« Good for the money »

Over all this was a good stay. Rooms were comfy but need a deep cleaning. Hard part was getting them to understand I needed 2 room next to each other I called before and after booking and still when I got there I had to change room types to get what I wanted. But it worked out and we would stay again for the price

    « Average »

One night stay. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Lobby and breakfast area was nicely appointed. Room was clean and decor was current. However the carpet was stained and worn. The fabric on the chair/ottoman had also seen better days. The desk chair was also worn. Breakfast area served typical cereals, scrambled eggs and such. The microwave at the breakfast area was out of order.

    « Affordable and clean »

This hotel is in a central location for Lake County, Florida. The rates are reasonable, the hotel is clean and breakfast is included. It is very close to restaurants, groceries, banks and a hospital. Great value!

« Wonderful place to stay »

This hotel is an excellent choice for any type of stay. The service, friendliness, cleanliness and comfort are far above the rest. The location is close to everything in the area. The complimentary breakfast is a mixture of quality foods and always enough to feed everyone even if the hotel is completely booked. Highly recommend this establishment for anyone of any age.

    « Nice hotel »

Solid three star hotel in good location. Hotel and room were clean and updated with modern furnishings. Beds and bedding were good, nice sized LCD TV. Washer/dryer available for guests at $2/load on 3rd floor.

    « Another restful stay! »

Love this hotel...never an issue when we come for a visit which is why this is our first choice. Starting with customer service at the front desk to amenities and housekeeping then breakfast in the lobby ending with a smooth check out our stay is always perfect.

    « Well kept property. »

Central location, property looks good, friendly and helpful staff, a very clean, quiet, and comfortable room. Met my needs and expectations. Had a great breakfast area which was included plus quick check in and out.

The manager of this place is a complete and utter jerk! We have to evacuate for the hurricane and we called and go a room for 2 nights, the day before arriving. I asked the man if dogs were allowed, he said yes. I FOUND the hotel on a pet-friendly hotel website!!!! He never asked any questions about my dog, he knew we were evacuating, just said "dogs are welcome". I pack up my children and our chocolate lab, say goodbye to our home not knowing if we'll ever see it again. We arrive at the hotel around 7pm and the two guys working the front desk check me in. I mention bringing the dog in and they say no dogs allowed. I tell them I already checked on it and was told she was fine to bring. They say no way can she come in. I ask to speak to the manager and they tell me he's not there. I'm in tears with my babies in the car and every hotel in the area booked and no where to go. So the first night my dog has to sleep in the car with windows open. In the AM I speak to the manager when he shows up at 9am. I ask him why I was told the dog was allowed if she's not and he says the person who told me she was is new and didn't no. THIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM. I said I have no where else to go and he argues with me saying he doesn't want animals in his hotelo, blah blah blah. He has 4 rooms he allows small dogs in that's it. I told him I hav eno where else to go with my babies and it's a hurricane hitting TODAY. He says "fine but I am charging you extra and a pet fee!!!!" I said fine and walked away. I paid almost $400 for 3 nights! One night I left and we went home when we got the all clear, but they charged us, which is fine since we did have the room booked. This guy took advantage of us, he's a disgusting man of character and I've never been so upset and angry in my life. The hotel itself is okay, the bathrooms aren't clean I had to bleach everything, but beds were decent and we had no choice but to stay there or drive to GA for a room. IF you actually read all this I would NOT give this place your money. I'm disgusted a manager could act so rude and disrespectful to a mom with her children who had to evacuate. The girl who does the breakfast was the only one there that was nice with a smile. Everyone there is miserable!!!!

    « Dirty bathroom »

We stay in this hotel at least three times a year. This time we stayed in a Junior King Suite. The room smelled musty and the bathroom was filthy! The floor was dirty and there was a crusted soap ring on the tub edge. The sink stopper had to be screwed on to fill the sink. The clock was set wrong; TG for my cell phone! Went to the vending machines and every single floor (if they had them) were practically empty except for M&M's.

« Best Western Hotel Tavares, Fl »

We have stayed at this Best Western Hotel 3 times this year and we consider it most likely that we will use them at least 1 more time in 2016 and 3 to 4 times in 2017. We have stayed in other motels/hotels in the area and consider this Best Western to be the best choice for us.

    « Exceeding Expectations »

I was staying in Tavares overnight for work and I booked a room at this hotel. When I arrived to check in, Rose, who was manning the front desk greeted me by name and got me checked in very quickly. My room was nicer than I anticipated and very comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was great as well. There was a lot of variety as far as the different options were concerned. Overall, I had a wonderful experience here and if I have to travel back to Tavares for work again I will definitely stay at the Best Western.

    « good stay »

the tv is bad no channel guide spoke to the front desk sent someone up the problem still was there the next day. the beds were comfortable and the stay was nice food was good. wish there was coffee or tea in the evenings

    « surprise »

kudos to the excellence of everything-the staff went out of their way to help, watching the tv in a clock tower, waterfall was fantastic, this is just the main lobby too...rooms were very spacious, the breakfeast was great too...

« In town for a baby shower »

At first glance the hotel looks fine and the lobby is nice. Our room was a different story. The AC wasn't working and it smelled musty. The corners of the bathroom were filthy and horrible gunk behind the bathroom sink faucet. The rooms need a good cleaning. I'll stay somewhere else next visit.

« A Great stay in Mt Dora »

Rose at front desk was a sweetheart. We really enjoyed our stay and plan on staying there again. Breakfast was good and a good selection offered. Lobby was supper nice and inviting. Did not have time to visit the pool, but looked clean and open for business.

    « Great as always »

We visit this hotel several times a year and there staff is always happy and dose such a great job it makes you want to return and we do , Breakfast Great pool Great and staff Great !!1 Ask for Larry Rose or Barbara. They are all outstanding esp Larry!!!!! and you too will return !!!!

    « Great Stay »

Great place, quiet, peaceful, clean, nice quiet pool area... Across from hospital. Close to shopping, food, etc. Very nice grounds, felt safe. abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz. should not have to write a book about this place in order to tell you all it was a great stay. but apparently this review site wants me to write a essay like i was in school

« Mount Dora Seafood Festival »

Was a bit skeptical to book after reading some reviews, but I am so happy that I decided to stay at this complaints whatsoever!!! Everything was perfect..very clean, comfortable and well kept.Staff very friendly...Price quite reasonable..I would most definitely stay here again..

    « Awesome experience »

Got a good nights sleep, very comfortable. Awesome attendants, extremely professional, very helpful. Good Quality, fair price! Breakfast was competitive however, if you are a real eggs type of person like me, my recommendation would be to loose the powdered eggs. The pool was extremely enjoyed by my daughter and granddaughter. The location was perfect, very clean and well decorated rooms.

« Ok for one nights stay for business, but I have had nicer rooms at the same price »

All of the staff I interacted with were nice. No issues there! however, it would have been better to have booked a room with a view of the pool, or to have specified I wanted to be away from the elevator. When I specified at booking time it was for business I mistakenly thought they would take these things into account.

« Leave the "Best" out of Best Western »

We checked into the Best Western Lake County Inn and Suites in Tavares, Florida on 7/29/16. The first room we were given had a strange chemical smell, so we moved to a different room. We dropped our stuff and went to have dinner. When we returned we looked around the room more carefully and were appalled at how dirty it was. There was a black ring around the tub. None of the countertops had been cleaned, not in the bathroom, the desk or the small kitchenette. The mirrors were filthy. There was a piece of dental floss hanging from the phone cord. It was late and we went to bed. The next morning, we stopped the maid in the hall and told her that the room needed a thorough cleaning and showed her what was wrong. On the way out, we mentioned it to the front desk. When we returned later that evening, the things we had mentioned had been taken care of, but no one had bothered to make the bed. The hairdryer handle was completely cracked. If you held it just so, it would work. At one point, I held it tightly and got it working , and then blew-dry my wife's hair. She took a picture and showed it to the manager, along with the rest of the complaints. He told her, and I quote: ?It's not my problem, it's the owner's problem.? She told him it IS your problem and he began shouting at her. Never in my life has a hotel manager taken the position that the customer's complaints about the hotel were not his problem. In addition to the problems with our room, the hallway carpets need a serious vacuuming or replacement, the vending machine on our floor did not work, and the internet was nearly useless ? hard to get on to, slow as dial-up, and constantly getting bumped off. Leave the ?Best? out of the Best Western ? find someplace else to stay in the Tavares/Mt. Dora area.

    « Clean Me! »

The exterior and lobby of this hotel are beautiful. The rooms were nice at first glance, but the bathrooms were not as clean as I would like, there was grime in the corners of the floor and "stuff" on the wooden sink vanity. You could see glue all around the sink basin just under the granite. The chair in the room was dirty as was the carpet. It felt gross on my feet. The kitchenette area had the same "stuff" on the sides and fronts of the wood. The air conditioning had to run constantly to keep the room comfortable and it was very noisy.

    « Comfortable and clean »

This was a very well kept Hotel with clean comfortable rooms, decent continental breakfast, Friendly Staff. For the price it was well worth it and I would gladly stay here again. IT was a good location for reviewing the Howey-in-the-hills area, Mount Dora, and Clermont, along with Leesburg area.

    « Handicap Nightmare »

The Guy working at night Larry was not helpful and confused the situation at hand further than needed. Then when the person arrived that I had an issue with their reservation he told her all about it which was no concern to her. We requested a Handicap 2 Queen room when we reserved the room and to our surprise that hotel does not have one and no-one contacted us so we could book somewhere else. My Husband who is in a wheelchair had to go down stairs to use the restroom for that day and night. Also he got into the bed and struggled to get out because his wheelchair could not fit between the beds. Once he finally got back into the wheel chair he would not go back into the bed in fear he would not be able to get up. The Manager was very nice and refunded our first night stay there and put us in a handicap room for the second night and my sister who stayed there as well slept in our room with our kids because we all would not fit on One king size bed! The next day while showering my Husband fell in the shower because the shower floor was wet from me showering as there was NO NON SLIP MAT on the floor. I told the lady at the desk I wanted a report made because my husband got hurt and she did nothing. My husband has scratches and bruises from this fall and she could not even take the time to ask any more she just checked me out and said have a nice day. Does your company care about handicap people ? Why would there not be a non slip mat on the floor so the people with disabilities don't get hurt? I had to struggle to get my 230 lb Husband off the floor because his feet and legs do not work. I would like a response from your company and your intentions to fix these issues. I don't want anyone else to have to go through what we did it was terrible!! I sent this email to the Corporate office on July 26 and have yet to receive a response from them. It's obvious this chain does not care about handicap people!! The Help there besides the two employees were very nice so I hate to click on the bad service link however between Larry the front desk guy who wasn't helpful or nice and the lady that didn't care about my husband falling ruined the other good service.

    « NO hot water...bathrooms moldy »

I did not have hot water for three days in this hotel. Since I paid through expedia in full before my stay the staff would not refund me so I could change the hotel. I had to take a sponge bath in the sink. The entire hotel had problems with the showers but did have hot water in the sinks.

    « Clean and Quiet »

I had an extended stay and was very pleased with this facility. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was quiet and clean and the housekeeping staff did a nice job every day. If I'm in the area again I will certainly choose this property. I recommend it.

    « very nice hotel »

Booked one night using free points. Hotel lobby was big, modern and very welcoming. Ample free parking and a quiet room for a superb night 's sleep in a wonderful bed. Amenities were great and even had a soft chair with matching ottoman. Good sized desk and chair. MW and fridge is handy. Location is great off 441 and easy to visit the area and its attractions. Breakfast was filling with ample choices from just coffee to a full hot breakfast, including fruit. Only negative is that in our 5th floor room, it took forever for the bath/shower water to drain out. Also the AC filter had not been cleaned, so we removed it and washed and replaced it.

    « Golf Outing »

Excellent staff, everyone was outstandingly friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, soft bed provided me with an excellent nights sleep. Television was in perfect working order and connection to the internet was flawless. Lobby and breakfast area is large and clean. Several choice items are offered for breakfast along with choice of beverages. Would absolutely stay here again.

    « hotel »

worth the money and the staff is pleasant . this is my choice hotel in the area in which i usually visit twice a month. and i look for other Best Westerns wherever i travel. It comes with a continental breakfast which is presented very well by a hard working young lady. Just remember to tip she is providing you with this whether you feel you paid for the service. Remember, whatever you put out, you will receive in return.

    « Bathroom not clean »

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The lobby looked was very nice and fresh. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Our room was in the 5th. floor. The room was clean and spacious but it smelled musty. Now the bathroom was another history. Looking behind the toilet was a big nasty stain.

    « Always a pleasure »

We live local, and this is our go-to get away. Always clean, always great service. Quiet hotel which we love. If your travels call for Lake County Florida, please stay here! Like I said, we re local. We have a bunch of kids. We need get- aways. We have tried so many local hotels and this is it for us.

« Not a good place to stay »

The room was damp and had a smell. Sink and shower didn't drain well. Tub area had "chips" missing. I'm not that picky, but I want a clean room and I didn't get it there. The motel doesn't focus on "detail" and it shows.

« Beautiful Lobby, Comfortable Bed »

I slept like a baby for the one night I stayed. The bed was extremely comfortable and even though it is off a busy-ish road, the hotel is further back and very quiet. Next time I am in the area, I will definitely stay again.

« Excellent Location for Touring Around Area »

We were in area for the Renninger's Longest Yard Sale for the weekend. This hotel had great prices and clean facilities. The Staff were friendly and courteous during the check-in and check-out process. It is a 'pet friendly' hotel (which I failed to notice when booking room). The only concern with that -- guests were allowed to hold their pets while in the 'eating area' of the breakfast nook. Didn't mind the pet in the sitting area; however, animals around open food didn't set well with us. Otherwise, the hotel met our needs, and had clean, spacious rooms (ours a king w/small kitchenette). When we first entered the room, there was a 'musty damp' smell which seemed to disappear later on. Our stay was one night only on the 3rd floor toward front of hotel...two doors down from elevator. Didn't notice any 'noise' from the elevator and the other guests nor the highway out front.

« No Service and no Management what's so ever ! »

We checked in after 8P for two nights. No Bell Captain, we will manage. Only the front desk agent on duty. I was asked to provide for a credit card for incidentals, mind you the room was prepaid in full and they are no outlets or restaurant, bar on property. The desk agent not at all pleasant, he took an imprint of my credit card on a registration card visible to all which is a security violation. I told him, you have no right to take showcase the card on any document, he told me I have been told to do it this way, and the software didn't allow to get a second credit card on the system. I told him the 4 last digits are the only thing you may show. I asked to speak to a manager, I was given a business card of the GM. I ask for him to contact me, as I felt there was a security breach here. Best Western shouldn't allow their hotels to such security credit card breach. We got into our room, the bathroom and entire guest room carpet was filled with trash needless to say we needed to address it. We waited 30 minutes to obtain another room the front desk agent the only employee working at the hotel told me he normally doesn't come to the room. We moved our luggage to the other room, and I wanted to show to the desk agent the area that needed attention, and he refused to take a look at the room he told me it wasn't his job. The next morning we had breakfast the set up was nice and the food was adequate, however the lady in the breakfast was very unfriendly, I said good morning I barely got a reply. I pointed out that the timer wasn't working on the waffle machine, and she told me it's not working. We left our room with the (Maid Service Sign) at 9:30AM and came back around 2:30P the room wasn't made, no big deal, we left again the room 2:45P I made sure the sign was on the door, Maid Service. We came back after 11P and the front desk agent night auditor, was actually very pleasant and greeted us nicely as we walked in to the lobby. I called the desk to mention the lack of maid service, didn't get any answer. I decided to leave it alone. The next morning we checked out and addressed my issue, again no one else, but a disgruntled desk agent who really didn't seem to care much at all. I'm not blaming the Agent per say, obviously not well trained and doing his best. If I had received a call or spoken to the GM I wouldn't have been forced to address this in public. I'm wondering what does it actually mean to be a Best Western Plus ? I never received any survey either, I'm wondering why. A one person hotel operation per shift, a serious flaw, no management presence. The hotel is rather new, however without any effort to any quality assurance, safety or customer service, good luck to you.

« Great hotel near the Sanford AutoTrain & Mt. Dora, Florida »

This is a perfect spot to be near everything if you are going on the AutoTrain or partying in Mt. Dora but with a wee bit more solitude. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is everything you could want. The pool was clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful with directions.

« Not a great experience at all »

I travel all over the country and I have never stayed in a Best Western that looked so pretty in the lobby and so filthy in the rooms. This hotel was considered a "non-smoking" hotel where as I entered and left daily, small groups of smokers hovered near the front entrance. When I entered my room on the first night, the room wreaked of cigarette smoke, as if someone had dumped an ashtray down the sink. When I called the front desk, the woman told me "You aren't smelling smoke because we are a non-smoking hotel. What you ARE smelling is the new stain that was painted on the furniture." Ok. I have lived long enough to know the difference between cigarette smoke and furniture stain. When I asked if she could move me to another room she didn't seem pleased with my request so I simply told her to nevermind--she did offer spray to give me however. I ended up going to CVS to buy Febreeze which the cashier forgot to place in my bag!!! Ugh....when I returned back to my room the next night, the smell was even stronger. I called down to the front desk again and it was a gentleman this time who stated he could have the spray downstairs waiting for me...he ended up dropping it off at my door and told me, "I will just leave it there but I can't do anything more because I'm really busy down here." I gasped at first, and then he made sure I knew it was a joke??? Odd. When he brought it to me it was a chlorine type of spray you use with laundry but let me tell you, I had to spray everywhere and didn't care---anything to not have to smell that odor and then go home with it. I had to sanitize my clothing in the washer when I got home and leave my suitcase outside to air out. Not only that, the room was filthy. I couldn't get over how unclean the room was in various areas. And the elevator had food sitting on the floors for the three days I was there--never cleaned up. I haven't had this experience in other Best Westerns before but I won't be going back to stay at that location.

    « Great Experience »

Was very impressed with the look and amenities. I stayed with my daughter at a Hilton Inn in Memphis area. the Best Western Plus was on a par with it plus the Best Western had a hot breakfast that you didn't have to pay for and it was less expensive. Will stay there again whn in the area.

« Comfy pillows soft sheets good waters pressure. Hot hot water hbo no jacuzzi / hot tub. Cool lobby yummy breakfast »

Slept like a rock. Quiet. Comfy. Everything in working order HBO comfortable bed friendly staff clean soft sheets disappointed that there was no hot tub as advertised on the website forever the water was very hot and the bathtub was very comfortable

« We did not have a good experience here! »

We did not have as good an experience here as we expected. The elevator was never swept or vacuumed over a 3 day time and it needed to be. Our room was not cleaned after our first night and we had to go down to the desk to get clean towels. The hotel needs to be spruced up due to broken and chipped tiles in the lobby; scrapes to the paint in the lobby and the breakfast area; the decor on the check-in desk is chipped and in need of paint; several of the windows in the breakfast area appear to have broken seals, which leads to fuzzy views through them; and the hall on our floor needed a really good vacuuming.

« Good value, great location »

Very convenient located for what I went to Tavares to do. Personnel was very friendly, and the breakfast was great. Close by all kinds of restaurants and shops, and only 10 minutes from Mount Dora, a very nice tourist attraction. Thank you!

    « A Great Place to Stay! »

This was an excellent spot. It was quiet and the breakfast was great, and everyone spoke English. We had stayed near Disney on International Drive. It was a zoo. We will definitely stay here again when we are in Orlando!

    « Linda M »

We travel to the Leesburg area about once a month and we love staying at the Best Western in Tavares. Very nice place, atmosphere, employees and beds are great! I would recommend this hotel and any other Best Western Plus to anyone traveling.

« Great property and great staff »

Stayed one night for business downtown Tavares. Location was close to downtown Tavares. Booked via Hotwire and was very pleased. Front office staff was very friendly and professional. Got a suite that was very roomy, clean and comfortable. Gym had treadmill, cycle and climber. Breakfast was excellent and included eggs, sausage and waffles. Coffee was also great. Very satisfied and will be back if I have the need.

    « Unwanted Visitors »

COCKROACHES and sand papers pillow cases!! Clerk at the desk gave me a can of raid bug killer. Need to use fabric softener in their sheets and pillow cases. over all looks of the motel was very good and friendly staff. Good breakfast.

    « just ok »

Reserved a room here for 2 nights to attend the Leesburg bike fest....the location was good for the money. Room was clean and the staff was friendly. Bed was comfy and the actual worked great. Our main complaint was the free breakfast. Yes, it was free and there was a assortment of breakfast foods, but the quality was not so good. The biscuits were hard (even as soon as they were brought out) and some of the breakfast pastries were hard. My husband thinks the scrambled eggs were out of a carton. The juice was watery. But the coffee was good and there was a nice assortment of creams. Also a good selection of fresh fruits and yogurts. The oatmeal was not bad, also with a choice of toppings. Would stay here again if coming for the bike fest.

    « It's been a while »

It's been a while since we have been here. But anytime family comes into town, and seeing as I live near Disney this is fairly frequent, they stay here. To be fair, there isn't a lot of choices in the area, but this is a good choice no matter what. Clean rooms, breakfast buffet, pool, friendly and helpful staff. I'd recommend anyone stay here.

« clean you room or replace cleaning staff »

the hotel was basically ok but the rooms need to be cleaned better. the breakfast was good the property was in good shape. but the redone bath room was not up to par flooring one old flooring let water go in edges causing mold and smell. bathe tub needs redoing all worn out and scratched.

« Poor treatment and manager was Claudia was screaming at me including the hotel director »

best western in fort myers the manager was knocking in my door at 2 am in the morning with me hanging the do not disturb door because i was too singing she said she did not call my the room or nothing she was just keep knocking at the door and be mean she tell me to get out of the room because you black and I tell them to give me the moneys back and the director of the hotel call me to insult me saying you too loud is this a way to treat a customer that very discrimination just because i was singing they did not offer me no other option but both of them was cursing at me then i pack my stuffs and leave.

« Initially, this was not my first choice for a hotel... »

When planning my reservation for a hotel in Tavares, my preference was to stay at another well known hotel chain for my 3-nites there. But---the other chain's rates were OVER $40/night more (this is ridiculous for similar hotels!). So, I checked other hotel's prices and landed on the one for this Best Western, and was pleasantly surprised. One thing advertised on their hotel amenities is the 'continental breakfast' which to me usually means a donut and a cup of coffee and maybe some juice. But instead, a full breakfast was included, and there were plenty of items available that weren't loaded with sugar. This a was a pleasant and very welcomed surprise, because to me, being able to eat where one stays not only saves money, but is very convenient as long as the food is decent----which this was, and I don't usually have to eat again until mid-to-late afternoon again. Not fine dining, but decent. My only complaint (which I voiced to the desk attendant at checkout time) was that the bathroom had a moldy smell, which he said he would make a note of and pass along to housekeeping. Moldy smelling bathrooms seem to be a curse in most hotel rooms no matter where one stays, and hotels should find a way to cure that. Only because of the moldy smell did I not give this hotel a 5-star rating, because everything else was satisfactory to me. The room also had an in-room safe included in the daily rate, which was very convenient too. The outdoor pool was a little chilly, but usable once one got used to the water temp.

« Place needs a good detailed cleaning »

I stayed here by accident, we usually stay in Leesburg but I made a mistake making the reservation. This is a fairly new building and look good from the outside and the lobby is nice and clean but the room and other public areas need attention. Our bathroom was not very clean on the floor and base boards. A lady we talked to at breakfast had the same problems and said she would never stay again and we will choose Leesburg location the next time we stay

« Good Quality and Reasonable Price »

Clean and comfortable. Close to restaurants and shopping. Full breakfast is a plus. Nice walking area along the town waterfront. Entrance to hotel can be tricky if going south/east. I recommend making a U turn and enter the driveway from the opposite direction

    « Disappointed »

This hotel had come recommended: perhaps we just had bad luck, but we were not impressed. The rooms, halls and public areas were simply not clean. We had to change rooms when we arrived in our original room to find that that toliet had not only not been cleaned, but not flushed since last used. Front desk staff were disinterested, and we didn't feel welcome at all, or that our business was valued. Had an issue with a missing item in the morning, and they would allow us to return to our room for 1/2 hour to search our suitcases (although housekeeping staff said that they were happy to accomodate us), so, to our embarassment, we had to open our suitcases and sift through things in the middle of the lobby. Breakfast options were good, but breakfast staff harried to the point that we felt we were bothering her by being there.

« Tavares Florida, Best Western »

We were in Tavares for the birth of our grandbaby. It was nice that the hotel was directly across the street from the hospital. The staff were very friendly and professional,, the hotel very clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend the Tavares Best Western.

    « Affordable and clean »

We were a party of 10 people with 4 different rooms. Everyone's experience was slightly different but overall rooms were clean and comfortable. Most of the staff was helpful and pleasant. We did have a few complaints. The pool was frigid - not usable and the hot tub was gone even though the website still shows it there. The exercise room's AC was broken. At 80+ degrees it was unhealthy to work out. I really would have expected a discount because those were 3 items we were all looking forward to. One of our group needed a toilet unplugged in the late evening but his request for even a plunger was ignored until morning. I feel bad for the housekeeper stuck with that. Otherwise I will probably stay there again but negotiate a better price.

« Good breakfast, poor pool »

I chose this hotel because it was close to the Osprey Lodge, where I was visiting a friend, and it was decent quality. It had a really good hot breakfast in the morning (eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit), but the outdoor pool was small and unheated, so it was cold when I went in March. And no hot tub, which I would have liked. The pillows are all big and too thick for my liking - I prefer down pillows. Overall, it was fine, but not exceptional.... but for this price and location, I would go again.

« Excellent hotel with too hot fitness center »

Excellent hotel except for the fitness room which was kept very hot and had no ventilation to speak of. I had to buy my own fan to use in the fitness center. Staff tried to help with the thermastat in the fitness center but only once was it comfortable.Otherwise this was an excellent hotel, we were there for 28 days and everything else was fine

« Affordable, clean and convenient »

I had flown into Sanford fairly late and was driving to the west coast. This place was just what I needed; a comfortable, quiet, clean and convenient location to my route. The first room assigned to me, however, had a strange odor. The front desk was obliging and sent me to a much better room. The breakfast is quite good, with many choices.

« Best Western Tavares - Clean, Average »

Good hotel. Not to fussy staying at a hotel that also allows pets. The rooms are clean but average. The hot breakfast was average, but not the greatest - greasy & heavy. Lots of restaurants in the area. The laundry room needs some attention - couple of machines not working and a little too dusty for folding clean clothes.

    « Wonderful place to stay !!!!!!!! »

My family stayed here during a horrible family mater at Florida hospital across the street on January 10 and 11 2016 my little sister tiffany was on life support and was being taking off the next day the staff was more than helpful and kind I wanna say the front desk staff was named Mike he has been there 10 years he got us a king suite a very clean and nice comfortable room we were very happy and pleased other family members again well taking care of got double queen suite rooms those rooms were nice comfortable and clean as well 2 flat screen tv's I'm all suite rooms again very clean we will be staying at more best western in the future now please if your stopping through town our visiting a loved one at the hospital directly across the street this hotel will definitely take care of you thanks best western for the hospitality you showed me and all my family the Blake family

« Diamond in the ruff »

Very economical place to stay. Very clean grounds and through out the hotel. The only distraction upon entrance a new construction of another business. The rooms was very clean. The breakfast was the standard, better than continental. Enjoyed my stay.

    « Nice Stay »

We came to an event in Mount Dora and I found this hotel. We were very happy with the room. The breakfast was good, above average. It was conveniently located right off the highway, but far enough back that the noise was not a factor. We would stay again.

    « Nasty Place »

They put all the money into the lobby and not in the rooms. The room shower was dirty with hair. Damage in the room was badly repaired. There was a leak in the ceiling at one time and the stain was badly hidden with paint that didn't match. Decor was old and furniture was broken with missing handles. It looked like the baseboard was kicked in in one area. There workout room consisted of 3 old cardio machines. I couldn't even find skim milk at breakfast. The employee at the desk joked with me that it was early and she was in a bad mood. There was another employee in the dining area complaining about how the hotel operation wasn't doing something right. Misery all around. I just wanted to get out of there.

    « A Gem of a Find »

Beautiful area.Near Mt.Dora which is a Quaint town with plenty of Antiques and restaurant shops etc. This hotel met our expectations as we prefer Best Western in Europe...Glad to find such a gem.We were there for a family funeral,so having great accomodations was pleasant.

« Best Western Tavares Florida »

Excellent hotel. Clean. Beautiful decor. Great location. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Wonderful staff. Comfortable beds. Expecting continental breakfast. Had full breakfast - cereals, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, bagels, breads, danishes, eggs, bacon, sausage, juices, coffee, hot chocolate. Great savings from having to go to restaurant to buy breakfast.

« Best Western in Tavares is Excellent! »

This is a very nice hotel--clean, comfortable, and the breakfast is very good. I chose this hotel because I've had good luck with Best Westerns overall and the price here was the lowest in the area on the evening we visited. The room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable and the overall atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing.

« Stay at Tavares Best Western. »

My second stay at this hotel. Both times have be great experiences, and a great value too. I didn't consider any other hotel for this second stay. Just made reservations at the Tavares Best Western. I was not disappointed with my choice.

« Needs some updating in rooms »

Not the cleanest. Many things worn. The ceiling had a poor patch on it from a leak, and the bedspread had stains on it. Many chips in the furniture. Bathroom not the cleanest. Lobby was very nice. Breakfast was OK, our stay they had many other groups there, so no place to sit, and there were all these huge signs in lobby and hallway that you not take the food to your room. Too cold and windy to go outside and eat. They had a hard time keeping the food trays full. We ended up going out for breakfast elsewhere because of the issues.

    « My cousin's death »

We had to arrange my cousin's funeral and then clean out her home. This was not a pleasure trip but our experience with the BW hotel made our not so pleasant trip a lot easier to bear. The staff was very cordial and sympathetic to our needs. Our rooms were exceptionally clean and the beds were very comfortable. I have stayed in this hotel before and had the same great experience. I would recommend this to anyone staying in the area.

    « Needs Improvement »

When I booked this stay (6 nights) they told me the only pet room they had was a King suite which was going to cost me $180 with the pet fee. When I arrived I asked them if they had anything else available because I really didn't need a suite. They found a room with 2 queen beds was about $40 less. I think they were just trying to fill the most expensive rooms first. The pet fee they charge is too high. We stayed at other Best Westerns where they charged half that price or no fee at all.

    « Lovely lobby »

I think this must have been a Hampton Inn at one time as the lobby is set up the same way. It has been well kept up. Beds were comfortable. Rooms ample. Has a 2nd sink which is nice. Breakfast was well stocked and kept nicely. Not much to walk to. Clean.

    « A Luxury Hotel at a modest price! »

My stay at this Lake County Inn Best Western in Florida was a pleasant surprise. The hotel had many amenities; the king bed suite was super clean and upscale, and the hotel lobby and hallways seemed much more than a Best Western quality. The staff was very friendly and the price of the room was modest. This is probably the finest hotel in the Mount Dora area!

    « quiet and clean »

this is the 4th time that I stay here when I visit family. The rooms in this hotel are always very clean its very quiet at nite and you are always able to get a goods nite rest. Some people at the front desk are friendly but It seems to be that there is one older man in the front desk that always has a very bad attitude in the way he treats the guest. The breakfast is great.

« Annual Christmas light search »

Hotel service very good but, we got a room with a bad odor i.e.: mold or mildew. We should have asked for another room but, were exhausted so we put up with smell. Appeared to come HVAC unit. Room clean, beds good. Will ask for another room should this happen again...

« pet friendly and customer too-woof ,woof »

loved the interior decor could of had more fruit and more choice at breakfest this is orange country, our was sorry that u are hiddend by large construction going on in the front of the hotel on rte 441

    « Two day getaway »

Very nice Inn, asked for top floor for a view and the view was awesome. Great location for local attractions. As always Best Western always has the best continental breakfast, with room for many guests.

« Changeable pricing for the same room was an unpleasant surprise. »

We had enjoyed our previous stays at this property, but when we went to book a week-long stay in late October/early November, the price per night had almost doubled. Their excuse was a local festival weekend that made the rooms more desirable. We went to the Leesburg Best Western for a significantly lower price, and equally nice accommodations. This hotel is most convenient to our son's home, but for the price difference, we willingly drove a few more minutes. The property, the service, and the breakfast were all very nice, which is why we wanted to return, but not for the significant price boost. In addition, they have a nightly charge for our small dog, but really nothing to justify the extra expense--they didn't do any extra cleaning or provide anything extra, just charged $25 per night. Next time we travel with a dog, we will look into La Quinta which does not charge any extra for a little dog.

« manager was kind of a dick »

overall was clean and breakfast was good for the price we paid. pillows and linens and beds were fine. was quiet enough. were stains on the chair and ottoman, which was a bit creepy. I asked the manager (who was training someone) about there cancellation policy as well as the best door to park near for our room and his roundabout answer was delivered in a surly tone for the most part... no necessary and thought it was a bad example to set with the trainee. so no one accuses anyone else, the guy was white and prob around 60 yrs old, hard face... no smile... you know the guy :0

    « Renningers »

We were going to Renningers Extraveganza and had an incredible trip. The antique show was a huge hit and we spent the whole day enjoying the uniqueness of all the exhibitors. They even extended our check out 2 hours. Made it really nice. Mt Dora was beautiful and the weather for November was spectacular.

« Good lodging for a good price »

I had to book last minute for a wedding and was fortunate to find a room at all as it was race weekend in Tavares. I was apprehensive of the 'last available' place to stay but I think i got lucky. The room was very nice, clean and well appointed. I would stay there again. Good price as well.

    « Not bad »

One night stay in November 2015... Public areas are very nice.... Room, hit or miss....Bed, tv, and room size were good... Smell of mold, probably from ac, bathroom dirty floor, old and lots of hairs, and chipped furniture throughout.... Not deal breakers by any stretch of the imagination....Probably would stay again assuming I received a decent rate...

    « An average place »

Check in was quick, but the desk agent lacked in friendliness. The rooms were good size, had small kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator and sink. Lighting was good. Plenty of mirrors, AC worked well. Bathrooms had plenty of towels, but had mold and hair and stains all around. Breakfast was basic and ok. Hallway carpeting was worn and stained and the hallway was HOT and musty smelling. Pool area was basic. I was the only one using it. Towels were supplied. Check out was quick and this agent was very friendly.

« Best Western of Lake County »

I stayed at this hotel in the past. It is very clean and well maintained. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Feb. of 2015 had to go to Florida on personal business. I unfortunately stated in another hotel and was very much disappointed. On my travel, I passed the Lake County Best Western and looked at it wishing that I stayed there instead as I been there before on many occasions and was never disappointed. This time I stayed there and was not disappointed. It was like coming back home. same staff there to welcome you. And they remember you. When I return to Florida, I will stay there again. I highly recommend this hotel. And yes, they have a nice breakfast, great way to start one's day.

    « Great staff »

I highly recommend the Best Western in Tavares, Fl due to the cleanliness of the property and the professionalism of their staff. The staff, especially Barbara, went out of their way to assist me and saved me some very valuable time as I was able to watch my grandson play in a State High School golf tournament. The whole staff was very courteous and willing to assist in any way they could to make our stay a very pleasant experience. Thank you

    « Clean, comfy bed »

Nothing fancy but nice clean place with a comfy bed. Good location in Tavares. Short drive to Mt. Dora. Hard to find entrance off the highway with the construction out front. Pool is small but clean. Just a couple minute drive to the lakefront in downtown Tavares with nice park and local restaurants.

    « Tavares Best Western »

We had a family member admitted to Waterman Hospital which is directly across the hwy from this hotel. Had a great experience here. Hotel is very clean and Comfortable. When I have to go back to the Mt.Dora Florida area, I will be staying at this location. This location is very convenient to good restaurants also.

    « Good Night's Sleep »

We were in town for the Mount Dora Craft Festival and couldn't find anything closer than this Tevares Best Western. It wasn't much of a drive over to Mount Dora so worked out fine for us. The hotel is a little hard to find off the main road but once you understand the construction surrounding it, it was easier. The hotel is clean and quiet despite being completely illdd up. The rooms are clean with a little kitchenette area. The mirror & sink is in the bathroom, not outside of it. Ample room with desk & chair and other side chair. Beds were comfy as usual. Cool inside the room but warm/hot in the hallways. Breakfast was the typical faire with hot scrambled eggs, sausage patties & usual cold breakfast items. It was an uneventful stay, great for business but probably not a romantic getaway. Hope this helps.

« Best Western Plus Lake County Inn & Suites Review »

My girlfriends & I booked 2 rooms here as were participating in an Art Show in Mt Dora. It was about 20 mins. from our booth in the show and an easy drive. Hotel was clean, room was comfortable - had a nice kitchenette area with microwave, coffee make, fridge and sink. Room and bathroom were clean - beds were comfortable. Had trouble with the wi-fi, but that could have been us not having the correct password. Breakfast was ready, hot and had a lot of variety. Would stay there again.

« Nice hotel, good value for the money »

This hotel was clean and the staff is friendly. I was pleasantly surprised because the hotel was a little "upscale" in terms of appearance for a hotel at this price and in this category. The rooms are big. The only thing I didn't like was that the fan in the bathroom goes on with the light, so you have to hear the fan whenever you turn the light on - no big deal really. I would stay there again without a doubt.

    « Great experience »

My stay at this hotel was the most enjoyable stay I have had this year. The staff and the hotel were first rate. And I felt the rate charged was a great value. I would by all means, stay here again. And I would recommend this Best Western to others.

    « Excellent Hotel Experience »

I always stay at Best Western hotels when I travel but this was one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed at. The atmosphere was great and the staff was great. The breakfast was excellent too. I cannot find any better hotels than this one. It's one of a kind. Great job to all staff members.

    « Cockroach on Wall? »

9-12-15 Hello...this hotel was gorgeous but the 5th floor reaked of Cigarettes......we were told that a guest smoked in his/her room and was not supposed to (of course it was across from our room) lucky were we? ......there was a HUGE COCK ROACH on the wall by the kitchen (and yes I took a few photos).....the front staff, Susan was VERY nice and made delish cookies!......the sheets had a "damp" feeling...not sure what that was about.....the breakfast was ok...we got there at 9:15am and the oatmeal was almost gone, and there was no coffee....(only decaf)....the price was fantastic at only $72.00 per night...there is a lot of construction going on and we had a heck of a time finding where the entrance was!

« Best Western gives you your money's worth. »

Clean hotels, helpful, friendly staff and if something is wrong it is fixed immediately. Internet service was excellent. The only thing detrimental for the hotel in Tavares, Florida is access from the highway. No signs are posted and it can be difficult. Something should be done to direct traffic to the way in. Otherwise, quiet and up-to-date.
