to stay longer. The room was perfectly acceptable but overall the hotel needed to up it's professionalism. The restaurant was good enough to not bother going out for a meal but little sign that they attracted walk in custom. The room had all you expect and the bed was comfortable. Lastly, it was very difficult to locate even using the post code and satnav.

"Perfect for a budget hotel"

28/01/2018

The Best Western at Andover had everything that we required and more, especially for a budget hotel. The staff here were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they were really friendly. The rooms themselves are very clean and well kept. The bed was comfortable, both my partner and I slept extremely well. This was helped by the fact that the hotel is in a very quiet area, so is very relaxing. The highlight of the trip was the breakfast, it was absolutely superb and probably the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel (including establishments which are far more expensive).

Julian P, General Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review

Joe and I stayed at Best Western Andover one night recently on business The satellite navigation lead us straight to the hotel and upon arrival we were warmly welcomed The route to our room was via a covered walk way and upon some stairs The room was clean and tidy albeit basic. The one luxury was air con , no doubt welcome in summer months Noisy neighbours weren't the hotels fault but albeit not welcome Breakfast was fine and £79 bill was very reasonable Absolutely fine for the business traveler looking for somewhere to lay their head

Andover is probably never going to be one of the world's top tourist destinations, but if you have reason to want to stay in Andover, then this hotel does the job nicely. It's not right in the centre of Andover, but it's walking distance of the centre. No more than about a 15 minute walk. It's a nice quiet location and I certainly wasn't bothered by any noise at night. Free parking too. My bedroom (an executive room) was a generous size and comfortable enough. The bathroom looked a bit dated, but everything worked and was clean, so that was no real problem. The staff were friendly. I certainly was made to feel very welcome having a drink in the bar. Breakfast was good. A rather limited cold buffet, but a very nice hot buffet, so if you like a nice big cooked breakfast, you won't be disappointed.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your recent review, I was very pleased to read that you found my team to be friendly and the Hotel convenient and adequate for your needs I will ensure your feedback is shared with them. We hope to welcome you back again in the near future. Kind Regards,

"Team Christmas lunch"

2
17/12/2017

We attended the best western for our Christmas lunch in December. The hotel itself is very run down and is in desperate need of renovation. The staff do provide a good service and it's probably this reason alone that the hotel is still open. The room where the function was held had no decorations up at all and there was no Christmas atmosphere at all. The food was served swiftly but very disappointed in the food because although we'd paid around £19 for 3 courses it was clearly frozen out of the bag, no taste and the majority of us left it. I didn't stay overnight so unable to comment on the accommodation but if the food is anything to go by I'm glad I didn't. All in all, would I stay/return to this hotel, no! There are other hotels of similar price that provide a lot better food in a building that isn't filled with cobwebs and falling apart.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, We are sorry to hear that on this occasion the Hotel did not meet your expectations. The Hotel has had, and continues to have a vast refurbishment plan, we have just finish renovating the reception this Christmas/New Year. Not sure about some of your comments, but in any case we shall endevour to do the outmost as always to get it right. Kind regards

"Project in progress"

17/12/2017

Stayed here for 1 night, booked and executive room and got room 103. Room was large, had an interesting architectural feature. Clearly this was the original entrance to the house because the original porch is located in the room, don't walk into the columns if you get up in the night, lol. Bed was comfortable and we both slept well.I would describe the decoration as spartan, no pictures, colour scheme white. Bathroom was spacious, however my pet hate shower over bath, not a small person so i end up attached to the show curtain, heated towel rail wasn't working, could do with deep cleaning and modernising. Breakfast was good, cooked to order. We will be back.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear John S, Thank you for your Kind review, we do take notice of your comments and review. Today we have just started modernizing the Reception and other projects so hopefully next time that you are around in the area you can stay with us and see how we do progress.

"Great staff, but ....."

3
12/12/2017

Hotel staff couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast enjoyable. 'Executive' rooms in main block very comfortable and quiet. However, we were originally booked into room 233 as part of a coach company trip. This is over the function room and watching tv or sleeping were impossible until the music at the function stopped. This would have affected many of the neighbouring rooms in the 'new' wing. Staff happy to move us into an upgrade room near Reception which was fortunately vacant. If booking and if you want to sleep before midnight check whether functions are taking place.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Nigel. E, As spoken, on the day and at Breakfast, my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused, as even if we managed to move you rooms, originally we should have allocated you in there first time. I have discussed this with the Reception Staff, so that this will not happen in the future.

"Adequate for our needs"

03/11/2017

Stayed on a Friday and Saturday night in October 2017 as we were attending a local wedding on Saturday. Not knowing the area this appeared to be the closest hotel to the wedding venue. Finding the hotel is straightforward on the outskirts of Andover. Initial reaction on approaching the hotel was that it looks quite dated but has a good amount of parking spaces. Booking in was easy and first impressions on the walk to the room and the room itself was this hotel had seen better times and was possibly struggling to keep up to date. However, the room was clean and warm and quite adequate for our needs. The hot breakfast on Saturday was cooked to order and on Sunday the hot breakfast was buffet style. There was a small range of cereals in little individual boxes and pots of marmalade and honey available. A pot of yoghurt my wife chose was past it eat by date and had gone off but was changed without fuss. The room was not cleaned or the bed made on Saturday but new towels were provided and the old ones left in the room. All in all a reasonable stay that suited our needs and was what we would have expected for the price we paid.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for you for taking the time to leave us a review following your recent stay with us, I was pleased to read that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. I would like to apologize for the shortfalls in the standard of service that you received on this occasion. We investigating why your room was not made, i believe that the room attendant was under the impression that it was not requested a change, but obviously this was a mistake so we are ensuring that it will not happen again. We do hope to welcome you back to the hotel the the near future.

"Won't be third time lucky"

02/11/2017

The reception staff were helpful and polite which is why they are getting two stars not just one. This place is not what I would expect from a Best Western Hotel sadly. The room was okay ish, small and everything worked but I have never slept in such an uncomfortable bed. That and the fact that whenever the upstairs room or next doors bathroom was used it was so loud. I mean loud enough to wake you. The walls were so thin I could hear the conversation and the guy snoring next door all night ! Wifi was very poor and the condiments in the room were not refilled daily. One pack of biscuits on the first day at check in but that's it for the week. They are obviously a one off gift at arrival ! The tea and coffee weren't replaced completely each day either which I think isn't much to ask for. I have stayed here twice in the past six weeks on business and thought the second time that I'd give the place the benefit of the doubt as I did consider cancelling. However it was the same the second time around too. I have no intention on making it three times though.

Julian P, Manager at Best Western Andover Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for you for taking the time to leave us a review following your recent stay. I am very sorry to hear that you felt your stay on this occasion was not up to standard. Without clear instructions this hotel is a little on the difficult side to locate. Our sat nav sent us through a housing estate nearby. The approach road is very dark so exercise caution.Car parking spaces are sufficient but again exercise caution when entering the reception area as there is a bit of a step that my wife stumbled on.We were greeted at reception and verbally shown to our room 207 which is up a couple of flights of stairs. On entry it became very apparent that our room had several items missing as that were listed on our booking confirmation....a room safe,a telephone, the air conditioning control which was on all night,no wake up/service alarm clock, water bottle,no free toiletries(only the push units on the bathroom wall which were listed). Also the shower button on the mixer taps did not work so a bath was the only choice...the toilet took a few flushes and still did not clear.Breakfast was fine and on our exits we pointed these problems out to reception....Best Western have certainly gone down hill in standards...we use to stay regularly at other hotels.....other chains are leaving you behind....time to pick your game up.Visited Oct 28th 2017

Dear Shane S, Thank you for your review, as discussed with your wife over the phone we have had few changes recently and we are dedicating ourselves hard to turn the Hotel around on those areas that things were not right. We hope that next time that you come from Northampton to the area you can give us a second chance and discover that the place meets your expectations.

I stayed here prior to this visit when it was running under an alternative brand. I am incredibly impressed with the transformation! On my last visit I almost slept in the car due to the umpteen spiders in the room, dated/broken fittings, paper thin walls and resembled something out of Amityville! .... On this occasion however, as a Best Western, the difference is unreal! The room was modernised, comfortable and warm. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming and seemingly proud which was lovely to see. I unfortunately missed breakfast due to having to leave before serving but I'm sure I would not have been disappointed. Signage is obvious now although the lane upto the hotel is narrow. My only criticism is the overflow parking as when I arrived this was incredibly dark and away from any street lighting .. perhaps extra floodlighting could be added? All in all a very comfortable stay and I would certainly pay a visit again :)

Booked in here on Monday for a 2 night stay, while I was on a course. Booking in was easy, left my things here while I went for a wander around town. Room was very clean, and good standard in bathroom. I did not eat in the restaurant, apart from breakfast, which was very nice. Internet reception is poor, but that could be an area thing too. Hotel is a bit of a walk from the town centre , so if you like exercise, you will enjoy the walk back up Micheldever road, to get back to the hotel!

Hotel looks tired from the outside, doesn't look very welcoming. Few car parking spaces but not loads. The receptionist was kind enough and told us what we needed to know. Hotel was extremely noisy at night!! Must have been some kind of party going on somewhere, very loud music and people shouting outside of the room!!! Very annoying and not what you expect of a hotel like this!!!! Room is very basic, I would say over priced for what you get. Not up to the standards of a Premier inn or Travel Lodge. I would not return to this hotel, purely because of the noise at night which seemed to go on for hours and drunken people shouting in the car park and corridor of hotel.

This is such a wonderful hotel, its situated in such a peaceful area although only a stones throw from the town centre. The staff are attentive and obviously care greatly to make sure you have a pleasant stay, the rooms are comfortable and have all the mod cons needed for any stay. The food was excellent and plentiful. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

"Needs some investment. "

One night was probably enough I reckon. In reverse order, the breakfast was very nice and although a bit of a rush due to our wonky timing, much better than dinner. Dinner was poor to be fair, cold chicken satay starters, fillet steak hopeless, Eton mess pudding hardly any meringue and a new waiter who held the top of every glass. Steak taken off the bill. My mate said his chicken main was ok. Banister rail came off in my hand, room clean and ok, radiator permanently on! Very noisy plumbing, bed comfy, walls thin. The staff were a pleasant bunch. The public rooms need some investment as does the exterior. Support and training from HQ almost certainly in short supply.

Stayed overnight just to break our journey to Dorset. Lovely clean room with everything we needed. Evening menu not extensive but ok, maybe would be better on a weekend. Breakfast good quality and plenty of choices. Corridor to room was a little tired but as the hotel has only just been taken over by Best Western I would hope this will improve in time. Staff (David. Nicola and Ryan) were very pleasant, charming and helpful - nice to be met with a smile. Not sure if we approached the hotel from the wrong side of Andover but would never have found it without a satnav

08/09/2017

I have been staying at this hotel for 2 -3 days every September for the past 7 -8 years for a fishing trip - recently taken over by Best Western. All new staff who were all friendly and helpful - some were struggling with what looked to be a new computer system but in good humour - the staff make hotels and everyone here is a credit to the hotel chain. This is the only place that I stay alone and I never feel "out of place" here - the bar area has been redecorated since my last visit and is a pleasant room for a bar meal and a few drinks. The food is improved since the takeover - breakfast offers plenty of choice for a traditional cooked breakfast or something lighter - good choice on the evening menu. Located close to my fishing and just off the motorway / dual carriageway and easy to get to - plenty of on site parking. Everything for my needs on one site - Will be back same time next year. Steve Shannon.

This was a girls weekend away. Room was clean, tidy and the breakfast was very yummy. The staff struggled to keep up with the demand during breakfast at times but maybe we just went down at peak time. Great stay and reasonable priced. Would stay again.

on first arriving you go up a narrow driveway on the right hand side to the hotel . There is very limited car parking spaces outside the main entrance .but to the right there is further parking but in my opinion it does not look as safe as the spaces outside the reception.. staff were helpful and friendly through out our stay and do multiple jobs within the hotel . breakfast was nice and evening meals were lovely although it says restaurant it is actually the same room were you have breakfast. all in all a nice pleasant hotel . There was a wedding reception on the sat night when we stayed but it the noise was minimal and did not affect are stay

Arrived Friday evening after a long day. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs and no lift available. Staff friendly but slow serving in restaurant. Only restaurant I have ever been in which my food was served 15 mins before my partners turned up and his was so hot he had to wait for it to cool down enough to eat. Seemed like solo dining. They did provide a fair take away snack for breakfast as we had to be away early in the morning.

We stayed here for one night to break up a journey with our 2yr old daughter. On arrival I was worried we had made the wrong choice as the outside is quite tired, but the staff were great and the room was fine. If you want luxury and treats this is not the place for you, if you want a practical place to stay then you will be happy. We didnt have any food here, short but steep walk into town with plenty of food options.

Crashed here for a night on route to Torquay - efficient check in, nice quiet rooms, very comfortable bed. Shower was super powerful, temperature did change a little but never to the extent that I had to step out of the shower. Did find a little difficult to find as we arrived in the dark and thought we'd taken a wrong turn down a residential road but all good! Breakfast was really nice as well, a very good place overall and for a great price.

Quiet location and a rather nice view from the hillside position . Arrived for a work weekend at the Leckford Festival on Saturday afternoon . My room was in the annexe and as I staying on my own I felt a unsure about staying . Asked reception if there was a room in the main house but due to a Wedding and the festival they were fully booked .Sarah Jane the newly appointed Manager came to my rescue and couldn't have been more understanding and found me a lovely room . 10/10 Sarah Jane ! I will be back and thanks again .

We stayed here for one night on the way to cornwall. We checked in which was fine but when got into our room the 2nd bed wasn't made up,but to be far they quickly sorted out this problem. We had dinner in the restaurant and I thought the food was really nice. After the meal we went back to the room and by this time my boy was absolutely shattered and went to sleep straight away.Excellent or so we thought.Me and the wife didn't sleep very well cause there was a party going on and the end of the hallway through some doors. It seems like the function room is right where the family rooms are.The breakfast was nice in the morning but had to wait for eggs and the toast was not toast but warm bread, needed to be left in the toaster for longer.

Lovely place to stay and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and basics are supplied. Dinner was yum and I've heard the breakfasts are just as good. Went for a quick walk behind the motel where there is walking tracks that are beautiful, wish I had more time to explore these. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

Really lovely hotel, room (102) was spacious with everything you need or want. Stayed on the Tuesday night, short walk to the town although up a bit of a hill on the way back, there looked some nice places to eat in the town with plenty of variety. I eat in the hotel restaurant and I am so glad I did the food was AMAZING! Salmon to start with avocado and poached egg, fillet steak with all the trimmings followed by cheesecake yum yum!!! Food was not rushed at all every course was served perfectly. Two great waitresses in the restaurant special mention to "Nicola" she was so funny and friendly! A real GEM! Breakfast was fine no frills but you could choose which eggs you preferred and freshly made porridge was on offer. Fish at a supplement. Bottled water x 2 in the room with a big comfy bed and very quiet surroundings. Small quiet bar area with places to chill. Reception staff in the evening were welcoming and helpful. Guy in morning on check out (think his name was Dave) was as miserable as sin and never said one word to me!! Lots of free parking. Air con in the room but I'm not a fan! Would I stay again? Absolutely! Eat in the restaurant? Definitely! See you next time and thank you !!

I stayed at this hotel several months ago when it was called the Quality Hotel and it was only OK. The hotel has been revamped and it is now a pleasant place to be. I booked a double room at very short notice. Not a problem and very reasonable rates. The rooms, bar and restaurant area have all been redecorated and refreshed. The room was very clean with aircon, toiletries and tea/coffee facilities. A reasonably priced bar, good food and pleasant staff made for an enjoyable stay. The Premier Inn has been my choice of hotel when staying in Andover. That first choice may now have changed.

Lovely hotel friendly reception staff who were happy to give directions to town which is a few minutes drive, you can walk it but the hotel is up a hill,so perhaps not suitable for all, Added bonus of air conditioning in room as it was a warm weekend, breakfast was a Buffet and very nice, there's a big car park that did get quite full, but an overflow at the back there's a nice garden too

25/07/2017

Very comfortable stay, booked a twin room as thought weather might be too warm for a double bed in July. Food excellent and plenty of it. Only problem of a wobbly loo seat fixed the same day. Glasses from bar drinks the previous night not cleared the next day and cups not washed from morning coffee but it was a Sunday so thought maybe short staffed?

"Plain but clean"

17/07/2017

The hotel is fine as a basic budget hotel and the room was comfortable however I had paid for an executive king room wanting the extra space but was only given a normal room which didn't cross my mind at the time. Recently redecorated the hotel and room were clean and fresh but there are no pictures or anything anywhere with all the walls being plain magnolia, which felt like sleeping in a slightly upmarket cell. Reception staff were helpful and friendly.

"Receptionist made a serious error of judgement"

4
13/07/2017

There was nothing wrong with the hotel as a basic place to stay. However although bed and breakfast was clearly stated on the booking with Hotels.com the hotel said this was a mistake and no breakfast was included. They intimated that this was a frequent mistake made by online booking agents. Not a good start! Things got worse on the second day of our stay when a man tried to walk into our room at 8.45 am. He was very apologetic but said reception had given him a key. When I mentioned this at reception when checking out the receptionist apologised but said she had given the man a key because he wanted to leave something in the room early before he used the room that evening. She warned him not to use the key until the other guests, us, had left. If we had been out having breakfast he could have entered our room and taken our belongings. When I pointed this out to the receptionist I got another apology. But this is seriously bad practice. I wonder if this has happened before.

13/07/2017

Quaint place away from the city and busy roads. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant to talk to. The room was spacious with a large bathroom that had a nice window to open for the shower steam. The breakfast was large. We had to ask for toast with our eggs and they were glad to bring it from the kitchen. The bar and waiting area is spacious as well. We had trouble printing tickets from their newly upgraded computer so we sent the clerk an email and he printed them from the desk. The many paths leading from the hotel to parts of the city are great to hike and exercise on.

07/07/2017

I stayed here for 4 nights. The room was spacious enough. The only issues i had in the room were u had to put a deposit down for the air con remote which i found strange and the other was the coffee and milk was not re-stocked each day and you had to request for more. The food at the hotel was nice but it did get busy in the bar and when i tried to go in the restaurant i was told i had to book which wasnt mentioned at check in. The staff were very friendly and very apologetic even if you were waiting 30seconds to be served. Overall a good stay for the centre of Andover

After a long plane trip followed by a long drive, we didn't arrive until later in the evening for a one night stop over. And what a pleasant surprise! Accessed via a tree filled driveway leading to the (free) car park, this hotel has a lovely character. The welcome was extremely warm and caring and we immediately felt at home. (We even commented that we preferred the vibe over a six star hotel we had stayed in recently). The room was clean spacious and comfortable and the breakfast the next day while I feel could be improved a bit in terms of more options, was delivered by staff with sunny smiles. A few days later, I received an email advising we had left a top there which Gayle a) had realised was ours and b) kindly sent in the mail, thus saving so much time. Obviously this is not a five star hotel but I gave it five stars for the lovely staff culture, the most important factor in any establishment. Thank you.

The hotel has been refurbished and this has been done very well. The bar, lounge and restaurant are lovely. The food is amazing, this is a proper restaurant not some pub or chips with everything type - it is really lovingly prepared by a proper chef and you can taste the difference. The staff are really nice on reception the bar, restaurant, etc. Highly recommended for business, couples, families. very pretty setting and a short walk to the town centre. A friend has been staying here for 4 days and we had dinner in the hotel with her. The food was excellent. I had Tiger Prawn Rissotto, hubby had Venison and friend had Fillet Steak. Absolutely divine food and service. The hotel has had a complete refurb and all the public areas were lovely. My friend said the room was lovely and the breakfast very good. They have an excellent function room with its own bar, beautifully laid out. The hotel is really close to town but on the edge of Ladies Walk, so surrounded by trees and woods yet a 10 minute walk into the town centre where there are restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shops. Highly recommended.

24/06/2017

Nice grounds and secluded location but distant form facilities in town so a bit stuck up the hill from Andover if you want to shop etc there's nothing around the hotel. Nice clean functional rooms with air con and decent bar and restaurants but service with a smile its not. The staff constantly reviewing and discussing how this are done out loud at reception that you can hear the full discussions in the bar and moaning about the changes since best western took over with constants working in guest areas it all seems very much a work in progress that seems to have taken over the operation of the hotel as oppossed to looking after guests. Breakfast was very nice but revealed a hotel full of workmen and adds to the confusion as to what this hotel is trying to be. I suspect once all the changes are in place things will be better but for now it a pleasant enough hotel and ok for the odd night. Food was reasonable too.

I had a three night stay with my disabled parents. They were in the Universal accessible room, and me in a single. Both rooms were spotlessly clean, great size, well prepared, and had everything you would expect. Iron, hairdrier, Tea / coffee facilities. Air Con. The accessible room had a bathroom with all safety rails that you would want. Staff were very friendly, and the restaurant served very good food. Breakfast was as good as you would want.
