SureStay Plus by Best Western Scottsdale North

Did not clean room after request on 2nd day-Had to purchase towels at store after arriving late in evening-Room was over priced for condition of hotel in N Scottsdale- I should of went to a cheaper hotel and would have received better service- Cable was turned off on day of check out- Pictures are deceiving on website

Dissatisfied with the service we received. Room complaints made end results (no communication from management). Shower head came out like a power washer. No shower doors, we were left with massive water damage. Sleep and fall hazard.

Sure Stay Plus - Scottsdale - Airplane flight path - Landscapers working loudly outside at 7:30am - Front desk clerk at checkin abrupt when reviewing the pricing and enforcing deposit - Dingy room; very old and out dated - worth 1/2 the price or less - Shower only no bath tub - Squeaky bathroom door - No fan in bathroom - Hair dryer had bright light on it lighting up the main room at night. - Bathroom sink area part of main room - Bright light from outside coming in - Noisy fridge; dirty freezer - Bathroom toilet paper holder falling off wall - One tissue left in Kleenex box and no refills (looks like it was placed in there strategically) - Housekeeper eating food as they were cleaning the room next door. - Staff very noisy talking outside while we were trying to sleep in.

For the minute I checked in I had a worry feeling about this place got to my room. TV didn't work room was extremely loud to other. two of the three pillows giant stains the comforter was completely filthy with some sort of yellow looking stain liquid on it. There was mold in the bathtub and the shower barely worked. Plus they hike the price due to being there. Definitely don't stay here not worth the money

Convenient location, great staff, good breakfast. Shower had inadequate water protection from spray splashing onto floor. Bed was not comfortable, sagged on one side. Good selection of breakfast items, friendly staff.

Location is good, staff was awesome but 2 towels and 1 wash cloth in a room for 4 needs to be addressed, yes I can go ask for more but I shouldn't have to. And a full shower door instead of 1/2 would be way better, water everywhere…. Elevator needs work as it was scary using it every time! Breakfast was ok but fill the food before the cups so you don't have people standing around with their plates waiting for eggs, not sure how to get rid of the smoke smell … maybe remove all the carpet in the hotel?

Clean room, nice features, big TV, great shower, desk, sitting chair, heated pool. Effective and helpful staff. Renovated hotels are finding it difficult to plan for where a coffee maker can be plugged in... as here you need to move the coffee maker to an outlet like next to the sink, which works ok.

The room was nice. The beds could use replacing. The hotel itself was run downed. Had a very strong odor when you walked in. The staff were nice. The breakfast was ok. Guests were loud doors slamming

The room was fairly clean but there was a napkin jammed in the door frame which prevented us from closing the door all the way and locking it. We did remove it and it worked after that. Breakfast was okay and had some good options. Room was never cleaned but we only stayed 2 nights so it wasn't a huge deal. Found a cigarette burn on the sheets before we left... just not a great experience here.

Usually I look for a quality hotel to stay in, and I thought Best Western was a good name, but this turned out to be a bad experience. The room was small. The bathroom sink and the area around it was too small. We had no place to put our stuff. The shower did not have a handheld shower head for a special needs person and no bench to sit in the shower. We had to ask for one, and someone did bring one down pretty quickly. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. The pool had a lift chair at the pool and the spa, but they did not work as usual. That has been my experience at all hotels and motels i have stayed at. The pool was filthy on the last day of our trip. Someone was attempting to clean it during open pool hours.

Everyone I came in contact with was great. The breakfast in the morning was good. The room was clean. The beds were super comfy and had a great night of sleep. The only thing I didn't care for was the location. There was no grocery store or convenient store close by l.

Good rooms. Doors on outside. Area the hotel is in was probably not the best part of town. We were disappointed the breakfast bar had very limited food to eat. Clean but old. Would not stay again because of area it was located

Housekeeping will knock or walk in even if the “do not disturb” sign is on. Not even a few hours before check out, they knock on the door. Or even go and strip the bed before the checkout time too. Don't communicate with the front desk at all

I booked this hotel for Arizona Bike Week. The surroundings was clean, lobby was clean and the room was clean. I had reserved the room with two beds. Problem was that the beds (yes both) were worn out. Each bed, side next to night stand were collapsed. If you lay down in the center of either bed, you would roll down to the worn side which was uncomfortable. The Continental breakfast was as expected. Did not use the pool facilities, as I didn't have time. Starbucks, Potbelly sandwich shop and Matt's Big Breakfast was next door. Shell gas station a block away.

This isn't the most luxurious place in Scottsdale, but it was very reasonable, the staff was nice and the full, hot breakfast was a nice surprise. The hotel is conveniently located easy walking distance to three small shopping centers with nice restaurants, a natural foods store, bank and other shops. Being very close to Scottsdale airport was a little noisy, but mostly during the day only.

The hotel location was great and close to WestWorld of Scottsdale. Although there is an airport nearby and planes are coming and going for most of the day/night. The TV in the room was great in size, but it didn't seem to have live TV. All of the channels were streaming services like Samsung TV, Apple TV, etc... Sorry, we are used to normal channels and not having to surf around looking for something to watch. We asked the front desk twice how to get live TV so we could watch the ending of Barrett Jackson car auction, but no one had any ideas on how to watch live tv. Also on our 2nd morning, a Saturday, the breakfast was cleaned up and over by 9:15am, when it's advertised to be open till 9:30am. Water pressure in shower is WEAK.

Have stayed here numerous times and was happy. But this stay was disappointing. Mattress covers are plastic and don't breathe... hot sleep. No soap dish or soap dispenser in shower, had to use plastic drinking cup to keep bar of soap off the floor. Sink was clogged and took a long time to drain. Toilet clogged and had to call maintenance. Requested maid service and did not receive it. Neither did our friends room. And two women in the lobby complaining to the front desk that they had requested maid service 3 days in a row and not yet received it. Blue velvet chair in room had something on it that could have been cleaned off before we got there.

This hotel has a friendly staff. It was a pleasant experience. They served a nice breakfast at the hotel. Hotel room was neat and orderly, although there were a few specks of something on the bathroom walls. You wanted 200 words so might as well speak about everything.Hard to find hotel. It does not appear to be on the street that is indicated

Hotel was reasonably priced for what it included with a convenient location in North Scottsdale. Our room was comfortable and updated/remodeled. Staff were friendly. Breakfast included eggs, sausage and waffles. We would stay again.

Best Western over reserved 4 of 5 hotels. Our reserved room was occupied and no additional rooms were available. Finally got a room at the 5th hotel and checked into our room @ 5 a.m. Got 5 hours of sleep before we left for a wedding. Thought we would be spending the night in a rented car in a Best Western parking lot. This is clearly over reserving just like the airlines have done.

I've stayed here many times before when it was a Fairfield Inn, I think. But, this stay will make it my last. I so wanted to give this place a decent review. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was above average fare. The rate was really cheap. Pool was decent. Bed was fairly comfy. BUT, they have a serious problem with housekeeping. In the remodeled section, the flooring must be laminate or linoleum that looks like wood. The bottom of my socks were black...not dusty brown, BLACK after walking on the floors for about an hour. I was shocked. I reported it to the lady at the desk who told me that she knew all about it. "Lots of people complain. It's not a housekeeping issue - they mop the floors, but they just don't come clean". Uh, No.... floors will come clean with a good mop, clean water and a decent floor cleaner. All the good things I could say about this economical stay were overshadowed by the filthy floors. Disappointing.

Sure Stay Scottsdale - a Best Western + embarrassment. Arrived to check in and walked passed an out of order elevator on a 3 story hotel. Advised Desk Clerk that I cannot climb stairs. (Impossible with luggage.) Her answer was that she had no first floor rooms. Not good enough. She found one but the lock would not engage and was falling off of the door. So, she moves us to another room, ON THE SECOND FLOOR. Was again advised of challenge of claiming stairs. Her answer, "well you can't make everyone happy." She finally capitulated and moved us to 'the room from hell." Bathroom had: water stains on walls and floors, water on the toliet and floor, ripped out toliet paper dispenser, and black mold on roof and walls.  Light bulbs in main room were missing and the blackout curtains only rolled half way down which resulted in light in the room all night. And the morning comes revealing the reason for the bathrooms numerous disgusting problems; when the room above us showered, it rained in our bathroom. The morning surprise included wadding through an inch of water and standing over the toliet while used shower water drips from above on to me and everything in the bathroom. Report to the front desk resulted in a handy man visit. He had been to fix the room the day before. He was going to fix it, after we left. So bottomline: NO SHOWER, TRIPS TO STARBUCKS for restroom use, sponge baths and deodorant to participate in an event that we drove 100 miles to Scottsdale to attend. Other guest report elevator out of service for days. Desk Clerk needs customer service training with an emphasis on listening skills. She was the beginning of the nightmare. The handyman cannot fix a situation requiring gutting and remodeling. This hotels is totally out of ADA compliance. Should have an elevator contractor on-call. The room was not useful, and I highly recommend against staying there. Disgusting.

The room was beautiful and clean. Bed was so comfy! Great sleep! We were disappointed in not having a breakfast! Just packaged muffins. Not what we are used to at a Best Western! There is a great place next door though,but still wish they had one in house.

The room was not as advertised, they first gave us a room that was not made up and didn't seem to care. We were there for a 5 night stay so the lack of a microwave, extra pillows and extra hangers was an issue. The elevator was unreliable and it was noisy during the day. Room was small and we were not fans of the half door shower design. Won't be staying at a SureStay Plus hotel in the future.

Overall good location but how does a hotel charge for your stay and not clean your room for 3 days! We placed the provided notice on the door but was told the policy is they will clean the room if asked? Unacceptable

The SureStay looks very nice on the outside, nice pool & hot tub, but the rooms are very small. Adequate but tight. Limited breakfast options that we had to take back to our room the first and second mornings. The 3rd morning the rooms was available but the food was wiped out @ 8:30! No attendant in sight! The TV was only internet stations with no live & current news, weather, etc. Scottsdale is an expensive area, but I expected more for the price. It was a safe hotel with many restaurants & stores close.

Finding hairs on the shower wall would squick me out at the best of times, but given that Arizona was a Covid hot spot when we visited, their presence made me question the hotel's overall cleanliness. When I mentioned it to the front desk staff they agreed to send someone from housekeeping up (and to give us a discount on our price). Housekeeping did come up later that day--but one of the hairs was still there when I returned that evening. Also, not all of the staff wore their masks over their noses--again, not a huge issue, but one that concerned me given how high Covid rates were in the state.

great new rooms, great value. new remodeled rooms are just perfect. location is very good for business and for restaurants. service and breakfast was better than expected. front desk assistance was the best for a business hotel..

We used the hotel as a stopping point for our trip to the Grand Canyon and we stayed two nights. The staff was very helpful especially the front desk clerk Jamila. She was very accommodating when we came back from our hiking trip. We would stay here again.

Had to call around a bunch of phone numbers, eventually reached a support line where they could do nothing for us. Said it had been reported a month ago and was not fixed. This became a major issue, as there's no war to contact the hotel or reception .

Was staying in Scottsdale for work and I'm required to keep room expenses under 100$ a night, not an easy task in Scottsdale. Best Western of course delivered. Clean hotel, helpful friendly staff, under 100$ nightly in North Scottsdale. What else could you want?

The rooms were super clean and the front office staff was exceptionally helpful. The hotel is located in an area where you can walk to the strip mall for food. Starbucks and other good restaurants are in the strip mall next to the hotel.

This hotel was very old and outdated. There were stains on my comforter, the bed was very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, the TV had very poor quality, the pool has not been cleaned lately, the complimentary breakfast was frozen breakfast sandwiches and small boxes of cereal, etc. Overall, I was not impressed with my stay at the SureStay Plus Hotel.

This was probably the worse Best Western I've ever been to. The fact that no room has microwaves and the only one on site is in the main lobby is beyond ridiculous. Also tor a hotel Tom have 3 floors and well over 60 room but to have a laundry room with only one $2-00 washing machine and one $2.00 dryer is also unheard of. The room constantly smelled of marijuana; the A/C could not maintain a consistent temperature, the desk lamp constantly tipped over, the mini fridge needed defrosting, and he tv remote needed new batteries.

This location is undergoing remodel. If you should stay request first floor. Super location 200 yards all types of food etc. Starbucks 50 feet away. Quiet, beds were comfortable nice room set up. This is not the Ritz but if you want a room that if safe and secure this is a super spot. Close to golf service everything.

I found the location to be perfect for a local. Not a big fan of the mattresses and felt they were a bit uncomfortable but everything else was great. The spa was a treat and the pool is large and clean. The private cabana's were a surprise treat. Next time I stay here, I will definitely spend more time poolside

I will not recommend this Best Western Location (Scottsdale North). I arrived around 9pm after a 6 hr drive and there was no one in the Front desk area waited for about 7 minutes saying Hello very loudly trying to get someone to come no one did ,I called their Phone number while standing in the lobby the phone rung and rung until this guy showed up with a not very friendly altitude and his eyes were red not sure what he was doing,he never apologized for the wait as of matter of fact he did not say a thing .. Room smelled like old houses smell and pillow cases had pink stains.. When I checked out I asked to speak to the manager and was not available, I was given a card to call .. I had used a Best Western Holtel 2 weeks prior in Chandler Arizona and it was very nice that is why I decided to go with them again very disappointed with this location(Scottsdale North).

The security on my door was horrible. Someone with a key card was able to open my door even with the deadbolt locked. The only thing that kept them from entering my room was the hasp lock. Spend a few more bucks and stay somewhere nicer.

I stayed for 1 night, ac was not working right nor the shower. I did not complain due to a long work day and only was staying for one night. If you were staying for longer in this crazy Arizona heat. Room was clean, bed was comfy.

We had planned a day at the lake ,to camp over night got a few days. Me ,my daughter and granddaughter.well most of the camp sites ended up being closed due to high risk for fires . Therefore only day passes were available. It was getting late & instead I'm driving all the way back home we decided to find a hotel that was close to stay at in in the morning to go back to the lake someplace close and affordable. So I had my daughter go on Priceline and book a room at the Best Western. Even though the hotel is under construction for remodeling. It was really great they offered complimentary breakfast and met all of our needs can I just say it was the best day ever at the lake Bartlett lake. I would like to say thank yout the morning manager. I believe his name is Charles

I do not like to leave a negative review BUT this is for the benefit of other travelers. Booked for 2 nights stayed for one. Per site "staff required to wear face masks" the hotel clerk was but a woman mopping the lobby near me was not. Upon arriving in the room, I noticed it was pretty clean went to wash hands and there were black hairs all over the hand towels. Not one or two, like someone shaved all over them. Took them to the front desk they were replaced and the front desk clerk apologized. Place is under construction and the only elevator is right near the construction area, pretty messy but then I'm not sleeping there. I work in law enforcement and looking out your window to see a couple of drug deals go down was a turn off to ever return there. The bed was horrible, didn't sleep good the 1st night attempted the 2nd night and ended up leaving.. Room was quiet, A/C and refrigerator worked great. Self serve breakfast was great!

I was in town for surgery. This hotel is very close to Mayo. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. It has many restaurants very close, even within walking distance. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the water pressure and shower head were exquisite! Just basic cable TV. But their internet was fast enough to stream movies on my iPad. I will definitely stay here next trip to Phoenix.

This hotel is very outdated and is now a low budget Best Western charging premium rates. When i booked through Trivago, the rate was $180 and i made the payment. By the time it went though Trip Advisor and then Cancelon, i was charged $240 and there was no way to cancel.

I recently stayed here for a business trip and was looking for an affordable play to stay for 3 days and this hotel fit my needs perfectly. Its a great hotel for business travelers looking for a cost effective lodging and I plan to have my contractors stay here for an upcoming project in Scottsdale.

I had read reviews on this property before I booked it. Honestly I feel they were not fair. The hotel is going to get a full renovation this spring so for now they are trying there best, They have a wonderful breakfast selection that has just been revamped, and the beds and pillows are new. I am sure after the renovation this property will worthy of the Best Western name.

Since this is a Marriott property i thought it would be nice, I was extremely disappointed. The rooms open to the outside like a motel, not like a hotel. The room lighting was so fun I could barely read a book with all of the lights turned on. The. Decor was drab and the carpet was worn. They did have a good breakfast, but that's about all.

Stayed here for a few days while attending SimCom - the rate was awesome and the perks extraordinary especially if you are a member of the “Marriott” brand hotels. Nice hotel, friendly staff made me feel like I was “family” while away from home. Great location and within walking distance to many attractions including the Kierland Commons which is a blast to go to if you haven't. Stay here you won't regret it.

Arrived late with two other guests so we were tired. Enter the room, went to use the rest room and it wasn't clean. Hair on the floor and the bathtub, plus someone used the toilet and their were remnants left in the toilet. I've been in the hotel /event industry for 30+ years and this is completely unacceptable. However, we called down stairs and were switched to another room right away. The property needs some updating and needs to be cleaned. Otherwise the staff was nice and professional.

I had such a great successful stay here! I can't not give them 5 stars. First NO PETS, NO DOGS are allowed here. We look for that before booking a hotel and we appreciate Marriott enforcing this policy. Keep in mind that it is five stars in their classification of the type of hotel it is: Simple Business Class accommodations under $100 a night. (So we are not comparing it to the Ritz Carlton--Okay.) This is one of the least expensive hotels you can stay at in this very upscale area of North Scottsdale. Their location is the Best! You really can't get any better--they are walking distance to Kierland shopping and the mall on the other side of Scottsdale Rd from Kierland. They are next to a Starbucks, gasoline and provided a quality free breakfast. For me Hard Boiled Egg Whites, Oatmeal, Chobani Yogurt, Raisin Bran, and Fruit every morning. Perfect. If you are looking to shorten your life--they have breakfast food for you too. If you drive 3 miles from the Hotel North and South on Scottsdale Rd you will pass over 100+ restaurants and shopping venues. It's a reasonably safe location and one of my favorite areas. Place was clean and the staff here--I made a number of requests and they were so accommodating! They were perfect! They use Paul Mitchell soaps and Shampoos made in the USA! (check your other hotels--many high end are importing from China--look at the labels.) They have a nice size outdoor pool if you have time and easy free parking. The hotel was filled and still there were plenty of parking spaces late at night. My bed was a little creaky--but comfortable. Mattress good quality but no where near the quality of a 200 a night Marriott. Towel quality is fine. Again, not Ralph Lauren towels you will find at the 800 a night Bel Air Hotel in Beverly Hills, but not the pitiful scratchy small towels you will find at Motel 6 or Super 8. I had no problem with the towels and I have Ralph Lauren at home. Flat screen TV was fine and there were adequate plugs coming out of the lamp next to the bed to charge phones. They have an elevator and ice and vending on the floors. There is a mini-fridge in the room that made my water so cold it froze. The Air Conditioner was perfect--you will not be able to tolerate how cold it can make the room if you want it to. Easy to set and turn on and off. Carpet was clean--I could not find a hair anywhere. The housekeeping staff was friendly and always said hello. They have self-help luggage carts. They will gracefully hold your luggage safe in the back room on checkout if you want to explore the town before you have to fly out. So this hotel is appropriate for Business Travelers that need a stay of 3 nights or less and Couples or singles looking for safe, clean inexpensive accommodations. This hotel is not appropriate for anyone that is holding a room party or wants to dress up and hang out in a chic lobby or lobby bar. Not the right place for room hopping teens. Not really the best place for Children either. By 10 PM, it's good night at this hotel. See you at the 7 AM breakfast!

We booked this flea bag on line, thinking that this is a Marriott Brand, what could be wrong. Our mistake was not booking direct, we booked two room that were non-refundable for a total cost of approximately $1,500. The room were booked from the 9th to the 16th of April. When we drove up to the hotel it looked like a former lesser brand name motel not a hotel. The lobby entrance is practically hidden from the parking lot, when walking in your shoes almost stick to the grime in the floor. Ok, we figured it has got to get better, it did for just a bit; the two young lady checking in were gracious, personable, and were accomaditing during our check in. Well that was the highlight of the hotel . We went to our rooms, the steel door had dents as if some one was trying to kick them in, oh I forgot the elevator was filthy. We opened our door and looked at a dark dingy room, everything outdated. The swivel lamb on the desk was leaning over, sitting on one of the beds it sounded like the Titantic sinking. The bathroom had thread bare towels, I forgot walking to the room the floors and walls where filthy, cracked tiles, and just disgusting. You turned on the lights and the room got darker. We picked up our son about a couple hours later from the airport and warned him about the property, in fact I told him it reminded of the Hotel from Breaking Bad, you know the one where Wendy lived and worked. Our son couldn't believe me when we driving to the hotel, he thought I was joking, little did he know I was not joking. After a discussion with the family we got the heck out of this place, the first thing the next morning, we lost our $1,500 and checked into the fantastic Sheraton at Wrigley West for guess what less than what the Fairfield charged a night. I spoke to the customer service at Marriott headquarters, and they went out of there way to help us, unfortunately because I booked thru one of the well known internet hotel sites, they couldn't help with a refund. When checking out we were offered different rooms, but I'm not that brave even thou I served in Vietnam Nam, we got the heck out of this place as fast as we could. We have traveled extensively over our 49 years of marriage this is the very first negative review we have ever given. Bottom line stay away, be afraid, perform an exorcism on this place.
