I've been to many Best Westerns, this has to be one of the very best. Cleanliness and service were above average. While the amenities were very good. The view of the River from the window of the motel room. The back deck off the breakfast area was an added bonus. The pool and jacuzzi open 24 hours was another added bonus. The staff were very pleasant and very professional.
Clean and comfortable, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great breakfast, if returned to Spooner, will definitely stay here again. Room was comfortable and you don't need a silicone valley background to use the TV! Nice place. Near lots of restaurants and shops
We stayed here for one night while passing through the area. The check in process was smooth and the front desk staff was friendly. It is a two story hotel with no elevator so expect to carry your bags upstairs if on the second floor. The room was clean but dated. The air conditioner did not cool beyond a foot in front of the unit so the room remained quite warm all night. None of us slept well due to being too warm. Breakfast was typical microwaved hotel fare of sausage and scrambled eggs. The packaged donuts were bakery quality which was quite a surprise.
Great stay at this hotel. Very clean and comfortable for the entire time! I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Great check in and check out experience. Room was clean and showed attention to detail. Breakfast selection is adequate. Location is terrific, really close to down town. Excellent recommendations for places to eat.
If you are going for business, leisure, fishing, or whatever....this place is a great place to stay. Clean, very friendly, helpful staff. When we go to this part of the state this hotel is our first choice...always.
Best Western got us out of a bind when another hotel canceled all guests the day of our arrival. We scrambled to find a hotel for the Birkie weekend and Best Western had a room that exceeded expectations. We would stay here again in the future!
Had a youth hockey tournament in Siren WI. That's 30 minutes from Spooner. It's an easy drive. The facility was clean and had plenty of service. Has a nice pool. Two floors. Wide stairway. All amenities in working order.
The staff at this hotel were completely unwelcoming. We will never stay at this hotel again. We were with a sports team, the parents were present and being sure the kids were behaving (which they were), but the staff wanted nothing to do with us staying there.
My family and I came up north for a mini vacation. We picked this place cuz it had a pool. It was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at. The breakfast was really good. It was like a home cooked meal. The staff was really helpful and caring about any needs we had. Highly recommend staying here!
Clean room and friendly staff. Love that the pool is open 24 hours. Would highly recommend this hotel. Continental breakfast was also very good. There were lots of selections to choose from. Five stars.
Exceptionally clean facility and great staff. Pool was exceptional as well, very clean. Food was great and plentiful, nothing continental about this breakfast, if you walked away hungry it was your own fault.
Clean, Comfortable, Accommodations with a wonderful breakfast full of choices for any traveler. The rooms provided plenty of room even for the Pack and Play my granddaughter slept in. All of the staff were friendly, and you could see they cared for the property (picking up litter and ensuring guests had all they needed.) The "Midwest Nice" phrase could have been invented at this location.
My sisters and I have been staying at Best Western Spooner for many years when we come to town. We have never had a bad experience staying here. From the delicious breakfast choices, the very clean rooms, and the friendly staff it's a win-win staying here!
Would definitely recommend this hotel for anybody traveling alone, with a family, and/or with a pet! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great pool and hot tub experiences for my family! We'll stay again for sure!
This hotel is the best I've stayed in for a very long time. The front desk and other staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and hotel overall were very clean and well kept. I would recommend this hotel for anyone!
We paid quite a bit more than we typically do for lodging to stay here, but it was worth it. Our room faced the river, and we had fun watching a fawn frolicking in the lawn from our window. The staff was very friendly - it appears they take pride in the facility. Breakfast was AWESOME - big variety and very tasty. They even had Nutella! The room was clean, many TV channels for everyone, and beautiful pool area.
Clean, comfortable, quiet..everything you could ask for. Very friendly staff. Jade prepared our room, and made us feel quite at home. Thank You, Jade for the “little extra” you left us. We left it for the next guest!
Called Best Western and let them know we were taking care of grandkids age 2 and 6. Looking for a fun distraction for kidlins missing mom and dad. Hotel gave us a manager special price and let us check in early on Saturday! Hotel staff in general was very friendly and helpful (opened the breakfast area next to pool so we could eat our brought in pizza there)! Very nice breakfast buffet. Our 6 year old loved the Belgian waffles with strawberry topping. Our 2 year old loved the sausage links with scrambled eggs. Grandma enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. Snowmobile trail runs right by the pool so we could see snowmobiles running by,across a scenic bridge over the adjoining river! Met snowmobilers that had ridden from Hammond Wisconsin, were staying overnight to enjoy the pool and hot tub, then heading back home Sunday. Awesome stay...highly recommended!
The breakfast was really good. The pool was clean and they had a decent amount of lounge chairs out for seating. The room was nice and clean. The sheets were scratchy and not as comfortable but the bed itself was comfy. The staff was very nice.
Room was clean, beds were sooo comfortable, the breakfast food was amazing. No plastic eggs, real eggs, fluffy biscuits. Staff was so welcoming and friendly. Each time we came out, everyone was pleasant and greeted us. Spooner is an amazing town and the staff proved the same. Everyone spoke english and we could understand them.
this hotel stay was great except for the price. Book this hotel direct for best prices. I have stayed here numerous times thruout the years to visit my sister. it is clean quiet and accepts dogs. my visit this year was twice the price booking thru TripAdvisor I was charged $200 for 2 dogs for my 2 night stay eventhough I asked for pet friendly room and the agent checked that yes the hotel was pet will not book this hotel on line again. on line the hotel had one room available. when we arrived the parking lot was empty I requested a pet friendly room and the agent told me yes this was a pet friendly room. booking on line my trip that I take every year to visit my sister. becareful that you get the hotel calling their land line number do NOT book on line
Great staff friendly and clean, great breakfast, rooms where clean ice machine worked , i did flips into the pool and the hot tube was soothing my ache bones after hunting all day. I might even move in and stay all year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We stayed in the King Bed w/Whirlpool suite. The room was clean and comfortable with a good number of towels. The Breakfast was very good with a lot of options and the hot food changes daily so you don't have the same thing if staying longer then 1 day.
This hotel is conveniently located. Everything is up to date with clean, comfortable rooms and nice bedding and pillows. The pool and hot tub area is lovely. There is a hot breakfast, different every day. There is no elevator, so ask for a main floor room if that is an issue. Also, request a river view room, otherwise you are looking at the larking lot. We had a very pleasant stay!
This hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to others as a place to stay when in Spooner. They provide a good breakfast and are close to downtown Spooner.
The hotel is rather plain on the outside but clean & fresh on the inside; room was very comfortable with fridge & microwave; queen beds "just right". Lobby has 24 hr available tea/coffee service along with chips and salsa. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage patties, waffles, cereals, breads.....coffee, juice, milk.....all one needs to start the day right. Everything was very clean and VERY important for me, there were no "cleaning odors"......solvents, sprays, perfume coverups for cleansers, etc. NO odors except in the end entry way we used where someone had been obviously smokiing....grrr. The beautiful pool & jacuzzi room is open 24 round the clock . Only draw back for folks with big/heavy luggage or mobility issues is there's no elevator to the 2nd floor, so be sure to ask for ground floor room if you need it.
Hotel was clean, guest services and staff extremely friendly and helpful. We used the pool and ate the breakfast. They even had a little snack and coffee/water available when kitchen was closed!! When I return to spooner, I'll make sure this hotel is where we stay and plan to stay longer.
Spooner Best Western is located right near the county trail and on the Yellow River. Everything was spotless. The people that work there will do anything for you and go out of their way to do it! I will most definitely be going back come Spring!
Great hotel at a great location!! Walking trail right next to our hotel perfect for walking our dog; Fresh, tasty large breakfast; A pool with a bench and jets that my handicapped husband could use!! Good dining (Tonys, Tracks, Shell Lake lunch Box) close by. Plus very friendly staff!!
This was a nice place to stay. The room was clean, staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was above par. There was also a very nice deck you could eat breakfast at. Our room and the deck overlooked a nice lake or river. Price was super reasonable. Would stay again if in the area.
nice clean room pool was great as well. friendly staff > couldnt believe the breakfast had "real" eggs. Not those watered down scrambled eggs that is the usual fare. I was pleantly surprised to have a fresh fruit salad that was a great bonus. The king room was smaller than most king rooms tho it had all that was neded. i would stay there again
Great hotel with wonderful service. Rooms were very clean. Breakfast was very good!Loved all the toppings for the waffles! Liked the bags with dog treats. Hotel is in a good location; there is a trail next to hotel which is ideal for walking the dog!
This Best Western was exceptionally clean and well maintained! Staff was very friendly and accommodating! We stayed here prior to going on the Bed and Breakfast Train ride in Trego. We will stay here again for sure.
This hotel is one of best hotel experiences I've stayed. Hotel rooms were clean, very nice and helpful staff to assist you, the breakfast they served were excellent, especially the biscuits and gravy, and had variety for everyone. The pool is open for 24 hours, which was very convenient, especially didn't have to rush dinner or needed the morning swim for excercise. I did wish that they did have fitness center, but the pool did the trick. Also, the hotel was not far from any stores, restaurants, or attractions nearby, which was very nice. Overall, I will come back if I was visiting nearby again. Highly recommended.
After reading all the reviews about the free breakfast, I had to try it when I was in town. It did not disappoint! So many choices, and the strawberries for the waffles were good to eat by themselves.
There aren't many options for lodging in the area, but there are a few. We always choose this property if there is availability. The staff is great and the property and rooms are clean. They have "free" fresh hot breakfast every morning with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, omelettes, waffles, juice, yogurts, cereals, etc. The pool and hot tub are indoors and climate controlled. There's a sauna as well. We will be back!
We've stayed here a number of times and the staff is excellent and the breakfast was very nice. The rooms are clean and quiet. The staff kindly put us on a wait list so we were able to extend our stay.
Around Wisconsin Bicycle Tours had 15 rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were ready, clean and nice. We were given gifts bags. The pool and hot tub were very nice. The back deck off of the breakfast room was a really nice gathering place overlooking the river
We had a great time right from checking in. The staff was so friendly, it was a welcoming experience all around. Easy access to parking. Location was great for doing things around town at local shops and restaurants.
We enjoyed our stay at Best Western Spooner Riverplace. Have been staying here for many years and plan on many more. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Enjoyed the fact that there were 4 pillows on the bed. The shower was great. I always enjoy the waffles for breakfast.
Had some challenges on our reservations upon arrival. After driving with the family all day, we found out our rooms were not together. This was important due to handicapped family member and children. That said, Sara and her manager did what they could do to accommodate us. While we did not get the ideal situation, their efforts and concern speak very highly of them. They are the best!
The motel was totally bland and cheapishly furnished for the price during the pre season travel. Didn't try the pool. Breakfast staff worked hard to keep it stocked and nice excepy no decaf or herbal tea. Front desk staff were aloof and more interested in talking with each other.
Hotel was clean and quiet. Staff was friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good. Coffee was very fresh. The pool and hot tub were nice too. The only one thing I would mention is that the bed pillows are on the small side. Next time I would ask for extra pillows.
Clean and modern. Pool open 24 hours. Great location on the river. Love that they take pets. Good selection for breakfast. Staff handled a minor problem immediately and went above and beyond to accommodate some special needs.
Friendly entire staff ! Clean rooms 24 hour pool. We have stayed here several times a year for the past 10 or 12 years. We have found ourselves comparing all other places we stay to this property and staff !
The staff here was awesome. Check in was fast and friendly. Breakfast had a TON of choices - eggs, cheese, biscuits and gravy, cereal, waffles, donuts, bagels, English muffins, yogurts, fruits, juice, coffee...a LOT! Nice area to sit and eat that also. Pool is open 24 hours and has a whirlpool and sauna. Pillows wonderful, bed and bathrooms could use some updates to get more modern, but still nice. Note...NO elevator, so if on second floor, have to carry luggage up and down!
Staff was friendly and helpful; there was a wide vareity of breakfast items offtered; clean room, breakfast area, lobby and hallways; clean pool area. Will definitely stay at this Best Western again!!
Loved being able to go in the pool and hot tub at any time! Staff were so nice and helpful. The breakfast was so good with many options. I especially loved the biscuits and gravy. Will be coming back again.
I stayed at this hotel for three nights. We arrived in the middle of a winter storm. The check in process went smoothly. Our room was ready for us. We found the room to be clean, in good working condition, and super quiet. We were on the first floor so during busy times we did have some noise from people walking the hallway. They have the most comfortable beds! Better then mine at home. The continental breakfast had all you would expect. There were also hot scrambled eggs along with biscuits and gravy. There is a 5G antenna right across the street so if you are sensitive, you might want a different hotel. Parking can be tight on busy nights. Most of the staff was friendly and happy to answer any questions or provide assistance. Please bring back housekeeping for longer stays. We were able to get new towels and dump the trash by asking one of the cleaning staff.
Great staff and pleasant environment. Very accommodating, pets welcome. Reasonably quiet and central to town. Easy reservation on phone with a staffperson, and clear communication by email after that. Very pleased with our stay.
Welcoming, clean and safe motel. All employees we encountered bent over backwards to please us and get us anything we needed. Hand sanitizer and washing stations all around. Remote was even placed in a plastic bag after it had been cleaned and left in our room. Pool/sauna/hot tub were in a room accessible only by room keycard.
I enjoyed staying at the Best Western Spooner Riverplace. I was in town for a class reunion. The beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good in spite of COVID concerns. Our room was clean and roomy.
I chose this hotel because it had the features I wanted, especially a microwave and fridge. The hotel was clean and spacious. But I don't want to Fox News on when I eat breakfast, and I don't need a Bible.
We had a very nice stay at this hotel. It is very clean. The rooms are small but nice. The wifi works great. The beds are not very comfortable though. They are hard & lumpy but we were tired and slept good for a few hours. We looked at the breakfast but skipped it because it didn't look very appetizing. The hotel has a nice deck to sit on and enjoy the weather. We didn't use the pool but we checked it out and it looked nice.
We stayed here for five nights in July. One of the nicest, cleanest hotels I've stayed in. I was really impressed. Extremely clean, very comfortable beds, and quiet. Request a room on the Riverside. The staff was outstanding and friendly. Sarah at the front desk was especially helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
Stayed here two nights in mid-July. Entire hotel was immaculate! Guest room surpassed all expectations. Breakfast offered multiple hot and cold choices and was very well maintained and very clean! This was one of the best stays I've experienced, either pre or post-COVID. I VERY HIGHLY recommend this hotel!
Quiet, clean, and friendly! Phones, pool, and internet are in order. Internet is a bit slow in northern Wisconsin. This month they reopened the dining room and the selection is limited but appetizing for a modified buffet line. I stay here fairly often recently and started about 17 years ago. Nice staff and easy location to everything in Spooner.
Obviously, this place is not the Ritz-Carlton. That said, it's the best option in the area. It's reliably clean and well-kept. Convenient location. Staff is helpful and friendly. The COVID-era to-go breakfast is not good. The regular free breakfast is fine. The in-room coffee is oddly delicious, while the lobby coffee tastes like sewage. It's a standard Best Western in a desert of chain hotel options. Can't go wrong here as long as you come in with reasonable expectations. I've stayed here several times over the past three years and will return.
Rented two rooms, one for three nights and one for four nights. At check in they tell you they will not enter the room during Multi night says. Therefore, they do not clean the room. They only give you a total of one little bottle of shampoo, one tinny bar of soap, one wash cloth, one hand towel, and one small bath towel for a four night stay. When I asked the manager for a roll of toilet paper to replace the existing one that ran out on the third day of my stay, she threatened to call the police on me, for requesting toilet paper. The morning meal offered consisted of one small apple or one small orange but not both, a bottle of water, and a honey bar one inch wide, a half inch thick, and three inches long.
Very nice hotel near ATV trails. Very disappointed with the breakfast. We stayed at the Best Western in Rice Lake, WI (25 miles south of Spooner) for 2 nights prior to the stay at BW in Spooner. Rice Lake hotel had breakfast sandwiches that you could heat up in the microwave, a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, etc. Spooner, BW offers a cold sack of expired fruit, a bottle water, and a fruit bar. Why are hotels in the same hotel chain so different? Both stays were during COVID. Very disappointing.
Large maskless gatherings throughout the hotel. No masks for anyone including staff. When i lodged a complaint there general manager essentially blamed me for staying there. I guess next time I'll know better
We love this property and have stayed here 2-3 times a year for the past several years. I still think the property is very clean, staff courteous and helpful. However, in light of the current pandemic and regardless of signs posted on the entry the staff at the front desk and housekeeping and guests that I encountered on 3 separate stays in October and November of this year do not wear masks. God forbid if this pandemic continues I will consider another hotel on my next trip.
We had a great view of the water. The staff was very friendly. It was a comfortable stay. Just a little noisy through the night. The pool is open 24 hours. A couple food locations are walking distance. There is a trail right next to the hotel as well. The picture we took from our window in our room.
Visiting area for fall colors. Staff was attentive and pleasant. Very helpful. Pool area was open and clean. Room and bathroom were clean. Bedding could use an upgrade. The breakfast in a bag is ridiculous. A bottle of water, an apple and a granola bar! Why can they not open the breakfast area? Bars and restaurants open, unmasked and full! Went to two area restaurants that were packed? Only negative was being accosted in lobby by another guest who complained to desk clerk about my lack of a mask. Not asking me ( and there is a documented health issue) why, very rude and lack of understanding or compassion. The desk clerk was very professional, apologized to me and told guest there was a reason (she knew and I do not want her in trouble) and she minds her business. The other guest was mouthy! Thanks to desk clerk!
Friendly, courteous staff, quick to offer assistance, we witnessed this regarding other quests, impressive! Staff makes the guests feel worthy of their time and attention, even when they are relating personal experiences, we have witnessed this multiple times during our many stays at this location.
We were in the area and decided to stay an additional night so booked a room at Best Western Riverplace rather than drive home late into the night. The check in process was quick, easy and the nice lady was friendly and helpful. We parked our vehicle close to the entrance and it was a short walk to our room. The beds, pillows were comfortable the room was spotless so we felt very safe and comfortable. We had a restful night's sleep and a good trip home. This was the second time we had stayed at a Best Western since the Covid-19 became a real concern and have been impressed with their attention to safety procedures. We will be booking Best Western Motels on our travels this winter.
Our stay was exceptional. The staff was very friendly and asked if there was anything they could do for us during our stay. The night manager gave the history of the motel site that was a creamery site in the past. She also gave me insight on the community of Spooner. We will be back to visit a couple more times this Summer.
This hotel was extremely clean and the staff had my health and wellness as its highest priority. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to or through Spooner, Wisconsin. Thanks for keeping me safe and well as I traveled.
All staff members were very helpful and friendly. We stay at this property every summer and thoroughly enjoy it. The rooms are comfortable and clean. It is very nice also that there are several pillows so that a person can sleep comfortably.
The mattress was a little uncomfortable, but the swimming pool is warmer then most places I have stayed. They also have sauna and hot tub. Around the corner great food and on the river, also 24 hour grocery.
Spooner best western staff was very nice. Rooms were clean. Same breakfast all week, could have changed it up a little bit. Pool was nice. End room was a little noisy due to the mechanical room at that end.
The hotel had construction going during breakfast instead of waiting till breakfast time was over. The had construction in hallway before 10. They had a exercise group in pool, I feel they should have that between check out time and checkin time. So guests can use the pool in the morning
The hotel is 2 story with a log cabin yet traditional style. Very homey. Stairs going up in lobby are a nice touch. The pool and hot tub were warm and clean. Nice simple breakfast and newspapers available.
Love the best westerns! They usually are clean and tidy. The pool was warm and not overly chlorinated and was the hot tub not too hard or overly chlorinated. Both nights were horrible we had hockey players around us lots of loud noise till 2 in the am. Next next had a bunch 10 yr old girls for a birthday/slumber party up till 1:30 or so. The walls seem to thin and the hallway doors were banging all night. So not much sleep. The breakfast was terrible powder eggs, cheap foods, rotten bananas, apples rotten wrapped in plastic. So in the end they gave us $50. Off our bill. So will probably try them again.
Stayed here only one night took part in the dinner train ride, staff was great, easy check in informative. Room was very clean and fresh smelling, had a king room. Pool and hot tub was great and the area was clean. Would recommend staying here if in the Spooner area.
Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Noon check out time was nice. Although we didn't use pool area we were told it was open 24 hours. Breakfast overlooking river was nice and had access to outdoor patio if the weather would have been warmer.
My wife and I stayed for one night on our way to the Superior/ Duluth area. The hotel was very clean, front desk staff very friendly and our room was also very clean with a nice comfy bed. FYI this hotel does not have elevators although it is only a 2 story building. Only one mild complaint is that the breakfast didn't have any meat served which we thought was odd. But that in no way soured our visit. If ever in the area again we would most definitely stay at the Riverplace again!
Best 'Best Western" we have ever been to. Motel is very clean. Breakfast is very good! Love the pool & hot tub & being available 24 hours 7 days a week. All of the staff is very friendly, polite, professional but yet fun & numerous to talk to.
We always stay at Riverplace when visiting Spooner. The location is convenient, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the facility is great. Breakfast options are many. We enjoy the waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and the yogurt. Coffee is excellent!
Staying for one night while traveling. Requested ground floor and got it. Outside appearance is 100%. Inside public areas are spotless and well maintained. Room was perfectly clean and very well maintained. Room for trailer parking. If you want the quietest rooms request the back side. The ONLY complaint I have is that my toilet was round, not elongated and it wasn't comfort height. It was short. I didn't know any hotels still had these. The bathroom was absolutely spotless. The employees were very polite and helpful. There's a McDonald's and a family style restaurant in a short walking distance.
We were pleasantly surprised by all the amenities for the price at Best Western Spooner Riverplace! We liked the sauna, hot tub, and pool. Breakfast was good. The customer service was terrific! And, had we known, we would have walked to dinner, it was so close! This was a perfect start to our holiday weekend vacation! Thank you!
Room was clean and comfortable. Pool and hot tub area were clean and water was a nice temperature. Sauna is nice. Plenty of towels and pillows in the room. Nicely decorated and clutter free room. Friendly and responsive staff.
Riverplace is best motel in downtown Spooner. It's clean; our bed was comfortable. Our room had a generous allotment of towels and toiletries. Lighting in the room is bright. There's plenty of parking. Guests can easily walk or bike on the Wild River trail that heads both south to main street (Walnut) or north toward Sarona.
Modest hotel in Spooner. Property and room were clean. Service from staff was spot-on. I chose this hotel because of name recognition compared to other offerings in the area. Will stay here again when I return to the area next year.
this motel went out of their way to make our stay pleasurable staff were excellent and friendly maids went out of their way to make our room nice and comfortable. this is my go to when i travel to spooner wi
It's a perfect standard Best Western. Beds were comfy, rooms were quiet and clean, all was good. Bathrooms are tiny though. In addition to that the doors open inwards so you have to choreograph a little at times. Husband said the water pressure in the shower is outstanding.
Spent one night at the Spooner WI Best Western and it was a very nice, clean place. Breakfast was typical fare, but higher quality than done chain hotels. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again without hesitation!
If you are traveling in the Spooner WI location this is the hotel to stay at!! It is located in the center of the quaint town and is clean and updated! Breakfast was a plus also. The price was great and the staff very friendly
Staff is always nice and willing to help. Highly recommend staying here vs anywhere else . Off location workout facility is just up the road. Back deck is a nice place to sit and relax outside. If looking to stay anywhere in North West Wisconsin, this is your place.
Stayed for a family Easter get together. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Great location. Close to shipping, Restaurants. Enjoyed the shopping downtown, along with the Roundman Brew Pub. Will be going back to Spooner soon.
wonderful staff, helped with every thing they could. pool was well maintained and tested. The only thing that I found to be less than perfect would be the breakfast. the bacon looked like it was soaked in oil.
We stayed in Spooner for the night because our cabin had so much snow we couldn't park the vehicle in the drive and it was raining. It was a very enjoyable stay. The desk person was extremely helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable and the room was well appointed. I was surprised at how neat and clean the room was and actually the whole facility was well taken care of. Just because Spooner is a small northwoods town doesn't mean you can't find a good place to stay. The hot breakfast bar was also very good and kept stocked.
I stayed at the Spooner Best Western to attend a business meeting in Spooner. The staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I was unfamiliar with the area, and they went out of there way to help my with my travel needs. Thanks Best Western staff!!
Came to town to drop off some furs at Great Northern Fur to be tanned. Stayed the night as we live 4 hours away. This hotel was nice, clean, comfortable, affordable! We stayed super bowl night and enjoyed being able to walk to other establishments. McDonald's, Kwik Trip, pizza place lots within walking distance!
Really enjoyed our stay at Best Western, Spooner, WI. Staff and management were very pleasant and helpful. They always stopped what they were doing to assist the guests. Rooms were clean and breakfast was good. We will stay there again on our next visit to Spooner.
The staff were super nice, the rooms were clean, large breakfast selection and the pool/sauna area was open 24/7! I would highly recommend staying here, especially if you are snowmobiling in the area, the trail is right next to the hotel, you don't even need to go down a city street!
Great place to stay in Spooner. Friendly staff and was very clean. Pool was open 24/7 which is best idea I have seen at any comparable hotel. I used the hot tub until 1am. Decent breakfast with very good scrambled eggs but no meat. Decent cofffee too.
your average room make up. The cost for the weekend was almost $350 for Friday and Saturday night. That's a lot for a town size of 2,500 people. I wouldn't go back. The beds are like sleeping on bricks. The pillows are half the size than they should be. I wasn't impressed with the breakfast. The biscuits were hockey pucks and one waffle maker made more long lines to use it. A lot of hairs in the bathroom when I first opened it.
I will drive several miles to stay at this location vs anywhere else in North West Wisconsin. Even though they do not have a work out room at this location you can use a local fitness center that is one block away for free. Just ask the staff and they will give you a key card to access the location.
Very nice rooms. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. No extra fee for pet and hotel has a very large green space as well as a great recreation trail next to it. I hope all pet owners respect this opportunity and pick up after their pets. Breakfast was the only part that wasnt excellent; no meat choice for keto fans, choices heavy on carbs and the biscuits were quite awful. Everything else about the stay was wonderful.
We have stayed at many hotels throughout the years for many sport tourneys and this was by far, the best experience. The staff was warm and welcoming. The hotel was clean and decorated adorably for Christmas. The staff interacted with the parents and kids. For a small town this hotel provided much more than expected.
The hotel was very clean, staff very friendly. Loved the hot tub. That too was very clean. Adequate pool, plenty of towels. Breakfast was good, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy with biscuits were very good. Nice and hot. No complaints on the food. In town for the dinner train. I liked that they had outdoor seating off the breakfast room along the river. There is even a gas grill that the guests can use. Grilling tools available if you ask. We didn't use the grill, but would be cool to grill burgers or steaks if staying for a few days.
My husband stayed for the first two nights for work and raved about the friendly service and clean room. On the third night, our pup and I were able to join him and we too received a very friendly welcome! Although our room was parking lot side of the hotel, the breakfast area was on the river side. Breakfast was very good with many hot and cold options. A trail runs alongside the hotel which was very nice when walking our dog.
BW was clean, with convenient location, and near a beautiful trail. We were so grateful for Jenna and her kind mannerisms. She made us feel comfortable under a stressful situation. She also was willing to help is in any way. We didnt eat the breakfast, but it smelled nummy. Thanks again Jenna!
This is my go-to hotel when I am in the area. The staff is always pleasant, the rooms are clean and I love that the pool is always open. I have been stopping here for years and have never had a bad experience.
We were in the Spooner area for a wedding. It appeared that there were 2 weddings in or near town the weekend we were there so the hotel was full. The hotel staff from the front desk to the folks cleaning the rooms were so very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the breakfast good. The patio overlooking the river is a plus. I would most definitely stay here again.
our stay at this location was pretty ordinary. The rooms are a little tired and breakfast was pretty meager. The coffee was very tasteless, more watery than coffee. The front desk staff was very nice. The location is quite pretty on the water but it needs a little refresh. The food items for breakfast could be healthier and fresher. Maybe something other than white breads, bagels and muffins. Rooms are smallish and our door did not lock properly but we locked from inside with the deadbolt. Might stay somewhere else next time.
We were in town to ride the dinner train. There are not a lot of lodging options nearby. We were pleasantly surprised. Very nice facility, nice rooms, good location. Good breakfast options. Our only disappointment was the walls are a little thin. The room next door had their TV on until 2:00 am - shouldn't be able to hear that.
I was travelling on business and got in late. Staff was friendly & welcoming. I stayed 2 evenings. The hotel features a 24 hour pool, so I was lamenting forgetting to bring a suit. Most hotels have paper thin walls that lets you hear everything going on in the hall. It was a quiet night, but I thought the walls were a bit better than the baseline for protecting from hall noise. The refrigerator and microwave are always nice when travelling. The shoebox bathroom was small but adequate and clean. The beds are where this hotel loses a star. Beds were pretty firm, but not really uncomfortable. The pillows were horrendously inadequate! No support whatsoever. Two pillows stacked didn't help. For the love of your neck, bring your own pillow! I have been trying to get my neck "crunched" back into place for two days now. Ouch! Breakfast was a nice offering: one day there was biscuits & gravy and scrambled eggs; the second day it was scrambled eggs and sausage. I'm not sure why, but both days the eggs & sausage/biscuits & gravy were barely lukewarm. Maybe the heating element on the pan warmer was out? They also had the standard fare items: bagels, danishes, yogurt, fruit, cereal, etc. Waffles were also an option, complete with strawberries & whipped cream. That was a nice touch. There is a deck you can sit on outside if the weather is nice to enjoy your breakfast with a riverfront view. Take advantage if you can!
We stayed here while on a motorcycle road trip around Wisconsin. We got the room with the whirlpool tub in it, and that was FABULOUS after 4 straight days on a motorcycle. And for July 2, it was a great rate for that room. Breakfast was fine, the hotel was quiet. Staff was very friendly. There is a laundromat just across the street, as well, which was perfect for us halfway through our trip.
Great all around! The front desk staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We got in late and really appreciated the late hours for the pool and spa. Everything in our room was clean and inviting. Excellent, well-stocked breakfast. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer, but we were traveling on business and had to leave early the next morning.
Just spent 2 nights one night was perfect second night we had a 10 pm big foot above us. Hot tub after 70 miles of bicycling was great. Breakfast was pretty good eggs and sausage one day eggs and biscuits the next day 3 cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, bagels. fruit, ... Given the size of this hotel I was surprised they had only one 2 slice toaster Staff was great every person seemed to want to go out of make our stay the best. There were plugs bedside to allow cpap use without unplugging anything.
We had a king whirlpool suite at a very reasonable rate during the busy summer months. Quiet room, nice sheets, nice view overlooking a small river. Very friendly and patient front desk worker. The complimentary breakfast and coffee could be improved, that's my only complain.
I felt it was a safe place to stay. And I would suggest to anyone to stay. The beds were comfortable. The pillows could be softer. The bathrooms were clean. It was not noisy. The breakfast was good and the employees were very helpful and pleasant.
The best western in Spooner is always clean, staff always friendly and on the ball. Breakfast is a bonus, with great coffee and juice. The pool is well maintained and hot tub clean. The rooms are comfortable and well stocked, beds and furniture comfortable. We have stayed here many times and have no complaints other that the guests letting their children walk down the hallways dripping wet, they have towels you know.
Stayed 2 nights in December and BW Riverplace was very accomodating to our family. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff who were very helpful! We enjoyed the pool, hot tub and sauna as well. Breakfast was nice with a view! Such a great value for the price!
This is a nice hotel to stay. I stay here every time I am in Spooner, WI. The staff is friendly, the hotel rooms are clean, there is pool to use with hot tub, and breakfast as well. There are restaurants nearby.
From the time I checked on until I checked out this was a great experience. Staff who is kind and helpful the room was clean and fairly updated. I will stay here again when I pass through on business.
This is the best of the best places to stay in the greater Spooner area. It is conveniently located near shopping and restaurants. The scenic view from the breakfast room overlooking the river cannot be beat. the staff goes out of their way to insure you are comfortable and are very knowledgeable about events and attractions going on in the area.
This is a perfect hotel in the heart of Spooner. The hotel is clean, breakfast is great and generous. The pool area is warm as well as the pool water. They have fluffy towels!! (It's the little things!) This is super close to the Tracks Restaurant, and they have an amazing fish fry on Fridays. This was our second stay and we will be back again.
Clean and comfortable. Convenient location. Was in town to visit family. Cousins stayed here as well. Pool and sauna was nice. Hot tub wasn't working. A full breakfast, was tasty, not just continental.
Excellent staff. Couldn't have been more accommodating. Made our trip very comforting under trying circumstances. Nice pool area and deck overlooking the river. Will be staying there whenever I'm in the area. Thanks again to the entire staff.
I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. Very nice hotel with a friendly staff. The breakfast is very good, waffles, eggs, baked goods, etc. If you're in Spooner I would recommend staying here. It's a great location to downtown Spooner.
The best hotel stay I have had in years! We stayed for 2 nights being in town for a funeral. The pool in opened 24 hours. There is hot coffee and tea all the time. The breakfast is always clean and replenished and lasts for hours! Many choices both hot and cold. The rooms are nice sized and clean! The grounds are beautiful right next to snow mobile trails with the river right off the back deck. The best part was the staff! Everyone was so nice, friendly, and helpful!
NO elevator, two story. would have liked higher toilet. Nice water view on one side, road view on other. Not a lot of night road noise on road side. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Various things breakfast menu items. Had the weather been warm, they even had a nice outside space overlooking the water. Rick who checked us in was helpful in directing us to Tracks for supper and making sure I got the double points on my BW membership card. Couldn't find any brochures about the area, but another helpful staff member showed us where they had been moved.
Great stay. Nice hotel, comfortable. They had pool and exercise rooms that we didn't use but looked very inviting. We loved that there was chips and salsa as an appetizer before going to our room! Great staff. Breakfast with hot food is great. The hotel was very close to biking trails which was the purpose for our trip. Bikes to Rice Lake and back.
Trying to find a decent hotel can be frustrating when you're out in the hinterlands, but the Best Western Spooner Riverplace fills the bill well in this corner of Wisconsin. This hotel is a solid choice. It's a basic, two-story structure with no elevator, but the rooms are nice and housekeeping is excellent, along with care of the grounds. There is an indoor pool and hot tub area that is open 24 hours. We found the staff to be extra friendly and helpful. A complimentary breakfast includes a waffle iron and the usual items for this class of hotel. The WiFi worked flawlessly. There is also a McDonald's within very easy walking distance, if fast food is on your menu. It seems like a very safe, secure neighborhood. We give the Best Western Spooner Riverplace a big thumbs up.
The hotel, owner, and staff made our visit awesome. The facility was clean, well cared for, up to date, and comfortable. The bed was more comfortable that my bed at home. Traveling with 3 generations of a family, all were pleased and comfortable with the accommodations.
This motel has gone way downhill since my last stay 2 years ago. Shower temperature was luke warm at best in the morning. Room was not made up one day. Breakfast options were limited and there were no healthy options. Room key cards had poor magnetic strips and required multiple swipes to unlock door. Breakfast trash can overflowed. On plus side room was clean and coffee was available 24/7. Staff was friendly.
The staff at this location is tremendous. They are so helpful and friendly. You feel like you are staying with family. The hotel is clean and very warmly decorated. The breakfast choices are great. The waffles are the best!
We can't say enough good about this Best Western in Spooner Wisconsin. Of ALL of our stays in motels this is absolutely our favorite motel. We always try to stay at BW hotels but can't always get in. We love this motel & all the staff who work here. They make you feel at home & like family & always make sure your stay is a pleasant one. We also love that the pool & hot tub are open 24 hours. We are late night people & totally appreciate this feature! This motel is a perfect role model for all other motels everywhere!
Desk staff was very disappointing, Reservation was mixed up and they were unable to give me the room I requested, I was told I would get a discount and never got that. I was given receipt for the wrong room at checkout, I have had good service all my other stays at Spooner.
Clean hotel with continental breakfast, but the breakfast needs to be adjusted as it was not good this stay. It is in a great location and rooms are always clean. It would be nice if some rooms had a pullout couch available.
Need some covering for us smokers room was ok tv remote needed batteries bed was pretty hard but overall nice place to stay would stay again even for a small town place. Good location in town right on hyway
The caring staff made our stay very comfortable, from the check-in process to the above average continental breakfast. The security for the outside property was excellent. We will definitely stay here again!
We had a beautiful weekend in the Spooner area hiking and seeing Crex Meadows and migrating cranes. The best Western worked out to be a great hub for us. The pool was warm and clean as was our room and all social areas. The price varies on availability so book early!
Nice hotel...friendly service and good buy overall. Breakfast, pool, wifi and a good location and easy to find. Delicious bakery nearby, as well as shopping, restaurants and fast food. Easy to get to Hayward from here.
Wonderful experience from every aspect. Staff members are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean, neat, and attractively furnished. It is easily located right off Hwy 70.The breakfast is the BEST ever!!
Attractive, modern motel just off highway was convenient and comfortable. Rooms were spacious and clean. Lobby is attractive. Pool and hottub were open 24-7 which was nice. Breakfast was good and plentiful with multiple hot items plus the usual cold. Would definitely stay here again.
This is a very nice hotel with a very caring staff. It was very clean and comfortable. It was easy to find. The appearance of the hotel was inviting. I found the guest room to be cozy and safe. Would stay there again.
We were just passing thru & used rewards points for the hotel. Very definitely would stay here again. The location is very attractive. The breakfast room was large with a really nice balcony/patio overlooking the river that runs behind the hotel. The location was handy for just passing thru. Everything about our stay was pleasant.
If you are traveling the Ashland/Bayfield area this is the spot. On the edge of town. Easy to highway to Bayfield. Easy drive into to hub of Ashland. Not far from the visitor center. Staff was extremely helpful. Breakfast choices were wonderful. The view is of Lake Superior and had nice area to sit outside with guests to relax in the evenings.
this is our favorite place to stay in Spooner. The staff is excellent, the breakfast is delicious, and the internet is speedy! Next time we are in Spooner, we will definitely stay at the Best Western.
See previous comments! Even this survey is too long! You should spend more time in all phases from the design to include: proper parking lot drainage, to back-up hot water during peak morning hours, to trying to clear the breakfast services before the posted time for closure, to add an elevator for the 2nd floor, to the coffee maker lacking proper condiments, to mattresses that do not "roll-you-out of bed" all night! The mattress should have been updated. The internet station for one but not a table for 2 people to sit down; the room was too small for a family. Summary: A complete lack of attention to detail in all phases! If this was the best hotel in a small town, we would hate to see the worst! I have over 2 million miles of past travel experience and this stay was not positive!
We stayed at this hotel in a suite. The outward appearance of the hotel was nothing special, however the inside was very nice. Our suite was everything we would expect. Clean and comfortable with plenty of room. The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to wine and dine. One of our favorite parts of this hotel was they had a pool and whirlpool that was open 24/7!
Very nice place to stay with a patio overlooking a river. Staff was helpful and pleasant and there was a feeling of friendliness in the hotel. The room was very clean. I We would definitely stay there again.
The adjoining 2 rooms were exceptionally clean and quiet. One was for the 2 nurses and the handicapped was for myself and my husband. A Hoyer lift was delivered from Rice Lake and the hotel gladly had it placed in the room prior to our arrival. They answered all my questions before we arrived and were so pleasant to work with. Check-in was 1/2 hour but otherwise everything was great. Our family reunion was 16 miles west of town and it was so great that my husband could be a part of it.
I honestly didn't expect much going into my stay at the Best Western in Spooner, WI. However, I was VERY impressed. Rooms were very clean (and I am really picky about this, if I say it is clean it is CLEAN), comfortable, and furnishings / decorations were up-to-date. Staff were absolutely lovely, friendly, helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Full breakfast was delicious, especially the waffles. I will be returning to the area again in December and am looking forward to my accommodations this time since I know I will be staying here. Highly recommend!!
We arrived early for check in and our room wa s on the second floor but the hotel has no elevator. The staff on duty changed us to a first floor room right away but when we got to the room it wasn't cleaned. We then said we would be back in a couple of hours. When we returned the room still wasn't cleaned. After complaining we finally got a room. Problem solved
Very nice hotel. Was getting later in the evening googled places to stay and called Best Western Riverview they had a managers special for $93.00 a night. When we got there they had chips and salsa for the guests. Swimming pool temp was great. Hot tub on the other hand was very hot. Staff said it had just been worked on so would have to check it out in the morning. Excellant breakfast scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, english muffins, toast, waffles with strawberry topping, danish, yogurt, cold cerals, oatmeal, fruit. Staff was constantly restocking. Only downfall was no elevator. Had a few spots for trailer parking. Would definetly stay again if in the area
Jenna was on staff when we checked in. She was very friendly and hospitable. Our room was very clean, very quiet. The pool was also very clean and warm. The breakfast was very good and area was well maintained. A very enjoyable stay.
We made an unscheduled stop in Spooner, and found this wonderful hotel on the river. The deck out back was a plus, and for those who like a pool, it looked nice. Breakfast was very good, and staff were friendly.
Centrally located hotel in a very quaint upper Wisconsin town. Very nice staff, comfortable rooms with river view and complimentary breakfast. Easy parking. Free Wifi. Dog friendly. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops- my favorite is The Dock, great coffee and sandwiches right on the main street of town.
We spend one night at the Best Western in Spooner Wi. I was surprised, and pleased. It is an older motel but cleaner than most of the newer more expensive places we have stayed. There is not an elevator, so keep this in mind. Good breakfast after a peaceful night.
The property is easy to find. Parking is available. There's no elevator. The room was clean. I used the iron and it leaked water, but otherwise worked well. The breakfast was okay. The staff was very helpful.
We stayed a couple of nights in Spooner for business, and in looking at the options, this one stood out. It's not the Hilton, but it is clean and well-run and has all the amenities needed, as well as helpful staff and a better than expected breakfast (it says free continental breakfast, but we had waffles with strawberries, eggs and muffins/rolls, i.e., a full breakfast). There is a small but warm pool inside, which was nice to enjoy one evening. Although the entry to the hotel faces the street, our room (and I think every room) had a lovely view of the river and lilacs in bloom, which tempted me to walk around the grounds, but it rained almost the entire visit. The beds were comfortable, the room was large enough to be comfortable for two siblings, we had several good conversations with staff, and there was really nothing to complain about. It is also right in Spooner, so it is easy to get around the town.
Not a very good value for the money. We experienced problems with the TV playback and the noise from the room above was terrible. We will not be staying here in the future. Would not recommend this motel.
We had stayed at this property last summer. When planning our vacation this year made sure we ended our day near Spooner. The property is very clean and well maintained. The sink and vanity were located outside the actual bathroom in our room. This is a feature I always appreciate.
Came to Spooned to ride the ATV trails.Right on the trail with parking for vehicles with trailers. Roo.s are very clean and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable about things to do in the area. Close to downtown within easy walking distance of many businesses.
Every chance we get when we go up to northern WI Hayward/ Spooner area we stay at the Riverside Best Western. We enjoy staying at Best Western Hotels because they are clean and friendly. The Best Western Spooner Riverside has a pool that is open 24 hours. I dont know that any other one does that. The continental breakfast is always fresh and gotta love the waffles.
I was a very nice clean hotel (nothing overly fancy). The staff was very friendly and provided quick & friendly service. Our room (as well as the rooms of many family members who were staying there as well) were clean and well maintained. The price was reasonable. Great hotel for the value.
Excellent hotel. Very clean, quiet, and comfortable. Everyone was friendly and courteous. The amenities were very easy to reach and the breakfast was good. Really enjoyed out stay and plan to stay there again.
I loved staying at the Best Western in Spooner Wisconsin because I had all the comforts of home, with scenery that was beautiful and close to nature. The balcony off of the breakfast room looks over a beautiful bridge and river. The rooms are clean, very comfortable and modern enough. The staff was polite and accommodating, the breakfast offers more choices than most and the location is in walking distance to restaurants/taverns. This is where I will stay when visiting Spooner again.
Loved the place!! Extremely clean. Great and friendly staff. Within walking distance of downtown Spooner which has some very nice shops. Back rooms have great view of Yellow River. Staff was very helpful in suggesting places to eat and trails to hike. Swimming pool was nice.
I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. Very clean and comfortable, staff was very friendly and accomodating, and not only was there a nice view of the river, but also a deck area off of the breakfast room to sit outside and enjoy. I was also very happy to discover that the White Rivers Trail runs right by the hotel. I went for a nice hike, but you could also go biking, jogging, etc. The location is also convenient - a 24 hour grocery store is just around the corner as well as a few restaurants and downtown Spooner is very close as well. I would definitely stay here again!
Easy to find, super clean room, well appointed, view of river. Staff was friendly & made us feel right at home! Pool & hot tub were clean & open 24 hrs- how cool is that? Free breakfast was great. Good selection of very tasty foods- again- very clean. Just outside the breakfast area is a nice size deck with lots of tables & chairs, a nice area to eat, have a coffee or later in the day a couple adult beverages. It also over looks the river, making it a very peaceful place. Wife & I plan on visiting the area again with this hotel the only place we'll stay. Super value for the price. Don't miss The Brickyard, outstanding old school that now sells wares from local artists-very special!
Very comfortable and clean room. Friendly staff. Loved my little getaway. The fresh fruit and salsa is awesome to have for the guests. Prices are a little high for a week day in spooner, wi. But it's the nicest place in town.
The entire staff was welcoming to our big group of out of town guests. They allowed us to reserve the breakfast/party room for a small party. All of our guests were welcomed and enjoyed the visit. We will come visit again. Thank you for an enjoyable and stress free visit!
Great staff. The staff will always take's that extra step to accommodate u. Good breakfast. And clean rooms. And the are plenty of places to eat at for lunch and dinner . And they are Quick to check u in and the same for checking u out. I always enjoy staying in spooner.
What a jewel hidden away between the lakes! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the entire facility was immaculately cleaned. Plenty of free parking, situated next to the lake on one side with McDonald's on the other. They offered complimentary chips and dip from 3-10, as well as coffee and other drinks. Good wi-fi and plenty of plug ins to use in the room.
Next time you find yourself in the North Central part of Wisconsin and are looking for a great hotel for business or pleasure be sure to make your reservations here at the Best Western Spooner Riverplace Hotel. You will be very impressed with the cleanliness and atmosphere but will be be delighted by the level of pride and caring that the entire staff dedicates to the experience of each guest.
Very nice play is such a small town. I guess I wasn't expecting it to be such a nice place. It was a pleasant surprise. I would have not gone through Expedia had I known it would have been less expensive to get the room directly through BW. Very pleasantly surprised at the whole hotel.
I checked in with a lot of baggage and accidentally left one at the front desk. The desk clerk brought it to my room before I even realized it was missing. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful!
Clean pet friendly hotel with courteous and helpful staff. This was our second stay at Spooner Riverplace and will definitely stay again. Although there was a large group of parents with youing children checking in at the same time as us, everyone was was checked in with a courteous and efficient manner.
The hotel was clean, up-to-date, and very nice. The pool hours were great! 24 hrs for adults and kids till 10. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. They have a very nice breakfast room with tons of options for breakfast! Biscuits and gravy, waffles, oatmeal and yogurt bar, bagels and pastry and coffee and juice to name a few. They also have a beautiful back yard area and decks overlooking the river, as well as a dock on the river and access to hiking and biking trails. Even though you are in the middle of town, you really feel secluded back there. They even supply a bike rack! There was fresh fruit, coffee, and chips and salsa available in the lobby as well. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. We were with a large group, but we felt welcome and well cared for. I highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed here while hunting over the weekend, all in all a great trip. My friend had previously made reservations and when we arrived we were checked in quickly and by a very friendly young lady at the front the desk. Rooms were clean, spacious, clean bathrooms, nice tv and a mini fridge and microwave. The bedding was comfortable along with the mattress. The pool area was also nice and the hot tub was at a perfect temp. They were very welcoming to hunters, they had breakfast starting at 4am and also had warm stew available in the evenings. Other pluses was a quality wifi and a great location to gas stations, cafes, bars and stores. The only negative was the rooms were not very soundproof, we could hear doors closing, people walking above us, and in the hallways. I will stay here again as I still believe it is a great place to stay with very welcoming staff
We checked in late in the evening and the room they gave us was right above the front desk. Upon entering the room awe noted a heavy smoke smell even though it was a nonsmoking room..the air intake for the AC was right above the front entry where all the smokers went to feed their addiction. We requested a different room and they tod us there were no other rooms available. Seeing that it was a Sunday night and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot we questioned this. It turns out they weren't even close to full. It was late and they just didn't want to have to clean another room. Breakfast the next morning was inedible l.. We mentioned our problems to the morning staff and they gave us 10% off the room rate for our inconvenience. We won't be back
This was the first (but not the last!) stay at this Best Western. I've stayed at others and this one rates very good compared to the others. Northwoods friendly staff was great! If you have problems here, its probably your own fault! :-)
we were on our way and decided to stay at this place for one night. And guess what !!. It really worth it. The place is very quite and comfortable with for family with a toddler. Breakfast comfy and worth for the price. The View from sundeck is amazing and the fall colors are started to show up.
This hotel was recently renovated and is very nice. You walk in and you can tell that they took great care in making sure the lobby area was inviting. Our room was very nice, as well. New carpet and you can tell that they completely replaced the shower surround. Pleasantly surprised. Price for the one night was very reasonable.
Booked three rooms for a weekend with girlfriends. The rooms were beautiful and clean and in excellent condition. It felt comfortable. The decor was tasteful and it had a fall theme display. Able to use the breakfast room to play some games in the evening. The staff was super friendly.
Very friendly and scenic place to stay in Washburn County, Wisconsin. Location is very close to the wild river trail system. Also located in close proximity to other places to eat and hike. The Yellow River is right next to the hotel and can easily be seen from the deck and the room if you get a river view room which I suggest.
Nice Local Motel. Wonderful helpful staff - go out of their way to be helpful. Clean rooms. Nice pool/hot tub. Nicely decorated. Standard motel free breakfast. Convenient to downtown. Great place to stay. Check it out.
I stay at a lot of hotels, typically over 100 per year. I have stayed at this property before and it is just plain fun. Everyone I saw that worked there was smiling all the time. They seemed to really enjoy their jobs and that is very infectious. They bent over backwards to be helpful, constantly asking me if I needed anything or if there was anything they could help out with. It's very refreshing to stay at a hotel that you actually don't want to leave. Beautiful river views and as is expected with Best Western, very comfortable rooms and beds. Highly recommend!
For one night, this place is just fine. It's an older hotel that has been nicely updated. The staff is most friendly and helpful, and it's clean and comfortable. I requested a river view room and received it, but was surprised that there is no elevator. The pool looked clean and nice, although I didn't use it. Breakfast was typical, but good options.
We were greeted with a smile and everyone one we met working at this hotel had the same smile and greeting, from front desk to house keeping. We were offered fresh fruit and chips and salsa and coffee as soon as we checked in. The room was very nicely appointed and clean, and we had wonderful view of the river. There was a patio off the breakfast room. It was raining so wasn't able to enjoy that amenity. The breakfast was good, with the Belgium waffle machine that actually made a nice waffle, so many places offer the same, but don't work properly. Check out was noon and check in for the train ride was 5. It was raining and the museums were closed so after driving about we went back to the hotel to ask if we could stay in the lobby to pass time. We were welcomed in and offered coffee, chips and salsa, they turned on the lights in the breakfast room and the TV and told to stay as long as we needed. It was a welcoming experience.
Staff was excellent, very helpful with local attractions, eating, establishments, etc. Good breakfast included. Will stay again when in the area. Stayed in a town 20 miles away last time, same type of quality, other hotel was $50 more expensive.
I was not impressed with this motel . I almost always stay at Best Westerns for business travel but will not stay here again . Price was too high for quality of motel . Breakfast was poor . Customer service was good .
Really nice place, clean, good location and people who work there are really friendly and good workers, you have gas station, restaurants not far from the hotel, the price is good, in general is a really good option.
Stayed in the family suite. The recliner was broken and staff traded with one from another room for us. No problem! The suite was fantastic. Full sized fridge and all, for a decent weekday rate. Nice and quiet with a river view. Loved the pool! Decent breakfast too. Nice area to visit.
Wonderful hidden gem! This small hotel offers unmatched hospitality paired with professionalism. Perks we enjoyed: special room considerations, crisp sheets and clean bedding with no bedspreads(thank goodness) but there were the preferred small/decorative bedscarves instead, gluten free options at breakfast, clean rooms with working amenities. We felt the updates to the hotel and available services were more than what one would expect for a hotel in a very small Northern Wisconsin town. The staff were all incredibly kind while maintaining a professional air. Thank you for a great stay!
Have stayed here many times over last couple of years on the way to fishing in Canada. is my hotel of choice. Very pleased with this hotel. Will continue to look forward to staying here in future travels though this area of Wisconsin.
Such a warm welcoming place, the smells are awesome, and well as the friendly cozy atmosphere. Clean, and the staff is wonderful!! Best place next to home!!! The pool is warm and clean. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. Also, it is pet friendly, and the staff even make my pets feel at home!! Lots of nice areas for the pets as well. Great view along the Yellow River!!
We stayed for 2 nights at this BW hotel. Was first impressed by its updated style and was very clean! The breakfast area was also very nice. They always have coffee, tea and ice water available. In the evening they put out complimentary chips and salsa! Beds were comfy and linens were nice. Their bath towels were actually on the softer side instead of feeling like a scouring pad. Pool and area was well maintained and the water temp was spot on. Hotel staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
We had a lovely stay at Best Western Spooner, Wi. Staff were so friendly and very helpful. The amenities, breakfast, snacks, etc were of good quality. When we had an issue with the key card, staff went out of their way to resolve the problem. Would stay here again
Pool was excellent...until a swimming class came in at 10 am. Breakfast was OK, lacked fruit options. Location was great since we did the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad's Pizza train earlier in the day.
If it wasn't for the air conditioner it would have been a 5 star review. Upon checking into our room the air conditioner did not seem to be cooling. After a short while it began to cool. After several hours the air conditioner stopped. The desk lady advised us to unplug the unit to reset. During the night it quit again. This was annoying. A price adjustment was made at check out. This was a fair adjustment. It would have been better to have been given a different room at check-in. The breakfast was very good with fresh made scrambled eggs. We will stay again.
Decent hotel in the tiny town of Spooner. Rooms are comfortable, staff are friendly, and showers are good. Location is also central. It is a little too expensive for what is a basic hotel, and the breakfast offered is meagre. However, it is decent and I would stay again if I were in town.
Delicious breakfast; wonderful staff We always stay here when we are in the area. It has a convenient location and overlooks the Yellow River. When we arrive, we are usually greeted by name since we stay here quite often.
My wife and I stayed here for three nights with our miniature long haired dachshund, Daisy. We loved it here. When you find a hotel as nice as this you would not even bother to to try some place different next time. Best Western Riverplace, Spooner, Wisconsin is our go to hotel from now on! Thanks to the wonderful staff who works there. You are all due for a pay raise.
Upon checking in our room, we were greeted with a dog coming out of the room next to ours. I don't care to pay over $100/night to hear and smell dogs. We pay big bucks to kennel our dog when going on vacation.
Super friendly and helpful staff at check in and check out. Wonderful breakfast options and very clean rooms. They even had chips and salsa at check in and quicker "to go" option for breakfast. I was there for business trip. The outside doesn't seem like much but you will be happy as you step inside. I would stay here again for business or family trip. They have a board of recommendations/review in the area for places to visit and eat from other past guests in the entry way along with many local menu options. I always love to hear what others think of a place and it is a great way to find a hidden gem.
I travel by car and bring our 2 20lb cocker spaniels . I have stayed at this best western about 5 times in past 10 years and will return again . Easy access to route 53. Friendly staff. 24 hour pool What impressed ME most this trip was how clean and tidy the breakfast room was kept. This hotel is very clean and quiet. Several choices for places to eat or enjoy a beer just by walking across street. Even a dollar general for inexpensive travel needs such as suntan lotion, toys, toiletries....you name it. If $$ General doesn't have it you don't need it! Senior discount if you are AARP member. Good value hotel.
Spooner/Hayward/Minong offers few choices so we stayed at this reliable, basic hotel. Staff was very nice and had a file with restaurant suggestions, which worked nicely with the TripAdvisor app. We appreciated the clean room with comfortable A/C. Breakfast was included, although nothing extraordinary. The pricing was somewhat high for this basic hotel, but more disappointing was the very high occupancy tax.
Needed a place to stay when we realized our detours to Ashland were way too long to make our original destination. When we saw the Best Western sign, we both smiled and said...let's stop in and see if they have a room. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. The room was great and very clean!! Would definitely recommend this hotel. Pool, hot tub, breakfast and fresh fruit offered.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is a little bit off the highways so there was little noise from the outside. There is a nice deck overlooking the river and the views on that side of the building are great. We look forward to staying here again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western hotel in Spooner WI. Picturesque setting along a gently flowing river. Loved the ambiance (Northwoods) rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Loved the breakfast they offered. Had menu on front counter and offered a substantial selection of food. Offered outdoor seating along the river which made for nature watching opportunities. Staff was very friendly and made wonderful suggestions for local restaurants. Tried two of them and enjoyed both. The food at these restaurants was beyond our expectations.
We stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed out time at the Best Western Spooner Riverplace Hotel. The front desk staff and housekeeping staff are very nice and professional and take pride in their jobs--they seem to manage the hotel as if it was their own. The rooms and hotel property are well maintained and are very clean. Breakfast and coffee/tea station are well stocked and food tastes nice. We hope to come back real soon.
We had a wedding on the July 4th holiday. This is the place that was suggested to stay. Wise choice. Very accommodating and we had requested first floor and it was granted, senior, aarp rate and much lower than that of the rate that was quoted on wedding invite. Glad to recommend this Best Western for a place to stay when visiting in far northwestern WI.
The Hotel staff was excellent and no outside noise to speak of which led to a good nights sleep on the way home from a Canadian fishing trip.We have stayed there for the last 15 - 20 years on the way home from our annual fishing trip and have only good things to say about our stays.
The staff was great. Receptionist was in training did a great job. Clean room, pool was nice, complimentary breakfast not so good. Had to wait for biscuit for bid it and gravy till the food truck arrived. All the condiments were low if not empty.
In town for weekend wedding found this Best Western was pet friendly and wife and her dog could stay. Found staff very friendly and helpful , place is very clean and well kept also has nice self serve breakfast (eggs.biscuits, gravy and waffles )I will definitely stay here again.
Very nice hotel located right on highway near center of the town. Spacious, clean rooms, good beds, plenty of outlets, nice desk, good A/C. Helpful staff. Breakfast was pretty good with scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal, yogurt, and oatmeal. Nice touch with toppings for oatmeal and yogurt. Only issue is that all of the local restaurants are closed by 9:00 PM. Guess I could have eaten at a bar, but didn't try any.
Me and my husband came to spooner for our anniversary. Even though the dinner- train ride let us down, this hotel didn't! After coming back from our horrible experience at the dinner/train ride, we were able to relax in our wonderful clean room. The pool and hot tub was also very nice except there was a large family there with a ton of kids. However, kids will be kids! Breakfast in the morning was great. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Great value, Clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Good staff. Internet speed was good. Good TV. I have nothing bad to say. Would stay there again in a heart beat. My review stopped right here but it would not take because it was not long enough. My only negative experience. I hate these. I am only doing it because I so liked my experience at this place.
Awesome staff, great breakfast, great location. We had an excellent stay here. Staff was very helpful on check in as well as helping find a few places to visit in the area. They were extremely courteous and pleasant. How awesome is it to get a greeting every morning!!!!
Very clean nice hotel. Stay every time we are in area. Come for family doing. Very friendly. and also dog friendy I would remind it to anyone going to spooner. Only one thing if you want a time in pool check to see if there is no family renion that taked up the whole pool area. Happen to us was not able to even get in more or less want to swim or use hot tub. They though it was there own pool. Check first..
My parents (84 and 81 years) and I had reservations for the night of 5/18/16. I made the reservations, but I failed to request a first floor room for them. Both rooms were one floor up, and no elevator. We showed up about 9:30pm, and the front desk staff was extremely helpful. Upon our realization that the hotel has no elevator, the staff helped take up my parents bags to their room. Great service! Saved me two extra trips up there :). The rooms were very good and the view out the window the next morning was serene with the cherry trees in bloom. A very enjoyable stay. One suggestion: don't charge $2 for a Kuerig cup in the buffet.
Love this place. The staff is friendly and takes a lot of pride in the experience of their guests and the cleanliness of the property. Wish every hotel we stayed at was like this one. No matter business or pleasure the stay is always great!
This was one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed at.The front desk lady Cynthia was extremely welcoming and professional. We enjoyed our room we had a amazing view of the river, that was very romantic and nice.Very nice size tv,fridge and microwave. The pool was very nice it was heated and it was open 24Hours. The breakfast had a good variety of things to pick from.It was very clean dining hall to sit and eat your breakfast and they even had trays in case you wanted to take your breakfast up to your room. The juice was the best that i have ever had at a hotel. All the staff that we encountered were very nice and made us feel at home (that alone would make us stay here again) The only thing that i could say bad about this place was that the bed wasn't the most comfortable.I did like that they give you many pillows. It is decorated very nice if you don't want to sit in your room you could sit down stairs or on one of the many couches or chairs and enjoy your cup of coffee. I also like that you were able to check in at 3 and check out at 12. We are already planning our next stay.
I've stayed here almost 3 weeks now and very satisfied. VERY clean rooms and Quiet. The breakfast is always hot and yummy with quite an assortment to choose from. I will be staying here in the future.
Very good stay in this hotel. Heated pool was a definite bonus with a two-year old ho wasn't frozen in 10 minutes. The board with local recommendations was a nice touch. Breakfast as good, but could have been fresher.
I entered my room and found the maid rummaging through my belongings, after confronting the manager about this It was clear nothing was to be done. My jewelry was missing along with some personal items, hard to want to continue to stay with feelings of violations of privacy. I would avoid this place at all costs. It has been two weeks and still no word of my missing items! I was pleased with the clean rooms and amenities offered.
Always helpful staff. Nice clean rooms. Pool , hot tub and sauna. Pet friendly Very nice deck which is pleasant in warmer months to enjoy your morning coffee. I enjoy watching the wildlife on the river-- saw 3 river otters and ducks on my last stay.
Give this place a chance! I have been impressed numerous times by the care and service given by the staff, from the manager right down to the maids. I get great local referrals for restaurants and activities. They have a 24 hour pool and sauna! I go out of my way to stay here when I can. Breakfast is awesome with many options.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Had a wonderful stay.Staff made sure we were comfortable and happy. Nice that there are still places out there that go to the trouble of making sure the guest is happy.
This was our first visit to Rice Lake and we randomly chose this hotel. From the moment we walked in the staff were attentive, and could not have been kinder and more helpful throughout our stay. We were very happy with our room as well. the hotel was very clean, and while we didn't take advantage of the breakfast, we did appreciate 24/7 tea and fruit. We will definitely return if we return to the area.
We stayed here for a 10th birthday party for my daughter! Staff was excellent as was the breakfast, pool and the whole experience! Would totally stay here again! Very clean and accommodating to guests!
We gather yearly at the Spooner Best Western to celebrate my father's birthday. The staff has always gone above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. They always remember my Dad, which makes his day. The facility is always clean and well kept and the staff is excellent.
My wife and I had a great time. The place was super clean, breakfast was very good. They had coffee and tea all day available and chips and salsa from 3pm to 10. It was very easy to find, right on highway 70. The staff was very knowledgeable about the are and gave us great tips on what to see and where to go.
Very helpful and friendly staff people from the front desk to the people cleaning the facility. Great pool, whirlpool and sauna. We came to a funeral which was hard to begin with but staying here was no added hassle, it made the trip better because of the staff and amenities. The breakfast was more than you usually find at a "breakfast-included" motel.
The staff at the Best Western are great and very accommodating I will always stay there when I am in Spooner WI. We were there for 3 nights during Christmas with lots of family and we had no problems. They even make pizza for you.
Stayed here for one night on a recent business trip. This location had everything that I need and expect from a low-cost hotel. Free internet, free breakfast, comfortable bed and excellent service The only negative on this stay was the fact that the pool and whirlpool were closed because of ongoing major maintenance.
The staff was friendly. The pool is open 24 hours, we didn't think of bringing our suits with us. Overall the hotel was clean, there was plenty of parking. Our room had a king sized bed and thankfully we asked to be on the "lake side" of the building otherwise there is a highway right past the parking lot and I think we would have heard a lot of noise from that. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast consisted of danish, donuts, waffles, breads, yogurt, powdered scrambled eggs and some type of meat, one day was sausage links the next was biscuits and gravy. The room itself was clean although when we arrived, we checked the window and it was not locked at all. We normally do not do that, but, after reading their pamphlet we thought we would try it, thankfully we did and got it locked down so we felt very safe. Being an end room near one of the entryways with a hallway separating us ... we never heard anyone coming or going. In the dead of night though, the room was incredibly dark and there was nothing that gave medium lighting for a night light so I would suggest bringing something for that. I just used my iPad and plugged in a nightlight app which worked well. WiFi connection was awesome.
Charming hotel, great amenities, beautiful location! Staff were all friendly and helpful. There's a walking/ATV path right outside the front door that goes along some waterways - nice perk if you want to get a little outdoor exercise!
the Best Western Spooner was very conveniently located, clean, and we experienced excellent customer service. I would definitely stay there again and suggest it to other when staying in the Spooner, Shell Lake, Siren area.
We had a very enjoyable experience at the Best Western in Spooner. The room was very nice and the front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. Like the fruit basket at the front desk. We enjoyed the breakfast bar. Nice location in Spooner.
We usually stay at Best Western's & this was our 1st time at this one in Spooner. We stayed for 4 days to see the leaf colors. Unbelievable quality & excellent all around. Everyone was very polite & professional at all times. The motel was very clean. Our room was very clean & smelled fresh. Had a Frig & microwave in room. Had a very large flat screen TV that was actually up high so you could see it from the bed lying down. FINALLY outlets in all the lamps!!! No digging under the bed for dusty extension cords. They had Great breakfast selections & the hot food was excellent. The pool water was perfect! Not too warm and not cold. The hot tub & jets were excellent. The POOL & HOT TUB are OPEN 24 HOURS!!! This was a big plus for us. We were very impressed with the high quality of service from everyone the entire 4 days we were there. I have to say this is now the BEST MOTEL we have EVER STAYED IN, EVER!!!! We can't wait to go back again. Kudos to management for a GREAT JOB of running their business.
Where do I begin? Let's start with first impressions. Cynthia at the front desk the evening we checked in gave first class service. While handling the paperwork, she covered all the details of complimentary breakfast hours, early evening chips and salsa, 24 hour coffee in the lobby, the pool, etc. She provided "customer first" service every time our paths crossed. When I walked thru the lobby to get to my car, she shut off the vacuum she was using. Nice courtesy so I wasn't bothered by the noise or in case I needed to speak with her. Other staff seemed similarly customer-oriented, though my interactions with them weren't as extensive. We were in room 105, a one-bedroom suite, first room on the left down the hall from the lobby. Great location and fantastic room. Very spacious in both rooms, or should I say all three rooms as the full kitchen was well-equipped. I knew I was in a special place when I found TWO luggage stands in the bedroom. Small thing but I can't ever remember seeing that in a hotel. Another first was the pouch in which I found the TV remote in the bedroom. It was labeled "fresh remote". The bed was VERY comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was overly noisy. The hot and cold breakfast was consistent both mornings with scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, danish, toast, juice and coffee. The deck off the breakfast room was a nice place to enjoy fresh air and fall colors with a view of the small river. The one downside as mentioned by others is the lack of an elevator. While it didn't affect us personally, my wife's 74+ yo aunt and friend struggled with their bags on the stairs. All in all, our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable.
Personnel is very nice, clean and fresh feel. It feels as if hotel is brand new. You can use the pool 24/7, breakfast is really good. If I have to go back to the area, I will definitely try to stay at this hotel again (usually full... because everybody loves it)
Nice hotel that appears to have been refreshed not long ago. Lobby area and breakfast room were nice and the pool area looked great. There is a deck/patio out back looking over a small pond. My room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The whole property was very clean and well maintained. The front desk staff was very helpful with dining advice and directions. I would be happy to stay here again in the future.
One of the nicest places I've ever stayed in. Literally the best mattress and pillows that I've ever slept on too. The whole place just has a real comfortable and pleasant atmosphere and the front desk went out of their way to accommodate my last minute reservation. Super clean as well. Top notch.
With fall colors on the agenda, my spouse and I took a spontaneous road trip into Wisconsin last weekend. We headed north from the St. Croix Valley to Hayward, WI, and decided to get a hotel for the night. I hastily booked the Best Western in Hayward...a little too quickly! Instead of that Saturday, I accidentally booked it for SUNDAY. Upon check-in, the front desk lady told us about our error, and informed us they were completely full (3 weddings in town). She then took the time to call at least 3 other hotels in Hayward on our behalf; also completely booked. She asked if we would be willing to drive to Spooner if the Best Western there had a room (about 23 miles). Long story short, the Spooner Best Western had 1 King Leisure left, so we drove then checked in (almost 10:00 P.M.). The front desk worker was wonderful at the Best Western American Heritage Inn in Spooner! She offered us bottled water and cookies right away to take to our room (we have a Best Western Rewards card). The King Leisure was spacious, clean, and the bed...oh so comfy. Breakfast was a little disappointing as far as choices, but the coffee and waffle I had were just right. We'd stay again in a heartbeat. Both locations went out of their way to make sure we got a room, and that's top-notch customer service we'll remember. And a good night's sleep to boot!
We had a whirlpool suite and the whirlpool was huge! Room was very nice. A few extras in the room like, toothbrush, toothpaste, razors etc. was a nice touch. Had called and made a reservation but when we checked in asked if there were any other discounts and got $5 more off the room. Very friendly staff.
Great hotel to stay at. Very clean and a very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful area to visit for a long weekend with lots of shopping and site seeing chooses. Will recommend this hotel to both friends and family.
Both the hotel and the staff were very nice. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice place in the northwoods of Wisconsin. The rooms were spotless and the lobby was too. The staff went above and beyond to help our group enjoy the stay.
This past weekend, our Corvette Club stayed at the Spooner Wisconsin Best Western American Heritage Inn. We found the hotel to be in extremely clean condition, and the staff to be exceptional. We want to single out an front desk employee named Cindy. Cindy was very friendly and took care of all our needs. Best western should be proud of having such a great employee as Cindy Steve Wulgaert Fox Cities Corvette Club Appleton, Wisconsin
Very nice hotel with wonderful, welcoming staff. A recent internal make-over seems to add to the comfort. The beds are really nice for Best Western, The room was a little on the small side with 2 queen beds and the desk but it was workable. The only downfall was the cable service provider and not very good local channel reception.
The staff was great, helpful, kind, accommodating. The Hotel was clean. The location is great! just a mile off 53 and VERY easy to get to. I will make this our yearly mid point stop stay. Thank you to the staff!!!!
