    « Good Hotel Room »

Overall I would stay here again, the only issue is that the wifi was complex to get onto on my laptop, meant I had to use my phone wifi but mainly because I didn't want to have to go downstairs to ask for help so not entirely the fault of the hotel. Food in the restaurant was good, mixed grill was my order and didn't get asked how I wanted my steak cooked but it was good nonetheless (I would definitely use less 'garnishing' on the plate if I was the chef) all in all good value and much better priced than other hotels locally, will stay here again!

    « Good Location »

Best Western loyalty card does not really amount to much ie automatic upgrade. One was obtained but on request not through he card itself. Staff pleasant dining choices limited on deals wild mushrooms difficult to cut impossible to eat? would be reported no feedback. Breakfast usual buffet few residents on first day why not just cook? Second day lots more residents one member of staff in working like a Trojan. Asked for boiled egg at least it was hot. Pllows in room like lead totally ruined sleep next day requested further 'soft' pillow another lead balloon provided. However overall package very reasonable so need to consider balance and cost. Plenty of hot water and good room heating.

    « Overnight stay. »

Staff were great but the place needs a good painting and up grading in some places. Great location of Junc 14 for the M6. Very busy. No BT sport in the hotel so couldn't watch the European Football. I wouldn't expect it in the room but it should be on in the bar area. loads of business watching the scores and results on there phones.

« Warm and welcoming like a pair of your favourite slippers. »

Driving down Eccleshall Road, I was not expecting a lot, however I was pleasantly surprised as the turn into the hotel opened up into expansive grounds. The driveway to the hotel (approximately 100 metres) has two speed restriction humps but a rather badly maintained road surface before the first hump had a nasty hole. This cannot be seen in the dark so be careful. The was welcomed by a pleasant receptionist who processed my booking efficiently and explained the restaurant times etc. The place was warm which was pleasing given that the evening had become quite chilly. I was on the second floor in the main building but did not notice a lift, so had to walk up the stairs. Any visitors with mobility issues should check in advance to ensure their needs can be met. The room was clean and tidy with a four poster bed and SKY sattelite TV, The bathroom was large with a bath / shower combination. The room had no air conditioning (that I could find) and did get uncomfortably warm during the night. Although I wasn't to that hungry so only had something from the bar menu. I had the best French Onion soup I have ever tasted (perhaps I haven't had too many examples) but it was delicious. The drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel and the service was friendly and efficient. All in all, enjoyed my visit and would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

« Great food and staff »

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as a family of 4. We booked this along with tickets for Alton Towers as a package online. Alton towers was a 40 min drive so you might be able to get a hotel closer. When we arrived in the first night we ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing with great choice and great value. The steak was cooked to perfection. Every night there seemed to be different staff but I can't fault any of them all friendly and helpful. Due to the service and food being so good we ate in there all three nights. The buffet breakfast us also brilliant all fresh and hot and the sausages are lovely. The only thing we did notice was that people were allowed dogs to stay in the hotel. Although this didn't bother us it may bother other people with allergies etc.

    « Not the best »

Stayed for one night-Saturday 15th. Room average and bed was comfortable. Our wall lights weren't working and reported it to reception on our way out. When we returned just after midnight we found the door hadn't been closed properly- who ever had been to sort our lights had not pulled the door shut. Just thankful no other guests had noticed. After all that only one light had been sorted. Breakfast wasn't very appetising. Won't be returning. Have stayed in other Best Western and had no issues.

    « In need of a makeover »

Stayed here with work and the rooms are in definite need of a makeover. Decor very 70's. We ate as a group of 15 or so and the meal was average at best. Those who had steak complained of the toughness and the desserts were poor. Surely could do better.

    « very pleasant stay »

we arrived for a weekend at this hotel. reception was efficient but I felt another couple of chairs there would have been beneficial. Our room was a reasonable size and the beds were comfortable. the hot water was extremely hot and so was the room. we had the window open most of the time. we had half board and the food, although basic was very tasty and plentiful. we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

    « Very average hotel »

I stayed at Best Western Tillington Hall for one night for work and I was really quite disappointed, I was allocated a room on the ground floor which was very tired and could have done with updating. It wasn't dirty as in unclean just tired dirty. The carpets were all worn and dirty. There was a huge spider in the bathroom which I had to dispose of too, looked like it had been there a while. The furniture all very dated, the whole hotel could do with a lick of paint and a refresh. I ordered room service as I arrived around 8pm I ordered chicken and it was luke warm and not very tasteful. The best thing about the hotel was the staff, very friendly and attentive. I am not one for giving negative feedback but felt I had to share my experience.

    « Reunion weekend »

A very enjoyable weekend at the hotel. Meals were of a good standard, well presented and hot. Waiting staff courteous and efficient. Our room (316) was spacious and well decorated. The only comments I could make are that the trees outside the window are large and take away much light, and the hot water was a little too hot. Otherwise thanks to all stafffor a very enjoyable weekend.

« Clean and comfortable but uninspired food »

We were at an organised function so didn't sample the normal menu but my veggie option on both nights was uninspired and tasteless. Other people were happy with the Saturday nights fare over the previous so some were content. Having said that the hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly.

    « A Pleasant Find »

Stayed for a few days whilst visiting relatives in the area. The room was very clean and the furniture polished during our stay. The staff were friendly and polite with good knowledge of activities in the local area. The restuarant has a good menu and the food reasonably priced, well presented and in good time. The buffet breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We had trouble locating the bar person several times as he was busy helping else where. But a very good stay in a nice hotel. Will definately return, thank you.

« A good place to stay in middle England »

Tillington Hall Hotel is a good place for a stop-over stay if journeying across country but is also a great place to stay longer to explore the wonderful countryside and attractions of this part of England.

    « Food Was Teffible »

Attended a function at this establishment and whilst the location and ambience was good the food served was terrible! The starter consisted of a mushroom covered with melted cheese which not only looked unappetizing but was! The main course of beef (it really looked like beef stew) what was supposed to pass for mashed potatoes which were lumpy and under cooked maintained the low standard of the starter. The desert was just as poor. There really was nothing good about the whole experience.

« freindly comfortable clean food 1st class »

as ex hoteliers ourselves we know what we like and dont like, room was very comfortable, staff well attentive the water was hot and plentyful, not sure if these negative reviewers were staying at the Tillington Hall

    « Poor poor poor »

The name of this hotel is the best part about it. But it makes promises it cannot keep! This hotel screams out for refurbishment. It is massively understaffed. On entering reception there is an ad for what the staff call 'wake parties' for after a burial or cremation. Somehow diminishing the grieving individuals. That questionable judgement informs most of the staff's behaviour. Try to stay somewhere else in Stafford if you care for a reasonable environment which does not rely on so few staff that reception just does not answer the phone, the food is poor and room service does not come with enough cutlery or napkins. WiFi is free but mostly does not work. There is free parking right in front of the rooms. Sleeping in your car under the beautiful old trees, eating food you have brought with you is highly recommended!

« Average hotel, awful food »

Overall this hotel is looking a bit tired and shabby, it is however very clean and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The food does let it down. Evening meals were very bland, poorly presented and the service extremely slow.

    « Confused Diner »

This was my fourth visit for lunch (13th Sept), over a fairly long period of time but remarkably the same scenario applied. I waited at the restaurant entrance for several minutes without seeing or hearing any member of staff which included the adjacent bar. Thinking it wasn't open I went to reception and they fetched someone from behind the scenes. No other person was in the restaurant. Apparently there was a private function in another room and available staff were committed there. Not a good advert for people visiting for lunch. The menu was quite varied and two courses were £9 95 with three courses £13 95. I had three courses and the quality was fine. It certainly compares well with other places I've eaten. For some unknown reason, on every occasion I've been the only diner, hence my unusual title. This is even more of a mystery because the restaurant is very clean and well presented, but is as quiet as a churchyard.

    « Lovely weekend »

Just spent a weekend here for a naval reunion. Lovely room and bathroom with lots of piping hot water. Good food all weekend and staff who were extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. Its also ideally located for the M6.

    « Chef needs sacking »

Food was bland not seasoned !! It states French fries seasoned no they are not and the PROPER CHIPS taste like oven chips awful and to make matters worse the chicken was dry and overcooked would of been better going to McDonald's . The Chefs here need to go back to basics or go and wash dishes as if you can not cook a simple chicken and chips and get it right then you should give up now. If I was the manager of this business I would be recruiting a new chef !!!

« In need of serious updating »

This hotel looks really nice from the outside, but don't be deceived. The room we stayed in was very tired, almost like a 'throw back from the 80's' plus I don't think £80 a night is cheap either, the premier travel inn down the road, have better rooms than this. The buffet breakfast was pretty average! The worst thing was, there was a leak in our bathroom, which meant ( apologies for giving these details) that everytime you sat on the toilet, the water dripped from the ceiling, down your back. This was reported on our arrival, and were told 20 mins later it was fixed! However, the following morning this was still happening, this was reported again, nothing done. On our departure, we were asked by 'Andrew' if we had enjoyed our stay, but have had no response! So best western, if you read your trip Advisor reviews, take note, and a response would not go amiss either

    « Lovely hotel »

Room was lovely size with big bed, tv with sky, shower/bath, wardrobes and drawers. Excellent breakfast included, buffet English breakfast, otherwise costs around £10 great bargain with the room. Ate at the restaurant one night very good, service was a little slow but wasn't in a rush to leave. Great staff, lovely hotel, great weekend away.

    « Hen Party »

Well what can I say.... absolutely amazing service fantastic accommodating staff. Unfourtunley due to the posthouse stafford letting us down three weeks before the hen party tillington stepped in to help afternoon tea was delious, food was outstanding staff always happy to help. Then to top it off they did the cocktail making even though they don't actually do this they went out there way to make it the best exsperince ever all 10 hens and the bride loved ever moment jake and Ryan were very entertaing and did everything in there power to make it a memerable exsperince and Meghan I can't thank you enough for saving the hen party at such short notice.

« Chef needs to get some pride »

Had dinner in the restaurant as a party of six - four from China. When booking, I asked if they have a local sourcing policy. I was told yes - everything came from birmingham! To me, that meant "anywhere! The menu was limited although that is often a good sign. The staff were more pleasant than they were proficient. I ordered a bottle of wine that I thought was "English". When it arrived, the label said "British wine" which of course meant that grape juice arrived in a 45 tonne road tanker to be fermented somewhere in the UK. This is not the kind of stuff that a reputable restaurant puts on it's wine list. I sent it back before opening and replaced it with an excellent New Zealand white. My guests were generally satisfied with the food they ordered. I ordered Belly Pork which was 50% soft fat. It tasted as if it had been reheated. The pork crackling was anything but - a jelly like mess! The plate was piled high in a manner most unappetising. There was far too much food presented without thought or pride. I complained and I was told that the chef had been informed. There was no offer of recompence of any kind - no jesture to say sorry. I did not expect a lot. I have no plan to return - Ever!

« What an absolute dump! »

Aim for the Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Stoke on Trent instead. The Shittington Hall at Worst Western is old fashioned, not business-traveller focussed, crap food, water in the scrambled eggs, cockroaches landing on the bed from the ceiling in the middle of the night, wet towels (probably used) still in the bathroom hanging up as new ones. You are probably better off sleeping in your car than this dive.

« Good hotel with great food for 3 star »

Just here for one night but to date - lovely, helpful staff, clean and comfortable room. Best surprise for a hotel at this grade - food is really good and bar prices very reasonable. Try the smoked haddock - gorgeous. Will recommend to colleagues.

    « Ok for price »

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel but this time I felt a little disappointed. The room was very hot due to not having air con and the window doesn't open far. There's a heated towel rail in the bathroom that is on scolding hot 24/7 with no means of turning it off. The hot water is extremely hot so be warned if travelling with kids! Fresh fruit selection at breakfast is very minimal but the hot selection is really good. Breakfast was due to finish at 10am but at 9.38am they had ran out of pastries. Waitress said they didn't have anymore but would check & came back with 1 croissant for a family of 3.

    « Tillington Hall »

Good hotel, comfy beds, sky big plus, bathroom good but shower over bath not my favourite, feels cheap!! also plug release seized. I would rate it good, a little expensive for a 3* !! £111 a night with breakfast. I would use again.

    « Wedding Meal »

Had our wedding meal and stayed a couple of nights in July. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful, really good service. From the first organisation, sorting out the menu, letting us choose where the tables were to breakfast the following day, couldn't fault any of it. Helped make the day really special. Thank you

« Great stay and staff »

Stayed for a quick course my company sent me for and love the place... Staff great and tested a few ales and relaxed thank you. Rooms are comfortable and are quick to help you. Near by is a store if you need it and a bank machine. Of course the people in the area are very helpful maybe because I am an American but if so then thanks and God Bless the Queen

« Nice Hotel, good value »

Stayed at Tillington Hall Hotel for Business. The room was quite acceptable with a good size TV. Internet speed was good. I managed to get a great deal through the website for booking, selecting their Leisure Break option that was about half the regular price. All round a good place to stay with plenty of parking. Breakfast also highly recommended..

« Clean rooms and a comfy bed »

I stayed here for a week whilst working near by. It is a reasonably sized hotel with free parking. It was very hot whilst I was there and my room was roasting, however, there was a fan in the room which was great. Housekeeping was good and there was a plentiful supply of tea/coffee and biscuits. I did not eat in the hotel but my colleagues were positive about the food. There was Sky TV in the room which offered plenty of choice! There is a Co-op store nearby for essentials and it is only a few minutes drive into Stafford centre if you need more. I would stay here again, particularly given that it is so close to the M6.

    « Excellent stay. »

I recently stayed here for a business meeting and have to say how wonderful it was. The room was very clean and well maintained. The food was superb! The presentation was very impressive. Cocktails were also very delicious. Thank you to all. I will definitely recommend and be back.

    « Wedding Reception »

We had our wedding reception in the Garden Suite. Everything was amazing including the weather! Pretty much all of our guests commented on how good the buffet was. The service was excellent and there was never a queue at the bar with over 120 guests. They were very accommodating in allowing us to set the room how we wanted and guests that stayed in the hotel all had good things to say. A night to remember.

« Perfect hotel for an overnight stop »

This hotel is very close to the M6 junction, but has an independent hotel feel. The rooms are well furnished and clean. The food in the restaurant was tasty, with a good vegetarian choice, and the service excellent. The breakfast was an ample buffet with a good selection of fruit and hot and cold items. They make poached eggs on request. However, the coffee is truly terrible, and there is no real ale on tap (although some bottled beers) Overall, a good place to stay.

    « Fabulous food »

I recently dined with one of friends in the restaurant at Tillington Hall Hotel on Tuesday evening. I was very pleased with both the food and the service. The food presentation was spectacular and I shall most definitely be returning in the future.

    « Very helpful staff »

Had a comfortable overnight stop here and would recommend this hotel. It was clean, comfortable and good value for money. All the staff were efficient and helpful, particularly Ruth on reception. The breakfast was good and the evening meal even better. The hotel was not particularly busy, I don't know why, but it suited us.

« Alton Towers - Did the Job! »

Me and my family stayed here for 2 nights as part of the online Alton Towers package. Let me start by saying that it is a good 45 minute drive to the resort from the hotel. You are on very bendy country roads the entire distance and I recommend a sat nav to assist as there are a lot of left and right turns during the commute. The hotel itself is very basic. Expect no frills. I must stress that I am in no way complaining about that due to the very good deal we got through the Alton Towers booking page. The rooms and hotel are dated and the breakfast is average at best. However it is quiet and clean and we all got a goods night sleep, ultimately that is all we needed after spending all day at the theme park.

    « Functional yet comfortable »

This hotel delivers what you need in terms of a decent nights sleep - comfortable bed, shower that has sufficient water pressure, and quiet location. What I found a bit below par was breakfast. It is all self service - which I find annoying while you wait to toast the bread etc. coffee lacklustre and insipid fruit juice. There was a cooked option, which was typically greasy spoon level. Staff friendly and helpful. Overall for the price it was adequate for 1 night.

    « 1 night stay »

Good value, comfortable hotel. Unfortunately our shower didn't work and we had cold water. The staff were very apologetic however when we told them. Good meal in the restaurant and good value for money.

« Very Friendly and Comfortable »

A last minute booking the night before found me at The Tillington Hall Hotel which was very comfortable with friendly & cheerful staff. A pleasant stay - I would recommend to anyone needing an overnight stop (or longer) in the Stafford area.

    « Poor breakfast. »

The hotel was fine and the staff helpful. The first morning the only eggs on offer were scrambled. I asked for a poached egg sand I was told they couldn't do one "it would take too long". They provided a fried egg floating in a plate of oil. The next day 3 of us asked for fried eggs but were told it wasn't possible as "there is only one chef on". There were about 100 of us there on a reunion and other guests. Poor planning?

    « Tillington hall »

I had read the reviews so was apprehensive, however its close to the M6 has plenty of parking, has local facilities within minutes walk. The reception staff (2) were polite efficient and friendly. The room 314 had a view over the grounds, had all the facilities you would expect and was very clean. There are several area's to sit in down stairs with televisions, its free Wifi and the hotel bar is stocked to an ok standard. The evening meal was very nice, home cooked ham with trimmings and the cheesecake was very nice. There were I would say about seven staff on in the bar/restaurant and seeing it was very busy the waiting time was not unreasonable. The staff checked several times to see that we had ordered, received at orders, were happy with them etc The barman especially deserved praise.

    « Poor quality &overpriced. »

Very expensive for accommodation. Unable to close bedroom window. Uncomfortable bed. Poor lighting in room. TV did not work. Food was not to standard and very limited menu. Would not recommend when so many other hotels in the area.

« Staff and food great but not enough staff!!! »

Stayed here on a short break and found the staff to be excellent! However, having to wait 20 mins to check in due to only one receptionist being on is poor. As is the wait for a drink in the bar which was about another 20 minutes, the bar member was busy doing a room service but there was only one member of bar staff on? Service was better in the restaurant as there was 4 or so people in there. Later in the evening I had a problem with my shower and tried to get attention from someone, however, in the evening they only have one member of staff on to look after 80 odd people. Not that I was surprised. It must be said that the service was excellent but they seem over burdened with the lack of staff.

    « Short break »

Hotel very clean room very spacious. Staff very polite wifi a bit touchy some times it works. Very peaceful not far from M6 j14 nice park next to hotel. Used it for 2 days at Alton towers only 30 minutes away booked for 3 nights very good price with park tickets including breakfast

    « Average »

Reunion arranged for AGM. Room clean, problem with my shower falling off wall during night, fixed while on a day trip. Breakfast poor choice, scrambled eggs not willing to poach or fry as only 1 chef for 133 people! More kitchen staff, less people clearing tables. Choice of food for gala dinner not brilliant. Served like school dinners! Reception staff helpful.

    « Very Good »

After taking approx 10 mins to book in, the receptionist was on the phone and checking her personal phone at the same time. The room was very comfortable and had everything on hand from iron to coffee making facilities. Dinner was very good with a good choice to suit everyone. Only downside was, as it was very warm outside, the room was roasting inside, had to sleep on top of the bed with windows open all night

    « Lovely old hotel . »

A lovely clean and pleasant hotel, but the wait for meals, far too long. Lots of staff so couldn't understand why we waited 30 minutes before the starter came, and then another 45 minutes before the main course came, all set up in a dining room, that was stuck at the back, we were on a coach party of about 35 and when the food came it was dried up. Such a pity because it could have been so much better. The bedroom was so clean and comfy. The dinner just let it all down. Made up for this by a super breakfast. Easy access to Wales and the South. The restaurant needs someone to get in there and sort the service out, One of the ladies at the table did go and ask was there a problem? It was too late to have a desert and tea or coffee at nearly 10.00 in the evening, when we sat down at 7.45 pm there was plenty of staff, and I have never seen this before, in between courses the staff starting to clear the tables of side plates and glasses and the other cutlery! Best Western can do a lot better than this.

    « Surprising »

Generally Best Westerns are very average in my experience. This hotel bucks that trend. The staff are great and the food in the evening is pretty good and great value, breakfast is average. I stayed for two working weeks, one week in a standard room, the second in an exec room. Both are ok, large double bed and to a reasonable standard. Get an upgrade if you can as the exec rooms have a large bath and are just a bit nicer. The bar area is quite nice with some garden furniture outside ( prices are high though (£4.35 for a pint of lager) All in all good value comfortable place with lovely staff. Best Western need to get rid of the awful signs they use !

    « Mum's 90th Birthday Lunch 21st May 2016 »

Four months in the planning, 35 of us from all around the country converged on Tillington Hall for lunch to celebrate Mum attaining 90 not out and could not have chosen a better venue. Sales Co-ordinator Meghan, a consummate professional who should be highly prized by her employers, had patiently guided me through the planning and ensured that all our extra requests were in place on the day. Meghan was always available both in person and by email and her unfailing ' can do, no problem' approach is genuine and remarkable. We had the Conservatory to ourselves with the tables arranged exactly as we wished - mobility access throughout the hotel is first class- and were given free rein to bring our own table decorations, place cards, balloons, cake etc. The meal was outstanding, really good value for money, vegan and gluten-free options supplied without fuss and the serving staff were very pleasantly efficient - also patient with those of us who had forgotten what we had ordered! Unlike other so-called bigger name local venues we have used in the past, there was absolutely no pressure to leave the tables after the meal, so we were able to make an afternoon of it. After an interval for a power nap, some of us reconvened in the evening at the bar for the post mortem! To summarise, for any family function, forget the rest as Tillington Hall is the best!

    « A lovely hotel. »

A lovely hotel just a couple of miles from the town centre. Easy parking. Clean and large reception. We had a Felix room which was fabulous. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Follow the hotel on social media to get 10% off. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. As we're most of the staff we met.

    « Second visit »

Stayed previously as we were attending a Dog Show at the nearby County Showground so booked again as dogs are welcome. Lovely spacious, clean room and very friendly welcoming staff on reception desk. We ate in the restaurant as we had previously enjoyed it but unfortunately this time the service was appalling. We had to wait ages before our main course arrived and then again another very long wait for our dessert. We would not have bothered if we had known that we would have to wait so long but as there were only a handful of other customers in the restaurant we did not expect such bad service. The food was OK but not good value for money. Breakfast was OK, nothing special. Would stay again but would not bother eating there.

    « A cautionary tale »

One of our party ended up being relocated to another Hotel, OK the Best Weston agreed to pay for that but he had booked in for 2 nights and after 1 night his room was occupied by others and his belongings removed & then held behind reception. Not good for him or the rest of our party, the hotel didn't really offer an explanation or any other option. A sour note for us all, unfortunately & cost of taxis & team breakfast spoiled.

    « Overnight on business »

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Tillington Hall. Check in was easy and my room was clean and tidy and plenty spacious for my needs. The staff were all very pleasant and nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was excellent and i would happily stay here again.

    « It's not as described! »

I'm staying right now and can honestly say that it doesn't fit the description given by BW. It is not in a leafy location, it is in the medley of a holding estate. The food was awful (greasy, lacked colour and was just not nice). Colleagues and I asked for bottles of water at 2100 only to be told there was only 2 bottles of still water left in the hotel. The staff were polite but this hotel is a really poor reflection on Best Western? Never again.

    « A lovely hotel »

Loved this hotel very clean through out food was amazing good choice . Staff were very well trained polite and nothing was to much trouble for them , best western will always be my first choice of hotels in future.

« Not a bad place to stay in Stafford »

Stayed here because it's close to my sisters house rather than by choice. We had a discounted deluxe room which was large and pleasantly appointed with quality furniture. Room was clean with a comfortable bed and Sky TV, not sure which channels as we didn't look for the sports or movies. Hotel is quite old, typical Best Westerns which I don't find to be a bad thing. Bathroom was large with a bath and clean though there was some staining on the walls. Breakfast was pretty standard self service buffet with premium sausages. I didn't try the WiFi so can't comment on it. Overall for the price we paid, £108, it was good value. It's a little old and in need of some repair in the communal areas but the room was better and if you need a hotel in the area I wouldn't dissuade you. I would say though that the standard rooms looked quite a bit smaller than ours.

    « long Weekend »

we were part of a large group that stayed here for a Line Dance Weekend. The Hotel has a Central location, It was clean, the rooms were comfortable, the food was tasty and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to come back

« Only one downside but ruined the experience »

Visited this weekend just gone and was pleasantly surprised by the hotel, food was excellent and the majority of the staff service was great! However, the bar staff let this place down as they were hardly present and when they were their service was poor as was there language. If I was a manager of this place I would be ashamed to hear such language coming from my employees.

    « Easter lunch »

We came here for easter lunch and the food was lovely. All well cooked, great portions of veg and the staff were friendly as ever! The Yorkshire puddings were great! I look forward to our next visit. The three courses on a Sunday were only £14.50! Great value.

« Nice staff, Good food »

Stayed at hotel for 5 nights for work purposes. Hotel was ok, all the staff were really nice. Was supprised by the quality of the reasturant food, it was excellent and not overpriced, very good value (had 5 meals and breakfasts), breakfast is really good!

    « very good stay »

staff where excellent nothing a problem the food was brilliant the day time and evening compliments to the chief overall lovely stay and thanks to all the staff .the rooms where spacious end very clean ,seen some bad reviews love to see where those people live nothing at all wrong with the place once again thanks to all the staff

    « Lovely Wedding Venue »

We recently attended my Godson's wedding here and had a fantastic day. The venue was comfortable and beautifully decorated for both the ceremony and the meal. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was fantastic, including catering well for younger children.

    « Not bad. »

I spent four nights here on business. This is a basic but comfortable hotel. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is centrally positioned. There is no gym on site but there is a PureGym very close to the hotel. I stayed in room 308 which is on the 2nd floor and accessible by a lift. It was very quiet so good for me being a light sleeper. The room was clean if a little worn but adequate for my needs. The only real down size was how hot it was. I was confused by this as I turned the heating off and opened the window as wide as it could go. It was between 5 and 10 degrees outside and I fully expected the room to cool down but it didn't. I have no idea why this was but there was a fan in the wardrobe which I now know the reason for. I can't imagine how hot it will be in the summer. There was no safe or fridge which would have been nice. One bonus however was the sky box in the room with some great channels, this was a real treat. I only ate once in the hotel on the first night and it was not very nice. I ate Cajun salmon and home cut chips. The salmon was salty and the chips were cold. This was also the healthiest option on the menu. There were no salads and the menu was predominantly meat orientated. Breakfast was not much to talk about although the restaurant staff were happy to provide me with soya milk. There was only one member of staff each day and she coped remarkably well and was always polite. Warning if you come down for breakfast later than 8am you will get very little choice and no pastries so be warned. Wifi was excellent throughout the whole hotel. Would I stay here again ? Yes I would, it is a three star hotel and that's all it is.

    « Part way there »

Rooms vary, some refurbished others not. My room was not but my guests had an upgrade. Potential to be a great hotel & restaurant very nice. Not yet up to Best Western's usual standards. Food no better than average.

    « Pleasantly Suprised »

Not my favourite venue for a business meeting in the past but last week I attended a meeting at Tillington and things had definitely improved.Meeting room very good for a large group and the buffet was excellent. Location good

« The beds are still hard »

Having visited the hotel before we knew what to expect with regards to the room which was of an adequate size and the housekeeping team do a very good job in keeping everything clean and tidy. Unfortunately the bed and pillows still feel hard which is not condusive to a good nights sleep, why have a mattress topper that is so thin that it is useless. The roast beef in the restaurant could have been used to sole foot wear, if only the chef had cooked it on a lower heat for a little longer time. The staff on the whole are young but that is normal in this day and age in hotels of this ilk, if highly trained staff are expected then book into a 5 star establishment which will cost multiples of this 3 star hotel.

    « To be avoided »

This was like the old TV-series Faulty Towersa, but - thank God - without John Cleese. Nothing was working well. A terrible restaurant where all whole meet and roasts must be avoided at all cost. The cheeseburger is ok. Fish and chips was a very old fish deepfried in very old rancid oil. In the room everything fell appart. The water tap was lose, the water pressure in the shower was like having a small child spitting on you at its best. Very complicated TV system that cannot be operated by using the instruction, so additional instructions musdt be saught from the front desk. The personell consists of sweet and kind young girls - pleasant enough - with no measurable intelligence, with two exeptions - one in the restaurant and one at the front desk, during my 4 night stay.

    « Lovely Staff »

Brilliant, friendly staff - in particular the young gentleman on reception when I arrived at night, who was very accommodating and polite - thank you! I had a comfortable stay and would recommend the hotel and location.

    « Great Hotel »

My grandson is at University in Stafford and we always stay at this hotel. Great staff, very friendly. Lovely food in restaurant. Some may say it is a bit pricey, but you always get what you pay for. Wait in bar can be a bit slow, but did not bother us.

    « Pleasant short break »

Reasonable value leisure break. Good and relatively peaceful location between the town and M6. The hotel is functional and well maintained though a little tired and plain. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean. The restaurant / breakfast room was light and airy and very pleasant. Breakfast was acceptable but uninteresting.

    « Fire alarm @ 4am »

This was my second visit to Tillington Hall (28/29 feb2016) and over all I enjoyed my stay... The worrying part for me on this occasion was the 4am fire alarm and the inexperience of the staff responding to it.... The two gentlemen did not hide their nervousness and the term rabbits in the headlights springs to mind. There was no radio communication between the night porter and I can only assume a young duty manager! Who eventually appeared and told us all to follow him outside, whilst I might add he was already halfway out of it himself. Once outside there was no other communication between guests and staff... Not a word!!!.... Until the alarms stopped and whilst swiftly walking off to go back inside, the young man (he never introduced himself) announced we could go back in now as he had checked the corridor and I believe he said something about a fault, but at this point he was too far away with his back to everyone for us to hear properly. We were roughly outside for 15 minutes. The words spoken by the night porter "I think it's ok now" as we re entered the hotel were I guess an apt ending to the whole proceedings. Room (thank you Housekeeping), food, reception staff... Lovely. Would I stay again...... Yes.... But don't forget... Our lives are in your hands.... So fire training would be an idea!!!.

    « Overnighter before a Ferrari drive »

We chose this hotel after reading really good reviews on this site. The reception staff were polite and professional, the room was on the ground floor with plenty of space for two. There were two single beds which were very comfortable, plenty of storage space and a well equipped bathroom facility, really pleased with the hotel. We decided to have our evening meal there, the food was of a good standard, quantity but my wife's Fillet steak was over cooked, (when asking for a streak to be medium to rear it should not turn out to be well done) for the price the standard of food could of been better.

    « Friendly service »

I stay here on a regular basis, always getting good value for money. The accommodation is pretty good without being luxurious, but the thing that separates the Tillington Hall from many other hotels is the friendly quality of service that I always receive. The evening meals are good, but the way in which the food is delivered is excellent, with warm and friendly service. I shall keep coming back as long as that remains the case

    « 3 course meal for 4, couldn't ask for more! »

Did not expect the food to be so good! Well presented tasty homemade served with a smile and all 4 of us had 3 different courses and thoroughly enjoyed the food, hats off to the chef! Don't be put off by slightly old fashioned decor if you want great food served by friendly staff try here! The charcuterie starter was generous and tasty and the fudge brownie cheesecake was to die for! Can't wait to go back here

    « Poor quality hotel »

Room was smelly and basic. Hotel staff did nothing to rectify this problem. Room service was not very good. Last night took them three attempts to get the order right. Not three star hotel and staff not very friendly. Showers were poor and water dribbled out. Not a good stay!

    « Excellent Team »

Forced to stay in hotel due to boat sinking, but the team here made our stay a real pleasure. Hotel is great value, rooms are nice and functional and food in restaurant is way above expectations. However, it was the staff here who made the real difference: breakfast lady cares about standards and can't do enough to help; housekeeping team likewise; other front of house staff friendly, helpful, smiley. A credit to the owners.

    « Excellent friendly service »

Stayed here for three nights and enjoyed all aspects of our stay. All staff were extremely helpful and friendly and eager to resolve any minor issues. An excellent range of choice of breakfast items were available right to the end of service. We would definitely stay there again.

    « Decent »

Overall I had a good stay. The hotel was easy to find, had loads of parking and nice friendly staff. I ate an evening meal in the bar/lounge and it was very tasty, the drinks were very reasonably priced too. I stayed in room 302 and the room itself is pleasant enough but do with some extra sound deadening over the windows. I think the window is quite old and single glazed so it wasn't the warmest or the best at keeping noise out. Perhaps thicker curtains that overlap? In general the wifi was good in the hotel but a bit patchy in the bedroom. There was also a good selection of stuff to watch on the TV, as the room had a decent sky package, which was a nice touch. Breakfast was good....a decent choice and a buffet style. Overall a nice stay, at a reasonable price and I'd stay again, if I was in the area.

    « A Very Peaceful Hotel »

The atmosphere here is very relaxed. Really comfortable beds. Shower poor. But everything really clean. Helpful Staff. Ample parking. Location Excellent just 1 mile from town and a mile off motorway, I missed breakfast so cannot comment.

    « Cant fault a thing! »

Just returned from a night away with Dinner and Breakfast at Tillington Hall Hotel I have to say I was so impressed with the hotel. Our room was spacious clean and very comfy. Not too hot. There was a fan available and all tea and coffee well stocked. The room was very quiet over night too. The Staff were lovely and helpful, full of smiles and humour. Our evening meal was delightful, steaks cooked to perfection. I recommend the chocolate brownie cheesecake! Cant fault a thing! Will Be back to stay again.

    « Room needs upgrade! »

The room I stayed in at this hotel on the top floor was tired, smelly and the shower was cold. I suspect there were other areas of the hotel that had been upgraded but this wasn't one of them. The towels were frayed and shabby, the bed was hard and the breakfast although not terrible was sadly lacking. I don't feel that the promotion of this hotel on the website was representative of the actual quality or feel of it, it was tired and in need of some attention throughout.

« Nice Stop Over and Breafast - Christmas Night »

Nice stop over and excellent room. Breakfast was good and nice relaxing as the hotel was pretty quiet. Reception Staff were good and so was the barman and breakfast team member. Never forgetting the behind the scene as to ensure is good e.g housekeeping and kitchen etc Thanks

« Comfortable hotel in the Potteries »

Conveniently located just off the M^ (Junction 14), in a quiet neighborhood, this is a comfortable Best Western property with competitive rates and comfortable rooms. We had several meals here over the New Year's period and the service was excellent. Breakfast was disappointing because everything, including hot food, is laid out buffet style, so the scrambled eggs were lumpy and congealed and the other hot food cool to cold under the "heat" lamps. Some of the sausages tasted like they had been recycled over several days. However, the dinner service was excellent and the quality of food very good. Overall, good value for money, friendly staff, and a great location for visiting Potteries museums, Trentham, Alton Towers, and other local spots.

    « Christmas lunch »

Our family Christmas Day lunch was not what we had hoped for this hotel is a has been it needs a complete makeover including the chef that cooked our poor quality dinner . Eight of us the starter was very poor the main meal terrible the sweet of creme brûlée was the highlight of my meal the waitresses could see two of our table was still eating yet still asked if we were finished this happened at each course . We would not use this hotel for future get togethers there was no festive atmosphere at all we felt that they couldn't wait for us to finish eating.

« tittington nall for christmas »

we stayed at tittington hall for christmas day and boxing day bed and breakfast with the christmas and boxing day fayre ,.The room and food where excellent we would recommend a stay at this hotel. The staff where very helpful and friendly with the service second to non.

« value for money but small improvements needed »

We recently spent a week at the Tillington while visiting Stafford and found it good value for money, warm and with helpful staff. The things which let it down are the watered down breakfast juice and extremely weak coffee served in both the breakfast room and the bar. Minor things but very important if you like to start your day with a refreshing glass of juice and a nice cup of coffee. Put an extra pound on the price of the room but stop watering the juice and coffee. It is a false economy and will stop people from coming back.

    « Lovely hotel »

I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. We were a large party who were moved at the last minute to this hotel (due to a heating problem at our original hotel) and the staff were very efficient at getting us all checked in and to our rooms. The room itself was very comfortable and clean, with a good layout and a full length mirror and plenty of mains sockets. Tea and coffee making facilities were also provided which was great. The Christmas fayre style dinner was delicious and was served pretty quickly considering how many of us there were. The buffet breakfast the next day was amazing! I arrived for the restaurant opening and the food was piping hot and plentiful. My only complaint was the queue for the tea & coffee!!! A few in our group did grumble about the noise generated by a wedding party in another wing of the hotel, but this did not bother me even though my room overlooked the party (it wasn't that noisy once windows and curtains were closed). All in all I would recommend this hotel and if I am in the area again would stay here.

    « never again!!!!!!! »

Organised a christmas family meal here yesterday. starters took half an hour, then main meal was another half hour after we finished our starters. It wasnt even busy, just our table of six,and another 1 more table. when our main meals finally arrived, 3 were cold so had to be sent back, we waited for them to come back, and waited and waited, after another half hour we gave up,and told them we no longer wanted them, the other 3 had already finished their meals. not acceptable. we certainly will not return here. get a grip tillington

« Avoid the coffee and juice »

A value for money hotel with reasonable amenities which is let down by watering down the orange juice and coffee at breakfast and in the bar. Rooms are reasonable and warm. Staff are nice. TV in room requires an engineering degree to work it.

    « Very good restaurant »

We went to this hotel for the Christmas Dinner on an organization to which I belong. The food selection was good. I had pate to start and my wife had melon. We both had turkey with the usual trimmings. Our deserts were xmas paid and cheesecake and everything was good quality, hot and served well. Plates were hot and the service was friendly, efficient and well organized. Overall a very enjoyable meal was had by all.

    « Not somewhere I would recommend »

I arrived late (nearly 1am) and the two gents on reception were very pleasant and friendly. However at the same time as me, there was another car that had just arrived to drop off a girl for one of the other guests that was waiting by the door. As I was going up to my room I had the unfortunate experience of hearing them discuss payment and how long the guy was paying for. Not really what you want to hear after a long journey. I don't think the guys on reception realised what was going on but it was quite obvious. The room itself was small and the bed small and uncomfortable. Breakfast decent. Wifi barely worked in the room I was in.

    « Excellent Christmas lunch »

48 Members of Staffordshire Trefoil Guild enjoyed an excellent Christmas lunch at Tillington Hall yesterday. The food was well presented, piping hot and served on hot plates. We'd preordered our meals as we were a large group & everything was served exactly to time. The room & tables had been decorated for Christmas and looked lovely. The staff were attentive & helpful without being intrusive. I was even asked if we needed a CD player or Christmas music. I would highly recommend the Christmas lunch and the venue. We've booked the venue for our annual meeting & lunch in March and we may well be make again in December for another Christmas lunch.

    « Enjoyable stay »

Stayed at this hotel for two nights early December. Went with my partner and our dog. The room we stayed in was spacious with a huge bed. It was spotlessly clean and the price we paid was more than reasonable. We ate in the restaurant and had bar food and it was all tasty and well presented. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. It is a great hotel if you have a dog as it is surrounded by parkland and playing fields which is handy in the morning. Only complaint would be there was nowhere to let the dog stay with us in the evening when we had a drink. I know she would not be allowed where people are eating but I can't see that sitting in the lounge at reception would present any problems. Would certainly stay here again if in the area (Close to Stafford Showground where we were going)

    « Adequate if you're passing through »

My room was a comfortable size with most amenities. It remained very warm despite closing the radiator and opening the window. Bar is small and basic. Breakfast was a basic buffet. Fine for a night but it is not a place you'd want to spend a week.

    « Bar not manned »

My wife and I popped into the bar at Tillington Hall for a cup of coffee on Saturday at tea time. We had to go to the reception and ask if they could get someone to serve us in the bar. When someone eventually came we ordered coffee and were advised that the coffee would be brought to our table. Another staff member brought the coffee to the staff side of the bar and shouted to us 'have you ordered the coffee' there was only one other person in the bar. We were expected to get up and go to the bar and collect our coffee because the 'door was locked'. Coffee was good but the service is not. As we left the bar someone else was just off to reception to ask to be served in the bar, so it is obviously a common issue to have a bar and then no staff to serve in it.

« Poor food, needs better trained staff. »

Attended a function here in November. It has been nearly 20 years since I last set foot in the place and I can't see me rushing back again. I accept that catering for large numbers is never going to achieve the levels of small top end restaurants, but on a table that I sat not a single person ate everything that was put in front of them. Tough meat, over cooked veg, undercooked potato's. The place itself looked like it needs a thorough refurbishment, not disgusting but certainly dated. Staff were polite and friendly, but not very efficient. Going to the bar often resulted in the staff having to go to a different room/bar to get what you want for basic things. If a hundred or so people are on a night out you are going to need a good stock. Waiter/esses dropping cutlery from dirty plated or leaning right across you. Shame.

« Worst meal that I can remember »

Attended a masonic dinner for 100 people, the meal was awful. Smoked salmon and salad starter, should have been salmon surprise.I found 2 small fragments. Roast beef was the main course which was so tough,no-one on our table of 10 could eat it.The meal was served, completely plated, nothing on the plate was appetising. The staffwere young inexperienced waiters and waitresses.A dreadful experience. If you are thinking of organising a dinner, forget it. Fortunately we didn't stop at the hotel

    « Much improved »

Best Western's Tillington Hall Hotel is well worth a visit. Staff are some of the friendliest we have encountered during all our different hotel stays this year. Food was of good sized portions and well presented. Hotel room was spotless has was the rest of the hotel

    « Birthday party. »

After a little mix up with reservations we did get a room. The staff on arrival were very good and answered all our questions in a professional manner. The rooms and the food were very good, and the party was a brilliant success.

    « Business Stay »

I stayed at the Tillington on Business. Reception staff was friendly and my room clean and tidy and of sufficient size. Sadly the furniture comes across as dated . Parking is plentiful which is a bonus and the Hotel has got good links to the motorway. I was slightly disappointed with the quality of their breakfast which is all presented on hot plates rather then being cooked to order.

    « Not what I expected.... »

I was a bit disappointed staying there. £98 without breakfast for a 2-3 star hotel is way over the top. My room was upgraded due to top tier points but if that was the best room the hotel could offer, then I wonder what the normal rooms were like. Very dated decor and drab, bed not very comfortable. The upgrade came only after I mentioned it by the way, the receptionist just totally missed it. The bar had a limited variety of drinks. The restaurant menu ok, bit on the dear side. I only stayed a night but I wouldn't be in a hurry to revisit. The staff, in general, mostly pleasant and helpful.

« Annual National Cattle Society Dinner and overnight stay »

From our initial contact with this hotel and from the moment we left it was all great. Our every need was catered for without question and always done with a smile. Our event went off without a hitch. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

    « Lovely overnight stay »

What a delightful hotel this is. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, we could not fault Tillington Hall. The Bistro meal was excellent and our waitress, Millie was so polite, friendly and cheerful. Being dog friendly just adds to this being one of the best hotels we have stayed at. Thank you to all the staff

    « Reunion »

What a lovely hotel. Rooms spotless . Buffet Meal first class and staff the most helpful. Back to Scotland and already my guests asking for a repeat next year. Thanks to all Backroom and front of house staff for looking after us all Billy Thomson

« Brilliant Hotel and Staff »

One of the happiest days of my life was spent at this hotel, on 1st November 2014, and Nick and his team were instrumental in making it so. My lovely husband and I got married here, and this wonderful Hotel and team made it so special. We had a family meal here the night before and the food was excellent. Most of us stayed overnight and the rooms were fantastic (especially mine, which was the wedding suite and it was amazing). The wedding day was brilliant:- Nick had everything in place, and the whole thing worked like clockwork, his team and the very talented chef made it such a memorable day.......and so, to re-live the memories of that magical day, we are celebrating our first Wedding Anniversary here, with a meal I imagine will be divine, as that very talented chef is still here. Thank you once again to Nick and his team, and I would recommend this hotel and it's brilliant team to anyone looking for a very special venue.

    « A refuge »

We stayed here while our bathroom was being refitted as we had no bathing facilities at home for over a week. The hotel was clean, warm, comfortable, the staff were cheerful and friendly. If we lived further away than 400yds, I'm sure we would be back!

« An enjoyable reunion weekend »

We gave spent the last 2 nights in room 315 on the second floor. There is a slight problem with the hot water bieng rather cool at times. I told reception about it, and when we came in from being out this afternoon there was a bottle of wine and an apologetic letter with the key to another room - we had the option of just using that rooms bathroom or moving into the room. However, when we used the bathroom again the water was OK. I liked the good customer service and the attitude of the staff on duty. Thank you.

    « Good Quality Lunch »

After a fairly long interval a friend and I returned for lunch in the restaurant, which is situated at the front of the hotel overlooking a field and part of the car park. There were a couple of business groups in the restaurant but we were the only diners eating a menu meal. ]The lunch menu was three courses for £9 95 with bread/butter and a portion of olives a little extra. There were a reasonable number of choices and we were pleasantly surprised at the quantity and high quality of the food. In particular the portion of vegetables was excellent ie red cabbage, parsnips, carrots and broccoli. The lady member of staff was friendly and welcoming. We were surprised it was so quiet, as it was very pleasant. We were told the restaurant was due for refurbishment, but it looked very clean and light and in our opinion nothing needed doing to it. We shall certainly visit more regularly

    « Great base for UK Ironman70.3! »

The hotel staff were very helpful and even set up breakfast at 0400 to enable us to eat before going off to compete in the UK Ironman70.3. The rooms are very comfortable and the restaurant food is simple and tasty. If I sign up next year I will be staying here again!

    « Forces Reunion »

My Husband attended a Forces Reunion at the hotel 10th/11th September. The Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and public areas were clean and comfortable. We had a private Function Room allocated to us for the two nights with a private Bar and all our meals were served there. Breakfast both mornings offered a good variety, while the buffet on the Friday night was very good. Saturday we had a Dinner and unfortunately for some this was not the best. My Husband had the roast beef and couldn't get it cut it was so tough. I mentioned it to the waiter when he was taking away the plates and he said "oh dear" not even sorry. The other courses of the meal were excellent, my salmon was lovely. That was the only "blip" in what was otherwise a brilliant weekend. We would stay there again if in that area.
