We booked here so we could attend the Caravan & Motor home show at the NEC, on arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady. Our room was on the first floor this was clean but the room was very dated and well worn, bathroom was room for just one person at a time again in poor decor, with the fan that sounded like an aircraft landing. Breakfast was a huge disappointment only one person there to seat you. The fresh fruit salad was only grapefruit and prunes, there was a plate with watermelon this was cut so thin it was almost transparent and despite asking for a yogurt it never appeared, with cooked there was no choice of egg just scrambled egg. Sorry to say we will not be returning this was advertised as part of the Sure collection but to us it was just a basic hotel.

had to change rooms dur to the bathroom being dirty ,they didnt think there was anything wrong ..other room was ok not very concerened ..pool was ok warm but the whirlpool was out of order and there was a hose pipe leading of it that was not signed off..there was no one at reception eveerytime i went to see someone ....told them that the service was terrible ..werent botheredas they told me i was the only one to complain !!!! when paying to go home no discount but said that i could come back aagain for free room ..i told them that i wouldnot becoming back again

"Open Fire doors, burned lampshades & toilets that don't flush"

Just to be clear, the restaurant at this hotel is truly wonderful. There is an amazing manager who couldn't do more to help, and the chef... the food is superb. BUT... and there is one heck of a but. The first floor landing fire door was not closing. Reporting it the first night, nothing done. When threatened with the fire service it was (sort of) fixed. The lampshade in our bedroom was covered in burn marks. I suspect that they occured previously, but it was still pretty unacceptable. The toilet in the bathroom didn't flush properly. Reported not fixed. The bath didn't drain. Reported not fixed. The bedroom carpet has a large stain in the middle of it. We were offered an alternative bedroom, but its proximity for the lift for my mobility impaired wife was such that we didn't want to move. Frankly, we shouldn't have to move. These issues should be dealt with before guests occupy the space. The staff were generally nice. But the requirement of doing something when it needs doing seems to belong elsewhere. With the exception of the wonderful restaurant staff who deserve five stars themselves, I would find it really hard to recommend this as a hotel of quality. Sort out your training, sort out your plumbing, sort out your fire safety, and let me know when it is done.

We stay here most years- the rooms are ok- a few things that niggle like hairdryers on wires and no close by mirrors etc.... BUT we come back. It's restaurant is fan blooming tastic!!! The service was spot on, not overpriced and Er- check out this pudding!!!!!!! You could eat everything on the plate and it was delicious!!!!

Having grown up locally but moved away we regularly frequent local hotels when visiting relatives. Had a good stay room was clean and comfortable, kids enjoyed a swim in the pool and a try of the hot tub and sauna, nice that the age limit was 12 not the normal 16, there are bits that could do with a refurb, changing rooms were pretty grotty and the bubbles didn't work in the hot tub, Morrisseys the in house bar was pretty poor in terms of decor my first visit in about 20 years there were only about 12 customers on a Saturday, back in the day I queued for half an hr just to get in! All in all good value for money and would go back.

I have recently stayed here for one night which was enough. The droning noise all night from what ever was above my suite was terrible and the place is extremely dated especially the bedrooms with worn old furniture dirty walls with splatters all over them, I suggest new cleaners or inspecting them might be a good idea. The staff as nice and friendly as they are seemed to be struggling a bit. The lady near me in the dining room had a complaint about hairs in her food and watching the poor girl try to react was so awkward she had no idea what to do. Which brings me to the food. It was delicious the starter was a little cold but the main was spot on. The desert was best of all I could have eaten 10 of them and pleased to say no hairs in my food. The food did not match the property at all. I never like to give poor reviews and i dont see the point in complaining as what's the point nothing ever happens apart from someone saying sorry. Will I stay again probably not I usually stay at the Village Hotel. Real shame as I want more of that Chocolate Delice.

I stayed here with my family (husband, 4 year old daughter and 1 year old son) for a weekend away. It was very easy to locate on a main road and there's plenty of free parking. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist and check in was quick. Our room was huge, with the usual amenities (kettle, shampoos etc.), plenty of space for my 1 year old to run around. It was also very clean even when we moved beds around it was spotless. We had a double bed, single bed and camp bed in. Our TV wasn't working but after a phone call to reception, within 2 minutes someone came to the room to help (there's a switch at the opposite end of the room next to a bed headboard). Room service or breakfast was available (for £12 per adult, kids eat free) but we didn't use these. The swimming facilities were great. It looks well used but it was clean. There's a shallow part at the side of the main pool which my children loved and it was lovely and warm. There's also a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and plunge pool. There may also be a gym as it was also used alot by day guests but I could be wrong. Towels are also provided at the pool which was convenient. All staff were lovely, the room was a little dated but very spacious and perfect for us. I could see the main road from our window but I couldn't hear any traffic. I can imagine it would cost alot to refurbish all of the rooms. We'd definitely stay here again.

"Good Xmas Stay - Really Could Not Knock It"

Stayed here on Christmas day and we (Wifey + Kids) cannot fault it for anything. From reception to the actual room, all was perfect. The family room which has a double bed and two single beds was booked and I have to say there is more than ample space to move around and not get in each other's way. For the price, staff and location, I'll stay here if I have to visit Solihull again. Hospitality and politeness shown by staff is exemplary and the reception desk is manned 24 hours. Our room had an en suite shower / bath with toilet, lots of towels, Iron and ironing board, flat screen TV with Freeview channels, tea and coffee making items plus electric kettle. Wireless internet access worked perfectly. Breakfast was brilliant with the ability to go as many times as you want. The breakfast menu had a mixture of full English (serve yourself), various cereals, yogurt, fruits, fruit juices and cheeses. Not forgetting toast. On the whole, this is a very good hotel. Comments on the need for refurbishment though true, don't reflect that it is clean, modern and not a new building. I think it is unfairly being compared to hotels built in the last five to ten years.
