« An OK hotel, but tricked while booking due to false advertising »

Have chosen this hotel due to a special deal advertised on the hotel website that included "Breakfast & Dinner". The receptionist was not aware of this deal even though it was on the itinerary. After talking to her manager she explained that included "Breakfast&Dinner" meant a free desert if dinner is purchased. I would not have any issues if this would be explained clearly prior the booking was made and not after.

« Great base for the region »

My one night stay here was characterised by really pleasant staff. A warm friendly reception and welcome, pleasant room service, and an efficient and personal farewell. I didn't need a knife and fork for my burger and chips from room service, which is just as well, as they didn't come on the tray and I was too tired to be bothered calling for some. And the slope on the shower floor which took water away from the drain, into the main floor area didn't really matter as there was a spare towel to do the soak up. This hotel is really convenient to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and was easy to find. It has a generous sized car park, but it might be hard to find a spot if the hotel is hosting a function when you arrive. In summary, some minor inconveniences which were overwhelmed by exceptionally nice staff!

    « Excellent »

Booked this place due to proximity of the Hospital (5 min walk) Welcoming and friendly staff at front desk. Bar and restaurant open until 9pm and as we arrived late, were pleased with the stocked mini bar! and the coffee pod machine was a bonus Rooms very comfortable and clean, lovely comfy bed and huge shower Great blackout curtains . Stayed 2 nights to visit family in hospital only wish I could have stayed longer, although would like a gym or pool as theres not much around, apart from a lovely walk around the lake. Best ever Thai restaurant next door . Buses leave outside Hospital and can take you to Maroochydore Maloolabah or Caloundra also

« Next door to Hospital »

Great for health staff and patient families to stay. Great Thai place just around the corner and breakfast and coffee spots. The restaurant has specials each night. Brand spanking new, nice and clean with a decent amount of space in rooms. Most rooms do no have a nice view of the canals. Limited undercover car parking. Location is out of the way from the beach and everything else, but sunny coast traffic is easy and doesn't take long.

« Great location and modern hotel »

The first time we have stayed here and will be back when next in the area. Good sized, clean, comfortable and well-appointed rooms. Restaurant dining in the evenings is excellent. Buffet breakfast is good value. Some of the Breakfast staff could do with better training. Overheard one of them when asked what was included in the buffet, replied: "Oh, bacon, eggs and stuff". Not up to the standard of the rest of this property. The same waitress walked past our cooked breakfast sitting on the kitchen servery several times whilst she cleaned and reset tables with our breakfast eventually served cold. Skip the A la Carte breakfast in favour of the buffet and avoid suffering the same fate.

    « Mr traveller, »

In general, this hotel is fairly suitable for a short stay if you are not looking at spending much time at the hotel. It closes to all the convenient shops and a beautiful lake, park. Great environment. But the hotel facilities is not enough if you want to spend a little more time there.

    « Perfect little getaway »

Great parking, bed was comfortable. Room Service fantastic - the lady was really nice. TV - smart type so we could log into our Netflix. Wasnt a big fan of the open shower and toilet prefer enclosed shower but we did get the disability access room so not sure if other rooms are the same set up. I loved the bath robes maybe disposable slippers to go with I kid! Charge everything back to your room number was a good experience. You can hear a pin drop in the foyer tho maybe some music?

    « satisfied »

location is excellent ,room is quite ,friendly staffs and we very much appreciative that breakfast was included in our stay even though We didn't book our stay on best western website . I'm always looking for deal when booking for a long stay.

    « Close to hospital »

A little off the beaten path for tourists but right next to hospital. Very quiet area. Reception staffed 24hrs and staff were very friendly. Rooms spacious with king bed, couch and desk. Mini bar, large TV, no pay per view but FOX movies available. Lovely bathroom, huge shower but toilet facing shower is a bit tight. Overall generous rooms with nice amenities. The buffet breakfast was included in our rate, great choice of hot dishes plus continental. A la carte available also. Not many car parks for the size of hotel but I believe additional parking around the corner. I would recommend a stay here

    « Pleasantly surprised »

I was a little worried booking into a Best Western. But we were going to a party, so weren't going to be in the room for long & the pictures looked good. We were so surprised. It's a brand new hotel, right next to the hospital. We have a nice view of a small lake. Everything is new. & clean. The bed is very comfortable. We had cheese crackers & a wine in the restaurant mid afternoon which was lovely. The staff were also very nice. Highly recommend this hotel.

« New, modern and clean »

Nice and new, very quiet spot right on the lake. Staff were very friendly and food was fantastic, had one of the best fillet steaks ever followed by a great Affogato for dessert. Close to University Hospital and cafes and many kilometres of walking paths around the lake. Only 50 minute drive north of Brisbane.

    5
    « Good for price »

Nothing too special about this hotel but the reception staff were very welcoming and the rooms were very clean. I'd say good value for money. Quick drive to moolalaba or the University if visiting friends there. Currently there are a few construction sites around if that kind of thing bothers you but we were not at all disturbed.

« Very friendly staff and great room »

I stayed here for 1 night while working in the area and was very happy with the experience. Reception desk staff were most helpful and welcoming. The room was of good size, modern and extremely clean. I travel regularly and found the bed to be one of the most comfortable I have experienced. The curtains darken the room very well for sleeping and I heard no noise from other rooms or the hallway. Add a pool and I will stay here each time I am in the area. Very Happy.

    « One Night »

One night stay several months ago. Top floor with breakfast included. Clean and functional room with amenities that you would expect in a 4 - 4.5* hotel. Comfortable bed but let down with only very high loft pillows. Bad news on my neck but wife said she was okay. Good black out curtains and good functional bathroom. Breakfast selection was good, no issue there. All the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and polite. I have seen some negative comments in this regard but it was not our experience. Maybe some reciprocal attitude????. We weren't there long enough to check out the area but we did enjoy a very nice dinner at the local Thai restaurant. Would we stay again? Yes but please give some pillow choice.

« Very Wheelchair friendly with front of house staff who show initiative to help »

I can't speak highly enough of this Hotel, from the wheelchair-accessible car parking right outside the entrance; to the front of house / concierge staff who show initiative in assisting you with baggage to and from your car / room; to the restaurant staff who remember you and offer a personalised experience; to the great food both in the restaurant and through room service and the totally wheelchair accessible room with wheelchair-friendly shower. I traveled as a coach for a basketball tournament and the service provided by the staff at this hotel made this a completely stress-free experience. The fact the hotel was set out so well to suit my needs as a wheelchair user and the front of house staff anticipated when I might need help means I will come back here time and again for holidays and recommend to anyone I can.

    4
    « Great location for a stay »

The hotel is well located for visiting the the hospital and various other locations around the Sunshine Coast. It is on the canal and views are good. The room is big and clean with a great bed. The bathroom is also good with everything you need. The restaurant has a good menu and breakfast provides a good start to the day.The only problem was the loud air conditioning and fridge. At night we had to turn off the air conditioning, and I wanted to unplug the fridge but it was built into the cupboard.

    « Fantastic Hotel! »

We stayed here in January while searching the Sunshine Coast for investment properties, and the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana proved to be the perfect choice for our stay. Upon arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming, and were prompt in issuing room keys and providing information about the area. The room itself was well set out, and the rain shower head was a welcomed fitting in the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, contributing to the fantastic sleep we all got at this hotel. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, and will be returning in the future.

    « Hospital visit »

Loved the vibe from wildflower restaurant in the foyer. Raja at reception was so friendly and what I'd call a professional concierge. We stayed for 4 nights, got to know the staff well whom made us feel welcome with the friendly, warm nature.

    « Best Western Kawana »

Best Western - Great little hotel, clean well run, management and staff very professional - great service, prompt, well priced, good location, carpark accessible. Good menu, wine list good, in room services great

« Excellent hotel with great facilities »

This is a hotel that l know use regularly for trips to the Sunshine Coast, whether on business or for leisure. It has a high standard of accommodation and is always reasonably priced for what it can offer. Its service is consistent and its staff very helpful.

« Would be a great hotel however falls short with attitude »

The staff at this hotel seem to be ether self entitled or underpaid. It's the only excuse I can think of for the poor customer service you receive at check in and the continued eye rolling and death stare every time you enter or exit the lobby. The room is great, hotel is in pretty good condition.. Just need new management who can train staff on how to treat guests. I would hate to have to stay at this hotel if u needed to visit the hospital with these staff, how about show compassion and be friendly. Now let's see if the manager writes a passive aggressive response to me like he has previously.

    4
« Nice hotel but away from centre hub of the Sunshine Coast »

We had a lovely stay at BW Lake Kawana. The Hotel is brand new therefore the rooms are in perfect order however it is located away from the centre and the beaches so you need a car to get to places. Food options especially for dinner are very limited.

    5
« Comfy Hotel and Very Friendly Staff »

We stayed at the Best Western Lake Kawana Hotel recently for the first time. The staff were welcoming, and we had some excellent meals at Wildflower Restaurant, which is situated next to the Hotel check-in area. The Room was a great size, with a King bed and the most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on. On arrival, the Room was very clean and well decorated. In addition to the bed there was a single lounge chair, long chaise, small side table and a desk and chair. There were ample lamps in the room if the main lights were not used. We would agree with other Reviewers that the aircon is loud, even with the fan setting at Low. We found a fix for that at night was to change the ?cool' setting on the air control dial to ?dry' (by tapping with finger on the relevant setting) which turns the aircon into a dehumidifier, and that setting was less noisy and still kept the room comfortable. We also agree with other Reviewers that the position of the toilet does not allow enough room when sitting, and one comes into contact with the glass shower screen, meaning I had to sit ?side-saddle' on the Loo in order to avoid contact with the shower screen. Also, the Vanity tap was a little stiff and notchy to operate. None of these issues detracted from our enjoyable stay. Before booking, we researched the location, and knew that it was in a new area still under construction. It's only minutes to shops and beaches by car, and approx 15 mins drive from Maroochydore Airport. The Hotel is situated on a Lake, which has many klms of enjoyable walking paths. As our stay was over the Xmas period, the surrounding area was quiet. We noticed a new shopping centre is in the planning, and this will enhance an already great area. Would we stay at the Hotel again? Absolutely yes.

« Great Christmas party venue »

We attended the Skal International Sunshine Coast Christmas party and were looked after expertly by General Manager John Orning and his fantastic staff. The food was lovely and backed by great service. The views over the lake system at night were an extra lovely treat. Well done.

« Stayed here after eye surgery on the Sunny Coast »

These guys could not have been more friendly and helpful. It is a real family feel and am very happy that we stayed there and would definitely stay again. The beds were very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Awesome place.

« the restaurant let you down »

good everything around restaurant bad manners , bad food , a lack of the sense of the customer services and customer satisfaction the staff ( one of the staff deals with people as he's in his own fish and chips shop regards Said

« Spacious, modern, walk to hospital »

Chose this hotel for proximity to hospital. Was pleasantly surprised, very modern, new and spotless. Spacious rooms, large TV, large and comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom with large towels. Easy check in with friendly and helpful staff. Parking at the door close to the elevator. Five minute walk to hospital. Highly recomend, will definately stay again even if we dont have a hospital appointment. Quiet location away from tourist strip but only 5 minutes from beaches and shopping.

    5
    « Spotless »

Very impressed with the hotel, was visiting Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Although I have mobility issues I found the hotel to be within easy strolling distance both before and after my procedure. Good facilities within the hotel, good restaurant and coffee shop within 100 metres if you want cheaper food options. Easy and plentiful free parking, allowed us early check in and were friendly yet professional. Highly recommended for those visiting the Hospital.

    4
    « Peaceful and Relaxing »

This is a brand new hotel where the builders have not yet returned to iron out the minor problems, one of which was our room door, which the management admitted needed easing (around a 15 minute job) as it was sticking at the top. The room was one adapted for a disabled person. If I would have been wheelchair bound I would not have been able to open the door. I am not aware or came across any other problems with the building. The hotel is everything you would expect from a 4.5 star hotel, the housekeeping is first class and the staff are friendly and helpful. It would be nice of a hotel of this calibre to have heated towels.

    4
    « Kawana Water stay »

This was an excellent place to stay for a conference within the facility. It is also close to the Sunshine Cast University hospital. The walk around the lake is very pleasant and relaxing. The room are quiet and makes for a good night sleep. Concerns are that if you do not have a car there a limited close by options for food and also it is a reasonable walk to the beach if one is not fit and mobile. Lacks a pool and gym.

  • 5
« Great stay and great spot for a conference »

Went for conference with young family and we all found the stay very comfortable. The conference room was lovely and overlooking the water was a great feeling whilst being on a working holiday. The room sizes are very generous and the overall presentation of the hotel was clean and the staff were extremely friendly. The chef was very accommodating for dietary requirements and the food was very tasty. I found having the hospital close was a bonus as I had business to attend there. The cafe's around were great and the suburb was very inviting. Great roads, great biking and running footpaths.

    3
« Spacious room, comfy bed, noisy ac »

We stayed overnight after a wedding, the area is very new with a beautiful big new Sunshine Coast University Hospital metres away. The staff were very friendly and the undercover parking and entrance was certainly welcome as it was pouring with rain. The lift, hallways and room were all very clean and the huge bed very comfortable. The curtains also made the room very dark. The only criticism I have is that unfortunately the fan on the ac was so loud all night I didn't sleep much longer than a few hours, no matter what setting it always seemed to be on high.

    4
    « Finally »

Finally, a quality hotel in a great location at a sensible and reasonable rate. Combine that with quality rooms and terrific, friendly staff and a great restaurant, the Best Western Lake Kawana on the Sunshine Coast is just about perfect for business travellers. My only suggestions would be to offer a late night menu that cater for arrivals after 9.30pm and a shower option with a bit of pressure. The rain head is nice but I do like pressure to help recover from a full day in planes and automobiles. Highly recommend.

    4
« Overnighter away for work »

Rooms cater for short term, overnight stays. Not really suited for longer stays if you like to cook for yourself as these facilities were minimal. Everything else was excellent and was most comfortable bed.

    4
    « Great clean room »

Clean room comfortable bed, the menu looked yummy but we didn't stay for long enough to try it. staff not approachable , we waited in line for 5 mins before we even got approached the guy was too busy using the computer.love the price and location we will definitely be recommending

    5
« great place to stay »

great, clean , modern place to stay. We were a family of 4 and plenty of room, the kitchenette came in handy, had everything we needed.Though it wasnt in a holiday type zone, as it was more in a buisness park, it was only a short drive to main drives and freeways, was a really good location.

    5
    « Super spacious! »

This was a very last minute stay after an Airbnb went wrong! We absolutely loved staying here and were so incredibly comfortable. Both the room and the bathroom were super spacious. Fairly good price too!

    5
    « Worth the trip »

A great hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Lovely spacious rooms. Undercover parking and beautifully decorated and appointed room with a very clean wet room. Situated right next to the lake this hotel offers water views. The restaurant and bar have seating near the water also so you can sit, eat and enjoy the views. Great value for money.

    5
« Friendly, Luxurious, Location, Spotless - The list goes on! »

Wow what a hotel! The location is just perfect overlooking Kawana Lake and a 2 minute walk to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The rooms are new, clean and have everything you need. The staff from the Reception to housekeeping were the most friendliest and helpful we have come across. If you visiting family or friends at the hospital you would not even consider anywhere else. If you are looking for a getaway its the perfect choice too with beautiful rooms and a to die for restaurant. Thank you so very much for making our stay absolutely perfect.

We have had the best ever stay here at the Best Western Hotel, the name speaks for it self. The staff are fantastic a special thank you to the young lady that served us for breakfast by the name of Bella Hall. Keep smiling you have a great attitude as a People's Person. To the dedicated receptionist Dheeraj Aryal for your warmth and friendly personality to all your customers. God bless you all. Bhana Family NZ

We were very happy with our stay, the facilities were excellent, very clean and had everything need including a comfortable bed. The restaurant had lovely food and you enjoyed the very inviting atmosphere. The staff were very helpful, friendly and gave great service. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

    « Short stay »

We stayed here over night as we were flying out the next day and needed to be close to the Sunshine Coast airport. Modern design hotel with friendly staff. Excellent value priced hotel to stay if you are traveling the next day. Restaurant is excellent value and quality especially on a Monday and Tuesday nights. Good room size awesome shower with the largest shower head I've ever seen in a hotel! Snacks at the bar are excellent. We ordered the Tex Mex pizza which was amazing. See pic. All in all a value priced hotel.

« Excellent hotel with terrific staff »

This Best Western hotel is in a new development area within walking distance of the University Hospital at the Sunshine Coast. It is a clean, comfortable and welcoming place to relax and unwind. The staff are simply terrific. Strongly recommended for any travel taking you to this general area.

    « Amazing stay »

We had an absolute fabulous stay at the lake Kawana hotel. The room was spacious and clean with a modern bathroom and kitchen and a cute balcony overlooking the water. The restaurant is trendy with something for everyone. We had fish which was delicious. The staff and manager was absolute amazing and showed us the pest part of Lake Kawana which is an up and coming area close to the sunshine coast. Many good restaurants, bars and beaches in the area... We couldn't feel more welcome. Highly recommending to anyone travelling to Lake Kawana!

« Survey for a holiday stay booked through Web jet. »

a good hotel over all but restaurant prices on the high side. Our last 5 star hotel was the Marriot in Moscow and their full breakfast was not equal to $27. The rooms were clean, and spacious. The house keeping was very good. The location was Kawana Waters in a new residential development with poor surroundings but may be OK in 5 years time.

    « Value for money »

Clean, comfortable rooms. Lady at the front desk was lovely made you feel welcome. Beds were nice and comfy. Good blackout curtains made the room nice and dark all day long. Nice big Telly. The free wifi was fast and easily accessible.

« can't recommend recommend this hotel enough »

This hotel was far more than we had expected. A little hard to find at the beginning, but once you knew where you were, it was and easy 22 minute drive to both Maroochydore and Caloundra which was great for us as we were visiting family in both places. (it is said that it is normally 15 minutes, but we hit traffic and a heavy storm!) The hotel is pleasantly decorated, very clean and with views across the lake from the bar/dinning area an added bonus. We found the staff to be not only very friendly and welcoming but also extremely helpful, in fact I would go as far as to say they went out of their way on more than one occasion for us. The rooms are comfortable, the large king size bed ensured we got a great night's sleep and the shower with its fantastic rain type sprinkler head was one not to be missed and certainly I probably spent more time enjoying this than was probably necessary! Free WIFi was available and easily accessible. Apart from the staff that I can't praise highly enough, the evening meal we had was superb to say the least, actually I would go as far as to say delightfully superb and what a bargain. Being a a Monday they had a special - as long as a main course was ordered which included chill jam chicken, which my husband ordered and said it was the best chicken he had ever had, and local sand crab linguini with garlic, cilli, capers, parsley rocket and parmesan which I had and was absolutely divine, there was also grilled fish with toasted seeds pickled fennel aioli lemon rocket and pressed avocado oil which our friends had and said was superb the price was 45.00 for two meals (I repeat, not 45.00 per order , but for the two meals) which included a bottle of house red or white wine. I can't ever remember having such a delightful meal at so cheap a price. We also sampled their warm bread with oil and warm olives (never had warm olives before but will most definitely order them again. Their breakfast the following morning was equally of the same standard and at a good price. I loved their 'piece' in the front of the guest book in the bedroom: 'To our Valued Guests............ we take hospitality and service very seriously and wish to make your stay a pleasant and memorable one. Staff are always available to help you with information, bookings and directions. ..... In the event that you may have forgotten any toiletry items, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor and/or shaving cream etc. we have these items available for you at the reception ...... as human beings, we sometimes make mistakes. Our desire is to correct the shortcomings we might have and to strive continually to improve our services.........' I have to say that we most certainly found no shortcomings - and to finish off, should you need medical attention the hospital is just across the road! Great hotel and looking forward to our next visit. Thank you Lake Kawana Hotel, You made our 58th wedding anniversary one we will never forget.

« Amazing staff, great rooms »

The staff at the location looked after my fiancè exceptionally well while I spent a period of time in the hospital down the road. Their assistance in both bookings and organising things for her was outstanding All staff were approachable and more than willing to go above and beyond to assist. Rooms were kept clean and tidy with a comfortable king size bed. The included breakfast with the stay was lovely and again service impeccable. Would recommend and definitely stay again if in the area

    « Poor experience »

When we checked into the hotel, we were given a card for the room. We lugged our baby and all of our luggage up to the second floor, and tried to enter the room we were told was ours. It turned out we were given the wrong room number and were trying to enter a room somebody was already staying in. We then had to take everything back down to correct the mistake, then back up to the correct room. In the room, there were no facilities to wash our baby's bottles. The food we ordered from room service was unappealing, the pizza had a frozen base and was incredibly greasy. We will not be returning to Best Western.

    « Attended a wedding - easy location »

Had a perfect 2 night stay! Staff were lovely, room was fresh and clean. The meals we had at the restaurant were out of this world. Very surprised by the quality. Only downside, the air conditioning was a little noisy. Would definitely recommend for an affordable break.

Very friendly easygoing staff, clean and well set out modern hotel, food looked and tasted devine, very easy check in and out process, the bed was extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to my family and friends who need to stay in the area.

    « Brand new »

Brand new property nice and pretty open view from all rooms right by river side. Quite far from any city center area or activities , closer is 10-15 mins drive no walk distance options. Friendly and very helpful staff . All in all good stay if few days and you have a car.

    « Excellent »

Completely satisfied overall with the hotel. Couldn't fault it at all. Staff were professional and helpful. Room was clean, tidy and beautifully laid out. Fast and fuss free check in and check out. Peaceful and private. 10/10!

« Great boutique style hotel with great location »

This is the second time I have stayed at this establishment. I love its homely style balance between a city stylised hotel and country style personalised service. Locationally it is the closest hotel to the new University hospital. The area itself is developing at a huge rate. The hotel is away from the bulk of business in the area but by the same token is only minutes away from everything. The rooms are well appointed with everything you need. Everything is modern and you have free wifi access - a must for me..despite not using huge volumes of data. As a sports nut it also has Foxtel with a number of sports channels...which is great. There is free on-site . There is a restaurant and bar on site. Coffee is available to take away ... All in all a great place to stay and very reasonably priced. I will definitely stay again

« Excellent Rooms for Great Cost »

2nd time staying here for a weekend away. The room is beautiful, clean, and modern. The bed was like a cloud to sleep on. And staff are polite, courteous, and respectful. Close to everything you need!

« Nice Hotel in a quiet area »

The BW plus is nice, clean and quiet. Located in a quiet area, not much activity and there are many potential upcoming building. There is a hospital nearby and I guess this Hotel is build for that. The room has a nice working desk, good comfortable bed and reasonable speed internet but the wifi signal is not strong in some part of the room. Water pressure from the bath is not strong too. Free car parking for hotel guess.

« Close to Private Hospital »

This motel was very fresh & comfortable, the bed was very comfortable (unlike some other motels), the rooms were very quiet & peaceful, with no traffic noise. Certainly recommend this motel. On site restaurant makes it very convenient for a quick bite or leisurely meal.

    « Not for me »

Lovely modern rooms neat & tidy. Was extremely disappointed with the customer service. Especially with our departure, gentlemen behind the counter only asked if we used anything from the mini bar. No goodbye or thanks for you're stay. Great for a business stay only. Not recommended for family or romantic getaway.

« Great hotel to stay at »

Great, clean and efficient place to stay - staff were very attentive and welcoming. We were a small group of approximately 15 people who stayed and dined at the hotel and restaurant bar. The location was excellent for our purpose and walking distance. Great walking tracks by the canal out front of the hotel. Parking available onsite which is always positive.

« Gorgeous, Comfortable and Awesome »

The rooms are very comfortable, the staff are amazing, nothing is too hard for them. The rooms are clean, well set out and peaceful. Views of the lake and walks are great. The restaurant does awesome coffee service and food in the restaurant yummy. If you ever want to see ideal response from staff this is the place. We were there for a hospital visit and they will accomodate things like a shower chair if requested. My only criticism is the disabled parking - whoever painted the lines for these spaces never read the rules.

    « Overnight get away »

Modern decor, great quiet location with rooms that are comfortable and spacious -parking is easy. Staff friendly and helpful and internet worked well. A last minute decision to have a getaway and catch up with friends on the Sunshine Coast. A most enjoyable and relaxed stay. Will return

    « Quality rooms »

Stayed here one night and a good experience. Great comfy bed but was disappointed there was no swimming pool. The room was very clean and nice bathroom. Lovely walking around the lake that is is situated on. We walked for about 6 kms and lots to see.

« Close to Sunshine Coast Stadium »

6 minute drive to stadium. Quiet. Modern Decor. Comfy bed. Easy to park. Would be great if there was a pool. Coffee Club and a couple of cafes clise by. Would be ideal for visiting the new hospital. Good experience.

« One of the best! »

If you are wanting immaculate customer service, spaciously clean and modern rooms, tranquil lake surroundings )that are just fantastic to view from the Hotels Elder flower restaurant) this is the place for you and your family. I cannot emphasise enough just how welcoming, friendly and accomodating that every single member of staff were during our weekend stay. From the first phone call (with enquiry) to check out. The staff were absolutely one of the best that we have experienced here in Australia! Thank you so much to our friends at Best Western Lake Kawana. We will be back!

« Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel »

Highly recommended - everything new and perfect at this hotel.. Excellent staff, very attractive restaurant on the water. Dark rooms - easy access for after hours. A1 experience on the Sunshine Coast.

« Best Western Plus Birtinya sunshine coast »

Rooms are spacious, comfy bed, nice shower. Lifts. The Restaurant has absolutely no gluten &/or dairy free options on the whole menu for any meal. Luckily I took lots of cooked veges and own bread etc with me. What an ordeal though carrying large eskies up in lift and back down again. Got sick of cold food for 3 days - their microwave didn't have a turntable in it and it was on another floor anyway. Only one gluten free for breakfast - toast for a whopping $10. If you have special dietary requirements try somewhere else especially one closer to shops or restaurants.

« Food and staff are amazing! »

Wildflower Restaurant is the absolute highlight for me every time. Food is amazing and cooked perfectly every time by head Chef Gareth. Ash is really friendly and can recite the menu off by heart making you want to order everything. Shannon is always really helpful at reception too...in fact all the staff are fantastic.

    « Overnight stay »

Booked earlier on the day and was able to complete the process over the phone so minimal to do on arrival. The room was comfortable, the internet access was great and TV viewing offered a wide variety of channels.

    « Great value »

Best value in the area. Modern. Not near the beach but we were in town for a conference. Nice walk around the lake. Didn't like the pillows but bed comfy. Second stay here but the menu hadn't changed and dinner is overpriced- food only okay. Breakfast service for coffee very slow (30 mins one morning) - as we were in town for work we had to leave it unfinished though there was an apology and we weren't charged for it

    5
« Contemporary place to stay »

Accommodation close to Sunshine Coast public and private university hospitals - walking distance. Walking track around man made pond for some morning exercise. Recommendation by colleagues of the restaurant on ground floor - good quality food (I haven't eaten there myself though). Large plasma tv screen in room with coffee machine. Uptodate bathroom appliances though little tightly spaced. Comfortable beds for a good night sleep. They even had complimentary toothpaste and toothbrush which was really appreciated as I hadn't brought my own. Minibar in room and nice couch which you can stretch out on to relax. Great place to stay. Staff friendly too.

    « Loved it! »

Another business trip and another hotel. As a Best Western I wasn't expecting above average - I was wrong. Fluffy bath sheets, hand and face towel, blackout curtains, an ironing board in excellent condition, comfy beds AND pillows and a big TV. A restaurant with great food, excellent staff and welcoming decor. Being away from home can be trying but with great accommodation and friendly staff it makes a great difference

« Combining business and leisure »

I decided to wrap a mini-vacation around some business, and this interesting option came up. A much keener price than hotels on the coastal tourist strip. The room was excellent. King bed + single. The king bed was supremely comfortable, and combined with perfect blackout curtains and a quiet location, my sleeps were wonderful. Great shower, and a really great desk for work. The free Internet was of high quality. As reported by many reviewers, the restaurant has really great food and was very well-priced. Everything I tried was excellent. Access to Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Caloundra is easy. There is even an adequate bus service both north and south, connecting with the train service, if you're not driving. In summary, a surprisingly good option, of high standard, for a great price, and quite practical for a quieter leisure stay on the Sunny Coast. When (not if) I stay again, I won't bother going to the coastal strip for most meals. The house restaurant (Wildflower) has better food than most of the Coast! The front-of-house and restaurant staff were uniformly gracious and down-to-earth.

« Good but not Great »

We stayed here while visiting Sunshine Coast. We found it a bit hard to find as our GPS didn't recognize it (fairly new). If you are going to the hospital, it is a great location, otherwise there really isn't anything else nearby. We found the lobby to be very loud as the restaurant is there. We had dinner there and it was good, kind of on the pricey side though. As a diamond member, I was disappointed that we didn't get a free or discounted breakfast so we walked down the street to a coffee shop instead. Overall, the rooms are very nice... the prices are a bit high for a BW.

    5
    « Back again »

We recently holidayed again with our friends and found this hotel to still excellent. In particular the restaurant offers wonderful food. We enjoyed an excellent meal with service also top class. Our stay was at the end of May and our room was very pleasant. The only disappointment was the result for the first State of Origin game.

    5
« Walk out the front and the Hospital is there! »

The staff are very friendly and the hotel has great parking which is easily accessible to the foyer. The rooms are comfortable and the king size bed is def a plus. It was nice to have a decent size flat screen tv with Foxtel and it was great to be so close to nice cafes and the hospital- we were able to walk across the road and be at the main entrance. My only negatives would be lack of a balcony & the shower screen is placed in front of the toilet which is an odd design. Shower is lovely and roomy the food downstairs is delicious, wifi is free & it's a great hotel overall.

    5
    « great location »

great location only a couple hundred metres from both public and private hospitals the rooms are quiet big everything that you want . Room service was very efficient and all the staff were very warm and helpful

« Perfect corporate meeting space »

As I am a local on the Sunshine Coast, I did not stay here but I did attend a number of meetings in one of their small function/boardrooms for business for a charity I am on the committee for. The service is always attentive without being obtrusive, friendly without being buddy buddy. The food platters to share cannot be faulted and the wine selection refreshing after a hard day and another meeting underway. The views from these rooms overlook the water and adds ambience.

    « Stayed for almost 3 weeks »

My partner and I stayed here while we were looking for a home to move into. Great service, it was well worth the price however as time went on the price kept going up. Free wifi, room cleaned everyday. Great stay.

« Big Bed, Big Shower, Big Towels »

I stayed here twice in two weeks and will definitley stay there again. The rooms are modern and comfortable. King sized bed with comfortable pillows ensured I had a great nights sleep. The shower and shower head was HUGE. The blockout curtains actually blocked out the light and it's in a quiet location. The staff were friendly and accommodating and reception is open 24 hours. This would be a great place to stay for people visiting the sunshine coast university hospital as it is in walking distance. Although they are not in walking distance to the beach they are on the lake which has a walking track around it and a park a short drive away. For me the only downside is the bar fridge runs all the time, it doesnt seem to cut out like normal fridges do. During the day this wasnt an issue but you notice it at night time.

    « Had a great two nights! »

My husband and I stayed for two nights to see nitro circus. The hotel and rooms were all new fresh modern because the building itself is brand new. The bathroom we had was a bit small for me but was very modern and clean. Great its right near the hospital if you need to stay somewhere. The included breakfast 'buffet' could have had more offerings I suppose it is only a small hotel it was still delicious you got buffet continental and a choose of eggs and bacon orrr omelette. Still filled me up just not normally what we are used to receiving for breakfast included. The hot chocolate from the machine was not nice at all so you might want to steer clear. All the staff were lovely and nice :-)

    « Great relax »

A great place to stay and relax for the weekend, the service was very good, rooms are very clean, and well appointed we stayed on the 3rd floor, views were good, the beds were very comfortable king size, so there was plenty of room!

« Modern, clean, comfortable accomodation »

I have just stayed at the Best Western Lake Kawana and was suitably impressed. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The room was well fitted out and very spacious, the bed was really comfy and the lockout blinds make the room so dark you can be assured of a good nights rest. Bathroom was clean and had everything you need. Would have given 5 stars except for a few things: - The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere with not many shops around so you are forced either to eat at the restaurant or get room service both of which are quite pricey - The rain shower head while sounds great has very low pressure which is no surprise when you see the size of it! Maybe a smaller shower head could rectify this Besides those 2 small complaints my stay was very enjoyable and would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in the area. Would definitely stay again.

« Way over my expectation! »

Really had no expectations other than the hotel being clean and tidy as most BW are. Well, arriving at the hotel i was met by a very nice and helpfull woman in the reception giving me all the info i needed about the area. The room was very nice, modern, well airconditioned and spaceous. If there was one little thing to complain about regarding the room it would've been the view. Well, not that important really. The restaurant then? Wow! I did NOT expect that. Absolutely fantastic. Nice view over the water to start off with. And the food!! Beautiful!!! Well prepared, awsome quality and the tastes was delicious. I decided to go seafood this night. A very good choice. And the service? I was lucky to get a kovely woman named Debbie to serve me. She did an awesome job of serving me, always with a big smile on her face. I higly recommend this establishment for both living and dining when in the area.

New motel near the hospital, very facilities, friendly staff. It will be a popular place once all the development starts around the area, very good natural water way for canoes or other small recreational boats

« Modern hotel with all of the conveniences »

Had a great weekend staying at the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana. The hotel boasts all mod cons being so new. The rooms are comfortable, beds are comfortable and the bathroom is large. We dined in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and were very impressed. The sandcrab linguine was delicious and the amount of crab very generous! All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

« Great Place to Stay »

Terrific accommodation. The room was large with everything you needed including a very comfortable bed. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a Continental breakfast included which was much more than you normally get with such a breakfast. Overall it was great accommodation in a good location. Will definitely stay again.

    « Impressive modern motel »

Stayed in a very comfortable family suite. The suite had plenty of space and also a balcony overlooking the canals. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Parking very easy. A short stroll to the new hospital as well as a range of cafes and restaurants. I thought the Best Western Kawana Waters motel it to be good value, especially considering other accommodation options on the Sunshine Coast. The restaurant's food was also a pleasant surprise.

    5
    « Very Nice »

Stayed here last weekend. Quite busy with a wedding on. Wouldn't know in the room so quiet. The bed was very comfy and the pillows were amazing. Shower was the best after a long day working. Highly recommend the restaurant downstairs. The 3 sides for $19 was more than I could eat and great value.

    5
    « Wonderful. »

We stayed a week here in a family suite, and enjoyed it. Everything you'd expect from a fairly new establishment. We had great service at all times - helpful and friendly. The room was lovely - well equipped and clean. The restaurant was pricey but excellent (our dinner there was probably the best we had in QLD!) It's been mentioned that the location is slightly inconvenient for tourists... I think that's a fair comment. However we had a car, so it was no issue! Happy to recommend.

    5
« Very pleasant short stay with a baby »

The hotel is simple as we knew it would be but very clean and comfortable. We had a wedding in Kawana and decided to stay there with our baby. The porta-cot was already in the spacious room on our arrival. Bathroom very clean and nice shower. The best bed I ever slept on!

    1
    « DONT STAY THERE!!!! »

Wouldn't put this place out if it was on fire. The wait staff are only half trained. Found the reception person on checkout nice until we complained then turned sour. The bathroom is poorly configured. Air conditioning fan very noisy, even on low. Only received coffee pods with our complementary coffee maker on the first night. When the new hospital opens in a few months they are going to have to lift their game considerably as many and varied types of clientele (for the hospital) will use this hotel. Unless they pull their socks up in a few areas I would currently recommend to stay elsewhere.

    3
    « Not for leisure »

While this place would be ideal for visitors to the newly built University Hospital, there are a few things they need to improve on. Breakfast service was appalling, the plated food was great but the continental at $17 really needs to be lifted in choices available. The waitstaff are more suited to maccas or subway as they dont even know whats on their menu! We ordered the full breakfast, bacon, eggs and continental then were told off for helping ourselves! Our 2nd mornings brekky was met with more confusion proving waitstaff dont read their own menu! It clearly states: full breakfast includes continental plus bacon and eggs. On our second morning we had no hot water and were told the pilot light on the roof had gone out. The beds were comfy as! And the waterfall showerhead lovely. Otherwise the double rooms are very small for 2 even though we upgraded to an executive suite. This hotel needs a lot of work regarding staff training and maintenance. We wont be back. Good luck to them when they start to get busy because they had trouble coping with a handful of guests! Not family or even couple friendly!

    3
    « Great room »

Only stayed one night in this modern hotel. Room was great with a massive bed. This is a new area still under development, across the road from the new hospital, so not much to see or do. Nice walk around the lake made it more enjoyable.

« Bang for buck at the Best Western »

Pleasantly surprised. I booked last minute, and check in was breeze. Everything is new, and it isn't cheap or flimsy. It was quiet, comfortable and the staff were polite and organised. Would stay again.

    « Brand new »

A night stay for an art gallery trail, this hotel is quiet, very new & very comfortable. Convenient for travellers heading either way. Our only diappointment was that the female receptionist on checking in was quite abrupt.Could have been friendlier & greeted us with a smile.

« New, Modern, Great room »

We stayed as a last minute night away. Same weekend as the music festival so felt lucky to get a room. I rang direct got a lovely lady who organised the room with no fuss. Arrived a little early, room was ready, and was awesome. Comfy beds, awesome shower (I want one of those shower heads) and all the amenities you need. At this stage it may be a little out of the way for some as development is continuing close by, but it is only a short drive to Caloundra where we spent our time mostly.

    4
    « A great boutique hotel »

Found this hotel online and the price was right so we booked for a Saturday night stay. It's a little out of the way if you're looking for somewhere near the beach, but for our purposes it was fine. Check-in was smooth. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The square rain shower head was great. Breakfast was included in our rate and was one of the better hotel breakfasts we've enjoyed for quite a while. Parking is free but limited undercover so arrive early if you don't fancy leaving your car outdoors overnight. Overall a great stay!

    5
    « Excellent customer service »

Have had to book hotel as undergoing house renovations, was thoroughly impressed with the customer service we received despite being difficult customers in having to check in early and check out late. Have stayed in multiple hotels throughout Australia and abroad, the customer service I received here was in the top percentile. Clean room, comfortable bedding, only room for improvement would be a greater variety of food from the restaurant, however being a new hotel that is understandable. Thank you all!

    « great stop over »

we had a voucher we bought for this hotel and de ided to have three days midweek. its very new but really lovely. its licated across the road from the university hospital and private hospital. they not open until april next year. the hotel istself has a lovely restuarant right by the lake its lovely. from our room we had a lovely view of the water. best beds ever so so comfy. nice spacious room. we would come back.

« Not sure about this one »

Stayed Friday to Sunday and had an executive suite shared with my sister. Bedroom and beds were pretty standard and actually beds were comfortable. Bathroom layout was dreadful though. Fantastic looking massive rain shower head which trickled water out. And toilet was right in front of shower glass partition. Very weird. However breakfast came with room deal so about $540 for 3 nights. Breakfast was really good too with a restaurant overlooking the lake for atmosphere. But restaurant not open on Saturday for lunch. And good eateries about 25 min drive away. So I think on reflection for what we paid we would probably go for somewhere with a few more options close by next time.

    4
    « VERY COMFORTABLE »

Excellent friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Was a bit disappointed with the window being so very small, for the view - we had to get up close, to enjoy the views. Food at the restaurant was excellent

    5
« Great venue for wedding »

Having just stayed at this hotel for a family wedding I must say was the best food we have ever had at a wedding reception. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted Devine. Staff were attentive and venue special. Rooms were modern and luxurious. Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend breakfast. Credit to staff and chef. Highly recommend.

    3
    « Disappointing »

I had high hopes being a newly refurbished hotel. The approach to the hotel was a huge disappointment as well as the the view from the rooms and restaurant because all around is literally a construction site where the wind continually blows up dust. Not inviting. It is located close to nothing except the hospital. No shops, no beach, not even a coffee shop open on Saturday afternoon. I agree the food is overpriced. The continental breakfast did not offer any alternative to cow's milk and only push button coffee for premium price. The room was nice but the bathroom very cramped. A jug of cold water in the fridge would have been welcoming on a hot day, not just the bottled water for sale in the mini bar. And the air conditioning was very noisy.....all night long. A nice a hotel with lovely staff but it gave me no reason to go back or recommend it, unless you were working in the construction site or wanting to stay near the hospital and gaze upon a construction site.

    4
    « A Friend's Invitation »

Our friends invited us for a 3 night stay. The room was very nice but more suitable for dining out. We dined in the restaurant on the ground floor for 2 of the nights and found the meals exceptional. Prices are a little high but the food and service was first class. We will look to dine here again even though travel distance is quite excessive.

    « Kawana! Wow! »

Was not sure what to expect of this motel but it is just lovely. Seems to be in a bit of an awkward position but with the area building up around it, it will be amazing. Very quiet. Close to the new Hospitals to be opened shortly. Very Open plan areas. Lovely grass areas near by. Great Cafe's close by. Will have very nice views once completed. Rooms are a great size. Very clean and well maintained. Small Lobby and lifts but don't let this deter you. Would highly recommend this Motel. One word of advice is that there is no close convenience stores close by to buy any small items, such as water or nibblies. But I'm sure this will change with the progress.

« Hotel is fine, Dining room overpriced an dpoor »

Friendly staff, quality rooms for the price. Air con can be a little tricky to work out. Location is adjacent to the under construction University Hospital. Nothing else much around it at this stage. No night life or beach for tourists. Clean and new. Unfortunately way overpriced dining room and some horrible meals.

    4
« Clean hotel with a great bed »

Hotel room was clean and quiet which was great for a business trip. Bed was very comfortable. Only comment was the inclusion of coffee with breakfast. Was awful to have a coffee from a touch button coffee machine. Had to $6 for 1 regular barista size proper coffee. Also should be more parking available for a hotel of this size. I got the last spot in the hotel, and i arrived at a reasonable hour.

« Best accommodation we have had on Sunshine Coast for a long while. »

This hotel is spotless [as very new], great staff, delicious breakfast, the most comfortable bed I have slept in - including our own! Foxtel TV. Nice toiletries and bathroom facilities. The hotel is in the middle of a big building site - our sat nav had troubles locating but we got there in the end. There is no noise whatsoever from building [new hospital, shops, houses.] Would not hesitate to recommend. The hotel, is however, not really near anything such as the beach, shops, restaurants. Once we worked out how to turn the noisy air con on we resumed our night's sleep. You have to take it off auto!

    « Disappointing and infuriating »

We had been travelling for 3 weeks and as is our practice had picked up various food items that needed refridgeration. As this hotel adverise refridgeration we thought our food would be ok - however the fridge did not work. On complaining to the staff we were told that it was a drinks only fridge and we should have made other arrangements for our food. This must be super technology in refridgeration where a fridge can tell whether it is holding food or drinks. Two points here 1) the fridge did not work and did not do the job advertised it for and consequently we had to throw away our food. 2) We do not appreciate being taken for idiots and/or lied to. There was no hot water the night we stayed and had only a cold shower in the morning. No prior information was given with regard to this problem and no compensation offered. A poor effort by a reputable establishment which charges top dollar and we will not be staying at a Best Western again.

« Nice hotel in a construction area »

New hotel with modern decor and lovely staff - a great asset (well perhaps not 100% of staff . ie the young lady on reception who was put out by us wanting a detailed account prior to paying on "check out" and who never smiled) All other staff were very friendly and helpful. Great chef for our evening meals. Very good meals expecially loved the pavlova dish which is sharable. Restaurant and bar had a view over canal and contruction sites beyond in this brand new suburb springing up before our eyes. Our room which was a good size had window unable to be opened so aircon on all the time which worked well and was regulated by us. No external noise heard in room from close by contruction sites..Free Foxtel movies on large flatscreen TV. Excellent blockout curtains. Bed VERY comfortable. Toilet in bathroom positioned rather strangely. Excellent shower. We chose the hotel as it was close to the tourist sites we wished to visit and we got a great deal in $$$. However, if you are looking for resort facilities this is not for you. Being close to the new hospital in next street due to open next year will be a boon to the hotel. Parking is easy, just outside the entrance.

    « Midweek getaway »

This is a relatively new hotel and my husband and I decided to give it a go and stay for a night. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted at the reception counter, booking in was quick and easy. We were early, but our room was ready, so we could go straight up. The room was lovely, very tastefully decorated and appointed. A king size bed, which was extremely comfortable, and really nice pillows too! Much better than other hotel rooms we've stayed at, it was very big, big enough that we had a chaise lounge and a comfy chair as well as a desk and desk chair, so plenty of room so you don't have to sit just on the bed. The bathroom was great too, with a rain shower head and soft closing toilet suite. Pay tv was included as was free wifi. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and we will definitely be going back again soon. Service, location, ambience, staff all excellent! ????

    « Bad night's 'sleep' »

This was my second stay at this hotel and I stayed for one night; I was in town for work and had a big day the day following my night's stay. The first time I stayed in this hotel I rated it highly but after this stay I would be reluctant to stay here again. I had one of my worst nights in a hotel due to: 1) The bright light on the TV, which I eventually fixed by stumbling out of bed to turn off the TV at the wall 2) The increasingly loud humming sound that the fridge started making after I went to bed. I got up to turn off the fridge at the wall, too 3) The stuffiness of my room. I could not work out why my room was so hot until I eventually phoned Reception. The staff member casually told me that my air con had not been on and that she would turn it on for me (I believe 'on/off' is controlled from Reception and guests can change some settings from their room once it is on). 4) The slamming shut of a door by a guest in a room close to mine at some ungodly hour By the time my air con was turned on I adjusted the fan speed to high as I was so hot and bothered and desperately needing sleep. I got into bed and the fan speed sounded like a hurricane. I gave up on any sleep at all by this time (the bed was also uncomfortable as it formed a small 'tent' shape where the two single mattresses were zipped together) and lay waiting for my alarm to go off at 6.00am. Upon checkout (the staff member looked like a night duty person; I checked out around 7.00am) I wasn't asked a single question about my stay. Disappointing. The positives are the meals in the onsite restaurant and the lake which the hotel overlooks and which affords lovely night strolls.

    « Short break »

Located between Caloundra and Moloolaba, just off the Nicklin Way, BW Plus is well located near the regional University Hospital. Overlooking one of the many canals, it is convenient for those attending events on the Sunshine Coast. Rooms are reasonably sized and well-set-up with kingsize bed; compact yet stylish bathroom; fridge and minibar; tea and coffee facility (first carton of milk provided); large TV (with Fox) and chaise - lounge. Staff are friendly; bar/cafe/dining area and balcony is bright with a pleasant outlook over the canal. Room service is available at designated hours. Parking is free. New coffee shop and out cafes under construction in nearby buildings.

    « Awful experience »

I stayed 10 nights at this hotel and it was not a pleasant stay. The hotel is located in a very remote area; the toilet awkwardly faces the shower glass panel; the air-conditioning fan is loud (even on low); the room ventilation is poor; but worst of all is the housekeeping schedule/service. The hotel advertises a FULL 24 hour service on their home page, yet housekeeping (which is a service) operates at their convenience; they are not there to offer you service; you are there to accommodate them and you are at their mercy subject to their own ridiculous terms if you wanted your room cleaned! Their argument is that this is a small hotel and housekeeping hours change based on occupancy and could finish any time they see fit in the morning! So tough luck if you are sick or jet-lagged and can't wake up early; tough luck if you had the DND sign because you were catching up on your sleep, or because you wanted to be in your room when it is serviced! I was told if I wanted to have service it had to be the latest by 13:30pm, so I called reception at 12:30pm asking for service, ?R" the reception manger said "sure I will tell them", 40 minutes later no one showed up and ?R" did not bother advising me that they were already gone for the day! I expressed my disappointment as the room was not serviced the day before; so "R" and ?L? an extremely conceited, bossy and rude head of housekeeping, showed up at my door with fresh towels. ?L" denied having told me the deadline for cleaning was 13:30 and started giving me lessons about how housekeeping operates in hotels in Australia as if I was coming from some remote undeveloped country and have never been in hotels! She categorically refused to clean, vacuum or dust. I begged her to at least dust, she refused and told me ? there is no one to do so now and I am not your servant?!! it was utterly shocking how she stood there watching me along with ?R" dusting the room myself with a wet face towel!! Dusting a guest's room does not make a housekeeper a servant! dusting is a PAID SERVICE, included in the room rate! And as if ?L's? arrogance was not enough she tried her best to intimidate me and to make me feel as if I am asking too much because according to her I had a linen change I was not entitled to!!!! Which respectable 4-star hotel waits for you to ask for clean sheets on the 6th day of your stay?!! which hotel does not change your sheets at least half way through your stay, without you having to remind them?! which hotel considers you are not entitled to a linen change in such a long stay! This is a HOTEL not a serviced apartment! Later that day, ?S? a receptionist came to replace a bathrobe which was taken with the dirty towels, I wanted her to know what happened and wanted her to see the dirt I found stuck under the coffee maker; I took a tissue and started scrubbing, it was so hard to remove and I ended up cutting my finger because what was there turned out to be not some left over green veggies but sharp pieces of green glass glued to the counter because it has been there for ages. ?S? the receptionist who witnessed the incident helped me clean the wound with antiseptic and gave me a bandage (Thank you!) and "D? from housekeeping had to scrub real hard the next day to remove the mess which tells you how thorough this hotel cleans between guests! I hope reading me the hotel can pay more attention to cleaning and show more flexibility when their guests are sick or jet lagged. Hotel business is a SERVICE oriented business, when there is no service and when you need to clean your room yourself you are better off staying elsewhere. I have moved to another beautiful spic and span clean property on the Sunshine coast and they have daily service until 5 pm :)

Fantastic hotel to stay - brand new with modern fit out and large spacious and luxurious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff, nice food in the restaurant and the bed was very comfortable. Also has plenty of parking space for cars/4WDs. Quiet location although still close to shops, attractions and the hospital. I would definately stay again and I highly recommend to anyone else looking for comfortable and peaceful accommodation.

Stayed for work overnight and had a great experience leading to my intention to return. Rooms are nice but the stand-out is the food in the restaurant. Service, food & location are terrific. This is not a holiday hotel if you expect to be close to the beach but very convenient to the new private & public hospitals

Well I booked this on spec from the internet. it's a little in the middle of nowhere, you must have a car. The staff were friendly. The rooms were very good, clean comfortable bed big screen TV. The bathroom layout is awkward though. I felt the breakfast was very lacklustre. there is a choice of 2 things included in the breakfast package, a very basic hot english, or 2 choices from a continental. Included is a single coffee or a juice, not both. Everything is charged as an extra and is certainly not on the cheap side. We didn't dine in the restaurant, but I felt the menu read a little pretentious, and was quite expensive for what it was. Obviously my opinion. Would I stay there again, probably not, it is a little sterile and doesn't have enough facilities, pool, Spa gym, playroom etc.

Because of the location it will be interesting to see what target market will be for this hotel in the near future : business, couples, or people visiting the hospital as I don't think it is suitably for family's (-) in counted a hostile and not friendly female staff member at reception when booking in, there was also another review about this on the 26th May maybe this person needs training in customer relation skills Sealed window in rooms, Curtains backed to front, Toilet to close to shower, coffee cup had coffee stains on it, Drinking glass were also smeary, Hole in the top bed sheet. Meet the Staff in the bar on Wednesday also did not happen ? Most of the above (-) have been reviewed before. (+) The breakfast was a stand out especially the poached eggs and the way the tomatoes where done. Staff in this area were very friendly and also nice to sit out on the deck for breakfast. Raj in reception is a true asset to your company excellent customers skills. Will be back to stay very soon.

We booked on line and the deal was very reasonable, including free breakfast each morning. We ate and drank here several times during our stay and the staff, the service and the quality of the food was fantastic. We would like to especially thank Ashleigh in the restaurant, he was a standout player, in a great team. The king size bed was so comfortable, I'm considering buying one for home ! Thank you for a great stay.

    « The pre review...review!! »

This is something new for me. A review before I have even visited the hotel! However I had such a positive experience when I rang the hotel to enquire about parking, that I simply HAD to share this with the Trip Advisor community. I found this hotel on booking.com and as I am at genius level, the price and conditions of booking were great. However I needed to contact the property to checkout the parking situation. My husband and I are traveling with our VERY expensive mountain bikes as we are going on a long bike ride through the Dularcha National Park on Saturday and needed to know if our bikes would be secure in undercover parking. It must have been my lucky day, as I was assisted by Raj, from reception. This person immediately made me feel comfortable and his customer service skills were spot on. With a very friendly and extremely professional manner, I was informed that although the parking was secure with CCTV cameras, and the reception open 24 hours, the carpark was only partially covered and perhaps I would prefer to lock our bikes in the luggage room inside the hotel! Raj... you made my day. I was not made to feel silly, for being so protective of our bikes, nor was I made to feel as though I was really putting them out. In fact it felt as though Raj felt the way we did about our bikes and was just happy to be keeping them safe. It is worth noting that I had contacted two other properties regarding parking and securing our bikes and neither property could accommodate our needs. I quickly booked our room and am eagerly anticipating our stay. If the rest of our stay is as positive as this first experience, we are in for a real treat!

I guess we went by the pictures on the booking site and didnt look further then that before booking. Im a little disappointed that we didnt get what we were expecting. Our room was tiny faced south, had no verandah and had a sealed window that you had to stand up to see any kind of view. The airconditioning was so loud that you had to turn it off before watching TV or resting. We asked for a room upgrade to get a view or verandah and were told it was going to cost another $80 per night which I felt was a bit over the top. On the plus side, the room was modern, clean and the bed comfy.

Loved this place staff are friendly and funny make you feel welcome right from the start. We where in room 212 lovely view out the window. Just a little negative feed back which I'm sure would be helpful because if we don't say you won't know. The wine glasses in our room where dirty! The stand by light on the TV was like a spot light at night and the room was to warm at night.Last thing better brand of tea would be a good thing! OK back to the positives Bed was very comfortable room was spotless and spacious. Restaurant was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals we requested dessert in our room which was no trouble and WOW desserts where amazing. Breakfast was included in our package husband recommends the omelet with ham and cheese. I had bacon and eggs I cannot have eggs so was offered mushrooms and avocado instead much appreciated. Absolutely enjoyed our stay most relaxing and can not wait for our next visit!

I haven't even arrived yet and I am disgusted in there approach to customers. Being a new member to Bookings.com, i thought I tentatively booked accomodation, which I thought would be confirmed by email, (which I actually typed wrong on Bookings.) I check my credit card this morning, they have taken full amount and upon a friendly phone call, they refused refund. I would like confirmation of any booking before I go anywhere thank you. I will not stay with you, if you do not have very good online presence and phone customer service.

We have just returned from a trip to Nambour to attend the Queensland Garden Expo. Having invited another couple to attend this year and because of the difficulty to find parking, we drove up the day before to stay overnight at this ' pleasant surprise' of. Hotel. It really deserves 4 and a half stars. The only fault we found is that, currently, it overlooks the construction work on the new University Teaxhing Hospital. The rooms are large, comfortable and spotless. We found the staff at Reception, the Bar and Dining Room friendly and very approachable. Unfortunately, we only had breakfast as we had already booked dinner at a favourite Tavern (the Brightwater) but would definitely dine there when we return. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast of mushrooms on toast and the fruit with yoghurt was beautiful and fresh. I guess if you are visiting the coast for 'sun and surf' though it is sadly a little far from the beach but ideal if passing through the area on other business. It was great value for money and we all thoroughly enjoyed our overnighter!

I visited this new property last Friday night for a work meeting. The service from start to finish was excellent. Friendly and professional staff all willing to make our evening enjoyable. The meals were great and my fish was really tasty. Now, the desserts were simply awesome! Too many restaurants boring dessert menus...well not this place. Chocolate Nemesis and a huge pavlova that was delicious! The rooms were really modern with great artwork. Ask for a room looking over the water for the best views. I'll be back for the dessert alone!

This is a wonderful hotel which has an easy check-in and check-out and a fantastic restaurant with the most delicious breakfasts. It has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and the furnishings are modern and new. Conveniently located on the Sunshine Coast although you really need a car which we'd hired prior to our visit. Parking is undercover and free. Can't wait to come back and stay here again and thanks for the friendly service!

« Pristine and new in quiet location »

I stayed a few nights at the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel in June and can't wait to return again. The hotel opened in November 2015 and everything is new, immaculate and fresh. With nicely fitted out rooms, and sumptuous cooked breakfasts and exquisite meals on offer, there's a reason to stay indoors. Featuring local produce served for lunch and dinner at the Wildflower Restaurant and Bar on ground level, the hotel also offers canal views and a quiet location. Located in the new Sunshine Coast hospital precinct, the hotel is surrounded by a network of walkways around the waterways. An affordable tariff and free undercover parking adjoining the hotel on ground level adds to the convenience, not to mention, professional and friendly staff only to happy to help with bookings and providing directions. On that note, the hotel was not yet on my sat nav and i found it by following signage - making the stay more private and quiet thanks to minimal traffic.

The value of our room was supposed to be $360 as advertised in our voucher. It certainly was worth no more than the $149 I paid. Was supposed to be a Deluxe king sized pillow top bed room. The bed was king sized but the pillow top was ordinary. The room was obviously designed for a handicapped person in a wheel chair which is fine but I am not handicapped and the bath room was extremely poorly designed for what was supposed to be a deluxe room. There is no vanity unit at all. Just a basin and tap. The shower was not enclosed and open to the bathroom with a small curtain. My advice>>>>>>>>> Take your money somewhere else.

    « Business Trip. »

I travel to the Sunshine Coast often and decided to stay at Best Western as it was close to the office. The hotel is new and is obvious by level of cleanliness and the very very comfortable bed and pillows. ( Slept like a baby ). The staff are very friendly and accommodating. However I must point out few things - there is no food outlets due to the location so you need to go for a drive to find something to eat. There is a restaurant on site with delicious meals but price....$45 for a steak and I do recommend the pavlova.... Yum. I had a few inconveniences of which the staff were apologetic sent me a bottle of wine one evening.... Would I stay there again? Absolutely. It's a new place and I am sure will iron out the small issues.

Dont get me wrong. Its a nice new modern hotel with some great things going for it. just a few littler details needed attention. PRO's: new and fresh at time of writing. Loved the parking being right at the reception doors - most of it under cover. Small reception area but adequate. Lovely staff. Great food in the resturant - above standard. Nice drinking area. Good size bedrooms and terrific blackout curtains. Loved the big (huge) shower cubicals rather than a bath. bathrooms quite modern and well laid out. Love the slow closing toilet seats. Big TV. Comfortable couch along under the window. Easy to find. CON's: Water pressure poor and wouldn't fill up the terrific large sunshower head. hot water slow to come through also. Air con only had cooling - no heating. (cold nights while I was there). tiny soaps but large grill soap holders so soap kept falling through. (poor planning). Would have liked pay-per-view movies. Room noisy with lifts talking most of the night and noisy water pipe to water tank on roof. Given that this hotel is right near the new hospital and ostensibly for stayovers by friends and family, they could spend a lot of time in this hotel so the little details need to be worked out. Its not in walking distance of anything exciting in the area so it needs to cater more for long stays which it 99% does - just little details remain. I would stay there for business trips also.

« Great Value, Great Location »

We stayed in a Deluxe King room at this hotel, which is situated in Bertinya, on the Sunshine Coast. The hotel is only about 6 months old, and everything was in pristine condition. The room was really comfortable, quiet and modern, with a nice size LCD TV and many programs and free Foxtel movies to watch, if that floats your boat. There was only one chair for the desk unit, but a sofa was included in the room. The bathroom was well designed, apart from the toilet being a little too close to the shower glass. At least the toilet paper was in a convenient position. The shower was quite large, with a 'rain-water head'. The wire basket in the shower was entirely unsuited to the hotel-supplied shampoo. The King Size bed was very comfortable and some rooms probably had a good view. The staff were very efficient and friendly, and there was adequate parking, some undercover, in the hotel forecourt. There was quite a bit of construction work going on for the new hospital being built there, but no noise associated with it.

« New resturant to try and a night away »

Got a great price match deal for the room - executive - great welcome from staff. We were advised about the wine down which is Friday evenings 4-6pm lower than normal beer and wine with complimentary canopies - nice surprise. Room clean tidy not to much room especially in the bathroom the position of the toilet means that you have to be very careful when sitting otherwise you WILL bang your head on the glass shower screen (I am not overly large either). The room is advertised as having extras as free in the room like the nepresso coffee machine - you are only allowed ONE pod each - two to the room per service - rather poor I feel, most would definitely have coffee on arrival before freshening up then another in the morning - the other coffee they supply in the sleeve is not at all good. Book dinner for the evening - on the higher end range for dinner - fine dining restaurants - so was expecting great food. Husband had pork belly which was great, ordered with potatoes on recommendation of waitress as small portion - she was correct. I decided to give the truffle sausage dish a try - not so great, it was like a ordinary Cumberland sausage very disappointed - definitely could not get any truffle taste. Desert - decided to share on the recommendation of the waitress, went for the pavlova and it certainly did not disappoint - it was wonderful, from the presentation to the taste. Service throughout the meal was ordinary - you had to ask for water/drinks, plates taken before the parties had completed their meal - an ok meal but for the price I certainly would have expected a lot more

    « Fantastic! »

Stayed here for 3 nights for work which was a 300m walk to the front door of Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The hotel is modern, with all the mod cons including the most amazingly comfortable bed and pillows. I dined each night at the inhouse restaurant which I couldnt fault in quality or price. The service was top notch and wait staff very knowledgeable of their menu. If you don't want to venture out of your room they have room service. I was fortunate enough to be at the hotel for their once a month wine tasting and canapes for guests of the hotel and the public and live solo singer which was a great way to inwind. All in all I rate this hotel up there with best of them. Looking forward to my return visit for work and will definitely recommend to others.

« Very well appointed hotel »

I stayed here for a weekend and wanted to be centrally located on the Sunshine Coast (that is between Maroochydore / Caloundra). The Best Western is a great choice, free parking, good WiFi speed, nice surrounds and well appointed super comfortable rooms. Staff were also very friendly as well. The hotel is closeby the hospital and there are some small cafes / eateries nearby (though they do tend to close early). The hotel is a little far from public transport if you're relying on the bus network though but overall a really great up and coming hotel in an area that will soon be booming. I'd stay here again!

« Great if you want/need to be near the hospital »

This hotel really is very close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital - a couple minutes walk - which if really handy if you need to be nearby. The staff are very friendly and helpful, The bed was large and very comfortable, and the room service very good & quick. The area around is under development, but there is currently not much in the way of shops that you can walk to ( couple small food/coffee places in the next building up). There are plenty of shops though within a fairly short drive. And the hotel does have a restaurant and bar on the ground floor. If you're looking for a hotel on the beach this is not for you. A microwave in the room would be a nice addition.

« Perfect staff, perfect hotel. »

Stayed at this hotel for 10 nights in early May with seven other people. We had a total of three rooms, and each of us has a great stay. The hotel is new, very clean and up-to-date. The staff is attentive and helpful. We ate at the restaurant many times and enjoyed it without fail. Food is fabulous, staff courteous and professional - with just the right amount of friendly banter. If you need a hotel in the area, this is the one for you. The only negative thing I would say is that the location is a bit off the beaten track. You need a car to do anything or even to get a meal somewhere other than the hotel restaurant.

« Good for visiting family... Gorgeous food too. »

Beautiful new hotel in a new developing area, with cafe opening up.... We came here for a wedding (3days) . So it was perfect for us... The hospital is a 2 min walk away if you are visiting people. The breakfasts are amazing, so good we had a 3 course dinner there as well. Will definitely be back!!

« Reception staff need to crack a smile! Cleaners should run the hotel instead »

We found the reception staff to be hostile and not friendly at all. We found the cleaners to be more friendly then the reception staff! Upon arrival we were greeted to a woman behind the desk who didn't even bother to crack a smile. My partner and I felt like we were inconveniencing this woman just to check in. She was blunt, had a bit of an attitude and rushed us through the check in process in under 30 seconds. Upon seeing this woman again the next day behind the desk, she looked up but didn't dare greet us with a hello. My partner said hello, how are you but didn't get a response. As we were checking out, another staff member behind the counter was just as bad. This woman did not ask if we enjoyed our stay, if we would be back. Nothing. We barely got a thank you for staying with us. This hotel obviously doesn't have standards when it comes to customer retention which is a real shame. Nor do they care to make sure their guests are treated as people, and not another number. We frequently visit Kawana but will not be staying at the Best Western again purely because of the reception staff

    « Nice ambience »

The building itself is fairly new with the basic amenities you could ask for, for a short trip. Nothing more compared to big establish hotels like habing pool or gym though. The price is fairly reasonable for the room. My partner love it coz its clean and deco is easy on the eyes. We went for a lovely jog around the lake which is just right beside the hotel the next morning. Simply love that.

« Excellent service and facilities »

My partner, daughter and I stayed there two nights ago just for one night. We found the hotel to be very modern and tidy. The room was furnished very nicely. We particularly liked that they had Foxtel on the TV, the curtains completely blocked out the sun (great for a sleep in), the shower head was awesome (like a big rain shower head) and the bed + pillows were sooo soft and comfortable!! We also ordered a cot for the baby and it was very clean and presentable, I had no hesitations on letting my daughter sleep in it (some places give you a dirty old cot; which I wouldn't use.) We ate breakfast down in the restaurant and sat outside on the balcony, it was really nice and the food was amazing! We ordered the smashed avocado and feta with poached eggs (which was beautiful) and we ordered scrambled eggs for our daughter. The coffee was also really good! I had a long black and my partner had a cappuccino. The staff in the restaurant were really friendly and helpful, we were extremely happy with the service they provided. The only minus we had was that there was a fair bit of black hair left in the bathroom In various spots (definitely not our hair.) But in saying that, we weren't too fussed by it and when my partner told the manager on duty, she was very good about it. At the end of the day, the cleaners are only human and missing little things like that can happen from time to time, I doubt they would do that in every room. All in all, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very impressed with all aspects of this hotel. Thank you to the staff for their awesome hospitality.

« Good hotel - but needs some attention to minor details »

We stayed here for a night after the opening ceremony of the 2016 World Outrigger Sprint Championships at nearby Lake Kawana because it was the only good accommodation anywhere within miles of the venue. The hotel is reasonably new which is reflected in its surroundings - a major construction site consisting of hospital, medical centres and business park. When finished, it should be a reasonably nice locale but as for now it is what it is - a building site. First impressions of the hotel itself were favourable starting with the plentiful off-street car parking (some undercover) and the friendly and courteous greeting from reception staff. The room also was nice, featuring a super king-size bed with quality mattress, modern bedside light fittings, a very large wall-mounted flat screen TV, reasonably sized en suite bathroom containing all the expected balms, soaps and lotions, a well-stocked bar fridge, desk, chaise longue (which could double as an extra bed for a small adult or big child), an armchair and small table. Everything worked as expected reflecting the newness of the property. But just in case you think we were smitten with the room, I can list a couple of negatives. First, the curtains were incorrectly fitted. In my experience (and I have owned tourist rental accommodation) the daytime sheer privacy curtain is placed closest to the window, then comes the blackout curtain. In our room it was the opposite way around meaning that when you wanted to close the blackout curtain you first had to open the daytime privacy curtain. A minor point but, I feel, a valid one. Second was really not nice. My wife and I were inclined to have a glass of wine after returning from dinner but when we took the wine glasses from the cupboard it was clearly obvious they had been wiped with a damp cloth which left a milky film on the inside and outside of the glasses. Eeeeww! We shuddered at the thought of what that damp cloth may have been used to wipe as well. I realise glasses in hotel rooms are not sent to the kitchen dishwasher but a rinse in the sink and wiped with a dry, dedicated cloth should ensure a better outcome. Other than that, the room was quiet and we slept reasonably well. There is an onsite restaurant which looked busy but as we had an engagement elsewhere we were unable to try it. In summing up, this is a good business hotel which will cater well to the nearby hospital clients, their families and visiting medical staff. It is very close to a small selection of shops and cafes and about a 35 minute walk or 6 minute drive from the Lake Kawana sports complex. We would stay here again.

    « Excellent hotel »

My husband and I go frequently to the Sunshine Coast on weekends, and sometimes we stay one night or two over there. We found that this the perfect hotel for us. Its location is so convenient. You can get easily around Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, etc. The staff is nice and provide good service. The restaurant is excellent. Good quality and delicious food.

« A very nice room and very helpful staff »

We picked this motel because it was close to hospital but it was a very nice choice. All very new and our room was very comfortable and the blackout curtains were fantastic. Verycentral to all the coast but not beachside and not much around the place with lots of building going on.We were so grateful that the staff were able to fit us in one night at a time and it was not expensive.

« Lovely new business style hotel »

Let me just start by saying that if you are going to the Sunshine Coast for a tropical holiday to lounge by the pool/beach, this hotel is not for you. It is more business style, with no real guest amenities other than the restaurant (which I hear is very good, but didn't try as it was fully booked and a little on the expensive side for me). It is a new hotel in a brand new area which has not been mapped on my GPS yet, so it was a little tricky to find, but was fine once I found the area. There's really nothing nearby yet, except for a couple of café style places on the corner, which I imagine would only be open for breakfast and lunch. There are no supermarkets, convenience stores, or even petrol stations nearby, which is fine if you're prepared and get anything you might need on the way. The rooms are great! Large and modern, all with nice canal views. Large bathroom with humungous shower with rainfall shower head. Toilet is a little awkward - good thing I've only got short legs! And the shower could do with a little more pressure. There is fridge and kettle in the room, but no microwave or other kitchen appliances. The bed and seating areas were all very comfortable, and everything worked well. All staff members I encountered were friendly and welcoming. Overall an enjoyable stay, and I'll be interested to see how the area changes in the next few years.

    3
« Lovely soft bed but very basic hotel with no pool or other services »

The hotel is entered via the carpark. The is not much to look at other than the service pipes and cement. You can see water from the restaurant but it is no oceanside. There are timber walls around the carpark so there is nothing to look at and it feels sterile. The room is nice but very basic. The bed and linen are the standout feature - great! The room has a nice bathroom but the toilet is facing the wrong way (?) and there is a small area for putting toiletries. It has a brilliant shower! The Television is large but is also probably situated in the wrong place (away from the end of the bed). There is no pool. The hallway is very basic. Disappointing

    « Great new hotel »

I stayed for one night in a deluxe king suite while visiting the Sunshine Coast. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, spacious and modern and the facilities were great. I would definitely recommend staying here. It would be especially convenient for families of patients at the new university hospital.

    « Overall a comfy stay »

This location is fairly handy and will become a great spot for those frequenting the hospital. If you want to be close to the water this isn't for you. It isn't close to really much so you need a car if you are staying here. Overall it was a cost effective stay and the rooms were more than acceptable.

The room was beautiful and the addition of a chaise longue was great for watching movies. I spent one night here and the staff were friendly. The location was great for a traveller that simply wanted a place to stay overnight, but was a little far away from anything a tourist would want.

You can tell when you approach this hotel that it hasn't been there for long. Evidence of that is because there's some construction close-by, eco-designed landscaping and a brand spanking new hospital, all within walking distance. The hotel was very clean and in good condition, the decor new and modern and the staff were very accommodating. Entry is via the side street rather than Florey Boulevard, so that was a bit confusing initially as the signage isn't clear. There's not many facilities (cafes/bars/restaurants) nearby so be prepared to (1) drive, (2) walk or (3) arrange use of one of the local clubs' courtesy buses. I expect nearby facilities will improve over time when development expands.

Staff were very helpful. Rooms were of a good size and modern facilities. Stayed for one night with children aged 10 & 12 (visiting patient in hospital). No amenities to speak of, especially considering the age (new). Restaurant a tad small and not a very good choice on the menu and a bit overpriced for the standard of food. All in all though, a nice place for a stop over. Once other infra structure is in place it will be better. A fair way to drive for convenience places.

    « Great 1 night stay »

Stayed here 1 night on our drive down the east coast. As mentioned, the place is hard to find since it sits behind a hospital that is still under construction. The entire place is new and modern. Everyone we spoke with was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tastefully done and comfortable. Only downfall was the bathroom. The glass wall of the shower is a bit close to the toilet. You have to be mindful when rising from the throne. Also the counter space is limited in the bath. That seems to be the new design thing, bowl sink and no counter area. The restaurant was amazing. We ate dinner and breakfast there. Both meals we delicious and the menu had many choices. Prices were reasonable too. This is a good thing since you are far from any other options. Overall the Best Western Plus Oceanside Kawana is top notch.
