Resumen de la reserva
Wonderful staff! Thank - you Trinity, Red, Julicia and Jacob. The staff made us feel welcome and helped us at every turn. The hotel needs work, hopefully it will be renovated soon. Great location- close to some really good restaurants. Definitely would stay again.
This hotel is beyond repair. Unsafe, unhealthy and not worth any price to stay here. Mold and mildew in shower area. Slow drains. Noisy. Unresponsive staff. Broken elevator. Computers not functioning upon check in. Room not ready well after check in time. Not worth for any price. Look elsewhere. This one is a disaster.
I was very impressed with this hotel until the last night. At 4 am there was a fire alarm and we had to exit the hotel once it was concluded I wasn't able to sleep it was my check out morning. I left my brand new vape on top of the bed it was bright purple. I realize I had left it behind and called the hotel so I could pick it up on my way back home. I was told it wasn't found. There is no way it wasn't found because I did not have it and I clearly remembered seeing it on the bed as I was gathering my luggage. I just forgot it. It cost me $25 I can't stand a thief. I call the general manager and was sent to voicemail I left a message along with my phone number and never received a call back. Very unprofessional. I will take my business elsewhere. I travel a lot and usually do not allow housekeeping in my room because in the past things have come up missing. You need to do a better job on hiring trustworthy people.
The front desk staff went above and beyond to make my experience, fair and enjoyable.I had to shift the days of my trip, which would've made my trip more expensive, but they reduce the rate to the original price. Breakfast was exceptional with waffles, sausage biscuit, and gravy and grits.
Room were dirty and they never cleaned them or brought fresh towels, even though I asked, for 3 days! Holes in the ceiling in BOTH of our rooms. One room the a/c vent was coming out of the wall and making a loud noise. Elevator was terrifying. Stopped and started. Not a great place to stay!
Nice pet friendly hotel with the standard morning hotel breakfast options. Walking distance to stadium and arena. And right next door to Putters semi-dive bar/restaurant with good food and drinks! We would stay here again and the staff at the hotel was very nice.
Our room was clean and quiet. Our only complaint would be the low water pressure in the shower. The staff was friendly and Miss Karen at the desk was awesome. It's a good location nearby to various things. There's a couple of restaurants next door. We would stay there again when in the area.
Requested a first floor room. when we arrived, we were told there was no king beds Available on the 1st floor. Were NOT offered another option. They put us on the highest floor fourth, at the farthest room at the end of the longest corridor. only one elevator was working and it was tiny and shaky, Barely room for 2 people and a luggage cart.. The second elevator closer to our room was not operating Pool looked cloudy that day, and no towels there. so we didn't go in. the next morning There was a sign on the counter, saying pool was closed. In the room, the shower curtain was moldy. The toilet seat was loose and you couldn't open or close the door if there was anyone in the bathroom or on the toilet. The windows draper was dry rotted and tattered. The cover for the air conditioner was halfway off and fell all the way off during the night. There was no hairdryer in the room so we had to go looking for 1 and were given a dirty one from another room. Missing coffes, no water but bathroom faucet. The hotel was in a very questionable end of town. Beggars on the corners. Way below Best Western standards. The last time we stayed at a best western, it was similar conditions. would not recommend will never say there again.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming; however, the place is tired, the tv in our room did not work and no one seem to know how to fix it. One of the elevators was broken and the other one was dirty. One of our beds was missing the insert for the duvet coverlet and the bathroom was tiny and would only fit one person at a time. The ice machine was missing on our floor and what remained was some pipes. While it is convenient to Wake Forest University, I don't know that I would stay there again. It is tired looking and needs a serious refresh. The breakfast was good but they ran out of coffee and it was not replaced while we were sitting there.
Well, the title says it all. Just don't do it. The place is filthy. The room smelled like a combination of cigarette smoke and wet dog. The room hadn't been dusted in years. There was also dog hair on the chair, nightstands, etc. There was a hole in the ceiling. Everything was dated and gross. Disgusting.
Very bad experience. 2 years in a row, basically the same thing happened. Called ahead and was told the pool would be open both times. Both times we drove 6 hours n get there n pool is shut down. Offered us a $30 refund . Couldn't open window due to yellow jackets.
Don't recommend. The room stinks and a hole at the wall. Too much humidity at the room and a lot of dust. I will don't stay again. The bathroom is too small and leak water from the tub. Elevator dirty and smell so bad. I will don't recommend for any friend or family
We used this hotel when visiting Wake Forest University. It is conveniently located and very adequate for our purposes. The facility was clean and breakfast was good. It is showing some age but we were pleased. The only negative was the smell of pot in the parking lot. But that is the world we live in, unfortunately.
Fireworks for several hours one night in parking lot next to our car. Garbage in lot around hotel. The pool was nasty and murky. Rooms had black mold on ceiling, smell of mildew throughout. Staff tried their best - this was not their fault. If you think you're saving money by staying here, or travel time because of proximity to Wake Forest — this is not enough to choose this particular property.
Communicated that we had just killed a big roach in our room that was on the curtain. They called it a water bug and made it seem like it was normal. So when I asked if it was common for this hotel she said Yes that they would find them all the time when they would clean the rooms. The previous night we had friends leave the hotel because of a similar issue. Lady at front desk said she would speak to her manager for some type of compensation but we never heard back. Water bug or roach it is unacceptable. The hallways are also very hot and humid. The customer service experience after communicating our issue was disappointing
Older hotel in need of some repair and some bug maintenance. Does not include comforters nor microwaves. When I asked for a comforter I was told I would have to wait for housekeeping on the morning. I asked again and we received an extra blanket that was only slightly thicker. Also. one night we could not get in because our room door was locked from the inside. The security latch was locked from the inside (it was loose and locked once the door was closed. We asked a front desk clerk for assistance and were told maintenance was gone for the day; thus we asked to speak to someone else who was able to get maintenance to Jimmy it open. Ww tightened the screws to the security lock on our own to avoid it happening again. Also, the curtains and shower need replaced.
Room had a strong intense smell of Pee and from the toilet plumbing . Listen .. this is not a regular pee , it's a plumbing thing according the front desk , so smell is from the whole hotel plumbing . You cannot ignore that !!! There wasn't a working telephone in the room . We had to call front service using our phones , it takes a long time for someone to answer and multiple times no response , you have to go downstairs yourself if you have a complaint or what ever you need . We ordered towels and blankets and nobody brought them after several hours so we went down stairs to pick them up ! Room had intense smell of pee and toilet . We had to go to another family members room to take a shower or pee . When you close the bedroom door when sleeping you smell an intense pee and poop , my daughter who is 6years old covers her nose with blankets when ever we are In The room . It such a very horrible , disturbing , disgusting smell ! I called and complained and one lady at the front told me they are fully booked . She said the intense smell was coming from the toilet ! So she herself was aware . Very dismissive ! How could someone inhale someone's pee and poop coming from an entire toilet for 3days straight ?! We were there for a convention but thinking back we should have left . Inhaling almost every ones pee or waste is toxic !!! The girl said it was due to plumbing .that means we smelling others peoples pee and poop from the waste from everyone's ? Very dissatisfied !!! Call a couple days after when we checked out to speak with manger , the lady at the front , said manager was not around and she took my number to call me back in 30minutes because she has customers checking in and it's been almost 2weeks no call back !!! Spoke to a lady and gentleman and all of them very dismissive !!! We will NEVER go back or recommend . I booked 2 room 306 and 226 . Location was excellent for us but service wise and cleanliness and customer service is extremely poor !!!!
My son and I checked in to this hotel after a long drive from Washington, DC to see Wake Forest. We were tired and needed somewhere close by for a night. Our room smelled horrific when we opened the door. I found two bugs inside of the curtains between the sheer blinds and the window. The AC was dripping and smelled like mildew. in between the two beds was a woman's hair clip and potato chip crumbs. one of the beds had black hair all over the sheets. I did not take photos.
The property was renovated and decent. The pool was not operable and if this is important to you you should call and confirm that it is working. The breakfast was robust and well tended to. Nothing ran out.
We stayed at the Best Western University Plus in Winston-Salem in June 2024, and our experience was very disappointing. Despite booking two rooms with two queen beds each, we were given rooms with king beds, which did not accommodate our group of eight. We were also locked out of our room for over 30 minutes due to room lock malfunctions, and the TV in our room did not work. These issues caused significant inconvenience and frustration, especially after a long 13-hour journey. We did not receive the level of service we expected. We would not recommend this hotel to others.
Nice rooms & good breakfast too! Check in was a very long wait! Not enough help only one person checking in people. Nice property & pool. Wish the bar area would have been open! Close to lots of stores & restaurants! It was convenient to a gas station too
We booked this hotel in advance tonget a better rate and because the reviews were pretty good. Once we checked in, we were told the pool was out of order, and they did offer a refund, but it was difficult to find somewhere else with such short notice. When we got to the room we were very surprised to see how small the room was, especially the bathroom. We had to call the front desk because the air conditioner was making a high pitched noice constantly. They sent maintenance and he couldn't fix it so the switched rooms for us. In general, the hotel is dirty and rundown with multiple holes in the doors and walls. I would give it a zero if it were an option
Mold in shower. Calk fell off bathtub. Toilet seat lose dirty scary elevator fire extinguishers not inspected bathroom door scraped the toilet when opened
Service that I experienced was very much positive. I had a nice and peaceful stay per usual and I really appreciate that.
Place was dirty...careless...never any management available and no towels for 4 days Had to claim them myself notwithstanding multiple requests
This whole facility needs a complete renovation. From the unprofessionally dressed front desk(which really wasn't even a real front desk, more of a table) staff to the rusty bathroom fixtures and cigarette burned comforter, this place was a total wreck! The elevators were tiny, dirty and felt like we were gambling on our futures every time we used one, the random furniture looked like the owners went to a warehouse that more reputable hotels send their old furniture to and picked through the leftovers and the outside looks like they have just been removing loose pavers and tile instead of replacing or repairing them for the last 15 years. None of the ice machines on any floor worked, there were no microwaves in any of the rooms and there was a shabby feel to the whole place, which was in no way chic. Overall, this hotel was one of the worst I've ever stayed in, and we got to pay $367/night for the privilege, instead of the $75 it was worth. Since it was WFU graduation weekend I can understand the price being a little extra, but charging us that much for the room we got was disgusting. Will never stay at a Best Western again.
Overall the staff was very friendly & accomidating . If I'm ever in the area agian I will be staying here. I traveled with pets and the receptionist was able to switch my room to the first floor and that made traveling so much eaiser!! Very clean rooms and bathrooms.
We had to change rooms twice and refused to change again even though there was no heat. The staff did the only thing they could do, which was to give us blankets but management didn't do anything to compensate for this! We will not stay at any BW again.
weird but wonderful. It has been a long time since I stayed in a hotel this complex. Long hallways with a Steve King kind of vibe, very small elevators love it. The room was clean and comfortable. Very peaceful and secluded. Now the downsides 1) The hot water tap was loose and not working till my multitool and I fixed it. 2) The lounge decided not to open that night. 3) The most important the bathtub was very slippery and I fell almost out of the tub only the side and my right hand kept me from kissing the floor so be extremely careful. The breakfast was very good, Peggy Sue approved.
The hotel need a total renovation the room very cold and had no extra blankets. The bathroom was very small and the shower was hard to adjust and the tub was slippery. The food was as the worst I everhad in any hotel
This hotel could really use a good cleaning. Upon arrival our room was just gross- the floor was sticky, the artwork and wall had holes in it, the fridge didn't work, and it smelled like feet. The shower was incredibly slippery & the shower curtain was ripped. The front desk staff was kind enough to give me some cleaner so I could wipe off the sticky from the tile floor, but the cleaning staff was put out that I had it. We rented out the restaurant for a private event, paid for a buffet of sub-par food, and then caught the wait staff making plates of food for themselves and taking it to the kitchen to eat. For breakfast, the restaurant was a disaster. If they had more staff, they may be able to handle the upkeep of this hotel. Bright side, the beds were comfortable.
I believe this hotel has just become a Best Western? Curtains hanging off the rods, vending machines torn from the walls, carpets with haphazard staples, window screens knocked off -- the floors are uneven, the bathroom is not nice -- didn't feel like the safest place to be traveling alone. I like a Best Western, but this was a bit of a dump. Proximity to Wake Forest is great, but there is an expectation of clean and comfortable at Best Western -- this was neither.
Rooms were clean, staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was closed when we were there. The complimentary breakfast wasn't the best, only hot food was the make your own waffles. They had dry cereal, bagels and yogurt too.
Hotel is generally clean, and our room was clean and comfortable if a bit small by US chain hotel standards. The breakfast area was also large, clean, and stocked with a better-than-expected selection of continental items, some hot items, and waffle makers. This hotel's issue is its general state of disrepair: - Persistent, generally unacceptable sewage gas smell in bathroom. - Desk chair with screws so loose that it's on the verge of dumping and injuring the sitter; in:room lamp with no light bulb. - One of two elevators out of service, with the in-service elevator being at the back of the hotel and shared by hundreds of guests and housekeeping carts; well-worn elevator cabin with burned out buttons. - General torn wallpaper, damaged entrance awning etc, etc. Hotel is fine if price and availability render the disrepair worth your while. Otherwise keep looking. -
Pros: relatively clean, comfortable bed, excellent water pressure, friendly staff, plenty of offerings for breakfast. Cons: Water damage from what appeared to be a recent flood, the bathroom door was difficult to close. No fan in bathroom. Repairs needed on walls and doors.
I stayed at this Best Western over the weekend (8/11-8/13) and it was a pleasurable experience. The hotel was clean, and although an event was being hosted in the lounge, the guest living quarters were very quaint. The breakfast was very fresh and the ambience made the experience even the more better.
Clean property within walking distance to our convention. Nice hot buffet breakfast including fresh, hot coffee! Meeting/breakfast area for all to gather in the morning. Restaurants nearby and convenient shopping area.
We had a good stay overall. Check in was fast and friendly. The lobby was well appointed with a self check-in to use. We checked in with the front desk they were friendly and fast. This is an older property so please do not expect five star hotel, but you can expect a clean room and friendly service. The bed slept good and the A/C worked good. The water pressure in the shower was great. Breakfast had a lot of variety and was hot and fresh. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.
We haven't even checked in yet. They said it's a $30 early check in fee before 3pm. It was 2pm. If you don't have open rooms, say so. That's an acceptable answer. If you have open rooms, what is the issue with checking in an hour earlier? We won't be back.
Never have I ever been charged an early check-in fee! Never will I ever pay one! Nor will we ever stay at best western in the future! Shaking my head! The place was EMPTY! Stay tuned, we'll let you know about the room after we check-in promptly at 3pm!
Great value and excellent location to shopping, parks, sightseeing and Wake Forest University as well as Winston Salem State University. Walking distance to a convenience store, drug store and restaurants
The staff was friendly. The lobby was nice. The room we stayed in was dirty. Things were grubby. The carpet was sticky. Throw pillows had stains. Air conditioner smelled super musty making the whole rooms smell musty.
The hotel was dirty. Our shower did not work. There is a night club in it that played loud music until 2am. The beds are uncomfortable. The A/C loud and ineffective. We were supposed to be there 3 days and checked out after one day. This is not a hotel for families.
Our room was clean enough, but needed a deep clean. Mold & rust in the shower. The bed was very firm and the pillows & linens were ok. The wifi and TV reception were affected by the weather. This entire hotel has been abused. The furniture in our room while fairly new, had been thru a war. The hot breakfast consisted of a cold biscuit sandwich that you popped into the microwave. This location is marketed as a Best Western Plus. The property doesn't deserve the PLUS rating, as it's deceiving. I was attending a graduation at Wake Forest University. My room was $200 per night, I stayed 2 nights. I understand price increases with demand, but double is rather greedy. Oh well. I will not be returning to this location.
Sink drainage was terrible Toilet seat was crooked/broken Tub was stained stopper was off in soap dish. Lipstick on a pig Hampton Inn prices for Motel 6 amenities The bathroom amenities made one question the rest
Not your average Best Western. Unresolvable problems with television, phone, leaking toilet and broken shower head. The staff were friendly but unable to offer any assistance besides moving us to another room which, unfortunately, suffered some of the same problems.
The gentleman who checked me in went above expectations in making me feel like a special guest upon my arrival. As I walked to the desk and let him know I was here to check in, he called me by name and had already upgraded my room as they were not busy during this time. The bar and grill in the lobby was very friendly with good drinks at affordable costs. They also had a live Jazz night going on. Great place to hang out. I would definitely stay there again if I'm ever in the area.
Toilet clogged twice. Phone broken. TV had no satellite signal. Smoke detector had been ripped from wall. Hot tub jets emitted glitter from previous users. I got a discount because of all this, but really, I'm not sure it was even legal for them to rent a room without a smoke detector. I paid $200 for this mess! I'd hate to see what the budget rooms were like!
Overall it was an okay stay. I do think it could of been cleaner and warmer in the halls. for the price we paid was a little disappointed. We had stains on our carpet and for being a jacuzzi suite would of liked to have seen a little bit more wow factor. The tub was great but room was okay.
The Best Western is a good option to stay for a quick, casual trip. It's a straightforward place and the price is solid for what you're getting. I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast buffet and the friendly service.
We love staying here when we visit 3 young adults at Wake Forest. Simply Sonya's was over the top fun, delicious and well staffed. The exceptional quality of the drinks and food and most of all the servers will have us coming back time and time again. Cheers!
Simply Sonyas has the best grilled wings!!! Live music and good drinks. The staff is very nice and place is clean. Feel free to dance or go outside and sit on the nice furniture. Awesome chill spot!!
I love this place fell in love soona s I walked in the establishment... Very clean bear great service great food and music amazing hospitality... I can visit this place every day.. All day and spend hours and hours... Every one is very Manerable... I also love the simply Sonya every thing was beyond amazing.. God bless them all
The hotel was good, nothing spectacular but the downstairs bar Simply Sonya's was a great time. I walked downstairs to ask a question and stumbled upon this gem. Great food! Great customer service! Great cocktails! I would come back to this hotel simple for Simply Sonya's ❤️❤️❤️❤️!
Came to Visit the Best Western Plus to see what the food was like at Simply Sonya's. The hotel was clean and welcoming. The food was great and the customers and staff had great hospitality! Thank you!
I wish there were 0 stars. Tried to check in at 1pm, was rudely told to come back at check in time of 3pm, no rooms were available. Came back at 4:30, had to wait 1 hour for a room Room was dirty, no bathroom supplies, even simple things like the elevators were dirty and smelly. Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in quite a while
The room was filthy, shaving hairs all over the sink, someone else's bar of soap in the tub, something sprayed all over the mirror, floors were not vacuumed and the hallways and elevators were equally as filthy. Additionally, one working ice maker for this 4-floor hotel and that was hard to find. The staff were very nice and breakfast was good, but I would never stay here again.
This is perhaps the worst hotel experience I've had in over two decades. There is a dance club attached to the hotel which takes it completely over. Have no idea is the club is only on weekends, because that is when we stayed. You can hear the music in the rooms and feel the base. The parking lot is full of intoxicated individuals that I don't want around my kids. If you want to park in the parking lot after the club opens good luck. I parked at the Marriott across the street and booked a room there for my 2nd night vs. ever staying at this place again. The phone in the room didn't work, which is probably by design. This is not a kid friendly place and this hotel is not for anyone who wants to actually sleep. I've stayed in plenty of hotels with clubs attached and they know how to separate the two businesses. This place does not, nor do they care when you ask them about it. Absolutely ridiculous you can't even park in their parking lot because it is too full from their dance club. Please don't make the mistake I made and stay at this location. It may be fine during the weekdays, but I will never find that out. The room was clean is the only positive I can say.
This is a terrible place to stay. We showed up and the toilet had vomit on it that was not cleaned. We let the staff know and they didn't seem to care. We attempted to fall asleep but apparently they have a night club playing deep bass all night long. It was so loud you could feel the vibrations in the bed. I guess they don't want you to call and complain because the phone doesn't work and is dead. I came into town and picked this place because most best western plus hotels are decent. I would not recommend staying here. I wish I had read the reviews before I booked. I would have chosen a different place to stay based on the reviews.
Where to start? Good things - decently clean bed clothes. Everything else needs serious attention, from loud hip-hop on parking lot to barely functioning elevator. Some times in 60s this was great place to rest. Meanwhile, they tried to refresh it. I am sure it would be cheaper to tear it down and start the new one on this spot.
We were in town for a wedding and found this hotel that wasn't too far from the church. We happened to check in on a day that there was a huge party of people checking in for a family reunion but even with the line the clerks checked us in a timely manner. Our room was clean and quiet. The room was cleaned daily and hotel is pet friendly. There was enough parking. There is a restaurant on property but it was reserved for the weekend by the reunion group. A nice breakfast was provided every morning. The hotel is located within a few miles of downtown, Old Salem and Wake Forest University.
First, I made our reservation for 2 rooms in July for a late august stay. I called the day before to ensure we had adjoining rooms. My family is big... We arrived to find out that one of our rooms had been given away and we only had 1. The person tried to give us a room with 1 bed with no discount for their mistake. She finally did find a room with two queens (which is what we needed for the amount of people we had) but it wasn't close to the other room. Still no discount offered. I was told to contact the manager the next day. Really!? Now to the rooms: First room: door doesn't latch without being slammed. Bathroom is so tiny that the door hits the toilet. Air conditioning readjusted on its on in the middle of the night so we were sweating. Faucet was leaking all over the counter so we couldn't put anything on the counter without it getting sopping wet. Tissue box in bathroom empty. Second room: door doesn't latch without being slammed. Bathroom so tiny that the door hits the toilet. Bathtub clogged so your standing in tons of water by the time you're done. Overall, the walls are thin. You can hear everything going on around you. And there are no actual comforters on the beds just really really really thin blankets. Strange. The biggest thing was their lack of apology for completely giving away one of our rooms and acting like it wasn't a big deal at all.
Horrific is best adjective. Rude, texting front desk person. Room not prepared at 6pm. Made us haul our luggage back out. We then got our room at 8pm. Trash everywhere. Odd stains on the walls. Herds of children running the halls unsupervised until 1-2am. Horrific. Stay away.
My stay at the Best Western Plus in Winston-Salem was the absolute worse hotel experience I've ever had.. None of the rooms assigned to my production (which had 10 rooms booked by the National Black Theatre Festival) were serviced properly as a hotel should service rooms. This included rooms not being cleaned one time by staff (though requested) from Tuesday through Sunday; being promised towels, soap, and washcloths and the staff never delivering on what was promised.
Walked in , had to go find someone. Then was advised they were short handed and if we need more towels to leave the used ones in the hall and call front desk and they would have someone bring us replacements. Also was advised the room would not be serviced until the second day due to housekeeping short fall! Really!!! It was a Queen kitchenette but it had no microwave. Never stayed anywhere that the room did not have microwaves. Was told only suites had them. The only ones available were in behind the front desk. As room was at end of the hall, had to walk all the way to the other end then right another hall then right and all the way to the main entrance!!! Could have walked across the central pool area but the door was locked at 11pm but it was an interior door. Floors in the place were filthy and the pool was completely disgusting. Mater floating in the water and clouds of matter in pockets at the bottom of the pool every where. COMPLETE HEALTH HAZARD! There was at least two party groups using the "conference/Breakfast room. The music went on from the time I checked in ,3pm , until 1am that night! Was told at check in as our room was on the other side of the hotel we would not hear it. But you could hear the NON STOP thump thump anywhere in that place! Did not stop until 1am.
We only stayed 1 night but it was greater than expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. The breakfast was good. If I had to complain about anything it would be the bed was firmer than I personally like. But if that's all there is to complain about, not bad
We usually stay at Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn, or Best Western Plus when we travel. This Best Western Plus was definitely a step below the other chains that I mentioned. It was not as clean as I would expect or hope. There was a general level of wear and tear that made the place feel tired. We slept ok and there was a large breakfast room with lots of tables and a good selection of breakfast items. But I would look elsewhere before I stayed here again.
Nice hotel. Room ok size. Beds comfortable. Quiet for a good night's sleep. Breakfast had a nice variety of options. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate available all day. Ladies at desk were excellent and made check-in and check-out easy.
Booked this hotel after reading reviews. When we got there we was very disappointed. The hotel staff was the only GOOD thing about this hotel. Very friendly! The first room we had the ac was broke and had no filter. There was about 2inches of dirt cakes to the front. The bathrooms was filthy. Shower curtain was brown. Bathrooms were very tiny. The tub was dirty and you could see dirt caked in the corners. We asked for a new room. The new room we got the bathroom was dirty. The ac filters looked like they haven't been cleaned in a few weeks. The bed was terrible and the floors was wet over by the window. I would never stay at this hotel again.
This is probably the worst BW Plus we've stayed in. We normally stay in BW plus hotels when we travel. The beds were hard as rocks and comfortable beds are what we usually get in this chain.. This is an older hotel that has been poorly remodeled . If you are interested in night life and drinking they have a huge bar with at least 8 large screen TVs in it. This room is where they spent all their money. It doubles as breakfast area in mornings. Our room didn't have any towels or toiletries in it when we arrived . Pass this one up.
I can't understand how this hotel has good ratings. It is old. The hallways are depressing and smelly. The rooms are old, smelly and need updating. I don't know much about the area but this hotel felt like it would be in a sketchy neighborhood. The tub was scratched and cracked. It had been painted and the paint was coming off. The bathroom was so small the door almost touched the toilet when it was opened or closed. This was one of those stays I couldn't wait to be over.
I stayed one night with my son the AC drain was leaking into the room and the carpet was wet. the bathtub did not drain well. Breakfast was mostly prepackaged pastries. There were waffles, biscuits and gravy there wasn't any biscuits. The place was very dated and in need of a remodel
I was so pleasantly surprised by the BW University Inn in Winston Salem. The motel was modern and well cared for and the room was clean and extremely pleasant. I was impressed by the soundproofing between rooms too, The sheets were lovely! Everyone who worked there was super friendly and welcoming. An excellent value for a very nice room!
The staff was kind and helpful when our flight got delayed and we didn't know when we would be able to check in. But everything after that was a disaster. The bathtub was filthy, with dark hairs stuck and some kind of dirt - also it had been painted and the paint had started to fall off so someone had just placed it on the side of the tub which shows the level of cleanliness at this hotel. I couldn't get myself to get anywhere near that tub, my friend placed a clean towel in it to be able to take a shower. She called the reception desk and asked for someone to clean the tub but was told that they had to clean all the other rooms first. So I didn't shower during our stay there, it was gross. There was a dead ladybug stuck in the dirty drapes, the fridge was noisy, the AC was old and noisy, the ice machine was right across from our door and every time someone got ice it woke us up. It wasn't placed behind glass or anything like that. The "Do not disturb"-sign was on the floor in the closet - with some kind of dirt on top of it. It was like a 20-dollar hotel that we were charged 500$ for 2 nights. I would be embarrassed if I had worked at this hotel and let people as much as SEE that room. The beds were comfortable though and staff nice when we arrived in the middle of the night.
Great hotel, friendly staff, and an excellent location if you are here for an event or game at Truist Field. A little far away from restaurants and other amenities. Otherwise, a quiet location away from the big city lights.
There were dead fruit flies on the table between the beds, the ice machine didn't work and there wasn't a vending machine on our floor, the shower head was broken, the toilet was dirty, the bathroom door won't open all the way because of the poor design of the bathroom, my car was hit and there was a huge cluster with all that, I needed some unscented soap and they didn't sell ANY kind of soap.
The hotel was very clean and up to date. On a 12-day, 3,000 mile road trip, the water pressure in the shower was the best - very much appreciated! The breakfast room was inviting and included make your own waffles, biscuits and gravy, hard-boiled eggs, along with the standard cereals, yogurt and fresh fruit.
I have nothing but good to say about this hotel. 1. Check in was easy and front desk very nice. 2. Room very clean and comfortable 3. Housekeeping thorough and very nice. 4. Breakfast is complete but the only down side was there was choices for those with gluten / dairy intolerance
The design of the bathroom (at least for the room we were staying in) is quite poor. The door of the bathroom opens inwards & almost hits the toilet seat. If you have a "larger" or "elder" guest, it is very hard for them to get in & out of the bathroom with a door that actually hits the toilet! I think the engineer and the architect could have spared a few more inches from the room & make the bathroom slightly bigger. Also, the vent in the bathroom is very loud and is "on" all the time (there is no switch to turn it on & off as needed). The engineers and architects the BW used for the renovation were not so good at their crafts!
Nice location central to Wake Forest's football stadium, the university, and Winston-Salem. The hotel is somewhat refurbished, but still tired in some areas. Very nice mattresses and a decent TV. HVAC was fairly quiet which was a plus. The bathroom in our room was very small, and tired, but the shower had great water pressure. For only one night, this hotel was fine. The breakfast options were pretty limited, unless you want waffles and/or a bagel/toast. We headed to Starbucks so the 'free breakfast' wasn't a plus for us.
Bath towel had a big hole in it; air conditioner leaked water in a large area of the floor; staff was friendly and helpful for the most part; phone did not work and cell had to be used to call the front desk; no problem with cutting stay one day short when my plans changed;
I was only there for one night but my room was clean and the staff was very nice. I did eat at the restaurant. The wait staff was extremely personable and the food was very good. the exterior could use some “sprucing” but the interior looks nice and up to date. seemed like a safe area close to the university less than 10 minutes from downtown.
The staff is friendly the rooms with clean the breakfast was great and the beds were very comfortable the location was great also is right near many restaurants and plenty of things to do and see so I would say just make that your place next time you come to Winston-Salem, North Carolina Best Western University Parkway
Booming bass speakers kept everyone awake until after midnight. Hotel staff were called numerous times, but, refused to do anything about it. We were told they would try to get decibels reduced and even at one point staff said it would stop in 10 minutes. Noise was so loud that coffee cups on desk were vibrating
Walking distance to the WF basketball or football stadium. Great bar, Sonya's, with friendly staff. Parking is plentiful and a great value for the money. The bar had a Karaoke party on Friday night with 50 people (families, kids, all) from various groups.
Over all the Hotel was really nice, very Quiet and didn't have any stinky marijuana smells in the halls or coming from any rooms; and they were very accommodating to us having our dog with us… But room 220 the AC/Heating unit had a really loud humming noise and that kept us from getting a good nights sleep… The girl with the Accent was also very pleasant/awesome at check in and gave us suggestions as areas to look as we were considering moving there… Breakfast the next morning was very good and was included free with your stay…
I have stayed here before in the past and it was convenient and a value for the money. This time I found the management EXTREMELY lacking. They asked us to fill out a special form if we wanted extra towels, so naturally since I was staying 3 nights with my partner we were in need of clean towels and left the form on the front desk at 8 am. We finished our business at 4pm and got back to the room--NO TOWELS. We tried to call the front desk to request the towels. The phone DIDN'T WORK. We went down to the front desk to request towels and we were told, "sorry we have no clean towels. " Complained to the front desk attendant the next morning, all he said was, "sorry you experienced that, I thought we had a few clean towels." Wow, what kind of hotel doesn't have towels???? What kind of hotel doesn't have working phones? What kind of hotel makes you fill out a form for towels??? What kind of hotel asks you to fill out a form, then ignores the form???
Overall very happy with the stay here. The breakfast was good with a lot to choose from. The room was nice. Could have been a little cleaner but overall it was clean. I would stay here again and recommend this place.
The sales manager was rude. She was disrespectful and I would not want anyone staying at this hotel to expierence what I expierence. The hotel room did not have a microwave and they did not replace the towels.
This hotel had very poor housekeeping service. Trash was not emptied, requests for fresh towels was unanswered several times. One of the beds was completely made and the other lacked a blanket. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a nice part of town with plenty of options for shopping and dining.
The staff is great, breakfast hot, but the room was in poor condition. I found out, as I was leaving that the window didn't close or lock, the floor lamp socket was hanging loose. The bathroom door wouldn't fully ope due to the installation of an oversized toilet. On arrival I identified that the desk chair was broken & a light bulb was missing next to the bed; both were replaced within 5 minutes.
The bedrooms have been updated with a modern look, however the bathrooms are very small, and the cable channels seem pretty limited to me. The king size bed was very comfortable and everything worked fine in the room. Aria was a standout front desk clerk. She was very friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend the hotel for a relaxing overnight trip and very good hospitality.
I never signed a pet fee incidental and got charged 60 dollars. I would ask for shampoo and they acted like I was an inconvenience. I was ran down at midnight to be asked if I had a pet. The toilet was leaking sewage. Awful!
1. Toilet seat- broken 2. Room phone didn't work 3. TV didn't work 4. Internet code didn't work 5. Visible cob web on ceiling 6. On a two night stay we were locked out the 2nd night 7. Housekeeping went through our luggage taking out our personal items. All of this was totally unacceptable. Will never stay at Best Western again.
After carefully reading all the glowing reviews, and because of the location, I decided to book a room to help my daughter get settled into her dorm at WFU. We checked into the hotel around 5:00. The lobby was dirty. That was my first red flag. Long lines which was to be expected. On the walk to our room, I noticed horrible staining on the carpet. It was dirty. The room was like stepping onto the set of a horror movie. I have never seen anything like it. We travel a great deal and have stayed in a variety of hotels. Stains on the curtains, walls, lampshades, carpet. Bathroom stains. Overall cleanliness was below a zero! It smelled and was very humid. The room felt damp/moldy. I immediately booked another room 30 minutes away in Greensboro since there were no others available in Winston. Do NOT be fooled by all the great reviews. I wish I had taken photos to share but I was in a hurry to leave.
Rooms were nice and clean , breakfast was good what you would expect. Employees were all pleasant and helpful. Lots of parking and not too far off the highway. Centrally located many restaurants walking distance. Second time we have stayed here on way to Myrtle. Will definitely stay again
The smell is absolutely the worst. There is no earthly way the cleaning staff don't know about this; it is simply overpowering. There was food dried to the top of the writing desk, left from some guest in the past. No effort had been made to wipe it down. Only stay here if you can endure the dank odor that hangs heavy and permeates into everything you bring into the room.
We had a great experience staying here. Clean, breakfast was great, staff friendly, and it was obvious it was under good management. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. As a matter of fact we wish we could get the same mattress and pillows for our home. Location was perfect for the business we had in town while there.
Groupon gave me an excellent deal on my stay. The hotel was far better quality than similarly priced competitors and the location was unbeatable visiting friends at Wake Forest. I would definitely stay here again, I only have good things to say about the friendly staff, delicious breakfast, and quality of the room.
the hotel was nice, but the toliet paper roll fell apart and no one bother to try and fix it. Housekeeping never bothered to look for the roll holder and never bothered to look for it. the heating unit was very noisy.
The staff is wonderfull and having a person doing your fresh omelette every morning for breakfast was over my expectation. The quality vs price is very good. Usely I have to double to get that kind of services
The room was comfortable except for the AC unit - it blows right onto the closest bed and it is impossible to sleep. Breakfast was really great, though, and the staff was helpful. They advertise that this property was recently renovated. and I suppose it is in decent condition for the most part. Generally I would recommend this property for its location, but they need to fix some problems.
The BAD: My family and I checked into our room on 11-9-19 at 3:00OPM. The room smelled like poop as soon as we walked in. Clearly, someone had just made a mess in the toilet right before we arrived. I went back down to the front desk to get a new room and both ladies at the front desk were not happy that I had asked for another room. Eye rolls, dirty looks, blank stairs, etc. Eventually, I did get a new room. The rooms keys didnt work this time. I noticed 3 people also returned to the front desk because their keys didnt work either. THE GOOD: breakest was very good.
NEVER AGAIN!!!!!Biggest and most important complaint... There was a wedding reception taking place that started around 2 with exceptionally loud music that could be heard through the ENTIRE hotel. Every room! The reception lasted was past midnight and I complain to the front desk twice. They didn't seem to care at all. I called the police. I have never stayed in a hotel where the banquet call music was loud enough to be heard throughout the hotel. I believe it was a full band. The carpet was clearly not vacuumed as there was bits of something all up and down the hallways. They were down to one elevator so we have to walk a ways to get to the other elevator which was super slow. Probably due to the number of kids staying there.
I absolutely love this place! The staff is awesome but Linda in the dining room is my favorite. She is the most friendly and welcoming person and I just love her! Very nice, updated hotel with great amenities.
This is a very nice hotel. The fitnes center is great for that workout. They have a nice little bar for that needed night cap. Beakfast is great even has an omlette bar. It's in a really good location close to food but quiet. I slept like a log.
Had to be moved to three different rooms because of bugs. Staff didn't act like it was a big deal, so I'm assuming they get this issue a lot. The manager made excuses and said there was nothing they could do to keep bugs from entering hotel.
Odor of urine and body odor. Carpet was extremely dirty. Lighting very poor. Had a rolling toilet seat in bathroom. Didn't report the need for repair because we would be checking out the next morning. I sprayed Lysol to help the odor but after an hour it dissipated.
Staff is friendly and helpful, dining room very spacious; omelettes to order and all the food was fresh. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was to firm for me; however I enjoyed the stay and will stay there again if we go out that way again
While I wanted to try something different from Hampton Inn in a newly renovated facility, the rooms were not very clean. the housekeepers were unprofessional and need to be retrained. The front desk personnels were friendly and quick. The omelettes at breakfast might attrack me back there.
This hotel was recently "renovated" but is very seedy. The front lobby looks ok, but everything else is rundown and old. The renovation was very poor quality. The rooms have surface remodeling but the bathrooms still have old, dirty bathtubs and walls. My bathroom had a smell of recent paint, but only one wall was repainted. The AC unit is very loud, and old. I was next to an adjoining room and the guests were very loud. I was moved to a new room, which I did appreciate. The new room however had no fridge. The halls are dreary, the elevator was beat up and dirty. Everywhere is dirty other than the front lobby. Do not waste your money, There are other hotels near WFU for similar price that are much better.
This property looks nice in the photos and was recently “refurbished”. But ... what a disappointing stay. Never a good sign when you pull up and the elevator is broken. Downhill from there. The worst night of sleep at a hotel almost ever. The AC unit was an old style, in-room big unit and was deafening even with earplugs. A roar, like none other I've ever experienced. The only good thing was that it competed with our noisy neighbors in the adjoining room. It appeared to be a bus load of college age guys piling into a bus the next morning. Not sure who thought it was a good idea to stick us in a room right next to a room of these young guys but all night - doors slamming, yelling - you name it. Called the front desk, but the noise never abated. Awful. Finally gave up on the AC and decided to sleep in the sticky hot room ... I thought about leaving and shifting to another hotel all night long. all night long. Also - note that there is a safe in the room which we wanted to use but couldn't because it didn't work and we were told “they're removing them” when we checked out. Not very inspiring. What a bummer Best Western ... and please stop with the meh breakfast - not much but sad scraps left over in a dirty seating area. And an 84 sanitation rating? Ouch :( Room appeared clean enough (shower needed a bit more cleaning), bed comfy enough, property close to WF campus. But everything else was a FAIL.
So the good-clean modern rooms, chairs for check in, fruit and cookies. The bad- ants in bathroom, lots of trash in gym and hallways, elevator not working and no signs of it being repaired, omlettes at breakfast only an occasional thing if feel like staying. All other items extremely unhealthy, morning guest services lukewarm at best and got extended check out till noon but told one minute after and charged for full day.
We were here for drum Corp event at the football stadium. This was a great hotel. The only down was the water pressure was to low but other then that it was a great value for your money right across the street from the football stadium. (We walked). Breakfast was very good. We're had dinner late in the bar and thru were serving from a special"soulfood" menu and it was really good. The bartender Tony was great and the lady that cooked the food came out to see how we liked it. Overall great stay for the dollars spent.
I needed towels and a toothbrush late at night and their staff was on duty at 11pm to help. They actually had someone available all night. Everyone was courteous and friendly. The food at the restaurant/bar was delicious. The breakfast had a wide variety and was really good as well. The bar had a great atmosphere. The rooms were clean and the hotel was welcoming. I would definitely stay again.
If the place isn't clean, it doesn't deserve high marks no matter what else is decent (breakfast was good, server at breakfast was lovely). Hair in bed linens and bathroom, jelly/blood? on bed linens, food in fridge from past guests, little black moths on walls and in bathroom. Ice maker and soda machine out of order.
Rooms were very cold because there was mold on ceilings moved to another room same thing. talked to other guess same problem, They try to cover up the mold with paint instead off getting rid of it. Staff was excellant, breakfast was great.
I have stayed at Best Westerns before but this one goes above and beyond to make your stay very comfortable. I stayed overnight to attend a college tour at WSSU. The room was spotless, the mattress was comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful, especially the fresh omelette bar! They even have a bar available in the evening with food purchase options. The staff is very friendly. Give them a try you won't be disappointed.
Great service great price great breakfast! Pros Beds were very comfortable. Price was great we booked through booking.com but upon arrival mentioned our AAA membership and got a better price. Good location neighborhood seems safe. Breakfast was phenomenal best continental breakfast we've ever had. They even have an omelet bar which the hostess said is a regular thing not just for the July 4 holiday. Also upon checking in they had fresh baked cookies and fresh fruit. It was also very quiet and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Cons our electronic key did not work so staff had to unlock our door with a key to get us back in the room. Also there was no blow dryer in the room I guess someone walked off with ours. I asked for one but the guy forgot to bring it up when he came to unlock the door and I just let it go, wanted to get on the road. Also the bathroom has no fan to ventilate the bathroom so after showering it was too steamy to do your hair if you wanted to. The shower curtain was too small for the shower and water leaks out unto the bathroom floor which whatever didn't bother me. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel the issues we had were very minor. The friendly staff more than makes up for minor annoyances. Great service Great price Great breakfast
Hotel was perfect for what we needed. Hotel was clean, people were nice. The fitness room was not as good as expected but everything else was great. Pool was clean and felt wonderful. Breakfast was excellent.
Upon check-in no luggage carts nor aid with bags. 1room had smell of dampness so I moved to another room since I am allergic to mold. (no assistance a available to help with move). 2nd room had an awful funky odor - maid came to spray room and let me know I was in a room that they normally give to those with pets. Hotel was booked so I was stuck. Bed was made daily, no one swept floor or cleaned sink or counter as I saw the same crumbs each day. Only benefit at this place is the location to the coliseum and they provide a decent breakfast.
When we arrived we found three was no restaurant as stated on the website, we had a very small dog, our first room was.awful, dirty , musty, they put us in another room, same condition, 3rd room was ok
We've stayed in many hotels in the past tree years and this was one of the best. It was clean, freshly remodeled, and accommodating. The made to order omelets for breakfast were over the top! The location was centrally located for our needs. And the price was fantastic. Would definitely stay again.
We arrived very late at night and were met with a warm welcome by the Reception staff. The room had a leak from the cooling unit but then we were moved to another great room very quickly. Breakfast and the overall staff were so accommodating and made sure that we were comfortable, found everything we needed, and were okay. I loved the warm welcome and the genuine hospitality. The hotel itself is great! We were there to present our athletes to Wake Forest and the hotel allowed us to come back after the football heats to have our athletes shower before we hit the road to come home! I loved our stay at this hotel.
Enjoyed my brief stay at this location, experiencing clean facility with great staff. The breakfast was excellent with all the normal amenities and made to order omelettes. Check-In and Check-Out was quick and efficient.
Painting in hallways was chipped and flaking off. Exit doors lacked lock in one case and exit door crash bars were not functioning properly. Bathroom is extremely small and difficult to use toilet and shower. Furniture is spartan.
The breakfast was the best part, from freshly made omelets, fresh fruits, and more was very nice that morning. Hotel is great, rooms were large and clean, staff was friendly and helpful. I liked the little gift bag they had for me.
I haven't stayed in a BW in years. I had death in my family and the hotel was recommended. The breakfast was AMAZING. Staff was courteous. Fitness room was larger than normal. And a free party that night.
This breakfast buffet belongs at a high-end brunch ... Linda (she operates the breakfast Buffett) had everything well stocked, clean and was very friendly to talk to! Make your own omelettes, two kinds of Belgian Waffles... biscuits and gravy... make your own yogurt/granola... it was just WOW! They also have a bar open 5p-12MN which has drinks along with food (meatballs, spinach & artichoke dip)... rooms were clean and quiet (all you could ask for.. but the breakfast buffet and the bar made Best Western One stand out)
I stayed at this location as part of a wedding party. The hotel was very clean. Also the snacks in the lobby and breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful during my stay. Great service! I would recommend this location.
Stayed 5 nights. Quiet clean hotel near WFU. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Included breakfast was well above average of other hotel free breakfasts. A few decent restaurants are within a short walk. Quite comfortable room. Would stay here again.
I had a terrible accident while staying at the Winston Salem location. The floor in our room was soaking wet due to an issue with the air condiotioning unit, and i slipped and busted my mouth on the vanity counter. I had to get stitches in my lip, and I knocked my front tooth out. The GM was notified immediately, but not only did he fail to fill out an incident report, but he refused to speak with me at all. He only spoke to my boyfriend, never bothered to ask how I was, and showed a complete lack of compassion. He comped 1 night stay for the day I left, and my boyfriend was there alone, and stated that was all he could do. I am left with thousands of dollars in medical bills, im out of work, and need to have surgery to fix my teeth so i can eat. Not to mention the cosmetic damage and scarring. Rather than file an insurance claim, I was told by Corporate that I need to sue them if I want my medical bills compensated! They probably dont even have insurance. This can happen to you! Bewarned!! He also refused to provide me with his name or the owner of the property's name. I have never witnessed such a disregard for the welfare of customers, and customer service by a business in my life!
The hotel looks like it has been recently renovated and the rooms are modern and big. however, you can hear a lot of noise from the outside. my room was close to the elevator and i could hear everytime the elevator was being used, noise from the outside and the hallways. The gym is really nice and fully equipped. Breakfast is great and complementary. Lots of options and you even get a cook that's making omelettes. You also get some free drinks and cookies in the lobby.
This was our first visit to this hotel/area. All the employees were welcoming and friendly. We appreciated that they offered a wide variety of breakfast options in a large eating area. If we are in this area again we will definitely choose this hotel.
Problem with our Hotwire prepaid reservation and we were asked to wait as several others were checked in! It was 9 pm and we hadn't eaten dinner yet, so we let the clerk know we needed to eat. She took our info and said she would call us, but we had to call her and had to pay again for the stay. We still haven't been reimbursed!!
We spent one night here, the staff was very pleasant, our room was very clean. We were over looking the pool and did have loud neighbors. Not sure if the room location would be good if you're a light sleeper.
Clean rooms, great staff,, BEST FULL HOT BREAKFAST EVER. Very conveniently located to events in Winston-salem. The temperature control system was a little loud and,, as I am a light sleeper, woke me up.. but , over all, will stay again
The only complaints I had was the water didnt get hot enough and the tub didnt want to drain out... But otherwise service and room was great!!!Would definally stay again if im back up that way! Good Job
After working all day, taking the red eye flight and driving 2 hours to get here, I was hoping to be able to check in early and not only was my room ready, they even knew who I was before I checked in. What a perfect welcome. It makes sense to be a Best Western rewards member, as you get a few extras. The breakfast includes freshly made omelets, perfect way to start your day. Everyone here was friendly and helpful and knew this town well (and patiently answered all my questions, even google some answers). The beds are comfy and the room is a good size. The bathroom is a little small (when shutting the door) and the shower is slightly slippery when first stepping into it. The front desk made this stay, they are friendly and helpful from the minute you come in! Great place to stay for a great price. Close to downtown, must check out-Reboot downtown (retro arcade/bar), and the art district, and Bookmark, the non-profit bookstore. Loved eating at Yamas for delicious Mediterranean food, Craft for amazing tacos.
Upon arriving our front desk clerk was very nice, efficient and helpful. Our room was clean and had all that we needed. And the complimentary breakfast was delicious, hot, and well stocked. The lady (Linda) that worked in the breakfast area was very pleasant and helpful, I would have to say it was the kindness of the people that made our stay the most enjoyable! Thank you!
The room itself was fine, clean, spacious. But the entire experience was ruined by an obnoxious heating unit. The first night it blew cold air for a lengthy time before warming up, but by morning only cold air was coming out. Plus, it blew so forcefully over our beds that it was actually painful. We reported these problems. They fixed it enough that warm air came out again (although again only after a period of cold air), but the forcefulness of the air flow remained like a blast over the beds, and was really immiserating. We were gone until late each night with relatives in the circumstance of a funeral, so we were just exhausted and just wanted to sleep. The heating unit was not conducive to a good night's sleep, with its blast force and periods of cold air.
Very friendly staff at this location, quick check in too. Right across from the Wake Forest basketball staudim...definitely can walk. Breakfast was great...good variety too! Had a strange smell in the room, but the front desk genuinely cared and even offered a small credit for the inconvenience. Unexpected, but much appreciated! Rooms aren't huge, but the beds are comfortable. Small bathrooms, but great water pressure.
The beds were very comfortable, breakfast was good! It appears to be a motel that has been and is being renovated. Was a bit disappointed with the fact that the window in the room did not have a lock on it leaving the room unsecure.
The thing that impressed me the most was the friendliness of all the staff. They greet you with a smile . We talked and laughed with some of them. We truly felt welcomed. The rooms were nice and clean . The price is reasonable .
The customer service at this facility was flat out amazing. The breakfast was fantastic! I was blown away by every associate we came in contact with. You could absolutely get the feeling they truly enjoyed their job and found great pleasure in making our stay memorable. Big kudos to the staff at this facility. They were amazing!
I had a wonderful stay at this Best Western location. The decor is very thoughtful, clean, and modern yet comfortable. Every single staff member I encountered was so generous, helpful, and kind. The room was very comfy, clean, and quiet. I had a nice meal at the Mexican restaurant directly next door...overall, extremely restful stay.
We absolutely love staying at the Best Western Plus near the college! The staff are absolutely amazing are more then willing to help with anything you may need. The breakfast is one of the main reasons we stay here as well.
Comfortable, Convenient and enjoyable. Employees were polite and helpful the breakfast was delicious. It was easy to check in and out and we had no problems or complaints at all. We will be returning for future stays.
What a surprise this hotel was! From the moment we walked in the door until we left the next day, we were met with the nicest and happiest staff that I've ever encountered. They went out of their way to help us and cheerfully provided anything that we needed. There were so many extras: free cookies and drinks in the lobby, and an unbelievable breakfast that not only had a wide variety of foods to choose from, but they also had a cook ready to make fabulous omelets with the ingredients of your choice! I would definitely go back again!
Stayed in the whirlpool king room. Whirlpool was huge and everything was clean. Everything worked as it was suppose to and all staff was extremely friendly. Only complaint which is very minor, is that the elevator was duck taped together which made me a bit uneasy so I took the stairs but otherwise everything was fine.
This property was very hospitable from check in to check out. The staff was exceptional. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would have liked a better selection of TV stations but it was acceptable. I do not understand why hotels do not carry the Netflix service for those of us who subscribe to it. Breakfast was good and the presentation was immaculate!
They say you'll meet some of the nicest people down south. The staff at this Best Western PLUS in Winston Salem NJ, was beyond my expectation. Every one of them, from check in to check out served with excellence. Even one of the elderly cleaning ladies was a warm warm soul. But one person I must commend for her services, is lovely Linda. The way she bent over backwards to cater to my friends and I during our complimentary breakfast, can't be put into words, her actions says it all. We actually all had run to catch the last few minutes before breakfast was over, as usual.. Linda showed no sense of urgency to wrap things up, on the contrary, she insisted on bringing more food out to make sure we all had a plate full and enough for seconds! She even made my friend waffles, we all no the mess he would have made if she hadn't came to the rescue lol. Linda is an amazing woman, whom I will be forever be grateful for her hospitality and presence at the Best Western PLUS. Please recognize her for her outstanding work, I'm sure we aren't the only ones who have.
This is a good hotel with easy access to downtown or to the businesses on University Parkway. The hotel looks like it had recently been remolded. The staff were very friendly and very helpful, and really went out of there way to make me feel welcome. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the breakfast was pleasant.
Freida Mitchell went beyond her call of duty to ensure my group was taken care of. Her exceptional customer service and vibrant personality made the group reservation process seamless! This hotel is perfect for groups and conferences as it centrally located close to everything. Also, it's very comfortable, clean, and breakfast is AMAZING! Lastly, I am so thankful for Frieda's hard work as well as the amazing front desk staff! I can't wait to come back again! So what are you waiting for? Book your reservation to Best Western Plus University Inn at Winston-Salem!
Great stay, Very comfortable and clean, newly refurbished room on ground floor. Plenty of towels and hot water. Refrigerator and kitchen counter and sink in room for snacks. Good breakfast, including eggs and meat, waffles, cereal, yogurt, and coffee, Only problem was because of everyone going to the same conference the items ran out frequently.
Breakfast is pretty good. They have a small bar which I find very convenient. I had a few problems I don't expect most people to have. Such as the battery in my lock was dead and it took a couple days for them to get it fixed.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was great and so was the breakfast. Ms. Griffin was exceptional. She made sure we had everything that we need and made sure the room was comfortable. We will be staying again.
I am an avid Billy Joel Fan and I will travel 15 hours by car to see him. I live 8 hours from Winston Salem NC and he had a concert there and I went. I booked a hotel that was extremely close to the were the concert was. I read a bunch of reviews and it seemed they had recently renovated so I figured it would be OK. The price was not to bad. When I arrived a few hours before the concert the place was filled with people. There was a line to check in. Everyone checking in were all going to the concert. I was greeted by the General Manager who apologized to me for the long line. He took my name and offered me a coupe of free drinks at the bar while I waited. I was very happy to take him up on his offer. It took about 45 minutes for me to get my room. I asked why the long wait and he was very sincere and said he had several staff call off so they were running behind on cleaning rooms. He said that 100 people all showed up around the same time as me to check in. He apologized again and asked me if there was anything he can do for me. I can understand how much pressure he was under but I felt he did the right thing by getting me a couple of drinks and giving me an honest answer. The hotel itself was extremely nice and well done. The lobby was big and the lounge was great. The Bartender was super nice. My room had two queen beds in it and was very clean. The bathroom was well lit and also very clean. The Mattress was very comfortable. I did have time to grab breakfast in the morning and it was great. A lot of choices and the lady who's name is Linda took great care of everyone. It was busy with all the same people from the night before but I had no trouble getting what ever I wanted. I would stay at this hotel again.
I found this Hotel at the last minute as I had a rescheduled meeting due to Hurricane Florence. It was a very pleasant experience for 3 days. The room was comfortable and clean and the onsite bar was just what i needed for relaxation and baseball. The front desk staff was welcoming and knowledgeable and gave excellent directions to my meeting location. I highly recommend Putters or the Mexican restaurant just next door, walking distance. Breakfast was also a wonderful treat. Even during the sold out weekend, the staff definitely earned my return trip next month!
I usually stay at the Marriott when visiting Wake Forest. I decided to give the Best Western a chance on my recent stay as it was slightly less expensive. I must say that I was very impressed from beginning to end. I was told by a colleague that the hotel has gone through a big renovation and everything was brand new. It was a great decision. I was checked in quickly and the desk clerk was friendly. My room was large and clean, and mattress was fantastic. They had a small bar/lounge to grab a drink and a free breakfast in the morning. I would definitely recommend checking it out if needing to be in Winston-Salem. This will be my new go-to!
Came to Winston Salem to see Billy Joel. The hotel was walking distance to the concert. They just renovated the property and it looked amazing. When I arrived to check in the lobby was filled with people. I had to wait a long time to check in. They did not have rooms ready. The general Manager was in the lobby talking to guests and he came over to me and offered to buy me a drink while I waited. I took him up on the offer. After I had my beer he came over to me and said my room was ready. I booked a non smoking king room and that's what I got. The room was very large and everything was new. All the staff I interacted with were super friendly and kept apologizing for my wait. I guess everyone arrived at the same time for the concert. Even with my wait I would stay here again.
We are in the process of moving and stayed here with our pets. We were towing a trailer and pleased to find ample - and we felt safe overnight parking. The hotel is in the process of being upgraded but were not inconvenienced by it. The staff is very pleasant and our stay was great!
I stayed at this property with my family during Hurricane Florence as we had to evacuate from Myrtle Beach. Andrew the General Manager without hesitation helped us out. His front desk greeted us with smiles which was nice to see after driving 4 hours with pets and being worried about what we were leaving behind. They recommended some wonderful spots to eat that were kid friendly. Andrew along with the Sales Manager were getting prepared to make all evacuees feel like they were at home. They were doing a managers reception and a kids movie in their meeting room. How cool is that! The rooms were clean and all lobby areas were spotless. This is a wonderful property to stay at. Kudos to Andrew and all of his staff. Job Well Done!
Rooms are very clean. Extraordinary customer service. The room service was great. If you forget anything they will accommodate your needs. Atmosphere very quiet. Ask to be room not near an elevator. This is a great place to stay.
Very satisfied with this hotel. Was clean and looked recently updated. The rooms are small (room 201, whirlpool suite), but the price reflects this. The pool and outer courtyard were very nice. Will always stay here when in the area.
Hotel is excellent! Very clean, everything looked brand new, no yucky smells, lobby and outside area were lovely. Breakfast is included and it's pet friendly. Beds were also very comfortable ?? Great stay!
all staff where helpful and friendly. room was nice and clean. breakfast was good. nice pool area. over all liked my time here. great soul food resteraunt near by. one of the nicer B.W.ern experiances iv'e had recently.
I absolutely will never stay at this hotel again. The renovation work is incomplete, the staff are far from professional, everything just seems thrown together. We could smell cigarette and marijuana smoke in the hallway. I had my young son with me while we were attending the WFU football game and I was afraid to let him go to the vending machine alone. There were very "shady looking characters' staying there. When I mentioned my concern to the young lady at the front desk, I was told that they can't stop people from staying there as long as they were paying. So apparently, they are fine with what seemed like illegal activity that goes on there. I could go on forever but these were some of my bigger concerns. The list would be entirely too long if I mentioned the condition of the rooms and the service received. Again, an absolutely horrible place to stay.
Construction next to roomNo working phoneOther guests banging on doorLocated near CollegeThis is acceptable hotel if you have no where else to go. My wife was unhappy with experience.I did not love the stay but is was tolerable.Would not recommend for leisure
The whole team was awesome but one really stands out.... The operations manager! She has always been very nice and polite. I have known her from the time she has worked the front desk and then promoted to head of housekeeping and now operations manager. She has always been very nice, polite and willing to try to accommodate. She has deserved these promotions and more. She is a keeper!!
The hotel had several spots throughout the hotel that was dripping water from the ceiling. My bathroom had a bad odor that I had to go and buy bleach and other cleaning supplies. The entrance/exit door on the side my room was on ( first floor back side entrance) had mold all around the door way from constant water dripping down . The hallways was very hot and humid .
I have stayed at this hotel two times before moving into my college nearby. Tonight while I was laying in the bed I look over and see nasty dried blood ON THE SHEETS. This hotel is fine otherwise but that really really grossed me out and made me never want to stay here again.
Best Western Plus University Inn is newly remodeled and very clean. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel especially our room. It looked like everything was brand new . The bed and pillows were very comfortable. My husband and I loved the complimentary breakfasts before we set out on the road for 12 hours. l highly recommend this hotel. Staff was very friendly and we would stay here again.
My 5 nights at this hotel did come with ups and downs. Customer service exceeded my expectations until the day of checkout. Sasha, who is the hotel housekeeping supervisor, banged on my door at 11:45am demanding that I be out by 12:00pm or she would come into my room and pack my things and physically kick me out. All of this happened after I was approved for a late checkout at 1:00pm. She acknowledged the request that I made that morning but said it was a miscommunication with the front desk staff and I had 15 mins to get out. I told her I will try my best and I did. It was not humanly possible to pack myself and my two children's belongings and be out of that room in 15 mins. At 12:00pm, she banged on my door and came into my room, grabbed my things and shoved them into our suictcases. I had wet towels from the pool and bathing suits thrown in with dry and clean clothes, she almost destroyed my clothes that were supposed to be hung and carried. All of my shoes were shoved into one suitcase with our electronic devices and things were scattered everywhere. I was in shock. I've never been treated like that before ever. She behaved this way in front of my 8 year old son. He was scared and frightened from her behavior and her threats.
After reading some of the older reviews, you can tell that this hotel has gone a long way in the past couple of years. We had an overall good experience, and we would stay here again, although this probably wouldn't be our first choice in the area. Here's a summary of our stay: PROS - Great location. Across the street from the Lawrence Joel Memorial Colisseum and very close to WFU. - Great staff!!! Everybody was very friendly and helpful. - The hotel has just been remodeled. Everything is brand new, including the bathrooms. - Our room was very clean. - Great fitness center! Two treadmills, a stationary bike, an elliptical, plenty of free weights and a couple of weight machines. CONS - The walls are paper thin. We could clearly hear what people were saying on the hallway from bed. We also heard the neighbor's TV and every time they flused. - The remodel felt very rushed. Our bathroom door didn't even latch so we couldn't lock it. Popcorn walls and ceilings, chipped doors... Nothing terrible, but it felt more like a 2 star than like a 2.5 star. - Not many healthy options for breakfast. All the meat was pork (no turkey options). They had eggs but they had a ton of cheese. They had yogurt, but the super sugary stuff. They didn't even had oatmeal. - No hair dryer or microwave in the room. Overall, an adequate place to spend a couple of nights. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be impressed either.
Enjoyed a real breakfast every morning and staff was very nice. Beds were comfortable, but needed more than just sheets that they have. Nice bathroom and very good breakfast. The pool only has ladders in, no stairs. Elevator in front is slow and very small. The elevator in the back down the hall is bigger.
We had an amazing stay at this hotel. It is only 1 minute from Wake Forest University. Beds were very comfortable and staff was very nice and professional. We were skeptical because the price was so low and we usually don't stay at hotels like this, but were very impressed and would stay here again in an instant. The free breakfast was great, and I would like to give a special shoutout to the lady who worked in the breakfast area on the morning of July 19. She is the type of employee that I would want at my business. She made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel at home. She went above and beyond to make our stay great. Overall, this is a great hotel and I will be staying here next time I visit Wake Forest.
My family and I recently stayed at the newly renovated Best Western Hotel and Spa. We were skeptical about booking our stay due to negative reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was very professional and friendly. We recommend this hotel to anyone in the area and we plan to stay again in the future.
Would stay in my vehicle before staying here again, had a dispute over a room charge, the manager never would return my calls or messages to resolve the issue. They had problems with checking in and out. When we checked out They were having computer problems so many guests were asked to write their email address on a list to receive their checkout papers , I didn't get an email until numerous calls and it wasn't for the 2 night's we stayed , it was for the disputed amount. I was told when o cancelled a room that it was cancelled, didn't receive an email confirmation because they had the email address wrong which I didn't find out until I called to dispute the room charge on my credit card. VERY unprofessional.
We stayed here 1 night on our summer college tour of the Southeast. Out of the 5 hotels we stayed in on this trip (4 of which were Best Western), this was our favorite. All the staff members were very friendly and our room on the 4th floor was totally renovated. The location was close to Wake Forest University. I would recommend this hotel.
When I stayed the hotel was being transitioned to be a Best Western, so I had some difficulties locating the hotel due to name change/ sign change, but it does have a great location for travelers. A restaurant will soon be available at the hotel but it is convenient to many restaurants and things to do around Winston-Salem. The staff was great and helpful. It also had a great parking lot that was easily accessible with ample parking for trailers/campers. The rooms were recently remodeled and fairly clean.
Seriously couldn't ask for friendlier & more helpful people. Also the room was clean, beds comfy, best pillows ever & beautiful pool area. Breakfast had a huge variety, plenty of seating & food was very good!
This is a Best Western in transition and it was a delight to stay and see how it is being transformed. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was spacious and quiet, and I particularly liked the displayed art work in the room and the hallways which were unique and interesting. The hotel is centerally located and easy to navigate to downtown Winston-Salem. I would stay again and be eager to see its final transformation.
Perfect hotel for Wake Forest Graduation. A year ago I booked this hotel for my sons graduation even though the reviews were not good and they were under construction. I was hopeful that all would improve by 5/19 and it did. The lobby is complete and beautiful. My room was new and beds were very comfortable ( my back did not hurt and i need the brand of the mattress) there were some issues with the machine cutting the keys which is going to be replaced but the staff is so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and lots of options. The dining area is clean and big. The best part was the convenience to Wake Forest less than mile to the school It is great to be so close as you will be going back and forth a number of times during graduation weekend.
Under a big renovation. No one told me this when I made my reservation. We had to be moved to a different room and still problems with the 2nd room. The next day at check out we were told we would get a discount because of the problems and they would email our receipt. Never got an email. Didn't see a charge on my debit card so I checked my credit card that was used to hold the room and it was charged. I had asked for my credit card not to be charged and gave them my debit card. SO..I had a bad room, no discount and the wrong card charged with no receipt.
This hotel is being renovated room by room as it transits into the Best Western Brand. Our room was renovated. Clean, new and bright, as was our friends staying next door. We were greeted by wonderful staff. Theressa checked us in and Chantel learnt as it was her first day. They were helpful and polite. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The beds were really comfortable, the TV large. I would have given five stars except the lobby isn't finished yet! I would stay here again.
It's difficult to evaluate this place as there's a massive renovation ongoing. I checked in and got to the room only to discover that the lock was missing (in other words, you didn't need a key to enter). There was a microwave on the floor in the middle of the room for no apparent reason. There's plaster and other materials everywhere. Look, I get that the hotel is trying to stay open while doing this, but failing to disclose this to paying customers ahead of time is a breach of public trust. I'm sure the hotel's GM will place the same "form letter" response to this as has been done with the other poor reviews, but the biggest issue here isn't whether this will be nice after construction has been completed. Instead, it's you NEED to let people know what the deal is BEFORE you book.
