    « Another excellent experience »

Friendly helpful staff. Excellent clean and tidy room (room 27), room had a sofa but the dressing table had lots of space and plugs for computer, printer etc Have stayed in 28 and 16, they have desk, not sofas. Comfortable bed and two good nights sleep. Breakfast buffet/cooked, reliable and tasty as ever. Toaster on the correct setting for perfect toast. Dinner in the restaurant was very good too, there is a bar menu if you prefer

    « Disappointing »

Arrived Friday lunchtime only to be told no TV available in rooms. By Saturday evening we had missed the royal wedding and cup final. Bathrooms are tired and need updating. Poor insulation in rooms, voices heard through walls

    « Totally unprofessional »

I stay in a hotels around 40 weeks of the year for work. I always stay with Best Western because i usually don't have to worry about the standard of the room or the services provided. I very rarely write reviews as I like to thank the hotel staff personally for their service as having worked my way through university as a hotel waiter, porter and night manager I know the hard work the staff put in. I have just started a 3 month contract in Tiverton, having just finished a 3 month contract in Liverpool (BW Richmond hotel Liverpool is amazing) and a 12 month contract in Crewe (Railway Hotel in Crewe staff are amazing). I assumed I would get the same professiona,l courteous service from BW Tiverton. I booked direct with the hotel by phone as Booking.com had a rate cheaper than that on BW's website. BW guarantee to beat any price on the web. I was told they would match the rate booking.com were offering. I was then offered a corporate rate, cheaper than the standard rate as I would be booking for 3 months. So far so good. I drove for 5 hours to get there on Sunday hoping to have a nice Sunday lunch , a couple of glasses of wine and an early night to be ready to start my new job on Monday morning. I arrived at 4pm, and was pleased to see a large banner on the front of the hotel advertising their Sunday lunch. I checked in and asked if I could book a Sunday lunch. I was told lunch finished at 12:30 and there would be no cooked food until 6:45. I subsequently found out they didn't do Sunday lunch if there are not enough guests staying at the hotel. Room was fine, clean, with nice views over the playing fields and stream. Checked out this morning and was over charged for the room. When I challenged the bill I was basically treated as if I was some sort of criminal because their member of staff had not made a note on their system of their agreement to honour the booking.com rate. I was told I would be called by the person who agreed the rate today and a refund would be offered. I never received any call from them. For the sake of £20 they have now lost around £2,500 worth of business. As I won't be staying here again. Yes it's the silly summer season and they will be booked out solid but usually my contracts are extended so they will loose another £3,000 in the winter. Trust and customer service are essential. Sadly I got neither here

« Lovely last minute stay »

Very nice room, booked at the last minute so only a suite was left. Very clean and the staff are helpful and polite. Was visiting family who lived very close by so the hotel was perfectly situated for me but only a 10 minute walk from the town centre. FYI BEST shower experience I've ever had!

    « Spring Breaki »

Really super Hotel, nice rooms kept in wonderful and clean condition, great parking especially the rear car park, and first class food and restaurant service all reasonably priced. We have stayed several times at this Hotel and enjoyed our every visit

« The new chef is amazing, we had a really delicious evening meal in the Gallery Restaurant. A real treat. »

I stay here several times a year and as usual the rooms are well kept and comfortable. They are well and thoughtfully furnished. I always feel welcome here as all the staff are really helpful and friendly. The car parking is conveniently close, which is a consideration if mobility is a problem. The garden beds are well kept and it is possible to sit outside.

« Great place to stay in Devon »

You will get a warm welcome and very good service at this hotel, food if very well cooked and presented by friendly staff. A great central place to stay within easy reach of north and south Devon coast. Lots for interesting place to visit near by.

« Friendly, Efficient, Comfortable Hotel with Excellent Food »

Our group of forty-one stayed for a weekend conference, although a number of us arrived early to have a longer stay. Our reception was very warm and friendly. We couldn't have wished for more. This hotel is not old enough to qualify as quaint. I had no reason to check as to the language ability of the staff but as there were one or more members of staff who were not British, then I suspect that the hotel could qualify as 'multilingual'. There was a large common room, although I never saw any children present. I believe that all the rooms are at the rear of the hotel, affording views over a stream and playing field and giving a peaceful environment.

    « Terrible customer service - avoid! »

Unless you are a corporate customer I would absolutely avoid this hotel as that seems to be the only custom the management truly care about. The worst customer service I have ever received from a manager - really rude & left me feeling not only undervalued but actually insulted. Quite honestly I am sad I've wasted any of my money at an establishment that employs people that should be no where near the hospitality industry. I will never come here again & I would urge anyone considering visiting here to think again!

    « OK »

Short visit to attend a family event. Good location, quiet area but easy access to the town and transport links. Not the most attractive building from the outside but interior is ok. Welcoming staff on reception. Rooms a decent size and fairly well equipped (tv very small and poor quality though) and bed comfy. Decent bathroom with bath and shower over. Premium room also had a large desk. Cleaning appears ok although the bottle of water on our hospitality tray was empty so had not been replaced. Booked a rate including breakfast which was pretty standard buffet fare. Coffee is brought to the table in silly-sized pots (we needed 3 refills), and I waited 20 minutes for a fried egg - wasn't in a hurry so no big deal, but way too slow really. Bar is good, and very well run by Eddie who was great and food there looked ok although we didn't try any. Not sure why the car park measures are so draconian- can't imagine it would be used by others much. Just make sure you register at reception- it's not difficult and there are reminders everywhere.

    « Christmas party »

We held our staff christmas party here. My husband was fined £100 for being in the car park for 5 minutes too long. We begged the manager to help us sort it out (which I now know he was able to do should he choose to) and he said that guests need to take some responsibility. I felt terribly let down and would never visit there again, nor will my colleagues and friends.

« Accommodating in every sense! »

We were forced to rearrange our visit to the hotel when the unseasonable snowy weather arrived in the middle of March and we were unable to visit an elderly relative as planned. The hotel could not have been more helpful in allowing us to transfer our original booking to a later date without penalty. Our bedroom was spacious and very well appointed and comfortable and the buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful. We will certainly use this hotel again next time we visit the area.

« Flying the flag in poll position for best western! »

First time I stayed here and wow the staff are friendly very helpful and they know how the loyalty reward scheme works! Which is excellent..! I have stayed in many best westerns and everyone apart from the tiverton you have to ask if a room upgrade is possible. But here they are fully trained on the different tiers and are extremely friendly happy staff.. The room was surperb and the food was delicious and came very quick without room service making u feel as though it is effort for the staff.. Highly recommend this hotel!

It may be slightly dated but the rooms are a good size, mine had the stream running behind it, the bar is cosy, the breakfast was great and the staff very helpful and friendly, so in all could not ask for more.

    « Needs updating!!! »

Me and my partner stayed here bank holiday weekend for 2 nights. When we pulled up and saw the exterior we didn't hold out much hope. It looked like a 1970s office block. Check in was easy and when we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. We stayed in a superior room on the far side of the hotel and it was fairly quiet. Now for the reality. The rooms need updating the 70s look outside does carry on inside. Both the room and the bathroom needs updating. The mattress on the bed was too soft and became uncomfortable by night 2 and on arrival the heating in the room was on full blast and it felt like a sauna. Now I don't know if it was because a majority of the clientele that weekend were of the older end of the spectrum! We didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the food. The worst part though was the taps. When you turn them they make a horrific noise and we were woken up by this coming from.other rooms too. We didn't pay a massive amount for this hotel but if we had paid anymore I would have been a bit more scathing with my review!

    « Sunday Carvery treat »

Braving the snowy roads we recently arrived at the hotel for our per booked carvery lunch. First things first, ensure you book your car registration details into the screen at reception! We found all the staff very pleasant and efficient. Choices of drinks delivered to our table from the bar were varied including excellent real ales. Our carvery comprised choices of three meats freshly served by the chef and our own selection of vegetables to add to our plates. We had an excellent sized portion for less than £10. Will we visit again? most certainly.

    « Best Western Tiverton »

Only stayed for one night, but had an enjoyable stay, check in was quick and the room was pleasantly large with all the amenities that I required. WiFi was good. We eat in the bar and the prices were fair and food quality was great. We will stay at the Best Western Tiverton again.

    « Great Value - Friendly staff »

Stayed with a family group, the room was fine and clean - bathroom a little dated but fine otherwise. Hotel staff are honestly some of the friendliest I've come across - happy to order cab's, happy to see if the kitchen would open a little early to do a slightly early dinner (by 15 mins). Great location - able to walk to the town or canal. I do however recommend booking directly on the Best Western site - we did, but other family members didn't. We all paid the same but we had our breakfast included, others didn't and had to pay extra. All in all though - I'd happily stay there again.

    « Fantastic location - attentive staff »

Easy to find hotel with ample parking on the edge of Tiverton. Sure it's a bit old fashioned in a 70's kind of way but the retro aspect seemed to suit the activities going on during the weekend we stayed. Plentiful staff at breakfast who coped well with some difficult guests. Management in evidence both days checking smooth running. Executive room was very spacious and comfortable and quiet. Stay here again? Sure. Well done Rhys and team.

    « BRILLIANT STAY »

We arrived in Tiverton on the night of the big freeze and had booked an Airbnb. However, the pipes had frozen and we had to find alternative accommodation. And we were really pleased we did. We were a party of twelve - our rooms were really good, staff at the bar and on reception all delightful. We ordered sandwiches in the afternoon which were really good, and twelve of us ate in the restaurant on our last night. The quality of food and price was exceptional. Breakfast on our last morning was an omelette and smoked haddock and both perfect. Altogether, in terms of value for money, staff, location, bedroom sizes, and food - a great stay. Thank you all.

    « Very pleasant... »

Stayed here for a night on business and had a great nights sleep. The night porter on my arrival was superb. I arrived in the early hours and was struggling to park my vehicle as it was busy. He came running out, welcomed me by name and told me to park in one of the many empty disabled bays. Thank you. My Room was big, clean, tidy and very nice. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the noise from other rooms and corridors, taps running/doors closing etc. But hey, I still slept great and would stay again.

    « Badly organized »

My friend and I called in for morning coffee having seen adverts locally for coffee and cake. Firstly we had to log in our car registrations at Reception.Having been shown to a table we sat for ages before a manager spotted us and asked us if we had been served. The coffee on offer was a filter coffee in a pot that looked like it was left over from breakfast. A decaf latte( I am caffeine intolerant) was £1 extra. When we asked what cakes were available we were informed they hadn't baked any yet!( 1130am), but we could have a pudding! The waitress brought one coffee and then we had a 5 minute wait before the other arrived. The staff did not seem to be bothered at all. Won't be going again There are several coffee shops in town with better coffee and far better service.

« Clive at the Best Western Hotel Tiverton »

Having seen the ad in a local paper which showed that this hotel was participating in the Exmoor Food Fest lunch offer - two courses for £10 or three courses for £15 per person, we booked a table. Living locally, we know the Tiverton Hotel well and every time we visit it is hosting some large gathering of people. This time it was the Round Table. The hotel is approx half a mile from the centre of Tiverton and has generous car parking areas. Pre drinks at the bar and then into the dining room which was very attractively decorated and welcoming. Clearly, the Food Fest was not a major attraction on this day as we were the only diners until just before we left. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and agreed it was good value. Limited number of options available for this special menu but the tomato and basil soup, fish pie and belly pork all came piping hot and all plates were cleared. Two continued to the puddings and shared a chocolate and date sponge with a mountain of cream. Charming young lady looked after us but obviously some problems with the first bill maths which was about £30 too much - quickly spotted by my eagle-eyed wife and rectified. Quiet, refined and very enjoyable.

« Freebie from Macdonalds but worth it! »

Even though our son won this with McDonalds Monopoly he treated us for the 2 night stay. Originally we want October but fully booked but what cpuld be better than a free weekend away for Valentines. The room is clean with a view of the river and the ducks. Quack Quack! We ate both nights in the restaurant and the food was plentiful and excellent. The Duck on the Valentines meal was fantastic and perfectly cooked. Breakfast is a standard buffet but the food again was perfectly cooked, when some hotels don't pay attention to breakfast but here they do. The staff are always polite and even the trainees had already been brought to a good standard. Excellent place and will probably come back as a full paying guest. Thank you for making it an excellent weekend.

    « Disappointed »

We came here for lunch two weeks ago mid week had a really nice meal so decided to return for Sunday carvery today. Sadly it was very disappointing to say the least. The vegetables were plentiful but the containers they were in were not suitable to keep them hot; not a substantial system to service such a large quantity of vegetable ( four candle burners under each dishes). . Most of the vegetables were very soft and luke warm. The meat was succulent but once again warm accompanied by salty gravy. I did raise this issue with the member of staff who said she would inform the chef!!!!! Nothing became of this! This is such a shame as the staff were extremely helpful but nothing became of raising my concern about Luke warm food. This raises the question whether to return on a Sunday lunchtime again.

« Came to my Rescue »

After finding the M5 closed due to an accident i booked into here. A last minute booking cost me £40.60 without food but they did have a free parking area for their guests. Hotel was immaculately clean the staff were very welcoming and once in my spacious room i didn't hear any noise other than the TV set

    « overnight stay »

we stayed overnight with our dogs in late January - the room was great, a nice little welcome package for the dogs, food good in restaurant in the evening, and breakfast the following day also excellent. . would stay again without hesitation. Thanks.

    « Ghastly! »

Went to a business meeting for coffee and came away with a £60 parking fine. Best Western showed no interest and hotel management stated they had no control over the parking company they employ!. Hence appealing the fine would be a waste of time and result in £100 fine. Complete rip off. Also gives a clue into the brand value (or lack of it) Best Western place on their brand. My advice go elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!

    5
« Great staff good hotel »

Stayed for two nights. Arrived very late on first night due to fog. No issues night porter was excellent. Day staff continued that trend. Room was large, very clean and comfortable. The only observation is the tv could be bigger. But that's just me. Hotel was well located. Enjoyed my stay very much. Thanks to the staff.

    « Good business hotel »

Stayed a couple of nights, very impressed all round with the rooms and staff were very friendly. Hotel was clean and warm in a bitter few days, I didn't use other facilities other than the bar and restaurant but both I would recommend.

« You know it's been a great night when your feet are still burning the morning after!....... »

....and mine still are! A group is friends and I stayed at the Tiverton Hotel on New Years Eve for their masquerade party. It was excellent from start to finish. The rooms are well equipped - bath robes, tooth brush as well as all the usual bits. The staff were friendly and helpful And the party was amazing. Fabulous buffet - one of the best I've seen in a long time - including fresh lobster, king prawns, salmon. Large cold meat selection and lots of salad choices. And then roast beef and Yorkshire pudding!!! Amazing desert selection and local cheeseboard all made for a superb feast. Entertainment was great and the disco included all the old time greats. And then haggis neeps tatties and a single malt to start the new year off in style!!! Highly commend Rhys and his team - the night was a huge success and I would highly recommend it. Well done all and thank you for a fab fun night

« Clean but old fashioned and noisy »

I stayed her for 3 nights on business, and initially happy with the room etc. I did find the room noisy after a while, with only old fashioned aluminium single glazed windows that didn't close properly, allowing a lot of ambient noise in, along with a few draughts. I have a meal in the restaurant the first evening, and found the Christmas menu on offer a little limited. I had the goats cheese starter, which could have left a little longer under the grill, and the grilled hake which had been left too long under the grill,.and was dry and tasteless. I generally found the food to be bland and under seasoned. The steak off the bar menu which I had the second night was much better, though not quite cooked to my liking. On the third night I came down for a meal, a little early I will admit at about 5.45, but was told food would not be served until 6.30, whilst all around me people were eating! Residents obviously take second place to the functions etc. The final straw was a very ignorant and noisy neighbour, who deemed it acceptable to have his tv on at high volume at 11pm, when he came in, and when I called through the thin walls asking him to turn it down, just turned it up higher. I realise this not the fault of the hotel, but it was the final straw in a decidedly mediocre stay. I checked out at midnight, deciding to drive the 5 hours home in poor weather rather than stay any longer. I am disappointed that my stay turned out like this, and won't be staying here should I be down in Devon again

« Xmas party with tribute band Al Sheran »

Just wanted to say how excellent everything was last night for our Christmas party, the food was excellent, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent and the venue was excellent. It's not very often places get it correct on every item, but I have to say well done to you guys. Even the deals on the drinks packages were great. Will definitely be back next year, would never have thought to eat here so going to becoming a regular.

    « A very enjoyable stay »

Stopped at this most enjoyable hotel 6th - 10th April, the staff really made are stay a most enjoyable one, especially with there being a large group of us stopping there, for are yearly AGM and social weekend. From the moment I arrived Thursday afternoon to leaving Monday morning the staff were really friendly, polite and nothing was to much trouble for them. The rooms were lovely and clean, and a real pleasure to stop in. Also very Reasonably priced, there was only one thing that I didn't like and that was when I had to leave on the Monday morning. will certainly be back next time I'm visting Devon

« Unfairly Fined £60 for parking at hotel. »

A colleague who had a business meeting at the hotel with a booked conference room, a hotel which she had attended over many years was in a rush and didn't notice that the hotel now charges for parking. It was a genuine oversight and she was there on legitimate business but the hotel insisted she had to pay a £60 fine stating it was now the chains policy to do so. These hotels are independently owned so shame on the owner for such a poor response to a loyal customer.

    4
« Very warming and welcoming hotel »

The rooms and decor was superb, well lite and very comfortable. The restaurant staff could do with more training, and wasn't to happy with the quality of the cooked steak. But overall experience was it's a pleasant stopover for shopping in Taunton and. Exciter and close to the motorway for a speedy trip back home. I would certainly recommend a stop here.

« Surprisingly good with excellent restaurant. »

Finding myself a hotel close enough to exmoor national park where I had business to conduct was not easy and Tiverton transpired to be the most convenient. My expectations were not high having viewed the hotel on.its website, fortunately I misjudged it completely, it is a gem. The hotel itself, whilst being one of its era, 1970s I would think, and a bit dated with regards to decor and furnishing, was in fact very comfortable with helpful staff, large car park and all the requirements for business travel. The nicest surprise was the restaurant. It is a far cry from the usual offerings found at commercial hotels. The menu choice was modern with traditional english dishes elevated to greater heights by the use of locally sourced excellent fresh produce well cooked and presented. There is a good wine list with a reasonable at prices to suit most pockets. The breakfast was also good with light continental to full english available. Everything was fresh and much if the produce again locally sourced. I highly recommend this hotel and its restaurant.

    « Don't judge a book by its cover! »

This hotel looks boring and uninspiring from the front, but is warm and inviting inside. Reception is bright and welcoming and the receptionists are efficient and helpful. Stayed twice in a week. First room, on ground floor at rear. Lovely room overlooking river and fields. Bit noisy with people coming and going but not too bad. Second stay - room upstairs at end of corridor, overlooking coach parking. Nice Room, bathroom ok but needs updating. Very quiet. Not disturbed at all. Dining room very nice. Breakfast is buffet style. Good quality and good choice. And hot! Will definitely stay there again.

    3
« Average - could be so much better »

Smart public areas and lovely large bedrooms. The bed was ridiculously soft/wobbly - like sleeping on a jelly! The bathroom was clean but so dated with a 1980s peach suite and a shower with barely any power. The toilet cistern took an age to refill meaning that if two people used the loo in succession, the second person couldn't flush it for ages. The staff were pleasant and breakfast was good. I would stay again but only on a special offer - it's just not worth the rack rate when the two most important things, the bed and bathroom badly need upgrading.

    « Two excellent evenings »

Lovely peaceful modern hotel. Friendly staff. Clean and airy. Back double room that overlooked sports fields and the rear car park. Clean room and quiet. An excellent nights sleep. Breakfast buffet with cooked and continental. Perfect bacon... scrambled egg not so good Excellent wi-fi. Bar restaurant has a good choice and reasonably priced, huge portions. Beer and wine range good too.

    « 1 night business stay »

Stayed for one night Tuesday 7th November 2017 for business trip in the area. Easy to find from sat nav and visible from road. Arrived about 20:30, no-one on reception. Put car details in to tablet as prompted by signage. Still no-onw but could hear talking in back room. Ended up ringing the bell after being stood there a few minutes and still took them 30 seconds to finish their hushed conversation till someone came out. I was in room 87 which is as far from reception as you can get. Room was very dated but clean, bathroom definately in need of modern refurbishment. Went to bar for a drink and some crisps, again restaurant area in need of modernisation but comfortable. My colleugues ordered food which they both said was nice and arrived in good time. Back in room the bed was comfortable and quiet area so i slept well. Morning shower took a while to get temperature right as it's an old mixer tap which was very finicky, one of those ones where you move a tap 1mm and it goes from freezing to boiling hot. Breakfast was good, but they didnt have any vegetarian sausages in stock so i have hash browns and beans plus some cold buffet items. i had my own coconut milk and the waiter offered to put in the fridge for me which was considerate. All the staff i encountered were friendly and helpful. There was ample parking. A decent stay but at £80 expected better overall quality.

« Spacious and convenient for Mid Devon »

Enjoyed three nights in a superior double which had a very good king-size bed and lots of space. View from first floor was over the stream which flows into the Exe at Tiverton which is ten minutes walk away. Good small town for shops, a cinema, a market and an excellent museum. Very good breakfast and dinner, quietly efficient service and cheerful receptionists.

    « Question about parking »

We entered our registration number as requested and it was accepted. However a friend said we should put the numcer in again until details of our car came up on the screen. Another friend did the same thing and when no details came up we told him to try again. My questionis "did we have to do this?" or was it sufficient to just put the number in once. Would we have got a fine if we had not persevered?. I welcome your reply.

    « Value night »

We were visiting freinds so we decided to find out what the cost would be for a Saturday night stay. The cost for a room with breakfast amounted to £59.95p This is the Best Western winter saver. The room, and the ensuite could be so much better aesthetically if the manager spent £100.00 on materials for a makeover and paid me a days wages to do the work. The biggest let down was the ensuite which was designed i feel for people with disabilities. An electric shower which had minimal power, (like most of them outdated) and that annoying plastic curtain thet sticks to you. The towels were on the brink of see through in places and need bunging out. Not a good advert for any accomodation. The bed was comfy and the room size with its storage and facilities were ample. Overall the accomodation suited us at this price for the nights stay. The breakfast was self serve, just up my street as I luv a big breakfast after a night on the tiles, sausages were very nice. I would be asking for another room if I was paying the full price. We have stayed here before and will stay again.

« Ideal location for exploring »

Very comfortable rooms and good food with a clever new chef. The hotel caters well for conferences and weddings so it does get busy but we had a good weekend stay here - easy to find and a perfect location for the lovely Devon town and beautiful surrounds. Good access to Exeter and beyond. Our room was large, clean and comfortable and Sunday lunch was excellent. It's not the Ritz but it is good value for money. Only complaint was the dismissive, some would say rude, member of the bar staff. Service with a smile please. I didn't let it spoil the weekend.

« Fantastic staff wow menu »

I travel often in many countries and people are always cordial but here the staff are genuinely warm to their guests From the outside the hotel is well kept but not an architectural masterpiece. When you get inside you find a lovely clean comfortable hotel The rooms are large with tea and coffee making and very well kept The bar area is huge in area and in its selection I highly recommend the local ciders. For you in the US cider in Devon has a VERY different meaning The evening menu was shocking in its array of dishes that I would not have associated with a provincial hotel. I had the duck confit with Bombay potatoes which was fantastic. As was the treacle tart So in summary a really great hotel staffed by nice people who make this a very special place to stay If you need to stay near Tiverton stay here I do not believe you will be disappointed

« Good value, pleasant, but a little dated »

When we first turned up at the hotel, we felt a little disappointed. However, when we entered, it was pleasant. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was quick. The hotel room was clean and spacious. However, the bathroom was a little small and dated. This could do with an update, but I should mention it had obviously been cleaned. It was great value, being g cheaper than a premier Inn. We didn't try the restaurant for dinner, but there was plenty of choice at breakfast. The only thing I would say is that there weren't too many coffee/tea pots so you had to interrupt others during breakfast (they were placed on random tables). Overall though breakfast was nice. We would recommend this hotel as clean budget accommodation.

    « great hotel »

We stayed for four nights two weeks ago and we could not fault the service. We had one of the larger double rooms and it suited us very well. After the first evening meal, which we thoroughly enjoyed, we decided to book a table in the restaurant for the remaining stay rather than look elsewhere in Tiverton, and we were not disappointed. The waiting staff were efficicient and very charming and we enjoyed the breakfasts too. I did have an opportunity to thank the head waiter and he gave me the chance to thank Mrs Roberts in person too. It makes so much difference when the owners are involved. Some customers may have had unfortunate experiences but I think the staff should be made aware of this at the time so there is an opportunity to rectify any problems. I would just like to record my thanks to the owners and their staff. Some reviewers mentioned parking - had absolutely no problem with logging in our car registration number on arrival. From then on we had just a short walk to the town centre - absolutely ideal for us

    « Wonderful staff »

For some years now we have stayed here on breaks, maybe six times a year, and for all that time all the staff have been efficient, friendly and really helpful. It is always a pleasure to stay, the welcome for our puppy was good as well! The rooms are a good size and really well presented, with a good standard of housekeeping. This was the first hotel my grandsons stayed in and now have a very low opinion of some chains of hotels. Breakfast covers all options, and is cheerfully served.

    « Friendly as always »

Stayed at Best Western Tiverton for third time last night. Had booked online and had room in the "Executive Wing" of the hotel. Large room with King Size bed, dressing gowns, iron and ironing board in room, had we needed them. Also in room was a large desk should we have required one. We ate in the bar area as we didn't want full restaurant meal. The food we ordered was well cooked and presented and good value.

    « Fabulous stay »

We were very impressed with this hotel. The staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful. When asked they readily provided another vegetarian option for the evening meal. The breakfast choice was good and everything was hot . The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated.

    « Never again »

My husband and myself have been in this hotel for food and drinks many times without a problem on our last few visits thing have been going down hill we had a roast lunch the patatoes were full of grease the veg was cold and soggy we mentioned it to the waitress she said she would let the chef no but we didn't get a response so didn't want to cauce a fuss so we left

    « Very impressed »

This was the fourth time we had chosen to stay at the Tiverton Hotel but the first time with our new dog. Although it wasn't clear on the website whether dogs are accepted in the rooms , a quick phone call confirmed we could upgrade to a dog friendly room for an extra £10 which is the same as travelodge but a much nicer room. We were very impressed that upon arrival in the room they had provided a dog blanket , bowl and some doggy treats. We were not expecting that and it was a nice touch. The room was up to the usual excellent standard; clean, modern and with a very comfy king size bed. There was also an enormous bath although we didn't get chance to use it. There was a nice grassy area with a stream at the back of the hotel which was great for walking the dog. We have never been disappointed by this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

« Awful end to a celebratory day. »

After spending a delightful afternoon on the Tiverton barge celebrating my mother's 75th birthday, 5 friends and family decided to visit Tiverton Hotel for a spot of late lunch. There were 5 of us at around 5 pm and the place was empty. The chap on reception was very helpful and said he'd ask the chefs if they would agree to let us have something from the bar menu which they duly did. He handed-over to his female colleague at the bar and returned to reception as he was expecting a coach party to arrive. Despite the place being empty, our order was never taken. In fact we hadn't a clue where the bar lady/waitress had gone so my brother and I waited at the bar. When she did finally turn up behind the bar to take our order, it's fair to say that it was all too confusing for her. I will explain - my mother and I have very small appetites, my daughter has coeliac disease (no, not an intolerance, a disease). My mother and I ordered scampi and fish and chips respectively but asked if we could have them in a small portion. My aunt and brother asked for the same but in normal sized portions. My daughter had to have a toasted sandwich because all they had was gluten free bread. Even the chips had gluten in them. So, computer said no re the smaller portions. The supervisor's permission had to be sought. I was told that yes, I could have a small scampi but no, my mother couldn't have a small fish and chips. Why not we queried? It involves using the smallest piece of fish you have, less chips and less veg but no, that was absolutely not possible. My brother exclaimed about the level of customer service and was abruptly told 'it's not my fault' in a very defensive manner. Eventually our food arrived and it was actually quite tasty. However, despite the protestations of the supervisor that my mother was not allowed a small piece of fish, she actually received a piece half the size of my auntie's. Therefore, why was she now allowed to have this in the first place? To top it all off, my daughter was glutened. We have no clue by what, perhaps a salad dressing, we have no idea but she spent the rest of the night being sick with horrendous stomach cramps. I'm actually quite appalled by the lack of service and inflexibility we received. We were 5 people. The chefs had agreed we could stay. I would have understood if we were an unexpected coachload of tourists but we weren't. We asked for 2 normal meals, 2 small meals and a sandwich. I could do that at home standing on my head. In years gone by I have waitressed and done bar work as has my brother, daughter and mother. Never, ever would I speak to a customer like this and never ever shall we return. The only good thing about this place was the lovely guy on reception when he came in. He deserves some recognition for his customer care skills. In future, I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone. There are so many nicer places to choose around the surrounding villages.

    « relaxed stay »

Although these hotel rooms are dated they are clean and have more plus sides than minus. The room is spotless and cleaned everyday, teas and coffees well stocked , we didn't have to ask for any more like most hotels, towels were lovely and soft and bed comfortable. The staff are brilliant, very polite and helpful, I would like to add that the waitress who served our evening meal on Mon 7th August was exceptional and made our meal special, sorry I didn't get her name. The food in the hotel restaurant is good, breakfast could be better e.g fried egg-real mushrooms but that's my personal like. On the whole we had a lovely stay here and can recommend. A refurb would make it 5 star!

    « Wedding »

Went here for a wedding. Not very good. Why would you make the bride change rooms if the one she was in the night before her wedding was bigger than the one you call bridal suite?? They have moved her room for a bigger one. Also we had to call down to reception to see if we could have a free bottle of prosecco for the bride. When she called down the morning of her wedding to get some breakfast delivered to her room she was told that she would be charged 5 pounds! Dont know what kind of hotel you run but i know i will not recommend it to anyone. And not to talk about the wedding breakfast... Even though the bride had given you the list of names and menu choices you still didnt know what people were having. Half of the top table didnt had any prosecco for the toast. One of the bridesmaids had to go get a bottle and pour it. Just really bad service and experience.

« Always enjoy staying here, kind and comfortable »

Large comfortable rooms with everything you need and good linen, good shower too. Staff are always helpful, especially at breakfast, which is high quality, and they give a very personal service. Excellent atmosphere ? though the decor is bland and unexciting, the overall effect is very relaxing.

    « Nice hotel »

We used this hotel for one night on our way back from Cornwall. Nice hotel with good sized rooms. Restaurant and bar were both very good with good quality food. It is a three star so thats what you get. However, the hotel is in, what appears to be, an industrial area with roads around it that seem to draw all the boy racers in cars with loud exhausts blasting out till the early hours. Not the hotels fault and to be fair we had our windows open, as it was a very warm night. I just do not understand how they get away with it by the police? Do they not stop this noise pollution? So it was a Saturday night too, so I guess that did not help. But the hotel is good and the town is too.

« DON'T PARK HERE IF YOU WANT TO AVOID A PARKING TICKET! »

I visited Tiverton Hotel on 22nd May 2017 with my husband. Upon checking in at the Reception, we were asked to input our car registration into a screen on the desk which we did accordingly. On 24th June 2017, I was then surprised to receive a parking ticket for £60 if paid for within 14 days or £100 thereafter. After contacting the Manager of the hotel, he offered his sympathy, but could only suggest that the ticket was appealed (this is his hotel for goodness sake)! He went on to say that he would support the Appeal and offered a free overnight stay, by way of compensation. The ticket was duly Appealed and declined. The matter has been appealed further to POPLA, but I received a call today from Rhys Roberts the Manager, stating that this too has been declined. This is disgraceful and in my opinion, nothing but a scam! Jeanne Churchill

« Once again a lovely visit to our very favourite hotel »

Just returned after a 6 night stay. purpose to visit elderly relatives and enjoy a break ourselves. This hotel is something special, having fantastic management and wonderful staff no more than we would expect. We are made to feel so welcome here. Ashleigh on reception recognised us, which was amazing after all the people she deals with, we had a nice chat abour previous holidays and as we told her all the staff had been smily and spoken to us. It is a pleasure to see Carol and Colin again, who again welcome us and always look after our every need. The breakfast food was simply delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were prompt and efficient. Evening meal was very enjoyable, with outstanding quality to the food. Presentation to the food was impressive, We brought family in to eat in the evening with us and they thought the meal was amazing too. This hotel is home from home and we have in the past been elsewhere but staying at B.Western definately meets all of our needs. The rooms are soundproof the TV is excellent the cleandliness is outstanding, the cleaning staff leave our appartment in prestine condition. The bed was very comfortable. We had a good nice sleep from night 1 to the end of the holiday. Thankyou for your service, we cant wait to see you all again! Lynda & Alan B.

« Friendly hotel in great location »

Three nights on business spent in this friendly hotel. Located a short walk from the main shopping area the hotel was quiet with comfy rooms and very good housekeeping. The town has plenty to offer including an award winning museum and plenty of restaurants. The town is an ideal base for exploring Devon.

    « Location »

If like me you travel all over the country, location is key. Within easy access of the M5 Large car park, but make sure you log your car reg on arrival Reception staff very helpful It's 3 star and you can see why, very dated and where painting has been done you can see paint splashes on areas not designed for painting Rooms are large and very comfortable, but again dated. It's no premier inn at premier prices Did the meal deal which included 3 courses in the restaurant, food was good and the staff were attentive, however they had a trainee in called Caitline, sorry she's no trainee. She needs to be running the restaurant. Smart professional. Some of the male staff, shirts hanging out at the back, don't think they know what shoe polish is. Will I stay here again, yes the location is great Will I do the meal deal again NO Bar meal looked more appealing. But that's my choice

    « Very comfortable »

Loved this hotel. Large comfortable room. A bath! Very clean. The food in the bar was the best evening meal we have had so far on this trip and very reasonably priced. Would definitely come again. Staff at reception very helpful. The fittings vanity, shower, are a bit dated but work fine and in good condition.

« Hospitable, comfortable, very pleasant »

We spent a weekend here. We were a little concerned when they emailed us a couple of weeks before our stay to tell us that they were hosting a school prom on the Friday that we were due to arrive. However we needn't have worried - apart from the "red carpet" and photos being taken in front of the entrance (and dressed up teenagers wandering around) - you wouldn't really have known it was going on. We were able to book a table for dinner and the noise was minimal. The rooms were quite spacious - one minor criticism; they could have taken some of the space from the room to make the bathroom slight larger!! The staff were very helpful and friendly and when we booked we were able to get a ground floor room for an elderly relative - there is no lift - although there is only one other floor. A thoroughly enjoyable stay, good food, comfortable room, easy to find location in a picturesque setting. worth a visit if you are in the area

« Lovely rooms at the side of the river »

A nice hotel, with an easy ten minute walk into Tiverton centre. Nice riverside walk at the back of the hotel into open countryside. Well placed for amenities. Clean, bright and spacious rooms. Only two floors but no lifts. Large car park. Visited with a coach party - food OK, starters and sweets very good. Carvery for main course. Staff very helpful. Anything requested e.g. freshly fried egg at breakfast no problem.

« Spacious hotel with super staff »

Stayed at the hotel for 7 nights with a party of 43 people whilst we were on a bowling tour of the area. This hotel ticked all the boxes from the moment we arrived to the day of departure. The reception staff were really helpful and efficient, especially when a little help was needed with Wi fi and our various I-pads etc, nothing was too much trouble. The majority of rooms contained a double and a single bed with plenty of room all around. They were very well maintained and comfortable. The kitchen staff were very flexible for if you wanted something slightly different they did their best to accommodate. In addition to touring parties like ours, they provided different menus for the lounge / bar area & also for private diners in the restaurant. The bar lounge area was very spacious with comfortable sofas and chairs and provided a nice place to finish off the meal with coffee and mints. Car parking was in abundance with flat parking on two sides of the complex. All in all a well organised hotel offering excellent service across all areas, very comfortable and good value for money. The Wi-Fi was simple to log into & worked consistently well in all the areas I visited. What's not to like?

« One Night Stop to Visit Relatives and Friend »

I chose the Best Western Tiverton Hotel for a one night stay mainly due to the location as I had been visiting relatives in Taunton and was heading on to West Cornwall the following day. The hotel is easy to find if driving from the M5 and has plenty of parking. Note that your car needs to be registered at reception on arrival but this is explained when you check in. Staff on reception were very helpful and friendly. The town is a short 10-15 minute walk away from the hotel. At the back of the reception area is an excellent selection of local tourist brochures so for anyone using the hotel as a base to tour around the area will find plenty of inspiration there. My room was very comfortable, clean and all the facilities expected were there. I got a good night's sleep which is unusual for me when staying in hotels. The breakfast is served buffet style but the waiter or waitress brings your tea or coffee then stands waiting to clear tables. I would recommend this hotel, very comfortable for a short stay.

    « A one night rest stop »

We were surprised by how good this hotel was as we were not looking for anything other than a night's rest. The staff were good and everything went smoothly. The room was spacious and quiet ... slept for 9 hours as we were both tired Good location for M5

« Traditional Devon Hospitality at its best »

Conveniently situated in mid Devon just a few miles off the M5, the hotel would make an excellent base for a whole holiday or an ideal stopover with plenty of parking. We arrived to a genuinely warm and friendly greeting from the receptionist and were promptly checked in and directed to our room. The hotel is extremely spacious and in a lovely quiet location close to the town centre. Our room was equally spacious and very well-equipped with a good range of shower gels/shampoo, soft fluffy towels and a hairdryer. All of which set it apart from run of the mill 'motel' like accommodation. The bed was amazingly comfortable and we slept like logs. It was also nice to be able to open the window fully as we would at home. I will say this hotel is of its era, the bathroom could do with updating. Also at the nightly rate we paid, I felt breakfast could have been included to make this real value for money. Nevertheless would highly recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights friendly helpful staff comfy bed an good sized room. Food was excellent well priced and well presented. There was a good choice at breakfast with opportunity to order kippers. « Wedding day »

What a lovely place for a wedding venue. My Daughter and Son In Law got married there on the 6th May this year, and it couldn't of been any better, Jo the events organizer and her colleagues Sam and Carole were wonderful. We stayed there the day before the wedding, and the rooms were spotless, and very spacious. They did everything, held the ceremony, wedding breakfast, and the disco and hog roast in the evening. They made the day run smoothly. We thank you all for helping the day go so well and it will be remembered for years

    2
    « Dissapointed »

We visited for four days with a large group of friends. The car park was spacious. During our stay we had to share the dining room with a wedding party and two coach trips. Service was poor. The food portions were minute and the quality was poor and barely hot. One day the breakfast was cold and we had to complain. We had a superior room which was quite large. A lot of space was taken up by a large desk which left little space for a drawer unit. The bathroom for a superior bedroom was quite small.

    « Excellent accommodation »

This hotel is absolutely amazing in all ways! The rooms are spacious, extremely comfortable and provide everything that could be needed, and more!!! We arrived on bikes and the staff were more than happy to find us a safe and secure place (inside the hotel!) to store the bikes overnight. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, it's just wonderful, thank you to all the staff there for making our stay so enjoyable.

    « Comfortable and well-run hotel »

The hotel is a bit disappointing from the outside, but once inside everything was good quality. The room was large and well appointed - although the bathroom was dated. Breakfast was great - kippers one day and haddock the next. Good location.

    « A good choice in Tiverton »

The hotel is conveniently located on the edge of the town. Parking is free and enough available. The building is about getting old from outside, but inside very clean and well maintained. The room was clean and in good condition. The staff is in all areas very friendly and helpful. The WiFi is free and works well. The breakfast is rich and good. All in all a pleasant stay.

    3
« Likes to think it's more than it is »

Pleasant enough but feels like a chain with precocious ideas, especially regarding dining. Separate card payments for B&B (on arrival) and dinner on departure. Won't pre-authorise card for a single payment on departure. Self-service buffet breakfast with average ingredients (bland sausages) and even self-service toast for ordered poached eggs (slow to come so toast cold before their arrival)

    4
    « Good comfortable room »

we had a nice stay here for a couple of nights. The staff are friendly, the room was very comfortable and the Hotel was well placed for easy access to town. The Decor is slightly 1980s, but I have stayed in larger chain Hotels and had a lot worse. Breakfast is excellent and was in our room rate. Would definitely stay here again.

    3
    « Adequate »

Clean. Nice room. Fair value for money. Not too good disabled facilities as no room to turn a wheelchair. No handles also in bathroom. Breakfast was just ok. Staff where helpful. Parking outside was good. Good location.

    4
    « Good accessible facilities »

We stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst attending a wedding in Tiverton. Very friendly, helpful staff and a great breakfast. Our room (an accessible one) was very clean and comfortable. The only downside was the very long distance to our room from Reception, particularly when returning in the Kate evening when one could not use the short cut across the carpark! It would have been five stars if there was accessible parking and guest access through the fire door close to our room which was open during the daytime, but closed in the evenings, entailing a long walk from the accessible Parkin, through Reception and down two corridors to reach our room.

    5
« Service how it should be »

Excellent service, we hold all our business meeting here know, lunch is brilliant, the room is excellent and we are always looked after by everyone. Can not fault this place. Parking is free just remember to register your car at reception.

« Nice hotel pretty centrel »

Typical best western hotel. The room was very large with a nice view of the field/football pitch at the back. Bar and restaurant was fine. The only downside was the pressure in the shower. I would book direct it was around £18 less then through booking.com who I always use.

    « Nice hotel »

Very nice hotel. We visited this hotel for one night and had a very pleasant stay. I am a full on transvestite and was made to feel very welcome by all staff members. I was even given advice by one staff member on which foundation creams work best for shaving rashes. Very open minded attitude demonstrated by staff which is a refreshing change to some of the abuse I get. No pool which is a shame as I do like to show off in a bikini but alas not this trip.

    « Pretty Good »

A one night stay for about the fourth time. The hotel is smart and clean, the service is pretty good. The rooms are a good size with everything you need, warm and very comfortable beds. In the past I have been disappointed with the quality of the breakfast but on this occasion the cooked buffet breakfast was very good indeed in particular the scrambled eggs, cooked just right. My only small criticism of this hotel on this occasion is the Christmas decorations, I mean really, on the 21st November it's a bit early. The hotel has superb parking and is very close to the town centre and the historic canal, great for walking.

« Good and bad points »

Stayed on a Groupon deal with a couple of friends, which was very good value. The good - friendly staff, clean rooms, linen and towels, complimentary toiletries and shower cap provided, other essentials could be obtained from Reception if forgotten. Plenty of sockets for charging and decent free Wi-Fi. Tea and coffee making in room and they were happy to provide fresh milk for the room on request. Three course dinner on first night was very good, (apart from the goats cheese and beetroot starter, as the goats cheese turned out to be a couple of very small blobs on the plate). Other than that, the food was very tasty and well presented and exceeded our expectations. The dinner was part of our deal, but if paying it would be £25 pp for 3 courses. Breakfast was good - boxed cereals, fruit and croissants, pain au chocolate, plus a buffet cooked breakfast with bacon, properly cooked sausages, tomatoes, hash browns, scrambled egg and very nice mushrooms. You toasted your own bread on a rotating toaster. Individual pots of Marmite as well as marmalade and sauce sachets provided, as well as the normal tea, coffee and choice of fruit juice. Plentiful free parking on the hotel grounds and a large Tesco within easy walking distance, and the town was within walking distance too. The bad - the place felt a little soulless, which is maybe the way chain hotels are. The evening meal was served in a room like a canteen with no ambience. Rooms were a little dated, particularly the bathroom, and the shower head was small and gutless and difficult to get at the right temperature with mixing the two taps. Only two flimsy plastic cups provided in the bathroom. Drinks from the bar were pricey; eg. over £8 for a beer and an orange juice, nearly £7 for a 250ml glass of wine! What shocked me most was that my friend, who can't drink tea or coffee, asked for a hot chocolate as a hot drink at breakfast, for which he was charged £2.80! I queried this at checkout, but they insisted this was classed as a 'speciality' drink and refused to deduct it from the bill. We often go away with our friends and they've never been charged for a breakfast drink before. Also, they need to do something about the noise the rotating toaster makes - a high pitched screech from the machine was present during the entire breakfast service - not very relaxing.

« Enjoyable weekend until last breakfast »

The three course dinner the first night was lovely as was the breakfast Saturday morning, never tasted such nice scrambled eggs, also mushrooms were extra nice. Really was looking forward to breakfast on Sunday, but unfortunately it was a big disappointment, cold plates, different chef, who had put loads of peppercorns in the scrambled eggs and mushrooms, completely ruining the breakfast. Nice big clean room, friendly staff, good wi fi. Just a shame that our last memory of the weekend was the awful breakfast.

    « Tiverton visit »

Located just close by the large Tesco, they have plenty of parking, free wifi but the hotel its a little bit dated. The staff were very nice, the bar has a good selection and the restaurant seemed popular. The room was clean but as I said tired, especially the bathroom which could use a make over/upgrade.

    « Popular and convenient »

Very helpful staff and a great place if you have a large party to entertain. There is a choice of private rooms to suit the size of your event. The bedrooms are pleasantly fitted out, the bathrooms a bit dated. Wi-fi rather weak. Excellent parking facilities, as one would expect, this being one of the first "motels" in the UK.

Having received a BUY A GIFT voucher for afternoon tea at the Great Western Hotel at Tiverton we were not disappointed. Having booked for afternoon tea we arrived the table set and reserved for us. Lovely waitress served our individual bottles of prosecco wine.... then the afternoon tea arrived along with pot of tea ....Cheerful service...made to feel it was a special occasion. Would recommend to friends and family. Wonderful treat.

Stayed at this hotel on the 2nd Nov After a long travel down from the north i checked in then visited the bar area for some food, I ordered a steak and ale pie which came cold, it was taken back to the kitchen and brought back only just warm, the side vegetables were cold. The fan on the ceiling was blowing like it was summer and the pastry was all all over the place. Was offered a free pint rather than something alternative on the menu and was also charged for the pint on check out! Room had a funny odour and the TV was hardly visible from the other side of the room. Not a very good stay considering I am a diamond member I don't think I will stay here again when I return to Devon. No offer of reimbursement or extra points to help, which was disappointing as this would have at least contributed to the bad experience.

    « excellance »

this is an excellant hotel and staff are very kind and helpful as well as very professional, the reception staff certainly made our stay brillant and i would recommend it to anyone - lovely stay. our dog also came with us and he was very welcome with a welcome pack we were very impressed with the overall service. one recommendation i would like to make is that the windows could do with being replaced with pvc ones as bad condensation.

    « Short break »

Just returned from a short break at this hotel. Very comfortable and clean. Had a problem with noisy not controlled children in adjoining room at about 5.45. After complaining to reception our room was changed immediately. Very helpful staff and good food served in the restaurant.

« Wedding + Use Hotel Business Regular »

We had our wedding at this venue in July. It was fantastic and we had a 5* service in a 3* hotel. We couldn't of been happier with the food, service, rooms and how well we were looked after on our wedding day. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in Mid Devon. I also use the venue due to the convenient location for meetings, somewhere to work and coffee!! Its great with superb service!!

    « A very comfortable stay »

We have just spent four days in this hotel. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent and we had a delicious meal in their restaurant one evening with my daughter and her partner. My husband is wheelchair bound. The room had plenty of space for him. The bathroom was a little snug. No room for him to turn his chair round. We managed and would certainly return again.

« A hotel that still has a personal touch »

Have just returned from a 4 day stay at the Tiverton Best Western. I have used this hotel now for the past 2 years as our son lives in Exeter and this makes for a good base. Having stayed in nearly all the hotels in Exeter this hotel is better by miles. The staff know us and are friendly and attentive. I must add they are just the same with people they don't know. The food is good and if you have cause for complaint it is dealt with instantly. On our last occasion at the hotel I needed to print 200 sheets of paper for my work, the reception manager and staff helped me and I was not charged a penny for the paper or printing. Try and get that for nothing in the Hilton chains etc. It is a hotel of its era and that does give it charm. I would not say it is dated and certainly it is clean, having met Jo the house keeper, there is no way you will find dirt anywhere. Overall this is a great place to stop at. We will be going back for sure.

« Not worth the money we paid. »

The bed was comfy and it was clean on arrival ... that's about it on the good things about this hotel. Everything is seriously outdated, feels like you're staying in an old people's home. The staff on reception were blunt and came across rude(the girl that took our key in the morning was much nicer, so not a dig at all the staff) As you walk through the corridors it's like someone has sprayed a bottle of cheap air freshener and the smell was there throughout our whole visit, it's overpowering and not nice at all. We didn't eat here but the food on the menu looked okay. I wouldn't stay here again, better off staying in a bed and breakfast in Tiverton, much better value for money. We stayed for one night, costing us over £100 without breakfast, totally over priced.

    « Autumn break »

Stayed at the hotel after booking their special autumn break deal. Excellent value for money, lovely hotel, staff very friendly and helpful food enjoyable, ( evening meal, bar meal and breakfast ) and complimentary cream tea was lovely Rooms good clean and comfortable, however no lift so anyone with disability problems would need a ground floor room. Large car park, good location great place to stay for travelling around and seeing the region, would certainly visit again

« Convenient location for exploring between north Devon and Exeter »

This hotel is ideally situated for visiting this area of Devon. I stayed here for 4 nights to attend a family wedding. The rooms were of a good size, toiletries and bathrobes were provided. Areas of the hotel have recently been decorated, my room was due to be done in the next phase of refurbishment. My bathroom was a little tired, ventilation overnight in the ground floor rooms created a security problem if the windows were left open, the hotel were addressing this problem. Plenty of parking. No lift to upper floor.

    « the Tiverton Hotel »

Excellent Hotel with professional and pleasant staff who were happy to help answer any questions. The room was spacious with good complimentary toiletries. All areas were well decorated and clean. I would suggest this should be a 4star hotel as the hotel we had stayed in on the previous 2 nights was nowhere near the standard of This hotel. Thank you everyone for a lovely break.

« It does what it says on the tin »

This is a very basic hotel, that provides reasonably comfortable beds. There was a large wedding party at the time, that stood outside and smoked all day. That wasn't too nice. Close walk to town which could be a lot more picturesque.

    « Will visit again »

We stayed for two nights. The reception team were spot on, polite down to earth and friendly. We were fully informed on what to expect from the hotel. The rooms were large and clean the decor didn't seem dated. We had drinks in the bar later in the evening and they were not overpriced. Again bar staff polite and really nice. We attended a wedding at the hotel Saturday. Everything was spot on. Food was ok staff attentive and nothing too much trouble. Shout out to the night porter for putting up with a group of rather drunk individuals! He was a gem! My only two little tiny complaints. The room where the wedding ceremony was held, it's a little warm perhaps get a fan in there. The hot breakfast wasn't hot it was barely warm but the food itself was nice. What made this stay enjoyable was definitely down to the staff. Chatty down to earth and helpful.

    « another good stay »

We stayed here again with our dog, and had the same room as last time, which is right next to an outside door leading to the garden area (42) so ideal for walks without going through the hotel. Had a really nice meal in the bar again, canmot fault the food, and a great breakfast. Always pre book the night before and save £3 each. Like last time fire alarm . This wasudue to the disco upstairs and the staff were really good with everyone, and no real fire, so back in to finish drinks. Have now got my loyalty card for Best Western, so will be staying with them again.

    « Best Western Tiverton »

Excellent location for touring Devon. Clean and and comfortable room. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Bar food fresh and good value. Booked 3 nights but wish I had known about the 2 night autumn break which would have been even better value.

    « ISH...Thats about it »

Checked in late on and was met by a 'ladies night' event going on which was interesting....Had a quick bite to eat and drink in the bar and the headed to bed, not particularly a good nights sleep with various doors banging and a very tired room. Meeting event the next day was in the upstairs part and seemed to be an issue with how many coffees we ordered which was strange. Average is the word for this place either that or Alan Partridge!

    « Very enjoyable stay »

I enjoyed my stay at Best Western Tiverton. The room was very comfortable and spacious and well decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The fish dishes were really delicious. The vegetarian options could be increased.

    « Fantastic time »

I was part of a coach trip on my visit in Sept. The welcome was great, my room was excellent lots of space and extremely clean. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. Despite the fact there were 3 different parties in over the weekend service was excellent. The food was excellent and well presented. My only query is why does this hotel only get 3 stars. I have stayed in 5 star hotels and not been treated as well.

« so much better than I remember »

What a super surprise to see this hotel now. I used to live in Tiverton many years ago and this place was not that good then. Visitd it again yesterday and what a marvelous surprise. It is now a lovely place, beautifully furnished and laid out. Smart and efficient staff. A real credit to Best Western. We will visit again.

    « All very good »

Stayed here for two nights for a wedding. Overall can not fault the hotel and the staff. Rooms nice and large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of offerings and very attentive staff. The hotel does seem to be trapped in the 1990's however that does not make it a bad hotel.

    3
    « WiFi still »

Posted a review back in April. Rest of hotel is still fine but WiFi is still extremely poor and has been commented on by most of my colleagues. We stay here regularly for business and the poor WiFi wasn't a one off in April, it is a continual issue. Hard to get anything done when little to no signal is available. Food has been great and staff are really good though. Just hoping wifi can be improved.

    « Amazing service »

I have been here a few times now, it looks like they are starting to redecorate the rooms and as soon as that is done they will be at the level of the Bar/restaurant staff who are superb. Nothing is too much trouble and from sitting Next to a family whose daughter has very specific needs; you only have to ask and they will provide, with a smile! Superb service!

    « Smelly, uncleaned room »

Room had not been cleaned well and had an unpleasant odour that made us / our clothes smell for the next day. Previous occupant stains in bathroom and floor not hoovered covered in the previous occupants' hair and bits. Shower over bath - tub sticky. Comfy bed. Good breakfast. Pleasant staff. Accommodation utterly disappointing.

    3
« Good. Nearly very good. »

The hotel part was very good - a warm welcome and large comfortable rooms. We had dinner there on two nights, and we thought that the food was very good too, but the problem is that the eating environment is not great... 1. On the nights we were there there were coach parties in, and we felt that they were what the dining room concentrated on. We had to wait a long time on occasions and, once the coach parties had left the dining room, the waiting staff were keen to clear away and set up for breakfast, and we had the impression that they wanted us just to leave. 2. The waiting staff were very variable - many were warm and friendly, but some (younger ones I have to say) were brusque and frosty, and gave the strong impression that they would rather have been somewhere else. Not at all what we appreciated in what is a pretty expensive restaurant in a pretty expensive hotel. A big pity, because many things were very good, and we enjoyed our stay and our meals a lot.

    « A good 3 star hotel »

We stayed here overnight for a wedding. It is advertised as a 3 star but it is a good 3 star. Bedrooms were very comfortable and clean and the bed gave us a very good night's sleep. If there was one weakness was that the bathroom was dated but was clean and at a very good price was perfect for an overnight stay. I understand the bathrooms are due a refurb soon. I would add that the service was good as evidenced by the late check out they gave to one of our party who left the wedding early before the meal as was ill. They allowed she and her husband to check out late for which were very grateful. Ashleigh, thank you very much

A great stopover hotel as on our way to Cornwall. Our rooms were large , comfy & very clean. Staff were all extremely helpful, a nice friendly atmosphere. A good bar menu & a more formal dinner menu available. Both very good. A nicely cooked breakfast, good bacon & sausage !!! Have stayed before & would recommend.

    « Extraordinarily good »

This is simply one of the very best hotels we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in some cracking hotels. The staff are like you always wish staff to be - friendly, polite, helpful and they do all they can to put the customer first. The rooms are bright and spacious (the coloured suites in the bathrooms add a quirky old fashioned charm and the toiletries and fluffy towels are great). I love the crisp linen at breakfast time and the a la carte cooked items are a great addition to the normal bacon, eggs etc. The bar menu is tasty and inexpensive and eaten in a really pleasant lounge area mercifully free of music. There is plenty of parking and is a super venue for couples, family or business.

    « Bar Meals - Good Choice! »

My Dad, Aunt & I went here for a nice bar meal after what was a very tiring day. Luckily we arrived and ordered before a coach lot of people arrived! We opted to stay in the bar as the tables were laid out in the main restaurant for the coach. The menus are different in the bar to the restaurant which is fine. I opted for the lamb moroccan burger with halloumi cheese which was very tasty! It was cooked medium which for me is fine but please be aware of this as I wasn't told when I ordered. The other food on the table was also very yummy and flavoursome. Only one dessert was ordered but from what I can tell this was also a hit. I recommend the bar meals here without a doubt!

    « Best Western Hotel »

The hotel is a modern building and visually uninspiring, but that is about the only negative thing about the place. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the rooms are large, clean and comfortable. We were on a package that included an evening meal, and the menu was varied and interesting and without the supplements which often are attached to some dishes, I had an excellent brace of game (which turned out to be a triple) which was as nice as anything I have had for a while, whilst the cheeseboard was varied and generous. There was even cask beer in the bar. The hotel has lots of free parking yet is only 10 minutes walk from town. There is free wifi and the low rise building means that many of the rooms are easily accessible. We used it as a stopover for a trip to Cornwall and would be delighted to return at some point in the future.

« Great place to stay »

Spent two nights in Best Western Tiverton. Great place to base ourselves to explore surrounding area. Nice spacious room, we overlooked the river and hence nice outlook and quiet. Great that you were able to open the windows to get extra fresh air. Lots of tea/coffee included in the room, very friendly staff. Yummy breakfast, and morning papers. Heaps of car parking.

    « 5 day vacation in Tiverton »

Nice and clean hotel. The bedroom was a good standard but the bathroom let it down. The lack of an electric shower was an issue for me. Having to mix the cold and hot taps is something from the early nineties. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was top class.

    « Enjoyable two nights »

I took 30 Swiss people on a tour of Devon and Cornwall and our last two evenings were spent at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and reception helped with directions fosome of the people even going onto the Internet to show them diffent places to visit. On the Saturday before we went on a trip on the canal in the evening they also made sure we had our meal at 5.00 which was beautiful roast with vegetables.

    « Short stay »

Excellent hotel ideally placed for visiting East Devon and Somerset. Also good location for visiting West Somerset Railway and Dunster. Good rail links into Exeter and easy access to south Devon. Easily accessible from Motorway and other forms of transport.

    « Pleasant Stay »

We were not originally supposed to stay in Tiverton but due to a double booking in a nearby village we were redirected to the Best Western. What a pleasant surprise - wonderful friendly staff , spacious room and comfortable bed. As we arrived late we availed ourselves of the bar and bar food - nice meals with plentiful servings and very friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone staying in mid-Devon.

« Looks can be deceiving »

I was a little apprehensive about this hotel because it's not the prettiest from the outside, however, I was really impressed when I stayed there last weekend. The rooms were nicely decorated, clean, spaceous and comfortable. I particularly liked the art work around the hotel. Breakfast was excellent with a really good choice of food and nicely cooked and the staff were really polite and helpful. There was some slight confusion about booking and paying for breakfast but it was quickly resolved. I would definitely stay again.

« Nice and comfortable hotel »

The room was clean and has comfortable beds and easy chairs. There is a very large car park (free parking) en WIFI. In the morning you can have a full English breakfast and if you don\\t like that (like I do) you will be glad to find ingredients for a continental breakfast. The diner we had was good. The staff were friendly. We really enjoyed our stay in this Best Western hotel.

    « The perfect night »

As a en-route stop over we booked a superior room and we surprised at the quality standard of the room we received. We could not fault the room, service or food. The breakfast which appeared self service but was a manned operation. The quality of the components, from a professional view being a retired food inspector, were excellent and well prepared and presented

    4
    « devon delight »

The hotel offers excellent service and lots of food and the beds are very comfortable, The hotel is near the town and the nearby Great Western canal and country park is well worth a visit for walking the towpath or sit and have coffee, or taking a trip on a horse drawn canal boat. .

    « Very nice meal »

My friend had booked a table in the galley restaurant for my birthday. We had a drink first at the bar, I am teetotal and when I go to places like the Tiverton Hotel I give them cards regarding the Alcohol free shop.com, as a customer who buys their wines and beer they have given me business cards to give out. The response to this card was decidedly cold and I was told "we don't have a call for anything like this", I was told the card would be given to the Bar Manager, I have my doubts it got that far. The meal in the restaurant was very nice I had beef and my friend had the Brill. We could not fault the food it was lovely, we both especially liked the way the vegetables were served on small dishes per person, rather than piled up on the plate, the restaurant was clean and tidy. We both felt the front of house staff needed an injection of humour though.

    « Great Stay »

We found the staff very friendly & helpful. It is a nice hotel & the bar area is spacious, bright & airy. Our room was lovely & was always kept very clean. The food at the hotel was quite good, but sometimes it was not very hot, which did spoil it a bit. The choice at breakfast was superb. We did not see that much of Tiverton as we were on a coach trip, but the shopping centre seemed quite good.

    « A pleasant surprise. »

My wife and I wanted a place to stay in Devon en route home after a week spent further south. Deciding that we wanted to see the National Trust property Knightshayes, we picked Tiverton and felt fairly safe using a Best Western Hotel. Upon arrival we knew we had made a wise choice. The young lady on Reception was excellent at her job for checking us in and getting us sorted out with our room. A quiet room facing the back of the hotel was a decent size, comfortable and clean. Our meal in the bar was excellent and just what we needed after our journey. Next morning's breakfast was of an equally high standard and staff were most attentive. This is a hotel we will use again - in part because we liked the friendliness of Tiverton people whose town and shops seem to have a pleasant atmosphere in which everyone has time for each other. Thank you!

« The BEST of Best Western »

From start to finish the Staff were so friendly, helpful and efficient. The Hotel was so clean all the time . My room was out of this world , everything I needed and the bed was so very comfortable. Had a slight problem with Wi-Fi, but resolved so very quickly. The meals were very good with a variation for all tastes , superbly cooked and presented. It was a short 53 seat coach tour break with 4 nights at the hotel and there were many other hotel guests .

    « Great Staff. »

I went to a Conference lunch with 80 people and it was amazing how efficient it all was. Our meals were served quickly and were hot! and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It's very clean and tastefully decorated. Lovely place.

    « Family Party »

We were visiting the area for a family party and just needed somewhere to lay our heads afterwards. The hotel provided just what we needed. The communal areas and bedroom were clean and tidy, the staff were polite and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Nothing to fault at all. Very happy and we would definitely use again.

    4
« Friendly hotel with excellent service »

We stayed here while we were house hunting and walked in on spec as we weren't sure where we would end up. We asked for a quiet room overlooking the river and the staff went to a lot of trouble to find us a suitable room even moving us when we didn't like the first one and treated us with unfailing courtesy. The food in the restaurant was excellent with an extensive menu and superb service. The dishes were well presented and well cooked. The only downside to our stay were the pillows which were like bullets!

    3
    « Convenient location »

This hotel is convenient for the M5 and has plenty of parking. It is conveniently located for a brief visit when passing through Tiverton. My room on the ground floor was large and had all of the basics that I required but the bathroom was dated and not absolutely clean (body hairs on the floor and mould around the bath sealant) and the room had rather a musty smell. Overall, the hotel doesn't have the kind of atmosphere that would encourage me to stay for a relaxing weekend break or holiday. The reception staff were very vague when I arrived and almost reluctant to come to the desk to check me in - very friendly and helpful on checkout. I was going to a wedding, so put the do not disturb sign up until 13.00 when I left and instead of servicing the room later, a bag of linen was left outside the door and the room untouched - for £90 per night, I would expect a little more than this.

« Always a lovely place to stay »

Lovely room.Clean and recently decorated . Good quality food and choice of breakfast. Fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads, cheese, cold meats and cooked breakfast. Worth tasting their evening food in the bar too.

« Very friendly and welcoming hotel »

Just had a very relaxing, 3 night break at this hotel, booked via Travelzoo. Excellent service, good quality breakfasts, large bedroom and very clean. Tea/coffee facilities in room, toiletries, hair dryer in bathroom. Easy chairs in bedroom. Comfortable beds. Everything necessary for a good stay. Well recomended.

    « Good hotel but needs air-conditioning »

Booked direct with the hotel a couple of months prior to our one night stay. Our ground floor room (71) was in what was labeled as the Executive Wing, I don't know if it was an executive room but it was very spacious with a double and single bed. Bathroom was also spacious and appeared to be suitable for a disabled person. TV, tea and coffee facilities, iron and ironing board and a decent hand held hair dryer was supplied but there was no fridge or safe. Plenty of storage space and the closet is the open variety. The carpet had a couple of ruffles but not big enough to trip over. The two main gripes of the room was the lack of air-conditioning and the double bed. Our visit coincided with a cool, overcast and rainy weekend and yet the hotel and the bedroom was very warm. I can't imagine what the rooms must be like on a warm or hot day. Yes, you can open a window, but with a room on the ground floor sleeping with a window open is hard-wired into my DNA as not an option for security reasons. The other problem, the bed, is something I've never come across before. When sitting or laying within a foot of the edge of the mattress, the mattress just gave way and you slid off/out of the bed. Comical but annoying. The breakfast was excellent and was the best full English I've had in many years. For us, the hotel lacked character but was well maintained and clean. Staff were excellent. We would stay at this hotel again but request a first floor room so that we could leave a window open at night, unless of course they now put air-conditioning in.

    5
    « A well-run, highly recommended hotel »

Six of us (three generations) had lunch at the Tiverton Hotel on Father's Day. We've visited for lunch or dinner many times over the years (and we've stayed, too) and as, always, we found everything first class. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone looking for courtesy, friendliness, efficiency, high quality food and extremely pleasant surroundings.

    3
« Tiverton Hotel, Tiverton, Devon »

The hotel room was clean and tidy although, due to lack of water pressure, you had to run around in the shower to get wet. The staff were friendly and accommodating. However the meal we had on the penultimate evening was atrocious. The batter on the fish was soggy and inedible. It was pointed out to the waitress and we were assured the complaint would be reported to the kitchen staff. Consequently we didn't eat there on the final evening.

    « Excellent hotel »

We were very impressed with the hotel, first impressions aren't great from the outside but it really is lovely inside with huge comfortable rooms. One of the best nights sleep I have had in a hotel for a long time. We didn't eat at the hotel as the breakfast is quite expensive and there are other options a short 10 minute walk away, but it smelt lovely on the way out. Would happily stay again

    5
« Excellent staff and service 3 years on »

We organised a classic car tour based at Tiverton in 2012 and were very very impressed and happy. About 35 rooms, 70 people. We organised another for April 2016 - and found that the standard is being maintained. Nothing seems to be a problem for them. Carol - restaurant manager deserves a special mention.

    5
    « Staff are amazing »

Although the hotel looks dated from the outside, it makes up for that with how lovely the staff are and how clean it is. The food is brilliant although it could do with more variety but saying that the chef will cook you anything if he has it available. Brilliant

« Dependable Best Western Quality »

Tiverton, being in central Devon, is an excellent location for touring the County. The hotel is well placed on the edge of town, but a reasonable walk into the centre and to the marvellous Grand Western Canal. In terms of the hotel itself, our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking. The only thing that makes it a "Very Good" as opposed to "Excellent" is the price of the food. The quality is very good, but £25 for a 3-course dinner is too much. We dined in the restaurant on our first night but then had bar meals for the other two, which were just as tasty but a bit more reasonably priced.

    4
    « Business trip »

Room and facilities very good. Reception staff and night porter very friendly and efficient. Not the cheapest hotel - but convenient for work. Had pet dog with us - a nice touch that a rug, bowl and dog biscuits were in the room on arrival.

    4
    « Convenient base »

A two night B&B stay at this hotel was excellent value. The room was huge and well equipped and the hotel was well placed for visiting NT properties and for just walking in to the town. Buffet breakfast was fine with ample choice. Staff all helpful. Wifi very weak in our room but we were right at the far end of the hotel.

    4
« "Average" hotel but lovely staff »

The Best Western at Tiverton is a busy hotel - busy with "coaches" - but the rooms and food are both pretty good and the staff better than in most hotels making this a pleasant place to stop.......but it does need to improve the restaurant service so that the numbers are "smoothed" throughout the service period

« Coach broke down and we had excellent service. »

30+ of us were on our way back to Plymouth when our Coach broke down on a Sunday evening of 5th June. The young lady receptionist responded with making us all very welcome and went out of her way to help. We all ate here ranging from sandwiches to full meals and everything was fine. The young bar man was pleasant and also very efficient. If I was running the hotel that evening I'm not sure I could have coped quite as well. The manager / owner should be very pleased with the service given. Thank you

« need a new staff in dinning area and chef »

Lovely hotel, staff lovely, room excellant, No 80 on ground floor, ideal for disabled as has a disabled shower, Dinning needs a new idea, we arrived on a coach tour on wednesday, was greeted by a lovely lady on the coach, was told Dinner was at 7.30, a bit too late for most of us on coach, but had no choice, when we all arrived in the lounge for to go in for eavening meal, there was another coach party in as well they went in at 7pm, we were told we,d go in a 7.30, we were sat at long tables of multiple seats not a prob there but only 1 table were served at one time , by the time our table was got to it was nearly 8pm, orders was taken for starters, which arrived several min later, but wasnt aloud to get our mains till everyone on our table had finished starters, which some of us dont have starters and so we had too sit there awaiting for our mains, that is another story, sometimes it was barely warm, veg was hard, and sometime ran out of certain meat so had to have what was left available, even breakfast was cold for some guests, need to have a rethink on dinning.

    « Well Worth Considering »

Having stayed in a few Best Western Hotels over the years, some good, some in need of improvement I was more than a little apprehensive as to what we would encounter on a two night £98 Hotel & Breakfast discount weekend offer. All things considered it was quite a lot. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The full english breakfast was good along with the usual continental munches for those who enjoy a light start to the day. The staff were all courteous and we really enjoyed our stay, so much so we decided to have dinner in the hotel bar each night... Were there any negatives?.. well yes, the hotel was just a bit dowdy, the bathroom showed signs of tiredness and could do with updating. But overall we would recommend a visit... I don't think I would want to pay full price for the experience but if you get the opportunity to take advantage of a discounted stay you are on a winner..

« Very good lunch at sensible money »

We arranged lunch here after a morning exploring Exmoor and three of us had different selections from the menu .The food and service were both excellent at £14.50 per head for two courses this represented extremely good value In addition to the above there is a very large car park with designated disabled bays and the hotel has a spacious feel

    « Conference weekend »

Came here for a volunteering conference and the room was very comfortable and clean with a lovely, luxurious bathroom. The buffet lunch and evening meal were delicious. The staff were helpful, and hats off to the barman for putting up with us in the evening!

« Very nice place to stay »

We used our Tesco points for 3 nights stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had breakfast, dinner and a bar meal. Menus were extensive and food was lovely. Well prepared and very tasty. Staff were very friendly, and we had a really enjoyable stay.

« V. good except for evening meal »

Room and beds were large and comfortable. Buffet brekfast was very good, but the hotel is let down by the limited, and quite expensive, evening meal menu. Large and good parking. If you book through "booking.com" you will not be able to book breakfast, so you need to book this on arrival and get your brekfast vouchers. If you fail to do this, your breakfast will be a lot more expensive when you buy it in the morning.

    « Very good stay. »

Had a groupon deal for two days including 3 course meal. Reception staff were very friendly. Well we had a lovely spacious room with a super king sized bed. Had a great two nights sleep. Our meal was lovely. Service was good and friendly. Breakfast was good. Nice choice of contenental and cooked. Can't say what the cooked was like as I only had continental. Really enjoyed my two day stay. Would definitely return if the same offer comes up again in future.

    « Excellent Service »

Good size room, a bit dated in parts, but the size makes up for it. Excellent food in the restaurant. Short walk into town. Good central location for both Exmoor and Dartmoor. A good honest hotel, it does what it says on the tin.

    « Mostly enjoyable »

Hotel and staff good. Other guests from a wedding party made it less enjoyable. Restaurant food excellent both for breakfast and evening meal. My bill at the end wasn't sorted as no senior staff to authorise amendment which I found disappointing.

    « Weekend Stay »

The staff at this hotel in all the departments are outstanding Reception, Housekeeping, Bar and Restaurant. They were attentive, helpful and very pleasant the owner should be very proud of the great team working at the hotel The food was excellent, congratulations to the Chef. Thank you for a delightful weekend

« Pretty flowers covering dated building. »

On the positive side of things, we found the grounds were well kept and the bedroom was a good size, with a comfortable bed (very important) and was clean. However, the bathroom sadly let it down. The bathroom is very dated and tatty, with walls that reminded me of the plastic walls that you might find in an old caravan. A complete revamp is past due to bring it up to modern standards. The breakfast was a let down too. The milk should have been chilled rather than being at room temperature to pour on cereal. The range of serve yourself food could have been more interesting with a just little more variety and the cooked breakfast better quality, especially with the excellent local produce in Devon that is available. The breakfast put us off from trying the dinners on offer. Most of the staff were very pleasant though, which makes it all the more of a shame that the bathroom and food made our experience much less enjoyable than it otherwise could have been.

« best sleep in years »

Just returned from a weekend visiting family and stayed in the \\best Western Tiverton hotel. This is a great mid range hotel that is far better than its exterior suggests. Very friendly and efficient staff and a very comfortable room with the best nights sleep i have had in a long time. The bed was superb and the spacious, solidly constructed and airy room was lovely. The facilities are great and the little complimentary bits in the room are especially thoughtful and appreciated. Thanks for a great stay, we will be back.

« Unremarkable but comfortable chain hotel »

My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights to explore the area. The hotel is a very standard chain hotel with rather tired decor. Don't come here expecting boutique charm or interesting features. For us, that wasn't a deal-breaker. Our room was spacious and comfortable with an excellent bed, though the bathroom was a little bit pokey. The views of course are uninspiring - either the front or back car park. The TV was terrible, with only 3 or 4 channels having good enough reception to be watchable - I'm sure this could be fixed if they invested in a decent aerial. The WiFi was good at least. The breakfast was served to you from a hot-plate, and while a few options could be ordered from the kitchen, most things had been sitting on the heat for a while. Bearing in mind it wasn't fresh, it was fairly good quality. For dinner, it was more disappointing. We opted for the restaurant rather than the bar and regretted it. There were no a la carte options, and instead we had to order a minimum of 2 courses for £21. Immediately this was surprising, as we were sat in the same room we had breakfast, with paper table cloths and cheap furniture - hardly a refined dining experience. Our main courses were good but not great, but the accompanying side of vegetables was poor. Tasteless boiled mixed vegetables with no seasoning. For pub grub, this would be fine, but by having a price like £21 you are lifting the expectations too high. The desserts were great, but ultimately we felt we had paid far too much for what it was. And while most of the staff were courteous, we couldn't help but overhearing an incident at breakfast in which a young lady was rudely criticising a co-worker. She may have been correct for all we know, but hearing this sort of stress comes across as unprofessional. At least the reception staff were all good. All-in-all it was a little disappointing. For a quick business break this place would be fine - the rooms are comfortable and I expect the bar food is better value and more consistent quality. If you're wanting something a little special, you should probably look elsewhere.

« Comfortable rooms, shame about the food »

The rooms here are good standard - although they could do with some updating. The staff are great - very friendly and helpful. It's a busy place dominated by coach tours and business meetings. The big let down is the food. I've stayed here many times - I've has a long period of absence and went back last week. The food was always average.....but it's got worse. I was given some boiled veg - it has obviously being lying around for a while , and the cabbage and carrots were stained with beetroot juice, There were no salads on the menu , no pasta, no curries.....but there was plenty of balsamic around (personally I hate the sharp taste of balsamic vinegar). If you like chips, clotted cream and boiled veg. then this place is fine - personally I've moved on.

    « Good base for Devon sight-seeing. »

Standard B/W fare, friendly staff, good food, bar meals excellent value, breakfasts hot and tasty. Comfortable rooms, however being on the ground floor we were unable to open the windows for ventilation. Central location means the north and south coast resorts and attractions are within easy reach.

« Diamond wedding anniversary lunch »

We held an anniversary lunch here yesterday. We paid extra to have the topaz suite upstairs. We had our own carvery station and staff. Carol and her team were great. Very polite and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The carvery was delicious and plentiful. We could have had seconds if we wanted. The puddings were lovely. A choice of apple pie, brownies, fresh fruit salad or pavlovas. With lovely clotted cream. I wouldn't hesitate to book this venue again for any event. We didn't feel rushed either, no one pushed us out. All in all a great experience right on our doorstep.

    « Great hotel break »

Stayed Friday and Saturday nights having booked via Travelzoo. We were met with a warm and friendly welcome by staff who were very efficient throughout. The hotel was very clean and tidy. The grounds were well kept. Our room was large, had all the accessories and toiletries you could want plus choice of coffees and there were biscuits and bottle of water too which were replaced daily. Although busy at breakfasts we were seated immediately, the staff were attentive and there was a good choice of food, well cooked and delicious - special mention for the bacon which was locally sourced and extremely tasty. There was the option of table service or a plate prepared of your choice at the hot food station. Those who wanted fruit, yoghurt, continental or cereals - again great choice on offer. My husband recommends the bar - a pint of real ale and served promptly by very friendly staff. Great hotel for a break with good connections to explore anywhere. All in all a great weekend and we would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will return in the future.

« A Comfortable Step Back in Time »

A very good value option if you are visiting Exmoor and Dartmoor and the lovely countryside around Devon and Somerset. The hotel itself is frozen in the 1970's, with the usual family run/Best Western badged good old fashioned family owned approach to service. Receptionists are excellent, restaurant and bar staff well trained and attentive, and room staff efficient. It was good to be able to order our newspaper using our The Times voucher - not a service offered by many hotels we find. One thing we did notice was the absence of European staff, all those we came across being local, which is unusual these days. Rooms are dated, but comfortable and spacious, although we found the bathroom cramped in proportion to the space of our superior room: the desk chair in the room was rather shabby, with torn fabric. Evening dinners were rather better quality than the breakfasts, which were decidedly average, with poor quality sausages, eggs, thin toast and tinned fruit. Overall though the two night break package was good value.

« warm and welcoming hotel »

Have just returned from an enjoyable weekend break at this hotel which we will certainly visit again. The room was large and very comfortable, everywhere was spotlessly clean, the staff were really friendly and helpful, breakfasts and meals were lovely.

    « Excellent hotel »

I stayed overnight on business and was pleasantly surprised just how good this hotel was! Excellent service by all staff, room was big with a view of the river, king size bed that was very comfortable. The room had all amenities that were not the cheap variety. Good supply of bathroom toiletries and soft towels. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and little biscuits along with a bottle of water. I ate in the restaurant and the food was high class cuisine, the sticky toffee pudding was to die for!! Breakfast was also lovely with freshly cooked food. The extra bonus was it was not overpriced. Would recommend to anyone!

    « Tiverton Best Western »

A really friendly team who couldn't have done more for us during our short stay. Food great and every area spotlessly clean. Even at breakfast, which saw a full hotel in action, we were seated immediately and served quickly and politely with a delicious breakfast that set us up for the day of travel we faced. This is a lovely hotel in the small market town of Tiverton, Mid-Devon. Well worth a visit to explore if on holiday, or if on business in the area then look no further for a hotel that offers great value for money, good facilities, is clean, with efficient, attentive and friendly staff. Would personally recommend to any friends or family heading this way.

    « An excellent hotel »

My wife and I stayed at this hotel while we were on a coach tour of gardens in Devon and Cornwall. As far as we were concerned this hotel ticked all the boxes. I had requested a room with a shower rather than a bath and that is what we got on the ground floor. The service at reception, in the bar and restaurant was very efficient. The hotel has all the marking of a very well managed establishment.

« Welcoming, efficiently run with very good food and service »

We were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home by the staff. The rooms were comfortable light and warm. The evening meals and breakfasts were excellent and the staff were very pleasant, helpful and made our stay at the hotel very enjoyable. If we were in the area we would definitely choose this hotel. We found the hotel to be quiet and would recommend this hotel,

« Well placed to visit the area »

A good location. We had a superior room, but was well worth the extra. Lots of room, good supply of bathroom requisites and soft towels. Good breakfast and excellent dinner. Staff are all friendly and efficient. Excellent walks close by along Great Western canal and old railway. Couldn't fault anything.

« Could be better for the money »

Good food, comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Needs updating though and the Wi-Fi, especially in the rooms, is poor. Not great on a business trip when you need to get stuff done. Friendly, helpful staff though and great breakfast. It is ok but just feel that for the money, it could be improved.

    5
    « Great meal! »

Stayed on a business trip/meeting last two days, menu with plenty of choice, good value for money, delicious food, clean, comfy beds, friendly staff. Bathroom could maybe do with modernising soon and a little shout of last orders at the bar would have had us buying more before it closed but no complaints.

« Always a great place to stay »

I always stay here when on business in Devon, the rooms are a very good size and there is a huge car park. I have always found the food to be very good and the staff very attentive, lovely food very well presented. The only negative is the sink area in the bathroom which looks a little dated, great shower though, very powerful. Good location for mid Devon, I was given a box of fudge on checking out as a gift for being a loyalty card holder which was a nice touch, it was gorgeous !, free bottled water in the rooms too, bonus.

    5
    « Brilliant value »

This hotel is not in an exciting location and doesn't look inspiring from the outside but is very comfortable, clean and amazingly good value. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Spacious triple room as it was a family stay.

    « Comfortable stay »

I have stayed in many Best Western hotels, partly because I have had very good experiences previously. The best Western Tiverton is no exception. My room was clean and comfortable and had plenty of space. My room was positioned next to a river so had a pleasant view. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the small town centre, which is a pleasant place to shop, with plenty of history and great architecture. Of course we stay in hotels for a good nights sleep. I had one of the best nights sleep I've had in a long while, due to the quiet location and comfortable bed.

    3
    « Friendly hotel »

friendly staff and nice hotel rooms were standard - but pillows and bed were hard. Otherwise plenty of room and clean. Shower wasn't great. Breakfast was not brilliant - hot buffet but they made poached eggs to order. Coffee was poor. handy hotel in useful location and I would use again.

    « Tiverton hotel »

A very well managed hotel. Friendly and efficient staff. I particularly appreciated the fact that the hotel trusts the honesty of its guests: at check-in, I was not presented with a demand to swipe a card, but simply asked to settle for food and drink at the end of my stay. Quiet and spacious room on the first floor. Towels and toiletries were renewed every day without having to make a request. A small detail perhaps, but it all creates a positive impression A good buffet breakfast with a wide range of choices. Restaurant has a varied evening menu: the cooking is never less than OK, and at times very good. Wine of reasonable quality available by the glass. I recommend this hotel.

    « A pleasant surprise »

On first impression the hotel looks as if it were dropped into place in the seventies and stayed there. This being said, I have just spent 3 nights there and am finding it very hard to find fault at all. The layout and décor are a little outdated but this seems to be a Best Western theme around the globe. The absence of a lift could be potentially off putting for anyone with mobility issues but there were plenty of rooms at ground level. Key cards and mobile phones in general don't tend to mix well but here it was a regular issue. And the walls can be a little thin if you're a light sleeper!! The hotel is pet friendly and all those encountered were friendly and well in control. The food is absolutely lovely and any issues you may have are swiftly and courteously dealt with. Indeed all of the staff are a credit to themselves and their employers and I felt genuinely welcome; nothing was too much trouble. Guinness fans will find the best pint in the south west. Breakfast was varied and plentiful and gluten free is available too. The full English was huge and filling and as much as you want to eat! Bar menu is limited time wise but all is available to your room 24/7. If you order the cream tea make sure you're REALLY hungry!! Go there!

« Have much improved their cuisine since out last stay »

We have stayed here two nights at a time for conferences several times before. The noticeable difference this time was that the food has improved enormously : excellently presented, and better ingredients. Service was good. The only distaff side was that I was struggling to find a main course choice on our 2nd night from the limited menu (having been away all that week dining out), and wasn't told that in fact there was a carvery on offer, which had not been set up at the time of ordering, so I didn't see it. The beef in particular looked very inviting, which I would have preferred. They were very good about accepting my bottles of zero alcohol wine (Sainsbury's is my preference) behind the bar without charge, as they don't have any on offer themselves, and I am not permitted alcohol, but like wine with my meal. No corkage charge either. Nothing special about the room, but quite spacious. It wasn't ready when we arrived for the 2pm Friday start of our conference, but they switched us to one that was ready without fuss. As we have no iPad or laptop, we were pleased that there was a free computer with internet connection next to reception. We had the Topaz room on the first floor for the conference - couldn't believe how much it cost, but spacious and very light with views over football fields, and its own toilets.

    « Great overnight stay »

Friendly staff, spacious room and plentiful breakfast. Evening meal in restaurant was a bit different and very enjoyable. Hotel well placed for walking into town and ideally situated for touring the area. We enjoyed our experience so much we are returning for a few days over Easter.

    « stunning »

stayed here on business while in exeter on my first trip to the area. the service, comfort and surroundings were second to none. the meal in the restaurant was out of this world. was leaving early in the morning before the cooked breakfast was available so continental breakfast was delivered to the room. will definitely stay and dine here from now on whenever in the area

« Best Western Tiverton Hotel - Tiverton »

I was working in the area so decided to stay here as the location was good. Staff were very helpful, the room was very large and was very comfortable. Decided to eat in the bar and the food was good. I would certainly stay here again.

« Good for easy access to Tiverton centre »

Booked a one night stay at a room only rate for a twin bedded room. The room we were allocated in fact contained a single and a double (so that was a plus) and was very clean and tidy. We'd chosen the hotel as it was an easy walk to Tiverton centre passing a large 24hr Tesco and a Marks & Spencer Simply food on the way. Would have liked to have had a room safe but none installed and there was no heating in the bathroom, just a large radiator under the window overlooking the ample sized car park. There was some noise from our adjoining room through a locked separating door but not too intrusive. Enjoyed lunch in the bar with excellent gammon steak, chips and eggs which proved to be much better value than breakfast which for a continental and English breakfast, cost considerably more. If you choose a room only deal, I'd recommend eating breakfast in town.

« Where to stay in Tiverton »

we recently spent 2 days in this hotel. Its location was the initial attraction being convenient to the motorway and to the amenities of the town, together with ample parking; Whilst the outward appearance of the hotel is hardly a design classic, the inside is well maintained and functional. the room was spacious and well provided for in terms of comfort and facilities. The reception staff were welcoming and responded very quickly to any issues arising; This level of provision was maintained by the restaurant staff. The quality of the buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the evening meal merited special praise. Overall we can thoroughly commend this hotel.

« Enjoyable stay which has become very familiar to us »

We have just returned home from a 7 night stay at the B.W Tiverton Devon. We have had a lovely time and mainly due to the comfort of your hotel. Staff have all been very friendly and welcoming, and the foods have been enjoyable especially the evening set menu meals. These were excellent (thankyou chef) Coming and going from the hotel is straighforward, and we feel comfortable spending time in the room due to the large size of the room. The hotel and rooms are immaculate and we have been very happy and content to stay for a week. We look forward to returning as we have to visit relatives in this area. We look forward to seeing good deals come out so that it makes it affortable for us to stay the week. Thanks to Rhys for the fantastic running of this Hotel, and thankyou to all the staff for making this a very happy stay

« Ideal stopover for visiting local area »

Stayed at this hotel before, this time only 1 night. Ample car parking quiet location and excellent service all at a reasonable price. The rooms are a good size with comfortable beds with above average facilities. The restaurant provides a bar snack service and full menue at a fair price In general I have found nothing to fault this hotel

« Friendly Staff and decent rooms »

Stayed for one night whilst away on business. The staff were friendly enough, the food was OK, if a bit expensive though in the restaurant. (Stick with the bar snack menu) The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was a little outdated but served its purpose. The price was very reasonable though. Plenty of parking and fairly close to a few shops should you need anything. Worth considering if you're in the area overnight.

    « Just Okay »

Large style hotel with ample car parking. Only a 10 minute walk to Tiverton Main Street, a few to Tesco. Rooms good size, bed really soft and could do with an update. Bathroom with shower over bath okay. Breakfast over priced so just walked up to the Main Street. Restaurant is a hit and miss for quality. Staff very good. Hotel just okay.

« Lovely staff, exceptional service and value for money! »

I'm used to staying in chain hotels so was pleasantly surprised upon arrival to be greeted by such a friendly individual. every single member of staff has obviously been very well trained and takes a pride in their work. The room was large and well equipped & the bed was HUGE! The only negative would be the decor - while fresh and well maintained it is very dated, not the boutique look that people expect these days. regardless of that I will happily use again next time I'm in Teverton. The breakfast was also excellent!

    5
    « Business Stay »

Excellent location easy to find with well lit car parking. Room was very light, airy and clean; good nights sleep and an excellent breakfast in the morning to set you up for the day. All the staff were very attentive and smart and a credit to the owners of the hotel.

    5
    « Christmas stay »

Stayed for two nights on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Although initial impressions including the hotel's corridors aren't as favourable as they could be, our room was comfortable, very spacious and spotlessly clean. Staff were excellent throughout and breakfast on both days was good. Of particular note, we were slightly hungry late on Christmas Day and ordered some bar snacks with not particularly high expectations. The sandwiches and snacks which arrived were fresh, tasty and a credit to whomever was on shift, particularly as it was 8pm on Christmas Day. Overall, a very good stay with a spacious room, a decent sizeable bed, free wifi and very good service throughout. It certainly far exceeded our expectations.

    « Disappointing stay »

We have stayed in this hotel before as it is very convenient for business and family visits. However this time I was very disappointed. Firstly I am a best western loyalty customer which tells me that I will get the best price for any hotel guaranteed! This was not the case. When we arrived there was a much better deal on offer. We asked the hotel to honour this deal but they said no. We then contacted the best western customer service dept who were also unwilling to help. So much for customer loyalty! We decided to eat in the restaurant as it looked OK. The food was very poor. We ordered venison. What we got resembled and tasted like an old boot! Not impressed.

    4
« Not the smartest of hotels but nice atmosphere »

Definitely feel you are in a 1960's timewarp with this hotel - flowery carpets, curtains, bedspreads (remember them), a little curled at the edges but comfortable and reasonable food. Plenty of parking. Nothing to rave about but nothing much to criticise either. Base for walkers and local groups and organisations use the hire rooms which make it busy but not overcrowded.

I would like to say thank you to everyone at the Tiverton Hotel. we had a very enjoyable lunch on Christmas day. The food was amazing and the staff could not have been more welcoming. Happy New year to you all and we will be back.

    « Good Value »

Winter promotion rates makes this hotel good value for money. think the normal rac rate is a bit over the top for the area there a number of small bed and break fasts which are more competitive. Hotel is ideally suiterd for the business traveller whio needs access to North Devon

    « A good 3* Motel »

A nice motel style Hotel on the edge of Tiverton's small industrial area. The Dining facilities and our Superior Room were excellent. The only downsides to the room were 1) walls rather thin with slight noise transmission from adjoining rooms. 2) the bathroom floor was cold on bare feet. A point of advice for the Best Western company is - please investigate with Tiverton Council if they would allow you to fix a small Best Western sign with arrow on the grass verge outside the hotel. We and other guests had a few problems in finding the Hotel Entrance.

« Clive at the Tiverton Hotel »

My review covers a visit to the hotel for a corporate Christmas lunch. Good location on the outskirts of Tiverton with plenty of car parking spaces. Reception area was bright and welcoming and attractively decorated for Christmas. Our meal was in one of the upstairs corporate suites. Large room, bar at one end, well spaced out tables, lovely Christmas tree and decorations. The staff had the tables looking very festive which included crackers and party poppers etc. Some other groups were having the Christmas lunch in other rooms and this was clearly a well oiled dining operation on a large scale. The bar had a few problems - the wrong drink was being dispensed from one of the the guns and drinks had to go back to be changed. Additionally, there did not seem to be enough staff to cope with the initial queue for drinks. The dining room staff were smartly dressed, cheerful and efficient. I normally try to avoid the big group Christmas meal out as I seldom find a meal that leaves a memorable impression. The Tiverton Hotel produced a reasonable lunch for £17.50 which included starter, main course and pudding choices plus mince pies and coffee. It was far from home cooking but my main criticism is directed towards the main course vegetables which were bland and all together in a big serving dish with the sprouts under cooked and as hard as bullets. A bit more imagination from the chef would have made them more enjoyable.

    « Comfortable hotel »

Comfortable hotel. We were given a superior room which was quite large with a king sized bed, very comfortable office chair at a desk and three other chairs. The room was quiet and we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was excellent and had freshly cooked poached haddock and egg. A nice touch was that the table settings for breakfast had a Christmas theme. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was complimentary use of a bath robe, but there was only one to share between two! Free Wi-Fi. Close to town centre and hotel easy to reach by car.

    « Comfortable stop over »

We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the M5. It is not the most attractive hotel from the outside but provided a comfortable and relaxing night stay on route home from Cornwall. The Staff were all friendly. Food and drink of good quality and reasonably priced. We would stay there again.

    4
    « Business stay over »

Stopped over here in December for one night on route to a meeting in nearby. Easy to find and with 10 minutes of the M5. Friendly welcome at reception and the executive room was very clean and well laid out with a full work space. Free Wifi as always a great help. Had minute steak and garlic bread off the bar menu which was very pleasant and the bar staff very friendly and helpful. Good, clean and friendly Hotel with good food overall.

stay at this hotel but don't eat there! rooms were spotless, private party turned into noisy argument late at night in car park. all staff very good including very helpful cleaners. food is very overpriced for quantity and quality, breakfast very expensive if you only have continental. yogurt was best before the same day; pastries were cold small and soggy. eat at the Fisherman's cottage 4 miles up the road

« Really enjoyed the hotel »

We attended a friends birthday party and booked this hotel as it was near to the event. The staff were very helpful on arrival. Our room was huge and really clean. We had a view of the canal which was lovely. The staff rung taxi's for us and really could not do enough to help. The breakfast was a buffet which again was very good. We would definitely room to the hotel and would recommend this to others.

Very quiet hotel, we arrived on a Sunday evening and only one table already booked at the restaurant so we eat in the bar area. The staff were polite and helpful, the food was nice but nothing more to be honest. The room was OK, but the bathroom took you back to 70's really small and very out dated. Wendy eat the one night and no breakfast as it was £13, we even got charged for breakfast that we didn't even have. OK hotel but nothing to write home about.

    « Very enjoyable stay »

This hotel should be 4/5 star. Welcome greeting on arrival, clean bedroom and bathroom. All the staff very friendly. Breakfast enjoyable. Plenty of parking space. You just know when you walk down a clean corridor to the bedrooms that all would be fine.

The hotel looks more like a 2 star from the outside, however inside it is clean and standard level of accommodation, although a little dated in terms of look and decor. Room was very clean and functional, good bed and space. Bathroom was very dated with avocado suite but functional. Food in the restaurant was good, although a bit over priced for the area and standard level. slightly old fashioned. Service and staff were helpful and good. I was rather disappointed with lack of options for allergy substitutes. I am dairy and gluten intolerant and upon advising the reception and checking with the kitchen on arrival if they were able to accommodate this they had no milk alternatives at all for breakfasts over 2 days. It may be a small thing but having had to go and buy my own soya milk for two days is what I not expected especially as the price of the overnight stay for 1 was a tad high for a mid week stay for this area out of season. Free wifi was very poor in the room so could not use it.

« Just eat the pastries! »

Went to a weekend away with lots of farmers. Easy to find the hotel, easy parking. Reception staff were excellent when I kept phoning to change in advance whether 2 or 3 of us were going. The room was fine for eventually 3 adults including indecisive daughter (!) - cider went down very well, mass catering reasonable, and a la carte very good. Best things were the puddings - well done pastry chef - superb! They seem to have some interesting weekends coming up, but unfortunately is too far away for us to drive conveniently for a weekend.

This is an excellent hotel. It does not purport to be 5 star but it is good value and very comfortable/ staff are all nice / room was very good- plenty of sockets . Bar was good/ chef is a good cook and fair prices on four and drink. Slightly musty smell in my room and couldn't see how to open windows. Would recommend

    « Tea is a problem »

Don't try and get an evening cup of tea at this hotel, it took 35 minutes when I asked for three teas on a recent stay and only suddenly appeared when I asked for the duty manager. The manager said that she would refund the charge for the drinks but she never did There was a total of three people at the bar when the teas were ordered, so the staff were not rushed off their feet. Working in the travel industry myself I was looking for hotels in this area for my tour groups in 2016, I am afraid that poor service does not win any points when reviewing hotels. It is a pity because until that incident the hotel was a reasonable venue

    « Tiverton Hotel is a gem »

We have been to Tiverton Hotel many times before and it never disappoints. All staff are well-trained, courteous and helpful. From reception to room cleaning, everyone we met was a terrific advert for the hotel. Food was first class and so congratulations must go to those in the kitchen and all the waiting staff in the restaurant.

    « Good location »

This hotel is well situated for driving in and out of Tiverton and for local attractions such as RHS Rosemoor, Knighthayes House, Killerton Estate, Exeter etc. My superior room was very spacious, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were OK but didn't excite me, except the starters and desserts which were tasty and beautifully presented.

« Absolute 5 star staff, however few niggles »

Would love to award 5 stars as the welcome and friendliness we received from Ben and Frankie was excellent, it was a pleasure to come back after being out and always receiving a warm and friendly greeting and a bit of a chat with Ben or Frankie However the were a few things that prevent from awarding 5 stars Will highlight these first as want to end my review with the positives Noise ...2 very early morning unwanted disturbances. The walls are very thin,no apparent sound proofing. So 1st morning was rudely awaken by a banshee yelling down her mobile phone at 6.30,the content of the call was a load of rubbish and didn't really warrant disturbing other guests at 6.30 and going on for about 20 mins 2nd morning rudely awaken by neighbours very loud TV at 6am which went on until about 7.30 am. In hindsight we should have phoned down to reception and asked them to deal with it. So hope that you dont get inconsiderate people next to you as you may yourself being disturbed due to lack of sound proofing Also the plumbing from other rooms was very noisy, toilets flushing, taps and showers being run and bathroom fans being left on, sounding like it was in our room. Shower is just a trickle so took quite a while to have a good shower, so if anyone has long hair that needs a wash, you will be in for a very a very long shower Breakfast....oh dear first morning opted for the (hot) buffett and also asked for black pudding and poached egg. Most of the items from the buffet varied from just warm to cold throughout, sausages were cold throughout, beans lukewarm as was the other items. Really a pet hate of ours is lukewarm breakfast buffets, but I must add this hotel is not the first where we have experienced this. Also the saltiness of the black pudding and beans making them unpleasant to eat, which was a shame as the black pudding was cooked perfectly and not cremated but due to saltiness couldn't finish it. 2nd morning wouldnt risk the buffet so opted for mushroom omelette which was very good, but had to smile at the size of mushrooms in it, just the large pieces of mushrooms that were part of the buffet just thrown in, would have looked better had they been sliced ?. Must add that partner still opted for the hot buffett and said the food was warmer than it was previous day. One thing we didn't like was being served from the Buffett and not serving ourselves resulting in baked beans being "plonked "on top of the bacon. Usually buffets you serve yourself ? The cold buffett section was excellent and so refreshing to see decent ham off the bone and a very good cheese rather than the wafer thin ham and cheese you usually get in some hotels. Staff at breakfast were not that welcoming .,a nice smile and good morning would be nice ? Wi Fi.....hmm was poor, we were on 2 nd floor and it ranged from very intermittent from nothing at all. So that's a few niggles, tried to be honest and constructive and can only appraise how we found things. Positives...well Ben and Frankie a credit to the hotel wonderful young gent and lady. Our room was a surprise, so spacious, plenty of drawers, storage, well stocked hospitality tray and kept so clean, the cleaning staff so an excellent job as everywhere was spotless and tidy Location was great for us,though quite a way from the train station. 10 minute stroll to town and for anyone with walking difficulties it's all on the flat We never ate at night in the hotel, always find hotel restaurants souless and lacking atmosphere, not to mention over priced. Also like to support local pubs and restaurants when staying anywhere. Tiverton ..well, we could find 3 pubs, a few restaurants which were all closed other than th Chinese and Indian, we ended up eating at Weatherspoons which was a pleasant surprise, would definetly recommend, perfectly cooked, good sized steak chips peas, mushroom plus a free drink for under a tenner. So would have almost a perfect stay had it not been for the early morning disturbances and a rather lukewarm breakfast on the first day Many thanks again to the staff ....wish all reception staff were as professional yet friendly and welcoming as Ben and Frankie

    « Great Break »

This hotel is ideally situated in between the two coast lines. It is very welcoming and tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean throughout. Our room was spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated, with a comfortable king sized bed. It was very quiet despite the hotel being full. The staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The food was excellent with a good range to choose from at breakfast. We will be sure to return at some time in the future.

« Perfect for our walking break »

I was with friends, travelling by coach, on an Exmoor walking weekend. My sole occupancy room was big, with a large double and a single bed. Everything was clean, everything was in working order, though wifi a bit unreliable, probably because my room was about as far as you can get from Reception. I liked the well stocked hospitality tray and the nice big bath (with a shower over) Meals were good, hot, plentiful and very efficiently served by the helpful, friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

Previous experience of Best Western hotels has not always been good, so was pleasantly surprised by the standard of this one. I got an excellent room rate which included a very good breakfast as was attending a conference held at the hotel. I was given a huge family room with all I could wish for - numerous power points, free Wi- Fi, Iron, generous tea & coffee supplies. Bathroom was clean & bright with a 'rainwater' shower. Bed comfortable. The staff were helpful & friendly. So OK so of the facilities were stuck in the 70's - avocado wash basins in the Ladies but it was clean & well maintained. Would certainly consider returning if I needed to stay in Tiverton again.

Arrived to find a minor problem with our booking. Reception staff were brilliant in sorting it out. Room clean and comfortable and large. Good choice of food at breakfast and nicely prepared. Overall a good stay. Thanks BWT.

    « EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!! »

We were given a spacious ground floor room (my wife is in a wheelchair). Bed was super king size and comfortable. No teletext on TV so couldn't get football scores. Decent enough breakfast. Thought the cost of £145 was way over the top.

    « Business trip »

Hotel was easily accessible off the A361 in Tiverton. Plenty of parking and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was busy so I ate in the bar. The food and service was excellent as well as good value. My only issue is that as the hotel was very busy there was a sizable queue at breakfast and some of the cooked food items were cold.

    « Thoroughly enjoyed!! »

This was our first time to Devon as a couple and the 2 night stay was bought as a gift and we chose a room upgrade which was a great choice. The bed was a really nice big size and very comfortable. The room was clean and facilities readily available. It was room 26. The breakfast was nice and of good quality and service was quick. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as we chose to go out and eat. As a light sleeper I did wake up occasionally in the middle of the night to doors closing as the mechanisms were quite loud but nothing that really bothered me and the room was dark as well. No corridor lighting leaked in. I also worried as there was a wedding on the Saturday and thought we would have a disturbed night but I have no complaints at all. We were aware of more people being around and the car park being busier but the night was quiet as well. The tesco down the road was also very handy. It really is in a good spot and the fact the hotel has its own car park is a bit bonus. The one thing I do need to mention is that the walls are a little thin. My husband and I were watching a film on the TV and we could hear the person next door snoring. It was more funny than irritating and didn't notice it when we went to sleep. Other than this it was a really lovely stay. The staff are welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much to ask. There are also plenty of leaflets at the hotel to say what activities and days out are available. All in all I would choose to stay here again and would be happy to recommend it to anyone.
