I had a fantastci stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly, and could not be more helpfull. The food was lovely and a good selection on the menu. If I was forced to pick a negative point, it would ve a stretch, but the main gate was very slow to open, but that is not going to put me off coming again.
The hotel is nice and clean. Staff is great and restaurant provides good indian food Breakfast could be improved The property is gated and has 24 hour security, and no problem in parking, although it gets busy when they events

The staff are very welcoming and friendly at all times, The rooms are very clean with comfortable beds and good showers. Good size TV in the rooms , internet available in the room and lounge area.The food was to a good standard of quality at a good price.The bar prices is also good .

Below average hotel. Spend at least two nights away each week in hotels and b&bs and will not be using this one again. It's poorly decorated and not maintained for such a beautiful building, don't let the photo's fool you, go elsewhere. Evening menu is limited unless you want a curry, and breakfast is basic.. If you want a reasonable room for the night there are better options.

It is a really nice and convenient place to stay due to being really close to London, roughly 20 minutes by train, but of course not as expensive as London. The people who work there, they are all kind and nice, checking in, out, and during the stay, it was lovely to talk to some of them. The rooms are just what you expect and what you want from a hotel. Good sleep, relax, and keep it on going the next day! Really happy overall, I totally recommend this place.

A serious lack of attention to detail. Stained & soiled carpets in corridors, breakfast area & stairs. Breakfast supplies are often not replenished unless requested & it was certainly not the described 'mega buffet of international flavours' - aside from 3 cereals, cold hard boiled eggs & toast there's one type of salami, processed cheese squares and a small selection of fruit. Table cloths are covered with yellowing plastic covers, some napkins are stained and the evening meal menu is full of spelling errors - Fish Fingers were spelt 'Fish Ginger', Chicken Stroganoff as 'Chicked Shregroff' & Chilli Con Carne as 'Chillli Corn'. There is peeling paper everywhere, hard-floor trims are broken/missing and long standing rubbish such as large rolls of old carpets, old furniture, even pram/pushchairs can be seen from some rooms. A very bad reflection on Best Western and an experience that will see me - for the first time ever - writing to BW. The response will determine whether we will ever gamble on staying at a BW hotel again.
We came to Baylis Expecting to be in Main Posh Building , We were in Side Building with a View of a Building site from Window, Water in Cold Tape was warm .So had to but water from Local Shop for drinking.Shower was with litter water and No Towels on camming. Key Cards Stoped working and Internet. Breakfast was poor and no Hot drink as water cold.Table clothes dirty and Told that they are done every 2 days ,I told them off and next day plastic Cloth over top. 2 nd day made a tea with the UHT Milk 2 Months out of date and bad Tummy for 3 days after drinking tea . Car Parked by Dumpster that was over full.Staff ok but did not see to problems and excesses said. Rubish outside venue Matresses ,Rat on wall outside ..really big one.. They should close ...Inspector Needed I think . Donot go to this place..its 2. starTry Pinewood instead.
The hotel reception area appeared clean and well maintained. I cannot say the same for any other part of the premises that I saw during my stay. The expectations raised by the website's photographs and blurbs were wholly confounded by my real-world Baylis House experience. I really should have read the reviews before booking. When the number of one-star reviews equal the five-stars something is very wrong. Avoid!
This hotel was like having a bad tinder experience. You swipe right on an attractive, nice looking photo. Unfortunately, when you turn up the place looks nothing like the photos, there is an hazardous chemical smell wafting about the place and you start to fear for your dignity and your life. The hotel had all the charm of an Aleppo suburb; filthy carpets, flickering (or not working) lights, extractor fans that sound like light aircrafts taking off. Lying on the beds was so uncomfortable it felt like having open surgery without anaesthetic, and the basic amenities were about as functional as one would expect from a UN no-go zone. Impressively the hotel has cultivated a holistically miserable experience from start to finish. Getting into the compound involved sneaking in after a car left as nobody would answer the intercom and on leaving the staff were dismissive and unfriendly. I can't write concerning the breakfast as we didn't dare risk it.
Never ever am I gonna ever let anyone that I kno book here!!!! Had a wedding and the food that I tested wasn't even given replaced with something I didn't want, was told on the day it ran out on earlier event The staff were rude and smelled of alcohol was told 11 people would be serving dinner to guest where in fact it were only 6 Don't ever book this place for weddings unless you want it to turn out a diester No apologies given and no compansation currently pursing a court case!
If i could give this hotel 0 stars i would. The hotel room was of very poor standard. It was very small, i could stand in the middle of the room and touch both walls. The blind in the bedroom did not stop any light from coming in. I had a very poor night sleep and so did my partner. There was clearly a rail above the window that had been taken down, the brackets were still on the wall. The bathroom was very very poor. There was black mould in the cornerns of the shower tray. The grout of the wall tiles had mould on them. The toilet seat didnt fit the toilet. There were blobs of adhesive stuck all over the walls. The mirror was covered in dust on top. The bathroom needs a damn good clean. For the price that i paid i could have gone elsewhere and gotten better. I could have even got better at a budget hotel. I feel totally ripped off!!! I have emailed the hotel twice to complain but they havent even had the decency to reply.
I was extremely disappointed with my stay in this hotel. You don't stay in the beautiful house that is advertised but in a separate until. The decor of the bedroom was not nice at all and my bathroom smelt as though it hadn't been used for a long time. The service in the restaurant was terrible but the quality of food was good. They only really offer curry or fish and chips so if you don't like those then don't eat in the restaurant. No air con. They only serve breakfast until 9am - not the usual 10am so be careful not to miss out. The breakfast is v basic - boiled eggs, cereal, toast, salami slices and ham. The staff, however, were very friendly.
Clean, tidy and great value for money. Friendly staff good internet connectivity. My room had air-con which was perfect when it was 26 degrees outside. Excellent parking facilities with security guards.
On approach it looks very nice. Then you get in and it feels very strange indeed. Staff obviously didn't want to be there, only friendly one seemed to be member of bar staff. Got food, took a fair while, which is fine usually if the food is hot. But it wasn't. It was cold, and to fix the problem it was obviously microwaved. Food is definitely not fresh. Rooms are run down, and didn't look like what I had booked... Overall please avoid and just choose a travelodge
I can't say that this was a terrible stay, but it definitely wasn't great either. The building is very impressive on arrival up the long drive - but that's not the hotel, it's round the side. The gates are excessive and unnecessarily slow. Checking in was also slow and a little unfriendly. The decor is basic and needs modernising. The room was basic but clean. On a positive note, the restaurant was very accommodating as we arrived late for dinner and both the food and service was excellent
Look elsewhere. Room just bearable for one night. Holes in walls stuffed with toilet paper! Why would they think that is acceptable? Adjoining door looked damaged with v expanding foam clearly visible around edges. Toilet flush broken and shower tap broken. Car parking good but litter strewn.
It felt like i had rented a very dated student bedsit. Looking past the nice exterior, the interior is terrible and very shoddy and dated. The thought of staying there again makes me feel sick. I didnt complain the the staff as its not my thing, but they did send me a survey and asked me to write a review.
I am very happy with the service that has been provided on the 29th June, especially by Deepa Iyer, who was with us from the start and helped us with every step in organising for our reception. She was kind, considerate, helpful and accommodated us with all our needs. We would like to praise Deepa and thank her for all her efforts. We wish her all the best for the future. Ok as most will know poor reviews are mostly written on here. Room pokey asked for an upgrade and was willing to pay. Bar staff failed to bring my starter out, then the wrong main dish served, then the starter. After the entire meal was finished the sauces to the starter were provided Looking around: All glasses behind the bar dirty (please use rinse aid) Doors and door handles filthy. Urinals sprayed water over you as they flushed. Carpets I'll fitted throughout the “hotel” Generally poorly and cheaply decorated. Bed was sprung loaded and sank. Duvan bed bases bare, no covering sheets. Wallpaper hanging off walls. Floor and walls generally grubby. Windows broken. Laughable really Bar staff struggle to understand basic requests and were rude. This is a wedding venue apparently. Wow! I won't be eating breakfast in the morning. McDonald's is on the menu. The curry was good though as long as it holds
We travelled down for a wedding and was hoping to have a great stay. The hotel was filthy and actually had dead flies all over the bathroom floor. There was no hot breakfast but then we did not want to eat in such a filthy hotel. The bar was never opened and drinking alcohol was not encouraged. The staff were not friendly at all
What a terrible experience! It took 40 mi utes to actually find someone to let us in. We were let in by a security guard who could hardly speak a word of English, he was extremely rude and insisted that I pay for the hotel, even though I should him the confirmation email that stated I had already paid. The up shot was a massive argument with me refusing to pay, we were finally escorted to our room some 30 minutes later, a total joke! The place was dirty, dated and uncomfortable! Unfortunately this is an experience I've had on more than one occasion with this chain and one that I will avoid from now on! It's the only place I've stayed at where the security guard was also the hotel receptionist, unfortunately he didn't excel in either roll.... My advise would be to avoid such a place and stay with one of the better chains down the road (holiday inn etc)
The hotel rooms are a bit basic, but was well priced. The restaurant food was priced well, too, and the food was nice. The bed was not great - being two singles pushed together to make a double, but it was quiet and sleeping was peaceful. Room was a little tired and could have down with a fresh paint.
Very good service with professional and friendly staff that were always available. Staying at the hotel we had the added bonus of an Indian restaurant on site that served excellent food that my family and I enjoyed.
Do not stay here, unless you like no sleep , tiny rooms, and a dirty bathroom and a very poor excuse for a breakfast. We arrived to find no parking as there were 2 proms and a wedding going on at the same time , music didn't finish till 12am then the rooms round us started their parties, wall between rooms must be paper thin as you could hear everything as well as the bride and groom consummate their marriage (thankfully it didn't last long) probably managed 5 hours of broken sleep if lucky . Room was too hot even with window open, room was very small and took till the Saturday night before they got us a tv remote, bathroom was mouldy and needed a good clean, as could the room and a air freshener wouldn't of gone a miss , the breakfast was laughable warm milk cereal and toast and cold boiled eggs, the next night was just as bad if we could of got a room else where we would of , wish we had just slept in the car as we would of got more sleep . On checkout there were a few people making complaints and told they would have to wait 3 hours till a manager came on shift,. We didn't stay for breakfast that morning we went to spoons for a full English. The only good thing we can say is the staff were polite although the receptionist im sure was asleep and the wifi was fast out of ten i would rate it a 1/10 for the wifi and staff
We stayed here for one night, that was enough. Our friends that were with us had Also booked this hotel but they didn't stay the night they packed up there things and moved to the local holiday inn for the night it was that bad. If you like staying in a small, dirty , noisy hotel this is for you, it like trying to sleep in a night club. Do not stay at this hotel.
Room is okay, but it did have ants, no hairdryer, and no menu for the restaurant even though they do room service. When first walking into the room, there was a funny smell. Also, the room does not have curtains, there is just a blind which you have to get to line up to block out the sunlight. Security gates make the entering and exciting process quite long. The restaurant only offers Indian and a few choices of English food. Which is a problem for anyone who has any allergies or does not like Indian food. Personally wouldn't choose to stay here again as there are a lot of improvements that need making to the general cleanliness and hotel.
Once again I am on work travel the hotel which I needed to be in was fully booked the first night so I booked this 4* hotel close by. My taxi driver commented on the hotel as he drove me up towards it staying wow this place looks fancy. I have to agree with him it did. We drove up to the gates and proceeded to wait over 7 minutes to get buzzed in. I arrived into reception and was greeted with one woman who works there speaking over the receptionist (to the receptionist) as she spoke to me. The main house itself was quite nice with a cosy bar, restaurant was nice and wandering around was also pleasant. I'll start with the positives : The man who brought me dinner and was working the next morning for breakfast was A1. The dinner was lovely! Breakfast however was tinned fruit at almost 9 pound sterling I expect a lot more. Garden area to read of hotel was also nice. Negatives: My room. Upon arrival I informed the receptionist that I would like room service and had a conference call meeting which I needed to use phone for. She replied call reception once you want your dinner. Issue was upon arrival into my room - There was no phone resulting in me missing the meeting which was via conference bridge (phone with a few different countries thus using webcam was not viable). It was like a hostel room compact, away from the main house with no hair dryer for use (gone to conference today with wet hair- classy look I've long hair), no curtains after flying I wanted to sleep but with just a blind the light was too much. This hotel should not have a 4* rating in my eyes room lacked a lot of basics.
Potential to be a great hotel - beautiful grounds, friendly staff, comfy beds and good facilities. However it felt like it was half way through renovation. My room had unfinished decorating, holes in the wall and handles missing. With work the rooms could be lovely. Security gates made entering and exiting a slow process. Restaurant only offers Indian so you're forced to eat this type of food only. Mains was lovely and decent value for money. Overall good value but wouldn't return until improvements made.
Tiny room without a desk to work from. Laptop screen was bigger than the screen in the room. There was a very nasty smell in room and hallways. Breakfast selection was really poor ... continental breakfast with only white or brown sliced bread !
Was supposed to attend a friends wedding reception party here but my friend had to cancel as the hotel could not keep their word; they told my friend AFTER she had booked the rooms and dinner that they wouldn't be providing any cutlery (wth), and that their wedding party will be joined with another person's wedding party, even though they were specifically told by friend not to arrange that. Although I still stayed in the hotel as I had already paid a non-refund price for it, others who cancelled weeks ago still have not been refunded any of their money. Upon entering the hotel first, in, staff are lovely and welcoming; fair enough. We go into our rooms- the floor is so dusty (check pictures of the tissue wiped from one swipe of floor), the bed isn't even a double, it's two beds clicked together causing an annoying gap in the middle that disrupted my sleep. We check the bathroom the taps are the worst; it's almost impossible to get a balance of hot and cold, it's either super hot or freezing cold, but before you even get to that issue the water stays boiling hot for up to half an hour regardless of how much you switch to cold mode. The floor next to the bath was invested with ants which only increased daily, didn't manage to get a picture before cleaning it up but took pictures of some weird grain stuff that appeared the next day located right where the ants were (underneath the radiator); looks a lot like residue of ants' nests. I assumed the ant nest must've been hidden behind the walls or something so I investigate the rest of the bathroom and realise there are cracks, mould and loose parts on the sink draws (seen in picture) I look inside the sink draw and see a whole load of cob webs (when was the last time it was cleaned?!). The air con was so weird to work with- I tried to switch it to a cooler temp cos the room was too warm , it did nothing until the next day . Upon leaving , my partner had his suitcase on the floor in the same position for only 3 days, and when he picked it up he checked underneath and it was filthy further confirming just how dirty the floor is. Had a commutation error between the receptionist and whilst I was being as respectful & clear as I could, she retaliated very rudely and so unprofessional. Crap way to end the stay. Overall, whilst the staff were kind and helpful (except for the woman at the end, don't know her name but I just know she's fair coloured and wore a peach coloured headscarf), I really think they're not doing their beautiful hotel any justice at all, which is a shame. It's even more weird that reviews like this are not the first yet they seem to have elected not to act upon it despite many complaints over a long time. It seems as though the small details are not looked into nor are customers listened to.
A great local find in Slough - Be it for lazy brunches on weekends or party with family and friends or putting up guests for the night. We have tried it all with this place and have never been disappointed. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
We have attended the friends wedding in the same place so booking the room in the hotel was very convenient. The room was small, but all facilities available, the bed quite comfortable, receptionist was friendly. Very nice location and the whole area, great thing that the area is secure and has plenty of parking place. Thank you.
A small room in a large grand looking house... A stop before my trip home via Windsor. Surrounding area is residential & a large gates seems almost prison like. Not ur usual hotel, maybe just not my style...
I made booking through booking.com didn't check properly in confirmation that without ID I couldn't check in - so I went in hotel without ID ,had to rearrange a new hotel around 1:30am in the morning -bad night
Would have awarded 0* if possible! Nothing good about our experience at The Baylis. Left waiting outside locked gates for 20 minutes as no one was present. Eventually answered by security guard, who was incredibly rude, and spent another 5 minutes attempting to open the gate. Once inside the lobby, we were forced to hand over both drivers licenses as 'police can raid the hotel at any time'. Not what you want or expect to hear when checking in! Room was serviceable, although 'double bed' was two singles pushed together. Shower head was broken and hanging from wall. My partner saw ants in the room on the floor near the bed, and the decor throughout the hotel didn't match Images on booking.com at all. When checking out, we were greeted by another rude staff member who confusedly tried to explain why we needed to pay again. Hoping we have not been charged twice, however wouldn't be surprised due to the inept staff. Would never stay here again, nor do we recommend.
Room too small. No bedside table- I upended the bin and just managed to squeeze it in between the bed and the wall.No security feature on the ground floor window so it had to be shut during the night making the room hot and stuffy. Damp smell in the bathroom. Dinner menu was extremely limited, over priced and poor quality. Breakfast was limited. Mainly sugary cereal boxes, poor attempt at continental. No fresh fruit. Wallpaper peeling off the restaurant walls.The grounds were unkempt, with areas used as rubbish dumps. Not recommended.
I'm afraid I did not like this hotel at all, I would not stay here again and I could not recommend it. Let's start with the positives. First impressions are quite good. The decor in the bedroom was inoffensive and the room was very clean. There was tea and coffee. That's it! The hotel is up a winding driveway in an area that seems less than salubrious. The grounds are gated and the hotel take access and egress to this very seriously though the reason for this was unclear. The hotel itself looks quite grand from the outside although once inside there is a mish mash of styles and none of them quite work. The reception staff were efficient enough but not particularly welcoming. Our room was incredibly small and the air conditioning was on full blast so it was like walking into an ice box. The room contained a double bed, a single hard backed chair and two bedside tables which housed the phone, Menu and tea making facilities so there was little room for anything else on them. There was one glass in the bathroom. There was little room to walk round and literally nowhere to put anything. Not a table or shelf, so everything had to go on the floor or in the wardrobe which was actually a built in cupboard. One side of the bed was against a wall which sloped so I worried about banging my head all the time. The bath would have been great for a midget but anyway the plug didn't stop the water from draining so even if I didn't mind sitting with my knees under my chin I wouldn't have stayed wet for long. The shower was an over bath variety which was alright but fixed too high and you could not move it. There was nothing to grip when you claimed in and out of the shower either so not great for anyone over a certain age. The lighting in the bathroom was really poor too, I think maybe they used energy saving bulbs, so very hard to put make up on and again there no real storage space there either. Breakfast was only from 7-9 which meant you had to get up early to take advantage of it and to be honest it was really uninspiring. It all looked like it had been done on the cheap. Cereal, Sliced processed cheese and salami, hard boiled eggs, cartons of yoghurt of an indistinguishable brand and horrible looking sliced white and brown bread and juice that obviously came out of a carton and probably made from concentrate. I really am sorry to be so negative but as far as I'm concerned staying in a hotel should be a relaxing and pleasurable experience and my visit to this hotel was neither. It seemed that the bare minimum of everything was provided with very little attention to detail or thought given to what actually works to make a guest's stay comfortable. The accommodation was very basic but the hotel masquerades as something much grander but quality was sadly lacking. We struggled to get the temperature right in the room, either it was too hot or cold and consequently I woke both mornings I was there with a headache and sort throat. I'm very surprised Best Western allow their brand to be associated with such low standards. A really disappointing stay!
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at this venue in March 2019. The Hall was beautifully decorated; the decor and music were just perfect for the occasion. Staff was friendly and very organized, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Overall, this was an excellent banqueting venue and would highly recommend it. Special thanks to Deepa for helping plan this event and making it a very memorable one.
My friend booked this hotel a few months ago, we were staying for a festival nearby. When the hotel was booked we specifically asked if we could check in early but arrive late as we had to drop our bags and get to the venue, we were told it would be no problem and our bags would be in our room and our room key would be waiting for us. Upon arrival back at nearly midnight I walked into reception and the first thing I saw were our bags. I walked over to them to put something in one and was not questioned as to if the bags were mine. Not impressed, then the person on reception said he couldn't find our reservation, he was quite rude and unhelpful. It eventually got sorted and we went our room which wasn't the cleanest. There were hairs on the duvet and sheets. We went down for our £7.99 continental breakfast which was average, not a great deal of choice. No full English on the menu as they don't seem to cater really for “English” guests. When we checked out we mentioned the luggage issue and were told oh no we don't take them to your room and we have nowhere to store it! The hotel is trying to be posh and it isn't quite working, it is quite shabby in places. The toilets for guests are very dirty and not one cubicle had toilet paper in them. My only positive things to say are the room was quite good value for money and the shower was brilliant. I wouldn't stay there again unless I had absolutely no other choice
Held a 60th Birthday Party in March 2019. Shezad helped arrange it seamlessly and was attentive to detail. The only issue we had was the quality of the dance floor and they closed the bar too early. The rooms were basic but for the price they were acceptable.
Average stay - Needs renovation and curtains at the window rather than very light blinds. The shower has seen better days and the room was quite snug. Having said that, I will stay again as it is very convenient location.
one of my worst experiences staying at any hotel, rude, unhelpful staff, my key card never worked, every evening when i returned to hotel, i had to go to reception to have it fixed, staff did not care,
This is a wedding/function venue with rooms bolted on. We only stayed as we were attending a function with young children and thought it would be convenient to stay at the venue. The room looked out onto a scrap yard/dumping ground, had an odd smell and contained a mish mash of old/second hand furniture. The shower took 20 minutes to warm up, the continental breakfast was the worst I've seen. I could go on. Stay elsewhere.
The Baylis House does not measure up to Best Western standards. There is no air conditioning. There are no bedside tables in the room.A loud party was taking place on the property until after 10 PM. The neighborhood is questionable. A number of items in the room were not in working order including the TV remote. They did not honor our reservation request to stay on the first floor. The breakfast was not available by 7 AM. In fact no one was there and the restaurant was dark. The person at the front desk offered to start breakfast but we needed to catch a flight, so we left without breakfast. Stay elsewhere.
Damp room, poor water, rude and unhelpful staff overall. I will not return and I do not recommend this at all. I am very disappointed. No hairdryer in the room and room is very small with no black out blind. Also view was terrible:
Awful room, not even big enough to open the bathroom door properly. Unhelpful staff, shocking value for money!! Plus they preheld an extra £50 for things we might buy. Spoke to the receptionist , no help at all, asked for the manager - he's gone home! Don't blame him! First picture is our room , second is off Booking.com!
I would like to say a massive thank you to the Baylis house team, notably to Shahzad, Sandy and the Head chef who all kindly assisted with the planning, organising and executing of our special wedding day. We booked the Baylis House function room, over 12 months ago and the whole process from start to finish has been handled with nothing but an high level of excellence and professionalism. The attention to detail was meticulous and with flawless precision. All are needs and requirements were taken care off with ease and nothing seemed to much trouble for the team. The venue setup deco looked splendor, grand and was just how we envisioned it, for both the morning ceremony and the evening reception party. Sandy and his team transformed the venue to a truly magical ball room gala style evening reception party and a miracle at that, considering the short quick turnaround. Sandy also ensured all guests needs were meant and taken care from the quick service provided by bar staff to the swift service of the waitering staff. Event Manager Shahzad was always very helpful in handling any concerns, queries and his communication was timely and prompt. The head chef and his team were fantastic on ensuring all guests dietary requirements were met and yes the food did taste absolutely phenomenal. We had a super day and it's thanks to all Baylis house staff that truly made it a wonderful memorable and magical wedding day, not only us but for all are important guests whom all commented on the beautiful wedding and evening reception Once again a special thank you to all Baylis House staff, you all made our wedding day truly sensationally amazing. This is an Asian run hotel hence they only serve Halal food, which I object to so I had to go into town each night, which is about a mile away. The room was a decent size and the bathroom had a powerful shower. The breakfast is cold options only. The hotel is set in large grounds with gates and security guard but there are other businesses within the complex which is a little confusing when you first arrive. There is plenty of parking but it may be worth checking if there is a wedding on during your stay as it gets very busy if so. I came back from town one night with the gate locked and the security guard praying so I had to wait for him to finish before he opened the gate. I wouldn't stop here again because of the halal food but the hotel rooms are ok.
Impressive entrance, but try not to be put off by turning right amongst other bussiness to find the hotel reception, which is very impressive. The rooms are small, It might pay to leave the laptop in your car as working space is limited. Small bath with a great shower, just ask if you need a hair dryer. I think the restaurant may still be bedding in as the service was slow, however, the food was very very good and very good value.
Stayed here 15/04 for a 2 night family break. Was really disappointed with the hotel as soon as we arrived, does not look like the pictures!! Looks rundown and has piles of rubbish and building goods all over the car park!! The building we stayed in was rundown with dirty carpets and furniture in the communal areas! (see pics) Thankfully the room and the beds were clean but when using the bathroom sink we realised it was blocked...wouldn't drain and dirt wtf had come up from it. Reported to staff who said they would try and get someone to fix it but called back and said they couldn't do it till the next morning. No other rooms to transfer to but said they would speak to the manager about compensation. On returning to the room the following evening the sink had not even been looked at, reported again but didn't come to the room to look at it till 9pm!! Not great when you have a child to get to sleep. Breakfast was appalling not much to choose from and what was available didn't look fresh...didn't even bother going down the 2nd day. AVOID AT ALL COSTS staff couldn't care less and the quality is not what you see in the online pics. Very disappointed!!!!
Having stayed at a Best Western before I was looking forward to this stay. On the approach down the long drive I was initially very happy. The reception area was well signposted and very clean. The receptionist directed me to the block where my room was and going up the 1st flight of marble stairs gave a very good impression. However, the second flight had loose carpeting along the top step. The room was serviceable, if a little cosy, I was unable to use the chair as it was so close to the bed. The bed was on casters so moved when being used. The pillows were flat and the mattress dipped towards the centre. I used the restaurant for an evening meal. The menu was mainly Indian food, which I do not eat, and after ordering the fish and chips was told there was no fish so I ordered chicken nuggets and chips instead. There was enough there for 2 people. The staff were very friendly, helpful and apologetic. The restaurant had a heavy smell of paint, so I must assume that the hotel is undergoing renovations. Had I been staying a second night I would have eaten out
The room was small and if I had any mobility problems, getting to the far side of the bed past the TV would have been impossible, but it was comfortable enough and beautifully clean. On our first night we were from our journey so we decided to eat in the restaurant. The menu looked nice but nothing was described/said what it was so there was a lot of googling! The first course took nearly an hour to arrive and the second course took 40 more minutes after that! The gentleman serving seemed to be on his own, he apologised for the delay and said the other staff had been working the wedding all day. The food was nice but not the best Indian meal I've had, especially not for the long wait! Breakfast was described as continental, only two choices of cereal, butter all gone, no pastries, cheap pre packed muffins. Slightly better and more varied on the second day but wouldn't have been worth paying extra for if it wasn't included. Over all a pleasant stay, but just a few tweaks could really increase its standards. A brilliant location for all the things we wanted to do in London, and a gorgeous heritage building.

I spent 2 nights at this place in Slough, booked last minute and thought I was in for a right treat when I saw it online. Unfortunately I was wrong. The photo on the the website was the 1st thing I saw when I eventually found it, however that's not where I was staying I was round the back in a different building, not a problem I thought to myself. Checked in and promptly found myself back at reception when my key card didn't work and found it was printed upside down so needed to obviously be used the other way round. I settled down for the night after choosing to eat out that evening and tried to go to sleep but that's when I realised I had been put in the children's section of the hotel and ad kids running up and down screaming outside my room until about 22:30 which really was not ok. This continued the next night but was joined by the shouting of adults too which pushed me over the edge and I complained to reception who seemed to be pretty surprised by this information despite being about 6 foot from the door to my room themselves. Breakfast might have well not been included and I didn't even bother with it the 2nd day because I couldn't get out of there soon enough! I'm I ever find myself in the area again I will sleep in the car.
Apologies for a late review! We celebrated my daughter's 21st Birthday Party in December 2018, and we were really impressed with the venue and the food was delicious.Deepa and Shahzad were very attentive organisers and ensured all our requirements were met. We had approx.100 guests and many of them complemented the venue set up and the starters, mains and desserts. Also complements to the chefs for ensuring the food was available at the correct times. Definitely recommend Baylis House for celebration events.
My Daughter and ! were traveling home and due to a scheduling conflict was going to be stuck for 10 hours in the airport. Got online booked the room. When we arrived the room we booked was not available so they upgraded us to a suite. Charged the smaller room rate for the suite. Sweet!
I would just like to thank the staff and Management at Baylis House for the service provided from the time I booked to the final big day for my daughter's wedding. In particular Shahzad, Deepa, Sandy and not forgetting Paul. They went above and beyond to forfil our needs and made sure the evening ran smoothly. I would highly recommend this venue if you have an event coming up. The stage decor to catering was absolutely outstanding.
If you like slightly strange night staff, musty rooms, a terrible breakfast and always wanted to know what sleeping in an Indian restaurant felt like then I can't recommend this place enough. On the positives - morning reception felt less Dusk till Dawn, TV was good, it's a nice looking building and I did sleep pretty well weirdly
We visited Baylis restaurant as we were in a mood to have a nice desi breakfast but not cooked by us. We had alu paratha and chhole puri, with this they served desi tea complimentary. the breakfast was so tasty, wholesome and freshly prepared. One of best meals I ever had. The service by Paul was so courteous and friendly. the breakfast room is also beautiful, we loved the ambiance. The prices were very low, our bill amounted to £12. Overall, very pleased with the experience and will visit again.
We went with some friends to try out the Indian w/e breakfast. We were very well looked after by Paul and the breakfast Various filling Parthas with yogurt, pickle , sliced mooli ,halva and chai or Buturas Cholla with pickle halva and chai or you could have puris Quite good value for money and filling
Nice clean rooms, good price cheaper than some BNB's, nice friendly staff. Breakfast is ok but you can request cooked if desired. All rooms come with full ensuite bathrooms, full size baths if you like to have a soak
What can I say about my stay? First impressions I was impressed beautiful building lovely entrance (you don't stay in that beautiful building!!) You need id to stay and they take a £50 deposit to be returned at the end of your stay (3/4 working days!!!) We'll unpaid cash so refused to pay the 50 I'm glad.... Entered the room to a hideous site! Awful stay on the divan this bed needs replacing asap! Mould on the bath room light only one light working one light broken with wires exposed, shower absolutely freezing after a three hour journey I wanted a hot shower Nd lay down my head! So I rung reception to be told they would contact mantainance and let me know one hour later I rang as I hadn't received any information! To be greeted by a "hello, yes well I have rung them they need to ring you I will find out" finally at 10:30 I was jolted awake by the phone to be told the boiler had been fixed , to try the shower and ring back! I am greatful it did work that's about it!! You can hear everything, every footstep past your door the room I was in has a gap between the door and frame where I could see people walk past!! Breakfast was probably the only bit that was nice! Won't be staying here again avoid at all cost! Best western I am ashamed I've stayed with many of them before this has clearly slipped through the net!! I have woken to have several bite marks which I have had checked and been told like look like bed bugs! Room 12.... Rip the bathroom out and start again New bed and mattress Look at the room size a wardrobe which doesn't open and desk that can't be sat at!
Stayed here for one night on business but I doubt I'll be back, which is a shame as the location is excellent for my works HQ and it was keenly priced for the area. My room was fine, albeit with some roughly done repairs and an odd decor. There was a lack of power points by the desk so working on the laptop was a struggle. I also thought the bathroom would benefit from a deep clean, it wasn't dirty per se, just not up to scratch for a branded hotel. Staff seemed fine when you eventually found someone; I was waiting in reception a good ten minutes before anyone rocked up. I was starting to wonder if they were even open, there was a definite Mary Celest feel to the communal areas. There is also a hotel wide lack of signage which becomes an issue when they operate with so few employees and have such an odd layout. I ended up going out to pick up some food as the menu was random with a mix of Indian, Chinese and Western food, and I didn't fancy sitting in the eerie restaurant. I didn't bother with breakfast either as it didn't look like there was much out so I can't comment on the F&B options. Overall if you're just looking for somewhere to crash out it's fine, if you're expecting the usual amenities you'll probably end up disappointed.
A group of us friends met up on 29/09/208 in the grand, almost palatial settings of the Baylis House Hotel. The lead staff, Paul and his colleagues were very attentive to everyone's need. They were very friendly and still maintained the professionalism that is an essential ingredient for a memorable experience. The cuisine was authentically Indian and exquisite. Thank you Paul and team.
On arrival the hotel looked fantastic, a country retreat in the middle of Slough. It went downhill from there. Check in was painfully slow and for the first time at a UK hotel I was asked to provide photographic ID despite being a Platinum Best Western awards member. I did not have any photographic ID and it seemed that this was going to prevent me from checking in, but I stood my ground and was finally checked in. The room was basic but OK although the bathroom fan was particularly noisy and the TV remote didn't work. Breakfast was basic. Check out was very slow as the receptionist attempted to resolve a problem that she clearly didn't understand on the phone, and then was incredibly rude to whoever was on the other end by putting them on hold whilst she checked me out and resolved another staff members problem. I understand that this hotel is new to the Best Western group and it appears that they have a bit to learn
As a fairly seasoned traveller (not tourist), I believe I have a fairly good grasp of what to expect from a hotel. On arrival was asked for I.D. - first time ever for me in the UK, their 'licence' from Slough Borough Council clearly states this on the certificate displayed in reception. Though I have no idea why the council would stipulate this condition, puzzled about that. I wasn't impressed with being asked for a £50 room deposit either. The kettle did not fit under the tap so had to resort to filling it from the small (and only) tumbler supplied in our double room. There were no bedside lamps in this room, which is a disappointment for someone who enjoys a pre-sleep read. There was an executive style desk chair whose castors found it difficult to navigate over the very lush deep pile carpet! And no power points above the desk. The view from the window was a wooden fence. Note, all bedrooms are to the rear of this annexe building, so don't expect any mind blowing vistas. The mattress protector was too small for the bed, the linen was clean but inadequate, no mat for the bathroom floor, the included toiletries were also inadequate for double occupancy. Seems that there are no set standards with housekeeping. This also applies to the whole of the property, up turned plant tubs, generally the external areas are not treated with any TLC. Such a shame for a Grade 1 listed property. Bar prices are not displayed, or if they were I wasn't able to locate them. So a glass of wine and a pint of lager cost £12.50 - I don't pay that for views from my local bar overlooking the Isle of Wight! Whilst I appreciate (from reading previous reviews and responses) this is a work in progress project, it needs to be better managed. Overall, the hotel lacked consistancy, continuity of service and structure. Such a shame - a uniform and name badges would go a long way to enable one to differentiate between guest and staff, one member of the team was wearing a jumper and jeans and it was only the fact that she was obviously serving other guests that I knew she was indeed a member of staff! Baylis House is now a member of the Best Western Chain which is one of my preferred chains, need to pull your socks up guys! I like to finish on a positive - the bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, the staff were accommodating and the samosas (which turned out to be pakoras) were delicious.
A sprawling old country house estate in the heart of Slough a little bit out of the the hustle and bustle of the main roads. It seems to be aiming for the wedding market and good luck to them in achieving that. A mish mash of buildings all in various stages of renovation and, oh dear, dilapidation. On the latter I have to step over a kitchen washing up bowl catching drips from the ceiling in the corridor outside my room. The room is small for £85.00 a night but I knew that before I handed over the money to Booking.Com so - no real complaints on that score. Why I have to hand over photo ID when checking in is something of a mystery. Hey - i'm all for an adventure and broad minded when it comes down to a one night stop over. I've stayed in worse Travelodges, i've stayed in better. What I would say is that this place needs a good deal of money pumping into it to bring it up to scratch. And I hope they achieve it. Nice, friendly staff it has to be said.
Had my 40th birthday party at Baylis House and was looked after brilliantly by all staff from beginning to the end, Deepa helped plan the event and was so supportive and made sure all details were covered really well On the day Shazad called to advise that the venue is ready and not to worry about anything. The staff at the event were very professional and ensured my guests were looked after, the event manger for the evening was Sandeep who made sure everything was running smoothly and on time, the bar man Sunny ensured there were no long queues at the bar and again was friendly and professional to my guests. Would definitely recommend Baylis House to anyone
In order to explore the venue and consider hiring, we had excellent welcoming experience. We made two trips to Baylis House. First we met sales team (Ms. Deepa), who was friendly, helpful, culturally cognisant, respectful and knowledgeable. She explained all the packages, provided with written information and assured that she can be contacted to answer any further queries. When we visited second time, we met the manager (Mr. Shahzad), who was also friendly, confident, understanding and very knowledgeable about his business. He was hospitable that he offered us food tasting, which was served by another friendly and efficient person (Mr. Paul). Overall we had an excellent experience.
We had our daughter's 5th birthday celebration at Baylis house and it was very well organised right from welcome drinks to food and decoration was exceptional. Many thanks to Shahzad, Nikhil, Sandy and Robin as well as other staff there who went out of the way to make this occasion a memorable one. Will definitely this venue for all party occasions.
Stayed here 5th-7th September, and it has been amazing value for money! The room was clean and comfortable and very modern. We both slept well staff friendly and happy to help if they could. Paul is a credit to your team of staff he served us both days and never failed to make us laugh. We ate in the restaurant on our final night and it was lovely and they even made us dishes that were not on the menu Thankyou! We will return on our next visit to London and will recommend to people traveling Thankyou for an enjoyable and affordable stay!
